I drew this original comic based on @jimabernethy ‘s dives with lemon sharks and his accounts of lemon sharks ‘getting jealous’ of him giving affection to the tiger sharks.
I admittedly neither anticipated how much that comic would blow up and circulate the internet, nor how many people would unfortunately repost and steal that comic.
I drew this in college, and I think it deserves a little update!
tiger sharks are non-selective feeders and a voracious predator. they has been known to consume a wide variety of marine prey and even some terrestrial animals. common prey include crabs, shellfish, lobsters, squid, bony fish, small sharks, skates, rays, porpoises, turtles, marine birds and mammals.
tiger sharks are apex predators meaning they don't have many natural predators. in fact one of the only known predators to this species are humans and killer whales. a killer whale is much larger in size and weight, which allows it to overpower the shark.
tiger sharks are named for the dark, vertical stripes found mainly on juveniles. as these sharks mature, the lines begin to fade and almost disappear.
Size: Usually 4-6m (13-20ft), but has been measured up to 8m (26ft)
Range & Habitat: Tiger sharks can be found from the equator to the Antarctic in warm waters. It is migratory.
Other: Identifiable by their size, round snouts, and tiger-like stripes (though the juveniles have spots, not stripes). Known for their appetite for anything, tiger sharks are sometimes called the “garbage can of the sea.” Just about everything, from license plates to chicken coops, has been found in the stomach of a tiger shark.
they have sensory organs all down their bodies to sense vibrations from movement in the water from their prey
female sharks are pregnant 14-16 months, and can hold up to 80 pups, up to 30 inches long
tiger sharks are the "garbage cans" of the ocean. some have been found with things like license plates, baseballs, bike wheels, land animals, and so much more
they get their name from the stripes on their bodies (of course)
Post-appreciation for non-human alters - because I am one of them. I may be humanoid, but I'm experiencing a SUUUPER HIGH connection to sharks. It's not even like an autistic special interest, they're just so me fr, and that's literal. Well, it's also my Special Interest, but it's not because of that, lmao.

Fuvahmula is a beautiful atoll located in the Indian Ocean. It is a great place for marine enthusiasts to come and observe the incredible creatures that lurk beneath the surface.
There is a resident family of Tiger Sharks that patrol the atoll year-round. During an afternoon dive, we were visited by a pregnant Tiger Shark. The Tiger Shark came in for a quick inspection for a minute or two then…
