I'm sorry but at this point how can anyone honestly think "Chester" is trying to warn Sam away from the Magnus Institute? The red canary case did seen like a warning on a surface level but it was also the thing that got him looking into the institute in the first place. I think someone or something knew enough about Sam to know he would immediately start looking into the Magnus Institute if it just happened to come up on his first day working in the creepy story mines.
It also, for the record, knew enough about Gwen to send her exactly the piece of info she needed so go after Lena. And knew enough about Lena to send the exact thing that would get her to promote Gwen.
It knew Colin was the only person who knew they are being listened to. It knew enough about Colin to know that he was the one person who might know enough about the program to pose a threat. And it knew how to push his buttons to drive him to the point where he would be forced to leave.
It even seemed to know which voice would unnerve Celia the most. And possibly gave a statement connected to her background/ origins in this universe. This probably made her more open to looking into things with Sam, further egging on his search.
Something is continuing to feed Sam tidbits about the Institute. It's stringing him along and pulling him in. When he was ready to give it up, here comes "Chester" unprompted with a new Magnus institute related case. And now guess who's GOING TO THE DAMN BURNED DOWN RUINS!? these are not warnings, they are deliberate bread crumbs leading Sam exactly where someone wants him to be.
Meanwhile everyone else is being fucked with to some degree, with the exception of Alice. Although her "I do not see it" powers might make her immune.
None of this is an accident! Strings are being pulled! We just don't know why or by who. Are the Archives Boys really in the computer and trying to lead Sam to the Institute for some unknown reason? Is there perhaps some other, possibly malevolent force that's stolen their voices and memories and is using them to draw Sam in for its own unsavory purposes? Only time will tell!
All I know is, the only one trying to warn Sam about anything is Alice and he has for the most part not been listening.

Part 39 was absolutely fantastic, a great set-up for a series finale. Arthur is woefully under prepared to go into the Order of the Fallen Star, he's got many things on his mind and it's going to crash and burn and I can't wait to see how exactly that will happen.
Oh Noel... What a fascinating character, what a callback to the early days of the story! Finding out that he's Roland's old partner, and that he's been in the prison pits was a shock and a half! I absolutely love all the implications, the shape of the larger narrative that's emerging, it's so good!
I think it was extremely reckless of Arthur to spill the beans on John so suddenly, but I'm so glad it worked out and John got to have an actual conversation, a human connection with someone other than Arthur. He needed that so badly. To hear Arthur verbally thank John for his input in a conversation was especially great! And then John forgot...
This makes me perfectly sure that something deeper is wrong with John. It's not just pettiness, it's not resistance against Arthur's agency overpowering his own that he misses things or doesn't remember, there is something deeply off. He would not voluntarily forget a special experience like a conversation. Ever. It is deeply concerning and it makes me wonder if it's because he's a fragment and not a full Entity? That the further he drifts from the King, the more tenuous and shaky his grasp on his identity becomes until he can develop an actual self-image and form a new identity, free from the King. He cannot do that while he's so bound to Arthur. Arthur and John are individuals, but they're also one and the same. The one's mistake becomes the other's, they cannot be seen as separate beings. And for John especially, I think this is detrimental.
I think they need more discussions like they had in this episode where they ask each other what they're thinking about, what's on their mind. I think John needs to develop his sense of self so he can stand on his own without the King. And Arthur needs to respect that individuality more. Because John is right, he is a prisoner in there, as much as he's essential to Arthur.
Another thing I wanted to point out is Arthur's story. Meeting Percival again was a nice callback to a seemingly throwaway side point in an earlier episode, but the jury is still out on how important this second meeting will turn out to be. I feel like it's too coincidental, but we'll see where it goes. But the way Arthur told that story, it definitely means a lot to him. It's very introspective, and I think it reflects Arthur's fear that his end goals are going to be meaningless. Whenever John brings up separating them, Arthur glosses over it or dismisses it. I think he's gotten used to a passenger in his mind, and we already know he doesn't cope well with the absence of John. The woman is an interesting figure in that story. Is he hoping that something else will fill the void once he reaches his destination? I can't quite put my finger on the whole meaning yet, but I can't wait to return here in a year or so and cry about the inevitable gut punch it's going to be.
I'm also extremely amused by John asking if he's ever been in a fight (cold, calculating demeanour of someone not to fuck with my ass lol), promptly followed by one of the most violent beatings in a while. John's shock was delicious, but I think Arthur overdid it slightly lol. That aside, it was pretty funny overall.
In general, this was a great, well-paced episode and I am really looking forward to the next one. It's gonna be a doozy, I can feel it.

Run BTS Mini field day - Part 2
Cr./to the creators of media used in this post.
Have a feeling this is going to be a long one too, perhaps a two parter.
What can I say?
The very last Run BTS episode for the foreseeable future. 😭 😭
And what a doozy it was.
If part 1 had us rofl, this one had us rolling in soap on the floor laughing. It was hysterical.
In a nut shell, we had JM farting (not really but yeah), Jin never having babies (his poor cahoonas),  and lots of slapstick everyone falling all over the place on a soapy surface.
Did I hear someone say slapping?
We had some of that too. Butt slapping, that is. Not to mention some soap wrestling and a happy happy hug.
Tumblr media
So, where to begin?
Perhaps at the beginning? Yep, good advice. I guess I'll start at the beginning, begin at the start.
The first task was balancing the balls, you know, so they don't fall, while walking up the stairs, and this being timed. The one to reach the top, lift his arms and have as many balls still being balanced in the least time was the victor.
Should I give you a spoiler here? Nah, you go watch. Not gonna tell you who won this round. Will give you a hint though, can't help myself... on the one hand it's a little surprising, on the other hand, given last episode, not so much, lol.
Anyways, we had plenty of laughs in this round. RM was super funny. We had the guys teasing Suga again with the "he's confident cause he's done some climbing...Scooba diving....parkour...."
Tumblr media
But JM folks, JM took the cake. Well, of course with help from his dear friend, you know, the one that spills the tea all of the damn time...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The build up we got for JM, all for it to fall into pieces in seconds. 🤣🤣
Tumblr media
And all because of one little innocent comment...
Tumblr media
Yeah, I kind of don't want to say this, but heck, I can't help myself, it's a must... from there things turn to shit. 🤣 🤣
Tumblr media
Suga: "TMI", RM: "don't talk about farting",
Tumblr media
And JK:
Tumblr media
And if by any chance you think that would be the end of the farting talk, then nah-ah. The one that said not to talk about farting had this to say:
Tumblr media
And again:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like I said, JM took the cake...
Tumblr media
Yes, that's JK you see there, on his knees laughing.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But then it's Jhope's turn, and JM is dreaming of revenge. Hobi knows it's coming, lol.
Tumblr media
Who you looking at JK?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Again with the farting...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hobi makes it to the top, saying he's doing it for JM, all for:
Tumblr media
RM tries again. Nope. Definitley not the challenge for him.
Last game for the mini filed day was slippery soccer. And you thought that the first game was funny, well, this one will have you on the floor.
They had to split into 2 teams of 3 and 4.
And again...now you see him here:
Tumblr media
And next, after they are told they need to split into 2 teams, he's here:
Tumblr media
I wonder what team JK thought he'd be in...
Tumblr media
Sorry JK, not this time.
And it was all your boyfie's idea.
Tumblr media
The shock. The betrayal.
Tumblr media
JM was after the amusement factor. I guess after losing every single game so far he thought the heck with it all, let's make this funny.
Tumblr media
So here's where the hectic comes in. It was crazy. It was fun. It was super funny. And we got lot's of Jikookery, which I will bring to you in... part 2 of this post of course.
To be continued...

Guess who's avoiding homework again???
That's right, I've translated Pamela's section of the extra credits! First, she wrote a letter for the entire Thea Sisters, and from what I can tell this is a "Get to Know Me!" exercise.
She mentions a couple of things about herself, like how "I like simple things, because complicated things make my brain seize up." and that she's very cheerful, but if she's hungry she gets quite cranky. Then she goes off on a tangent about how much she loves pizza *cough* we know *cough* before mentioning her abilities as a mechanic, before signing off with:
"I'm sure I'm forgetting something… I'll tell you in the next episode!"
(I honestly don't know what "I'll tell you in the next episode!" is supposed to mean. Is it a translation error? Is it just one of Pam's colorful phrases?? Is she breaking the fourth wall???)
"P.S for Violet: I'm sorry if I scream every time I see your cricket, but I can't help it!"
Pamela acknowledging her fear of Frilly and apologizing for it is just very cute to see. Like, I hate bugs too, but I'd imagine that it's a lot worse for Pam since insects in New York are absolute menaces (especially when they fly) and only mean trouble for people working in the restaurant industry. Instead of acting like Violet was weird for having a pet cricket, Pamela accepts that Frilly is important to Violet while also coming to terms with her somewhat-irrational fear of insects. She never puts any blame on Violet for the way Pamela feels, and that's the emotional maturity we love to see :)
Tumblr media
The next letter from Pam is a doozy, mainly because it's talking about her siblings. Her 9 siblings.
Anyways, the siblings in order are: Vince, the eldest who will inherit the family business, Sam the second oldest who works as a mechanic (possibly where Pam got her mechanic skills from), Bess the third oldest and the prettiest, Flo the fourth oldest and a great dancer, coming in fifth place is our fav Pamela, Gas the sixth and who seems like his only personality trait is being chubby, Jo the seventh youngest ("who ____? like crazy!" I couldn't translate the word beverde so idk what Jo does), Spike the eighth youngest who butts heads with Vince the most often, and finally Gus and Peggy, who are twins and the youngest. I was not kidding, this was a lot of info to keep track of.
First of all: Bless Pamela's mother for giving birth nine different times. Second of all: Here it's revealed that Pamela is the fifth oldest in her family, making her the middle child. Lemme just start off with I DID NOT GET THOSE VIBES FROM HER! I THOUGHT SHE WAS GONNA BE THE OLDEST/SECOND OLDEST INSTEAD SHE'S THE MIDDLE CHILD??!! my mind is shattered. Also, from what little we are told about Pam's family it seems like she's the first one to go to a college/university, which is hella neat.
The next section Pamela writes is a little... weird.
She wants to travel to the year 3000 to see what the future is like, and says some of her own optimistic predictions. Like, curing acne with ice cream or cats becoming really small creatures (Which raises a whole 'nother slew of questions about how mice and cats evolved, but that's for a different post).
But the one that stuck out to me was her idea that for studying, all that they'd have to do is place their heads on a textbook and find out everything there is to know. It sounded familiar and then I realized-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She. She predicted it. In the special edition series, this is literally what Pamela proposed in the very first book. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!
Pamela if you don't stop breaking the fourth wall right now I'm gonna call your editor.

Just finished Ghosts 3x06! Really fun episode lol.
It was so cool to see Trevor's brother!! Even if he was trying to scam them xD. But I'm glad he wasn't just bad, he was scared (and he wasn't impolite either). Plus he agreed to base it all on a video game so xD. Anyway, love the new Trevor lore!! And forgot to mention it but the new Isaac lore last episode too :). Loving the lore updates lol! But yeah, I'm proud of Trevor for pushing his little brother out into the world :'D. Also I knew that wet willy was gonna come back lol. Love that it was like that xD.
Isaac just chilling learning about dinosaurs in the background was honestly so cute :'D xD. Poor guy that he didn't know but glad he's having fun lol.
Loved Thor and Sas trying to protect Pete :'). Also that butterscotch scene was the most uncomfortable thing I've ever seen in my life. Thank you (not for the scene). Anyway, even though Thor SLEPT WITH HER SLFKJDHS O.O, I'm glad they showed Pete that Carol was still a cheater :'). I mean it sucks, but she's not good enough for our boy <33.
Also I think Alberta's still having feelings for Pete xD.
And hey, I would watch pedestrianism Hetty 😤😌. I don't know how much but I'd try xD. Love her getting into at the end lol. Also, the communication of information to cheat method they were using was wild xD. But I mean, hey lol, it worked, and Jay won :). Even if it wasn't fairly xd.
Also bro pointing out Sam and Jay hadn't had any other guests o.o. Oof but is he wrong xD
I loved the episode!! Thought it was great, super funny :D.
I have heard that the next (the most recent - less to catch up on than I thought before watching the first one tonight :)) episode is a doozy, specifically for us Nisaac fans, so I am scared xd. But! Wish me luck lol.
So yeah, great episode, I had a fun time :D. Bye all!!

