Home - Part 10
Tumblr media
We spent all of Sunday at my place, Bucky and the girls seemed right at home which was nice. When it came time for them to head home Bucky asked me to go with them, Sam hadn't managed to track down Jack yet so he didn't want me staying home by myself. I didn't need much persuading, i packed an overnight bag and went home with Bucky and the girls.
Monday morning was soon here and it was nearly time to get up and get the girls ready for school, Bucky was still in bed with me, usually he would be up and dressed by now.
"As much as i love having you in bed with me Buck, arent you going to be late for work?"
"Not today doll, I've got an appointment with Mrs Potts at 9:30 then I'm working from home today"
"Who's Mrs Potts?"
"Principal, you still wanna come with?"
"If you want me to" i nodded stroking my fingers over his stubbled jaw.
Tumblr media
"I want you too"
"Okay, count me in" I kissed him quickly before getting out of the bed "im gonna go jump in the shower and get dressed before the girls wake up"
"Shower with me" he wiggled his eyebrows.
"We don't have time for that Buck" i laughed and left the room before he could change my mind (which wouldn't take much to be honest the man was irresistible).
Tumblr media
"Good morning James, please come in and take a seat" Mrs Potts said coming out her office. Bucky stood up taking my hand and leading me inside the office.
"Morning Pepper" he smiled at the woman with a familiarity, Mrs Potts.... Pepper, looked me up and down waiting for introductions.
"This is my girlfriend Y/N" Bucky introduced smiling down at me.
"Pleasure to meet you Y/N, I'm Pepper Potts" she reached out a hand which i quickly shook before taking the seat next to Bucky.
"So James, you said you needed to talk to me about Allie's teacher Ms Harper?"
"I do, honestly Pepper i don't think the woman should be aloud to work with kids" Bucky told her getting straight to the point.
"Okay.... what makes you say that?"
"Doll? Tell Pepper what happened"
"Sure....she made Allie cry because she wanted to wear a tutu and cowboy boots for a start, that alone was bad enough but the main problem was when i turned up to the mother daughter picnic to hear Ms Harper telling our 5 year old she shouldn't be at the picnic because she doesn't have a mom was the final straw!"
"She said what??" Pepper asked with wide eyes clearly shocked to hear this.
"Exactly! When i told Ms Harper she can't be saying things like that to a 5 year old she didn't even apologise! Just shrugged and said 'why not its true, her moms dead' i mean who says that to a kid Mrs Potts?? its disgusting and unacceptable behaviour from an adult who quite frankly should know better"
"James, Y/N im so sorry! Your 100% right, that is unacceptable behaviour from one of my staff and i will deal with her accordingly i promise"
"Thank you Pepper, i knew you would. I know you don't tolerate this kind of thing. I thought it best to sit down with you personally about the matter" Bucky said sounding very professional even though Pepper was clearly a friend.
"I just don't understand why she would target Allie like this"
"Ms Harper and i used to go to school together, she had always had a crush on me. Then when the girls started here she'd ask me out all the time and i'd turn her down. Ask Tony about Joanne Harper, im sure he'll remember her" Bucky rolled his eyes "she's never been spiteful to my kids until Y/N started doing the school runs"
"Even called me Mrs Barnes the first time we met" i added remembering that first confrontation with the she witch.
"Y/N was our nanny before we started dating" Bucky told Pepper "we haven't been dating long"
"I see, so she see's Y/N turning up everyday for school runs and assumes you got a wife? Wow" Pepper let out a breath as she tapped her pen against her notepad she had been making notes in.
"Crazy huh?" Bucky scoffed
"Id say so yeah, leave it with me. I'll deal with her".
After thanking Pepper for her time Bucky and I left hand in hand walking back to his car. We passed Allie's classroom and she smiled and waved happily, Ms Harper saw us both and was suddenly white as a ghost. I couldn't help but smirk at her 'i told you not to mess with my kid' i thought to myself as we continued the walk to the car.
Tumblr media
"I come in peace" Steve called through the door before walking in with Rosie. I hadnt spoken to him since dinner the day he asked if i was sleeping with Bucky.
"Hi Steve" i laughed rolling my eyes at how dramatic he was acting.
"Hey sweetheart, are you still mad at me?"
"No, how can i stay mad at that face huh?" I let him pull me in for a quick hug with the arm not holding Rosie.
"Thank you, i promise to keep my mouth shut next time"
"It all worked out okay in the end so dont sweat it" i shrugged.
"Yeah? So you and Bucky....?"
"Are together, so thank you i guess" i chuckled "guess we needed that push to admit to how we both felt"
"Your welcome" Steve smiled looking proud of himself.
Steve came with me to pick the girls up from school later that afternoon, Bucky was at home working, his assistant Chloe was sat on the sofa in his office quietly scrolling through her phone waiting for Bucky to tell her what to do.
"Chloe could you grab me a cup of coffee please?" I heard him ask her as i walked passed the doorway.
"Hey, nanny?" I heard her call from behind me and turned to look her way "Mr Barnes wants a cup of coffee"  she said before i could ask what she wanted.
"Im his nanny not his maid, besides he asked you to get it not me" i told her and continued on my way to the kitchen where the girls were sat at the table with Steve colouring.
"So girls what do you want for dinner?" I asked them.
"Spaghetti!" Brooke answered loudly sounding hopeful.
"Okay sure i can do that" i smiled and started to pull out what i needed.
"I want pork chops" Allie bounced in her seat .
"I don't think we have pork chops Al" i said looking through the fridge and freezer.
"But i want pork chops!" She pouted with crossed arms.
"Okay let me see what i can do" i said not wanting to let her down. I headed towards Buckys office to tell him i was popping out to the store but got stopped by Chloe.
"Im sorry but Mr barnes is busy, just because your his nanny doesn't mean you can just walk in".
Y/N: Your assistant is a pain in the ass! X
Bucky: what did she do? Xx
Y/N: I was coming to tell you that i need to run to the store, Allie wants Pork Chops for dinner but your guard dog wouldn't let me in, said just because I'm your nanny doesn't mean i can just walk into your office xx
Bucky: what a load of bullshit! You can come into my office anytime you want ;)
Y/N: haha!
Bucky: can you come to my office please? Xx
Y/N: Fine I'm on my way xx
As i approached Bucky's office Chloe stopped me again!
"I thought i told you that you cant interrupt Mr Barnes!"
"Bucky asked me to come see him"
"Bucky? Its a bit unprofessional for an employee to use his first name so casually don’t you think?"
"Its a good job I'm not just an employee then isn't it" i snapped pushing past her to Bucky's office. I felt her hand grab my arm and spun to face her "you better remove your hand from my arm before i break it" i said through gritted teeth.
Bucky's office door opened and he saw Chloe grabbing my arm.
"Chloe what the fuck do you think your doing?" He practically growled.
"I told her not to interrupt you sir but she wouldn't listen"
"Let her go, right now! I asked her to come see me"
"Oh....." she released my arm looking a bit sheepish and i walked over to Bucky.
"You okay doll?" He asked rubbing my arm where she had grabbed me before pulling me into his arms.
"Chloe you should go home, its not like your much help to me here. We'll talk at the office tomorrow"
"Okay" she nodded grabbing her things and making a quick exit.
"She's lucky you opened that door Buck, i would have knocked that bitch out!"
"Im sorry about her babe, i'll talk to her tomorrow don't worry. Ive ordered the pork chops by the way, they'll be here in 20 minutes"
"What? Who's delivering you pork chops?"
"I know a guy" he shrugged pulling me into his office.
"What are you doing Buck i need to start dinner...."
"Ive missed you all day"
"We can't do this now" i laughed as he pulled me down onto the sofa "Steve and the girls are in the kitchen"
"I'll be real quick they wont ever know" he mumbled as he kissed my neck.
"Behave Mr Barnes!" I wriggled off his lap "i'll make it up to you tonight i promise, but we got 3 hungry girls and a Steve to feed right now"
"Fine okay, but i'll hold you to that"
"I should hope so, you done in here?"
"Yeah i'll be out in a minute" he said resting his head back against the sofa as he tugged at the crotch of his pants that had gotten considerably tighter.
"You make it so hard to walk away Buck" i moaned at the sight.
"You just make it so hard doll" he smirked making me laugh.
"Down boy" i winked and quickly left.

part 1
pairing: bucky barnes x reader
prompt: there isn't one
summary: everyone teases bucky about his crush on reader
warnings: none
masterlist
Wanda hummed to herself as she took a seat at the dining table in front of Bucky. His eyes flickered from his laptop to hers. "Guess what I found out," she grinned and began to reach for his cup of coffee but he snatched before she could grab it.
"I'm kind of busy," he replied and began to type away on the keyboard.
Wanda rolled her eyes and leaned back on her chair, arms crossed. "You know, you're a very different person when you're not with Y/N."
Bucky looked up with a confused look. He could tell Wanda was trying to pester up by the look on her face. "I don't know what you're talking about," he shrugged and went back to looking at his screen.
"Sure you don't," she accused and drummed her fingers against the table counter and waited a minute before talking again. "Did you hear Y/N has a date tonight?"
Bucky's head shot up to look at her, his eyes narrowed as he glared at the young girl. "A date? With who?" Panic was visible on his face and Wanda did everything she could to keep herself from laughing.
"I wish you can see your face right now," she laughed, hand slamming on the table as Bucky huffed and closed his laptop. He stood up and gathered his things, heading for the exit.
****
Bucky splashed some water onto his face and looked at himself in the mirror with both his hands on the sink. He was breathing heavily from his workout and he should have just gone straight to his room and left his stuff behind in the locker. But he didn't want to make two trips to this floor.
"Tired, grandpa?" Sam laughed and clapped his hand on Bucky's shoulder as he past by to go to his locker.
