percy raised an eyebrow at you, taking in the small living room before turning toward you

“you, y/n, are a person full of great ideas.”

his finger booped your nose softly, and he gave you a boyish smile that made your heart skip a beat

as you jumped up from the couch, you began listing all the things you needed: snacks, the fairy lights in your bedroom, dining room chairs, pillows, and every stuffed animal you have in your place

“yes, sir/ma’am!” percy said before running off to help you collect the materials

it doesn’t take long to put everything together after you established the blankets over the dining chairs and the back of the couch

you laid down blankets on the floor, fluffed the pillows, lined your space with stuffed animals, and decorated everything with fairy lights

by the time you peered into the fort, percy was already covered in blankets and cuddling with a squishmellow

“i’m a little jealous of puff the penguin right now,” you joked as you crawled in, joining him under the blankets

percy gave you a dopey smile, tossing the squishmellow to the side before pulling you into his arms

he pressed a soft kiss on your forehead. “you’ll always be my favorite squishmellow.”

you snorted, finding what he said to be super corny

percy’s lips that rest against your forehead curl up into a smile, and he gives you another groggy hum, “so, let’s just stay here.”

his thumb caresses your cheek before it slid down, taking your chin in its hold to gently tilt your head back

percy is quick to connect your lips once again, not giving you much time to study the fondness in his expression in the white hue of the fairy lights

the kiss you share increasingly becomes lazier, the heat and comfort of one another making the both of you sleepy

percy eventually pulls away to yawn and you smiled, amused as he mumbles a suggestion to take a nap

it hadn’t been your intention to nap here but after reflecting on the long week of late nights studying for the midterms that just passed, you figured you and perce could use a nap

with your face nuzzled against his neck and percy’s strong arms around your body, it doesn’t take long for you to drift off to sleep

For the 'send a character' asks, how about Naoto Shirogane (Persona 4) and Marianne + Dimitri? (Fire Emblem 3 houses). And yes, I'm playing a dangerous game by sending my favourites :)

Naoto

Rate them from 0-10 (0 being least favorite, 10 being all time favorite): 6! Would probably rate them higher if they showed up earlier in the game. If we're counting spin offs too then 7 or 8. Sexuality HC: Demiromantic, asexual, bisexual Gender HC: Hmm... though many would disagree I feel like both cis female and trans HC are valid depending on which sort of struggle speaks most to the player. For me personally I don't really assign any particular gender so idk 😅 Fav Moment: I liked Naoto playing the straight man during the bar scene. They put up with so much from these idiots dklfjls I also love Naoto's dancing style in the P4D, if that counts. Random HC: Idk why but Naoto kind of feels like a secret nerd to me. I feel like they don't take much time to relax in general but if they did I think they'd be quite into tabletop games, especially ones where they got to set up mysteries for others to solve. Opinion: I love Naoto! Certain a fave! The only thing I dislike is how much Atlus likes to make characters that look like carbon copies of eachother (Jun, Minato, Yusuke, etc.), Naoto included.

Marianne

Rate them from 0-10 (0 being least favorite, 10 being all time favorite): 10!!!!!!! She is one of my three favorite characters from this game Sexuality HC: Pansexual Gender HC: Cis female Fav Moment: Um, well I am 100% biased because this is one of my fave pairings but I love all of her interactions with Ignatz. Their supports had a certain softness to them that a lot of her others supports lacked. I loved her being able to build up a bit of confidence and self esteem in a scenario where she wasn't being judged and where no one was harassing her about her past or her crests. Random HC: Firstly, autistic headcanon because I just love projecting 😌Secondly, despite her inability to communicate well with others, she's actually quite talented as an poet and lyricist, though she lacks the confidence to actually share her work with anyone. I think she writes a lot of devotional songs since she's quite religious, but I feel that she would write personal pieces about her daily struggles as well. I think she'd include a lot of animal imagery in her works (and if I want to tie it back to the Ignatz supports then I think she'd also try to replicate some of the beautiful scenery that people often take for granted). Opinion: She's definitely my favorite character in the game. She's so sweet and I relate to her a lot. Her voice is very soft and pleasant to listen to and her healing powers have saved my ass many times.

Dimitri

(Disclaimer: I haven't played all of his route yet, I'm still pre-timeskip so this is based soley on what I've seen so far/the tiny bits I gathered from seeing my friend play his route) Rate them from 0-10 (0 being least favorite, 10 being all time favorite): 4! But mostly because I don't know him that well yet, this will probably go up later!

Gender HC: Trans male (idk why, just for fun!)

Fav Moment: It's not a particular moment but I found it quite interesting to join his house. I played Golden Deer first and knew that I had the wrong initial impression of Claude but that was only basing it on the first meeting with him (before you choose) so it wasn't too alarming. With Dimitri, however, I was quite shocked to have seen this serious and uptight man from the outside this whole time, only to join his house and find out that he can be a little goofy and kind of a sweetheart at times but also that he has this scary and cryptic side to him (well, that it's present under the surface from the beginning I should add). I liked it a lot, it was a nice surprise!

Random HC: I don't think I've fully decided on any head canons yet, though I'd like to think he's a little more hurt and frustrated by Felix's treatment of him than he lets on.

Opinion: I do love a blonde man with trauma. I forsee him being a favorite soon, I am really liking him so far! I cannot wait to see this man become unhinged. ----------- Thanks for the asks, I didn't think anyone would even send one lol. Good taste in faves! :D

Victoria “Capella” Olgimskaya, the future White Mistress

First impression:

Meeting P1 Capella was... okay. Kinda boring. Cute design though. Some interesting, messed up politics going on around there. Meeting P2 Capella was... also okay. Also kinda boring. She's not a character type that speaks to me right away, and I was a little put off about how Pure and Mighty she tries to be, and by the whole White Mistress, "oh-my-mom-was-the-best" business.

Impression now:

Some stuff have changed, but I guess maybe not that much? Hahaha. I'm not Capella's biggest fan, and she might even be my least favorite of the Termites(though. you know. they're all just so lovable!), but I think I learned to appreciate her more. Victoria's/Capella's gift still creeps me out though, the power to be liked by everyone, to pacify... no wonder her following is so cult-like. Well, I can confidently say I don't think she's boring anymore.

Favorite moment:

In P1... Hm, my memory is not the best, and truth be told, I only played through Bachelor route and just read through all the others without playing. But Capella's thoughts on the Polyhedron always intrigued me, the way she describes it, her hatred for it... I also really enjoy the moments that show that her and Taya are tight. That's one odd and sweet friendship. In P2, I really like the scene where she tries to take the kids from Artemy. Bossy, entitled, righteous Capella... she shows herself as an Olgimskaya and takes what you(as Artemy) cares the most about. "It's for the best, you see, you wouldn't understand. I'm your ally, but I'm not your friend."

Idea for a story:

Oh I’d love to see some sardonic, sitcom-like bits about the inside dynamics of the Olgimsky. The dad is a horrible, money-obsessed guy, but he worships the daughter and puts down the son at every opportunity, no matter what he does. The mom is an incarnated saint who can do no (apparent)wrong, loved by everyone...except her child son, but eh, who cares about that boy. They are obscenely rich, and incapable of relating to more than one third of the population of their small town, from whose sweat and blood(literally) their fortune is built on. It’s horrible. And I think it could be horribly hilarious to read about.

Unpopular opinion:

Hmm, lemme think... I do not trust Capella to make the best decisions for everyone on her own, and I think she really really needs a wake up call about all that Mistress business and how it's a system that fucks up everything for everyone. Not sure if that one is unpopular, but eh.

Favorite relationship:

Shipping-wise, I have nothing, though I guess Clara/Capella could be cute potentially, idk. Friendship-wise, I'd love to see her interact more with Maria, since they seem to share a rivalry but admire each other, which I think is neat. I also really like that she's close to Taya, and I think her and Khan hanging out with Notkin is a very fun premise.

Favorite headcanon:

Capella has no idea what anything costs in the real world. "We're getting Grace a new pair of boots. How much could it even cost? Twenty thousand?"

At the same time, she’s an insanely good saleswoman. That girl could sell anything and convince almost anyone, and it's really a blessing that she doesn't want to continue the wretched family business.

Although shipping in APH OC fandom is complicated because… Since we’re working with characters aren’t canon, every person will have their own interpretation of X,Y and Z nation and their relationships, and I think people are prone to have at least a bit of personal bias towards specific nations… which isn’t necessary a bad thing, after all we aren’t the same and come from different backgrounds (heck, even people from the same country can have very different interpretations of their own nations!).

I’m saying this because I’m taking your “new to South America” as “I do not have much knowledge about these nations and their international relationships”, so I just want to add that everything you see here or any of my blogs comes from my own personal interpretations of what anthropomorphic south american nations would be and behave like.

For example, I just cannot ship Argentina x Paraguay x Uruguay between themselves, because to me, they are related, I headcanon them as family.

Some people may disagree on that, some may see their relationships as romantic and that’s okay! All headcanons are valid and we can all coexist!

With that being said…I admit that I am not the biggest shipper around, lmao. I don’t get much asks/art requests about pairings in the first place, and my blogs are mainly multishipping/ship neutral, though I did addressed a few pairings before.

Oh man... people who follow any of my blogs probably already know this I’m sorry, but they are my favorite pairing in the entire continent? I think their personalities would complement each other well? Also the role their historical baggage plays into their relationship? And how overlooked not only the possibility of a romance, but also friendship between these nations is, and how much in common they actually have? And not counting the fact they are founding members of the MERCOSUL, but both nations just so happen to run together one of the most important dams in the world so ofc they would interact all the time? And don’t even get me started on everything that led to the construction of said dam in the first place. They are both nations with a very complex relationship that often goes overlooked specially because there aren’t many people interested in writing about aph Paraguay, which I believe can’t be helped because Paraguay is a nation that often gets overlooked in South America. In this essay I will

I have a soft spot for them?:

ArgChi - honestly where do I even start with these two? They have, like, SO MUCH history together its not even funny. Like... Argentina helped Chile get their independence (Also Abrazo de Maipu anyone? like bruh, the 2 of them were there watching that), and as much as both nations had many conflicts, they still helped one another, like many times? and they may or may not have been growing on me lately?

EcuPeru - I've talked about them before, but they, like, their histories are intertwined and despite many conflicts they had through years, both nations relationship improved, and they have been stable for years (specially with trading, tourism, etc)... and I think it could work? Also I think its cute? also I ship my Peru OC with canon Ecu fite me irl

I Think about them... sometimes... I think they could Work?:

BraUru - They’re one of my brotps already but like...They both share a lot of history together as well? On top of having good irl relations, I like the way their personalities complement one another. also I think they look cute together.

VeneBoli - I already see them as good friends, but I think they could work as a pairing? And they have history together too? Not only Venezuela helped liberating them from spanish empire, the country was named after Simón Bolivar himself while its true that Bolivar didn’t want them to break free from Peru, but then again, he had that plan for an whole ass unified South America, but in the end, he relented lol idk man to me it could work.

