This One Song… The Psychotic Monks on Crash
Tell you what – we love hearing from artists when things go right. We equally love hearing from artists when things go dreadfully wrong. A song that was a piece of piss, written in 20 minutes? Or years in the making and a bastard to write? Whether it’s a song that came together through great duress or one that was smashed out in a short amount of time, we’re getting the lowdown from some of our…

Other dynamics reader has because I love all the things
Trip:
She treats Tripataka like a little brother. And will bully him but refuse to allow others to do the same. She's protective over him and wants him to compete his journey supporting him the best she can and running interference when she can. But only after the toll of her calling him baldy or drama queen has been settled.
Pigsy:
Pigsy is that gross weird cousin that you hate to admit you are related too. She has threatened him with a stick. More then once. He lost interest in her after she said a string of curses so loud and vulgar he was permanently put off but it started "this is why your single" jokes between them
He stubs his foot? "This is why your single"
She smacks her head into door frame? "This is why your single"
Sandy:
Sandy is that sweet cousin who at first your like omg they fucked up actually. He gets to hear the most about dead people from her. Unfortunately. But she does share a love for swimming with him and asks about maneuvering through water with heavy currents safely. She teaches him how to box/kick box.
Dragon horse:
Little brother but that little brother who everyone loves and doesn't really get bullied because his siblings pity his existence. He bites. She tells him that if he bites her, she will give him treats like he's a real horse, not a shape shifted dragon prince running an errand.
Wukong:
Oh boy this is where things get complicated and why I often just say what ever they have. I should note this wukong is not a yandere he's if anything psychotic with obsession issue's. There is a fondness between him and reader both having an understanding and both coming from large family's they care deeply for. Both are social as hell and seek each other out. However they aren't healthy it's a coping mechanism.
He doesn't like she can see through his bull shit when he spots it. More often then not how ever she can somewhat reason with him coming from an angle of hey stop and think is the head ache spell worth the trouble? No then leave it be unless it's an active threat to the monk.
Both also respect the others intellectual minds. Both different facets but never the less Both are highly smart and he has asked why she wastes her mind fighting if she doesn't have to leading down an amazing discussion.
Both find each other attractive in different ways and different views. He sees her as a one of a kind thing that the celestials are too stupid to use properly. And reader is a hopeless romantic with a brain.
In short its complicated but it's not.
He does want to have her as his wife but more as a fuck you to the gods in a fucked up way. After all its their fault she's there and it'd their fault they put her in his path.

Strange New Worlds end
-This might be a reach on my part, but I think they hold Kirk flirting to be too 'toxic masculinity,' but they obviously can't make him a monk, so what they've done amounts to making him a sex god whose mere presence on the Enterprise can immediately land him in a love triangle without him even trying.
-I've really grown to dislike the "you are an old lover of mine and you got me pregnant but for personal reasons unrelated to abuse or any wrongdoing on your part (you are a great guy) I am going to preemptively cut you out of your child's life and raise them on my own" trope. I mean, it's really psychotic behavior once you get out of the soap opera lens (a secret love child!) and into anything approaching the real world goggles (did you know fathers have rights?)
Tumblr media
However, fiddling with that now is, like a lot of SNW's updates... iffy. Is Kirk just a deadbeat dad who decided to put adventuring around the cosmos over raising his kid? Did Carol not just neglect to tell him about David, but lie about either having a miscarriage or David being someone else's? Is there a word for taking something that's... un-kosher, but essentially a settled issue (like the Jedi taking Padawans into battle or Batman having Robins) and trying to 'justify' it but really just stirring up shit that cannot ever be litigated well?
-Speaking of Kirk, it's a bit odd that in a show nigh obsessed with giving every character traumatic backstories, they're doing nothing with Jim and Sam's canonical survival of a genocide. I'm guessing they don't want to give Jim even more of a focus than he'll already be getting (no idea why Sam has less screentime than characters from entirely different shows), but feels like the implication is just that straight white men are way better at dealing with their mental health issues than women and minorities. Skill issue, I suppose.

