idk if i've ever mentioned it here but i have an extremely specific fic idea where fem!Homelander relentlessly bullies Vought's in house barista (f!reader) every time she comes to order her whole milk latte, which she only started drinking when this barista was hired. teases her, makes fun of her job. it's all flirting but it's so hard to tell with her. one day, when Homelander is being particularly distracting, the barista messes up the order (she makes her nervous okay!!) and Homelander doesn't even need to take a sip to know it's wrong.

so naturally she holds the drink out and says, "Give this a taste for me."

poor barista is so confused, doesn't move to take it, stammers that, "I'll remake it, I'm sorry." doesn't even remember what she put in it, it was such a blur.

Homelander clicks her tongue, looking amused, and then in a flash she's snatching reader by the hair and bringing the drink to her lips. "I didn't tell you to remake it. I told you to taste it."

looks way too pleased with herself as reader takes a trembling sip of the drink. they know as soon as they taste it what they did wrong.

"Vanilla," they choke out. "I'm sorry, I added vanilla."

Homelander smiles all wolfishly. "Yeah. That's alright." She lets go of the barista. "Won't happen again, will it, sweetheart?" Gives a little wink for good measure.

"No, it won't. I promise."

"Atta girl," she says, and wipes the milk foam from the barista's lips with her thumb. Licks it off her gloved digit. "See you tomorrow."

was talking about the way the supersons are one of the most fanonized relationships in comics in the tags of that one post and now i'm thinking about the weird fanon thing that's super minor but annoys me the most: there is a certain group of people who seem to believe that damian would,,, dislike jay? why????

cannot emphasize enough how the text of the comics tells us the exact opposite. like, okay:

background/future relationship tagging on AO3

I've encountered two opposite critiques/requests* for AO3 tagging of background or future relationships, and I don't think a single perfect solution exists. But I'm curious to see if there are strong preferences.

Scenario (see my tags for why I'm basing this on a specific situation instead of making it more generic): I'm posting a one-shot story to AO3 that is about A/B hooking up for the first time. But also, both A & B used to date C, and A is trying to help B/C to get back together, which seems likely to lead to A/B/C.

*If you're less familiar with tagging dilemmas AO3, here are the two different issues I've seen:

When I've tagged offscreen/potential poly relationships like A/B/C as relationships, I've gotten some complaints because that those relationships weren't onscreen, which disappointed people who were actively seeking out A/B/C.

When I've tagged only A/B, people who only want A/B and were trying to filter out A/B/C were unhappy, because A/B/C is discussed a bunch onscreen.

My opinion about the best thing to do here has wavered back and forth, as both of the above raise valid points. Very curious to see what others think is the best tagging practice!

goddamn it now you've got me thinking about Sonic Minecraft headcanons and shit lmaoooo lemme like... spout a few: -Tails is the redstone nerd, he's the one who would literally learn to build computers inside of minecraft. The others purposefully ignore redstone in caves purely because they dont want him building massive shit that lags the entire server lmao, if he wants the redstone he has to get it himself. -Amy and Sonic are the two who use shaders, Sonic has a beefy-ass PC that Tails made for him so he likes to use shaders to make the world look as cool as possible, but he's also still a freak for high FPS so he tends to use low-end shaders with very basic texture packs. Amy, however, pushes her own PC to it's limits to make shit look as beautiful as possible, and she has a whole slew of texture packs that she's organized and uses. She's the screenshot lover, and the primary builder of the group. -Omega isn't in the server because he would not stop asking for mods that add explosives so he gets his own modded world where it's just.... always chaos. -Amy is also the primary server moderator, while Tails helps her with the technical stuff. -Rouge has been banned and unbanned like 14 times for stealing so now they shut down the server if Amy or Tails isn't online to make sure she doesn't cause trouble again. -Sonic, as you've mentioned, tends to explore a lot, so the others often find random dirt huts every 1000 blocks or so from when he forgets to take food with him and his sprint runs out at night time lol -Knuckles is the primary mining dude, he also absolutely refuses to give up his emeralds to trade with villagers because he wants to rebuild his home ruins in Minecraft and hopes to use emerald blocks for that. -Shadow is.... a bit of a wildcard??? He just tends to do whatever the hell he feels like, which is either building onto his house made of an assortment of random blocks, or causing absolute fucking mayhem for everyone else. He's also the one who spends his EXP on naming his weapons the most batshit insane stuff. -There was a moment in time when they were all in a VC together that Sonic said "Oh hey I found Shadow!" and not even 5 seconds later the message "SpeedyBoi was slain by XxUltimateShitlordxX" appeared in the in-game chat -Tails most likely helped set up some of their Minecraft accounts so many of them ended up stuck with names they absolutely did not choose

