i wanna try to get into enstars bc i like pjsk (even tho i am so bad at it) and also am gay but i find it overwhelming and confusing can u give me some tips or something
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Absolutely, I will do my best to help! It's very, very overwhelming and a lot so I don't blame you at all! I'll put everything under a cut because I'm autistic and very excited and have a Lot of links and things!
First, absolutely watch the Enstars anime. This will go over the main points / ideas of the Main Story of the first game (aka ! era). Strongly recommend watching in sub because the dub isn't very good.
Then, watch Element. This goes over the Element Arc of ! Era Main Story. They cover this in the main anime but not as good.
There's also a movie, which I have but I don't have a link for it. If you'd like the download + subtitle file for it, just shoot me an ask or dm me at @shinobukawajiri and I can help out! But it's not super lore important or anything so don't worry.
Alright! So you've seen the anime! Now you can get into the music. You could also listen to songs before the anime, really whatever you want! For this, I'd suggest going to the wiki and picking a Unit! Check out their discography, which you can view from their wiki page and give the songs a listen. You can find all of them on YT! I'd definitely listen to a couple songs from all units to get a feel because they all have very different sounds! If there's a music genre you like let me know, and I can recommend some songs / units! There's also some Temporary Units + Shuffle Units, which have music as well that you can listen to! If you'd like some recommendations, lmk!
Now, after viewing the anime, and listening to songs, pick a Unit or some characters you like and focus on stories for them! Since there's a lot of stories it's better to just pick some favorites and go from there. Crazy:B and Alkaloid were introduced in !! era / the second game, so you won't see them in the anime, if they're of interest to you. Here is a guide for important stories from the first game for the characters in that.
To access stories for the first game / ! Era, you'll have to use the wayback machine, or you can just look up (story name) tl / translation on Google, and you should usually be able to find what you need, since they were forced to take down any tls on the wiki.
Now, there's two games as I've established. The first game is completely in Japanese, and I'd rely on Story translations from the wayback machine wiki. As for the new game, you can play in English! It's accessible from the appstore, but remember, this takes place AFTER the other game! You absolutely do not have to know all the lore / read all the stories or anything to play! I'm just mega autistic so lmao. But the English version of Enstars Music doesn't have the best translations, but it is more accessible. Though, if you become super invested like me and my partner, you can absolutely download the Japanese version of the game!
There's lots of people on Twitter who translate and things for the stories + general game things and id be happy to direct to them if you find yourself super enjoying the Series!
Basically it is VERY difficult bc there's also drama cds, stageplays, manga, but finding things translated or just finding them can take work but ofc all that isn't required. In general just have fun!!! Don't be deterred and like I said I'm more than happy to help find things or whatever anyone needs! Since my partner has been more invested for longer than me, we both can do our best to help!!
Also a note from said partner ;
to my wife’s autism anon: i am also autistic . enstars has been my favorite thing in the entire world since the ripe and beautiful year of 2019. this source is beautiful , fun , indulgent , deep as all hell , and So So So much to unpack . there is no such thing as a background character in enstars . there are 50 characters who are all so deeply fleshed out and have so much content and backstory to them so i am absolutely certain you will find somebody that appeals to you . enstars can have some pretty heavy topics at times it’s not your run of the mill happy idol franchise, but if you like project sekai (which i also LOVE) you will Love enstars . the game is so much fun , the characters are so deep and interesting and real , the stories are engaging and silly and wonderful, you will love it. you Have to. for me . stan knights

Strange Trials, Lord Huron
Tumblr media
Heyyy! So, I wanna start this little blog thing where I can talk more about music recommendations because somehow playlists seem not enough, and I love talking about albums and music in depth because, even though I did study music, I do love talking about it and spreading my knowledge. And I thought, what a better way to kick this off than with my favorite album? So, today I will talk about Strange Trials by Lord Huron.
American indie rock band, Lord Huron, formed in 2010 in Los Angeles California, consisting of Mark Barry, Miguel Briseño, Tom Renaud and Ben Schneider, have been pretty consistent regardin album aesthetics. “Formation” and “Lonesome Dreams” their first EP and album, respectively, intruduce you to magic worlds full of folk, love (and all its perks), and poetry. I can almost see how they have their little own world and I really think it is full of magic. Giving it just one listen may be enough, but I promise, you will want to hear more.
“Strange Trials” arrived in 2015. Being their second studio album, Lord Huron had it almost pretty figured out when it came to story-telling, and most of it, thanks so frontman and lyricsist Ben Schneider. You may have heard of it by its most famous song, The Night we Met, in Netflix series 13 Reasons Why, but I think its one of those albums you have to listen from start to end to get the full story.
Althought this is one of those lore-cmplicated bands and albums, and there a lot of holes in the story, just a quick Google search will let you know how much around this album there is. I also think its beautiful that there’s a lot open to interpretation here.
A couple of music videos where released, which, of course, follow the story in order. Through the music videos and story-spinning lyrics, Schneider introduces personas like Frankie Lou, Buck Vernon, and Lily, the object of Buck’s affection who we meet in “Fool for Love,” the first single off Strange Trails.
The album starts off with Love Like Ghosts, a tune that, later on, you’ll realize is the main chord progression for most of the songs, especially with Meet Me In The Woods and The Night We Met. In Love Like Ghosts we get an introduction to almost the whole story of the album, some of the characters, and some pretty iconic lyrics; “Yes I know that love is like ghosts, a few have seen it but everybody talks…”, “Spirits follow everywhere I go, they sing all day and they haunt me in the night.” Yes, you guessed it, its a love story.
We continue to follow the story with throughout the entire album. A story about a man who falls in love so desperetly and everything he does do accomplish his desire, with amazing point of views like Danielle, in Frozen Pines, one of my personal favorites, or The Phantom Riders, with songs like “The World Ender”, “Hurricane”, and “Until the Night Turns”, to mention some.
If you’d like to read a more in-depth lore explanation, there’s a really good Reddit post by MountainGhostsInTrees that I will link down below for thoose of you who’d like to keep reading about this, because as much as I can write, I don’t feel like I could ever do it the right justice.
I will tell you tho, you can listen to this album an infinite amount of times and you’ll never get enough. So I hope you like it as much as I do.

Logopolis
One thing I've really come to enjoy from watching Classic is the way its allowed me to recontextualize events in New. This serial singlehandedly made me more on board with both the Flux and the bigeneration and it honestly baffles me that RTD didnt put that connection into The Giggle, even in passing, to help pave the way for his idea
I know WHY he didnt, because he enjoys his happy headcanon that every Doctor got a happy ending. But since thats not in the show and thus not canon (yet) I'm choosing to believe that the bigeneration was a result of time almost eroding in the Flux, akin to the Watcher's presence due to entropy here
To be fair, I'm putting a lot of headcanon of my own here since the Watcher is just not explained. I dont even know if I'd have been able to draw that conclusion if I didnt have the bigeneration as a reference point. I do think this was the writers intentions with the Watcher, just poorly explained like a lot of the science of this serial was
In general, the writing was a little all over the place this serial. Tegan is simultaneously really well written, she has an immediate energy in every scene, while also feeling slapped together. Her total non-reaction to being swept off to a new planet beyond "I'm gonna be late for work" gave me whiplash but her reaction to her aunts death was great (tho that has more to do with Fielding's acting than the writing)
The Logopolis stuff was also poorly explained until we were given a crumb of "they keep the universe together" and the Doctor's decision to fix the chameleon circuit feels like it came out of nowhere
This was not perfect
However, I did like it a lot, mainly because of the various interactions with the Master. His teamup with the Doctor was great, with the Doctor's awareness this is how he dies palpable
And then the juxtaposition of them working together with Nyssa's realization her entire planet is destroyed, because of the Master (who is wearing her father's face!!!) Again, with the context of New Who, it really brings to question just how complicit the Doctor is in all the various war crimes the Master has committed
In a way, this all is a perfect farewell for the Fourth Doctor. His era had some of the strongest writing in the entire series (Ark, Genesis, Pyramids, City) while also some of the worst (Talons, Leisure Hive, Deadly Assassin.) Having a story with confusing lore but strong character work is very fitting
Baker really was great, but there was something about him that always prevented me from LOVING him the way I do Pertwee. Part of that is that I'm not a huge fan of Baker as a person, but I think the other part of that was the way the show moved away from the explicit political stories that I loved so much. I'm sure the worldbuilding stuff that the era was so focused on was fascinating for contemporary viewers, but as a newer fan I either already knew it or it'd been retconned and wasnt enjoyable
His energy was contagious though and I loved the way he brought a levity and joy to the show while also taking the serious scenes with complete seriousness. I remember reading that he agonized over making sure to do Genesis justice because it was such a strong script
His last season started off weak, but ended strong
1. The Keeper of Traken. Just a really, really strong serial on top of introducing Nyssa, who I love and would die for
2. Full Circle. Ever since his introduction where I compared Adric to Atreyu, I've loved the character so of course his first story is this high
3. State of Decay. As much as I love this serial for helping shift the way I view Classic as a whole, its actual plot is fairly standard which prevents it from being higher
4. Logopolis. All the character work is great, all the technobabble isnt
5. Warriors' Gate. I feel like Romana deserved better than the departure she for
6. Meglos. I just find it a little stale and boring, nothing bad but nothing good
7. The Leisure Hive. It was a fun concept but the absolutely horrific editing makes it unwatchable
The companions of this era are all amazing so it'll be hard ranking them but
1. Sarah Jane Smith. There was never going to be any other choice here ofc, she's the face of Classic Who companions for a reason. She steals every scene she's in I love her
2. K9. One of the rare instances where the silly mascot character is truly incredible. Every scene he was in was fantastic and I want one of my own
3. Romana II. Cute and charming snd immensely lovable. Every time she was on screen I wanted more of her
4. Romana I. I loved Mary Tamm's portrayal, she always gave the Doctor as much sass as he gave her and the way she always carried herself as aloof from it all was amazing. But the chemistry of Ward and Baker is unmatched
5. Leela. It pains me SO much putting her this low but she was always the type of character who I loved in spite of her writing rather than because of it. She never had any of the truly GREAT stories the others did
6. Harry. He's the only companion of this era I actively disliked I'm sorry

Watched MasakoX's recent video about Goten & Trunks. I find it comical that he claims Toyotaro (the guy who constantly mischaracterizes everyone) is developing the character & personalities of Goten & Trunks.
