Listen homestuck is actually very good as long as you don't have the expectations if fandom tumblr clouding your judgement, it's an extremely stupid satire of teenage online behaviour in the 2010s delivered via an extremely stupid and complicated story made up of utterly random decisions chosen to fuel character conflict and shenanigans rather than be anything approaching a consistent story, my friend has been telling me all the lore about Minecraft streamers recently and I couldn't help but compare it to Homestuck because it's so absurdly similar in how convoluted and hard to follow it is, because it is a bunch of people playing a video game together and creating the "plot" through their interactions and what they want to do in the game. There are so many different perspectives to follow and each one will show you a different piece of the overarching story while also being a story in itself. Homestuck is absurdly similar, despite being a webcomic written by one person. Obviously with Homestuck it's hard to follow just one character's perspective and certain things are skipped over if nothing important is happening, but ultimately it's still just a bunch of teenagers playing a video game together with all of the chaos that involves. It still astounds me how well written the character interactions are, they're full of dumb bullshit and stupid jokes but also genuine conversations about identity and family and love and friendship and all the things that come along with that. All the things people talk about Homestuck being are in there, but if you go into it expecting it to start off that way or to not read thousands of pages of stupid jokes as well as that, you'll be disappointed.

I think conviction is the most appropriate, for me at least
At least the definition of the word that means a strongly held beliefs

“How could you” well, it’s quite simple:
1. Start with a somewhat dry welcome-to-my-TED-talk style post about a relatively abstruse topic that’s likely to be of interest to Tumblr users in your blog’s immediate circle of followers.
2. Spend the next several paragraphs constructing what seems to be an argument toward some unspecified conclusion. This conclusion should be vaguely alluded to, but – and this is critical – not directly stated in the post’s opening sentences.
3. At the last possible moment, swerve into a meme, or a shitty pun, or a Homestuck reference, or what have you, then immediately end the post. The closer to end of the post’s final sentence the swerve is, the more effective it will be.
4. Now, here’s the tricky part: once the reader hits the swerve, it must become apparent in hindsight that all that elaborate rhetorical framing you just did was not driving toward a particular conclusion regarding the topic of interest, but was in fact setting up the swerve. In this way, the reader’s expectations are not merely passively frustrated by a non sequitur, but actively betrayed.
And that’s how you piss off a thousand people in one go.

I know fuck all about homestuck but for your god given birthday impassioned rant: whats your favourite tid bit about troll culture?
okay my favorite bit about troll culture as everyone probably knows by now is their quadrants/romance systems. HOWEVER here are some of my favorite fun facts that i feel like people dont often explore the implications of.
horses are a revered type of creature on alternia. do you think it's illegal to kill them? do you think its like how usamericans cant kill bald eagles? do you think they try to make horses seem cooler in movies than they really are by giving them more impressive roars
"common alternian" sounds extremely similar to japanese, if talking the sounds its made up of. i infer this because damara's straight google translate japanese is actually vaguely understandable by some trolls as alternian, and is even referred to as "coarsely accented alternian" instead of being called another language. in addition to this fact, a good portion of the troll names are sanskrit in origin, which could tell us something alternian naming conventions. and in addition to THAT, xefros and dammek evidently live on the eastern side of the planet. i don't know what all of this means together but surely it's something 🤔

as a camp counselor (technically not currently bc i went home for Illness) and homestuck fan (also technically not currently bc I'm too busy being a camp counselor) i love camp skaia. which homestuck characters are most likely to be the "we're ALL sick there's no reason you can't do the hike up the hill" (has mild cold and vague heatsickness at worst) counselor x "actual lung infection but thinks it's a really normal cold" (very easily gaslit) counselor program group pair? i feel like eridan and kanaya are hot contenders here
ooo ok this is so good- apologies for the ever loving hell that you are about to see but i sought assistance from my dear dear pale friend @marv3l-drag0ns !!!!!!!! MUAH PLATONICALLLY <> ILY they were a huge help in putting this together
BOY DO I HAVE A LOT TO SAY ON THIS, THIS WAS EXTREMELY FUN :D
Tumblr media
so let’s begin: my immediate instinct was kanaya and tavros are the most easily gaslit, or adhere most to given direction (we’re not going to talk about HIM). but then who to pair them with? they are both wet cats that won’t work. we decided that YES kanaya and eridan definitely make sense! but in which role? it may seem obvious but NO! eridan too sick? whiny fussy pitiful sopping kitty he’s just a beanbag full of milk! so we decided barely sick eridan, otherwise he’d be throwing a fit. instead he’s referring to his Superior Genes! and kanaya is. strugglin. but fuck man here we are 🤷‍♂️
But we’re not done yet!
