STEVIE NICKS – Hard Rock Live, Hollywood Fl.  Feb 24, 2024
Tumblr media
The original rock gypsy still has stories to tell
Stevie Nicks is a cosmic wonder. Her years of experience in the world of rock music, including her many years with the iconic group Fleetwood Mac, were on full display this evening at Hard Rock Live in Hollywood Florida.  I have seen Stevie’s solo show a few times over the years.  Like fine wine, she has gotten better with age. At the tender age of 75, her ease on stage resonates as she tells stories about the songs, her life; she pulls the audience in to her experiences, happiness, sorrow, nostalgia, wisdom. Should Stevie decide to write her memoir someday, she’s got some serious tales to tell. She makes us, the spectators, for her 2-hour set, feel like old friends as we walk her path of musical excellence together. There is a familiarity with Nicks that transcends time. It’s like sitting down with an old friend you haven’t seen in years. The feeling of no time has passed is what tonight was about. The audience was fully focused on the empress on stage.  For Nicks, there is no age demographic when it comes to her fans. Tonight, young and old, came together to enjoy an evening of rock bliss.
Her show is poignant and heartfelt.  As she transitions her way through the setlist, she tells wonderous tales of Prince, her Fleetwood Mac family, and her longtime friend, Tom Petty, who unexpectedly passed away in 2017. Her performance of their hit, STOP DRAGGING MY HEART AROUND, and a cover of his classic, FREE FALLIN’, which came during the encore, was accompanied by amazing visuals, pictures of the pair, centered behind her and the band. Both were heartfelt moments and two of many highlights this evening. To quote Nicks herself, “The only serious moment of the performance,” came with an inspired version of SOLDIER’S ANGEL. The finale of the song displayed the Ukrainian flag.
One could not review Stevie Nicks live without mentioning her mystical appearance. Always the quintessential gypsy queen, she seemed to float on air as her signature twirl was effortless, which came with thunderous applause by the crowd, her microphone stand draped in beads and scarves.  Her costume changes included a couple of original capes from her album covers. The instrumentals during these interludes, including some amazing solos, kept the energy flowing and the audience’s attention.
The setlist for the performance was hit after hit.  Nothing was left out. Opening with OUTSIDE THE RAIN, the show had an ebb and flow between her solo and Fleetwood material. DREAMS, IF ANYONE FALLS, GYPSY, BELLA DONNA, STAND BACK, GOLD DUST WOMAN (which to be honest seemed other worldly), EDGE OF SEVENTEEN, an amazing duet with her vocal coach Steve Real on LEATHER AND LACE, just to name a few, had the sold-out crowd on its feet, camera phones a blazin’. The encore itself, was masterful. FREE FALLIN’ (Tom Petty cover) RHIANNON, and LANDSLIDE (included a beautiful visual tribute to fellow Fleetwood Mac member Christine McVie who passed in 2022), brought the evening to a thoughtful end. Stevie Nicks live in concert is a wonderous experience for all. She is, and always shall be, an amazing force in music and life.

Plot
As usual, I’m not certain what, exactly, was the driving conflict of this book. Well, okay – I think I know what it was supposed to be, but that intention did not translate onto paper. And I only know because of some very pointed dialogue near the end of the book.
This book was supposed to be about Zoey learning Kalona’s true past and being swayed by him. Hence that whole conversation about how he “zapped” her with his “mojo”. The problem with this is that next to nothing in the story actually builds to this. There’s Zoey remembering being A-ya, two dreams between Zoey and Kalona, a tweet of all things that leads them to the High Council, and then the scenes in front of the High Council. That’s very little plot-related content for a book that has forty chapters and an epilogue.
It could be argued that part of the reason the plot takes up so little space in the book is because of the prevalence of the Stevie Rae subplot. But… That doesn’t have a particularly heavy presence, either. I mean, don’t get me wrong – the Stevie Rae chapters are much, much more focused than any of the parts involving Zoey. But, as I already emphasized, the subplot doesn’t really go anywhere. Stevie Rae finds an injured Raven Mocker, impulsively (and inexplicably) decides she must heal this creature that got shot for trying to kill her friends, and then runs around trying to keep him hidden. The only thing that comes of it is her finally revealing that she’s hiding rogue fledglings – but that wasn’t exactly a secret, anyway. There was no twist there. We knew. We were expecting it to come out in the open at some point. I guess it broke her Imprint with Aphrodite, but that was barely acknowledged or used in the first place.
There’s an easy explanation for this, however: Stevie Rae’s subplot goes nowhere because its only purpose is to give her a love interest. A second love interest, actually, because this series subsists on love triangles. But eventually Rephaim will become Stevie Rae’s sole love interest, and that’s what her subplot is building toward. That’s why she inexplicably saves Rephaim. That’s why she can’t let him go even after she’s done what little she can for him. That’s why they Imprint. That’s why he “nests” in her bed and feels strangely protective of her. It’s all because they are supposed to fall in love.
So that leaves us with a book where only six chapters directly relate to the core plot and the nine chapters focused on Stevie Rae and Rephaim leading to nothing. That’s fifteen chapters that sort of have content advancing the plot, with another twenty-five chapters and an epilogue still left unaccounted for. What actually happens in those twenty-five chapters? A whole lot of nothing. Let’s look at the timeline!
