Day 7 Prompt: "Do you recognize this?"
Summary: Klaus' SO is writing their doctoral dissertation on cross-culture myths. Much to their irritation, Klaus knows a thing or two about those.

"Love? Hello, can you hear me?"
Slowly, I turned my head away from the paper in front of me, still not taking my eyes off the drawings. A hand waved in front of my face too, but I ignored it.
"What do you want, Nik?" I muttered, only half paying attention to him.
"I want to know you haven't gone into a coma," he whined, flopping down into the chair next to me. I cracked the tiniest smile, but didn't let my train of thought wander from the work in front of me.
"I haven't gone into a coma," I repeated. I didn't say anything else after that and neither did Nik for a moment, until he sighed.
"You must understand why I'm concerned when you respond to my questions like you're in a trance."
I sighed, making a last note before finally looking up at Nik with a tired smile.
"I'm sorry, babe. I know I've been pretty wrapped up in all this lately, but I'm writing a doctoral dissertation in folklore and mythology. I've kinda got my hands full, and if I don't put in the hours to get this done right, it's all going to be for nothing."
Nik rolled his eyes dramatically before fixing me with a look.
"You know, if you just became a vampire with me, you wouldn't have to worry about things like school and work anymore."
I narrowed my eyes. "If I ever make the decision to become a vampire with you, all I'm going to do is go back to college for more degrees and studying. I love doing this, even if it makes me want to walk into the ocean sometimes. All eternity is going to do is enable me to throw any kind of practical job application for my studies out the window."
Nik sighed heavily, but he had a smile on his face all the same.
"I probably could've guessed that answer, couldn't I?"
"Probably."
We shared a smile, and then my attention drifted back to the paper in front of me. I stared at it for a few moments, still half-aware of Nik watching me fondly, when an idea struck like lightning.
"Wait, Nik... I just thought of something." I rushed to turn the paper around on my desk so it faced Nik instead of me. "Do you recognize this? I mean, you've been around for a thousand years. Chances are probably decent that you know something about this, right?"
Nik stared at the paper for a minute, then slowly looked up at me, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth.
"What did you say you're doing your dissertation on again?"
"I'm focusing on myths that appear to transcend cultures throughout history. There's a couple examples of stories and legends that exist in basically the same form in cultures that had no contact. This one, usually referred to as something along the lines of 'the curse of and the sun and the moon', is the main one I've decided to focus on. So... any chance you can tell me anything about it?"
Nik's tiny smile turned into a full on grin, a twinkle in his eyes as he looked at me. My heart leapt.
"Oh my gosh, you totally know something! Tell me, I can't wait. I'm gonna have to find some sources other than you if I want to put it in my paper, but-"
"This is mine, love," he said. I stared at him, trying to process what his words meant, but I came up empty-handed.
"What do you mean? Is this copy of the myth yours?"
"In a way."
Nik looked back down at the illustration depicting the curse, this one of Aztec origin. It was my favorite of the versions I'd found, although the same curse had also appeared in Roman scrolls and a half-dozen other cultures from around the world. He ran his finger over the lines of the drawing fondly.
"I drew this."
My mouth dropped open, and I looked quickly between Nik, the drawing, and back again.
"What... what do you mean you drew this? This is an Aztec myth from the 13th century-" I stopped short as my mind finally caught up. "...which I guess you were alive for..."
Nik smiled and kicked back in his chair, ankles crossed and a proud expression on his face. I just stared at him in shock.
"There is no such thing as the Curse of the Sun and the Moon, love," he said. "The real thing is the Hybrid curse, placed on me. A long time ago, Elijah and I planted this myth in cultures all over the world to get every single werewolf and vampire in the world looking for the components I needed to break my own curse. And it worked."
Nik finished his explanation with a smirk, but I didn't react. I just kept staring at him, my brain going through the equivalent of a computer's blue screen of death. This could not be possible.
"Hold on a second," I said, holding up a hand to stop my own swirling thoughts before looking at Nik again. "Let me get this straight. You drew this ancient Aztec drawing I have on my desk right now?"
"Yes."
"And you created the Roman scrolls I found that kick-started this project?"
"I did."
"And you completely made up the myth of the Curse and the Sun of the Moon, then did the ancient equivalent of editing it into a bunch of wikipedia articles to make everyone believe it was real, all so other werewolves and vampires would do the work of finding things you needed for you?"
"That's right."
"So this curse, this myth that permeates a dozen different, separate cultures, the cornerstone of my dissertation... is just a lie you made up a long time ago, that nobody ever disproved because you're just so fucking old you could create mythology at the same time that these ancient cultures actually existed?"
"Exactly."
I closed my eyes and pinched the bridge of my nose, taking a deep breath in and letting it out slowly. Then, my eyes snapped open, and I snatched up a scroll from the top of my desk and hucked it at my boyfriend.
"Are you FUCKING KIDDING ME NIK?" I cried, shooting out of my seat. Nik looked a little shocked, partly because the scroll had hit him smack in the face and then partly because I never got this kind of mad at him. "You can't just fake historical documents to serve your own purposes!"
"Technically, I didn't fake any historical documents. I made them at the same time in history that they're supposed to be from."
"DOESN'T COUNT! My whole dissertation is about examining the phenomena of cultures that had no interactions somehow telling the same stories. There's all kind of examples of it, but this was going to be my ace in the hole, and now I can't use it!"
"Sure you can," Nik said, at last standing from the chair. He was smart enough not to walk towards me, but I hurled a pillow from my chair at him anyway.
"No, I can't! What am I gonna say? Oh, well you see, all these different cultures had the same mythology without talking to each other because my boyfriend is a motherfucker who lied through his teeth to manipulate people, and he's old enough that he completely got away with it!"
Nik shrugged. "Sounds good to me."
"ARGH! I can't believe you- Oh my God."
"What?"
"The stupid fucking vampire myth was going to be another example supporting my dissertation. But that's gone now too. 'Oh, why do all these cultures have the same mythology about a curse and blood-drinking creatures who stalk the night?' Well that's simple, professors! It's because my boyfriend, one of those blood-drinkers, just kept showing up to plant a bullshit story and got other myths written about him in the process!"
"I'm still not seeing the problem, love, that sounds like an excellent presentation."
"NIKLAUS MIKAELSON! I AM GOING TO KILL YOU!"
I rushed to close the distance between us, smacking him in the chest and then continuing to whack him in the shoulders, arms, and chest again.
"You. Can't. Just. Make. Up. Mythology. That. Influences. History. Forever. For KICKS!" I shouted, punctuating each word with a hit. Nik just watched me, not moving even half an inch from the force of my shoves, watching me rage with a small smile on his face.
"I've never seen you like this before, love," he said, his voice silky and low. It only made me want to hit him more. "I quite like it."
"UGH!" I shouted, turning away from Nik all the same. I stared at the desk, my mind finally getting into the later stages of processing. I'd have to completely ditch all this work. "Nik, this is the worst thing you've ever done. And I've dated you long enough to know about the bad things you've done. Holy shit, I'm going to have to ditch so much of this work. I'm going to have to completely change my topic, all because you're fucking ancient and a good artist and a better liar."
After a second, I felt Nik's arms slowly, gently wrap around me from behind. He rested his chin on my shoulder, nuzzling into my hair. Part of me still wanted to hit him, but not enough of me to actually do it.
"I'm sorry, love," he said, voice low and sweet. "Tell me what I can do to make it better."
I huffed a sigh through my nose. "You can tell me where Elijah is. He's a part of this too, I need to kill him next."
Nik chuckled, pulling me tighter to him. I relaxed a little bit into him.
"How about we start with a movie marathon of your choice, all of your favorite junk food, and I dagger any of my siblings who try to disturb you while you're working next week?"
I paused, thinking, dragging out the moment with a little hum. Nik kissed my cheek, slowly moving further along and down towards my neck, and after another minute I sighed.
"Fine. I guess we can start with relaxation and peace. But I am not getting over this any time soon. And I'm still going to attack Elijah the next time I see him."
"It's a deal."
"Of all the things I thought might be a challenge about dating a vampire, I never could've predicted 'destroys my doctoral dissertation by secretly being the subject of my dissertation'."
Nik snorted a little laugh in my ear. "And I never would've thought this would be the closest we came to a deal-braker for you, what with all the murdering I've done."
"I might not be able to claim the high ground on that front much longer."
I twisted around to look pointedly at Nik, but he just smiled right back at me. Wisely, he used his vampire speed to whisk me out of the room before I could look at my ruined dissertation again. This situation was absolutely, completely ridiculous, and I knew I'd probably still be processing for the next few decades. But I loved Nik and the rest of these stupid, lying, ridiculous, ancient vampires, and I'd keep loving them no matter what. Even if I wanted to kill them, sometimes, too.

