Floating memories

Soap x f!reader

Warnings: Fluff overload.

Summary: soap and Y/N take some time to unwind in the water near base. Just as water flows, so do feelings.

(A/N: I don’t see many soap fics and our boy deserves some love)

Y/N let the lapping water carry her body graciously, unwinding from the mission. The same churning waters they trudged through earlier that week after jumping from the boat was now calm, almost serene. It was always odd how something so deadly could also be graceful. Low waves kiss against her face as she basks in the fruitful moonlight. Home was far away, but she could always find her home in the ocean.

The water churns, sending Y/N to be alert and hoping the tide was just rising. Her worries were met with a gentle hand pressed on her back, guiding her in to a familiar embrace.

“Tough day Johnny?” She whispers out, raising a dripping hand to the side of his face and looking to him in wonder.

He careens in to her touch, nestling deeper in to the intimacy of a gentle hand and sighs,” sometimes I wish our jobs could be easy for once.”

“You did what you could, no one’s upset with you. The mission was still a success… So, a full mind must have you out here this late I take it?” Y/N questions towards him, dropping her feet to the ocean floor and standing to hear him better.

Soap nods,” I also seen you come out here after hard days, figured I’d give it a go.”

She breathes a slight laugh,” Soap, I come out here because it reminds me of home. There’s no magic to it.”

“Are you sure? I feel better already.” He chuckles back, splashing at the water playfully and dousing an already wet Y/N. She smiles, maneuvering her legs under the water to trip him and send him hurtling down.

“Right, because picking on me always makes you feel better, huh?” Y/N chides playfully when he surfaces, only to dunk his head back under.

“You sneaky devil!” He gasps, spitting water away and tackling her, sending them both below the surface. It was almost cinematic how the moon sparkled through the water, illuminating the ethereal world below and accentuating Johnny in a heavenly glow from behind. Y/N couldn’t bring herself to close her stinging eyes, whether it be in shock or awe that she thought a man nicknamed Soap was handsome in this moment, she’d never know. But she couldn’t look away at the masterpiece painted in front of her, Soap with his eyes shut in tranquility and a tight lipped smile to prevent water from slipping through his delicate lips. Y/N takes the risk of brushing her fingertips against his chest, trailing upwards and finally pulling him back to the surface by his jaw.

“Is everything alright, Y/N?” He asks worriedly, gripping her chilled shoulders tightly and searching for an answer. She looks away bashfully, clearing her throat of her excuse,” just thought I seen something Johnny. Nothing to worry about.”

“Your ass is hanging out the window. Out with it.” Soap presses, knowing fair and well something had rattled Y/N to the core.

“I’m not quite sure I know what you just said.” She chuckles back nervously, finally meeting his gaze once again. Soap smirks,”you’re lying. It means you’re lying and you’re bad at it.”

Y/N bites her lip, raising a brow in mock confusion before finally faltering,” you looked handsome… under the water.”

It was a weak attempt at admittance and spoke barely above a whisper and she could only hope the waves drowned out her voice.

“Well I know I’m handsome. Would you like to see it again?” Soap winks in exaggeration, hoping to lighten the situation, and also hoping she would say yes. The eye roll of reply is deepened by the smack on his chest,” don’t get too confident now, Soap. It’s not too late to drown you and claim it was a freak accident.”

“Ouch, no longer on a first name basis? I’m scorned, an arrow shot directly through my beating heart, Y/N.” He presses a hand to his chest, closing his eyes dramatically and falling against the water behind him. The anxious itch is dulled by the desire to pull him back under, and so she does, only this time being met with his open eyes. The salt water stung, but it was a price worth paying to view a true watercolor painting. Y/N closes her eyes to settle the sting and capture the image to burn in to her memories. The sensation of his lips ghosting against hers draws shocked movement and sends her ascending for air.

Soap stayed below, disappearing from view and reach to try and sway the ass chewing that was bound to happen. She looked around frantically, only stopped by the strong arms wrapping around her from behind and the voice tickling against her ear,” you look beautiful… under the water.”

Her body relaxes in to his, breaths deepening at his touch. It no longer felt like home in the ocean as it had been outmatched by his embrace in this moment, and she would never admit it out loud.

