Jikookers made it to be romantic while Fandom made it to a joke 'JK always copy Jimin' (ofcourse). I've seen you making multiple posts about Jikook concept pics being match is a proof of them being a couple when in reality Hybe don't even take permission of original artist before using their ideas for another. One hybe label just got into trouble for copying newjeans and according to CEO min heejin it was BANG SHIHYUK who wanted to copy newjeans to create a second version of them through illit. Was it JK's fault ? Hello! I got a new sketchbook and I decided to try it by drawing a Danny with my markers. I might try doing something with gouache too, because I honestly really enjoy the process and the look of painting with it.

I also have some things to ramble about under the line, which isn't strictly dp related, more so me comparing how I work with different mediums and being a little analytical about it, you know, as a treat to my brain because it needs it. •^•

So, to start with the Danny above, it's nothing overly ambitious, I was just vibing, but I think it looks nice. Here's the thing though, it looks weird to me, and the reason, probably, is that the process I use with the previously mentioned gouache doesn't translate well to markers.

Here's the process in question btw, a smol sketch to illustrate the way I work with paint but with markers:

See, that's a process that's clearly a bit more suited to painting imo. So it looks good but a little off with markers. And it's not just to markers. Here's what I mean:

This is digital. With the same process.

It's even weirder than the markers imo, but you can still tell that there's a process going on that's shared.

And the gouache version of this process looks like this: this is my most recent painting ( literally yesterday )

This was done in flat brush, and I think you can clearly see that the process I used across all these paintings started with my gouache work. Which also might be why Danny looks a bit different than them because I had to adjust my process. Rather than starting with colouring my canvas and starting the face with a contrasting colour, both Danny, and as far as I can remember the digital dude, started blank and I had to do the glow effect thing a lot less naturally - especially with the lack of brush strokes. The scratchiness of them is aesthetic. Like, brush stroke and direction is important guys, it adds a lot.

I think if I try to draw this Danny in gouache and explain my process better this would all make sense, but I haven't had the time to get back into art because of uni, and I rather like to. I especially want to try doing digital art again, but I've been doing it so rarely that I haven't really got a process anymore, so I'm a bit intimidated to do anything but portraits.

In any case, if anybody has good Sai brushes that could help me get that painterly vibe there, I'd be very grateful •^•

I want to start drawing and creating things for the Phandom again, but all I have currently are sketches, which I know aren't traditionally the easiest things to interact with visually, especially without colour. Still, I'm just going to share things I make and vibe, I suppose.

I have some interesting designs I'd like to try to make digitally, like that mermaid lady ghost from a while back, and her sister who I decided was Pariah Dark's fabulous ex. Still not sure on Queen's design, but I just want to draw a regal lady.

Yes, I am dumping previous designs here so I can share them again, partly to remind myself of them without scrolling back my Tumblr for a thousand years.

Also my Bois, the clones, who I still want to write into a story and don't know how, but like - I love them and want to show them to more people.

bundletober #13: blazing hymn

alright i've fallen behind on bundletober (the series of blog posts where i review and talk about a ttrpg i got in a bundle every day) and am hoping to make up the difference by putting out two entries today. this is the first one, and i'm looking at the mecha-piloting, synthetic-armour wearing, blaspheming-against-God-and-his-angels game blazing hymn by peach garden games.

now sadly this game is not a lyric/blackout poetry game about rewriting church hymns to be about gay sex. someone should make that btw. no it's just about wearing highly advanced battlesuits powered by the song of your heart to kill aliens with weapons of pure energy. which is about as cool.

first off, the layout of this game is unique and stylish. there are hexagons everywhere:

the game puts sparse splashes of dreamy pastel colours amid a constantly shifting set of black and white hexagons. it gives the book a visual identity that is at once both visually distinct and also changing massively from page to page. it's a really cool way to mix things up and keep you wanting to turn the page if just to keep seeing what the next one even looks like.

