I find it amusing how the first person he meets in Hell is Charlie. Also, wow on the body transformation descriptions. Though, YRZ obviously doesn't try to explain what Heaven did to him. I feel like a lot of people would be shocked that he spent the entire hundred years that he had been Heaven incarcerated to the point of suicidal ideation and maybe madness. He just summed it up as Boring.

Whatever do you mean? Yrzs problem was that he was trapped. He solved the problem and he is no longer trapped. Why bring it up any more??????? It is No Longer An Issue :)

(Pehaps Yrz gets drunk with Lilith one night and speaks about a gold room with miles of shelves but no windows or doors. About occasional visits from the few angels high up enough that he couldn’t just kill them and get out. About the heavenly choir, beautiful and out of reach. About spending five full years breaking himself on a single point until he passed out — and waking to find all that damage was undone.

About being Yrz, driven to a stillness so complete his mind could only devour itself. No purpose. No goal. Nothing new to learn. His very self, starving to death.

About waking one endless moment with two options: get out or die trying.

Perhaps Lilith sits with him, and Yrz weeps, just a little. Angry bitter tears, as if crying a poison out. Because heaven was breathtaking. It was beautiful. It was Perfect.

And if it had left him with the freedom to choose it, he would have done so. A single door given to him, and he would’ve stayed in that cage without complaint. Kept their records, worked among the heavenly host, sung with the choir.

But there was no choice.

Yrz wouldn’t tolerate any chains he didn’t fasten on himself.

And pehaps this is the first and last time Yrz will ever speak about his time in heaven.)

I was just thinking at work and thought about buck telling tommy about the will (this is gonna get there i promise lol and I think the sperm donor thing too bc this is bucktommy endgame fic and buck wants it all out there haha)

ngl im lowkey annoyed bc I had a whole convo in my head and it was so good, but couldn't write it down and forgot half of it, but I think it came back to me more or less haha

In Buck's defense, he doesn’t mean to ask this question right then. It just slips out. He's lying in the big, strong arms of his very hot, amazing boyfriend, both sweaty and still breathless. He’s blissed out and fucked out, and so content and still dizzy after a mindblowing orgasm. He doesn’t have a lot of control over his thoughts and words right now. So he surprises even himself when the question flies out of him.

“Do you want to have children?” he asks casually, absentmindedly playing with their intertwined fingers where they're splayed on his chest.

“What?” Tommy asks, surprise and even shock evident in his voice, and only then Buck realizes what he said, and he feels his eyes widen and face starts to burn, and he stares at the ceiling, but feels Tommy’s gaze on the side of his head.

“I- I- I mean, like ever, some day, down the line- not like- I mean, you know, I- I just thought we should talk about it if- if- if it’s going where I hope it’s going- because I- we’ve been together for a while and I hope that- I think I-” he starts rambling and stumbling over his words, panicking just a little bit. Fuck, they’ve been doing so good the past few months, it’s honestly his best relationship he’s been in, probably the longest, too, and now he goes and screws it up by being too much, too soon, too serious-

“Evan.” Tommy’s hand lands on his cheek, and he gently turns Buck’s head towards himself. He meets Tommy’s soft gaze, and relaxes a little instantly. Tommy doesn’t look freaked out, just surprised, but there’s a hint of a smile dancing on his lips.

So! NoHats! I'm going to grab you and use this to ramble. A Lot.

The NoHats AU is @samhainian's it's just that I'm the strange little freak who takes the words said unto me and executes on them. But I can still do a little explainer on what our overall thoughts and vibes are. (And, that we are in fact propping up a little box with some cheese under it here. 🪤 Please (PLEASE) feel free to pick up what we're putting down.)

We're far from the only ones exploring a "what if siffrin fucking died" AU, though the main difference with NoHats is the placement of the death in the timeline. Instead of being 'Mal Du Pays Wins' or 'Act 6 encounter goes horribly wrong', the death is… Just after the (literal) falling action.

