PROPAGANDA
ALEX DEWITT (DC COMICS)
1.) The term “fridging” is literally based on Alex and what happened to her. She was killed off violently by a bad guy trying to get at her boyfriend only a couple issues after she was introduced (making it obvious they only brought her in to kill her off for shock value). Her death did very little to the narrative other than hurt her boyfriend Kyle and was done in an exceedingly horrifying and violent way. (Bad guy came to the door with flowers and threatening note, broke in and attacked her, choking her to death, before [off panel] chopping her body up and sticking it in the refrigerator as a “surprise” for her boyfriend. This obviously is really fucked up and she deserves better and should win this actually (a vote for Alex is a vote for all fridging victims [in spirit])
2.) It doesn’t get much worse than being the character whose death originated the “fridging” trope. In Green Lantern Vol. 3 #54, Kyle Rayner comes home to find that Alexandra, his girlfriend, has been killed by the villain Major Force and stuffed into the refrigerator.
Alexandra DeWitt is the character whose misogynistic treatment coined the term where a character, usually female, is killed off purely to make the main character, usually male, feel bad. Even if there are other characters who have been subjected to similar levels of misogyny, Alexandra DeWitt’s treatment has been essentially immortalized.
3.) I know she’s not going to win but shout out to my home girl, literally the trope namer for women shoved in fridges. All anyone ever knows about her is that she was Kyle’s girlfriend and got murdered for his character development, even though she had plenty of potential to be her own character.
LEAFPOOL (WARRIOR CATS)
1.) For context, she’s a medicine cat, which is essentially the priest/healer of an ancestor-worshipping religion called StarClan, and there’s a rule in the living Clans prohibiting anyone from dating outside their Clan, and also prohibiting medicine cats from dating/having kits.
So she’s breaking the law by seeing a cat named Crowfeather in another Clan, and eventually gets pregnant. She secretly gives the children to her sister to raise instead, because the kits would’ve grown up in misery if their true parentage was known. When the secret gets out that they’re her kits, Leafpool became demonized to hell and back.
Crowfeather, who ALSO broke the law and fathered the kits, only got a slap on the wrist, and he’s almost certainly going to become leader. But Leafpool was demoted from her role as medicine cat (by her FATHER), treated like scum by her whole community (aside from her sister and best friend), and her children despise her for lying to them (one even tries to get her to kill herself). The narrative constantly paints her as a liar that’s getting what she deserves, and even has her children insult her at HER FUNERAL, years after the secret got out. She’s a main character and she dies OFF SCREEN between books!
It’s not even over when she dies. StarClan decides to hold a trial for her when she dies to see if she deserves to join them, or if she’s banished to cat hell for eternity. War criminals who abetted in genocide never got a trial, they were just let in. An incel who tried to kill 4 people because he was mad his ex dumped him got let in without question. But the cat whose only crime was dating someone in another Clan and having kids gets a full trial? Keep in mind their sire gets a whole book about StarClan coming down to help him, because clearly only she deserved to be punished.
Leafpool’s life is nonstop suffering because of misogynistic double standards. Treated like the devil for getting pregnant and wanting to give her kids a better life, while all the men involved get excused, coddled, and placed into positions of power.
2.) she went through So much bullshit. squirrelflight (her sister) too. i’m sure she’ll also get submitted. Cat God (starclan) vaguely told her to run away with the man she liked and then got mad at her when she did it. and then she was punished for it the rest of her life. She had kids with him and those kids were like Incredibly Important and wouldn’t exist if not for her but she’s still punished for it. BY STARCLAN. Who told her to have those kids in the first place . and of course the books just treat this like it’s pretty much normal and fair
3.) just like her sister squirrelflight, she does many things that male characters do and faces drastically different consequences. she and another cat, named crowfeather, run away from their clans to get cat married. this is illegal because they’re from different clans. when they get home, leafpool is pregnant. when all of this is revealed(years later) their punishments could not be more different. when they first come back, leafpool is suspected, talked poorly about, and outlasted. we aren’t shown any consequences towards crowfeather at all. after the grand reveal of leafpool having kids(and giving them away to her sister since she’s a doctor and doctors can’t gave kids) leafpool is forced to give up her position as doctor, is disowned as her kids aunt figure, and completely outcasted by the whole clan(mostly the same happens to her sister). crowfeather is just minorly treated poorly and gets a cat divorce.

Okay okay okay. So like… we have an art project in art class(wow) where we do a bunch of drawings and for one I decided “hmm what if Fire family twin sisters?? Because there are PARALLELS TO BE MADE” as in Squirrel and Leaf and Ivy and Dove. And then I thought “Actually all the fire family sibling duos where they were essentially raised as twins wether or not they had other siblings that died almost immediately or were still born actually are really interesting constructed to eachother” because like!! They all are set up perfectly to be so similar to eachother but there’s always something there in how they treat eachother.
Like Squirrelflight and Leafpool are there for eachother no matter what, Squirrelflight would do anything to try and make her sister happy and Leafpool would literally die to save Squirrelflight and reality checks her all the time. And they are put through so much shit together and come out closer at the end only to be dragged apart again(funnily enough all 3 times this happens is due to StarClan. The journey, the ‘follow your heart’ thing, and death). And they’re super close to a point that for a little they had a psychic link. And with the whole three thing, they have eachother’s backs no matter what and will face against everyone they ever know together. And they’re always talking to eachother whenever they can. It’s explicitly stated to be WEIRD when Leafpool is avoidant towards Squirrelflight when she’s seeing Crowfeather. Even if everyone else hates them, they have eachother and that’s enough. But they do have friends other than eachother.
Ivypool and Dovewing start out super close just like Leaf and Squirrel, but in comes StarClan again. Dovewing is cast as one of the three and pretty much immediately after they’re apprenticed she’s dragged away to the beaver dam. Sure Ivypool gets a bit jealous there, but they can still talk. But Dovewing keeps getting dragged away and gets extra attention and importance and the moment Ivypool gets a chance to feel as important and takes it. And slowly they end up talking less and less, despite Dovewing trying to reach out. But Ivypool at this point she’s full of it and doesn’t pay her any mind. And eventually it gets to a point where despite Dovewings efforts even after the great battle, they do end up being friendly to eachother though. They end up on alright terms but are more like old friends from school. Dovewing notably has a good support system in ShadowClan and Ivypool has one in ThunderClan, but before the great battle Ivypool just had the dark forest that she wasn’t actively turning away and DoveWing had their mom and the ones putting pressure on her and Tigerheart. They probably could have ended up on much much much better terms if Ivypool had a better support system than the dark forest since then she’d have people to talk to.
Sparkpelt and Alderheart again start close, and with how great at warrior stuff Sparkpelt is Alderheart is in a perfect position to get jealous. And he does! Especially once he’s forced to be a medicine cat. But they still do talk, and Sparkpelt helps keep his spirits high. And while due to Alderheart’s quest they’re separated they’re still close. And they’re there for eachother if needed, and can also lean on others if needed. Sparkpelt treats Laderheart with nothing but joy and care, and so he returns that- all be it in a much quieter way.
And then… there’s Finchflight and Nightheart. Finchflight has the same(if not much more) pressure put on her than Nightheart does him, but still tries to treat him kindly. Nightheart has nothing but vitriol to spew towards her. But Finchflight keeps trying to talk to him, then he leaves to find catmint and comes back angrier. Finchflight does make a bigger deal out of the naming ceremony that needs be and keeps pushing at him to take the name Flameheart instead, which is a bad thing, but this is the only negative thing she’s ever done to him. And he HATES her and then just leaves and pretty much goes “no fuck you. You want me to do CHORES” when she asks him to come back to ThunderClan since he left without even saying goodbye. Finchflight should have some level of anger but she doesn’t. She still cares about him and WANTS to be close siblings but he absolutely despises her, not for the one thing she’s done but for everything else. And he blames everyone around him for him being a fucking idiot, but is treated with nothing but compassion by his sister.
Like in alternating order they’re duplicates in how they treat eachother but on the religion it’s far more strained. So compressing it all down you get:
Squirrelflight & Leafpool: They have eachother’s backs, care for eachother, will die for eachother, and reality check eachother if needed
Dovewing & Ivypool: Strained, but friendly. They respect eachother and care about eachother but more so as friends than sisters. Seperated but they talk plenty.
Sparkpelt & Alderheart: They care about eachother and cheer eachother up, they’re super close and got past any amount of jealousy there. They’ll step on eachother’s tails time to time, but it’s all fun and games.
Finchflight & Nightheart: They barely even talk, Finchflight wants to be close siblings and cares and Nightheart despises her pretty much just for existing. Nightheart is just gone, and still spews vitriol.
And that, is why on the art project I have Leafpool and Squirrelflight, Dovewing and Ivypool, Sparkpelt and Alderheart, and Finchflight. Because everyone despite everything still talks and has that connection, besides the newest duo. Only Finchflight still wants to be siblings, only Finchflight is there.