Tumblr media
the next we considered was karkat and terezi!! especially aided through the lens of karkat’s old crush on terezi; he’s too whipped and in denial to deny a girl a hand!
this led to possibly the funniest thing ever: THE INNER KANKRI THAT EVERYONE HAS AND HE SITS ON YOUR SHOULDER AND REMINDS YOU TO BE DECENT AND LEAVE ROOM FOR KANKRI
for the bigger drawings i capped it off with a good ol favorite of mine; erifef. why did i like them? man idek anymore but it worked really well with the idea of eridan being the sicker one, but being ok such thin ice over his constant whining that he just has to go along with it we just though it was funny hehe. it can be viewed through any lens! snippy or non, s’all good here! it’s all canon.
Tumblr media
what is he was sick and he couldn’t whine 🥺 what is he was sick and he wasn’t allowed even a snivle about it 🥺 not a snort 🥺 or a sob 🥺 he’s so pathetic !!!! besides, he can’t be out paced by some fuckin kids!!!! HES A GROWN ADULT 16-18 Y/O CAMP COUNSELOR GODDAMNIT!!
MARVEL: “Feferi: ah yes your sickness you have a functioning immune system and are the most dramatic guy on planet earth (only one of those statements is true)” which statement? :) yeah
she doesn’t believe him anymore <333
Ok and that is it for full line art doodles, but!!! i couldn’t resist drawing some more pairs we pondered
Tumblr media
ERIDAN AND KARKAT: omfg so good!! but they would 100% either both be tooooo sick and dead, or they would both be mostly fine
VRISKA AND TAVROS: no. and you know why we’re not doing this one :,( we all instantly knew this one would be here but we are choosing to ignore it im favor of…
TAVROS AND KARKAT: Marvel proposed it and it was very interesting!! i think similar to eridan and karkat, where they’re both dead or both barely sick. no i’m between. aggressive yet positive motivation (?) for the win!!! they further proposed that karkat “eats dirt for a living and doesn’t get sick very often”
Overall this was really fun to put together and answer, and i had a blast getting to colab with a mutual along the way :3 so thank you anon and thank you marvel!! this does bring me to something i’ve been meaning to say,,.,,,
@marv3l-drag0ns ,,? we’ve been friends forever, you know my dogs middle name, we complete each other in a way no one else can! you stop me from eating bones i find on the road, and i stop you from ascending to godtier to avoid going to exams…,…
would you be my
Moirail? <>
anyways! that’s all for now <3 this was so fun :) please send in more asks/ requests like this if you ever think of any more! i definitely feel for the camp counselor piece cause that was me earlier this summer PFF and all the counselors got sick and passed something around (but hey! it was an excuse to sit away from 7 y/olds for a few minutes while i got tea for my sore throat)

Warrior Cats is approaching Homestuck levels of "this work is so obscenely long that many things are coincidentally kind of a warrior cats reference."
If a work of fiction has done a certain plotline there's like a 75% chance something vaguely similar has happened in Warrior Cats. Especially animal xenofiction. There are only so many things you can have animal characters do and by god Warrior Cats has done most of them.

something in particular from the chapter stood out to me: there is a conscious decision to use the term "upsilon kids" diagetically, within the text, to refer to the group that had for a long time been referred externally as "the upsilon kids" within the fandom. any reason why you decided to make that leap?
well, the fandom called them the upsilon kids because i told them to. i always wanted these four to stand as parallels to the omega kids from hs2/hs:bc, and as echoes of the beta and alpha kids from homestuck proper. canonizing the name "The Upsilon Kids" is part of a larger strategy on my part that i'll expound upon a bit here.
you'll notice a few key bits of information being repeated in different contexts in this chapter. nods to three years ago, six years ago, ten years ago, etc. this is a deliberate choice to hammer home the timeline that we'll be working on going forward. this will (i hope) become increasingly useful as the story goes on, and we learn more about these characters and how they grew and changed over time. a big running theme of 3.2 is the notion of being in the middle of a story. the cast of godfeels, like us, have found themselves dropped into an ongoing narrative whose particulars don't really have anything to do with them. so much of the shift towards space opera has been about making the homestuck regulars feel less like the center of the universe. these are stories that have happened, and will happen, regardless of their attention or participation, which will nevertheless have an impact on their lives.
