#that he kind of forgot about having a cohesive plot

Hamlet randomly being kidnapped by pirates halfway through the play - an event that happens entirely offstage and is only revealed by Horatio reading a letter out loud - has the exact same energy as “Somehow, Palpatine has returned.”

really though if you don't mind being incredibly annoyed, the articles about the messiness behind Black Adam (2022) are actually a really interesting peek behind the curtain at the kinda shit the people working at dc are having to deal with rn. (x, x, and this one of him talking about it from before it all went down. the shift in tone is like. genuinely tragic lol)
but if not, i just need everyone to at least be aware of two of the most insane parts:
first, dc apparently just straight up forgot to tell priest he was supposed to be writing a limited series. he was under the impression that they wanted an ongoing and already had the first 25 issues plotted out when he found out they only planned on giving him 12… and also he didn't find out until they had already started publishing it
Tumblr media
and second, priest apparently wanted to do exactly what people have been literally BEGGING dc to do for years now & actually actually give a shit about the fact that he was writing in a shared universe. he wanted to be more collaborative, actually pay attention to and incorporate the major events meant to be happening in the universe to make the world feel more cohesive and the story & characters feel more grounded in it
this is probably the most infuriating & also kind of incredibly grim part because this apparently resulted in the corporate side of dc having a full on fucking meltdown about them... inserting two pages from Dark Crisis in the beginning of one issue??
Tumblr media
it's been kinda obvious that it's not exactly been smooth sailing over there for a while. i think we all knew it was a hot mess, but... good lord

Answering to @oeanonyme
I’m really bad at explaining (and in english is worst) so I’ll try to be as cohesive as I can (+)
Context: Word is divides by several countries (like in twelve kingdoms because I was a big fan). One of the countries is for humans, aka: Sakura, Gai, Lee, Tenten, and some others, the other countries are for people with some kind of power. Let’s say the other villages from Naruto (Gaara and the other kages). But also include the Uchihas and the Hyugas as other country (because I want).
Powers are given by …gods… or something like that. It’s a big thing for the story of Naruto, Sasuke and Hinata, doesn’t matter right now.
Something happen in the past with these three mentioned earlier (I’ll spend too much talking about it) and the story takes place 100 years later (immortality and reincarnation are posible).
Main plot: bad things are happening in most of the world, no one knows really why. They have to make alliances with other countries (kind of the Great War in naruto) but no one trust the other. Important people is pulling the strings from the shadows, include here the Hyugas because you know they have power and hate people “inferior” to them.
A piece of the past is missing to solve the mystery.
Something I forgot, humans can actually have “powers” but are not from birth, is a mark they accept at some age and each one develops a different ability, ex. Tenten can summon weapons (just like in Naruto) but from her body (because yes, I saw another character do it and it was dope). But they need a lot of training to master their ability.
More nejiten context, because that’s what started all this huge text: Neji is the right hand of Hinata, she has a position of power in her country. He is send to infiltrate the country (not a spy because everyone knows who he is, but a spy because no one knows his true intentions). Tenten just has to work with him, Gai is important in this matter. And things happen, not romantically, they just have to relate (Lee is important here too) and then more things happen, trust, hate, the past, the future and I’ll never finish writing sorry.
The story revolves with a lot of characters, everyone has a story and I involve the past and the present (I love Kamisama Kiss) so it’s difficult for me to explain and decide where to begin.
Hope you didn’t get bored reading, I’ve been thinking about this for five years probably but I’m not really consistent with writing or drawing, so everything stays in my head.

I've said it before, and I'll say again and keep saying it until the fandom finally acknowledges this glaring plot hole. If Poppy didn't remember Viva, Branch shouldn't have remembered BroZone. he was a baby. It was said over and over again that he was a baby. I don't care if Poppy was implied to be younger than Branch was when their respective siblings disappeared, THEY WERE BOTH BABIES!!!
And I've seen the whole "we they're trolls and they work differently, just look at Tiny Diamond" argument, and I'll tell you why this doesn't have much merit. TD is a Glitter Troll, and it seems that Glitter Trolls have different biologies and customs than your average Pop Troll. Tiny came out of his egg singing and dancing, with full comprehension of the world around him. Branch in the flashback acted like a naive little kid/a literal baby, and Poppy also acted like an infant when they were shown as babies. And as you can tell, neither are Glitter Trolls. So I firmly believe that Branch could not have possibly remembered BZ as he did in the movies, and they would either be a blur or completely forgotten. The only way he could have possibly remembered is if he had a photographic memory of some kind, because otherwise, it would make no sense for him to remember BZ. Honestly, it was kind of cruel od DreamWorks to have Branch remember losing his brothers and have Poppy not remember losing her sister, and really shows how much they love to traumatize and bully Branch.
What are your thoughts on this?
I feel it is meant to be as simple as Branch being an older baby due to just overall being Bigger than Poppy was and capable of slightly more cohesive speech.
not to mention his adorable Big Head 😭😭😭😭 and like you said Tiny I think is meant to be an exception either due to being a glitter Troll or just due to being a Rare instance of a Baby coming out the Egg already capable of talking and walking and even driving.
like I agree it is somewhat cruel by the writers having Branch Remember his Brothers while Poppy forgot about Viva and got to live in Blissful ignorance for all these years.
if anything her remembering her sister and like her dad thinking she'd died in the escape could have maybe been a neat little bit of background for Poppy's character imo.
what I mean is if beneath her overly posotive demeanour she'd actually had a bit of past damage herself that she preferred to forget actually giving her and Branch something more to relate over.
Hell if this had been the case it'd actually make her earlier attitude towards Branch's negative feelings towards his Brothers more understandable and forgivable.
since she'd have for all she'd known lost a sibling forever hence why she'd be convinced that there wasn't a problem too big that Branch couldn't fix with his brothers to have another chance with them.
that'd make her reasons more understandable imo than simply her being suddenly insecure over growing up a happy single child with a supportive parent.
and thus blatantly ignoring justified grievances from Branch even tho before the wedding she was the one trying to get him to open up to her about his negative feelings of upset.
but hey that's the writers for you they can be cruel when it comes to Branch here's Hoping they don't add anything else to his backstory in the future.
like maybe his parents died on his Birthday when he was a baby or maybe after his Grandma died he was placed in a Troll foster home and was abused their for years before finally going off on his own to build his Bunker.
I swear its a good thing these films are meant for kids otherwise who knows what sort of messed up stuff they'd write into his backstory next 😅😅😅😅 they gotta give that Angst to someone else next like Bro zone or Poppy or maybe even Bridget or Gristle just anyone who isn't Branch.