ParaWan - Ok I just... I love the irl relations between Paraguay and Taiwan so much and they’re already a personal brotp of mine, but I think they would work as a couple too. They’d be adorable together. Pure fluff. Also I’m biased because I fucking love aph Taiwan so much

Honorary mentions because I think they’re cute:

ParaCol - I already see them being good friends. Good relations IRL, also historically Colombia stood up for Paraguay after the Triple Alliance War and offered to take in their citizens had anything happen to their homeland and I think that is beautiful.

kotlc gang music headcanons

this is my first headcanon post! let me know what you think! also sorry if anyone’s already done this topic before, but either way this is my take on it :)

when keefe is in his feels he listens to songs like “i was all over her” by salvia path and “how to never stop being sad” by dandelion hands. the really sad, emo lofi stuff.

but that doesn’t mean he won’t jam out to the top 50 charts, and he loves shawn mendes and justin bieber. he definitely plays bieber super loud to wake people up, and is always humming “baby” under his breath (or singing it really obnoxiously)

bonus: he definitely has like 10 playlists about sophie. sad ones, happy ones, ones he wants to give her to confess his love... you name it.

bonus bonus: being an empath, he has a playlist for pretty much every emotion he’s ever felt, and when he gets sad, he gets SAD SAD (see above). so he ends up having like 200 playlists, all with very specific emotions tied to them

fitz definitely likes wallows. idk just a feeling, i think they fit his vibe. i think he’d like still woozy, the band camino, and bad suns as well. they all have a very sophisticated, catchy, urban feel.

fitz is probably the type to lay calmly in his bed with his headphones in and tune out the world with some good ass tunes, not when he’s sad, but so he can “appreciate the music,” as he explains it.

bonus: when he and sophie had their little thing, he made her a playlist full of his favorite love songs, and when he gave it to her, she almost cried

biana loves empowered women in the music industry!! she likes daya, maggie lindemann, bea miller, and of course taylor swift. she plays their music before a mission to get everyone hyped up, and whenever linh, sophie, or marella is sad, she has just the song to cheer them up.

linh has the best taste in music of the group and is always offering to make people playlists because she’s a a sweetheart and loves sharing her music. she likes clairo, mxmtoon, beabadobee, and summer salt. all nice and calming songs to drive to or vibe to.

she also has a bunch of playlists of calming acoustic or ukulele songs that she listens to while practicing hydrokinesis, and they help her concentrate.

bonus: she and dex make lots of playlists together and are always reccomending music to each other because their taste is really similar

we already know sophie listens to hard rock. her favorite band is ac/dc and she has head banging dance parties in her room (sometimes sandor joins in) to let off steam.

i also headcanon that she also really likes folk rock. vance joy makes her really nostalgic, and her favorite band is the lumineers. i feel like she also loves ok go and always shows everyone their cool music videos

dex also has really good taste and he loves making playlists for everyone, just like lihn, because again, he’s a sweetheart. he likes troye sivan and harry styles the most. he definitely cries to “falling” and “cherry,” but he LOVES “kiwi” and it makes him feel like a badass.

he also likes gnash and finds a lot of comfort in his music, because it makes him feel less alone. (“left out,” “lil tokyo,” “lonely again,” “be,” and “dear insecurity” come to mind.)

when he’s working on a gadget he plays that one chill lofi music stream on youtube because it gets him in the zone.

ok and finally i also think he’d like dayglow and plays him when he’s in a good mood, and he’s constantly telling everyone to listen to him because “it literally sounds like sunshine, guys, you have to listen!!!”

tam doesn’t show anyone his music and his spotify username is TOP SECRET (he even goes as far to say he doesn’t listen to any at all, until lihn finds a knotted black pair of headphones by his bed).

however he actually LOVES so many bands and singers and stays up late listening to music when he thinks everyone else is asleep. he likes the 1975’s first album the most, but also likes their newer ones, though he wishes they had stayed with the grunge theme a little more.

i think he’d also like eden a lot and really appreciate his artistry and he vibes to his music every night when he’s stressed or anxious.

finally, i think he really likes conan gray, especially his new album. it just fits his vibe!!

bonus: he’s a conan gray stan

marella is a bad ass bitch so she listens to her bad ass bitch playlist 24/7. she loves mumble rap and her favorites are playboi carti and lil uzi vert. they make her feel like she’s rich, successful, and independent, and they inspire her to keep working towards that lifestyle.

i’m sorry but stina is the friend that’s like “my music taste is so underground” and then proceeds to listen to the most basic tik tok indie songs like “loving is easy” “prom queen” “can i call you tonight” “maniac” and “pretty girl”

jensi only listens to minecraft parody songs and the undertale soundtrack

What was the first fandom and/or pairing that you wrote fic for? Uh, probably Danny Phantom when I was like twelve 😂

Do you participate in any writing events or challenges throughout the year? If so, what do you like about them? Nope bc this is a small fandom and we don’t do many of those.

Do you write fics from start or finish, or jump around? I usually start at the start and then when I get stuck I’ll just skip that part, keep going, and come back to it later. If I have an idea and I’m afraid I’ll forget it, I might also skip ahead and write it.

Do you outline before you start writing? If so, how far do you stray from that outline? I love outlining more that actually writing lmao, the longer the fic the more I outline. I usually stick to it pretty closely, which isn’t aways good for my writing...

What is the perfect environment for you to write in? Quiet and private. Other than that I haven’t figured out the tricks to getting myself to focus :(

If you’re really concentrating, how many words can you write in a day? Occasionally when I’m really inspired I’ll write like 1000, but more often I just write a paragraph or two.

Which part of writing do you struggle with most? Too many ideas, too little actual writing capacity. It’s hard to focus on finishing fics bc I get too distracted by my other ideas, and I rarely write sequels bc there’s so much I haven’t gotten to share yet.

Do you listen to music while you write? If so, share a song that’s been inspiring you lately. Nope, can’t write with music, I get too distracted.

Do you prefer to write AUs, canon divergence, or canon-compliant fic? AUs!!!

Do you enjoy writing dialogue, exposition, or plot the most? Probably dialogue? Exposition is great bc I get to explain the AU, but It’s not good for the flow of the fic. Dialogue can be really satisfying to write when you get in a groove with it.

If you could only write angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your life, which would it be? Fluff!

Is there a trope you haven’t written yet but really want to? Oh god so many. I have notes on tons of tropes I’d like to write... I’d like to do a college AU (and I meant to do it while I was actually in college but oops). I posted a soulmate AU once but I’d like to do another. Oh and I have lots of ideas for crossover AUs and I’m still deciding how to handle those.

Is there a trope you wouldn’t write if it was the last trope on earth? Honestly probably not. I’m not huge on character death, genderbends, or reader inserts, for example, but I have ideas for fics involving all of those.

If you were stuck on a desert island with only two characters, which would you pick? No one from gnr that’s for sure, that’d be a disaster. How about... Percy Jackson and idk Wonder Woman?

A Hollywood producer tells you that they want to film just one of your fics. Which fic would you want it to be? Hmm out of the fics that I’ve posted... maybe Sumthin’ for Nuthin’ actually? I abandoned that poor fic but I still really like the plot. And there’s plenty of longer, more plot-heavy fics I have outlined that would be cool to see as films. In general I often imagine concepts visually instead of with words.

What is your most underrated fic? Saving Grace didn’t get a lot of notes and I get why – it’s kinda niche and there’s no actual romance. But I think it’s well-written and I’m proud of it.

What fic are you most proud of? Maybe the whole cat!slash universe? I don’t think it’s my best writing per se, but I’m still really attached to the concept and it was a pleasant surprise that other people seemed to like it too.

What is a line/scene you’re really proud of? Give us the DVD commentary for that scene. I’ve always been partial to the paragraph in Sweetness that ends with “Their coffee has long gone cold (and so has Duff’s spine - snakes give him the heebie-jeebies), but Slash’s enthusiasm is sweeter than the Duff’s half-eaten bowl of melted ice cream, and Duff is eating it up with a spoon.” Just... the coffee is cold and so is Duff’s spine, Slash is sweet and so is the ice cream, and using “eating it up with a spoon” idiomatically while it’s also thematically relevant to a sentence about dessert... I really like to layer meaning when I can.

Who is the easiest/hardest character for you to write about? Why? Slash tends to be the center in most of my writing, but actually I think it’s easier to write from Duff’s pov. Maybe bc when I’m writing sluff I can just channel my crush on Slash through Duff lmao. Interesting tho bc when it comes to the real people, I find Slash much more relatable than Duff or the others.

What’s your favorite minor character you’ve written? Hah maybe Slash in the funeral home AU, it’s a duzzy ficlet so he’s just a side character but I got a kick out of writing his and Steven’s background antics.

What is the one fic that got away? Well, I really wish I’d finished Sumthin’ for Nuthin’ before I kinda lost interest in Motley Crue, that fic was gonna get more dramatic from there. Would it be worth it to just post the outline? Plus there’s a few potential longfic ideas that I’ve put a lot of love into, but I doubt they’ll ever be posted or completed considering the way I can’t seem to focus on one idea long enough to write more than a one-shot :( But hey I guess you never know.

Have you cried while writing a fic? Nope. I do have some angsty ideas though, hopefully they’ll surface someday.

If you had to remix one of your own fics, which would it be and how would you remix it? Someday I’d like to rewrite the cat!Slash fic from the beginning, make it a real multichap or at least a proper series of vignettes. Id also be interesting in a darker version of that AU, since there’s definitely potential for that in the concept. But I’m pretty attached to the fluffy little universe I made, so I’d probably prefer to explore those darker themes in a different (but maybe similar) universe – I have a few ideas.

How did you come up with title for [x fic]? Most of my fics have self-explanatory titles or none at all, the only one I have much to say about is Saving Grace. Duff needed a miracle to get out of his situation, Slash was his saving grace. But also, Grace is the name of Duff’s oldest daughter, and Duff’s motive in the story is trying to “save” her. Despite the double meaning in the title, I avoided referring to the child by name or as Duff’s “daughter”/explaining how they ended up together. I wanted to maintain some of the mystery of the apocalyptic genre: characters with mysterious origins, found families, aliases, etc. That’s definitely one of the ways that Mad Max and DOOM influenced this fic. (Oh, also Serpentine is a dick joke via a wttj reference: “My serpentine.” That’s it tho, the rest are pretty straightforward.)

Which idea came to you first in [x fic]? Feel free to send a fic for any/all of the next few questions! Generally speaking, my ideas are character driven, I want to portray a character or relationship a certain way and I build a world that allows me to do that.

Ok, so I have three main longfic ideas, but the easiest one to explain is an AU set in a version of the 1980s where ancient greek deities exist, Axl’s life is parallel to that of Perseus, and Slash is cursed like Medusa. Lots of drama, lots of influence from greek theater, untrustworthy gods, unrequited feelings, dramatic irony... fuck I hope I write it someday.

An Apology Letter, SMA Love Letter, & Gabi Appreciation Letter

Let me begin this review by apologizing. Not just for waiting almost a year to review this insanely awesome chapter (don’t even tell me I don’t have to; I’ll drive up state just to take you by the shoulders and shake you and that silly thought out of your head; it is an honor and privilege to tell you how awesome you are!), but also for the tone of this review feeling so haggard. 2018 was, as Damon told Kai, “not a good look”, and I feel like it’s digested all the gall and sass and shit-starting energy I usually dole out for these reviews, so here I am, a regurgitation, still holding to the fact that you’re a fabulous writer who deserves all the praise I can possibly muster for your efforts. Despite having a life (or not, considering, ya know, med school), you still post on this page; you’re clearly still carrying the headcanons and the plot and the characters with you. I know the feeling of having the desire to write but feeling too tired, physically and emotionally, or disinterested or unmotivated, or whatever so I can’t even sit in your inbox like “hey love sma! You write soooo good. You’re awesome! and uh when are you gonna update?” Of course, I’d love an update, but I also know you. You want to put out your best work, what you’re at least 95% proud of, and it’s so obvious in Chapter 17.

Side note: I reread Chapter 16 and my review to give myself context and bolster some pizazz just for you.

REPLY: Let me begin my response to this review by apologizing for MY TEARS. Cass, you’re just an absolute light in this bitchy eclipse of a world and your ridiculous kindness radiates off every sassy, stubborn, talented, vulnerable, open-hearted part of you and I’m so, so happy I get to call you a friend. The fact that you took the time to write all of this despite your ridiculously busy, full, grad student, WEDDING-PLANNING (at the time) life, largely because you knew it’d put an idiotic smile on my face? You’re just a gem of a human being. I don’t know what else to say. I’m trying to keep my responses as succinct as possible because I’m so eager to post this and share your insights and writing with everyone else, partly because they always make me and my dumb writing look smarter than it actually is, but mostly because it’s a crime to keep it from the world. Anyway, onward and upward:

Bamon + Kai + the Pig Cadaver

To remind the audience, Bamon had a pretty petty and deep-cutting fight last chapter; Damon got over himself, with the help of Kai (kinda), and now Bamon are on better terms. That being said, these two dumbies are so… nerve-wrackingly good at detaching themselves from conflict. Like, I feel like Steroline would have put up walls and ruminated hard on something as harsh as Damon’s mention of Bonnie’s shitty life, but Bamon are King and Queen of sweeping the bad shit under the rug.