Day One: (Janurary 3rd, Monday) Chapter 1 – Chapter 12 We start off immediately where the last book left off. Zoey and everyone except Stevie Rae and some of the guys head into the abbey. Stevie Rae and the guys go looking for any stray Raven Mockers hanging around after the “fight”. Stevie Rae finds Rephaim and decides to save him. Zoey, meanwhile, goes to see Stark (who is reunited with Duchess), then goes with her grandmother to her room and gets ~*mystical wisdom*~ from her before Grandma goes to sleep. She then goes to see the tunnel Stevie Rae made to the abbey, has a vision of A-ya’s memories before Kalona’s entombment, and freaks out. She then goes to check out the accommodations for the red fledglings, then has some relationship drama with Heath, then Stark, then Erik. Stevie Rae, meanwhile, goes back to the shed to tend to Rephaim. Back with Zoey, she has a chat about relationships with Aphrodite, then goes to sleep and has a dream with Kalona.
Day Two: (January 4th, Tuesday) Chapter 12 – Chapter 29 Zoey wakes up from her dream in full freak out at the same time that Aphrodite is in full freak out from her vision. Aphrodite tells her about her vision, then Stark barges in to protect Zoey. Aphrodite leaves and Zoey and Stark go to bed together after talking about the relationship and ill-thought-out oath. We cut to Aphrodite, who is homophobic in ways that I assume is supposed to be funny, we get some insight into her character that the authors promptly ruin with their deftly incompetent hands, and then Darius asks to be her Oath Sworn Warrior. Meanwhile, Stevie Rae can’t sleep and goes to Rephaim. She sneaks him out of the shed and into the tunnels to hide. Dallas runs into her shortly after. They flirt; it’s pointless. Zoey then calls a meeting in the cafeteria, where Zoey – oh no! – sees Erik, the boy she violently dumped, with Venus. There is the requisite boy drama. At breakfast, Stevie Rae confesses that she has been hiding rogue red fledglings, everyone forgives her, and they decide they need to return to the House of Night. Aphrodite knows Stevie Rae is hiding more, they start arguing, and Zoey loses it on them. She barks out orders and then storms off to go see her Grandma, who offers more comfort and wisdom. Then they leave the abbey on horse back. They find Anastasia’s funeral pyre, ruin it, and then go to the infirmary to comfort and heal the fledglings there. Zoey collapses from exerting herself despite having the support of a full circle. They make a plan to meet in Zoey’s room to discuss their next steps, then Stark drags Zoey to the cafeteria to surprise her with a blood feeding from Heath. We cut to Rephaim, who is not at all surprisingly discovered by the red fledglings and (reluctantly? Apathetically? Vaguely?) agrees to help them take out Stevie Rae. We then cut back to Zoey, who feeds from Heath and suddenly, magically no longer finds it intensely arousing because sexual pleasure in a romantic relationship is for sluts and evil ladies. Stark is jealous even though he arranged it because of course. They go into the dorm, Zoey has a confrontation with Becca, then everyone goes to Zoey’s room and finds out from Vamp Twitter that Kalona and Neferet are seeing the High Council. They make plans to do the same. Then everyone goes to bed.
Day Three: (January 5th, Wednesday) Chapter 30 – Epilogue Zoey has another Kalona dream, and this time he shows her his true past as Nyx’ Warrior. She refuses to tell anyone about it when she wakes up. Heath calls his parents and gets permission to go to Venice with Zoey. They head out for the airport, Zoey calls her Grandma for more comfort and wisdom, then they fly to Venice. Back in Tulsa, Stevie Rae discusses the rogue fledglings with Lenobia before texting Nicole to meet up. Nicole, meanwhile, is conspiring with Rephaim to burn Stevie Rae to death in the sun. Zoey and co. land and sail to San Clemente Island, where Aphrodite promptly starts freaking out because she’s feeling Stevie Rae burning in the sun. We cut to Stevie Rae burning in the sun, then cut back to her meeting with Nicole, then cut forward to her waking up in the sun. With Rephaim’s help, she escapes to the safety of the earth. Back on San Clemente Island, Aphrodite is freaking out. She eventually stops freaking out, then refreaks out, then stops again but is weak and shaken. She freaks out yet again when Stevie Rae breaks their Imprint. We cut back to Stevie Rae to see her Imprint with Rephaim and get ushered from the earth to the House of Night by Erik and Lenobia. We cut back to San Clemente Island, where Zoey is talking to Stevie Rae on the phone and we get yet another rehashing of Stevie Rae burning in the sun. Then Zoey goes to the High Council chamber. Kalona speaks before the Council and is all gorgeous and convincing. Zoey is called to speak, she speaks positively of Kalona while ripping on Neferet. Neferet is outraged and calls for a return to the old ways before storming out. The meeting is dismissed, Zoey’s friends are concerned that Kalona has gotten to her, she has an emotional breakdown. We cut to Heath, who is whining about Zoey breaking his heart. He stumbles upon Kalona and Neferet conspiring to kill Zoey. Kalona sees him and decides to kill him. We cut to Stark, who is feeling butthurt about getting into a spat with Zoey. He then feels a sudden wave of emotion and runs to Zoey’s aid, only to see that she has just run to Heath’s aid because he called her through their Imprint. Zoey sees Heath’s neck get snapped and throws a Spirit Bomb at Kalona and promptly dies from grief. Then we have the epilogue, where Zoey is in some kind of afterlife.