SOOO this will be a long post
context: during night whispers in oots, feathermist (jayfeather equivalent) is overwhelmed with stress and emotion that he decides to go with stormheart (stormfur) and brook to go to the mountains, despite boartusk screaming at him not to. while there, he has a nightmare of the clans being destroyed and goes home without telling anyone. he finds that because he was gone, the dark forest has taken over the clans. basically, in my rewrite, there is a 'head' of starclan and the dark forest. they dont fade away, but the existence as they know it of starclan and the dark forest hinges on them. if they are killed by another cat from their afterlife, they ake over. but if they are killed from an outside source.. bad things happen. for awhile, this cat for the dark forest was one eye. but when tigerstar died, he killed one eye and took over. this cat for starclan was gray wing, but as he tried to defend the clans against the dark forests' surprise attack, he was killed. this banished starclan away forever, and made them unable to come into the living world or send dreams to living cats (though later, leaders find out they still get nine lives, they just don't have a ceremony. they fall asleep at the moonpool and wake up without seeing any starclan cats). anyways, the clans were merged into one big clan under tigerstar's rule, forced to worship the dark forest. most cats were brutally killed, especially old cats and cats deemed by tigerstar "not fit to serve him". the one good thing sunchaser has done was hide briarlight in the twolegplace so she wouldn't be harmed. okay so the prophecy cats are trying to figure out what to do. dovewing begs ashflake to do SOMETHING to help her. and he actually does, for once. he tells her that before he came into her body, he witnessed something: cherryflight was alive in the tunnels. dovewing tells feathermist and sunchaser, and they do to find cherryflight. ivypool stops them, still loyal to the dark forest. but dovewing convinces her to let them go. they find cherryflight and kill tigerclaw. the end! except literally most of the clan cats are dead :[
alive cats:
thunderclan: thornsnap (thornclaw, who is elected the clan's new leader), mousewhisker, feathermist, squirrelflight, sunchaser, cherryflight, icecloud, dovewing, ivypool, rosepetal, honeyfern, molepaw, pepperpaw (cherrypaw), brambleclaw (though mortally wounded), daisy, sandstorm, antkit (honeyfern's kit)
windclan: gorsefire (gorsepaw who lives, is elected the clan's new leader), heathertail, kestrelflight, crowfeather, nightcloud, squallstrike (breezepelt), hootwhisker, sedgewhisker, featherpaw, oatpaw, leaftail, harespring, slightfoot, tigerkit (sunchaser and heathertail's kit), frecklekit (sunchaser and heathertail's kit)
riverclan: willowshine, mothwing, hollowflight, minnowtail, havenpelt, sneezecloud, beetlewhisker, reedwhisker, podpaw, curlpaw, lakeheart, harekit, gorsekit, dapplekit, softkit
shadowclan: murkystar (blackstar), tawnyspark (tawnypelt), spruceheart (tigerheart), snowbird, sparrowtail, wasptail, berryheart, sleekkit, juniperkit, strikekit, needlekit, pinenose, puddlekit, slatekit, birchkit, lionkit
outside of the clans: briarlight, brook, stormheart, fern (fernsong, who is a kittypet), flip, bristle, lark, thrift, stem, sol, earth
with that out of the way. these are the 'books' though i imagine them more like novellas within the same big book
book one:
pov character: antkit
thunderclan is in ruins, but has the most surviving warriors out of any clan. brambleclaw gives up his place as deputy, as he is incredibly injured. he asks squirrelflight to be leader, but she refuses. everyone agrees that thornsnap should become leader, as a surviving senior warrior. thornstar wants everything to return to how the clans once were. antkit becomes feathermist's apprentice. he soon realizes that squirrelflight is pregnant again and tells thornstar, who is outraged that she is still in a half-clan relationship. squirrelflight decides to leave and join windclan.
at the next medicine cat meeting, antpaw realizes that riverclan is doing worse than thunderclan because they have no leader or deputy. they cannot agree on who should become leader: reedwhisker, mistyfoot's son and the most likely candidate that she would choose as her deputy, or mothwing, who was once deputy. shadowclan also has no trained medicine cat.
brambleclaw is dying, and squirrelflight returns with crowfeather to witness his last moments. thornstar relents and the clans agree that half-clan relationships should not be against the new code. squirrelflight has her kits, two toms. who she names maplekit after her father, and bramblekit after her dear friend.
feathermist and antpaw go into the twolegplace to bring briarlight back. he learns she had been taken care of by a kittypet named fern, alongside his four kits. fern agrees to join the clan with briarlight.
book two:
pov character: tigerpaw
in windclan, tigerpaw and his sister frecklepaw have recently been made apprentices. ever since he was a kit, he felt as though heathertail didn't like him. and with the new rules, tigerpaw is excited to go to thunderclan to meet his father. but he soon realizes that sunchaser is an aging, bitter tom, nothing like the hero he thought he would be.
suddenly, news comes out that shadowclan has annexed riverclan by force. but murkystar isn't working alone. two strange cats named sol and earth have come to shadowclan, claiming to be in contact to starclan. sol predicts the eclipse to prove this. he says that starclan wants the clans to become one strong clan. the other clans are outraged, claiming that that's what tigerstar wanted to do. but murkystar is too far gone to listen.
tigerpaw decides that he isn't wanted in windclan or thunderclan, so he joins shadowclan, much to frecklepaw's horror. there, he meets needlepaw, sleekpaw, and juniperpaw (who is training under willowshine to be a medicine cat). he especially bonds with sleekpaw and juniperpaw, who were orphaned in the great battle. as well as earth, who is his age. and was also abandoned by his mother and father, and was taken in by sol. tigerpaw relates to this. needlepaw is the only cat that tigerpaw doesn't get along well with, mostly because she doesn't necessarily trust sol.
however, riverclan is suffering under shadowclan. they aren't treated fairly, and are thought more of as soldiers to do murkystar's bidding than clanmates. but tigerpaw thinks this is for the best. but with needlepaw, he begins to question why starclan would want this. but juniperpaw and sleekpaw shame him for thinking this. he sees minnowtail sneaking out of camp, but keeps quiet for now.
third book:
pov character: frecklepaw
in windclan, frecklepaw is coping with her brother's absence. soon, skyclan appears at the edges of the lake territory, and frecklepaw convinces gorsestar to allow her to greet them, desperate to escape the clan and her family situation.
there, she meets hawkstar (hawkwing) and leafdapple, who retired before the journey. she tells them about the clans' situation, and about sol. leafdapple is shocked, and recognizes him as the kittypet that she turned away in the gorge. she realizes that he must have come to get his revenge on the clans by turning the clans against each other.
frecklepaw returns and realizes that gorsestar and thornstar plan to raid shadowclan to forcefully release riverclan. frecklepaw tries to get tigerpaw to listen to her and return home before he gets hurt, but he refuses. but he does believe that sol is a fraud. frecklepaw gains her warrior name, frecklecreek. she realizes the only thing left to do is help riverclan by herself.
in secret, she meets with minnowtail to plan an uprising.
fourth book:
pov character: minnowtail
minnowtail tries to drum up support from her riverclan clanmates, but they refuse out of fear. she is turned into murkystar, but manages to escape before she is killed. she shows up in thunderclan to gain help from them and windclan. frecklepaw fears for her brother's safety, and wishes they could peacefully do something. but minnowtail assures her that they will try to avoid too much death.
the clans try to warn murkystar to surrender before fighting happens. but sol assures him that starclan wouldn't let them lose. with no other options, the battle begins.
im getting kinda lazy at this point, but shadowclan is defeated and riverclan is released. sol is chased out. earth surrenders. murkystar is demoted to an elder, and tawnyspark earns her nine lives. riverclan agrees that minnowtail should be their new leader. they begin to start to revise the code, but recognize that the clans will always be changing and adapting.

tpons initial/reading thoughts
keeping my "liveblogging" in one place to maintain my mortorium on spoilers
tpons spoilers below the cut. obviously.
prologue
i swear to god if bramblestar comes back and i don't get squirrelstar i might actually seek out the collective representation of erin hunter and kill her
chapter one
bristlefrost.
bristlefrost, can you hear me [1].
jayfeather is under exactly the same stress as alderheart. so either you're implying alder is weak or you're in the "adoption isn't real" camp and i'm neutral on you as a character, i don't want to dislike you.
you know, i thought the scene in mtbnsof where all of thunderclan is like "yeah, let's just exile squirrelflight" [2] was exaggeration, and honestly i spent a long time workshopping it to make sure it felt natural, but apparently i didn't have to do that, because the characters are canonically OK with it!
do y'all want your leader back or bramblestar? (i'm not salty nope not me.) also twigbranch the fuck do you mean "it would be wonderful if bramblestar came back" like what he barely let you stay in thunderclan stfg.
fuck, i can't tell whether or not sparkpelt is denying lionblaze and jayfeather as squilf's kits, but they're really ruining my good faith in adoption. or just proving my point that it's not about adoption.
does thunderclan care about shadowsight? what is going on i swear did they forget he killed bramble and is responsible for the entire mess right now?
chapter two
shadowsight you did a bad of course they're not hiding how disappointed they are you did a bad my son
lmao it's the reverse of tawnypelt's clan [3], shadowsight is being kidnapped against his will for the tribe. also please can we go back to the tribe but only if it's good
he listed dovewing next to "clan leader" not "clan leader's mate" which implies dovewing has shc's respect which yes i stan
aww siblings being siblings. i miss that from po3. nothing has captured it as well. well, like, the sight.
chapter three
you know, i think part of why i've struggled so much with this arc is because i just don't like any of the pov characters. i don't dislike any of them but i don't like them.
yeah! tree defending rootspring!!!! fuck. good fathers in warriors.
so rootspring calls lionblaze TC deputy which means squirrelstar [4].
god they go, like, ages without caring whose parent is who and suddenly they're covering it all over again but like, in an adoption bad way, and just, fuck you erin hunter [5].
it's good to see lionblaze does care about her, fuck, can we just get some consistency here. (i mean god rootspring he lost his mom too --- i mean, if anyone should know this, your mom was violetshine, posterchild for bad adoption, who fought w twigbranch over adoptive mother shit)
i want a bernie meme like "i am once again asking for adoption to be treated like a legitmate form of family."
chapter four
wait why the fuck is bris faster than windclan their whole thing is being fast
also that moonkitti video about harestar having no personality[6] is painfully real i know nothing about this man
oh huh we were just talking about windclan camp[7]. this is actually pretty similar to the first ever description, right down to bris wondering how people sleep there (they don't.) well, uh, credit where credit is due, good job for sticking to your guns on windclan sleeps outside.
i love how crow and breeze being difficult is just common knowledge.
oh, so crowfeather gets credit for the three? fucking hell man i'm done.
also fuck you crowfeather for victim blaming i will be making a call out post so help me [8]
okay i'm ngl it feels like bris is crushing on lionblaze. i don't think that's supposed to be a thing [9], it just feels like that.
okay okay okay i'm confused in earlier books the great battle was like a well discussed thing. god, avos had that whole the names of the fallen thing. and now, not even a full generation later, and bris doesn't understand the dark forest? (also who's even in the dark forest?)
(oh wait this book is going to answer that. uh for the record, now, squirrelstar/mtbnsof has been fully plotted and will disregard whatever this book says, unless it's good.)
oh wow i guess we're just throwing out the concept of the moonpool why don't we. really, everything i heavily justified/couched in mtbnsof is happening unironically in canon.
mothwing and willowshine god fucking damn. they're prob my fav mentor/apprentice relationship. mistystar's omen stg.
what is it with everyone and bouncing all the fuck around with squirrelflight? like, okay, i'd get it if they doubted her because yeah, i could make a strong argument about clan morality and her actions [10]. but they're so on and off about it i hate it.
shadowsight.
shadowsight, can you hear me.
you're literally saying, "i could solve this, if i had a solution to the problem."
well ig we know who he takes after.
chapter five
what's up with this "darkest thoughts" bullshit come on you're really going to invalidate ivypool like that?
lionblaze really do be going back and forth. can't blame him he's not used to having a character.
also, i really love jayfeather standing up for alderheart [11].
mothwing wtf how're you getting to hell you don't believe in it. how do you have faith in shit. also please stop trashing shadowsight [12]. that said, she's absolutely right, she would be the ideal cat for the job, considering she has warrior training.
jayfeather what the fuck dude why are you suggesting it. although i'm glad at least he acknowledges his connection to squilf. good job. good job for being the one fucking character.
willowshine. willowshine baby no. don't do it. willowshine. willowshine no. don't do it. baby. no. please. i'm crying please don't do it.
"well, Mothwing, I admire everything about you" holy fucking shit what a line that's a line to inspire so much fic [13].
willow please baby no. please. send kestrelwing or something. puddleshine. anyone but you please baby.
damn okay what is with the connection between mothwing and.
no.
no no no no no.
they're killing willowshine.
why.
she's. baby. please no. she's not read. she's too. no. i can't.
ffs moth please stop dissing shadow like this he doesn't deserve this. (also, unrelated, did, uh, did puddleshine name shadowsight for spiresight, a cat he never met and had no connection with? fuck i forgot what happened there.)
you know, out of the med cats, mothwing and jayfeather are the oldest. it's nice to see that dynamic have weight: when jayfeather speaks, people listen. it's been a while since we've had that role of the med cats in thunderclan.
god willow is dead and i'm going to sob.
chapter six
I FUCKING CALLED IT I HATE EVERYTHING
why did they have kill my baby [14]
when did rootspring get fucking responsible this is worse than when i got responsible
also mothwing i'm so sorry.
fuck.
i didn't cry i was too angry and i cried about it last night because i knew it was coming just.
they didn't have to do her dirty like that.
chapter seven
just, before we begin, still sad about this willowshine bs. give me back my baby.
oh gee bristlefrost i wonder why lionblaze can't talk about his mother being taken away
does this mean they're going to acknowledge adoption again? please let this not be me raising my hopes too soon.
also really with all this lionblaze = deputy stuff...i just want squils [15]
oh lionblaze is back on his bullshit again. like, dude. he was instructed to treat ashfur. he was ordered. jesu maria.
uh. spotfur. what the fuck?
okay, first of all, squilf was chosen as deputy, so yes, she does in fact inherit leadership. that's...that's just wrong.
if you want to complain about lionblaze, sure, i hate it as much as you [16]. but squilf?
yes, yes, please give me ivystar [17]. if i can't have squilfstar (and i don't think i can, hence the existence of mtbnsof [18]), please let me have ivypool. (although mousewhisker? who said that lmfao.)
uh, lionblaze? there are so many better choices. i think bristlefrost would do a better job. (that's not an idea please don't give me bristlestar.)
ayyyyy! graystripe! what a man. what a time.
(graystripe and his gd dramatic entrances.)
also it's good to see elders getting the respect they deserve. (wait what what what the fuck happened to him.)
hehe (mtbnsof spoilers) i'm glad at some level that like, i identified key things that need to happen to make the story interesting and compelling, and they're happening. tbc really is picking up with the good writing. i have a lot of thoughts about this, but mostly, like, these books have changed since when i started them, but i'm happy with where they got. also, lmao i'm dying because like, yeah fuck i don't even know, i can't believe both the worst and best parts of mtbnsof have made it into this. god. what a world.
oh thank god lionblaze is stepping down.
hey, uh...is anyone going to follow up with what graystripe was doing? this is getting sus i can't take another thing i just need to trust someone.
chapter eight
i'm still not over willowshine
i. can people decide if dark forest is punishment or. wasn't lionblaze against sending shadowsight? i can't remember shit i should be taking useful notes i have a memory problem xd
aww dovewing mom.
you know i have a quick q: in skyclan & the stranger, leafstar's kits call her mama. but i don't think we've seen any adult cats say that. what's up w that?
oh dovewing i love you but...nah i just love you
that said, uh, can shadowsight's behavior be treated consistently? i don't know something is just bothering me.
oh yeah icewing exists lmao. forgot about that. can this continue like can shadowclan be the new home for wayward souls? they kind of deserve it after all of the villains they've had. and the earliest books kind of implied shadowclan used to do that.
i really, like, okay. cats like icewing are all "durr hurr dark forest very bad" and then others are like "bruh hell is real?"
uh. nope. i hate this implication that the dark forst is poisonous. very bad very bad very bad.
aww tigerstr being a good dad. breaking the cycle. first one [19].
i really, like, why do cats blame shadowsight? he wanted to go? he wanted to be the one? like, wtf?
urgh who wants to be warriorcatsfandommisandry [20] would praise shadow's rule breaking while victim-blaming squilf for the same behavior.
well, uh, ig i'm glad mothwing secretly cares about shadowsight? like, that's kind of fixing her character. kind of.
chapter nine
wow this post is getting long whoops i mean it is all of my notes on a book. usually i condense em into the good stuff.
lmao shadowsight b like "yeah if i die sorry my dad's gonna kill u luv u thanks for coming >3"
seriously mothwing was definitely the cat to choose considering she could 100% fight. also, like, his body is at risk?
you know, i think mothwing is supposed to be having a jayfeather arc here, but it's crippled by the fact that we're not in her head [21].
how many cats are even in the dark forest wasn't this the whole plot of oots that they're all dead?
also, like, i'm glad mothwing is back to herself. i don't even care about the inconsistency i'm happy to have mothwing back.
seriously it's starting to get to me that the knowledge of the great battle is so inconsistent.
okay i like that we've ditched the "darkest thoughts" thing that was kind of stupid
squirrelflight
(i am crying she's here again fuck)
chapter ten
okay yeah valid gotta maintain that tension (altho fuck you erin hunter [5])
huh. i still kinda hate rootspring for basically no reason ngl
you know, i've never questioned this, but how the fuck does moss ball work? moss doesn't work like that god no no no i can't over think it [22].
you know, forbidden romance might be "overdone" but it's worth pointing out that we very rarely get the perspective of the cats in the forbidden romance
lmao what is it with greystripe? like? is everyone in love with him? i'm not being fair to him just...what?
emotional support wife dovewing [23]
i really wish there was a deeper bond between bris, rootspring, and shadow. i appreciate the viewpoints into different clans, but with no meaningful differences in culture, it's just weird because we're used to po3 and avos and stuff where our leads are really close to each other.
willow
willow baby
you know it's occurred to me i've never vocalized my love for willowshine on this blog before now? xd see i don't actually talk about my favorite characters that much. i talk about dovewing the most out of my top 3 (dovewing, jayfeather, willowshine, in no particular order), but they just kind of feel...too personal? because i have really specific reasons to connect with all of them.
dovewing just happens to be for reasons i'm most able to share >3
willow please don't be corrupted
chapter eleven
please i just want to know squilf is okay