And he also claimed that Goten & Trunks from the Buu Saga swapped personalities in a way at the End of Z... No they did not. Trunks chilled out as he got older & Goten seemed to be more of himself without always following Trunks. But we didn't see much of them so there isnt much to go off of. MasakoX also said that Toyotaro is probably writing Goten & Trunks the way they are in the recent manga chapters in order to make Toroyama look somewhat competent... What?
Why do ppl call Toriyama incompetent when he was responsible for the last 2 DBS movies? Toriyama only begsn to forget a lot when he was burned out from DB and needed a long break. Broly & Super Hero were not made by an incompetent man. So why do ppl praise Toriyama at one moment then insult him the next? Why do they talk as if Toyotaro is some sort of genius and better writer than Toriyama when Toyo has revealed how little he understands the characters, lore, & series? If you think Toyotaro's writing is better than an "incompetent" Toriyama, then you don't knkw Dragon Ball. Or if you say so, you're just trying to appeal to DBS manga fans.
People like this & others are the ones who are influential in the DB community. Not saying I dislike MasakoX. Because I like his color theory videos & some others that he doesn't do anymore. Instead he mostly does what if stories that are inspired of DBZA more than DB. His perception of characters seems to be skewed from making what if stories where he uses DBZA personalities for the DB characters. So much so that its to the point that he views things that are out of character as in character.
I just dont get why most of the popular DB folks in the community are somewhat or very delusional. Like the ones who claim the humans are weak and every single Saiyan is stronger. Yeah because Bardock and the entire race of Saiyans were effortlessly wipes out by 1st form Freeza, someone Chaozu is on par with. Meaning, Chaozu one shots 99% of all Saiyans with ease. But unreasonable ppl wont accept that and they will push lies that impressionable fans take as truth.
Idk why I watch DB Tubers every now and again. I guess its to see if they progress in a positive way and if they grow. Most haven't. Like how ppl claim Piccolo is black for the dumbest reasons. Krillin is more black than Piccolo and he's Asian. (And I dont need a character to be black in order for me to like them. I'm black and I relate with Krillin more than any other DB character. If Krillin was black, I'd relate with him more tho.) This is also like how fans think Saiyans are white. They aren't. They are Asiatic aliens that turn into giant monkeys. Just because they are blonde does.not make them white. The blonde hair is inspired of how that was a delinquent look in Japan back in the day. Saiyans arent black either simply cause Freeza called them monkeys. They are literal monkeys and Freeza calling them.that is a reference to how Sun Wukong is often called "monkey." Ppl call us monkeys because they are stupid & racist. Freeza called Saiyans monkeys because they literally are and would transform into Oozaru. And Oozaru literally means "Great Monkey." You can relate to these character due to their personalities. Nobody can relate to Saiyans or Namekians based off of race. THEY ARE ALIENS! WE ARE HUMANS!
I'm done... enough ranting... See these characters for what they are. Not what you want them to be. If you do that then 9/10 times, you don't truly like the characters that you claim you like. If you have to drastically change their stories or whatever, you are in love with your ideal version of them & dont love who the character actually is.

I seriously love Erics world building but me personally I think it’s so low-fantasy. It’s a great start but we barely see a lot about the world even inside dahlia I’m just itching for more lore! I mean i ask myself every time what do you even do at DAMN? Do they do enchantments? Do they have spellbooks? Can they create magical objects? Can people who are not werewolves transform into animals? Is there magic that can teleport people or is that strictly for demons/daemons? What kind of races besides the ones mentioned are there? So on and so forth.
It may be just because I’m the kind of person who really enjoys in-depth lore videos because if Eric just did a video of him rambling for like 20-30min I wouldn’t even be making this. The concepts he has right now are awesome like dump, connections with other realities and magical colleges I just want MORE. Gimme stuff to write with I want to know about some historical events, overseas governmental systems, pre-college magical training, sports, JOBS AND CAREERS(what the hell is someone supposed to do after going to damn??? Just get a job in administration??? No??) I just want more stuff my dude I’m starving over hereeee
ANON SPEAKING MY LANGUAGE!!
I agree so much with this, especially with such a broad genre as fantasy. One answered question leads to a trail of mini-questions which don't seem to be answered as often as one would like.
It's also quite sad that when I'm craving for lore or story, I always have to go back to the Imperium, which is a different reality entirely??? Tell me more about the character's powers, backgrounds, hierarchies, flaws, restrictions, strengths, and history etc. Give me details. AND MORE ON JOB OPPORTUNITIES AFTER DAMN YES ANON LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK.
While I'm definitely aching to learn more about Erik's little universe, he is just one person and probably working to the best of his abilities. It's quite sad that lore-based videos don't get as many views as the other audios do, which can be discouraging in its way BUT THIS IS A CALLING TO YOU ERIK WE LOVE REDACTEDVERSE AND WE WANT TO KNOW MORE.
At this point mans should just write a book about it.
Keep it away from Netflix tho or istg-
🫂 Hug for Anon, thank you for sharing ♡

hello! its paper. been a while hasnt it? i keep meaning to send an ask just to say "hi! im still here!" but i keep forgetting. so i figured id send one now! i do have a sort of question tho. i havent been too aware of your recent interests but the newest one, team starkid i think it is, does seem cool. theyre like musicals right? so im asking if theres like a specific one i should start with first or if i can just go to whatever basically. bonus points for summaries of the plots :]
PAPER ANONNNN ITS BEEN SO LONG ITS NICE TO SEE U AGAIN!!!!!!! hope ur well!!! u caught me at the perfect time actually i am in the exact mood to activate Infodump Attack
SO !! team starkid !! they r a group who writes & performs original musicals. these range from parodies like Twisted (Aladdin, but from Jafar's POV) to the thing theyre most known for- the Hatchetfield universe
Hatchetfield is the name of a town on a fictional island in Lake Michigan in which this series/these musicals take place. Within the Hatchetfield universe there is TGWDLM, Black Friday, and Nightmare Time. Everything in the Hatchetfield universe is best described as horror comedy, and it does get quite dark at times.
TGWDLM (which stands for The Guy Who Didn't Like Musicals) is where I would recommend you start. It's the easiest for a new Starkid viewer to understand, is almost entirely self-contained (bonus lore from other content is FUN but not at all NEEDED or important to understanding anything). It tells the story of Paul, the titular Guy Who Doesn't Like Musicals, and what happens to him when a meteor crashes into Hatchetfield and causes everyone to start singing and dancing! I would honestly recommend it anyways just because it's a really fun watch regardless. Warnings: guns, character death, [fake] blood & guts, body horror, mind control. Also, a song near the beginning has very explicit (sexual) lyrics.
Black Friday is best viewed as a sequel to TGWDLM. It gets a little more into the lore and sets up more of the overarching world. I honestly like Black Friday better than TGWDLM, but it is also even darker & more lore-heavy. Also it can be confusing on your first watch. It follows various citizens trying to buy a new toy called a Wiggly for Christmas, and the subsequent events that causes. Warnings: death, [fake] blood (not a ton! Less than TGWDLM), what could easily be seen as mob mentalities/near mind control, guns, what could be seen as stalking/hunting people.
Nightmare Time is best seen as a series of podcasts/seperate "episodes." You can listen to just the audio if you want, you won't miss anything important (although the actors are AMAZING so I would definitely say watching it is worth it). There are two seasons, which have 3-4 episodes each. They elaborate a LOT on the lore/world of Hatchetfield. If you need individual tws, they should be in the video descs. I will warn you the Hatchetfield series is very dark. I love it and it is a LOT of fun though! Latte Hatte is the #4 cause of my homosexuality (/silly). also nb rep that i as a nb person very much enjoy!! also more of lauren lopez being iconic. also a KILLER theme song.