what's the game about? simple. angels have come to earth to destroy it badly. with the power of song, young people can power specially designed battlesuits, called Hymnals, that when not activated collapse down into crystal necklaces. it's a pretty anime concept--the game is pretty open about being inspired by Evangelion and Symphogear, neither of which i've actually seen--but it's cool as hell. the aesthetics of the layout really help bring the aesthetics of the game itself, of technology and ethereal mysticism merged into one thing, to life.

the game uses a pretty simple three-stat system where you build dice pools with a state relevant to an action and can get a full success, mixed success, or failure, depending on what you roll. your characters have two resources, Health, which is what it sounds like, and Gain, which is essentially magical power. because you can swap Health for Gain and Gain for Health at a 1-1 ratio with no restrictions, i'm not really sure why they're separate things--seems like a missed opportunity to not only simplify the mechanics but also create a strong mechanical narrative element by making Gain the only thing that keeps you going--once your song is silenced, you're out.

to create a character, you pick from one of six unit classes--here's where i'd describe the six classes, but honestly, they don't quite feel distinct enough. a lot of the powers you can pick for each hymnal class feel very similar, or are outright overlapping in a lot of cases. this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but the descriptions of the hymnals, while trying to clarify their combat roles, all end up seeming to repeat themselves or say contradictory things. i think some direct ties between those descriptions and their mechanics would have helped--i'd find it a lot easier to remember that, for example, the 05 Xyston type "brutal in combat" if that flavour text was followed by a direct reference to one or more of its abilities. they do all have pretty different stats--which, in a game with a very simple and elegant combat system, means i'm confident they play very differently once you hit the table. but just looking at them, as a prospective player, i struggle to tell the difference.

i don't have that problem with the next character creation mechanic, though, which is choosing the songs you sing to power your hymnal. each song, as well as a thematically appropriate set of stat boosts, also prompts a pair of revealing character questions. they're the kind of mechanic that i want to get my hands on because they make it fun to create characters, giving real mechanical expression to the emotional fundamentals of who they are.

the combat system itself seems really, really good. it's astoundingly simple--you're encouraged to use a map, but there's no fiddly grid or distance tracking, just the ability to move between being Close, Near, or Far from an enemy. it keeps the numbers low to keep it getting silly and doesn't bother with any of the unecessary bookkeeping and fiddliness that plagues TTRPG combat as a whole. no initiative, no separate turns--there's a 'player' turn and a GM turn, and during the GM turn the GM picks from enemy's listed actions until they've done two for each player. players can use their abilities on the GM turn, and the game encourages the GM to take enemy actions that wil lforce them to--so nobody's ever standing around twiddling their thumbs waiting for the whole table to rotate back to them, and having a lot of enemies doesn't mean the players listen to the GM talk for fifteen minutes.

there's two unique mechanics that i think are very interesting-- Civilians and Condemnation. Civilians are--well, exactly what they sound like. on their turn, players can use an action to evacutate up to 5 of them. this extremely small and simple mechanic is fucking genius. so many games tell you they're about saving innocent people, but yet the only mechanical verbs you have to interact with anyone are violent ones. as elaine scarry says in the body in pain:

so in a way i think blazing hymn puts its money where its mouth is in a way very few combat rpgs with emancipatory or heroic aspirations bother. angels are said to attack populated areas--you're sent to preserve life as well as destroy the enemy. it makes the game feel fundamentally different, like despite the questionable ethics of hymnals (after all, they only work on young people, who then have to be sent into deadly combat situations) there is something heroic you can do.

the second cool mechanic is condemnation, a reality-warping toxin that angels use to destroy the places they're sent to. this rocks because it adds a ticking timer to the battlefield, a passive threat that forces the player characters to be proactive. if condemnation gets too high, not only is the fight going to get harder, but civilians are going to die en masse. it's a great piece of game design that gives the GM a great lever to pull for pacing and urgency.

i also really like that one of the steps of the GM turn is to 'change the situation', whether that means something happens in the narrative or something on the map changes (a train arriving is the example the book gives) or more angels attack. in general, one of my biggest complaitns about d&d is that unless a DM takes it upon themselves to design additional mechanics and encounters outside of anything the game actually gives them, combat inevitably turns into two lines of people hitting each other with sticks until one of them dies. i love dynamic, progressing combat, combat where the stakes change moment to moment. and blazing hymn delivers.

anything else? oh yeah, the angel designs are cool as fuck.

god damn. anyway despite a few minor issues with the hymnals themselves, the core of blazing hymnal is fucking good, a nice tight and razor-sharp combat system wrapped up in pulsing pastel crystalline aesthetics. if you like cool anime fights and like having the rules to back it up but hate complexity, crunch, and tedium, this might be the perfect game for you. it's certainly given me a lot of cool design ideas to take foreward into my own projects.