I just read your post on King and Eda, and I TOTALLY agree with you.
If you were in charge of the Owl House, how would you rewrite the two of them? (no pressure to answer if you don't feel like it.)
Forgot to mention this: This is with the kindness of hindsight. It is always easier to critique than it is to create. Especially with how little I plan my stories when I start them, it's arguable if I'd actually make something as cohesive as what I'm going to pitch here. This is why I rarely claim to actually be able to write something better.
So normally my response to this sort of ask is "You can't change the element without losing the spirit of the show" but that's actually not true with just changing Eda and King. There's a foundation there for something really good stemming from the concepts of the two of them but TOH actively avoids doing anything with them. Like I said... They're just kind of bad characters in execution because Eda doesn't have any interest in her own craft or her world while King is a contradictory, one note comic relief character for S1 and then a plot point more than a character in S2/3 that entirely hinges on his heritage. This is part of why King suddenly is the wisest fucking 8 year old to ever exist.
So what would I change? First, I would make them a real family from go. Not by blood but by connection. Acknowledge earlier that Eda adopted King when he was alone and scared. She actually cares about him but struggles to show it because she's been really hurt by family as well and just by life in general so she has these boundaries even with those she's close with. This makes Luz's arc of turning her more motherly feel more natural because Eda isn't just randomly becoming a better person and retconned as having always been sweet but instead her relationship with King highlights what her eventual fate will be as Mama Eda and allows her inner kindness to show earlier.
For King: Write him as a fucking eight year old. Now, I actually have to get into the other big change in order to discuss more of the changes I would make with him but he should never have been equally as world weary as Eda. It constantly put his age into question in S1 and it made how much he actually cared about his heritage feel out of step with the lessons Eda would have taught him to make him such a jaded ass in the first half of S1. It also means that his character is more inline with his character episodes instead of feeling like they're out of character. The true big change though is... Have them reflect twin sides of the Isles. Make Eda love magic, and thus show Luz the grandeur of the Isles (you can even keep the "No Chosen One" thing for this because she genuinely thinks ALL magic is special and wants to impart that on Luz if Luz really wants to be her pupil). It makes it so that she is actually motivated to teach Luz and to experiment with magic. It turns her character more towards someone who is always experimenting with magic and the curse was instead not just something that made them not be able to steal as effectively but a genuine tragedy for her. But because she acts tough and is forty and flirty, she doesn't show it except in really vulnerable moments. Again, this allows Eda and Luz to have a better relationship and keeps her character more consistent between the two seasons while still allowing character growth/an arc that feels justifiable versus what we got.
Meanwhile... King is a fucking 8 year old orphan who's mom has to constantly leave the house to feed them and Hooty is his only protection. He has no strength, he has no magic, he has no friends, he has NOTHING. So make him wanting to be a ruler explicitly a fantasy. Not just biologically encoded into him (which is a WEIRD fucking plot point to begin with) but something that comes from his surroundings. He wants to be a king and have minions because kings are safe and have subjects who adore them. It makes it so that you can have the ruling jokes while also letting King be a character. This also makes him latching onto Luz feel more natural. He is desperate for safety and others and Luz is not only willing to give him the time of day unlike most, but is also mostly safe. He doesn't have to worry about how much more powerful she is than him as they're getting close so he feels like a friend of hers rather than her vassal. This admittedly would need changes to how Luz treats King but, well... That kind of has to do with what both of these changes really are: Take the narrative goals TOH had for these characters... And use them to make real characters. This is a general problem of TOH that Eda and King suffer especially from. They're not real characters. They're just creations meant to serve specific goals and those goals are more important to the writers than the characters. Which begs the question of "If the writers don't care about the MAIN CAST as people... Why should the audience?" And that's something that I as a writer fear a lot personally. I consider characters to be the end and beginning of a story but they do still have to work for the story and finding that balance is a very real struggle. I do not promote Inspiration ID Vol. 1 because the main character in that series is shit. And he's shit because he is just my obsession with a porn trope I disliked and led to the creation of that book. And a lot of TOH shares that motivation so of course the characters are going to tear down the world they're in more than they're going to lift it up.
And when talking about main pillars of your story... The ground is going to cave in eventually.

Which main descendants AK and vk have the most wasted potential in your opinion?
I personally think all of them as I stated before In my wasted potential series but wanted your opinion?
“All of them” is accurate! The Descendants films are a graveyard of wasted potential
The Sea Three could’ve played a much bigger role in the plot; it would’ve been amazing to have subplots developing their plans to get off the Isle across all of the films
Even as far as the Core Four go a lot of potential character development was wasted, & Jay especially was ignored, particularly in D3. I really liked how in the books Mal & Jay were closer friends with each other and Evie & Carlos were as well; it would’ve been cool to see that instead of defaulting to grouping them more by gender.
As far as AKs go, it’s hard to pick just one! It would’ve been neat for Disney to more deeply explore that the AKs didn’t have perfect childhoods & also had the potential to do bad things, like they sort of brought up with Audrey at the end of D3 but it would’ve been cool to see AKs also breaking rules etc to drive home the point that in a lot of ways they weren’t so different from the VKs.
If I had to say one: Ben literally became king at the end of D1, which is a stupid amount of pressure to put on a high school student for no reason, but then he just…does nothing. Why give him that kind of political power & then ignore it. It could’ve easily been a different ceremony that necessitated getting the wand out in D1. He was already busy enough with school/being prepared to become king/extracurriculars to be too distracted to notice Mal doing magic for D2’s plot, and then in D3 everyone asks Mal what to do instead of Ben who is literally king. I know everyone’s already complained about that, but sheesh. Why did they make him king at the age of 16, and if they had to do that why didn’t they make it matter to the plot? That’s wasted potential
Basically I think it would’ve been really cool if the Descendants film canon had been more cohesively planned ahead and had a big overarching plot connecting the 3 films, or at least subplots that developed across the films. It would’ve been cool to see a build up to everyone agreeing to take the barrier down for a variety of reasons & figuring out a good way to do it instead of having it just be Mal’s whim at the end of D3 and everyone suddenly excited to see their abusive parents, who for all we know still want to destroy Auradon for revenge. It sort of feels like not only were all 3 written as mostly separate stories, but the writers forgot a lot of what they’d done in the previous film(s) each time. The whole VK Day thing is a horrifyingly bad idea as it is, but it also forgets that Dizzy was already invited & Evie said she would make a list of other VKs at the end of D2. As much as I do enjoy it, the whole franchise is a monument to wasted potential

Hey Chatte hope you’re doing well! Spring time is almost upon us :). I wanted to ask what kind role will Kurama play in your story? Personally he was one of the underrated sophisticated characters who had a lot layers to him and while morally he wasn’t the best but you did see where he was coming from. Also I saw that you mentioned after Chapter 13 drops you will be taking a break to layout the rest of your story into arcs does that mean you be stepping away from social media as well? I enjoy your posts on here and IG do you have a preferred one for interactions with?
Good luck with the rest of Kaika, I’m sure once the you set the layout of the arcs it will be much easier for the future on yourself .
Hi there!
Well, Spring time is here by the time I get to reply to your question, haha.
As for Kurama, I had something in mind for the bijuus to be honest, but I don't know if I have written it somewhere and to be honest I kind of forgot, because with these events happening in my personal life that had me pause the story for such a long while it was always like ok, now I'm doing it - event happened, made me stop. I settled for a bit then boom, something else happened, I stopped again.
Your question actually made me check my notes and from what I see I have some sort of backstory for the Bijuus built in. And it somehow connects in a way that's also more morally-gray. Just like the way the story portrayed Kurama as well.
But as I said (and that's to address the next part of your question), this time everything chilled down, I'm in a much more stable phase of my life so I need to take a break and organize EVERYTHING because honestly speaking right now? It's a mess LOL.
I have TONS of notes for characters, backstories, plots, power-ups, yadda yadda, the timeline actually finished, but uuh, my biggest problem is how to organize everything into something cohesive from an exposition point of view.
That's why I totally need to take that break and do some more research on how to properly do the exposition because if not, all that magic that's in my head will most probably end-up a mess like everything I have right now, so it's not gonna be fun lol.
That's why, as I said, Kaika is my playground for when I'll write my own original story because that one is gonna be a monster as well - I have 7 books planned for it and if I don't learn how to properly do exposition, it's gonna be messy lol.
The joys of having a creative mind, I guess... imagination is not a problem lol. Structure is, haha.
As for the next part of your question, I don't think I'll take a break from social media itself alltogether. I'll probably still be around. But maybe not that active as I used to be?
I'm not sure about that one to be honest. But what I am sure about is the break from writing Kaika. 2024's goal for Kaika is to have it fully plotted. That's for sure.
For the rest, we'll see.
Who knows, maybe I manage to finish real quick and I'll start writing it sooner than expected.
Because info wise? I have it all there. It's just a matter of how to expose it, as I said.
Thank you for your question and the kind wishes, though. Appreciate it!
All the best, Chatte