The worst part of all this is that the ending has nothing to do with the core conflict. Yeah, Zoey dying? That’s completely irrelevant to her beginning to accept Kalona and hope for his redemption. That only happens because Heath is in the wrong place at the wrong time and her soul shatters when she sees him get killed. This could have happened at the end of the previous book and it would have made just as much sense.

18 Poetic Songs With Political Undertones
     1. “Amazing Grace” -John Newton
Originally written in 1779 by Anglican clergyman John Newton, this song has become an anthem for civil rights movements around the world. I’ve included links to two of my favorite versions, The Soweto Gospel Choir and Joan Baez, as well as to the heartwarming moment when President Barack Obama sang the song while speaking at the funeral for South Carolina State Senator Clementa Pinckney.

“Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. I once was lost but now am found, was blind, but now I see...”
     2. “Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2″ -Pink Floyd
Among the most memorable songs from Pink Floyd’s iconic concept album The Wall, this song speaks about conformity in society, with students being stripped of their autonomy at a young age.
youtube
“We don’t need no education. We don’t need no thought control...”
“All in all, you’re just another brick in the wall...”
    3.  “Blowin’ In The Wind” -Bob Dylan
Written by Bob Dylan in 1963, this song quickly became an anthem of the civil rights movement and ant-Vietnam War movement through the 1960s and into the ‘70s.

“How many roads must a man walk down before you call him a man? How many seas must a white dove sail before she sleeps in the sand? Yes, and how many times must the cannonballs fly before they're forever banned? The answer, my friend, is blowing in the wind. The answer is blowing in the wind...“
    4.  “Born in the USA” -Bruce Springsteen
Frequently misinterpreted as a zealously patriotic song due to its title, chorus and driving beat, this song is really a scathing critique of the Vietnam War and the country’s failure to alleviate the suffering of working-class Americans.
Tumblr media
“Born down in a dead man's town. The first kick I took was when I hit the ground. You end up like a dog that's been beat too much, 'til you spend half your life just coverin' up...”
“Come back home to the refinery. Hiring man says ‘Son if it was up to me.’ Went down to see my V.A. man, he said ‘Son, don't you understand’...”
“Down in the shadow of the penitentiary. Out by the gas fires of the refinery. I'm ten years burning down the road. Nowhere to run ain't got nowhere to go...”

     5. “The Boxer” -Simon & Garfunkel
A folk song about working-class America.
Tumblr media
“I am just a poor boy though my story's seldom told. I have squandered my resistance for a pocketful of mumbles, such are promises. All lies and jest, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest, hmmmm”
“When I left my home and my family, I was no more than a boy in the company of strangers, in the quiet of the railway station, runnin' scared, laying low seeking out the poorer quarters, where the ragged people go, looking for the places only they would know...”
“In the clearing stands a boxer, and a fighter by his trade and he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him 'til he cried out in his anger and his shame: I am leaving, I am leaving, but the fighter still remains...”

    6. “Brain Damage” -Pink Floyd
From Pink Floyd’s legendary album Dark Side of the Moon, “Brain Damage” is a powerful song centered around issues of mental illness.
Tumblr media
“And if the dam breaks open many years too soon. And if there is no room upon the hill. And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon...”
“The lunatic is in my head. The lunatic is in my head. You raise the blade, you make the change. You rearrange me 'til I'm sane. You lock the door and throw away the key. There's someone in my head but it's not me...”
“And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear. You shout and no one seems to hear. And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon...”

     7. “Bridge Over Troubled Water” -Simon & Garfunkel
Recently performed live by Paul Simon at the 2016 Democratic National Convention, “Bridge Over Troubled Water” is a moving song about unity and solidarity.
Tumblr media
“I'm on your side when times get rough and friends just can't be found. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will lay me down...”
“Sail on Silver Girl. Sail on by. Your time has come to shine. All your dreams are on their way. See how they shine. If you need a friend, I'm sailing right behind. Like a bridge over troubled water, I will ease your mind...”

     8. “Chimes of Freedom” -Bob Dylan
My personal favorite Bob Dylan tune, “Chimes of Freedom” is a simple acoustic melody with lyrics that only a Nobel Prize winning poet like Bob Dylan can write.
Tumblr media
“As majestic bells of bolts struck shadows in the sounds. Seemin' to be the chimes of freedom flashing. Flashing for the warriors whose strength is not to fight. Flashing for the refugees on the unarmed road of flight. And for each and every underdog soldier in the night, and we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing...”
“Through the city’s melted furnace, unexpectedly we watched with faces hidden as the walls were tightening. As the echo of the wedding bells before the blowin’ rain dissolved into the bells of the lightning. Tolling for the rebel, tolling for the rake. Tolling for the luckless, they abandoned and forsaked. Tolling for the outcast, burning constantly at stake. And we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing...”
