How Different Elves Would Comfort You When You're Sad (Ft. A Mix of Characters from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit!)
Just a little something I threw together with a random accumulation of characters I was thinking about at the time. This was really fun to work on, and I might do a part two some time in the future!
Galadriel:
She’s wrap you up in the warmest embrace if you asked for it.
Provides the most beautiful and comforting words to help you through your emotions. She wants you to know that some things are out of our control, and that it is okay to feel these negative emotions when they come up.
If you need to vent, she offers to go on a walk where you can talk it out. She’s always there to lend a listening ear when you need it.
Tauriel:
Tauriel doesn’t touch you when you’re upset, she just listens and talks to you. She tries to ground you the best she can with her words.
If there’s something around that’s overstimulating you, she’ll get rid of it immediately (or try to reduce it to the best of her ability).
She always apologizes for whatever happened to you. Not in an “it’s my fault” kind of why but in a “this should have never happened to you” kind of way.
She’s always up to give you space if you need it. Tauriel knows how it feels to need time alone to process difficult emotions, especially sadness, so she understands completely if you need to be alone.
Thranduil:
He always takes you somewhere secluded where you can comfortably let your emotions out without being watched or judged by others. Thranduil likes to keep his Darling safe from watchful eyes that might use moments like this against you.
He comforts you as you cry, letting you burry your tears stained face into his shoulder. He cradles your head in one hand, the other placed firmly on your back, grounding you.
When you’ve finished crying, he wipes the tears from your face and kisses your knuckles.
If you so wish, he’ll then kiss you other places: your cheek, your lips, your neck
Arwen:
Seeing you cry breaks Arwen’s heart.
In all honesty, she feels like she needs to cry at the sight of you so upset.
When you’re upset, Arwen traces patterns on your back and shoulders as you cry into your hands. You appreciate the touch.
When you calm down a bit, she wipes your tears away and guides your face to hers, making your foreheads touch.
Legolas:
Legolas only touches you when asked directly, but when you do ask for physical comfort, he gives it to you in full force. He hugs you so tight, knowing that the pressure usually helps you calm down.
He whispers nice things in your ear, little comforts like “This feeling will pass” or “It will be all right in the end, trust me.”
Legolas is also the king of distractions. He knows that your mind will dwell on whatever is bothering you until you have something else to think about. When you’ve calmed down significantly, he talks to you about the trees or recounts a fond memory of his. Sometimes he even reminisces on a time that you two have spent together, which usually makes you laugh or sigh fondly at the memory.
Celeborn:
Celeborn is a man of not so many words. He comforts you through actions rather than speech, but the impact is just as significant.
Whether you two are lying down or sitting somewhere together, he traces careful patterns on your back after checking in to ask if that’s something you want.
In the moments where you’d rather not be touched, Celeborn listens. He knows the need to vent is something that comes up when you’re upset, and he wants nothing more than for you to get it all out. He listens intently to what you have to say and is great at interpreting your speech as you hitch and sputter out your words if you’re still in the middle of crying.
When you’ve finished saying your piece, Celeborn provides light encouragement and advice to help you regulate your emotions and work toward making your situation better.

Of Colds & Questions -
---
The University of Wizardry was nestled in the sphere of Crossroad of the Realms. Its placement had the advantage of existing outside of time—that is, time as most understand it. Days and nights and seasons passed, Wizards matured in knowledge and body, however, age was a tricky thing to be accurate about.
It was difficult to surmise exactly how much time had come and gone between Kíli’s arrival and that moment then, when he stood, poised to knock on Master Fíli’s door, to ask how one was expected to know when to return home for Christmas.
He wouldn’t be nervous if Tauriel hadn’t brought Christmas up in the first place while they studied the advanced texts on the Crossroads, all indicating that time happens all at once and can be accessed at any point through one of the countless doors lining the Cave of Names.
The concept had given Kíli a headache.
Had he aged at all, then? Or was he still a boy of seven in the body of man? Surely, he must be older, now that he’d started his lessons under the strict guidance of The Academy of Information.
Never mind that, if he had aged, did that mean his family had aged as well and he’d ignored them for years? Did Uncle Thorin still rule Erebor? Or had Tíli ascended the throne? Was Tíli a young or old man!? Had Kíli missed a thousand Christmases or only one…or any!? Did Kíli have nibblings—!?
“If you’re going to come in, Kíli, I suggest you start by opening the door.”
Kíli’s mind soothed at the sound of Master Fíli’s voice, the flood of questions ceasing instantly. He did as he was told and opened the door to enter Master Fíli’s Sanctum, the space not nearly as cluttered as it had been before Kíli’s apprenticeship. The desk remained a source of Kíli’s anxiety, but the shelves upon shelves had been organized, and the piles of parchments and potion ingredients were cleared into neatly labeled trunks.
In the corner, Master Fíli’s familiar, Amadeus, was curled up on an armchair. He’d been a crooked, old thing only three days ago, yet, Kíli noticed, he was now kitten-shaped. The only reason Kíli even knew it was Amadeus was the look of boredom Amadeus offered him as he passed.
The questions began to bubble in Kíli’s mind again. Could time move things backwards?
“Sir?” Kíli called, stepping into the middle of the main room, though giving Master Fíli’s desk a wide berth. “I just have a question about—”
            “ACHOO”
Kíli jumped, spun around in a circle, his heart in his throat. A glimmer of golden dust lifted random objects from their places then vanished as soon as the sneeze ended, causing them to clatter to the floor.
“Master Fíli?” Kíli hesitantly tiptoed further into the room, toward a light purple door that Kíli was told never to open. “Are you in there?”
Another sneeze, more objects lifted and released by the spell laced within Master Fíli’s voice.
Taking a deep, steadying breath, Kíli broke the rule and opened the purple door.
The room beyond was small, cozy, with a modestly sized fireplace and a large, overstuffed bed across from it. Small shelves were hung all over the walls holding lit candles at varying heights and widths, the wax melting over the edges.
A patchwork of overlapping rugs and carpets covered the floor, the corner of one smacking Kíli’s ankle when he tried to step foot into the room in his boots.
“Oh, pardon me,” He toed his boots off and left them outside the door.
            “Ahhhhh—AAAAAAAAAhhhhhhh-CHOO!”
Everything in the room, including Kíli, was swept into the air then unceremoniously dropped. Kíli landed on his front, the layers of carpet softening the blow when he hit the ground. He picked himself up and went to the bed, peering over a mound of blankets and pillows. At the center of the cocoon was Master Fíli, sickly pale and clammy apart from his nose that was bright red and sore.
“Kíli, be a good sport and kill me, would you?” Master Fíli rasped, feeling around his cocoon for a tissue, of which there seemed to be many.
“Sir, don’t you have any healing herbs?”
Master Fíli groaned and flapped a hand in the direction of the nightstand behind Kíli. When Kíli turned, he saw a precariously tall mountain of empty mugs, clearly having contained every healing concoction Fíli had ever heard of or devised himself. Kíli even spied Master Dwalin’s favourite teacup and saucer that he’d complained had gone missing a few days before.
“Is it a curse?” Kíli wondered aloud.
‹‹∞››
Fíli heard him, his chuckle dissolving into a painful cough, “No, Kíli, it’s not a curse. Just a nasty cold.” He paused to blow his nose. “We’ve come up with a cure for bloody black lung, but we can’t cure the common coooo-OOooOO-OOHHHH—ACHOO!”
The room spun, everything floating into the air and dropped again as Fíli sneezed. That time, Kíli landed crossways on top of him, knocking the air from Fíli’s lungs and setting off another wet, horrible coughing fit.
When he’d normally be embarrassed (or mildly amused) to have Kíli in such a position, right then Fíli was in no state to muster any reaction whatsoever, his mind entirely occupied plotting another sleeping potion that would knock him out for a few months.