fav campaign and why
<this is YOUR invitation to send me asks about anything>
oh god im no good at having feelings or opinions so ill just go down a list rattling off my experiences with the campaigns
for the record from the start ive been cheating, ive Never played this game blind. id consumed a lot of rain world playthrough medias before playing it (im not good at playing games in the sense that i simply do not experience them- im a speedrunner at heart... or not competitive or intelligent, im just walking fast paced from start to end...) and when i did play i always had a map and the wiki open which i think diminishes some of the feeling. but i still had fun moving from place to place
SURVIVOR: its classic. its sweet. its fun. i played about halfway through myself, but the second half i completed with my "Boyfriend" so i remember it as being very entertaining as we both fumbled around and learned together. it serves its purpose well and i think anything i enjoy about rain world can be seen in the survivor campaign at least to start off with... 10/10 nothing special but no loss by playing it yknow. ive also done an outer expanse + baby run (ftr if you want baby fast before going to outer expanse, live in industrial for a while. cannot compete with that pup spawn rate + you can easily make the rounds to check like 5 shelters a cycle before its anywhere near over) which yes -_- did make me cry.
MONK: i.. dont like playing monk. friendliness from other creatures does not mean much to me when actively hostile creatures are near impossible to kill because my spear can travel one (1) slugcats worth in distance so i would not play this with my fairly aggressive play style... i only played it for the short time itd take to get to outer expanse and. again. yes. i cried -_- i think its very sweet, and i am like. (clinically) psychotically attached to monk where its very important to my heart BUT Its not fun as a game experience to me
HUNTER: i tried to jolly co op cheat and play as arti to finish this as i find arti the easiest to play as but i kept crashing which is. you know. very bad for the single campaign where you want to be losing the least so ive never made much progress with this one and i genuinely dont want to open hunter back up because of the crashing. i THINK This was because i was playing w the sunhat mod because ive never experienced that magnitude of crashing constantly and uninstalled it after and have not experienced that again until... well youll read later
GOURMAND: i played this one from the start with my "Boyfriend" and so again it was fun from that, ESPECIALLY because he played as artificer and so was essentially my chariot throughout the campaign... easy way to beat gourmands exhaustion: make your partner carry you. shrimple. its SO fun to beat the shit out of creatures and i do like being forced to just take a moment and walk around slowly, i havent found his exhaustion toooo terrible if youre just patient except when youre fighting creatures that have health enough that you cant kill them in one hit. but being able to just slam something to death is SO satisfying, i enjoyed it. HOWEVER, ive never actually gotten to the END (Due to "Boyfriend" availability, we've stopped just outside the outer expanse gate). and of course, yes, every single fucking time i watch someone go into outer expanse i CRY LIKE A BABY. the first i think DOZEN times i watched people go through outer expanse, id start WAILING whenever i just saw slugcat npcs, it tugs and tears at my heart strings so badly. youre not alone. youve spent a campaign or two trudging through a wasteland empty of kind relatable figures but youre HOME now, just as you left it, and everyones so happy to see you back. im crying now . (do i just cry a lot? Maybe. im at an emotional point in my life... be nice.) 12/10 above survivor def, and gourmands my most favorite to play as in expedition- cant argue with that combat system + exhaustion isnt too bad for me + i love the variety of the world, its not impossibly difficult while not being easy.
ARTIFICER: ive never finished revenge route, ill be going to a different save file to try and it now, instead ive finished the ascension route. i know arti can be... extremely frustrating to play because its hitting a wall again and again and again but i really didnt have too much trouble approaching it knowing i had to be prepared to die + using my map a lot ("WTF this game is so unfair i cant see enemies about to shoot me!" Use Your Map. use your map and slug senses) + of course... ample map skills so im not ambling and getting like im getting lost and dying for nothing. though i will say, i did nearly give up at exactly the end- i think its the camera scroll mod but subterranean made the game near unplayable. like 0.5 frames per second, computer screaming, crashing i think a half dozen times again in an area where i NEEDED the karma to the point where i had to passage in place so i could ascend, and then crashing i think thrice while i was in the depths, including not allowing me to see the end cutscene... specifically that huge room with the big pit would grind the game to a halt i think because its so large and all the enemy AI, and all the spiders and centipedes are a nightmare and i just... hated it. every other leg of the game was fine, rewarding, heart touching but dear fucking lord, subterranean isnt more difficult or intriguing its just "the games not going to play smoothly at all and heres 5000000 ridiculously enemies". i WANT to love it, you know i love arti, but its just impossible to play if you want to ascend. and of course revenge route is crazy short which feels bad. removed from my experiences though, i think its beautiful with the one caveat that revenge route is TOO short. ive watched way too many people who were interested in the lore never get to even the third dream because theres just not enough shelters if you run straight to metropolis, which makes me sad. but the story generally is beautiful and i love it (and i could talk about it later, some of the things people say about arti makes me.. insane. either that shes totally righteous in her actions, or that her pups deaths are her fault)
SPEARMASTER: playing this one while cheating both using the map to plan exactly the route you need and to go through precipice as arti for the double jump + to swallow the pearl made it an absolute dream. yes the world is very scary but you can avoid a lot of the worst parts by simply not being there <3 one part: i did forget to change back to spearmaster before going to moon and she did crash my game so . remember to do that. very good campaign both for me to have played without doing anything as intended (never touched a broadcast), combat is fun, but also a very good story. i really like five pebbles and... i cannot get into the degree of five pebbles apologist i am i genuinely cant detail this without going off the rails. regardless; much 2 think about.
RIVULET: never played this one + not playing this one very scary looks bad dont want it. no rot no underwater sections no thank you. wont touch it. wont look at it. thank you
SAINT: hesitant to play this one due to the adventure aspect though i already got all echoes with arti so it cant be that bad- of course the story aspect of it all cannot be understated and it fully shattered my world view when i got into it. rain worlds live and die messaging has really helped me through suicidal and delusional periods and im very glad for what can be gleaned from saints story so i do like it a lot. as ive said before its also so amazing how a game with little to no tutorial text or cutscenes can have numerous jaw drop moments (with max karma reveal and descent into rubicon)
SOFANTHIEL: funny haha! (Jumps around