“So it’s true what they say about Selunites and liquor.”
“What’s that?”
Wyll blinked, seeming to have lost the thread between his comment and Tav’s question. Beside him Karlach snickered loudly into her mug.
“I don’t know,” he finally slurred, morose. “Should I?”
“You brought it up, bud.”
“I did?” Wyll reached one hand up into his hair, gripping, only to be met with a horn instead. Tav saw the exact moment his sloshed mind registered the new-ish appendage without recalling why he had it. They flicked an emergency look at Karlach. She slung an arm around Wyll’s shoulders.
“They say,” she whispered, knocking her head companionably against his, “that they’re lightweights. Eh? Eh?”
Wyll’s mouth made a perfect ‘o,’ then split as he dissolved into giggles. Astarion let out a long-suffering sigh.
“Honestly. Now we know why the Duke never let his offspring drink at social events, don’t we? And Karlach, did you just make that up?”
She toasted Astarion from across the table.
“That’s...” he seemed to chew on his words for a moment. “Not half bad. Lay down your ax and you could have a career in comedy, darling.”
“Ha! You’re the hilarious one.”
Wyll’s laugh was infectious and Astarion was saying something fascinating about the stand-up of two hundred years past, but Tav ignored both as they spotted a familiar figure in their periphery. They subtly raised a hand towards the Elfsong’s bartender and got an equally subtle nod in return. More drinks would appear on their table in due haste—without the requisite coin. Word of their reported heroism had spread across the city, their names exalted even by those who normally distrusted the Baldur’s Mouth, and Tav’s little party had found themselves on the receiving end of numerous offers lately. They’d rejected most out of hand—too easy a method of subterfuge—but free drinks for the night? After the hell that was the foundry? They needed this.
Besides, they were unlikely to find another safe place to indulge anytime soon... and that was assuming they’d all make it out of this war with the Absolute intact. Tav shook the bleak thought away, nodding in thanks as another mug appeared at their elbow. Gale had joined them for the first hour before taking his leave, saying that anything more than a glass of wine was a bit beyond him these days and really, it would be a crime to leave Josen’s The Illustrated Guide to Magically Infused Flora unfinished for the night. Blurg had proven to be quite the recommender of books. Jahira had volunteered as an all-night look out—someone needed to let the kids have their fun—and Lae’zel, to everyone’s surprise, had decided to spend the evening with Halsin. Last Tav had seen he was teaching her the basics of wood carving, a hobby they never would have attributed to the githyanki, though the appeal made a bit more sense once they heard her aspirations to carve the greatest dragon their pathetic world had ever seen.
In short, this was the most peace they’d seen in months and Tav had every intention of hoarding it.
“What do you think?” Astarion said. He was speaking to Karlach but facing Wyll, one hand making a coin disappear and reappear with a finesse that left the drunk warlock enthralled. “What would it take to get Withers to join our little party?”
Karlach hooted, slamming one hand down hard on the table. “Oh, I’d pay to see it! The other patrons’ faces as well. How many undead resurrection peddlers do you think this inn has seen?”
“About as many good cleanings.” Astarion sneered at the grime on their table. He made the coin disappear a final time, leaned over, and wiped his hand on the front of Wyll’s shirt. Wyll just smiled.
“That feels nice," he murmured.
“I’m sure it does, you beautiful man.”
Tav choked on their drink, firmly telling their own muddled mind to remember this image in the morning: Astarion dragging one hand sensually down Wyll’s chest while Wyll beamed the smile of the wasted, perpetually listing to one side so that Karlach was holding him up.
“Does Withers even drink?” they asked, then winced. That image wasn’t nearly as cute. “I offered him food a couple of times and he always gave me this look. You know,” Tav tried to replicate the stoic, yet somehow condescending expression that the skeleton loved to employ. “He doesn’t need to eat, obviously, but does he want to? I think he should. It’s only right, you know? Everyone in the party eats. Withers is a part of the party, so—” They swung the mug to emphasize the importance of this, splashing the table in the process. “Oops.”
“Frankly, I couldn’t care less what that bag of bones does or does not consume, but do you know who is in need of a hearty meal?”
It took Tav a long time—too long—to realize what Astarion’s batting eyes and winning smile were asking for.
“Ohhhh,” they said. “Uh, it’s gonna be strong. I think.”
“Excellent.”
So Tav expertly drained the mug in their hand, palmed a blade, and drew it decisively across the back of their arm, refilling the mug with blood. They gratefully took the rag Karlach handed them as Astarion drank deeply around a sigh.
“Pace yourself,” Tav reminded him.
“Chug it!” Karlach countered.
It didn’t take a seer to figure out who Astarion was going to listen to.
The lull gave Tav a moment to take stock of their own state and they winced at the haziness that had permeated the inn. Karlach had the constitution of an owlbear and it would take at least a few minutes before Tav’s blood had any effect on Astarion, but Wyll now had his forehead pressed to the table, muttering something incomprehensible against the wood. While Shadowheart...
Oh dear.
Tav wasn’t sure when ‘So drunk she couldn’t remember Shar’s name’ had become ‘Full on passed out with a string of drool inching down her chin,’ but Shadowheart had definitely passed into the latter territory. Hesitantly, Tav reached out to give her a poke. Their finger missed her shoulder by an inch. Blinking, shaking their head, they gave it another go and landed somewhere in the vicinity of her collarbone. Shadowheart didn’t move, but the string of drool dropped down to mar her shirt.
“We killed Shadowheart,” Tav whispered.
Astarion leaned into their side, a heavy weight. “Eh?”
“We killed Shadowheart.”
Karlach was across the table in a heartbeat, shoving poor Wyll aside to get an ear near Shadowheart’s chest. A moment later she spluttered out a relieved laugh as her head gently rose and fell with Shadowheart’s breathing.
“Fucking hells, soldier, way to give me a scare! She’s fine, she’s fine. Well, probably not going to be feeling so great come tomorrow, but provided we don’t let her drown in her own vomit she’ll be kicking ass again soon enough.”
“That’s optimistic,” Astarion said, eyeing the puddle of drool Shadowheart was now leaving on the table. “Also: ew. Also, if you—” he pointed a stern finger at Tav, “—ever scare me like that again I will give your favorite shirt to Tara for shredding purposes. My heart just skipped a beat and it hasn't moved in a century! I—wait.” His eyes narrowed. “Gods. Does drinking normally make me admit that all aloud? I can’t remember. Did it used to make me this talkative? Oh fuck, I need more, lest I remember this come morning...”
Tav was shooing their clingy vampire back while Karlach laughed. Shaking her head she stood, tested her own balance against the table, and with a satisfied “Whoop!” bent to pick up Wyll with a single arm. He went willingly—if limply— enough. Tav caught a soft murmur somewhere around Karlach’s waist and then what might have been a sad echo of her ‘Whoop.’ A weak hand lifted to cheer, then fell, scraping the inn floor.
“Alright, you too,” Karlach said and snagged Shadowheart by the back of her shirt—like a mother cat collecting her kitten. Their healer went over her shoulder with all the grace of a potato sack but Tav nodded, feeling very happy with the image.
“Do I need to grow another arm?” Karlach asked, eyeing the two of them skeptically. “Or I can come back down...?”
“We’re perfect, darling, absolutely perfect. Don’t give it a second thought. Though you would look stunning with multiple arms, I'm sure.” Astarion slung his around Tav’s shoulders in a move that let him pull their neck awfully close. Tav planted a sticky hand over his face and ignored the squawk.
“We’re good,” Tav confirmed, then blinked when what came out was a garbled string of consonants and vowels. They glared down at the mug in their hand. When had it turned their lips numb? Stupid mug.
Karlach sighed. “Yeah, I’ll be back in ten. Starting to wonder if those squid bastards specifically went after lightweights...”
She disappeared up the steps to their room, inspiring curious looks and more then one whistle in her wake. Tav felt a giddy emotion bubbling up at the image—which was immediately interrupted by Astarion remembering that he probably shouldn’t drink directly from their neck in a public place, so he poked them—sharply—with the knife instead. Poke poke.
Poke poke poke poke pokepokepokepokepokepoke—
With a growl Tav finally re-filled Astarion's glass, then smacked their lips until they decided to work again.
“We are going to have the mother of all hangovers tomorrow,” they sighed.
It was worth it though, right? Tav forced their meandering mind to focus on the consequences: Gale’s disapproving looks, the mood Shadowheart would not doubt be in the next morning, the fact that there was always the risk that they’d come under attack during the next few hours and Gods, would Tav be useless if it came to a fight. Really, they should do the responsible thing and throw themselves into the nearby fountain, try to sober up abit—
"Yes we are!" Astarion cheered, blood splashing across his shirt, and he smiled. Not a smirk, not a flirty grin, just... a smile. Genuine and bared with the assurance of safety, not false confidence. Tav stared at it for a moment, stunned, before their own smile emerged in response.
One more round. Karlach had said ten minutes, which really meant five—three, probably, considering she was worried about them.
So they'd have to chug it.
Challenge accepted.

