Night Breeze (夜風)
[Doppo] Missing the last train home First one’s not ‘til morning Left with nowhere to go Asphalt cracked with dandelions
You’ve got it rough too, huh? Overtime on endless loop No siren to go home on time I swear I’m not gonna cry
Because right now, yeah, I work so hard The road I walk’s a dungeon now But look, now it’s time to turn over Coming home to a delicious dinner
I can’t stay here moping around I wanna be the one who gets the last laugh That’s why I’m holding out here as I am a little longer, To make it
[Matenrou] Until the night breaks—Oh ei oh Until the sun rises—Oh ei oh Even if you can’t see the way forward—Oh ei oh Know that the dawn will always arrive—Oh ei oh
[Hifumi] Within this sleepless city Colorful neon signs Forget your painful reality And dream out a brief story
Laughing as we’re talking About our past story And just like a blanket It envelops us completely
Our serious trauma, written into a drama The answer is surely within the night breeze I’ve even started wanting to hear a reason From the woman I said I’d never forgive
Burning yourself out won’t get you anywhere, Surely you’ll return to yourself in the end Then I want to stand here, just as I am Until the morning light breaks
[Matenrou] Until the morning comes—Oh ei oh Until the light touches you—Oh ei oh Even if the night is pitch-dark—Oh ei oh Know you’re never alone within it—Oh ei oh
[Jakurai] Knowing the realities of this world Seeing sleepless dreams The wall is unscalably high But I’d like to climb it regardless
The pasts we wish to keep hidden and The fears we can’t bring ourselves to disclose Gradually eat into our hearts And by the time we realize, it’s too late
Through the long night we’ve endured Through the long, long, night we’ve endured Alone it was utterly impossible For me to possibly overcome it
I want to save everyone Though it may only be my pride I understand it all tonight– It’s always darkest before the dawn
[Matenrou] Until the night breaks—Oh ei oh Until the sun rises—Oh ei oh Even if you can’t see the way forward—Oh ei oh Know that the dawn will always arrive—Oh ei oh
Until the morning comes—Oh ei oh Until the light touches you—Oh ei oh Even if the night is pitch-dark—Oh ei oh Know you’re never alone within it—Oh ei oh

Sorry I’d like to give book recs but I suddenly realized I do not have a very wide range of books I’ve read.
Do you have any queer book recs that you’d like to talk about? I’d love to read more queer books but was never exposed to much of it as a child when I read through books so quickly
Queer books that I’ve read recently that I quite liked:
The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw
This is actually a horror book and only counts as a romance to me cause my brain is a bit snapped but it is romantic ok it IS what if I was a man eating mermaid and you were a gender unspecified plague doctor and we made a connection despite our mutual inhumanity. It’s also very short
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by VE Schwab
Ok the main relationships in this are f/m but the main characters are bi/queer (there’s a lesbian artist side character named Sam :]!)and there are quite a few lovely wlw scenes that I quite liked. Otherwise I just really liked this book I know some people found it slow but I thought the pacing was very well done and the twists felt well earned. Bittersweet, but (spoilers) had an ending that had me going “good for her >:)”
What Moves the Dead by T Kingfisher
This one’s not romantic and it’s also horror it’s just a reimagining of Poe’s Fall of the House of Usher with a non-binary protag and it’s sooo entertaining. Alex is such a funny pov character for this story.
And now it’s time to rank the TJ Klune books that I’ve read so far (all of Klune’s books are mlm romance fantasy books though I guess itlop is more sci fi) (I liked all of them but here’s my preference in order of least to most enjoyed)
3. In the Lives of Puppets
Reverse retelling of Pinocchio (android man raises a human son in a world of robots) I thought the ace rep was maybe a little heavy handed at times (I’m ace I think the author was doing his best but could’ve dialed it back to feel more natural) and some of the humor wasn’t to my taste but the relationships were sweet and as always I love Klune’s worldbuilding. When the terrible dogfish showed up I said OHHHH out loud cause I hadn’t put the premise together yet despite everything else making it so obvious.
2. The House in the Cerulean Sea
This is everyone’s favorite but I’m gonna be honest. I just thought it was really good. I thought the conflict was a little on the nose/id seen it before so it didn’t really grab me but the setting and characters SHINE. It’s so visual I love Klune’s descriptions (right off the bat even in the boring office setting I was thinking “this should be a laika movie”)
1. Under the Whispering Door
This one is my favorite. Am I predictable. Yes. Am I taking criticism ABSOLUTELY not I loved this book. I love when an asshole learns to grow as a person I love how human this understanding of death and the after life is I love how even though the book tells you the twist on the back cover it still managed to sneak up on me and tear my heart out. Good book.

Am I the Asshole for reporting my coworker a second time? (TW// Sexual Harassment, Mentions of Suicide, Mentions of Self Harm)
(🍫💵 so I can find it later.)
I work a job where I (22 F/NB) am a cashier at a local supermarket. I have a few coworkers close to my age, but most are either in their late thirties/early fourties' or are kids who go to the local high schools in the area.
Around the beginning of this year, we'll call him Abe (17~ M) attempted to ask out my coworker who we'll call May (16~ F). They'd hang out semi-regularly along with the other kids still in high school, and while they never caused trouble, they did tend to goof off and joke around a lot.
May refused him, saying she wasn't interested. For WHATEVER reason, he did not accept this rejection and continued to ask. This was an issue, as not only is it sexual harassment, but Abe is a cart-pusher and May is a cashier. He was already a pretty lazy employee (management was always upset at him because he'd get caught playing on his phone instead of working), but now he'd purposefully go through her lane at the supermarket just to ask her out repeatedly and beg to be with her. Every time he found her alone, he'd go right up to her and keep pestering her about it. She felt so uncomfortable and unsafe about it that she told our team lead, who agreed to stay by her side. This was spread to our management, who make sure she isn't alone so that he can't corner her about going out with her.
I have witnessed him doing it many times, enough that I reported it to HR when May refused to do it herself. They told me to get her into contact with them and report it to them, and finally I convinced her to do it.
There was a sort of peace period after that, where they weren't scheduled at the same time. But recently he's taken it a step further and has decided to come in on ANY day she is scheduled (even if he isn't) to keep trying to ask her out. Most of the cashiers are aware of the situation and got upset with him. One of the few who is around my age (and recently pregnant) even cussed his ears off for harassing her so much because it didn't look like management was doing anything. Abe declared that the pregnant coworker broke his heart, and now his behavior had gotten WORSE.
Abe would look at those who he'd "hang out" with at work and either try to guilt them into helping him win over May's heart, complain about her not living him, and talk about how "white people suck"/"white people are so shitty" despite BEING white (to my knowledge, please don't go after me in the notes about this) himself. He'd also stalk her work bestie around and trash-talked the pregnant co-worker, all while NOT DOING HIS JOB, by the way.
One of the habits he has picked up however is miming actions to his fellow minors. The one I heard him use mostly was of him pretending to shoot himself in the head.
But one day I was working as the customer service rep for the night (no one else could do it), and I gave him a polite nod when he walked past. He smiled at me and then mimed cutting himself.
This was not something I had heard of him doing before, but when I talked to my coworkers they said "yeah he was doing this too".
In the moment I had given him a very firm No, because it was not work appropriate. Abe insisted, and pretended to cut his wrists again.
I'm on anon so none of you know me, but I used to severely struggle with suicide and self harm from a young age. However I have gotten better since becoming an adult and have made MASSIVELY impressive strides to a happier life. From this, I understand joking about suicide, because if you joke about it with someone you are not only in a safe place to bring it up BUT are coming around to the idea of telling people that you need help.
Joking about self harm, however? I've never heard of it. It's an entirely different ball park. You don't joke about those things.
In the moment, I was in disbelief, and I felt sick. I even started mentally shutting down, to the point where I couldn't even do my usual tasks properly without being specifically told to start them. Everyone noticed. I even cried once I was in my car while my sister was picking me up and safe, because I was trying so fucking hard not to think about that time in my life when I had moved myself so far past it.
Right at the beginning of shutting down, I did tell a manager. I told the manager who worked the next day as well, just so that I'd be SURE something happened about it. Abe visited that day on his day off because May was working again, and I panicked so much at seeing him that I hid behind customer service until one of my work friends told me he had left- instead of staying at May's side like I usually would. (I put my mental health first- it was a tough lesson that I managed to learn last year to the point that I do it in my day-to-day. She wasn't left alone with him though, don't worry.)
It genuinely sickened me that he has been miming cutting himself to other minors, when I know that if I had been May's age and had seen that amidst recovery, I would have spiraled and started all over again. Abe's lucky none of them are like that (at least openly) and that I was uniquely affected whereas the others were just "creeped out".
I ended up reporting his actions towards me about a week after I convinced May to personally report his harassment, and then I found out that the first manager I talked to (who has a soft spot for him, he does use this to his advantage to get out of trouble at work) asked him what was wrong and his response was "I'm having a bad day".
Considering that he does this every day he comes into work, whether he's actually working or not, on top of everything else (and how it effected me)- I am very hurt and genuinely hate him after all of this when I hadn't hated him before (despite the fact that I have only hated 2 people in my life before that point). However, I don't know if he was joking about how bad he feels about the fact that she does not want him at all or if he's genuinely hurting himself, and I feel sick at the thought of my actions if it's the second scenario.