the burning core of 3.2 is the timeline of the upsilon kids. i very much like the idea of projecting a narrative forward to give the reader a vague sense of what's coming. lost on samsaria at 16, returned to the ewl at 23, betrayed at 26, dana & lenore reunited at 29. this means that the question isn't so much what happened as it is why it happened, which is always the more interesting question for me to write about anyway. so, back to your question-- it might've been good enough to just mention that Dana and her friends used to be "intergalactic celebrities," and indeed earlier drafts did leave it at that. but celebrity is a really vague, fluid concept, and i actually think that by itself is a less interesting fact as a result. adding the note that they were famous as a group for a specific event which defined their celebrity is just that much tastier. it's personal, you know? and it being personal in turn elevates and complicates the nature of Jade's betrayal.
i think, also, the diegetic proper noun The Upsilon Kids also stands as an interesting parallel given what we learned about Dana's history in B1C1. repeated themes in different contexts.
there's a lot of exposition in these early chapters of 3.2, because we're currently in the process of shaping a mold. i want you to see and understand this shape from a distance, to broadcast what is and is not a going mystery, so that you have an idea what to look for once we get to the point that we're actually starting to fill that mold with something. there's more i could say about this storytelling philosophy but i'll save that for another day, i think :)

First off, not a conspiracy post.
Yet has anyone else noticed a kind-of mainstreamed cultural gnosticism that developed in the latter half of the 20th century and the 21st?
I would say that it developed with the creation of fascism during the 1930s and 40s and the subsequent development of postmodernist existential/absurdist philosophies, and also launched into the mainstream during the 70s/80s with the advent of the mainstreaming of new-age hippy 'counter'culture.
Now, as gnosticism has always had a rather nebulous definition, cultural gnosticism, or better-termed neognosticism, is honestly a rather vague concept.
I would say it is better separated into two categories or cultural outlets: that which informs storytelling/media, and that which informs philosophizing/cultural theorizing.
That which informs storytelling/media I would say really came into general pop-culture during the 80s and 90s with not only the invention of cyberpunk fiction (william s. burroughs, etc etc), but also films such as the matrix, the dark city, and neuromancer. It is also worth mentioning the usage of gnosticism in (predominantly) Japanese media as well, such as quite a few JRPGs and late-90s animes such as Serial Experiments: Lain and Neon Genesis: Evangelion.
Furthermore, this trend continued well into the 2000s, 2010s, and even 2020s, with media such as Homestuck, Undertale, Adventure Time, Cruelty Squad, Paraphore, and the Amazing Digital Circus. There are a myriad of other such examples not explicitly mentioned here.
The latter facet of neognosticism especially informed, bizzarely enough, conspiracy culture and podcasts, really.
The matrix, tying into the storytelling/media facet, is often referenced by populist reactoid grifters whom see it as "exposing le matrix of le society", and especially with the usage of the term "redpilled" to describe those they agree with. The exact "matrix" they see is very ill-defined, as it does not exactly refer to capitalism in many cases but rather oftentimes some poorly abstracted, psuedomarxist idea of a New World Order or Globalist Elite, which operate on supernatural or above-human terms.

Do you have anything on the nature of doc scratch as a groomer in the context of kanaya’s rather positive description of his influence in her life vs the way he treated vriska? Sorry if this sounds vague idk what im looking for specifically
old ask because i was thinking on it for a little bit so i apologise, but i guess i don't think there is necessarily this contrast between a positive experience on Kanaya's part and a negative experience on Vriska's part. if Kanaya does have a neutral or even positive memory of Scratch's influence on her early life, that's at least partially down to Kanaya's more passive demeanor and in least one big part down to the fact that she probably just does not remember what it was that he did.
both girls were groomed, certainly, but Scratch is telling a characteristic truth when he insists upon his own asexuality, because he does not groom for pleasure but of course for a purpose, and Kanaya and Vriska were simply made for different purposes. which, of course, in turn reflects on their differing demeanors - after all a storyteller has no ability to alter the truth about someone's personality, only to twist how that personality is portrayed. from Hussie's commentary: "[Scratch is] always there at the right moment to nudge people in the direction of doing the nasty thing that, deep down, they already know they want to do."