@overrgrown, never apologize for asking questions, but I've actually been asked this before by bengiyo. You can find my write up HERE, but the short version of that post is I've always seen colors; therefore, I've always attached meaning to them, even if the meaning was not valid.

TLWR: Appreciate the artists who work on these shows, not me.

In bengiyo's ask, I stated that when I was younger, I thought the colors were showing me what was good and what was bad. That's it. In my defense, I was a kid, so everything really was good or bad in my book with no in-between.

Even though I've always seen colors, and it comes very naturally to me, the meaning I attached to them when I was younger was very much based on who I was rather than what was being shown to me. Five-year old me thought if someone was dressed all in red that they were the devil. Adult me now knows that isn't always the case. Adult me also knows that red in American (United States) culture means something different than other cultures.

Not a flex, just a fact, but I have several degrees in languages, linguistics, and rhetoric. What they are in is not super important, but, in general, a formal education has greatly helped me infer meaning from what I'm visually seeing in the media I consume. My degrees are not in film or communications, yet I've taken undergrad and grad-level courses like Visual Media, Multimedia and Visual Communication, Language of Film, Digital Narratives, Cinematography and Lighting, Film Theory & Criticism, Queer Cinema History, Spanish Film & Feminism, and many more all because under this great big academic umbrella of rhetoric and composition lies storytelling.

And that's what this is really about - How do we tell a story? Regardless if that story is a simple flyer for a school bake sale, a 30-second commercial advertising cleaning wipes, or a 12-episode BL series, how do we get the message across? We can't just rely on ONE thing! We have to use as many things as possible! So when I'm watching a BL series, I'm just not paying attention to the words being spoken or the acting alone. No, I'm paying to the background noise. What do the clothes tell me about the character? What does his apartment tell me about him? And what do the colors mean?! All of it is important!

I've mentioned this before but I serve on a screening committee for a queer film festival. I actually got involved with the film festival as an undergrad because of one of the film courses. This has allowed me the opportunity to speak to several filmmakers about their process, and all of them have confirmed that the colors were intentional. People who deal with props and costume design have spoken to me about trying to find very specific items that reinforce the story being told. Oh, and theater is a whole different level. Because of the nature of the stage versus film, if it is on the stage, it must have a reason for being there.

Basically, people who work in visual media work really fucking hard, which you probably know since you love lighting. Most times, 12-hour days are the average, if not longer. This video does a good job of briefly covering the work that goes into costume design, and I timestamped it to begin at the part that covers colors.

I love seeing colors. I love deciphering them. I love the story they tell.

But they wouldn't be there if the hardworking people behind them didn't do their job, and those are the people who I appreciate.

So, as always, I'm thankful that you let me know I'm helping you see the beauty is in the details, but I'm really just here to admire the beauty with you.

And my GOD have I thought about this. It is currently 10:03PM and I have school tomorrow, lets see how long this takes me.

Right- Generally speaking, any chapter they're in school, they're wearing a uniform. Most of this stuff is based on what I know from the uk so 💀 yeah, it's a school uniform. That means, a collared short sleeve shirt, red tie(honestly it doesn't need to be red, I just randomly picked one), and black trousers.

Chuuya's wardrobe I feel would consist of patched denim shorts and jeans, jeans probably ripped at the knees. Dark colours mainly for other types of trousers, think black and greyish.