Even if he's sexually harassing my coworker, no one should ever feel like they deserve to be hurt or that they don't deserve life. That's what I believe. And I'm worried that, should Abe find out I reported him twice over this, that he'll yell at me and say that I'm an asshole for doing that (and I know it would happen, because that was his response with my pregnant coworker). I know I'm doing the right thing by reporting the continuous harassment, but my heart is genuinely conflicted now. He needs to stop, but what if my actions are causing this response? I could never live with myself knowing that I was the reason someone hurt themselves. My anxiety won't let it rest.
And so, Tumblr, I must know...
Am I the Asshole?
What are these acronyms?

(look at this precious boyyyyy)
being cast in a marvel movie meant commitment, whether it was traveling to the other side of the world and living there for months on end, or staying late when it was necessary.
at first, you were extremely excited to become a part of this universe of compelling characters and devoted fans. you didn’t know exactly which character you’d auditioned for, but when your agent called you about a role in a new spiderman movie, and that marvel wanted you to audition, you knew you were going to do what was necessary to get that role.
max was the first person you told about this audition. he knew how long you’d been wanting to be part of a big movie franchise, through most of your career you’d only done stand-alone movies, this opportunity gave you the chance to grow as an actress, to explore a character in ways that you hadn’t been able to just yet.
you had been on your morning run when you got the call, jogging the streets of the small country you called home was your favorite way to start the day when the weather was nice. maybe not the running part, but you did like the view. you always invited max to join you, but he always claimed that if he were to run with you, he would just fall behind, too distracted by your presence. you’d shake your head and laugh.
“the view, max! do it for the view,” you said, grabbing his shoulders and moving him until he was standing in front of the stone edge, the water in the distance. but he moved his head, meeting your eyes as he smiled softly, then, without hesitation, he said;
“you’re the greatest view i could ever ask for,” your breath got caught in your throat, max turned so he was facing you, and gently kissed your cheek.
you smiled as you thought back to that day. the thought that max was waiting for you back home was what kept you going through the hard days. and that day, after the first rush of excitement had died down a bit, making way for nervousness and self doubt, you needed him. you knew it was just an audition, and that it was weeks away, but this was a really big opportunity for you and your career. you knew more chances would come, but you just had a feeling that this role in particular, even though you didn’t even know what character it was, was made for you.
you arrived home, feeling a weird sensation in your stomach, as if you were going to throw up. as you opened the front door you were met with the sound of music coming from the speakers.
“max?” you called, heading to the balcony, you knew he enjoyed working out there, and the already opened door was a big clue. “hey,” you said, he was lying on his back, he dropped the weight he was lifting to the side, rising up to his feet and greeted you with a kiss.
“how was your run?” he asked, holding your hand and leading you inside.
“good,” you replied, rushing the word out. you walked to the kitchen, sitting on a stool as max grabbed a cold water bottle from the fridge.
“everything okay?” he asked, you cursed yourself silently. for someone who had spent most of her life acting, you were not good at keeping your cool when lying.
“yup,” you popped the ‘p’, and max turned around and narrowed his eyes at you, you sighed, placing your crossed arms over the counter and hiding your face in them. “okay, no. i got a call and i’m nervous,” your voice came out muffled, and max frowned, sitting next to you. he placed a hand on your back.
“what? i couldn’t hear you,” his hand was warm against your back, you turned your head to look at him, he leaned down so he was imitating your posture. “hey, what’s wrong?” he looked concerned, and you chastised yourself mentally for worrying him about something so trivial.
“i got a call, from stephanie,” you started, max nodded, “i have an audition in three weeks, for a new marvel movie. a spiderman movie,” you said, realizing that spiderman was one of max’s favorite characters, that just added to the mix of nerves and anxiety you felt at that moment.
“that’s amazing!” he said, a smile forming on his lips. you straightened your back, nodding. “but?” he lifted his eyebrows.
"it's marvel!" you lifted your arms for emphasis. “and it’s a spiderman film, and you love spiderman, and-”
“and you’re you,” he leaned in, “you’re nervous,” he guessed.
“oh, i’m terrified,” you admitted, leaning your head on his shoulder. “i’ve been wanting to be part of anything marvel for so long now… and now that i finally have an audition with them…” you lifted your head, turning so you were face to face with max, “i can’t screw this up,” you shook your head.
“and you won’t,” he assured you, placing his hands on your arms. “you’ve gotten every role you’ve auditioned for, you’ve been offered roles without even having to audition,” he started, you looked up at him, “this won’t be any different, okay? they are interested in you for a reason. they know this role is for you,”
“but i… i don’t even know what role it is, and-”
“you won’t find out unless you try. and you know, i could help you rehearse your lines,” he poked your stomach, making you laugh, “i’ll be with you every step of the way.”
“thank you, max.”
“of course, schatje,” he said, leaning in and placing a kiss on your lips. “besides, what if you get to play spider-woman, or something like that?” you chuckled, kissing his cheek.
“maybe,”
-
max had been right, after all. after three rounds of callbacks and chemistry reads, you had been offered the role to play spider gwen for the live action ‘spiderverse’ film. after explaining to max the story of the character, he quickly declared it as his favorite character and superhero. you told him to keep it a secret, you couldn’t risk anyone finding out about this before marvel announced it or started teasing about it. he promised you his lips were sealed.
except that cheeky motherfucker, for once in his life, didn’t wear a red bull polo as he arrived to the track for his next race, he wore a marvel shirt.
you were in atlanta at that moment, on the first days of shooting the film, and had called him as soon as you were both available.
“hi, schatje,” he said, he eyes were crinkled at the corners, the little shit knew exactly what he was doing, knew exactly why you’d called him.
“hello, emilian,” you called him by his middle name, narrowing your eyes at him through the screen. “that was an interesting outfit you wore today,” you said, slowly raising an eyebrow.
“really? he asked, shrugging his shoulders, “i wore what i always do, jeans and a shirt,”
“oh, yeah, i’m well aware of your required uniform for the weekends,” you teased, “was surprised to see you not wearing a red bull shirt, though,”
“what can i say? i’ve been watching the movies and am becoming a fan,”
“max,” you chuckled, shaking your head slightly.
“did i get you in trouble?” he asked.
“no, don’t worry about that,”
“okay, good,” he nodded.
“but you can’t do it again. it already raised so many eyebrows, people will start talking, and speculating. i can’t risk anything leaking out, okay?”
“okay. i’m sorry. i just thought you… you know. you’re finally in a marvel movie, after working your ass off for so long, and i’m so unbelievably proud of you, i want to show you off,”
“and i love you and thank you for that, but… let’s wait until the movie comes out… or the confirmation of my role, at least, okay?”
“okay. i’m sorry if i caused you any troubles,”
“no, no, it’s all good, i promise. it’s just me, i- i can’t risk losing this,”
“and you won’t, i promise. i will lay low until you give me the thumbs up,”
“what does that mean?” you asked, smiling as you leaned back.
“i’ve already ordered a bunch of spider gwen shirts and caps, and sweatshirts,” he said, your eyes widened as you let out a small laugh.
“max!”
“my favorite girl is playing my favorite superhero, i’d be stupid if i didn’t show my support for you in any way i can, no matter how small,”
“i really want to hug you right now,” you said, sighing. this was the first time you’d be away for so long, almost two months without seeing each other in person.
“i wish i could, too.”
-
you never thought you’d struggle with long distance, for the almost two years you and max had been together, you were always in sync, you always knew what the other needed without having to ask.
maybe it was the distance, or the timing, maybe it was just a small bump in the road for the two of you.
as you moved overseas for a few months to film, you tried to watch and follow the races as much as you could, but your hectic schedule made it impossible sometimes, and you had to settle for watching the replays when you had the time, or just watching the highlights.
one day in july, you were just about to wrap filming, and had been asked to start really early, and to stay extremely late. you were up before the sun, texting a quick ‘good morning, good luck. i love you.’ to max before leaving your phone in your trailer and focusing on, what you were hoping would be, your last day of filming.
things had been a little tense between max and you, you missed him terribly, and so did he. you both tried to make time in your schedules to facetime for at least five minutes, but the time difference, plus the million things you had to do, plus the fatigue and tiredness made it almost impossible. you relied on texts, a good morning and good night text was the one thing you never missed.
the day had started out just like any other, you were aware that the race was an important one, from the bits and pieces of information you read online and had spoken to max about, silverstone would be a decisive race for the championship title. and it broke your heart that you wouldn’t be able to watch it, but you wanted to finish as soon as possible so you could get back to your designated spot in max’s garage quickly. you’d already missed so much.
max knew that you had your own career to focus on, during all the time you’d been together, he was aware that you weren’t going to be there for him all the time. he knew that. but you’d never been apart for so long. he knew his life wouldn’t be over if he didn’t win the championship that year, but the people around him counted on him, they, and max himself, were putting too much pressure on him, he was about to snap.
silverstone was not supposed to turned out the way it did. he wasn’t supposed to crash into a wall at 51gs, he wasn’t supposed to be taken to a hospital to make sure he was all right. he wasn’t supposed to be told that you didn’t pick up the calls because you didn’t care about him.
seeing the over fifty missed calls made your heart start racing. it was almost 2am in atlanta, which meant it was a decent time on the other side of the world. you dialed max’s number and put it on speaker, reading the texts you’d received as you waited for him to pick up.
you had texts from friends asking how max was, how you were, but you didn’t understand why. you kept scrolling as you heard the monotone beeping. your heart raced inside your chest as you heard the voice telling you you’d reached his voicemail, you dialed again, waiting as you felt tears in your eyes whilst you read about the crash.
“(y/n)?” you let out a deep breath in relief as you heard his voice.
“max!” you sighed, the tension in your shoulders easing, “max, i’m so sorry, i just read about the crash. i was busy all day. how are you? are you okay? i’m so sorry i couldn’t be there, i promise i’ll jump in a plane and-”
“i’m okay,” he cut off your rambling.