“Through the mad mystic hammering of the wild ripping hail. The sky cracked it's poems in naked wonder. That the clinging of the church bells blew far into the breeze. Leavin' only bells of lightning and it's thunder. Striking for the gentle, striking for the kind. Striking for the guardians and protectors of the mind. And the poet and the painter far behind his rightful time, and we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing...”
“Tolling for the tongues with no place to bring their thoughts all down in taken-for-granted situations.Tolling for the deaf and blind, tolling for the mute. For the mistreated, mateless mother, the mistitled prostitute. For the misdemeanor outlaw, chained and cheated by pursuit. And we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing...”
“Electric light still struck like arrows, fired but for the ones. Condemned to drift or else be kept from driftin'. Tolling for the searching ones, on their speechless, seeking trail. For the lonesome-hearted lovers with too personal a tale. And for each unharmful, gentle soul misplaced inside a jail. And we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashing...”
“Tolling for the aching whose wounds cannot be nursed. For the countless confused, accused, misused, strung-out ones and worse. And for every hung-up person in the whole wide universe. And we gazed upon the chimes of freedom flashin'...”
Bob Dylan Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVIWA9VTiN8
Bruce Springsteen Cover (1988): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3onnJuBS18
     9. “Imagine” -John Lennon
John Lennon was a visionary. And this song was his vision.
Tumblr media
“Imagine there's no heaven. It's easy if you try. No hell below us. Above us, only sky. Imagine all the people living for today. Imagine there's no countries. It isn't hard to do. Nothing to kill or die for. And no religion, too. Imagine all the people living life in peace...”
“You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope some day you'll join us, and the world will be as one...“
John Lennon - Imagine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VOgFZfRVaww
Joan Baez Cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cw4_zOeOL7Y&pbjreload=10
     10. “It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding)” -Bob Dylan
In this haunting song from the album Bringing It All Back Home, Bob Dylan delivers a striking analysis of the world as he sees it.
Tumblr media
“Pointed threats they bluff with scorn. Suicide remarks are torn from the fools gold mouthpiece the hollow horn plays wasted words, proves to warn that he not busy being born is busy dying...”
“While preachers preach of evil fates. Teachers teach that knowledge waits. Can lead to hundred-dollar plates. Goodness hides behind its gates. But even the President of the United States sometimes must have to stand naked...”
“While one who sings with his tongue on fire gargles in the rat race choir Bent out of shape from society's pliers, cares not to come up any higher, but rather get you down in the hole that he's in...”
“And if my thought-dreams could be seen, they'd probably put my head in a guillotine. But it's alright, Ma, it's life, and life only...”
Video: Bob Dylan performing this song live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYajHZ4QUVM
     11. “Let It Be” -The Beatles
A song of hope that the world needs more than ever right now.
Tumblr media
“When I find myself in times of trouble, Mother Mary comes to me, speaking words of wisdom: ‘Let it be.’ And in my hour of darkness she is standing right in front of me, speaking words of wisdom: ‘Let it be’...”
“And when the brokenhearted people living in the world agree. There will be an answer. Let it be. For though they may be parted. There is still a chance that they will see. There will be an answer. Let it be...”
Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QDYfEBY9NM4
Alicia Keys & John Legend Cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7K8Sap0zjE
    12.  “Masters of War” -Bob Dylan
Steeped in rage and dripping with bitterness and resentment, “Masters of War” is a fierce condemnation of the Vietnam War that continues to be painfully relevant to the problems of gun violence in present-day America.
Tumblr media
“Come, you masters of war. You that build the big guns. You that build the death planes. You that build all the bombs. You that hide behind walls. You that hide behind desks. I just want you to know I can see through your masks...”
“Like Judas of old, you lie and deceive. A world war can be won, you want me to believe. But I see through your eyes, and I see through your brain like I see through the water that runs down my drain...”
“Let me ask you one question. Is your money that good? Will it buy you forgiveness? Do you think that it could? I think you will find when your death takes its toll, all the money you made will never buy back your soul...”
Ed Sheeran Cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHMlAYeFeYw
     13. “On the Turning Away” -Pink Floyd
An impassioned plea against complacency and silence in the face of human suffering.
Tumblr media
“On the turning away from the pale and downtrodden and the words they say, which we won’t understand. Don’t accept that what’s happening is just a case of others’ suffering, or you’ll find that you’re joining in the turning away...”
“It’s a sin that somehow, light is changing to shadow and casting its shroud over all we have known...”
“On the wings of the night, as the daytime is stirring. Where the speechless unite in a silent accord. Using words you will find are strange, mesmerized as they light the flame. Feel the new wind of change on the wings of the night...”
“No more turning away from the weak and the weary. No more turning away from the coldness inside. Just a world that we all must share. It’s not enough just to stand and stare. Is it only a dream that there’ll be no more turning away?”
Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojf18wT_Xtk
     14. “Redemption Song” -Bob Marley & the Wailers
The final track from the album Uprising, “Redemption Song” is a slow, contemplative track about personal and political empowerment and the ongoing fight for freedom and for justice.
