began re-reading the prologue and i'm having so many emotions already

i'm kinda obsessed with how Citron got the most verbose "i wanna bloom" line in the localisation

i love that we can see the seed of God-za not being that good of a community being planted just from the conversation after the street act

this was actually so fucked up from Izumi's mum, i think we don't talk about that enough

BACKHOE!

Sakyo mentions that Mankai did still put on plays and i'm so curious about those Did Matsukawa act in them? Was Kamekichi monologuing through them all? how tf did those work i need to know now

Kodai's voice acting was on point for the awkwardness and stiffness of being a first time actor, you can hear him trying to feel his place in it all and i love it

also, even though she's not the director yet, i love that you can see that Izumi already has the director brain in her like sure, they imposed that role on her, but it's also just something she was naturally doing inside her head already

do you think Sakyo was also thinking about himself and how he doesn't deserve to be in theatre with this line? because i am now thinking about it and i'm emo something something no matter how hard he works, he won't be "worthy" of the company or the stage (in his mind)

Yukio was truly haunting the narrative at this point

i love that you can tell from the start that both Matsukawa and Sakyo love Mankai, but while Matsukawa's holding on and wants it back, Sakyo doesn't want its legacy to be tainted (which, now that i think about it, reflects his hopelessness about himself as a person, and woah it's only when he dares to start having hope about Mankai that he dares have some hope for himself in this essay i will-)

genuinely confused about why Matsukawa didn't think about renting the theatre for other troupes to help with the debt a lil

it's funny now when Sakyo brings up the costs of the dorm because sir- sir a random old man (joking) has been paying for the services there for years do you mean the debt could've been way worse had they not had help from Syu?

i love how Sakyo KNOWS Izumi's bluffing but he still gives her a chance, a small window of time but still man wants to have hope despite his prickliness and general attitude at the point

y'know i was shocked when i first learnt about Matsukawa's age but re reading this... yeah this man is definitely in his mid to late 20s

The air between you seemed to freeze, both of you being far too scared to make a single move and accidentally touch the other. Every single accidental brush made your heart pound faster

Despite the tenseness, both of you eventually end up relaxing. He was hesitant at first, scared, but he allows himself to melt a bit in your warmth, turning around to bring a careful arm around you

You melt into him in response, and he leaves a gentle kiss on your forehead before holding you closer to him. All you had to do was show him that you were fine with it and he was melting

so basically, post the rejection LOGICALLY miss brooks understands his stance and she sees the validity of his point. however, EMOTIONALLY? that girl is a wreck the way she just realized that she had feelings for ethan right before they kissed and now this?? 💀 also she’s definitely slightly toxic for this but she’d rather be the one doing the rejecting than being rejected because that lack of control is TERRIFYING so miss girl is not doing too well!!

ALSO in my hc there’s no partition, no seperate rooms it’s literally just them in a single room with lana on the king size bed and ethan on the twin bed that he demanded requested from the staff so it’s very much awkward. they both get into their nightwear and are laying in the same room not talking, slowly dying on the inside. and then lana is like fuck this and she gets off the bed and opens her suitcase, changes into a cute lil crop & some pants and is about to head out and ethan is SO confused and despite his better judgement he asks ‘where are you going?’ and she says ‘out.’ and then proceeds to walk out the door.

she goes to the pool bar that the fancy hotel has, fully ready to take advantage of its amenities. she’s one drink down when a stranger sidles up next to her ordering a scotch, on the rocks. the last bit catches her attention - ‘ice sullies the flavor you know.’ but he simply smirks and says ‘not necessarily a bad thing.’ it catches her attention, catches off her guard. his eyes are brown, not blue. his demeanor is warm, welcoming & so far removed from the man she’s trying to get off her mind. so they start talking…. and talking ….. until he says ‘i have a room here’ he says, the implication clear as the crystalline waves lulling against the shore. against her better judgment, she follows suit. she doesn’t exactly have the healthiest coping mechanisms. as soon as they’re in, he pushes her against the door— lips molding against hers in a way that feels all wrong— his hair is longer, his stubble rougher, his—- it’s wrong. it’s all wrong. she pushes him away, telling him she can’t do this, his queries ignored as she rushes out the door and back to her own room. ethan is still awake when she gets back, confusion and relief colliding as she gets into bed without a word.

when he wakes up the next day, she’s not there. he keeps missing her all day— almost as if she’s avoiding him (spoiler alert: she definitely is :)) under the guise of professionalism, he asks ines & zaid if they’ve seen lana and they point him to a conference — and she’s there alright. but she doesn’t say a word to him, his attempts at conversation stiff and forced and formal, so unlike the ethan and lana from before. the plane ride back is filled with a similar silence — both of them avoiding the other like the goddamn plague.