REPLY: I think it’s so cool that you point that out because it made me realize that’s one of my favorite things about writing Bonnie and Damon: they’re ability to both deliver and take hits. They’ve both gone through some really dark, messed up stuff - the kind of stuff people with more traditional upbringings tend to tiptoe around because they don’t know how to talk about it - so it’s almost like to be accepted in their entirety, they need to be around people who are unafraid of that stuff. Unafraid to go there. Unafraid to bring it up, unafraid to cross lines sometimes, unafraid to make jokes about messed up experiences and accept them about each other without flinching. I think they can recover quickly from those kind of blows from each other because in a weird way, at least they’re being acknowledged. At least someone’s talking about it without getting that wincing, deer-in-the-headlights look and acting like it’s a forbidden topic. Obviously in the last chapter, Damon took it too far and was trying to actively alienate her with his comments, but in general I really enjoy writing their budding sense of familiarity with each other. Anyway, good thing I’m being succinct right the review hasn’t even really started GOOD LORD.

Damon jolting Bonnie like she’s being electrocuted is so unbearably cute to me. So domestic. So friendly but also playful but also coupley… I’m dead.

“Wow, you’re really going full nerd.”/”Oh… you sweet summer child, you haven’t even begun to see full nerd.” In my previous review, I (demanded) mentioned wanting more nerd!Bonnie, and you delivered. What an honor, truly.

“It was like he’d [Kai] never left, except now he was surrounded by a bunch of wires and a mini Tesla coil.” I don’t know if I ever mentioned this, but I think it’s so funny and silly that you embedded some serious sci-fi shit in this romcom fic. Like, we’re really out here, considering is Kai an alien? Can Kai really teleport or “dissolve in and out of the time-space continuum as he pleases”? He’s not just creepy or socially inept. He’s also fucking extraterrestrial.

lmfao in chapter 16 or 15 or whichever it was where they explored Kai’s apartment while he went swan-hunting, I had to make a choice about whether to keep things semi-realistic or just go balls-to-the-wall cray re: Kai and I think we all know which route I decided to take 😂

“Still, it was a surprisingly appealing thought, the idea of having some kind of effect on him.”/ “Snagging the unsnaggable.”/ “Ruffling the unruffable.” We out here, making up words and shit; my Word doc spell-check is having a field day. But her observation about having dealt with guarded people kind of relates to what I was tryna say earlier on: both Damon and herself are very guarded, and her ability to see that nothing truly sticks to him is reflective of that same for her.

“It was like he was coated in oil, like his entire personality was adapted to glide through life without ever catching on anything around him.” / “Even the good things.” Talk about knife to the gut (why yes, this is a reference to the future Steroline conversation, which I am using to demonstrate how fucking enamored I am by this understanding of Damon’s character). I feel like Damon started as the kid thinking “if things are good, then something bad is gonna happen” to “good? bad? what are those and, more importantly, who fucking cares?”

Just another day of Cass making me feel like a far better writer than I am because she always gets exactly what I’m going for and then explains it better than I do. That’s precisely his trajectory, man. He went from a kid with no control of his own life, constantly bracing for impact, to a kid who realized nothing can control if you don’t give a fuck. If good things don’t make you happy and bad things don’t make you sad, you’re always at equilibrium. You’re always at a steady-state. And most importantly, you’re at a steady-state that no outside factor controls.

“Maybe the oil coat went more than skin-deep.” Foreshadowing! I like this conversation a lot though. Insight about Bonnie’s past (another gracious gift promised last review, thank you SMA goddess for such a blessing) and her PTSD and embarrassment about the shit show that is her parents.

Bonnie’s “I wish I could turn it off like that.” Speaking of shit shows, nice nod to canon.

“Was that—vulnerability?” Yes baby, revel in it! Idk if you did this on purpose, but it’s like Damon is leaning into his previous realization of her cracking his “varnish” (just realizing his description of a glossy seal is an almost visual parallel to Bonnie’s description of him being slick with oil (I’m thinking like petroleum)… anyways). Like, “she’s already seen me lose my fucking mind in the cellar, being a little vulnerable about it won’t hurt, right?” I mean, yes, but also, Bonnie is a shit-starter too, babe.

“Were those—emotions?” / “I hate knowing you.” / “Are you okay? Do you need some water?” and later paired with “How does it feel to be a human being?” / “Stupid.” / “That means you’re doing it right.”

You know how I feel about Kai’s “Friends!” He is so weird, and I love it, but I’m also afraid that I love it. Thanks!

Yeeeesssss, I wanted to show him slowly starting to adjust to the fact that she’s seen things. Him. And you know what, here they are anyway. The world’s still spinning. She’s still being her weirdo competitive self. So maybe it’s not the worst thing to have (albeit accidentally) let someone in a little. A big motivation for me re: Bamon in this chapter was getting them to the point where they eased into being comfortable sharing things with each other. Not everything, obviously, but way more than they share with the average person. Kind of like a ‘well we’re stuck in this ridiculous situation and we’re unexpectedly more alike than we think so maybe we just lean in a little’. So I’m really glad that’s what you got out of this, WOOT.

Kai’s everyone’s friendly neighborhood son/serial killer and I think it’s best to just let yourself adore him and hope for a minimal body count.

The Matt Talk

I think I already told you I was so emotionally distraught this chapter. If you’re new to SMA, hi I’m Cassandra and I’m always an emotional mess when it comes to Gabi’s writing. But, this was some next level shit. You’ve said so many times you’re worried about how these emotional scenes go, but like fuck dude. You went hard, and it was so difficult for me not to be actually crying. Idk, I’ve never been in Caroline’s situation or known anyone to go through this, but the whole injustice of it, you know? The possibility that any woman could be going through this or has gone through this. I’m not belittling the men who have been abused in their relationships, of course. What I am saying is if I am taking this personally, having never experienced it, but as a female, knowing this could very well happen, that means your writing is fucking spot on.

Full-disclosure, your entire breakdown of this scene is just the most beyond fantastic thing that I don’t even want to break it up with shitty responses. I’m pretty sure reading your insights about it affected me more than the entire multi-week process of actually writing it, so idk how you did that but here we are. For the millionth time, your responses are the only reason I think maybe all my fumbling and exasperated editing is somehow producing something half-okay. I’m dying whale noises. Bye.

Setting the scene up with Steroline in the tub, for being their poetic selves tryna be symmetrical in their emotional moments and emphasizing how thick the silence around them is… oof dude. I know you have that “movie” mentality when you write, and idk how you fucking do it, but it definitely translates. Idk if you’ve ever been in a moment like this, where you need to say something of Importance to someone of Importance, but your voice has just gone on vacation for a minute, and you’re sitting there with an empty tongue, and, in my experience, the person tries to prompt you about what you’re trying to say, but I’ve been in moments like this. So, this set up was so poignant for me. Luckily, she’s talking to Stefan, the boy who listens to even Rebekah earnestly and wholeheartedly.

Caroline’s Gazania daisies metaphor: shit breaks my heart. How long did she think about this? The metaphor is like… a detachment. Like, how light bends in water. Her story is the light, the flower metaphor is the water, allowing the story to refract, to be that much more removed from the reality.

“A flicker of intimacy based not on things they’d experienced together, but rather things they’d experienced apart.” I think it loops back to Bamon too, whether neither are eloquent enough to make that seamless connection. I think that should be the tag line of each ship; these very different people are tied to one another by feeling what they’ve felt and relating it back to what the other(s) has (have) felt.

I think you’ve very skillfully woven canon and SMA for Matt’s story. TVD made him the human golden boy, and SMA has him resentful and dark… and it just goes to show how environment can really shape a character’s outcome. tvd!Matt saw the supernatural as the reason his life was so shitty and suddenly had a purpose; sma!Matt didn’t have that scapegoat, so without rhyme or reason for his shitty circumstance, he fabricated that it was somehow Caroline.

Fucker.

“Senior year was kind of a train wreck” to “We were still okay, though. Still us.” Rereading this part made me seriously think of like… a slingshot. Like, all of this is just leading up to the snap and the release of Matt’s true colors. And how devastatingly it was that Caroline didn’t know, honestly couldn’t know, that it was going to happen.

Shit like Matt being mad at Caroline for proudly blurting out she got accepted into NYU when Vicky had just OD’ed is so fucked up to me. To be actually mad about it. Bro, stay mad about it. But that’s the point, isn’t it? That this was the final straw for him, the last thing to tip him into batshit abusive fuck mode.

As a therapist, I could easily say, he is clearly shaped by his circumstances, he didn’t have enough support or self-esteem to fully develop the core values and strengths that he needed to not become this abusive piece of shit, that there might be some self-awareness by the way he tries to remedy a bad fight with a great breakfast (or a learned behavior to get approval again). Even if I do consider those things, irl and even with Matt, it’s in no way condonable, and I don’t think I could ever be able move from this point of view.

“She’d lived like that for months, a blur of turtlenecks and concealer, of overbright smiles and obsessive thoughts, of guilt and blame and normalizing the abnormal, of questioning if what she thought was happening was actually happening.” / “Could actually be happening.” Just reading this summarizes all the females who are in relationships like this, who question whether their partners’ could actually be raping them… ugh. It breaks my heart even now, writing this review.

(Honestly, I had to step away and resume the next day)

Caroline’s comeback: “He was staring at the old Caroline. The one he hadn’t broken in. The one that ran on gall and instincts, that didn’t dim herself for anyone, that’d jump in front of a bus for the people she loved… She’d grown back into her skin. Unshrunken till she was towering over him, a bright, brilliant light staring down at a meager lick of flames.” This whole bit was so good, so relieving, so satisfying. I know what Matt did still haunts her, but Caroline coming back and reclaiming who she is, even to present time, is so, so satisfying.

“Let’s be real, though, Bonnie could probably beat us both up.” / “Definitely.” – these were my thoughts when Caroline was defending her lol.

THIS IS MY SHIT DUDE. First off, this visual representation of a person is so beautiful and inspiring and so full of grace and forgiving, you know what I mean? It just shouts volumes to how okay it is to fail sometimes or to feel Feelings, and how it shouldn’t and couldn’t be used against her. It’s literally the expanded and improved version of “reach for the stars” – more like be the universe, among the stars, and reach for the unknown. BIG OOF.

I don’t remember if its this chapter or last, but Stefan indulging in Caroline’s playful side, and Caroline recognizing Stefan’s sassypants is by far my favorite Steroline Thing ™ in this story. Parallelly, Bonnie’s Damon-ain’t-shit attitude, and Damon’s she’s-more-than-I-anticipated revelation is my favorite Bamon Thing ™.

But real quick, exiting emotional turtle stance to say that I feel like you and I have always been super in sync about liking writing that celebrates messiness and imperfections and humanity in all it’s mistake-ridden earnestness so I’m not surprised you liked the universe metaphor as much as I did. Oh, here it is again: “Now that he knew what a genuine fucking weirdo she was, he was a little curious about what she’d actually been thinking.” I know fluffy moments such as Never Have I Ever (before shit hit the fan) are most likely over, but if they were to return, I suggest Truth or Dare, and Damon asks Bonnie what she thought of him when he’d met Caroline (and her) at that club. Listen, both Damon and I want to know. I’m not saying make it happen, but I am.

There’s another dinner coming for their last snowed in night because I’m nothing if not repetitive and I think Truth or Dare is a trope I can definitely work in. I mean, I wouldn’t want it to feel left out given that I’ve used every other fanfic trope known to mankind.

But also yes to this AU. @coraxes once wrote this awesome drabble where Bonnie and Damon met as teenagers and because of it I’ve always wanted to do some alternate timeline where they grew up in the same city, weaving in and out of the same seedy social circle as teens, flickering in and out of the periphery of each other’s lives, but always having this strange tension whenever their paths happened to cross, you know? Just these rare, vaguely loaded interactions where they both saw glimpses of the fact that the other was smarter than this, better than this, you know? That they both were. The point of this all being that I could imagine them both showing off whatever it is they know about guns, lololol.

From “he held out his [launcher] and she stared at it for a beat before grudgingly taking it” to “in the split-second before she spoke, he suddenly knew exactly what was about to happen” STRAIGHT UP, UNFILTERED GOLD. Like, there’s no other explanation, really. You’re the Midas of Belvafore. I’m calling it, it has been declared, no take backsies or arguments from you, young lady.

The Elena Talk

Stefan’s safe space being Bonnie’s room – my heart. There are a lot of things I don’t like about canon, you know, but it would have made so much sense to have a stefonnie friendship (more than bamon, honestly). I didn’t know I needed it until SMA lol.

Listen, I was never into it until I wrote this. I don’t even know where it came from - I legit think the clips for the first trailer I made just worked out that way so I rolled with it, but once I started writing it it felt so natural? They just bounce off each other so easily, it’s one of my fave dynamics to write in a fic full of dynamics I love to write.