Also recommended outside of Hatchetfield are Trail to Oregon & Firebringer. I personally don't love the amount of toilet humor in Trail to Oregon, but it's still a fun musical and the acting is phenomenal as always. Firebringer has iconic songs, a HILARIOUS narrator character, leabians, and Lauren Lopez as the lead. there is literally nothing more you could ask for. it's perfect. Gods I love Lauren Lopez she's so iconic.

i get that people genderbend male character to be female in mxtx stories (esp if those ppl are wlw) because the majority of characters are male and it is focused on mlm content. so i support wlw simping over cool necromancer lesbians you go girlies, but in general i tend to stay away from genderbend stuff because sooooo much of it is made by cis ppl and it can be a bit transphobic? it also a lot of the times falls into the cishet gender stereotype shit of "women big boobie slim waist small big lips big eyes, men big buff strong macho 8 pack square" which is! oh no cringe!
yeah EXACTLY like my thoughts too. bc the vast majority of genderbending made by cis ppl really is just. like you said. biological gender stereotype shit. i feel like most trans people i see are made pretty uncomfortable by this, and i can totally see why, so i am too. but at the same time i DO understand wlw who want more content with girls/wlw characters esp when there are so few to begin with. so like im kinda willing to give wlw the benefit of the doubt in this case even though i dont rly like to interact with it myself. but also, my beloved sisters in christ... baihe exists
the only genderbending ill really interact with is works with sqx, he xuan*, and hua cheng like since theyre the ones that are shown to or mentioned to change gender in canon. (ling wen too, tho tbh i dont rly care about male!ling wen lmfao, just for the sole reason that, well. i am a lesbian. tho i do have to say the lore behind her male form is actually rather compelling and i think if mxtx were more skilled and open to writing analysis about gender, it could lead to a very thoughtful and nuanced discussion of how ling wen views herself, rather than just if she looks like a cis woman shes a woman if she looks like a cis man shes a man. because iirc she only shapeshifted to get the extra power she had in her male form? that doesnt mean that she is now a man, but in those scenes the book automatically refers to her as such. would love an extra about ling wen's self image and gender. but no, we had to get the statue sex and weird underage amnesia stuff 🙄)
BUT ANYWAY like idk if it really counts as genderbending in tgcf's case? but either way i know mxtx made that ~gods and ghosts can change gender at will~ thing just as a haha comedic relief thing like i think them having the power to do that is totally cool but i do not think it was done respectfully at all, especially with sqx, since mxtx kind of either intentionally or not sends the message (at least to me) that you can only be trans if you pass as cis. ive said it a million times before and ill say it again but the way sqx is never referred to as a woman (by the characters, the narrative, and even THEMSELF) after they lose the ability to LOOK like a cis woman is so so infuriating to me. like theyre not going to just STOP being genderfluid/trans just bc they cant change their appearance. and also not to mention throughout the book they were just kinda treated as being silly and immature for wanting to change their gender in the first place, so, another win for transphobia i guess. though i can appreciate having a canon trans/genderfluid character, they definitely could have been written better in that regard
*while i love fem!he xuan... it did leave a kinda dirty taste in my mouth when mxtx had to make sure we knew that he xuan only did it to appease sqx, and actually hated being a woman. and the way it was talked about too like 'oh he was forced to be in a womans body so OF COURSE he was super pissed the entire time' like i cant explain it but it was just kind of upsetting. kinda transphobic and misogynist. one might even say,..... transmisogynist 🤔
this answer kinda ended up going on a tangent but yea lol thanks for the ask ^^

OKAY! So welcome to my Season 2 of Fate: The Winx Saga series on Netflix! Recap!
Disclaimer: I do not associate Fate: TWS with Winx Club (animated) in any way besides relation by names/ locations/ lore and things like that.
My view on the Fate series is that someone took the concept of Winx and made their version of it mixed with a CW show. That does not mean that I do not make comparisons to the animated Winx Club however. Take it as you will!
Spoilers will be below! Talking positives, negatives, questions and loose ends about every character and the stories!
Bonus: some of my fav quotes that I can remember from the show!
P.S.: It is long and I am sorry, if you do read any of it and think I simply missed a point in the story that led to my confusion please do message me, I would love to talk about it!
LETS GO!
The Positives!
Overall, I don’t know if it’s just me or other people that have been/ live in Ireland appreciate and notice this but I love how the humour and the vibe at times felt *INCREDIBLY* Irish???
And I mean that in the best way possible!!
Like i am convinced that for one of the ep they literally just told the cast to go have fun in a pub and filmed it. It was quite enjoyable to watch them just have fun??? Even if it was cut short lol.
The accents by the actor Éanna Hardwicke (plays Sebastian Valtor) I just live for that man’s accent, it is brilliant. Just brilliant. So is Robert James-Collier (Saul Silva). This might be just a personal obsession tho it just honestly made things so much more fun for me.
I understand that it’s not the most liked thing that there is a significantly increased level of swearing in the series, most likely as they are trying to make it appear as a more mature show (ie my CW joke) + to be honest in the final ep with the monster shown at moments it gave me Slenderman x AHS House latex monster vibes for the making of a horror show and i am not entirely against but would appreciate a warning! It kind of took me by surprise! I assume and have seen others make the same speculations that, that might be lord Darkar in the making? Possibly?
I am loving the fact that they introduced a type of witches??? Like FINALLY! THANK YOU! And the full reveal of the Dragon Flame. But I am so excited to actually see them explore more witch stuff??? Like pLEASE??? And Bea. (Beatrix) aaaah I love Bea and they better bring her back cause like they already revealed she had 2 sisters??? (hello Isabella and Darcy??) Like i want to see it.
Then there is the fact that the general writing of the season felt better??? Like season 1 was all over the place, it was missing key lore information and it highly depended on very lame fat jokes and degrading comedy that was.. it was just not funny? But this time around it properly felt like they listened to the fans that were actually interested in seeing this show try and be something good? They made proper lore references to the Winx lore. They made writing that made sense 70% of the time. They fixed the humour and entirely the continuity of the plot? It made some plot twists that were not always expected but very welcome and well executed may I add. For example the Sebastian reveal, the Grey reveal, how they handled Musa’s hate for her magic, how they handled the Bea x Riven x Dane trouple/ trouple fallout or Terra’s coming out. I do feel like they were handled well.
And lastly a small thing: I loved the fact that the characters have phones… AND THEY ACTUALLY REMEMBERED TO USE THEM FOR PLOT SPECIFIC REASONS?! Like I am sorry I understand that may seem minor or stupid but in modern shows the characters forget phones exists so often it is absolutely frustrating. Having them actually use their phones for an actively plot related reason that helps them felt like a breath of fresh air.
Things I disliked:
Okay so the clothes. Just why? Just no. The only one with any fashion sense is Bea and I will stand on that. Some of the gala dresses were okay but all the clothes look like trash??? Like what was Musa even wearing all of the time?? and Stella always wearing crocks?? And like for the trial they put 16/17 year old characters in suits that made them look 40??? Who decided these outfits just why??? Please, i beg of you if a S3 happens, fix the damn wardrobe. Jeesus!!!
I do not care if it’s just me but if I see one more show portraying characters on their beds WITH SHOES ON, I WILL SCREAM (spoiler: i do in fact scream.)
I hated that queen Luna made the whole incident where Bloom killed Rosalind a witches vs fairies. I am not surprised by it! but I still hate it. And what I hate about it even more, is that when Farah was temporarily back, they just released Bloom and everyone was still treating her as an escaped convict and blaming the witches??? Even tho EVERYONE AT THE SCHOOL KNEW THAT IT WAS BLOOM THAT KILLED ROSALIND?? And no witch was involved? LIKE?? WHAT??? It was just made as a giant fairies hate witches thing when it really didn’t need to be? Like way to make conflict without needing to.
Let’s talk CGI. The concept behind the wings was cool and all, I enjoyed the fact that all of their wings had different designs however, I am sorry but the CGI FOR THE WINGS was absolute barf. Like the wings just being on them is not the worst??? Like it’s pretty nice actually but the transformations for the wings??? That looked like such freaking trash like I am so sorry to the artists that worked on those transformations but just… just no…
Especially cause the CGI for the magic up to that point actually looked pretty decent? With them using spells and the fire and the convergence experiment with the crystal and all the scrapers, it was so well done It made me look forward to the transformations when they were hinting at them. But then actually seeing the transformation? Just no, I’m sorry just no.
Also a few of the plot points felt like they never got resolved but just pushed away and forgotten simply because bigger plot points happened? Like from last season Rosalind felt like such a big character and she kept being treated as such? Especially because of all the experiments and the actual mind erasing spells?? Like Riven couldn’t remember anything from her office at all? And then Saul suddenly being on her side when they were all against her? Like it felt like they diverged the attention from her and forgot that she wasn’t to be trusted? Because bigger issues? And then when they got reminded that “hey by the way she is evil? did you forget?” Bloom ends up frying her and.. we just never learn what the her whole point was? Like with the dragon flame? Did she just want a war? was it something else? Guess we won’t know!
Or Andreas, who was Sky’s father, was there for a couple of episodes and played a big role before he was just used as a puppet and then killed off? Like Sky didn’t develop much connection with him besides a little bit of subtle acceptance and then he’s the one that is left to kill him and choose who to save. It felt kind of rushed for me.
Characters!
Flora!
