It really is insane to me that PJSK will have a father character who harshly criticizes his daughter's art in a backwards attempt to prepare her for the unforgiving nature of the art world... only for the majority teenaged fanbase to conclude that he must regularly verbally abuse his kids, to the point where neither of them want to have a relationship with him anymore.

some times i see people talking about the Earth and climate change saying things like "now i know it is difficult to deal with utter hopelessness, terror, and visiting the thoughts of death"
and it's like wow I am so deeply sorry about the suffering. but...concern. Concern. Tell me, am I missing something important? Why do I feel a sense of hope for our planet? Am I a lonely fool? Have I been consumed by naïveté and misguided optimism?
That would be weird. It feels weird. It feels like I would be well suited to despair. My natural temperament is Mortal Terror making my body crushed for a thousand years at the bottom of the deepest trenches of the ocean. I've thought before "I can't live any more. This exceeds the tensile strength of the human spirit."
And then? After irreversible catastrophic failure of the soul, there is...what?
We try to imagine the future where we fight to save our home and it is very painful. The resistance feels so small and the machine of death feels so vast. But something's missing.
Everyone else is missing—the plants, trees, bugs, beasts, and creatures. Hello? Are the other humans seeing this? Nature wants you to know that she is not a princess in a tower. Look! Look at the chaos moving through every cell! Iterating! Adapting! Becoming! Thriving! Watch the pollinators tirelessly at work, observe the mycorrhizal network in the forest floor distributing the rich fruits of decay and photosynthesis for every inhabitant! Pay attention! We belong here too. They feed and shelter us, give us the very air we breathe, and in return we plant and propagate, cull, thin, and burn, shape, trample, till, shepherd and sprout seeds. Our species can look toward the future, to the world of our descendants. We can call every plant and animal by name and teach our children to use and care for them responsibly. We can feel this anger, pain, and grief on behalf of the family of Life, OUR family, and we can love the smallest beetle and the humblest moss.
Look at it! This thing is nothing like me, it does not benefit me, it has no use or purpose for me, but LOOK at it! Look at its intricate structure! Look at the marvelousness of its behaviors and biological functions! Look at its uniqueness throughout the whole universe! Look at it, and see its infinite value!
I saved a baby tree from the scorching hot gravel of a parking lot. I watched it grow and thrive in the hands of its caretaker. Many more followed, trees and herbs and flowers, rescued and carefully placed in cups and old tubs that once held yogurt and sour cream. This is so strange, I thought. They're everywhere, offering themselves for free, and no one thinks to take them. Everyone thinks transplanting a tree is hard and that nothing grows on the edge of the pavement but weeds. But it's so easy??? This is weird. Plant Nurseries Hate Her: Get Free Plants With This One Weird Trick.
I protected an old barren garden patch where nothing had thrived from being mowed and weed-whacked, and transplanted little plants that I found. I marveled at the bees that came. Chicory bloomed, then asters and goldenrod. I shed actual tears over a spicebush swallowtail. I ordered some milkweed from the internet, and the monarchs came for them. Less then twenty-five bucks for a divine experience like this. Wow, everyone else really needs to know!
I started volunteering at a nature center, and was allowed to transplant flowers where they sprouted in inopportune locations. I collected tons of seeds all fall and winter long.
There is much, much more, all of it bigger than I ever would have imagined. But this spring there were more birds, in number and in species, than I'd ever seen in my back yard before. Chickadees, swallows, finches, nuthatches, jays, cardinals, warblers, sparrows, woodpeckers of every kind...I remembered just a couple years prior when all I ever saw out there was a couple grackles or starlings or robins, with the occasional sparrow. Those birds come in flocks rather than couples now. And then the bumblebee arrived. An American bumblebee, endangered now, a queen. For a few days she was always out there, would fly out and buzz around me when I came out to tend to my now-innumerable plants. It's nesting time for them. She chose this place I was creating. She saw that this place would take care of her.
A week ago, I discovered wild strawberries growing in my Mamaw's driveway. I found lyreleaf sage growing beside a gravel road. I've become a master of transplanting; I took several of each home. Yesterday, I saw a tiny, metallic blue bee, an Osmia mason bee. Today, I saw an oriole and a strange, very fancy fly. I see something new almost every day. Every day I am being irreversibly changed as a person. How did I ever fail to see how much this matters?
I said I feel hope...do I feel it? I don't think it's a feeling, I think it's a practice. It's being part of our communities and our ecosystems. Nature's interconnectedness is both reality and example: to survive, we take care of one another. And when one member of the community helps another thrive, it creates a cascade that increases the thriving of all. Just by existing, you help us all survive.
You can only take care of so many plants before you have to give some away. You can only hold so much knowledge before you have to give it away. I gave seeds to a dozen different flowers to my next-door neighbor and she invited me inside and wouldn't let me leave without food, and we talked about plants and trees. A family friend lets me have goats' milk and heirloom vegetables in exchange for help around the farm, and I listen to him talk about trees, bugs, and soil and learn so much I feel like I'm about to explode from knowledge.
Being a caretaker is unavoidably a community-oriented, community-forming thing. You can't grow plants all by yourself. Your garden will make too many tomatoes. Share them. Your milkweed will make hundreds and hundreds of seeds. Spread them. Wild blackberries invite you to take and eat. Your lonely retired neighbor invites you to talk and keep her company. Once you grow delicious fruits or little oak trees, you always have a reason to greet someone and say, "Look, it is a gift!"
We're not alone. We are not separate. We take care of each other. Every species, every individual. A single action of caretaking creates a cascade effect of thriving. A single unapologetic love for a creature creates a blossom of curiosity and fascination in everyone surrounding. It's so powerful.
As my chemical romance says "I am not afraid to keep on living"

Let’s talk about the Watch What Happens (reprise) and why Only Davey could’ve sang it.
Like at this point they’re pushing the Katherine and Jack agenda, why shouldn’t she be his inspiration to keep going in this moment???
And the answer is cause she can’t grasp the situation fully!!!
Let me make it very clear that this is Not Katherine slander. I love her. I think this scene highlights the differences in their struggles and upbringing in a really brilliant way.
When she sees Jack wants to quit in this scene she’s so harsh with him. Doesn’t try to empathize with his situation at all, wants him to just buck up and keep going! Because for her, in her situation, with her upbringing, that’s the only way to get anywhere! She wants to be a reporter? Well she can’t listen when she’s told no. She has to push ahead no matter what. She can’t show fear and she can’t show weakness cause she’ll be called a girl like it’s a bad thing and have it used against her. But she doesn’t see her privilege in this! That in coming from a rich powerful family her physical safety can not be put in jeopardy! Her worst case scenario is moving back home and having to deal with her family’s idea of what it means to be a women in this time period. And don’t get me wrong that’s horrible, it would be a terrible and unfair outcome.
But it doesn’t threaten her physical safety!! (Not to say this is true for all women in her position but the show paints a picture that her dad does genuinely love her in his extremely misguided way and we never see him threaten her physical well being or even to stop bank rolling her). She can’t understand that sometimes you need to let a fight pass you by to survive. She doesn’t understand what it really means for Crutchie to be in the Refuge until later. So she pushes hard and it would’ve just ended in a fight where her and Jack miss each other’s points entirely.
But Davey gets it. Maybe not to the extent Jack does, but Jack said it himself Davey’s dads physical safety being jeopardized at work has threatened his whole family’s housing and food security. Something that could’ve been prevented with a union. He knows that this isn’t safe, he fully grasps the danger they’re in, to an extent that Katherine can’t because she’s never threatened by it. Not really. For her and her rich friends she involves this could just be a pet project (she would never view it that way of course) but if this all goes pear shaped all she has to live with is the guilt not the consequences. Her life continues with maybe some delays depending how long her blacklisting lasts.
But for Davey this could be the choice that means they can’t afford food or can’t pay rent. This could be the choice that means Les can’t go to school and his dad doesn’t have a safe place to recover. He gets it, he matches Jack’s fear, but he can’t backdown when they’re making real changes that Jack is having a hard time seeing in the wake of losing Crutchie to an institution that is a large source of his trauma. He needed empathy and hope not an ass kicking and Davey delivered.
Without him that scene would’ve ended with Jack running away a lot sooner and a lot more permanently. Rant over. Hopefully this is semi-well articulated it’s late and I couldn’t sleep til I got this out.