The glow-in-the-dark stars: I can totally imagine Stefan helping Bonnie move into every new place, and once all the boxes are in, he’s like, all right now for the real reason I helped you move in, and he rearranges the constellations by memory.

LMAO YES.

The fire escape call backs lol. I feel like every single person in this universe is a shit-starter—it just comes easier to Daroline lol.

The segue from the glow-in-the-dark stickers to “Bright things fade” in reference to the bright, warm, gooey-ness that was Stelena. You already know, I am impressed times a thousand, as always. I also think using this space theme between them is interesting and something to be explored. (I feel like an English teacher, and like maybe it was intentional, maybe it wasn’t. Either way, there is something there, and honestly, as the writer, it was your gut feeling to go with this theme, so maybe it was a subconscious effort, if not fully intentional). (Fight me).

We can go with me having complicated, writery instincts with layers and intricacies that are all very intentional or we can go with me not being creative enough to come up with another metaphor.

The Meet-Cute has a quality that makes it perfect for Stelena. Yes, you are the author, and yes, you created what is ‘perfect’ for them, and yet? It could have easily been a different meet-cute, not Stefan’s speechlessness or her instant smitten-ness. God, he is such a Ted Mosby. But, at least, he’s learning from his Elena experience, that love may not exactly work like that. Maybe love-at-first-sight is a thing (hard maybe), but like Caroline soon alludes to, it’s more devastatingly impactful if love is grown as between two friends or even two people who don’t even like each other (both ships, honestly).

THE TED MOSBIEST. I honestly had trouble writing some of that scene because I was trying to walk the fine line between ‘this guy is sappy and unrealistic but ultimately earnest’ and ‘this guy has imposed wildly unrealistic ideals onto the world around him and it comes from a place of entitlement and privilege and neither the narrative nor the characters condone it’. I’m a big hater of the Ted Mosby’s of the world because I feel like they go through the motions of ‘growing’ but actually just keep doing the exact same thing and falling head over heels for girls that ‘disappoint them’ without ever seriously looking at themselves, so what I tried to do in the scene was show the side of Stefan that’s kind of messed up AND the side of him that realizes he’s kind of messed up. I wanted Caroline’s original dislike of him to make a little more sense, but also wanted to show you why he’s different from the prototypical Nice Guy. He knows that he was unrealistic. He knows that he purposefully turned a blind eye to red flags. He knows that he was putting too much weight on something that had a flimsy foundation at best. But he’s still human and admits that he’s never felt something that electric before, despite all that knowledge, and that’s why he hasn’t been able to shake this for two years. SO yeah, he’s an interesting one to pin down.

Sidenote about the Salvatores: I think it’s interesting that the first person Rebekah calls is Stefan, Stefan calls Lexi. Does that mean Lexi calls Freya? Freya probably doesn’t call a damn one of them lol. It’d be interesting if Lexi or Freya called Rebekah, for non-logical thinking, you know what I mean? I feel like Freya (even though it should be impossible to feel anything about her, considering she’s just a thought at this point) is very well-grounded, and she has a harder time thinking with her heart—and that’s why she might call someone like Rebekah. Omg, could you imagine that they all want to call Stefan, but if he’s busy, they call one another like, “Okay what would Stefan say? What would Stefan do?” Lol, headcanon.

Honestly this is perfect. And you’ve got Freya down to a T so idk how that happened. One of my fave things is getting headcanons about the Salvatores because they’ve basically had like one scene (two for Rebekah) on the phone and yet everyone just gets them. Every headcanon I get is spot-on. It’s delightful.

“Sounds like you and me”… “You said scowls and blizzards and vomit-inducing disdain, right?” lol oh Caroline. Allergic to a sincere moment, either reacting very, very violently or with a joke to help alleviate his discomfort.

She’s a syrupy little thing.

“Nothing could diminish the drug-rush feeling that’d flooded his veins”. I think it’s interesting that his reaction is “Nothing could ever make him forget that he was capable of feeling that much” and not that he wanted to feel that feeling again. It seems like him staying with Elena was him resupplying that feeling, but irl, it seems like people are more likely to relationship-hop, thinking that the relationship/the significant other was at fault, that love in its full drug-like capacity is worth it and they need, need, need it. It’s interesting that he turned inward and actively avoids feeling that way. He later says “It’s so hard not to want to feel it again” but what keeps him from feeling that way again? Is it Caroline’s fear of a person’s potential to ruin? Or maybe it’s just that he hadn’t found someone who is like that? Does Stefan even date around? I’m curious about your insight.

This actually took me a while to pin down in the story because canon was so all over the place with Stefan’s love life - I feel like he had a new love-of-his-life-from-the-past every season and if it wasn’t this random guest star, it was the other one, you know? He was kind of a serial monogamist in canon and yet still managed to have this distinct air of believing in a singular soulmate/’Elena’ lowkey being the be all, end all, you know? So I basically ignored that confusing shit and conceptualized him as a very picky person when it came to love. He doesn’t fall easily - or before Elena, ever. He mentions dating Valerie in high school and I’m sure he went on a few dates here and there in early college, but Elena was a punch in the face for him. He didn’t know what it was about her. He’d never felt that way about anyone before, not even close. Love wasn’t even really the drug-rush, it was her, specifically. That’s why he hasn’t felt it again, that’s why he’s scared he never will - it was entirely tied to Elena. If we wanted to analyze the ‘why’ of it all - why her, why would someone so picky just see someone and feel something they’d never felt before - I would probably say that Stefan grew up with a very specific picture of what he wanted in life, and for whatever reason, she looked exactly like what he’d imagined. The dark hair. The soft features. The romantic eyes. I think it also ties into canon a little, too, since in TVD he was immediately drawn to Elena because she looked exactly like Katherine. Immediate, visual enrapture. So yeah, long story short, I don’t see him as a guy who dates around a lot. I see him as a guy who, pre-Elena, thought he knew exactly what he wanted and never really compromised until he (thought) he found it. And now I see him as a guy who realizes that was an incredibly stupid way to think about love but worries it’s the only approach he’s capable of/that’ll make him feel that incredible feeling.

“But I’m scared I will anyways… And you’re scared you won’t.” Oof. Biggest oof.

I like how Stefan says he doesn’t want to sound like a cliché, but he’s a Disney prince. It only makes sense that he would feel that way, you know? It only makes sense that his life would play out that way. Who are this boys’ parents? How did they indoctrinate him? Or, rather, what thing made him this way?

He’s a mess. This is what happens when you’re the lone golden boy in a family of six and everyone indulges your unrealistic bullshit as cute/funny.

Your writing, for this movie montage of their love, is so perfect. Rude. The imagery! The word-choice! The whole thing reminds me of a caramel-candy commercial, where everything is warm and gooey and slow-motion. Clearly I’m not as cultured to compare to a Sundance film lol, but nonetheless, you did an excellent job describing that warm-toned, rose-colored-glasses kind of love.

Wow, I just realized how much Stefan sounds like the stereotypical ‘male author’. Except he has some decency not to describe the weight of her breasts or her aura during sex (eyeroll). Even his “and he was happy to be her anchor to that for the rest of their lives if she needed him to be”. Idr when, but Stefan shakes off some fairytale notion, saying ‘life doesn’t work that way’ or something – that is character development that we didn’t know we needed!

CAN YOU IMAGINE STEFAN DESCRIBING THE WEIGHT OF ELENA’S BREASTS now I need it

Yeah, honestly, I already said it but I’ll say it again - half the battle of writing that scene was giving Stefan just enough Ted Mosby/Male Author vibes to make him realistically flawed but not going too far as to making him someone you’re actively not rooting for anymore. I think you make a great point, though - he’s growing out of it and recognizing the role he played in his relationship failures and I think that’ll hopefully be what sets him apart.

Also, kudos for the Colorado trip call back. I think it’s very telling how invested and how thought out your process is for these characters by how you using some passing details like, Steroline skirting around their Matt and Elena stories, and then actually using them in their ‘origin’ stories… like, again, you didn’t have to, but you! went! there! and you did a phenomenal job, dude. Again, just a testament to how invested you are. Sure, you could say you wrote it out of order or something brush-off-y, but to even consider, oh hey continuity is a thing, is great. We stan an Awesome Writer!

But anytime I see a chance to make a random detail I threw in years ago feel remotely deliberate, I’m all over that shit.

“He felt the barest flicker of defensiveness shoot through him… instead he thought back to the trip”. Hopefully, before I submit this, I would have submitted a list of headcanons I have. One of them is that Stefan’s so well-adjusted via his introspection, that I think one of this parents are a therapist of sorts. I’m just calling it.

oooo, I LIKE that. Largely because Therapist Parents would annoy the everloving hell out of Lexi, lmao - I feel like she’s the prototypical daughter of therapists who goes out of her way to be unpredictable just so her parents can’t psychoanalyze her/figure her out.

I wonder if Stefan still thinks he and Elena could have OTP. Like, he says “or, at least, as much sense as the idea of her and a guy like Liam will ever make to me”. Because if Liam is like canon Liam… she and Liam made total sense (aside from her still being a vampire). Oh but wait… Elena is an artist, not pre-med. Because Elena x Liam made sense in TVD, being pre-med kids, flirty and competitive and ambitious. If she’d never known about the supernatural world, it would make sense for her to be with a Liam, and not a Damon, because Liam is the human version of intense/consuming… Sorry about that canon tangent. Canon, I don’t know her?

Who is she? I think I went to high school with her but we weren’t friends.

What’s SMA Liam like? Or is Stefan’s bitterness getting in the way of seeing, maybe, that Liam did make sense for Elena?

Re: Liam - it’s basically what you said above. Very different from canon Liam. Definitely played more of the canon Damon role re: this cocky, morally ambiguous bad boy that appealed to the darker/superficial/more selfish parts of Elena (that she felt she had to hide from Stefan). I think at the start of the story, there’s still a part of Stefan that thinks Stelena was OTP but the further it goes and the deeper he falls into this thing with Caroline, the more that part disappears. I think it’s really easy to idolize something when you have nothing to compare it to, and even more so when you have no closure so you stay stuck on it and time keeps passing it and making it more and more immortalized. With Caroline in the picture now, though, I think it’s shifting his relationship with Elena into a different, more exposing light and revealing some of the insubstantiality of it all.

Elena’s “it’s was like all those awful parts of me were allowed to exist again” speech is so heartbreaking. I know we’re here to cheer for Stefan, be on his ‘side’, and in no way am I saying cheating is condonable, but it’s another great example of how a writer can make you root for both sides of a broken-up couple. A mentor of mine once told me the sign of a good therapist is for each person in a couple to think you’re on their side. And I’m applying this to writing now. Not, in anyway, can I apply this to Matt (fuck that guy), but I get it for Elena. And it totally makes sense that Stefan was like that, or has a potential to be that way.

This was exactly what I was going for so I’m so happy that’s what your fancy talented therapist brain got out of it.

I love how Caroline’s conversation of ‘you can be this way and the situation was not your fault’. Basically, to say to Stefan ‘you don’t know if you could have loved the real Elena’ and ‘you didn’t deserve what Elena did’ is such a good conversation to have. Because knowing this Soft Boy and knowing how most people feel when their partners cheat, it would make sense for him to blame himself. It seems he does that by the way he holds himself back from doing that to Caroline.

Wow, he even comes to this realization, “he hadn’t been able to reconcile the idea of both of them being a little right”. Don’t I look dumb lol… time to retreat….

NO because as I was writing that dialogue I kept getting it wrong and either making it sound like Caroline was blaming him completely or too much on his side and I was struggle-bussing to strike the exact balance you’re describing so NOT DUMB AT ALL. Exactly what I was flailingly going for.

Caroline’s “Okay, now, you’re just indulging.” Another headcanon, Steroline have made a rule to say, “do you need a moment” for any self-indulgent emotion in a conversation. But they only allow a moment. That’s it. ~feel and let go~

The Knife Speech: yes. Wouldn’t it have been kinda funny if, instead of pretending to stab herself in the stomach, she pretended to stab him, a perfect foreshadowing. Also her “I’d imagine that’s when you’re really fucked, so… best is yet to come for you, Salvatore.” BUT WAIT. Perhaps the knife stabbing of oneself is the imagery of allowing one’s self to be stabbed, to be gutted, to be vulnerable enough to be in love. (Here goes English-teacher Cassandra again, please forgive her, she’s eager and truly a huge fan).