I love the fact that they introduced a Flora character and I love the fact that her personality is so different than the (animated Flora as Terra kinda has that) but also the rest of the group? She is a very to the point person and I definitely see that as beneficial at times. And also! that she is not whitewashed even though again, i do not compare it to the animated series but sometimes it just pops to mind. She does feel a tad reckless at times in a sense that she does not fully think things through as she is trying to just achieve a goal even if it may end up backfiring or hurting her. Unfortunately she did get a little sidelined at times but here’s hoping we get to see more of her!!
Terra!
I am actually so happy that they gave us more backstory on her character??? Why she was so upset and angry with Riven. Why she feels odd at times around people. AND THE REVEAL! I am so happy for her :333 That was lovely I won’t lie. I do love that. It was great. I honestly think it was also handled well? Because it was all focused on her and just letting her friends know? And then move on as if everything is normal. BECAUSE IT IS!? I do feel like Terra did grow a bit in the season and it was lovely to see. The confrontations she had with Flora that just pushed her further into just growth. It wasn’t perfect in any way but i still really loved it.
Bloom!
Bloom is.. okay? but at times I feel like she gets the “stupid for no apparent reason let’s just switch the story to make it interesting because im the protagonist” vibes. Again not to compare but for those that know, kinda like OG Bloom from Season…. 6 onwards? or 5? depends on your view really. Where Bloom’s character was just switching her mind on decisions based on purely the fact that she’s seen as the main character and conflict is needed? No other reason. Her relationship with Sky felt a little weird… at moments…? I do think that they bring the best out from each other in the sense that they treat each other with respect and talk about things? And I’m sorry but I LOVED The Taylor Swift Wildest Dreams horse ride.
Love the back and forth with the antagonists (they kept changing! haha) and with Valtor Sebastian, that definitely was like a very examining the situation type of mentality and while the final decisions sometimes were based on something stupid the logic wasn’t horribly portrayed. I do wonder if the person she found in the Dark realm will end up being Daphne (assuming they’ll use another OG Winx character) or her mother? Hope to see!!
Stella!
SO emm.. I do not condone violent physically painful “control your child” literal chips being actively implanted into you to control you because that was fucked up. Just saying. Her relationship with Belatrix was some of the most wholesome ever like.. the vibe? 10/10. Just yes. I was however incredibly pissed for the longest time that she would not tell the others about the chip. I understand she didn’t want the pity but like you can talk through that and move on, not telling them just makes you seem like more of a bitch in times when they need you and you blow them off for no good reason (because they don’t know). Like seriously by the end she was a tad more open with them and i sure as hell hope the character development sticks.
Aisha!
Aisha of course shown as the semi leader due to her calculated and focused calm nature. She was given a love interest in the season and it was so cute to watch actually? But it was heartbreaking to see the fall through :/ Maybe they will be better later tho?? MAYBE??? i can hope okay???? cause i actually really enjoyed Grey’s character? Even the BW (blood witch) reveal?? Like i kinda loved that! I love even more the fact that he chose Aisha in the end because he understood the weight of things. That he cared more about Aisha than his own problems and Sebastian’s goals. Definitely portraying the change in the times (in regards to the political and fairies vs witches thing) in a way. But I am so happy that we got more lore on Aisha’s background and her family and everything. It was little but it was still great to see!
Musa!
Musa left for semi last because i have the most to talk about okay! Firstly I was so pissed at her the first few eps??? Like YOU CANT JUST TAKE PEOPLES ANGER AWAY WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT!! Like I understand that she had the best intentions, I also understand that she learned the lesson later on but I was so mad. Like they need to know these things, you can’t just do it!! But she learned her lesson.
rip Musa x Sam. (not the biggest fan of it like it was cute but meh) But the fact that they literally had her CHOOSE to give up her powers to the crawlers??? That looked so heartbreaking but like I also get it? Like she has been saying how painful her powers are to her so when we learned that she chose to give them up it made sense? Even though it looked so sad. But heeeey! Riven!!! RivenxMusa has started off :33
I 100% agree with him snapping at her for wanting to become a specialist like, they train their whole lives and are specially chosen to be specialists you can’t JUST START!!! Like it is good that she will continue to train but I understood his point of view. You could def see him care for her and not wanting to see her get hurt, and saying that literally out of love. It was amazing and I loved it. And them just sitting on the track field after Terra accidentally grounded her there xD That was the absolute best scene ever?? And I am quite happy to see that in the end he literally brought her the magic restraint bracelets? Like how did they never think of that before lol She is definitely doing her best tho. I think there was actual character development there which again, hopefully it sticks xD
Riven!
While talking about Musa, onto Riven as well! He changed so much from S1 and more so from ep1 of S2?? Like he was happy in the trouple with Dane and Bea but it did take Bea betraying him to see how toxic that relationship was not just for him but how much more toxic it was making him? He was much more nicer to Terra and to all the girls and I won’t lie I kind of enjoyed the friendship he had with Flora? It was fun to watch! And that he is still trying to be friends with Dane like I get that Dane will still be upset because Riven doesn’t love him but he is trying. A for effort! Hope to see more content with Musa!!
Sky!
Sky is another story that.. I’m sorry he is so bland????? Like on his own he is either Bloom or daddy issues. Like hate Saul, want to make Andreas happy, console Saul dad, get close with Andreas, kill Andreas, be mad at Saul like the daddy issues on this one are almost as big as Serena Van der Woodsen’s from Gossip Girl (i don’t mean this as an insult to SVW I love GG just reference). Now I’m not saying they’re not important, I just feel like they could’ve been handled better???? And it was either that or Bloom. That was his character. The entire season. Like… why. The haircut was an improvement tho so I will take that.
Beatrix! <3
Then there is Beatrix! My love, my absolute perfection. I understand that she is technically seen as a wishy washy villain cause sometimes she helps the protagonists and sometimes helps the antagonists but the truth is, that as she said, she always does what she has to, to survive. And who she helps is entirely based on what she needs at the time. So it makes perfect sense for her to be like that. Truth is she was never playing good or bad side, she was playing her own side. And she never hid that. She was if nothing else 100% open about the fact that she does what she needs to just survive. Her goal and focus never changed. I love the fact that she stands her ground and her character is just great I love her. I do wonder if they will change her character if they bring her back because i really hope not! I also absolutely love her friendship with Stella?? Like goals pls. And the fact that they revealed she had sisters?! Hello Isabella and Darcy!
Antagonists!
Now let’s cover the ever changing antagonist! Firstly -> Rosalind: the antagonist not really antagonist but truly is antagonist character xD
Confusing I know! For the first 1-2episodes or till the gala basically there was no hints at any point that she was not the one behind every attack and everything bad happening and then suddenly they made her the most trustworthy character by the full cast of protagonists. It was a flip for sure but an interesting one none the less that I definitely did not see coming. I do wish we got to find out what her end goal was going to be however, once she had Bloom or the dragon flame on her side. Like was it going to be: eliminate all blood witches? Was it have power and control over everyone? We shall never know now!
Then there is Sebastian and the Blood witches. As already said, I love this man and he was amazing and any single time he was on screen it just brought me joy to listen and watch. And some of his lines were just pure perfection ??? Like I’m sorry but find some of my favs in my fav quotes listed bellow! Otherwise, I did not see the “him being the villain” at the start being a thing, the twist definitely caught me off guard. But I absolutely think that he executed it greatly. The role, the villain portrayal he definitely did amazingly. I do however feel like he was cheated on an early death as he did have grand plans! But it was the end of the road and unfortunately his story is now done (i do however wonder if they will bring him back in any way). I truly enjoyed how manipulative he was yet fully like “oops i guess you know now, oh well” kind of way? And despite the fact that he got found he still sat down and chatted with Bloom? And actually gave her so much information, whether she realises/ realised it or not. I shall miss him
Recap:
Firstly, darn this show and making me love its antagonists so much! As Beatrix and Sebastian were my favourite 2 characters from S2. I’d say Riven was a close 3rd.
There obviously are issues with the show, I will never deny that but it is good to see that they actually listened to the feedback of the fans? and the people that want to see the show succeed or at the very least be able to enjoy the show more. I’d personally say, because it gives me CW vibes, I do enjoy it more than I do Riverdale. Personally of course.
I do get annoyed at points about some small things like dropping a plot line or Bloom randomly changing her mind without enough context to make sense or who knows what else.
I def like the more “irish-ised” vibe to all of it and I do not know if that’s just because it was filmed in Ireland or if it had Irish influences by cast members/ writer but I hope they keep at it!!
Overall I def enjoyed S2 more than S1, I. . did not realise I binged all of it in one sitting so it was definitely unexpected but i did not regret it! I had a fun day :33
And I hope you enjoyed my recap! If you read all the way to hear I thank you and I salute you! And I also greatly appreciate you! If you believe that i got anything wrong or if you think that I missed something important please please please message and let me know, I would absolutely love to talk about it!!!