Birth
Tumblr media
Age Rating: 12+
Chapters: Two of Two
Fandom: Grey’s Anatomy
AN: Here’s the final chapter for the story you guys and I will try to post the next one as soon as I can and until then enjoy and I always appreciate and like and a reblog!
Summary: Amber gives birth to a girl with Andrew by her side and Dr. Montgomery delivering.
Words: 1455
Simone Griffith stands outside Amber DeLuca’s delivery room peeking through the transom on the closed door. It’s been six hours since she and DeLuca found out Amber was in labor. She was curious on how her chief resident was after her water broke causing Dr. DeLuca to have her close after his surgery and couldn’t help but go up and see how they are.
Also, after witnessing her grandmother have an Alzheimer’s episode, she wanted a reminder that there were good things in this world too, like babies being born. Alex Karev walks down the hall with a welcome home baby girl gift basket from him and Jo to give to Amber. He spots Griffith outside the room and clears his throat causing her to stand back and look at him.
“Dr. Karev hi I-I was just uh-”
“Spying on my sister while she’s trying to bring a new life into this world right this second?”
“…It looks weird, doesn’t it?”
“Yes!” Alex confirms causing her to look down in shame, “Is there a reason you’re doing this very weird thing?”
“I just…I just needed a reminder that there’s good things in this world too. And watching a birth happen in real time works more effectively than faith in humanity videos.”
Alex grins at that understanding where she’s coming from, “Yeah there is something magical about my baby sister becoming a mother.”
“That is all I am saying sir.” He motions for her to step aside and she does so. He walks inside the room to find Amber lying on her side in her bed with Dr. Montgomery behind her inserting the epidural catheter. Andrew is standing by her side and holding her hand as she groans at the needle insertion.
“Hey kid how are we doing?”
“Terrible! You’re lucky your ex-girlfriend knows what she’s doing otherwise I would judge her based on her poor choices from sleeping with you.” Alexs eyes widen at his sister’s knowledge of his and Addison’s past relationship. Andrew looks at him in shock as well just learning about this.
“Is this true or is it the hormones talking?”
Addison finishes the insertion and looks up at Alex in disgust, “You told her?”
“No! I swear I didn’t.”
Amber groans and lays on her back on the bed, “Oh please the nurses keep tabs on your love lives and they love to gush with me. They could write romance best sellers with Alex’s disaster of a love life. I mean I’m still at the Ava/Rebecca chapter and it is a doozy.” She turns to Addison, “For the record you could’ve done way better back then.”
“You know I’m in the room, right?” Alex points out before putting the pink basket on the table.
“I’m gonna check how dilated you are.” Addison sighs and feels the need to clarify to Amber while she does her cervix exam, “And for the record I didn’t date him. I found him attractive, I was horny and he was there. It was one time and I judge myself for it enough as it is.”
“I’m his sister I know how shameful you’d feel sleeping with him when he was an intern and an asshat.”
Addison grins at that and looks back at Alex, “I like her.”
Andrew asks trying to comprehend it, “Wait you slept with your sister’s OB and you didn’t think to mention it?”
“You slept with my sister and I had to find out after the fact.” Alex bitterly points out.
“I didn’t even know she was your sister man.”
“And I didn’t think my ex was gonna be delivering my sister’s baby over ten years later but here we are.”
Amber inhales and exhales in annoyance at their petty squabble, “Hey boys?” They turn to her and she looks disheveled while Addison checks her cervix, “I need you two to read the room because I have enough on my plate right now, I don’t need to mediate an argument between my husband and brother.” They quiet and look at her concerned as she continues, “I am just trying to squeeze a giant Escalada out of a compact FUCKING PARKING SPOT!” The boys look scared by her last exclamation.
“Very good.” Addison calmly says, “Swearing helps a lot, you’re at 7 centimeters.” Addison stands back up covering Amber with a blanket.
“Ugh I hate you tell me when I can start pushing this sucker out. Speaking of suckers exiting, Alex get out.” He looks offended by that as Amber continues, “You dropped off the gift and unless you can transport my daughter out of my body you are useless to me. And do me a favor. Let it be known that the only people allowed in this room are Dr. Montgomery and the people who provided genetic material to this baby otherwise they are gonna be in a world of hurt, now out!” Amber points at the door causing Alex to nod and pat Andrew on the back seeing the road ahead of him.
“God speed.”
Andrew nods, “Yeah.” Alex gets out of the room and closes the door behind him.
TWO HOURS LATER
I scream out loud as the next contraction comes and push per Dr. Montgomery’s instructions. While this happens, Andrew is by my side holding me encouraging me. My lower region is covered by blue tarps with Addison behind the curtain delivering my daughter, out of all of us I think she has the easiest job in the room because Andrew is no doubt in pain from me holding his hand with monster strength that’s coming from being in labor.
“Good Dr. DeLuca! Okay at the next contraction I’m gonna need you to really bear down but not until I tell you.”
I whimper at the never-ending cycle, “Oh god come on! I know my brother rejected you but don’t take it out on me!”
Andrew rubs my arm to soothe me, “It’s gonna be okay, you’re doing great, it’ll be over soon.”
I am too in pain and too mad at him to take in his soothing words, “If you think we’re having sex again after this you got another thing coming Andrew DeLuca!”
He chuckles at that and kisses the top of my head wiping the sweat off my forehead, “I think we’re stalled in the sex department until this kid goes off to college.”
I chuckle lightly at that but then I stop and gasp as I feel another contraction coming, “Oh god not again!” I scream as the pain courses through my body.
“Okay one last push Amber!” Dr. Montgomery instructed me and even though it hurts I do as she says, pushing with all my might. Andrew is holding me and encouraging me to push through my piercing screams. After what seems like forever, I feel relief in my body and slump back down on the bed panting for breath. I hear a baby crying and I felt my heart stop as I look down to see Dr. Montgomery holding our small, wriggling and bloody daughter already crying her lungs out. Addison is smiling and laughing in joy, “There she is!”
I’m so shocked by what’s happening I’m laughing and crying at the same time, “Oh my god.”
I can see Andrew laughing in joy too with tears glistening in his eyes, “Look at her oh my god you did that.”
“You helped.” I remind him while Addison takes the baby to get her cleaned up and comes back a few moments later with our baby daughter wrapped in a baby blanket. She’s crying on the way until she reaches my arms and I hold her shocked at how tiny she is. I smile down at her still overcome with so much love and awe over this tiny human that made the last eight hours of pain I’ve endured so worth it, “Hi. Oh my god she’s…she’s…”
“She’s perfect.” Andrew finishes and I nod as he smiles. I can see the love in his eyes and grin at him.
“Here let’s go to daddy.” I carefully place the baby in Andrew’s arms and he handles her so carefully, no doubt shocked at how light she is too. He croons at the baby speaking words of affection in Italian cradling her head, “Ciao bambina, sono tua mamma e tuo papà.”
I sniffle and grin at the sight of both of them before cooing at our daughter, “Hi welcome to the world. Right now your the only pure and innocent thing in it at this very moment. And I promise we are gonna name you by the time you come home.” Andrew chuckles at that and we just enjoy this moment together as a family.