This is a perfect example of you making me sound like a hundred times better of a writer than I actually am because I legitimately do not remember who she pretended to stab in the gut and I also thought you were going to say ‘wouldn’t it have been kinda funny if she actually stabbed him and he died gurgling in shock’ and was ready to enthusiastically agree.

On a different note: “Wouldn’t you like to know.” / He’d very much like to know. How does one create such sexual tension in one small exchange? Big oof again.

Honestly this makes my life because I always feel like I’m SO BAD at getting these mood whiplash lines to pack enough punch. Like they always do in my head when I can see the delivery and the camera shot and whatnot, but when I write it I’m always like ‘eh. I mean. I guess’. TRUST YOURSELVES FRIENDS.

Bonnie getting all defensive and going off about how she doesn’t mind “being the person that someone needs at the end of the day” (serious Stefan vibes, doesn’t he say this at one point also?), and Damon being all, like, heart-eyes and shit, calling her ‘surprising’ and stuff. Good content, yes, yes, please continue.

Ooo, didn’t even make that parallel between Stefan and Bonnie (because I am, in fact, a garbage author) but it’s so cool that you bring that up because on Stefan, that line can easily sound a little self-aggrandizing - it’s coming from (again) a place of privilege, of playing the hero because he’s had this charmed life and it’s the right thing to do, but from Bonnie, it’s almost the exact opposite. She didn’t have that growing up. She was the person without anyone in her corner. So with her, it’s not a hero complex, it’s a victim-turned-survivor motivation. I feel like I’m being really mean to Stefan in these responses lmao I gotta back off, I adore that kid. Just keepin’ it real.

“Maybe I’ve handled enough” in a playfully dramatic way, and yet, Bonnie’s full realization that (the man of her dreams) Damon probably has been through enough, and she knew what that was like. Sad boy hours.

Bonnie avoiding tension by returning to tending to his wound, Damon avoiding tension by returning to his sexy-mysterious-guy vibes. I almost titled this “SMA and the Many, Many Ship Parallels”.

The whole scene that I shall call “I go by daddy, actually” which is just vague enough to make me laugh wildly in this library full of undergrads studying for finals—and because the scene is so ridiculous and hilarious and so, so Bamon, I will die cackling.

I’m brainstorming ways to bring more ‘daddy’ energy into chapter 18.

“Why are you like this?” / “We’re embracing the great outdoors!” Use what he loves against him, honey, you’re doing great.

I love how much lighter Steroline has become. Like Caroline just casually throwing the responsibility of “Go for it” / “Forgive yourself for something” to Stefan is so… unlike her. I feel like she’s the type that shows people up whenever they’re afraid to do something, like tell their waitress this is not what they ordered. Because that’s exactly it. This whole forgiving themselves thing was not what Caroline ordered- just a side of cheesy jokes on Stefan.

GIRL YOU AND ME BOTH, I was so tired of writing their tension oh my Gooooooodsicles. I basically spent sixteen chapters trying to earn the ability to write them this light and this comfortable and this open with each other so I SAW MY CHANCE AND TOOK IT.

“I can’t believe we’re listening to happy4eva dot com.” / “We’re not, we’re listening to me” / “Is that any better?” I agree with Caroline and am fully happy to admit I am in love with Stefan’s sass.

Caroline’s “Here was all she needed to be” realization and acceptance is giving me so much life, I’m teeming with so much love and pride and straight up inspiration, dude, bless.

Caroline’s cathartic sobbing, and Stefan’s, “I think you might be forgiving yourself.” My whole heart is just FULL and maybe I TOO started crying, YOU CANNOT PROVE ANYTHING.

Filed under: scenes I wrote horribly the first few times and still was not convinced I got right by the time I finally posted it so thank God it made someone feel something because ya girl was skressed.

Bonnie going onto the fire escape without coat or shoes, despite hating the cold, just to be there for Caroline, to hug her and be happy for her forgiveness journey is the most Bonnie thing, and I am living for it.

LMFAO no girl I thought the exact same thing, so much so that I went back and edited it into the chapter where Bonnie apologizes to Caroline after her bender. It was totally too late to introduce but I was like ‘I don’t really know what else to put here so we’re gonna pretend this has always been a thing, join me friends in this who cares revisionist approach to writing’.

Steroline being protective of Bonnie’s feelings paralleling with Damon’s protectiveness of Bonnie’s physical wellbeing. It’s just much like, ‘I’m not good at the emotions thing, may I offer you a blanket and some boots instead?” Very in-character of him, this is good, good stuff.

Caroline’s only known Damon for a month?????? This would make sense, a little, but also it feels like so much longer. (this isn’t me side-eyeing the author, she’s busy and doing important things, but also…)

Bonnie’s prompting of Damon, “And?” felt very much like when you’re at the doctor’s office, and they’re listening to your heart, and they’re prompting you to take a deep breath “again” and quiet and waiting. Was this on purpose? Even his “how many do I have to do?” and her “Just one more.” Feels very much like when they’re in the bathroom, and he’s being a literal child under her medical care.

This definitely falls under the ‘not smart enough to have done that on purpose but I love it so let’s go with it’ category.

“Fuck you world, I’m perfect!” inspired by our resident sociopath (who has no regrets, naturally lol). LOVE. It really aligns with Caroline’s “here” realization, and later, Damon’s “okay, noted” response. It’s kinda messy of them, considering they’re clearly not, but the acceptance and willingness to say, fuck you world, I don’t need to conform to whatever, is so nice. So, so good. So much growth. And the title name-drop! And all of them cheering one another on (especially Stefan)!

“…Damon sasses, making Bonnie’s bright laugh even louder, and in that exact moment, with Damon’s hand caught in some kind of Z-snap and Bonnie gasping for air and Stefan’s eyes crinkled from the size of his grin, she felt something shift for her… And looking at the laughing faces surrounding her, their movements arrested in some kind of vibrant slow-motion, the glint of the flurrying snow around them like magic, she couldn’t help but think that it had to be something good.” (okay maybe now I will admit to more crying).

Kai vs the Neighbor and Caroline’s realization of ‘this guy is crazy I like him’. She doesn’t like a cat, but Kai, she’s here for. “That was amazing!” / “Thanks! I still don’t understand you.” love it!

I think I’ve edited this scene (what don’t I edit) since you read it but I think all the parts that stood out to you were ones I mostly kept the same, so that makes me really happy. I had a blast writing it, particularly Kai vs. The Neighbor and everyone just giving in to hedonistic self-acceptance for that one, sparkling minute. It felt needed and I’m so glad it seemed to trigger all the right emotions.

Scrabble, Backstories, THE Kiss

I know this is not what I was supposed to take away from this, but I like Bonnie’s dark moments, lol. Like her joke about her mom not being around. Like, it makes her more real. Like Stefan’s sass makes him more real. No one is just the One Trait that ‘defines’ them, whatever the fuck that means.

I love writing those moments. I talked about this a few paragraphs up, but a big part of why I love writing Bonnie and Damon is exactly those moments - the ones where she can make a joke about her absentee mom and Damon can laugh at the idea of Kai assassinating them. They need that. They need to be able to do that. It doesn’t feel real to me otherwise. It doesn’t feel special, you know? Why are they so drawn to each other if not for precisely that? Their ability to be every part of themselves around each other - the hopeful parts, the selfish parts, the angry parts, the vulnerable parts - is what makes them tick the most, so I’m excited I’ve gotten to the point in their development where they can do that. There’s a scene pretty early in chapter 18 where they have another one of those moments, where Bonnie lets Damon get this sort of ugly/twisted glimpse at her that she’s hiding from everyone else, and she does it with this casualness that I really enjoyed writing. She’s not afraid of judgement. She’s not afraid of what he’s going to think. She knows he gets it, and he does, and it’s simple but I think it means so much more than grand gestures or big sex scenes do for them (but those are fun too lol).

Aw Damon wanting to know more about Bonnie. We see a lot of Bonnie’s curiosity about Mr. Enigma, but he’s embarking on this conversation without really knowing where it’d go or what he wants from it.

That’s a big shift that’s carrying into 18 - Damon’s officially starting to get hooked. It’s been so fun writing him in this shifting context of developing confusing feelings because he’s kind of a disaster about it - especially because Bonnie’s distracted by all the Steroline drama so she’s not even full cognizant of it.

Wow, why am I just noticing this: “He thought about the fire escape, about the things she’d claimed to forgive herself for, and dwelled in the awareness that they’d all been just as performative as his” !!!! excuse me! NOT OKAY. I guess they haven’t had the chance to talk it out like Steroline did, and maybe that’s part of the reason it was more difficult to jump onto the forgiveness train right away.

Yeah, they still have a long way to go. Honestly, I don’t even know if forgiveness really fits what they need. Bamon strikes me more as just needing to accept themselves, and I think being able to accept each other so casually and completely will play a big role in that.

“He wasn’t sure when she’d started taking up actual real estate in his thoughts, but it was kind of a disorienting realization.” !!!

“He used to let himself feel every last lick of it [his anger], blistering and white-hot… it’d bite and fester at the inside of his skin till it wore itself out slowly bled out of his pores” that’s good stuff there, dude, great description.

“That was all before he’d met Katherine, though. Before she’d shown him how to turn it all of instead.” Nice nod to that dumpster fire of canon. Datherine was such an interesting thing that could have been cool. The debauchery, honestly, instead of Damon desiring to be ‘good’ or some shit.

I honestly don’t even remember their canon dynamic and I think it’s probably better that way.

“She’d moved on from the question. He’d had an out. But for some reason, he had this weird, anxious feeling, like an opportunity was flashing past him and he didn’t want to just let it. So he kept going.” We stan character development and growth. You go, baby!

I wonder what it was like for Damon, to re-testify. Was he all shelled-up, the Damon who jokes his way through, who doesn’t give a single fuck about anything, or was he Lily’s scared son, traumatized and hurt, unable to make eye-contact or even lift his head during his testimony?

I think he was forcibly numb to the whole thing until he saw her. Probably being sarcastic under oath, acting like this was a waste of his time, but distinctly edgier than usual. I don’t think he was planning on seeing her and I don’t think he was even supposed to, given the whole witness protection thing, but knowing Lily, she probably dreamed up a way to make sure she was being transported at the exact moment she knew he’d be there, and seeing her and how entirely unchanged, unrepentant, undulled she was after seventeen years, daring to look at him like a project she was coolly proud of, just flipped him out a little.

“She looked protective./ He wasn’t sure anyone had ever looked protective of him before.” AHHHHHHH.

Once you have a Gryffinpuff in your corner there’s no shaking them.

Damon’s “Here” paralleling to Caroline’s “Here”. Two sides of the same coin, though. Caroline’s “here” was liberating and existing meant so much for her, but Damon’s “here” is just existing, not feeling or holding on to anything.

Okay, I will admit this one I did on purpose.

“Kai could probably kill them both if we asked.” Dark!Bonnie, yas queen, slay!

“They didn’t just ‘happen’ / “I did them. I actively ruined those people’s lives.” I know it seems like I’m grasping here, but this just really seems to echo Caroline’s speech to Stefan, that Elena made choices. Bonnie made choices too. Does this mean Elena is just as redeemable as Bonnie is? Stay tuned to probably never find out.

Elena Redemption Arc 2029

Damon: “In fact, it’s [accepting the ‘bad’ parts of her] not going to change you at all—they’re already part of you, they’ve always been part of you. I’m not saying they’re shiny or pretty but honestly, fuck shiny and pretty.” Stefan’s rejection of Elena’s ‘darkness’, Damon’s acceptance of Bonnie’s ‘non-shiny, non-pretty’ elements. I’m just saying dude, conscious or subconscious—your Inner Writer is doing amazing, sweetie, please keep it up forever, thanks.

“Goodness wasn’t default coded into you but having some perfect life that never tempted you to be anything else.” / “To me, that’s a hell of a lot prettier and shinier than someone who never had ugly as an option.” *sings quietly* Tell me how I’m supposed to breathe with no air?

“I’m out of reasons.” It’s so simple, yet so awwwww inducing.

Stefan going into straight up panic mode is so hilarious to me, even though it’s supposed to be more on the serious side lol. Like, I can just imagine Paul Wesley’s scrunched face, pushing away, avoiding any sort of physical interaction—and I’m cackling.

Six on the right, six of the left, rebel freckle.” My heart. Gabi, stoppppp! I didn’t even ship this ship before SMA!