“is.. are you out of the hospital? what did they say?” you asked, running a hand through your hair.
“i’m okay,” he repeated.
“what’s wrong?” you asked, frowning. the tone in his voice was enough clue, he wasn’t okay. he didn’t reply, but you could hear his breathing on the other side of the line. “max, what’s wrong?”
“why weren’t you answering?” he asked, his voice took you by surprise, he sounded angry.
“wh-what? max, i- i was busy on set all day. we just finished the film.”
“and you didn’t even get a five-minute break?”
“i don’t- what are you trying to say?” you asked, you didn’t know where this was coming from.
“forget it,” he said, you shook your head even though he couldn’t see you.
“no. no, what do you mean by that? max, i am doing my job here, if i could’ve been there with you, i would’ve. i want to be with you, i stayed awake for almost twenty four hours so i could finish filming and get back to you.”
you were met by silence on the other end of the line, you sighed as you dropped on your couch.
“there were pictures, the other day,” he started, you remained quiet, “of you and…”
“oh my god,” you said, exasperated, “i went out to dinner with my cast mate,”
“i know. i know that. but they-”
“they?” you asked, already knowing where this was going.
since the beginning of your relationship, you hadn’t been that well received by the red bull team principal and advisor, or by max's own father, they thought you were a distraction for their beloved driver. they knew they had a future world champion in their hands, and they sometimes forgot that he was a human, with feelings and desires and wants and needs, they wanted max to dedicate all his time to racing, not a girl.
“when are you coming home?” his voice was small, you could hear the regret in his words, could practically see him crestfallen, lying on a hotel bed all alone.
“i’ll book the earliest flight to london. i can get someone to send over all my stuff.” you sighed, knowing this conversation was not finished. “are you okay, max?” you asked, now that you knew what was really troubling him, you knew he could be honest.
“i just need you,”
“i’ll be there.”
“i’m sorry,”
“i know.”
-
with a cap on your head, sunglasses covering your eyes, you arrived at max’s hotel. you skipped the front desk, going straight to the elevator and hitting the button for floor number nine. you stepped out and walked to the right door, knocking twice, once, and twice again. seconds later, you saw max’s face, in front of you, for the first time in months.
you forgot about literally everything else at that moment, every single thing that worried you was thrown out the window the moment you felt his hands on your waist, you threw your arms around his neck and pulled him down, closer to you until you had your face buried in the crook of his neck, you inhaled deeply, having missed his scent. you’d missed everything about him.
“i missed you so much,” you heard him, felt him pushing you closer to his front. you let him drag you inside the room, he turned you both so he had his back against the door, he pushed it and closed it, leaning against it for support. “i love you. i’m sorry.”
“i know. i know, i love you too.” you whispered, leaning back so you could look at him. even in the dim lights of the room, you could see a faint bruise on the side of his cheek. instinctively, you lifted your hand to touch it, your fingers met his skin gently, they tingled at the contact.
“now i- i think it’s better that you didn’t see the crash,”
“why?” you asked, stroking his cheek softly.
“you would’ve been so worried. i don’t like that you worry so much about me,”
“i have to.” you answered, shrugging your shoulder, “i’m so sorry i couldn’t be here,”
“no. no, don’t apologize.” he shook his head, you dropped your hand down to his shoulder, “you were right, you can’t always be here, and i’m happy that you have things to do, i’m happy that you have a job that you love, just like i do. i don’t want to take that from you, i don’t want you to stop doing what you love just because of me.”
“i would if you asked me,” you blurted out, you didn’t think it twice, they just came out.
“and i would, too, but the point is that i was out of line. i know how hard you’ve worked for your career, and i can’t take that away from you, i can’t be mad because i know how much you’ve done for me.”
“let’s just… forget about it, okay? i know that you are under a lot of pressure right now, and the worst thing is that it’s not coming from yourself. but you can’t let their words get to you, max. it’s not healthy, it’s not okay. they have no right to do this to you. you will have many more opportunities to win a championship, you know that.”
“i know,” he turns his head to the side, you saw a new bruise on the other side of his face. you leaned forward, your lips meeting the light purple mark on his face.
“i’m sorry i couldn’t be there for you.”
“ no, no, don’t apologize. you’re here now, and that’s all that matters. that’s all i need.”
from that moment onwards, you never left max’s side on race weekends. all the side eyes you received from people that didn’t want you there were met by a tug on your hand from max, pulling you closer to him. you were happy again, nothing could ever ruin it.
-
having a child was something you’d never discussed. of course, you pictured a future with max, you loved him deeply and he loved you just the same. but you both were too focused on your careers, you were in your prime. young, talented, focused, hardworking.
a child wasn’t in your plans, at least, not at that moment. you’d tried to convince yourself that missing your period was just because you were overworking yourself. the tests could be wrong, there was a chance that you had a false positive.
that’s what you told yourself to calm yourself down. you couldn’t freak out, but you couldn’t be pregnant.
it was not hard to guess when you could’ve gotten pregnant, from the moment you finished shooting you and max had not wasted a second in making up for the lost time. you were both insatiable, craving the other’s touch, the delirious rush you got when he touched you.
you heard a knock on the door, you swallowed a lump in your throat as you looked up.
“come in,” you said. there was no point in hiding it.
“hey, everything okay? you’ve been here a while,” max said, entering the bathroom and closing the door with his back, leaning his weight against it.
“yeah, i… um, here,” you extended your arm, handing him the test. it took him a few seconds to take it.
“huh,” he said, walking next to you, he sat down and pressed his shoulder against yours.
“what now?” you asked, leaning your head on your shoulder, looking to the wall in front of you.
“i don’t know,” max said, his hand held yours, you laced your fingers through his, holding tightly. “but i’m with you every step of the way, okay?”
“okay,” you answered.

after a lot of talk between you two, you agreed to keep the baby. maybe you weren’t ready yet, and you had a million reasons to wait until the time was right, but you couldn’t deny that the thought of a little mini max running around the apartment was an endearing one. after the first shock and doctor appointments, you let your mind wander.
you found yourself rubbing your stomach whenever anything happened. whether it was happy, sad, scary, anything, your hand went there instinctively.
at first you’d managed to hide your stomach behind big sweaters, taking advantage of the cold weather. the pregnancy didn’t stop you from going with max to the races, you loved the quiet moments you got before he had to leave for each session, where you would lay on his massage table, and he’d lift your shirt up, exposing your stomach, and pepper it with kisses all over. the baby bump was barely there, barely noticeable, but the fact that you two knew there was a mini you or mini max in there was enough to drive him crazy. he’d talk to your future kid, explain everything he was about to do in the car, ask him or her to not give you much trouble or make you sick.
your first reaction to the news might not have been the best, but everything changed the moment you started planning ahead, when you started looking at baby clothes and started buying furniture and decoration for the baby’s room, there was no going back from there. max was already in love with the little being that would one day become his son or daughter.
the day he won the championship was one that you’d never forget, it was also the day he almost let it slip that you were pregnant. as soon as he jumped out of his car and made his way to you, he wrapped his arms around you and kissed you, his hands involuntarily going over your stomach. you grabbed them in yours, and placed them on your waist again, hoping the action wasn’t noticed by many people.
the pregnancy slip-up became a revelation just a few days later. you were invited to the premiere of the new spider-man movie, and since no one other than the cast knew about your involvement in the project, plus your very known love for marvel movies, no one raised an eyebrow when they noticed your presence there. you received looks, though, when you posed on your side for pictures. the dress you wore accentuated your bump, made it obvious to anyone who looked your way.
the dress, plus max’s protective arm around your back, his hand over your stomach, that was a clear giveaway for anyone who looked your way.
after the movie premiere, came the fia prize giving gala. you’d dodged a bullet in the premiere, you hadn’t been asked to do any press, but now that all eyes were on max, you couldn’t escape the questions.
as always, he was very private about his personal life, but even with his usual serious and pulled back demeanor, he couldn’t stop gushing about you or the baby. you were approached by many people, congratulating both you and max for all your accomplishments, plus for your new role as parents. when it was time for him to step onto the stage to collect his trophy, you struggled to hold back tears.
“thank you to the fia, to the team, they’re the ones who made this possible. thank you to my family, and friends, for always having my back. thank you to my girlfriend, (y/n), this year was a really hard one for the two of us, but the thought that no matter how my day went, i’d go home and find you waiting for me with a smile on your face, that helped me more than you could ever imagine. to my future son or daughter, this is for you.”
-
the race in italy was one that you were waiting for. you hadn’t been able to join max for any previous races because, now that your role in ‘spiderman: no way home’ was public knowledge, you were now caught up in interviews and talks about possible future projects. you were almost about to pop, so you had to take advantage of all the free moments you had so you could travel with max wherever he went.
you were in your hotel room, really early on a friday morning, doing an interview through zoom.
“this past year was a pretty busy one for you, wasn’t it?” the interviewer asked, you smiled, nodding, “filmed a secret movie, you’re expecting a baby, your partner won a world championship,” she listed, your grin only grew as she continued, “what else can we expect from you this year?”
“well… i don’t know yet. i think i’ll take a little break while i get adjusted to this new role, probably the most challenging role i’ll ever have in my life,” you chuckled, tucking a strand of hair behind your ear, “but after that… who knows? i’m open for anything that life has in store for me,” you smiled.
“do you like my shirt?” you heard from your left. you glanced at max for one second, you’d told him you were doing an interview, he knew that.