“Johnny-“ Y/N breathes out only to be cut off by another tickle at her ear from his laugh,” there’s the first name. Say it again for me, please?”

“Don’t push it.” She warns him before continuing,” why’d you really come out here?”

He closes his arms around her tighter, unconsciously swaying with the waves and lulling Y/N to a sense of total calm.

“Originally, I was going to dunk you under the water, I’ll be honest on that. But you looked happy… I’d be lying if I said I never dream of you looking at me in that way.” He pauses midway through to rest his head against her neck, melting at the hand she stretched back and ran through his dampened hair.

“Johnny, we shouldn’t go down this road, you know that.” Y/N warns, ultimately thinking about her job above all else.

“Are you saying that for me, or for you? I’m well aware of the risks, Y/N.” He mutters against her neck, vibrating electricity against her skin and dulling her senses.

“And if you have to watch me die, what will you do then, Johnny?” Y/N murmurs back, dropping her hand from his head to rub some heat back in to her body.

“The only way that’ll happen is if my death is quick to follow.” Soap reassures her, unwrapping his arms to spin her around facing him,” and it’ll be a cold day in hell if that ever happens.”

Her head smacks against his chest and she groans at the frustration of giving in. Temptation was always a threat to be indulged, but what was really going to change? They were already battle buddies, protecting each other with their lives.

“Y/N, I let you go once… I can’t let that happen again.” Soap admits, resting his chin against the top of her head.

“You didn’t let me go when you didn’t have me in the first place. What are you getting on about?” Y/N asks in confusion as he places a kiss against her salty hair,” I let you go the day I set my eyes on you and knew we were doomed to the same fate. Dying faceless heroes, or going home with the burden of thinking we were the enemy all along.”

“Johnny, your attempt at poetic words isn’t going to win me over.” Y/N huffs a laugh, letting her arms unconsciously trace the muscles of his back as her eyes search his gaze.

The side of his mouth raises slightly, “you gotta admit, it worked a little bit.”

“And if i don’t admit that?” She questions, watching as his smile only rose even more,” well, I’ll just have to drown it out of ya.”

Soap’s arms dart down quickly, encircling around Y/N’s thighs and throwing her over his shoulder. A fit of laughs burst from Y/N as she tries to keep her head from hitting the water,” put me down you crazy man!”

“Only if you promise to give me one chance. If I don’t make you the happiest woman on this earth, then I’ll die trying.” Soap offers, tilting her lower and lower to the water. Her forehead hits the cool water, releasing a strangled shriek,” alright! One chance Mactavish! Now put me down!”

“Your wish is my command.” He replies smugly, releasing her legs and being there to accept the punch to the stomach when she resurfaced.

“That’s not a good start!” Y/N growls, inevitably throwing the gut punch he waited anxiously for with a smile,” that’s what you get for using my last name princess.”

He wipes the sopping wet mess of hair from her face and cups her chin with both hands, sighing with a dummy grin plastered on his face,” and a warning that’s the furthest I’ll ever let you fall so long as you’re mine.”

Soap pulls her forward, gently kissing her forehead, then the bridge of her nose, and finally a ghostly light kiss against her lips. Y/N replies with a needy kiss back, drunk on his promise and uncanny ability to make her legs weak with words.

“That’s a hefty promise.” She breathes out while pulling away. He sucks air back in to his aching lungs,” if it means getting kissed like that, it’s one worth making.”

“Come on love bird, it’s getting cold out here.” Y/N laughs, shivering at the cool air biting against her knees as her feet hit the shore. Just as soon as her feet met the ground, they’re just as quickly swept away as Soap hoists her in to his arms,” you look a little weak in the knees, Y/N. Let me carry you and get ya warmed up on the way.”

“You’re going to get so much shit when they see you carrying me through that door.”

“I’m prepared for it.”

“Are you really, Johnny?”

“It’s gonna hurt like hell, but holding you close is all that matters.”

“You’re such a sap.”

“Only to sweeten your bitterness my love.”

