I recall at least early on in Pokémon Adventures regular animals existed - in the Safari Zone chapters you see Victreebel draining a shrew and has other animals caught in vines, so Mickey Mouse might well be an actual mouse lol

I have the early volumes. The artist couldn't have drawn a sandshrew or something