Regrettably, Kíli mended his arrangement and sat back on his haunches.
“What is it you wanted to ask?” Fíli inquired in an effort to hide his disappointment at the loss of Kíli’s warmth.
            “Christmas.” Kíli said.
            “Christmas?”
            “And time.” Kíli added.
“Christmas and time.” Fíli wasn’t sure he was keeping up, his brain filled with cotton and static. “You wanted to ask about Christmas and time?”
He should’ve asked a more specific question because the words spilled from Kíli like a fountain, bubbling over and into themselves as Kíli explained what had spawned his desire for such information and then every thought he’d had since.
Somewhat delirious, Fíli raised his forefinger and placed it over Kíli’s lips, corking whatever Kíli was going to say next. Kíli, adorably, went crosseyed following the point of Fíli’s finger, but respected what Fíli was too tired to ask. He remained silent as Fíli removed his finger and returned his hand to his side.
“Firstly, you can visit whenever you want. Just be aware of your comings and goings. Write them down, Kíli, I’m serious.” Fíli couldn’t help but smile at Kíli’s confused expression. He raised his hand and raked his fingers through Kíli’s hair, holding him there. “Time is tricky. It’s important to remember when you were somewhere and when you weren’t.”
‹‹∞››
Master Fíli’s hand was a gentle weight on his head, fingers scratching shivers across Kíli’s scalp and down his back. It was impossible to pay attention to anything Master Fíli was saying.
“—and never visit when you’ve already visited or else you might end up talking to yourself and that could put the whole time-space-continuum at risk—”
Kíli’s lids fell to half-mast when Master Fíli’s fingers began to knead the base of his skull.
“Right,” Kíli repeated, “Don’t talk to yourself.”
            “Absolutely noooOOOO-oooOOOoo-ACHOO!”
And up they went and down again, Fíli in his bundle and Kíli right onto the mountain of mugs.
            “Sorry,” Master Fíli sniffed miserably.
Kíli shifted to his feet, careful of broken pieces, and cast a spell to clean the mess and fix the mugs. “S’alright, Master Fíli.” He assured when the spell was complete, “Wasn’t your fault.”
Master Fíli gave him a watery smile.
“How about I make you something to help you sleep? We can talk about everything when you’re feeling better.”
“That would be lovely, Kíli, thank you.”
Kíli plucked a mug off the top of the mountain and made his way to the door.
            “And, Kíli?”
Kíli glanced back, “Yes?”
“How many times do I have to tell you not to call me Master.”
            “Right. Sorry, sir.”
Fíli groaned as if in great pain, “That’s so much worse.”
And then Fíli sneezed, the strength of his vocal magic propelling Kíli out the door, across the main room and, from the sounds of it, into one of the teetering bookshelves.
            “I’m okay!”

Fire & Stone AU: Bonds
The end of the Third Age, peace has come. Yet Glorfindel and Erestor find themselves in a bit of trouble with outdated customs.
In which elven high society, especially the line of Finwe, have rules and traditions to be followed for noble born elves. No exceptions.
An AU where the sons of Durin lived and Maglor resides now in Imladris some time before The Hobbit. OOC a high possibility, its all on me. Coughed out this random ficlet for fun and excuse for some family drama.
Things of note/warnings: none although maybe child acquisition? also, the writer's tolkien knowledge is rather rudimentary still so anything in here should just be taken as a pure AU. --- "Now this is a rare sight! A new age of peace and here you are, bested by an orc! My young commander, I see you have been slacking." Maglor strides in, his robes swishing quietly into the healing wing. "Don't antagonise the patient." Elrond prompts dryly from behind as he arranges his salves and bandages at the side to be cleared away by the other healers. "I would like to see you try to go up against a double ambush while trying to get the villagers to safety with a lean troop." Erestor grumbles from his spot in the bed, eyes closed, trying to focus in putting up his mental walls, blocking out the numb pain from his wretched shoulder from his mate. "A new age yet the foul damn creatures continue to be a pain in the ass."
"And I heard from Kili and Tauriel you picked up a gift along the way?" Maglor grins as he reaches out to pat the small lump buried into Erestor's better side. Only to be rewarded with a bite and a sharp cry as the old Feanorian quickly pulls his hand back to safety from the fiesty child on defensive.
A toddler who could barely walk really.
"And don't tease the elfling, Atya." Elrond admonishes softly though with a soft smile .The healer tries to brush away the messy silvery blond hair from the elfling's face, but pulls back when the child pulls away from his touch. The elfling resumes clutching onto Erestor like a baby squirrel.
"Unfortunately he seems to be an orphan long before the attack, being cared for by his fellow villagers all this while from what I heard. Still, the little one seems to have taken a great liking to his protector... I suppose its really a Feanorian trait to pick up little ones and be chosen by them." The Lord of Imladris slowly adds, his eyes alight with mischief much like his younger self.
Maglor chuckles under his breath at the statement with a shake of his head. Whereas the elfling simply stare at the father and son duo balefully, his eyes narrowed in a way that is reminiscence to a displeased Erestor. Before the little one huddles closer to the dark haired elf for comfort.
Erestor is quiet, as he lets the child do as he please, caressing the elfling's back before his eyes begain to droop, his body demanding for a healing sleep. Elrond leaves, leaving his adoptive father to watch over his old follower. Maglor then decides to sings a healing song for his old soldier that he have come to care for dearly. Its was too lovely a day to be without song anyway. and the weakened child could use some power from a Song after such an ordeal.
It was a while before the Singer notices Erestor trembling in his rest, almost in pain from what Elrond has deemed a normal wound. The elfling whimpers in worry. Maglor stops and sits on the bed instead to examine the clean bandages. Baffled, he puts his hand onto the younger elf's hand instead and tries to reach out with his weak fea to provide some comfort from the pain.
For a moment there is warmth, before something tingles, and pulls. Which causes Maglor jumps back in shock and the elfling to be startled in turn, before starting to cry. Its as if someone has dumped him into the Brunien before flinging his fea across the sea... So Maglor does the only reasonable thing in this situation- "ELROND!!" ---
Glorfindel is worried. Lately, he could hardly feel his mate through their young bond. (A bond! At long last, his beloved's fea melded with his own, singing ever so sweet. He have never felt so at peace and so complete with another heart beating with his own. ) As the escort of Celeborn, Galadriel and the Galadhrim to Imladris, the warrior had to be apart from his husband for a more than a few months, shortly after their bonding and their return from Gondor. It was a slow journey home, as he and his troops guided the elves awaiting to sail for the West to the last Homely House.
Last he heard before he left, there were news of stray orcs, stragglers along the borders. With all the administrative work delegated to others in the household and council, Erestor have taken upon himself to command some troops to check on the matter. Yet no messengers have come by with regards to any trouble and he felt no distress from Erestor, so there was some comfort in that. The Captain knows his husband is a master with his blades, the Chief Councillor skilled with his swords even after years of administrative work. However the lost of gentle nudges and touches from his mate is still concerning.
And if he had nudges Asfaloth a little faster upon spotting reaching the main bridge, no one was willing to call him out on it. What he had not expect was a pair of restless twins awaiting for their arrival at the end of it. "Greetings, Grandfather! Grandmother! We hope your journey has been smooth." Elladan greeted as Elrohir proceeded forward and they greeted their elders .Almost too formal, Glorfindel thought. "Elladan? Elrohir? I did not expect you both to greet us all the way out here. What trouble did you both get into this time?" Glorfindel grins at the twins.
"Ah ha! But its not us you should be worried about, dear Captain." Elrohir smirks while Elladan strides up and pats the Golden Elf wryly with a glint in his dark eyes.
"Its you."