∘ sexcapade - @hamsterclaw | h, f | 18+ so i inhaled most of rei’s masterlist but haven’t yet screamed abt all the fics, i will, asap! but this one - wow! there’s no actual smut in here but the entire story revolves around sex. the banter, jimin’s sexiness, oc being relatable - i love everything abt the fic! <3

∘ let’s get quizzical - @taleasnewastime | a, h, s, d, h | 18+ ❥ one of the most amazing f2l fics i’ve ever read!!! jimin’s cluelessness, oc’s pining, the angst bec oc is a pessimist like me - and oh! their entire bunch of idiots? everything is sO good! i read it back in april and while looking for the link, i read it again yesterday, lmao. <3

∘ nectar - @gimmethatagustd | a, s, d, h, f | 18+ | tw this is a vamoire!reader x human!jimin - a rare and intriguing foundation, to begin with. and then you take in their personalities, and this fic becomes a delightful ride! jimin is the cutest bean in the whole world, oc is in her goth era and we also have nikki being the kind of friend i crave to have irl. the friendship and the chemistry between oc and jimin - chef’s kiss! please read this and shower jai w the love they deserve, y’all! <3

∘ limitless - @kimvtae | a, d | pg-15 | tw brutally smashed my heart, but if you know me, you know that i enjoyed every bit of it. (: this one has an open end and man i love the way it is left on an ominous note sO mucH! <3

∘ arte factum - @lolabangtan | a, d, s | 18+ | tw oh god this fic gave me the shivers!!! amazingly woven story, with both the smut and the mystery hitting exactly the right way! absolutely loved everything from start to the end, but especially the end. <3

∘ meet me at the finish line - @parkdatjimin | a, d, s, h , f | 18+ | tw ❥ jimin in this fic??? the biggest sweetheart ever, okay? he’s so caring and kind and just overall wonderful, even when him and oc are supposed to be rivals. :( their rivalry is such a cute journey, tho. loved the way it developed as they aged, and then the way their romance bloomed from it. <3

∘ i still want you - @parkdatjimin | a, s, d | 18+ the way this tore my heart apart and then julienned it? oc’s pov was bad enough, but then we had to see things from jimin’s pov too??? why, mindy, whY must you be so amazing at portraying gut-wrenching heartbreak? :( i love this fic so much!

∘ freak in you - @pshychives | s, f | 18+ okay, so this one is a steamy ride and a half - hot af and so well written! please, the way oc and jimin can’t get enough of each other? made me horny cry so many times, ughhh. absolutely amazing, dear writer, i am biting my knuckles as i write this bec this was too sexy! <3

∘ a remedy for mondays - @dovechim | a, s, h, d | 18+ this one is such a unique story! a hilarious but also emotional ride all the way through. absolutely loved reading it <3

∘ love again - @taestefully-in-luv | a, s, d, h | 18+ ❥ ahhh, one of the most amazing series i’ve followed in a while! dear writer does a brilliant job writing the most perfect humor, heartbreak and smut! aside from the amazing amazing chemistry bw jimin and oc, i love every other element of the fic thoroughly as well - from hobi’s friendship w oc, tae’s obsession w jimin and oc, the whole lucy thing (ew), dae’s entanglement w you-know-who, jeremy and naomi and even joon!!! <333

∘ gemini - @hamsterclaw | a, d, s, h, f | 18+ this whole au has my entire heart, ugh, especially yoongi’s playboy self and the bond he shares w oc, contrary to it! this fic, godddd, it hurt so bad but healed so good. the second half of this story, please, we love an oc who can build her life the way she wants to! <3

∘ fwb with jimin - @btssmutgalore | s | 18+ dee is a smut connoisseur, her blog’s name says it all, there’s no debate. and this is another masterpiece on her list. the subtle friend’s-sister backstory makes this all the more steamier, and when dom!jimin jumps out? mahhhn, we need some air-conditioning in here! this one is too good! <3

∘ adonis - @xjoonchildx | h | pg-16 ana wrote a 3k+ words drabble so she’s my role model now. (: LMAO, this fic is so fkn hilarious, man! i absolutely LOVE mrs. yun - how to be her neighbor, pls??? and as oc asked, who tf is doing recruitment in the city? lolol and the doordash driver giving her a thumbs up at the end? reading this fic felt like i was watching a romcom and i appreciated every second of it! <3