i guess i might argue that it's unlikely any feelings Vriska and Kanaya might or might not have toward their old mentor are really about Scratch as "a person" or what he specifically did at all, for two related reasons. firstly that I don't think anyone really "remembers" what it is Scratch "did" to them because he's, really, almost beyond "doing" things to people; he acts in the nudging and rearranging of ideas, which live solely in the subconscious and in the genes (as kind of discussed or vaguely mused about here) and not in living memory.
in this sense, in this specific context, i'm often reluctant to even refer to Scratch with titles like "character" because he essentially asserts himself as an inevitable narrative force whose motives can no more be analysed than the motives of the sun or the night sky. the effects of Scratch's manipulations are ultimately not so much things he has "done" as they are the things he has caused others to do; which is really the crux of my second reason, that to have feelings about "what Scratch did" is really just to have feelings about where your life has taken you - railing against the narrator is just railing at God, and railing at God is for all intents and purposes railing at your own life. for Vriska, the path God sent her down led to destruction in her own life and in the lives of everybody around her, while in Kanaya's case the manipulations were so subtle that it is still not entirely clear to us what they involved; she was awoken to Skaia's light and seemingly grew to be a vampire as a result. if there weren't so much suspicious mystery surrounding what Scratch would have even done to cause this awakening in the first place, one might even be tempted to think of these manipulations as "benign", in comparison to Vriska's, if it weren't that there simply can be no benign act of God in Homestuck.
but ultimately Scratch as a storyteller understands that his story needs good girls and bad girls, passive and active players, and while we're all intimately aware of the heavy load of baggage Homestuck's chosen heroes are saddled with - a part in which Kanaya's burden of motherhood no doubt plays - the fact that Vriska spent so much of her life convinced that she had been given the good girl hat probably contributed no small amount to the psychological knock-on effects of being groomed into the bad girl.

Follow up to previous post about homestuck twitter 2019
Tags from @mylifeas-iseeit from THIS post about the anxiety felt in hstwt2019 homestuck fandom especially around Egbert
#damn i didnt even know this happened#i thought june was a completely separate character from hiveswap#the only thing i know about this era is that kate person who was a shitty transandrophobe and harrassing/shitting on fans#idk if she was also a part of thr what pumpkin staff op has talked about in other posts on this subject#but god thats shitty
Reaching out and deciding to follow up:
Tumblr media
I think I will begin by adding context to a post I made on Medium detailing my experiences with transandophobia in the fandom at the time. You might want to read it first, but that's up to you.
What's important to note, is while I will be adding names, this is not meant as a callout post. I'm not trying to list sins, I'm trying to talk about what happened from my personal perspective.
This is fucking long and I'm not even done with the first point as of typing this so under a cut it goes lol
Also heads up: There are screenshots in here I do not have the energy to caption right now. I'll try to do it in the future, and feel free to poke me to do it more quickly.
First:
A few disclaimers: Because of the nature of Twitter, I have little to no receipts of what happened as of this posting. Ideally I would have images of or links to tweets or discord chats or anything else, but I know at least one person I will be referencing mass deleted their tweets on a regular basis.
That's Kate Mitchell. I don't know why I bother being vague about her so much, since she's infamous enough even to people who weren't around at the time.
Okay, well, I do know. I'm still afraid. And I don't mean to build her up as some big scary evil trans fem, but as many of you know, she was responsible for a lot of harassment, and a lot of my harrassment specifically.
But also she is a trans fem on the internet and was Known before she got big in the Homestuck fandom (she was a team manager of some Overwatch League -- you can google it, I don't know enough about esports to explain, but suffice to say, she left that community with some bad accusations there as well). As such, she had her own page or thread or whatever on kiwifarms, and people used that thread of "evidence" against her when trying to criticize her.