Imagine coming home from a long day of running errands to see ¡yandere! Sam Trapani beating one of your admirers to a bloody pulp on your front door step.
Tumblr media
Warnings: Gore, violence, mentions of stalking, obsession, forced relationship
A/N: I drew this at the depths of night when I couldn’t sleep. I haven’t seen really any yandere mafia stuff soooo…… here you go!! Art + headcannon…you may now feast.
Requests: open 24/7
Bonus pt.2
(I mention that the admirer is young, I mean like Sam is 40 so the other guys is late 20’s to early thirties. Sam is just getting insecure about his age)
Sam had been stalking and slowly trying to court you for about a year and he’s getting closer to his goal of finally making you his; but this new guy that just moved in next door is just fucking it alll up.
It first started with the guy going over to your house to introduce himself and harmlessly wanting to be a friendly neighbor. Then quickly become bolder and bolder with his flirtations, much to Sam’s dismay! Could you believe that THE Sam Trapani is extremely jealous of this guy?? Probably 10 years younger and quite handsome, That boy is a serious threat.
You laugh louder at his jokes than you do at sam’s, your clothes are getting much more revealing and the way you prance your little ass over to him anytime he calls your name was seriously eating at him and he’s at his wits end of it. Sam knows he’s getting older but is his charm really that stale now?
Even when Sam is having a full conversation with with you this little shit will come around and inject himself into the whole interaction. Sam even started going grocery shopping on your schedule just to be able to have some alone time with you and yet again this man appears out of the wood works. Every. Single. Time.
(Okay that’s a little dramatic but the point still stands…Sammy cannot keep up with him. He’s finally met his match and he’s so whiny about ittt)
The other guys noticed this and found it extremely hilarious, Trapani wasn’t the hot shit of the town anymore and there was someone younger and more good looking ready to take his place and his girl. They poked fun and joked how Sam was now officially an old geezer and that a young damsel like yourself wouldn’t want anything to do with him. They fed into his insecurities and made everything just ten times worse. Of course they meant no harm, Sam usually wouldn’t be hung up on a girl for too long and plus he still had pretty much every other woman of Lost Haven in his hands so what what the big deal? Why were you so damn special anyways?
“Look Sam,” paulie breathed in between laughs. “Y/N is admittedly very gorgeous but just leave it alone at this point. She’s very obviously more into him than you. What about that broad down at the Corleone…what was her name??”
“Michelle..” Sam gritted in a low venomous tone
“Right, Michelle! Maaaaybeee…you can get her out of that hell hole and I’m sure once she cleans up nicely she’ll be…something of a wife” Paulie erupted into laughter once again after finishing that sentence, barely able to hold back the tears that accompanied it.
Sam already decided enough was enough and there was no point in trying to play this whole love game thing fairly. Going down to your house and giving it to you straight was the only way he could think of doing this. He wanted your love story to feel organic and for your admiration for him to slowly bloom but you’re obviously not getting it. You don’t understand that Sam is the only possible match for you.
So much time stalking, analyzing and carefully articulating every move he made with you isn’t about be washed down the drain just because some bright eyed sucker wants to fuck you. No…it’s okay though. You’re just slightly misguided by all the butterflies and fluff but soon he’ll lead you right back to where you need to be.
As his car approached your door, he noticed a fellow holding a huge bouquet of flowers and a wrapped gift in his hand ready to knock on your door. Obviously Sam’s time was running out far sooner than he had previously expected at that moment something inside of him snapped.
Without thinking any further he got out of his sleek black car and opened the trunk, out of it he grabbed a bat and started towards the young man.
”Oh hey Sam! I’ve been knocking on y/n’s door for quite some time now. Do you know where sh-“ before the young man could even finish his next sentence the bat connected with his head and continued to do so as Sam kept striking him over and over..
Nothing was said out of Sam’s mouth as he beat him to a pulp…actually nothing could be heard throughout the entire neighborhood outside of the thwacking of the bat and the cries that escaped the admirer’s lips, pleading for him to stop. Everyone in the neighborhood silently watch from a distance, they all knew of Sam’s affiliation and no one wanted to be next on Salierie’s list. Even the birds decided to stop chirping in fear they too would meet the same fate as the fellow
This continued on for another couple minutes before a blood curdling scream broke Sam’s attack.
“Sam?!? What the hell are you doing to him????”
Hearing you’re familiar voice, Sam swiftly stood up to face you, hurriedly trying to explain what happened.
“Look…y/n calm down, this is just a simple miss understanding…”
He flashed a brisk smile and steadily started walking towards you
“Just come with me and we can speak about this over dinner, huh? You’d like that?”
Shaking your head and carefully backing away from the deranged man, you cried out
“No…n-no…no Sam….” A breath passed “Y-you gangsters are all the same…you hurt people without cause, just look at what you did to him! He was a good man!”
Sam for a moment, stopped walking and looked back at the bloody scene he had just created before looking back at you.
“Oh sweetheart…”
He began walking towards you again, this time faster so he could catch your arm.
“…trust me when I say, this isn’t the worst i could’ve done to em’. ”
Pulling you in close to his chest, he moved slightly to the side of your face and lowered his lips to your ear before speaking again,
“I’ve got something to make it up to you, doll face.” Looking down at his bloody and bruised hands, he held a perfectly intact rose…

My Top 10 Sulemio moments
It's been a whole week now since our girls' story ended but the brain rot remains, so I'm listing out my favourite Sulemio moments from the show.
List is going under the read more because it is long and has many images.
Tumblr media
Number 10 is this small conversation from Episode 9 between Suletta and Shaddiq. The reason I love this so much is that it’s the first time that Suletta really takes pride in the fact that she’s Miorine’s groom. A lot of people are of the belief that Suletta first starts really developing romantic feelings for Miorine after Episode 7, and I think this scene really highlights that change in Suletta’s feelings.
The other noteworthy thing here is that it really illustrates the difference between Suletta and most of the other people in Miorine’s life which is that she actually trusts Miorine to make her own decisions.
Tumblr media
Number 9 is the late-night conversation between Suletta and Miorine in Episode 4. I love this scene not just because it’s the first time where they really start to learn more about each other, but also because it does set up the parts of their character that would cause problems for them later. Suletta is proud to carry the expectations of Mercury because she loves the idea that she can be useful to them, whereas Miorine thinks it’s an unfair burden to carry. It’s a nice set-up for the later drama to come when these two aspects of their personalities clash.
And this is something that I really love about Suletta and Miorine’s relationship. When there is friction between them, it always comes from a place that is true to the characters rather than the drama coming from forced “misunderstandings.”
Also, there’s only one bed in Miorine’s living area and Suletta certainly wasn’t leaving to go back to whether she slept before she joined up with Earth House that late at night. They 100% shared that bed.
Tumblr media
Speaking of friction between the two characters, here’s Number 8 on the list, the Greenhouse conversation from Episode 16.
I find Miorine’s desperation in this scene to be really heartbreaking, she’s looking for any sign, no matter how small, that Suletta might go against Prospera’s wishes if the circumstances were right, but Suletta’s still in too deep at this point. The fact that Miorine is visibly hurt by the conversation here says so much, considering how far she’s previously gone to maintain her composure. Even during the big emotional moment in Episode 11, she doesn’t want Suletta to see her cry, but here she genuinely breaks emotionally and can’t hold it in at all when Suletta admits that she would kill for her mother.
Tumblr media
Number 7 is Suletta reaching Permet Score 5 and it’s a moment I love for more or less the same reason I love the previous scene, any scene where a normally stoic character really shows how much they care is an incredible scene in my opinion.
And of course, everything leading up that is excellent too. Miorine choosing to trust Suletta’s decision to pilot the Calibarn despite the very real dangers, even pushing to activate higher levels of Permet when the others were hesitating is a perfect display of Miorine’s faith in Suletta, and a perfect turnaround from her earlier, misguided attempt to protect Suletta from the Gundam’s Curse.
Tumblr media
At Number 6 we have the moment that this show left me with permanent emotional scars.
Miorine forcing herself to abandon Suletta for “her own good” was always going to be heartbreaking, but they really twisted the knife by having Suletta fantasize about their perfect wedding while Miorine’s fingers hovered over the trigger. And then on top of all that, they just had to go and play the damn Happy Birthday song AND have Miorine tossing back cool-san! Like, they really stuck the boot in there.
Like, when I was re-watching the show, I have to admit I found it genuinely difficult to re-watch this scene again and that’s how you know it was really well done. Suletta begging for another chance while her entire life crumbles around her haunts me.
Tumblr media
Show of hands, how many people started watching the show because of this exact scene? Cause seeing people talk about this moment was definitely what got me to watch the first episode.
Don’t think I have to elaborate too much on how good this scene is or what it means for their relationship, but I will say that Suletta’s reaction when she finds out she’s engaged is probably still my favourite Suletta face.
Also, Miorine completely sidestepping the potential “but we’re both girls tho?” drama by talking about how common gay marriage is was perfection.
More shows should have that amount of courage.
Tumblr media
Number 4 is the happy ending. After everything these two went through over the course of the show and also some of the dumb stuff that was said about their relationship by real people, seeing them end the show married, in love and living their best lives was unbelievably cathartic.
Also, extra bonus points for having Suletta end the show disabled and not having it treated as an awful tragedy that mars the happy ending or having it be something that she can just overcome with sufficient willpower.
While I would have loved to have seen the wedding on-screen, the fact that we ended the show with married sapphic women in as big a franchise as Gundam is already pretty incredible.
Wedding OVA when tho?
Tumblr media
At Number 3 we have Suletta and Miorine using healthy communication for the first time!
As I said earlier, one of the things I love about the relationship between Suletta and Miorine is that any drama between them is true to their characters, Suletta is insecure in her relationships and needs to feel “needed” to feel safety in those relationships and Miorine is cold and closed off emotionally since her upbringing makes it hard for her to trust. As such both of them have trouble communicating exactly how they feel.
That being said, in order to be truly great, conflict and drama needs to be followed up with by a satisfying resolution. And in terms of providing a satisfying resolution to all that drama, they absolutely knocked it out of the park in this scene. Miorine explaining to Suletta how much her life has been changed for the better since they met, actively working to accommodate Suletta’s desire to feel useful and asking to be together forever. Like everything here was exactly what it needed to be.
Also, as well-done as the emotions were here, it would be remiss of me not to mention the goofy looney tunes style chase scene that proceeded it was also brilliant.
Tumblr media
The number 2 spot on the list goes to the formation of Gund-Arm inc.
When we meet Miorine she is very upfront that her one and only goal is to escape the Benerit Group and go to Earth. Although she passes up on the chance to escape from Earth to save Suletta in Episode 2, she’s still pretty clear about what her ultimate goal is. Although it goes unsaid for several episodes after this, this is the moment that Miorine decides that keeping Suletta safe is more important than making it to Earth by willingly tying herself to a Benerit Group company just to keep Suletta and Aerial safe. Even bowing before her father and begging for his help, probably the last thing that Miorine ever wanted to do, in order to make sure her plan worked. If this scene doesn’t illustrate just how much Miorine was in love with Suletta even at this early stage of the story, I don’t know what will.
In addition to the scene just being completely incredible in every way, the other reason it ends up so high on this list is because this scene marks a pretty clear turning point in Suletta’s feelings for Miorine. I think most people now, generally agree that this scene is probably where Suletta starts falling for Miorine for real, and after rewatching the show I think that idea comes across very clearly. From this point onward, Suletta clearly takes a lot more pride in her title of Groom, she’s a lot more openly affectionate towards Miorine, and also a lot more concerned about how Miorine perceives their relationship.
So yeah, awesome scene, huge turning point in their relationship, Number 2 spot.
Tumblr media
And finally, we reach my number one favourite Sulemio scene, their reunion in Episode 22.
Just take everything that I said about the scene from Episode 11 and multiply it by 10. Suletta reappearing in Miorine’s darkest hour to remind her to keep moving forward was everything I needed after a rough couple of episodes for Miorine.
Also, the whole scene is just a perfect show of how Suletta developed over the course of the show. Suletta starts the show shy, insecure in her relationships, not particularly confident in her words, and following orders rather than working toward her own goals.
Here, Suletta is able to speak with complete confidence about how Miorine changed her life, about the things that she’s done wrong and the things she wants do better, and about her desires for the future.
Of all the scenes in this show, this is the one that had me tearing up the most, and for that, it absolutely deserves the number 1 spot on my list.
Also, that handholding. Hoo boy, that is the most emotionally intimate handholding I’ve seen in my life.
So yeah, that's my list of my favourite Sulemio moments. If your favourite scene wasn't one of the ones that made my list, then tell me about what made you love that scene so much because I love this show, and I love these characters and I will read anything about them.