T-shirts, second hand band tees that are probably a little worn mostly, his parents do well but he isn't rich + he's a middle child, he probably doesn't own a lot of first hand clothing. I'd say oversized flannel or tartan shirts, either worn loosely over shirts or tied around his waist(Think very grungy. It's getting into summer, so tied around his waist is more likely)

The big thing is that most of the time so far, unless he's at school he's been wearing the hoodie Dazai gave him(black + red stitching, detailed better in the actual fic😔), so it'd make sense for him to be wearing it, unless at school, or post his parents finding out.

Generally, he's rather grunge but put together, he looks nice, and generally presentable.

DAZAI HOWEVER, LIVES OFF HIS BEDROOM FLOOR.

While Dazai has clothes, he doesn't actually wear much of them. With Dazai, I think black or tan trousers when he's not in uniform, the same two pairs. The black ones more commonly, so probably more worn.

If Chuuya would wear the t-shirt, Dazai would too. Generally, I think most of the t-shirts Dazai would wear would be stolen from Chuuya, so yeah! If Chuuya'd wear it, Dazai would.

Same with hoodies, but obvs Dazai is slightly different. Generally with dressing Dazai/his clothes, this au Dazai is still in his emoish phase, so stick to black and earth tones- blue, green, brown.

A few extra details!!! I've never said it explicitly, but Dazai isn't wearing bandages over his face, just his neck and arms. Chuuya's ears are also pierced, Kouyou got him earrings for his birthday. How many piercings that is? Idc go wild bro's sixteen and his parents are rather chill, he probably has a few. I don't know if this is the level of detail you were looking for, but for Chuuya, with shoes I'd say boots or like converse. For Dazai- it's actually specified that he wears a pair of like BATTERED high top black converse so :D

I feel it's fair to mention that Dazai and Chuuya are still rather rough and tumble teens, they're both depressed as shit rn and not going out to cause chaos like they normally would- but they still dress like they're prepared too. So a little unkempt and scruffy is a fairly accurate department of how they likely look half the time.

Ohhhh the d-block elements are really cool! The d-orbitals are funky, what you're asking about here is pretty interesting. I wish I could help you with both of these concepts, but unfortunately we haven't covered catalysis yet, so I really don't feel qualified enough to talk about it. I can explain the part about changing colors though. It's all about the electrons, as usual <3

[Btw I'm actually studying this sort of thing in inorganic chem :D pchem is a whole different bag of bananas.]

So, the d-orbitals. I'm going to assume you're familiar with orbital diagrams - they'll come in handy here. With that in mind, please consider the following ions: Ti(4+), Cu(+), both of which are colorless, and then: Ti(3+) (purple) and Cu(2+) (blue). Sc(3+), Y(3+), and Zn(2+) are also colorless. See a pattern here? If not, let me help you out:

As you can see, all the colorless ions have either full or totally empty outer d-orbitals, while the colorful ions have unpaired electrons on their outer d-subshell.

Quick and necessary digression: why are things colorful anyway? You probably know what the general mechanism here is, but just in case you don't, the simplest explanation is that when a photon hits an electron in an atom, the electron can then jump up to a higher shell. Electrons don't like staying up there though, so an excited electron will quickly jump back down to its original shell and release a photon in the process - which we see as colors .

[Yes, it is more complicated than that. Yes, I did greatly simplify it. Please don't throw anything at me, dear physicist friends.]

Now, back to our orbitals.

If an ion's outer d-orbital is full, it means the electrons there have no space to "move". They can't jump from one square (or rather from one orbital) to another because as per Pauli's exclusion principle, there can only be two electrons in a single orbital. Similarly, if there are no electrons whatsoever in the d-orbitals, there's nothing to "jump". Duh. The substance is colorless.

However, unpaired electrons mean there's at least one square (orbital) that can still accommodate one extra electron without breaking Mr Pauli's heart. As photons hit the d-orbital electrons, they keep "moving up and down" and releasing photons in turn - which gives them their color.