Note: Do not fucking do that. I don't care what a queer person has done, never trust much less spread "evidence" you find on kiwifarms. They're lying transphobic assholes to put it mildly. If anything on any of those threads are true, you'll find it elsewhere. There's a reason Kate supporters called her critics "useful idiots" (outside of just wanting to call us idiots and then laugh because we didn't understand what the term meant in some real "I'm more woke/educated/better than you bullshit"). (From Wikipedia: In political jargon, a useful idiot is a term currently used to reference a person perceived as propagandizing for a cause—particularly a bad cause originating from a devious, ruthless source—without fully comprehending the cause's goals, and who is cynically being used by the cause's leaders.[1][2] The term was often used during the Cold War to describe non-communists regarded as susceptible to communist propaganda and manipulation.[1])
In a similar vein, I've seen some of the callout posts and image receipts made for Kate and I just can't sign off on most of them. Some of them lack context, some of them are fearmongering about fictional content, some of them aren't actually that serious but treated as just as bad as everything else. At the same time, I'd be a hypocrit if I didn't mention that I used to agree with some of those points and it took many discussions and personal growth to figure my shit out. (What is funny to me personally, is at least one features Kate being an ass to one of my trans fem friends, so I do that point at screen meme each time I see it. If you see an icon of Ardata with a clown nose, that's my friend.)
This is all to say: I have complicated feelings about talking about Kate publicly. My dislike of her has gotten me accused of transmisogyny, and I do my absolute best to check my feelings and biases before I say anything to avoid perpetuating any transmisogyny. However, it was also often used as a bludgeon to prevent people from talking about their experiences, whether or not they were also trans fem. My problem with Kate is that she was a bully, and one of the tools she used was her identity as a trans lesbian. That does not say anything about any other trans lesbian or the concept of being a trans lesbian. Just her.
You see? Paragraphs of me making sure everyone knows where I come from with Kate. It's important, but the fear of being misinterpreted has made it hard for me to name her specifically. As recently as a year or two ago, I had an ex-friend accuse me of "still crying about a trans woman disagreeing with [me] on a podcast" (paraphrased) when I vague posted about it. The fear is not unfounded.
This is all to say -- Kate was known to mass delete her tweets, even before she left Twitter for good. I only have one or two tweets of hers saved (the one I'm certain about is in the Medium post, so I'll get to it).
Kate was not the only one who deleted Tweets, as documented by Homestuck.net (which is a great resource for Homestuck archival stuff, despite the discourse surrounding it (which I might get into on another post down the road)).
@andrewhussie: Andrew Hussie’s personal twitter, historically used to troll people and directly communicate with the fanbase. Deleted all tweets in 2022, before that the last activity was in late 2021.
Last activity: November 6, 2022, all tweets deleted.
@d-clussie.tumblr: Formerly @mspandrew, this is Andrew Hussie’s personal tumblr, nigh identical in use to his Twitter. Deleted all posts in 2022, before that the last activity was in early 2021.
Last activity: November 27, 2022, all posts deleted.
No WP staff's accounts are included in this, so I don't know who all deleted all their content or large sections of it, but it wasn't rare.
Moving on...
-------
I link a twitter thread of mine that is my immediate reaction to the Toblerone June "canonization"
Tumblr media
This, I think, is what got me on Kate and Aysha's radars (I think it was this thread or a similar one that got quote retweeted to Aysha's locked twitter and then got noticed by Kate, putting me more on her radar) outside of "another Homestuck podcaster rubbing elbows with people we know better." This is the tweet that leads to the most uncomfortable and ultimately traumatic podcast interview of my life (I say as though I have guested on more than that podcast lmao). I can dig more into it later.
Shoving this here, as I'm writing this and have mentioned Aysha several times (down below) but have not figured out a good place to talk about who she is. Also I'm not sure if her pronouns are she/her or they/them. I think people refer to her using she/her, so that's what I will do, and I'll correct it if I find out I'm wrong.
Aysha is the lead writer at What Pumpkin. She wrote several volumes of Friendsim, helped with the Epilogues, wrote for and has her own self insert in Pesterquest, co-founded Snake Solutions with Kate, etc. You can look up all her contributions pretty easily. She is often considered "one of the good ones" at WP, but she was just better at keeping things on the down low until the whole Sarah Z/Gio situation, which I'll link to later. Probably in a reblog or at the very end.
---------
“Sorry, transmascs, you have to deal with June being canon the same way we have to deal with transmasc Roxy being canon, get used to it,” was about the kindest sentiment bnfs and hardcore June-stans had about the announcement.
This is almost word for word a tweet Kate made, in one of her "kinder" moments. Again, no receipts. Maybe someone has it out there somewhere, but I think if anyone had been diligently archiving Kate's tweets, we would have seen more of them by now.
---------
I was personally publicly ridiculed on an “unofficial” Homestuck podcast (that regularly had WP staff on it and even got an exclusive statement from Hussie to be read aloud on it) as a “June skeptic” simply for not having anything to add when the topic turned to transfem readings for Egbert in the comic and my previous twitter statements about not being a huge fan of Toblerone canon (my Twitter thread about it below).