Ooh, the boys are gonna get spoiled! We all know Shriv deserves it most of all!

Warnings: None. Just a couple of Duros and one Weequay getting a nice massage from their S/O.

“Dis effort … es no longer … profitable!” had been Hondo Ohnaka’s words. He had failed at his endeavor, but not before nearly dying at the hands of a clever Jedi Knight.

Oooh, but Hondo was more so. He had escaped death, lived to tell his tale, and tell he did. You had heard all about it, though he was loath to admit his neck, his back, and his arms were sore.

He had battled one named Skywalker, hand-to-hand with a melee weapon; an electrostaff against a lightsaber. It had seemed like a good idea, the pirate had tanks to back him up, yet all had proven futile in the end. The only thing that was left to him were his complaints and body aches.

He tutted around his Corona-class armed frigate, mumbling obscenities. You were perhaps his flavor of the week; the month; the year if you could keep up with him. Though, you had a few tricks of your own up your fancy sleeves, a way to please the Weequay. You beckoned Hondo to his stately bedchamber.

“Have a seat. Let me pamper you, my liege.”

You bowed in a show of theatrical humility. Hondo loved this game – for you to praise him and act as an abiding slave.

“Permission granted,” Ohnaka announced, stretching himself out leisurely. You took this opportunity to woo him with your valuable expertise.

Besides, in a way, he would profit from it…

“One thing you might not know about me: I was a massage therapist before you whisked me away on this grand adventure.” You rounded him, trailing your fingers along his coat; his shoulders. You began to help him take it off.

“Really? How fortunate for me.” Hondo was not shy when it came to stating the obvious, or those things that were in his favor; to be humble was a thing reserved.

You had to work harder on him unlike other clients; his skin was tough, leathery, though still somewhat pliant. He moaned out a sound denoting he was happy, making this laborious undertaking all worthwhile.

“You are good at dis, my dear. Remind me tu... repay you.” He struck a wicked smile.

Shriv Suurgav had been nearly killed piloting a ship he wasn’t too familiar with – a TIE Fighter of all things. He had boarded a Star Destroyer with Iden and his niece - she was self-proclaimed. He had left for weeks afterward, on a mission from the general. Shriv somehow found the time to visit you on one of his recent meetups with the fleet.

Initially, they hadn’t let him land. He was turned away from you, your frigate and its team of medics. He had comm-called you once it was safe to do so, reassured you, letting you know he was still alive.

You could tell something was wrong - he was tired - beside himself in sorrow, yet he tried to play it off. Iden had been close to him, and now he was burdened with her loss.

You wanted to coddle him; show him affection; give the depressed Duros a reason to laugh again. He was overworked by Leia, and while you respected her, Shriv rarely received any commendations for a job well done.

He arrived to you a mess, yet he tried to muster a smile of sorts. You reached your hand out for him. He took it up and rubbed his cheek into the center of your palm.

Shriv looked on the verge of tears, his expression pained. He only managed to say three words, though they nearly caused your heart to burst.

“I missed you.”

He made the motions to engage you in a hug; that sort of thing was always awkward for him, yet he seemed to want one. His body would deny him, forcing him to scrunch an eye. He rasped out a haggard breath.

“S-sorry… I-I’m just a little sore…”

His shoulders were stiff; his arms, his neck; his muscles ached. The crash had done a number on him, and he was still recovering.

“Come here, Shriv. You know, I used to be a massage therapist before I joined the Rebellion.”

Shriv chuckled rather meekly; he was not himself. “I can see why you’d want to keep that a ssecret in a place like this. You’d have a line outside your door.”

You guided him along, sat him down, and lowered onto your knees behind him. Your fingers bore into his cobalt flesh beneath his uniform, your hands applying just the right amount of pressure to relieve all his undue stress.

The Duros gasped at first, not knowing what he was feeling. It hurt, but then it felt so good. His brow ridge knit; he melted into it. His fangs bit down on his slender bottom lip.

He had no quips, no snarky comments. He was feeling complimentary for once, simply grateful to have you by his side.

“You spoil me, sweetheart. Don’t know what I did to deserve a gal like you.”

Cad Bane had gotten his choobies handed to him by Fennec Shand. He was beat to snot and had lost out on all his credits. He reached you worse for wear, in pain, and his muscles ached – his entire self. You felt sorry for him and decided to utilize your skills.

“Lie down, Cad,” you lightly commanded him.

He was too tired, too worn to argue with you. He sat down, slumping over with a wince upon your bed. Bane removed his hat and hung his head, mumbling grouchily, “maybe Ah'm gettin' too old fer dhis.”

