Song Review: Duane Betts & Derek Trucks - “Stare at the Sun”

Duane Betts can’t help but sound like his father, Dickey Betts.

But two singles in to the forthcoming (July 14) Wild & Precious Life, the younger Betts’ mimicry of the elder Betts’ Allman Brothers Band seems purposeful.

Playing alongside latter-day Allman Brother Derek Trucks, Betts uses “Whipping Post” as the melodic template for “Stare at the Sun.” Arrangement-wise, it nicks “Blue Sky” and “Back Where it All Begins” with lyrics, long guitar solos and a few more lyrics.

So when Betts sings: It burns/it hurts/but you know/who we serve, the words are more accurate than he likely intended them to be.

“Stare at the Sun” follows “Waiting on a Song,” a stone ripoff of “Ramblin’ Man,” ahead of the LP’s arrival.

i really think having an emotional connection is so important to bakugou sexually.

like, i think he has to be in the exact right mood in order to get off by himself at home alone. can't be too tired, can't be too stressed out, can't have too much on his mind regarding work or other things, and even if it's been a while and his body is sensitive and wanting for it—if his head is not right, he can sit there for hours and never reach his peak.
