Masterlist
Princess Amentia of Downland (Queen in 4Kids dub), first appearing S2E4, is the ruler of a small kingdom of people called Trog (which I have a few problems about that we’ll talk on later). She is a dominant, perfectionist that falls madly in love with Brandon, Stella’s boyfriend. She serves as a minor conflict and minor ally to the Winx against Darkar. And while I think Amentia is a unique character that should’ve been explored more, she is also written off as a pitch poor portrayal of women in positions of power and borders on racist stereotypes. It’s unfortunate that I’ve yet to see any posts or articles talking about the inappropriate portrayal of her character and her people.
Not only is she a powerful ruler, she is also an impressive warrior, and so are many of her people. Despite their impressive nature, she and her soldiers are written as brainless brutes. Especially the soldiers. This is a common portrayal of unfortunately several brown people, but especially Indians & Arabians (also Natives, with how they’re written as savage and uncivilized) All of these cultures are stereotyped as being controlling, the same way Princess Amentia is. But I specifically want to talk about her being a woman in a position of power first.
In the world of Winx we don’t often get female rulers, which is strange as the Magic Realm has various societies and cultures but for some reason they’re all Kingdoms? Another rant for another day. But my point still stands, she is, other than the Queen of the Earth fairies, the only female ruler and indisputably the only female warrior. Yet, she’s controlling and doesn’t understand the idea of consent. She’s selfish, self-centered, and uses her position as a way to, frankly, just be a bitch to everyone. While she has good qualities, like being a strong strategist and, of course, fighter. She’s written so shallowly for the sake of being a low-stake conflict instead of a fully-rounded character. It’s sad to see the only woman in power to be written in such a bitchy way as many women with positional power are viewed.
It’s also gross with the way they solved this conflict by forcing her to fall in love with someone else without her consent nor the work necessary to make a happy couple. I know one of the dubs made it where she realized Sponsus is her soulmate instead of falling in love with him on the spot, but I’ve always hated the soulmate trope because, in this case, it just feels like an easy fix.
Tumblr media
Now onto the stereotypes, it was always something I noticed even as a child. It’s clear the Trog is a weird mix of Aztec & Orientalist aesthetics. Amentia wears what looks like a dupatta in her military outfit (a strange contrast to her immodest outfit which goes against the usage of the dupatta). She also wears a bindi or a Tilaka, which personally I think it is more of, which isn’t specifically a problem but helps to prove the Trogs are pulling from Indian asesthetics. Her and the other female Trogs dress in what looks like bellydancing costumes or vaguely Aztec costumes. And while I don’t have a problem with her or the Trogs being inspired by various cultures, the fact that they’re portrayed as savages leaves a sour taste when paired with their outfits being poor, sexualized versions or shallow depictions of real cultures.
Not to mention the forced marriage conflict, is strange. I get using arranged marriages as conflict, this happens in several series, it literally happens multiple times in Winx alone. But it feels downplayed for how uncomfortable Brandon was and for how often Amentia forced herself on him. And while this may be a stretch, it just looks like they’re minimizing female-initiated sexual assault and harassment.
Lastly, the name Trog. This is literally an insult in the english language, it being a shortened version of Troglodyte. It’s already a shitty move to name a species after an insult but to have these stereotypes on top of it, is so much worse.
Tumblr media
Amentia deserved to be taken seriously as a character and not a gross interpretation of women in power, her being aggressive and forceful are not what make a powerful woman powerful. She deserved to learn how to fall in love and not to pick a suitor based on looks or her perfectionist ideas. Her people deserved to stand as interesting characters without being stereotypical or shallow. Also it would’ve been great to see her pop up again in later seasons, especially S3. As one of the only kingdoms that doesn’t use magic it would’ve been interesting to see where she stood against Valtor.
There is so much that could’ve been done with her personality and a character in her position, yet they threw them in for low-stake conflict and filler content.
In short, Princess Amentia deserved better.

I got tagged by @rosie-love98 on this:
Tag 9 People you want to get to know better
Thank you and sorry, that it took me so long!
3 ships:
Okay, since I’m tagged on this tumblr account I’ll first go with WINX of course.