“sorry, one second,” you turned off your microphone as you looked at him, “baby, i’m busy,”
“you didn’t answer,” he almost pouted, you could see him push his bottom lip out.
“love it,”
“is everything okay there, (y/n)? we can pause or-”
“no, i’m sorry, it’s just… got a little distracted,” you looked back to your screen, “sorry about that,”
“hello!” max said, running until he was standing next to you, leaning down so his face was next to yours, taking up half the space on the interviewer’s screen.
“um, hi! this is a nice surprise,” she chuckled, you put your arms on the desk and hid your face in them.
“i am dating a child, as you can see,” you laughed.
“here, look at my shirt! it’s her!” max stood up, he was wearing one of the many shirts he’d bought when he found out you got the role. the t-shirt had a drawing of the character in her superhero outfit.
“that’s a lovely shirt! you two are a lovely couple, i’m sure you’ve heard that one before, but it’s true,” you smiled at her words, as max ran to the bed and came back with more shirts.
“i have more. i bought all of these when i found out she was playing spider-gwen. i’ve always loved spider-man, and i didn’t really know this character existed until a few years ago. she’s perfect for the role, isn’t she?” he rambled on, you just shook your head in disbelief as your cheeks started hurting.
“she is, played it perfectly,” the interviewer laughed, “well i’ll let you both go. it was lovely talking to you, good luck on your race, your movies, the baby, well… everything.” she laughed, you both smiled, you felt max's hand on your shoulder.
“thank you so much! have a nice day,” you said goodbye as max waved his hand from behind you. you exited the video conference, closing your laptop and slowly turning your torso around. you didn’t say anything, just stared through narrowed eyes at max’s shit-eating grin.
“you’re not dating me,” he pointed out.
“what?”
“you’re engaged to me, that’s different.” he helped you stand up, then took your engagement ring off from his pinky, sliding it back into your left hand.
"fine then, i am engaged to a child," you poked his stomach with a finger, laughing as he doubled over.
"that would be weird," he said, you laughed, running your fingers through his hair. "is she awake?" he asked, sliding his hand over your stomach.
it was like your daughter knew when her father wanted to talk to her. like she knew it was him just from the weight of his hand over your belly.
"she is now," you looked down at your stomach, feeling as she started moving inside of you, "oof," you tugged lightly on max's hair when she kicked you close to your ribs, "not cool, baby," you tapped your stomach twice.
"let's be nice to mom, okay? i'm the one that has to deal with her when you make her mad," he leaned down and placed a kiss on your bump. you huffed, slapping his head lightly, earning a chuckle from him. "or keep doing it, she looks hot when she's mad,"
"max," you warned.
"it's the truth!"

Do you have any queer historical romance recs? Are there any upcoming 2024 queer historical romances that you’re excited for?
Absolutely, I have recs! As for 2024 books, I'm currently most looking forward to You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian, which is an m/m romance set, I believe in the 50s, set around the world of baseball.
I also just read A Sweet Sting of Salt by Rose Sutherland (out 4/9) which I SUPER recommend if you want a f/f romance set in the 1800s, with a touch of fantasy. It's about a prickly midwife who finds this mysterious woman in the middle of the night, literally about to give birth. She helps her, and her husband turns out to be a local fisherman. But... something isn't right... both with the husband, and with his wife's origins. And when the husband realizes the women are falling in love, he only becomes more possessive. I promise it's romantic and has an HEA and doesn't feature overwhelming sadness (there is domestic and sexual violence alluded to, but it's brief and off the page).
As for historicals otherwise...
M/M
We Could be So Good by Cat Sebastian--set in the same general era and space as the 2024 release, I think, about a pair of reporters slowly and sweetly falling in love, especially after they become roommates (and they were ROOMMATES).
The Secret Lives of Country Gentlemen by KJ Charles--about a guy who moves to the marshland after he becomes a baronet, and has to take care of his estranged father's family left behind. He finds out there is a crime family of smugglers controlling the area, and he rats on them after seeing something sus... But when he goes to testify, who's there to stop him but the guy who he used to anonymously hook up with! JOSS DOOMSDAY. Joss Doomsday is amazing I love him. Super sexy, funny, and definitely focused on a side of England you like, never see in historicals.
The Nobleman's Guide to Seducing a Scoundrel by KJ--the standalone followup to the last book. In this case, another title is inherited, and this time the lord's this gruff former soldier. His cousins or something contest his inheritance, and he hires this young, charismatic secretary (especially important because our lord has a hard time reading, which I felt was done in a really touching way). Anyway, the sexual tension boils over and they start hooking up on the low, but there's a SECRET. (Also, the lord is very like "I'M ABUSING MY BOSSLY POWER" while the secretary is like "I mean... abuse it some more.....")
Band Sinister by KJ Charles--kind of a queer sendup of gothics, this is about a young guy whose sister is like, always spying on their scandalous neighbors who hold orgies and shit for the sake of writing her novels. Then she breaks her leg and ends up laid up in the orgy house, and he rushes over like NO ORGIES FOR HER, but he realizes the group of friends is actually super cool, especially the verrrry siiiiiilky smoooooth one who's just soooooo suave. So good, and especially interesting in that, while I would definitely not call this a poly romance, it does explore the complexities of open relationships and polyamory.
The Queer Principles of Kit Webb by Cat Sebastian--Kit is a retired highwayman running a cafe, and suddenly this vERRRY pretty nobleman comes in flashing his very nice ankles and asking Kit to steal this mysterious book from his dad. Kit refuses, but agrees to teach Percy how to steal. Both are great, but omg PERCY is AMAZING. He's kind introduced as somewhat like... conventionally more on the femme side, but he's like a secret swordmaster, and also takes the lead with Kit sexually a lot. One of my favorite moments in this book is when he's blowing Kit and Kit thinks he's gone too deep and is like "SORRY" and Percy rolls his eyes and makes Kit grab his hair and start facefucking him lmao. Also has nice demi rep in Kit.
Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall--A frosty duke proposes to a woman he was always supposed to marry, and she subsequently goes on the run. He then has to pair up with her dramatic, fanciful twin brother. It's a really funny romcom, with a ridiculous duel that had me wheezing. Plus a semi-cultlike group of lesbians? Also, enthusiastic ass eating.
F/F
An Island Princess Starts a Scandal by Adriana Herrera--A cold vamp widow wants this business deal with a fun and flirty heiress, and the heiress agrees to make the deal... If the vamp agrees to show her LESBIAN PARIS. Hot, and both of the leads are Latina.
Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall--Adding this even though it definitely has a good dose of fantasy, because it's like... Jane Austen meets a Midsummer Night's Dream, with an emphasis on the fairies. This young deb ends up hexed so her dress is unraveling at a ball, and as she hurries into the pushes, she meets the mysterious Lady Duke, who's rumored to have murdered her brother and father. They begin this push and pull of seduction. It's both funny and kind of dramatic.
Trans/Nonbinary
Something Spectacular by Alexis Hall--the standalone followup to Something Fabulous. The runaway fiancee's ex, the genderfluid Peggy, is roped by said ex into attending an opera. The ex wants to seduce Orfeo, this gorgeous castrato soprano, and when they open their mouth to sing Peggy, who's very gruff and in control typically, faints. Orfeo is naturally like "WHO'S THAT" and begins pursuing Peggy rather than the ex. One of my favorite books, so funny (at one point they accidentally incite a gay orgy) with a hint of melancholy and great sex. Also, it has one of the most unique sex scenes I've ever read.
Unmasked by the Marquess by Cat Sebastian--a bisexual marquess makes a new friend in this young dandy in town. They kiss, and he thinks his friend is going to blackmail him... But the friend, Robin, turns out to be chamber maid in disguise! Except they're actually not a man or a woman, and don't want to live as a woman. It becomes as an FWB thing, but naturally our romantic hero falls in love and things become Fraught. Has one of my favorite "resentfully horny" moments, when Alistair is watching Robin from across the ballroom, and they pull a glove off with their teeth, and he's like "THAT IS IMPROPER" and wants to fuck them so bad.
A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall--Viola faked her death at Waterloo in order to live as her true self. Years later, she's pulled into helping her old best friend, the Duke of Gracewood, who's suffering from a chronic injury and severe depression following the battle. At first he doesn't recognize her... at first. Has an absolutely INCREDIBLE moment of recognition, and I really like that it's this romping old school type romance with a trans heroine.
Most Ardently by Gabe Cole Novoa--this one is actually a YA Pride and Prejudice retelling, highly recommend if you're open to it. In this case, the Lizzie character is actually Oliver, a trans boy, and he and Darcy fall in love--molly houses are included in this, which I really like. It's not super about historical accuracy, which I personally dgaf about, and it's very sweet and funny and warm. Also, the author is a trans man.
Queer Polyamory
Scandalous Passions by Nicola Davidson--FFM. A king's former mistress is sent away because the queen hates her, and is also asked to care for the king's ward. She and the ward begin to give in to their attraction, and at the same time their escort is this much-feared knight (who's really quite subby) who's been in love with the older heroine for years. And then he begins falling for the ward as well.... Super sexy medieval, with Dom/sub overtones.
Their Marchioness by Jess Michaels--A playwright is asked to a marquess and marchioness's home... Turns out he and the marchioness were in love before she was forced to marry the marquess. Fortunately, she and her husband are now very much in love, and he's basically gifting her a tryst with her old love for her birthday. Then he joins in... and it begins being more than sex. Has some bi awakening stuff.