tti episode 8
“Last time on Total Takes Island: the teams set out on a lovely canoe trip to scenic Bony Island, where they carried their boats over two miles of treacherous jungle, featuring man-eating beavers and a few grumpy geese. O’s anxiety got the best of him, and he cost his team not one, but four players. While Ass and Courtney were busy tearing their team apart, Michael and Max were the only ones keeping theirs together. Ultimately, the Fujoshis one, and O took the walk of shame- O no! Haha. I wrote that one myself. Will the Fujoshis keep up their winning streak? Will Julia ever get over her crippling fear of geese? Find out now- on Total! Takes! Island!”
Early in the morning just outside Camp, Sha-Mod and McLovin sit on the beach, building a sand mansion together and speaking in hushed tones (though no one else is up yet).
“And, I dunno, they’re both great, but I get the vibe they don’t like each other, ya know?” McLovin says, picking up a sand dollar.
“I can’t blame Courtney. That Ass is sha-bad news, they didn’t even apologize for crinkling my Lightning!” he exclaims, pointing to the slightly-indented photo of Lightning over his face. “They’ve been a real problem since Mal left.”
“Maybe for you,” McLovin sighs. “Since Mal’s been gone, I’ve had TWO chicks on my tail! I know I’m a catch, but geez, man!”
“Well, as long as I’m here, we can stay partnering up!” Sha-Mod announces, pointing at himself. “Avoid all the girl drama, you know?”
“Thanks, bud, I knew I could count on you,”
Sha-Mod nods as a voice blares over the intercom. “Campers! Get your white-tailed butts in gear and meet me in the mess hall for your deer-ly exciting challenge! Ahaha, I am on FIRE today!”
The intercom crackles off and McLovin and Sha-Mod give each other a perplexed expression.
The mess hall is almost entirely silent as the campers yawn and stretch, tending to bug bites and trying to down the bitter coffee from Chef’s breakfast ensemble.
Scruffy carries a tray back to the Anon’s table, making a point to sit away from Michael as Julia, on her left side, glares daggers in everyone else’s direction. Max comes next, making fleeting eye contact with Michael before sitting on the other side of Scruffy.
---
MICHAEL: “I really don’t get it. Just when I thought we were starting to get along, he gives me the cold shoulder! After I saved his ass, too! Maybe Julia was right…”
---
Staci sits on the other side of Michael instead, smiling brightly and spooning the apple sauce-like substance Chef was serving. “So… has anyone kin-assigned you two yet?”
Julia raises an eyebrow. “Has anyone what?”
“Oh, you know how I’m literally Staci from Revenge of the Island? I’ve been helping everyone on the team find their inner kins, too! Well… I haven’t told them yet, but I’ve been keeping a list,” Staci grins, pulling out a thick, fuzzy pink diary and dropping it on the table. “Ok, so, Max is Scarlett from Pahkitew (ironically, hah), Scary is Scary Girl from the 2023 reboot, Scruffy is Sierra… hmmm,”
Staci takes a moment to scan the two girls over, judging their facial expressions and body language before smiling and nodding. “Gwen and Heather,”
“Excuse me?”
“It’s the standard loner and popular mean girl dynamic, duh,”
Michael rolls her eyes. “Not to rain on your parade, but doesn’t this whole kin-assigning thing feel like yet another way to be forcibly labeled based off of surface-level traits?”
“That’s such a Gwen answer,”
“Okay, I’m outta here,” Michael says, climbing over the bench.
Chris suddenly ducks inside the hall, grinning widely. “Hope you’re all enjoying your breakfast, campers, because this challenge is gonna be a doozy! Outside, you'll find your supplies for today’s, um, adventure,”
The campers look nervous and stand, following Chris outside to where two large crates are waiting, unopened. Scruffy shakes their head.
“Today’s challenge is a personal favorite of mine: hunting!” he beams, opening a crate and pulling out a neon pink paintball gun. “Unfortunately, due to province law, I can’t give you anything more powerful than paint without getting everyone a license, which sounds boooring!” he tosses the paintball gun to Courtney.
“Welcome to the second ever paintball deer hunt! Now, normally, I’d assign hunters and deer for you, but I think it’d be funnier to watch you all sort it out. You have five minutes to decide who’s hunting- and who’s being hunted!”
The teams give each other anxious glances as Chris walks away.
Courtney turns to the Fujoshis and tosses the gun in their hands to Sha-Mod.
---
COURTNEY: “Believe it or not, I am a very non-confrontational person. My strategy from the beginning has been the fly under the radar and focus on defense rather than offense. Hunting? No can do. But I can hide!”
---
“If Sha-Mod is a hunter, I wanna be a hunter, too!” McLovin yells, waving his hand around. Courtney shrugs and tosses him a gun from the crate.
“Oh, me, too. Those little deer outfits are terrible,” Ass nods. Courtney hesitates for a moment, gun still in their hands until Caesar butts in.
“Um, no. I’m not getting paint on this suit. Gun me, please,” he extends his hands.
“I was first!”
“Rock paper scissors for it?”
Both hold their palms flat in front of them and tap their fists against them three times. As Ass throws scissors, Caesar walks behind them and takes the gun and safety glasses from Courtney.
“Hey! I thought we were playing for that!”
“What are you, five?” Caesar chuckles. “Come on, Bonbon, let’s go find somewhere quiet.”
Bonnie adjusts the deer tail and antler headband before walking off into the woods with Caesar. Ass sighs, but puts on the accessories with Courtney without another complaint. McLovin and Sha-Mod fist-bump, and then run into the woods together.
“Obviously, I’ll be taking one of these,” Max says, picking a neon blue gun from the crate. “Let’s see… Scary?”
Scary growls at him, but accepts their paintball gun and safety gear anyway before bounding off into the woods, giggling.
“Hm…” Max surveys the rest of the team. “S-”
“I volunteer!” Staci yells, waving their hand in the air. “My aunt’s husband’s grandfather taught me how to shoot, and my great-great-great-”
“Alright! Just take it!” Max shoves the gun into their arms. “Anyone else?”
Michael smiles, and opens her mouth. “I-”
“Kelly!” Max says, tossing them the gun before pointing ahead and walking straight past Michael. “Alright, let’s move out.”
---
MICHAEL: “...am I crazy? Am I going insane? Is that it? Did I just imagine everything?!”
---
MAX: “Michael is a liability to the team. She’s a good player, but she’s distracting me. I mean, she’s a distraction,” he pauses, crossing his arms and glaring at the camera. “I didn’t mean it like that!”
---
“Does this tail make my arse look big, baby?” Austin asks, looking around his back.
“Yes, dear,” Kelly says, loading their gun with blue paintballs.
“Groovy!”
The two walk through the woods, holding hands and paying little attention to their surroundings. The morning sun shines through the foliage above as they enter a clearing.
“Wanna help me practice?” Kelly smiles, finishing up on their gun.
---
Austin takes a bite out of the apple Kelly handed him before putting it on his head and standing still with his back against a tree.
Kelly holds the gun’s aim up to her left eye, closing her right and taking aim.
“Are you sure this is safe, baby?”
“Yeah, I saw it in a movie once,”
“Well, in that case, fire away!” Austin beams, putting his hands on his hips.
Kelly readjusts the gun once again and aims, then re-aims it, before finally pulling the trigger.
Click.
Nothing happens. Austin keeps smiling, still frozen in place. “I’m waiting, baby!”
Kelly pulls the trigger again- still, nothing. They frown and lower the gun. “I think this one’s jammed or something,”
Austin slouches and the apple rolls off his head. He walks over and Kelly hands him the gun, which he inspects thoroughly by looking straight down the barrel. “I don’t see anything, baby,”
“Maybe it’s the trigger. What’re we gonna do?”
Austin thinks for a moment. “Let’s go ask someone for help. I’m sure they’ll be willing to lend a hand!”
The two hear some rustling from a few bushes nearby and turn, look at each other, and then peek out of the clearing onto the path from which the noise came.
“I don’t know, I guess I thought we were friends,” Michael sighs, crossing her arms against her chest and leaning against a tree. Her usual parka is tucked somewhere back at camp so as to avoid getting paint on it, leaving her in a black tank top. Julia sits on a rock beside her, picking at her cuticles.
“Yeah, well, you get what you pay for. I tried to tell you he has a stick up his butt,”
“Yeah… I guess you’re right,”
Kelly and Austin step through the foliage, smiling. “Hey, girls!” Kelly laughs nervously.
Julia and Michael both raise an eyebrow.
“We were wondering if you cool cats could lend us some advice,”
Julia’s “No” and Michael’s “What’s up?” overlap, but Austin continues nonetheless.
“Our thingy is straight jammed, baby, very ungroovy,”
“Um… well, I can take a look at it,” Michael shrugs. “No guarantees I’ll know what to do, though.”
“Yeah, have fun with that. I’m gonna go to the kitchen, I’m starving,” Julia says, starting off down the trail. Michael takes the gun from Kelly, looking it over before nodding.
“Your safety is still on,” she says, taking it out and handing the paintball gun back to Kelly before a rustling from the bushes behind them grabs their attention. All three turn- Kelly aims the now-working gun and fires a few shots into the woods, hitting nothing.
“Save your ammo-” Michael starts before a round of paintballs hits her in the stomach. “Aw, man, what the hell!”
Sha-Mod and McLovin giggle from behind the bushes, crouching down army-style while they reload. “Hit her again!” McLovin smirks.
“Uh, shouldn’t we sha-try for the other players, too?”
“We will, I just love seeing that dumb look on her face!”
“Can’t sha-argue with that!”
Sha-Mod fires at Michael again, practically coating her in pink from the neck-down. “You got me, alright! Jesus!”
McLovin suddenly springs up, aiming his gun and firing at Austin, who grabs Michael’s shoulders and uses her as a shield.
“What the hell!” she yelps. Austin smiles apologetically and then runs into the woods with Kelly, leaving Michael dripping in pink.
---
“I’m honestly kinda surprised that the network let you on, man,” Scruffy says, taking notes as they and Frollo walk down the trail. “Usually TV syndicates don’t like having religious views expressed on teen shows.”
“It was God’s will to have me spread his word on this program,” Frollo answers plainly. Scruffy raises an eyebrow, but doesn’t say anything else as the two walk down the trail.
---
Frollo sits in the confessional, reading his Bible in complete silence.
---
Caesar offers Bonnie a stick of gum, which they accept. The two are sitting in a sunny flower patch at the mouth of a small pond, a crystal-clear waterfall pouring fresh water from the rock formation above.
“Who knew nature could be so tolerable?” Caesar sighs, kicking back with his hands behind his head. Bonnie nods in agreement. “If only the woods had a wifi connection, this would be paradise,”
A sudden rustling in the woods beyond catches both of their attention and Caesar jumps up, clumsily holding the gun and stepping in front of Bonnie. He peers through the tall bushes surrounding the oasis and sees Scruffy and Frollo walking the trail, then chuckles.
“Revenge is a dish best served pink,” he takes aim just in time for Frollo to notice, turning and holding up his Bible like a shield.
Caesar shoots, hitting the book several times as Scruffy hits the deck and army crawls behind a nearby log. The intensity of the paint pellets eventually causes Frollo to stumble backwards, falling next to his walk-buddy.
“Hey!” Bonnie shouts.
Caesar whips around, but it’s too late. Staci shoots Bonnie three times in the chest, leaving them covered in blue.
“Bonbon, NO!” he shouts, extending a hand for them to catch as they dramatically fall backwards. Time seems to slow down as the two reach for each other, but Caesar slips, falling on his paintball gun and crushing it, and Bonnie simply lands on their butt, unscathed.
“Haha! That’s for great-great-great uncle Teddy, suckers!” Staci shouts before running off into the woods.
---
“I think I hear something, man,” Sha-Mod whispers, holding a finger to Lightning’s lips and pressing his ear against the rocky formation, as if trying to hear through it.
He then nods. “Sounds like those two girls from the other team- or maybe one of those girls and that little guy,”
McLovin follows his footsteps, also listening in. “Sounds like a cave. Let’s corner them!”
The two fist bump and jog around to the other side of the stone hill, stopping and leaning against the very outer corners of the mouth of a large cave. The echoes of two high-pitched voices follow, though their dialogue is too jumbled to make out.
“On three,” Sha-Mod whispers. “One-
-Two-
-Three!”
McLovin and Sha-Mod come running in, screaming and brandishing their weapons like machine guns, shooting everywhere except for their targets. Sha-Mod runs further, crashing into the two shadowy figures at the back of the cave and sending all three to the floor.
“HEY!” Courtney shouts.
Ass hisses. "Nice going, genius!"
Sha-Mod opens his eyes, his expression changed to one of pure terror. He immediately jumps back to his feet as Courtney and Ass groan, and then stand. McLovin sucks in his breath from behind the trio.
“Uh…”
Courtney rubs their head, groaning before realizing they can’t stand up straight. They open their eyes wider and see their antlers and Ass’ antlers are intertwined. Both gasp, and then narrow their eyes at each other.
“Let go,” Ass insists.
“I’m not holding on!”
Sha-Mod looks around nervously while McLovin starts to back away slowly as the two bicker. Eventually, Ass turns, stepping over to the boys and dragging a stubborn Courtney with them, and they grab the gun from Sha-Mod’s hands.
McLovin and Sha-Mod run out of the cave, screaming and covered in pink paint as Courtney and Ass chase them.
---
Julia walks along the path back to where she’d left Michael, Kelly, and Austin, seemingly bored and perfectly calm.
She pauses as Chris’ voice blares over the intercom: “Don’t forget that removing your antlers or tail will result in an immediate elimination! Hahaha,”
Julia rolls her eyes before hearing a rustling behind her. She turns, terrified, before Scary swings down from a tree branch, hanging upside down as they shoot her.
“Hey! HEY!” she screams. “I’m on YOUR team! Wait- this isn't paint!” she yelps as she's pelted with pebbles, covering her in tiny bruises.
Scary giggles and disappears back into the canopy.
“FREAK!”
Michael comes trudging down the path seconds later, sulking and peeling drying paint off her skin. “What happened to you?” the two ask in unison.
---
Chris leans back in his director’s chair, putting his hands behind his head and sighing as Chef arrives with another platter of fresh crepes.
He takes a seat at the table seconds later, enjoying the open air and sunshine as the two enjoy their mid-challenge brunch just outside of the woods, relishing in the screams of campers and the sound of paintballs splattering.
“This really is what I needed. No radiation, no dinosaurs, just some good old fashioned nostalgia-based torture,” Chris grins. “Oh, my- is that lemon curd I spy?”
Chef nods. “Imported,”
Chris licks his lips, but just before he can reach across the table, Sha-Mod, McLovin, Ass, and Courtney run out of the woods, the latter still chasing and shooting at the former, taking turns on the gun as their antlers are still tangled.
As they reach the top of the hill separating the craft services tent from the woods, they trip on each other and roll down the slope straight into the breakfast table. The campers groan, lying on the crushed array of berries, creams, and crepes.
Chris’ shocked stare turns into one of pure anger in seconds. “Seriously?! That was my brunch, dudes! Do you know how long crepes take to make?!”
Chef rolls his eyes.
“Eliminated! Disqualified! Done!” Chris pulls out his megaphone and yells into it “Anons in the area, get over here!”
Kelly and Austin, as well as Max, Staci, and Scary come strolling out of the forest, surrounding the pile of Fujoshis on the tattered mess that used to be a nice wooden table.
Chris jabs a finger down. “Take them out, please,”
Kelly grins, aims, and fires directly at Ass, and Scary shoots Courtney somewhere around sixty times before running out of ammo.
Chef turns to Chris. “Where’d she get the extra paintballs from?”
“Who cares? Fujos, you’re out! I’ll see you at the campfire tonight- as soon as you’re done cleaning this mess and making me a new brunch!”
The team groans in unison.
---
“Well, that could’ve gone worse,” Max says, stirring the odd green soup Chef was serving for dinner. The Fujoshis- save for Bonnie and Caesar, who were sitting alone at their table- were off on bathroom cleaning duty, as assigned to them by a still-hangry Chris.
“You did great, baby!” Austin smiles, wrapping an arm around Kelly’s shoulders. “I’m so proud!”
Kelly beams. Michael rolls her eyes.
“Are we not gonna talk about the problem, here?!” Julia snaps, rotating an ice pack around the multiple bruises on her body. “I want that little emo weirdo gone!”
Everyone in the group turns to Scary in the kitchen, who’s busy throwing mysterious ingredients into the soup while Chef’s back is turned.
“That’s something we can agree on,” Max sighs. “But it’s not the right time. Scary is unpredictable, but she’s a good player, and we need that.”
Julia scoffs. “When did you get all soft?”
“I’M NOT- nevermind. I said no, so the answer is no,”
“Whatever, Elmo,”
Max grumbles and crosses his arms, but doesn’t press the matter any further. Frollo rolls his eyes, and Scruffy jots something down.
---
SCRUFFY: “There’s a lot going on on the team that I’m not being told about. It’s hard to report on facts when everyone keeps being so vague… I almost wish I got placed with the Fujoshis, at least their losing streak is something to write about!”
---
“Fujoshis, you’re here because your team sucks, you ruined my crepes, and your complete lack of coordination, aside from when you’re going after your own team members, is honestly pretty pathetic,” Chris says. “Unfortunately, only one of you will be going home tonight.”
“McLovin- you’re safe. Courtney, Bonnie, Caesar. You get to stay,”
Ass and Sha-Mod look at each other nervously. Courtney smirks a little.
---
COURTNEY: “I’m not a vindictive person. I’m not! Let's just say I'm not a fan of the attitude demonstrated by some members on the team. But… we wouldn’t have lost today if someone had been able to see who he was shooting.”
---
Chris grins. “And the final marshmallow…
Goes…
To…
…Ass. Sha-Mod, I’m sorry man- Not!” Chris’ smile drops. “Now get out.”
Sha-Mod sighs, and even the crinkled Lightning picture looks sad. He stands and begins walking down the docks, boarding the boat of losers as McLovin follows after him.
“I’ll win this for us, bro! We’ll have a real mansion someday! With real giant sand dollars!”
Sha-Mod waves as the boat speeds away. “I believe in youuuuuuu!”
“Wow, how touching,” Chris says in a monotone voice. “Will McLovin actually live up to his promises? Will Ass and Courtney ever make up? Find out next time- on Total! Takes! Island!”