This, too, is a huge simplification. In fact, the d-orbitals can also split into levels of different energy and it's those levels that the electrons actually jump between. It's called the crystal field theory and you can look it up if you really want to start crying violently and having nightmares every night. If you aren't in uni yet though, it really isn't necessary. I think my explanation should be enough. I sure do hope it can be helpful :)

Do you have any tips or good tutorial links for getting started using the hair tools in Blender? They seem intimidating, but your models look fantastic

sorry I uuuh don't watch tutorials (evil) I just fucked around for years until it suddenly clicked. So here's a few things, not sure if they'll be useful or not

also blenders particle system fur isn't being worked on anymore and is getting glitchier by the update so maybe look into geometry node fur (I haven't) (evil) also everything under the cut is assuming you know absolutely nothing about hair

this is based on blender 3.5 btw

create a particle system, put it to your desired length (short fur is usually longer than you expect) then set the number to 0, then you can use the add tool to get a symmetrical groom

the strands you add are just to guide all the fur, in areas that curve a lot add more to prevent clipping

puff brush is best girl

once you've finished your groom you can create a weight map to control the furs density (you can also make some for clumping and randomness and shit) (I usually don't) (mostly because I'm lazy) then go to children > interpolated and select your weight map in the density zoneland, if your computers beefy and/or you want a better idea of what it will look like you can change the viewport amount of particles to 100 (or whatever)

go render properties > curves and change it to strip (you don't need to do this using cycles) then back into particle properties under hair shape to change the diameter root length from 1 to whatever looks best (uber dependent on what size your model is, I usually go with 0.08)

oh fuck I forgot to mention you gotta do different systems for the head, neck, body, whatever. It makes it easier and is better for lag

roughness is pretty important for making animal-ish fur too, here's my settings I used for making this face fur, my settings for all my particle systems are pretty consistent but it's also pretty dependent on your models size

here;s some other things I forgot and can't be bothered to go back and add

selecting this thing will let you select groups

uuuuuh I think that's it on the groom itself onto shaders

so they're pretty important to making some nice looking fur, you can make it look fine in eevee but cycles will probably always look more realistic (not to imply eevee isn't best girl it's really good at most things)

in cycles you pretty much just need a principled hair bsdf shader with a few settings tweaked (here's mine for the model above) (also make sure the fur material is different to the skin material)

so for both cycles and eevee your best friend ever is the curves info node (hair info in older versions)

all of these can be pretty useful but the most usefulest ones for me are intercept into a colour ramp makes an ombre from the roots to the tip

and random which adds variation to the strand colour

here's a little breakdown of my cycles shader for her

and eevee, they're pretty similar tbh

BUT also for eevee you need to change a few more things to give your hair weight n shit

in render properties enable ambient occlusion and bloom, then in the settings of your lights enable contact shadows

and one more important thing for nice looking hair is lighting, I find it easier in cycles because it reacts more realistically and rim lighting my beloved, but in eevee it's suuper important to making it not look flat, if doing those settings edits didn't do much it's because of your lighting

1 make your background completely black so you can see what you're doing better

2 add ONE area light and position it, pay attention to how the size, distance, and power affect things and make sure you don't make your model look flat

then you can add a rim light (duplicate the area light and reposition) if you want to give your character some extra highlighting, although good fucking luck if you're using eevee it's probably not worth doing

then you can add an hdri (super good webbed site for them) to be the fill light

having it at full strength tends to flatten the model (especially in eevee)

Is Ghost the actual ruler of limbo or is it his Reaper?

If Ghost is/was the ruler does that make Soap one too now or is it Lumanary?

Do you think things could grow in limbo now (grave dirt + light/warmth= little flowers for the moths?)?

Aside from the tear tracks, new fire and fire colour change do Soap and ghost look different know that they share a reaper/what do they look like actually in limbo?

I'm gonna answer this in a bit of a roundabout way, because I feel like a lot of your questions will be answered if I explain more about Reapers and what makes Limbo so special.

So, in the fic I didn't dive in too deeply into what Reapers are, where they come from, what do they do when they're not meddling with human affairs, etc.

Reapers, as mentioned in the story, are powerful interdimensional beings, with the ability to pull beings into their realms, where they can physically change them. Reapers also have an ability to sense the course of destiny, not always in a clear way, which is why Ghost's Reaper was freaking out at the start. Destiny, by the way, is a pliable thing, and can be changed (as Ghost and Soap did).