❥ note: that is all i got for now! a total of 14 fics with 9 one-shots, 3 series and 2 drabbles!

as always, there is a strong chance i might have read something but forgotten to save it, in which case i will include it in the next list when i find it again. i really hope all the readers, out there, make use of this list and give all these fics a try and all these wonderful writers some much deserved love! ❤️

I know we shouldn't compare them because it's not fair but when I think about how much criticism rwrb received as a film and how it was never enough for the audience but the first reviews of the idea of you call it "film of the decade" (I really doubt it, please people watch more movies) or say that people were screaming in the theater during the sex scenes... As a queer person it makes me suffer that the projects made for us are never good enough for the public but for straight films literally is enough the bare minimum to make them scream masterpiece. Again, this isn't a comparison or hate for tioy but it makes me sad.

Honestly, I'm in the exact same place as you are. I was thinking about it a lot this morning.

I don't know how fair my judgement is because I am inherently biased towards RWRB but I also feel upset about how much TIOY is getting compared to RWRB. Granted TIOY has the advantage of star power, with Nick being more well-known after RWRB and M&G and Anne freaking Hatheway, and to a certain degree One Direction/ Harry Styles, but just from the premise... It's doesn't sound as groundbreaking or new as what RWRB or even M&G did. I can expect it to be a fun romantic movie, but I can't see it being something as... fresh and impactful/ meaningful to an audience as RWRB and M&G are.

I don't know how much right I have to say this as someone who currently identifies as cis-straight, but the double standards between queer media like RWRB and heterosexual media like TIOY is very frustrating, It's like there's so many more steps for queer media to climb to "catch up" with a straight media of a similar genre/premise. Even with the ratings, RWRB did not deserve R at all. But I do think we're gradually making steps towards improving this phenomenon. Slow steps, but steps nonetheless. So please don't loose hope.

As for "film of the decade"... I'm sorry but that's gotta be an exaggeration. Stuff like Barbie, Oppenheimer, Avenger Endgame, Spider-Verse being called "film of the decade", I can understand, but this is not it. Hell, as much as it's straight up part of my soul now, I don't think RWRB fits "film of the decade". If we're taking that title seriously, then that's gotta be something really creative and new, something that hits hard. So yeah, you're right. People need to watch more movies, or have better media literacy.

I don't think there's been a single day since the movie was released that I didn't agonize and grieve over what we could have had. RWRB had so many disadvantages: As upsetting as it is, queer media, especially rom-com is still inherently seen as something lesser, which is fucked up, but unfortunately it's where we're at right now. On top of that, the timing of the strike directly coincides with the promo period of RWRB. The strike was for a good cause and achieved great things for actors, it was necessary, but that doesn't stop the lost of what we could have from hurting. So compared to other movies and projects (and not even necessarily just the boys' projects, recent streaming media in general) RWRB had so many disadvantages. If this was a race, then our starting line was pulled back a couple of miles.

But on the bright side, you gotta think: even with nearly zero promo, even with so many disadvantages and setbacks, RWRB still managed to achieve a lot: Most streamed movie on the platform globally for (I think?) three weeks, top most-streamed three romcoms on the platform all time, PGA and Glaad award nomination (and hopefully more to come down the line) and look at us! We're still going strong, and a sequel is in talks. There's never a fair comparison when it comes to things like this, but I said we're pretty amazing, and that's something that can't be taken away.

okay so my twin @saturnisonf1re made me watch headless today and i am SO INSANE

so ive been watching shipwrecked since poe party AND THE EFFORT THAT WENT INTO HEADLESS IS ASTRONOMICAL

like… the shots, the script, the characters, the actors, MARY KATE WITH A SWORD??? it was so incredible to watch. the twist? freaking GOBSMACKED.

and brom and mathilda??? was so fun?? and kat was so good omg. i sensed much homosexual energy from mathilda towards kat i need a minute.

like the absolute TRAGEDY of mathilda trying so hard to save the only person that mattered to her (super gay btw) but in the ending choosing not to because maybe Ichabod wasn’t so bad. the SUBTEXT of Ichabod making mathildas life worth it without kat? its almost (definitely is) shakespearian.