Red Robin's arcade endings
MK9
The defeat of Shao Kahn had finally freed Red Robin of his grudge, unlocking a memory that he had long ago put away. When he was just a boy, young Nico Ghai was another victim of slavery. Finally escaping, he found two mystic daggers which he used to escape the fortress he found them in. Returning to the outpost and finding the corpses of his parents, he took all his rage out on the guards who were in said post. He got his revenge, but at what cost? He decided to hunt criminals over the market, using non-lethal force, but when they push out of line... lets just say that was their gravest mistake.
MKX
After near-flawlessly defeating Shinnok, Robin held the amulate in one had, and a blood-stained dagger in the other. It tried to telepathically speak to the crusader, which he tried refusing to listen to it. He seeked out the help of the monks of the Wu Shi, searching for a way to destroy the amulet. Eventually, he was cured of the amulets corruption the more time he spent in the academy, thanks to one monk, and the greatest martial arts master of Earthrealm. The monk in question, was Liu Kang.
MK11
Robin: I always loved a good brawl. *Especially* if i get to kill psychotic pieces of shit like Kronika. But getting to control and manipulate time and destiny? I don't know, man... my first thought of it was... "What if my folks never died?" But i realize that was not only selfish, but threw alot of other things off balance. "What if i made it so people like Sub Zero, Kabal or even Tremor were never hurt the way they were?" Then, the events of the invasion happened and Shao Kahn wasn't killed. Ultimately, i kept the timeline the way it is.  Every chapter, every storyline? Same as it was before. But with one small change: Cassie and Billie never met. That way, Cassie never got in *too* much trouble, and Billie? Well... she kept living her life, whilst im in the back, trying to make her and her family as happy as i can.

Aang: Hey guys. Zuko and I are gonna need Appa for a while. If anyone wants to come with us, by all means hop on.
Katara: Why? What’s going on.
Aang: Vaatu has Azula. We’re going to get her back.
Katara: You two are still trying to save her? Still trying to fix her? Even after everything she’s done?
Aang: First of all, I don’t like the term ‘fixing,’ she’s a person, not a wind-up toy. Secondly, what are we supposed to do? Just let her suffer and die?
Katara: (shrugs)
Aang: You don’t have to come along, ya know. We all know how much you don’t like her.
Katara: And why do you think that is? She took over Ba sing se, it was her idea to sentence the entire earth kingdom to suffer the same fate as the air nomads, she shot you and Zuko, she tried to shoot me, she attacked Suki, and held a bunch of kids hostage. She’s dangerous and insane. She had plenty of chances to change and rejected them.
Zuko: I won’t let her commit any more war crimes, but I won’t turn my back on her either. I owe her too much.
Katara: I get that she’s your sister, she helped save your life and overturned your banishment, Zuko, but she tried to kill you and corrupt you afterwards and has become viciously psychotic. (To Aang) Don’t you get it? She almost killed you! Another fire nation monster almost took someone else I care about the most away from me! I swore to myself I wasn’t gonna let that happen! Not again!
Aang: This isn’t like with your mom or with your dad, Katara.
Katara scoffed.
Aang: Your mom dying, Vaatu killing your dad, none of that was your fault. Don’t ever tell me that I don’t understand!
Katara: I’m sorry I dismissed your tragedy before. I just don’t get how you can be so easily forgiving. I once told you that I will never forgive Yon Rha, regardless, if Hama killed him or not. As for Vaatu, he’s proven to be the worst of the worst, I, personally, wanna do a lot more than just kill him. I want him to suffer as badly as possible, for everything that he’s done. And he’s going to. But I thought what I said about the southern raiders would teach you something.
Aang: Teach me what?
Katara: That some people don’t deserve to be forgiven. You don’t owe people who hurt you any forgiveness.
Aang: Look, I’m sorry I was demanding and forceful about forgiveness before. I realize that I wanted you to forgive for my sake rather than for your own. But forgiveness is not about deserve, it doesn’t make you weak, it doesn’t make you a doormat. You can still set up boundaries, you can still be concerned for your own safety. Yes, it is hard, but trust me, it’s worth it. Once the threat level of your enemies is neutralized than that’s the moment where it’s recommended to forgive them, not for them but for yourself, if you don’t then they take power over you. Forgive them for your OWN sake.
Katara: You think rescuing her will reduce her threat level and it’ll persuade her to be on our side? Even when she’s good enough of a liar to fool even Toph? You found out that the air nomad philosophy was flawed and sometimes hypocritical. You’ve broken your no kill rule many times and you’ve never even noticed but learned to be ok with it. I bet that means you understand that some people deserve to die.
Aang: Are you saying I should kill her when I get the chance? I don’t need to kill her. I’ve said before, ever since I reopened all my chakras, Azula and I have become more connected than ever. I can see past her lies better than Toph can. Yes, I’ve broken the oath, as did the other monks in a desperate attempt to survive, even when that meant going against their own lessons. It all still haunts me, but it shows that things aren’t as clear cut as I used to believe, and a certain amount of inner darkness is needed for internal balance. My culture’s a part of me but it doesn’t define me, and as the avatar, I’m required to embrace all ideologies, even some completely opposite of my own, I don’t need to trade one for the other.
Zuko: Can we hurry this along? Azula still needs us.
Aang: Clocks ticking guys, anyone who wants to come needs to head on Appa now.
Sokka: We’ll likely run into Vaatu again. You’re gonna need all the help you can get.
Sokka, Suki, Toph, Mai, Ty Lee, Aang and Zuko hopped on Appa. Zuko saw Katara standing there.
Zuko: Katara, please.
Katara clutched his fists, sighed and climbed aboard.
Aang: Yip-Yip.
Appa than launched off.