Tumblr media
“Emancipate yourselves from mental slavery. None but ourselves can free our minds! Have no fear for atomic energy, cause none of them can stop the time. How long shall they kill our prophets while we stand aside and look? Some say it's just a part of it. We've got to fulfill the book...”
“Won't you help to sing these songs of freedom? Cause all I ever have, redemption songs...”
Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUNh9lmmUA8
Rihanna Cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCqquMFQ9IM
John Legend Cover: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlQn8_I6pjY
     15. “The Sound of Silence” -Simon & Garfunkel
A powerful song about standing up and speaking out told through beautiful harmonies and eerie melodies.
Tumblr media
“Hello darkness, my old friend. I've come to talk with you again. Because a vision softly creeping left its seeds while I was sleeping, and the vision that was planted in my brain still remains within the sound of silence...”
“And in the naked light I saw ten thousand people, maybe more. People talking without speaking. People hearing without listening. People writing songs that voices never share and no one dared disturb the sound of silence...”
“’Fools’, said I, ‘You do not know, silence like a cancer grows. Hear my words that I might teach you. Take my arms that I might reach you.’ But my words, like silent raindrops fell and echoed in the wells of silence...” “And the people bowed and prayed to the neon god they made. And the sign flashed out its warning in the words that it was forming. And the sign said: ‘The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls and tenement halls and whispered in the sound of silence...’”

Video--Recorded Live in 1966: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FaSFzp6IDgw&t=77s
     16. “Streets of Philadelphia” -Bruce Springsteen
Oscar-winning song from the soundtrack of Philadelphia, a moving film starring Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington that confronted the stigma surrounding HIV/AIDS.
“I was bruised and battered, I couldn't tell what I felt. I was unrecognizable to myself. I saw my reflection in a window, I didn't know my own face. Oh brother are you gonna leave me wastin' away on the Streets of Philadelphia...”
“Ain't no angel gonna greet me. It's just you and I my friend. My clothes don't fit me no more. I walked a thousand miles just to slip this skin...”
“The night has fallen, I'm lyin' awake. I can feel myself fading away. So receive me brother with your faithless kiss. Or will we leave each other alone like this on the Streets of Philadelphia...”

Movie trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cl4B9AU45P4
     17. “Us and Them” -Pink Floyd
From near the end of The Dark Side of the Moon, “Us and Them” is a deeply soulful song chronicling the senselessness of war.
Tumblr media
“Us and them. And after all we're only ordinary men. Me and you. God only knows it's not what we would choose to do. ‘Forward’ he cried from the rear and the front rank died. And the general sat and the lines on the map moved from side to side...”
“Down and out. It can't be helped but there's a lot of it about. With, without. And who'll deny it's what the fighting's all about? Out of the way, it's a busy day. I've got things on my mind. For the want of the price of tea and a slice, the old man died...”
Audio: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDbeqj-1XOo
     18. “We Are The World” -Michael Jackson & Lionel Richie
Initially recorded as a charity single by various American artists in 1985 for famine relief for several African countries and remade in 2009 to support the people of Haiti after a devastating earthquake, “We Are The World” remains a legendary song about unity and strength in the face of adversity.
Tumblr media
“There comes a time when we heed a certain call when the world must come together as one. There are people dying and it's time to lend a hand to life, the greatest gift of all...”
“We are the world, we are the children. We are the ones who make a brighter day so lets start giving. There's a choice we're making. We're saving our own lives. It's true we'll make a better day just you and me...”
USA for Africa “We Are The World”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9AjkUyX0rVw
We Are The World 25 for Haiti: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Glny4jSciVI
If you read all of that, you are a rockstar. Bless your beautiful soul.

• Rarely, || seldom we witness such beauty & wisdom brought together in/through life and I had just that... unquestionable pleasure of being there 1st hand at the right time & place || one is in the presence of such remarkable personalities. [A+ Type] • The sound effects, percussion, clapping, close-ups, fast-forward and backwards and also Wraith mystical dress lighting (if I'm not mistaken) are undoubtedly remarkable! Congrats on another marvelous music/imagery piece!! • It's such a pleasure to watch what you've become. World-class artists. It is so good to see your growth as true harp virtuosos. • So good! • The place/Estate (vid location) should be awarded [if not already]. It's a neverending 'construction sight', I'm sure with multiple daily improvements. Also 10% of revenue to an institution - remarkable. "NTFLX" Series could and should take a close look at it when nearby. I don't know for now if another song 'fits the surroundings' but could be an interesting idea whenever the plot or concept is (the) appropriate. But there's so many sets to be revealed on a future shooting, pretty sure you're already making a 'light' sketch. GONNA BE A HIT - Slightly different from what we're used to from HT, nevertheless, a smash hit... and if MTV was still around as before (90's)... we'd probably be having The Harp Twins' Legacy already on the Rock 'n' Roll Walk of Fame next to Stevie, and a bunch others! Dear Brendan,
Here’s to us. Here’s to 6 months. Here’s to a magical night of Summer Solstice where a journey began and changed my life, the night  we met under the disco ball; where I was floored by the beautiful and mystical being that twirled and smiled at me, and inevitably kissed me and made time hold still – to the hours and hours of feeling your warmth and strength as people stood still in awe watching us, as two titans came together for the first time- to the giddy runs through Ostbanhoff at 5AM, sitting together as friends took witness of us, and then taking the old elevator and out a secret exit and into the witch wagon, and we drove through the morning listening to our favorite music – to the first impact of the scents of palo santo and incense as I walked into your room, and the sweet musk and electrical touch as we first made love.