and the little family shot at the end? where brom and mathilda could move on from kat TOGETHER??? and ichabod was teaching highschool?? that ending was so powerful in that everyone got they wanted/needed. mathilda got her store and somebody to support her in the way she wished kat would’ve. brom got the wife he wanted, but also someone who would support him (other than his babes) Ichabod moved up a level, both physically (middle to high school) and mentally, as he is no longer a newcomer but rather a returning citizen.

and the fact that the fake book is a reoccurring object?? its GOT TO be alluding to the message/theme of ‘dont judge a book by its cover’ that we see with all the characters. brom appears to be a shallow, fake character but turns out to be a supportive, loyal friend who genuinely wants to be better. ichabod seems like a loser (which he is, affectionately) but is actually a key piece in the puzzle and the worthiest of his bloodline. kat is self explanatory, although her character is so nuanced and layered that she deserves her own post. mathilda seems gloomy and as if she doesn’t care about anything but really cared a lot. and henrietta hudson was a woman, not a man like everyone assumed.

speaking of assumed, brom is one of my favourite characters, and i loved how it didn’t seem as if he was genuinely upset at himself for messing up Ichabods court case BUT HE WAS. we just assumed he wasnt. he is my favourite male wife and gabe is so freaking funny

this is a masterpiece of cinema, and honestly the most impressive thing, as a creative myself, is the fact that they got past the “this would be cool to make” phase and actually finished the project!

it’s truly unlike any other show on youtube, in the best possible way

The latest Alisha Rai novel. The Automae, a race made originally so the Queen can have an heir, are in power on the throne and treat humans as less than them. Alya, a human peasant working in the palace as Lady Crier, the current heir to the throne's, maid servant, is part of the rebellion to get rid of the Automae and her job is to assassinate Lady Crier. However once she meets Crier she learns she's not as cold and robotic as what she thought her to be.

3. Winter of the Gods (Olympus Bound #2) - Jordanna Max Brodsky

Okay, so cheating a bit since this is the second of a trilogy, but this is my favorite.

Artemis, under the alias, Selene diSilva, is the detective of another cult murder spree with the help of her friend, Theo. This time someone is sacrificing the other Greek Gods in old Greek cult rituals. Selene has to figure out who it is before she could become the cult's next victim.

4. My Sister, the Serial Killer -Oyinkan Braithwaite

Set in Nigeria, Korede is painfully familiar with what to do when her sister, Ayoola calls her to let her know that once again, she's killed her boyfriend in self defense. Helping her to clean up and get rid of the body (i.e., Korede does it all herself while Ayoola pretends to shed a tear during her explanations), she comes up with a plan to make sure Ayoola doesn't get caught. Then one day at Korede's job as nurse, she meets a doctor she develops a crush on. The problem is, Ayoola does too. Does Korede let Ayoola go out with him knowing what will eventually happen to him, or will she stop her sister?

5. I'm Glad My Mom Died - Jennette McCurdy

I've been a fan of Jennette McCurdy since I first saw iCarly. Reading her memoir is one of the most devastating yet most enlightening things I've ever done. She talks about her trauma as a child star with such humor and candor, that even now after months reading it, I can't get it out of my head.

6. Red, White, and Royal Blue - Casey McQuiston

We all know what this is about it.

7. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue- V.E. Schwab

In France, 1714, Addie LaRue makes a deal with the devil to live forever, however she must always be forgotten by all who know her. 300 years later, she meets a man who for some miraculous reason remembers her.

8. You Deserve Each Other- Sarah Hogle

This romance novel made me laugh SO many times! Naomi and Nicholas are now in a loveless engagement. However, neither wanting to back out of the wedding, both decide to play pranks on each other to see how far the other will go until they DO back out. One of my favorite things about this book is the mother-in-law story. If you liked The Hating Game, you'll probably enjoy this book just as much. One of my favorite things about this book is the mother-in-law plot. So hilarious and then so freeing at the end for Nicholas.