Labyrinth
Labyrinth tells of pain of a past relationship, combined with the realisation of falling back in love with them. Similar to bejewelled, I think there is an element of looking at a current relationship ending through the lens of a past one. It references a 1D song Harry wrote, Half the world away, which was leaked August 2020, 5 months before Midnights was started. HTWA also refers to the tension over Harry saying 'I love you' in Say don't go on 1989TV. It was played at the 9 November Eras show with The Very First Night.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Labyrinth starring David Bowie
The title makes me think of David Bowie's 80's film. The green vinyl also had similar image to background to the cover art. Bowie is a key influence for Harry. In Labyrinth, Bowie is a Goblin King, Jareth, who gives Sarah 13 hours to solve his labyrinth in a misguided attempt win her love. Sarah and Jareth are temperamental and wistfully invested in dreams... not unlike certain popstars.
As well as the Bowie reference this is related to the theme of being trapped or unable to get over this love.
Lyrics
It only hurts this much right now Was what I was thinking the whole time Breathe in, breathe through Breathe deep, breathe out I'll be getting over you my whole life You know how scared I am of elevators Never trust it if it rises fast It can't last
The first verse is reflecting on the emotional turmoil during the relationship (1989) and is rich in references:
Half the World Away "deep in, I'm scared I'll stop breathing"
OOTW "Are we in the clear yet? / In the clear yet, good / Are we out of the woods yet?" When discussing OOTW Taylor said she constantly felt like she needed to overcome the next step.
Suburban Legends "It's ruined my life"
Gorgeous "you've ruined by life by not being mine"
I Wish You Would: "I’ll never forget you as long as I live"
Taylor also referred to this lyric in her NYU speech (27 mins) 4 months before it's release "Hard things will happen to us. We will recover, we will learn from it. We will grow more resilient because of it. And as long as we are fortunate enough to be breathing we will breathe in, breathe through, breathe deep, breathe out. And I am a doctor now, so I know how breathing works."
Also Getaway Car includes a line from Hilary Duff's Breathe in. Breath Out. (X marks the spot where we fell apart) Taylor also 'referenced' this song musically for Paper Rings.
Harry also sings Breathe me in, Breathe me out in Watermelon Sugar.
Uh oh, I'm falling in love Oh no, I'm falling in love again Oh, I'm falling in love I thought the plane was going down How'd you turn it right around
The chorus tells of realising that a love she thought was gone has come back. It references a leaked One Direction song that
Say don't go has a similar 'oh no' to this 'uh oh' meaning realisation, there it is that is is ending, here it is that it has come back.
On One Direction's Half the world away Harry wrote “I want you around, 'round, 'round / Are we going down, down, down?”
It only feels this raw right now Lost in the labyrinth of my mind Break up, break free, break through, break down You would break your back to make me break a smile You know how much I hate that everybody just expects me to bounce back Just like that
The bounce back line is to me where we can see the similarities drawn between a past relationship (Harry) and most recent (Joe). The announcement Harry and Taylor split (for the boat time) was in real time. With paparazzi photos of them both over the next days. She learnt from that and stopped sharing at all when she dated Harry again and with CH and Joe the announcement came months after.
As in many songs, Taylor's mind is a labyrinth and she can't get past this love. She tells herself if only feels so raw, but the chorus speaks to the 'built to fall apart and get back together' nature. The pain is her anxiety as described in Gold Rush, Slut! and Say Don't Go, and focus in I know places.
Harry has sung about Taylors smile and sacrifice to have her:
Someday (sung by Michael Buble) "I love seeing you happy / I miss seeing you smile" and "For her I bend, for you I break / And if I can't be yours now / I'll wait here on this ground / 'Til you come, 'til you take me away / Maybe someday"
Half the World Away: "Now I walk to you 'til my feet hurt / So tell me that's not good enough"
If I could Fly: "I think I might / Give up everything, just ask me to"
Half the World Away also has a similar structure, both repeat the chorus about a plane/relationship going down many times at the end.

aside from congratulations, I have a request.
If you could do something very angsty for me? The whole fic is happening while y/n is smoking a cigarette, she *ran* from her fraction to dauntless because her parents were abusive and too strict, now she is stuck between two men who want her. The love-hate relationship with Eric and the too needy and draining with Four. In the end she puts the cigarette out and decides whatever you feel like.
I'm just feeling angsty fics lately, you know? Thanks in advance❤️
ok but the cigarette as a framing device for the plot is so superior, anon your mind >>

