They would come home to find you gone soon enough, and there was no way they’d want you back after you chose to come here, “Yeah, well.” You shrugged, “I think you should take a seat now.” You coaxed gently, slowly taking a step toward him. 

“Why?” He hissed, “You know I’m better off with your father.” 

The self-pity made your eyes twitch, but you pressed forward carefully as you approached him, “I don’t know a thing.” You simply said, “Let’s just get you down.” 

“What? Are you scared I’ll sober up enough to do it?” He let out a scoff, “Come on, it’s family tradition to take care of the body.” He reminded you, and you could feel the sting of tears behind your eyes start to build up.

“Stop it.” You seethed. 

“Why’d you even come?” He demanded.

“Don’t know.” You spoke honestly, “I was supposed to be at a dress fitting right now, but here I am, ruining that.” 

“You ruin everything.” He mused as if the fact were just that simple. Hell, maybe it was, “You see? We were never the problem, it was you.” He spoke, but you still made your way to him carefully so you could bring him firmly to solid ground, “Not me, not your father, not your mother, not even Donghee.” 

The words hit you like a ton of bricks, and you had to take a step back. You didn’t know why until you saw your hands called into fists, shivering with a restraint that you didn’t know you needed. You… were going to push him.

It's cute and it's one of the truly funny moments of this Festa dinner that will go down in Bangtan lore as "but are they on hiatus or not" (they are, stop redefining actual words, Hybe) but one thing, to me, is certain:

this has been sitting in my drafts as a response to some ideas that were circulating online a week or two ago due to that bang sihyuk interview, and it's clumsily worded but i still feel like it's a valid take so i'm just posting anyway. i'm not a music professional or connected to the industry, so if i'm far wrong just ignore this random post. i just get frustrated that for all the talk of strategy etc. everyone seems to act like bts (and by extension jk) are an established *western* act while either still promoting like a kpop act in sk schedule-wise or like a beyonce/tswift level act (which ... yeah duh) with vast u.s. name recognition (not so much) - and then wondering what's not clicking

idk about this "crisis" but i know one thing has struck me about the kpop and sk press and kpop stans in general

i touched on it back when i was talking in my tags about like crazy getting traction in the us

and what i meant was that those involved in kpop are too blinded by the industry cycle and too used to that cycle's accelerated evaluation by stans and press alike

like no one in the us who is not already a fan is waiting on the day of release to listen stream and buy. it is NOT like sk with weekly shows, several comebacks per year, etc etc

and most especially it's not this thing of: create song, choreo, mv, do a spate of music shows, see what hits if anything, maybe leverage concert dates if it does - but if not then done! next concept! move on and keep it moving - got to fill those music shows and if you don't constantly have new pieces to show you could lose attention and traction

but the general public in the u.s. is NOT socialized to all tune in to check out what's new at a certain time each week or whatever

only some check the charts and even that is mostly just to see where their personal fave is

what gp recognition goes by is repetition (that's one reason why radio is weighted so heavily in ratings- not fairly, but it's true): have we heard a song before? was it in the car on the way? was it in the club? was it in the music in the background at a store, at a party, on a friend's playlist?

when americans say they heard a song "everywhere" it means literally you could not escape it - and for that kind of feeling or environment to exist, it has to happen over *t i m e*

true, yes, sometimes a song takes off and gallops out of control like a wildfire catching but that is the exception not something that can be planned for or marketed into existence

and once you are a big enough name and have enough fans (us population @ 330 million so ... a lot more fans than it take to equal the same percentage of sales in sk ... so only a sliver of a percentage of that can mean a #1 bb hot 100) you CAN get that immediate-drop chart push

but most of the time, u.s. artists need to build up name recognition with the folks who wouldn't know a music chart if it popped up in their excel spreadsheets. that's why you get youtube reactors or even music business professionals months after release going oh i didn't know they even had an album/track/mv out

the larger a group, the longer it takes for things to disseminate past the early adopters and the media who watch them and the industry (nobody wants to be left behind, so journalists/talking heads are always like pets when you walk into the kitchen: heads on swivels in case it turns out relevant, and will write things just to be on top of a possible trend)

and this is where, i think, after watching hybe and its american arm try their push on jk, the kpop focalists are veering astray in their plans and projections: not seeing immediate huge success (or not *sustained* huge success) they think there is some kind of crisis rather than understanding that a u.s. or even just western gp fandom cannot be a top-down thing - it will take time

bts are huge (and yes a triumph for bts IS NOT and SHOULD not be lumped in as "a win" for kpop in general as has been pointed out is too often the case) but in the first days of jk's album release, *2 months* after seven had debuted, the huge nationwide retailer where i work couldn't even get his name spelled correctly in the point-of-sale database, so

the u.s. music industry is a big machine and busy on its own, many listeners only stay in their own bubbles and don't pay attention to anything outside that, because just keeping up with the output of one scene or genre can take as much effort as watching the kpop industry as a whole

to break wide you need to be either insanely ubiquitous and not just on social media (which runs the risk of people getting sick of you just as fast) or you need the slower groundswell of people going from "oh *that's* them? i heard of them but i didn't know that was their song" to "omg that's my song!! turn it up!"