padmé amidala’s unhingedness is literally so overlooked because sure she’s this super savvy intelligent wise politician leader type person but on the other hand this woman saw some 19 year old kid that she hasn’t interacted with in 10 years, who kills a bunch of people (including children) a couple of days after they reunite and ADMITTED it to her, who isn’t allowed to have any meaningful attachments to anything or anyone because he’s some kind of space monk, be completely obsessed with her and went like yes i shall marry him. AND THEN when he goes off the rails insane during a psychotic episode and commits mass murder AGAIN in an even larger scale she’s like ykw fuck it anakin let’s just get out of here and live in peace. huh??????

How does one achieve a higher power? How do you climb upon the stars and gain a feeling, a control for the world around you? How do you see the unseen, hear the unheard and feel what cannot be touched? How do you find the truth with no honesty and the lies with no deceit? How do you, mortal with no concept, know?
Well, you'd need to talk to a Tibetan monk, I guess. My advice is not to try it unless you're willing to devote your life to an extended period of meditation, introspection, and spiritual study. Do not attempt anything resembling this without the help of a qualified teacher.
And, by the way, taking drugs will not help you achieve this unless the drugs make you psychotic. The psychosis can help you achieve the same effect, but if you don't already have psychotic tendencies, there's a good chance you will get a lot more confused than you want to be. In that case, it's best to wait until you've learned to accept your own psychotic tendencies in a healthy way. This can be done by meditating on your own feelings and thinking, becoming better acquainted with the emotions and thoughts you normally avoid.
As for what I think of these questions, it's all pretty basic "how to become enlightened" stuff. Assuming you're talking about meditation in the conventional sense, I'd say:
1. These things are not easy. Yes, they are technically "within your grasp," but that is true in much the same way that jumping off a tall building is within your grasp. There is no simple trick or shortcut or "cheat code." Everyone must take the long, difficult path. It can be done by anyone, but it will take a lot of time and effort. There are no easy secrets.
2. Lies and deceit are out, obviously. Truth and honesty are nice, but not totally necessary. If you want the truth, "self-honesty" isn't nearly enough. On the other hand, the truest thing there is is something you can't say, so anything you say is already lying to some extent.
Another thing to remember, when discussing "truth" and "honesty," is that intentions matter a lot more than whether the content of what you say is technically "true." Knowledge is not necessarily power. Truth can be liberating, but it can also be something you put out there that hurts other people. You can only attain high power if you know when to be quiet and when to be loud, and what to say when you speak.
3. This is perhaps the hardest part, and it's something you have to discover for yourself. The "truth with no honesty" is a sort of perfection, but you need to remember that the goal is not to manipulate reality by willpower. Everyone in the room, not just you, gets to decide what is real. The goal is not to change that reality, but to make it coincide with your own will, so that you and the room are doing the same thing. You must align your will with the will of a greater whole, not try to impose your will on that whole.