That shocking bewilderment, when we found out we had the same birthday, the slow revelations of our past, our desires, our strengths and our weaknesses - You telling me of your belief in love, your conflict with your father’s absence that fathers day, and the hilarious impersonation of your mother. – To you holding my hand as I ran through hot concrete and into my car, and then getting that kiss again as I forgot my keys.
A beautiful being I met, with a smile worth all the light in the world; mystery behind those eyes, wisdom hidden in words, and a sparkling laughter that brightened my world.  Here’s to our first date – to wine and prossecco, to the first flowers I gave you without hesitation, and the reintroduction to palo santo and the OK shop at Silverlake – to the exquisite meals cooked by you; the salmon and mango sauce, the baked eggplants with yogurt and pomegranates, to jackfruit tacos and my teaching you of real Mexican food – to a wonderful picnic at El Matador Beach, with music mixing with the crashing of waves – to you expressing your honesty of our coming together, our first agreement of being exclusive, and me being wildly ecstatic at this – to a mad run through Home Depot and Ikea as your best friend was on her way to move in – to the lady at the register that gave us a free plant and we named her Fiona – to the spell cast in your empty apartment; the burning sage, the blue candle, the spread of tarot, the two of cups, the ten of cups, the fearlessness unleashed – to the wonderful nights at Rhonda and Tendencies, the joy and amazement shared by our common friends as they saw us together – the psychic connection as you knew how I felt and were always there, I would simply want you, and you’d appear with that smile, or text or would call – to all the ‘Good morning mi amor’ texts every day, to every picture and song exchanged, and your learning of Spanish with every romantic song I’d sent – to my looking forward to seeing you everyday after work, to feel your hug and kiss, and your hand gliding against mine– to the first night you called me your boyfriend in front of your friend and my best friend – to a song by Stevie Nicks and Lana Del Rey shared by a sister, and to the first night you said ‘I love you.’
To a night of pure joy and happiness with southern food, a night of dancing alone to Selena and Donna Summer – to the nights alone watching your favorite TV Shows and documentaries of the ocean – to the comfort and smell of that room – to waking up every morning with you in my arms, and that beautiful face that radiated sunlight.  To a conflicted Candido as you tried on your clothing of color on me, to us sharing your make up and glitter to go out last minute – to my first time holding that fan and twirling and cracking it as you laid on my shawl watching.  – A first sting of confusion and misunderstanding; to you building the courage to meet my mother, something never done before - to my mother meeting you and accepting the flowers you gave her – to us watching Wonderwoman together, and hearing your laughter again- To a craving I never felt before; spontaneous acts in mere desire to be close to you – to my searching of you at certain festival, and then finding you and the goddess you became on stage, and that proud unbelievable moment as you pulled me to you and kissed me in front of hundreds- to me rushing to find you again, and then seeing your fan between an impossible crowd, I reached you and we kissed, and Solange began to sing. – To words yelled and expressed in anger and frustration, only to solidify our relationship; to me asking you officially out, and to be mine always – to the tears and confession that followed, and then the roses you gave me after.
Here’s to the countless songs sent by you – to the sketches you drew of me – to a family you brought together of bohemians and musicians, to your vision of what you wanted to be – to the sound of the garage key you kept in my car – the sound of you sleeping next to me – the sound of you drawing a bath – the sound of you cracking your fan – the sound of your voice as you said my name.
And then those last nights. Our last dance together at the place we met. Our new heels as we walked hand in hand, silver boots and black boots making an entrance with familiar faces and friends, and you held on tightly to me. We danced; you and your fan, me and my shawl - A beautiful final picture of us in our element, a drive through LA in silence; our coming home and making love for the last time, the bruise I still laugh at that you left on my lip.
A breakfast cooked by you for your best friend; grapefruit mimosas and eggs benedict – a trip to the observatory, where we watched the city lights. You in your striped pants and blue leotard, your friend in royal blue, cape flowing behind her as you chased after her – my shawl thrown over you as you were cold, arms wrapped around you not wanting to let go – to the final song listened to us in the witch wagon, a song I still find difficult to listen to. And our last kiss…. Outside your driveway, you kissed me and said “thank you for all you do. For everything. I love you.” And you ran inside. I drove away unknowing that fate would take you away.
A light faded away the following morning. A strong, beautiful, unimaginable, talented, passionate light, that taught me many things. To love, and to forgive. A light that still echoes and will forever remain imprinted inside of me. Tears that were unstoppable in that final moment, when I told you I love you, and promised you, I will find you again. Just like at Solange, between a crowd of thousand people, between a thousand stars and galaxies, I will find you. I vowed this, as your life drifted away, and then you were gone.