M/F with Bi leads
The Perfect Crimes of Marian Hayes by Cat Sebastian--a standalone followup to Kit Webb. Percy's stepmother Marian is having a correspondence with a blackmailer, who unbeknownst to her is her odious husband's secret son. He ends up falling in love with her as they go back and forth with letters, so when she ends up in trouble and on the run, he comes to "save" her, only to find that Marian ain't that girl. Both leads are bi, and the sex is really cool and interesting because Marian doesn't like penetration due to trauma surrounding her pregnancy and labor. So she penetrates him (among other things) instead.
Hugo and The Maiden by S.M. LaViolette--a successful sex worker ends up being transported and washing ashore after a shipwreck. He's very snarky, but finds himself up against the vicar's uptight and uncompromising daughter--but he still has enemies lurking. Hugo is openly (for the day) bi and services both men and women. I really liked that even as he fell in love, his bisexuality wasn't like this background thing--he sees a guy he likes at one point and is basically like "if I wasn't taken......."
Any Duke in a Storm by Amalie Howard--a spy (who's also kind of a lady pirate) ends up being attracted to her super rakish and slutty first mate. She's bisexual, and one of the women on her ship is her former hookup (still her friend), which I like.
Melissa and The Vicar by S.M. LaViolette--a madame goes to a small village to recuperate and de-stress, and ends up falling in love with a virginal vicar she's so sure she can't have. Melissa is bisexual, and I thiiink a woman she used to be involved with is on the page? Her hero, Magnus, kind of has a "oh shit am I bi?" moment when Melissa tries to fake him out by pretending she's hooking up with Hugo. To be fair, everyone wants to fuck Hugo.
In Which Margo Halifax Earns Her Shocking Reputation--a scandalous woman begins chasing her sister (who ran off with a Bad Man) along with her brother's best friend, who's secretly in love with her. Margo is bi, and her relationships with women are one reason why she's considered scandalous~.

More Barbarian AU
“Y’re alright,” Ricochet said, taking Barricade by the arm and guiding him down the hall. “Don’t know what the dumb aft was thinkin’ bringin’ ya here like some kinda prize. If he’d known what was good for ‘m he woulda been on a chip to Kaon.”
“What was that about?” Barricade asked. He was rather calm for a mech that had just watched another get beaten to death; that did not mean he was not likely to be terrified.
“Road Handler, the creep that bought ya betrayed Jazz, betrayed our clan,” Ricochet explained. “He said nothin’ when a mutual friend was bridenapped. A coward ‘n a fool. He outta known Jazz would scrap’m.”
“You didn’t save your friend,” Barricade guessed. “Given his reaction.”
“No,” Ricochet replied. “He died from complications givin’ emergence to my brother’s creations.”
“I’m sorry to hear that,” Barricade said. Ricochet nodded.
“Y’re brother sold ya?” He asked.
“I didn’t manage to find blackmail on him like the last one,” Barricade replied. “He got rid of me before I could.”
“Blackmail?” Ricochet asked.
“I’m receptive,” Barricade explained. “I’m supposed to be a good little brooder. At my age, I should have had two at least by now but I never fancied that life. My progenitor never found a mech who could handle me and when he died I blackmailed my oldest brother so he would leave me to live how I wanted.”
“What’d ya blackmail ‘m wit?” Ricochet asked.
“He liked getting fragged,” Barricade said. “He had this femme bodyguard and I caught them in berth together with her fragging him and slagtalking him like he was a cheap buymecha. If I’d let that out, his reputation would have been destroyed. He would have had to go into exile for the shame of it.”
“Cause he liked gettin’ spiked?” Ricochet asked, aghast.
“Praxus has rules,” Barricade explained. “Receptives get fragged and contributives frag. Sure lots of mecha switch things up but he was a senator. The scandal would have ruined him.”
“That’s… rough,” Ricochet said.
“Don’t feel sorry for him,” Barricade retorted. “He was a disgusting piece of scrap.”
Ricochet was not sure what to think of the mech walking with him. Blackmailing his brother with his sexuality was pretty horrific, but so was being traded or sold to be a broodcarrier. He thought a bit about what Ori had told him of Jazz’s wet nurse, of the hollowness of his optics from the torture of that life. Barricade was far from hollow; he was full of fire. If his own brother had sold him, there was no sending him back to his kin. That begged the question what to do with the mech? Jazz wanted nothing to do with him and was in no state to be responsible for another mechanism’s life. Given the lengths Barricade had gone through not to end up a broodcarrier, he was not going to be keen to be matched off with some friendly clansmecha. It would not be the same, Polyhexians had far more honour that Praxians and their receptive mechanisms were free to do as they pleased but it would also not be the same, because Barricade was Praxian and no clan would take him along for the sake of it.
“Ori, got some work for ya,” Ricochet called as he walked into the rooms his procreators had claimed, not far from the harem.
“What’ve ya done?” Punch asked, out of side. He turned the corner and saw Ricochet with Barricade. Ricochet held up Barricade’s wrist to show his originator the bangles that had been welded around his wrists. “Now how’d ya come to be in Darkmount?”
“My brother sold me,” Barricade replied. “Some mech designated Road Handler bought me and tried to give me to your Warlord as a present.”
“Rico?” Punch asked.
“Jazz beat’m to a pulp,” Ricochet replied. “Real, real dead that one.”
“Can’t say ‘m sorry,” Punch replied. “After all the time he spent in my camp as a ward, his betrayal hurt the most.”
“His clan might have a snit,” Ricochet said.
“Not if they’re smart,” Punch replied. “Come on o’er. I should have cutters narrow ‘nough to snip those off without nickin’ ya.”
It was quick work, once Ori found the right cutters, and Barricade rubbed his wrists, sighing with relief to have the bangles off. Ori ordered tisane and a tray of fuel, figuring Barricade had not fuelled in a while. Ricochet might have left them to chat but he had said he would see to Barricade and so he kept to his glyph and he fuelled with them as Ori asked his questions and they all got a better understanding on how the Praxian caravans operated. Barricade had worked behind the scenes for his oldest brother and had learned a great deal about the inner workings of the operations, despite never going on one.
“There’s room in the harem,” Punch declared when Ricochet asked where thy ought to put Barricade. “Could be good for Prowl to have another Praxian for company.”
“Prowl is not going to want me anywhere near him,” Barricade interjected.
“Why not?” Punch asked.
“Because my older brother is the one that brought his breeding rights,” Barricade replied. “He’s not going to want his rapist’s kin around him or his creations.”

Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood: a critically kind review from a femme acespec physicist <3
> scroll to the next section for my review on the physics academia content in this book!
Tumblr media
First, a quick romance novel review!
spoiler: it wasn’t my favorite but I gave it a ⭐️⭐️⭐️.75 because being a writer has made me a generally more appreciative reader + I am so starved of woman in physics rep.
the good
It just felt good to read about a woman physicist, who are still incredibly underrepresented in fiction, especially as protagonists. (I’ll go off about that in a minute.)
The romance is so swoony with shoujo manga vibes, I haven’t read straight M/F adult romance novels in a while and I just loved the flutteriness of it.
A couple of chapters were so soft with excellent pillowtalk. There was something about the ambience of the snow, the hypnotic sadness of failure, the prescence of a comforting person.
I enjoyed identifying the relatable parts about physics academia. Hazelwood clearly did a lot of research, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. It definitely kept me reading!
the bad
The academia issues are so over-simplified it’s almost juvenile. For an adult novel, even one marketed as a romcom, I expect more nuance, more explanations, more explicit lingering in tight positions.
And then the romance tries to be complex (and has a lot of potential!) but not a lot of conflict really happens.
A fictional physics fued between theorists and experimentalists is a really fun (and actually not far off) concept, but I would have expected some things to be the other way around. (More on that later!)
Okay this is personal but the main couple both have terrible taste in movies. Twilight vs white male rage movies??? There is no lesser evil here
Elsie’s hardships aren’t put in a very serious light. Her diabetes and lack of access to health insurance is used as a plot device to engineer romantic momentum between the characters and/or comic relief.
Just overall, the book tried so hard to remain “light” that I think it fails to garner depth. Because adult lives really aren’t that light all the time, and a book can bring relaxation and joy whilst including real worldly negative experiences.
There were aroace and sapphic side characters, but I wanted so bad for Elsie to be demisexual. It's set up so perfectly only for it to be averted—As a demisexual person myself, Elsie’s feelings about attraction felt acutely familiar to me, and every other reader I've spoken to has agreed that the book took a dissapointing and unexpected turn. I understand Hazelwood may not feel equipped to write queer protagonists but if I were her editor, I would have flagged that and recommended she make it canon. It would have added so much more context and dimension to Elsie, and would’ve put hetero demisexuals on the map. </3
Following up on the above: The smut tries so hard to be meaningful but it ... really is icky, stereotypical, unrealistic allocishetero stuff. Think: the shy inexperienced girl vs the man who knows exactly how to advise her. The characters try to subvert the trope by calling it out, but it feels performative because all is forgotten in the next second. The PiV sex is weirdly conventionally idealistic considering the pairing’s size difference. I’m picky about smut but also forgiving when I do like the dynamic. I just didn’t here.
Following up once again: I was ready to ignore all the repetitive comments about how sexy Jack’s height and muscles were, because sure, I guess Elsie has a type. But the sex scenes solidified the redundancy of it all. I've read this same dynamic in countless smutty heteronormative M/F paperbacks. And I have also been made aware by every Hazelwood reader that all her books focus on this kind of physical build pairing. I just want more diversity, you know?
IDK, I just wanted more physics in here than complaining about teaching, glossed over toxic mentors, and using some quirky physics term in every other sentence. (More on that below!)