9. Yellowface - R.F. Kuang

June Hayward and Athena Liu are hanging out when Athena dies in a freak accident. Acting on impulse and jealousy, June steals Athena's literary masterpiece, claiming it as her own. To better sell the novel of Chinese loborers during the British and French war efforts of WWI, she lets her publisher rebrand her as Juniper Song despite having previous novels under her birth name. Soon outcry of this farce sparks more scandal as more and more people learn of June's secrets.

after seeing ur blogs, i've finally decided to give the priscilla movie a chance. and oh my i have no words. i just finished the movie literally not even 3 minutes ago & immediately open tumblr, had to tell u that highkey.... elvis n priscilla (b4 marriage 🫡) reminds me sm of how u write rafe n reader (maybe minus the toxic parts & the age gap !!!!!). i couldn't help but think of u & ur writings the whole time i was watching it. also priscilla's personality & characteristics in that movie is just how i've always imagine reader/mc are in fanfics FOR YEARS, and seeing her just... got me.... UGHHHHH 🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹🥹

not to mention that i was literally freaking out & almost shed a tear when they started playing the song 'forever by the little dippers' on the movie ... the amount of rafe scenarios i've made in my head while listening to that song is just insane. but enough said, that masterpiece completely changed me, priscilla deserves better :( im never gonna recover from that movie & its all ur fault !! 💔

hi bones!! i have recently read what you have written so far of through a glass divine!! i have a lot of thoughts so i will talk about the two most recent chapters.

i actually adored the writing at the end of chapter 8 when tommy calls wilbur by his name. its super in character of him because imagine you've just met this guy and you ask him his name and he keeps insisting that he doesn't have one and that he really isnt a person. and i think glass!tommy sees how fucked up this is and it's shown earlier that he's a caring person. i mean in the first few chapters he freaked out when he found out wilbur had gotten hurt, even if it was just a few little scratches. glass!tommy just kind of wants to help, but in the end he's just a kid with his own issues too and he doesn't exactly know how to do that. he's seen wilbur as a person since the get go even if wilbur himself didnt. that's the reason he didn't tell the others wilbur's name because he's not some secret to be passed around or a shiny crystal ball he is a person with free will and thoughts and he wants to treat him like a person because it's the least he deserves. i think maybe glass!tommy has some experience with being seen as something rather than someone being in the "scary death cult" and branded a terrorist rather than someone with admittedly messy motives and a good heart underneath it all.

also glass!wilbur pitching in that you know what yeah the others should kill him? fantastic. i love how shocked aimsey was by the way because wilbur still doesn't view himself as a person. i love the part where niki and jack jump to his defense and he is just so freaked out by it. he's been trying to figure out why everyone is being so patient with him especially jack and niki and in the end it's again because they value him as a person and understand that he has his reasons he has feelings. while yes wilbur was being a pain in the ass it is understandable to some degree and they acknowledge that they would do the same. and they never once say attacking tommy was okay but they do understand where he's coming from. glass!wilbur has been so conditioned to not recognize his own emotions and motives and has been taught time and time again to be a vessel for someone else and to finally have someone acknowledge his agency and understand it? yeah of course that's scary and it's brilliant writing!! the part where tommy gets mad at tubbo for comparing him to a stray dog? cinematic masterpiece by the way. also having chinese satellite on the glass playlist? AMAZING CHOICE. i can't wait to see where wilbur ends up on this journey!!

aaa hi!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the end of chapter 8! it felt super in character to me too. it's exactly what you said. tommy is a caring person, and he sees how fucked up a lot of the pythian traditions are, so he wants to help. but he's not going to go about it in the best way because, again, impulsive teenager that's part of a death cult. but he's seen wilbur as a person this whole time. him finding wilbur's name wasn't meant to disregard his personhood, which is why he doesn't tell it to the others either. he doesn't want to keep affirming the narrative of calling him by his title instead of a name, so yeah in tommy's mind it was just kind of his only option. but he's going to try and not be a dick about it. at least as best he can.

oh yeah aimsey was playing a very interesting role in the argument because while they defended tubbo, they weren't really on his side. they don't want to kill the pythia and they were horrified when he agreed with it himself. they were only defending tubbo because tommy shoved him, and they didn't want things to get physical.