there's just too much out there today to catch people's attention and the media cycle turns ever faster - used to, a song could be out and getting steady radio play and it still wouldn't hit the consciousness of the national public for like 3 or 4 months sometimes. sometimes it could take a year or more.

so this thing of short promotion periods for kpop acts - even bts! - is just not viable as a way to attract a wide gp following in the states. being on late night tv shows is a good step, but since the advent of streaming the influence of shows like that has waned considerably since the days of ed sullivan or johnny carson.

jk's run of promoting *was* the right kind of thing to do in fact - it simply should have been much more spread out over time. you can see all his album collab artists have things coming out *now* ... and there's no way to really take advantage of that with the curtailed promo.

and yes, obviously jk did get probably the second longest promo period of all of bts chapter 2 solos efforts (i think yg's tour ran longer?) and it was cut off for very valid reason! but!

i think bangpd et al. taking the fact that they couldn't make jk a household name in the u.s. nor nab him a grammy nom (nor any other kpop groups) within the 5-6 months of their fairly blatant push for us recognition as indicating a "crisis" is just not looking at the long game.

they didn't get all the accolades right away, so it seems they've decided 'that didn't work we need to make some big changes' instead of continuing what they'd been doing in support of the artists

it's this attitude of welp they didn't give us a grammy we were entitled to even though it's the first time we played ball in this particular way, so now we're worried bc we don't know how to shop kpop beyond people who aren't primed for it

like, they are looking at the business of it, and likely accurately, but not at the audience itself

it's not that the observations bang is making are wrong i just think he is basing them off premature information - songs in the u.s. DO benefit from purchase power, but they ALSO rely a lot on word of mouth. not for charts positions necessarily, but for longterm growth, support, and more importantly demand, you cannot beat a fandom that grows on its own.

the paid promotions at the end of the day serve the same purpose as bts's early days vlogs in the current western music climate - getting the artist and songs in front of as many eyes and ears as possible. but then you have to allow time for that wave to spread - and the bigger the pond, the more time it may take

#this is just me rambling #but the thought wouldn't leave me alone #it just seems too quick #kpop moves fast and on the surface it may seem like the american industry does too #but it is not the same at all and you can't expect the results to be in that fast #you'd think the man who rode the bts train would understand but i think he's looking at metrics not audiences #and expecting the kind of results he'd get in sk or the kind of results he's told american acts of similar stature to bts would get #either that or it's all a long game and he's going through steps in a script #which i would not put it past him to have some plan behind these moves #but really this post is me being a bit irtitated at the fact that they *coukd* have made jk or jm american household names #if they'd just *sustained* the promotions over time - i really believe this #and this seeming expectation that they can run a 'global popstar' campaign on an sk comeback timetable kinda bugs me

imagine him with that cold appearance but being really soft for Kookie and his soft belly- ✨

I can totally picture soft squishy doe-eyed Kookie with classic tsundere Yoongi. His closed-off impression is only fueled by his lidded cat eyes and dark hair. Everyone thinks he's cold and intimidating. He's quiet and people find that somewhat unsettling.

Except Jungkook knows how he really is... Jungkook loves every single thing about Yoongi. His hyung isn't quiet because he's cold, but because Yoongi gets shy in large social situations and prefers to listen rather than talk. His hyung is very open with his affections if people would just know what to ask. Yoongi doesn't care about typical party-conversation topics, like tik toks, what's going on with famous people, or social media influencer scandals. Jungkook wormed his way into Yoongi's heart by asking him about what books he's read, what new music scores he's come across, any recipes he's tried recently, and how his precious dog Holly is doing.

Jungkook knows that of the two of them, he's more extroverted in social gatherings, so he makes sure to offer his hyung his hand when they're together with others, even if it's hidden under a table or between their thighs squished together on a couch.

Yoongi seems cold with affection to the untrained eye, but Jungkook knows that his hyung isn't always comfortable channeling the feelings inside of him while others are watching. But once they are alone and away from staring strangers, Yoongi's guard comes down and he happily gives and receives hugs and kisses. Yoongi is naturally more inclined to show his love through acts of service, like cooking Jungkook dinner, getting him a sweater when Jungkook is chilly (but will never admit it), and playing the piano for him. He's been doing better and better ever since they started dating at showing his affections in Jungkook's love language: affection. Because Yoongi cares. He cares so much about conveying his heart in a way that Jungkook can absorb.