"Ha ha, very funny," Bucky grumbled and sat down on the bench between the lockers. He worked on untying his shoes then unwrapping his hand before taking a shower in the locker room showers.
"Steve, Tasha and I are going to a drive-in later, want to join?" Sam asked as he grabbed his duffel bag and began to throw his sweaty clothes from his locker into the bag.
Bucky sighed before kindly declining Sam's invite. He was exhausted from his workout and Wanda's teasing all day. All he wanted was to sleep in his for the next decade.
Sam scoffed, "Did I mention Nat's bringing Y/N?"
Bucky's head shot up and he looked over at Sam with a raised eyebrow. "And?"
Sam shrugged and slammed his locker shut. He turned to look at Bucky with a blank face. "Just thought you'd want to know."
"Why would I?" Bucky replied and took longer than he usually would have when taking tbe wrap off his hand.
Sam smiled and titled his head to the side. "Come on man, we all know you like her. We all see the way you look at her."
Bucky remained quiet and shoved his belongings into his bag. He walked to his locker across from Sam's and grabbed his towel he brought earlier.
"So when you gonna ask her on a date?" Sam questioned and sat down on the bench, staring up at Bucky.
Bucky turned and looked at him with an annoyed expression. First he had to listen to Wanda talk about Y/N's fake date, now he's going to be interrogated by Sam. "Go watch your movie, Wilson."
Sam shook his head. "I still have another two hours. Anyway. . . A little birdie told me that she has a thing for a certain brooding, dark haired soldier."
Bucky was thankful that Sam couldn't hear his racing heart. "Let me guess, the little birdie was Wanda."
Sam raised a brow but shook his head. "No the little birdie wasn't Wanda. It was. . . someone else. So, what do you say?"
Bucky rolled his eyes and threw his towel over his shoulder. "Let me know how the movie is." Then he headed for the showers.
****
"Have you seen Wanda and Y/N?" Peter walked up to the two supersoldiers who were playing pool.
Bucky looked over at the kid and was surprised he was even talking to them. Peter was chatty but he usually stuck to people he knew. "No, sorry, Parker."
Steve scoffed and both Peter and Bucky looked at him. "Oh come on, you haven't seen Y/N? At all?"
Bucky groaned and looked annoyed while Peter looked between the two with a confused expression. "No I haven't seen Y/N," Bucky replied with a mocking tone.
Steve laughed while Peter stood there awkwardly. "We're going for frozen yogurt if you want to come," Peter smiled as he invited the two older men.
"No, we're fine, than-"
Steve hit Bucky's side. "We'll go," Steve smiled at Peter as he interrupted Bucky.
When Peter gave Steve the details and left, Bucky shot Steve the meanest glare he could manifest. "What the hell, Steve?"
Steve shrugged and began to set up the game all over again since Bucky won. "Come on, Buck, you should be thanking me!"
Bucky looked over at the window behind Steve that overlooked the city. For a moment, he debated whether he should fling Steve through it.
"We get some dessert AND you can see your favorite girl or at least that's what you call her," Steve snickered.
Bucky rolled his eyes. It was one time. No one ever lets things go. "I'm not inna frozen yogurt kind of mood," Bucky shrugged.
Steve nodded understandingly. "But Y/N is going, I bet that's enough reason to go."
Bucky sighs. He knows getting rid of Steve wouldn't be as easy as getting rid of Wanda and Sam. Bucky and Steve are like brothers and Steve is comfortable enough to follow Bucky around all day if he wanted. "Fine, but you're paying."

Coffeeshop au / college au?
Authors note: okay so... I had glanced ever a bunch of stony coffeeshop au's that made me so happy. Then I listened to a Male version of lady gaga's paparazzi and this came to mind. Couples are Cherik, Stony, and Spideypool. Its unfinished and up for adoption.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tony Charles and Peter start a coffee shop because they all can't live without coffee ofcourse. But according to Natasha and raven the brawny blondes better known as Steve Erik and wade are going to visit the café boys soon. The café boys are known as the brainy brunettes because Natasha and raven are assholes. Anyways the brainy brunettes and brawny blondes have a crush on eachother and are totally looking forward to this!
The bell jingles above the door as the door to the café opens. "hi!" smiles a boy with striking blue eyes and brown hair. "welcome to the nerdy boy cafe!" says another brown haired boy with acdc shirt. "that's not the name the cafe!" the third brown haired boy pouts in his spidered shirt. "yeah I guess your right.. Anyways!" the acdc wearing boy starts. "I'm tony!" he says loudly as the first brown haired boy says shyly "I'm charles" "and I'm peter!" says the brown haired boy wearing a shirt with a spider on it. Tony smirks instead of smiles. While Charles smiles lovingly and widely. Peter's smile is shy but loud enough. "so!"starts up tony, "what would you like to order?" Natasha and raven laugh loudly as tony and Charles pout. "I thought we were pretty good that time." Charles says pouting more. "actually I agree with Charlie here." tony says with a smirk. Peter sighs then all the brown haired boys sigh. "your sure you heard the brawned blondes were going to come here?" Peter asks skeptically. Natasha and raven smirk then nod. "I heard wade, erik, and Steve were planning to hang out here sometime this week." they both say their smirks getting wider. "but why would they come here?" Charles asks leaning on the counter. "yeah!" Peter says making natasha's coffee. Tony leans on the counter with his elbows looking at the girls as he says "were the brained brunettes why would they even think of comming here?" Natasha and raven both turn to eachother and resist the urge to face palm. "doesn't matter!! What matters is their comming soon and you 3 love sick cats need to be ready!" "I am not a cat!" tony hisses. Charles absent mindidly answers "I guess I kind of am a cat" "I always thought I was more of a dog." Peter says as he hands Natasha her black coffee.
Natasha and raven smirked at eachother to the point where even Charles could hear their evil thoughts. "COME ON!! NO!! WE WILL LOOK LIKE IDIOTS!" He practically screeched as he read their minds. They chuckled evily as both tony and Peter became startled at charles' outburst. "what?!? What are they planning!" tony said as he looked at a pale Charles. "you remember how you used to be super obsessed with captain america?"Charles says slowly turning to tony. Tony's face becomes as red as a tomato, his hackles raising as he hisses "I TOLD YOU TO NEVER MENTION IT AGAIN!" Charles proceeds to hiss back "DO YOU OR DO YOU NOT STILL HAVE THAT CAPTAIN AMERICA BARISTA APERON!?!?" Tony blinks but nods slowly "y-yeah?what about-" then tony becomes white as a sheet and screeches at natasha. "OH NO! NO NO NO NO NO! THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL! I JUST BOUGHT THAT ON A BINGE OF WATCHING THE OLD CAPTAIN AMERICA CARTOONS! THAT'S NOT MEANT TO-" a shiver runs down tony's spine as he feels Natasha slowly turn to him. It's like he's already being stabbed in the back with a knife. Peter looks at his white faced friends then smirks "and whos going to make me and charles' one?" Charles snaps out of it and nods standing with Peter thinking they have got this. Then raven walks towards them menacingly as she reaches into Peters pocket and pulls out his phone. She scrolls thorough the contacts until she comes up to the name she's looking for. She taps it and as it rings the boys still look smug. Until a familiar voice rings across the room. "hello?" Mary Jane says through the speaker. "yo mj it's ya girl raven!" raven says looking Peter straight in the eye. "oh! Raven!! It's so good to hear from you!" mj answers happily. "yeah I know it's been forever, can you do me a favor beautiful?" raven says as the color drains off charles' and Peters face. "of course anything for you, you big blue whore." mj says as Peters eyes widen having never heard his best friend say such words. " these boys are starting a café and they need their" boyfriends" symbols to show who their hearts go out to think you can sow them a few up?" raven smirks wider looking at her. Nails nonechelontly. "of course blue girl I got you!". Mj replies with amusement in her voice. "thanks red spider I'll see you later.". Raven says as she hangs up the phone. Natasha smirks and sips her black coffee walking out the door. "then it's all set see you boys tommarow with your new aperons." Natasha and raven wave as all three boys just stand there regretting befriending these evil wemon. "why did we have to be gay?" tony groans into his arms as he shields himself from the world on the counter.
"Alright, does everyone have the confidence to go today?" Steve asked with his hands on his hips looking around the room. Erik was using his magnetic powers to create something out of metal while wade was pacing the floor. Wade looked up and smiled. " nope! I never have any confidence im a fucking wreck but let's do this anyways!" he said running his fingers through his blonde hair. Steve was confused wether or not they should go. Honestly, no matter how long he had been friends with wade he would never understand him. Wade looked around and smiled wider as he said "guys it's just dark humor!" both Erik and Steve sighed in relief. Even though wade was a little crazy they loved him to death. He was one of them for sure. "shouldn't we be going?" Erik said Gruffley as he stood up. Wade and Steve looked at eachother nodding as Erik walked out. Steve pouted whispering to wade as they followed him "I thought I was the leader" wade just shrugged honestly not caring. The closer and closer to the café the boys got the more they felt their hearts race. "wait!" wade said making them stop a few feet infront of the cafe. "Didn't raven and Natasha set this up?" wade asked as realization flooded Steve and erik's beings. Steve's look transformed into a look of battle. "we have to be ready!! We don't know how they look behind that door." Steve said in his captain America voice. "what if they look hella cute!?!" wade gasped as he cupped his face eyes wide. "WHAT IF WE CAN'T HANDLE IT?!?" Erik practically howled in fear. Steve gulped as he thought of how cute his Tony could look behind that door. "that's a risk we will have to take!" Steve said as he began walking again. Wade and Erik looked at eachother the went after steve. Steve slowly reached for the handle of the door and pushed it open. They all stepped into the cafe. Silence, well silence except for the bell above the door ringing and the sound of six hearts beating rappidly.