I just wanted ... more? It’s not an extremely short novel, but both the plot and the character development fell flat. The ups and downs were too fast and easy, and the placement felt off. I finished the book and wondered, “That’s it? That’s all that happened?” It just wasn’t fulfilling. The side characters aren't expanded upon, and don’t get enough pagetime. My other romance reads this year were Bellefleur's The Fiancee Farce and Mcquiston’s One Last Stop. In both of those novels, the drama was fleshed out with so much care and detail. In comparison, Love, Theoretically may mention similar social difficulties in passing, but failed to really, really show us.
Overall ... the novel was fun for being about physicists but I really don’t see myself picking up another Hazelwood book, especially considering this isn’t even a debut novel. The conventional white steminist vibe and the particular allocishetero M/F dynamic just isn’t my thing.
But perhaps a reader wanting more of a novel and its characters is a good problem to have. Never say never, I guess! I look forward to keeping tabs on what Hazelwood publishes in the future!
Now, onto the physics!
Tumblr media
First, most physicists, as good scientists, understand that theory and experimentation are fundamentally linked. It’s true that we each are often biased towards our own methods of research, but it is quite a stretch to imagine full professors so blatantly feud against others solely because of theory vs experimentation. Regardless, I was happy to suspend my disbelief for the sake of the plot that was framed in a genre-specific, lighthearted, humorous way.
Secondly, both theory and experimentation have sources of funding that are motivated in different ways, and Hazelwood's decision to have the theorists struggle with funding cuts due to declining interest in pop culture/the general public is actually quite credible. Experimentation garners a lot more interest from the application and engineering end of society, parts that are easily fueled by capitalism.
However, I think experimentalists in general are far less likely to be mean to theorists than the reverse scenario. Dr Fatima Abdurrahman has a great video essay about that called on her YouTube channel called “Quantum Physics, Feminism, and Objective Reality: What Physicists Don’t Want You to Know About Quantum Mechanics.” Dr Fatima outlines how old white men in physics have maintained this image of unwavering scientific objectivity in the name of rigor, despite studying a field that fundamentally is barely fathomable for humans. In simpler terms: Men, even in theory, pretend to be better, smarter, and more valid as physicists despite being in an infamously iffy field. And I would have liked to see that represented. It was just really hard for me to buy narcissistic grad students mansplaining Elsie about her field, and Elsie’s righteous feminine rage, when the field in question is … physics theory? It just didn’t make sense to me, when all of my personal experiences point to the opposite.
But every cloud has a silver lining, and having a woman theorist in a physics field that’s less popsci-oriented is actually … really cool. And having her love interest be a man in experimentation … sort of subverts gender roles and conventional media expectations.
Let me explain. The reality is that when women are represented in STEM, media prefers to put them in biology, like a nurse to a doctor, a people-oriented nurturer, a mere sidekick to the real “objective” scientist—often a mathematician or an astrophysicist who is always a man. And when women are placed in physics, they are automatically assigned to observational astronomy, which is dismissed as passive and easy. (This is wildly untrue—though styles of research in astronomy has interestingly allowed a somewhat more diverse array of researchers in history. Even today, you’ll see a higher frequency of women and queer people in every astronomy department.)
I think my ideal version of this novel would be retaining Elsie in theory, while also making theorists the overall bad guys in the feud. I would love to have her talk about the unique sexism she faces as a theorist. I would kill for a scene in which Jack gets gobsmacked by how fucking good at math she really is, compared to him (instead of, like, only making fun of it like it’s easy). I would love to read about her getting a tour of his lab, and just more physics content. But maybe I’m the only one saying that, because I’m a physicist. Maybe Hazelwood simplified it all to keep the book appealing to the general masses.
Still, it all read more like a girlpower!!! chant rather than a real commitment to represent a woman in STEM. I savored every moment Elsie or George would go off about physics. I loved Elsie’s conversations with Olive, a different STEM academic. (Monica was more complicated and actually quite interesting, and I wish we could have seen more of her. Heck, I wish we had actually been given any tangible info about Jack’s mom, even.) But I genuinely felt these instances were rare. Elsie referred to being a physicist a lot (and frankly, her mind is more physics-y than any IRL physicist considering the sheer number of physics-inspired figures of speech she uses … but I excused that as silly comic relief, a quirk in Hazelwood’s writing style). But she didn’t tangibly do physics on page. It was disappointing, considering women characters in STEM is what Hazelwood is known for.
And there are physicists who love teaching—even physicists who solely want to teach. Physicists who do pedagogy research. I know the book was mainly trying to criticise the adjunctification and dismissal of physics higher education, and it’s actually quite accurate in representing that most physicists in academia would prefer not to teach. But the excecution also ends up erasing physicists who aren’t in academia just for research. And I say this especially because the validity of teaching physicists as physicists is dismissed in real life. It’s used as justification to further force all physics academics to try to juggle between both research and teaching, whether they want to or not.
Which leads us to bad mentors. I’ve had a bunch of those. As Olive pointed out in an excellent quote, “Academia is so hierarchical, you know? There are all these people who have power over you, who are supposed to guide you and help you become the best possible scientist, but . . . sometimes they don’t know what’s best. Sometimes they don’t care. Sometimes they have their own agenda. […] Sometimes they’re total shitbuckets who deserve to step on a pitchfork and die.” And the thing is, the novel really doesn’t show us any of that (perhaps other than in Monica). We don’t fully get to know what happened to Jack’s mom, or Olive. We are not shown what Dr L’s agenda really was. Their final confrontation was so quick, when in reality shitty mentors are often sticky and entwined with your work, hard to cut off and scarier to talk back to even after you’ve finally realized they’re toxic.
Which isn’t to say the novel is just inadequate about everything. It’s correct in how goofy physics faculty are, and how white man-dominated the field is, how students try to mansplain women profs, how theorists madly work on their computers (as an experimentalist, I could never understand), how publishing is finicky (to put it kindly), and how tenured faculty fail to understand the reality of the job market in academia today. There are certain parts (like the quote above!) where I felt incredibly seen as part of a minoritized identity group in STEM academia. It’s rare to have a book written from this PoV, and as a first I think this novel will always be special for me!
If you’re interested in reading about more fictional women physicists, I would highly recommend skimming through this list I made on GoodReads (and feel free to add more!).
And if you’d like to support memoirs and science communication books by IRL women physicists, then look to further than this other list I’ve also made. (We’re actually currently seeing a boom in these which is inanely exciting to me, so again, contributions are always welcome!)

She got the title of the 'Ghostface Princess' when she started to do content of Scream on social media
The title of 'Serpent Princess' was because the cast f Riverdale started to call her that during filming and interviews
While rehearsing for Carrie: The Musical, she was Chris Hargenssen while Spencer, her boyfriend at the time, was playing Tommy Ross, and during one rehearsal, she pulled the rope with the bucket (empty) and accidentally hit him in the back, he was okay, only a bruise for a few days (they broke up in january because he moved to Iowa)
The one sided feud with Kira started because she thought Y/N last name was weird and funny, until she found out who was her father
Sometimes when she doesn't have space in her room or closet, she uses her siblings room as storage room
She knows how to play piano
Her favorite book series is PJO and The Selection
Her favorite fashion houses are Vivienne Westwood and D&G
She became a TS fan during 2011 after seeing the music video of Our Song, and the rest is history, she has been to three tours: 1989 with her family and friend group, the Rep Stadium Tour again with family and friend group, and recently to The Eras Tour with Jack
The first horror movie she saw wasn't Scream, it was Alien
Her first kiss was with Sarah, before entering high school they were talking on how both of them haven't had their fisrt kiss yet, so they decided to kiss so that way they didn't regret having it with some other person
She already knows that when her wedding day comes, the song for the dad-daughter dance is going to be 'Never Grow Up' by TS or 'Slipping Through My Fingers' fom ABBA, Skeet agreed to that because the songs makes him emotional
She was in the teather club since elementary school, participating in Beauty and the Beast as Plumette, Grease as Sandy, The Little Mermaid as Vanessa, Matilda as Matilda, Bring It On as Eva, Hairspray as Penny, Les Mis as Cosette, West Side Story as Graziela, Carrie The Musical as Chris Hargenssen, her last role was going to be Sophie in Mamma Mia until pandemic started
Once a year, Y/N and her siblings have a small golf competition
Her first fashion campaign was with Kate Spade at 14
One ime during the filming of Scream VI, Melissa and Xavier adopted her for a day having a family day
The first thing she bought with her first salary as a Riverdale extra was her Prada nylon purse and bobba tea
(This is going to hurt) Luke Perry was like a second father to her, when Skeet had to film a violent scene, he would always distract her, helping her with homework or things like that, also attending her school plays, so when he died, she didn't left her room for a week because she coulnd't stop crying, even if the memorial was held at the Ulrich household, and when TS released evermore, she did a cover of Marjorie in his honor that she posted on Tik Tok
Her favorite movie is Corpse Bride, and always cries during the Emily song and the final scene
Her campaigns with brands include Pretty Little Thing, H&M, Coach, Hot Topic, Kate Spade, Killstar, Rare Beauty, Nyx, Charlotte Tilbury, alo, BaiBai Jewerly, Oh Polly, Tous, Armani, Club L London, Petco (ft Tatum), Dolls Kill, Cloe, KitchenAid
Her fashion icons are Zendaya, Cher, Princess Diana, Rihanna, Audrey Hepburn, Lewis Hamilton, Bratz, Monster High, Nicole Kidman, Blake Lively, Marilyn Monroe, Salma Hayek, Grace Kelly, Anne Hathaway
The love for VFX make up started when Skeet was telling her BTS facts about Scream, and it considelating during season two of Riverdale while helping with Cole Sprouse make up at the end of season two when he is beaten up by the Ghoulies
Besides the Southside Serpents leather jacket, she has a Vixens uniform (and all the variations), a Bulldogs football shirt, a Jughead beanie, a Pops uniform, Pussycats ears, a S shirt, letterman jacket, a Pretty Poisons jacket, and a 'Farm' shirt
Due to having family in NASCAR and with interest on racing, she learnt to drive at fourteen, and also knows how a motorcycle works
She (as almost everyone), had an 'all black clothes' phase, until she missed combining it with colorful clothes
Her favorite youtube horror cannels are dead meat and CZsWorld, and non-horror are uncarley, WatchMojo and Ms Mojo, Wait in the Wings, Spill Sesh, haylo hayley, Tea Spill
After meeting Jack, the song that she started to hear in her head was 'Enchanted'
Her first Ghostface mask was gifted by Wes Craven, after Skeet called him to tell him she watched the movies, the next week she recieved the mask with a handwritten letter
A F1 driver tried to hit on her two days after her 18 birthday, she left him on read (we all know who was at this point)
As almost every nepo baby, she got a bit of hate when she started to be a public figure, but ignored them, until they started to talk about her relationship with Jack and she couldn't ignore them
She knows all the Riverdale musical numbers and coreographies from season one to season five episode three
Since becoming best friends Y/N, Sarah and Abby anways practiced coreographies during sleepovers, the last time they presented them, where at the halloween party doing Sexy by Mean Girls Musical, Vigilante Shit by TS (chairs included) and Honey, Honey from Mamma Mia (ABBA)
Her favorite F1 teams are RB, Mercedes and Ferrari and drivers are Sergio 'Checo' Pérez, Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, Michael and Mick Schumacher, Max Verstappen, Dorianne Pin, Abbi Pulling, Pierre Gasly, Niki Lauda, Alex Albon, Yuki Tsonuda, Carlos Sainz Jr, Charles Leclerc, and queen Susie Wolff, and has extreme admiration for Romain Grosjean for getting out of the car on fire
Her phone case is the Casetify snake one, she just changes it depending on the model of phone she uses

How they show their adoration for you ⎯ Pyro (pt 2)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alt title: How they express their love for you Cw: (GENDERBENT) using He/Him for characters, No gender specified for reader, briefly edited so there will be some mistakes! Characters:M!Chevreuse, M!Xiangling, M!Xinyan, M!Yanfei
Chevreuse
Intimidating and strict in his line of duty as captain but has a laidback slob side to him when he's off duty, a major contrast to his personality but it's endearing nonetheless, especially when he goes looking for you to offer a share of his snacks.