Gundam: The Witch From Mercury Episode 11 Review
- Suletta’s anxieties this episode resonated really hard with me. The feeling of being abandoned and wanting to impress others so you won’t be discarded are heavy and very realistic for someone who had been isolated for her entire childhood. The lunch scene was especially heartrending as she tried so hard to be a people pleaser that she compromised her own comfort
- The scene between Delling and Prospera was pretty confusing. Delling not only knows who she really is, but seems to be somewhat working with her as well. I still think he’s not long for this world, either by Prospera or by Dawn of the Fold. His big invention, Quiet Zero, seems to be affiliated with GUND technology which might link back to what he said in Episode 7 about the Gundam’s curse.
- Prospera was very sus this episode as she usually is, and Belmeria clearly sees a problem. The “daughter” Prospera keeps referring to is definitely Aerial and that scene at the end where she talks about not leaving it behind shows her immense care for it. Eri = Aerial is developing slowly but surely. Also we got info that Aerial reached Permet level 6, indicating that it does use the same software as other Gundams. Now it’s really weird that Suletta is unaffected and doesn’t even activate it on her own will like the other Gundams.
- Dawn of the Fold seem to be our leading antagonist group for the second half as they over took both Delling and Prospera in the opening, and Sophie has some weird fanaticism with Suletta. I’m guessing the other girl will be Guel or Elan’s rival then.
- All of Earth House, even the animals, are here for this horrible moment and I don’t want any of them to die. Though one of them getting hurt will probably be the push Nika needs to throw away her rebellious ties and embrace her new friends, especially since she and Miorine have hit it off recently.
- Now for the real important moment, the SuleMio reconciliation. The chase scene, while being beautifully animated, is also very sweet cause you really see how much Miorine cares for Suletta by continuing to chase after her despite banging her head constantly. Then the scene where Suletta shares her anxiety and Miorine reassures her while also showing her own insecurities. They finally confirm their feelings for each other, with Mio telling Suletta to never leave and Suletta pulling her in tighter. Though sadly right after reconciling, they are split up once again and won’t reconnect until some big stinky shit happens.
- Bob once again best character of all time despite the one minute screen time. All hail. The absolute balls (or stupidity) on this man to argue with his kidnappers. All of his coworkers are wondering what the fuck he’s on, but luckily they get at least some free range. But whats really sad is that Vim doesn’t even give a shit about his own son. I’m really scared for Lauda if Vim survives this little attempt (or even when he doesn’t) cause he’ll be pushed to take revenge against both Grassley and Suletta.
- Shaddiq continuing to be absolute worst boy. At least El0n/El5n is entertaining, Shaddiq’s just a dick. He loves to act like he has everything under control but the world will eventually bite back hard. He’s like Icarus flying to close to the sun.
- Next episode is gonna be a real doozy. We got Guel suffering under a hostage situation, our two lovebirds separated with one being targeted, our Earth House kids getting caught in the middle, and who knows what Prospera and Delling are planning

i LOVE your podcast and dead serious listen to it on repeat... no rush, but are you planning on making episodes for season 3?
AHHH THANK YOU ☺️☺️ it still shocks me that people have listened to literal hours of me rambling on about this boat show i swear!!
in terms of episode by episode analyses, i definitely wouldn’t expect anything soon cause i’m actually feeling pretty burnt out at the moment BUT i have started working on an episode or two of just recapping the season as a whole before i dive into each episode (whenever that happens). i’m pretty much gonna format it based on my predictions and go down the lists i made of what i thought was gonna happen, what i wanted to happen, and what i didn’t want to happen! i feel like it’ll be a nice way to talk about the season as a whole and cherry pick certain elements (positive and negative) before really diving super deep into the nitty gritty of each episode. no clue when it’ll be out, probably sometime within the next month??
i hope that’s even slightly satisfactory of an answer and thanks again for listening!!!! i’m so stoked to read everyone’s thoughts about the season cause it was quite the doozy huh

OK, have now watched that ‘Max’ episode of Stranger Things, Season Four, Episode Four, and it is by far the most overrated and ludicrous of the lot. It’s not bloody bogeymen from the upside down she should be having visions of, it’s jumped sharks.
Tumblr media
First up, the premise this hardboiled ginger nut had some secret guilt about Billy’s death.
Oh please!
The p**ck physically as well as verbally abused her every chance he got for years, and we’re supposed to believe she’s all torn up inside because he did one decent thing in his whole oxygen stealing existence?
Real people in the real world don’t behave like that. The only regrets they usually feel is never applying a sledgehammer to their tormentor’s worthless skulls when they had the chance. Eleven’s behaviour towards her tormentors: realistic. Max’s behaviour: baloney.
Besides, Max is someone who treats the people she likes as disposable pick ups and drop downs like toys as it is (especially her supposed boyfriend), and openly admits to her councillor the death of Billy had the bonus of ridding her of her equally violent and abusive stepdad. Does that sound like someone that’s gonna have a moment’s regret over Billy’s fetid carcass going to the Oldest Recycling Centre?
It’s not that she is incapable of caring, but she’s an atypical survivor of a toxic environment, ergo her own needs override just about much else - and that kind of mindset takes years (and more than a few long dark nights of the soul) to change
Finally, the whole dumb arse notion of her being into Kate f**king Bush ... again, history matters.
Skater kids haven’t changed much since the days the slim boards were replaced by the giant sawn off ironing boards more familiar to the current generations. They like fast aggressive music for a reason - when doing a highly physical hobby with some physical risks, you want to listen to stuff that gets the adrenaline pumping, not f**king ‘Clair de lune’ by Debussy!
On the other hand, skater kids wouldn’t want to be into the same stuff as the macho meatheads into heavy metal or hard rock, so ‘old school’ punk like the Buzzcocks, Dead Kennedys, Ramones, the Vandals, the Damned and others loved by the counterculture of the day was their bag - later morphing into the likes of Green Day, Offspring, Rancid, etc.
Tumblr media
The reality is someone like Max would be more likely to find Kate Bush the antithesis of her sensibilities, a self-indulgent posh bird from England disappearing up her own lilywhite world arse. And the album ‘Hounds Of Love’ is just about the most offensive it would have been possible to get for a skater girl (had she even heard of it - both it and ‘Running Up That Hill’ only reached No.30 on the Billboard charts, and only gained any sort of traction around Ivy League university campuses. The nearest most Americans had to intellectualism in music at that time was Cyndi Lauper’s ‘Time After Time’ ...). It was slaughtered in the American press at the time as ‘something only English ears would like’, with Rolling Stone (at that time still considered the bible of the zeitgeist in the USA) being particularly scathing.
In 1984, after the major financial disaster for EMI caused by the flop of her ‘disappear up my own arse’ album The Dreaming (one result of which being its proposed merger with British Aerospace collapsed when Thorn EMI profits doozied), she’d been presented with much the same diktat CBS have given The Clash under similar circumstances three years earlier - ‘you’ve twelve months to present us with a commercially viable album plus a bonus track for a projected Greatest Hits album to make good on our losses - or your contract’s terminated.’
‘Hounds Of Love’ did the job in spades, even if ‘Cloudbursting’ (the latter with no less than Donald Sutherland in the video) wasn’t the monster global hit EMI was sure it would be, that long sought after next ‘Wuthering Heights’ which would always elude them until, ironically thirty six years too late later.
Bottom line: the idea of Max turning into some secretly sensitive Kate Bush fan is baloney covered in a thick WTF sauce, and a sign the shows writer’s were not merely out of ideas but by season four butt lazily lapsing into self-indulgence. The whole notion of some supernatural alien whatever supervillain killing people after feeding off their guilt is stolen wholesale off the famous Polymorph episode of Red Dwarf, for crying out loud. The whip crack sound of the tentacles that ensnare Max when in her own nightmare is the exact same sound used by the tentacles in the Apocrypha in The Elder Scrolls V Skyrim: Dragonborn!
(Come to that, much of that whole nightmare world looks suspiciously like bits of the Apocypha and the Soul Cairn ...)
The first two seasons of this show were great, the third one a curate’s egg, but this last one is starting to wear thin half way through the bingewatch, rather like one of those video games franchises like Far Cry which doesn’t know when it needs to take a break and breathe for a bit.

Season 9 Finale Theories
It’s almost here guys! I can’t believe Season 9 is almost over. Tonight’s episode looks like a doozy and I’m so ready for it. I’m sure you have seen and heard a bunch of theories in the past week since the promo and promo pictures have been released. Some are related to the case, some are related to personal lives of the characters. So below, I have added my final theories of this penultimate/finale episodes.
So let’s get the most obvious thing out of the way, the EXPLOSION💥. Clearly an explosion happens and my gut tells me it will happen in the last few minutes of the episode. The explosion will happen, Jay and Hailey will be lying on the ground not moving, and bam...to be continued.
We know that Jay is going to be fine, especially after seeing the new promo pics for the finale, so I think something will happen to Hailey. We saw a bts picture of Hailey and Kim in her Jeep and Hailey had a small cut on her cheek. I think the finale will pick up right after the explosion. Hailey and Jay are fine, Hailey only has a small cut. Everyone thinks that everything is fine and they get back onto the case. But during the episode, Hailey starts to feel headaches or maybe pain. But knowing Hailey, she will most likely hide it and continue working. Then at the end of the episode, Voight will do something stupid and Jay will go after him. Hailey goes home since she had nothing else to do. She gets home and boom... she collapses. And the screen fades black.
Anna is going to hit her breaking point. Voight once told Olinsky back in Season 5 how everyone has a breaking point. Voight’s was Lindsay. Adam’s is Kim and Makayla. We saw Jay risk his life and career for Hailey earlier this season. Everyone has a breaking point. My guess is Anna’s is her son. She hates Escano and Los Temidos and would do anything to get rid of both. But she had one condition, nobody find out who she is, especially Escano. And now that Escano knows who she is and who her son is, its even more dangerous. The pressure will be higher than ever in these last two episodes. She is going to break. My guess is that Escano gets into her head, maybe mentions her son and how sad it would be for him to loose his mother. Towards the end of the episode, Anna will break and most likely flee, compromising the case.
Voight is gonna cross some lines, because no matter what he promises to Jay about no more secrets, Voight is Voight and he always gets what he wants. I can see some Voight and Jay tension in the finale.
I know there have been a lot of Upstead pregnancy hints in the past few episodes so there is a 50/50 chance of seeing something related to that in the finale. I could see it being a pregnancy scare, or Hailey actually pregnant. I am still unsure how I feel about an Upstead pregnancy especially since we haven’t seen anything Upstead since they got married. Logically, this is the next step in the relationship, but I think Hailey and Jay’s marriage should be explored more before adding a kid into the mix. Either way, I will be happy with whatever the writers do, as long as they are happy and together. And seriously, Jay being a dad would be so cute!! 😍😍😍
After the explosion, Hailey goes to the hospital to get the cut stitched up. At the hospital, her doctor tells her that she is pregnant, very similar to how Kim found out. I’m guessing Jay and Hailey haven’t had the kids talk yet, so Hailey will be a little freaked out. She may be distracted, and Kim will sense it. Later in the car, Kim will ask what’s going on and Hailey will tell her, and the two will hopefully talk about it. Kim will be excited and Hailey will be scared. Kim will tell her that Jay will be happy to hear the news and that they will figure it out. At the end of the episode, similar to how the proposal happened in the season 8 finale, Hailey will come home to Jay and tell him that she is pregnant...and we’ll find out his reaction in the Season 10 premiere.
These are all just theories that can be so wrong. There is a lot that can happen in tonight’s episode. All we know is that it will be one hell of a ride.

