Lousy Three Nicknaming Contest Over!

A while back, I posted for suggestions for nicknames for Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti. I finally got around to catching them, so it's time to crown the winners!

First up- Munkidori.

He is now Mojo Jojo! I'm afraid I can't find the person who posted this name, but they came in early and hit hard. I grew up on the Powerpuff Girls, so this was pretty much over the second they hit enter.

Hua Cheng would ABSOLUTELY give his entire support to that little kid merchant who said he was gonna build a temple for Xie Lian after the Ban Yue mission concluded.

I can imagine that kid grew up to be the most successful merchant of his age, always having a little extra luck for reasons unknown to him. Even ghosts never disturb his company's shipments.

He also finds himself hiring a one legged beggar with a broken arm as his marketing rep--which turns out to be the best decision of his career. The company has a banquet once a year in the finest restaurant in the capital. The marketing rep brings the same dour faced stranger with him every year. This stranger eats through half of what the restaurant makes for the entire company.

Even though he never got Xie Lian's identity, events would unravel that would mysteriously allow him to figure it out. A puzzle that intrigued him through his adolescent life, very satisfying to finally solve.

When the merchant starts working on the temple he promised Xie Lian, he commissions the divine statue from an especially talented and earnest traveling sculptor with no references or background to speak of--he just has a good feeling.

Hua Cheng and Xie Lian visit the completed temple often, and even go there on dates sometimes.

First Plush Embroidery Escapade

Cyrena the Squishmallow went under the needle yesterday

I didn't really like the orange fur heart she came holding, so step 1 was to shave it!

The satin stitches turned out to be a little uneven, so I did some lining stitches over them and that helped a lot! It has a little bit of a "Crafty" appearance, but in person it looks great! I love the color blends.

Shi Wu Du took away everything that gave He Xuan happiness to give it to Shi Qingxuan, but if there's anything I've learned from how fate works in the TGCF universe, it's that resources like suffering, joy, luck, etc exist in fixed quantities that are just distributed differently. There is no second cup to give, and emptying the cup someone has doesn't get rid of the water, it has to go /somewhere/.

Therefore, facts and logic dictate that He Xuan's happiness is not gone, it simply exists within Shi Qingxuan now. Shi Qingxuan is He Xuan's source of happiness and good fortune--all of it concentrated into one place by accident by Shi Wu Du. That's why they get along so well despite the huge gap in personality. Or perhaps it shouldn't be looked at as a "why" but simply as "this is how it is" and other things are the why.

Christmas Steve Charcuterie Board

Christmas Adam is tomorrow, but I started celebrating today :P

It's very unlike me to make one of these without olives, but I had a lot of fruit from the fruitcake I made that I needed to use up, and I thought this would be a great way to do that.

I also committed a cardinal cheeseboard sin and used 2 cheeses with roughly the same texture, both bloomy rind (though at different stages of ripeness). Call me a textural simpleton if you like, I love bloomy rind :P

But Starch, you may be asking, why haven't you posted your fruitcake?

Ehehehe... I may have forgotten to take a picture before wrapping it up. Hopefully I'll take pictures before it is consumed, at least, on Christmas proper.

Underbust Corset for My Mom

It's my mom's birthday today. We like to go to Ren Faire together, and she really liked the leather underbust corset belt that I have. I told her I could make her one like it for her birthday if she didn't mind it being synthetic materials rather than real leather, and she said yeah, so I went for it!

This is 2 layers of vinyl with one layer of interfacing sandwiched within. The interfacing is stiffened with 2 layers of brushed on glue. I used an overlock stitch to stitch them all together. The sewing was 6 strands for durability, done with an embroidery needle. I drilled holes through for the lacing with my Dremel and hardened the holes with heat. Used a regular tan cord for the lacing.

Mine laces in the front and back, but she wanted a side lacing one, so I redid the pattern to make it like that. I think it came out pretty good, and she's really happy with it!

The materials were about 30 dollars.

I'm considering making myself a vinyl "leather" vest too.

After a lot longer than this needed to take, I’ve finally finished my first adult sized sweater. This is red heart acrylic. My own design, no pattern but a lot of numbers scribbled on various papers.

Definitely a learning experience, but a result I’m happy to wear... finished just in time for the warm season XD

Already started planning the next sweater before this one was even finished. Going to try out a little fair isle and see if I can hack it.

I've also already diverged my particular Victoria from the canon universe. This Victoria is Scottish because I misheard the accent when originally watching the show and I thought "Oh my god a Scottish character, I love it!" before I found out she was Australian.