Although he is fairly busy with his job, he does try to make up for it by spending time with you ⎯ in his own words: you're the charge he needs to get back to work and do an even better job. If you ever mentioned this is to ... Anyone, people from work or someone who knows him (citizens), they would absolutely not believe a single word you're saying. Him? The captain being loveable and cute? No way...
It would also be worth mentioning how he'd also be the type to buy you things, mostly food but ideally it's something that comes from the heart and the stomach. Growing up it was hard for him to get food, let alone have a proper living condition, when he had to salvage everything he finds for himself ⎯ so just let him do this one thing for you. It might be as pricey as what other couples usually get for each other, but with this? It's definitely worth his wild to spend his money on.
Xiangling
Chef of the renowning restaurant in liyue that his dad owns, while also earning himself a rep too due to his adventurous dishes. He brightly known for his passionate personality too, always wanting to find something to inspire him to create a new, delicious dish for the restaurant ⎯ even if it's a bit absurd!
A special way he likes to show his love is obvious through the stomach, he loves making food and he'll gladly cook you something up too any day. It can be one of your favourites, something you've been craving or on the more rarer occasions... Lets you eat a test dish he's been experimenting with (nothing inherently dangerous but it always ends up tasting good in the end anyways.)
He also would be very into gift giving too though, asking Guoba to help deliver a gift to you when he's too busy to do so himself and always (jokingly) ask Guoba to put a good word for him in too while he does that. And even though you don't understand what Guoba is saying half the time, with how excitingly he waves his little arms around and makes gestures... You get the idea of what he's saying and laugh at how both him and Xiangling were such an odd, but cute bunch.
Xinyan
A lively rock n' roll rockstar who, just like his performance on stage, has a passionate outlook on life and wants to shake the whole of Teyvet with it from his music.
He isn't exactly busy, in fact, has a lot of freetime on his hand to do whatever so he usually uses it to practise the cords on his guitar or, be with you. Which comes off as a bit silly now that he mentions it to you, but it's all out of goodwill.
Sometimes when he's having a hardtime trying to compose a new song for his performances, or just in general, he'd make something up on the spot about you ⎯ the genre switching from intense, hardcore rock and roll to soft relaxing strums and hums as he looks at the sunset and is yet again, reminded of you.
Yanfei
The half adepti lawyer who's always scouting and solving issues with his law based knowledge that's (somewhat) limited to how he interacts with people; only talking business and work so intently that it's almost frightening to the normal crowd, but he pays them no mind nor even spares them any attention ⎯ in fact he's more keen on knowing how you feel towards him.
Putting aside all the businesses he works on, he's actually a really friendly and sociable guy to get along with, expressing the same amount of curiosity and amusement like any other person would. However, it seems as though he's a bit more clingy? Or at least a bit more forward and insistent on wanting to spend time with you, sometimes even getting flustered when you point out his behaviour.
And mentioning this again how he's always busy, it's rare for him to spare just a single day without mentioning his work since he likes to be kept busy ⎯ even when he's on break, there's always something work related mentioned from him. So for one, it's definitely surprising when he chooses to go out on a whim, on his own volition, to not do work for once and instead be with you. How strange, right?

THOSE 21 are on the side of the insurrectionist mob to their eternal disgrace -- they include:

I am hardcore traveling at the moment, and my watch schedule has gotten all kinds of messed up (I still haven’t watched the latest episode of Be My Favorite, EGADS), but anyway, I have thoughts about another show on my mind at the moment: I didn’t have Wi-Fi on this ultra-long flight I took last night, so I could NOT live-blog the FIVE EPISODES I was able to slam out of Manner of Death for the OGMMTVC. And I was DYING because all y’all and I know that this is SUCH A LIVE-BLOGGABLE SHOW, AAAAHHH!!!, so let me just see if I can remember everything I wanted to write about in my travel haze that I usually live-blog during my very late hours (I’m caught up to episode 10):
- Bun and Tan: PRIORITIZE THE SEX *BEFORE* CHECKING THE LAPTOP Y’ALL STOLE FROM THAT CAR YOU SMASHED, obvi
- I KNEW Inspector M would come around
- Um, REALLY LOVED the elder uncle looks that Inspector M was giving Bun and Tan in the safe house after the fake shooting, lol
- So are That and Sorawit a side couple?! SMART MOVE for a not-BL
- KIND OF OBSESSED with the lovey music during Bun and Tan’s romantic scenes, like — this show hasn’t forgotten its roots, whatever those roots are (BLs? CSI?)
- I kinda think Rungtiva is somehow involved in the whole crime ring. She can take in a whole bunch of trafficked women? AND ask why they need to leave her place afterwards? A little sus. I hope I’m wrong, because I love her outfits
- Speaking of outfits, I like how MoD is quietly repping rural Thailand. I LOVE shows set in the country or outside of Bangkok — ATOTS, MLC, The Promise (not the show, just the setting, ha), ITSAY, the parts of BBS in the eco-village. Even Dew the Movie was revealing by way of setting. I really appreciate seeing clothing more akin to ethnic Thai clothing choices — reminds me of watching Indian movies and shows
- There is a SURPRISING amount of food in this show, for which I am very grateful, and
- Just, MaxTul. Love them. So my read right now (without having finished the show yet) is that I think Max is the better actor. When I was looking up Viangpha Mork, I came across a Reddit post on MoD that commented on Tul having this tic where he kinda takes a half a breath and looks up before saying his lines, which made me lol a bit, and doesn’t really bother me, but it’s like, he *does* need a second before he says anything, and I’m not sure it’s intentional for Bun. But I’m not complaining, I just think it’s funny that I saw that about him. Max, on the other hand — he’s GREAT, and I think they’re both so much improved from Together With Me.
- Oh, one more point. Bun and Tan: CLEARLY INVINCIBLE. Too many injuries to count!
I am TOTALLY into this show. Going from ITSAY to YYY to MoD has been a damn SWING, but a fun one, and it’s just extremely cool to watch a show where a romance aspect is not necessarily the center of the show. More on this analysis in my write-up, but like 3 Will Be Free, queerness here is inclusionary, and not the central point of the plot. I just love the structure, and ABSOLUTELY see how it precedes KinnPorsche. More soon as I finish it out over the next few nights.

Book Review: American Street (🇭🇹 Haiti)

American Street
Author: Ibi Zoboi
YA World Challenge read for 🇭🇹 Haiti
Review
Wow. I read this one in two days because I couldn't put it down.
Fabiola is leaving Haiti on her way to a new life in America, when customs detains her mother at the airport. She's left on her own to adjust to life with her raucous cousins, the "Three Bees" who rule their Detroit neighborhood. When an awful opportunity arrives, she must decide to what lengths she'll go to help her mother--the "shit you do for fam", as her new boyfriend says.
I loved the richness of character in the writing, and how we got each person's story told. The characters are (nearly) all loveable (though, sorry, I don't want to live with the cousins). I also enjoyed seeing Fab's spirituality through her vodou faith, and the magical realism approach the story took.