!SPOILERS UNDER CUT!
“Doll…hey. Doll. C’mon, sweetheart. We gotta get moving.”
You cracked your eyes open begrudgingly, squinting up to see Bucky’s amused grin, head tilted and eyes soft. “Huh?”
He chuckled as you rubbed your eyes, confusion lifting an eyebrow. “The funeral. Zemo said we’ve gotta go if we’re gonna make it in time.”
“Wait, but…huh?”
Sniggering again at your reaction, he held up your phone. “You passed out in the middle of a chapter, sleepyhead.” He teased lightly, grabbing your hand and gently pulling you to sit upright. “It’s almost been an hour.”
You huffed tiredly, stretching and placing your feet on the floor, taking back the phone he held out to you. “Why didn’t you wake me up?”
“You haven’t been sleeping well.” He stated, like it should’ve been obvious. “How’s your arm feeling?”
“Better than earlier. It’s just sore. That’s all.”
He studied your features for any hint of a lie. Not finding one, he nodded, holding out his hand. “Okay. But tell me if it starts bothering you.”
You placed your hand in his, marveling for a split second at how big his hands were compared to yours - something you noticed every time but still it never ceased to astound you. He tugged you up, and you looked up to meet his worried eyes, remembering his question.
“I will, Buck. Promise.”
He nodded, tilting his head towards the door. “C’mon, cuddle bug. We don’t wanna miss this.”
A groan passed your lips, but you nodded and followed Bucky out into the main room, where Sam chuckled at you from his spot at the table. “Sleeping beauty has finally awoken.”
You flipped Sam off groggily. “Are we going or not?”
“Do you wanna wake up s’more first?”
“No.” You answered the one armed brunette. “I’ll just splash some water on my face or something. I’ll be fine by the time we get there. Where’s-”
“Looking for me?”
Zemo strolled out, now dressed in that coat of his, that smug smirk on his lips. You scowled. “I wish I wasn’t.”
Sam stood up, standing subconsciously between you and Zemo. “Let’s head out.”
You nodded in agreement, shooting the Baron one more glare, before following him out the door and into the city, Bucky right besides you, shoulders brushing as if you weren’t ignoring him just hours prior.
The walk was mostly silent, a few jests between Bucky and Sam plus a couple comments from Zemo here and there. You talked about strategy, with Sam bringing up the fact that he wanted to try convincing Karli to step down. Zemo didn’t look pleased with the arrangement, but both you and Bucky relented, agreeing to let Sam at least try.
It wasn’t until you were close to your destination according to Zemo that anything exciting happened.
“Karli Morgenthau is too dangerous for you guys to be pulling this shit!”
Hell. No.
The moment the voice registered in your brain, your jaw tightened, your teeth starting to grind together as you held back the very not nice things you wanted to say.
“Ah! How’d you find us now?” Bucky called out, tucking you into his side protectively, and a little possessively you noted, as Walker and Hoskins came down the steps, the two groups nearing each other.
You were relieved when the subject of Zemo escaping jail went by relatively quickly, Walker latching onto the fact that you were going to talk to Karli instead of focusing on the escaped fugitive in front of him.
You very nearly punched him when he ran in front of you after Sam told him the plan, making the four of you stop in your tracks, but Bucky’s arm tightened around your shoulders, holding you in place next to him.
“You’re gonna let him do this?” Walker questioned Bucky in disbelief, self righteous judgement practically dripping from your tone. “You’re gonna let your partner walk into a room with a super soldier alone?”
Bucky’s jaw ticked. “He’s dealt with worse. And he’s not my partner.”
“And you?” Walker narrowed his eyes towards you. “I expected more from you; the last original Avenger.”
You snorted, shaking your head. He obviously didn’t know how chaotic the Avengers were. What Sam was proposing? You’d seen it a million times with Steve alone. Not considering Nat, Clint, Thor, even Bruce and Tony. All of them willing to try to negotiate before running in, bullets raining and hell rising. “First, I’m not the last original. I’m technically not even an original. Second, I trust Sam with my life and I’m standing by his decision. He’s my brother. As a soldier, I would’ve thought you understood that.”
Before he could respond, Sam stepped around Bucky. You saw the reluctance in Walker’s eyes as he admitted a temporary defeat once Hoskins agreed with Sam. The fact that he was so unwilling to try to save more lives - including Karli’s - made the truth that he wasnt, and would never, be your Captain harden deeper into your heart.
Ignoring Walker’s confusion as you followed the little girl Zemo befriended - which was weird, you’d admit, but it was getting you closer to Karli - Bucky’s arm slipped from your shoulders, hand sliding across your back and skimming down your arm to grip your hand. Even through your jacket, you felt goosebumps erupt along his fingers’ trail.
You finally came to your destination and you let out a small breath. If everything went smoothly, this mission could finally be over and you could go home and take a bath, get take out, get out a bottle of wine, watch TV, and just relax.
What a dream.
“Hey.” You stopped Sam before he could go through the entrance of where the girl said Karli was, holding his forearm. “You want me to come with you?”
He shook his head. “I think it’ll be better if I go alone.”
You nodded, letting go without any hesitance. “Okay. Be careful.”
“Always.” And despite all you’ve been through, no matter how many times he’s followed Steve’s lead in doing something stupid, you knew he meant it. You nodded again, before he disappeared around the corner.
You leaned back against the wall, Bucky once again wrapping an arm around your shoulder now that you weren’t walking - he liked having mobility on the move, hence the reason he held your hand instead - leaning besides you and pulling you against his chest.
Ten minutes. You tried looking at Bucky’s watch, which was on the wrist of the arm around you. He noticed and turned his wrist slightly, bending his elbow more, which brought you even closer to him, showing you the time.
Giving a small sigh, you nodded slightly and dropped your head back against his bicep, your hands shoving in your pockets, one of your feet coming up to rest against the wall. Bucky shifted to your other side so he could stand in front of the doors to where Karli and Sam were, pulling you against his back, arms wrapping around your shoulders tightly.
It was a long ten minutes. You kept eyeing Walker, and you couldn’t help the anger burning through you as he held the shield in his hands. That damn shield. It wasn’t his. It would never be his. And he would never understand it. The fact that the shield didn’t make Captain America. The shield isn’t what made Steve a good man. Not even the Serum did. He already was one. Steve made the shield what it was, not the other way around.
But then you remembered a conversation you had, years ago, and your eyes flitted up to Bucky’s hardened face, the brunette staring intensely at the ground.
~
You didn’t get it. You were confused. You knew how important Barnes - Bucky - was to Steve. But apparently you didn’t understand it quite yet.
You watched from the entrance of the hallway, leaning against the wall, as Bucky went under once more.
Steve stood there for a moment longer, before turning and walking towards you. “Why’d you do it?”
He raised an eyebrow at you while you turned to walk with him down the hall. “Do what?”
“Give up the shield. And don’t say it doesn’t belong to you. It does. Howard gave it to you. You’re the reason it’s…a symbol.”
He hummed. “And what exactly is it a symbol for, honey?”
You scoffed. “Uh, freedom? Justice? Resilience? The defense of the whole life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness thing?”
He stopped, facing you with a strange expression on his face, thoughtful. “I dropped it because I can’t be that anymore. Not right now. People don’t have the same beliefs they used to have. How can I stand up for freedom and let the Sokovia Accords track every person they deem a threat, just like HYDRA tried doing? How can I be a symbol for justice and let Bucky take the fall for something that he wasn’t in control of? I can’t. And until the world is ready to change…I can’t be Captain America.”
~
And suddenly, it seemed to click. Steve gave up the shield for Bucky because the world wasn’t ready to admit it was wrong. Just like Sam gave up the shield for himself and his family because the world wasn’t ready for the truth that would come with him becoming Captain America.
God…when did a metal circle become so complicated?
“What’s goin’ on in that pretty lil’ head’a yours?” His whisper in your ear startled you out of your thoughts, his nose brushing against your temple tenderly as he placed a chaste kiss on your cheek.
You looked up at him and shook your head. Of all the things Steve gave up, he never gave up Bucky. And it used to confuse you, but you understood then. His blue eyes sparkling with curiosity and slight concern, his fingers tracing patterns along your collarbone with a barely-there touch that was so light it didn’t seem to exist. You finally understood. Not just Steve’s decision, but Sam’s too. And maybe you didn’t understand it fully, and that was okay, because you weren’t them, so you never would, but you understood a little bit.
“Nothing.” You shook your head, keeping your voice down so the others couldn’t hear, the conversation being a private one, “I’m just waiting for this to be over.”
He hummed, nodding in agreement, setting his chin on your head. “Me too.”
Walker started pacing the room about half way through, getting too antsy for your liking. “Shhh.” Bucky mumbled under his breath, feeling you tense as Walker started talking. “It hasn’t been ten minutes, John. Just sit tight.”
“Don’t do that. Don’t patronize me.”
“He knows what he’s doing.” Bucky stated confidently, straightening slightly from his leaning position, arms falling from your form. The two of you exchanged glances as Walker checked the clock over on the far wall, blocked from your view.
“I’m going in.” Walker strode across the room, heading for the entrance, no doubt willing to steam roll anything - anyone - in his way.
Bucky stopped him with a hand on his chest. You glanced back and forth between the two as Walker spoke, arms crossed tightly over your chest. “Buck…we promised him ten minutes.” You reminded him, seeing his resolve crumble a bit. You could guess he was thinking of the nightmares. The people he couldn’t save. The blood he already considered on his hands.
Walker used his moment of hesitation, shoving past him roughly. “I’m not waiting.”
“John!”
“Walker!”
You followed after him, you and Bucky arguing with him and Hoskins about giving Sam more time, but it was too late.
“Karli Morgenthau! You’re under arrest!”
“Fuck.” You hissed out when you saw Sam’s panicked expression, looking at you confused. Walker was flown across the room when Karli punched him, Bucky shoving Hoskins out of the way to run after her.
“Y/N-”
You threw your hands up. “I tried, Sam! C’mon!”
You and Sam ran over to some stairs, turning corners and trying to remember what the building looked like from outside to cut her off, but you only ran into Bucky again.
“I wish we had the layout or something.” You grumbled. “We were that close-”
“We’re not done yet, doll.” Nodding, you followed the boys out, Bucky pausing every so often to try to hear anything. “I’ve got gunshots.” At that, the three of you took off towards the sound, Bucky leading the way.
Just around the corner from where Bucky heard the gunshots, you thought you saw a couple people slip around another bend. Noticing you had stopped, Bucky backtracked. “You okay?’
“Yeah.” Deciding it wasn’t worth the pursuit, you turned to him and nodded towards the doorway Sam already went through. He gave you a look, but nodded and the two of you jogged into the room.
You sighed heavily, seeing Zemo knocked out on the floor, Walker standing over him and broken vials that were previously full of, what you assumed was, the Serum. Hoskins ran in right after you, meaning no one but Walker and Zemo knew what happened. Meaning you would probably never get the full, true story.
What fun it is to work with manipulators and liars.
********************
“I don’t like him.” Bucky grumbled, the two of you walking up to the place you were staying in, Bucky holding the door open for you.
“I know you don’t, Buck. I don’t either.” You had asked Bucky to go with you to get some fresh air once you got back, Zemo having woken up a few minutes after and Walker and Hoskins had to make a call or something official like the good soldiers they were. “He’s hiding something.”
“You think?” Bucky scoffed, giving you a look.
You rolled your eyes. “I mean…I don’t know. When we found him and Zemo…my gut twisted.”
He nodded in understanding, his face twisting into a scowl. “Yeah. Mine did too.”
You stopped him before you could walk through the door to the main room. “Do me a favor?” He nodded again with a little hum. Catching his chin between your fingers, your free hand moved to smooth out the creases between his brow. “Stop brooding so much. It makes me worried.”
His tongue darted out to wet his lips, features softening slightly. “Are you really gonna leave in the morning? I know you’ve had a lot of people telling you to take a break, and it’s selfish for me to ask you to stay, but…I dunno if I can finish this without you.”
“I-” You sighed, ducking your head as you thought of a response, before looking up in his wide eyes, begging for you to stick around longer. “Let’s just finish the day and see what happens next. Okay?”
He bit his lip, nodding slightly. You gave him a smile, before tugging on his hand. “I need a drink.”
He chuckled at that. “That I can fix, doll.” He, again, opened the door for you, and the two of you walked in.
“What a gentleman. Straight outta the 40’s.” You joked, making him roll his eyes.
He took off his jacket, heading to the kitchen, while you sat on the opposite side of the island. “Somethin’s not right about Walker.”
Sam gave you two an amused look. “You don’t say.”
“Well, I know a crazy when I see one.” He opened the lid of the bottle he grabbed, starting to pour two glasses of whiskey for the both of you. “Because I am crazy.”
You rolled your eyes as Sam responded, “can’t argue with that.”
“You shouldn’t have given him the shield.”
Giving Bucky a disapproving look over the rim of your glass, you sipped your drink, narrowing your eyes when he ignored you. “I didn’t give him the shield.”
“Well Steve definitely didn’t.”
Your glass slammed down on the counter. Why did he have to bring this up right now? Seriously? You were just having a nice conversation about places you wanted to visit while taking a walk outside. Why was he suddenly snapping?
Before you could scold him, the doors burst open, making your head whip over as Walker stormed in, “ordering” you to hand over Zemo.
You stayed sitting, leaning on the counter and facing the opposite wall as Sam told him off, giving an amused snicker as you sipped your drink. Bucky sat besides you, facing Walker, and you recognized from the angle he was positioning himself that he was blocking you from Walker’s view, whether intentional or not.
You raised an eyebrow, turning in interest when Walker put down the shield, knowing Sam wasn’t about to fight the man. What an ego the blonde had.
Before anything could happen, however, a spear pierced through the air, lodging in the pillar next to Walker’s head.
Your frustration with Bucky’s comment flew out of your head as Ayo and a few other Dora Milaje walked in. Bucky sat up straighter and you stood up, leaning ever so slightly against his arm.
You nearly facepalmed, a sound of complete disbelief leaving you as Walker introduced himself. Sam looked over at you two, an entertained, slightly incredulous smile on his face.
Sam tried warning him. He really did. But Walker, you’ve come to find, was an arrogant, egotistical narcissist who only wanted to win and would do whatever it takes to do so. Even when there wasn’t really a winner. At least, not in that situation. It seemed that Walker liked ignoring the gray area in the world, which wasn’t good. Not in the least.
Which is why you couldn’t really feel sorry for the man. You saw it coming as soon as he told them they didn’t have jurisdiction. And the moment he touched Ayo?
You put your chin on Bucky’s shoulder - who had stood up from his spot - watching the Dora Milaje kick Walker’s ass, wincing and cringing mockingly at the right moments, making Bucky smirk at you.
“We should do something.” Sam said, although he didn’t look thrilled about the prospect.
Bucky crossed his arms. “Looking strong, John!”
You gave a slight snort, not wanting to encourage anything, but unable to hold in your amusement. Bucky winked at you, clinking his cup of whiskey with your own, before taking a gulp.
“Bucky.”
You huffed and stepped back at Sam’s tone. “C’mon, Buck.”
“Fine.” Bucky grunted. “But ‘M not happy about it.”
Soon, the three of you, plus Walker and Hoskins, were all occupied with a member of the Dora Milaje. You knew you couldn’t take them; they were on a higher level that Natasha, and you could barely beat her. But you weren’t necessarily trying to win.
It was a strange fight, knowing that no one - except Walker, probably - actually wanted to hurt anyone. Of course, that didn’t stop one of them from exploiting your injured shoulder that she spotted rather quickly. The hits were quick and precise, the tip of her spear cutting along the graze, hitting the spot just perfect enough to reopen it. The stitches that had been placed only a couple days ago ripped, making you wince and clutch your now bleeding shoulder.
“Oh fuck.” You groaned. “You were always good with those things.”
She gave you an almost apologetic look, before she looked over to Ayo, who stepped through the room towards the bathroom where Zemo had locked himself in during the chaos.
When you caught sight of the shoulder thing she did to Bucky, his metallic arm now laying on the floor, his eyes wide and his stance stunned, your jaw nearly dropped. You guessed it made sense that they had a way to do that, but, still. None of you were expecting it.
“Did you know they could do that?” Sam asked once they started leaving, Bucky picking up his arm and connecting it to his shoulder.
“No.” The arm whirred as he swung it, getting it back to normal.
You couldn’t help the little giggle that left you, making Bucky raise an eyebrow at you. You tried holding in more laughs, but they just kept coming. “She-she...she disarmed you!”
Bucky rolled his eyes as you chortled, holding your stomach and bending over. “Ha ha. Very funny.”
“Oh come on!” You straightened and wiped your eyes. “That was good! Wasn’t it, Sammy?”
Sammy chuckled and nodded. “I’ll admit, it was pretty good. This, however, is not.”
Your laughter died as Sam made his way over to the bathroom, the light air that came with your cackles dissipating as quickly as it came.
“I can’t believe he pulled an El Chapo.”
You stared at the drain that was uncovered - large enough for Zemo to slip inside and escape. He did it. The son of a bitch finally did it. It took him long enough. You would’ve betted against him days ago.
“I can.” Bucky turned and grabbed your hand. “Come on. Let’s get you cleaned up.”
*********************
“I thought you told them.”
Bucky looked up from wrapping your shoulder, an eyebrow raised. “What?”
“I thought you told them. The Dora Milaje. Wakanda. T’Challa. I thought you told them about Zemo.”
He leaned back with a sigh. “It was kinda a last minute decision. You know that. You were there.”
You nodded. “I do. But I also know what they’ve done for you. Shuri and Ayo. I was there for that, too. And you know what he did to them. To their country. Their king.”
“I know, I know. I almost died several times because of it.”
Your eyebrows pinched in confusion. “So why-”
“I thought it’d be quick. I thought, maybe, I could do it without them finding out and then we could get to Karli and they wouldn’t be disappointed. Win win.”
Your cheek caught between your teeth as you thought. “You could’ve just asked-”
He shook his head. “They would’ve said no. You know that.”
“Okay. Fine. Yes. I know that. But…but giving them a warning would’ve been better than this.” He hung his head, closing his eyes. “Bucky. Hey,” hooking a finger under his chin, you tilted his head back up to look at you. “I know it’s been hard for you. Everything has. And I’m sorry I dragged you into this. I shouldn’t have let you come along. You should be healing, and it’s my fault you’re not.” He opened his mouth, face scrunching up in disagreement, but you shook your head. “It’s true. I just…I didn’t know it would come this far.” You gnawed on your bottom lip studying those captivating eyes, before sighing. “Which is why I’m not leaving.”
He perked up, those pretty eyes going wide, jaw slackening. “You-you’re not?!”
You shook your head. As much as you wanted to run away, you couldn’t. It wouldn’t be right. “It wouldn’t be fair to you or Sam. I promised to help, and I brought you into it. So I’m gonna stay.
“Are you, uh…are you sure? You don’t hafta if you don’t wanna, doll. I know I kinda pushed you earlier, but-”
“I’m sure Buck.” You nodded firmly. “Just…do something for me?”
“I dunno if I can promise not brooding, sweetheart.”
You giggled at his words. “Not that. Just…stop giving Sam a hard time. About the shield. Please.”
His soft features hardened and he scowled. “If he didn’t give it up-”
“He thought it was going to the museum. I told you about that, remember? I told you we’d go when I got back.”
Giving a slight nod, he sighed. “We never did.”
“We will. But, I’m serious, Buck. Please. It’s not his fault. He did exactly what Steve did.” At Bucky’s confused look, you pursed your lips, looking down at his hands, starting to play with his fingers. “Remember how I was thinking during those ten minutes we had?” He nodded. “I was thinking about how Steve gave the shield back to Tony. After saving you. In Siberia. You remember that?” Another nod was given, so you continued. “It was for you, James. Because you made him realize that he didn’t want to be the face of a country that preached one thing, but did another. And that’s what Sam did. He did it for his family. For himself. Because no one wants to fight for a country that goes against your personal beliefs, no matter what they say.”
“I-I don’t understand.” Bucky’s eyes squinted, his brow creasing as he tried processing what you were telling him.
“That’s okay. Not everyone will. Really only they can understand their own reasoning. But you have to try to understand that he did what he thought was best for himself. For Steve. For the shield. And I know - dammit do I know - that it’s the last thing left of him. But it is just metal. Isn’t it? Steve’s the reason it is what it is. No one else. And no one is going to change that.”
Bucky took a breath, glossy, worried eyes meeting yours. “Walker’s going to ruin it. I know he is. I can feel it. Everything Steve worked for. I don’t care about Captain America. I care about the kid from Brooklyn who wanted to make a difference, no matter how little he was. I trusted him. I followed him through bullets and blood, with only that shield between us and them. He was home on a battlefield in Italy across the ocean from New York. And that shield was the welcome mat. It doesn’t matter what it says, what it looks like…but it protected my home when I couldn’t. But now? I feel like it’s tearing my home down. Pulling out the bricks. And it hurts. It was never about the shield, Y/N. It was always about the man it protected when I couldn’t be there for him. And now?”
Gathering him in your arms as he trailed off, you gave a couple little sniffles, pressing your face in his hair, nails scratching the nape of his neck lightly. “I’ll be your welcome mat, Buckaroo.” You offered.
He shook his head, pulling away to hold your face between his hands. “No, sweetheart. You’re not the welcome mat. You’re the new bricks replacing the old. You’re…you’re my home, now, doll.”
You swallowed thickly, unable to handle the rush of emotions that just poured through you, the sudden change in topic making you feel more vulnerable than you’d like. You leaned forwards, placing a gentle kiss to the corner of his mouth, feeling him go lax in your arms. “And you’re mine.” You murmured softly, before getting up and heading out for the room, unable to stay any longer. You still had a mission to do. One that became even more desperate with Zemo loose, Walker unhinged, and Karli being so close.
******************
There was a silent agreement to not bring up your conversation. Not yet, at least. Sam had eyed you both when you came out of the room, saying you were ready to get moving, but he didn’t say anything either.
None of you really knew where you were going, only what you had to do. Find Zemo and get to Karli before Walker could. Both of which were a lot easier said than done.
Until Sam got a call from Sarah, who told him Karli contacted her personally and threatened her and her sons. She left a contact number for Sam, evidently wanting to meet. His phone dinged not a minute after he texted the number.
“She said come alone.”
“Well that’s not happening.” You opposed, crossing your arms.
Bucky nodded with your sentence. “We’re coming with you.”
Sam didn’t say anything against it, the three of you exchanging glances, before heading out to the location, changing into your tactical suits along the way.
Karli didn’t seem to mind you and Bucky tagging along, and you understood why the moment she mentioned not killing Sam because he wasn’t hiding behind a shield. It was a distraction. They were going after Walker.
It was confirmed only moments later when Sharon contacted Sam. “Looks like he found them, or maybe they found him.”
As soon as Sam announced that it was Walker, you jumped into action, Sam disabling Karli for just the right amount of time for you to get a head start. “I’ll send you the location. Go.” He told Bucky, who nodded and took off in his super soldier sprint. “You hitching a ride?”
You rolled your eyes at his slight tease. “I hate this so much.” You grumbled, catching his hand as he took off in the air with his bird costume. He held onto you tightly, like the millions of times you’d done this before, although it didn’t make you any less dizzy, traveling that fast, that high, with only his hold keeping you from dropping. “You’re lucky I trust you so much!”
He gave a small chuckle at your shout over the wind. “We’re landing! Brace yourself!” You followed his order, just in time for him to break through the glass ceiling of the building Walker was in. The both of you landed on a platform on the staircase just as a Flag Smasher was thrown through double glass doors, down the stairs, and into a power box. Your eyes went wide as Walker strolled down the steps, oozing a confidence that made you nervous. The moment Walker stopped the Flag Smasher - the Super Soldier - from hitting him with the pipe, you knew even before he twisted it like a pretzel.
“Sam.” You breathed out. You couldn’t even do anything, only watching as the Flag Smasher got up from being thrown again, and running down a hall.
“What’d you do?”
“They got Lemar.” Was the only reply he gave, brushing past you and Sam. You gave Sam a look, but he just jerked his head down the hall, in the direction the Flag Smasher went and the way Walker started heading. You nodded, willing to drop it for now to save someone’s life, but you were so bringing it up once this was done.
Jogging into the room, you should’ve expected the ambush in the room, but, to be honest, they didn’t take as much advantage as they could’ve, so it wasn’t too difficult of a fight. You had trained with Steve millions of times before, so you knew how to go against a Super Soldier. Granted, your Cap wasn’t trying to kill you while training, but it was better than nothing.
You protected your shoulder, knowing that was your weak point, while trying to disguise it so whoever you were fighting wouldn’t realize your Achilles’ Heel. Something you often found while dealing with Steve, and even Bucky, was that Super Soldiers, as quick as they were, tended to favor the super strength side of their enhancements. This made it easier for you to dodge the attacks, knowing most of your blows wouldn’t do much.
Knowing you wouldn’t be able to stay on the defensive for long, you decided to try to get an advantage over them. Disarming them and taking their knife was easy enough. A small advantage, yeah, but now you had a weapon, and you could work with that.
You weren’t exactly sure when Bucky joined the fight, but he did, immediately coming over to you when you body kicked your opponent, helping you up. “That was a Steve move.” Your eyes caught sight of the Flag Smasher behind him and you shoved his shoulder down, throwing your knife, making it land solidly in the man’s shoulder. Bucky looked up at you from his crouch, impressed. “And that was a me move.”
You shrugged. “I’m a visual learner.”
You, Sam, and Bucky were about to go for another round with the guys when a sickening crack sounded behind you, and you whipped around.
Hoskins was against a split pillar, a crimson streak running down his forehead, head lolling to the side, lips red and cracked. The fight stopped as Walker rushed over to his friend, but you knew there was no way he survived. A punch from a Super Soldier? That hard?
Eyeing the Flag Smashers, you turned to Sam and Bucky when they started dispersing, Karli running out as well. They nodded towards you and the three of you took off after her, not wanting to let her get away again and, for you, at least, wanting to give Walker some time.
You weren’t expecting his grief to turn into such raw hatred.
Running up to the city square, you didn’t actually see it happen. Just the aftermath. Which was good, considering you nearly threw up just seeing that.
You heard the change in Bucky’s breathing, barely recognizing the way he stepped in front of you, only realizing you stepped closer when you felt his sleeve against your palms, fingers tightly wrapped around his forearm. A choked sound came from somewhere, but you didn’t know it was you, even as Bucky reached his arm around to hold your waist, keeping you behind his shoulder.
Tears leaked down your face silently, eyes unable to look away as Walker straightened, sliding the shield on his arm, too nonchalantly for someone who just murdered another in front of a crowd full of people, cameras pointed towards him.
The shield. That piece of metal you had been wondering so deeply about the past couple of weeks. The link to the first person you’d ever loved. Ruined. Tarnished. Stained.
You could barely breathe, your throat clenching so tightly it was a wonder you were able to get anything out at all.
“James…”