Yea, Optimus’s… mental state for the lack of a better term is a bit haywire right now. Sentinel’s words about breeding kink being shameful is right there at the top of his helm (that bitch), the part focused on the bitties/“carrier protocol” want his newest bitties to interact with their sires, his loyalty to the Autobots is like “what did you do?!” at the fact he was bred by Decepticons in the first place, and his breeding and pregnancy kink are asking when the next batch is and who it should choose. And Optimus has no idea how to handle so many conflicting thoughts.

A few weeks after Optimus’s recovery period is over and at a time where the Autobots have the warframe bitties, Snarl asks why Optimus is acting weird around anyone who isn’t a bitlet. The rest of the crew and Dinobots (minus Oppy of course) also noticed Optimus avoiding them like the plague and only focusing on the bitties. Ratchet says that it’s a good thing Optimus is getting a longer break, and everyone just stares at Ratchet because why is that what he focuses on and not the fact that Optimus isn’t being himself? They start arguing and they have to go outside to continue talking because one of the dinobot bitties threw a wrench at them because they’re being too loud.

Said dinobot bitty goes back to Oppy once the adults are gone and not making so much noise. The lil guy goes back to playing with his siblings as Optimus sits in his next and holds one of the warframe bitties to his chest. He’s scared about his breeding kink controlling him again and that seeing one of the sires will force it to act and get him knocked up. Besides, basically 10 bitties are hard enough to raise even they’re not all accounted for.

The group’s arguing makes it so they don’t hear Blitzwing nearby and he goes to sneak in and yoink the warframe bitties… again. For the second time this week. He’s easily able to make most of the warframe bitties wander away from the rest of the litters, but one just won’t come over and it’s the one happy as a clam against Optimus’s chest. Blitzwing can’t go back with only some of the warframe bitties, so starts trying to get the baby’s attention. He fails miserably as the rest of the bitties start noticing him and wondering why he’s trying to take their siblings.

Due to all the bitties stopping their playtime and looking at one specific area, Optimus notices and follows their little gazes, only to freeze up when he sees Blitzwing. All the bitties feel Optimus’s panic and are now wondering why mama is so scared, which makes them scared. All the bitties go over to Optimus for safety reasons and Blitzwing is just like “why are you like this” to the warframe bitties. The warframe bitties specifically are confused on why their carrier is scared of something near their sire. Isn’t sire going to protect them?

Blitzwing tries to get Optimus to let the warframe bitties visit sire, but Optimus’s mind is basically consumed by all the things fighting for dominance (Sentinel’s words, carrier coding, Autobot coding, breeding and preg kink). The carrier instincts win, but in the “I must protect my babies this mecha gonna harm them protect them!” sort of way. So not helpful for Blitzwing.

Blitzwing sees he’s running out of time before the rest of the Autobots notice that he’s here, so just goes to grab the warframe bitties. Optimus retaliates by biting Blitzwing’s servo and Blitzwing’s instincts makes him slam and throw Optimus into the ground. Blitzwing suddenly realizes he fucked up as all of the bitties start crying out because mama is hurt, papa help! (Or papa stop for the warframe bitties.)

The Autobots and Dinobots rush in and Blitzwing is forced to flee without any of the warframe bitties. All of the bitties are happy to see them but also very worried and scared for their carrier. Ratchet takes Optimus and tells Grimlock and Prowl to come with him while everyone else is tasked with calming down the bitties. (Prowl bc Ratchet likes his help for medical stuff that require more than one mecha and Grimlock bc his presence comforts Optimus.)

Optimus is patched up and Grimlock asks why he was hiding. And Optimus just starts crying and telling them all of these clashing protocols and codes and thoughts running through his processor and the three have to calm him down and reassure him. Oppy is happy to have the support of his mates and the bitties feel that mama isn’t as miserable anymore, so it’s easier for the others to get the bitties happy and playing again.

Oppy ends up nuzzled between Ratchet, Grimlock, and Prowl with his breeding kink kicking up and he asks the three to breed him so his haywire thoughts and codes calm down. The three can’t help but oblige.

oh man this is turning into a whole fanfiction. Poor Optimus. He just loses it completely, being a young mommy to so many bitlets in such a disadvantaged position is hard. No wonder he ends up breaking a little after Blitzwing's latest attempt at luring away the newborn warframes, Oppy doesn't know what to do with himself.