Now, Limbo is a very exceptional power among revenants. It's mentioned a few times that the reason Ghost and Soap are so powerful is that they wanted something more than life, they wanted revenge. Therefore, their powers had a different goal than other revenants: Ghost's was to withstand any hostile attack towards him, and Soap's was to protect the people worth protecting.

But Limbo isn't fully just to protect Ghost, is it? It could've been a realm that instantly kills whoever enters it [which it was in earlier version btw], but the victims stay alive, they eventually accept Ghost back and obey his word. Why would that be necessary?

Okay, let's define Limbo. A separate dimension that Ghost can pull any being into, and change it. Like Rudy's Reaper said, Limbo basically works like a Reaper realm.

...Which makes Ghost an interdimensional being.

[This part I thought of just for my own fun, it might change in the future as I haven't written it down until now.]

What if Ghost's Limbo is a Reaper realm? That would make him a sort of very weak Reaper.

What if Limbo's intent was to create a Reaper-in-training?

Cosmically, Soap was supposed to kill Ghost. Both of them have a similar origin, except Soap had a specific revenge. Soap's powers boil down to "able to destroy anything." what about Reaper realms? What if their original fate was for Soap to destroy Limbo, and in extension Ghost, a Reaper to be?

Of course, they changed their fate. Which, by the way, started all the way at chapter 8. If Ghost didn't lose his cool and try to protect Soap, he wouldn't have been able to survive Limbo the second time.

So, when the fic ended, Ghost and Soap were both able to influence Limbo, their Reapers melding together.

Let's go back to your questions:

-Is Ghost the actual ruler of limbo or is it his Reaper?

Ghost. His Reaper can't change Limbo, just like other Reapers can't change its Reaper realm.

-If Ghost is/was the ruler does that make Soap one too now or is it Lumanary?

As the Reaper of Luminary said, they're now revenants of light, its absence and creation. Ghost and Soap share their rule on Limbo, Ghost on the victims (absence) and Soap on the moths (creation). I'm not sure if by Luminary you refer to the Reaper, which like I said can't affect Limbo.

-Do you think things could grow in limbo now (grave dirt + light/warmth= little flowers for the moths?)?

Okay, another tangent lol.

In the deal Reapers strike on a revenant's first death (as seen in the comic I made before the fic), they say "from this day till the day you die you are mine."

It's a concept I haven't expanded on at all, but what happens to a revenant after they die? In short, they're released from the deal, and are no longer under the rule of their Reaper.

As Ghost and Soap are now, alive and under the Reaper of Luminary, they're limited to the powers they were given. So, no, no flowers in Limbo. Yet.

After they die, and released from their Reaper? Suddenly they won't be limited to just those powers.

Sidenote, Limbo as it was acted like purgatory/hell basically. Now that Ghost and Soap rule over it? Could be turned into heaven.

This is the fundamental difference of them as Reapers-in-training. They're basically a classic Reaper now, taking people to the afterlife.

-What do the other reapers think of Luminary?

Before stitching together, the Reaper of the Void (Ghost's) was one of the youngest Reapers out there. That's why it's trying to force Ghost constantly, it's like an overbearing parent with their firstborn child. The Reaper of Destruction (Soap's) was one of the oldest, dating back to the first explosion ever. It was much calmer because of this, it has already seen everything, and had an easier time accepting the new change.

Other Reapers recognized Luminary as a herald of a new age, where humanity can affect Reapers just as they affect them. Whether they reacted well to that or not, I haven't decided yet.

-Aside from the tear tracks, new fire and fire colour change do Soap and ghost look different know that they share a reaper/what do they look like actually in limbo?

Outside of Limbo, beside the changes you listed, they didn't have any other. In Limbo, as you probably know, Ghost's eyes glow white. I imagine if he had his mask off, the tear tracks would as well. Soap's eyes were mentioned to glow as well, but unlike Ghost, the light seems to come from inside him, so his pupils are the only thing that glows.

-Can price read the limbo denizens minds?

If he had the misfortune to enter Limbo, yes, Price could read their minds. Ghost mentions in a very early chapter (3 or 4 I think) that the victims of Limbo have impaired mental capacity, so the experience of reading their mind would be different to that of a normal person.