niki and jack my beloveds!! yeah they've actually spent a lot of time with him alongside tommy, so they jump to his defense because they both have a better idea of what he's actually like as a person compared to most of the deathlings. they also both know they're bitchy people who would probably react the same way he did to the entire situation, so they just get it.

wilbur is terrified that he's finally being perceived as a person and not a deity. the fear of being known and all that. he's not used to that acknowledgement in the slightest and it's just scary!!

i'm so glad you're enjoying so far! the tubbo dog line I actually came up with on the spot while I was writing and i was thrilled with how the scene played out in my head

(also, love chinese satellite as a song so much. I especially think the lines "Pretending to be myself / Why would somebody do this on purpose / When they could do something else?" fits glass!wilbur so much. ty eli birdfeet for suggesting it to me)

"Oppie"

There are only 3 movies that highlighted 2023 for me. To be fair, this year I only managed to watch maybe more or less, 10 current movies , my fewest, ever. I had so many challenges faced this year that 2023 feels like a freaking nightmare and the problems never stop. 🤣 But anyways....

Oppenheimer is one of the 3 movies I liked this year. The best for me but not my favorite, my favorite is Air: Courting a Legend then Journey to Bethlehem.

This is not a total or intricate review of the movie. Everybody played their role great esp Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. Hence, their nominations are well deserved.

Only a few 3 hour movies will keep me glued, this is one of them. Im always interested about the atomic bomb and warfare policies, history and such. When this was announced, I became so interested esp the actors in it.

For me, Robert Oppenheimer is both a hero and anti hero. A very conflicted man but not an innocent one, he knew what he was doing, he made his bed and laid on it. His moral compass has always been there and to be fair most, most scientists are in no way morally upright. They value science more than anything. Weird, nerds-they are exactly like that. Geniuses, extraordinary intellectuals with flawed, egoistic character, not to mention their not so perfect love life- the messy ones like any other.

Robert is a very complicated man. He is just good at compartmentalizing. He did his duty as he sees fit but yes,he also aimed for glory. Why not? Are politicians and war mongers are the ones only allowed on Time magazines? scientists greatly deserve it, too. The movie made Robert human and not just focus on his brain cells and the atomic bomb. It is both a gift and curse to mankind.

A gift to science and breakthrough but a curse to people. However, as much as ideally speaking, we can always say Robert has a choice, if he doesn't want blood on his hands, he could have walked away but no, he knew. He changed his convictions later on but he still made the bomb that killed hundreds of thousands. There was a war and in wars, you have to pick a side. He chose his. He made a bomb but doesn't want the bomb to hurt anyone? Ridiculous, right?

Both Oppie and Straus made sense. Oppie just had the better resume for a war hero plus, Straus was really vindictive and jealous, too. Scientists, majority of them rallied around Oppie because the system sucks. One day you are a hero, the next you are not. The government has always been an enemy for some but at the same time,the standard of excellence and success. Oppie wanted the masses to know, wanted his theories to be for the common people and good.

Oppie as he said became a bringer of death. As much as I loathe wars, old people deciding wars killing innocent ones, a war or fight sadly, is part of our DNA, whether as a system or among ourselves. We are all conflicted, Oppie just happened to be conflicted more.

The bomb to end all wars is also a bomb that starts a war. They are all soldiers. If Robert didn't make it, others will. That is a fact. Robert and America just wanted to be 1st. It killed a lot and saved a lot, too but I know killed more. That's why in war, it is always unfair. Christopher Nolan wanted to show the bad side, the conscience of Oppie, the government's trait of using people for their benefit trope but in the end, the movie still projected Robert to be the hero majority of Americans view as. He did what he had to do.

I oppose wars and fights by all means, but growing up as a child of a man in uniform, we are fighting for what we believe is right. We protect people we love esp our homeland and mostly at the expense of a lot. Unfair as it may seems, our freedom is not absolute and mostly, we choose a side. Robert did, too. History will continue to judge him and the movie? Well, for me is a masterpiece of story telling.