Tony, Charles and Peter were all hidden in the back room. "what do we do?!?" tony hissed as quiet as possible to Charles. "I-i don't know!" Charles stuttered as he could feel Erik's mind close to him. "Is anybody here?" Steve asked nicely to the empty room. "fuck fuck fuck!" tony almost screeched while he put a hand on his beating heart. "BE STILL!" He hissed to his heart. he was sure the other could hear it. Charles looked worriedly out the back doors window. "we can't just be rude and not come out!"Charles said looking at Peter and tony scornfully. Tony smirked evily as an idea popped in his head. Charles heard the idea and quickly waited for it to happen. Tony pushed Charles as Charles grabbed onto him. Tony and Charles stumbled out of the room groaning. The brawny blondes looked over the table to see who it was. Tony and Charles stood up dusting some dirt off of their barista aperons. "bloody hell that was a horrible idea!" Charles said with a hiss. " I realize that now, Charlie!" tony hissed back. Wade looked at the two as they kept hissing at eachother and trying to be taller than the other. "their like a bunch of cats." wade said as he looked over to the love sick puppy's Whose butts we're Of course wiggling at the sight of their beloved's. Charles and tony growled at eachother until Peter finally gave up and just came out. "STOP IT!" He growled back in the middle of the two boys. Charles hissed at tony then walked up to the counter as he fixed his hair. "what would you like to drink today?" Charles said with a sweet smile. "I'd like to know what your all wearing today!"wade said with a childish smile. All three of the boys blushed and looked down. "and where can I buy me some!excpecially caps abs! Tony where did you even get that?" wade asked jumping up and down. Tony ducked his head and blushed even deeper as he mumbled "it's limited edition you can't buy it." "yeah!" Peter said his face still flushed. "mj made these" Charles said pulling on his magneto barista aperon.
Erik slapped Steve's arm without looking away from Charles who was taking wades order. "Steeb! Steeb! Steeb! Remember what I said earlier?" Erik said lightly smacking Steve's arm. Steve's butt was wiggling as he took in his flushed tony wearing his barista aperon. Tony glared, smacking his hands on the counter. "AYE! You gotta order something! Comprende?!?"tony said with a glare. Steve looked at Erik for an idea of what to get. "just black coffee for us." Erik said with a somewhat smile. "y-yeah!"stuttered steve. "black as my soul!" he cried dramatically. Tony looked at him unimpressed "so" he started with a smirk. "lots of sugar in it and vanilla creamer?" "yes please" Steve said as he hung his head in shame. Tony chuckled cutely then quickly went over to make it. Charles, tony and Peter were like Balerinas behind the counter. Graceful, fluid, and never touching eachother but crossing paths. They were defiantly in their zone, and considering how much coffee the 3 brunettes drank it was honestly. No surprise. "I can't deal!". Both Steve and Erik whispered as tony and Charles dodged eachother gracefully. Tony leaned over the counter to give Steve his cofee. "here you go red white and blue" tony said with a wink. "enjoy!"Charles said as he handed Erik his with a sweet smile. Erik quickly sipped it to hide his blush and made his way to one of the café's tables. He ended up getting back up to drag Steve away because he would not stop staring at tony.
Peter gave wade his coffee with a soft smile then went back to conversing with freinds. "I wonder why their wearing our symbols"asked wade looking to his blushing freinds. "I mean it looks cute on Peter so much I'd like to squeeze myself into that tight ass or he can squeeze me to death with those thighs of his"wade drooled and practically moaned. "you know tony said that his aperon was one of a kind I wonder why that is?" Erik said looking at Steve who was still staring at tony, his butt still wiggling in the seat. "dunno, don't care, it looks fuckin' beautiful on him though"Steve said with Brooklyn twang and a dreamy sigh.
Abnegate
Fandom: Marvel
Pairings: Tony Stark/Bucky Barnes, Steve Rogers/Tony Stark/Bucky Barnes
Warnings: None
Tony loved being Iron Man. Hell, he was Iron Man, in a way that went beyond the fact of: Tony Stark is the person piloting the Iron Man armor. He never thought that he would ever give it up for any length of time, but here he was, retiring Iron Man, and all for a guy. He fell in love and got married. They were coming up on their first anniversary as a married couple, and he just couldn't keep up the lie anymore. He'd thought about telling Bucky-- of course he had-- but his identity was secret for a reason. Most of that reason was something he'd signed for Shield back when he'd gotten back from the whole ordeal with Stane. Usually that was something he gave fuck all about, but then he thought of Pepper. One of his best friends, and someone that he had thought was already prepared for him as Iron Man given what she'd had to deal with as Tony Stark's assistant. But he'd told her, and it had gotten her killed, so never again. It left him with three facts, two of which he couldn't change. 1. He was in love with Bucky. 2. He was Iron Man. 3. He was lying to Bucky on a weekly basis, making up stories for how he was hurting himself, and not being able to give reasons for why he was blowing off dates all the time. He was lying, and there were too many secrets between them. It was affecting their marriage, and Tony knew it. Bucky had yet to say anything, but he shouldn't have to; Tony knew it was coming between them. All of that left him with the choice of retiring Iron Man. He hated doing it, but he loved Bucky more. So he went into Shield and signed the paperwork. Fury was too well trained to show surprise, but he did try to talk Tony out of it, and that was the closest to an admission that Fury wanted him to stay on the team as he was going to get. "I'm doing one more trip in it," Tony told him. "Stark..." "It's not what you think. I'm just going to say goodbye to Cap." And the team, but it was mostly Cap that needed a proper goodbye from him. Fury paused, then nodded. "See if you can talk some sense into him, will you?" Tony snorted. "Just because I'm retiring doesn't mean that I'm suddenly on your side. I'm saying goodbye to my friend, not doing your dirty work." "Since when is talking to Captain America dirty work?" Fury asked him as he walked out the door. He shook his head. Stark would be back; he couldn't leave for good, no matter how much he might think he wants to. He put the paperwork through anyways. Once an Avenger, always an Avenger-- he just wasn't on the call list right now.
Tony went to the Tower to suit up and flew over to Avenger Mansion. He used to live there-- both as Iron Man and Tony Stark-- but when he and Bucky moved in together, he started living at Stark Tower. It was easier to keep up with his secret identity that way, and the Mansion got attacked more often anyways; the Tower was safer for Bucky. He landed in front of the main door, and Jarvis opened the door for him rather than risk the armor accidentally crushing the doorknob (again). Jan perked up when she saw him, a garment bag in her arms. "Iron Man! What are you doing here? I thought you were being incognito today?" "Mister Stark's got someone else watching him right now. Do you know where Cap is?" "Gym with Winter, I think. Why?" He shrugged. "Just need to talk to him about something. What's...?" He gestured to the slip. "Dress for Tony's gala this weekend, I'm sure you'll see it then," she said with a wink. "Have fun with the super twins!" Tony chuckled and made his way to the gym, wondering how difficult Winter was going to make this on him. He didn't like Cap and Iron Man's friendship, and he insisted it wasn't jealousy, but that's always what Cap told him when they got alone. He saw them sparring on the mats and knocked an armored finger against the door frame to let them know he was there. Cap saw him and beamed, and Winter rolled his eyes, shoving Cap off of him. He didn't care, standing up and walking over. "Hey Iron Man, I didn't think you were going to be around today." "Yeah, little change of plans, I needed to talk to you about something." "Of course," he said, looking at him earnestly even with his workout mask covering pieces of his face. "Uh, alone," he said, glancing over at Winter, who was still sitting on the mats. Winter glared at him. "What do you need to tell him so privately?" "Winter," Cap reprimanded. He rolled his eyes again. "Fine, guess I'll hit the showers." They both waited for the door to shut behind him before turning back to each other. "So?" Cap said, back to happy. "I'm- uh, retiring." His smile froze on his face, and he tried to capture a little hope. "Oh taking another break? Yeah, you've been busy lately, don't worry about it. We'll see you around, yeah?" "Cap. I'm not... taking a break. I'm leaving the Avengers. Permanently." It felt like kicking a puppy that was also his best friend. The smile was wiped off his face like it had never been there. "Wh- is there something wrong? If Mister Stark needs more security, we can take up shifts until he figures it out." Tony shook his head. "I'm not going back to being his bodyguard. I'm giving up the armor." Cap swallowed thickly, crossing his arms over his chest. "Is... is someone replacing you?" "No. Well," he gave a harsh laugh that didn't have an ounce of humor in it, "maybe someday. But not anytime soon." "Is there anything I can say that would convince you to stay?" "I already signed the paperwork," he said gently. The armor didn't really translate gentle, but Cap had known him for years like this and he understood what Tony was aiming for. "I just came to say goodbye." "Okay," Cap said, and Tony could see him calculating. "Do I- do we get to see you still? Will you drop by to visit?" "Don't do this Cap. If you see me, you're just going to want me back, and you're going to expect me in battles where I'm not going to be." "I won't," he said desperately. "I won't do that Shellhead, please. Don't just leave me entirely. You're my best friend, you- you got me through waking up in this century, I can't lose you." Tony put a hand on his shoulder. "You'll be fine Winghead. You always have been." Cap clenched his jaw. "Fine, we don't get to see you in the armor. What about..." he visibly gathered his courage and looked straight into the eye slits like he could see straight through them. "Would you go on a date with me? I was thinking pizza. You always said that you loved pizza, but you could never have it with the team because of the helmet." Tony blinked in surprise. "A date?" He nodded decisively, chin jutted out, and Tony got the sudden vision of how he must have looked before the serum-- earnest but not self-confident, taking risks and putting himself out there every day. "I... you mean a lot to me, Shellhead. I've been wanting to do this since five months after we met." Tony's heart sank lower and lower, falling to his shoes. Cap was in love with him. He didn't say the words, but it was obvious-- how had he never seen this before? Iron Man's hand fell from his shoulder and laid limply at his side. "I'm sorry," he croaked. "If it's your identity, you know I won't tell anyone." "It's