Hello❤️ Finally! Today! I finished the short comic I said I would prepare!
The comic is about amy finding out that Pem, my mc, died of the red plague and she finds her in razaret. Asar has a small gift to give her and goes back to Vesuvia to her shop to reunite with her. Upon arrival, Asra notices that the shop's sign has not been maintained as it was before. Feeling uneasy, he cautiously opens the door and enters the shop. As if this ominous feeling was correct, there is a letter from Pem on the table. Reading the letter, Asra is shocked to learn that she is dying of the Red Plague. Soon after, his surroundings seem to close in on him, engulfing him with dark truths. Denying that she is dead, Asra runs with all his might to find her and reaches the island. Searching for her, Asra finds the remains of the trinket she always wore in her hair until her death. He digs in the dirt, unaware that his hands are scratched and bleeding. After digging for a while, only the tragic last vestiges of her life emerge from the dirt. Asra breaks down, bursting into the tears she's been holding in all this time, denying the truth and clinging to a shred of hope.
This story is my reimagining of the ASRA route (or maybe not) to fit my MC's personality. I didn't really start drawing the storyboard in one sitting, so the artwork may look a little... a lot... maybe even a lot different from scene to scene because I haven't drawn for so long...hehe…Please bear that in mind 🙏🙇🏻‍♀️❤️

🔸🔶The red plague🔶🔸
Okay... I'm not used to do somber drawings, I prefer everything colorful and with good feelings, but the idea came to me and I decided to do it. My girl was at her worst, poor little witch. For Sabel, the plague was just as bad because she saw herself as weak, making her hate herself for decide to stay in Vesuvia and help solve the problem of the red plague. She stayed because she thought she could stop the plague and inflate her ego with it, but ended up caught up in her own vanity.

Joining the modern era with Nielh!
It was so long to draw them in Arcana Universe and so much fun to revisit! Nielh, even when they do not look like it, are fascinated with science and anything medical-related. But they separated their work and their free time.
If they would have their route/tale it would be fascinating to see their two side. I bet MC meets them at some party and later on sees them investigate some scene or something XD

The Saga of Hermione Written by: Ladel Cover Design by: Redplanet Fleurmione Week - Day 7: Free day (also Day 5: Vikings)
“It always starts the same. The sky is clouded. It’s not a storm yet, but it seems like one is brewing. I can see something burning in the distance… My body feels like it’s on fire, and I have a metallic taste in my mouth. It smells of blood and pus from an open wound. Then, the clouds start to open up a little bit. There is a hall far up it the skies and I can see a rainbow coming from it. On it, I see a rider descending towards me.”
Swallowing some bile that’s rising in her throat, Hermione tossed the next stone in the stream. She didn’t have to be a talented seer like her friend to have some semblance of what these signs usually meant.
“It’s always silent. I can’t hear anything. No sounds of fighting, no screaming, nothing. As the rider approaches, I can barely make out that the rider is a woman. Her waving hair is shining in the few sunrays there are. She seems really important, but I could never see her face, and she always seemed to be wearing some kind of helmet. Before I can make out any details I always wake up.”

I'm still on my Arcana bullshit so here's a question for a niche part of the fan base:
Do you think most (if not all) plague doctors operated under the idea that the Red Plague spread by bad air (the Miasma theory) or were they working with germ theory even though the game is set in a Fantasy Renaissance era Italy roughly 300 years before germ theory was accepted science? (I think there's a literary term for this sort of thing but it's escaping me at the moment.)
Personally given the casual treatment of the red beetles I think they were mostly working under the Miasma theory. The fact that they were used for clothing dye right before the Red Plague was in full effect and no one thought to look into that (that I've seen, this is info mentioned in Nadia's route which I haven't played yet) is honestly the biggest nail in the proverbial coffin to me. There's also that scene in Asra's route (reading on-and-off and haven't gotten to this scene myself yet) where there's a shit ton of them in a colony in a garden that people know of and didn't think to remove. Julian is the only doctor we know of that knew about the connection and that was because he had first hand experience with the little fuckers.
I don't think it's impossible for some doctors to have believed in germ theory at the time but if they did I think they were a minority, theory wise.
I would like to hear the fanbase's thoughts though, if you guys have any.

The Arcana: Red Plague HCs
These might've been done before, they might be obvious, or might not even make sense, but they're my HCs, so without furhter ado:
-The Red Plague is a disease of a magical nature (maybe a duh headcanon considering it's the result of a deal with demons/the Devil, but wait, there's more, this is just the base for the rest).
-As such, magicians with a plentiful, strong, powerful magic are more likely to not fall to the disease than non magic users or magicians with weaker or underdeveloped magic (think of Morga, for example).
-Magicians are more likely to succumb to the illness when they overwork/drain their magic, as their magical strength is diminished then and less likely to keep the infectious magic out of the magician's body. Even powerful magicians can fall ill if they consistently do this (this is how one of my apprentices (Alnair) and their aunt caught the disease).
-Every magician whose magic is at least moderately developed will experience the plague differently. This is because it's their own magic that tries to fight off the disease (my Alnair, for example, is attuned to fire, and experienced a feeling of burning well beyond what was normal to attribute to just the fever. My Atlas, on the other hand, attuned to plants, would probably describe it as 'something wrong growing inside').
-The HC above, coupled with the fact I believe Vesuvia had an incredibly terrible organization/effort for the plague (and by incredibly terrible I mean little to none), is one of the reasons why the plague was so difficult to research, in addition to the obvious. The plague would unexplainably manifest differently in different (magic user) victims, but the efforts were too chaotic for anyone to draw the connection. Even if they did realize it was among magic users that symptoms differed the most, I'm not sure they would have understood the core of why (as that would entail them understanding the nature of each victim's magic and how it's fighting against the purely magical-in-nature disease, and let's be honest that kind of digging into each victim's circumstances wasn't likely to happen).
-If I recall right, magic users aren't exactly super common/widespread? Much less strong, powerful ones. This is a reason I believe so many people caught and died from the illness (as being born with naturally powerful magic without having to consciously develop it must be pretty fucking rare).
-Magic wards were the most effective way to keep the disease at bay, although not infalible, as magic keeping magic out was more effective than trying to get rid of it once it had gotten in. The wards would only work while they were charged with strong magic, however, and the protection against the invasive disease would rapidly vanish the more time it passed since it was casted/recharged, even if its ability to protect against other kinds of harm remained intact.
And I think that's all I wanted to cover for now. If I have any more epiphanies I will add to this post later xD
Feel free to add your own HCs as well!