“Nonsense.” you assured him, conducting him into the correct position. He was timid – Cad wasn’t used to dropping his wary guard or his excessive vigilance.

That all vanished into the ether, out and beyond the stars above, whilst your hands worked their magic on him. He made sounds you had never heard; groans, grunts, and ones perhaps of relief or pleasure. You were happy you could do something nice for him.

“Where’d ye learn te do all dhis? Ssome kinda ssorcery,” he claimed; his voice a husky gravel, though more subdued than was normal for him.

“I was a massage therapist back on Coruscant. My patrons were mainly Clones. They tipped well and were always sore – war and all," you responded reservedly.

“Keepin’ ssecrets from me, s’what it is.”

Did your ears deceive you? You could have sworn the Duros purred.

You’d be laserbrained to mention it, though you smiled a little to yourself. It felt good to be appreciated, knowing all too well that Bane’s involuntary praise was as close to a thank you as you would get.

keeping in touch through letters and the Tsaritsa just trying to act like it's high secrecy diplomatic letters discussing Very Important Things but really she just misses Makoto and won't admit it.

Ei 🤝 the Tsaritsa being too stubborn to admit they have FEELINGS and are in love w Miko / Makoto respectively

and then Khaenri'ah happens.

she blames herself for not keeping her safe. for letting her walk straight into the bloody massacre that once was khaenri'ah.

she can't even bring herself to fight back when Ei blames her, too. their both grieving, they both lost their better halves, and she just..can't hate Ei for blaming her, because she's right.

and all she has left, all the proof that Makoto ever existed, are the lil gifts and letters over the years.

she probably locked them away so she isn't tempted to read them, and so their safe, but she still caves every once in a while and just..reminisces.

also her considering going to Inazuma when it went on lockdown, but she's still unsure how Ei feels abt her. if she still blames her. so she just sends an envoy, and hopes she'll forgive her when she steals the Gnosis.

which probably made it 100x worse when Scaramouche ran off with it, because that was Makoto's, and she's going to strangle that lil bastard when she finds him.

not much? if style wise it does nothing for me ill take tips from colours or designs or even writing. i think danganronpa sits at a solid "NO NO NO NO NO NO" tho. i like the characters for what the fandom has done, not the....... *gestures vaguely* that. i mean danganronpa doesnt do everything wrong but it does enough that i will not consider taking advice from it. the poses are awkward the style is stiff the colours are all grey-brown.

the designs CAN be good. but they can range from "this is neat" to "okay this doesnt super read as gyaru to me but i can see the inspiriation" to "this is SO BORING" to "WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY?" i can enjoy some of them alone but i mean. i can only enjoy the girls clothes so much before asking "hey whyd you put all the girls including the gymnast in skirts except for the swimmer who gets booty shorts?"

30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated

ah. uh. thats tough. bcuz like. scrolling thru my art account. its pretty recent that i get likes? i think my hyperfixation pills are overrated if thats anything XD

probably the starting soon screen i animated. that challenged my skill the most. like im getting more confident in calling myself an animator (which is ridiculous ive been animating since 2019 i should be past this) but that really boosted my confidence in myself. id never really tried to use keyframes like that and that was the most detailed background i did for an animation.

im choosing this one bcuz it was the first one where i realized my family wasnt dazzled by my art anymore. i showed it off and instead of the usual "wow thats amazing howd you do it" i got "oh. cool."

i still think its great and im confident in it i just couldnt look at it for a few days after that lol

Summary- The days following your confrontation with Yancy were… tense to say the least. Especially with neither one of you willing to break the stony silence first. Well, at least that’s what you thought anyway.

Word traveled fast, as it tended to on the inside. Not a whole else to do and besides, what else were people going to talk about? You and Yancy's argument ended up as a hot ticket item for a lil while.

Just in the first few days you heard enough snickering about "trouble in paradise" or "Yancy's in the doghouse" to last you a lifetime. Still, couldn't fault them too much. Yancy probably would've had a much less pleasant reaction if they joked where he could hear.

Speaking of...

The lunch table was uncharacteristically tense. Conversation still flowed but with its biggest contributor being a sulky ass about things, the whole affair was a bit stilted. The two of you usually ended up sitting next to each other or at least close enough to talk over people.

Yancy wasn't really the type to avoid people. At least not like this. He showed up, got his food and sat down. All scowls and sullen silence. Whatever you did wouldn't change things. He hadn't said a word to you since the exchange in his cell and you hadn't said one back.

The rest of the gang was left trying to fruitlessly bridge the gap.

At some point you had enough. You weren't going to pretend it was the same as usual with the rest of your friends. You also didn't feel like just sitting there and eating your food as if it'd insulted like Yancy. The already awkward conversation came to a standstill as you got to your feet.