Jungkook loves affection... and food. Jungkook knows that it isn't a real love language but damn does Yoongi speak it. His boyfriend is constantly cooking him delicious large dinners, packing him lunch, whipping up hearty breakfasts, and making snacks. All because he loves Jungkook and knows how happy food makes him. Even if Jungkook didn't have a thing for gaining weight, he would happily let Yoongi fatten him up from all of the loving meals he makes.

His hyung sets down a large steaming plate in front of him and always gives him a soft kiss on the forehead, before putting some chopsticks in his hand and encouraging Jungkook to eat up. And he does, oh he does. Jungkook loves gobbling down Yoongi's hearty heavy cooking, savoring every scrumptious bite until his dish is scraped clean and he's leaning back in his chair, deliciously drowsy with his belly wonderfully full. Yoongi always makes sure Jungkook has enough to eat because he doesn't want him to go hungry on his watch. If Jungkook eats too much of a good thing, he can convince Yoongi to slide his large hands up underneath his sweater and rub his round belly until some of the ache dissolves. All it really takes is a pout, and his hyung is cuddling him on the couch, massaging the stuffing into his tummy to take away any discomfort.

It quite honestly took a while into them dating before Jungkook mustered up enough courage to ask if Yoongi was intentionally stuffing him. It felt like every night he ended up flushed on the couch, a massive meal filling him up, with his belly packed tight and distended round. Jungkook was shy initially, but the second he asked, his hyung was nothing but sweet and caring, saying that he just wanted to make sure Jungkook was happy and eating well. Jungkook had explained everything about feedism to him, and all of the parts he liked... including gaining. Yoongi was hesitant about doing anything at first, because he was nervous about hurting Jungkook. But after lots of encouragement, he got on board. Especially once Jungkook started chubbing up even more than he already was. Yoongi loved how Jungkook got rounder from eating his cooking, his thighs and ass thickening, his waist filling in, his cheeks getting squishier and his chin softer. It really didn't take all that long for Jungkook to plump up, considering he was overeating his hyung's doting dinners every day and enjoying all of the sweet affection that followed each large meal.

Now, Yoongi doesn't have any qualms about feeding Jungkook, because he knows how much the younger loves being stuffed, and in turn, Yoongi adores how it will eventually make his baby softer and pudgier. He loves resting his hands on Jungkook's plump belly while they snuggle to feel him softly breathe, along with gently squeezing all of the new weight settling in him. Jungkook has been doing a very good job of filling up to help himself along, without getting too full.

Yoongi does have to keep Jungkook in check sometimes though, like when the competitive boy is intent on stuffing an entire cake into his stomach after a heavy dinner, no matter that he's groaning pitifully from it hurting. Yoongi can usually stop Jungkook before he goes too far, which Jungkook is thankful for. However, if he does push himself beyond his limits, Yoongi always kisses his chubby cheeks and gives him tiny sips of peppermint tea while kneading the painful spots on his middle. Jungkook has been getting better with the whole self-control thing though, and him racing past his limits doesn't seem to happen as often as it used to, which he's really proud of.

Yoongi has made sure that Jungkook feels safe and loved. They've both agreed that Jungkook calls pretty much all of the shots when it comes to feeding and gaining, and for the time being, he's perfectly content to fatten himself on his hyung's loving gifts of home-cooked food.

You know what i love the most about jhope ?

Being a brown girl i have always been told to laugh quietly, speak softly and just not take up much space ... Even when i was 4 years old i was told that and now that i am 25 , i am still dealing with ppl saying that to me .. so what if i laugh out loud? So what if i speak in a loud volume when i get excited .. so what if i take up space by doing random hand movements while talking when i am happy ? Y should I have to hide ? I have been conditioned so strongly that it's only rarely now that i laugh out loud , and that too in the privacy of my home .. and still whenever i do my mother shuns me saying , stop laughing like a monster .. do you know how bad that feels? Anytime i laugh i am remembered that i look and sound like a monster so i don't even laugh now .. i am always conscious of it.. and i love when someone laughs in public out loud .. it's what makes them beautiful..

and i read it somewhere that we should never make comments on someone's laugh or smile because thats the way they express and feel joy and that one comment will stay with them , and make them feel bad everytime they feel good , you are not only tainting their joy in the present but also all the happiness they will have in future ...

It was almost midnight by the time Nita woke, and both she and Anyu were in need of a good meal. Nita lit a fire in the kitchen tent and began preparing the meat, while Anyu warmed his hands by the cooking hearth.

Once the turkey was cooked, though, it became obvious that the meat had gone rotten. As if things couldn’t get any worse. She’d been too hungry to notice at first, but the stench and the buzzing flies were hard to ignore now. That left her with wasted food - one of the worst crimes a Nuidya could commit - and a very messy kitchen tent.
