Just finished reading an incredible essay by E Patrick Johnson called "Quare" Studies, or (Almost) Everything I Know About Queer Studies I Learned from My Grandmother. Basically, quare theory is a reaction white queer theorist's tendency to ignore queer people of color, and the material effects that both race and class have on people outside of gender and sexuality. I think maybe everyone should read it (though it was assigned in a masters level class and took me two days to read, so be warned I guess)