-Did soap make the sword of Damocles/can he make more things?

As things are currently, he can only use the sword. Ghost's Reaper says Ghost stole light "a sword and a shield". Ghost obviously uses the shield constantly around him throughout the fic, and Soap uses the sword.

-Is there any tidbit or fun little lore bit that you loved but couldn’t fit into the story that you want to share now?

I think I answered that one first actually haha. As a last thing to mention, because Ghost and Soap are what they are, even after they die they would still be together. I didn't think of how Reapers die (if they die), but I'd say Ghost and Soap will have a couple hundred millions years together ahead of them :) [that moment when the cosmic horror turns into cosmic romance]

Thank you for letting me ramble about the magic system in the fic, it's one of my favorite things to figure out, and I always overthink everything so 90% of the details don't end up ever showing up.

warrior cats QSMP AU destroying me rn

Ok basic stuff + mild extras about the blorbos

The og English and Spanish creators, Clanborn. All of them, even if some were of different clans before finding their way to IslandClan, a rather secluded Clan in the middle of a very large lake. They all came there in different ways, some more water-born cats attempting to swim to the other shore on a bet only to be exhausted and drift to the island, the unfortunate being taken on boats by Twolegs, etc. etc.

The Brazilians, ex-shelter cats who escaped the shelter and lived on the streets for a while, before prissy Twolegs, upset that they were maintaining their claim over the streets, found them, sealed them in a cardboard box, and shoved them out to the lake.

The French, idk what their origins should be, but their arrival was by a stupid youtuber dropping bagged cats from drones from clout. They crashed right through IslandClan's thorn barrier around camp btw.

The newest group, still not sure. Maybe a mixed origins? Idk.

Cucurucho is a friendly talking bear :o) Who is a messenger from StarClan (the feds, essentially, look it's hard to merge these universes) :o) Who defo isn't really corrupt and the ones actually running the Clan :o)

Some people's names + roles + some other stuff-

Cellbit - Cellbite, kept the first half of his name that he gained from his vicious streak in the shelter, where he was mostly known for the rattling and eventual breaking or opening of his cage/"cell" doors. Deputy. Had a brief stint in medicine cat training to talk to StarClan more, only thing he can recall is deathberries. Has a tendency to remind everyone of his mate, just as canon Cellbit loves his husband. Technically an atheist (by Warrior's universe terms anyways.) bc he believes StarClan doesn't really have that much power. They were just living cats, no? Death shouldn't grant power or omniscience. Mauled by the "friendly" bear, but isn't believed by many.

Jaiden - Bluebird, has blue fur and is good at catching birds. Warrior, wants to become a medicine cat to see her lost kit again. Trusts Cucurucho, likes talking walks with them, in hopes that maybe StarClan will pass a message to them to ask her to be a medicine cat.

Roier - Spiderrose, very good at climbing trees and has red/rose coloured fur. Warrior. I need to go to sleep. I am running out of ideas.

Bobby - Bouncekit. High energy, silly, dead. Watching over his family and Clan from StarClan. Happy to see Spiderrose and Cellbite together. Misses Bluebird and Spiderrose a lot, aware of StarClan's corruption but can't do anything about it. Hopes Bluebird doesn't become a medicine cat, lest she be caught by StarClan's lies after they start whispering in her ears.

Also feel free to ask questions I leave my askbox open at all times on purpose, replies may be a lil slow bc I'm going to sleep rn and tomorrow I'm catching up on VODs so. Yeah!!

Understand My Ship Meme (7/?): 🐍🍣 Edition

I joined the church of AikuSen recently, so it's time to share another one of these.

What I enjoy most about them as a ship is the tension pre get-together: when Sendou is down bad but doesn't realise, and Aiku is flaunting his interest in men as hard as he can to get Sendou to notice (he doesn't). There's major idiots-in-love vibes.

I also like that they're assholes in different ways. Like, Aiku's this giant, cocky team captain, who gets on with everyone but isn't afraid to throw his weight around. While Sendou's a bratty drama queen, smarting about his place as ace being taken by other players. They bounce off one another deliciously.