I still feel you. I can still smell you. I drive in the wagon glancing over where you sat, and gently touch the empty space. Under the disco ball I dance alone with arms outstretched, calling out to you wherever you are. Sometimes I see you, in a crowd and the lights. You still stop me in my tracks. And I can only think that you are somewhere out there free, as the light that you always were. Creating a sun or a solar system, or a moon to a very lucky planet.
I’m left with memories; beautiful and powerful memories. I can only hope, that wherever you are, you find them as precious as I do. Keep shining bright, keep breaking boundaries, and keep loving. Sleep well my love. And Merry Christmas.

So far Grandma has told Zoey what she needs to do to make this ritual feel right and like her own, informed Stevie Rae she can use a rowan wand from the Spells and Rituals classroom for her symbol, and is outright providing Zoey with her symbol (thereby requiring zero effort on Zoey's part). I know I've said this before, but I'm getting very, very tired of Grandma's character constantly being about magic and mysticism and wisdom. Just let her be an actual human being!

Secrets
The best secrets are never shared with anyone. There are very few real secrets, in this world.
Transparency is essential for progress.
While it is hard to bury emotions, thoughts can be hidden easily.
Often, it takes time for the mind to process all the emotions that manifest themselves, from the soul.
A secret can only be safe when forgotten. A lot of friends called me a “vault”, for that, I put effort to forget secrets a minute after I hear them.
No legitimate knowledge should be a secret. And, those who make a secret of a set of knowledge are most certainly charlatans. That’s especially true for “esoteric” knowledge, learning the Taro(t), to read auras, or even meditation, for example, should always be free of charge.
By the end of The Day, there are no True religions. There is only every human being, facing every other atom in the Universe, what I call “God”. Every religion tries to get each one of us further, but none contains the whole Universe, they all complement each other. So, all religions in the world, put together, are a meagre attempt to reach, understand, and feel everything else. In that respect, Hinduism is probably the most complete one, since it consciously encompasses and tolerate all the others. A deity, in Hinduism, is a form of potent energy, and there are no limitations to the number or the kind of deities, it’s a huge space for the soul to move around.
Knight Templars were not devil worshippers. They were made pariahs because they had contact with the Muslim faith and came to respect and learn from the Muslim world, after meeting their local equivalent. It created the mistrust of the Pope and the French King. This is what they could not defend in court. The rest, the so-called “Baphomet” worship, was an alchemical symbol accepted by Western Crafts, at the time, and was not the problem. They were suspected to have joined the “Devil”, converting to the Muslim faith, in secret, and sabotaging Christians from keeping the Holy Land. The Knight Templars, unconsciously, brought Enlightenment to the West, through Geometry, the number 0, Symbology, and Medicine. They were although more advanced in “alchemy”, and most sciences. Like creating the modern banking system, they had no plan for any of those. At the base, they were just the burnt-heads of every impoverished aristocratic family, wanting to be granted a place in heaven. Those burnt-heads were turned mystics and put through a very rigid and codified lifestyle. Even going down the steps, in the fortress was done 5 by 5, one level at a time. As for missions, Templars were paired, in a way where your Brother was more important than yourself, his life more precious than yours, and a sense of duty, whereby, failing, in a mission, was a shame you could not take. As for being taken prisoner, and tortured, never. You fought till death. This why, Templars who made it back home, made no sense, to the rest of the population, and ended up just drinking, and being incoherent, to the rest of the population. This is why, a lot of Templars just retired in the Middle-East, taking a local wife and becoming part of the social fabric. They still have descendants, all over the region, and probably tried to remain active, although undercover, like their Scottish counterparts. Is it important? No. The lesson is just about secrecy. At the time, with the atmosphere of persecution, they didn’t feel safe making their knowledge public. Eventually, they did. As for the Holy Grail, personally, I doubt they discovered much. They did, however, got more evidence, than anyone else of Essene traces, and “Essene sects” very close to early Christianity. They probably found or bought authentic scrolls or engravings that proved that, around Jesus’ time, there was a new form of Judas-ism, closer to Pythagorean beliefs and sciences. My 1 rupee, from 1974, maybe that’s why Jesus felt betrayed by “Judas”, and Christianity was born, out of Judaism, as a separate set of beliefs. The Muslim religion recognizes both Judaism and Christianity, mixing the Kahb’Allah with Pythagorean Ratios and Symbology. Of all three religions, the Koran is the most beautifully written, as well as being the most understandable. I don’t like the Bible, it’s been re-written too many times, to be correct and truly understood, without priests subjectively interpreting it. There should be no intermediary between a human being and God. as for Judaism, the Zohar is a mathematical beauty, I don’t have the pretension of being acquainted with it, I just have some notions of the Kahb’Allah. It’s probable that Jews new the name of Allah, as well as Yahve. After all, they come from the Middle-East. This is why it’s sad that Jews and Muslims don’t get along, in the Middle-East, they are both Arabs and Middle-Eastern. The modern compromise would be for Israel to be Generous towards Palestine, establish priveledged relationships, makes peace with Iran, and stop its compulsary military service. As for Saudi Arabia, it should stop being the lap dog of the USA, in its region. I lived there, there are entire cities of GIs, the whole country is a US army base, I don’t blame Iran for being cautious or paranoid. The Muslim religion and the whole world deserve and should have a New Golden Age, driven by Compassion, Tolerance, and Peace...for ALL. That’s why China and India look like a Papa and a Mamma. Chinese wisdom says: “whatever is, we’ll do with it...”, and Hinduism says: “we’ll create more space for their Gods, saints, and Messiahs...”. I still maintain, that if those two countries alone wanted, they could take over the world, together, anytime. But they don’t. Instead, they are making their people evolve, economically, intellectually, and spiritually. China is the most developed Nation in the world, technologically, and India is not far behind. Silicon Valley lives on its reputation, but they both have much bigger and better. as for India, it has rocked its own social system, after thousands of years, systematically erradicating the cast system and reforming rape laws as well as traditional marriages with minors. Both Nations deserve Kudos for that. Not only for the accomplishments, but, also, for doing it so humbly, with dignity, and hard work. USA: learn your lesson, one decade of hard work is not enough...