But... getting bred will certainly cheer him up <3 It always has so far. He loves his bitlets and he wants more of them, this time without any "custody battles" to follow...

You know, I wonder what the rest of Detroit thinks about the autobots reproducing so rapidly...

Well fellow Callowmoores, it's almost 2024 and that will potentially be the year we see endgame of Campaign 3 - given how we've returned to the Bloody Bridge and likely intend to throw down on Ruidus and fight Predathos (somehow). Nevertheless, we're about halfway through our three week wait for another episode and since we're on the verge of intense and emotionally-charged battles ahead there'll probably be little time for romantic activity - little does not mean none, mind you - during it. Last time we had a wait like this I did a post on some underrated Callowmoore moments from the Shard Incident episodes, but since others have already wonderfully dissected the recent Feywild episodes' romantic moments I'm afraid I don't have much else to add to that. I do, however, have a bunch of mental scenarios that didn't come to be, or have yet to come to be in different contexts to how I previously thought them up. So I thought; it's the new year, why not indulge the artists and fanfic writers who can do a better job than I can with it?

So if you like some of these things, treat it as a free prompt; draw, write, flourish however you see fit, and have a Happy New Year!

If you kept reading after that awesome, I was a little worried the main thing would be a tldr situation, and still could be I didn't expect the bullets to be as long...they were actually even longer at first so not sorry but also sorry? I guess. But anyway, we know what you're here for so let's go.

Note: The scenarios were devised to keep me from suffering crippling doubt and mental shutdown between episodes so mostly they'll be fluffy and comfort-oriented than angsty.

As mentioned before, Fearne pickpocketing the Ashton doll Laudna made to practice talking to Ashton, building up to it or luring Ashton over. Ashton's awareness of the pickpocketing can grow too or they could simply allow it from the get-go "I let her take whatever she wants."

Dancing, low-hanging fruit maybe but always good for chaos, awkwardness, wingman activity, and high energy, but I'm talking folk dancing like in Titanic not ballroom dancing, that's not their or the Feywild's style

"I'll be the judge of that." specifically for when Ashton feels they're unlovable or doesn't deserve to be loved. There's also "Then I guess I'm crazy." and "You've always deserved it."

Pickpocketing one another has been their game, but I can't deny that the thought of Ashton making something for Fearne was highly appealing too, I had them make a bracelet from melted down jewelry and gems they had on them (plus a compartment with an Oleander seed and some water from the Feywild in it), imperfectly made but sturdy and still pretty. Bonus for Ashton reverse pickpocketing it onto her.

"You've always been perfect to me" is another one I mentioned before, I usually have Ashton say it (and sometimes post-Fearne taking the shard reiterate that Fearne keeps becoming more perfect in their eyes) but it can go either way.

Sleeping beside each other's a common one. Not even sexually, often it's for comfort, soothing pain/nightmares or reassuring each other, and - if Fearne hasn't disappeared beforehand leaving Ashton waking up feeling a comforting presence missing - usually not wanting to get out of bed the following morning.

Similar to the above is short rests in close quarters, a specific one is Ashton using their primordial earth powers to pull up a discrete wall for the group to hide behind and rest a little, melding into the actual wall to offer a polymorphed Fearne (a small fire lizard usually, sticking on Orym and Ashton's heads) more space so she can rest too, albeit very snugly and pressed against them - easy opening for kisses under the jawline btw.

Metaphorical but Ashton's reassurance of "You could never hurt me" regarding Fearne's primordial fire was used a bit, plus it aligns with the recent "I'll take my fire damage now" when they hugged Fearne.

Fearne being open to Ashton about her fears of being the dark version of herself, bonus quote "I don't know that person, she's not you, never will be, you're better."

Fearne pulling the Uno Reverse "The shard hurt, but knowing you were there made it hurt much less." and/or "Thank you for saving me."

Also similar to the one above are conversations post-Fearne taking the shard exploring newfound empathy for each other's (albeit more extreme) positions at Whitestone; Fearne experiencing the intensity of the shard's fire, and Ashton experiencing the dread of seeing Fearne in pain from it and being afraid to lose her.

"Whatever happens, promise you'll come back to me" is a pertinent one for the current setting too.

What is that? 1, 2...12! One for each month, there's of course more, some are simple low-hanging fruit or more detailed (no seriously I trimmed a lot of these bullet points down in detail) but for the sake of length we'll stop here. Once again, Happy New Year my fellow Critters and Callowmoores!