“No banning of the full spectrum of human emotion.” / “Do your worst, Disney prince.” / “Don’t know if you can handle that.”

Another artful sex scene. I know they’re not your Fav to write, but you do a real good job. Especially for these two and this moment of it being Real.

Bless, I just never know how they’re going to come across. So easy for them to feel cheesy. Glad this one didn’t tip too far into that territory.

Caroline’s “No” and Stefan’s “a soundless projection of determination so palpable it bent the air into a word.”

“Her eyes were mosaics, art made out of jagged pieces – chipped trust and cracked pride glued together into something flawed and lovely.” Stefan has ruined every romantic thing for me. Thanks, bud.

He sucks.

Caroline’s ‘shift’ (which I am now just realizing she refers to as ‘a lock snapping undone’; giiiiiiiirl) and Stefan’s “and he felt the knife go straight through his gut.”

I can’t read that metaphor now without thinking about her legit stabbing him like a black widow and just completely 180ing this into a slasher fic.

Bonnie and the Contract

Short scene, yes. Bonnie’s absentmindedness, not just because of Damon, but because she doesn’t have eyes for this lol. It’s so casual how you described it too, “just some clothes, abandoned mugs, scatter of papers”, the usual, ya know, nothing to see here lol. Damon’s attempt to keep her from looking at the contract. Like, he was all mischief and trickery a few days ago, waiting for this very moment, and now, he’s all ‘oh uh you may wanna….’ tongue-tied. Short scene, yes. Great cliff-hanger, absolutely. Awesome way to close off what felt like whole movie worth of content? A million percent yes, sign me up for more!

Writing it def felt like a whole movie’s worth of content lmao so getting to that short, final, zippy cliffhanger scene was glorious. Felt like delivering a placenta. Like I’d already birthed the thankless succubus of a baby and all I needed now was the placenta I barely had to push to get out, you know? This metaphor got lowkey gross but fun fact one of the women whose placenta I delivered in OB wanted to keep it so her and her husband could eat it and I was like coolcoolcoolcoolcoolcool.

Okay, so this is a monster of a review for a masterpiece of a chapter (100+ pages, right?). Coupling happy and silly scenes with these intense confessions was amazing, and your fear of the emotional scenes not clicking is unwarranted! You’re truly a phenomenal writer, and I know I tell you all the time, but you need to hear it always and forever! I was recently telling my sister writing is my actual passion, and by the way in which you write, it seems like it’s, at least, one of your passions too. Like yeah, medicine is gonna be great, you’re gonna be awesome, and maybe I too will be successful as a therapist, but your passion and talent shines through your writing. YOU! ARE! GREAT! TRULY!

I will not apologize for such a long review, like I always do (13 pages babyyy), but I will apologize for basically rewriting the chapter in this review. I tried my best to simplify and summarize, but bro, so! many! good morsels of gorgeous similes and metaphors and descriptions and dialogue, and did I mention I am in love with your characters? your writing? your goddamn brain? Lol.

I try my best to follow canon as best as possible. I do put in my own twists here and there. I have added things into his character have been shared later on through Tweets on Twitter from Jro and Milne. I take their portrayals and incorporate them into my Tarn. For example, Milne said that Tarn was Pharma’s new lover and they had a special relationship and since I’m weak for that pairing I really wanted to incorporate that in. Also Red doesn’t help we both feed into each other ilu <3 ALL IN ALL though, I do like to keep him canon and not too much off character to where he isn’t Tarn anymore. I want him to be Tarn not someone else

I could sell Tarn for hours and a few friends know this very personally. IM SORRY. ANYWAYS. Some may find what I love about Tarn to not what they like but it’s my opinion on him! So here goes.

I love his damaged nature (I’m sorry Tarn muse). I find his addictions interesting, even though they weren’t technically shown in the issues. It’s part of who he is from who he used to be (however they came about). I will always love his flaws and I enjoy showing those sides of him so be aware that I will show his addictive personality (through Transformation, Nuke abuse, and murderous tendencies).

Which brings me to... His murderous/torturous nature. We see killers a dime a dozen in the series but to be a leader of a torturous group? Like that’s pretty rad and completely different from a lot of other characters. Can you tell I like the baddies? sdifhoisdf This brings up this ONE side of him. He doesn’t like killing / taking part in the demises of SOME of their victims. Why? I think I may know the answer to that. Why does a mech like him want to advert his gaze while the others have their way with them. Talk about something deep we never got to understand that.

He has a soft spot for musical pieces, especially classical piano music. I love Chopin the most, so you’ll see me post that all the time!

He apparently loves pineapples and just I LOVE THAT SO MUCH UHG.

He’s a big tank with Daddy (Megatron) Issues! You gotta love it LOL He’s got biolights literally everywhere. FLASHY

When he’s only around his team, he can be a little bit more calm even though he can drop it at the drop of a dime.

He’s a touch starved mech odifhsodif

Even though I kinda sold him on this I thought I should mention it here too. I don’t think people find him interesting for how dark he is as a mech. Push aside everything and look at how purely evil he can be. He’s cruel. He’s torturous and very sadistic. He will thrive off of every little bit of pain you give him. He can be manipulative at times.

Tarn is a huge hypocrite. It shows so much throughout the comic issues if you really look at it. I show it a lot (he will deny it sometimes but don’t worry I know he’s one) Probably one of the biggest hypocrites in the whole 2005 IDW Series.

Tarn is easily-influenced and persuaded by certain situations (to not look weak) and mechs.

He is very easily angered from the smallest things.

He holds onto grudges

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO RP YOUR MUSE?

I know I’ve been asked this before and when I’m asked again I forget the GOOD reasons why I was so inspired to write him so I hope i do okay this time around. Even though I know I will leave out the good shit. Idk why I just dont draft on what truly inspired me. Just watch, itll come a day later and I’ll add it in just wait and see

I started rp’ing him on here as soon as he debuted in the MTMTE series (i think it was back in 2013 or 2012?) I did kind of poof for a few years due to being so busy sdiufhs. Anyways, I fell instantly in love with his character. I loved his dark ways and how he was so drastically different of a villain. His musical tendencies. And how he could offline a mech with ONLY his voice? Like damn sing to me all day you Musical Angel. He is dark and mysterious. NOT TO MENTION, black and purple my favorite colors.

His design was flawless and MTMTE #7 sold me on who he was and from then on I just couldn’t stop loving this murderous tank. I love how Jro and Milne have come out later on to answer more questions about him and just I love him that much more. Looking back years later on it, I see a little bit of myself in him.

WHAT KEEPS YOUR INSPIRATION

He’s pretty easy to flow out honestly. Just like my other muse I have. If he does struggle some, I just pop on some Chopin and he’s good to go. What really does keep me going more than anything is continuously exploring who he is as a mech and as a Decepticon. I want to know so much about him literally everything. Even though I could write headcanons all day and drabbles too, I love making him interact with others to find that personality. It’s really just my never-ending curiosity for him.

This is a hit or miss question. I don’t really want to exactly know why unless if I ask you personally on it (which is usually just between close friends because sometimes I just aint thinkin straight). IF SOMEONE REALLY HATES YOUR CHARACTER, HOW DO YOU TAKE IT?

I honestly don’t care. People won’t like every character out there and that’s just part of being human. I understand why people would hate his character in the series in all honesty. But I love him for all his flaws.

I don’t blame people for hating Tarn but I do not want hate sent to me. That is unacceptable and not okay. You don’t have to like my portrayal but please don’t shove it at me that’s just uncalled for. If your character hates him that’s totally different but don’t come attacking me for any reason.

I think I am. I’m usually fairly quiet. But once you get to know me, I am kinda strong on the goofy/funny side and a bit blunt/straight-forward sdoifhodsf. as for headcanons, i’ve talked about a lot of em before but oh well time to go very deep even though you didn’t ask for this

miranda is either a capricorn or a taurus, andy is a cancer or pisces. miranda’s a lesbian, and andy is bi. andy’s an infp, miranda’s an istj. miranda grew up jewish, andy grew up christian (maybe presbyterian? idk i’m not religious). andy i think would be a democrat and miranda would be a libertarian, but leaning towards left? miranda’s a morning person, andy is a night owl. andy loves fish, miranda hates it.

miranda grew up jewish and her mother was polish, but miranda was raised in england. her father died when she was very young and afterwards she had to take care of her mentally unstable mother. she’s fluent in french, enjoys gardening, can play piano well. she’s a very skilled dancer and cook as well. she reads a lot, mostly morning newspapers and really likes sylvia plath and emily dickinson. she’s a closet romantic and occasionally will do shit straight out of a romance novel-- she’s the one who proposed and she REALLY went all out. miranda listens to a lot of chopin, debussy, edith piaf, peggy lee, etc. an abba and cher fan (obvs). very possessive of aux cord, the coffee ice cream in the freezer, and andy. miranda has several pairs of reading glasses because she’s Extra like that, and sometimes can be found wearing like three at a time. she really loves old movies with audrey hepburn and william holden. she’s very protective of her relationship with andy, and refuses to make public statements about them. she and the girls always read harry potter together before bed. miranda used to smoke, but doesn’t anymore. contrary to a lot of fics, i don’t think miranda would be really insecure about her age-- she might say things occasionally like “god i’m getting old” or “ah, andrea. to be young again, and know a life outside of chronic back pain. what a life you live.” miranda always keeps giving andy outfits and clothes to wear without saying anything at all, and andy just pretends she doesn’t notice that her closet gets bigger and bigger every time she looks through it. despite being happily married for the first time ever, miranda’s still scary, mean, demanding, and treats her employees (and literally everyone else) the same as she always had. she’s not a very touchy-feely person, nor does she shower andy with praise, but if you talk to anyone that knows miranda priestly personally, they will tell you with confidence that she absolutely dotes on andy

andy likes ernest hemingway, virginia woolf, jane austen, f scott fitzgerald, and is constantly telling miranda about the books she reads. she probably gets along better with her dad than her mom. i think she has an older sister and a younger brother. her grandmother is the number one mirandy shipper. andy likes sports, pasta, 90s hip hop, and has the corniest pick-up lines that always make miranda laugh. she’s a very big dog person and miranda always gets mad at her (not really) for overfeeding patricia. she likes to make fun of miranda sometimes, and is constantly @ ing her on twitter. she loves harry potter just as much as the girls do, and lets them watch all the horror movies they want, which miranda gets mad at her for. she loves helping the twins study for school, and is the one handing them their backpacks before they leave, while miranda sharply reminds them to not get into trouble at school (they pull pranks and can be disruptive in class sometimes). she’s very shitty at interior decorating. oh and also andy tops 99% of the time

they make everything, no matter how small or menial, into a fun challenge (like speed shopping or water gun wars). they each have their own side of the bed and never stray from it, even when they’re apart. they’re constantly leaving each other post-it notes around the house- miranda lines her up neatly in rows, andy sticks them all over the place. they always fight over the tv remote and the twins dread movie night subsequently. they share their hobbies & interests with each other, and both are always willing to try new stuff out. miranda cuts out andy’s articles and secretly hoards them so she can read them whenever she wants. she’s very proud of andy and whenever they go to events miranda always introduces her as “my lovely pulitzer-winning wife, andrea.” before andy, miranda would never dance at parties or events, but now they’re dancing nearly all night long. when it’s miranda’s turn to host the met gala, andy is the first person on the guest list, and miranda obvs goes ALL OUT when it comes to planning their looks. they always walk onto the carpet holding hands and people always yell at them to kiss, but miranda has only caved ONCE to the press. after that incident they were trending on twitter for quite a while. andy always gets small gifts for miranda when she goes on trips, and they email each other all the time when they’re apart. andy keeps trying to get miranda to go to pride, but miranda’s stubborn as fuck and always says no. miranda and andy unintentionally end up wearing each other’s clothes around the house-- miranda in sweatpants and tank tops, andy in silk robes. they probably try to go out for drinks with nigel and his husband as often as they can. they don’t hug or kiss much but they do a LOT of hand-holding. miranda hates going to amusement parks but is willing to go because everyone in the family won’t stop bothering her about it (ESPECIALLY ANDY).

when andy and miranda get older, they both retire from their jobs and dedicate most of their time to travelling together. they still make a lot of public appearances for charities, organisations, and events still though. they visit the twins as often as they can, babysit their grandkids (mostly andy because the kids say that “grandma miranda is scary”). every anniversary, they receive millions of messages and happy anniversary wishes from people worldwide. when they’re mentioned in a conversation, everyone agrees that they’re one of the best celebrity couples, and wish that they had a relationship like theirs

Eirika-

Favorite Thing About Them: I really fucking love Eirika’s whole arc, I love that she’s this really kind-hearted and charismatic princess who’s the textbook definition of femininity, but also when she realizes the lives of her friends, family, and all the citizens of Renais, are on the line, she absolutely pushes back and suddenly she’s this fierce and unstoppable warrior princess and it’s fucking amazing. My girl Eirika looked Glenn, one of the mightiest warriors of Grado, in the eye and basically said, “look man, I don’t want to fight you, but if you leave us no choice I’ll send you crying back to your emperor”.