He made his bed until now he is laying on it even after his death. Robert was unapologetic. Even though he was conflicted, he didn't reason out himself as "i didn't know it will be in the wrong hands". No, he owned it through and through. The right and genius thing to do. Let the people decide. But I guess Oppie wanted that, too. To be deemed a hero, a villain and a victim. To be an eternal debate. Nonetheless, to be remembered, forever whichever side you are on.

Oh, lastly, give Cillian his fookin oscar next year!

Okay, this chapter really got to me. I’ve experienced the attacks and I’ve been in a situation when I was near someone I didn’t want to be and had the panic set in. It absolutely sucks but you wrote it exactly as it happens. (Sorry if you also experience this type of shit💗) The way Eddie was able to keep his cool (even thought he absolutely panicked) and make her feel safe. 🥺 Steve & Robin also coming to the rescue. And he immediately felt bad for not sticking around. (MY BELOVED IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT.)😩 I hope he understands the lash out in the bathroom was PTSD driven and not her actually believing he would ever do that.

It's so frustrating because AM deserve every award !

Alex puts so much thoughts in his work to make it perfect and IT IS. It's a fucking masterpiece.

They don't do music to be popular or to be a trend or even for awards ! Wich is why they should get it.

Everyone in this generation is just hypocrite. They like to say they want true artists and not fame-hungry people with no talent but good connections, yet here we are.

AM do music for the music and that's it. They stay in their lane and just do what they want without any thoughts on what would 'work' or sell and that's why they're the greatest. They're themselves and they're freaking talented

I do absolutely agree with the sentiment; it's definitely frustrating. On the other hand - we just need to face the fact that that's just how these things work. They're very much centered around money and most of the time don't have much to do with awarding actual talent/effort/work.

And I suppose once we face that fact and fully take it in - become truly disenchanted with the concept of any sort of "prestigious art award" - we'll all be better off.

That's what the boys did right at the beginning; and that's what kept them from becoming bitter and also from being scared to explore, experiment and challenge themselves freely.

We'll all live better and freeer lives once we just decide to say 'fuck the system' 😌

I just read then whole of omegaverse and it has been one of the best ot7 fics out there. the storyline,the characters, the angst and smut and every single freaking thing in this story has my heart like tbh I can't believe a masterpiece like this exists. I just want you to know that this fic was the one which made me loose sleep in a sense I was like "one chapter more and then I'll sleep" and I couldn't rest until I finished it. You deserve so much more and I am so happy to know that you write and I came across your fic you have become my favourite author on this app. I have come across so many poly bts x reader fic like that is my favourite genre and you did it justice. Rocky IV review

I have seen Rocky IV for the first time. I don’t have much to say about this movie other that it’s freaking cool! I consider this one of my favorite Rocky movies of all time. Better than Rocky I and II. Rocky IV has brought me through a rollercoaster of emotions. This movie is one of a kind.

1st best part: The music that introduces Ivan Drago. It gives me supervillain vibes and I love it! Not only does Drago’s strength is like the perfect way to intimidate someone the music gives a certain evil feeling to the audience that screams “He’s dangerous”.

2nd best part: the training montage between Rocky and Drago. That scene is what I like to call a cinematic masterpiece. The background music was a splendid choice to show an American Boxer and a Soviet Giant and their training methods. What I love most about that scene is at the end, when Rocky climbed on the top of the mountain and screamed Drago a bunch of times that is what got me on the edge of my seat. This man right here has no fear to fight a giant man from Soviet Russia.

Now the biggest sad scene of all was Apollo’s Death. At first I thought “Apollo is going to lose to Drago, I just know it”. I say this because Apollo hasn’t fought anyone for 5 years and obviously that is going to make you lose. But when Apollo died I was shocked, speechless, and upset. The man didn’t deserve to die. And with all Rocky has been through, that scene, that scene made me cry. First Rocky lost Mick in Rocky III and in this movie Rocky lost Apollo Creed. The music chosen in this movie were all amazing choices of music and share the beauty of American culture and how things were back in the 80s. I rate this movie a 10/10 with five stars next to it. I recommend everyone to see Rocky IV even if y’all are not fans of boxing or fighting sports. If this is my last post of 2022 then happy New Year.