aggretsuko season 4 is 9 amazing episodes and then a wet fart.
I’m so mad that rather than have a cohesive ending to tying multiple plot threads together involving every single character we’ve grown to love and care for in this series, they used LITERAL ACTUAL MAGIC BULLSHIT to just wave a magic wand and aggretcon literally all of the events leading up to it.
it makes zero goddamn sense for haida to be cooking the books under orders from himuro, just because he’s tech-savvy, and it makes negative a thousand sense for him to do it simply to make retsuko notice him senpai.
what they SHOULD have done instead, to make it a way better ending, is to do this instead:
retsuko has been putting all of her energy into the death metal in order to make enough revenue to hire ton on as her accountant, and to help keep manaka and the other OTM girls on their feet financially, because retsuko is a kind and selfless person. she gives a little too much of herself, and thus doesn’t have as much energy at work. her performance slips, and she starts fucking up with her reports, BUT haida just says “yeah it’s fine good job” even though he is lying and she fucked up. so haida, the boss he is, through his love for retsuko, stays after work for several hours correcting her mistakes so that nobody not himuro not his lackeys not even GOD knows that she is dead weight on the company. haida knows retsuko is not going to be happy being tadano’s trophy wife or with performing on tour; haida knows that retsuko will only be happy working in accounting, even though she sucks at it, but he’s willing to sacrifice his own happiness and well-being and free time to make sure that she gets to keep the routine. she is suspicious of this so she and all of her friends go all mission impossible to check on the financial records only to find that no they’re all paranoid fucking idiots freaking out over nothing, himuro’s a good boy and washimi isn’t abetting embezzlement and haida isn’t uncharacteristically doing fraudulent and evil shit, and retsuko sees oh my god i’m accidentally taking full advantage of haida’s kindness. haida is still jealous of tadano and the arm wrestling scene is still perfect just the way it is, but then afterwards retsuko begs him to stop covering for her, and that she has to be responsible for her own fuckups. haida tells her he can’t do that for her because he loves her and she’s like, no. haida you don’t love me, you love the idea of being lovers with me. we are friendly coworkers, bordering on friends, but that is it. if you really want to pursue me romantically then you’ll get up off your ass and grow some fucking balls and actually ask me on a date, because why the fuck should she date a man who’s too much of a chickenshit to ask her out to her face? except she’d be nicer than me UNLESS she says it though death metal. you know, like she took care of all of her problems in the season finales beforehand. BECAUSE THAT WOULD ACTUALLY BE THEMATICALLY APPROPRIATE, UNLIKE THAT STUPID FUCKING DEATHCORE HADOKEN
and then, don’t even get me fucking started on the goddamn etch a sketch retcon storm. fuck it, there are no consequences. ton has his job back. kabae has her job back. the old president is back in play. himuro is on a bus and no longe relevant because OOPS WE FORGOT HOW TO WRITE A THEMATICALLY APPROPRIATE ENDING, FUCK IT, LET’S JUST GIVE UP AND TAKE A FEW STEPS BACK. all that really changed is that the death metal youtube channel is up and tadano is going to space and haida doesn’t work there anymore. which, like, okay yeah sure that’s worth the whole entire season.
NOTHING EVEN HAPPENED.
the status quo remained unimpacted.
what a ginormous waste of fucking time.
you had such a great setup for such an emotionally affective story, and also such an emotionally effective story, about workplace power dynamics and the shitty passive aggressive way japan deals with layoffs (don’t fucking tell me the japanese working class isn’t treated like absolute shit by the politicians and the corporate cronies who then bitch and mom about the declining birthrate and try to solve it by wasting taxpayer dollars commissioning weird misogynist mech fetish animes, rest in piss shinzo you spineless fuck) and how poorly mental health is treated in japan (aka the only fucking modern culture in the world with a location called the fucking suicide forest where thousands of people go to kill themselves just because they failed a standardized test or didn’t get a promotion at work, yeah sure that’s healthy, but sure you don’t need any therapists since that would be diShOnOrAbLe or some other bullshit) and other actually powerful subject matter that needs to be talked about, instead of this fucking clown college.
they just made it so goddamn generic and boring with a dozen untied plus threads not counting the ones that were just completely abandoned. what’s the point of kabae choosing to be a stay at home mom and maybe bringing some HONOR to a genuinely tough job, if just a couple episodes later they’re like ACTUALLY WHOOPSIE DOODLE HERE HAVE YOUR JOB BACK BECAUSE CONSEQUENCES ARE HARD!? what’s the point of retsuko hiring on Shitty Boss because she knows that he deserves to be recognized for his skill and dedication, if he just gets to be director later because some random writer waved a magic off-screen wand??? what’s the point of hiding the contents of the flash drive IF WE STILL DON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT THE FUCK WAS EVEN HAPPENING?
this is a disappointment. but hey at least it wasn’t the game of thrones ending. or worse, the sopranos. if you don’t know how the sopranos ended,

