I think about this interview a lot.

I think about how Jenkins thinks queer romances end up tragic/unrequited.

How these queer romantic characters deserve a happy ending.

How he gave this as an answer to the question about the death of the one character whose arc was very much queer and very much not romantic.

Its great to be able to see yourself in fairytale romances.

It would be still more amazing if those of us for whom romance was not in the picture and probably will never be could see our fantastical queer happy endings too....

But of course... How could you possibly tell happy queer stories without romance. Being queer is all about Love is Love after all /s

To keep it humble, now lets look at one of my least favorites I drew for Funguary. I don't even think it's *bad* it's just that I don't like it. I was still trying new brushes, new styles, and It was just one of those days it isn't all coming together like you hope it will. It can be really discouraging when you find yourself in that position, but that's just how art is.

And, real talk? It makes looking back at my favorites even better. Because yeah I don't like this one and yeah I just wasnt able to execute the idea that was in my head to the standard I wanted, but it's not because i'm not capable and just a few images away in my Funguary folder is proof of that. Maybe sometimes I'm drawing like this, but it makes the times when I bust out the glowshroom even better.

This one cannot be bought on redbubble currently. If this somehow breaks containment and it turns out someone really wants this I'll be happy to put it up for you, but it didn't bring me joy, so it hasn't gone on the shelf yet.

okay heres the thing. I genuinely don't understand where people are getting that the diamonds were redeemed?

Because, in the show, they pretty clearly were not.

By the end of the original show, they were neutralized. They were no longer a threat, but an asset. They realized they were wrong and had to stop.

By the movie, they were doing good things mostly to cling to the last bit of power that they had. And a bit because they did feel bad.

By Future they were doing better, but still learning. They felt bad and were starting the long process of righting their many wrongs. Still not redeemed by a long shot, but they were finally on the right path.

That was pretty clear to me while watching the show. I never thought the diamond's got a redemption arc. Or that they suddenly became good. Steven just did what he always does and neutralized the threat. I am sure that if White Diamond had instead doubled down on her beliefs, he would have actually defeated her somehow (we saw that many times in the show, the clearest examples being Eyeball and Bismuth).

There were plenty of things in the show that went over my head. I just think that one was pretty obvious, so I legitimately cannot understand why people think otherwise.

If I had to guess, it's because of the other characters in the show that DO get redeemed, and whose arcs fully play out. But even then, you can compare the diamond arc to the arc of literally any other character and see that it is incomplete.

Marble hornets not having much of a visually distinctive cast can be really frustrating, especially when ur first watching it. Then multiply that frustration 10x because of all the visual distortion/glitching. But nowadays I'm p thankful bcs wanting to make mh fanart is what pushed me to put more effort into drawing faces and making faces look distinctive from each other.

#literally a characters face and a few minor details abt their outfit r the only things u have to tell them apart sometimes. #right? and thats fine for other shows that have lighting and arent shot on a go pro from 2009 in the middle of the woods at night #put it all together and they can be a bit difficult to tell apart if you dont know whats going on #couple that with middle school me's much simpler anime art style and youve got a recipe for idk who the fuck is who or whats going on #and this. dear friends is why ive become hell bent on avoiding same face syndrome or ehatever u call it. #if my audience can't differentiate between my blorbos pray tell what is the point? there isnt one. id explode #idk. every time i see a mh fanart and cant tell whos who by the faces i die a little bit on the inside /hj #just bcs the actors do have striking faces like. i am not forgetting jays weird little bug eyed stare even if i wanted to his face #is cemented in my brain. like they have nice and memorable faces thatre actually pretty easy to simplify while maintaining likeness #yallre just losers. booooooo!!!!!!! #joking draw how u please idc but it does throw me for a loop. #anyways. thank you troy wagner for forcing me to get better at drawing. again. all my creative growth can be tracked down to MH if u try har #d enough