okay i've said it before and i've said it again: i draw the line at cat cpr
wait what is daisy doing? fuck was i supposed to read the novellas first? is this what daisy's kin is about? when did daisy leave? did i miss something? what's going on??
okay can we...like, cats who aren't elders trained in the dark forest. this wasn't even a full generation ago. lionblaze. breezepelt. just...guys.
tigerdove...so cute. i love them [23].
where tf are the sisters they got here so fast
like bruh...i liked the sisters but now they're like, clan on demand ghost summoners? i think? idk clearly i'm missing something very important
emotional support wife dovewing
chapter twelve
i see shadowsight and i don't see squirrelflight and i have a complaint
oh uhhh who's snowtuft again?
also i feel like, i feel like i made my point about it being empty
a light in the mist title drop dodoododod
bruh what is ashfur even
oh series one cat xd yeah that checks
look. if they're not in the allegiances, i don't remember them for shit, okay? my series one memory is excellent, it's just that series one cared about thunderclan, and, like, tallstar
squilf squilf squilf squilf squilf if she's not in this chapter i'm going to scream it is 2am bitch
I AM SCREAMING BITCH
chapter thirteen
the scream lengthens
just give me her
at least i get to spend time with willowshine?
wait mapleshade is still alive? i thought someone killed her oop
also uh yeah how did ashfur amass power like, that bitch is an incel he's done nothing but fail to kill three cats and get murdered and go to heaven
are there even enough dark forest cats for that?
rootspring this is a bad idea don't do this haven't you seen horror movies stop being the white chick
sad ghosts r sad sigh
chapter fourteen
when did warriors get all "oh no can't do multiple chapters of the same narrator in a row" please nobody fucking cares that bris is sad i just want to see squirrelflight
lmao bris like "it's illegal to be atheist" bitch i read code of the clans exactly once i know it's dovestar who tried that and the answer was no.
ah, tree. actually mediating, for once.
god, bris...why is firestar's legacy so large? like, fuck, i know why, i just...
also, tree, she said a nobel and true Clan, not the clan. so like, maybe chill out for a moment [24].
hnnnng family drama also i really like that tree loves his wife very good very good
dfskj okay mothwing missing riverclan would be much more impactful if we actually knew what was going on in riverclan. (like, say, if willowshine was a pov in this arc [25]?) also, you know, riverclan has had so many problems with treating cats badly? god, a shadow in riverclan. wait, like, shouldn't mothwing also remember/reflect on this? wait this would be so much better if we had more pov for this fuck
also fuck off bris about being proud you are so fucking priviledged your forbidded romance drama is as intense as like, idek, the notebook? from someone who lived through, uh, forbidded romance that involved threatening to send someone to conversion camp [26], fuck off
bruh. why is she acting like thunderclan is gone xd you have no idea what it's like for a clan to almost fall apart yeah i stand by my comments on shadow/skyclan.
"what will my place be?" it will be a fucking warrior of thunderclan??? all you've ever wanted???? god she's...look i get it she's like, my age. and lord knows i don't react gracefully to shit. she's stressed, i get it. i do. but also, just, ffs bris. get it together.
"you die in the dark forest, you die in real life" can we meme that?
oooh okay it would be really good to get all three pov cats in the dark forest [27].
also, how long has rootspring been down there? how does this work? what's up with shadowsight? what is anything even? how long has it been?
thank you mothwing for pointing out bristlefrost is extremely unexperienced.
also can i just say, i really like bris' name? like i think bristlefrost is an extremely cute and good name. cute in that it's cute and good in that it conveys her character well.
god i want mothwing pov on this [25].
why is bris so convinced that if she doesn't act, rootspring isn't coming back?
chapter fifteen
wow i had a lot of notes on last chapter huuuh
oh vibe do i finally get squilf
stopping caring about bramble shadow no one fucking cares
seriously when did ashfur get this, uh, good at being a villain?
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
she's
here
fuck i'm crying
poor bb i just. poor baby.
okay. ashfur. let me making something clear.
i do not understand why in the world squilf would ever choose bramble [28]. but you're fucked as a choice.
ffs yellowfang this is why we don't say "his only crime was loving too much"
okay well as much as i'm confused by his power his characterization here is fantastic. i'm really glad we got ashfur back as a villain, you know.
good job squirrelflight. do not take unnecessary blame.
(also please learn to transfer these skills to your pos husband.)
#when you can't get her to love you by killing her husband and dragging her into hell so you think you can make her love you by showing her how you're torturing the souls of her loved ones
you know i had the snowtuft thing spoiled for me i just forgot who snowtuft was so it had 0 impact
damn bramblestar is still alive.
dammit.
people kept calling lionblaze deputy don't do that to me if you're not following through on it ffs
okay not to pimp out my own fic but if you're interested in a squirrelstar au, "may there be no sadness of farewell" is my squils (squirrelstar) au and it does have an imposter arc. so you know. if that's your thing.
hnng my thoughts on bramble [29] aside i can appreciate the drama
ashfur. ashfur. ashfur you fucking idiot you're the one fighting her. also fuuuck i love this character. if i was bookmarking this on ao3 you know it'd get the "hot damn" tag.
huh. uh, wow. good chapter. hot damn. loved it. loved it so much.
hate what it means for my hopes and dreams, but very good. very intense. i approve.
chapter sixteen
eh, wasn't she going to the dark forest? did i forget something?
ohhh dream
huh this is interesting
and cute.
i love the "everything is fine" trope so much tho
does...did no one ever describe ashfur to bris?
you know, i think this is why so many people, me included, go with the we-don't-talk-about-our-villains thing. sure, it makes some bits awkward, but...yeesh
huh. weird chapter. both impactful and kinda meh.
chapter seventeen
you know i'm feeling a lot of things right now, and i might have to just give in and finish this damn thing.
we'll see.
willow willow willow willow willow
sigh ffuuuck she's dead. i'm sad. i'm going to write a fic about her. "under a willow tree" i have plans. it's going to be good.
yeah see okay. i made a joke about warriors needing to make not talking about shit part of the culture and i'm glad they did because it works
squilf!!!!!!!!!
oh fuck i'm crying again. my girl. she's here. she's here.
of course they saved you!!!!!! you're!!!!! squilf!!!!!!
please get nine lives.
please.
let the body be dead.
let bramble die.
please.
chapter eighteen
okay seriously i really want to memify "if you die in the dark forest, you die in real life"
oh rip shadow's ear. that sucks. huh. i'm gonna have to explore this, too. esp. w dovewing.
eeeeee mothwing being mothwing again i'm happy
willow
mothwing stick to ur guns for a moment
also i appreciate the "u can't tell me what to do i'm a med cat" thing going on
hehe tigerdad (where's dovewing my beloved)
chapter nineteen
wow okay i'm 3/4 of the way through
dammit rip squilf something something exploring some canon complient stuff.
huh, shadowsight. do you think maybe. being in the dark forest. is bad. do you think. maybe.
bruh shadow way to go call out your own father smh.
mothwing, my dear, you're the one who didn't want to treat him like that. i mean i'm glad you're standing up for him but this kind of makes your whole treatment of him feel like a plot device.
okay, i'm glad that's a formal thing, med cats > leaders, that makes me happy
i really want to know what alderheart is up to.
yeah really why have they waited so long. i mean i forgot about them too but the sisters seem like an obvious choice? since they're here?
(also i'm still really confused by the daisy thing.)
heh i really do need to read squilf's hope. i've been putting it off (i don't want to read cft, but...), but i think it's about time.
rootspring what? okay going to read it now ig
okay okay i'm really glad the sisters are like fuck we're done w y'all cause that's been a long time coming
what debt where the sisters in to the clans XD???
chapter twenty one
"moonpond"xxd i'm dying
awww tigerdad
don't the sisters know the basics of herbal healthcare?
poor tigerstar. no no guys. his wife was in a dangerous prophecy, and now his son is. :(
tigerdad!!!!!!!
ohhh this chapter hit hard
chapter twenty two
"the sign of a true leader" is...talking fast?
dfsjadfskj rootspring you are lead by leafstar the best and most capable leader the fuck are you talking about
:((((((((( brambles........alive
is squirrelstar so much to ask for
y'all're lucky i was going to release "ilex aquafolium" tonight as a follow-up to "better left unsaid" because freyja (my cat) chose it to be next in the rotation but i might end up finishing chapter three of "may there be no sadness of farewell" first because coping
chapter twenty three
you know writing that chapter did not take me better i forgot mtbnsof is angst until like...the epilogue
heyyy they're back....i'm.....soo....happy...about......this [30]
i mean i feel like every one is way too trusting how do u know it's the real squilf?
shadowsight bris rootspring polycule? just a thought
oh. so that's it, then.
you know, i enjoyed it.