ALRIGHT A Question That has been HAUNTING My Mind ever since I Joined the Fandom Is Why Is Husk a Cat? And why did He Dislikes Cats In his Lifetime? + And just How he Grew up and Shit
So I am just Gonna Go on a Rant Here Please Hear me out.
(Some Info For this Theory Is From the Unreliable Wiki so Don't Come at Me of this Individually Is Fauls.)
SO Husk Died in the 1970s When he was Like 75. (AND IF I DID MY MATH RIGHT, PROBABLY IS NOT) He would have been Born in 1895s Or just Late 1800s, (will get Back to this later)
Vivsipop Has also Stated That Husk Is/Has some Russian Origins,
"So what does that Have to do With Anything?"
WELL If you didn't Know Russia Has Lynx's.
A Bigger Cat Species, If you Look on the Lynx's Ears you will see the Little Tufts on Them, If you look on Husks Ears you Can see them To.
Kinda Similar Huh?
My Theory Is that When Husk was Younger He lived In Russia Maybe When he was Like 7-9,
In The 1800, 80 to 85 % Of the Russia Population Were Peasants Husk Being one Them,
So His Poor Family Struggling to Get Mouths fed In a Harsh Winter, Went Hunting with His Father. But on the way He Wondered Off (He would be a 7-9 Year old boy You Cannot expect Much) and On the way Got Attacked By a Lynx.
NOW Something I should Point out is That Lynx's Typically Do Not Attack Humans If not Threatened/Corners So Either Husk Was a Very Stupid Child or This is Just a Weird ass Theory Either way I CARRY ON.)
Husk made it Out Semy Okayish, With Probably The help of His Father Promptly Shooting Said Lynx's But Forever Scard, and Scared of Cats.
"BUT DIDN'T HUSK LIVE IN LAS VEGAS???"
I AM GETTING TO THAT.
After his Family Had To Survive that Whole Ordeal They Probably Decided to Move over to The States To start a New life,

Since there was Famine And Overpopulation. I mean I Would wanna Leave to.
And there They moved to Las Vegas With Husk having A Hatred for Cats that Stuck with Him Until Death, and Now Whoopsies He's a Furry now Yippee.