Tumblr media
That podcast was Perfectly Generic Podcast. It was created and run by Kate, and, from my understanding, launched her popularity. I'm not sure if she already had connections, because she was able to get What Pumpkin staff on pretty early on. As such, a lot of people listened to it.
I go into depth on how I got on the podcast and my feelings about it in the linked thread, but I'd like to add a little more.
I was kind of frozen once the episode ended. That was... fine, right? I tried to justify it to myself. It wasn't until my friend (the one whose favor got me on the podcast) talked to me and, after I was kinda weird about it, mentioned they felt weird about it, did I realize how terrible I felt. I had been given the file to upload onto my own feed since it was a crossover, but I never uploaded it. The episode is still out there, along with a transcript, if anyone cares to search it out, but I'm not going to link it.
More people came forward admitting it was an uncomfortable episode. I blocked Kate and kind of... shut down? I still had episodes to record and publish, and I didn't publicly talk about my feelings until the linked thread months later.
Speaking of the block:
Tumblr media
So the above is from one of Kate's locked accounts. I was (obviously) not privvy to this one, and thus I've been hesitant to post it. But it's been years, and I'm tired of sitting on shit that was shown to me and made me feel worse about everything without being able to provide the context. None of y'all know how I got this screenshot, anyway. Also, it's clear that before I blocked her (or before she noticed) she had been saying some shit about me. (I ended up having someone tell her to keep the money.)
One of my friends vagued about the episode on my behalf, and Kate, in turn, also vague posted about it on main.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the line of sharing screenshots that were from places I didn't have access to, but none of y'all know who shared them with me... "Jax Does Homestuck" is the old name for my podcast "Live Laugh Stuck." This was the episode that came out after my episode on PGenPod. I'm blacking out the people I don't know are for sure part of WP staff or otherwise someone to naturally come up in this discussion
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note: I had not said anything publicly about this until January, and these posts are from October.
Christ
This got a lot more in depth on my personal traumas around this than I initially intended, but here we are.
And yes, I'm sticking with calling them traumas. I have psychiatric permission and everything, if that even matters. I don't know if I'll touch on this again elsewhere in this post, but in case I don't, I guess I want to end this section saying that this whole thing caused me to lose friends, before I even started accepting and opening up about "proship" views, which lost me more. I was invited to then wordlessly kicked out of a Dirkkat zine because I got on Kate's bad side, and attracted the ire of others in her circle like Dani/lalonders, who might be mentioned later. I don't know. This is already so long and I don't think they get vagued in my Medium post and one of the things I want to bring up in regards to them is antisemitism which I simply don't feel qualified to do off the cuff, as a white gentile.

I also think it’s important to note that around this time, most if not all bnfs were now associated with WP either on a contract basis (like writing one or more routes for Pesterquest) or new employees, even the ones causing the most visible and purposeful harassment in the fandom.
Kate started out as a bnf (big name fan) and got hired on as a writer for Pesterquest, then for Homestuck 2, and I think just as official staff? I don't know how What Pumpkin staffing worked. She also co-founded a company, Snake Solutions, with Aysha. Honestly, I can't remember everyone else who turned from bnf to official staff or contracter for PQ. There were several. Sarah Zedig. Pip? Greiver? KC? Dani was a big one (how I first heard about it pictured below), but I don't think this ended up amounting to anything. Could be wrong.
Tumblr media
As I mentioned before, I feel ill-equipped to go into depth on them. The most I can say is they rivaled Kate in both popularity and shittiness and, in my opinion, were often used as a shield against transandrophobic/racist criticisms, since they're a black trans masc (correct me if I'm wrong about their specific identity), and the main target for Kate and co's harrassment was a black trans masc. If you know who I'm referencing, you know, but as of now I think I'll stick to vague references for them.
------------
Vriska: I have one million and three problems with Vriska’s route, but keeping on the topic of trans rep and discourse from Pesterquest, Vriska is very heavily coded as a trans girl. Or, at least, she is if you know anything about who wrote her or any of the discourse surrounding Vriska at the time.