1. Driven (Darcy x Riven - Winx Club)
I’ll say it over and over again – they’re perfect. THE POTENTIAL: OMG: If Rainbow had be braver and didn’t focus SO much on Bloom, they could’ve added such an angsty storyline. They build the grounding but never made it to detail and that’s a shame. I may repeat myself, but Darcy was the first one to listen to Riven. To really listen and maybe even the first person after a long time to actually care for him. Of course, she is beautiful and she used that beauty to enchant him but what mattered in the end was that Riven finally found someone who was really interested in him. Someone who saw his ambition and talent. Someone who didn’t see the sparkly outside of perfect Sky and Brandon but who saw this man, who I bet went trough a lot to achieve the right to study at Red Fountain. Finally, someone interested in the one who trained hard to be where was and who wasn’t privileged like other people. Another thing I love about them is the trust and faith Riven had in Darcy who.. in the end destroyed that YES THANKS RAINBOW.  I mean, he never questioned her even though he knew that the Trix’ plans were evil. He did not care about that. Only for her. The betrayal must have been hard. But what about Darcy? How did she feel? Well, we never saw it but regarding her character she might be an overthinker who thinks everything through, who is afraid to show her true self. Darcy seems to be the one who is afraid of losing control and of being betrayed herself. So better destroy than get destroyed? I’m sure she opened up to Riven to some extend and got caught by her own fear of losing control and then overreacted. Maybe. Who know. But the thing is that their end came completely out of the nowhere and I wished the writers had focused a bit more on that instrad of making a cut so that another fairy had a love interest by the end of season 1. It also should have been more focus on their relationship in the following seasons. (I miss the longing stares omg. We could have so much angsty drama!) I think the end of the relationship was not easy for both of them. Darcy lost everything at the end of season 1 and I’m sure she questioned herself a lot after it. Like, what would have happened if etc. And Riven, even more broken than before. What did he think? It’s no secret, that most characters in this show need therapy but these two? Couple therapy maybe lol (now this was long, but that’s when I talk about ships haha)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Brella (Brandon and Stella - Winx Club)
I don’t really talk about the fairies here, but I love Brella. They are such a healthy and dynamic couple. Even as a kid I noticed how harmonic and devoted. I loved, that they got so much attention in the show and that they were the harmonic couple and not Sky and Bloom. They had the storyline in s1 I which Brandon disguised as Prince Sky and lied to her. He was afraid, that Stella would only like him as a prince. And yes, Stella might look superficial at first glance but in fact she is not. And I think she showed a lot of strength in forgiving Brandon who lied to her for a long time. She made no big deal of it even though she is a princess who could have easily married or dated a prince. But she chose Brandon. Then there is the Downland arc at the beginning of season 2 and it wouldn’t have worked with another couple. As I said, they are devoted to each other. Stella fkn jumped after him into that abyss without a second thought? Luckily they survived but then Amentia shows up and Stella almost dies because there is no sunlight in Downland. So to save her life, Brandon agrees to marry Amentia who then agrees to let Stella go. I could fangirl over this arc a lot but I won’t because it already gets too long here. Then s3 in which Stella thinks that it might be just her beauty which Brandon loves (which doesn’t make sense after what they went through) but I think the problem Stella has, is that she was always judged by her looks. She was raised to be a perfect princess and let’s face it, before she met Bloom and the Winx, she had no real friends. However back to the show, Brandon knew that Stella was transformed into that Monster but he did not care. Of course not. He was trying to help her no matter what, just to see her happy again. I won’t focus on the later seasons, because they might still have their cute moments there but after all there was too much beef going on between all the couples and I don’t consider these superficial seasons as canon so I’ll stop here. But Brella is chef’s kiss. The best Winx couple followed by Tecna and Timmy and no one can convince me otherwise.