-- In the twilight, Glorfindel grits his teeth as he is starting to be immensely annoyed that he is unable to at least find his husband first. Unable to even freshen up after days of travel, before he was whisked away by Elladan and Elrohir into the inner wings of the House. His bond with Erestor still quiet despite the proximity, even with the twins assuring that Erestor was in Imladris.
Following closely beside him, are the curious Lord and Lady of Lothlorien, both by the request of the twins' father.
"For support." Whatever that means. What greeted him at the large outdoor meeting chamber that Elrond favors, was the Lord of Imladris himself, sitting instead by the side seat of the long table. The head chair was empty. Further away, was unmistakably, though surprisingly, the second son of Feanor. As Maglor turns to greet the guests, Glorfindel sees clearly now. No longer dressed in his usual plain and unremarkable robes, but in elegant brocade and silk. Maglor's hair adorned with the style of old elves of a forgotten time with a beautifully crafted circlet adorned with small moonstones by a Master smith, marking his status as a noble.
Elladan and Elrohir gives a bow and steps slightly out by the corridor. Excusing themselves from this meeting. Something is wrong.
"My greetings, Laurefindil. You have finally returned. Now take a seat, I feel that we must have an urgent discussion." Maglor smiles and gestures to the seat on the opposite side of the table. Formal manners of court and Quenya. Not good. Glorfindel's warrior instincts are rising up.
"Galadriel, Celeborn, my greetings. As Glorfindel's cousin and family, please, pardon for a lack of hospitality but I'm afraid it must be done. Do take a seat as well beside your kin."
"What are you up to now, Maglor." Celeborn remarks flatly, trying to keep some basic civility with the Son of Feanor. plainly ignoring the use of Quenya entirely, and carefully leading his wife to her seat with Elrond guiding his in-laws.
Maglor does not grace with a reply but with a small smile, as he takes a seat at the head chair, hands clasps together before him. A warm air of quiet descends upon the noble born elves in the peaceful valley as time slows with only the sound of the waterfalls and music by the minstrels. A picture of serenity.
---
"So...what is the fuss for? Why is everyone crowding around the balconies and trees?" Kili asks as he observes the happenings around him, casually munching on an apple slice, and feeding Tauriel a slice as well.Being ever the doting husband.
The dwarven prince and his wife are perching precariously on a balcony railing with Thorin and Bilbo lounging nearby. The King Under The Mountain and his Consort both unbothered by the commotion.
They were simply enjoying the quiet afternoon with Bilbo's tea. Before dozens of curious denizens of the elven haven wandered into the public pavilion. From the maids to the council members, curious and eager about something.Their excitement and low murmurings like the rustling of the leaves.
And that something is happening right now.
---
Glorfindel's instincts are on high alert. But finally, impatience to reunite with his mate had won out. The Golden Lord chooses to strike on offensive.
"So, why have you called me here, Makalaure?" The Golden Lord of Gondolin begins. There was none of his usual humour.
"Long has it been since I must bear that name and even the responsibilities of a Lord. Though I care not but only for my family. My father and brothers no longer on these shores. Yet my sons and nephews were. I am ashamed to be a terrible Uncle and Father, unable to care for them until its too late." Maglor's voice wavers as he tries not to delve too deep into memories.
A careful strike has Glorfindel tensing up on defensive as he catches on to Maglor's words, but he remains silent. This is a problem.
"You were hurt and in sorrow, and you didn't know." Elrond reasons quietly, as he pats Maglor's shaking hands gently, as father and son share comfort in each other's presence for a moment.
"Alas, in this moment that I am able, I must do what is right, in place of my brother, or I shall not be able to face my younger brother and my family in the Void..."
Slowly, the old Lord turns back to Glorfindel, eyes alight. The last son of Feanor then demands-
"So tell me, Laurefindil. Did you think you can skip on tradition and wed my only nephew left without the proper procedure and rites worthy of the great-grandson of Finwe, grandson of Feanor? The son of Caranthir the Dark?"
The music goes silent, the air stills.
Celeborn and Galadriel sits higher at the revelation, with the Lord turning to his Lady in surprise and wonder. Only to receive a graceful shake of her head in silent reply by the great Lady of Lothlorien. So the two turn instead to the great Lord of the House of the Golden Flower, who is resisting the urge to show any reaction.
Well, shit.
---
Time froze before chaos breaks out in the Last Homely House. There were a range of emotions with gasps and confusion by the residents of Imladris, especially from the old Feanorians in the household.
A living descendant of Feanor? Son of Caranthir? Erestor? The youngest General under Maedhros and Maglor's command? Their Chief Councillor, the Tempest of Imladris? There were so many questions, one of the old followers had even begun to cry.
Kili looks around in confusion.
"Soooo context? Anyone?"
"Oh..oh dear." Tauriel murmurs quietly," I think I get it now and this isn't good." The elleth turns to her in-laws, "Also, Lord Maglor's circlet...did you both know about this?"
The elves all turn to the old King, who simply took his time to answer." As a friend and fellow uncle, it was the least I could do," and the dwarf takes a sip of his ale and left it as that.
"Why? I mean, is there like a problem here with Erestor being related to Maglor...or I dunno, something?" Kili continues, trying his best to wrap his head around this peculiar situation.
"Yes, and Lord Maglor is calling Lord Glorfindel and Lord Erestor's marriage into question as Erestor's elder. I believe he is displeased with the lack of a marriage contract in accordance to the Marriage Code."
He stares at Tauriel," We...Is this an elf thing? We didn't have that when we married?"
"I'm Silvan, dear. This only apply to the high born elves."
Kili blinks, and instead turns to Bilbo. Thorin sighs at his nephew pointedly and tiredly," Balin's going to flip if he hears this." His Hobbit chuckles at the younger dwarf's blank look before taking a moment to enlighten the younger dwarf.
"Its basically a procedure by both parties and their families. Before marriage and the binding of fea, nobles may undergo trials to prove the worthiness of their match. A terribly lengthy process."
"They are also assessed by their assets and wealth and status of 3 generations minimum. Before they dive deeper into binding agreements regarding their descendants, heirs, inheritance and the like. Down to even the minute details of scenarios like, what should happen if they fade or sail. Or if they reach Valinor should there be other lovers? Or any possible family feuds to address. Possibly even in unspeakable situations such as Separation, which what Men called a divorce. Something that dwarrow do not have as you all only have Ones. " Bilbo takes a quick puff of his pipe, "its a serious thing to the high born elves like those originally from the Valinor, and especially so to the line of Finwe."
There soon was some commotion down in the meeting hall where Maglor and Glorfindel's discussion were getting louder. The Son of Feanor has even gotten up from his chair to articulate something with a wide flair which the Golden Lord is trying to rebuke with obvious gestures. "Oh...It looks like the other party who is involved is here." Bilbo muses with an amused smile as he spots dark figure gliding by the corridors.
---
"-We have bonded with your's and Elrond's blessing have we not!?" Glorfindel tries to reason, the discussion now jumping back to Westron as he gets frustrated with the roundabout argument looping endlessly.
"That was without the knowledge that he is my blood kin! And how dare you keep this from us? Do you disrespect his roots?!" Maglor leans onto the table with both hands, unwilling to back down.
"We are almost in the Fourth Age, what use do we have any more of old redundant laws anyway?" Glorfindel shoots back, thinking back of all the tedious practices and rules from the Years of the Trees to his time in Gondolin, the stifling rules of nobility and how ridiculous it has gotten when he returned up till now.
"A Code that was implemented to protect the welfare of all involved! Remember the mess that involved my Grandfather and his wives! Even Elrond went through with the Code!"
Elrond hums in a detached sort of way as his eyes glazes over, not meeting his in-laws' eyes. He quickly pushes down the memories of the long and tedious marriage discussions and procedures before his marriage to Celebrian.