1- When did you start playing Choices? What was the first book you played?
I downloaded Choices in an extremely terrifying moment of my life in late 2019. I was seeing the ads everywhere and thought that this game might serve as a fairly decent distraction. Well, I wasn’t wrong skfjksjfk
I’m not sure which one was actually the first, but it was either the default TRR or Save The Date promoted at that time.
2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?
My obsession with Open Heart and Ethan Ramsey tied nicely with the release of the second book in 2020. The lockdown allowed me to explore this fictional world further, so I started looking for more content. I found the legendary Denise, aka @justanotherrookie, while lurking on IG. That’s when my long-forgotten Tumblr account came to my mind, and I logged in with the intention of scrolling through the tags to satisfy my EJR thirst.
3- How did you pick your blog name?
Oh, dear…It’s very silly! My skin is extremely pale and I have always been obsessed with music; hence the combo.
Fun fact: this account is quite old (though still not as old as my tumbroke card; I had like three other accounts before this one), and I was slightly embarrassed to enter a new fandom with my dusty aesthetic blog signed by some ominous name, but decided to go with the flow. Then the-pale-goddess has become my brand, and it was too late for any changes–anyone who has changed their URL knows how problematic blogging is afterward.
4- Pull up the first post in your archive, and tell us about it!
My first fandom post was inspired by the frustrating ending of the softball chapter AND the first hiatus announcement…It didn’t age well. As we all know, Ethan & MC didn’t ‘talk about it.’ What’s more, we had to survive a long OH drought before PB decided to resume the second book.
Three years later, the very same shitpost is still the most popular Choices post on my silly little blog lol
5- How long have you been writing fanfiction?
3 years, fanfiction is my pandemic baby! Though I’ve been writing since I was a kid, it was mostly poetry and never in English. But as time passed, I got more occupied with my teenage life and eventually lost motivation to write. That old passion resurfaced several years later, at the beginning of the pandemic. Apart from the obvious need for distraction from the COVID situation, I was frustrated that my English skills were getting rusty, so I decided to dive in.
6- What is your favorite Choices book, and what is your favorite Choices book to write about?
No surprise here: Open Heart (the first book) and Open Heart 😂 I never tried writing about any other Choices book.
7- Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it, or would you change it if you were writing it today?
Miami Heat aka my smutty Miami AU. The concept is brilliant, but the execution…Yikes! I often think of rewriting the entire thing because the writing is amateur at best and my inner perfectionist cringes whenever I think of this mini-series.
8- What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?
It all depends on my mood, so here’s a list of my favorites!
9- Do you have a fic that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to be but found could use a little more love?
Cabin Fever - apparently this 69 plotless smut is iconic for some reason? I don’t really get the hype. It has an insane amount of kudos on ao3, my other fics can’t compare lol
Burnt - Book 1 mutual pining E&T classic and one of my absolute favorites (we’re talking top 3); it could definitely use a little more love!
10- If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?
I’ll shock you all and say that I wish I could write fluff for the rest of my life kjgkdgjkdf But since I suck at it, I’d love to be stuck with angst and a dash of smut.
It’s probably a sad thing to admit, but I feel the most comfortable while writing angst. The realism of pain and the emotions that follow are simply very familiar, and it’s easy for me to conjure up a creative image to match the idea. Besides, there’s so much to explore in the angsty realm: all the flavor, nuance, layers, and symbolism. The possibilities are endless!
Smut doesn’t need an explanation, does it? I live on the thirst street 🤡
11- Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?
I do. That’s probably why Open Heart got me sucked right in–OH MC felt very real and relatable, I couldn’t help but see bits of myself in her. Though we share many traits and experiences, Tiffany definitely isn’t an extension of me. I poured my heart and soul into this woman, but she has become her own person and I try to avoid self-projecting into her character unless there’s a clear purpose.
12- What element of writing do you struggle with most?
Recently, I have been struggling with writing in general lol The internet is ruthless!
My biggest issue is that self-loathing perfectionist who doesn’t let me enjoy the process, nothing seems to be good enough for her, and that attitude dims my motivation and hinders creativity.
On a more technical note, I absolutely suck at describing basic movement. I could churn out a long essay on a character’s internal struggle explaining the most complex emotions or a 4K elaborate smut, but when it comes to finding the right words to portray the simplest action, like walking down the stairs or setting the scene for an early morning conversation at the hospital, I feel lost kdhdkhdkdb
13- Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?
Pretty much all of my WIPs are neglected 🤡 But here are the most important projects I’m hoping to finish at some point in the not-too-distant future:

14- If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?
Since fanfic is based on an existing work of fiction, and the core plotlines and characters should be well-known to the readers, I guess it could be a tedious and confusing read for someone who isn’t involved in the fandom. But then I have received comments from people unfamiliar with OH who have stumbled upon my fics and gave them a chance, so maybe I’m wrong lol
I like to think that I would be okay with sharing my works with someone I know and trust in real life, but let’s be honest: my crippling anxiety would stop me ksjfkjssd However, if I were to pick a fic rec, I’d choose Heaven Upside Down AU because it doesn’t need an extensive OH knowledge. Plus, I’m very proud of this series.
15 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing?
While I try to keep my writing style unique and simply mine, there are three lovely ladies who had a huge impact on my writing journey:
@writinghereandthere (aka an actual genius and my writing role model) was the direct source of inspiration behind my fanfic revelation. I fell in love with Ethan and Mariana, Ana’s beautiful prose, her wit, unparalleled talent, and fantastic characterization. Her writing changed the trajectory of my life. Though she left the fandom long ago, her masterlist is a must-read for everyone, trust me! (Ana, if you’re reading this: I miss you more than words can convey. Sorry for the spam I leave in your inbox every now and then skgjksgjk Hope to hear about your original work soon ❤️)
@starrystarrytrouble & @terrm9 - these two literary geniuses have inspired me to follow my own writing path and develop a distinctive style. Their masterpieces offer poetic, raw emotions, encouraging me to allow myself more creative freedom. I’m in constant awe of their unmatched talent and come back to their works whenever I want to feel things ❤️
16- Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series?
Can I have all of them, please?
I would pay all my money to watch a TV series based on my canon OH plotline…I’m not kidding, I even made a bunch of Netflix edits because I need it in my life. On the other hand, my precious AUs would look amazing on the big screen! The most scrumptious one still hasn’t left my head though, so you have to trust me–the cinematic potential is truly there kdgjkdgjk
17- Do you write original fiction?
I have a few ideas, but they’re so complex I’m stuck on the outlining phase. Mayhaps one day?
18 - What other hobbies do you have?
I’m a certified music freak and a cinephile. I practice destroying male egos on a daily basis. I love photography, niche sports, playing with my dog, lifting people’s moods, random unhinged facts, and ignoring reality, and I have just entered my skincare expert era.
19 - What’s your favorite emoji?

Hmmm. It can serve a purpose in the right situation. I don't think I would do it without consulting with someone who speaks the language.