3. Ethel Hallow x Nick Hobbes - Weirdsister College (Do they have a shipping name?)
Since it was rosie, who tagged me I think I have to take a ship which has nothing to do with Winx but which goes more in the direction of Harry Potter and The Worst Witch. And that is an easy one: Ethel Hallow x Nick Hobbes. OMG the potential, the POTENTIAL! Same as driven, they have so much unused potential even though they were on the best way to build an angsty couple with trust issues and all the drama my fangirl heart needs. I love how Nick noticed right away, that Ethel resembled him. She always played the nice and hardworking students but we all know that she was a devious bitch who used every opportunity to make Mildred look bad. And from her perspective, she did nothing wrong. It was always Mildred who stole the show by breaking the rules and being at school but was in the end the good girl who was appreciated. She always played by the rules (yeah not always but she tried her best) and was ambitious and just wanted to be the number one student, yet who interfered? Always Mildred. It’s no wonder she tried everything to get rid of her. Ethel just wanted a happy school life without interruptions. So she wasn’t innocent at all and Nick knew that. In the first episode of Weirdsister College, he immediately checked that he AND Ethel would not have a chance of passing the all-seeing-eye. He tricked Mildred so that she helped him and used that for him and Ethel to pass the ceremony. He’s the typical bad boy who took advantage of Mildred’s talent and gosh, I wished they hadn’t followed this weird storyline he has with Mildred. Because everything was already there with Ehtel: Both students who tried their best to become the top of the class, both power-driven and both unsure in the end. They have so much in common. And Ethel is, after all, the good girl who fell for the bad boy and she KNOWS that he’s doubtful. She does not trust him but is still fascinated by him. And I just love that trope, okay? Ehtel also gives me hardcore rl Darcy vibes and not, it’s not just because they have the same voice actress I Germany. They’re the dark edgy couple I live for. There could have been done so much if they gave us a second season…..It looked like they were giving up on the Mildred/Nick storyline by episode 9 which was again one big flirt of Ethel and Nick. (The potential!) This is why I hate the way they went on the last episode where it’s like “It’s only you who can save him, Mildred” bullshit. I’m doomed for loving couples the writers seem to hate. I could write an essay about them and I probably will on @yaviae somewhen.

I ADORE the rare occasion two enemies in Winx Club cross paths with each other, and they fight instead of teaming up.
Listening (Can't watch because I'm at work LMAO) to the Icy vs Princess Amentia fight like:

concept: downland is to eraklyon kind of like wales is to england. diaspro is officially the princess of downland, but it’s just a title given to the heirs of her family line, and there’s constant political tension over downlander’s desire for independence
basically diaspro’s entire role as a minor princess is to secure her family’s power and reputation by marrying well and upholding the monarchy. it’s what she’s been groomed for her entire life. then sky breaks off their engagement and downland goes into open revolt (both events that bloom seems inexplicably responsible for) and the entire government starts cracking around her. she’s totally adrift, no purpose and no identity
then she’s captured by princess amentia. the plan was for diaspro to be a political hostage, but it quickly becomes clear that her family and fellow eraklyon nobles think her utility is exhausted. nobody is looking for her.
eventually, after a massive breakdown and a reunion with the winx, diaspro forges a friendship with princess amentia. she renounces her title and takes her place in the downlander liberation army, ready to take on a new purpose

Fucking thank you for cutting downland I hated that arc sm
Narratively it slows the plot down so much. They’re on a time sensitive mission to rescue some helpless creatures from the clutches of a god and the side quest screws up the pacing. Not to mention the tone - bouncing between ‘hilarious’ ball-and-chain gags and the eldritch horror.
Then there’s the stuff I personally hate: such as the aforementioned boomer, I-hate-my-wife jokes; the fat jokes surrounding Amentia’s mother; the idiot ‘savage’ downlander soldiers; the Jewish American Princess stereotype Amentia falls into (not helped by the Rai dub’s choice of accent for the Queen); and the whole ‘just feed the bitch a love potion because consent isn’t important’ solution.
And what is all this for? Another pointless arc where the winx and specialists waste time while Bloom is being used by Darkar to acquire some death worms that could have easily been written out. Seriously, it was not plugging a plot hole, it was a just filler.

WIP for a fanart of the best princess of Winx Club, Amentia. Sure she’s not a flawless winged ninny, but she was fun and courageous. My version is a more “adult” version of her, as she kinda grew up as well.
Clearly one of the most underrated characters of that show.

what’s your least/most favorite winx club relationships?