"Then I shall remind you of Thingol and Luthien and then look what that had nearly wrought as well!" Glorfindel snaps, his patience long gone. The Lord of the Golden Flower glowers back in fury, the balrog slayer’s eyes ablaze.
"Long has been our wish to be wed simply like any other eldar who are free from the bonds of duty and oaths that haunt us! We have beheld no other for several yeni till we felt we are free to live as we desire! Codes and Laws and Oaths all be damned!"
"My heart is Erestor's, as his is mine till the Remaking-Nay! Even after that! The only ones that matter in this relationship are myself and my mate! No other! May they be eldar or edain, maia or even the Valar themselves! I will not allow even you, Makalaure, to take away our joy simply for the sake of some out dated tradition! Our hearts are ours alone, is that not how it should be?!"
"OH! Then even if my nephew has your child? What then?!" the Son of Feanor waves with a flourish of his arm towards the entrance way. Glorfindel's mind grinds to a sudden halt as he then turns to Erestor who had arrived. Like a trickling dam, the warrior felt the connection to his mate burst forth and return with the lowering of Erestor's mental walls. A rush of warmth and fullness fill his fea before he felt his breath leave him in a rush. The yearning and love flowing down steadily while Glorfindel could only stare at his handsome mate striding in. The Chief Councillor ignoring the twin guards by the hall's entrance with a wave of his dark, loose robes in a flurry. His storm cloud, wild and fierce even with a tiny blond elfling in his arms, watching him with wide dark eyes...
Oh. Hold up.
"...What?"

Hello! I love your writing so much and I have random questions lol
Do you have a favorite chapter of reforged or reforged and strengthened? (Or a favorite scene, part, etc)
What’s your favorite or least favorite parts to write?
Do you have any tips for writing battle scenes? I love how you write the ones in reforged and reforged and strengthened, like the pacing and how you are able to communicate what’s going on not just in the battle but in the characters thought processes of it as well, and I’ve been struggling with writing my own (mainly because I’m very new to it and having trouble figuring it out 😅)
Thank you, and thank you so much for the amazing stories 💖💖💖 (and butter cake recipe I’ve made it so many times I love it!)
Hey love! Thank you so so much for the ask. This has made my day more than you know. Been feeling a bit glum lately.
I have so many favorite chapters, though most of them are in Reforged and Strengthened, I do have one in Reforged too. For Reforged, I love the chapter where Tauriel finds Kili again in Dale. The family coming together once more, the introduction of Naurfaer to Fili and Kili, their little Durins Day/Christmas, Tauriel finding out about Finli. It is just a comfort chapter to me. In Reforged and Strengthened...I actually love the chapter when Tauriel comes back from destroying the compound in ACT II. Her accepting Kili doesn't remember who she is, but also accepting her place in the family. I cry every time I read her saying goodbye to Naurfaer. "Goodbye Manwe." "Goodbye Galadriel." Their little inside joke is so precious to me. I don't know why...but it is. It is also includes Thranduil suggesting Tauriel stay in Mirkwood with Finli...it is such a bittersweet chapter, it hits my heartstrings hard. Though I also like the chapter underneath Dale, where Tauriel and Kili are having a little fight and she has the dream recalling her painful past, and the dragon. I think she needs more moments where she gets to release the pain she felt when she was young. Plus I always love it when Kili reminds her he loves her even when he is mad at her.
As for battle scenes...I like to think of those like a performance. If you ever watch dueling, it always looks like a dance, and I imagine each scene is a carefully choreographed moment, a tango of death if you will. As the scene moves on, the orchestra carries the momentum of the battle, rising in a great crescendo then slowly falling as the battle dies down. I also make sure I add in the personalities of those I am writing, some jokes for the lighthearted characters, and some rage from the not so light ones. As a writer, you are the camera from which everyone views your story, and each moment your write is the scene the readers will see. So once you have the music and dance of your battle ready, now it is time to film it in words and write it out. I like my readers to feel like they are there, seeing what I write, feeling these characters as if they were actual people whether that be from the characters eyes, or from the scope of a camera following them around. If you do choose to do it from the characters perspective, write as if you were playing them...what do they see, feel, hope...I hope this makes sense, lol. I try to make it as entertaining as possible without making it too mundane. Knowing your characters and how they would react to multiple situations is probably the most essential part of writing a battle scene. Will they glory in blood? Will they run from something they don't think they could fight? Will they choose to battle alone, or team up with someone? What is their choice in weapon? What is their breaking point? What is their motive for the battle? Would they risk everything to win...even their own life and family? Pride, humility, sacrifice...all key elements of a character you should know before throwing them into a battle situation. That, is my battle writing thought process, lol. It is a lot I know, but my head is filled with constant flows of questions and scenes. It is crazy. But I hope this helps you a bit. Sometimes you just have to go for it. Imagine your character(s) and just...throw them into a fight using their characteristics. Then when you are done, go back and add or take away to to edit the scene to make it what you want. Battles are hard, but also very fun to write. It gives amazing opportunity for character growth and understanding as very few leave without some scar either on their person, or their subconscious.
Mmmmm....butter cake. Now that, I want to make now. Lol. I am so glad you love it.
This story means so much to me, and to see others loving it to is beyond words amazing. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading and asking. :)

That Rings of Power Trailer
(apologies to Marvel fans, but Tolkien was my first fandom and there's a lot of discourse going on. I might create a secondary blog related to that...)
I've been thinking about the Rings of Power trailer and why it caused the reactions it did. It ran the gamut of 'What the hell was that?' to fans admitting through gritted teeth they will give it chance but not holding out a lot of hope.
It wasn't just about short haired elves, Galadriel in armor, and hobbits in the Second Age. It was missing familiar themes and elements. It missed teasing things that get fans excited, the things they WANT to see.
Go back and look at the first trailer for Fellowship of the Ring. Frodo standing on the road, the world compressing around him, the leaves flying in all directions, the ominous music.... the fans squealed 'The Black Riders!'
I admit I have issues with the Hobbit movie, but the sight of Bilbo running out of his front door to find the dwarves was exciting because it was a moment from the book we knew and loved. It was familiar. It struck a chord.
I know there isn't a lot written about the Second age, but there are some things we know. Imagine if we had seen a beautiful Numenorian city, a young man walking toward a white tree and someone calling out 'Isiludur!' he turns and we get a glimpse of the man when he was young. Or someone crafting a beautiful ring and the camera pans out and we see the elf that HAS to be Celebrimbor.... or a too beautiful to be a real elf speaking to Galdriel introducing himself as 'Anatar, the Lord of Gifts'. Those are the things fans are looking for. The familiar. The things we are looking for and what we want to see. That 'might' have hyped it up more for me. I don't know.
Original characters aren't a problem, as long as they don't distract from the main story. The little Rohan children in the Two Towers running away from conflict didn't detract. They fleshed out the main story. Hell, if Tauriel had just been a random elf hanging around Mirkwood, maybe I wouldn't have minder her so much. The point is, save the original characters for the story where we can make up our minds about them later, and let us see the familiar in the trailers and press photos. Yes, I know we saw Galadriel and Elrond, but I want to see the 'new' people. So far the only person who has garnered my interest is the short clip of whom I assume to Gil-Galad.
I suspect that maybe they're saving the canon characters to be revealed within the story itself, but they're doing it backwards. Maybe at some point I'll care about 'Bronwyn' and 'Theo' or the random proto-hobbit, (that is if I last that long with it) but at the moment, I dont' care.

hello! can i request something funny with thranduil? ony if you're comfortable with writing itof course.
he took y/n in *like Elnord did with Aragorn* but she is a huge troublemaker, always pulling pranks on elves or sneaking to the woods and putting herself in danger, giving him many heart attacks in the process, yet he can't stop loving her.