And with that all being said: Let’s jump into it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Olivia and her daughter rarely fought but when they did neither one wanted to admit the other one was right. Olivia loved and hated her daughter for being so similar to her. Even now as she watched the miniature version of herself stalk the interview room the exact same way she would send her heart racing. Usually the similarities would result in a smile but not today. Today Olivia’s vision was a deep red as she confronted her daughter.
“Y/N you were caught smoking weed underneath the bleachers during class! So not only did you break one rule you broke two!” Olivia shouted, folding her arms.
“Wow glad that you know how to count,” Y/N mumbled looking out the window.
“What did you just say to me?”
“Look mom I just don’t get what the big deal is? It was one joint. One class!” Y/N retorted, throwing her hands up, “I am a straight A student who has a full ride scholarship to Harvard.”
“Yes, because Barba stuck his neck out on the line for you and put in a glowing recommendation,” Olivia spat, “What you did was careless. You could have ruined everything that was given to you.”
“You know for once in your life could you ever be fucking proud of me! I do everything that I can do to make you proud and yet at the end of the day I am never fucking good enough for you.”
“That’s not…” Olivia went to argue but was interrupted by Cragen opening the door.
“Olivia we got a problem. I need you right now,” He said, then shut the door without waiting for an answer.
“Just go save another poor unfortunate soul mom. Don’t worry about your daughter.  I’ll pick up my own pieces like I always do,” Y/N said, wiping tears from her face as she grabbed her coat.
Y/N stormed from the room before Olivia could stop her. She made her way through the precinct eyes trained to the floor as her mother’s voice rang out, “You better head straight home Y/N!  We are not done having this conversation and you are grounded!”
Choosing not to say anything, Y/N merely raised her hand in the air flipping her mother off before the doors shut with a loud slam behind her. Tears made dark spots on the concrete as Y/N made her way back to their apartment. Even the noises of the constant car honks and people screaming couldn’t drown out the voices in her head today. Failure. Waste of space. Stupid. No one. Unwanted. Unloved.
It was the repeated song that kept her feet moving forward until she finally placed her key in the lock. She threw her bag by the kitchen island and threw her keys on the counter. She was about to turn on the living room light when a noise caught her attention.
“Hello? Hello?”
As she turned the corner her vision was filled with the sight of a gun pointed right at her temple. A smirk crossed William Lewis’ face as he looked at Y/N, “Ah welcome home Little Benson. I was hoping that it would be your mother who was walking through the door but I guess you will have to do.”
Y/N went to scream but instead Lewis jammed the gun against her throat, “I wouldn’t do that if I were you. One small slip of my finger and your mom will be left with a new kind of art all over her walls.”
Y/N let a single tear roll down her face before Lewis’ gun made contact with her skull and the whole world went black.
-----------------------------------------------------------
Olivia had already tried to call Y/N twice but it kept going straight to voicemail. The last known location had been their apartment so at least she had the sense to head straight home. The guilt in Olivia’s stomach was insurmountable. Watching her daughter explain that she never felt like she lived up to her standards. Olivia had promised herself when she had Y/N she would never end up like her mother. Yet there she was shaming her child for one mistake. Y/N was more than just a good kid, she was excellent. She was smart, beautiful, humorous, kind, and so much more. She was everything Olivia could have ever hoped for. Knowing that her daughter thought she wasn’t proud was the worst pain she could have.
After the third call Olivia finally decided to leave a voicemail, “Y/N I know you are mad but I need you to know something. I am proud of you and will always be proud of you. You are the best daughter and the most amazing human. I was rough on you early. Please let’s talk through this. I’ll be home soon with your favorite Chinese. Just don’t do anything stupid? I love you.”
When she hung up the phone she placed her head in her hands and let out a large sigh. Fin placed a reassuring hand on her back, “Liv, it is going to be okay. She is just being a teenager.”
“No Fin, you should have seen her. It was like I was physically taking her heart out and ripping it in front of her. I should have never said those things. I didn’t mean any of them… I was just upset.”
“She knows, they always know.”
Olivia merely shook her head and began to gather her things to head home. She walked out of the precinct without a goodbye and headed down the street to Y/N’s favorite Chinese place. They knew what she was going to order as soon as she walked in the door asking where Y/N was. Liv pushed off their question and scrolled through her phone as she waited for the food. Y/N’s phone was still off giving Olivia an eerie feeling as she finished the walk to the apartment.
Once inside she noticed Y/N’s bag on the floor and her keys on the counter. There was a sudden rush of cold air that made her notice the window that was open to the fire escape. She shut it quickly and then moved to Y/N’s room. The door was still open with everything the way she had left it that morning. Once her calls were unanswered Olivia opened the window again crawling onto the fire escape. Sometimes Y/N would go to the roof to watch the sun slowly crawl behind the buildings. When she reached the top however she was met with an unsettling emptiness.
Olivia reached for her phone to call the only person who was able to calm her anxiety lately, “Amaro, Y/N isn’t here. I can’t find her. What if something happened to her?”
“She probably just went to a friend’s house to get away,” Amaro replied stirring the contents of his drink, “She will be back in the morning just to relax. Sleep off the anger and come back with a clear head tomorrow.”
Liv pondered this suggestion over and over deciding what she should do. When the silence became too long Amaro interjected again, “Liv, I’m serious. You two had the biggest blow out that I have seen in awhile. Give her time to be mad at you and think. If you smother her she might only push further away from you.” She thanked her partner for the advice and then shoved her phone back in her pocket taking a sweep of the roof once again. Finally she slowly made her way back to the apartment shutting the window with a slam before locking it. Olivia wandered over to the kitchen moving the cereal that covered the top of the fridge to get to her secret cupboard. From the opening she pulled a large bottle of her favorite red wine. She popped the cork and decided to forgo a cup taking a long swig directly from the green glass. A large sigh escaped her lips as she plopped down on the couch going over the events of the day in her head.
As the contents of the bottle slowly drained till there was nothing else Olivia realized her fears were all coming true. She was becoming her mother. A woman she never once wanted to be. Three empty bottles later she finally curled under Y/N’s sheets crying into her pillow until she finally was able to fall asleep.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next morning when Y/N did not return and her phone was still shut down all bets were off. Olivia was furious but more importantly she was terrified. Something was horribly wrong. Her morning was spent talking to Y/N’s two best friends and searching their houses for her. When that search was unsuccessful Olivia went to the school hoping Y/N had gone there. However, she had been absent all day and there hadn’t even been a call to excuse her from the day.
When the morning bled into the afternoon Olivia was running around the city to all of Y/N’s usual hangout spots. The search of the library told her that Y/N hadn’t been there in over a week. The local bakery hadn’t seen her in three days. The coffee shop where Y/N always bought Olivia’s coffee when she came to see her at work had seen her two mornings ago but nothing since then. Even the old lady that had Y/N over twice a week to help her with errands and chores around the house hadn’t seen her.
It was dark by the time that Olivia fell into her desk chair at the precinct. With her head in her hands she let the tears fall. A whole day was gone and there was still no sign of her daughter. If she had been kidnapped they were running out of time and losing it quickly. The longer she was out there the longer the person had to get away with whatever they wanted.
The squad huddled around in Cragen’s office looking at Olivia curled over her desk. Rollins was the first one to speak, “I bet you Lewis has something to do with this.”
“And what makes you think that?” Amaro asked, “There are plenty of people who could have a vendetta against Liv.”
“It’s just a feeling.”
“Yeah well have you ever considered the idea that maybe Y/N just ran away,” Amaro retorted.
Fin, Cragen, and Amanda all turned towards Amaro, shocked. Cragen was the first one to speak, “I know you haven’t been here long Amaro but this isn’t Y/N. Something is horribly wrong and we are going to figure out what is going on. Fin and Amanda go check out Lewis’ usual hiding spots. I’ll take Liv through her apartment once again to see if we missed anything.”
“And me cap?”
“Amaro… you stay here and set up a tip line,” Cragen responded curtly and then they all disappeared to find where Y/N had disappeared to.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Y/N woke with a jolt as she felt cold water splash her face. She was met with Lewis staring only a couple inches away from her face. He grinned and grabbed Y/N’s chin as she tried to look away, “Well well there. Looks like someone is finally awake. Feeling thirsty?”
Y/N nodded her head yes waiting to scream as he curled his fingers around the edge of the duct tape. As he was about to pull it away he jammed a gun against Y/N’s throat, “Make any noise and I will shove this gun straight down your throat.”
Finally when he pulled the tape away Y/N spit right in his face, “Just shoot me already if you are going to threaten me with it.”
“And miss out on all of our fun Mini Benson. I think not. There is plenty that I want to do to you before then.”
Y/N began to panic as Lewis lit another cigarette. She remembered the way the others had burned against her chest and sides. She had lost count after twenty perfect circle burns and after the second pistol whip to the face she had passed out a second time, She couldn’t go through all of that again.
“My mom knows I am missing and she will be out looking for me. Just let me go and she will never have to know that you did it. Please,” YN begged.
“What is she going to think about that bruise on your face? Or the marks on your skin? I can’t let you go… plus I know that you both fought before you came home. I bet you that she thinks you just ran away and are leaving her,” Lewis chuckled.
“How.. how did you know that we fought?
“This lovely voicemail your mother left you,” Lewis said, placing your phone against your ear.
Tears began to run down Y/N’s face as she heard the apology her mother had sent her. Damnit! Why did I have to fight with her? We could have avoided all of this. Is the mantra that ran through her head as Lewis slammed the phone against her head and threw it at the wall.
“She isn’t coming for you,” Lewis snickered.
“Please… just let me go. I will do anything.”
Lewis pulled his gun and placed it against Y/N’s scalp, “You are still bargaining with me? Really. We are way past that baby.”
“I am the daughter of an NYPD detective. A decorated well known detective. My mother, her partner, her squad, the entire department will hunt you down. You think that you’ve put people through hell. It will rain back down on you.”
“You know what… let it rain,” Lewis said and then hit Y/N once again making her world go black for a third time.