The potential for jealousy and possessiveness is a draw for me. And, can't lie, big fan of Aiku calling Sendou his ace. 🫠👌

They're a fun duo, though a blank canvas as far as canon goes. We don't have much detail yet on Sendou, so what I've shared above are my best guesses at his age/height. I hope there's a uptick of interest and content for them when we reach season 2!

I just finished RoN last night and I think the core if this raid makes things "easier" is that imo its smoother.

Like no contradictory mechanics, no memorizing symbols. Its more about pattern recognition and timing then twitch reflexes and pure dps.

So ppl like me who have trouble memorizing symbols but are really good at remembering sequences & patterns had a blast while something like say Vow is an absolute slog for me.

It's interesting to me that Root & Garden both have bad reputations with streames when they both seem to be the most puzzle focused

Root of Nightmares is honestly my favorite Raid I've ever done. Its the first one i want to attempt to get the seal for!

And bc its a different skillset then past raids that i can have an easier time replaying it and enjoying over and over

Yeah, absolutely! The mechanics in Root are simple to understand, but still require a lot of practice and team coordination to execute. You can have one runner do everything smoothly, but if the second runner doesn't, it's a wipe. If add clear doesn't do their job and the adds disrupt the runner, it's a wipe. Pretty much every encounter requires a more or less perfect attempt to succeed. Very little space for mistakes.

To compensate, the mechanics are straightforward and smooth. Not too much juggling of different roles, not too much comm chatter. A lot of people mistake "no need for comms" as "no need for coordination" because they can only concieve of coordination when there's 6 gamer dudebros yelling in their mics and, most importantly for them, when someone has to be a "leader." For Root, you just need every person to understand their role, to sync up with teammates and coordinate through gameplay itself, not comms. Comms are always useful, but for Root you can have multiple people with no mics and minimal need to type something down.

I've seen this mentality with other games as well, most often in competitive pvp. People think that if your comms don't sound like there's 16 monkeys trapped in a cage with a taser, that means there's no team coordination or that something is easy. In most cases, best comms are few and simple so you can focus on your gameplay.

And even with all their yelling about the raid being "easy," dozens of these streamers have not figured out mechanics on the final boss. I sat through Salty's clear actively pulling my hair over the whole team's refusal to LOOK and PAY ATTENTION. Instead, they spent the whole boss fight bitching about things "not making sense," "probably being bugged" and being "a joke encounter with easy dps." All this while actively talking about how they're obviously missing something.

And you know what? Bungie is so committed to inclusivity and accessibility that they made the encounter possible to complete by skipping a mechanic so the streamers can finish the raid. Clearly these streamers are so averse to paying attention and doing a mechanic, and Bungie knows that, so they made an option for speedrunners to do it without having to break their brains on a mechanic that involves one person having to break a boss' crit and telling the team which colour he glows. And btw, skipping a mechanic isn't anything new; for example, being able to completely ignore the scanner augment on Taniks is a feature to speed up the encounter. In both cases, you can skip a part of the encounter and make things go faster, BUT it involves a significant risk and can result in no supers and not enough ammo.

Anyway, Bungie released the numbers!

Total players that entered the raid: 582,428

Unique players that cleared the full raid – i.e., players that got all 4 reward events: 190,459

That's 32%! Barely a third of everyone who tried. This might seem like a lot, especially to elitist goblins, but only one third of everyone who tried, in 48 hours, is not a lot. Also I kept seeing people saying that the number would be higher. Like, people out there genuinely believe that the day 1 was cleared by something like 80% of those who tried. That doesn't even account for hundreds of thousands of players who still aren't trying or raiding at all.

This is a MUCH healthier number for something that is meant to be a community contest and a one of a kind experience that should motivate people to participate. Streamers have invented an arbitrary number of people who are "allowed" to clear day 1 and for them it's 5%. It's a completely imaginary "limit" that only makes sense to them and that Bungie never implied in any way, shape or form. I'm sure Bungie is much happier with more people making attempts (about 130k more players tried Root than KF) and more people successfully finishing it. Streamers can stick 5% up their ass.