Least Favorite Thing About Them: Fandom interpretation of her and basically how IntSys actively tries to erase her role as a protagonist of the game.

Favorite Line:

“I… We, the people of Renais, have long honored our allegiance with the Grado Empire. And you invaded without warning. You ravaged our land. You killed my father… Even then, I told myself, I must not hate Grado or her people. If I gave in to my hate, the bond between our lands would be lost forever. I refused to hate. brOTP: Eirika&Tana! I never really liked them as a romantic pairing but I do love the friendship they have and how much they care about each other. I also 100% believe they would wingman for each other while looking for GFs

OTP: Self and crack shipping aside, I got two- Eirika x L’arachel is basically canon and also like, the best dynamic Eirika has in SS. Their A support is basically a marriage proposal and then there’s the scene in Rausten where in Eirika’s at her lowest point in the story and it’s L’arachel who’s there to pick her up. They’re really sweet, and really gay.

The other pairing would be Eirika and Lyon. They have an adorable dynamic and idc what anyone says, Eirika definitely returned his feelings, Lyon just never had the self-esteem to spit it out. I definitely live for fics/content of them where Lyon can assert himself a bit.

nOTP: Literally everyone of her male supports. They range from gross to sexist to really boring. The only guy on that list that’s good is Forde and that support is like, entirely platonic imo.

Random Headcanon: Eirika definitely gives off like, Alpha WLW vibes and has girls swooning over her across MagVel and none of it is intentional on her part/she doesn’t realize it’s happening.

Unpopular Opinion: She is absolutely a better written and more interesting protagonist than Ephraim.

Song I associate with them: Aside from a track within her own game, I don’t think I ever really had an ‘Eirika’ song? If I dig through what I’ve been listening to lately though I could sorta slap this one on her

Fractured Milla (’cause she needs more love)-

Favorite Thing About Them: I liked her difference in personality compared to regular Milla, I liked how she was a lot more outspoken aggressive. Xillia 2 definitely felt like it picked up a lot more once she joined the party.

Least Favorite Thing About Them: I was really disappointed with how early she left the party and the fact that she didn’t have any mystic artes : /

Really she just felt very underutilized

Favorite Line: ”I knew I wouldn’t like you”

brOTP: F.Milla&Elle! Their relationship is so good and wholesome in ToX2 and oH MY GOD IT BREAKS MY HEART SO MUCH, PLEASE PLAY XILLIA 2

OTP: F.Milla/Ludger- I mean, they were kinda written for each other, but still, the moments they share are really good, Milla wants to trust and like him but can’t let go of her grudge but they’re still brought together by wanting to protect Elle at all costs.

nOTP: F.Milla/Jude- Jude’s got his own Milla, and that’s really all there is to say on the matter lol

Random Headcanon: She absolutely hates the outfits Prime Milla wears and doesn’t care how many times she’s told Elle and Ludger that day about it

Unpopular Opinion: Idk if I really have any on this character, but I think she was the more interesting Milla tbh

Favorite thing about them: her smile Her designs are always really fucking cool and absolutely gorgeous. And then personality wise I love that she’s just like- if Asuka Langley Soryu/Rin Tohsaka was a YorHa android

Least Favorite thing about them: I was gonna make a joke about how there’s nothing I could say here but then I thought about it and realized the reason there’s not much I can say is because she hasn’t been featured in a whole lot of story, but that’s more a weakness of GFL than her character. For as well written as the characters and the story are here, no dolls really get enough focus outside of AntiRain/404/DEFY

Favorite Line: ”I, of all people, am giving you my gratitude. So you better accept it from the bottom of your heart. “

brOTP: WA2000&Springfield- I feel like Springfield is just trying to be a good wingman for Wa2k and it’s really cute and nice

OTP: Since I’m banned from self-shipping here, I’ll go with the equally self-satisfying answer and say Wa2k/M16 where M16 comes in and sweeps her off her feet and Wa2k can’t handle it in the slightest.

I also feel like there’s a decent case for Wa2k/Jill, where Wa2k saved Jill and when Jill tries to give thanks, Wa2k gets really flustered and tries to play it off like it was no big deal

nOTP: I don’t think I have one? I haven’t really seen a bad Wa2k ship

Random Headcanon: Wa2k is the subbiest sub/biggest gay disaster to ever be created in an IOP lab. When asked why anyone would make a helplessly gay combat android, Persica simply laughed before promptly removing the press from her office.

Unpopular Opinion: Apparently this is unpopular in some circles but I really do think that Wa2k is the beginner friendly SSR in the game and can work well in literally any team comp.

Oh, Lord.

Okay, let’s do this thing:

1. Who likes to sit in the other’s lap?

Paul, definitely.

He really enjoys the first few times he does it to Daryl when Daryl looks up at him like he can’t quite figure out how Paul got there from A to B but isn’t about to question it.

The first time he sits in Aaron’s lap, it’s almost alarming how red he turns. He…probably should have given him some warning, given the small, “Oh!” that came out of Aaron but the blush never really goes away, no matter how many times he does it.

2. On a cold day, who likes to snuggle up to the other?

SNUGGLE PILE.

No, really, these three snuggle all the time and I have many feelings on the subject.

Daryl is an actual touch-starved person. Like he puts on that it’s this big ridiculous thing that he’s only reluctantly apart of? No, that boy is the epitome of five-more-minutes and must-be-touching-most-of-your-person while cuddling.

Meanwhile, Paul is a firm outside-position-cuddler. This is partially because he doesn’t always tie his hair back in bed and there have been “incidents”…Mostly involving one of them eating or being tickled by his hair, but also one very special occasion where a hand got tangled. (Also, big spoon/Jetpacking!Paul is a wonderful thing.)

Then there’s Aaron, who is by far the best cuddler among them. He’s like a giant teddy bear,the easiest person in the world to receive/give physical affection from merely because he is so warm and concerned with how comfortable you are.

3. Who cooks the food and who does the dishes?

Daryl mostly cooks with Aaron occasionally taking a turn. Paul’s on dish duty.

4. How would they describe each other to loved ones who haven’t met their partner yet?

Paul (about Aaron/Daryl): Aaron’s the most considerate man I’ve ever been with. I mean, he’s gone through a lot but he’s really and truly one of the strongest and most gentle people I know. He deserves to be happy and I think…I think we do that for him. We try. Daryl is a little more complicated. He can seem pretty tough, like he doesn’t need anyone or anything, but it’s not true. He just…loves intensely and knows what it’s like to be the one left standing. That kind of love, it’s harder to understand, but once you do? You’re not gonna let it go. I won’t.

Aaron (about Daryl/Paul): Daryl’s a little rough around the edges but he’s also the most loyal man I know.He’s got good instincts about people and when he lets them in…they’re his. He’d die for his people in a heartbeat. You just hang on and accept it…and, if you’re Paul and I, you make him yours too. Paul has that kind of energy, you know. Peaceful. Mischievous. You talk to him for a few minutes and it’s the most comfortable you’ll ever feel around someone. He’s got a lot more going on though. It’s never difficult but you can see him making every effort to make it easy. It took a long time for him to feel comfortable enough to let things go and accept we were here for the long haul.

Daryl (about Paul/Aaron): They’re both fucking ridiculous, man. One day, after we’d gone on some scoutin’ mission north of Hilltop, Paul gives some idiot line about how, if one of us don’t come back, ain’ none of us comin’ back ‘cause we’re all ‘Ride or Die and Too Dumb to Fly’ and he and Aaron start laughing their asses off. S’pose that’s more Paul, he’s been a little shit from day one, but it was the first time I’d see Aaron really laugh since he lost Eric. Think that’s when I knew, lookin’ at the two of ‘em.

IDK where that Daryl one went, don’t mind me.

5. Who is more likely to kiss their partner on their forehead?

Aaron. He’s easily the most expressive between the three when it comes to kissing in public and it’s always small, sweet gestures like a forehead/nose kisses. However, though you definitely didn’t ask, Paul is a blatant cheek kisser – greetings, good mornings, “you look adorable” moments? You get a patented Paul Rovia cheek kiss and it is the sweetestthing.

6. Who makes a scrapbook of all their memories to give to their partner for a special event? Ex- anniversary, birthday, etc.

Aaron. Taking pictures is a thing with Aaron and, while he doesn’t take pictures of everything, you better believe he’s got a scrapbook already handy of the best part of his life with Paul/Daryl.

7. Where would they go to get away from everyone else and just be alone?

SCOUTING MISSIONS FTW!

8. Who would want to take cute pictures for Instagram?

Aaron, hands down.

9. Who would most likely call their partner, dude, babe and idiot, all in the same sentence?

I can’t see Daryl saying dude. Between Aaron and Paul, I lean towards Paul.

10. How do they let their loved ones know they are dating?

This one is harder for me to say because I don’t really have a headcanon for who hooks up first, Aaron and Daryl or Aaron and Paul or Daryl and Paul. But I guess one couple is already a couple in my mind and everyone is aware - if only by simple observation - that they are a couple before they propose a poly relationship with whomever that person is. At that point, maybe they explain themselves? For convenience sake?

IDK, or maybe they just decide not to give a fuck what anyone else thinks.

11. Who breaks out in a dance when they hear their favorite song and who joins their partner dancing no matter what they are currently doing?

If Paul is being a particularly light-hearted idiot and starts dancing out of the blue, Aaron is the easiest to convince to join. He’s kind of horrible at it - has all the dad moves that scream awkward white guy - but his eyes brighten and he throws himself into it without shame. Daryl, on the other hand, does not immediately jump in. However, leaving him on the sidelines is not an option that either Aaron or Paul like, so one or both if them will come over and grab his hand. He bitches and moans the whole way but eventually goes along with it because they’re happy and that’s reason enough.

12. If they each went to go buy an outfit for one another, what would they get?

I take your “boyfriends buy my outfit” challenge and raise you Aaron, Daryl, and Paul buying each other ugly Christmas sweaters. Like, the worst things imaginable. Paul’s has a picture of Jesus in a party hat, holding a candy cane with the words BIRTHDAY BOY written above him. Daryl has one with a stuffed, mounted deer head, a wreath around it’s neck and ornaments hanging from its antlers. Aaron’s, probably the best of them all, has a pair of well-proportioned ornaments with the words JINGLE BALLS written in glitter. (It also lights up.)

Up to you who gave which to whom.

13. Who still blushes when their partner compliments them?

Aaron, more than anyone. Not deep blushes but frequent pinks cheeks for him.