*screams* I love this !! Of course I’ll write something based on this ! Let’s go !!
Erevan Ilesere’s Petal
Tumblr media
Pairing: Thranduil x Immortal! Reader
Warnings: Cavity Inducing fluff, Angst if you squint, Decent writing ??
Summary: No matter how much of annoyance Y/N is,Thranduil cannot stop adoring his lady.
..............
Erevan Ilesere ; The elven god of mischief and tricks
Nobody knew who Y/N was, what she is, where she is from or why was she found in the center of the clearing at the heart of the forest Mirkwood. Neither did she. She knew nothing of herself except her name. But that didn't intrigue Thranduil, the blue petal mark etched on her skin did.
The battle of the five armies had been a turning point in Thranduil’s life, he was at calm with himself, but at the same time he felt lonely. He let his son go on an adventure that he’d not know when he would return from, he was at peace with his wife’s death. He had to let her go.Though she would always have a special place in his heart. He had to focus more on his people, flourish his kingdom and move on. But he felt empty.
He felt alone.
So went he found Y/N heavily injured at the clearing, he didn’t hesitate to take her in.
Y/N was different. Not in normal mannerisms she was not. It was unexplainable. She was different.
After she was taken in by Thranduil and healed, she said she knew nothing of her kin or where was born. All she remembered that she had been living the life of a ranger for as long as she recalls.
She had always been alone.
But that never stopped her from being vocal. She was bold, so bold that she would barge into the court meetings to give the most random suggestions, make jokes or even put flowers in Thranduil’s crown during it. And he would always let her, sometimes even smiling.
The elves didn’t expect it. Valar! No one on Middle Earth would have.
Y/N became the most adored individual in the entirity of Mirkwood. She made the place happier, the forest was healing and things got better.....
But everyone has things others do not enjoy about themselves. Y/N did too. She was chaos in a bottle.
Once she had covered onions with caramel and gave it to the palace guards claiming they were caramel apples. The other time she had paired along with with Mëludir, Lindir’s brother who was at Mirkwood and had filled the sweet Lembas bread with mayonnaise instead of cream which had everyone at the dinner table spit it out except Elrond who as wierd as it seemed, took a liking to it. She had put a rat inside Tauriel’s hair, having her scream across the hall. And Rumil and her had filled Haldir’s shoe with mud which had forced the two to hide for the entire day later with Y/N hiding behind Thranduil and his robes flinching everytime Haldir was yelling at her.
“Lady Y/N this is not a joke I had those shoes cleaned yesterday and now you have ruined them! And Rumil you are no less! Is this how you treat me? Your Gwanur(brother)?? Lady Y/N that is not it-”
“Haldir enough leave her be”,Thranduil ordered as he hid you behind him even more as you clenched his robes.
“But-”
“I had helped her put the rat in Tauriel’s hair....are you going to discipline me too?”
“Apologies nin aran (my king), I am just simply worried she will get herself in trouble.....”
“Hmmm you are dismissed.”
With that Haldir had left pulling Rumil along with him. Thranduil looked down to see Y/N poking her head out from behind him and giving him the biggest and most sweetest smile possible. The elven king let out a chuckle as he shook his head. Freezing when she gave him a hug before she ran out mouthing a thank you.
Thranduil would always side Y/N, even if he wouldn’t admit that she would scare the life out of him everytime she would do something dangerous, the others would warn him about the dangers she puts herself into but he would refuse to believe them. It wasn’t that he believed she wouldn’t do something like that but it was because he believed Mirkwood would be impossible for her to get out of without help.
But oh how wrong he was.
Ever since Y/N came to Mirkwood a few decades ago Thranduil’s daily schedule had always been the same. Wake up, do formal chores (like bathing, having breakfast with Y/N etc.) ,attend court and hear his people out, roam around palace halls or in the kingdom, spend his free time with Y/N and then spend his time researching something in the library before sleeping. This night was no different except there was an erractic knocking on the library doors. Y/N’s lady in waiting pushing through with a very alarmed look on her face. Thranduil cocked an eyebrow at her, ready to yell at her to disturb him at this time of the night. But the look on her face made him wait for an answer.
“Your Majesty, Lady Y/N she- she-”
“I would appreciate if you complete your sentence”
“She dissapeared !”
Thranduil’s eyes widened. An unfamiliar look passing across his face as he unseathed his sword and speed walked out of the library.
“HALDIR !”
“Lord Haldir and the patrolling team is looking for her in the city right now my lord ! She is nowhere to be found !”, the elleth contiued following him.
“SEARCH EVERY CORNER OF THE KINGDOM !” ,he yelled at her before mounting his elk and riding into the forest.
He searched for her, by the clearing, the spiders nestings, the old bridge, the narrow pathway that lead to the darker parts of the forest. But she was nowhere.
“Y/N !?”,he yelled for the 14th time, his voice hoarse is eyes seaching frantically. Orcs and Wargs always preyed at night it wasn’t safe.
Splash
He heard the movement of water not much far from where he was he panicked, his elk moving swiftly but gracefully enough to not startle whatever was making the noises but this action was quite ruined by Thranduil yelling out the missing lady's name startling everyone before his eyes. Both him and his elk froze. There Y/N sat, by the backwaters looking at them with eyes widened as big as saucers, along with who seemed like mermaids that swam away as soon as they saw the elven king splashing Y/N with water wetting her completely.
“Thranduil? W-What are you doing here?”,she stuttered.
Thranduil moved closer to her watching as she visibly tried hiding something behind her back. He noticed how she was barefoot and scratches and cuts littered across her feet making his jaw clench.
“What are YOU doing here?”, the blonde elf hissed clearly angry but Y/N couldn’t point out why. Before she could even reply he yanked her hand from behind her back before stilling completely. His eyes unmoving from the contents in her hands. Forget me not flowers..... They had stopped growing in Mirkwood years ago. Drooping and dying more every moment the royal family distanced itself from each other, In grief, pain and misery.
“Where did you-”, ah the cuts on her feet, the dirt on her hands.....she brought them from out of the forest...
“I had seen them on our trip back from Rivendell months ago.....They were dying....I asked the mermaids to help me save them with spells, but you came interrupting them....”,she said in a soft voice, on the verge of tears breaking Thranduil out of his trance as he panicked, cupping her face with his larger hands. “I am sorry Lady Y/N I was simply worried about you, why did you not tell me? I could have helped you...”,he asked looking directly into her eyes as she poorly attempted to not shed any tears. “I didn’t want to bother you. I already bother everyone else. I don’t want to loose all of you..”, she said, tears unevitably falling and rolling down her cheeks. Oh... She thought she was alone...she had never asked for help from anyone....she felt insecure no matter how much everyone loved her....he knew someone who was like her few decades ago.
Him.
“You could never !”,he intended to say softly but it came out as a yell, making the woman flinch. He was mad, at himself for not noticing, for dismissing hints. “You would never......we care for you too much. Valar ! I care about you too much ! Everytime you do something dangerous my heart leaps....but I cannot resist your eyes, your words, you tempting smile.....Look at me....I do not wish to loose you like lost the rest of my people I cared about......”, Thranduil finished, his face only a finger distance away from the girl. “What are you doing to me Y/N ?”, he whispered, the other still trying to process everything. “Can I kiss you”, she whispered back. “Please...”,Thranduil said, his voice almost coming out as if he was begging.
And she did as the king asked, lips moving softly yet with love, for the first time in his entire life, the blond elf had let himself be completely vulnerable. His posture, his personality melting, almost as if a light glow covered around them. Even his dragon fire scar revealing itself for the first time to Y/N as they broke the kiss. Thranduil didn’t flinch when touched it, when she left a lingering kiss on it, smiling that wide smile he adored so much at it. The stayed that way before she leaned into his chest for a while, his arms around her. “No matter how much chaos you create I will never hate you...”, he said as he took in her scent.