Have you heard of a streaming service called EPIX? If not, it recently changed its name to MGM+
A couple of years ago EPIX had a free weekend and I binged a scifi show it had - “War of the Worlds” starring Gabriel Byrne and Elizabeth McGovern. (McGovern did this after Downton ended and probably between the movies.)
Despite its name, it had little in common with HG Welles book. It started with an extraterrestrial invasion then went off in an entire different direct. At the time I thought I might have liked it better if it had a different name. I kept expecting it/wanting it to connect to the book.
In this series, the extraterrestrials release an electromagnetic pulse which causes most people on earth to have a seizure then die. Only people who were underground or in some other enclosure (made of metal?) survived. The extraterrestrials (not seen in the season) release robotic dogs to kill off any survivors (via a gun built into their snout).
What I found interesting was that it was an international production - England and France. The series followed 3 groups trying to survive:
group one in London led by Byrne;
group two in Paris with an English father trying to get to England to find out if his family is okay (he travels with a French woman and her teen son);
group three - a French woman scientist in an outpost in the Alps who detected the extraterrestrials signal before the attack. She hooks up with a team of French soldiers who protect the base in the alps. The scenes in the Alps were entirely in French (with subtitles).
When I finished the season, I felt indifferent. There was an English young woman central to the plot. She had been blind but after the attack she got her sight back. And she had “visions” related to the extraterrestrials AND dreams about the French teen boy from group two. The thing was, I didn’t particular like those 2 characters. She was too twitchy and the teen boy was clearly unhinged but hiding it.
I forgot all about the series until this week. I was looking for a new streaming service and MGM+ was available cheap via Amazon (which bought MGM proper last year). It had two more seasons of the show. Despite my indifference, I binged/scanned the episodes (fast forwarding when I got bored).
The issue over all with the series is that it didn’t seem as if the creators/producers had a cohesive plan - there were radical changes between seasons. And a kind of Mumbo-Jumbo use of pseudo-science to explain plot holes.
Season 2 - the two French groups eventually make it to London during this season. But McGovern doesn’t survive into season 2. It is revealed the extraterrestrials were humans (in season one it said they were from another “galaxy”). They looked exactly like normal humans, spoke English, and wore the same kind of grunge clothes as the Earth humans. I could only tell the difference because I notice their clothing was shade of dark green. They had traveled to Earth and centuries into their past to kill Gabriel Byrne because he would release a virus that would kill then all. (But Byrne only creates the virus because they invaded Earth!?!)
Eventually it’s revealed that the formerly blind girl and the sullen teen boy were the “Adam and Eve” of the extraterrestrials. They both had genetic defects which the Gabriel Bynre character (now an expert geneticist) would exploit to create the virus.
Although the girl was exposed to the virus, somehow both she and the teen boy were lured into an empty space ship, which the extraterrestrial leader sent into space to their home planet (where they would have children and populate the extraterrestrial planet). HUH?
Time travel stories often have plot holes but this one was a doozie. How did the the woman and the teen get to the planet in the first place… they could only do it because their ancestors sent a ship. There was no attempt to explain this. It was just never mentioned.
Season 3 made another incredible shift. Somehow Gabriel Byrne was able to steal another ship and use it as a Time Machine, going back in time to just before the invasion. He sees the young woman (blind) and kills her by pushing her off a building. BUT extraterrestrial leader and a bunch of her team had also been on the time traveling ship. They were determine to kill Byrne - this time in revenge for negating their existence by killing their ancient grandmother. How? By triggering another electromagnetic pulse to kill all humans on Earth.
I won’t explain the resolution, except to say there was a “black hole” hovering above the Arctic that connected this Earth to the parallel Earth where the invasion occurred. Other than saying radio waves couldn’t escape the black hole, there was no mention of what other hazards might occur with a black hole hovering over the earth for many months.
Why did I watch seasons 2 & 3? Dunno. Part is because I recently canceled 4 streaming services (HBO max, Paramount+, AMC+, and Broadway direct). I think I was curious where it was going. More to the point, why was the series funded with its meandering plot laden with holes?
(The thing I liked the best about the series was the robot dogs… an interesting design. They digitally designed, then 3D printed. But all movement on screen was CGI.)

Alright finally time for me to share my thoughts on the 3.2 archon quest.
long post ahead so beware.
all in all, I would say this is hands down the tensest, most fun, best archon quest thus far. Inazuma was kind of a mess, but it created tension through the dark, hopeless atmosphere and the fact that there was a literally civil war going on. Despite the stakes not being quite as high in the grand scheme in Sumeru, I feel that the tension matched just as much.
the character interactions between Sumeru’s five stars and the Traveler in this entire archon quest? *chef’s kiss*. Made me feel like we were really a cohesive team with interesting interactions and motivations that led to us all coming together.
and the lore? Oh Buddy. The lore.
Nahida being Rukkedevata, was, at first, kind of disappointing to me when it was implied at the end of the 3.1 archon quest. The entire story up to that point had seemed to be about how Sumeru, unlike the previous nations we’d visited, was a place where a god had little power, and instead of the story being about a god grieving or letting go (Ei and Zhongli respectively) I thought the quest was going to be about a nation having to realize that they had to move on from their God’s death and accept the new archon who loved them just as much.
I also thought Nahida was going to be revealed to be a “degenerated” form of Rukkedevata. Turns out, it’s more complicated than that. She’s not so much Rukkedevata in a weakened state, but more of a reincarnation, created from a pure branch of Irmunsil.
we also got a LOT of information on the “grand plot” of Genshin impact, being the conflict between the Traveler and the Abyss sibling, the “truth” of Teyvat, and the Heavenly Principles. We learned that the Fatui are aware that the Traveler is from beyond Teyvat, and they have identified three other “descenders” of similar origins.
now, Nahida says she thinks the “first descender” is the Heavenly Principles/Unknown God. She calls this a “hypothesis”. I believe that wording is very intentional by Mihoyo, because unlike us, Nahida doesn’t have the full picture. She doesn’t know that a different, Original God ruled Teyvat before Celestia and the Heavenly Principles arrived—how would she? The last god who found that “truth” out was Orobashi, and he was then sentenced to die at the hands of Ei by Celestia for discovering the truth.
I theorize that second of these descenders is the Second Who Came, AKA Celestia and the Heavenly Principles. Nahida specifically notes that these four descenders are people the Fatui have identified, and I think it’s safe to say the Fatui may know about the Original God who came before Celestia, so the Fatui might have identified that Original God as the first descender, making Celestia the second.
but the Traveler is the fourth. And Nahida tells us that the Fatui haven’t identified the Abyss Sibling as a descender, because Irmunsil has record of her. (In-game traveler interprets this as the Abyss sibling “hailing from Teyvat”, but Irmunsil is a memory card of all of Teyvat, and the Abyss sibling has been here for five hundred years, she’s entwined with Teyvat and it’s not really that she is from Teyvat, per se, but she has become a part of it and is thus recorded in its history. Also she showed up during Khaenri’ah, during or before the Fatui would have been founded, so it’s natural that the Fatui would have no reason to believe that the “Abyss Ruler” would be from outside Teyvat.)
so who is the third descender? Paimon is the best candidate, but she also forgot when we erased the memory of Rukkedevata from Irmunsil, so I don’t think it’s her. Or maybe the Fatui are aware that there is a third, but they just don’t know that the third’s identity is our sibling?
now, we know that the Fatui know about the world before Celestia and about Celestia’s total control over Teyvat because of Dottore’s comment on how the “sky is a lie”, which was also mentioned in the unreconciled stars event (before my time, sadly) by Scaramouche, so it’s safe to say that with the suspicious behavior of constellations, the eerie note “the stars in the sky will always have a place for you”, and the implications that Celestia control’s peoples’ fate somehow, the Fatui know plenty.
also, I think it was a lovely detail how the Traveler didn’t even initially try to ask Nahida for any information on their sibling. None of the other gods have provided any, so it seems that they’ve just become jaded, but Nahida pulled through!
I guess it makes sense that a god who was not at Khaenri’ah and has no recollection of it, but has access to certain information via the Google Tree would be the one to give us the most information.
but I think it’s interesting how Genshin has had a constant theme of humans no longer relying on gods, but in this quest we help a god take back her nation. I guess that theme was in the Akasha and how the Akademiya wanted to create its own god, but in the end they were still relying on a god?
impeccable quest and advancements to the story, I can’t wait for more and I hope future Archon quests will be as well done as this one!