Hooo boi Drewds this is gonna be a doozy
In this post, I will be talking in detail about THAT scene from 3x11 (If you’ve seen the episode you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about), if you have not seen the episode this post will contain major spoilers, this is your first and final warning
Starting off. I love how the writers chose to have Ace pull Nancy to the side after a team meeting instead of his confession happening in an already private moment between the two of them. It made it feel so much more real. Life doesn’t usually hand you the “right opportunity” for things like this, more often than not that opportunity has to be sought out for ourselves. Having Ace pull Nancy aside to talk to her felt so… genuine. That small detail really brought so much more feeling to the scene and I love that.
The next thing I noticed is that Alex perfectly portrayed the mixed emotions of both still holding back out of fear and the genuine desire to get through the conversation as quickly as possible.
There are so many small details that you can see in Alex’s face and hear in his voice… the shakiness of his breaths as he’s speaking, the mixture of longing and fear in his eyes, the softness in the tone of his voice… there are few things that feel more human than that complete desire to be truly known while also battling the fear of rejection, and you can see all of that in his face and I think that’s beautiful.
Now I shall turn my attention to Nancy.
She starts off this conversation with a joke, trying to lighten the mood, because if Nancy is anything, she’s observant, and she can tell Ace is definitely anxious about something. At this point she has gone to him twice in an attempt to tell him how she feels, both of which failed for their own reasons, and Nancy has given up hope that he could ever return her feelings for him, so the last words she expected to come out of his mouth were “I have feelings for you”. The entire time he’s talking you can see the sheer pain on her face as her entire world is reeling and she has no idea how to respond. You can see the pain on her face as he walks out the door and she wants to do nothing more than say something, DO something, but she’s completely frozen in shock. She sees the pain in Ace’s eyes as he believes she’s lost to him, having chosen Park, and she doesn’t know what to do about it.
(Side note, while I along with the rest of you am very annoyed at Ryan for interrupting their moment, Riley’s comedic timing is golden as always 😂)
I have a gut feeling that for whatever reason all of next episode they’ll either be pushed away from each other or Ace will start avoiding Nancy, but if they don’t reconcile by the end of the finale, Writers, the Nace Nation will be hunting you down in mass, torches lit and pitchforks sharpened.
That is all, thank you for your consideration.