Tumblr media
There’s a spark on the table in front of you, one bright bit of red in the midst of all this darkened gray and gloomy charcoal. Your mind races ahead of your body, wondering if you should put it out before a fire starts. Anyone else would, you think, the possibility of further damage too great for any temporary satisfaction of inaction.
Instead, you cross your legs and watch it until it burns out on your desk. Over your time in Dauntless, you’ve learned how to gauge risks, how to tell what’s going to blossom into something deadly and what is just that, a spark, something that will flare for a second and then die out into nothing. There are far more sparks than people care to think, just embers in ashes that will choke out soon enough. Hardly any risks are worth the revolutions that people like to imagine.
In the end, maybe that’s the lesson you learned from Dauntless, that everyday acts of bravery are only valued because they have no real meaning. Anyone can tell themselves that they’re changing the world when they pick up a blade and choose not to send it spiraling into someone’s head, or when they stand up to a playground bully for using their fists one too many times.
Talk all you like of integrity, of courage, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. Nothing does matter around here, that’s precisely how Dauntless works. You send a bunch of diehard adrenaline junkies into a building, whip them up on lies and promises to never be afraid again, and see what happens. They’ll cloak their bodies in black shadow and save you the trouble of trying to convince them to hide themselves away.
Dauntless sticks to Dauntless out of misguided pride. Thus, the other factions don’t have to waste a single breath in convincing the brave to stay away from their pure homes when your fearless faction already keeps to themselves more than even the Abnegation.
But you guess that’s what you signed up for back when you chose Dauntless in the first place. The cigarette you’ve been smoking sends up a flurry of ash at the moment, as if even the smoke can’t bear to think of the memories even more than you could. Doesn’t mean you can hide from it any more, though, and you take a drag just to wash down the foul memories with a blast of acid down your throat.
It comes as quite a surprise to anyone who’s ever known you to hear that you weren’t a Dauntless-born. You’ve seen your share of shocked reactions, how their eyes widen to a comical size before they start proclaiming that this couldn’t be, that you’re the most Dauntless person they’ve ever met. Of course you are, you’ve butchered parts of yourself in your hurries to cut away all that wouldn’t fit in here. You are what they made you, and in the end, that is Dauntless through and through.
Once upon a time, though, you weren’t. The image appears in a wave of bluish gray mist, and when you close your eyes, it burns with all the fervor of the sparks still clinging to the lit end of your smoke.
You hadn’t just been a transfer, you know, you had been worse. An Amity, the worst kind of person to ever end up here. There’s no one the Dauntless hate more than the Amity. At least the Abnegation had the common sense to try and claw for power over the city, even if they’re misusing their position to waste resources on those who can’t better the place.
The Amity, though? They’re such a lost cause that it’s laughable. Who in their right minds would ever cast away the chance for success and ambition to run forever out in the never ending fields surrounding the city limits, pulling crops and wiping sweaty brows until you die? Their smiles are all fake, everybody knows that. It’s a front for something malevolent, like the fact that not everybody is so thirsty for blood that despite all odds the yellow clothed faction might actually be kind.
That scares the Dauntless more than anything, so you spit at this totally foreign enemy and cast them aside. There’s a reason Dauntless soldiers gunning for a new place on the wall have to be forcibly conscripted into serving time in Amity. They swear off ever stepping foot in that faction, even though it’s statistically impossible that the city wall could have guard towers all around without having somebody there to watch over Amity.
You don’t bring it up, your heritage. It’s not your birthright any more than it’s Max’s, or Eric’s, or any of the other Dauntless leaders. You are no longer the sort of person who could live and die without a fight. You’ve split too many lips and knocked out too many teeth to ever look at someone smiling and not feel a need to end it.
It just wasn’t for you, that’s all. For Amity parents, yours were certainly on the stricter side of things, and you grew to hate how they ordered you around in the midst of Amity’s supposed freedom. The hypocrisy rankled, dragging at your skin with nails and talons until you could bear it no longer.
Maybe, if you hadn’t been someone who grew up with such desperate hatred of all who promised sweet things and never kept their end of the deal, you wouldn’t go out looking for the complete opposite. Dauntless would never lie to you like Amity did because Dauntless will never claim to be a place where flowers could bloom or skies could stay sunny forever.
No, if Amity was a spring morning, Dauntless is damned hellfire through and through. It’s still warmth somehow, still bright and fierce as anything, but worse, in a way that makes you spit at the world that could have been yours. Dauntless teaches you to be strong so that you can make others weak, but at least you get some sort of pride out of it.
Your light is burning through the cigarette faster and faster, a small heap of ashes collects on the surface of the table in front of you after you tap it. They spread out immediately, staining the tips of your fingers with a silvery sheen.
It hadn’t been enough to just live in Dauntless, you wanted to own it. Same as everybody else, of course. If you’re at Dauntless, you want to be at the top. That’s the principle of the place, and also how it manages to keep its wheels of war turning year after year. The people who end up winning want to stay ahead of everybody, and those who are dealt a losing hand push others down to get to a better level. The constant falling and rising keeps the faction in perpetual motion.
So, if you were set on making it big here, it makes sense that you’d brush shoulders with the same sorts of people. There are two types of viewpoints when it comes to shaking Dauntless to the core:  those who want to make it worse, and rarer still, those who want to make it better. There are two names that come to mind when you think of this particular dichotomy, two young men who would give their all to wake up and see a Dauntless utterly different than the one they met during their shared initiation.
Eric Coulter is the first kind of radical. He’s more monster than man, which is precisely why you get along with him so well. Eric saw the fight in you, that hunger to either change this faction or tear it down to your level. He’d sooner kill than save, but no one’s instincts are better in a fight.
You take another breath of smoke and fire when you think of him. Eric is your slow poison, the one you always love to pick. He’s a rush, pure thrill with a human mind to make you worse. You spend a week head over heels, and Eric makes you feel like you could take on the world. The next seven days, you hate him so much you can’t think straight because he took your broken pieces and shattered them even more.
There is no reasoning with him, your madman. Eric is on a course straight to hell, and when you’re together, you run with him as fast as you can. If this is how you die, at least you’ll do it with a smile. You have never been stronger than when you’re by Eric’s side, and he is the same with you. He is Dauntless in the way that a blade is Dauntless, for cutting without a second thought; how a bullet is Dauntless true, for striking clean through fear you have ever dared to call your own.
If Eric is the brutal side of Dauntless, though, then there must be someone on the other end to balance him out. You met this counterpart during the initiation that the three of you shared. Years later, the training instructors would say that they’ve never seen the top rankings switch around so often as they did when the three of you were going through the initiation process. Eric would be on top for what he claimed would be forever, then you’d snatch the lead from him in the blink of an eye, and then the title would be conquered by someone else, and that someone was Four.
Four. Four fears, four weaknesses when everyone else seems to have so many. Four has something even more uncommon than Eric’s furious strength:  calm capability. Four could look down the barrel of a gun pointed at his head and talk a shooter out of killing him. Four could look at you and see someone not just capable of love, but worthy of it as well.
You may never understand him. Four came from twisted memories, just like you, but where it’s only sharpened your jagged edges, Four’s past has made him kind. Every day, Four wakes up and decides that he’s going to take the fight against madness and win. He takes the power that Dauntless instills in its wild youth and uses it to spare, not to damn.
The worst part about the saving is that Four refuses to stop trying to free you. If he could come out of the tailspin of Dauntless, he’s certain that he can pull you out as well. The only issue is that you don’t particularly want to be dragged out onto dry land when drowning makes you feel more than you ever have. Not everybody is cut out to be a martyr, and Four’s cardinal sin is that he can’t fathom that you wouldn’t share his unconquerable spirit to save and save and save again.
It’s exhausting, in all brutal honesty. The smoke burns your lungs as you think of it, how Four begs and pleads with you every other night to do better, to come out of this. He’ll chastise you for your monstrous tendencies, then praise your strength, anything to convince you to come out of the dark and into the light with him.
Doesn’t he get it, though? We are all in the darkness here. There is no light to be found, no great fire to run towards in the midst of inky blackness. The only sparks are the people here, the points of brightness that will burn themselves out before they manage to contribute to any real flame. Nothing is real here, nothing but the blood we spill and the bones we break. Anything else is a delusion.
That doesn’t stop Four from trying, though. Some days, it feels as if you’re caught in the middle of one great war. Eric convinces you to kill off the rest of the world in favor of being the one left after it all ends, then Four makes you believe that there might be a life for you in which you could lay down your weapons and just rest, just be whole again.
In truth, neither side is quite you. How could you pick a side if neither one is right? Eric’s face comes to you out of the darkness, the sharp edges, the cunning smile as he drags you down beside him. You’re in freefall with him, constantly waiting for the impact, knowing that both of you would gladly pull the other with you if it meant you would die with someone you loved by your side.
And Four, his eyes as warm as blood coursing around a knife. He is the closest you will ever come to forgiveness, the only shot you have at ever being more than this mass of bullets and endless rage. Four is your chance at an armistice, your one way out. If you do not have him, you will never have anything again.
And do you, in the end? Want anything that cannot be yours without someone guiding you to it? The answer comes slowly, brought over in ripples of bluish silver smoke that curls around your fingertips like the rush of scarlet around a fist. You want what you have always wanted, that rare delight that made you choose Dauntless over anything else back when you were sixteen and living was still something that you couldn’t understand. Do you now, though? Will you ever?
You close your eyes, letting the burn of nicotine on your lips do the talking instead of your own words. You’re making your choice now, just as you did in your Ceremony all those years ago. There aren’t just two paths before you, there are countless journeys that are yours for the taking. You’ll run down as many as you please, with or without who you please. Two young men were not where your story began, and they will not be where you end.
Neither of them, then. Eric is too cruel, Four is too draining. You are some mess of both of them, and that means you have enough of their spirit to ever need them by your side forever. You take one last drag, then stamp out your cigarette decisively on the smooth surface of your desk. Down the hall, you can hear a gun fire at the same time, the echo spinning around your head with the last strains of smoke. This is not your epilogue, you know. Only the start of something new that only you will see. It is your choice, then, to see what you make of it.

Pick your most unpopular opinion about each of these shows (only if you want to!!): Degrassi, OTH, Gilmore Girls, Friends, Riverdale, That 70s Show, and Dawson's Creek :)
Degrassi:
This is so difficult because I feel like I've stated so many opinions in the past. Okay. I think the Degrassi nudes arc was theoretically really interesting from a psychological standpoint as well as how a survivor would cope after going through a very public sexual assault trial with the details of what happened to them being well known. Because it feels like something so human and yet so misguided, I don't view Zoe's role in it as harshly as others do. To be fair, the writers lost the plot. Literally. It got really sensationalized with blackmailing and cheerleader dolls and fake hostage situations. I also really hate how it turned into a Zoe vs Frankie situation with zero nuance. Their past involving Frankie being an unsupportive friend who victim blamed Zoe multiple times was never brought up once in lieu of Frankie being turned into Zoe's victim. So while I wouldn't say I like the arc itself, I feel like it had potential. The writers just weren't committed to seeing it through and let Zoe down as a character. The aftermath was really underwhelming and made the whole story line irrelevant.
OTH:
Even though I like the shooting episode for what it is, it's a pretty mediocre depiction of characterizing a school shooter. Following Jimmy's suicide, the writing consistently expects the audience to feel sympathy for him and remember him as a good guy who did one bad thing. It's to the point where the entire school ends up signing his high school yearbook. To be fair, a lot of the Jimmy romanticism came from Mouth, who had weird morals himself considering he was the show's resident incel. But beyond that, Jimmy quickly stops being the villain of the episode to orchestrate a scenario where Dan just happens to stumble upon Keith and a gun, giving him the opportunity to murder him. Also, every other scene features monologues given by the characters that are blatantly trying WAY too hard to be deep and profound. Not to mention this episode marked the official return of romantic Lucas/Peyton, but because Peyton was bleeding and supposedly didn't know any better she can't possibly be held responsible for selfishly making a move on her best friend's boyfriend in what she believed to be her last moments. Sorry, fuck that. Your last moments shouldn't include complicating things for two people you claim to care about. Especially not when you were the one who helped ruin their relationship the first time around, and you know for a fact that your best friend still has trust issues over what happened.
Also, Brooke was the love of Lucas's life. I'll die on this hill. Blame Chad Michael Murray's inability to stop giving his ex-wife heart eyes even during scenes post-Brucas, but it is what it is.
Gilmore Girls:
It's difficult to know what is or isn't popular in the Gilmore Girls fandom. I guess I'll say that Rory dropping out of Yale was the right decision? The way I see it, nothing bad was ever going to come out of that. Rory was in a transitional place where she was questioning a lot of her life decisions. She didn't currently feel up to attending school, so she took some time off. It was completely understandable, yet the narrative insists that this was indicative of Rory going down a bad path. I can understand Lorelai wanting Rory to take some time to make sure this was what she wanted but if anything, Lorelai's overreaction probably made Rory take even more time off from school. Had Rory had her mother and best friend in her corner, maybe she would have realized by the beginning of the next semester that she was emotionally ready to return to Yale. Just.. everything with Lorelai, Richard and Emily feeling as though they could force Rory to go back to school as though she was suddenly going to lose her place and never be able to return was stupid. Out of the two of them, Lorelai was the pettiest and most in the wrong during their estrangement. Lorelai was the parent. Lorelai chose not to tell her daughter she was engaged. Rory shouldn't have ever felt as though she couldn't come home until she basically did everything her mother wanted her to do. Considering Lorelai's own history with Emily, you'd think she'd realize that. But again, the writers made sure we knew how badly Rory was ruining her life and making bad decisions for committing the crime of taking a leave of absence from school and daring to try other things in the meantime.
Friends:
My opinions on the Ross/Rachel infamous "break" are all over the place. Technically, I think Ross is right that their relationship was no longer intact when he slept with another woman. Their communication absolutely sucked during this story line. No attempts at clarification were ever made. Ross just walked out when Rachel said she wanted a break, and Rachel let him. Honestly, I don't even think Ross sleeping with someone else so soon after splitting up from Rachel, in whatever form you consider that to be, makes him an asshole. In an ideal world where everyone makes rational decisions all the time, Ross wouldn't have coped with intense heartbreak by immediately sleeping with someone else. But it was a human reaction, and I don't fault him for that. What I do fault him for is hiding it the next day, running around town trying to stop other people from telling Rachel. It's all but admitting that Ross and Rachel were still emotionally connected and in the mindset of being in a monogamous relationship. Even if they technically weren't. What I also fault him for is being so stubborn and adamant on being right that he never admits fault or owns up to causing Rachel pain for several years after that. So what if he didn't technically betray Rachel? To Rachel, it felt like one. Sometimes, when you love someone, you have to be understanding of the complexities of emotions and just take the fucking L, even if you're technically faultless by definition. And honestly, Rachel was part of the problem, too. What kind of relationship or connection do you really have if you're having the same, obnoxious argument for eight years, never able to get on the same page? Like, I know it's a comedy, but Friends wasn't playing up the comedy angle during this arc. Anyways, they definitely shouldn't have ended up together if they were going to keep getting tripped up over one argument for eight years.
Riverdale:
I don't know how unpopular this actually is, but Veronica is extremely underrated and never gets the love and appreciation she deserves. Looking across the entire series, including time jumps, different universes, and eras where the characters literally had powers, Veronica was consistently the most selfless and considerate character on the show. Half the time, she was the mean girl in name only. There were countless occasions where Veronica forgave even when she shouldn't have and/or should have held out for more remorse and effort from the person that wronged her. The attempt to compare Veronica kissing Ginger Judas in the pilot after knowing Archie and Betty for two seconds to Betty doing it three years into Varchie's relationship is.. it has some nerve. Anyways, Veronica was wonderful, ambitious, and everyone on that show was better for having known her. Sadly, she was underappreciated more often than not, rarely ever getting her due. I really wish anyone but Archie had been the love of her life, because he really didn't deserve her by the end.
That '70s Show:
Sometimes, Hyde gets way too much of a pass for his treatment of Jackie. I feel like he's overall the most popular character on the show with his relationship with Jackie being the most popular, resulting in a lot of his questionable behavior getting swept under the rug. Obviously Hyde had issues he needed to work through stemming from his childhood and struggled to let other people in. But Jackie was consistently a pretty great girlfriend for him, going out of her way to show love and affection, only for him to not 100% reciprocate. Fuck Danny Masterson (and honestly Mila at this point too), but a lot of what made that relationship what it was is the chemistry between Danny and Mila and how they chose to demonstrate the love between those two characters. Hyde was still miles ahead of Kelso and Fez and had great moments with Jackie. But it still needs to be said. Hyde put Jackie through a lot.
Dawson's Creek:
While not perfectly written, most of Andie's fall from grace during season 3 makes a lot of sense. I even think Andie cheating on Pacey was in character. It's a controversial take because no one wants to believe that season 2 Andie would have ever done such a thing. But the reality is, Andie had a literal mental breakdown. She says it herself. When Andie went to get mental health help, she was no longer the same girl Pacey fell in love with. Andie was in a dark, lonely, vulnerable place, and she met someone else. This guy understood parts of Andie's mental health struggles that Pacey couldn't, and it led to a friendship that became an emotional affair. They made their own world together, and then had one, impulsive slip up. It doesn't cheapen Andie's love for Pacey, but it's still understandable that Andie crossed a boundary of Pacey's that couldn't be uncrossed. After this, Andie's attempts to recuperate post-breakup, including her treatment of Pacey and even stealing the test were pretty consistent based on how desperately Andie wanted to appear normal and as though everything was under control. However, I also think early season 3 stacked the deck too far against Andie, resulting in her character leaving the show early. The supposed "false accusation" meant to make Andie look bad from a misogynistic, ableist showrunner took it too far. I personally think even during that episode, there are enough hints, including Rob's desperation to shut Andie's story down when she hadn't even gone to the authorities, indicates she told the truth. Seriously, his happy ass was all cocky when Pacey confronted him, but once he sobered up he practically sprinted to Joey's house to use Andie's mental health against her, even manhandling Joey multiple times to force her to listen. But whatever. The intent was obvious, and I still hated it. Anyways, Andie McPhee was great, and I wish people would still appreciate her at her worst. After all, it's what led to season 4 Andie, probably the strongest iteration of her character even though she sadly wasn't around for long.