Ok. Well... published, it's Gallavich. If we are talking about stuff I wrote just for personal enjoyment, my very first foray many, many years ago was in adding to Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar book series.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Currently 144, most of which are one-shots but my amount of multi-chapter fics has been increasing lately. They're fun!
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
666,595 words.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
At the moment, Good Omens is my main, but other fandoms I've written a LOT for are The Owl House, Modern Family, Nimona, and Puss in Boots. I've written a lot of one-off stories for different fandoms all across the board, such as Loki, Spider-Man ATSV, Heartstopper, and The Umbrella Academy.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
into the light of the dark black night (Nimona) which also had a work inspired by it here, The Child Soldier (TOH) which is also my second most read fic, learning to love again (Nimona), bloodshed crimson clover (Nimona), and shackled conscience (TOH)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do, every time!! I love comments and I think that responding to them even it's something as simple as a thank-you and a heart encourages readers to comment more! I love my readers and want them to know that they are appreciated.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Probably a ventfic I wrote about Barney from Dead End: Paranormal Park, but for a more general one, but i might be hopin' about this (oh, what a sin) (Good Omens), which I actually originally wrote to be exclusively a Tumblr thing but it expanded to the point that I figured I might as well post it, haha.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I mean, I've written WAY too many fluff stories of Modern Family, so a lottt of those, but also That Lovely Autumn Serenade (The Owl House) really sticks out to me, it's one of the first pieces I did for Huntlow and probably the first all-fluff piece I did, and I went back and edited it late last year. It's cute!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I have, actually! Several times. I've been told that I write relationships to be too codependent in stories where said codependence is always addressed as being unhealthy and is corrected into a healthier dynamic. I've been told that diagnosing someone with ASD in 2007 is ableist because the term ASD wasn't used by the DSM at the time, something that is entirely false. I have been told that the power set I gave to a god-tier-level-of-power character was wrong, and told that I should delete my entire fic because it was so wrong - which it was not. I've also gotten bots on my fics before!
I find it all quite amusing. Especially the ASD person because I responded with a multiple-paragraph explanation of the DSM's system of diagnosing in 2007 that I had researched for the fic in question. They, of course, never responded.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Absolutely I do. Most of it is kept private in the very depths of my google docs, but I have uploaded a few, all M/M and usually very praise kink-oriented. I have also uploaded 2 anonymously. guard thy mouth, thy serpent’s tongue (Good Omens) is both my favorite and most recent.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Nope, no crossovers, but I've definitely gotten inspiration from other media, such as the play Orestes and the episode Save the Cat from SPOP most notably.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I have! how did you two meet? (Puss in Boots) has been translated into Russian!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I have not.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Currently, it's absolutely Ineffable Husbands (Aziraphale x Crowley, Good Omens), and I have written nearly 150,000 words already for them in the short few months I've been in the fandom, all of which can be found here.
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Askdjskdjkhfgh I have so many unfinished Modern Family fics since I fell out of that hyperfixation,,, but other than that I don't really have many unfinished fics that aren't smut that are my private Thoughts. I do have an old OLD Raeda fic that I found recently that I might finish just because I LOVE the TOH fandom, and writing for it was always so fun because the readers are very interactive and kind, but! We shall see. It's .... not very good.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue for sure, and I'm also very good at writing gory scenes and descriptions in general, as long as I don't get long-winded about it. I actually once wrote a little 'lesson' on dialogue and how to write it for a friend, and if you might find that helpful, feel free to check it out here. I'm also great at not getting too worked up over the imperfections of the first draft.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
ENDINGS. Fucking endings, Jesus Christ I cannot write endings. Also descriptions, I get way too strung out on them and then they go on forever and never stop. Also using way too many commas and dashes; I get way too obsessed with how things look and not how it reads.
Also also - titles. Summaries. Fuuuucking tags. Titles.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I've used bits of Spanish in my fics for TOH and PIB, but I always run it through a reliable translator (DeepL) and then add a note giving 1) the translations and 2) telling anyone who speaks the language to PLEASE correct me on anything, which people often do!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The Lucifer fandom, way back in 2021! I wrote a redemption arc story for Michael. I edited it in full (rewrote it, really) last year because I will be completely honest, it was garbage. But I enjoyed that story and it's still my most read to this day.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
I have several, actually.
brought by the sunlight of the spirit (to pour into rain) (Good Omens) - if you do read this one, it can be VERY VERY VERY TRIGGERING, so take care. It's a heavy story, but one that was very cathartic for me. The premise is Crowley being tortured in the worst way by Hell, and Aziraphale helping to 'fix' what Crowley thinks is so broken.
Pull Up the Ladder When the Flood Comes (Good Omens) - Crawley saving children in Mesopotamia, and Aziraphale coming to his aid while struggling with immense religious trauma. Another one that was extremely cathartic for me, which is why I hold it so near and dear.
Butterfly Tattoo (Modern Family) - also can be VERY triggering (there's a common theme here, isn't there?), this is an AU story where Mitchell runs away in 1989 and struggles for a long time before coming to be happy and to love himself, and the story follows him as he reunites with his sister and father after 20 years of no contact. I did an inane amount of research for this fic and it's the longest I've ever written, clocking at around 50,000 words.
shackled conscience (TOH) - again, trigger-heavy. Pre-s2 Darius stumbles across Hunter bleeding out in the castle and tries taking care of him. Not a happy ending story, but there are a couple of brief sweet exchanges between the two.

my friend said that my writing felt nostalgic and like heheh that makes me feel proud!! smth abt how i desc scenes, so i think that's a thing i'm really proud of !!

i think the fact that i don't like rereading is a big weakness because i'll read it again after a long ass time and then see so many errors!! I think i have a lot of run on sentences, too!!

i don't think i'm too confident on writing dialogue in another language!! I would probably just put it in italics and say its being done hhh or if i do, then i'd want it checked by someone who speaks it

Why I started...
This small piece of nonsense for some, word for others has been a long time coming. And it all dials back to why did I join Tumblr? Why this fandom? Why am I still here?
All three are very valid questions. So let’s answer shall we.
Why did I join?
Well...*grandma style and insert grandma voice* back in 2018 when I first opened this blog it was for an entirely different fandom, specifically Yu Yu Hakusho, but ultimately it was for the same reason I am here today. To write.
I remember the old days like it happened yesterday.
I remember falling in love with @luckystarchild and her absolute perfect thousands not hundred word chapters I could never live up to but always wanted to. I remember wanting to have the same passion as @tv-writes-ff and always falling short but loving her work. I remember the emotions and delight from reading @cynfoladventures and the support I got from @urushibara-may and the utter joy from getting to meet her in person. @1nerdygurl please, go and read and you will be in awe. @o-dragon05 and her amazing story and love for the fandom? Yes please. Want dark and haunting and also another yes please, check out @agrinsosardonic, you will not be disappointed.
Absolute pillars in the fandom.
And guess what? Some took months, years to get back or they didn’t. And it still stuck to my brain what they wrote and what they did. And it was...I can’t find the proper words...amazing...and people stuck to it and believe it in and in them.
Why this fandom?
I started fanfiction out of love for anime.
I did move on with my last work for YYH title What does the fox say.
From there I moved on towards another old love. Not for the support for JKR, no. For the love of magic. For enchantment. For writing even more. For reminding me of older but better times when even in the real world magic seemed to work, even for a skeptic, black souled, dark coffee lover like me.
And I created shorts, entire stories like Late Night Enchantments, Late night curses, Carnage Circus and many more.
Why am I still here?
Good fucking question.
Not for a lot, let’s be honest.
But at the moment I have a few reasons, some have names, some don’t.
1. Talia Crane - who taught me resilience beyond belief and to go on despite all odds
2. Leila Mya Hellebore - for the love of family (the fandom) for going on despite everything
3. Jin Watanabe - for the love of knowledge i might never use and despite that still love and for the sass
4. Gareth Farr - for trying when the world is tearing you apart, for unexpected love
5. Angela King - for the small spark of light in me and offering a bit of trust hoping something good will come out of it
6. Victoria Summer - for the perfect girls that are forced to be like that because of society but find a way around it
7. Scarlett Tempest - for the i don’t give a fuck portion and don’t take any shit but also strong underneath all that
8. Jonathan Dante King - for trying new things and for courage
9. For me. Just for me.
Enjoy it people. Fandoms aren’t forever unless we make it good.
You aren’t above and beyond, we’re in it together.
We all do good and bad, but in the end we’re here.
Try it out for what it is, not what your personal grievances are.

Usually!!! Sometimes, I'll get behind by not responding for like a year though, and then I'll be like.......it's been too long.