to add another fandom question to the list I forgot to add: what are your thoughts on endeavor and his development? if you were a todoroki yourself, how would you feel about his development as his child? you can answer this from the hypothetical perspective of being a todoroki, as a fandom question alone or both. he is honestly such a complex and real character, there's really no wrong feeling toward his character. the todorokis in general are so interesting because on either side of the spectrum (one being dabi, the other being endeavor) their entire dynamic/development is practically what trauma survivours deal with in terms of recovery etc, especially cluster bs. you have that era where you're so mad at everything and everyone, especially the people who hurt you, and so you want them dead and maybe you even work toward that reality. but then you grow and realise this harboured hatred for everything living is stopping you from ever obtaining peace or happiness in regards to anything. and you realise your unintentional abuse toward people around you, that is a result of being abused yourself growing up, are hurting those people and pushing them away from you (when the most you want is for them to be close; or to not repeat the history of your abusers—regardless of what personal philosophy or desire you were unknowingly straying away from, the reality is that you'd benefit more by recovering from the abusive coping mechanisms you've picked up for survival). so you've got dabi who's still in this mindset of setting everything around him on fire, for relevant reasons and some not. then you've got endeavor who *was* setting everything around him on fire with his blind obsession toward number one, who then realised this isn't benefitting him, his family or upholding any worthiness of being the number one at all (which is what he was doing all of this for to begin with); thus he puts effort into changing for the better. ah truly thinking about the absolute parallels in their characters puts a lot into perspective. dabi never getting the father that tried until it was too late, only fueled him with more hatred, not only toward his father but the rest of his family—namely shoto. (I might be getting some things wrong since I didn't quite reach the point in the story where dabi and endeavor verse one another and whatnot, so hopefully this is still cohesive). and of what you've shared in regards to your journey with recovery, you're like the epitome of the dabi/endeavor spectrum, so I'd love to hear your pov of their relationship and individual characters !
another read more because once again i have written like 3k words ajksdhklasdjkhaljksdhjkasdh
so ur absolutely spot on about dabi and the todoroki's being my favs. i actually kin dabi harder than i kin bakugou. like bakugou very much feels like im looking at a mirror image of myself, particularly my younger self, but like. dabi is just straight up me. it is a 1 to 1 parallel we have lived the exact same lives. i just *am* him but i agree with absolutely all of that anon and ur SO spot on and correct. like thats literally it and it makes me foam at the mouth because of how exactly right and realistic it is and how human and familiar it all feels. i think the todoroki family are honestly the standout plot of that manga and the core of this entire story can be explored thru them all of his relationships with his kids really give u the full spectrum and their reactions and relationship to him are all so realistic to what its like to live in that kind of abusive family dynamic. everyone is going to have a different postion, differnt access to power, different subjugation and punishment, different standards and consiquences, all revolving around their postion and relation to the main abuser. and so when u look at an abusive family its always going to be a spectrum of mixed and conflicting emotions and loyalties and feelings. i think this is genuinely one of the best done and best represented things in the manga
dabi is the first born son, he has all the expectations and weight and responsibility that holds and is held to the higest standerd, he is the closest to endeavor in power and thereofre has the furtherst to fall when he ultimately doesnt live up. this is why his anger and rage and frustration are the greatest. fuyumi by contrast as the only girl had absolutely zero expectations placed on her, she was immediately tossd aside and never even in the running, so she doesnt harbor the same resentment and dissapointment that dabi does. she succeeds at fuffilling her misogynistic role as a secondary caregiver and is thus left alone and escapes a majority of the direct violent abuse, thus she's the peacemaker who just wants to have a happy family. then we have natsuo, because natsuo inherents none of endeavors firepower, he is also immediately discarded and forgotten about like fuyumi. he has no expectations and is neglected rather than directly abused like dabi, but he has no secondary role to positvely fill like fuyumi and so has nowhere positive to fall back on. that coupled with him being closer to dabi and being his support network, hearing about all the abuse dabi is going thru and seeing firsthand the consiquences of endeavors actions, he's angrier than fuyumi and after dabi's death, cant just move past it like the rest of them. this resentment and anger fester and build with no outlet, leaving him the silent dissenter among their household. he, like dabi, will also never forgive endeavor, but instead of letting that anger consume him, he focuses on escaping their life altogether because for him there was always the expectation of other options, unlike dabi who viewed a normal life as failure.
and lastly shoto, who, being born a perfect balance of his parents quirks, is able to usurp power and control from endeavor as he ages and matures. meeting izuku and getting punched in the face with some therapy during their match and after that forming close healthy friendships and developing a sense of self outside his family (something dabi never has the opportunity to do) leads him down a healthier path, and he's able to come back to his family after his time away and usurp that power from endeavor. he has the ability to assert his agency and be free of the control and abuse and represents what i think could almost be called a power fantasy for most abused kids. endeavor loses both his power and therefore his control and thus shoto is the one in charge now. he gets to set the boundaries, decide when he answers and when he doesnt, he has fully succeeded in surpsassing endeavor and thus fuffills the role he was born into which gives him the power and freedom to completely eradicate it. he doesnt crave endeavors approval because he's both gotten it and grown past his need for it. shoto doesnt have the anger dabi does because shoto succeeded where dabi failed. shoto wins endeavors acknowlegement and respect, whereas dabi will always be fighting for it while never being able to achieve it
i absolutely headcanon dabi as having aspd, like it just fits so perfect and makes so much sense given everything he's been through and feels. but dabi's entire relationship with endeavor is the closest depiction ive ever seen in my life to my relationship with my dad and the dynamic within my family. my dad purposefully picked out and trapped my mother into childbirth and marriage, i was not born to his standards and despite childhood me desperately wanting and seeking his approval and acknowledgement he tossed me aside and had another son to abuse instead. i hated and resented my brother for much of my childhood and i absolutely tried to hurt him badly on multiple occasions. he represented everything i wanted but could never have, it wasnt fair and i didnt understand why nothing i ever did was good enough and i took that anger and frustration out on someone who was even more powerless than i was. which is a super common thing in abusive households and is often why abused children torture or hurt animals. as children we are powerless to take our anger and frustration out on the peope hurting us so we mimic them and take it out on someone with less power
and so i identify so much with dabi's anger and feelings of betrayal and frustration. the feelings of rejection and shame and all of the things that culminate in his emotions literally burning him alive because they get so out of control. and he never ever gets the acknowlegement he's looking for. endeavor never once acknowleges him and so dabi just burns himself out further and further, pushes himself to every extreme just trying to get absolutely anything out of endeavor. it's such a "if u wont love me i'll make u hate me because then at least u'll feel *anything* for me" mindset that i can understand so well because i felt it so deeply with my own parents. i would act out negatively to get their attention all the time because i was just so desperate for my dad to acknowlege i existed and like my dad is universally known as an asshole so there's at least that but like if i had to live in a world where ppl upheld him as a saint and a savior and there was ppl walking around with fucking merch of his face and he had fanboys i'd probably also go insane and join a terrorist organization and murder 30 innocent people and release a nationally televised manifesto outing his crimes. like dabi was genuinely so valid for that LOL
i cant even keep my mouth shut if someone calls my dad a nice guy, if he was literally up on billboards and the daily news with huge swaths of the world calling him the greatest hero alive i'd absolutely become the joker lakshdgasdklasjkd the rage i would feel would indeed be enough to melt the flesh off my bones like horikoshi was dead right with that one LOL so i really do just love and identify with their whole story and plotline. and like most other things in the manga i dont love the direction they're going with it and the answers hori is trying to give, and frankly at this point while i know narritvely it makes sense for dabi to die because he does represent a stubborn extreme that in real life is not the right ideology or way through ur abuse and so he's realistically not going to ever be able to recover or be saved at this point in the story, because the role of the healthy mindset that can and will heal is shoto, i cant pull myself up out of my own feelings for that one and be okay with it so whenever it happens its gonna be big No Talky Me I Angy hours kjahsdajklsdhjkasd