it's called "leader chance" if you're interested ↩︎
okay, techincally i was talking about riverclan dens, but it's close. ↩︎

including my own fuck. ↩︎
spoilers for mtbnsof. i mean i know i killed willow for exactly the same reason but...why'd they have to lift all of my least favorite parts of squilfstar. ↩︎
squilf but for squirrelstar. coined in my drafting notes for mtbnsof ↩︎
to be clear, he's wrong, i just wouldn't bother arguing because it's annoying having lionblaze as clan leader. ↩︎
nts: do something with this. mtbnsof spoilers. even if i don't end up going through to squils death, i want to do something with ivystar, preferably before the entire clan is ocs. ↩︎

oh. so that's why i don't like her. ↩︎
it triples my odds of seeing squilf. ↩︎
i do. i really, really do. but until the erins acknowledge it, i try to ignore it in canon. otherwise i get too sad. ↩︎
as mentioned before, when i'm interacting with canon, my standards are a lot lower. because i like to enjoy the stories. that's why i write fix-it fic. ↩︎

an abridged history/explanation of warrior cats if you didn’t read them as a kid and have questions (a primer)
welcome. i’m going to keep things to the point, this is not a plot summary, just, well, its a pandemic and people are seeking items of childhood comfort and its come to my attention that a lot of people didn’t read these books as kids and then they come up in conversation and they act shocked so! i felt compelled to write this.
[2.5k words, 10min read. section headers, no pictures. not a ton of helpful formatting. i don’t want to say don’t read this because obviously i wrote it and think it’s worth reading, but i’ll be honest, this is a lot.]
section one: about me
i was an avid reader as a child, most of which fits solidly into “stories for another time,” and some of which would necessitate me adding tags onto this post that are, well, not necessary. so i will skip over that backstory but for those aware of lexile scores, i had one that was too high for literally any book that was appropriate to give me. so reading in school was torture and reading for fun was excellent.
now because i was a first-ish grader and my mom was trying to keep the fifth harry potter out of my hands, she looked desperately for something else to pass to me. her friend, who had a daughter a year or two older than me, was into these cat books, and my mom was like “here honey you like cats” without thinking too much about it.
which is good, because as i’ll get into, it was a really good fit for me. but like a dozen books later she asked me about the plot and well. i think at that moment she realized that it might have been better to just let me read harry potter.
but yeah i continued to read them long past the recommended reading ages and still as a Young Adult will return to them for nostalgia, and also as i will get into, some really good books. (see a list of books for “morbidly curious but i don’t want to spend 56 to 168 hours reading this”)
i’m not fully caught up on the series but this is not a plot summary so that should not impact my ability to discuss this
section two: content warnings
these books (not this post) includes the following:
discussion of castration (1.1 series 1, book 1, i’m not including this on every item/discussion because this is a complicated series but i want to demo how up front some of this is)
teenage romance/sex/pregnancy (1.1ish-1.3 or 4, continues throughout the series quite a lot, comes up again in 3.4/5, 4.4-5, and a bit in 5)
death from childbirth (1.can’t remember which book, many others)
unwanted pregnancy (se super edition, or a longer one off novel, discussed in 4&5)
sex/implied, discussed, and very very very heavily hinted but never directly said/shown (1.1-3ish, se, other)
murder (constantly, 1.1, 1.4, literally every book, 3.5, i’m just listing the ones i remember off the top of my head that were particularly graphic)
disability/illness, esp. the debilitating and/or deadly nature of it (1.3-5ish, 3.1, but all of 3, 3.4ish)
dementia (1.3-5, i’ve heard in some of the later series?)
abuse (7/8 this is reported i haven’t read these books but based on what i know it’s def there)
child abandonment (1.4-5, 3.4/5, it’s also all over the place but i think those are the only major character incidents of it)
treason (1.3-5, all over the place)
the horror/tragedy of war (background, but pretty constant)
disagreeing with an integral religion/tradition (3, based on the series title, 8, and generally scattered)
the corrupting influence of power (1.4/5, possibly 7/8, others)
racism (1, 3-5, possibly others)
sexism (se, background)
patriarchal societies (se, seems to be somewhat softened based on what i’ve heard but i’m not entirely sure about this)
and more! but it starts to get stranger and this is enough to prove my point
basically everything that could go wrong does
oh yeah! child abuse also child abuse that’s a very major theme in the first series as well as during other points. and elder abuse in the first series.
okay i’ve made my point.
section three: the appeal
look. so. i think we’re kind of pastel-ify children’s literature based on movies. see, parents have to watch children’s movies with their kids, so they can’t be gritty and intense because a lot of parents will say “not for my nine year old! they can’t deal with treason!” and that seems to be bleeding into children’s literature.
but warriors is not that. it’s intense, it borders on “too gruesome for children,” and it’s from a time where kids books got to be serious and heavy and dark because they were about animals. which was great because i couldn’t find books at my reading level that weren’t too thematically difficult, so i got to read something below my reading level, but thematically too hard, so it kind of balanced out.
and then well. so. the series grows with the audience, but the books don’t grow in terms of like difficulty so new readers start deep into it and it’s a complicated thing, the fandom history is complex, but.
the appeal is that parents don’t usually read the books their kids read and so they see a book about cats and assume it’s fluff, and kids who are starved of complex content get to read hamlet-for-kids.
section four: worldbuilding/lore
oh yeah also there’s some really deep lore to explore. so there’s two bits of appeal.
i’m not doing a full world/plot summary, but i’ll explain some common elements here.
thunder/shadow/wind/riverclan: harry potter houses for cats (gryffindor, slytherin, hufflepuff, ravenclaw, except this doesn’t work for the last two but that’s fine because no one cares about them despite riverclan being pretty important in most of the books)
-kit/-paw/-star: naming conventions. everyone has a two part name. (we’ll use cinder as an example because i like the two cinders we know, even tho neither of them get to be cinderstar.) babies are -kit (cinderkit), then when they’re apprentices, which is like being a student, you know, elementary through high school, you’re paw, so cinderpaw. then you get an Official Name from ur clan leader (cinderheart). if you become clan leader, you get to be -star (cinderstar). i know i haven’t explained clan leaders bear with me. this is kind of important because i have the names burned into my memory so i cannot simply always call firestar firestar if he was firepaw at the time of the events i’m describing. it won’t be ambiguous, cinderheart/cinderpelt are a special case. if this is tricky for you it’s fine just only read the first part of the name.
clan (leader, deputy, medicine cat, elder): roles with in the clan. leaders literally have nine lives. deputies are next in line and chosen by the leader. leaders usually go through several deputies, because deputies don’t have nine lives. medicine cats are doctors. they also have an apprentice. those are all one per clan. elders are just retired cats. they’re not a special category per say, but i wanted to mention them.
warrior: adult.
warrior code: laws.
star clan: dead cats. this ties into the religion which is pretty important to the books but for the most part if you understand that dead cats get to give guidance and send their approval, you have the gist of it.
section five: so um, what the fuck
so we start with a cat named rusty who runs into the woods to join thunderclan and then his name is firepaw and we all forget that he’s named rusty except for like that one time it comes up again. bluestar is a great leader with some corrupt deputies but fireheart eventually takes care of it and becomes clan leader which is a big deal.
then a bunch of other shit happens and suddenly ashfur is possessing brackenstar and being (more) abusive to squirrelflight (who is on the outs with brackenstar anyway for lying about their kits jayfeather, hollyleaf, and lionheart because they’re actually the children of firestar’s other daughter leafpool who had them with crowfeather after she fell in love with him but he’s from windclan and she’s a medicine cat so that’s double illegal and apparently hollyleaf is alive even though she yeeted herself into a pit and died because she killed ashfur when he threatened to reveal this but couldn’t live with being the product of an illegal meeting and then it was all pointless because leafpool stopped being a medicine cat out of guilt anyway and jayfeather is just an ornery bitch about everything but especially all of this)
i’m not explaining any of that.
section six: i repeat: so um, what the fuck
so the thing about these books is they’re soap operas and dramas about cats and that means they get just as strange and chaotic as anything else in the genre. i think a lot of people like me, who read them as children, regard the series we knew as a child (usually either the first three or the first five, plus super editions) as something good and warm and comforting (despite being dark and gruesome) because they made us feel good.
they were also a breeding ground for young fandom because of all the the drama that exists and the nature of the books providing that.
section seven: super editions
the simple answer to what a super edition is has already been given (it’s a novel length one-off about a single character, and its usually either a side character - bluestar, crowfeather - or a event/perspective we don’t get to see - firestar, skyclan, greystripe - and they’re generally more mature)
my favorite super edition is bluestar’s prophecy. i read it at like 16, slinking into the children’s library with a stack of other ya fiction and a “children’s book” which dealt with unwanted pregnancy, grief, forbidden love, and more. still not sure why that’s in the children’s section.
section eight: about the drama
so there’s been a lot of fandom drama about these books. i can’t tell you about the nuances, because i am an old fan, so i watched but didn’t partake. the highlights reel that i can recall goes as follows (please note i will refer to characters by name without explanation. it’s fine. the point of this section is to convey the pettiness of this drama):
tigerstar: did he do anything wrong? (the answer is holy shit yes, this isn’t discourse, it’s okay to like a villain)
scourge: did he do anything wrong, also what color is his collar? (also yes, doesn’t matter)
was the new prophecy (2)/omen of the stars (3)/etc good? (yes, eh, no, yes, no comment, no comment)
should jaypaw or hollypaw be medicine cat apprentice (neither of them, but jaypaw’s employment opportunities are limited because he’s blind, so its gotta b him)
uhh a massive tangle around this parentage drama between squirrelflight, leafpool, brackenfur, and crowfeather, which i used as the crux of humor for how batshit the plots can get, so i’m not even going to pretend i can make it funny, but just know that it’s batshit and the correct opinion is as follows: no one is right, but squirrelflight has done the least wrong, brackenfur is an asshole to her where it’s unwarrented, and hollyleaf is an idiot
and the current drama centers around brackenstar and ashfur and is tied directly to the point above, which is why i’ve kind of given up trying to make jokes about this because this is the culmination of like 35 novels.
section nine: i feel like i need to have some conclusive point to justify writing all of this
but i don’t have one, because this was really an excuse to ramble about an old passion for like half an hour. i mean i guess i can say, like, i think younger fans are sort of embroiled in this drama they don’t really have context for, because i’m not kidding, the current drama centers around the grandchildren of our original cast.
it’s kind of hard to know why, say, mistystar matters if you don’t know that she’s the child of bluefur and oakheart and if you don’t remember the drama that surrounded that when bluestar was dying and tigerstar and leopardstar were ruling a combined shadow/riverclan.
(i really hope that’s intelligible i tried to lay the groundwork for it. basically, there’s a biracial kid in a very segregated society who becomes the leader of one of the clans. which is obviously drama, especially considering that that clan was part of a weird supremacy movement a while back.)
& you know? i really hope one of the new series gets to be like, a soft reboot. just. end the current drama and pick up again with the latest generation. a) we’re starting to run out of names, and b) i think that it’s kind of tipped over the edge of sane.
the series also used to be very low fantasy. the cat societies are reasonably close to feral cat colonies (the biggest detail is that toms don’t all have their own territory, but there’s honestly in-universe discussion of this and it’s basically a culture thing), and while star clan/religion is a real and legitimate thing, there’s also a discussion of its abuse and most of the early books don’t really use star clan/related ideas as a physical force so much as a plot device, barring, like, when a new leader gets their nine lives.
honestly, i’ll always adore these books for serving the role they did, and a lot of the series is fantastically well written. but the fandom surrounding it can be, uh, not great because 9-14 year olds don’t really have good brains to understand this.
also, i’m very sad that i can’t find the flash game that was for the great prophecy. it was not very fun, but i enjoyed playing it, so if anyone knows the url so i can search the internet archive for it, please let me know.
section ten: i’m morbidly curious but there are 56 hours of books to read, assuming a very fast reading pace, so is there something i can start with to experience this without dedicating 4 days to it?
yes, there is.
it’s called bluestar’s prophecy. it’s standalone, and i should have given you enough of a background on the lore that you don’t need to know anything else. i’ve already given away the twist in series 1 that it would spoil, so you’re all good on that front.
if you want more, or want the original experience, the first series is self contained and quite good. i’ve given the broad outlines of the plot, but trust me, there’s a lot of surprises and all sorts of things i skipped over because while i like it, it’s not exactly fandom primer material
i also enjoy firestar’s quest and skyclan’s destiny for super editions, but you’ll need to read the first series to understand FQ and FQ to understand SD, so it’s not exactly a starting point. also, SD especially deals with a very different set of themes as the other books.
also, if you were to, say, search “readwarriorcats” (no spaces) on duckduckgo, and then click on one of the first links, you know, not the official site, the one hosted on one of those free website things, you know, not wix, not wordpress, the other one, you would only find lists of the books with hyperlinks.