Solar Opposites: The Rise of The New Order Ch. 11/Epilogue (by @avaveevo)
Tumblr media
A few weeks later…
Korvo and Terry are seen snuggling after having sex as they smile. Terry wakes up to check his phone and gasps
Terry: Oh shit! We're gonna be late for the wedding!
Korvo: On it!
Terry and Korvo gets ready for the wedding along with the Replicants and Pupa and AISHA and Teraformus and Jessica. Later, the family arrived at the wedding.
Korvo: I am so happy for these two.
Terry: Heh! I know.
Then, out came Moran and Xinna, who are wearing wedding clothes as they walk down the isle.
Xinna: *lovingly* Oh Moran…
Moran: Ready to spend the rest of your life with a handsome guy?
Xinna: *giggles* Yes. Yes I am.
Jesse then gets out the bible
Jesse: Do you Moran, promise to take care of Xinna to honor her in sickness and in heath, for as long as you both shall live?
Moran: Hell yeah I do!
Jesse: And Xinna, do you promise to love and take care of Moran to honor him and sickness and in health? For as long as you both shall live?
Xinna: I do.
Jesse: Now let’s hear those vows!
Moran: Xinna, from this day forward, I’m keep loving you throughout my whole life! You are one of the bravest Shlorpians I ever met! I love you!
Xinna: And Moran, you are othe most funniest Shlorpian I ever met! The way you try to hard to make people proud is amazing! That’s what I love about you! And I’m gonna keep loving you forever too!
Jessica cries with joy
Jesse; And by the power invested in me just for today, I know pronounce husband and wife. Okay go ahead and kiss! I wanna see this!
Xinna takes her crystal of her robe and she and Moran smashes it as they seal their vow with a kiss. Then, Korvo heads out for a bit as he realizes something as “My Life is Changing” starts playing.
I guess I was wrong
The people of Earth truly can be changed
Now Tortus is gone
I fear that I made the worst decision
I should’ve never allowed him to just
Go ahead with the New Order
Does it mean anything
To pass for divine judgement now
My life is changing
For better or worse
I must accept the truth that
My life is changing
All I’ve known is a lie
Can someone tell me why
The New Order are open to heathens
I don’t know where all this will take us
But my life is changing
So I need to change with it too
What was I thinking
The New Order Don’t Seem Very amazing at all
As the head rookie
How could I tell Kim-La she could fall
Redemption is impossible
For all the souls down on Earth
If I didn’t know better
I’d have mistaken this heathen as one of us
What other lies does the New Order hold?
Is this place worth its weight in gold
Are we no different to them?
Why is it we get to ascend?
Is the New Order misguided?
There must be something I can do
To the save heathens in hurting too
My life is changing for better or worse
I must accept the truth that
My life is changing
All I’ve known is a lie
Can someone tell me why
The New Order is open to heathen
I don’t know where all this will take us
But my life is changing
So I need to change with it too
Korvo sighs but then turns around and looks at his family as he smiles.
Terry: Korvy, are you okay?
Korvo: *giving Terry his hand* Care to dance, Terry?
Terry: Yeah. I would love to. Then after that, are you ready to head home?
Korvo: Of course.
Korvo and Terry kiss and then starts having a romantic slow dance as they smile. Then, the scene cuts to the Solars packing up their things with Kim-La and Karna joining them. Bee, Xinna, Gadget and Moran starts saying goodbyes to them.
Bee: Well, Kim-La, I guess this is it.
Xinna: I hate goodbyes. God damn it! We’re gonna miss you so damn much!
Moran: *crying hysterically* We’re so happy for you!
Gadget gives Kim-La a holographic communicator
Gadget: Here. You can call us through this. To keep in touch. Thank you for being part of The New Order.
Kim-La smiles
Kim-La: Thank you guys. *gets int a group hug with her friends as she smiles tearfully* Karna, it’s time. Come along. *to the rest of the New Order* Goodbye you guys. Thanks for everything.
Karna: Bye bye.
The rest of the New Order shout their goodbyes while Jessica and Teraformus comes up with suitcases as they happily approach the Solar Opposites, who smiled at them.
Jessica: Room for two more?
Korvo: Yes. There is.
Teraformus and Jessica join the hug. Korvo places a hand on Terry's face
Korvo: Ready to go home?
Terry: Yes. Yes I am. But I just need to do one more thing.
Korvo: Oh and what is that?
Terry: This.
Terry and Korvo embrace in a kiss as they moan lovingly. Then, AISHA starts the ship as it takes off after Kim-La, Karna, Jessica and Teraformus hop in the ship. The rest of the New Order and Shlorpians wave goodbye as the ship takes off. Then, a few weeks later, the Solars arrived home as they land on their house and heads outside as they smile.
Korvo: *sighs* It’s great to be home.
Kim-La: So this is Earth? It looks amazing!
Korvo: Well, to be honest I hated the place at first.
Then he smiles at his family.
Korvo: But I was wrong. It’s a wonderful home and it was worth it.
Terry smiles as the two husbands embrace. Then, the family along with Jessica, Karna, Kim-La and Teraformus looks at the sunset. A monologue from Korvo is heard *like the one from the Amphibia Series Finale*
Korvo: *monologuing* Change can be difficult, but it's how we grow. It can be the hardest thing to realize you can't hold on to something forever. Sometimes... you have to let it go. But of the things you let go... you'd be surprised... what makes its way... back to you.
Korvo then gets an idea how to celebrate his family’s return to Earth.
Korvo: Oh Terry? *seductively* You want to celebrate our way back home with sex?
Terry: Oh hell yeah! Let’s fucking go!
Cue Korvo and Terry kissing and moaning lovingly in their bedroom as sexy music plays
Korvo: This is the best sex of my life!
Terry: *laughs* I know, right?
The two husbands keep sending and moaning in ecstasy as the credits rolls, the songs in the credits are “Pompeii” from Bastille and “No Quite Paradise” form Bliss 66. Then comes the end credits scene.
3 months later…
Korvo is giving birth as he keeps pushing.
Korvo: FUUUUUUCK! OH GOOOOOOOOOD! TERRY. HOLD MY HAND!
Terry: Come Korvy! You can do it! Come on!
Korvo starts crying in pain. Terry holds Korvo’s hand as he keeps pushing. Then, Korvo gives one final push as he screams, then a baby’s crying was heard.
Doctor: Congratulations, it's a girl!
The doctor wraps the sproutling, who has Terry’s skin color, in a blanket as the doctor hands in the infant over to Korvo, who shed tears of joy along with Terry.
Terry: Hi sweetie. It’s us. Your daddies.
Korvo: She’s like a beautiful flower sprouted with hope. We shall name her… Lili.
Lili looks at Korvo and coos
Korvo: Welcome to the world Lili Solar-Opposites… we love you…
Lili falls asleep and sucks her thumb. The two alien husbands look as their baby and then embrace in a kiss as the screen fades to black.