My fav quotes that I can remember:
“at first glance romeo and juliet is a great story. Tragic love at its finest. Then you realise, Juliet’s 13, Romeo’s a dick and the whole mess could’ve been avoided with just a little more communication” -Sebastian
“But you’re also a fucking teenager” -Sebastian
“Life’s fucked up and guess what? It doesn’t give a shit about your plans” - Saul

i LOVE seeing everyone's different takes on a "Golden Route" in the 3 Houses fandom because like. there are so many flavors. and now with 3 Hopes giving us additional lore, i genuinely love seeing ppl incorporate that lore into their writing
your pre-timeskip fix-it was a large part of what got me into your blog! how do you think you would handle some of the 3 Hopes stuff in it, if you're interested in doing that? i totally get wanting to stick to just 3 Houses tho!
I know right??? One of the best things about fandom in my view is that everyone is going to do things differently. Even if they're starting from the same base concept, the end results are going to be entirely different when two different fans develop it, because they each have their own takes on the characters, their own ideas for the world, and their own narrative beats to incorporate. It's beautiful and an absolute joy to see.
But I'm actually not sure yet how Three Hopes will impact Pre-Timeskip! From what I understand after playing the Demo, the Academy phase is more or less aborted early in Three Hopes, so the lore that gets incorporated would probably be all character-focused from Support conversations rather than pulling from narrative beats -- and unfortunately for me, I don't have the game yet, so my Support knowledge is pretty thin. I can't say one way or another yet whether Three Hopes will influence Pre-Timeskip -- but I'm certainly not ruling it out!

aww shucks :33 thank you dear author !! Maybe I am a writer after all, just maybe not a writer in my own standards hehehe
It's really interesting to see what you said as both a reader and a writer, it seems to me as a reader you value more characterization and how other writers would write to characters in their own perspectives based on the lore + the personalities of the character in game (I myself really like it when the writer has a firm grasp on the characterization of the character, and it's even better if they add something unconventional to them but still feels familiar and something the character would 100% do canonically)
BTW, I saw the tags and since you've asked so nicely ~
My favorite characters pretty much consist of the shorty squad; Venti, Scaramouche, and Aether
Venti is actually the reason why I got into the fandom as his character design really intrigued me (When i first saw him online I fr thought he was a girl and was like- Xiao's twin because of their color palettes being so similar awkward considering i later on start to ship xiaoven) and once I actually started doing research on his lore, I became even more interested ! He is now my favorite character lore wise :DD
Scaramouche, I'm not gonna lie the only reason I love Scara is because his design is really immaculate in my eyes (sadge that he's getting redesigned D'':) And just like Venti—I looked into his lore and became interested ! (then I heard his in game voices, for japanese and english, and boi I was whipped)
Aether is one of my favs because I find him really interesting, I really like reading other peoples headcanons for him, whether it be him using sign language to communicate because in game he doesn't talk as much, or when it's him being the more emotional twin of the two, I just love it all :D Lore wise, the fact that Aether may or may not be a deity, as well as Lumine, is really interesting— honestly tho, the entire lore surrounding the twins is really interesting, their reasonings for helping the abyss when they're the abyss twin, the way they say that the other twin should see the whole Teyvat before they can reunite once again- there's so much mystery and ANGST I love it :''D
I have a lot of other fav characters that I have just cuz I really resonate with them but these three shorties are the ones I usually gravitate to :P
Wow that was a long ramble, but since we're already here- how bout you my dear author? Any favorite characters based on lore, appearance, or personality? - Sincerely, angsty anon 👹✨
hehe, i'm proud of you, anon! i hope there will come a day where you'd deem yourself fit to be considered a writer in your standards,
mhm, each writer views characters through their own lens and that is something i find quite beautiful in a way <3 i'm not a picky reader because i've always loved all writers' interpretations even if they differ from mine — but i am picky as a writer because my works are how i share my interpretations and i really want to communicate them as best as i can ;( but i try not to push myself too hard, dw!
( spoilers about ei's second story quest and the backstory for kaeya and childe !! )
"add something unconventional to them but still feels familiar and something the character would 100% do canonically" THIS !! the exact ideology i strive for as a genshin writer 🙏 i love to write while considering how a chara's backgrounds/environments and habits could've possibly affected their reactions to certain things. it may seem like overly extensive efforts, but it's always been worth it to me! ;D (which is why i am selective when it comes to writing for unreleased characters, unless i've gathered enough info and observed them for a while like scaramouche and dainsleif.)
i love the way venti and scara attracted you with their designs first, then you searched up their lore and suddenly, it's too late to turn back fjwkkdksek and aether !! i really wish hoyoverse would give us more lore about the twins and canon traits that differentiate them instead of leaving them to seem like genderswapped versions of each other :( tho i remember during the 'we will be reunited' quest when they said each other's names regardless of the name we input as the player !!
AGREED. the fog surrounding khaenri'ah and the cataclysm is so full of mystery??? and the twin that ruled the abyss order was there to witness it while the other was asleep — but what exactly did they witness? once when going home was their only desire, what kind of horror could've happened that made them change their mind? THE LORE AND THE ANGST.
dw about rambling! i love them and i happen to be a chronic rambler myself too, hehe 🤝 oooo, my favorite characters lore-wise are kaeya, ei and childe! >:)
it's no secret that kaeya has always been a gold mine of mysteries. not just his origins stemming from the destroyed civilization of khaenri'ah and the way he was supposed to be a spy, but the fact that hoyoverse gave him a strained brotherhood with diluc added even more to his already jam-packed lore. and despite the laid-back way he carries himself, i noticed how he struggles with loneliness and reading his letters to diluc from the hidden strife event made me adore his character even more. i don't talk about my interest in kaeya often, but he is definitely my #1 favorite character lore-wise! sometimes, i wonder if he was a limited character and not a starter one, would people have viewed him differently?
ei's second story quest left a long-lasting impression on me even till this day and the loss she experienced after what happened to makoto and her friends :( i still think her first story quest should've been the second instead because it does shed some light on ei's personality (e.g. her unfamiliarity with social interactions since makoto has always been the one to handle that + the way she's behind on trends and even creations like a kamera because she's locked herself in the euthymia for so long), but it would've had a bigger impact and more depth as the epilogue instead of the introductory quest, imo!
on the other hand, childe is interesting to me because of the way he differs from his fellow harbingers, how he places such a strong belief in the tsaritsa, and how he is an oddball yet unapologetically himself. and as much as a morally grey of a character he is, ajax's love for his family makes him more realistic and that he retains a part of his old self even after falling into the abyss. one of the reasons i'm looking forward to snezhnaya is actually to see more of this stupid dumbo. Relistening to razia's shadow bc I belatedly realized they posted their new version of it and not that they changed any of the lyrics or plot but hm! Just as confused as I've ever been and honestly fr guys am I missing something. I do not understand the plot lol my feelings for it are very "makes no sense. compels me tho" i mean
all of this critism coming from someone who has no knowledge of any possible lore that may or may not exist abt this and has never interacted w anyone about it but just listens to the album sometimes and has seen the youtube puppet play <3
OK so the whole theme being "the unrelenting constancy of love and hope can rescue and restore you from any scope" aw <3 except it literally never does lol like Prophecy Boy dies in both acts.
It's truly the unfeminist of albums I mean. My 2017 memories of making an entire AU where I change the lyrics to all the songs with our #girls bc they suck TBH. honestly I just need to break down my gripes song by song okay so
>missing piece
OK!! so they were both very gifted but it's only arima and his man angst that goes off committing arson??
>life is looking up
it's literally Oh The Scientist being cringe and creepy like give ur son boy some encouragement damn :/ guy who caused it: I'm staying out of it. also the "but the sculpture of the earth was looked upon by jealous eyes" okay so there's always trouble in paradise got it, but the whole "dark and the light" theme is so confusing
>spider and the lamps
i hate the "crawl inside her" line soooooo much i think of it in my head as "crawling insider" like...he's a spy a creep a guy offering a new (worse) perspective on a guy who's at a mental low under the guise of helping him when he's really manipulating him. etc.
>toba the tura
literally in 2018 i had a whole animatic planned where the reason nidria leaves is bc she's literally a leader to her people and it's her making the tough choice to choose the responsibility she has to them who are now, idk refugees or whatever? etc etc. so yeah the irony of ari being the guy who's like "when i die you will realize" only for his terrible actions to be what forces nidria, who never even expressed any real desire or felt any necessity to Show Off Her Skillz, to take this active leadership authority figure role. anyway what was i talking about.
oh yeah uh, ok so i love toba bestie <3 love that they're a #girl in the new version like yes feminism. we love a genderfluid goat and i loved the singer but the "my words will tear through the air" line which is SO powerful in the original was kinda mediocre ngl. so yeah disappointed there but otherwise <3
i had a whole character concept for them in the far past but i've forgotten it honestly and relistening and watching wow they're kind of a cop huh? this is me going with my 2017 AU where the dark v/s light thing is a veiled xenophobia metaphor taking inspiration from the mechanisms high noon over camelot album. but yeah in this view the "every dark corner will soon see the light" is very civil servant performing their duty that, oops, kind of involves a punitive judgemental form of justice that negatively disenfranchises some more than others.
but again, the dark v/s light thing is so unclear like rly acting as if it's unpopulated when he's ari is banished or whatev ("desolate throne" but people do live there?? or once the light-people leave the land gets re-populated by the dark-people who were possibly implicitly expelled from there? going w the fantasy racism theme + the weird unexplained sickness thing i think the disparity between them is at least partially due to physiological differences in a nocturnal vs diurnal creatures kinda way. vampires who can't stand light vs guys who would wither away without it. etc etc.