I don't necessarily do angsty endings, but probably "a matter of going through" because it ends with heavily implied reconciliation that doesn't quite get actualized.
7. What the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I ALSO don't tend to do like, cookie-cutter happy endings. Usually I go for the, everything's still hard but we'll get through it together, endings. But probably, the path to peace (is paved with good intentions).
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I got that one weird anon I mentioned for the Upside-Down AU, and then I got one person on one of my fics where a pizza delivery driver falls in love with a customer telling me that it was problematic because the driver has no agency. And I was like, lol this is fanfiction and I AM a delivery driver.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I've written exactly ONE unpublished smut fic for Alice Quinn from The Magicians in which her evil counterpart came through the mirror and they fucked about it. I'm thinking of doing a one-shot smut fic for the Upside-Down AU though.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Closest I've gotten is me and a friend plotting out the unholy union of I Am In Eskew and The Penumbra Podcast (Juno Steel).

14. What's your all time favorite ship?
As an aromantic person, the platonic ships are usually more important to me. First ones that come to mind are platonic stobin, and from the Untamed, Jiang Cheng & Wei Wuxian who are brothers. Honestly, I usually get sucked into romantic pairings because I'm like, wow, sure would love to see these two interract more! And then all the fanfic is romantic, so that's what I read!!!
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Definitely my one where Jiang Cheng from The Untamed sees ghosts. If you've watched that show, you understand how this would be both hilarious and deeply fucked up.
16. What are your writing stregths?
I think I'm pretty good at little moments. Like when everyone is having a meal together etc, small, contained scenes.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Getting from point A to point B, like, how do I skip through time without if seeming weird????? So, joining sentences?
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I've never done it, but I think it can serve its purpose. Unless you speak the language though, I think it can veer into offensive and clunky unless you get a translator.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
The Magicians, which broke my soul enough that I wrote a crack fic about it.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
My favorite is always my current obsession, so Upside-Down AU lol, but from what's published, it's definitely two million naturally occuring sweet things which is just a tretius on grief masquerading as a soup recipe.

hello! sorry if this is weird but i recently joined the ud fandom (only 9 years late 😬) and i hopped on the subreddit and found your posts - your comments are my absolute favorite!! your analyses are super insightful and i love that you love chris as much as i do (my fave boy!) 🥰 if this is out of place please ignore, but otherwise i wanted to ask about some of your chris/ud character headcanons if that's okay!

Oh cool! I’m flattered you like my Until Dawn posting there 😃. And ohmygoshyeah Chris is my boy! I think there’s a ton of really cool characterization with him, Josh, and Sam. Also I just support his hopes and dreams!
First question: 1) Computer/Technology, 2) math, 3) science, 4) language arts (he got into AP Eng to be with Ashley imo, but it’s not naturally his strong suit), 5) history, 6) art, 7) music, 8) climbing class gym.
Second question: I’m gonna say yes because I relate to Chris, and I break out when I’m stressed and if I don’t keep a skincare routine 😂. I feel like he likes his skin and hair because he has that really intentional, dorky fauxhawk. He thinks he’s cool and wants to come across that way. So he’d have decent skincare and get really nervous if he flares up because what will Ashley everyone think?!
Third question: I feel like they’re 100% together post game because, when things were getting deadly, they both massively regretted never confessing. I think that feeling of regret would stick with them, and they’d try to stay together through therapy and whatever else. I think they get only mildly flirty in public but are super affectionate in private. They’re used to the idea of it after kissing in the lodge.
Fourth question: Honestly it’s hard to put this in a specific order. But I’ll do roughly what I think and say why! 1) Jess just because she’s supposedly a huge party animal (but she’d want Mike next to her). 2) Sam likes coasters. She’s an adventurous gal. 3) Josh loves to have intense fun too. He’s a huge partier, and I think he’d be SUPER interested in the way they’re built and how the builders achieved maximum intensity. He’d also be HYPED to go as a group. But he might have a hard time with them on bad mental health days. 4) Mike likes going on them with whomever his girfriend at the time is so that he looks confident and impressive. 5) Matt. He seems like he’d like the rush. 6) Emily thinks they’re dumb but goes on them with the others and holds a straight face the whole time. 7) Ashley gets scared on them. She’s the girl you can hear high-pitched screaming on any coaster 8) Chris. Honestly I just head-canon him not going on them due to this post making me really laugh! But I think it’s somewhat accurate that Chris doesn’t like being jostled or dealing with minorly inconvenient things but then would absolutely storm Hell for you 😂. He went all in trying to save Sam from the Psycho then went on a potentially fatal quest to save Josh from Wendigos.

In Memory of Alexander aka Technoblade.
It doesn't feel like it but it's been an entire year without Techno, and to honour his legacy i thought I'd write a little something.
I first got into the Dream Smp a while after the first Major War the war for L'Manburgs freedom. One of my best friends who was staying with me showed me a Manhunt Video of Dream. I didn't even know who he was and i wasn't super interested in Minecraft at the time but i ended up watching the video anyway if only to make my friend happy. The next day when she left i found a short clip of Tubbo who changed his language to German and as a German person myself it made me laugh. That was the time i got into the fandom.
A few months later i came across Technoblade for the very first time, i was at the lowest point in my life at the time, I'd lost all will to live and i felt like a husk of my former self, but somehow Techno's Jokes and attitude made me smile even though i thought i couldn't anymore. The Potato War series was the video i came across and I watched the entire thing because he made me laugh. He made me feel alive again, he made me feel as though my anger and frustration and sadness was valid. I continued watching his videos while keeping up with the Dream SMP when i figured out he joined i basically only watched his POV, I'd be there for every single stream no matter how late it was or how mundane the things he did were. I was a lurker just enjoying hearing his voice in the background while doing something.
And over time i started to get invested in the Lore of his Character, what he stood for and i became invested in the friends he had on the Server. I kept up to date on everything Technoblade, i regularly checked his twitter and watched and re-watched his Videos. I remember when everything went quiet on his end, i was worried, i knew i shouldn't be because he was just a streamer who I'd become attached to but i couldn't help myself. When he posted the video where he explained why he was gone I breathed a huge sigh of relief. I was so happy to see that he was ok, that relief only lasted until he broke the news of getting cancer. At that time my personal life was getting busier as well i didn't have as much time anymore but i tried to keep up-to-date on what was going on. When there was more silence i found myself worried again, but I didn't have the time to worry about what was going on but the thoughts were in the back of my mind basically 24/7 by that time.
I remember the day when i found out about Techno's death like it was yesterday, i was at my schooling, I'd just arrived a few minutes prior and since we still had some time to kill i decided to open Tumblr, the first thing i saw was a picture one of my mutuals posted, I don't remember the exact text but it said something along the Lines of Fly High king. It had Technos crown and sword. I didn't even read the tags under the picture, my heart felt like it had just dropped down to my stomach, i immediately went to his twitter to check for anything, i found nothing, then i went to Google and that was when it got real. I was shown an article about his death and the Video his father posted. I immediately jumped to his Chanel and watched it.
The moment i saw the black Thumbnail and the Title "So Long Nerds" i was in tears, i watched the video but couldn't even make it half way through without sobbing. At some point one of my teachers noticed i was crying and offered me to go take a breather Which i did. I don't think it exactly settled what that Video meant at that time, and the rest of the day was a blur at best. I couldn't watch the entirety of the Video for another 3 months no matter how hard i tried at some point i broke down crying.
I felt like i didn't deserve to mourn Technoblade, I'd never known him personally, I'd only ever known him as Technoblade the Minecraft Anarchist it felt wrong to mourn him so i kept quiet about it. A little while after my 19th birthday i got a tattoo to remember him by, because he'd played a huge part in helping me recover even if he didn't know it. And ever since then every time i got sad about Techno i look at my Tattoo and think "he'd probably laugh about me being sad" and that makes me smile.
I'm thankful that i got to be apart of the community, I'm thankful that i got to experience technoblade. I'm thankful for every single moment i watched his Videos, I'm thankful for the fact that he was what helped me out of my darkest times and while i never got to know him beyond the YouTuber he was I'm still thankful that i got to have the chance to know him as that. I don't know where i would be now if i hadn't discovered Technoblade when i did I wouldn't have made half of the friends i have now.
So thank you Techno, thank you for being there for me even without knowing, thank you for your wonderful videos that always seemed to brighten my days.