Best Naruto crossovers- It depends honestly on whats being counted as a crossover!
Personally 'x AU' where the characters of one thing are planted in the world of the other thing or given the world conventions of the other media(daemon aus for example) I dont usually count as crossovers but as in the AU category, but I DO count world fusions (where say, Naruto and Dragon Age take place in the same universe) as crossovers as well as the traditional dimension travel and transmigration 'isekai type' crossovers.
Generally speaking I deeply enjoy both isekai-type crossovers and world fusions as tropes, and enjoy different types of media for either regarding Naruto. This is *very* dependent on the rules the other media has and how much I can suspend belief about it.
Naruto world fusing with HP for example is rarely believable in this case because HP is a modern world and hiding the bullshit that happens in Naruto fully doesnt seem possible(the damn MOON is involved) and the magic systems are dissimilar enough it doesnt feel like they are operating on the same universe rules unless one or the other's rules are heavily fudged.
Naruto and Stargate or Star Wars or other planetary adventures though are GREAT for a crossover of this kind because Naruto isnt set on our earth, on our continents, so we can just make it another planet and be done. The fact that there are canon aliens helps sell it too.
These crossovers can be AMAZING, but the crossed over property and how its used are key. The worldbuilding has to be really damn solid in these and many times it isnt.
What Naruto really shines with though, because it has canon dimensional shenanigans and reincarnation, is isekai-type crossovers. Most things can be made to work believably with a spot of dimension travel, and few things are so dissimilar that it wouldnt work at all. Those that dont work from dimension travel will work with transmigration and thus giving the magic system of that world to that character and usually solving the problem that way.
The drawback with these though, is that they have a high barrier for entry as they are the crossover of choice for many and its hard to stand out. Most end up going nowhere because they just wanted to get x to y but forgot to think of a plot or good reason why they would or would not get involved in canon events or why they dont spill the beans and help properly. Those that do often cant handle conflict and power scaling super well, which is fair because it can be very hard to make many characters have believable emotional or physical conflict in places where they outclass everyone and arent prone to angst and switching to crackfic and trying to learn to be funny instead can be even harder.
It less becomes a question of what is crossed with what and more how the plot is handled in isekai crossovers. Making them interesting and not 'the exact same plot as canon but sometimes the xover character interjects something witty or kills something' is the real test.
I saw a FANTASTIC 'send Shisui to dragon age inquisition' fic and thats exactly the kind of isekai naruto character into other media fic that I love. Well worldbuilt, some au ing that looks like its going to build up and pay off, magic intersects pretty good, and the tension isnt reliant only on fighting people he largely outclasses.
There was also making Azula into a Uchiha upon reincarnation, which was super rad and fun and I hope it goes somewhere interesting with her causing trouble.
Okay, so, in summary: Stargate and Star Wars, because they empower writers to present the Naruto setting as simply an alternative planet. Interestingly, these are very "US America in Space" settings. It would seem easier to crossover Naruto with something that could give you a more cohesive internal mythos, but you value power scaling and specific modes of conflict more highly. This is notion of comparable power scaling is definitely a popular framework in certain forums, so that makes sense.
I won't really address the substance of the comments you made about the motives of people who write fanfic, or what is good and bad in fic, except to point out that you have presented many narrow opinions as general truths.
For example, you wrote "they just wanted to get x to y but forgot to think of a plot." I don't think they "forgot." Writers know about plots. If a story lacks a plot, it's unlikely to be accidental. This ask leans on a lot of assumptions like this. Without asserting that any of this is good or bad, I will say that in my experience, fandom is not so homogeneous a bunch.
I'm glad you've found fics that meet your needs, though. There's a fandom for everyone! 😌

Random personal opinions with Carbon
osmp!Ranboo has some Eridan vibes
Star trek was a little to focused on having the possibly aro/ace characters have sex, like Odo and Data
non-binary is both an umbrella term and not am umbrella term
dsmp!Technoblade needs some character development or so help me god, his only character traits currently are asshole anarchist, and he's not even a good anarchist, Newsflash buddy destroying an entire city is in fact ✨counterproductive✨ anarchists are meant to dislike government and take care of people not destroy entire cities and not take responsibility for their actions *cough cough executing Tubbo cough cough* I will die on this hill about technoblade and do not get me started on how he treated post-exile Tommy
I know I already said this but I told my friend and they agreed so I'm just gonna say it again but louder
Kanaya is like Pearl from Steven universe just a little bit
what the fuck is up with Vriska, genuinely I do not know, I have not read homestuck
O___O WAIT
OK OK OK so stay with me, stay with me here, on TikTok there have been a bunch of posts talking about "could Starfleet defeat XY and Z militaries from other franchises", So my question is could Starfleet defeat the Alternian military (and I don't know that much about homestuck but do know that alternia does get destroyed in the middle of the comic, so like before alternia it gets destroyed)
and like Starfleet is a very science-based organization so things to consider are
1. does Alternia have warp speed technology (and I'm just going to assume it doesn't but I genuinely don't know and I don't want to look it up), and if it doesn't that would mean alternia falls under the prime directive which means if the enterprise from the next generation gets attacked could they defend themselves without breaking the prime directive? and I am genuinely asking (also I am so sorry for how confusing my way of speaking is, I simply do not know how to make that word vomit more legible though)
2. Data just interacting with a purpleblood
3. Picard just trying to negotiate or something
4. I don't know that much about how the Alternia military works, could someone who knows more tell me things please
5. this isn't even a list anymore
6. someone just write the fanfic.
7. I forgot that I was writing this post
ANYWAY
I have another fanfic idea
this one is a dream SMP and star trek one
uhh okay so
I'm stealing some of these ideas from https://archiveofourown.org/works/32073889/chapters/79455433
which is an amazing fanfic that everyone should read
 anyway
I don't really have a cohesive idea just a couple stray thoughts
okay so
Philza is the captain, Awesamdude is the chief engineer, etc.
and they are all aliens, they have never met humans before, think like when the Vulcans first met humans before starfleet was a thing
and they are having their first human passengers ever
there's been a couple ambassadors, maybe some sciencist exchanges, but never just straight up passengers
and the first human passengers are Dream and Tommy
woOo
and then the plot would basically be Tommy getting into trouble (everyone knows the funny tropes like caffeine is like a controlled substance for aliens or something etc)
|| tw: child abuse ||
and Dream doing his manipulation and child abuse things
and Tommy would try to communicate this to the rest of the crew but it would be really difficult because the entire crew has kind of labeled him as a little troublemaker at this point and and they don't want to assume that dream is being a bad person because he's the first human that has ever been on their ship, abd another idea: Dream using a dermal regenerator that he stole to gaslight Tommy