Most favorite: i’ll have to go with Brandon and Stella, they are fun, light-hearted (except that Mitzi’s drama in season 4 but let’s ignore that), they care so much about each other, remember that scene in season 2, before the Amentia arc, where Stella literally jumps in the rift to save Brandon? She doesn’t hesitate one second.
Also in season 3 when Brandon could see Stella was turned into a monster but pretended nothing changed because he’s just in love with her, that makes me cry everytime haha. I also genuinely like them both as characters, so yeah they are my #1
Least favorite: y’all already know the answer but it’s Bloom and Sky, I find their relationship so boring, mainly because Sky is so bland that makes everything less interesting lol. They look like the typica “Princess and Prince Charming” of fairy tales, something already seen a million times. Other than that i also got so tired of the love triangle between Bloom x Sky x Diaspro...
I’m not including Layla x Nex in this because i’ve seen to little of them but my ranking from most to least favorite would be:
1. Brandon x Stella
2. Timmy x Tecna
3. Layla x Nabu
4. Musa x Riven
5. Helia x Flora
6. Sky x Bloom

WINX REDUX AU SUMMARIZED: SEASON 2 (The Shadow Phoenix)
Or, in which I give the basics of what I’ve changed about the story for the AU. It was originally way more descriptive but if I kept it in that style I would have finished in 2039 and I ain’t got time for that. Let’s cover Season 2!
WINX REDUX AU SUMMARIZED: SEASON 2
The ceremony for the new school year is about to begin, but the Winx are worried sick. Aisha hasn’t appeared yet and they haven’t heard of her in a month.
They decide to keep up some good spirits and believe she’ll appear for the start of classes proper, and whatever’s holding her back in Andros will not take long.
Down in the depths of Shadowhaunt, Aisha has finally managed to escape her prison and is making a run for it, looking for the Pixies and trying to keep a low profile.
She finally finds them and manages to freeze them, and with some help and miniaturization spells, she managed to get them all and run like hell, as their wings were coated in something and had a hard time flying.
Darkar appears in full finally, and starts chasing after the fairy, attacking her with dark flames and providing extra ways for her to advance.
She’s cornered in a balcony and loses the Pixies due to tripping, Darkar catching them again except for Piff, which is still with Aisha hidden.
Aisha takes a leap of faith and jumps from the balcony, transforming mid-air into Glamourix much to her surprise, not expecting to have earnt it that way.
The surprise is short-lived, however, once she hits the water, knocking herself out for a bit. It’s a good thing she can breathe underwater and that pixies technically don’t breathe when asleep.
Back on Alfea, the ceremony is about to begin yet Bloom finds herself lost in the school, arriving into a weird doorless hallway.
She snoops around a bit and finds the Magic Archive, meeting Concorda in the process.
She’s the Pixie of Alfea and is in charge of protecting the Archive, and tells Bloom she needs to leave as only 3rd year students and up can access it.
A few hours pass and the ceremony has concluded (Bloom notes how weird it is that Avalon wasn’t present), the Specialists go pay the Winx a visit and they hang around for an hour, though the girls are still worried about Aisha.
Right at that moment, she appears from the woods, her Glamourix form damaged and her looking incredibly hurt, before finally fainting on the spot, detransforming.
After a week of rest, Aisha finally tells them what she went through, and Faragonda gets incredibly panicky and scared when she mentions Darkar. She bans the girls from the subject and tells them she’ll organize a way to rescue the rest of the Pixies soon.
Aisha, Bloom and Stella decide to skip school and go save the Pixies themselves, as the authorities were taking too long to do something about it after 3 days without any news, with the other three remaining at Alfea with alibis.
They drag Sky, Riven and Brandon into the mess as well for backup, and after identifying the cave Aisha came out of they start their journey to Shadowhaunt.
On Roccaluce Rehabilitation Center, the Trix find themselves bored and tired of the place, and the ways they try to make them better people, finding it inhumane.
Right around the same time, Darkar breaks in, having sensed them as the witches who weakened his seal with their stunt, and practically kidnaps them so they could help him with his plans.
The Trix follow him mostly out of fear, since the dude’s incredibly powerful and they’d rather not die by cursed fire thank you very much. He grants them part of his power to make them more capable in battle, as well as weapons for Icy and Stormy (Darcy already has a crescent-shaped blade, though Darkar does upgrade it). Icy gets a sword hilt, being able to make the blade with her ice, and Stormy gets a spear.
