I'm very pleased that Sadie isn't dating Lars. I figured she was dating the person she's sitting next to in the intro, but it's nice to get some confirmation (we haven't seen them yet, but why else would they be included in the intro?). I love Lars, don't get me wrong, it's just that he and Sadie have never been compatable, and putting them together at this point would be like saying "it's okay if it doesn't work out the first 10 times! You just have to keep trying!" They liked each other, they had a few good times and a lot of rough patches, and Sadie has moved on.

Lars is trying to move on, too, and I think that's a great show of how he's developed as a character. He clearly still has feelings for her, and at one point this all would have made him bitter but now, he's just happy that she's happy. Maybe they could have worked things out, maybe Lars has changed (and he has), but at this point I'm glad that he's content being an old friend, someone Sadie doesn't have to feel weird talking to. Besides, it's not like Lars has nothing; romance isn't the end all be all of relationships. Sadie has the Suspects and Shep, and Lars has the Off Colors. Sadie will likely go back on tour, and Lars is going back to space. This is their lives now.

My greatest fear for this episode is that it'll be another Joking Victim or The New Lars, where Steven meddles with their relationship and puts further strain between them. Please, Steven, I know you're struggling to come to terms with the fact that things are changing, but PLEASE tell me you've learned something, anything about not meddling.