Splash!
The voice echoed startling the two as the separated from each other, their faces red, only to see the group of mermaids hiding behind the rocks, their eyes on Y/N’s hands
The flowers were back alive and blooming....
That was the moment Thranduil knew that he had faced dragon fire once, but for his Lady he would face it again and again. He couldn’t help adoring her.
Back at the palace library the book was well forgotten, the pages flipping till it rested on a particular page littered with blue petals
Erevan Ilesere‘s Petal, his descendant on Middle Earth.
But that is a story I, Gandalf will tell you another time.
--The End--

rose & oak
Pairing: Sigrid/Tauriel
Rating: G
Word Count: 1.5k
Summary/Tags: Sigrid & Tauriel encounter a bit of a misunderstanding.
[Read on Ao3]
--
“Which ones?” Sigrid looked up at her sister, feeling more lost than had in a long time as she sat on the floor of her bedroom, neat and tidy rows of freshly picked flowers surrounding her. They were all done up in cute little bundles, the ends of their stems snipped and wrapped in damp cloth before being brought up to Sigrid’s chambers.
She was still trying to get used to being a lord’s daughter after all of these years - the simple ease of having requested a small bundle of flowers from the florist had turned into a day’s long fiasco of sifting through nearly every bloom variety that was available in and around Dale and it was ridiculous .
“For the fifty- thousandth time , I don’t know,” Tilda groaned, rolling her eyes. Not that she would say it aloud, but Tilda did distinctly remember telling Sigrid that perhaps doing more research or even just asking Tauriel about elven courting rituals before ordering the flowers would be the best course of action. Yet, here they were. Hundreds of flowers. No clue as to which flowers were the right flowers.
And it wasn’t like there were any other elves around that they could ask. Tilda and Bain had already gotten just about everything they could out of Legolas the last time he and his father had visited Dale - and in the end, it hadn’t even resulted in that much information.
“You should just ask Tauriel. At this rate you run the risk of insulting her if you go about picking random ones,” Tilda said. Sigrid ran a hand down her face and looked over the flowers surrounding her. Carefully, she picked up one of the bundles and twisted it between her fingers.
“Poppies,” Tilda said, flopping down on Sigrid’s bed and propping her head up on her hands, “Da always says that bad omens come with poppies.” Sigrid huffed and placed them to the side.
Sigrid sighed as she moved on to pick up another - a bundle of white roses this time.
“Roses are romantic?” Sigrid said, though it sounded more like a question than an answer.
Tilda hummed in affirmation. There was a knock at the door and she moved to answer it. Sigrid put her head in her hands and set the roses to the side.
Bain shuffled in, looking a bit frazzled, with a rather thin and old book in his hands.
“I found it!” He grinned at Sigrid. Her eyes lit up, hoping for an end to this madness.
Bain turned the book in his hands, rubbing his thumb over the front of the cover, “I knew there was a book on elves somewhere in the library, it just took me a while to find it. Hopefully this’ll shed some light on your predicament.” Bain grinned again and cracked open the book, leafing through the pages.
“Elves, elven culture, elven agriculture, elven languages, and elven bonds.” Bain’s face scrunched up as he turned the last page, flipping back through the book and going through it again, “Give me a moment.”
Sigrid sighed and picked up another bundle, this one of yellow roses. Next to it, there was a bundle of deep blue roses. She picked those up as well and put them together, the yellow reminding her of Tauriel and the blue reminding her of herself. Perhaps that would work? Roses were probably a safe bet, right?
“Here!” Bain shouted excitedly and Tilda shushed him.
“Quiet, we don’t need Da busting in here and finding out about Sigrid’s intentions to court Tauriel yet.” Tilda huffed and then gestured for Bain to continue.
“It says that elves give special meanings to different flowers - which we already knew - and it also says that the giving of certain flowers usually represents the beginning of a courtship - just like Legolas mentioned the last time he was here. Roses,” Bain grinned down at Sigrid and the roses in her hands, “Roses, tulips, daffodils, and daisies are typically given to begin elven courtship!”
Sigrid let out a long breath, “Thank the stars,” Sigrid stood and took the book from Bain’s hands, laying it gently on her bedside table.
“Thank the stars all you want, but I was the one who found the book.” Bain said, grinning. Sigrid chuckled and tugged him into a long, crushing bear hug that only ended when he started squirming to be let go.
Tilda and Bain left shortly after, taking the flowers that Sigrid had not chosen with them. What they planned on doing with them, she knew not, and she knew better than to ask at this point.
------
The next morning, Sigrid woke just as the sun rose, her heart already fluttering away in her chest as she set about getting ready for her day. She was to meet Tauriel in the meadow just outside of the outskirts of Dale - a monthly tradition they'd picked up about a year and a half ago now. They would each bring snacks and blankets, lie back against a nice, old oak tree, and they would talk for hours. Sigrid anxiously looked forward to it every month, this month even more so, as she had finally, finally decided to rule up all of her courage to present Tauriel with a courting gift.
Sigrid took a deep breath as she wrapped the ends of her little makeshift bouquet and bundled it up in clean white cloth. She tied a nice blue ribbon around the cloth and tucked it gently into her picnic basket before heading off toward the meadow.
It was always a pleasant walk, but this time Sigrid couldn't help her nerves getting to her. By the time she'd reached the city's edge and the tall oak tree came into view in the distance, her heart was already in her throat and she was seriously debating running back to her chambers and forgetting the entire thing. But she carried on, step by step getting closer until she could make out Tauriel - already sitting cross-legged under the oak tree, her fiery hair pulled back in a long braid. She looked beautiful , Sigrid thought, fingers tensing around the handle of her basket.
“Sigrid,” Tauriel called out as she got closer, and Sigrid's heart jumped at just how fond Tauriel sounded as she said her name. “I'm glad you made it safely, mellon nín.”
Tauriel smiled at her, soft and warm, and Sigrid returned it with a tittering nervousness that she knew Tauriel could see, but her friend was kind enough not to point it out. Now or never, Sigrid’s brain supplied, and she settled herself down on the blanket.
“I wanted to give you these,” Sigrid said as she carefully took the bundle out of her basket and handed it over. Tauriel’s eyes widened.
“Sigrid,” Tauriel breathed as she unwrapped the cloth, “You did not have to--” Tauriel cut herself off as she saw the flowers, breath catching in her throat, and Sigrid’s heart was pounding now. She swore she’d never been this nervous in her life, really. She studied Tauriel’s face for what seemed like an eternity - watching for any small sign to give her hope that the elf returned her feelings.
Tauriel’s mouth twisted into something unreadable and then a small smile crossed her face. She looked up at Sigrid and brought the bundle close to her chest.
“Thank you,” Tauriel said, her voice a bit too uneven for Sigrid’s liking. She sounded upset, and that had definitely not been the goal of this.
Sigrid bit the inside of her cheek and took in a deep breath.
"Do you not like them?" Sigrid asked, and when Tauriel didn't immediately reply, she stammered on, "Are they not...are they not right? We - I - tried to figure out which ones were the right ones and the book said roses were the right choice for courting but I guess I don't-"
Tauriel placed a gentle hand on Sigrid's thigh and she stopped suddenly, rambling halted at the warmth of Tauriel's fingers splayed over her skirt. She looked curiously at Sigrid, her head cocked to the side as her eyes searched Sigrid's face. And then something seemed to click in Tauriel's mind, her eyes sparkling for a brief moment before her mouth turned up in a grin.