Hey did someone ask for
Differences in the Jocks Kwami Swap AU?
Season 2 edition!
The Collector
Ooooh boy do we got a doozy
Firstly Fu has a run in with Kagami to hand over Trixx as she's returning to school after being kidnapped at lunch
Then everyone turns up to a distraught Chloe and Nino cause Adrien's grounded for losing that book he didn't know he had
So the class decide to collectively ditch (while Bustier "runs to the washroom") to find the book so they can give it back
Meanwhile Collector becomes a thing and goes around trying to make a collection saying he's gonna grab the heroes and all that
Chartreux and Crimson show up first and are actually kinda struggling when suddenly a flute flies in and knocks the book off course and bam KITSUNE IS HERE
They take a moment to sus her out but she mentions her Kwami and that's enough for them so they get to fighting. Only Kitsune is actively pulling them back and scolding them for acting rashly
While this is happening, Master Fu realizes he has to part with the book again to return everything to a calmer state, and slips outside to sneakily put it somewhere for the class to discover
The fight ends, the class finds and returns the book, and Adrien is allowed back to school all's well that ends well right?
Only Kagami and her mom have another talk here at the end, and Kagami is starting to feel like maybe moving to Paris was actually good for them and their relationship
Prime Queen
Who wants an awkward interview? I do
Kitsune just answers no questions whatsoever
"no" "classified" "you don't need to know that" "I don't have to tell you that" "no"
Crimson and Chartreux are trying to get her to lighten up but then they get asked if they're dating and they burst out laughing
They probably take some questions and it's Adrien being a fanboy and Alya trying to ask them about their next interview and Chloe simping
When they leave the og duo try to get Kitsune to open up and relax but she tells them she's supposed to keep them in line because they clearly weren't doing well before her or something
Then bam akuma
It's pretty similar only they have mirage and stuff
Adrien probably gets kidnapped as their biggest fan, he gets all flustered when he gets rescued by Kitsune
But yeah pretty much the same I guess
Glaciator
Oh Kay so the ice cream thing is slightly different cause I need it to make sense to me
Everyone has a soul flavour that their partner would get, and they can be combined for the soulmate mixes
They class decide that since it's a hot day that they should take Kagami seeing as she's new to the city and never heard of it before
When they arrive Andre is doing his thing serving up mixes and singles but then oh god he comes across Kagami-
This is before he gets a chance to "evaluate" Marinette and Adrien btw
He pauses and says something's not right and he tries to narrow down the three he keeps coming up with to one cause there's no way she can have three perfect matches no way
Kagami is a little distraught at basically being told she's not normal, and some of the class jump in to her defence, saying Andre must be having an off day
This has him upset cause he doesn't have an off day he always knows he's the master of his craft
They leave to go get snacks at the Dupain-Cheng's, and he gets akumatized
They fight the akuma, and Kitsune still won't let them rush in without an actual proper plan but the duo are slipping past her more and more
The fight ends and Kagami goes back to Andre one more time, on her own, to give him one last shot
He smiles all soft and gets her a bowl with three small scoops- at her confusion he says it took him some thinking to realize what it was
"you're not broken, there's nothing wrong with you. You just have more love to give, and so do your matches"
Plural
Despair Bear
Chloe is preparing to have the girls over for a bit of a slumber party, in an attempt to bond and show that she doesn't need Adrien there to keep her in line she can be good on her own
They do a few things around the hotel and it starts off awkward but slowly, with lots of nudges from Alix and Sabrina, things start to smooth out
That is until they go up to Chloe's room to get some nail polish to use while they watch a movie
Jean is in there, and believing that the others wouldn't be coming into Chloe's room, he's taken Mr Cuddly out of his little hiding place and is tucking him under the blanket on the bed
Someone kinda snickers like "wow Chloe nice doll" and because of how stressed she is mixed with mortification of being embarrassed in front of the people she was trying to win over she kind of snaps
Alya probably made the comment and meant it to be teasing but Chloe isn't used to her tones and she's had a long night of frayed emotions
She's very emotional and kinda shuts herself away in the bathroom after lashing out at Jean, who exits the suite with the bear only to be akumatized
Alix and Kagami have to slip away awkwardly and Alya starts recording, sending Kim the notif that he needs to transform and help out
There's a small moment with maybe idk either Juleka or Marinette with Chloe alone, comforting her while she tries to calm down, believing she just undid all of her and Adrien's hard work
Talk of blah blah we all make mistakes, you didn't mean it, you can't change what happened but you can own up to it and all that
Of course then the fight happens
During the fight Kitsune's plan nearly fails, only succeeded when Crimson and Chartreux give it the good old Jocks Improv shit
After that's all over Chloe and Jean share a moment, Chloe telling him about how she didn't mean to snap at him it was a build up, and about how much she appreciates how much he cares for her
He apologizes for not asking her before moving her stuff, and nudges her back to her party while he tells her how proud he is of her progress (notably he doesn't say how proud Mr Cuddly is)
The girls go to watch their movie, Chloe taking Mr Cuddly proudly. This prompts some of the others to bring out their little comfort items too
So yeah here are the plans for the next few Jocks episodes! I'm excited, I've watched season 2 and some of 3, and I've got big plans ahead! I'll probably drop the next Differences post before I get to writing the Collector at this rate but oh well
Let me know how y'all feel about these and if you have any suggestions

This Week in BL
June 2021 Wk 1
Being a highly subjective assessment of one tiny corner of the interwebs.
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Thai
Y-Destiny Ep 10 - love me some players! What can I say, players mock tropes by their nature, it’s refreshing. We see the glorification of purity a lot in BL, a bit of gay messiness never hurt nobody. Wait, no, that’s not true. It always hurts the characters, because... DRAMA! Anyway this was definitely my favorite installment in the series.
Fish Upon The Sky Ep 9 - oh Fish what am I gonna do with you? *Throws hands up into the air, with the fishes. * It could have been worse, I suppose?
Top Secret Together Ep 4 - still cute, no subs as yet so I only sorta know what happened. No gay advice dads, but my two favorite couples dominated, and there was domesticity so I can tell you it was definitely CUTE.
Nitiman Ep 5 - I love the true uni rep with homework, papers due, and drunken room parties. I also like how Jin is honest about being confused, acting on that confusion by trying to flirt and determine what he likes. Everyone around them knows Bbomb is likely to get his heart broken but different friends are reacting differently to that situation. Honestly, Jin is basically a rake disaster bi, and it’s working for me. Theres a lot more honest bisexual confusion going on with this love triangle than the usual cribbed in faen fatale rigamarole.  (This is when I warn you that I happen to enjoy Love Mechanics and Love Sick BECAUSE they are messy disaster queers.)
Tumblr media
Ongoing Series - Not Thai
Love is Science? (Taiwan) Ep 11 (BL subplot) - DELAYED
Be Loved in House: I Do (Taiwan) Ep 4 - I’m not entirely sure what’s going on. I think it’s linguistic, Viki’s subs feel very off to me. However, the script is starting to soften the main couple, and I like that. They’re laying in depth with backstory and romantic tension. So I’m enjoying it, but I can tell it’s unlikely to be a favorite.
My Lascivious Boss (Vietnam) Ep 9 - in one of those Vietnamese whiplash moments we got the secret identity reveal, the faen fatale relinquishing her claim, and a bisexual identity crisis one & done. Plus a bunch of tropes. Meanwhile, seme continues to be a total lush. Feel ya, babe. Next week looks to be a doozie. Could be the final episode, but who knows? Pacing? What pacing? Still this series is loads of fun and crazy queer. (Vietnamese whiplash is my new kink, okay?)
Tumblr media
Gossip
Thai BL bodyguard romance Golden Blood dropped some more content, so fingers crossed it’s still happening.
Workshopping photos from Bad Buddy dropped, so GMMTV is definitely filming it soon. I don’t think it’s soon enough for this to pick up Fish’s time slot, but I’ve been wrong about Thai scheduling before.

Breaking News
Hey Rival, I LOVE YOU! is one of my personal favorites from Vietnam (just a 30 min microfilm but very cute) and it got a second (longer) season! It’s called My Monster in Law AKA Mother Welf AKA Me Chon Dau Cao, and it picks up 3 years after HRILY, with the characters married with an adopted daughter. It's basically just adorable domesticity featuring the trials of work, friends, child rearing, and in-laws. I love the domestic look on you, Vietnam, very cute. Here’s watch order + links for ya (more to come I think so I’ll put it into the weekly rotation).

His (the original Japanese teen series) is now available on Viki. This is the (ostensible) prequel to His the movie (different cast). They don’t feel all that related to me. On Viki it’s under: His - I didn’t Think I Would Fall in Love. It’s more Japanese cinema than it is live action yaoi: beautiful, atmospheric, slow, floaty, and with an amorphous ending. I’ve talked about the nuances of Japanese BL enough now for you to get what you’re in for. There’s a moment where Shun and his dad quietly eat passion fruit together that was about as thrilling as it gets. So, ya know, watch at your own risk, don’t expect anything Thai-ish and you’ll be fine. Okay? Okay.
Speaking of Viki, I watched Emily’s 5 Things. It’s het but it features everyone’s favorite piner Sam Lin (We Best Love) pining the pine to end all pines (after a girl this time), friend-zoned since high school by the great love of his life. (It’s mutual pining, of course, they’re both just stupid.) It’s very emotional and drama lama but also cute and silly so I enjoyed it. And ya know, I just wanna support Taiwan. No queer rep tho.
Lovely Writer special EP coming June 9th. Thailand is trying to spoil us, so why do I feel like this is too much pf a good thing?
Strongberry, Korean queer film studio, has a new microfilm coming out called Fingers. I’m a fan of their work, so I’m excited.
Speaking of Korea, announced on Instagram, Hwang Da Seul (Where Your Eyes Linger & To My Star) is bringing out a new BL in July! I love her consistently bright style and casting choices (even if I’m not wild about her pacing). It’s based on the webtoon Something is Wrong With Popularity (not sure if it will have the same title, no MDL listing yet). 10 episodes 10-12 min ea. Thank you Korean Wave. Definitely NOT too much of a good thing.

Next Week Looks Like This:
Some shows may be listed later than actual air date for International accessibility reasons.