My vote for Nation Of The Year 2017: Both China and India
My vote for Worst Nation Of The Year 2017: USA, twice
My vote for Potential Nation Of The Year 2018: the EU, if it takes the UK back, Northern Europe (Denmark-Sweden-Iceland-Finland-Norway), Holland, and Russia
My vote for Leaders Of The Year 2017: Mr Xi, Mr Putin, Mr Macron, ANGELa, and Sir JUSTin.
My vote for Most Courageous Nation Of The Year 2017: the UK
My vote for Nation With The Most Potential Of The Year 2017: Canada.
My vote for Most Suffering Nation Of The Year 2017: Syria, Lebanon, Bangladesh, Somalia, Sudanese born in Saudi Arabia, and others.
My vote for Nation Who Had To Take Bullshit Unfairly Of The Year 2017: Mexico from the USA, with the stupidest idea in Modern Times, a “Wall”, paid by Mexicans, against their will, fucking with their border resources, and stealing tons of land. What a shame, the initiators should be punished, for that, to start with.
My vote for Most Potent Political Event Of The Year 2017: 4 US ex-Presidents coming together, to denounce what is happening in the House they all lived in, at one point, in Washington DC. George W was awesome! I had my differences with him, when he got re-elected, but this gives him 1,6 extra points, right away. He was honest, his delivery was heart-felt, for once, he knew his speech by heart. That’s how you judge politicians, by their legacy. Those 4 insisted to appear together, publicly, to share their convictions. For them to do it, the shit must be really bad, don’t you think so? I wish Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Willie Nelson, Stevie Wonder, KRS One, Saul Williams, Al Green, Eminem, Missie Eliot, Jermaine Dupri, Chris Rock (since he’s brilliant and was a Good friend of ODB), Raekwon (and surviving members of Wu-Tan), Nas, LL Cool J, Ice-T, Jay-Z, Puff Daddy, Busta Rhymes, Simon and Garfrunkel, Johnnie Depp, Colbert, Dave Stewart, Eddie Murphy, Leonardo DiCaprio, Chapelle from the Chapelle Show, Mr Elf with his Cowbell, surrounded by other Luminaries, from the US, Canada, like Neil Young, and Mexico, did the same, and gave the proceedings to people who really need it, in the three Nations. Between Bob, Bruce, Willie, and Stevie, at least 49% of the USA is going to react. Those guys are music Royalty, their words are Golden, for everyone who tunes in. I sincerely doubt any of them is eager to go to Washington DC, any time soon. Maybe they can all do a cover of “Imagine”, as 1 of the tunes, the 1 they all sing together. Maybe a title like “Two Roses (1 Red 1 White) For Nations With A Heart”, this is long, I can jam on it, if needed. I trust Stevie for the healing Ratios, this Genius is truly Amazing.
ODB is my favourite rapper and producer of all times. No one took his place, for almost two decades now. The guy was a Genius, every tune he wrote or produced is flawlessly crafted. I don’t believe that he was a junkie, he was just a rebel. I used to laugh my head off, reading the gossip columns of his antics, in the project, when I was in the Bronx, at the end of the 90s, when he was still alive. He was very respected in New York, but everyone was eager to see how eccentric and erratic he would behave. He had a Great sense of humour and wit, in his own flamboyant and public way. But, musically, in his Craft, a True Master, laying every brick in a Perfect and Conscious way. That’s what you call legacy, no one remembers the gossip.
There are two comedians I miss seeing on “TV”: Chris Rock and Chapelle. They are both brilliant, in their own style. Chapelle’s Show is probably the only incomplete series that became an instant Legend, the guy is beyond talented. As for Chris Rock, impeccable. I’m not always in the mood for his tone of voice, but the guy is real, his stories hit a chord, with his delivery. Plus, he collaborated with ODB, that’s plus loads of points, in my book.
Blasphemous Column: I respect Brad Pitt, but, is Angela Jolie free?
Leonardo DiCaprio became the favourite actor, or ex-aequo with Depp, from my Generation, after I saw him act in Edgar, the movie about J. E. Hoover. I was impressed, on my ass, what an amazing actor. He portrayed flawlessly a man from 9 to 99 years-old. Wow. Respect. He is a Master at his Craft.