this is not what i normally post about but having a cohesive blog theme is for losers and i need to rant so…
I watched the tokyo revengers movie and uh i have a lot to say about it. (WARNING!!! SPOILERS AHEAD) we gonna go deep
Let me start off by saying that i really like the TR manga. im also enjoying the anime even if it hasn’t gotten very far. The movie is another story.
Why any of these (bad) live action anime movies (TR, death note, bleach, etc…) exist is beyond me. Why would you try to condense chapters and chapters of plot and character development into 2 hours? It just ends up leaving out so much and making everything rushed and shallow.
First and foremost, the movie only covers a tiny bit of the TR storyline which leaves so many unanswered questions. Stopping draken from dying doesn’t stop kisaki which means that hina should still die (which she does in the og). The entire reason takemichi goes back in time willingly is to stop kisaki and mikey from meeting because that’s what kills hina. He literally DIDNT DO THAT so things being magically fixed MAKES NO SENSE. They leave the plot completely unresolved which makes me wonder why they tried to make a movie at all. They foreshadow kisaki as a major antagonist but the movie never actually gets far enough to show him really doing anything important.
That leads me to my next point: that kisaki is a really good villian. Understanding his background and motivation is really important to appreciating him as a character, but the movie gives no indication of why he wants to kill hina or why he’s manipulating mikey. if they were going to make another movie, that would have made sense, but if they were planning to do that, they would have just made a live action tv show instead, so i think its safe to assume this is all we’re getting. TR as a whole revolves around kisakis goals because he has SUCH strong motivation to get what he wants. Without insight into kisaki, the plot is full of holes. Why is kisaki manipulating mikey? Because mikey is his best tool to destroy takemichi. And why does he want to do that? Because hina likes takemichi. Understanding that kisaki is trying to sabatoge the relationship between takemichi and hina makes the rest of the pieces fall into place. Without it, the plot doesn’t make sense.
And then there’s mikey’s character. Similar to kisaki, understanding what mikey has been through is fundamental to understanding his character. The primary example of this is his brother’s death. In the movie, Mikey mentioned that his brother died. And that’s it. they just uh kind of forgot to mention that his brother was MURDERED BY ONE OF HIS BEST FRIENDS. Like ???? The duality of mikey is used for comedy but it also represents the inner turmoil he is going through. He loves and cherishes his friends, and he’s still a literal child, but he’s been through some serious shit. Enough to make him ready to murder kazutora (who doesn’t exist in the movie even though he played a very important role in shaping mikeys character (for reasons mentioned above) that is completely ignored). Baji (who also doesn’t exist in the movie) is also a very important person to mikey. Mikey thinking baji betrayed him really impacts him, and seeing that as well as how strong their friendship was and how much they cared about each other (like seeing baji get beat up to protect mikeys bike and mikey telling him that baji is far more important) helps to humanize mikey despite all the questionable things he’s done. Im not gonna try to argue that mikey is a good person, but the movie didn’t have enough time to show his feelings that has suppressed that make him understandable and likeable.
Also i just really love baji and im sad they cut him out.
Last thing: emma. Emma is important to both mikey and draken, and completely cutting her out was a low blow. She lets us see softer sides of mikey and draken as well as being a friend to hina, which helps hina be more supportive of takemichis involvement with toman and mikey. Also she is mikeys sister and hes a main character so it’s weird yhat they didn’t even mention her.
Anyway ill shut up now but to whoever is deciding to make these live action anime movies: PLEASE. STOP. im begging you. I cant take any more complete decimation of good series.

1 I too think they put too much effort in the show (an I appreciate it); they really did try to keep the main storylines, and give their own interpretations simultaneously. But if they changed the story from a Stark one into a Lannister one, raised Dany to a misunderstood hero, changed Tyrion's ending (who is a basic villain for the plot progression), why would I believe that Jon's ending is what they gave us? Their credibility is at least lacking (esp bc Ghost is missing an ear, lol). They
2 turned the main hero into D's fanboy when there's enough evidence to point to a Stark-Targ conflict. If Jon ends up in the Wall, which might happen, at least in the books it will be abt sth meaningful, like battling against Dany, thereby contributing to KL's destruction, which the show also tried to give (on their own terms), not bc he loved his child-murdering bitch. Although they might have given to Tyrion Jon's ending, perpetual service for the good of the people he destoyed by opposing D.
3 All in all, I don't think D&D have much credibility with what they did. The ending is there: Dany dead, KL destroyed, Bran king. The rest with all the changes they effected is at the very least negotiable. Excuse the rant, E.
(continuation of this convo)
I don’t mind rants! I'm a big fan of getting it all out.
I totally agree that they did a strange combo of Martin's ideas and theirs even when those two versions of the characters were no longer compatible. It didn't hit me that they were essentially running two concurrent stories until s7-8 (I was a show watcher and hadn't read the books until the long hiatus) when Jon was just totally opposed to himself in scene after scene.
They really should have just dropped all of Martin's stuff because it made their story incomprehensible, and the blending of ideas totally failed to convey Martin's anyway. Then, as stupid as their story might have been, at least it could have been cohesive. Like, fine, Dany is a good person who shouldn't be judged for the occasional misstep of burning people alive and Jon is a naive lamb who simply does as he is told, and Bran and Sansa are the dark forces that manipulate our heroes until they get their thrones. Come on! It would have been funny! It wouldn't be the "real" story, but if D&D had just decided to go for it we wouldn't have had the implication of those things while also having their actions contradict that interpretation. They really forgot that this wasn't a normal tv show, characters can't revolve through characterizations without the meaning being lost. Their failure to see how much the ending mattered (and therefore set up for it) meant that in the end, everything that came before felt futile.
All the same, I don’t get that upset by D&D’s stupid comments in interviews because I don’t think they’re honest about the how/why they made decisions. They were making a TV show, they needed a big event to hang each season on, moments in episodes that got people talking, and that’s what their goal was. They failed spectacularly in writing the story, but when it came to what they wanted to do (getting stuff to trend/prompt articles/grow their audience etc), they were very successful.
RE: Jon's ending, you're right that going to the Wall could be it and that also, we really can't trust D&D to have delivered a faithful version of his ending because of everything else they did to him. I mean, why make him loyal to Dany unless you're trying to justify his punishment? So weird that they turned him into a pretzel that would deserve some kind of punishment, and then, punished him for the thing everyone would be happy about?
When I think about the possibility of his ending at the Wall, I think the implications it has for others things is the strongest argument against it. I am not sure how he is involved in the destruction of KL if Bran is to be chosen king. How much distance Bran can create between himself and his brother/cousin/king to allow that? It seems un-doable to me.
I listed most of my objections here, a big one of which is justice and how can Bran be delivering justice if this is Jon's end?
I think there are many ways this ending for Jon doesn't make sense. Like, are the Others still a problem? If they are, how is it possible to protect Westeros without a Wall? How will the Watch be worth anything without one? They need it? How will they rebuild it? And in the books, wont it be a genuine, the whole fucking thing comes down, not just a little chunk?
Oh, the others are dead? So, the purpose of the Watch is no longer to protect the realm, merely to continue to prevent the FF from coming South? If they're expelled from Westeros rather than settled than what the HELL was the point of making their view sympathetic?? Oh, so they'll be settled South of the nonexistent Wall? Then what the hell is the point of the Watch?
Also, also, I feel like there is too fine a point on the fact that the Watch is corrupt, the vows anti-human, it's existence abused by people who want to disappear inconvenient offspring. If in the end Jon is sentenced there, I'm suddenly supposed to think this is an institution worth saving? Let's say Jon does participate in the destruction of KL. Let's say he somehow fails his people or the people of KL. His ending at the Wall is still bullshit because even if he "deserves" to suffer, continuing the Watch would mean subjecting other people to the suffering he endured. How gross. We have met too many people who are there who don't deserve to be for that to be okay.
So, I think if any ending was wrong, it was Jon’s. I know a lot of people want Tyrion dead or at the Wall, but there is that moment in AGOT about his shadow being that of a king, so I think it’s possible a villain “wins” or ends up in power. I suppose that could just be the impact he has on the events, rather than him ending up in a position of power, but as much as I thought he would die in the show, I’m not so sure Martin wants everything too neat and nice. Maybe Bran gives him the position as hand as part of getting him to agree to annul his marriage to Sansa. Who knows.