not-" Tony shook his head. "I'm married." Cap's face tightened in pain, and he hunched over like he did in fights when he was expecting a blow. Only this one was emotional, and he didn't have the shield to protect him. "Oh," he managed. His arms tightened across his chest, and Tony recognized the feeling of wanting to rub at your heart when it hurt. "I'm so sorry," he said, because that was all he could do. Cap shook his head vigorously, but not enough to hide the tears welling up in his eyes. "I- I should've--" he cut himself off, shaking his head again. He pulled himself together enough to give him a tremulous smile. "I'll miss you Shellhead. Have a good retirement, yeah? And- if you ever--" he stopped himself again, trying to shake the thought out of his mind. And if you ever find yourself single, maybe look me up. "Have a good retirement," he repeated. ~~~ After everything with Cap, Tony felt like dirt, but he still managed to say goodbye to the others. Like with Cap, they asked if they were going to still see him, but after he said that he'd already talked to Cap about it, they didn't bother pressing the point; if Cap couldn't convince him to stay, none of them would be able to. He went back to the Tower but didn't get any work done, opting to be miserable on the couch rather than miserable in the workshop. When Bucky got back from the fire station that day, both of them were feeling low. He slumped next to Tony on the couch. "How was your day?" "Awful. Had to fire someone," he lied, and he hoped to god that this was one of the last lies he would have to tell him. Bucky made a noise of sympathy and leaned over to kiss his cheek. "'m sorry. If it helps, my day wasn't much better." "I know they say misery loves company, but I'm not really happy that your day sucked too. What happened?" Bucky glared at the wall. "The fella Stevie was sweet on is seein' someone else. Can you believe that? Been stringin' him along for years, and he's living with someone." He shook his head, reaching back to untie his hair. "I told him that guy was no good for 'im." "You did," Tony agreed. For as long as Tony had known him, Steve was pining over someone, and Bucky was telling him that it wasn't going to go anywhere. Tony didn't know the guy obviously, but the way Bucky told it, it was hopeless to think he and Steve would ever get together-- looks like he was right. "How's he holding up?" "Not good," Bucky said with a grimace. "He thought this guy was the one, y'know?" Tony winced. "That's rough." "Yeah. I'm sorry honey, I know we had plans tonight, but-" Tony was already shaking his head. "It's fine. Go get him roaring drunk; it's the first step to moving on." "Is that what they tell you at your AA meetings?" "Well I'm not the one with a broken heart, am I? Besides, Steve hardly drinks, that might be what he needs right now." "If you say so." "What was your plan then?" "Junk food and rom coms." Tony made a face. "I don't want to trash your methods, but watching movies where people always end up together? That seems a little questionable." "Mm," Bucky shook his head. "We're watching He's Just Not That Into You, so it gives him the full spectrum." Tony laughed. "Sounds like fun, I wish I could come along. I'll just be sitting here pining for you." "Not going to get any work done?" Bucky asked, sounding surprised since that was usually what Tony did when Bucky had evening plans with someone else. He shrugged one shoulder. He really should start packing up all the suits, but designing anything would be far from possible right now. "I might. Guess we'll see." Bucky chuckled and gave his cheek another kiss, nuzzling until Tony turned to face him. He kissed him slowly, savoring the way he tasted. "I'll make it up to you," he whispered against Tony's lips. This was par for the course when one of them canceled a date, to the point that even if they didn't say it, they still did something special later on. "Don't worry about it," Tony said, knowing full well that Bucky was going to do something anyways-- again, it was what they did. Bucky hummed, rubbing their noses together before pulling away. "I'm gonna go change, but I'll see you tonight? Hopefully not too late." "Yep." Tony snagged another kiss. "Have fun-- or as much fun as you can have while mending a broken heart." Bucky grinned at him, and Tony's heart skipped a beat. "Will do, doll." He kissed him again before getting up to go change, and Tony watched his backside as he walked away. God, he loved him. Every day he thought he couldn't love him any more than he already did, and every day he was proven wrong. He waited for Bucky to leave for Steve's before heading to the workshop. He stood in front of the panel that hid the Iron Man suits and took a deep breath. This was ridiculous, right? They were just circuits and metal strung together, and he wasn't even destroying them. He was just... packing them up. Putting them in boxes and hiding them away so he wouldn't be tempted to use them. He only managed to get the Mark Three down before stopping. He went to the 'shop and worked on an upgrade for Cap. The poor man deserved something nice after the Iron Man... incident. He didn't get very far before saving what little progress he'd made, and he went back to the suits. The Mark Three had already been carried off by DUM-E, so he started on the Mark Four. He turned on music, so loud he couldn't hear himself think, and worked on packing up the rest of them. If he didn't think about it, it was like he was moving back to Malibu, not retiring completely. By the time Bucky got home, Tony had packed everything up and was looking at a few documents Val (his new assistant) had sent him. Guess he was going to be doing a lot more of this, now that he wasn't trying to keep up with two people's lives. Just the one. He sighed. If he could have Bucky and be Iron Man, that would of course be preferable. He shook his head to get rid of the thought and accepted Bucky's welcome home kiss. He smelled like vodka, but he didn't look the least bit tipsy. Maybe Steve had gone off and gotten wasted like Tony suggested. "How's Steve doing?" "Pretty miserable. He's still convinced this guy is the love of his life." "Didn't you talk some sense into him?" "I tried, but Steve said that I never liked him so what I think doesn't matter." Tony's eyes went wide. "Well then." "You'd be able to work it out," Bucky said, sounding strangely certain of that even though Tony and Steve didn't get along very well. Tony shrugged it off because Bucky said weird shit like that all the time. He leaned in to give Tony a longer kiss, but he shied away. "No offense babe, but you stink." Bucky's look of confusion turned to understanding, and he nodded, giving Tony some space and getting off the couch. "Yeah Steve sort of... threw a drink on me." "What? What for?" "Love of his life, remember?" "Mm." "Yeah. I'm gonna take a shower." "What happened to movie night?" Bucky made a face. "The punk wanted to take your advice, and Natasha sure as fuck wasn't helping. You should've seen the bartender's face when Steve tossed his drink at me though-- thought he was gonna have us beating the shit outta each other in his place." Tony laughed, able to visualize the terror the poor man must have felt; Steve and Bucky were both built-- if they wanted to destroy a place, they could do it. "I'm sure he was very happy when you didn't." "Darlin', you have no idea." He winked at Tony and made for the shower. He'd been hoping for some quality time since Tony was still up, but if he smelled like a distillery? Yeah, not happening, and he couldn't even be mad about it.
Two Weeks Later Of all the things Tony expected from his life, being bored was not one of them. Being Iron Man had kept him busy-- too busy, honestly. He'd had to shirk duties that both Iron Man and Tony Stark should be doing to make time for both identities. Even before Iron Man he'd been busy, but now it was less than he was expecting. He got used to running everywhere, never having a moment to sit down and rest unless he scheduled it, and now he had his usual meetings, the usual paperwork, and the usual projects to work on, with an average of five more hours a day to do it all. He also wasn't designing new Iron Man suits, so that was a weekly project that he no longer had to spend time on. He didn't have to cancel dates anymore because there was never an emergency that wasn't preemptively dealt with because of all his free time. The main problem with all of this? He was starting to get suspicious of Bucky, and he hated it in a visceral way that felt like it was clawing from the depths of his soul. Bucky wasn't doing anything unusual even. He still canceled dates occasionally, still told stories about down time with his friends, but something about it all rubbed Tony the wrong way. What kind of firefighter got calls at eleven at night on a regular basis? They had night shifts for a reason, and Tony never saw anything about big fires that would require the extra help. He found excuses for this or that, but there was one thing he couldn't explain away-- Bucky's injuries. Bruises? Fine, not ideal, but normal. But cuts? Sometimes it looked like someone tried to make him a human shish-ka-bob, and a week later he was perfectly fine. He hated himself for even getting that far in his suspicion. He was getting paranoid, looking for trouble where there was none, and it ate at him. Bucky loved him, and Tony loved him. They'd been married for almost a year, and here he was jumping at shadows. He worked on planning their anniversary, trying to make it perfect to alleviate his guilt. It didn't really work, and Bucky was starting to get concerned, coaxing him to bed more often than not. Bucky mostly felt like his life was crumbling in the foundation. Steve was still mad at him for saying Iron Man was a dick, and Natasha was too, for some reason. Tony was acting different, and as much as his anxiety tried to pin all the blame on his own behavior, it felt deeper than that. Bucky hadn't changed anything about how he acted, but all of a sudden Tony was distant and his mind was wandering-- and neither of them in way that Bucky had seen before. He did his best to just let Tony know that he was there for him and that he still loved him, but it didn't seem to be doing anything. It wasn't a big change mind, but they'd been living together for a year and a half-- he knew Tony. So he got Steve to get him a day off of Avenger activity no matter what happened, and he called Val to clear a day in Tony's schedule. The alarm by their bed went off, and Tony turned it off, swinging his legs off the bed and waiting for his body to boot up. Bucky wrapped an arm around his waist and tugged him back on the bed, careful to watch his strength so Tony didn't get suspicious. He kissed his back, but when Tony spoke he only sounded tired. "I have a meeting this morning." Bucky tried not to let his disinterest discourage him. "No you don't. I called Val, got Sam to cover my shift, and said no way are we leaving the floor today." He sat up and hugged Tony to his chest, kissing softly along his neck. But Tony wasn't relaxing. He loosened his grip and leaned back a little to give him space. "Uh. Is somethin' wrong sweetheart?" "Just not in the mood." That was plausible, but it felt like a lie. Bucky sat beside