I signed up for Inu-Spiration and am definitely looking forward to participating in Inuvember! I'm honestly biting off more than I can chew here, since I will be participating in NaNoWriMo as well and dedicating it to working on an InuKag Bodyguard AU I've been dying to start for years now.
I've never participated in InuSecretSanta before, but it seems like a lot of fun, so there's a 70% chance I'll join. The Sugar and Spice Event also looks like a blast, but I'm not sure if I'll be creating for that one yet. If I survive November, I'll let you know. 😅
I usually don't participate much in writing events, but lately I've found that the pressure of having a deadline motivates me to write and gets the creative juices flowing. That's why I've just been going for it and throwing myself into events lately.
I just completed Sins Week 2022 with 7 SessSan ficlets and am currently trudging through Flufftober which I'm dedicating to MidoKirin (doing all 31 days, baby!!!).

Hi Anon! Thanks for asking for so many, they're really fun to answer.
7 & 8: Why and when did I join the fandom?
Why - I'd heard about criminal minds quite a few times so I was sort of interested but not quite enough to tip me over into watching it. I think what did it was when I heard some people in my psychology class talking about it and thought why not? since so many people seemed to love it. Especially Reid. I went in expecting Reid to be my favourite... though we all know how that went.
When - spring/summer 2020! There were lockdown restrictions and online school so I had a lot of free time. I know it can't have been too late into the year because I posted my first fanfic after finishing season 2. The one I said I'd go back and edit and still haven't gotten around to it lol.
10 - What song do you associate with a ship?
The first ship which comes to mind is (unsurprisingly) Hotchgan. And actually I have more songs I associate with characters than ships - I should probably try and organise some playlists at some point - but the first one off the top of my head for them:

I know we always say we found BTS when we most needed them and that's a really sweet way to think in my opinion and yet I still get sad because I wasn't able to find them sooner. It especially gets hard when I see tweets like "this was released 5 years ago" or "they did this 7 years ago" and I feel so lethargic because I wasn't there to experience these things with them. To me it will always just be a tweet about something I couldn't experience myself... I know I shouldn't think like this because I found them now and they are with me.. But these kind of thoughts are always in my mind I guess. Even if I don't think about this daily because I just enjoy the contents and the music and whatever they choose to share with us, sometimes I can't help but feel this way. I know a lot of newer army feel this way and I'm not alone in this. I really feel like a missed out on a lot of things now with them going solo music-wise. I really feel like I missed out on the concerts, on experiencing comebacks, vlives, promotions, music shows, them achieving new things and breaking into the music industry, getting awards.. /1

/2 And if I can be really honest with you I am afraid that this is the end. I know they said they don't want to disband and this is not it and I want to believe them, but I am so afraid that these 10 years were too much for them. That the way their fame grew rapidly and the pressure got bigger, it's just too much for them. I wouldn't blame them for trying to do other things, because while I can't fully understand what it's like to live their life, I can imagine the stalking, the harassment, cameras everywhere, watching every step they take, waiting for a scandal.. I can imagine it's very exhausting. And I wouldn't blame them, you know? I think this fear is the reason why I feel so awful sometimes about joining so late. I think about this recent comeback and the message they gave us, and then I think about all the things I have missed out that I will potentially never experience. But I want to believe them. I trust them unconditionally and I want to believe them I just don't know how to shake off this feeling. I really don't want to seem like someone who already gave up on them. I just really don't know how to deal with this situation in my head. And I'm not writing because I am waiting for an answer or solution from you. I just don't have anyone in my life who could listen to me ramble about seven men. I know you joined the fandom around when the pandemic started or in 2020, right? Do you ever feel this way?
I know how you feel anon. I understand :( I used to feel the same when I joined the fandom. There were so many things that I hadn't experienced and when i used to see people talking about some specific thing, I used to be like damn i wish i was here back then. But it gets better trust me. Because there are still numerous new things that are left to happen and will happen again in the future. Yes they went solo music wise but that just means seven comebacks for us to experience. right? and there will be concerts in the future as well. One of them is happening in october itself 🥺💖 And I get what you mean but I'll just say that we should trust bangtan on this :( That's what I'm doing. After the dinner party video released, they've repeatedly told us that things were lost in translation in that video and they're not disbanding and this is not the end. Jungkook himself said that there's still a lot that they want to do as a group. Namjoon said that he always wants to be RM of BTS. So just trust them when they say they're gonna come back 🥺🥺 I think it was very necessary for them to start their solo endeavours because it's been a long time that they have stayed as a group. But starting solo endeavours doesn't always have to mean that it's the end for the group. And yes ofcourse even I used to feel like that when I joined the fandom. But then I used to spend my free time watching their content and stuff and that feeling sort of started to fade away you know? and as more time passed i kept feeling more and more immersed into the fandom to the point that it doesn't affect me anymore. I'm like okay I wasn't here for <insert this particular thing> but I was here for a lot of other things. As time passes it will be the same for you I'm sure! so hang in there hehe. We have a long road to go 💖 (I'm sorry for taking a while to reply to this. Didn't get a lot of free time.)