Note
In the world of the redux, how does Leafpool cope with being a seer who not only took a lover, but also bore kits? How does her clan treat her if they're aware of it? Does the whole "they're not my kits, they're my sister's" thing go through? Or does this whole nonsense not even happen?
Well, I’m not running the sequel to the Redux, but, if I was going to write it, I’d have it a little something like this. We’ll be calling everyone by the names they have in canon to make things easier.
Leafpool’s treason against the code is noticed the second she starts smelling...off. In fact, a couple cats already know something happened between her and Crowfeather, because the two ran off and then came back together. They came up with a lie that Leafpool had left for some personal stupid reason and Crowfeather had happened to catch her and convince her to go home, but Squrrelflight and Cinderpelt immediately see through that. They say nothing until they have to, of course, because they’re loyal to their sister/apprentice, but eventually they do speak up when the Clan collectively (and literally) sniffs Leafpool out.
And boy howdy, are they pissed.
Leafpool is forced to admit what she did and almost gives up her position in shame, but Cinderpelt argues for her skill and (beforehand) good behavior and suggests the Clan just have her give the kits to another queen and then silence the matter forever. Firestar consults with his senior warriors and agrees to this, and he manages to get everyone to begrudgingly stay quiet. A question comes up, however: these kits won’t look like anyone in the nursery, so who will be their parents? Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw, having tried for kits and been unsuccessful, offer to take on that role if the kits look sufficiently like them. By pure fortune, the trio does when they’re born! How lucky!
The kits get to bond with their new parents as they get bigger, and everyone keeps hush-hush about the whole deal, but... the three aren’t stupid. They can sense something’s weird by the time they’re apprentices. I mean, Jayfeather’s awfully lanky for a ThunderClan cat, and Squirrelflight didn’t even nurse them (they bought the excuse that she was just unable to produce milk for a while, at least), and Leafpool always has such a forlorn look when she’s talking with her sister, and gee, everyone sure is quiet around their seer, aren’t they? And on top of that, their mentors keep them away from the WindClan side of the border. They have to go all by themselves if they want to check out the moorlands.
Of course, as soon as they start asking questions, everyone either dances around the answer or sharply tells them to quit it. It takes a natural disaster and a high-tension moment for the truth to come out. And when it does...
But y’all know about the Redeux. I’ll stop there.

Thoughts on the Silent Thaw
Submitted by: honeybeesickness
Sooooo I finally got to read it and I have to speak.
-How did Brambleghost not see someone take his body?
-Rootpaw ignoring the ghost of a cat begging for help because he doesn’t wanna be like tree? God he’s a stupid boi
-FIX THE ELDERS DEN CLOUDTAIL AND GRAYSTRIPE DIDNT LIVE THIS LONG FOR YA SHIT
-Please let Dewnose kill Fakestar just because he forgot his name
-Jayfeather doesn’t seem like much of a dick in this book as he was in Lost stars thank god.
-The fact that Thriftear and Flipclaw’s warrior ceremony happened between books angers me. They’re LITERALLY the Protagonist’s siblings also Ear and claw make me think of Smallear and Tigerclaw.
-Goddamnit Rootpaw quit drowning.
-Fakestar trying time get Squirrelflight to spend more time with him instead of doing normal deputy duties makes me feel like it’s Ashfur. Also why give Bristlefrost so many duties? She’s young as heck. It’s like Fireheart assigning Patrols in The Rising Storm
-Bristlefrost doesn’t need all this responsibility at such a young age and the way he continues to praise Bristlefrost just feels wrong.
-Thank god Tree had a moment with his son. Please… Let Rootpaw learn to like his dad and not see him as strange.
-Fakestar needs to let Squirrelflight do her thing. We all know if you don’t let Squirrelflight do her thing she will beat your ass.
-leaders eat before the elders? Graystripe please put him in his place or one of the elders Cloudtail Brightheart but like ONE OF THEM CHALLENGE HIM. Not Thornclaw though. He’s too conservative at this point to stand up to Fakestar.
-Banishing Lionblaze? One of the strongest cats in the clan? You do realize if you get in a battle without Lionblaze it’ll make things a lot more difficult than it has to be. The only cats I can think of that are stronger than Lionblaze are Squirrelflight and Bramblestar. Also this makes it seem like Ashfur because we know he has a personal vendetta against the Three. With Hollyleaf dead and Jayfeather in an important position of power Lionblaze is the easiest to get rid of.
-Spotfur not being aloud to speak? God damnit leave her alone. She’s also one of Lionblaze’s kits.
-OKAY WHY WAS ANTFUR CLIMBING A PINE TREE?? AND WHY DID TIGERHEARTSTAR LET HIM OUT OF CAMP?!
-Cinnamontail and Blazefire’s reactions to their friends death made me almost cry.
-Shadowsight just Shouldn’t listen time his dad. Be rebellious you good boi
-“I’ll check who my parents are before I’m born next time.” Put him in his PLACE Lionblaze
-Personally I think Lionblaze is listed as a code breaker because of his short relationship with Heathertail and killing Russetfur.
-DO FUCKING NOT KILL SPARKPELT WHO YOU JUST GAVE A SHIT TON OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. IT WOULD ALL BE WASTED IF SHE DIES. Also if we specify her injuries and they are REALLY bad maybe she could Bond with Brightheart who has also been attacked by dogs.
-The dog trap is giving me Tigerstar flash backs. But also Ashfur’s mom did die because of the scheme so Ashfur is still a possibility
-Finally realizing it didn’t come from Starclan. It took him a whole ass book to realize. I personally like to think Leafpool chased him out of Starclan. Like when people said Bluestar chased THC out of Starclan.
-Rootpaw telling Bramblestar to Shut up will forever be remembered.
-Breezepelt I Hope will convince Crowfeather, Nightcloud and His family about Bramblestar cause they are a FORCE to be reckoned with. And Crowfeather knows Bramblestar like he knows how to catch a rabbit so I completely think Crowfeather would understand Breezepelt.
-Stemleaf can likely get his Siblings on his side cause why else would they still be alive?
-Spotfur can rally up Lionblaze and his other kits along with Cinderheart.
-Sneezecloud can get whatever family he has in Riverclan.
-Tree covering for Rootpaw even though Rootpaw thought he was rude is so nice of Tree. He understands how it feels to be casted out for being different and doesn’t want that for his son and I love it.
-Yes Squirrelflight and Leafstar’s connection hasn’t been forgotten. Please let their friendship help in the final battle.
-Dovewing should have stayed in Twoleg Place and become a Kittypet. I wouldn’t trust any of this shit.
-Bramblestar hushing Shadowsight when he says his visions weren’t from Starclan is quite worrisome to me.
-Tree wanting to leave the clans makes me quite sad but I definitely understand why he would want to.
-BUMBLESTRIPE YOU BITCH. Graystripe didn’t raise you to be like this. Also I’m worried he’ll become an antagonist and insist on Dovewing’s punishment due to her breaking the code instead of being with him cause he’s an incel like that.
-Poor Squirrelflight. She came back to life to be with her kin and now she’s being forced away from them. Ashfur doing that is quite possible. He wouldn’t want her to stay with the family she built with Bramblestar and not him.
-Tigerheartstar listen to Tree goddamnit last time you didn’t listen to a Skyclan cat you ended up Killing Leafpool and Moonlight in a rock slide.
-I hate Scorchfur. Please kill him. If I remember Correctly he agreed that Rowanstar’s Leadership was weak and continued to Question his authority leading to Shadowclan’s destruction. And now he’s going against code breakers even AFTER Shadowsight says his visions weren’t from Starclan?!
-Either we get Berrystar or Berrynose dies brutally there is no inbetween. Personally since Fakestar was showing anger towards Berrynose I’m leaning on the latter.
-“Twigbranch and Finleap continue their punishment of digging up a thornbush, which the new deputy makes harder.” Berrynose makes a lot of things harder tbh.
-There is no goddamn way Shadowsight died. He can’t be dead don’t do this to me.
Overall. It was a good book. Fakestar is a bastard and so is Tigerheartstar. Another Cliffhanger ending to make Readers wait for the next book release.

I have too many stories part 4: Series 3 and 4 stuff
Since Power of Three and Omen of the Stars are all in the same-ish set time, here’s the stuff for both.
To Sleep, To Dream where Jayfeather’s adventires with the Ancients are a bit more detailed. He meets Half Moon as an elder in his dreams, of which he has three types. History Lessons, where he sees everything we know from the books. Self Reliability Lessons, which arw hunting, fighting, and basic herbs because he should learn something even if he is blind in the waking world. Those happen with eyes open and closed. And Power Using lessons, where his dreamwalking and “mindreading” is put to the test because he uses them rather passively in canon. It’s great that he was able to save Poppypaw from going to StarClan, but I was hoping to see Cat Psychiatrist Jayfeather and we didn’t get that.
Fortune, where ThunderClan takes in a rogue from what turns out to be a trafficking ring run by other cats. They have to get her used to not only their way of life, but life in general because they teach cats to do nothing but obey whatever higher-ranking cat they take orders from. It’s definitely one of my darker stories.
Shadows of StarClan, an Omen of the Stars AU where cats are reincarnated to help the Clans prepare for the Dark Forest. It changes StarClan lore here. And it was before I knew what Dawn of the Clans was even supposed to be.
The Outcast, which comes in one of two flavors.
One is Disgraced, where Hollyleaf is stopped from killing Ashfur by Breezepelt, who broke away from the Dark Forest like Lionblaze did and is friends with the Three even before he knows the truth. Ashfur causes a scene at the Gathering and when everyone gets home, the entire truth is told, including Ashfur’s collusion with Hawkfrost and Fire Temper Tantrum, and consequences are handed out. It turns out that Ashfur is now being haunted by Hawkfrost, so even though these actions would have been taken even if he weren’t, the heaping pile of foxdung that is Hawkfrost is actvely encouraging and adding to it. Ashfur’s only solace is Thornclaw, who, for some reason, is able to get through to Ashfur when he’s being haunted. None of this excuses the actions he takes, because Hawkfrost wasn’t around during the fire, but he has different reasons and motivations for doing the things he does here.
Two is Runaways, where Squirrelflight manages to tell the Three that she wasn’t quite lying about adopting them but Brambleclaw knows and they were going to tell them shortly after they got their warrior names. They’re closer here, so they take her at her word and find somewhere away from camp to rest. Brambleclaw finds them, learns what happenes during the fire, the five of them decided they can’t stay in ThunderClan so they move to the Island. When the Gathering comes, they decide to reveal themselves. Ashfur makes a scene at the Gathering and tries to say that Leafpool was their mother (she is, but she is the only living cat who knows that in this AU because she kept it secret from literaly everyone, not just “everyone except Squirrelflight”.) He is discredited, the entire truth comes out, and Firestar says that he will be put to death for his traitorous ways. After the Gathering, when all the other Clans have left and ThunderClan has gotten answers, the medicine cats of the other Clans feed him deathberries and bury him on the island.
Hidden, which looks at how Crowfeather's second family. When Breezekit goes mssing, Nightcloud and Ashfoot are the only ones really looking for him. Nightcloud finds him, and since a ThunderClan cat rescued him from the Moonstream, they escort her back to her camp because Nightcloud needs to clear her head before she can face her Clan again. Because they literally did not care and she is fuming. So when they get to the ThunderClan camp, the first cat to greet them is the rescuer’s mate, who comes on kind of strong and scares Breezekit. Turns out, Breezekit had a reason to run away. A WindClan cat named Amberleaf is being abused by her mate, Owlwhisker, and Breezekit saw. So Amberleaf leaves camp and Breezzekit follows to make sure she gets away but he falls in the river. Now they have to find Amberleaf before Owlwhisker does and Nightcloud has to decide if she and Breezepelt are safe to go back to WindClan.
Secret Life of A ThunderClan Medicine Cat, where Cinderpaw the First meets a rogue called Storm, a blind cat who’s run into BloodClan before and is reluctant to join the other Clans. He and Cinderpaw meet several times throughout her apprenticeship until her accident, where they have to stop meeting because now it’s completely against the code. Storm eventually joins ThunderClan and has a myriad of adventures up to where he dies saving Smokepaw from falling in the mountains on the Great Journey. All of that is a setup to Cinderpelt and Storm being Cinderheart and Jaypaw reincarnated. The Kin of your Kin prophecy has nothing to do with reincarnation, though Jaypaw does meet the Ancients. Plot twist: when Cinderpaw was born, a Dark Forest cat managed to get to StarClan and disrupt the ceremony, so ow Cinderpaw has Hawkfrost haunting her, sort of. Chaos ensues as canon events try to unfold around this madness.
The rest of these are one-shots
AU where Hollyleaf kills Ashfur and gets up on the tree as in canon but Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw shut that down hard and fast by acting like, I don’t know, her actual parents, who are especially concerned because there was a fire in their territory! What are you doing up there?! Get down before you run out of breath and hurt yourself!
AU where Lionblaze has a caveat to his invincibility powers: His powers are tied to his emotions. Meaning cats he cares about can inflict lasting damage on him. So, like, it’s really obvious when Ashfur starts using claws in battle training, because those heal slowly, but a mock fight with Hollyleaf using accidental claws might leave no mark. Ashfur’s Fire Tantrum is an ultimate betrayal so he’s coughing for half a moon after that. Heathertail fighting him in battles is taken personally so he gets scars. And he always gets scarred by the Dark Forest because that place absolutely terrifies him.
Oneshot where Squirrelflight drags Ashfur for filth during the fire scene and doesn’t spill any secrets.
AU where medicine cats learn the basics of geneaology so they can discourage inbreeding as much as they can, which leads to Jayfeather knowing about his parentage early
Oneshit where Ivypaw dies as an apprentice in the Dark Forest. It shows her vigil. Tigerheart and Flametail burst in, hoping to get to her in time but they don’t, so instead Tigerheart explains what the Dark Forest and Flametail works with Leafpool to prepare her body.
The Moons Without Stars, where Leafpool doesn’t find the Moonpool until right before The Last Hope, so either they go all that time without a connection to their ancestors and have to reform themselves without the weirdness of Broken Code OR leaders and medicine cats become more important than ever because StarClan can still contact some cats in dreams.