The Princesses and the three Specialists get lost, and after a battle with Darkar’s monsters they get separated, Stella and Brandon falling into an abyss and Stella unable to transform out of sheer shock and fear.
They wake up in a strange village and are greeted by a Drakian man in blue, called Sponsus. He tells them they’re in Surar, a town that was forced to live underground after a natural disaster destroyed their original settlement. Stella is hella weak due to the fall, the shock and not being able to transform due to all this, so she’s super scared and clinging to Brandon the entire time for safety and comfort, refusing to leave him alone.
They get Stella some medicine and treatment and Sponsus convinces them to meet Amentia, the current leader of the place, for help and instructions to Shadowhaunt since she knows the area pretty well.
They meet her, she seems interested in Brandon which only makes Stella get in an even worse mood, and tells them about what’s been happening lately on this place:
People of the town, as well as Gnomes from the nearby Ephemeria settlement, keep disappearing anytime they get close to the ways to Shadowhaunt, and monsters have started appearing. She’s interested in their plans to save the Pixies and offers her assistance on the way, to see what’s going on.
They get attacked on the way there however, Brandon getting severely injured. Amentia offers to take him back to Surar to properly treat him and Stella to keep going to meet her friend, but she’s hesitant, not wanting to be left alone right now.
Brandon finally convinces her and she rushes off, seeing if she can finally meet with the rest, trusting Brandon and Amentia that all will be fine.
She finally transforms again, earning her Glamourix, and manages to meet with the rest at last.
They decide to simply go to Shadowhaunt as they are and that they’ll meet Brandon later, so he can rest properly.
They finally reach the place and find the Pixies, freeing them. They’re attacked by the Trix at the same time, however, and a battle ensues.
It’s short-lived, however, as Avalon suddenly appears, defeating the Trix and saving the rest. He explains he had actually been contacted by the Paladins to go investigate Shadowhaunt, as they had detected sudden magic readings recently. His cover was blown, however, so he sticks with the group and scolds the girls for doing this recklessly.
They make their way back to Surar for Brandon, and after explaining what they now know to Amentia, she thanks them for the information and tells them that she’ll keep an eye on Shadowhaunt, and inform the Order of Mana if anything else happens.
They finally go back to Alfea and are scolded even further by a very worried Faragonda, who punishes them with two weeks of limited magic access outside of classrooms, as well as extra homework to catch up on what they missed. The guys are also punished by Saladin via holocall, and are forced to help with some of the harder preparations for Red Fountain’s start, as they’re still fixing the place.
Bloom and the rest does ask Faragonda what she knows about Darkar and why did he kidnap the Pixies in the first place, but she tells them she’ll share that information in due time, once she tries to process everything.
Avalon puts Bloom aside for a bit, complimenting her bravery and resolve in saving the pixies even if it was a dumb thing to do, and offers to teach her about Domino and it’s royal customs alongside Daphne, now that she’s a princess.
The girls properly meet all the Pixies, and start to get along. Bloom gets along with Lockette, Stella with Amore, Musa with Tune and Cherie, Tecna with Digit and Cara, Flora with Chatta, and Aisha with Piff. Lockette and Kiko have an Anime Rivalry going on.
A month or so passes, and Red Fountain is finally fixed, a big event occurs for it with all three schools attending, as well as Diaspro finally arriving at Alfea after having some issues transferring on Eraklyon Institute’s part.
The building now flies. Flora recognizes Helia on the crowd and decides to spend the rest of the day with him, catching up after so long. We learn he’s currently living in Magica City and trying to make it as an artist, working as a barista on the side to keep like, living.
The Trix attack during the show battle between Sky and Riven, and the Winx plus Diaspro, the Specialists and also Helia (revealing he’s now a Glamourix witch) decide to help with the issue. Once the monster is defeated the Trix are nowhere to be seen, leaving everyone confused.
Tecna is noticing a weird shift on Avalon, believing him to be really friendly lately. Too friendly.
She decided to ask him what has gone on in his life to make him be in that good mood, and when he gives a cryptic answer she becomes more convinced something’s wrong.