"Roses indeed." Tauriel chuckled, shifting closer. Sigrid held her breath as Tauriel's hand found her own, her thumb brushing over Sigrid's knuckles as she came to rest their foreheads together. She was so close. Sigrid could feel the warmth of her breath ghosting over her lips as Tauriel twined their fingers together.
" Sigrid, " Tauriel breathed, but Sigrid wasn't really registering what she was saying at that point. She closed the short distance between them, brushing her lips over Tauriel's in a soft kiss.
When they pulled back from each other, Tauriel was still smiling, and Sigrid took that as perhaps a good sign that she had not entirely messed this up.
"So those roses -" Sigrid began, but Tauriel just pulled her into another kiss.

☕️ star wars rebels bc I have to
I LOVE! I'm always hesitant to recommend this show because it is meant for a much younger audience and many people aren't fans. But Rebels is actually arguably what got me into Star Wars. I don't even know where to start or what to say so I'm just gonna throw random stuff I like. Kanera is my favorite ship second only to Tauriel and Killi in the Hobbit. Ezra develops SO much and you feel as if you're growing with him. The insight we get into Mandalorian culture is so cool! Watching Mandalorian and knowing EXACTLY what the dark saber was, was a cool moment for me. Twi'lek representation! We always have Twi'lek slaves are background characters but having a strong, independent, free, Twi'lek meant so much, idkw. As far as know, Kanan's blindness was handled very well. It was a big part of his character, it moved plot forward, it was addressed just enough, we were allowed to laugh about it at times (which is important!) and it wasn't a pity story. Hera. Just her. Sabine too. Callus's redemption. The banter. The found family. The biological family when it comes to Sabine. Hando my love! He was scary in clone wars but now he's just an old harmless comedic relief. I could go on and on but it's getting late 😭.

There was a lot that PJ altered in The Hobbit to fit his Action Trilogy narrative tbh, and I think a lot of it revolves around the shoehorned romance between Kili and Tauriel. After all, what’s a movie without a romantic subplot? /eyeroll. LotR was easy - it had Aragorn/Arwen built in and all he had to do was emphasize it.
He also wanted to make Thranduil cool and give him an edgy bit of plot importance, hence his shallow personality, and he added Legolas for several reasons - not just his “It would make sense if Legolas was there(not wrong)” reason. It added to Thranduil’s edgy arc, it supported Tauriel’s “love triangle(l m a o),” and it brought Orlando Bloom back to the set - fans like Legolas and Orlando Bloom.
Thranduil’s interrogation of Thorin was different in the movie because his motives were different, and his personality was different. He was clinging to his late wife’s necklace or something, because he missed her so much he was ignoring his son(?), and he wanted the necklace back, hence his conversation with Thorin.
Thorin said no because he hates Thranduil on a personal level, which wasn’t a thing in the book.
The Woodland Elves in general were portrayed as assholes to make their opposition of Thorin more Classic Villain, thus supporting Edgy Thranduil.
The Necklace was a very sad, clumsy way to reinforce Thranduil’s Edge - instead of being a random pearl necklace gifted to him by Bilbo at the end of the book that triggered a lighthearted moment of friendliness and mirth and expressed positive character traits on both sides, it was an item Thranduil desired specifically(oddly named The White Jewels of Lasgalen*) to support his dbag personality and add to the sad backstory of Legolas’s mom.
As for Tauriel.
Ha! As for Tauriel, a lot happens here to make her romantic subplot relevant. THANKFULLY, despite Thranduil’s words and the love triangle’s supposed importance**, Legolas doesn’t actually seem to have romantic feelings for Tauriel whatsoever. There is no evidence of that, and for the life of me I can’t tell if that’s intentional.
Thranduil’s Edge intersects nicely with Tauriel’s Romantic Subplot when he snarls at her because he thinks Legolas has a crush on her, and again when they disagree over helping the dwarves in the Battle of Five Armies.
There’s also Bard and Thranduil’s position as leaders in the Battle of Five Armies - their stance is completely reversed in the movies. In the book, Bard is the one who wants to fight Thorin for the treasure and Thranduil very much does not want to do that.
*Lasgalen wasn’t a Thing in the Hobbit. The forest’s name was Eryn Galen millennia ago, then recently changed to Mirkwood, and Thranduil changed it to Eryn Lasgalen 60 years later, at the end of the War of the Ring. **You cannot convince me that a love triangle actually existed. At no point did Legolas show interest in Tauriel, he actively helped her do things for the sake of her dwarf love interest, at the end of the movie he left without saying goodbye to her(seemingly over his anger with Thranduil), and she didn’t even seem worried that he might be interested in her. I genuinely can’t tell if Thranduil was supposed to come off as needlessly paranoid, or if that was accidental. It would definitely still support his edgy personality.

Things that happened in the Kili/Tauriel fic I wrote when I was 12
Tauriel somehow heals every single elf, man, and dwarf who died in the battle of 5 armies with her necklace
Tauriel tries chucking a dead bat at a troll to distract it, and is surprised when it does nothing (like uh…that’s gonna work…yeah…)
Kili throws a sword and somehow impales it through aforementioned troll’s head (???)
Kili and Tauriel just stop in the middle of fighting and stare at each other
A random elf OC called Lethondreel shows up, saves Tauriel’s life, and then threatens to shoot her a moment later if she doesn’t go talk to Thranduil
Tauriel explains that she loves Kili because (and I quote) “he is kind, and brave, and fights well” (what the heck??? Why would you love someone because they fight well???)
Lethondreel threatens to shoot Tauriel again for being in love with Kili (um…)
The Wood Elves apparently detest the Elves of Rivendell
Gandalf and Elrond have an entire conversation about how they can separate Kili and Tauriel
Lethondreel shoots Kili, then tries to kill Tauriel as well, just because she didn’t love him (I am becoming very concerned for 12 year old me’s ideas of what love is)
Tauriel sings a random song about the Moon dancing
Tauriel and Kili are just chilling in a tree, and suddenly they see Elrond creeping up towards them to supposedly kidnap Tauriel and take her away from Kili
Elrond tells Tauriel that she, an elf who lives in the forest, wouldn’t be able to survive in the wild. Tauriel then says, “I am an Elf. No Elf will cast aside their ways and starve in the wilderness” like bro what the heck does that mean???
Kili tells Tauriel that it isn’t possible for them to be together; Tauriel runs off, and Kili finds out that Gandalf cast a whole freaking spell on him so he would tell Tauriel their relationship wasn’t possible
Tauriel cries at one point, and elanor flowers grow from her tears
Plot twist!! Gandalf and Elrond turn out to be imposters; Tauriel is then like “oh yeah, elves don’t act like Elrond did, he must be fake” like. Bro. What do elves act like?? And have you heard of Fëanor???
Gandalf’s impersonator is this random elf dude who is in love with Tauriel. She has to choose between him and Kili (even though?? She loves??? Kili???) and she ends up saying, “I pick NEITHER OF YOU” like oUcH, that’s some serious damage
Anyway that’s where I stopped writing
But it was SO BAD

20 first lines tag game
this comes from @zmlorenz and also I think @amillionwips — thank you both!
rules: list the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20 stories just list them all). see if there are any patterns. choose your favourite opening line. then tag others.
(I will tag @writingbyjillian @pamsdrabbles @sleepyowlwrites and anyone who wants to play!)
Hurricane
Tempest stilled her bouncing leg, eyeing her sleeping husband. Had she woken him? She took a careful breath and didn’t let it go until he snored and rolled over, pulling the covers tighter around himself. Still she waited. One breath. Two breaths. When he still didn’t move, she stood up and grabbed her coat and sword belt, not even bothering to put them on. Because she had to leave, and she had to leave today.
Theo x Aella Little Mermaid AU
Water closed over his head, tugged at his clothes. Tugged him down… down…
He wanted to cry out for help, but the water filled up his mouth before he could make a sound. Cold stole into his limbs, heavy and dark, weighing him down.