Warriors Song Post
what up here’s a bunch of songs that i connect to warriors in some fuckin way. this took way too long and i’ll add more later because i couldn’t everyone in the tags lol
People in my Head by Oceans on Mars: Goosefeather - If the title wasn’t obvious enough as to why it fits him, the song is about hearing voices and going mad because of it. If that doesn’t fit Goosefeather, what does?
Twisted by MISSIO: Darktail - The whole song is about a bad guy with fucked up thoughts and how his dad was a shit but had a good mom.
Bottom of the Deep Blue Sea by MISSIO: Bluestar - The song is about addiction and depression. And well, Bluestar has depression so there we go already but it uses the specific metaphor of drowining which is strongly connected to Bluestar’s character, so it fits even better!
Everybody Gets High by MISSIO: Sol - It’s his tragic backstory. I mean if this was a human AU this would just be his backstory. Sol is an evil gay, makes sense if he had a homophobic upbringing which led him to drugs and eventually running away. Makes sense to me at least.
Kamikazee by MISSIO: Sol - This is a song about greed, desire, and dark hearts. Who has all three? That’s right, it’s Sol baby! The boy desires all the nice things in life and will not stop at anything to get them.
Best Friends by Grandson: The Kin - So I’m kinda cheating with this one as it isn’t a singular characer but my post, my rules. I feel as if this fits best when Needletail and the other apprentices joined The Kin. Thinking they’re so cool and shit.
Kiss Bang by Grandson: Leafpool/Crowfeather/Nightcloud - Okay again not a singular character but my post, my rules. Basically this song represents Crowfeather’s relationship with the two of them. In short: a fucking mess
Things Change by Grandson: Crowfeather - I’d say this is specifically about Leafpool soon after the badger attack, but could still work for him and Feathertail. Either way, this guy is dumb angst monster lmao
Saint Bernard by Lincoln: Mapleshade - This is a song about one-sided love and how the singer won’t be going to heaven. Also it’s fucking scary so Mapleshade :)
Hellbent by Mystery Skulls: Ashfur - It’s him about Squirrelflight. He does not care that she is in a relationship. All he cares is that the relationship she’s in, isn’t with him. All he wants is her and he truly won’t stop at anything to have her.
The Wolf by SIAMES: Tigerclaw - This is another song that’s about addiction but it has a strong theme about being out of your mind, and well, if you kill people I don’t think your sane. And in a way, Tigerclaw could’ve been addicted to killing. Either way many of this song’s lyrics (and especially the chorus) remind me of him so he gets this masterpiece of a song to himself.
Same Old Forest by Nathan Sharp: Firestar - This fits Firepaw/Rusty specifically but hey I prefer using the most recent names of a character in the title. Anyway though, this song is all about beginnings and wanting to be something (while also being a protaganist) and who could fit better than Firepaw? I mean one of the lyrics is literally: “Because compared to every child you know, you’re something else”. Tell me it isn’t about Firepaw.
Far Away by Nathan Sharp: Spottedleaf - This is a song sung by a female about the character from the previous song on this list, who knows that the character is destined for greatness. Tell me it isn’t sung by Spottedleaf.
Time to Go by Nathan Sharp: Yellowfang - Yellowfang is the grumpy grandma we all know and love. If you know her and then listen to this song and say she didn’t sing it you’re so wrong it’s unbelievable. Did her savior just wake up? Yes. Is she going to push him out and force him to save the world now? Yes.
Drowning by Nathan Sharp: Bluestar - Look at the title. Okay but the song is about losing everything in your life and well, the water metaphors :}
Shell by Nathan Sharp: Bluestar (w/ Firestar) - I think this fits really well for Bluestar and Firestar’s relationship. Bluestar after having been almost murdered by her trusted deputy, Tigerclaw, has lost faith in everything. Fireheart is desperately trying to keep her what remains of her, alive. The chorus speaks for itself, she is a shell, almost entirely withered away. Just, it’s mostly Bluestar but the way the lyrics go it sounds as if someone is speaking to another character about Bluestar, which in this case is probably Tigerclaw and Firestar.
The Evil King by Nathan Sharp: Tigerclaw & Firestar - This is their final battle in song form. At the end it becomes a duet, but for the majority it’s Tigerclaw monologuing about why he should and deserves to win. How Firestar should’ve never come to the forest, as he was meant to rule the forest as his father did before him, unfortuneately this is a YA novel which means that evil can never win.
Unaligned by Nathan Sharp: Ivypool - I imagine this is when she’s starting to realize that the Dark Forest isn’t good. That it’s full of evil cats, but because she’s only started to realize this their abusive teachings are still in her head, thus “You took me in, showed me love when I had nowhere to run” is a lyric. She’s done bad things by joining them, she doesn’t know if she can be good but she knows she doesn’t want to be bad.
Dead Silence by Nathan Sharp: Mothwing - Mothwing can’t get it out of her head that she is the daughter of Tigerclaw. The worst cat in the history of the Clans yet she chose to be a medicine cat, a peaceful cat who does no harm. Her intrusive thoughts won’t stop reminding her of how brutal her family as been. Her father first and then her brother, Hawkfrost, second. Maybe she is destined to be a violent monster, she knows it isn’t true but those evil thoughts say otherwise, and she can’t ignore them any longer.
Epcoh (TLT Remix) by Salvonic: Hollyleaf - After she ran away from the gathering, she had a lot of time to think about everything. She had time to regret her actions and came back to apologize, and hope that she would be accepeted. Just about everything in this song fits her and someone needs to make a map for her with this song because it fits her so fucking well it’s insane.
Terrible Things by Brick + Mortar: Ivypool - She sees no difference between her and her sister, Dovewing, yet her sister is consistently praised more than her and gets more attention. Ivypool then joins the Dark Forest as they claimed to have seen in her, what her Clanmates saw in Dovewing. Instead of dreaming, she fought hard to get the attention and mild praise of a few dead cats. She murdered cats for them and all she got in return was a free t-shirt.
Burn The House Down by AJR: Squirrelflight - Honestly this just gives me some lighthearted Squirrelflight vibes. More so when she was still an apprentice and wanted to be treated with the same amount as respect as a warrior but she tried to gain their respect in ridiculous ways, such as joining Brambleclaw on the journey to the Sundrown place, for instance.
G-G-Ghost by Steven Universe: Fallen Leaves - He’s just a ghost boy who wants someone to notice him!
Noticed by MandoPony: Sol - This theatre gay just wants someone to pay attention to him! And if you do look away, he might have to kill you. M i g h t
Nothing Personal by Night Riots: Darktail - He came to erase the Clans. He will wash away their history, he will make himself the leader of his own group and lead them with an iron fist, his ideology is correct. To the members of his group he is a shining star, a beacon of light and truth.
Contagious by Night Riots: Shadowpaw - This is more speculative but it seems to me that he could definitely start to think that he is bad, wrong. Because of the voice in his head. He is plagued with lies, just by existing he has broken the code. He has to remind himself, it isn’t his fault that he is shunned, looked down upon. But everything is wearing him down. Reminding yourself that it isn’t wrong to exist is tiring.
On the Line by Night Riots: Tawnypelt - Tawnypelt is the type to give all she has for her Clan. Sometimes she gets nervous but she fights through it because her Clan is what matters most.
She Wants Me Dead by CAZZETTE: Crowfeather - This is just every female in Crowfeather’s life at him.
Bet on You by The Man Who: Mistystar - Back when Mistystar was known as Mistyfoot, she crtiticized her leader, Leaopardstar harshly. The latter did let her brother be murdered. Though Leopardstar would’ve risked her own life, among everyone in her clan’s life, had she tried to stop it from happening. Leopardstar made many mistakes throughout her life but Mistyfoot always came back to her, in the end she knew Leopardstar was only doing the best she could.
Choke by I DON’T KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME: Darktail - Only he would say the most fucked up things while having a genuine smile on his face and making it sound nice. He only cares for himself, and a distorted love for his mother, painting her as this perfect being who was ruined by his father. I have no doubt that he would do all the things in this songs, given he were able to of course.
Crossing a Line by Mike Shinoda: Leafpool & Squirrelflight - This is all about the truth of Holly/Jay/Lion and how they want to tell them, but don’t know how, and just that whole mess is this song.
Play with Fire by Sam Tinnesz: Brokenstar - He is one of the most evil characters in the series, using child soldiers will do that though. He takes pleasure from seeing cats die, especially kits. He enjoys watching others suffer, especially if he can gain something by it. He forced WindClan out of the Clan territories because he wanted the extra hunting land.
Monster (Under my Bed) by Call Me Karizma: Tigerclaw - After his father left, Tigerkit felt alone. His sisters were dead, and his mother was heartbroken. He looked for friends in the shadows, hoping that they’d take form and want to play. It took some time but they took form in the shape of a cat. She was a transparent tortoiseshell, claiming to be of ThunderClan’s past. It didn’t matter to Tigerkit though, she promised to make him the strongest cat in the forest, in all of the Clan’s history even. That’s what mattered to Tigerkit. He wanted to be strong enough to take down any of his enemies and most importantly, his father.
Wolves (You Got Me) by DREAMERS: Fire/Raven - Firepaw is the new apprentice and oh no there’s a cute anxious boy. “Guess we’ll fall in love” they said, and then they did. Firepaw learned how to hunt, and fight. Though it was a bit harder because he was absolutely smitten with Ravenpaw.
Our Song by Vinyl Theatre: Sandstar (w/ Clan) -  (Med-Cat!Fire AU) This happens before the battle with BloodClan, when they’re still preparing.
High Hopes by Panic! At The Disco: Hollyleaf - (Wind!Holly AU) - This is her coming home after leaving the tunnels and rescuing Dovewing, and Ivypool. She is welcomed back warmly by her mother, brother, and best friend (Heathertail)