him, and Tony moved his leg away when it touched him. He tried to be discreet about it, but Bucky noticed-- would have done even if he wasn't enhanced. He swallowed thickly, trying to tamp down on the hurt. A voice in the back of his mind started screaming that this was the end for them, but he shoved it back. Couples had bumps in the road sometimes, that's just how relationships worked. "What's goin' on with you recently?" he asked softly. "Did somethin’ happen?" Tony took a deep breath and rubbed at his eyes. He was about to answer when an explosion rattled the floor. "What the-" Suddenly, the wall blew in, and Bucky was tackling him to the floor. "Shit," Bucky bit out. He scrambled for his backpack sitting by the nightstand, getting his gun in hand just in time to see the approaching figures in black and shooting at them. How was he going to explain this? They got out of the open space and behind the wall, but before he could grab Tony and find somewhere to get them away, Tony was pulling on his arm, typing something into his phone rapid fire and opening a panel in their wall. It sealed shut, leaving them in the brightly lit elevator with all sound and destruction cut off. "This feels like a Mr. and Mrs. Smith moment," Tony said mildly, but his eyes were wide and his grip on his phone left his knuckles whitened. "Because we're in an elevator?" "And you have a gun. Why do you have a gun in your work bag?" "Tony, I can explain later but right now--" Tony raised his voice and talked over him. "I guess it's the same reason the skin on your left arm is shredded and there's metal underneath. Right?" There was only one person that had an arm like that, and the Winter Soldier wasn’t very fond of Tony. Bucky glanced down, and sure enough, the synthetic skin he used to cover his prosthetic was ripped in places. He'd been closer to the explosion so it made sense, but he hadn't even noticed. He was usually better about hiding this, but then again they usually weren't attacked in their fucking home. "Can we talk about it later?" he said quietly, peeling the synthetic skin off entirely. "There are kind of people trying to kill us right now." "I texted Fury, we should be fine. In the meantime I need to reboot Jarvis." "Is that where we're going?" "Yep." "I won't be any help there. If you let me off, I could-" "Nope." "What? Tony I should help." "Consider this your punishment," he said, and the doors opened to a circuit room he'd never seen before. "What?" he said again. "Punishment for what?" As soon as he said it, he realized the answer what the answer would be: lying. "Tony, I wasn’t allowed to tell you. None of us are." "The rest of them aren't married," Tony said, walking further into the room. He wasn’t actually mad at Bucky-- couldn’t be because it would be so fucking hypocritical. He was doing something, but fuck if Bucky knew what it was. He stood at the edges of the room to stay out of the way, shifting awkwardly. "You know that for sure?" "I know that two of them are married, and it's to each other so the secret identities schtick doesn't apply to them." Bucky frowned in confusion. "Iron Man's not married to another Avenger." "What?" Tony looked back, mirroring Bucky's expression. "But he told-" Bucky cut himself off before he could say 'Steve' or 'Cap'. "I'm so fuckin' confused." Tony's phone rang, and he put it on speakerphone and set it on top of one of the bases to continue what he was doing. "Hey Nicky, how's the view from out there?" "You'd have to ask Cap. Where's that husband of yours? He's unaccounted for." "He's with me," Tony said absently, his mind whirring as soon as Fury mentioned Captain America. "And where are you?" "Nice try Santa Claus." "At any rate, hostiles are clear, and you're free to go back and see if you recognize them." "Will do." He reached up and ended the call, face pale. He looked at Bucky, finally awake enough to realize everything it meant that Bucky was the Winter Soldier. The Winter Soldier fucking hated Iron Man, and he was Iron Man, therefore... Not to mention that the Winter Soldier was from the past, same as Captain America, and if that was Bucky, that meant Steve was Captain America. Steve liked Tony, Tony didn't like him, and that made Bucky hate him a couple times over. What a goddamn mess. He started laughing; this could only happen to him. Bucky walked over to him, concerned. "Tony? Are you okay?" He tried to talk past his laughter, and only managed, "If he's- then that means- and he got turned down so you hate-" before he broke down into hysterical giggles. He finally tapered off, wiping at his eyes. "Oh wow. If this wasn't so sad, this would be the funniest thing to ever happen to me." He messed around with a few more wires, and everything whirred to life. "Jarvis, buddy? You there?" "I appear to have taken a nap, sir. My apologies." He paused, running a quick diagnostic. "The issue has been found. It won't happen again, sir." "Just so long as you're alright, Jay. Did you know that I'm apparently married to the Winter Soldier?" "I did indeed, sir." "If you knew, then why didn't you tell him?" Bucky asked. "Privacy is one of his primary protocols, along with keeping me safe. And you, once you moved in." "So... he knows the identities of the other Avengers?" "I do, but sir has no need to know, so their identities have remained private." "Not that it would be hard to guess now that I know who you are," he muttered, giving a final pat to one of the towers. He pocketed his phone and went back to the elevator. "Jay, tell them we're headed up." "...Are you okay?" Tony gave him a strange look. "Yeah, I'm fine. Why?" He shrugged awkwardly. "Well with this and whatever else was botherin' you, I'm surprised you're not mad at me. It's a pretty big secret." "Yeah. Hypocritical though." "What do you mean?" "Captain America is Steve, right? And you hate Iron Man for turning him down?" Bucky's face darkened. "I know he's your bodyguard and you trust him an' all, but he's a bastard." "Cap tell you what he said?" He made a noise of disgust. "Said he's married. Who does that?" "We're married." "That's not the same, we love each other." "And you think Iron Man doesn't love his husband." "I think that if he loved him, he wouldn't've been flirtin' with Steve." "Huh." Tony chewed on his lip. "I don't suppose you would believe that he didn't know it was flirting?" "What? How could Iron Man not know?" "He's an idiot sometimes." "What are you talking about?" Tony looked at Bucky with an eyebrow raised. Then, he raised one hand and pointed at himself with the other. "I'm an idiot sometimes." "Tony..." "Do you really think I'd give my suit to someone else?" They reached the penthouse, but Jarvis kept the doors closed. "What the- what th' hell are you talking about Tony?" "I'm Iron Man," he said plainly. "And in my defense, Cap really was my best friend and nothing else. Yeah we flirted every once in a while, but I had no reason to believe he'd think it was serious. Also? I didn't think my husband was the Winter Soldier and fucking hated me. Like you said earlier, right? It 'had to be kept a secret'. And you know what?" he added when Bucky started to look angry. "I thought you were a firefighter, but you knew I was Tony Stark. You knew I was already involved with the Avengers, and you didn't tell me. So if anyone gets to be upset here? It's me." Not that he was, really, but it was the principle of the matter. Bucky's jaw was clenched tight, and he wasn't looking Tony. He shook his head in jerky movements, and he stepped forward to knock on the door with his metal hand. "Jarvis open up." He hesitated for the barest of moments before complying with Bucky's request (order, more like), but it probably wasn't long enough for anyone but Tony to notice. Jan turned to them with a smile, but it froze in place when she saw Bucky. Because she was a bonafide lady, she ignored his expression and the fact that his arm was out so Tony clearly knew about his identity. And since she knew Tony and everyone involved with the Avengers knew her identity, she was the one to talk to him right now-- comfort when his home was attacked, he guessed. "Hey Tony." "Hey Jan," he said tiredly. He glanced at Bucky, who had leaned against a wall and was now scowling at nothing. Now that Bucky and Cap were in the same room, it was pretty obvious that something was going on there. Knowing that it was Steve under the cowl, made it both better and worse. Better because Steve was Bucky's friend, and he was clearly concerned about him. Worse because this was Bucky's best friend who had told Tony as Iron Man that he loved him two weeks ago. "Do we know who it was?" he asked, looking around at the mess that was his penthouse. She grimaced, pulling her mask up and resituating her ponytail. "We put them through the system, and some of them are AIM." "But?" he prompted. "They don't really look like AIM, Tony." "What, no beekeeper outfits?" "Actual armor, fully outfitted." He frowned. "I know," she said, giving a helpless shrug. "We think they teamed up with someone." "Killian’s idea?" "Looks like it. The guy either loves you or hates you Tony. Either way, he's obsessed. I would guess that since his past attempts at getting your attention weren't working, he decided to switch it up." "He's not exactly nice at playing with others. If it's an alliance, it's not going to last." "Especially after this failed so miserably." She made a face and looked at the shattered glass and blasted down walls. "Sorry about your building." "It's only this right? No casualties or other damages?" "Correct," Cap jumped in to say. "The thing is Mister Stark, they've never been able to get this close to you before. I think you should consider moving back to the Mansion, at least temporarily." "It would be safer," Jan added. "Plus it'll be fun! Just like the old days." She moved beside Tony and slung an arm around his shoulders. "Cocktails, virgin of course, and talking clothes-- this lot is useless and has no taste-- ooo and painting our nails! Hank is atrocious at it. I love him dearly, but it looked like I'd stuck my fingertips in a can of paint." Tony laughed, and it sounded a little forced, but Jan just smiled encouragingly. "Yeah that'd be fun. I'm good with moving back for a bit. Bucky?" "What," he said flatly. Tony blinked. "Uh. Moving to the Mansion for a bit? Just while this place is being rebuilt." "Fine." "Great. I'll uh, grab some stuff." He started to walk forward, but Jan picked him up. "Jan!" "What?" she said innocently. "There's glass Tony, and you're only human." He glared at her, but she just hummed to herself and brought him into their room. "Have I told you lately that you're ridiculous?" "No, but maybe that's because you stopped being around when Iron Man left." A small part of that was that he wasn't there to be seem before and after suiting up, but most of it was avoiding Cap. He just... didn't know what to say to him. It was one of the only pros to not being Iron Man, and even that was gone now that he knew Steve was Captain fucking America. He couldn't avoid his husband's best friend, but then again maybe that wouldn't be a problem soon, if the way Bucky was shutting him out was any indication. He grabbed a duffle from the back of the closet and started throwing clothes in. He couldn't take any suits obviously, but