1- When did you start playing Choices? What's the first book you played?
I started playing Choices sometime around 2017. While playing another game on my phone, I got curious after seeing some strangely funny adds about the app. I remember that the first time I logged into the game it asked me the kind of story I wished to play and I think the first book it suggested was Rules of Engagement. So, I guess that was the first one… but I remember the first ones I really enjoyed playing were the LoveHacks series and HSS.
2- When and why did you join Choices fandom?
For a while I had read fanfics on AO3 and then found out about Tumblr, I created my own account in October 2018 with the intention of reading fanfics. So, I officially joined the Choices fandom on Tumblr around October or November 2018, after spending a few times only reading fanfics, getting to know how Tumblr worked and following some of my favorite writers at the time and reading news and theories about the books, until I eventually posted my own fanfics and started interacting more with others fans and creators.
3- How did you pick your url name?
My url name was inspired by one of my favorites movie characters: Amelie Poulain.
4- Go back to your archive and tell us about the first post on your Choices blog.
It was something totally unrelated to Choices lol I was still getting used to Tumblr and the first post was probably something about cats or a meme I think… (Tumblr app won't let me see my archive)
5- How long have you been writing fanfiction?
I started in late 2018. I had recently found out about fanfiction during many sleepless nights nursing my baby daughter and read a ton of fics from another fandom… and since I had stopped writing content for my best friend's maternity blog but was still excited about writing, the idea of writing one story of mine sounded appealing, and still does. Four years later, and I'm still here, even if real life has left me little time to write fanfic this past year ☺️
6- What is your favorite Choices book to write about?
My favorite book to write is definitely Desire & Decorum, though I enjoy writing for Blades and Wake the Dead too.
7- Share the first fanfic you wrote with us. Do you still like it or would you change anything about it?
The first chapter of my series, The Pursuit of Happiness - was the first fanfic I ever wrote. I still like it and am proud of it. Of course, as a perfectionist, there are a ton of things I'd change (and I have fidgetted with it many times since it was originally posted, lol), but I like to think that as my first attempt at writing a fictional story after too many years of only writing academic and professional texts it was a good start and I'm happy I overcame my fears and posted and allowed people to read it even if it was not perfect. When I read those initial chapters now, I can see how much I have learned and developed my craft, and I'm happy about this. Besides, this first chapter was an opportunity to get in touch with other Desire & Decorum fans, and it was an amazing experience with how supportive and kind people can be in this fandom ❤️
8- What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?
OMG! Asking me to pick one is like asking a mother to pick a favorite child lol I can't, so I'm cheating and picking two - one for each of my favorite books: Run to You, a Desire & Decorum one shot and Heart in a Cage, a Blades one shot.
9- Do you have a fic that you didn’t expect to be well received, but it was? What about one you expected to be but could use a little more love?
Definitely, Like Poetry, this Blades one-shot is so out of my style and different from everything else I've posted on Tumblr. It has a lot of angst and deals with the dilemmas of a relationship between a human and an elf, and mortality is the main subject, and I have experienced a different kind of narrative, but the readers really enjoyed it, and I was happy I posted it.
Well, I can't complain. I have a small blog and mostly write for a pairing that is not the most popular in the fandom; despite those facts, I have received so much support and love from readers, but if I could pick one fic that I'd like to receive more love would be the miniseries Is This Love? , because it was special to create a backstory for my Desire & Decorum MC Elizabeth before she became Lady Elizabeth and heiress of Edgewater, and address some subjects I really wanted to deal with but were mostly hinted at in The Pursuit of Happiness, and writing the relationship between Elizabeth and her mother Mary and the friendship with Briar was truly special to me.
10- If you could write only angst, fluff, or smut for the rest of your writing life, which would it be and why?
Fluff. No question. I love writing romantic tropes and happy endings, so fluff it is l, especially to my OTP Elizabeth and Hamid ☺️
11- Do you ever recognize yourself in any of your MCs or in your writing?
My MCs are not versions of myself, but I do recognize some traits and aspects of myself, specially in my Desire & Decorum OC Elizabeth Foredale, like myself, she's Brazilian, and sometimes there are references like in her speech pattern in informal situations and the use of slang or calling even the LI "dude" that are very me. There are some subjects and options, like Elizabeth being a law student, that echo my life and experience…
12- What element of writing do you struggle with most?
It usually depends. But since English is not my first language, sometimes I struggle with descriptions and finding suitable vocabulary and metaphor and creating sentences with a structure that makes sense in English, and since my references are in another language some of my cultural references have no translation or make no sense outside my country. Also I tend to be too wordy and sometimes it's hard to keep the pace flowing as it should, and it takes some time and work during editing to correct that.
13- Do you have any neglected work you really want to finish?
Yes, I do have a lot of stories in my drafts and a long list of WIPs that I wish to finish, and alas, I had the time and motivation to finish them all. I will list three in particular that I have posted in the first chapter and are on my priority list to finish: Bonds of Sea and Fire, I love writing for Tyril and Arwen (f!elf!MC), and I have lots of drafts, but never found time and inspiration to continue the series; Love Thy Neighbour, it's an AU where Elizabeth and Hamid are neighbours at London, and it's a fluff story about destiny and falling in love when you least expect; and Desire & Decorum & Zombies, it's a gothic supernatural AU where zombies are real, and the MC, who is the heiress to Edgewater has to struggle to fit in this new world of nobility, uncover mysteries and literally fight for her life. Three are very different stories, but all have a place in my heart.
14- If someone you know in real life (who isn’t involved in fandoms) asked to read your work, would you let them? If yes, what would you recommend they read first?
I don't know!! Maybe depending on who this person would be. 🫣 I am very self-conscious about my writing, and only my husband knows that I write fanfic and has read a few of my works… but if it was someone I trusted and was unfamiliar with Choices, I would recommend Like Poetry or the miniseries Safe, because not knowing the characters wouldn't be an obstacle and I'm proud of my writing in those stories.
15 - Are there any writers (published authors and/or fanfic writers) who influenced your writing? I think everything I've read in my life has made an impact on my writing, even if it taught me what or how I didn't want to write and tell my stories. I've read many Brazilian writers, and I love Machado de Assis and his sense of humor, and I know I've incorporated elements of his style into mine, especially when writing historical fics like my Desire & Decorum series; and there are so many other published authors like Jane Austen and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry who also influenced my storytelling. As for fanfic writers, there are definitely some who influenced me. In the Choices fandom, @lorirwritesfanfic was a huge influence. Her Desire and Decorum AU was the inspiration for my series Second Chances, without reading her fics I don't think I would have ventured into creating my own contemporary days AU; another inspiration was @/pixieferry. Her style was amazing and poetic and filled with references unfortunately, she's no longer active in the fandom, but I still think about her fics.
16- Which one of your stories would you most like to see as a movie/series?
Second Chances! I can totally see it as a rom-com or a series, and I have my dream cast for it ❤️
17- Do you write original stories?
I write original stories. I have written a couple of things when I was a teen, mostly short stories, and have in my drafts two stories I'd like to turn into novels that I started writing during the pandemics and world building for those truly excite me.
18 - What other hobbies do you have?
I'm an amateur photographer, but I haven't really dedicated myself to this for a while for lack of time, and I like drawing and doing all sorts of craft work with my daughter.
19 - What’s your favorite emoji?
This face ☺️ - I use it a lot!

Writing fanfic has been a nice hobby and means to improve my skills, which is something great for anybody that would like to someday be a published author. But most importantly, I think are the people I got to befriend in the Choices fandom and how much I've learned along the way (which has been so much more than I thought I would gain from playing this silly game when I first started ☺️); each comment has meant so much either to help me improve or to encourage me to keep on writing. So, I just wanted to thank each and every one of you who has read my fics and taken a moment from your time to give me feedback, and my lovely friends who have beta read my fics and cheered me on when writer's block or imposter syndrome was in the way of writing, @princess-geek, @lorirwriesfanfic, and @noesapphic, you guys are amazing and have my gratitude ❤️