But also again fuck Oh The Scientist the entire "you've broken the trust of your father's love" when was that love expressed?? and hello NIDRIA??? who has like a whole song about expressing her love!!! not even a "the truth of those you love" more encompassing kind of lyric just the very narrow vision of it is so :(
>the oracle
lots of nitpicks bc i'm a hater on this one <3 but another contender for worst line in the musical "in her lock he will turn the key" makes me GAG. not even like a "together they will turn the key" in a "these TWO guys will fulfill the prophecy bc it's a TOGETHER issue bc we all saw what happened last time when prophecy was left up to Just Some Guy, with a girl also there"
ALSO the "Their true love will be strong enough, To erase the wrong we've done" line i'm so bleh over? Like it's not abour ERASING the wrong it's about being able to look it in the eye and move past it! facing it and confronting it in order to work together to build something that learns from the mistakes of the past that is more equitable and lasting. so yeah idk just simple lyrical changes like "to move past"
Also the "will be strong enough" is so hamfisted....add some ambiguity or a touch of hopefulness or desperation bc we already saw prophecy isn't all it's caked up to be! "with their love, may it be strong enough" or smth. idk man!! idk!!
>the exit
the new ver literally has pallis like. push him to the ground at the beginning? BOO!! he's shown to be not understanding but still caring through his coldness, and also it's unclear what the prophecy is but in the beginning and the end "you really are the chosen one the calculated sacrifice" LIKE?? no wonder he was against it!! either knowing ur brother will die and/or being the killer??? yeah i think i'd be unhappy too abt my younger brother chasing a suicide mission.
and as for adakias and how literally his whole thing being feeling trapped, not fitting in, forced to fill a role he doesn't feel suited for, yearning for understanding and newness, etc.
and anura ALSO feeling those things!! self-recognition thru the other etc, and then for the next song to like immediately pivot to "and now they are going to settle down and have kids :)" it's SOOO infuriating. "to float away, and settle down" SETTLE DOWN????? AFTER ALL THAT YEARNING FOR A HERO'S JOURNEY???? WHAT DO YOU MEAN
>it's true love
literally changing all of anura's lines bc again misogyny the musical.
"I never would guess your touch could, Fill me with such thoughts to marry you, have your babies, too" BLECKKKK
TO ME changes to: "...guessed someone could Fill me with such a tender feeling, how, Just to be with you, Is it too good to be true?"
Also the "Adakias, can't you see that I knew at first kiss?" >> "can't you see that without you I'd have never escaped" this line is partially bc i couldn't hear what she was saying lol but it sounded vaguely like this to me and fit with the themes of like. desperation, loneliness, finally finding someone who understands you and the desire to cling to that person, the whirlwind that mixture of things can spur you into making looking before you leap decision making, etc
also more lyric changes but i would simply change "i can't let her learn about my past" to "if i let her learn about my past" with a yes maybe? :) hopefulness to it, that then pivots to the "if she found out where i came from" of the original. the back and forth!! the desire to entrust your full self to the person you theoretically has this magic connection of love and understanding with that you don't want to lie to!! but that is shadowed by the fears of being forced back to a life you don't want. instead of just "oh yeah and i will simply keep this a secret, forever, regardless of how much this endangers the people around me :) what could go wrong"
>meet the king
literally the narration at the end w/ the "the king as his greed" HIS GREED??? bro he literally knew he was hiding something and ofc he was concerned for his daughter making a crazy rash decision based on someone who very well COULD just be after her for status!!! and who did end up getting her sick and almost killed!!!!!
songs written by someone who doesn't get the plot of romeo and juliet. and also addy constantly ending his lines to the king with "You Fool" BRO that is not how u convince ur date's dad to like you!!!!! and way to give away ur not just some commoner who tf talks to royalty like this you loudmouth. KIDS
but also on the other hand what even is the sickness plotline....def puts a weird bit into my xenophobia metaphor plotline but as a plotline itself even without that it's so nonsense!!! means nothing to me!!!!
>holy the sea
i think this song fucks love the boat chorus :) i do think the "sits atop ur family tree" thing is kinda boring like booooo no fancy chosen one bloodlines, i say in a work where the only characters are all monarchists or smth, the reincarnation thing is on thin ice but i'll allow it bc making puppets is hard and i support reusing character designs in a "same guy but slightly different and to the left bc see they are Parallels" i fall for it every time.
>doctor doctor
lol literally i cant listen to this song it's so. like the music is fun but the entire plot and lyrics are soooo
i mean addy was rly gonna just sell anura to the creepy doctor without her consent bc, what? "Trust me, I know how this must go!"??? BRO as if you've trust her with anything!! and if it's not your fault in the first place!!!!
>the end and the beginning
i was always very confused where tf the doctor went in this song until i saw the visual of the door just falling on him. everybody say thank you pallis
the way it doesn't make sense tho lmao <3 "she would never RLY like u bc she's a spoiled princess who needs a prince" BRO?? damn that's crazy where the hell would we find one of those? and if not every character in this song is royalty???
"these two have been on quite an odyssey" :( i would also like to witness the odyssey. also belated question why in the new version are so many of the characters kind of gay (the spider, the king, pallis and his puppet hip thrusts)
and the way the entire song is abt her and pallis forcing her to justify herself to him but she like. barely has a line in it!! also the amount of lyrics i simply have never known bc im looking it up now on genius lyrics and damn where tf was i supposed to get maharaja and maliloquently from
more lyrics i dislike and change in my head: "please listen, I really can explain...Now you know the truth, but that knowledge shouldn't change the nature of our love" > "I really can't explain...Now you know the truth, and though that knowledge may change the nature of our love" the meaning is found in the acknowledgement that ur actions have consequences!! that you can't go back from but you can face up and be willing to accept that they will affect you moving forward!! and ofc the nature of it will change bc it NEEDS to change bc as proven by the lies and harm that's been done, it should change and that change can be something for the better.
the way she has NO like individual lines after the truth reveal tho. feminism loses :(
also the end like "we regained our science" HOW??? WHEN?? sorry i wasnt there for that lol. narrator living in a different sphere of existence. "cause an idea is only relevant if it's being thought upon" sir i have not gotten what the idea is.
anyway thoughts on just the musical as a visual:
i prefer the original spider puppet i just think the black light was better!!
they rly made him green huh....weird.
the weird blurs on the camera sometimes...like when pallis goes in for the stab and it has this weird overlapped motion blur what even IS that.....
i do like pallis and addy's little outfits :) brother who cant dress themselves
them holding hands in the meet the king song is cute. like children at mcdonald's "he asked for no pickles" kind of look.
the very end narration being all "never surrender :)" (image of guy bleeding out on the floor) is. quite the choice

✏️👽🌈 📬 and 🥚
✏️—The first fan fiction you ever wrote? (doesn’t have to be a posted fic)
Honestly this one’s hard to pin down. There’s stuff that counts as fanfic from when I was in like preschool kindergarten era with like Winnie the Pooh and superhero stories, but when it comes to like… actually consciously writing fanfic that I knew was fic, it was probably two instances. One was a Danganronpa semi self insert that I wrote in my notes app n have now deleted (which I wish I didn’t bc it was terrible n I wanna look back on it now), and a similar ish Tiger n Bunny one w a hero insert (tho that one didn’t get as far). Both were very bad but good for me for starting somewhere, you’ve grown baby me!!
👽—Strangest fic you’ve ever written?
Idk if it counts as fic bc it was technically original but I typed something out to a friend over Instagram when red velvets Zimzalabim came out n Area 51 memes were happening, n it was ab a guard on duty witnessing a huge crowd naruto running and singing that as they approached the base. If that’s counted as more original, thennn hmmmm Well my first published work is a collection of (once again) danganronpa poems so probably that. (Also sry DR fans if this is in ur tag I can’t control tumblr)
🌈—Your favorite tropes to write about?
I love angst and hurt/comfort, and characters finding the small details to love ab each other. Tropes I haven’t written often that I want to do more are time travel/loops, mistaken identity, fake dating or being a couple for cover, and monsters (in general).
📬—The best comment you’ve ever received?
This is so hard bc I’ve gotten some rlly sweet ones over the years, but any that like… have the person talking ab how a fic hit for them rlly hard personally and that they reread it, or just rlly going in depth on details they noticed and loved. I got a really cool person who went chapter by chapter on my commander fic and left lovely comments on each one, n I got a REALLLYYYY nice one on my recent wwbn fic I still have to respond to that pointed out a ton of things I rlly wanted ppl to notice n just aghHh!! I love comments sm, they mean a lot to me n I couldn’t choose a fav bc ppl r so often so sweet. Those instances come to mind tho :-)
🥚—Any Easter eggs you put on a fic that you hoped people would notice?
Yeah! N usually in more snapshotty ones. In somewhere over the sun there’s a moment mentioned where Crawley pats Steven’s shoulder n leaves a smear of paint, which was meant to represent the passing of love and comradery onto him with the color themes I’d been keeping up throughout the story, and also to show the way Jake was separate from that, not carrying the physical mark himself.