Val would understand him having to cancel meetings-- and with his good behavior the last two weeks, she probably wouldn't even make a comment on how this attack was awfully convenient for getting him out of them. While he was at it, he pulled on some clothes for the day. He was about to ask Bucky if he wanted him to pack for him, but he and Cap/Steve looked to be having a whispered argument. An intense one that would probably have them shouting if they were alone. ~~~ Steve stood at his side, far enough away to keep appearances, and Bucky rolled his eyes. Now that Tony knew who he was, everyone in the penthouse was aware of everyone's identities. Except for the other Avengers knowing Iron Man was Tony; they didn't know that part, but what did it matter? Iron Man was retired. "Hey," Steve said in an undertone, "is everything okay?" He knew the attack was worrisome, but Tony looked to be fine. As far as he could tell, there was nothing to put Bucky in this foul of a mood. "Tony knows." "Shit." Steve glanced at Tony, who was in their room packing up some clothes, but he looked fine. "Is he mad?" "Nope. You know why?" Bucky looked straight into Steve's eyes, and it hit him that Bucky wasn't mad at Tony-- he was mad at Steve. "Cause he's Iron Man." Steve's stomach dropped, and he paled at a rate that would have been funny in a less serious situation. "What? He- there's no way." "Yeah cause I always joke about shit like this Rogers," he snarled. "Oh my god, Buck, I'm so sorry I swear I had no idea," Steve whispered back. "Had no idea that you want to fuck my husband? Yeah I'm so sure." He was glaring at Steve, hurt covered up by anger. "Well don't worry. In a month, we'll be divorced and you won't have to fuckin' worry anymore." "What? Divorce? Is he- Bucky is he dumping you?" "No," Bucky growled, jabbing a metal finger hard against Steve's chest (not that it mattered much through his armor), "but as soon as we have a minute alone, I'm tellin' him." "But why? You love him so much, it's not like you weren't keeping a secret of your own. I'm sure you can get past this if you try," Steve said desperately. Tony being Iron Man was god damn heartbreaking because he knew now that he really didn't stand a chance, but it was obvious how much they loved each other and separating over something like this would only stand to hurt them. "It's not about that," Bucky said, getting in Steve's face. "As soon as you told him that you fuckin' love him, he got distant. We haven't had sex since then, and this mornin' before the attack, I told him that we had the whole day together and he was tryin' to figure out how to leave. I convinced him t' talk, y'know? Right before they blew up the damn wall, and he was about to let me down easy. So don't try 'nd tell me that everything's just fine between us, cause it's not. He likes you, and I'm gonna be that stupid ex that you had to work past to get together." He clenched his jaw, looking for all the world like he wanted to haul off and punch Steve in the face. "I'm not gonna stick around to watch it happen. Neither of you need me, and the team sure as hell doesn't need the Winter Soldier." "What?" Steve whispered back harshly, starting to get angry himself. It was more reactionary than something he thought he should be feeling, but it was there all the same, bubbling in him like poison. "What the hell are you talking about? I'm not going to get with your fucking husband, what the hell kind of person do you think I am? Don't go putting words in my mouth punk, you don't get to speak for me, and I'm not going to date your husband." "Yeah," Bucky scoffed, "call me up in five years and tell me how that worked out for you."
Nat cleared her throat loudly, coughing into her hand to get them to break it up. She gave a pointed look to Tony, who was watching them with worry etched into his face and his hands tight around a duffle.
Bucky swallowed thickly and took a step back, not looking at Steve or Tony. This was going to be so goddamn miserable. Five Years Later They finished yet another battle against a batch of Doombots. "This diplomatic immunity thing is bullshit," Bucky said, slowly stretching his arm to test how his shoulder was doing. "It should apply to honest mistakes and cultural differences, not tryin' to take over the fucking country." "I vote we kill Doom and save our future selves the trouble," Clint said. "No," Steve said firmly, even using his Captain America voice. "We aren't killing him, that would only start a war and get you thrown in jail." "Yeah Clint," Tony chimed in. "You gotta start thinking like a hero, now that you're one of us. Any time we kill someone, it is entirely by accident, and then we have to spend the next month doing all sorts of bullshit PR to remind the public we're saving their collective asses." "That's easy for you to say," he grumbled. "Is it?" "You're getting laid on a daily basis by two super soldiers, Stark. You're doing what I'm doing, only with lots of hot sex in the down time." "He doesn't have as much down time as you're thinkin'," Bucky said. "Mostly it's me and Stevie waitin' for him to pry himself away from his toys. Everyone's on the quinjet, right?" He waited until he got various confirmations, and a reminder from Tony that he was going to fly to the Tower so they didn't need to wait for him. Natasha hummed, crawling into the copilot's chair. "Exactly what kind of waiting are we talking about here, Bucky? Please, tell us in as much detail as possible." "Don't be afraid to embellish, if you need," Clint added, strapping himself into a seat even though it wasn't necessary for the short trip-- he had some quirks, that was fine, none of them asked unless it worried them because if it made him feel better, then why bother him? "Or combine stories, really. It's your story, Bucky, you need to make sure we're entertained." "Not a word, Buck," Steve warned. "Ooo is that things work?" Jan teased. Tony laughed, but Steve just sighed. "I thought we all agreed not to talk about our sex life with the team?" "I wasn't exactly level headed at the time I agreed," Tony said. "I think in a court of law, I would be freed from this contract. Bucky too." "He's right, Steve. It's not fair to be negotiatin' while you've got someone's dick in your hand." Steve thumped his head into the wall behind him. "I hate both of you." "Aw I love you too honey," Tony said, pitching his voice overly sweet. They traded banter back and forth for the short ride back to the Tower, and Tony slid out of the suit on the landing pad. Jarvis picked it off of him and brought it back down to the 'shop for a few touch-up's-- not upgrades, just redoing the paint, honestly; it chipped in almost every fight, either because something sharp was hitting him, or because he was being thrown into buildings or the pavement (giant squid monsters were not friendly, he had learned). Bucky and Tony whisked Steve away after the debriefing, which had fortunately been very short due to how routine the fight had been. "Do you wanna tell 'im?" Bucky asked Tony. Tony frowned. "I thought we were doing this together?" "Well of course we're doin' it together, but we can't just talk at th' same time and hope it works." Steve cleared his throat loud and pointedly, making both of them turn to him in surprise, like they'd forgotten he was there and could hear them. "Should I be worried?" "No," they both immediately. "It's good," Bucky insisted. "Probably long overdue, if we're being honest." It had been five years since the penthouse had been partially destroyed, and Bucky had tried to leave the Avengers, Steve, and Tony. It had taken a couple days for Tony to figure out what the fuck was going on and work on fixing it, and while it had ultimately been a long process, it was still only six months before they brought Steve into their relationship. Four and half years of dating and being in love, and they hadn't done this yet when it only took Tony and Bucky a year to get engaged. Tony was the one with the ring box now, so Bucky was probably right about Tony being the one to tell him. "O... kay?" Steve said, a confused frown on his face that put a little line between his eyebrows. Tony shared a glance with Bucky, gaining confidence when Bucky squeezed his hand. Steve wasn't going to say no, but it was still nerve wracking. "Well, the three of us have been together for a while now, and I know that you're already living with us and that's as properly official as it's going to get, but sometimes it still feels like it's not enough, you know?" Steve was nodding along, and Tony reached into his pocket for the ring box. "We just... we know this won't make it official. It's not legally binding or anything, and most people aren't going to think of it as real, but." Tony shoved the box into Steve's hand. He'd meant to place it in gently-- romantically, if you will-- but he was nervous, so sue him. "I know you feel like a third wheel still sometimes, Steve," Bucky said softly. "And I think part of that is because me and Tony are married to each other, and you aren't. And, yeah, this isn't a legal thing, it's just a symbol, but if we could marry you, we would, punk. Like Tony said, we shoulda done this a long time ago." Steve fumbled for a minute, throat working and fingers clenching around the little box that looked all the smaller in his large hands. Finally, he opened it, staring at the ring that matched Bucky and Tony's. He pulled it out and glanced surreptitiously at the inside to see just how similar it was. Sure enough, there his name was, engraved on the inside of the band next to Tony and Bucky's names, little hearts between them. When he glanced up at them, he saw them both smiling softly at him. Tony pulled on his own ring until it came off, and he held it up for Steve to see; they'd put his name on their rings too. "I never thought I'd get this," he admitted quietly. Bucky moved to Steve's side, putting an arm around his waist and pulling him close. "I'm sorry it couldn't be more official. And I'm sorry that we didn't do this sooner," he added, and both Steve and Tony knew he was referring to his insecurity about his place in their relationship. Steve shook his head, putting the ring on his left hand and flexing his hand around it. It felt strange, but the kind of strange that he was going to love getting used to. "I know it's- I know we're not having a ceremony but can we... take some pictures?" There were pictures of the three of them together all over of course, but Steve felt a little pang of sadness when he saw Tony and Bucky's wedding picture. He'd been at the actual wedding, but considering what had happened since then, it was hard for him to see it. "Yeah," Tony said. "I've still got the suits and everything." Steve smiled, the grin spreading slowly across his face until it was stretched from one end to the other. Ten years ago, the three of them were scattered with issues as tall as skyscrapers, and now they were married. He could definitely get used to this.
10 Things Steve Jobs Can Teach Us About best piano keyboard for beginners
Correction Appended
On an album of bittersweet childrens tunes that she wrote over a decade back, the girl who arrived to be recognised only as being the piano teacher presented what, in hindsight, looks like an eerie glimpse of her very own foreseeable future.