Hc inverse au! Fem Reader in Victorian era England and ynm characters are in our time.
You are a character in an anime and ynm are in real life
Williams
( he seems like the type to be into really dense, historical mangas)
He first read a manga featuring you when one of his students left their copy on their desk and he had to overview some students while they were using the presentation room.
He mostly just sat in the first row while the group of teens were recording hamlet for the theater class.
He didn't really took the story seriously so he started reading a lady who was trying to seduce a noble for a few pages, he was about to leave the manga given that he supposed it was a hentai but when you poisoned them with the wine cup he found it interesting
The main character had a set of very strong ideals that weren't so common in the historical context, be it strip nobles and royals from benefits, be a suffragette, or something similar .He ate the manga in five minutes
When he returns home (and leaves the item in lost objects, ofc) he checks online to buy the first volume to see if the background and sort are interesting along with every other volume and official light novel and Novella . He usually isn't home from very early to very late at night so it would be Louis most likely the one who receives the box with the books
"Brother, did you buy a box full of comics" Louis asks from the kitchen after he feels his older brother returning home
" oh? They already arrived? I thought they would be here next week" well Louis always was worries about how his brother didn't have any hobbies aside from teaching at the University so he was happy that he found something else to do with his life
He would ask for a sick day on a Monday or Friday so he could plan everything that was needed at his class that day and spend the weekend lazing around and reading the various volumes and the light novels. That day Louis and albert almost cried of happiness, that was the first time he took a sick day in all of his teaching years to take a break
The type of fan who creates theories that everything is symbolism, how they are ambidextrous to show that even if they intend good sometimes their methods are too extreme or how their hat was placed or the color of their clothes show their political affiliation. Nothing can be just a coincidence with him, everything means something
Is a big pain in the ass about historical inaccuracies, be it dress, manners or social hierarchy being off
" But listen this is the late Victorian era, where is their crinoline??/ They are supposed to be a Victorian dandy and the writer wants me to believe they would wear that? In that society?" williams turned on the lights to his younger brother room while walking in circles as if he was trying to calm down
" Williams it's 3 am. Please I want to sleep"
" Oh and don't let me get started when they crossdressed/dressed as lady northinburg, that tight lacing scene made me so angry" he was dragging his words, Louis guessed he was sleep drunk " how much I hate that, karolina or bernadette would kill those producers if they saw it" Louis simply opted to sleep while his brother was ranting about how the hairstyles were al wrong
When speaking of merchandising he appreciates his mature and elegant reputation so he would buy small things like cute stationery and notebooks and a few pens. Most of them either are about the main character, you, or have the anime title or something similar
A few students think that the professor brings some childish pens in case some student forgets one and he doesn't have to give them his mechanical pencil. He actually uses those pens when he is grading the exams. His notebook annotations look a lot cleaner and are more colorfully bc of the markers and pens
When and if your manga gets and anime he would be 100 percent bitching about how they skipped, if you are a minor character, scenes where you are introduced or you character gets development.
" Oh my goodness, they skipped to this ark? And 'the mask'? In that ark we get the development of many characters, yn, edward, Amélie, Alex. We are absolutely robed of their backgrounds and aspirations and how they are all connected"
" Brother be honest with yourself, you only wanted more animated yn, you follow their voice actor on twitter"
" That is not my point!"
Albert
he was watching it when he came late
Albert usually keeps company to his youngest brother until around 5-6 pm, then he leaves for work and returns around 12 am and eats dinner alone mostly.
When he returns from his job the house is more often than not totally dark so he makes his way to the kitchen and microwaves the leftovers and eats silently.
But one day it seems like Louis or williams forgot to turn off the TV before going to bed, he was about to turn it off but decided that watching something with the tv muted wouldn't wake his brothers up and kept watching.
He didn't pay much attention to it at the start but it became routine, he comes home, heats the food, sits down and watches that show so he grew quite fond of it
How much attention he pays to it depends on the type of plot it has, if it is light-hearted humor he would most likely not pay much attention but laugh when a joke came, one the other hand, if it's a more serious he would find it hard to take his eyes away from the screen
Second least likely to buy merchandising, if he buys it's mostly to wear home, a one size too big shirt for a pj (mostly for the comedy anime) or, if they aren't childish and look professional maybe a pocket watch like the one x character uses ( in the more serious one)
Won't buy the mangas if there are any because he is happy watching the animated version and already has to read a lot at work, but if he is gifted the volumes he will read them sparingly, maybe he will finish one volume every week and a half, unlike williams.
Louis
He spends most of his time home because of his illness and doesn't like to stress too much given that it makes the symptoms worse, he enjoys light hearted comedies or cooking in the victorian era or those typical time travelers who now have to live in different situations than those they are used to
He most likely found it after doing all the housework and being bored so he opted to browse the TV or netflix and fell on one specific serie
If it is a comedy he will listen to it while cleaning or cooking, he feels like he does everything faster and the housework is more enjoyable that way.
If it's a cooking related program he will watch as entertainment after doing everything and to get ideas what to cook, he is always surprised with the recipes that your character comes up with, be them savory ( things he will absolutely do the next day for lunch or dinner) or sweet ( things he will make more sparingly given he can't have too much sugar). I think of mangas and series like the duchess' 50 te recipes or shokugeki no soma
If it the third option he was interested on the alternatives to modern things, like how to make a more natural soap with animal fat and wood ash, or how to use certain plants to help a headache or stomach bug.
With merchandising he doesn't buy much, some kitchenware and some bowls mugs and maybe a tea set that isn't much of an eyesore. Overall he isn't all that crazy over that kind of things if there is a cooking book he will definitely buy it
He, like albert, doesn't care much about historical accuracy and if the events that happen are cohesive, he is there to have fun
Fred
He watched it because he heard his classmates talk about it and wanted to join them but was too scared to bother them if he didn't know anything. Baby has the social abilities of an anxious lobster
He comes home from college and looks the anime up in his phone and, like every broke college student, he watches it from an illegal streaming service.
He gets hooked up and stays all night watching it until his clock snaps him out of his trance and makes him drag his feet to his 7:30 am class
Fred tries and fails to talk to the group so, after the lesson, he drags himself to his room to be miserable alone. It's not until he reaches a certain chapter or episode where you say something that make him think, " if you wish to be loved you must face first your fear to be known" he keeps thinking about it, he didn't truly ever talk to the group, he cowarded before even trying.
The next week at that same lecture he approaches the group and tries to make some small talk
" Oh hey uhm i heard the past class that you liked (maga name)" he was this close to running to his desk and act as if nothing happened
" Yeah! You like it too?" The boy seemed to notice fred was nervous
" Yes! I really like it, what is you favorite character? Mine is yn" he certainly didn't have any favorite one before but after this he thinks your character is pretty good " they are really inspiring"
In terms of merch he is broke so there is none, If he had any money to spare he would buy notebooks and even those chibi statues or funko pops