In 10k Lightyears the entire plot of the 5th chapter was meant to b a ref to the multiverse colliding/collapsing in other MCU movies like no way home and multiverse of madness, though it wasn’t on a solid timeline as that verse was blended with comic lore as well, it was a cool way to incorporate a big in world event from a point of view of a character who doesn’t understand what’s happening but is still experiencing it.
And in my recent fic Third Time, in the scene where Jack takes a cab ride with Jake, I was trying to leave not just Jake as an Easter egg (even tho he’s tagged), but Khonshu as well, implying that being close to a moon god was the reason Jack turned prematurely, the energy messing with his brain and physiology.
Easter eggs or lil details like that r always so fun to include even if ppl don’t notice n I love talking ab my thoughts behind them aFGhhhHg!!!
Send me an emoji for a fic/writing ask!

rewatching the stream where fundy n phil meet michael and i remembered how pissed it makes me lmaoo upset ramblings under da cut bc it got long kjfskjsj
the beginning where phil n ranboo drown him is ehh but i let it slide bc it pales in comparison to the tower fjssklskl they rlly made fundy jump from a tall ass tower over and over just to get back his stuff (which!! he didnt even rlly want most of it back tbh!!!!! just the shclatt sword :[ ) and killed him repeatedly. i get that they dont like him (well tbh its mostly phil although tubbo n ranboo certainly dont object) but hes very non confrontational and docile during this visit even as hes getting drowned and just jkjldlskldkssld despite all that he still wants to go along with them to see michael and thats a whole other disaster.
i think fundy is one of the few ppl whos given legitimate criticism of the beeduos treatment of michael and is in a place to give that criticism?? like the direct parallels between fundy n michael are Right There and it sucks. it sucks so much. his whole point is just straight up ignored too in favor of the argument ‘michael is a mob’ bc that point is just bad. michael cannot be treated as both a mob and a child bc those hold very different statuses in the dream smp. if beeduo wanted to canonize him being straight up sentient or a hybrid then thatd be different but like. they have to choose one or the other, they cant just switch to whatever benefits them the most in that moment. michael, a mob, dying would be awful because beeduo is attached to him as a particularly special pet. michael, a CHILD, dying would be downright horrific because it would be beeduo losing their very young son. if hes killed then its the same argument. a pet killer and a child killer are drastically different things.
if michaels a mob then of course fundys idea of he might want a lil freedom is a bit silly. if michaels a child tho then fundy is completely right in that its wrong of them to keep him locked up. ive seen ppl miss fundys point entirely too and point out that clearly the beeduo love michael bc theyre giving him a huge ass manison. the problem isnt that his bedroom is small (well it is but less severe) but that hes not allowed outside or to see anyone other than beeduo and rare visitors. beeduo can give him the biggest mansion they can buy but it doesnt change anything. wilbur gave fundy an entire COUNTRY and it still wasnt enough to salvage their relationship.
speaking of wilbur, ranboos snarky comment abt how fundys relationship with his dad wasnt the best either was fucked up and it made me feel gross. fundys relationship with wilbur is literally what makes him such a good (if not slightly biased) judge of the situation?? hes BEEN in michaels role before and he has a unique perspective on it. his suggestions werent even that bad, they were literally like ‘maybe take him outside occasionally’ or ‘let people come hang out w him’. tommy straight up said he wanted to kill michael multiple times and the beeduo was less hostile to him. also when fundy was killed in michaels room and he was like ‘hey please dont let michael accidentally grab my stuff’. and everyone was like ‘lmaoo what a fuckin loser sure hope this mob doesnt grab your lore related weapon and netherite gear’. then fundy got mad and said hed kill michael if he grabbed any of his stuff, which is completely reasonable??? fundy was killed, he didnt die by accident, and hed been nothing but kind to michael directly even after being told hes technically a mob. hes allowed to decide that the life of one pet is worth getting his very important heavily grinded items back. beeduo are like ‘we’ll make ur life living hell if u kill michael’ like they werent the ones who killed him and threatened to let his stuff despawn. phil shows a bit of mercy but its immediately taken back. bc phil, fuckin phil that bitch, taunts him by hiding some of his stuff in his inventory to bait him into killing michael.
im probs gonna stop it here but im so fuckin genuinely pissed bc the entire stream is like that and from a lore pov its just the fucking worst. theres nothing to justify them treating fundy like that in any way when fundy has done so little to any of them jsfssdklsdks grrrrrrr

I find that Cap’s relationship with the game’s text is…interesting, to say the least, as well as telling. He has admitted that he created the Teacher Theory because the events of the prologue went against his reading of the game. He prioritizes what he THINKS/WANTS the game is saying/to say over what the game actually says, creating false information to support his narrative. He legitimately believes the onus is on others to disprove his theory in a way that he would be willing to accept, an attitude that would get him thrown out of English Lit in a heartbeat.
He wants the discussions surrounding the game to stay where they were after launch, where he was telling people “Edelgard has PTSD” and that she was right. He doesn’t want people to learn about and understand the game better, because the deeper you dig the more the foundations of his beliefs on the game crumble. Hell, I’d say he holds some contempt for Three Houses because it doesn’t deliver the experience he wanted it to.
Also, I just want to say how ironic it is that the one Lord who doesn’t have the theme of ignorance floating over their head (Dimitri) is the one often portrayed as the dumb one by the fandom. I mean, Claude’s route is in part about him realizing his ignorance and adjusting his views. He views Rhea as one of the good guys in his S support, yet people still want him to fight Rhea. Like, did you guys even pay attention at all? Dimitri may not learn about TWSITD until after the end, but he’s still not wrong in holding Edelgard responsible for the war. His issue is his desire to bring her to justice could very well turn him into a monster.
Part of the way Cap’n treats the game reminds me a lot of Naruto fanfic, actually. You can ask a good amount of Naruto fans who’ve been deep in the fandom for years - they’ve written fics, drawn fanart, get into heated debates about the anime/manga, they cheer on their faves - you ask them if they actually like Naruto? There’s a not-that-low-chance that they’ll say they don’t like it. Or even hate it.
It’s not the actual canon work itself that they like, it’s the potential its world and characters have. They express disappointment about the actual work all the time, so they go into their fanworks and simply change the shit they don’t like. I know this, because my sister is heavy into Naruto (not Boruto tho lol) and she’s read so many fanfics that will straight up be “Naruto but [x] character is actually useful” or “Naruto but [x] jutsu is actually used” because of the express purpose of “canon is ass, so I’m ignoring it.”
Which is, like, fine! For fanfiction! Sure there are probably some that think their work is “true to canon” when it’s not or whatever, but for the most part it is well acknowledged that Naruto fanfiction just does not care. Far from saying it’s canon they try to stay as far away from canon as possible sometimes.
Which is what makes Cap’n so wild! Because everything that isn’t deliberately made up (like Kronya) is genuinely what he thinks the characters actually have done/would do, what the themes of the game actually say, what the lore of 3H actually is, and it’s just… not. It literally isn’t! Objectively so! It’s not a “different interpretation,” he’s calling a circle a square with his full chest.
Like, his entire basis for his characterization of Dimitri, both in his meta and his fic (which is just his meta lol), is built on a completely misunderstood reading of the entire Japanese language. And this characterization continues on for the entire fic. Well after he would have been able to see the many debunks on his take on Dimitri from people who actually speak Japanese. That alone should bar him from being considered any kind of “expert” on these characters, because it’s clear at that point he’s no better than the Naruto fanfic writers that blatantly admit outright that they are disregarding canon. He does not like 3H’s canon, so he’s replacing it with his own - again, fine for fanfiction, but it affects his actual meta posts too. His fanfiction is basically just his meta posts with the thin veneer of being fanfiction (because remember, “Fanfiction, by its very nature, is always going to be meta” in his mind).