Kate wrote Vriska's PQ route. Hussie was going to, but she convinced them to let her do it. This is also I think Kate's first official work for WP. Just for like, idk, timeline context? lol
--------
It being said that it’s fine to change canon bisexuals to lesbians because there are so many bisexuals in homestuck that it doesn’t matter if you take some away. .... (I don’t have the referenced tweet, unfortuantely, but here’s a similar one, which may seem innocuous but is coming from a person who had harassed people for hc’ing a character with no canon sexuality bi instead of a lesbian)
The tweet I included had the name blacked out, but it was Kate.
Tumblr media
----------
This was also Kate.
Bnfs, some of which, as I mentioned, later became WP staff and kept saying these same things, often said things like “It’s lesbophobic and transmisogynistic to expect a trans lesbian to be nice about men or include men in what we do” setting aside the fact that said people actively harassed trans mascs and “boy likers”, encouraged other people to do the same, and also were, as I said, bnfs and later WP staff who had a lot of influence over the fandom. There’s a difference between prioritizing trans lesbians and actively shitting on trans mascs and “boy likers” to your thousands of followers.
Tumblr media
------------
Okay and now I just have some other screenshots I dug up that I don't know what to do with so they're going to go here and I am going to talk about them in whatever order I happened to put them in lol
------------
Tumblr media
This tweet references Kate qrt'ing and mass harassing a black, newly turned 18, trans girl, who made a post on her twitter account with a tiny following that got maybe a handful of notes about racism she saw in Vast Error. Kate was, I think, the lead writer on Vast Error's visual novel, Snowbound Blood. A huge problem with VE is, at least back then, every fucking ounce of criticism would be found by the creator (I forgot his name tbh) and commented on, usually argued with. It's a big reason why I could never get into it.
The person in question also denies ban evading, and even then, it's not an excuse to put an extremely vulnerable person on blast for the crime of criticizing Vast Error.

Tumblr media Tumblr media
The formatting on this one is weird, but I had to get screenshots of the thread because I could only see the linked tweet in discord. Anyway, this is how seriously people treated June. She wasn't just a cool interpretation of a character. How you felt about her was directly linked to how much you cared about trans fems.
Also like, I doubt it was intentional, but the "14 characters" message is, at the very least a terrible coincidence, as references to "14 words" is a white supremecist dog whistle.
-------
Tumblr media
This was in response to people saying "Hey maybe people hired by WP who talk about working for WP shouldn't be using their platforms to harass fans."
It was a popular sentiment at the time. Still is, probably.
-----------
Tumblr media
This.... Where do I start...
This is the thread that shared it
Tumblr media
It's a "leaked" thread from one of Kate's private twitters. Why do I say "leaked"? Because I personally feel Kate was fucking mad that people enjoyed Trace's Tavros route, which had a better Vriska than what she wrote (in my, and others' opinions). You can see the discord message in question is from months prior, but only got released after Tavros's route came out, and I know she vented about it before then. Also, this private twitter, basically anyone could request to join. I followed it for a little while! But "leaking" it was another excuse to target a previously mentioned black trans masc fan, blaming them for the leak with no proof.
This is not me defending Trace. I don't know shit about him. I don't know if this was a one-off comment taken out of context, or proof of repeated violations. I just know Kate and the discourse she approved of benefited from this being leaked. This one is probably the most speculation vs actual fact I have here, so I guess fitting that it's last.
Anyway. Might reblog with the Gio links for context for Kickstarter/Sarah Z/Aysha shit, but other than that, let me know if there's stuff you want to be expanded on or other shit you want to know!
And thank you if anyone actually gets through all of this lmao

Anonymous asked: Sorry am I the only one wondering how that transphobic homestuck post made it into the queue or . . . ?
Anonymous asked: sry im on mobile so i dont have the post # but the last bit of that late 413 ask is a little 🤨🤨🤨 transphobic
Anonymous asked: heyyyy mpc idk if you just didn’t pick up on it or what but that 4/13 ask was like. blatantly and pointedly transmisogynistic for no reason. >: /
Full offense but these messages are so useless you may as well have never sent them. Do y'all not realize people aren't in your fandom, or perhaps have never encountered this in joke on their dashboard? Or maybe you should explain what's going on? Because does it look like I make a habit of intentionally posting transmisogyny here? On purpose for funs?
What if you linked the post or mentioned tags so I know which one, out of the 50+ posted daily, you are referring to? What if? Don't let this put you off warning people, but reconsider feeble hand wringing vague posts and, you know, put in a little more effort than 'aah eek a yucky vibe?? maybe? idk d-don't look at me hhhh' type messages.