There is plenty of moral gray area. This is one of the book's strengths, as it makes no right or wrong judgements, nobody is "good" by the purity stick, and there is no ending moral lesson--we just have characters doing their best to live and survive.
Highly recommended if you're in the mood for an intense and emotional ride.
Content warnings for detainment, gun violence, character death, drugs.

GMMTV 2024 Pt.1 Thoughts
So, after sleeping and processing that GawinKrist wasn’t fixed (don’t have anything against pairs not being fixed as a concept but I had really hoped GawinKrist would be fixed as someone who really enjoyed their partnership; though I guess I should have expected this after seeing them separated by the merch previously) I decided to rewatch all of the trailers released during the livestream and talk a bit about my feelings on each trailer.
The Interest
I’m oddly excited for this, even though it doesn’t seem like what would be my type. It’s probably a combination of finding Bright stunningly handsome and being a fan of P’Waa in general. But because of it being a film, I have no idea when I’ll get to (if ever) see it. So I’m not thinking too much about it. I’m a bit disappointed by the now more lighthearted tone of the storyline, the show being much more of a romcom than the film I expected from the mock trailer. I haven’t watched the original “Man In Love,” so I don’t know what’s closer to the original story, so I won’t comment on it. I hope this film is great – at least the cinematography looks wonderful.
My Precious (series)
I am not interested in watching this show. Feel-good first love M/F romance, specifically this sort of young people in a coming-of-age story, is not something I typically watch, and the trailer hasn’t really hooked this. I feel like I am not the target audience for this. Happy for my friend @gaiaxygang, though, seeing as I’ve heard him talk about wanting to watch My Precious for his cat (Chimon) many, many times.
Ploy’s Yearbook
More teenage love. This time, with a group of main girls named Ploy. I had “I’m Tee Me Too” flashbacks at that, actually. Seeing Aye and Mond in the cast for this had me very excited, as I wanted to see them, but otherwise, not anyone I’m overly attached to. I’ll say I’m much more excited for the adulthood part of this show than the highschool part.
We Are
I wanted a PondPhuwin romcom. I did not understand that asking for one had the monkey’s paw-esque cruel twist attached of it being directed by New Siwaj. Supposedly, this was originally a WabiSabi project. I wonder what made it turn into a GMMTV project? I find it interesting how they brought side pairs in as main pairs this series, in a large ensemble cast. This is also the engineering gayboys rep of the lineup, it seems! I saw those engineering shirts! Though this seems to focus much more on the artistic men, ahaha. I will be tuning into this for my PondPhuwin – even if I have doubts on the ability of it to both be a well-written show (director) and balance 4 main couples (though the trailer seemed to do 4 couples quite well). Anyway, this is hilarious to me knowing @gaiaxygang is a big MarcPawin + WinnySatang and also hates New Siwaj. I laughed very hard.
The Trainee
I love the grounded ensemble comedy vibe of this show. While this is an OffGun series, I feel as if it’ll also be more of a workplace show, which I find charming. Also, I am intrigued by the subplots. I’m really excited for this – it’s a Parbdee production – that’s promising! And okay, I’ll be frank with everyone, I am obviously 100% excited for this show as someone with Offgun as my ultimate favorite BL pair. They look delightful here, and seeing them finally escape college is like food for the soul to me. It’s all I wanted! And they look so adorable here. I’m definitely tuning in for this show, it’s exactly what I wanted but didn’t dare to wish for when I heard the rumors of Off and Gun in the same show. This is OffGun’s world and we’re living in it. Now can Cooking Crush start airing?
Only Boo
The lighthearted tone of this was quite interesting. A show with an idol wannabe is intriguing to me, and I enjoy it, though seeing so many people I do not recognize threw me off at first. I find the idea of not being able to date because of the contract a bit overplayed (though this could be due to me enjoying BL where one is a celebrity or wants to be such) I think I’ll be waiting to see what people say about this show before tuning in, whenever it airs, unless the official trailer really hooks me later on.
Pluto
Now THAT is a show trailer! Most exciting plot GMMTV has shown us in ages, definitely from this lineup. Twin identity swap! (reminds me of Who Are You, what with Namtan, actually) A blind character! Two GL pairs! This looks so promising and is probably the newest type of show we’re getting from GMMTV. Hopefully pt.2 follows suit in really making me excited for the plot of a show. Shocking pairs, but a strong cast and premise. Honestly, this show reminded me of certain k-dramas I have watched in the set-up. Also man, that last scene. This is going to be something really special!
Peaceful Property On Sale
Such promising staff, and it’s for a show with Tay and New? I was grinning so hard. Mook is here also, and looks interesting! Jan! And I fucking love New’s character, he looks amazing, and I loved the hints at hidden depth. This may be the New character that really fully steals my heart. Tay being more shy is also killing me. That NewTay moment! Who would have ever guessed they were going to make a comedy ghost hunting show! Saw some doubts about it being a romance between TayNew, and honestly it doesn’t look like one, but I couldn't care less either way. Show looks stellar, and I love the vibes of it. I didn’t expect something like this, and I’m so hyped about it.
Ossan’s Love Thailand
I was just floored. The least expected Japanese BL remake (I’d have said almost anything before this one) and featuring EarthMix. No idea how I feel about this, so I’ll just move on.
My Golden Blood
I wanted a vampire series. Setting aside my personal feelings, I am definitely tuning into this to see how it goes. Hopefully the effects are better in the proper series. I find it charming they play basketball together (fitting to their real selves) and I find it great seeing Neo here! Honestly, though, this show is very much giving the vibe of a Wattpad book. And I could enjoy that (I did, after all, read Wattpad stories a lot when I was younger) or I could not. We’ll see. It’s definitely very interesting to see GMMTV produce a show like this. I’ll keep my hopes up.
Kidnap
Very cautiously excited for this series. If you know me you know I love kidnapping – which might sound weird but like it’s all about that reluctant kidnapper falling in love with the man he wasn’t meant to have feelings for. Vice versa falling for someone who kidnapped you and having to reckon with the complicated feelings that come with that, along with the consequences of everything, because there’s a reason for the kidnapping in the first place! Not very big on the cast but goddamn if I didn’t go “Man, I wish there was a kidnapping BL for GMMTV 2024. Too bad I don’t think they’d go for it,” like two days ago. So yeah, I’m excited, even if I don’t have full faith.
Summer Night
Might watch this for Phuwin, but honestly, not really feeling this. Guys who like the same girl, another highschool series where Phuwin is meant to be the “unpopular loser” type, a pretty basic premise. I’m just not very interested in the story – Phuwin is cute as hell though, and I like JDPP, so I’ll probably tune into this.
Wandee Goodday
This one looks ridiculous, and I like it. It also seems to be the overtly sexual show of the lineup, which is quite interesting. A friend-with-benefits story with GreatInn. One of the stronger comedic shows to me, and I’m interested in where it’ll go. I’m tuning in.
Highschool Frenemy
A remake of a drama I never watched. So, I feel like this is the darker highschool story of the lineup for 2024, which is interesting. Honestly, all of the darker shows in this lineup have felt like a breath of fresh air, oddly enough, mainly because of the sheer amount of lighter shows. A part of me wonders if pt.2 will reverse this feeling, or if this is how GMMTV is planning the next year to be like. I don’t have much to say on this one, might watch it, might not. I’ll just say, though, that this trailer did not hold my attention at all.
My Love Mix-Up
The moment I saw that eraser I went: oh my god it’s GeminiFourth Kieta Hatsukoi. I actually thought about this before? I was like haha, what if GMMTV picks up Kieta Hatsukoi, it would fit in, haha. And in my head I was like well it would go to GeminiFourth or something. So I’m gonna claim I was on the wavelength for this. However, I am not that excited. They could have gotten something else, I swear. And I’m not the biggest fan of the source material in the first place. We did not need another Japanese BL remake. But I guess the story does fit the GeminiFourth vibe, so we’ll see. Now I’m gonna be on edge if they ever remake Utsukushii Kare (my favorite BL of all time).
Enigma s2
Okay, so, I’ve been saying I want this every day since I watched Enigma. The vibe of the narration immediately got my brain racing, like, is this it? Then Win showed up and I was still in disbelief, but yeah! Enigma s2! We’re getting it! I am so excited to see it, and I’m incredibly curious about how it’ll go. Are they getting Bright back as the main villain? What’s Toey’s character going to be like? Is this going to focus more on Ajin’s story? What about Prim? I’m so, so excited for this one. And I hope it keeps up the level of quality s1 was on!
EXCITED FOR, 100% WATCHING
Enigma s2, The Trainee, Pluto, Peaceful Property
WILL LIKELY BE WATCHING
Kidnap, We Are, My Golden Blood, Wandee Goodday
MAYBE WILL WATCH
Ploy’s Yearbook, Only Boo, Ossan’s Love, My Love Mix-up, High School Frenemy, Summer Night
Conclusion: I was a bit disappointed by the same-y nature of a lot of these shows. We Are particularly is a letdown in premise despite a great cast, there’s a lot of remakes (and like I’m not against remakes in general, but there’s too many and I don’t understand exactly why), and the M/F dramas seem very basic. There’s also a LOT of BL, and yet some of them are probably being pushed to pt.2 (FirstKhao, Joongdunk, Forcebook) which signals even more BL? I’m starting to wonder which of these projects will come out in 2025, because there is just so much. Anyway, if you know me you know I’ll probably mainly be waiting for pt.2 to see Krist’s project for 2024. But in the meanwhile I’m happy OffGun is as real as always, PondPhuwin is back, TayNew are in a show, and we got an interesting GL.