You did your best to ignore the eyes on you as you left. Your lunch only half eaten. Yancy somewhere behind you stubbornly looking down at the table.

At this point it was easier to stew for the both of you, it seemed.

That's just how it went for a while. A tense air you couldn't seem to shake and honestly you were just sick of it. People asking you what happened. Saying they heard so and so from such and such.

You figured you'd just wait until everyone else found a new thing to gossip about when Yancy visited your cell.

Yancy wasn't really the type to knock, not with people he actually knew anyway. When he did it was a cursory rap of the knuckles as he was strolling in anyway. So when you heard an almost tentative, quiet knock against the bars, the last person you were expecting was him. Just- lingering in your doorway. He wasn't quite looking at you, hand still half raised with the action.

"Got a minute?" He said. The words sounded stiff, almost like he rehearsed it.

After the initial shock wore off you were left hesitating. Did you? The obvious answer was yes but you weren't sure what he even wanted.

You nodded before you could think better of it. Something about his demeanor had you accepting, out loud once you realized he still wasn't looking at you.

A quick nod and Yancy was inside. Hands stuffed in his pockets, he lingered in the middle of the room for a second or two before sitting down on the bed next to you.

Not sure what was going on, you set aside what you were doing. Yancy had leaned back into the wall your bunk was situated against like he usually did. This time though it seemed he was trying to gear himself up.

You regretted getting rid of something to occupy yourself with in the interim. Clearing your throat had him going even more tense at your side.

"What did you come here for, Yancy."

Yancy instead of a nickname had him frowning a bit. With a sigh, he reached down and wordlessly yanked up his pant leg. You had followed the movement and blinked. His ankle was neatly, securely wrapped in an elastic bandage. It had you wondering if he did it himself or had someone help.

"S'pretty bad sprain," he explained, letting the fabric drop and cover it again. "Course the doc chewed my ass out for walkin on it 'n all."

Not surprising, really, considering you had told as much earlier. Despite that you couldn't help but be relieved. Even if Yancy was an ass, you were glad it was just a sprain.

The feelings left you searching for what to say. Yancy was waiting for you to.

"That's... good."

Some of the anger had faded with time. You never were good at holding grudges anyway. That being said, you weren't sure if you wanted to forgive him yet. That's what this was. An olive branch.

Disappointed with your response, Yancy shrugs one arm. Dismissive.

"Yeah... well," he mumbled. Another awkward, loaded second or two of silence.

Yancy finally sighed. "Look. I had this whole fuckin- speech or whatever that'd patch things up real nice but-" he shakes his head. "I dunno. I wanted to say- say 'm sorry. That's it."

At some point you had figured out this was his way of apologizing but somehow you were still surprised to hear it. What was he thinking about? You caught yourself stuck on that more than once over the past few days but it came back with a vengeance now. What had Yancy been thinking during this? Or now?

"Okay," you weren't sure what else to say.

The tension stayed tight across his shoulders.

Trying and failing to come up with the right words to say, he spoke again. "Not real good at this but I know I fucked up, alright? I knew it right after I said all that shit. It was just- easier to be mad, I guess. Ya didn't deserve any of that. Weren't for youse my ankle'd be worse than it is so. Thanks. And sorry, again."

A long, slow breath left you. Something kind of like relief, maybe. At the very least it was no more of this.

"I forgive you." You couldn't help but smile as the tension drops out of him all at once. Still... "But I meant what I said earlier. I don't wanna be your punching bag."

Yancy stayed silent as you shrugged. "I probably shouldn't have pushed like I did but I didn't want to see you hurting when I could do something about it. So I'm sorry too."

A scoff, which had your head snapping over in surprise.

"Stop that," Yancy seemed to get a bit of his usual bluster back, "you've always been too god damn nice to me, y'know that? Ya don't apologize for givin a shit bout someone."

"Are you seriously giving me shit about being too nice?"

Yancy pushes at your shoulder. "Yeah cuz then this happens. Oughta told me to shove it. That's what anyone else woulda done."

"Too bad I'm not anyone else," you teased right back. It was nice to leave behind the weird avoidance and have something like you used to.

A couple soft laughs before the silence fell over the two of you again. Yancy stared down at his shoes. This time neither of you rushed to fill the lull with talking. You pulled your legs up onto the mattress and felt more at ease than you had all week.

"Hey."

Yancy caught your attention. He had his head turned slightly to the side, leaning forward on his knees.

"Thanks. I mean it, really. Next time..." his eyes dart away for a moment. "Well, ain't gonna be a next time. And for what it's worth, I give a damn bout youse too."

Your own words given back to you just had you huff good naturedly.

"Right back at ya, jailbird."