(This placement is because Sam is a comic book fan who thus has become used to characters being ripped away at the cruelest times by shitty writers. THANK FUCKING GOD adrienne is not that and isat is delightful yippieee, but, back on topic.)

Giving the party the full understanding of What Happened that you get by putting the death after black hole siffrin, but before the A6 encounter leaves an interesting gap to be filled. See, making Siffrin's death very much not Loop's fault means that… this once again reads (when not read as simply a tragedy...) as the universe doing what it sees fit to fulfull Loop's wish… Thus making Siffrin's death Loop's fault again, but only in their eyes. And only in a way they could express if they were honest about who they were…

And this is where having had excuse to waffle about my general Postcanon Loop thoughts the other day comes in handy, because Sam and I have that as our canon-compliant reading to begin with, NoHats plays off of a lot of the same readings of Loop's character. Namely: Uh Oh Somebody's Lying By Fucking Omission Again. (BECAUSE TO BE FAIR THIS TIME… HOW THE FUCK WOULD YOU HANDLE THAT?)

Now, neither Sam nor I are fanfic writers, so this has been a little bit trapped in our heads and DMs (and my unfinished art but,)

But our thoughts on how NoHats like… Goes.

Siffrin's death is peaceful, but that does not mean the aftermath of it is. I can't imagine the party takes it well, especially after understanding the circumstances of the Loops. (And, of note, in A5 where nobody had the discussion on what to do with each other's bodies should something happen…) But I'd imagine it traumabonds them somewhat (understatement of the century) and now knowing how the rest of the party feels, they resolve to travel together for the forseeable future.

The party track down Loop to deliver the terrible news, since they were clearly Siffrin's friend too, and invite Loop along to travel at least long enough to (let them grieve) get the burial over with. Loop, here, can be helpful in knowing what Siffrin would've wanted where the party would be at a loss. Loop, I think, takes a bit of a lead on the funerary aspects of it all, because, um. (Performing rites on your own body, huh?)

Then, as things are after a death, life just… Kind of has to continue on as normal. The party travel, pick up Nille, and get to know Loop as this mysterious new person. Maybe in this situation they might stay in Bambouche for a while to give Bonnie more stability since. They are probably taking it the worst. It would've come out of absolutely nowhere for everyone in the party obviously but god, for a kid? For A Kid?

It should be stated NoHats is not intended to be grimdark, just y'know. An exploration of grief. This is also why it's got a bit of a lopsided focus on Bonnie vs the rest of the party because hhrrhghghhghghhhghhghhh <- incoherent

Now, a crossroads.

How does the party discover Loop to be Siffrin? How long does it take. How much have the party embraced them as part of the family (especially with something as intense to bond over as this)?

There's the Odile option. Have her put it together and have to bring it up somehow. This could also be done by Isabeau, perhaps. He's smart. (which. God. If anything's the real Isabeau Torment Nexus it's this)

Then there's the other option batted around by Sam and I. The: The Universe Dislikes Duplicates option.

The items in the house that fzzt away when inspected. The Universe doesn't like there to be two of something, at least not when they're acknowledged. But one of something is just fine…?

Which is to say. I'm not a personal proponent of 'Loop getting their body back'. EXCEPT …… except this one time.

There's only one Siffrin now, so they don't need to be obfuscated to exist.

Consider, if you will. Loop swallowing their guilt for long enough to be comfortable. Falling back into old habits. Without another Siffrin around to compete for the niche of, they actually begin to act like Siffrin again. Not intentionally, it's just… The party is as welcoming as they've always been. And the party swears they keep catching glimpses of a face under all the light.

Then, one day, while still not fully human again, the resemblence becomes undeniable. Loop having not even noticed until everyone looks at them like they've seen a ghost.

Has it been months? How long have they kept up this lie? Is it even a lie, to them? They're Loop. But they were, once, Siffrin.

Even after explaining it, does that make it better or worse?

Bonnie cuts through the betrayed, struck-nerve reactions with a sobering "I missed you."

… Anyway !