Im moving away currently to a spot so distant, where nobody is aware of my title, she wrote within the lyrics of a tune identified as Shifting.
When she wrote that song, she was youthful and vivacious, a piano Trainer and freelance new music author who cherished Beethoven and jazz, sunsets and river Appears, very long walks and every thing about Big apple.
youtube
On a type of beloved walks, by means of Central Park in the brilliant Solar of the June working day in 1996, a homeless drifter defeat her and made an effort to rape her, leaving her clinging to life. Once the assault, the words to her song arrived real. She moved away, out of Ny city, outside of her aged existence, and all but her closest pals didn't know her identify. To the remainder of the environment, she was — just like the additional famed jogger attacked in Central Park 7 yrs previously — an nameless image of the city nightmare. She was the piano teacher.
Now, about the tenth anniversary of your assault, she is celebrating what seems to be her comprehensive Restoration from brain trauma. She's 42, married, with a small little one. She is Kyle Kevorkian McCann, the piano Trainer, and she or he desires to inform her story, her way.
Her medical professional explained to her it would acquire 10 years to Get better, and Sunday was that talismanic anniversary. I feel my lifestyle has been redefined by Central Park, she stated a number of days ago, her voice comfortable and hopeful. In advance of park; soon after park. Will there ever certainly be a time when I dont Believe, Oh, this is the tenth anniversary, the 11th anniversary?
She spoke in her modest ranch property inside a wooded subdivision in a Ny suburb. She sat inside a eating home strewn with toys, surrounded by images of her cherubic, darkish-haired 2-yr-previous daughter. A Steinway grand stuffed fifty percent the home, and at just one issue she sat down and played. Her playing was forceful, but she appeared ashamed to Participate in quite a lot of bars, and shrugged, rather then answering, when questioned the identify with the piece. She requested that her daughter and her city not be named.
She calls that day, June 4, 1996, the working day After i was harm.
Hers was the primary in a string of attacks by the exact same gentleman on four Girls in excess of 8 times. The last target, Evelyn Alvarez, 65, was crushed to death as she opened her Park Avenue dry-cleaning shop, and ultimately, the assailant, John J. Royster, was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in jail.
Still the assault around the piano Instructor may be the just one individuals appear to be to recollect probably the most. Portion of the fascination must do with echoes on the 1989 attack around the Central Park jogger. But Furthermore, it frightened men and women in a means the attack about the jogger didn't simply because its situation had been so mundane.
It didn't happen in a very remote Section of the park late during the night time, but near a favorite playground at three within the afternoon. It might have took place to any one. The strain was heightened from the secret of your piano instructors identity.
For three days, as law enforcement and Medical practitioners tried using to discover who she was, she lay in the coma in her medical center mattress, nameless. Her dad and mom ended up on getaway and her boyfriend, also a musician, was in Europe, on tour. Finally, one of her learners recognized a law enforcement sketch and was in a position to determine her while in the clinic by her fingers, since her facial area was swollen past recognition. The police didn't launch her identify.
The last thing she remembers about June four, 1996, is offering a lesson in her studio apartment on West 57th Street, then putting her extensive hair inside of a ponytail and heading out for just a wander. She does not keep in mind the attack, Even though she has heard the accounts in the police and prosecutors.
To me its just like a point I figured out and memorized, she stated. Just as if I ended up a college student in class studying record.
youtube
She won't think of The person who did it. I may have been offended for just a instant, although not a lot longer than that, she explained. How could I be indignant at John Royster? He was declared not crazy, but I guess by our standards he was.
Dr. Jamshid Ghajar, her medical professional at New York Clinic-Cornell Medical Center, as it was known in 1996, explained to reporters that she experienced a 10 p.c prospect of survival. Medical practitioners experienced to eliminate her forehead bone, which was afterwards changed, to produce home for her swelling Mind. When her mother built a public appeal to pray for my daughter, thousands did.
Right after 8 days, she came outside of a coma, 1st in the vegetative point out, then in a very childlike point out. As she recovered, she slept minor and talked continuously, at times in gibberish. I used to be obtaining mad at people today every time they didnt reply to these phrases, she explained.
Like an Alzheimers affected individual, she had minimal short-time period memory and would ignore visitors as soon as they left the home.
In excess of quite a few months, she had to relearn ways to wander, gown, examine and produce. Her boyfriend, Tony Scherr, frequented on a daily basis to Perform guitar for her. He encouraged her to Perform the piano, against the advice of her Bodily therapists, who believed she could well be disappointed by her inability to play the way in which she at the time experienced. Mr. Scherr played Beatles duets together with her, enjoying the left-hand part while she played the best.
Which was my finest therapy, she said.
In August, she moved again house to New Jersey, together with her father, an engineer, and mom, a schoolteacher. She frequented old haunts and known as good friends, striving to restore her shattered memory. I had been incredibly obsessive about remembering, she claimed. Any memory loss was to me an indication of abnormality or deficit.
Her therapists thought her progress was fantastic, but her two sisters protested that she wasn't the deep thinker she had been.
What bothered her most was that she experienced dropped the opportunity to cry, like a faucet inside of her brain were turned off. Just one night, 9 months soon after she was harm, she stayed up late to view the John Grisham Film A Time for you to Get rid of. Just right after her father had long gone to mattress, she watched a courtroom scene of Samuel Jacksons character on trial for killing two Males who had raped his younger daughter.
The faucet opened, along with the tears trickled down her cheeks. I considered my moms and dads, my father, and the things they went via, she stated. Small by minimal, my emotion returned, my depth of intellect returned.
Urged by her sisters, she went again to highschool and got a masters diploma in tunes schooling.
Not all the things went nicely. She and Mr. Scherr break up up five years after the attack, although they continue to be good friends. She dated other Adult men, but she usually informed them with regard to the assault straight away — she could not aid it, she reported — and so they never termed to get a second date.
We've got to seek out you someone, her Good friend David Phelps, a guitar participant, reported four many years ago, just before introducing her to Liam McCann, a pc technician and amateur drummer. For the moment, she did not say something regarding the attack until eventually she obtained to find out Mr. McCann, and then when she did, he admired her toughness.
Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, who experienced normally visited her at her bedside even though she was inside the hospital, married them in his Occasions Sq. Business office. She wore a blue gown and pearls. Whilst she was pregnant, inside of a burst of creative imagination, she and her friends recorded When Had been Youthful, an album of childrens tunes that she experienced written prior to the attack, including the tune Moving. Her ex-boyfriend, Mr. Scherr, generated the CD. On it, her partner performs drums and she performs electrical piano.
Is her existence as it had been? Not just, though she is unwilling to attribute the variances to her injuries. Her last two piano pupils remaining her, without the need of contacting to elucidate why, she stated. She has resumed enjoying classical audio, but straightforward items, for the reason that her daughter doesn't give her time to observe. As for jazz, I dont even consider, she explained.
Tumblr media
She would like to generate much more, sensation stranded within the suburbs, but she is well rattled. She tries to be content with being property and caring for her daughter.
Dr. Ghajar, a medical professor of neurological surgery at exactly what is now named Ny-Presbyterian Clinic/Weill Cornell Medical Centre, who operated on Ms. Kevorkian McCann following the attack, mentioned final 7 days that her volume of recovery was unusual. Shes generally standard, he claimed.
Other specialists, who're not Individually familiar with Ms. Kevorkian McCanns situation, are more careful.
Regaining the chance to Participate in the piano may well contain an Practically mechanical system, a semiautomatic recall of what the fingers really need to do, mentioned Dr. Yehuda Ben-Yishay, a professor of medical rehabilitation drugs at New York College School of Medicine. When brain-injured, you will be generally brain-injured, For the remainder of your life, Dr. Ben-Yishay claimed. There isn't any heal, There's only intense compensation.
The more telling Section of a Restoration, in his view, is psychological, and on that score he counts Ms. Kevorkian McCanns marriage and little one as an important victory.
For her portion, the piano teacher is aware of she has improved, but she has built her peace with it. I was type of a hyper —— I dont know if I used to be a Type A, but I was ambitious, she states. Why was I so bold? I was a piano teacher. I dont know very well what the ambition was about. I actually did return to the person Im alleged to be.
Unexpected Arrival - 2
Pairing: Eventual Bucky x Reader, Possible Steve x Reader
Summary: As if working with the Avengers wasn't exciting enough.... an unexpected visitor is about to change your life forever.
Tumblr media
When the team got back from their mission Natasha went straight to Y/N’s room to check on her. When she opened the door and found the bed empty she started to panic, she had told her to go see Bruce if she got any worse.
"F.R.I.D.A.Y where's Y/N?" Nat asked the A.I.
"Agent Y/L/N was taken to medical by Captain Rodgers and Mr Stark"
"Shit!" Nat cursed as she turned and started running towards the medical floor.
"Nat? Whats going on?" Bucky asked seeing her running towards him.
"Y/N was taken to medical! I knew there was something wrong with her before we left! I should've trusted my gut and taken her there myself!"
"Well lets go check on her then" he said getting into the elevator with Nat.
Nat rushed out of the elevator and saw Tony and Bruce standing at one of the doors looking in while they spoke quietly to eachother.
"Hey, what happened is she okay?" Nat asked quickly wanting answers.
"Shes fine, we handled the situation" Tony said truthfully "did you not get my message? I tried calling you"
"My phone got trashed in the fight...."
"Its been an interesting night lets just start there" Bruce said running a hand through his hair.
"Interesting is the biggest understatement of the year Banner! It was literally the shock of a lifetime!! Especially for that girl in there" Tony said pointing towards the room behind him.
"Does someone wanna tell me what the hell is going on??" Nat snapped.
"You should probably take a look for yourself.... you’d never believe me otherwise".
