Real story, a couple of years ago my mother was listening to Borodin’s “Polovtsian Dances” and I heard it for the first time and told her that its melody reminded me of Anatolian Turkish folk songs. And lo and behold, “Polovtsian” meant Kipchaks and Cumans who are Turkic people. So there is clearly a continuation between Turkic folkloric melodies.

I am not trying to make an ideological point, I find this genuinely culturally fascinating.

the pathologic Kin is largely fictionalized with a created language that takes from multiple sources to be its own, a cosmogony & spirituality that does not correlate to the faiths (mostly Tengrist & Buddhist) practiced by the peoples it takes inspirations from, has customs, mores and roles invented for the purposes of the game, and even just a style of dress that does not resemble any of these peoples', but it is fascinating looking into specifically to me the sigils and see where they come from... watch this:

P2 Layers glyphs take from the mongolian script:

while the in-game words for Blood, Bones and Nerves are mongolian directly, it is interesting to note that their glyphs do not have a phonetic affiliation to the words (ex. the "Yas" layer of Bones having for glyph the equivalent of the letter F, the "Medrel" layer of Nerves having a glyph the equivalent of the letter È,...)

the leatherworks on the Kayura models', with their uses of angles and extending lines, remind me of the Phags Pa Script (used for Tibetan, Mongolian, Chineses, Uyghur language, and others)

some of the sigils also look either in part or fully inspired by Phags Pa script letters...

some look closer to the mongolian or vagindra (buryat) script

looking at the Herb Brides & their concept art, we can see bodypainting that looks like vertical buryat or mongolian script (oh hi (crossed out: Mark) Phags Pa script):

Buddhism has its own complete cosmogony & beliefs which from the little I know Vastly Differ from anything the Kin believes #like. yeah. story. but also. recently i have been seeing people posting videos of traditional uyghur/kazakh/kyrgyz music and dances but then the caption will say “traditional music of chinese province xinjiang” and i just think it’s so dark sided like if you’re going to celebrate the culture of these people you HAVE to say what their ethnicity is, because they are NOT chinese and so much of uyghur culture and language especially is being erased right now.

the expression I could eat a horse never rings as true as it does in Kazakhstan:D

Our national dish(or at least the traditional version of it) beshparamaq is literally horse meat with bread(not the bread you think) and some onions.

It looks like this:

It is really delicious. Of course it depends on how you cooked and the quality of meat, but when it hits it SLAPS.

You usually eat it with hands. Also sometimes it is served with a head of the animal, and the head of the hose gives different parts of it to those who need it the most. Like eyes for someone who sees bad, or ears for someone who is losing their hearing.(or brains for you/j)

#obviously it is not only kazakh national meal #it is shared across the turkic cultures #but there are some variations #also there is some other stuff where horse meat is used #also!!! in western Kazakhstan where Caspian sea is located beshparmaq is sometimes served with fish #because why not #there is also the fact that most of the time people use beef or mutton for the meat #kazakhstan #kazakh #kazakh culture