His chest ached, searching for air. Deep, cold darkness wrapped around him. Dragging, pressing, pulling down.
Down… down… down…
When he’d hit the water, he’d panicked. That was gone now. All he felt was the cold, the deep dark cold.
a random post-canon Theo x Aella oneshot
Thunder rumbled overhead, blending into the drumming of the rain on the roof. Aella tucked her blanket more tightly around herself, but it did no good. She couldn’t sleep. She couldn’t keep her mind off the locked front door, Alanna’s instruction to stay inside. It felt too much like other locked doors. Every time she closed her eyes, she was back there again and—
No. Sitting in this bed alone with her thoughts would do no good.
a post-canon Theo x Aella oneshot (sort of the former version of the one above)
“Read the mermaid one again.” Aella snuggled against Theo, pressed up between him and the arm of the big old armchair.
a Theo x Aella modern AU
Even with a map on his phone, Theo was impressed he’d made it to the small cafe on the main street. True, it was the main street, but his new house wasn’t, and directions weren’t his forte. Given how recently he’d moved, it was at least understandable.
The cafe was small, but its list of drink options was larger than he’d expected. But it included several types of tea, so he ordered a familiar English Breakfast and sat down at the nearest table.
post-canon oneshot of the Hurricane women play ‘theatre’
“So, who’s up next?” Aria stretched out in her hammock. “As much as I enjoyed being the defence lawyer, I think it’s someone else’s turn.”
“I’ll play the accused. I want to try my daring escape again,” Aella volunteered, sitting up.
Theo grinned. “Because you got caught last time?”
a crossover royalty AU with another project (Labyrinth)
(this isn’t the first line, but it’s the first lines where Theo appears. also, you would be correct if you assume that the Spanish princess is not Aella. that is the complication.)
“Spain confirmed the marriage alliance,” said Jared. “We still have to confirm it one last time, though.”
Theo glanced up at his dad. “Hardly surprising, really. They offered it, after all.”
Jared nodded. “Are you still alright with this? We can turn them down now, if you want.”
“My calendar is free,” said Theo, straight-faced. “I mean, it’s not like I’ve got my eye on someone else or whatever. Just as long as I’m not expected to actually have a romantic relationship with the Spanish princess.”
the below are all fanfictions. [ps my AO3 is @/ sidebysidewithafriend go check it out if any of these fics interest you]
Shadow and Cottontail (Harry Potter: Marauders (OC insert))
(this is co-written, I’m posting the first part that I wrote)
“Is there mail today?” Kai Lupin jumped the last step down to the dining room. This was the same question she’d been asking for five days, but she asked anyway.
Her mother Hope was about to answer when an owl swooped through the open window, a parchment envelope clutched in its beak.
“I think the answer is yes,” said Remus, descending the stairs behind her with a little more care than she’d taken. Kai rolled her eyes and crossed the room to see what the envelope contained.
Hope was already taking it from the owl. “It’s from Hogwarts,” Hope said, and Kai’s heart leapt, only to be dashed by her mother’s next words. “But there’s only one envelope. It’s addressed to you, Kai.”
Told You You’d Kill It (Harry Potter: Romione)
“Ugh.” Ron shoved his books to one side and ran a hand through his hair, making it stick up in all different directions. Hermione hid a smile as Ron drew his hands inside his jumper sleeves.
Through a yawn, he continued, “I’m done. I’m so tired.” Probably from his basketball training, but schoolwork was also a struggle for him, she knew. And they’d been studying in the library for several hours now. No wonder he was exhausted.
Thank You For Saving My Cat (Harry Potter: Jily)
Lily pushed herself up to a sitting position and breathed a small sigh of relief. At least she was out. She turned back to the house, watching the orange flames that danced over the structure with her heart in her throat. Was it her imagination, or were they growing smaller?
Most of her stuff could be replaced. But she hoped nonetheless that she wouldn’t have to.
Then she remembered the one thing she’d left behind and couldn’t replace. Crookshanks. She stumbled to her feet. Legs shaking under her, she ran to the nearest firefighter and grabbed their sleeve. The firefighter gear covered its occupant’s face, but the voice sounded male. “Are you alright?” He took her arm gently, steadying her.
3AM (Harry Potter: Wolfstar)
The beeping of the fire alarm filtered into Sirius’s sleeping brain, burrowing in until he couldn’t help but wake up. At which point he groaned and wrapped his pillow around his head, trying to block out the noise.
But this was a fire alarm, so really he had to get up. Grudgingly, he removed the pillow from his head and fumbled for his phone to check the time. The light from the screen was blinding in the darkness of his dorm room, but after a moment his eyes adjusted to see that it was 3:07 AM.
Give Him Back to Me (The Great Library: Wolfe x Santi)
Day 1
“Nic?” Wolfe half-rose from the bed at the sound of knocking, leaving his Codex open beside him. Something was off, though. Nic wouldn’t knock. He had a key. Besides, Nic was away in Belgium, training a new company. He wasn’t due back for another day or two, and that was assuming everything went to plan.
Nevertheless, when the knock came again he got to his feet and headed for the door.
Death Is Not Fair (Shadowhunters: (very angsty) Malec)
It wasn’t fair. Then again, life wasn’t fair.
And neither was death.
It shouldn’t have happened. It should have been a simple mission. The scans and all the reports had said there was just one demon in the area. It was a larger, stronger demon, and would’ve put up a good fight, but it was still practically nothing to a Shadowhunter like Alec.
Untitled (Shadowhunters: Sizzy) (unfinished and un-posted)
Izzy was swearing off dating. She’d kind of thought about it before, but hearing about the amount of drama in Jace’s love life right now cemented the idea firmly in her mind. No more dating. Between that and the mess Alec had gone through a couple of months ago, she wasn’t sure she wanted any part of that. Not to mention that of all the boys she’d dated, none of the relationships had really been right. Did she believe in The One? She wasn’t sure. But none of her boyfriends had been it, that was for sure. So no more dating for her. She was here to study forensic chemistry, after all, and surely it was better to concentrate on that.
Moving Day (Riordanverse: Blitzstone)
Last? signed Hearth.
Blitz brushed a speck of dust from the shoulder of his shirt, studying Hearth’s face. He knew exactly how many boxes were left to move, and it was more than zero, but the elf was looking paler than usual. If that was possible. As he watched, Hearth swayed a little and put a hand on the wall for support. “No. But I’ll get the rest. You need a break.”
Untitled quarantine AU (Riordanverse: Percabeth) (unfinished and un-posted)
“Thanks for letting me stay over to finish this project,” said Annabeth, setting the last piece on the model Coliseum she’d made. They’d done most of it last night, and she was just adding the finishing touches now. Although that had been before school had been shut down; they’d been notified the night before, but since she was here she’d been determined to finish it.
Untitled (The Hobbit) (I have a “better version of Tauriel’s arc” thing in the works, and this is an accompanying oneshot of how the Durins died in this version) (un-posted)
“Where is he? It looks empty. I think Azog has fled.” Fili glanced around nervously, his breath steaming in the icy air.
“I don’t think so,” said Thorin.
Footsteps sounded on the ice, echoing in all directions. It was impossible to know their source.
“We’ve got company,” Thorin growled.
Kili readied his sword.
This was practically everyday for them at this point. Every motion of his sword, every footstep, every bit of it was familiar. Fili hardly had to think. His sword flashed in the faint light. Droplets of blood and crystals of ice spattered his exposed skin, hot and cold. He was at home here; he might not have been on the ice before, but with a sword in his hand and Kili and Thorin at his back, he was content.
this is VERY long. if you read to here, thank you! and maybe consider reading some of them in full on my AO3?