What if. . What if Star holder au had a reverse/swap au? How different would it be?
Hello!
I'm honestly not TOO clear on what this means. My best guess is that you mean something similar to Underswap? So I will work under this assumption (feel free to send another ask correcting me, I won't mind)
Heads up, SH spoilers below (up to the most recent update, no farther):
Star Holder would have gone to Moon, not Sun. HOWEVER since this is a swap and not Dad Moon, Sun would be right- Moon wouldn't be a very good dad due to the way he still feels Emily's loss. Likely, he'd constantly draw comparisons and find the Star Holder doesn't hold up.
Because of these shortcomings, the Star Holder would be less of a sheltered lamb and more of a hardened little go-getter. Probably much more skilled in the Star's gifts. Rough n tumble, but not mean.
Since this is a swap, Sun was the less favored child. Instead of Solaris taking out his frustration on Eclipse, he favored Eclipse for having the gift of fire and Sun kinda... didn't get much of daddy's attention >.> This has actually made him a much more focused leader. He's a bit of a micromanager, actually. ^^' He does get to paint in his spare time tho
Eclipse received so much attention and praise and he... hated it actually. There was a lot of pressure on him to succeed and become the next leader of the pantheon- something he thought he wanted. But the role drove a huge wedge between him and his brother and he didn't even realize it until it was far too late :')
This is where Afton comes in- in a desperate bid to find a way to fix things for Sun, Eclipse sneaks into Luna's office to make a deal with Afton (only, he's a bit older than Sun was. And he also knows what he's doing.)
Well, that was a huge mistake wasn't it?
Eclipse steadily becomes just as paranoid as his father and he's pretty terrible. Unwilling to let anyone into his heart. Well. For now :)
Lunar and Pluto will be switching places. <3
Pluto doesn't attack Moon or become imprisoned; instead she simply leaves the pantheon after Eclipse's terrible leadership causes the lead spill that takes away Lunar's family. She's disgusted with his behavior.
Lunar, for his part, is imprisoned after a much more direct confrontation. Pluto, seeing Lunar as a misguided youth, decides to break him out (which takes considerable effort).
Over all, the whole pantheon is lacking in some deeply needed compassion.
Eclipse actually chooses to have the star made because he thinks (thanks to Afton) that the star will grant his wish and turn back the clock so he can do it over better. It makes him a more reckless leader- because he believes he will be able to remedy it all later.
Sun and Moon actually fight with Eclipse to stop him from using the star because they KNOW he's up to something, but don't know what. The attack is a deep betrayal that confirms all of Eclipse's paranoid thoughts and makes him shift from apologetic to heart broken.
A demon is born when a god falls into the depths of despair.
What could be more despairiung than losing your friends and brother in one go? :)
That's right baby- Eclipse is fully possessed by the time SH comes knockin'. And why are they there?
Because he called to them to heal an injured friend, of course.
Who is the friend?
Aurelia. (Do you see where I'm going with this?)
Julian is Sun's friend! Millie is still in the Luna temple, though she and Moon have a much more professional relationship.
I have so many more thoughts about how this COULD play out, but I'd love to hear some of everyone else's. I think the thing I love the most about Star Holder and it's adjacent AUs is getting to hear other people speculate what could be <3
Hope you enjoyed this answer all the same!

The God and the Gumiho review
Tumblr media
5/5 stars Recommended if you like: fantasy, mythology, Korean mythology, multiple POVs, enemies to lovers, mystery
Big thanks to Netgalley, Del Rey, and the author for an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This was definitely one of my favorite reads of February! It's got the perfect blend of magic, shenanigans, scheming, enemies-to-lovers, and humor. I was definitely on the edge of my seat as Hani and Seokga searched for the eoduksini, and while they got closer to one another with Hani still hiding her identity.
I definitely thought the worldbuilding was interesting. Most of the time is spent on a world where humans and immortals exist side-by-side, with the former completely unaware. So the characters have normal, everyday things like coffee, cars, and cellphones, but also have more magical items like swords and charms, and come across humans and magical creatures alike. I also liked the details about items the magical community could by from the store, particularly the non-human-liver alternatives the gumiho eat since Hani's Scarlet Fox spree resulted in the banning of eating human livers and souls. It's a small part of the book, but I thought it was a nice touch.
I absolutely love Hani. Her hidden past as the Scarlet Fox means she's notorious in immortal circles and not only is responsible for the ban on gumiho eating human livers and souls, but is also the gumiho with the highest kill count. Despite this, she's actually pretty normal and down to earth. She's also pretty funny, both intentionally and unintentionally, and I liked her blasé attitude about eating livers (and thus killing people). Hani clearly cares deeply and while she's dedicated to misguiding Seokga in regards to his Scarlet Fox investigation, she earnestly wants to help find and defeat the eoduksini. She also strives to help her friend Somi throughout the book and feels responsible over the younger gumiho.
Seokga, on the other hand, is a complete and utter asshole. But he grows on you. The trickster god is still bitter about being thrown out of the godly world and having his own realm of darkness locked up after his attempted coup. It's unclear how much of his personality is residual from that and how much is just him naturally, but Seokga really does not seem to care about anyone, nor very many things (other than coffee, man is particular about his coffee) prior to the events of the book. That being said, it becomes clear that Seokga does have deeper ties to his exiled life than it seems, and even he comes to the realization that there are some people that he cares about. It's easy to forget that Seokga was a trickster god because he's fairly serious and dedicated to his investigation(s), but it shows up in odd moments, such as when he cheats at rock, paper, scissors. Despite the fact that he's an asshole, Seokga does have a certain charm about him, even before he begins being a more...tolerable person.
The romance is, obviously, between Hani and Seokga. They balance each other out pretty well once they get past their barista-customer annoyance. Seokga is able to play 'bad cop' with ease while Hani is a much more soothing figure and the type who can calm crying witnesses enough to give a cohesive statement. I liked seeing the quirks they brought out in each other and am glad they get their chance at a happy ending.
The whole Scarlet Fox thing really is a mess. Hani was just enacting a kind of vigilante justice when she got the bright idea to take their livers as a treat for a friend. Unfortunately, the killings align too much with her 1888 spree and whaddya know suddenly there's a hunt on for the Scarlet Fox. Hani definitely does not want to get caught, and she definitely doesn't want another gumiho taking the fall in her place, she'd rather the whole thing just fizzle out and get written off as a fluke, and she's willing to attach herself to the investigation, and thus her least favorite customer Seokga, in order to achieve that. While there were some tense moments when I was worried about her getting caught, it was humorous to read about Hani doing her best to thwart Seogka's investigation and coming up with absurdities to get it done.
The eoduksini is the more serious of the two, particularly since the eoduksini has the potential to create a dark world in the realm shared by humans and immortals, something no one wants happening. There are a lot of twists and turns in this part of the investigation and I was definitely trying to work it out myself as the characters were. At times I felt confident I knew who it was, and then something new would happen and I would second-guess myself or Seokga and Hani. I was very invested in finding out who the eoduksini was and seeing how things would play out there.
Overall I greatly enjoyed this book and definitely recommend it to fantasy lovers. Seokga and Hani are pretty different but each bring humor to the novel and the two of them fit well together. I thought the worldbuilding was pretty interesting and I enjoyed getting to know the world and the magic within it.