Natasha walked over quickly, as she looked into the room Y/N was sleeping soundly.... Steve was sat in the chair next to her..... with a baby??!!
"What the fuck...... she.... she was pregnant???" Nat said turning to face the men behind her.
"What??" Bucky asked walking over to see for himself.... when he saw Steve holding the tiny baby in a yellow blanket he turned to the others looking horrified.
"Yep, a healthy baby girl. Born at 04:34am weighing 5lb 9oz delivered by yours truly!" Tony said sounding pleased of himself.
"How is that possible..... theres no way...." Nat was saying quietly to no one in particular.
"If you’re this shocked, can you imagine how shes feeling?" Bruce said nodded towards the room.
"Is it Steve's?" Nat asked seeing him holding the tiny baby and smiling.
"They say its not, she wont tell us who the father is until shes had a chance to tell him first"
"So she didnt know she was pregnant?" Bucky asked from beside Nat, his eyes glued to the tiny baby in Steves arms.
"Not a clue. She thought she had bad stomach flu" Bruce answered looking over her chart.
"She had been sick, she told me she thought it was stomach flu before we left. This is huge!"
"No shit" Tony rolled his eyes "she's gonna be out for a while, you want me to call you when she wakes up?"
"Yeah that would be good" Nat nodded
"I'm gonna check in with Steve quickly and make sure he’s okay" Bucky said and walked toward the room.
"just keep it down i don't want her waking up yet, shes had a tough night"
"Sure" Bucky nodded and headed inside.
Steve looked up when he heard the door open and smiled at his best friend.
"Guess you guys heard about the unexpected visitor we had" Steve said looking down at the baby in his arms.
"Yeah.... they just told us.... a..are they both okay?"
"Yeah they’re both perfect. Y/N is wiped out but after what she went through i cant say i blame her. It was amazing Buck!"
"You were there?... for the birth?"
"Yeah she wouldn't let me leave" he chuckled "that woman has got one hell of a grip i tell ya! Nearly crushed my hands. And this little lady..... i cant stop staring at her Buck! Shes so tiny and perfect. Look!" Steve motioned for Bucky to come and take a closer look at the baby.
"Wow.... shes beautiful! Look at her tiny little hands...."
"She keeps making the cutest little cooing sounds i swear my heart is melting for this kid" Steve gushed as Bucky pulled up a seat "You wanna hold her?" Steve offered his friend.
"No.... no i might hurt her" he said looking down at his metal arm.
"You wont, it'll be fine. Besides i really need to go to the bathroom"
"Oh... Okay" he said letting out a shaky breath as Steve stood up and passed him the baby.
"You good?" Steve asked checking with Bucky before he left.
"Yeah.... i got her" he nodded settling the baby in his flesh arm.
"I'll be right back" Steve assured him before slipping out quietly.
Tumblr media
The room was quiet as i slowly opened my eyes, i could already sense there was someone else in here with me but just assumed it was Steve still. When i turned to look i was shocked to see Bucky sitting in the chair holding the baby.
"Hey..... you’re back" i said quietly so i didn't surprise him.
"Hey, Yeah we got back about an hour ago" he replied with a small smile "you had a busy night huh?"
"You could say that" i said pulling myself up in the bed so i was sitting up against the pillows.
"She's perfect Y/N" Bucky stated looking down at the yellow bundle in his arms.
"Yeah she is" i agreed "Buck....she's yours" I added quickly, there was no easy way to tell him that he was a dad "you know that right?"
"I had a feeling she might be" he nodded slowly and gave me a smile. Bucky seemed surprisingly calm about the whole thing actually.
"I swear i had no idea i was pregnant! I would've told you if i did. Having this dropped on you is huge.... i mean we're not even together! It was a one time thing and now we're parents!" I rambled away nervously "i was still going on missions for christ sake!"
"Y/N you didn't know, of course you'd still go on missions"
"I don't expect you to be okay with this, i can do this on my own.... no one needs to know shes yours, if thats what you want?"
"Is that what you want?" Bucky asked looking at me with sad eyes.
"No! Of course i want you to be apart of her life.... she needs her dad too. Im not ashamed to tell people she's yours Buck" i added knowing that was what he was really asking. He was asking if i was embarrassed about people finding out i had slept with him "but if you’re not ready for this i completely understand, i wont pressure you into it".
"Hey, you’re awake" Steve said smiling as he walked back into the room again interrupting whatever conversation i was having with Bucky.
"Yeah" i nodded with a quick smile before looking over at Bucky holding our daughter.....It really was a beautiful sight, he was being so careful with her. Steve must have noticed something in the way i looked at Bucky and Bucky was looking at his daughter because he suddenly let out an "oh my god....".
Bucky and i both looked up at him with wide eyes "what?" We said in unison waiting for Steve to tell us what was wrong.
"Is.... is she...." he pointed at Bucky and looked at you for confirmation.
"Yeah, she's Bucky's" i confirmed casually trying my best to act like this wasn't a huge deal.
"I didn't even know you two were a thing.....you never said anything Buck?"
"We're not together Steve thats why he never said anything" i said to save Bucky having to explain to his friend.
"So it was just a one time thing?"
"Yeah" i said with a shrug, i was trying my hardest to kept my shit together and keep calm. Keep my heart from trying to explode from my chest, i was pretty sure the two super soldiers could hear my heart racing though.
"Hey Steve, could you ask Nat to bring me a change of clothes down i really need to take a shower i feel disgusting" i said changing the subject before it became any more awkward.
"Sure, i know shes waiting to see you and meet this one here" he nodded to the baby in Bucky's arms "speaking of.... shes gonna need a name, have you thought about it yet?"
"Not yet, i don't want to rush into it and regret it. Parents normally have 9 months to decide on a name not 9 hours"
"Fair point" Steve chuckled "i'll go get Nat for you".
"Thanks.....hey Steve?" i called getting his attention as he reached the door.
"Yeah?"
"Thank you for being there for me today, it means a lot"
"Of course" he blushed before leaving me alone with Bucky and our daughter.
"I wish i could've been there" he said quietly "I'm sorry doll".
"Its fine, we didn't know what was going to happen Buck".
He nodded slowly but looked kinda sad that he had missed it, or maybe it was because Steve had been there and not him.
"I should go and let you get some rest"
"You can stay, you can watch her while i take a shower if you want?"
"You don't mind? You trust me with her?"
"Of course i do! Buck you’re her dad you’re not going to let anything happen to her".
"Id die before i let anything happen to her" he stated staring lovingly at her.
"See" i said with a chuckle "ive got nothing to worry about. Well almost nothing"
"What do you mean?"
"I have nothing for her, no clothes, diapers....no nursery. All i can do is feed her right now. Tony said he'll take care of it all but i feel bad leaving it all to him"
"He’s probably enjoying it doll you know what he’s like"
"Yeah i know, i just wish i had had time to do all that stuff myself"
"You would've kept her then? If you had found out you were pregnant?"
"I would" i nodded happily and truthfully.
A knock on the door pulled my attention and i turned to see Nat making her way in with a bag.
"Hey sweetheart, i leave you alone for a couple of hours and you go and have a baby?"
"Yeah sorry about that, who knew?" I laughed as she wrapped her arms around me and gave me a tight squeeze.
"Let me see!" She cooed as she walked over to Bucky to get a good look at the tiny bundle in his arms.
"Oh my god shes so precious! Absolute perfection. Y/N.... Can i hold her?"
Bucky looked like he didn't want to part with her but eventually handed her over to Nat gently.
"Hey I'm your auntie Nat. Uncle Bucky doesnt get to hog all the cuddles does he" she said rocking the baby gently.
"Erm about that Nat..... its not Uncle Buck.... she's his daughter"
Nat looked up at me with wide eyes and then looked at Bucky "what?? When did that happen??!" She said loudly causing the baby to stir slightly "shhhh im sorry baby girl go back to sleep" she said quietly.
"I'll give you two a few minutes to talk, i'll come back to watch our girl while you take your shower"
"Thanks Buck" i smiled and watched him leave the room.
"Sooooo, spill! You never told me you and Barnes were a thing!"
"We're not a thing, it was just the once"
"When?? You didn't even tell me you two slept together! We're supposed to be best friends!"
"You remember that mission we went on, the one where we had to stay at that safe house for the night to make sure they weren't tailing us?"
"Alaska?"
"Yep that would be the one. We were both beat up and were helping each other clean up.... one thing led to another and here we are" i said pointing to my baby daughter in Nat's arms.
"And it was just a one time thing...."
"Yeah, it never happened again. He acted like nothing had happened the morning after so i didn't make a big deal about it. We just carried on as normal" i shrugged.
"Did you want things to change? With you and Bucky i mean"
"Honestly? I was hoping it would" i finally admitted "i had liked him for ages Nat and when we finally.... i thought maybe he felt the same way. But clearly i was wrong"
"Y/N..... you should tell him! You guys have a daughter now"
"Thats not gonna make him suddenly want me Nat" i laughed "it doesn't matter anyway, I've already accepted that we'll only ever be friends" i said as i slowly climbed out of bed to grab the bag that Nat had brought with her.
"Hey be careful!" She said taking a few steps towards me.
"Im fine Nat just a bit sore, i can get out of Bed by myself" i told her as the door opened and Bucky came walking back in.
"take it easy doll, should you even be up and about yet?"
"Guys I'm fine, really" i tried to tell them "i just need a shower"
"Okay, Buck you wanna take your girl and i'll get momma to the shower" Nat said handing over the baby, he soon had his daughter settled against his chest and took a seat again.
"You’re a natural Barnes" Nat said sounding surprised walking over to me and taking the bag "lets go get you cleaned up".
"I wont be long Buck, you okay with her?" I asked wanting to make sure he felt comfortable being left alone.
"We're good, go take care of yourself. We'll be waiting for you when you get back" he smiled.
