Favourite Music Video
My favourite music video is Hate by Loyle Carner. In this music video Loyle Carner is in a car driving slowly along a road and we are looking from the perspective of the passenger seat. In the beginning as some credits are coming up it cuts to snippets of him very animated and looks as if he is shouting at the passenger which is meant to be as if it is us, as the drums in the beat start and stop. As he is rapping he slowly raps more intensely and seemingly angry at the car behind him as you can see he constantly looking in his mirrors and behind him. Eventually the car behinds starts trying to overtake him and he starts getting very angry whilst he is rapping. He is doing all this whilst rapping about things he hates which in the lyrics are much deeper things but in the music video it is seemingly something petty. Then once he gets out the car the beat gets more intense and the camera zooms out to reveal the passengers of the car are more Loyle Carners who are also very animated whilst rapping which makes whoever is watching feel quite weird and then once the driver Loyle Carner gets back in with a bloody nose and he is very angry now then the other Loyle Carners start trying to pull him into the back which they eventually do and then it zooms out and the whole car is full of multiple Loyle Carners pressed up against the windows all trying to fit in which fits with some of the lyrcis throughout the song that have to do with fitting in and feeling like you can't which is a reason i like the music video. His emotions within the video match the lyrics and the song title Hate. Also at the end of the track you can see it says HGU at the end of the numberplate which elludes to the closing track on his album which is titled HGU which I like because this is the opening track for the album. Another big reason is that it does what the music video is intended to do; make you feel uncomfortable in some way and that is what Loyle Carner wanted to do as he posted after the music video was uploaded "Art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable".🚗

!! we're mutuals but i only read your byf just now and as a lowkey bts fan (i listen to the music and are kept vaguely up to date by the one fan account i follow) can you explain why they're problematic?
lmao imma start putting a code word or smth in there for ppl to send me bc i’d appreciate if ppl read that before following me - but they have a history ( like most of the kpop industry ) of being anti black , appropriation of black culture , between the leader wearing braids and a fro , to our dress styles , they’ve taken photo shoots at a holocaust memorial , theyve appropriated native culture , a member ( j.imi.n. ) has used the n-word many times ( and the korean equivalent along with making dark skin jokes ) they continue to appropriate black culture by the way they dress , dance , rap , ect. to this very day like.... ho.seok wants to be black so bad.....so bad , but just look it up so many ppl have evidence i really wasn’t gonna answer this no offense but like .... they’re the biggest group out there arguably and despite a few acknowledgements of some of their problematic things, they continue to just be .... lol gross..

Strafe “Set It Off” Hard Soul label pressing (1984, 2014)
Repressed for the 30th anniversary of Strafe’s most popular hit, distributed by Fraternity Music Group, which helped re-release Manzel’s “Midnight Theme” (1979). Also well remembered for Method Man paraphrasing them on his very first verse on wax through The Wu-Tang Clan’s “Protect Ya Neck” (1992): “movin' on your left, uh! / and set it off...” Memorable indeed.

Putain Kaaris c'est la matière première du rap. C'est du pur et c'est trop bon.

Fuck, Kaaris is like raw material for rap. It's pure and too good.

What sort of things would you like to see from the future music? What are your hopes and headcanons for what we can expect in the next chapter? I personally have a weakness for the Arabic / Desert themed music, what is your opinion on it?
Things I’d like: honestly, just a continuation of what’s been done so far. I don’t have any real problems with any of the music so imo there’s nothing major to improve on. The only thing I could ask for is perceptible lyrcis in any tracks that have lyrics
My hopes and headcanons: I very much hope that Ozawa-san shows off his passion and talent for music with the Arabic-style music like he did with the tribal music for Savanclaw. I don’t doubt that he did- I mean just listen to Scarabia’s theme (which I will analyze after this). Headcanons wise, I’ve always figured Kalim and Jamil would have a more modern feel to them, like Ignihyde (not that the other dorms feel old, but they’re not like... as involved with current social trends I guess??)... for example, I said months ago that I got rap/hip hop type vibes from Jamil and energetic pop (like the kind you’d hear at a party or something) kind of vibes from Kalim. I may be on the right track since Jamil can canonically breakdance (I saw someone say it’s mentioned in one of the card stories), so I’m headcanoning we’ll get a good mix of Arabian sounds and elements with hip hop stuff (like trap) and pop, like this and this essentially (yes I just linked a kpop song but in my defense kpop knows what it’s doing. It’s got that mix of the elements okay). I want the overblot battle track to have this kind of intensity and darkness but idk if we’ll get that... so far the trend seems to be getting less dark with each overblot (maybe cuz we’re expecting the overblots now??)
My opinion on Arab music: I love it!! I’m a fan of pretty much all music (I do have some exceptions, of course). I wish it was more popular globally than it is, but I suppose it’s kpop’s turn right now which is totally fine. I hope that in the future Arab pop is all over the place like kpop is now cuz it’s some gooooood stuff