As I sidestep all sorts of debris, you come from the shadows to greet me with a full body hug. You place a well-worn fedora on my head at a jaunty angle and murmur your appreciation for meeting you in this decrepit old warehouse. I’m a bit perplexed, but this is not the first out-of-the-way location we’ve used for uninterrupted secret frolics in an clandestine environment. I know what to expect… not only from your upright excitement twitching against the shallows of my hips, but the fact that I am being methodically undressed in your embrace. You remain fully clothed in your suit jacket, while I am reduced to a bra, thong, garters, stockings, heels… and this felt fedora. You dust off a chair to offer me a somewhat comfortable seat. I cock it backwards to balance on the back legs, feeling a bit unstable myself. I watch as you pace and ask if I want to hear the history of this old abandoned building. Of course, I have no where to go, in my present state of undress and being so makes me a little impatient as to why we’re not engaging in pleasurable pursuits. After all, we do have the place to ourselves, and there is no other human for miles to discover our debauchery.
“This is an old munitions factory. I worked here as a kid, running errands for my dad who happened to be the foreman. He was widowed, so it was the best way to keep track of me when I wasn’t in school. Poor little motherless child… It was good training and experience and it gave me a little pocket money for comic books and gum balls. Kid stuff.
I also lost my virginity here… when I was 15… to an older woman. At the time I thought it was the best thing ever, at least the sex part. As time has gone by, I wonder how it has affected my sex life… the course of my whole life. She was the bookkeeper, a knockout, buxom, shapely… a bombshell, to hear the whispers of horny men working the line. She wore dark stockings, fishnets sometimes, high heels that made her hips dance when she walked. Plenty of men noticed and followed her with their eyes whenever she walked away. She was kind, but needy… lonely… a bit misguided, obviously. She kept coming back to me for more, which I was more than happy to give her. In return, she taught me how to please a woman, which in retrospect was for her own pleasure and selfish needs. I was more than willing to put the lessons to good use, knowing I was having sexual releases my school chums had no way of fathoming. I never told anyone, fearing it would all come to a halt… so I sensed it was taboo… and extraordinary for someone my age. I was too young and developed an attachment to her that I described as love… when it was really just lust for the forbidden and hidden secrets we shared.”
“Fifteen, seems really young… and inappropriate.” “It was, but she felt so good, smelled so good, tasted so good… and I suppose I was susceptible and looking for a maternal substitute. Oh gawd, that is so twisted.”
“You’re not the first man looking for a mommy replacement…”
“Except, I was a child, maturing too fast with a woman who should have known better… classic…”
I am at a loss for words, but you aren’t finished with the story.
“So this went on for a couple of years, at first in her office with the door locked. It was the quietest place to do my homework when the factory was in full production mode. The machines were thunderously loud, and my father insisted I needed a place to concentrate on my studies. little did he know what side curriculum I was being exposed to. Later, we would meet at her house, when my dad thought I was fishing with friends or some other excuse that wouldn’t raise suspicions. I had become very attached to her. She was also escalating her sexual workshops to benefit her experimental nature. There were sex toys and bondage and role-playing, which I embraced as normal, she being the only teacher I knew. I did date girls my age, but I had been spoiled by her abundant skills and ease with the sexual aspects of life. My female peers were ‘too young and immature for my tastes’ at this point.”
“Prom must have been a total sham… to keep up appearances?”
“Don’t get me wrong there were make-out sessions and light-petting, but I held myself in restraint, knowing she would be waiting for me to relieve the built up sexual tensions with a ‘more advanced… exciting’ approach.”
“So you’re near graduation at this point…?” I can hear your memories are fond, but I sense there is another shoe about to drop.
“Didn’t you join the Navy, right after high school?”
“One day, I came home to find her in the front room talking to my Dad. I froze, figuring she had come clean… was remorseful for taking advantage of me… was tormenting me with some new sex ploy… a million things raced through my mind in that moment. Then I noticed they were sitting very close together on the couch, her lipstick was a bit smeared and they were holding hands. He had never remarried, but unbeknownst to me, had been carrying on with her outside of work. I knew her appetites well enough to know she was having sex with him as well. I held my shit together, smiling as best I could, while they announced their impending marriage. She stared at me, imploring me with her eyes to stay mum. I was heartbroken, angry, confused and thoroughly discombobulated, but I offered my congratulations to them both. I had become an expert at keeping secrets since I turned 15.”
“Oh my god, that is so twisted. Did you ever discuss it with her? Did she ever explain?”
“My dad was so happy, he had been so lonely for so long… or so I thought. Either way, I couldn’t burst his bubble by confessing to my underage activities and her particular kinks. That was their pillow talk to have… if ever. The best solution was to forego college and enlist. Luckily, I was assigned to a ship that took me as far away as possible to lick my wounds and sort through my sexual past, trying to make sense of my coming of age, so to speak.”
You have taken me in your arms to warm me and comfort my indignation. Your kisses are deep and your hands have found responsive niches to calm me from my outrage and ongoing questions. I imagine the original source of your smooth maneuvers and surrender to your masterful touch, mindful that you were taught by a woman as randy as I am right now. There is still no excuse for her grooming of you for her own jollies or the two-timing betrayal. Unfortunately, human sexual response is often more powerful than our puny human minds can do battle with. There are so many instances of such behavior across the planet and throughout all species. I get lost in trying to unravel the logic and switch to my animal self that is reacting to your intimate touches and affectionate exploits of my yearning body. You are leading me to a room and unlocking a familiar door to your past. I recognize ground zero from your story and realize there is some attempt at a healing re-enactment taking place. The room is dusty, but intact from its long ago inhabitants. You point out the small desk where you finished your homework, and her desk where she kept the books and fostered your sexual awakening. You nuzzle me as if asking permission for this indulgence. I’m a bit dizzy from my own arousal as you remove the fedora and place it on a coat rack in the corner. “It was my father’s… I need a little exorcism for my sins…”
You remove your suit jacket and hang it on the peg beneath. In the shadowy light, it resembles a man standing nearby to witness what is about to transpire.
Rolling up your shirt sleeves you whisper apologies and your intentions to follow through.
“This is the first thing she taught me.”
Your kiss is heartfelt and deep and sets my head to swimming with its intensity. Meanwhile your warm hand is caressing my neck and trailing down to my breasts to free them from my bra, deftly unlatched with your other hand that pulls me into a closer embrace. Your thumb strums one nipple, then the other, hardening them as they swell. My moan is reflexive as your lips soon follow the same path to nibble at the pert nubs, now ultra sensitive from the attention. I am gasping and trying to dispel the vision of you as a 15 year old attending to my role as the older woman that taught you this expertise. Both hands wander to my derriere and massage the flesh with gusto, teasing the cleave between the cheeks as you pull me closer to your hips. You are harder than our first contact before the story unfolded, and it gives me pause. I will concentrate on that sequence of events after… for now I squirm against you and spread my legs to accommodate the healthy bulge. My moans become lower as you nurse and try to consume my breasts whole. Even lower when your fingers stroke my moist swollen folds before entering me up to your second knuckle. There is wizardry in your touch and I have suddenly forgot my name and the circumstances as you open me wider with another finger and use your thumb to knead my tenderest nub at the entrance. “This is the second thing she bewitched me with…”
With your grip from behind and within, you hoist me to her desktop and spread me flat with long strokes while you survey the nakedness of my flesh. I feel adored and tantalized as you smother my whole body with kisses and tongue strokes from my trembling lips downward to my inner thighs. I can barely contain myself as you slide my ankles over your shoulders and drag my panties away from the treasure that glistens. You bring them to your face to inhale the scent, nuzzling them before releasing one leg to let them dangle from the other. All the while you stroke the length of my thighs, inside and out to sensitize my skin as a prelude to my unbridled pleasure.
“You are exquisite, I cannot resist any longer. Please allow me to gift you with this orgasm…”
I nod and whimper and plead in nonsensical words that mean yes. Your tongue strokes the drenched folds, now swollen with desire, to prepare for the tip to wiggle inside and explore. All the nerves are firing at once and I quiver when it becomes a thicker snake squirming as deep inside as it is long. I am motionless and without sound from the profound sensations as jolt after jolt of pleasure radiates from my core. When I am able to take a breath it is that of an ecstatic beast, quivering with unexpected exhilaration. When you add a suction to your thrusts, I am undulating with overwhelming raptures my brain can’t process. The length of your tongue seems infinite and I prop myself up on my elbows to watch the long slow strokes of withdrawal and re-entry. You meet my crazed gaze with a knowing look and push deeper still. My body takes me over the edge without hesitancy or delay and your suction trick amplifies the climax and multiple cascades that follow. I am spent and wonder why this has been so different than our past sessions. I caress your face unable to undo the hurt or damage of your youth. You are silent as you kiss me deeply. Drawing in a deep breath,
“My dad passed about a month ago…”
You hush me as I begin to offer my heartfelt condolences.
“He was old, it was his time… she has reached out, after all these years… she wants to explain.”
I can see you are struggling with the decision whether to accept her olive branch. There is absolutely nothing to say and the unsolved dilemma is solely your own. You stare at the coat rack, lost in some memory that I cannot read on your face. You return to kissing my vertical lips to forget… or self soothe… or prove something to yourself… for once and for all.

I'm not sure it's possible to get a bingo with this card but pick any or all of Nearl/Siege/Horn and give me your Opinions
it IS possible to get a bingo! but you may not like me after this.
NEARL
Tumblr media
Nearl is such a fucking chad. the first real events i got to do anything with when i started last year were the maria nearl rerun/pinus sylvestris/near light trilogy and holy shit. after being only mildly plussed by her in the intro chapters, nearl became a favorite almost immediately. I don't usually love super chivalrous knight type characters, they're fine, i have no particular bias towards them, but marge is a really well realized modern version of this trope that lands super well with all we see of kazimierz and its hellish culture. obviously as a huge lesbian i was immediately enchanted by her behavior in her event, the dance with liz melted my heart, the homoerotic light and darkness sword duel with viviana made me go insane, she's SO COOL dealing with the blood knight... i wasn't that into the kazimierz plot to start with but nearl (and flametail!) made it my second-favorite subplot in the game all on her own. red circle above is because i cannot tell, due to my somewhat insular choice of fan circles, whether the general fanon is that she's in a poly thing with the Followers or something stupider and more wrong than that; if that's the take, we have a bingo! If not, move that circle over to "everyone but me is wrong."
I know people don't like her staying in kazimierz, but if i can drop a hot take -- and i can, it's my fucking blog and you've chosen to be here, sucker -- i actually like the vibe in near light that you cannot just stride in and crush societal ills and overthrow Capital just like that. helping people is still meaningful; doing the work of dismantling oppression is meaningless without making sure people survive to do it in the first place. her decision comes from a place of altruism and care for the people of her homeland, not from a misguided belief that she can work from within to change the cops or whatever the fuck. i get with that; it's a different character motivation than i'm used to and i'm really for it. moving the decimal place still matters to the people who will survive because you did, and that's what nearl and the doctor are doing the whole time in near light.
SIEGE
Tumblr media
I'm sorry. idk her at all. I've never pulled her, only used her once, and i haven't started episode 10 yet (SORRY) -- i expect this rating to change when i DO know more about her but right now i'm just scared they'll do some lame shit True King Returns plotline with her and somehow make act 2 worse than it started out. she's hotter than all fuck though.
HORN
Tumblr media
Second blonde woman bingo! Anyway you can unfollow me now if you wanna.
I'm sorry to be so hard on her but again; having completed episode 9 but not yet started 10+ i despise her. my dear friend @deneviere put it well yesterday; they tried to make her the sympathetic authority figure in ep9 but she is, objectively, here to do some bootboy shit, so what she really is is a massive centrist. no, horn, i DIDN'T consider that trying to preserve a culture under threat of ethnocide could damage unity in the imperial core, because i'm not a fucking imperialist. shut the fuck up, you dumb dog.
It's entirely possible a lot of her bad writing is a symptom of ep9 just being a complete shitshow overall; her interactions with Hamilton Von Racist are incredibly fucking pointless for what actually goes down in them, and the ending after 9-19 was so cartoonishly stupid i couldn't even be angry (this is a lie). she's still very hot and stupid overpowered as an operator, but i'm leaving Horn at level 1 forever because i already have Ashlock leveled, and also i hate her. this rating is also subject to change but, uh, we'll see.