shadowclan: cedarheart (elder), snowbird (warrior), starkit (kit), tallpoppy (elder), whitewater (elder) windclan: breezepelt (warrior), crowfeather (warrior), boulderfur (warrior), crouchpaw (apprentice) thunderclan: sandstorm (warrior), squirrelflight (warrior), cherrypaw (apprentice), dewkit (kit), snowkit (kit), firestar (leader), poppyfrost (warrior) riverclan: minnowtail (warrior), robinwing (warrior), lizardkit (kit), mosspelt (warrior)
i got so excited when i rolled breezepelt (hes my fav) and then… crowfeather was rolled right after and oh BOY the potential!
basically in this au, nightcloud was the first cat who died in the battle, which caused breezepelt to switch sides. he blames crowfeather and is distraught, and crowfeather is like… er…. oh no…. this really sucks and im awkward, im just gonna go. he leaves breezepelt to mourn in shame, and he finds squirrelflight mourning over leafpool and her children, and now he’s just a complete mess, so he keeps running. boulderfur and crouchpaw were close friends who had been given a warning by breezepelt to escape before it was too late and taken it. (breezepelt was boulderfur’s mentor, and crouchpaw had been a sickly kit just like breezepelt himself, which is why he warned them.) They eventually return because they felt guilty leaving their clan behind, and were horrified at what they came back to. Later on after Crouchpaw earns his warrior name, crouchfoot, after breezepelt’s old family name, he and Boulderfur become mates.
blackstar had ordered snowbird to take the queens and the elders of all clans to a safe location before the battle, but they’d gone in sets, and so only snowbird, tallpoppy, and whitewater survived, but thankfully pinenose’s kit was found nestled in her body and they took her to safety. since all of these cats who were in the first set were shadowclan, many cats held a distrust for snowbird, thinking she was biased to prioritize her clan. pinenose had been like a niece to snowbird, since pinenose was mentored by ratscar, so snowbird felt like she owed it to her to raise her kit. the kit was named starkit after all who had been lost in the battle.
thunderclan had been by far the luckiest clan, even their leader survived. poppyfrost wanted to cry with happiness when she discovered that her daughter had survived, because she’d lost everyone else. cherrypaw was actually already warrior age when she was apprenticed, but she and her brother had both been born prematurely and severely weak due to the stress poppyfrost had while carrying them (cough, breezepelt, cough), so they had only recently been made apprentices. cherrypaw was named cherryfall after blossomfall, who had sacrificed her life to save her. she feels really out of place because she is a new apprentice, yet still older than the only other apprentice, crouchpaw, who had been an apprentice for several moons. squirrelflight is distraught over losing brambleclaw, leafpool, her three kits, and every other friend she’s ever made besides crowfeather who she lost connection with, but is glad to have her parents still with her. she and crowfeather later reconnect, and find comfort in each other. sandstorm wanted to retire badly, but seeing at how little warriors they had, she remained a warrior to help the clan. firestar was horrified at the destruction that happened, and feels like it was unfair for him to have lived over the rest of his clan. dewkit and snowkit had survived by a miracle, and the brothers remain close their entire lives.
mosspelt, who is literally so old please let her rest, offers to act as a mother to all of the kits, but it is agreed upon that the surviving kits (aside from those who are actually related) must not be raised as kin so that the new clan can eventually have new generations. she does get to be a mother to lizardkit, who grows up to become the new medicine cat. robinwing and minnowtail become mates and have kits later on.
OOOOOOOHHHH I LOVE

hhhh I need to talk about this warriors au sitting around in my brain anyways here goes
Differences in clan custom:
- It’s pretty normal to bring in and/or mate with outsiders so as to keep the gene pool not so... incesty...
- Clans pretty much are a large family unit. It’s not uncommon for cats in the same age group to think of each other as siblings despite not being from the same litter.
- LGBTQ+ is seen as a normal thing and accepted without much question. It’s customary for cats to introduce themselves with their pronouns included.
- Mollies can be deputies/leaders while nursing kits. The idea that they can’t is just sexism.
- Sign language is a standard skill because,,,, let’s be real,,, it’s pretty much practicality.
- Disabled cats can be warriors because the only reason they can’t is ableism.
Storyline changes:
- Tiny was found by Bluestar on her own rather than Thistleclaw and Tigerpaw. He becomes part of ThunderClan under the name of Nightpaw, and later Nightstorm.
- Rusty and Princess join ThunderClan at the same time as Firepaw and Kindlepaw. Firepaw is trans.
- Sandpaw and Dustpaw don’t bully Firepaw. However, Sandpaw is generally unpleasant because of losing her father recently, and Dustpaw is destructive and unpleasant because he and Ravenpaw were loner kits with an abusive mother before coming to ThunderClan. They both get support.
- Ravenpaw stays in the clan and earns the warrior name Ravenfeather. He has support for his anxiety and PTSD.
- Mosskit is the child of Bluestar and Thistleclaw (result of a one night stand). They are non-binary and go by they/them. They’re a ThunderClan cat and their warrior name is Mossheart. They mentor Firepaw.
- Tigerclaw is less Obviously Evil, he’s a lot more covert about his actions.
- Tigerclaw is Snowfur’s son and Whitestorm’s brother. That’s why Bluestar falls apart after that, because that was her nephew and she loved him dearly.
- WindClan doesn’t get kicked out because that’s whack and really never would have happened in any sort of realistic scenario.
- Brokenstar is less... stupid. He makes smarter decisions. Basically, instead of training young kits, he collects lots of rogue allies and wages war on the other three clans.
- Crookedstar X Bluestar instead of Oakheart X Bluestar. Because the idea of this just being a taboo subject that a lot of people kind of know about, but they’re just rumours and like as if our two clan leaders would have had an affair with each other? Gold.
- Crooked X Blue have Mistyfoot, Stonefur and Silverstream. Bluestar pretty much stares down her daughter and thinks “why did she do literally the exact same thing I did” and Silverstream’s death is the first thing that starts pushing her towards breaking.
- Stormkit and Featherkit go to RiverClan without a fight because the claim does belong to the mother’s clan regardless of circumstance. Graystripe doesn’t change clans (he can’t bring himself to leave his entire family for one that won’t trust him) but is still very much present in his kits’ lives.
- Firepaw, Kindlepaw and Graypaw stay apprentices until the end of the second book.
- Dustpelt, Ravenfeather and Sandstorm become warriors before the other three apprentices.
- Cloudtail is Ruby’s son. Ruby is leader of BloodClan (renamed “The Clowder). She couldn’t deal with having a son and leading The Clowder, so she gave him to Nightstorm instead.
- Fireheart, Kindleflame, Nightstorm and Cloudtail actually have significant family relationships.
- Cloudtail, Ashfur and Ferncloud are foster siblings and it’s relevant.
- Cloudtail, Ashfur and Ferncloud are Sandstorm’s younger siblings and it’s relevant.
- Dust X Fern is changed so that it’s less creepy.
- Snowkit lives. His warrior name is Snowcloud.
- Cinderpelt, despite being disabled, is not a medicine cat because she’s disabled. She’s a tripod (born without a leg) rather than an accident happening. She becomes a medicine cat because she wanted to be one.
- Yellowfang was originally named Murkstorm, but Brokenstar changed her name as a way to disgrace her.
- Swiftpaw is Brambleflower (Bramblestar) and Tawnypelt’s older brother and it’s relevant.
- When The Clowder comes to the forest, Ruby tries to take Cloudtail back. He declines, and ThunderClan straight-up refuses to give him up.
- Leafpool is a demigirl and Squirrelflight is agenderflux. Brambleflower and Squirrelflight have a toxic relationship (so basically canon) and eventually the truth about the three’s parents is the final straw that break’s the camel’s back. Squirrelflight gets together with Nightcloud and Brambleflower with Stormfur. Alderheart and Sparkpelt are Nightcloud and Squirrelflight’s kits.
- Squirrelflight and Crowslash (Crowfeather) have a one-night stand resulting in kits. Squirrelflight rather than Leafpool because it’s less out of nowhere. Squirrelflight doesn’t know if the three are Brambleflower’s or Crowslash’s until the kits are born and Hollykit has almost his exact coat and Jayfeather has the exact same WindClan build. Crowfeather knows upon seeing them that they’re his but keeps quiet. Brambleflower notices but blames it on coincidence. He had some doubt in the back of his mind but it’s mostly gone by the time they’re apprentices.
- OKAY SO the story behind Squirrel X Crow. Instead of Feather X Crow, Crowslash and Squirrelflight have a highly passionate affair during the great journey, before breaking it off because they’d rather stay loyal to their clans. Squirrelflight moves on with Brambleflower and Crowslash “moves on” with Nightcloud. At first, all seems well until Squirrelflight and Brambleflower have a massive fight, and she finds herself at WindClan’s border. She is met with a Crowslash who immediately moves to comfort her. They end up getting more... sexual (Crow just can’t resist his old flame). Afterwards they are both extremely ashamed and vow to never speak of this again. That is, until Squirrelflight gets pregnant...
- Lionshade (Lionblaze) becomes the medicine cat instead of Jayfeather. He’s terrified of his powers and doesn’t want to hurt anyone. He and Jay say “fuck you” to destiny.
- Hollyheart (Hollyleaf) is the third cat. Their power is persuasion. They can convince others to agree with them or do things for them. They can’t make them do anything against their morals and it might not work against a particularly strong-willed kind of cat, but they just have a kind of... charisma about them. She doesn’t die in the last hope, but near the beginning of a Vision of Shadows.
- Dovewing is the fourth cat. Her powers remain the same. She’s pressured into becoming mates with Bumblestripe by her friends, Rosepetal and Blossomfall, because he loves her. However, she feels nothing for him. She’s only ever had one crush before, and it was on Sedgewhisker, an older molly from WindClan. She finds herself more and more drawn to another friend, however... Briarlight. Briarlight listens to Dovewing without judgement and helps her find the courage to break up with Bumblestripe. The two mollies become mates not long after.
- Ivypool is pretty much the same as she was in canon but Fernsong is a bit older. Blossomfall is their other mate and they’re in a happy polyamorous relationship with their lovely kits, Bristlefrost, Flippaw, Thriftpaw, Shellfur and Plumstone.
- Thornclaw’s a single dad, his kits are Eaglewing and Stemleaf.
- Leafpool dies in the final battle of Omen of the Stars, leaving Lionshade devastated. Hollyheart also dies. Lionshade then takes on his younger half-brother, Alderheart, as his apprentice, and it becomes a really precious sibling bond.
- Shadowpaw is Tigerheart’s son with another molly (not sure who yet). He’s still the same as in canon, just not Dovewing’s son. Lightleap and Pouncestep are still Dovewing’s daughters however.
- Tigerheart never becomes leader. In fact, he STAYS. DEAD. Tawnypelt is ShadowClan’s leader instead.
And yeah that’s all I got so far should I make a separate blog and turn this into a rewrite?