14. What memories do they share together that will stay with them forever?

Two men alone in a car with the smell of cigarette smoke and rotting corpses beating their hands on the outside, eyes locked in agreement as they decide together; sitting on the stairs, looking down at the familiar face behind a gun, and smiling; a man in quiet admiration in an open field as another man gives a well-placed kick that takes down three walkers, a grin present on the man’s face as he teases him; one man, on his knees with grief on an empty grave as another man sits next to him and pulls him close; two men across from him, both sounding certain and optimistic as resounding hope makes his stomach do somersaults; three men in bed with their limbs tangled, half asleep, still muttering drowsy I love yous and leaving kisses wherever their mouths land

15. Who would dedicate a song to their partner at a karaoke night? Bonus - what song would it be and why?

I’ve mentioned this before, but karaoke night is alllllll Paul (and possible Daryl if he gets drunk enough). I can just see them doing a duet of Hurts So Good by John Mellencamp and dedicating it to a very red and sober Aaron. (Sidenote, why is it always 80s music and Aaron?)

nicknames: i meeeean, technically kitty is a nickname, since it’s a diminutive of my saint’s name (catherine), but i’ve been going by it since my confirmation over a decade ago, so, it’s more weird when people call me my birth name. but yes, okay, fine, kitty, but, really, more and more over the past few years, i’ve been going by kit. a lot of family calls me kay, and occasionally my mum still calls me kayzee.

zodiac sign: gemini-cancer cusp, and i do find that i have a lot of cancer traits, even though i’m born on the first day of the cusp and closer to the gemini side.

height: ummmm. 5′7? ish? idk, that’s what i always say, but i might be off.

time: 11:54pm

favorite band: listen, this is a way more difficult question than it should be because i have been primarily listening to music from my childhood and adolescent years for the past... like, year, or more, with added musical soundtracks and semi-recent country. but, i guess, deep down, the answer to this is still green day, even though for a few years there recently it was obviously 5 seconds of summer.

do I get asks: not often. every once in a while, a friend will drop me a line, usually on the rp blog with something that reminded them of a char or plot or game, or sometimes someone will be so kind as to reply to a questions i’ve stuck in a tag on a post. stuff like that.

how did I choose my url: i mean, tbf, my url has changed many, many times, but this one has stuck around for... i don’t even know how long. a few years now, i think? anyway, i was in a not-great place, and i wanted something that alluded to that. it’s from st. jimmy, by green day, bc the american idiot album was hugely formative for me, and will always be one of my main go-tos when i’m not doing well. the full line is: i’m the patron saint of the denial, with an angel face and a taste for suicidal.

how many blogs am I following: 391, though i’m sure a lot of them are inactive

average amount of sleep: i don’t know, man. never Enough, that’s the average. i guess if i had to put it to a range, it’d be 3-6 hours a day? but sometimes less, and sometimes more, and often i spend a lot longer than that laying in bed trying to fall the fuck asleep.

what am I wearing: errrrr. listen, i just got home from work and promptly derobed bc i forgot this question was on here, so, my bra, socks, and underwear, and a pair of blue booty shorts. plus my glasses and a necklace with my crucifix and pentacle charms on it.

dream job: i don’t know anymore, and i’ve been having a months-long crisis over it, don’t talk to me about this right now. all i know is that it’s please god anything besides what i’m doing right now/not customer service. i mean, i’ll always keep coming back to the social work and legal industries when i think on it for long enough, but i just don’t know what i want to do in that area anymore.

dream trip: ohh, this one is tough, since i’ve already done paris with a very dear friend. ireland, i suppose? or new york, maybe. i dunno. or maybe just home, but without 50000 obligations to meet while i’m there.

favorite food: i don’t really have one, there are too many top contenders: lasagne; fresh, pan-fried haddock with lemon juice squeezed on top; a donair with no veggies; chocolate, in most varieties; penne and chicken in rosé sauce; my parents’ chicken noodle soup and corn chowder...

what instruments do you play: none, anymore, but i used to know how to play the flute and the recorder pretty well, and i had started to learn guitar.

eye color: blue, but sometimes a little blue-green

hair color: right now? dark blue (indigo, according to the box).

languages: english and french, like a good little quarter-french canadian

most iconic song: what does that even mean? “most iconic”? not most formative, or favourite, or that song you always jam to. like... i dunno, man. a song that i’d lose my shit over hearing? in that case: barrett’s privateers, i guess. one of my life dreams is to sing it with the other people in a crowded pub in downtown halifax.

¬ romance headcanons.

name : Horia nickname : the last time this question came up I went for Lightning Boi and I seriously can’t think of anything funnier gender : male ♂ romantic orientation : ¿ nobody knows ? preferred pet names : to be honest, pet names aren’t really his thing. If there’s any shortened version of the person’s name, he’d prefer to go for that. relationship status : single and technically not allowed to mingle. favorite canon ship : now, I know I haven’t talked about this character’s origins at all, but I’ve actually had this muse for, like...at least 3 years. In the original story that he was a part of, there used to be this dryad/forest nymph character played by a good friend of mine, and she had crazy chemistry with Horia...so they pretty much became our OTP. She was this playful, kinda mysterious girl with little antlers on her head that pranced around his forests barefooted...and yeah, long story short, what we plotted was basically about how he ends up falling for her super hard, and once he realises that, he immediately tries to cut off contact (because losing his power is probably his greatest fear). A lot of angst ensues, as expected. Eheheh- favorite non-canon ship : ahh, I’ve got a few cute little ships in my head, but not really a favourite...? I guess we’ll see... opinion on true love : he does believe in true love, but probably not in the way most people see it. It’s more of a platonic type of love, specifically of the parent-child/mentor-mentee kind. The thing is, he truly cares about his master, and would seriously be willing to give his life for him. That’s about the only love he knows, but their bond is strong enough for him to have no doubts about it being ‘true’. opinion on love at first sight : not a thing. I mean, his first reaction upon seeing anyone new is mostly just ‘get outta my forest’, so...no chance, lol. how ‘romantic’ are they? : surprisingly enough, I could definitely see him being quite romantic. Like, he’s bad at expressing his emotions verbally, but he’d be pretty great at showing affection through his actions. Stuff like him revealing his protective & attentive side, sharing food that he would normally want to keep for himself, going out of his way to make someone their very-own-personal-herb-mix for some kind of special tea...basically a lot of generosity. His insensitive brashness becomes a lot more toned down, though he can get pretty possessive, too... ideal physical traits : he doesn’t really think about this kinda stuff, tbh. If he likes someone, he just does, though he might have a thing for super long hair with a lot of healthy shine. Oh, and big, expressive eyes, no matter which colour. ideal personality traits : honesty, spontaneity, humour, playfulness...and maybe a dash of daredevil tendencies. He also tends to be fascinated by those who can leave him wondering, mostly because he catches himself thinking about them more often. unattractive physical traits: aside from things everyone dislikes such as uncleanliness/bad hygiene, I’d say that he’d be put off by people taller than himself. It makes him feel weird - being over 180cm, he’s kinda used to always being the one gazing down. ideal date : something like going out during late spring to pick raspberries and stuff...laying in the soft grass on a mountain slope, forests at his back and a great valley stretching out before him. The view, the breeze, the gentle warmth of a setting sun...he could spend the whole night just stargazing. do they have a type? : one thing I noticed is that romantically, he pairs well with the ‘cute’ and sort of light-hearted types; not as much with the super serious or authoritative people, though. average relationship length : idk man preferred non-sexual intimacy : he’d be such a cuddler, omg. What do you expect from someone as touch-starved as a recluse? He only thinks he doesn’t need that stuff because he’s never experienced any of it, but to lay down with someone and just nap would feel like heaven. Watch him lose his cool when someone starts getting real close... commitment level : once he’s invested, it’s 100%...but it’s really hard to get past the stage where he freaks out about catching feelings and his attitude does a total one-eighty. It’s like going from hot to cold in the blink of an eye, and he’s got a lot of spiritual and emotional issues to deal with before he can open up again. opinion on public affection : cute! But nothing raunchy, and it’s only nice when he’s involved, lol. Strangers being all over each other would make him roll his eyes.

2017 fic writing round up

Found this survey on dreamwidth and I wanted to fill it out. :3 It’s basically my thoughts on the fics I’ve written throughout 2017. It’s long so I post it under a cut. <3 Please feel free to fill it out if you’re interested! I’d love to hear your own thoughts! Blank survey can be found here

Total year-long word count: Ummm probably around 40k. I don’t write many long things. That’s only counting finished fics tho. Idk how many words i’ve got of WIP haha.

Word count by fandom: Dude it’s all Yuri on ice lol. everything is Yuri on Ice. Fics completed: Probably about...18-20 I wanna say? 13 or 14 of them are on AO3, and then the rest are posted on my tumblr.

Works-in-progress: We do not talk about that lol. I’ve got too many.

This year I wrote and posted: a lot more than I thought I would.

Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted? A lot more. I’ve always enjoyed writing but I always struggled to post what I wrote because I wasn’t very confident. I always felt like my ideas were dumb and overused, so I never wrote fic for my old fandom which was much larger bc someone probably already did my similar ideas but 10000x better. When I got into Yuri on Ice, all of my ships were rare so I had no choice but to write and post my own.

What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January? Milabek!!

What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest? Hmmmmm idk. To be honest, all of my fics make me very happy. Not because they are good, bc they aren’t really, they’re just self-indulgent shit I write to make myself feel better, but each of my fics comes from a very personal place. Writing is how I cope with events in my life, esp past trauma, and writing the kinds of fic I write is just a very soothing process for me? Idk, it’s weird lol.

Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? My biggest risk was actually writing and posting stuff. I’m so happy people seem to enjoy my stuff, esp because I don’t have any confidence in it.

Your best story of this year: uhhh idk.

Your most popular story of this year: Sharks! It’s a yuriyuu story where Yuri is transgender and comes out to Yuuri, although it didn’t go as planned. (Don’t worry, it’s a happy ending and there’s no transphobia in it!)

Story of yours most under-appreciated by the universe, in your opinion: Pretty Boy. It’s a vikturio story which also features trans Yuri. Basically Yuri misses wearing girly things, like skirts and lingerie and lipstick, but he gave up those things so people would take him seriously as a guy. But like, Viktor doesn’t want to see Yuri deprive himself of things that make him happy for the sake of social expectation, so he introduces Yuri to the concept of crossdressing lol. I mean I can understand why it’s not very popular, considering trans male crossdressing is a huuuuuge taboo and a no-no for most ppl, but it’s a topic I hold very dear to my heart for personal reasons and I wish more people would give it a chance lol. In case anyone has sex triggers tho, there’s 2 scenes with extremely mild non-explicit sex. Like you can tell they had sex but I wrote none of it lol. It’s very fade to black. I have a severe sex trigger so I’m warning in case anyone else is sensitive to sex.

Most fun story to write: Birds of Paradise! Definitely Birds of Paradise hands down. It’s a silly little story where Georgi finds out Yuri has a massive crush on Yuuri and gives him shitty unsolicited love advice.

Story with the single sexiest moment: Definitely the bloodplay scenes in Red. That is all I will say about that lol. Though I also found the scenes in Pretty Boy where Viktor makes Yuri stand in the corner so he can admire how pretty and gorgeous he looks to be really sexy. Yeah uh, i’ll just see myself out lol.

Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story: I don’t consider it wrong because it was consensual kink that people actually engage in, but for people who are unfamiliar with sadomasochism, I think Red might get this reaction from people. It’s a sadomasochistic knifeplay yuriyuu fic I wrote which also features bloodplay. I also pretty much only write fluff or hurt/comfort, so I guess me writing a sexless hardcore kink fic is a bit shocking lol. The aftercare scenes are extremely fluffy tho! :D

Story that shifted your own perceptions of the characters: Hard to say since I usually don’t write a fic unless i’m deep into that particular headcanon lol. I guess Birds of Paradise because I didn’t realize how much I loved Georgi being a supportive idiot until I actually wrote it lol.

Hardest story to write: Not one I’ve published. Hardest story i’ve starting writing is this very personal fic that is very similar to the trauma I went through in my childhood. I don’t know if i’ll ever finish it, I doubt I’ll ever publish it, but I feel it’s a story I need to write. I don’t even want to say which ship it is because even that feels like revealing too much.

Biggest disappointment: Nothing really. I post my fic with zero expectations that anyone will read or enjoy it lol.

Biggest surprise: Sharks got translated into Portuguese!!!

Most unintentionally telling story: I’m sorry I don’t understand this question lol.

Favorite opening line(s): “Sometimes for Yuri, life is loud. Sometimes it’s nothing more than a cacophony of dirty memories etched into his skin, violent thoughts on infinite repeat, adrenaline that turns into outward aggression at every person, intentions be damned. Sometimes, most of the time, that’s all he feels life is.” (from Reprieve)

Favorite closing line(s): Listen, I went through all of my fics on AO3 searching for my fave closing line and my fave closing line is also from Reprieve lol. “Safety is not a luxury Yuri could afford. Safety is conditional, safety is a reward. Perform well enough and you can escape the looming danger for a little bit. But in Yuuri, Yuri finds reprieve. And for that, he’s thankful.”

Favorite 5 line(s) from anywhere:

“Grab a spoon and help me finish the ice cream before it turns into soup. I don’t care what anyone says, it’s good and healthy to eat your feelings worth in ice cream.” (from Heroes)

“You're a masochist, you like pain. Pretend this is a scene or something.” (From Red. And yes I know that quote makes no sense out of context, but the context is that Yuuri is cleaning Yuri’s wounds from their scene and Yuri is bitching that the anti-septic stings lol)