Give me your strong opinions/headcanons on Harley Quinn❤️🖤
Transgender
had a pretty intense and genuinely embarrassing truecrime girly phase through like her late teens/college. probably would have started a podcast if shed had the ability at the time.
i think that and her desire to pursue a career in psychiatry/work at arkham sorta stem from this same root interest in like understanding why certain people commit violent crimes which was well-intended but ultimately came from a kind of ableist place. like she always sympathized really heavily with the people in her care but also like subconsciously saw a lot of them as these poor lost little lambs that needed her help rather than full complex human beings and thats what kinda fucked her in the end.
generally an empathetic person. tends to take on other peoples burdens. sometimes to an unhealthy degree.
i think her and bruce actually have a lot in common in that regard and when theyre not actively at odds they vibe p well for that and other reasons. also shes just the sort of person whos rly easy to get along with. she may one of if not the only rogue who none of the others rly has any lasting beef with.
bi and poly (this is basically canon anyway). i feel like some ppl tend to act as if shes only ever dated the joker and pamela but i def think shes been in and out of a lot of relationships over the years, some better than others.
she has a bad habit of 1) finding kinda messed up power dynamics a lil sexy and 2) harboring some serious "i can fix them" energy when it comes to her more obviously misguided crushes. she likes the security of a partner who she feels like will take care of her but who still relies on her emotionally and unfortunately some people use that to take advantage.
i dont know if she would necessarily consciously identify as a Femme but like. she soo is.
this is like more related to my specific dyke scarecrow au than anything canon but i see them as old exes. in true dyke fashion, they have stayed good friends in spite of the breakup. take this one or leave it but either way i like the two of them as besties soo much.
has always struggled with this impulse towards violence especially when shes feeling restless or manic. (i say struggled but shes probably having a blast with it now) i think in the past she was very self conscious about this (especially when she was newly out and trying very hard to be perceived as feminine) and tried very hard to present herself as someone self contained and in control. for better or for worse, shes much happier when shes allowed to be a force of chaos.
lowkey had a weeb phase. still very much loves j-fashion and magical girl anime. plays some video games but largely prefers the feel of a big clunky cabinet arcade game over a home console. its the buttons, the lights, the ability to loudly and dramatically tip the whole thing over if youre mad enough about losing. has watched mlp. fav is pinkie pie. obviously.
there is an aspect of her like hyper girly almost childish persona which is kind of a performance. like. it is her to a degree, but its also kind of a coping mechanism. almost like a form of drag, shes leaning into the stereotype to get a rise out of people or to protect herself. sometimes both at once. the few people who really know her well enough will start to notice little tells to differentiate when shes really feeling the vibe and when shes deliberately putting on a show.
has definitely given herself a shit haircut/dye job while in a depression spiral.
generally its just like. she feels so so so so so much all the time like oh my god make it stop for two seconds.
theres probs more but this is what i feel certain of in this moment ✌️

alright so this is probably one of the things I disliked THE MOST about this show.. because Aki was such an interesting character thanks to all these conflicts and, quite literally, power ^^;
now it's not to say that she isn't interesting now but I think they could've done redemption on her much differently.. how come the others got power throughout the series, and she loses hers? How is that fair? Even more when her powers were something so rare, how do you even lose those, what the fuck man....
to me, they "downgraded" her and gave Sherry a lot of the same conflicts - but kept Sherry that way until her arc arc has finished, instead of doing what they did to Aki - and Aki, currently, is merely a shadow of the past having nowhere as near as much power, or confidence, or anything really ^^; but like.. yeah I get it, I get it.. everything she has done was kind of as a way to cope and as a defense, too, and after being "saved" by Yusei and the others, she has to start anew, to build that power and confidence and everything back up, and not relying on her psychic powers anymore etc etc..
what ended up happening - and this is the cure of girls in Yugioh, really - is that she becomes the helpless female character who is the love interest of the main character, and starts acting as such..... like I'm not shitting you, it's annoying at times.. where is the Aki we met at the start, the one that beat Yusei's ass? Where is that sadistic and evil Aki? Well, she's not evil anymore, now she is just some girl in a shonen series and will be treated as such (: and it's going to fucking suck ass (: (: I wanna scream man 🤣 get me out of here I hate this 🤣🤣
so.. how would I redeem Aki?
I would not change her into someone else! I would take all those "evil" things she did out of ignorance or as a way to survive and they would become important weapons to her. Everything under her control. I'm trying to think of another character that would fit here and Sherry and Jack both come to my mind! Sherry was "evil" in that she was seeking revenge desperately, but it didn't come from an uninformed or misguided place (much how it went for Aki); Jack can be very sadistic, even though it might not be so obvious but that whole grandiose demeanor of him, and the whole crushing the opponent through sheer brute force should tell you something. Neither him nor Sherry had to change extremely much in their own "redemption" arcs, while for Aki I feel like she is another person entirely..
now, it could be a deeper issue though.. maybe this is what Aki really looks like, and what we got when we met her was all a facade - or worse: something Divine sowed into her - or it could be also a product of trauma, etc.. well the fact is that she has had these powers ever since she was a kid and I don't think Aki as a kid was full of that "darkness" in her own heart, she was a kid, it was something else and this "darkness" made the powers grow. Alright
I like to think that she would eventually make peace with all these parts of herself and, eventually, move forward looking confident and powerful (with or without the psychic powers) but uhh, sure.. she's a teenager, she has a lot to process, and a lot to grow and heal too. Lastly, she ends up becoming a doctor. Very probable that comes from a place of repentance about past deeds, and it's fair.
I probably have to do my own process of grieving over what her character could've become and cry about the yugioh curse on female characters 🤣

Stargate rewatch: 1x07 The Nox
Tumblr media
aka Space Pacifists.
“We've already visited 19 separate worlds." EXCUSE ME?!?! Abydos, Chulak, Mongol planet, planet where Sam "drank the stuff", The Land of Light, UV planet, blue crystal planet, and that's just SG-1. I'm being generous and not counting any of the home planets they sent the refugees from CotG back to, but that only leaves 12 planets for all nine SG teams to have visited offscreen in the months before this? Even taking into account that not all of them may be exploration teams, this is stretching credulity. Was this episode meant to be earlier in the season?
Daniel and Sam are back in their helmets - maybe this was meant to be placed earlier.
Why did the Nox cloak the Stargate in the first place if they want to be left alone?
This episode was written by Hart Hanson, who would go on to create/exec produce Bones. It was his only Stargate script.
By a galactic coincidence, Apophis is also looking for the invisibility hummingbird at the very same time SG-1 is - but it kind of works, Apophis has had a First Prime rebel against him, he’d be afraid of looking vulnerable to the other system lords and is in need of an advantage over them.
Tumblr media
Watching these episodes in HD you can really see how much everyone is just acting though the Vancouver rain. Look at poor Chris Judge’s head!
Daniel is all in tither wanting to capture Apophis - it’s the first real mention we’ve had of Sha’re and Skaara in several episodes. He’s the one pushing for it - when things get Personal for Daniel he gets fixated and while he marshals his arguments, they’re coloured by emotion.
Jack by contrast keeps it tampered down - but he wants to be convinced and in the end quite easily is, importantly with Teal’c’s support (which isn’t given without bias either). Sam is the only one with reservations.
I think this is the first time we see Daniel actually fire his weapon. Doesn’t hit anything though.
Apophis personally takes out Jack, Sam, and Daniel, which is kind of badass. He’s a Goa’uld who leads from the front lines.
That’s death no. 2 for Daniel so far.
“Dal shakka mel - I die free.” This will become a mantra for Teal’c and the Free Jaffa moment, although they later change the Goa’uld version to Shal’kek nem’ron.
Jack and Sam both sniff the fruit the Nox give them, and Jack gives it a little buff before taking a bite. Sam doesn’t actually seem to eat it, and Daniel’s too distracted trying to communicate to do anything but hold it.
Tumblr media
“You attacked them.” I love Lya so much, and she had their number here - it’s a good setup because absent of context it does look like SG-1 was trying to kill Apophis without provocation, and the Nox have good reason to be wary of them.
“We just wanted to take him back to our world to have a little chat with him about all the nasty, bad things he’s been doing.” I love RDA’s delivery of this. And Daniel, echoing the bad, looking pretty murderous, seeing as Apophis has been doing those bad things to his wife. I do appreciate that Shanks commits to playing the subtext around Sha’re even when it isn’t explicit in the dialogue.
Tumblr media
Great dynamic between Teal’c and Shak’l - he could not be the mentor Bra’tac was for him, and created a rival rather than an acolyte.
Aw, Jack still getting jittery about weapons around kids.
“Knowledge takes time, and over the years we teach the young to be wise.” Daniel trying to get information out of grandpappy Nox but not really hearing what he’s saying - that knowledge must be learned, not simply told. This is the arc for Daniel over the whole series and particularly around his later ascension - at this stage he wants to absorb as much information as he can, without really understanding it.
Daniel wearing gloves most of this episode again when no one else seems to be.
Great scene between Jack and Anteaus as well - Jack’s frustration comes from a good place, but it’s misguided and paternalistic.
Tumblr media
I love the faerie, wood-sprite aesthetic of the Nox, especially this branch/flower arbor.
LOL Sam kicks one of the Jaffa right in the crotch. And due to a continuity error, we see it twice!
Daniel then shoots the Jaffa with a staff weapon - unclear whether or not he dies (if so I guess the Nox bring him back to life). But it’s not as if this is the first time Daniel has killed, he offed at least one Jaffa in the movie, so I guess he’s a better shot with the staff weapon than a handgun.
“The very young do not always do as they are told.” This might as well be the show’s tagline.
Tumblr media
Interesting that we’ve had two cautionary tales so far, to ensure the show isn’t always in favour of US imperialising all over the galaxy.