Yeah so that's the vibe for NoHats. As for LoopLoops? That's more nebulous. I think it can go anywhere really in the NoHats timeline. I err personally toward the "Loop continuously replays the last 10 minutes before Siffrin's death almost immediately after they find out and have to parkour their ass up the House in the most distressing situation possible to try and get them to hold on, just please hold on." (Remember! Siffrin can remember the contents of Loop's loop backs in the A6 fight!)

But there is the possibility that this happens months, or worse years down the road. One last Loop back. Throw it all away for the chance to just get that one thing you didn't know you even wanted but now know you NEED.

Misc:

Okay miscellaneous time.

This is where I admit that I have a bunch of unfinished NoHats art that I haven't gotten around to yet because I feel like a right tool being so obviously Loop-Centric with my fancontent (I AM . . I REALISE I AM NOT DOING MUCH TO BEAT THE ALLEGATIONS.) So like if people want to see that please say because euaghghghhfh <- the nervous.

this is like the most fucked up place to do isaloop fr. anyway.

one of Sam's mid-game observations that I'm just going to share for no particular reason is that Bonnie's hair shares a bunch of shapes with Siffrin's. The flick up at the top, the 3 pronged shape of the fringe… just something to think about.

Without 2 Siffrins around to compare each other to it'd likely be a lot harder to notice Loop's similarities. Doesn't mean that those similarities don't sting more in this context though.

If you do NoHats without LoopLoops. The concept of this all fading into memory years down the line while they just have slightly-glowy but otherwise regular Siffrin hanging out is fucked up to think about. Just like real grief. Augh

(an OC that I've been working on these days. It's a shapeshifter/doppelganger that is.... well lets just say that its dating life is a bit complicated. The caption is from Catharsis by AlicebanD, and more info about the story under the cut!)

Helian, he/him. Tailor-made to be well-liked and loved. His partner did not take the news of him being a shapeshifter well, to put it gently.

The closest the shapeshifter has to a "true form", though it doesn't really have one. Any form it takes is done on purpose. If asked to create a shape that represents its "baseline" best, this is what it would pick. But it doesn't enjoy being without identity. (It talks about itself in the third person, thats how little "self" it considers itself to have.)

Luna, she/her. The form she'll take throughout most of the story. She took the name, face and personality of a dead woman, at her husband's request...

Life is hard for a people-pleasing shapeshifter...

A beat of silence passed before Keika slowly raised himself up onto his elbows. "What?"

"I could take a karru in a fight."

Hearing it a second time didn't help and Keika pulled a face, some odd sense of indignation scrabbling to life in his belly. "Bullshit."

Atlas looked up with furrowed eyebrows, one cheek bulging with un-chewed stew. "Wha'd'ya mean?"

"He's saying you couldn't take a karru in a fight." Cecily offered, weaving flowers together from her place in Ahria's lap. The other woman seemed uninterested in their conversation, leaned back against a tree with one of Cecily's scarves draped over her face.

Atlas immediately appeared offended and Keika rolled his eyes. "They're either too shy to even get close, or too aggressive to stand a chance- have you seen their claws?"

"And ? I'm pretty sure I'm bigger than one, I could easily overpower it."

"No, no, I think Keika has a point actually." Cecily piped up again, arms raised above her head as she tilted the flower crown back and forth as if assessing it. "Don't karru run away from humans? And the striped ones are huge."

Atlas, maturely, threw a cube of potato at her leaving Keika holding back a laugh when it fell short and landed in the dirt at her hip. "You're both only dismissing me because you know I'd win and then there'd be no karru left and the ecosystem would go off balance."

"Yeah," Keika agreed, sharing a look with Cecily. "It's the ecosystem we're worried about."

“Hey, Karen.” Buck responds quietly, not answering the question. Hen does it for him.

“Buck’s having a crisis. He slept with Eddie.” Hen says, and Karen turns towards them, eyes wide, but then the surprise turns into a smile.

“Well, finally.” she chuckles, reaching into the cupboard for a mug. “I thought it’d take them decades to figure it out.” she pauses, then frowns, turning towards Buck again. And he chooses to ignore that comment, because what the hell did she even mean? “Wait, what happened with you and Taylor? When did you guys break up? Did I miss some 118 gossip?” she asks, shooting her wife a questioning look.

