au where instead of John playing cripple from the start of his time at Wellston, he claims his ability is limited to copying the Speed trait of other abilities, and plays at being like a 3.5. Just barelyyyyy an elite, and high up enough to garner respect from most of the school population.

Just speed alone would be nice bc ppl would know that it’s hard to catch him when he runs + he could power up without hurting anyone. It would allow him to disinvolve himself from handing out physical punishment, bc it’s not a “good” ability at all.

Plus, since he hangs with Sera (and it does seem like he can copy her ability), he could copy her Speed without her needing to always personally step in. Ppl wouldn’t be so quick to mess with them once Sera got disabled + John could pick her up and run away (and later teach her to fight)

Still in line with his thoughts on him being unqualified to be a vigilante + trusting that the authorities or Someone out there is doing their best and taking care of everyone

Ice Bath

holdlo. 451 words. please note it is NOT implied rem/lo, for clarification.

Normal guys don’t go to Wellston Private High. That’s the rule of nature. Normal guys don’t go to one of the most prestigious high schools in the country without some kind of innate talent, but Holden is significantly More Normal than the rest of the school. He stays comfortably at a high position; not high enough to be a subject of gossip through the rumor mill, but enough that if he stares at someone for long enough, they’ll move out of his way or nervously say hi to him.

His best friend is his forever King of the school. His best friend is pulling away from him, more and more, with each passing day. He’s said his best friend’s name less this week than he has passed him in the hallway. 

Holden sees his best friend in class, ghosts under his eyes, beneath his hands when he writes. Arlo fidgets uncomfortably with the dog tag necklace he keeps under his button-up when he thinks no one is looking. Holden thinks that one day, soon, Arlo will blink without opening his eyes ever again. Thinks that soon, he’ll have to submerge himself in the tub and make himself an ice bath for the Authorities. 

Guys like Arlo are sufficiently Not Normal. Arlo couldn’t kill a man, but could maim someone without blinking an eye in the past. But, he frowns at overblown, unnecessary displays of cruelty now, picking it out of his nails with a pencil instead of digging into it, blood and teeth and all. Holden likes the less cruel Arlo, who's softer with his words and hands, but misses the boy who cracked down on chaos with smooth fists. And he's seen the way Arlo looks at Remi nowadays, the distance between them only multiplying with each rotation around the sun.

But, in those rare moments that they spend together, Arlo looks almost the same as before. The smallest, briefest of smiles on his face from minutes of talking to each other, the kind only a best friend could get.

The smiles get smaller, the frowns get larger, and Holden imagines Arlo's hands dripping black, blood as dark as the Bureau itself. It must be, because why else would ghosts rest on his body with no other footrest? Why else would he flinch when his phone buzzes, looking at the screen like he wants it to crack?

(One day, he gets Arlo coffee, and Arlo looks like he might cry.)

Then, he looks at Arlo. And Arlo looks back at him, through him, like he's a mirage in the snow. Never here.

The ice he makes only grows in the spaces between them. Holden doesn't know how to break it.

Ight so. This au is about all hell breaking lose after Winston/The Adware revealed himself for the second time. They've summoned little Adware minions to hunt down their victims, and everything just goes to absolute shit.

But there are some heroes who can end this madness. That's the meme guardians, Mari, Tari, Bob, Belle, Shroomy and Whimpu, with Whimpu coming along because he's had enough of being all weak and wimpy, so he decided that he needed some training to get stronger.

But that raises the important question.

Will these heroes (some being unexpected) manage to defeat Winston/The Adware and save the world?

Or will they end up losing against them in the worst way possible?

We will find out...

So this came to me yesterday night, wings and people.

So I looked at UnO and was like, what if?

So here’s my three ideas of John (my version with long hair) with wings. The first one is a crow/raven (haven’t decided), the other is a bat, and the last is a dragon.

I already have plenty of ideas to work with this au and some cultures behind it. Stay tuned.

I’ve been wanting to write an Isekai fic for a longggg time now, but figuring out the fandoms has been hard. I’ve scrapped plenty of ideas. But now, I think I want to do a RWBY X unOrdinary fic.

I want to do a fic where Yang falls into the unO world at the end of V8 when she falls off the bridge and into the void. And she appears in the unO world just before the Safe House trip arc. John would still have his powers and Spectre (Orrin) is leveraging Sera’s.

Yang would be perfect because she’s had a bit of a history with anger and recklessness. Even though their situations are different, there are some similarities she shares with John. And with Sera - abandonment issues lmao Yang has accepted things with Blake, but Raven is a whole other story. Sera’s relationship with Leilah isn’t perfect yet. They have to work together, but there are so many layers of messed up between what lead them to the situation they’re in rn that they’re both ignoring in face of the bigger picture. Sera still has unresolved resentment towards Leilah.

There’s so much potential for angst aaaahhh I’ve got to do it

one of my favorite parts of the speedy John au is the coincidence of him getting on well w sera, who’s ability allows her to be insanely fast. I imagine that when copying her ability, he’d use the time stop to a limited degree but not the recovery aspect since that’d be supposedly outside his wheelhouse

it also makes him theoretically powerless against Arlo which makes it great for Not being King, bc he’d have no reason or way to challenge Arlo w/o revealing himself fully even if he wanted to. But that still ofc doesn’t get Arlo off his back bc Sera is the prime example of why being a speedster can allow you to hit hard

It’d force variety from canon bc John loves copying Blyke’s ability (which makes sense it affords massive power with a healing passive) but probably would avoid copying Blyke for the most part as the mobility applications of Blyke’s ability source from his beams, which might end w John hurting someone (which he is desperately terrified of still)

I imagine John favoring Isen’s ability in this AU since most of its effects aren’t visual unless the user wills it to be so, which means John can access the full range of Hunter without making a big show of it. No clue how or why he’d end up in the same room as Isen though????

I do think in this au he moves into the dorms when he arrives at Wellston bc he knows he can protect himself