And also, the three lords each have their own relationship with ignorance. Because yeah, like you said, Claude’s is that he has to get over his own ignorance by listening to others and expanding his viewpoints. He goes from thinking the Church is responsible for excluding foreigners to realizing that accepting foreigners fits well and snug in Seiros doctrine, he realizes the deeper border problems of the Throat with Cyril, he realizes that Rhea is actually a good person and comes to see her as a positive influence - sure it could have been written better, but it’s still clear enough to pick up. Dimitri is funnily enough facing the problem of knowing the truth of Duscur not being guilty of regicide and having to convince others of that truth - to the extent that yeah, he could lose his way in his drive to bring the actual perpetrators to justice. Meanwhile Edelgard is over here livin’ up that “Ignorance is bliss” life and not giving a shit about trying to find out anything, at all, ever. Her stubbornness in believing that she’s the only one with the answers and thus the only one capable of holding any power in Fodlan is part of what makes her path so destructive if she were to succeed, unlike the other two lords where their success brings peace. It’s really interesting! Shame that Dimitri gets relegated to Dumbass Fence Sitter despite him being incredibly intelligent and very radical for Faerghus :/

what are your watcher grian hcs? :D
OOOHHHKKAAYYYYY TIME TO RAMBLE TY ANON ILY MUA MUA
READ MORE UNDER THE THE CUT CUZ THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG ONE
EDIT: Martyn has confirmed recently that NO, he is not a Listener, he was just working for them! This post will be edited with that in mind
so first i wanna put an emphasis on hierarchy. i sorta just Made My Own Thing for this so this is gonna get very ooc but y'know. it goes like this
Top - Watchers/Listeners
Middle - Players
Bottom - Viewers
Watchers/Listeners are the ones that can physically affect worlds, and players/viewers can become watchers in two different ways
players can become watchers if they're chosen by them, but they cannot become watchers by themselves
viewers can become watchers themselves when they heavily affect a world that they're not a direct part of (for example: i view sad-ist as a watcher, as her animations have heavily affected how the dsmp fandom/ccs interact with the characters), but they cannot be chosen by watchers to become one
listeners, on the other hand, are an entirely different story. i can imagine they're nearly as powerful as, if not as powerful as watchers, however they're seen as weaker due to not really liking to interact with worlds as much (even though they very much can and will if they deem it necessary), which has caused there to be confusion especially among newer listeners, or those who work for listeners, like Maryn, who the watchers take advantage of (y'know, squash their hopes before they even realzie they can overthrow you, all that junk)
players can become listeners kind of like how they become watchers? they're chosen by listeners, but it's not a "hey, we're taking you from your world to be a listener" sort of thing. given their much more subtle nature, i can imagine instead it'd just be that they give a player the ability to become a listener, and whatever path that player chooses dictates whether they grow into the mold or not, awakening more listener powers, etc
grian is a watcher, obviously. he was chosen by the watchers and taken from evosmp by force, but he managed to get away, joining hermitcraft and watching over it in order to make sure no watcher disturbs it or attempts to change anything about it (imo, i feel like 3rd/last life would be worlds he created to throw the watchers off his track, but that's just me)
(focusing away from hc for a second tho, i kinda feel like drista/mumza are both watchers for the dsmp. nobody said gods couldn't be watchers, right? drista isn't exactly a member of the server, but has heavily affected it and its world lore in multiple ways, same with mumza and the fact that she is canonically the goddess of death and can create entire forests, yet she isn't a member of it either 👀👀👀)

You guys are giving me way too much power by letting me talk about acting
@minecant you wanted me to rant about Techno and Wilbur's acting? Well, you asked for it
Let's start with Techno bc I realized something this morning and I cannot get it out of my head, let's go.
Techno has a really peculiar way of acting compared to anyone else, his character is a lot more aware of the fourth wall than any other character is, and actually having to keep in check a character that, to certain acting degrees, could be almost considered self-aware is actually harder than you can imagine, and of course everything that's kinda hard in scripted acting goes to a whole new level of difficoult in improv; but on the other hand, his type of acting (more specifically: the voice acting) is on the same page of 3 other characters: Tubbo, Fundy and Niki. Follow me on this, alright? The basically only thing that these 4 characters, that narratively are so different from each other,is the way they are voiced. All four of then have a really specific way of talking and talking pattern, to the point where even if you were to put the voices in a voice-changer you could still know what character is talking just because of the way they talk. Let me elaborate: Fundy usually his voice doesn't let a lot of emotions through and his speech is usually straight to the point, keeping his tone medium and trying to keep his voice relaxed; Niki's usual tone is soft and lighter, is easy to not hear it with her low tone of voice and higher pitch that give her a kinder undertone; Tubbo's tone is also one in a softer scale and lower of volume, but where Niki is easy to miss Tubbo lets a bit more emotion in all phrases to make himself pop out, he doesn't tend to go straight to the point in conversations and his tone is pretty much constant; Techno doesn't let emotions shine through his voice, more like Fundy, but to the extreme, keeping a completly monotone type of speech in basically all the situations and isn't very talkative, a character that talks one when he feels like it's needed and goes straight to the point of the conversation, not caring how that makes him come across to the other characters.
These 4 have incredibly set in stone characters, keeping always to their own set of acting rules for them. It's not easy to set yourself acting rules for your characters in an improv, but if you manage to do it's an in incredible help. Even Wilbur's character was more unhinged under that point of view, his "standard" continuing to change slightly as his mental stage declined.
But you know where does the actual strenght of having these things set in stone for your characters? That the emotions are a lot more powerfull. Let's think about it, why most of the emotive scene shock us? You can usually feel the emotions because the tone of voice lets these emotions through, it hits you because it wasn't there before, it's a switch between the usual voice and the emotive one, it gives you whiplash, but why am I talking about this?
Because these characters are able to express their emotions with a lot more power, because they always talk in a really specific way, you get used ti their tone and speech pattern without noticing it, so you maybe not actually understand it, but your brain notices when the pattern breaks, and since it is a really set in stone one, when it gets broken the whiplash is extreme. Just like when Niki rebelled against Schlatt, the whiplash was her raising her voice and abandoning the soft tone she always used, but kept the classic amount of emotions in her voice, the same thing happens with Techno and his speech: some emotions start to get throught, he doesn't get to the point quickly as always, instead he keeps on talking with extreme confidence in every word, the same confidence he always has. Whiplash guys, whiplash.
I didn't mention Quackity as one of the set-in-stone-speaking characters, because he switches too much to set the rules enough to shock when broken. I'm not saying at all that he isn't a good actor, on the contrary, his acting just works on different bases, example, Try looking at the Quackity vs Schlatt argument compared to the Tubbo vs Tommy: when Quackity got angry it wasn't expected, it was a bit alienating, it didn't feel like the Quackity we know because it was incredibly different than how his character speaks, too different (Which still isn't bad, at all, that scene was phenomenal); when Tubbo got angry it still felt like Tubbo, you could still pinpoint it was Tubbo even without hearing his voice, because even if the voice is raised, the amount of emotions is the same and the speech pattern is the same, just to the next level. So yeah.
I don't even feel like talking about Techno's lines tho, these are amazing under every technical point of view and you guys know that, so let's go to Wilbur.
Wilbur, Wilbur, Wilbur, where can I begin with Wilbur? Not only he had an extraordinary arc for his own character, he also wrote an incredible story- this guy's voice acting is off the charts in every way possible, are you telling me he didn't take acting classes as a kid? i do not believe you. Like, at all. He has a perfect hang on his voice, but this could be because he's also a singer: expressing emotions during songs is harder than you think, because you cannot let emotions ruin your exibition by making your voice crack at the wrong part or making you mess up the timing, but you also need to let them shine through or the voice will seem flat and Wil knows that perfectly, just listen to Your City gave me asthma and you'll understand what I'm going on about here.
Wilbur Soot is a showman. He manovrated the stage to shine a spotlight on himself, making us see what he wants us to see: that's why it took us so much to realize that the character didn't just "go insane" out of nowhere, the seeds were always there, we had all the hints we needed, but he was able to move his character around it, around the arc, in such a way that made us overlook all of those details until they slapped us in the face. He showed us the consequences of his character through other characters, he acted and spoke in a certain way to get a reaction from the others, and the others reacted in the exact way Wilbur planned. And those things aren't scrpited, only major plotpoints are. Wheter this was intentional on his part or it was a coincidence it's not clear, but in either cases it's still pure skill and genius.
Wilbur knew how to act and interact with every character, it's impressive
He even knew how to get Dream on his act on the festival narrative, Dream isn't always top notch at improv and we know that, but if he can get in the loop he is absolutely a distructive force, it's terrifying, and Wilbur knew exactly what to do to get Dream inside the loop of events and it's incredible.
You could guess he knew how to act with Tommy, Tubbo, Ph1lza, Techno and Schlatt, of course he did, he already knew them, but right now he has an incredibly difficoult bit with someone I would have never guessed if I didn't watch the SMP, with Fundy. I have not been in the fandom for a lot of time, but it seems like the two actually met each other on the SMP. They are carrying and incredibly emotional taxing bit with each other, and the SMP lore started just this year- more or less 7/8 months I think? Correct me if I'm wrong. The story bit these two are on is a delicate one, one wrong step and the situation explodes. The fact that they are capable to carrying it even without having known each other for a long time is honestly impressive. Things like this are incredibly hard even when scripted, in improv usually only people who blindly trusted each other for a long time are able to carry it, meanwhile Wilbur and Fundy are flawlessly running with this story arc, the character interactions are perfect, ever act, every word is so incredibly in character for both of them, in scenes like this having to keep perfect track of your character is hard, you have to concentrate on the scene, you cannot stop to think about it, you have only one take and you cannot afford to slow down the act or you risk losing the atmosphere and the momentum of it, and if you do that you'e screwed, you lost an entire scene. In improv you cannot afford slipping up, but if you actually do you have to be incredibly quick to catch yourself, lose two seconds too many and the moment is broken.
Wilbur Soot is incredibly quick to adapt his acting to ever change in his character, having to jump from the power hungry, driven crazy, obsessive, unhinged, paranoid character that is Wilbur to the sad, guilty, scared, repressed, just-wanting-to-be-happy, forgetfull, ignoring character that is Ghostbur is not something easy. Like, at all. It's a cspital switch, and he did it from a day to the other like it's nothing.
Mr Soot please leave some talent to the rest of us come on-