Power of Three Alternative Universe. (C-1.)
Well, there's a user named SFW Furries and Monsters, they made a Power of Three Alternative Universe where Crowfeather joins Thunderclan. I made the first part but I cannot message them oddly, so I'll post it. Maybe they'd see it. This is only part one, up to the point where they are escorted back to Thunderclan. (I've no idea what happened with the first letters of every sentence. Just decided to un-italics.)
Near Thunder-Wind Clan Borders.
A black-furred tom padded along the border. The air carried a chill as the snow stung his pads like ice. He needed a walk to clear his head. He remembered a time long ago when he had been willing to leave this place, leave it all behind for one whom he loved. Yet, she had a family, after all. And so did he, even if he didn't know it. But as chance would have it, he would become part of a Legendary tale this day.
The tom eyed two passing she's through the cold winds, they appeared to be no other then Squirrelflight, and Leafpool. Leafpool... If only things had been different. But perhaps... His eyes widened as he saw his old mate, for here, Crowfeather had seen a startling sight. Her belly, had been round, her body, exhausted. Was she... She was having kits? Could it possibly be?
He looked at the ground at his feet, senting the faint border, but while the code binded him, he had no choice. He had crossed the small river dividing the territories, and now crossed the final line. He was in Thunderclan grounds now. He must make haste.
He dared to follow them through the blinding white, thanking Starclan that the bite of the cold would kill his scent. However, it also killed there's. Tracking them became difficult, even prints had filled up, or simply been lost. He wandered in a painful cold until he took shelter under a thick bush, not yet fallen from life. Here he rested, he could hear them nearby. After a while, a few low meows could be heard, and they set off again.
His jaw shivered, clicking his teeth repeatedly, he forced himself to breathe, and keep walking. This was getting way too cold, although perhaps it felt it was dying down a bit?
Finally a clearing opened, rather small, yet the snow was thinner, thicker trees were around, and one at the middle of the clearing, was hollowed by lightning so long ago, and there he saw a glipse of his old mate, curled up, screaming. He watched in shock, crawling closer to the side, the tree's hollow entrance had thick vines of random sorts lining it's edges, giving an opportunity to see through without being seen in the main doorway.
He lingered, waiting to wonder his chances of simply introducing himself, he wanted to help, he did. But then... Something happened he did not expect. A... Name?
Squirrelflight had spoken in surprise: "Feathertail!"
His ears shot up at the mention.
His thoughts raced: 'Feathertail?... She's here? What, where?'
His thoughts raced as he pushed up uncomfortably close to the main entrance, he was certain Squirrelflight had heard him, yet she kept her attention to Feathertail as they had spoken inaudible things. But he focused enough to hear what he needed to, to seal his future decision, he eavesdropped the conversation, peering through the walls of the tree:
Feathertail: "These kits are more precious than you could possibly know,” She mewed softly. “Cats will speak of them for many seasons to come. They must stay in ThunderClan, for all the Clans’ sakes, with a mother and father who can be proud of them, who can share them with their Clanmates to be raised as strong, loyal warriors.”
His thoughts spoke up again: 'I would... Could I actually be a father? I... Could things go back?'
Leafpool opened her mouth to protest that this was impossible, her Clanmates would never accept Crowfeather as their father, and might reject her too, knowing that their medicine cat had destroyed the code.
He heard her few words and sighed deeply. It was likely true. But, now? He has no choice. He must make this decision.
Yet Feathertail was looking at Squirrelflight. “I know how much Leafpool loves these kits,” she murmured. “But you must be their mother and raise them in ThunderClan with your head held high.”
Squirrelflight stared at the starlit she-cat. “How can you do this?” she whispered. “You are asking me to lie to every cat I love.” Feathertail ran her paw very lightly over the backs of the sleeping kits. “Because I love these kits as much as you do. They are Crowfeather’s: How could I not? I want them to have the best life, not one lived outside the Clans, in shame and exile.”
“Do you wish they were yours?” Squirrelflight whispered. The silver cat blinked without looking up. “That was never meant to be."
Crowfeather broke in a small cry. He understood it was truth. Perhaps the past could've gone different.
Finally he thought: 'Damn it. I have to this. I'm sorry Feathertail, I hope you'll be proud of me by the end.'
Feathertail continued: "The destiny of these kits begins now, and you have the power to change everything, Squirrelflight. Please believe me when I say that Leafpool’s kits must stay in ThunderClan.”
He thought a last thing: 'They will. They will, I promise. And I'll be with them.'
As his tears fell, Feathertail faded away. And as Crowfeather lifted his head, Squirrelflight quickly snapped to look to the walls. Had she... Heard him? He slowly inched forward, until a white paw smashed through the thick vines of the wall and knocked him back into the clearing.
Squirrelflight padded around walking up to him, she had not seen his face, and she might be less then welcome to reason with someone stalking them. He had to get to Leafpool. As she grabbed his shoulder he lunged up and slammed Squirrelflight's stomach with his foreleg. As she merely growled, Squirrelflight quicky latched her claws in his neck and lifted him slightly by his jaw with strength that made Crowfeather fear for his life for a short while, before a shout startled him.
"Wait! Squirrelflight let him go, it's Crowfeather!"
Squirrelflight heard her sister's cry and looked back at Crowfeather. "Can we... Talk?" He choked out. She dropped him, throat rumbling. "I still don't like you from the great journey." Squirrelflight remarked.
As Crowfeather sat regaining his breath, he stated: "I'd like to think I've changed a fair bit. Haven't you?"
Squirrelflight smiled, thinking for a second before replying: "Perhaps in some ways."
Leafpool called back. "It means she's still very temperamental."
Squirrelflight eyes her sister with a betrayed look of child like anger as Leafpool smiled evily.
"Well... That's good to know... Ow." Crowfeather stood and felt the pain of where the ginger cat hit him. "Thank you for that."
Squirrelflight turned to him once more. "And why are you here?" She meowed.
Crowfeather looked at Leafpool with a pleading gaze, then at the small bundles at her belly. "For them. If there's anything I'll do in this world for my own glory, it will not be missing the chance to see my kits. I hope you understand that."
Leafpool felt her jaw lower, as if to speak unknown words, but she couldn't say anything. She was happy at last, that he may be ready to take the responsibility she wanted from him.
Squirrelflight sighed at Leafpool in wonder, as her sister spoke. "I think we can bear him until we depart for Thunderclan again."
"So be it. Welcome to the group Black Tornado." Squirrelflight smiled sarcastically.
"Black Tornado? How exactly is that an insult?" Crowfeather looked at his paws in confusion.
Squirrelflight glared at him with questioning eyes. "Because no one likes them."
"It'd be interesting to see one though." Crowfeather smirked playfully.
"You are correct. I'll think of something else." Squirrelflight firmly stated. Leafpool called from the den softly. "Leave him be sissy."
"That- Combining those words is against the Warrior Code!" Squirrelflight spoke as her sister grinned again.
Crowfeather awaited his chance to speak as the siblings bickered. "So... On a better note. Have you named them yet?"
Squirrelflight turned him with a twisted expression that read: 'Are you legitimately serious?' She spoke: "You literally arrived as the last bundle knocked his head on the floor!" Leafpool burst into laughter behind her as Crowfeather hung his head and sighed. "That's... That information isn't required."
"For you, all possible information must be relayed for your understanding." Squirrelflight scoffed.
"Alright." Leafpool gave Squirrelflight a more serious look. Reading: 'I think that's enough for now.'
Crowfeather hesitated before pacing up to slow at Leafpool, gazing at the kits. They watched them for a short while before the golden kit shot up and yowled with a rather cute voice, yet strong as his thick fur seemed to fluff up, appearing towering over his siblings.
Crowfeather laughed softly. "His strength reminds me of old Tigerclan legends. Or, I guess Lionclan with his fur. Perhaps that would be his name, could it? Lionkit. Leaf-?" He looked at her questioningly.
Leafpool's expression switched a few times. Fear, excitement, uncertainty, love. "If your words remain true, I won't deny you at least one name." She laughed softly. "I could do that."
Crowfeather smiled, seeing the kit stumble over his sister. Leaf peered over at the silver and blue kit who lay still behind his siblings, obviously wishing all the noise would. Just. Stop. As the black she-kit whined against Lionkit's pummeling paws, the silver and blue kit gave a light sigh and buried his head in his paws.
Leafpool breathed in delight at the sight of her family. "You know, his pelt is something I've never seen before... Like a blue jay. Yes that'll work. He'll be Jaykit." She spoke as she chuckled at the other two fighting still.
Squirrelflight sat silent before Leafpool addressed her softly. She picked her head up questioningly as Leafpool spoke. "Crowfeather named one. So did I. Three cats here for three kits. What about the black one?"
Squirrelflight looked uncertain as Leafpool spoke. "You're my sister, I'd definitely let you name one if I have THREE." She smiled.
Squirrelflight smiled, looking at the black kit, starting to roll over off Lionkit, trying to escape, holding an attitude. She gazed to her side, seeing a black bark tree. Her eyes went to slits looking at it, and back to the kit. "You know, her fur is strikingly simaler to holly bark. That might work. Hollykit."
Crowfeather immediately spoke with dangerous levels of stupidity and sarcasm at Squirrelflight. "Crowkit could work." Leafpool shouldered him hard with a frown that certainly held a hidden smile. Crowfeather laughed as Squirrelflight glared at him with childish rage. "Hollykit it is." Leafpool declared gazing at both of them.
Squirrelflight gazed at the sky lightening. "Day's come. Clan will be searching soon. Best not keep them waiting."
Leafpool sighed looking at Crowfeather as he too felt pain in his heart. But it took no hesitation for him to speak his choice.
Crowfeather sighed deeply. "I guess it comes to this. I- I never could imagine I would wake up and be here in an hour. I can't... Leaf... I would never again ask you to come with me, but perhaps the other way around... I don't care about what others think of me, I cannot leave these kits alone. Not now."
"With me?" Leafpool's expression turned serious and concerned. She sighed as she spoke as though it was rehearsed. "Crow, how? If you came to Thunderclan after all that's happened in our history, I'd be surprised if they didn't kill you. I know the pain I'd feel if I could never spend time with my kits now, and in Windclan It'd be your mind, not mine. And I don't want that for you. But how? And I have no idea what to do now."
"Leaf, I will not go down in history as the father who named his kit, and didn't spend any time with him. Not the father who never tumbled around or had a great night with a child who might be too much for one mother. I would love to be the cat who will survive all accusations and hard stares if just to block my kits from being the one to receive them. And Squirrelflight... I heard what Feathertail said. I would take that responsibility away. Feathertail said they must live in a Clan with a mother and father who will be proud of them, and they will. I did this, I helped make these kits. If I let them grow up without a true father, that's on me."
Before anyone could speak, he lowered his head next to the three kits and spoke softly. "My light is yours, my life, and love. But my pain need not follow. I will hold on to it for you, keep you from the cruel world as long as should be needed. With all the love in my heart and fear in my mind, I welcome you, my kits, into this vast and wonderful world that I love so much, the one with you, gracing it every day. Welcome."
As he finished, Leafpool had fell to tears. Squirrelflight... She may never have heard more beautiful words binding family.
Little conversation passed between the three. But it always ended to one conclusion. Crowfeather spoke: "This is my path. If it is a painful one, that's still my choice, I spent my life on selfish adventures, never understanding how much my life could be valued by the ones who love me, more than myself. I understand now, these kits may claim to feel no fear, claim they understand love, and they swear they'd be safe, but I'll always be there to worry for them. As a father it's my job. I cannot turn away from this. Else I should just jump in the river. I have to do this."
Before anyone could speak once more, Squirrelflight lifted her head in shock. "Where's Hollykit?!"
Crow and Leaf spun around looking for the little she-kit. Crowfeather spotted her stumbling over the branches at the clearing edge, heading towards a fall. "Wait, kit! Stay with those two!" He yelled at Squirrelflight as he darted to the black she kit who had ran and tumbled down a small hill, crying. Crowfeather skidded to a halt by her side, checking her over. He sighed deeply as his heart pounded. She was unharmed. "Why are you out here..." He whispered softly.
"I could ask the same." Came a stern voice that made him freeze. 'Oh no.' He thought. He turned to see Brambleclaw, Dustpelt, and Brightheart. Dustpelt had been the one to have addressed him. Before either three made a move, Crowfeather spoke. "I'm with Squirrelflight and Leafpool, please do not do anything blunt."
Brightheart spoke up threateningly. "Who's kit is that?"
Crowfeather's expression read: 'And how am I going to get out of this?'
"Well..." He began. "Leafpool's. Medicine cat."
As Dustpelt and Brambleclaw exchanged a very questioning glance, Crowfeather finished as Brightheart asked: "The father?..."
"Well if the black fur is any indication... Well... Mine. Mine... And Leafpool's. I'm sure you remember our past."
"Where are they?" Brambleclaw spoke firmly.
Crowfeather singled with his tail up the hill. Brightheart picked up Hollykit as she whined, while Dustpelt motioned for Crowfeather to follow.
As the cleared the hill and the hollowed tree came into sight, Squirrelflight gave a gasp of shock seeing them as Leafpool gave a sigh, half of fear, half of relief seeing Hollykit at Brightheart's paws.
Brambleclaw glanced at Squirrelflight, expression seeming to say calmly: 'What... Is this?' While her's simply read: 'Hello.' As she stood shocked.
Thunderclan Camp.
I'll write more soon. Hopefully the Alternative Universe creator sees it, ha.