“No, you didn’t, they’re still together..” Hen responds, scrutinizing gaze not leaving Buck. “He cheated on her.”

(fic title is tentative as of the moment) it may not be a friday today, but here's a snippet inspired by a writing/dialogue prompt i stumbled upon for a kolena fic wip which i am very excited to write!!! @katherineholmes here's a fic snip for you, vis! thanks for listening to me ranting about this the other day. love ya lots! <3

She wakes up to Jeremy’s face hovering above her.

“Asshole.”

Jeremy chuckles, backing away from her bed. “Mom told me to wake you up—” He pauses at the sight of tears running down her face. “Hey, why’re you crying?”

“I…” Her throat feels dry all of a sudden. Like she has spent months without drinking water. “I don’t know.”

Jeremy looks at her through narrowed, concerned eyes and sighs. “Go and get dressed. Mom and Dad’s gonna be out later than expected.”

Following Jeremy outside, she spots the calendar marked with a star. “Right. It’s for that fundraiser party in Whitmore.”

Jenna’s a fluttering mess downstairs, darting back and forth from the smoky pan and beeping microwave. The Gilbert siblings’ banter comes to a stop by the doorway.

The microwave explodes and the fire sprinklers pelts down overhead.

“Could you help me, please?”

Jenna, Elena, and Jeremy rush inside the empty hallways, well-aware of the eyes following them.

“I’m sorry you guys were late.” Jenna apologises, shielding her face away from the inquisitive stares of the teachers.

Jeremy shrugs, finding it convenient he was able to skip Tanner’s class. “It’s fine—”

“Gilbert!”

Speak of the devil and he shall appear.

Tanner’s face is twisted in annoyance. “Late again, Gilbert?”

“What does he mean by ‘again’, Jeremy?” Jenna says through gritted teeth, watching as the aforementioned History teacher trudges towards them.

The commotion drowns in her ears. Muffled and painful like someone placed cotton balls in her ears…

No—to be precise, it felt like she was drow—

Her eyes picks up a familiar face amidst the crowd.

Dressed in tattered clothes unfit for a casual Friday morning class. Auburn hair in disarray, like he had slept for a several hundred years and never bothered to brush his hair.

But…

It’s his eyes. There’s something familiar to him. His face—It’s something she has seen before and something she hasn’t also seen yet.

He stared at her. Unwavering, glinting in something akin to chaos.

Elena takes a leap. A single step forward is all it takes for the world to turn to dust.

It’s only them in this place now.

And somehow, it felt familiar. It didn’t bother her at all that Jeremy’s gone, even Jenna.

"Have we met before?"

He cocks his head at her, observing… pondering.

"In your dreams." He tells her, hands tucked in the pockets of his black trousers.

"You don't have to be a dick about it." She looks at him. Really looks at him. Elena notices a shadow under his feet. It’s pitch black, pooling, licking at his shoes.

It follows him as he approaches her, leaving a stain on the pristine white floor. "No, I'm serious.” He stops, a mere three feet before her. “Haven't you noticed your dreams are a bit different yet?"

He smirks and it sets her on edge.

“Run, Katerina!”

“Your hair is really soft after you wash it, you know?”

Arjuna started, only slightly chagrined by those words. It was just like David to utter that while still going through the motions of brushing his recently washed hair, but nevertheless, something about them made him feel pleasantly warm. “Thank you,” he murmured, then adding after a thought, “Your Majesty.”

Once upon a time, David might have corrected him for addressing him so formally. Now, the former king only hummed in response, aware that the Pandavan prince was using it as a term of endearment in turn. “I know us Heroic Spirits don’t need to wash up at all,” he went on candidly. “One could say it’s a waste of resources to save shower water for us, really. Even so – ” And here, he forwent the hairbrush in favor of caressing Arjuna’s hair directly, “ – I think it wouldn't hurt to use a little here and there for this. Don't you think so, Arjuna?”