Despite Bloom and Musa’s protests she’s just being paranoid, she starts making a special device to decipher if Avalon is under some sort of spell, or if it’s even the real Avalon at all. The Winx believe it’s not gonna work due to some of Tecna’s past projects, so they don’t worry too much.
To literally everyone’s surprise, the device does work. Except it’s acting as a missile centered on Avalon. Shenanigans ensue.
The device starts targeting other people, meaning the Winx have to transform now. They manage to destroy the object, and Tecna apologizes for what she did.
A few weeks pass, and the girls start taking magic battle classes with Griselda.
Tecna, still slightly stressed with what happened recently (not used to apologizing for being in the wrong), has a nasty fight with Timmy, and after a few days, the Winx convince her to go talk to him properly at Red Fountain, with Bloom and Flora going along.
It just so happens that the Trix attack shortly after they arrive, seemingly looking for something. The girls and the Specialists fight them for a bit before they seemingly retreat, and give chase for them, not knowing what they or Darkar wants from the school.
The Trix arrive at the center of the academy and solve a puzzle, gaining access to the secret armory and stealing a red gem, filled with power. They call it a Keystone and promptly leave, but they’re attacked by Athena, the pixie of Red Fountain.
They’re soon cornered by half the Winx and the specialists, but during battle Icy manages to stab Timmy, and Tecna lets them go, prioritizing his safety despite wanting to simply defeat them now and end it.
Flora rushes as fast as she can and starts using her healing powers to lessen the harm, stopping the blood loss so RF’s nursery can take him.
A few hours pass and Timmy wakes up again, recovering still. He and Tecna finally talk about what had happened a few days ago and make up, Tecna’s admitting of being wrong and showing her emotions fully earning her Glamourix.
After Timmy’s near-death experience, the Winx finally confront Faragonda, and she tells them of Darkar, the Keystones, and Relix. (more info about them here and here)
Some weeks pass, and the Pixies are getting more and more homesick. Someone’s been poisoning them lately with a longing potion, and when fully inebriated they decide to flee Alfea and go back to Pixie Village, but are stopped by the Winx.
The girls are assigned a group test and need 7 people total, so they decide to invite Diaspro along so they can get to know each other better. After a few mishaps, they have a sleepover, and the group gets closer to her in different ways, bonding strongly with Bloom and Tecna (Bloom over a passion for art, Tecna over a deep, deep love-hate relationship with soap operas).
The day of the test arrives, but Darkar himself hijacks the simulation chamber, forcing the girls to do a different convergence spell than planned, defeating the monsters he placed. They pass without issue after that, and the girls feel more together than ever.
Bloom needs to go to Earth for a few days to help her mom with the case against the dudes that tried to destroy her shop, and with permission from Faragonda she brings Stella, Musa and Aisha along, since they wanted a breath of fresh air.
Stella leaves to go sightsee and Bloom meets with her mom, so left alone, Musa and Aisha decide to hit up a club and see how it goes.
Back on Magix, Flora manages to snag a coffee with Helia, and continue to catch up on their lives. She’s been trying to meet with him again for a while, but he tends to get so immersed in his work he accidentally keeps ghosting her. After an actual outing at last, Helia realizes he’s lowkey crushing on her, but decides to drop that though for a bit and continue with his art, unaware that Flora’s also starting to fall for him.
They have a good time despite an incident with some punks outside the place, and after a sudden slow dance, Musa realizes her crush on Aisha is far more than that. She internally panics the rest of the trip, Aisha somewhat oblivious but also starting to see Musa in a different light.
A few weeks pass, and Stella, Sky, Bloom and Diaspro are summoned by King Erendor, wanting to get some things clear that were left untouched after the Incident last year.
He and Samara talk about the engagement, and that if Bloom and Diaspro are willing, they can rearrange everything in a way they can both still be with Sky.
They all refuse the offer, having already resolved that themselves on their own, and that nothing he says will change their minds. Samara tries to subtly manipulate Diaspro with how her mother is taking all of this, but Bloom defends her, surprising the blonde and the regents.
Defeated, Erendor cedes word to his wife, who reveals the other reason they called them: A town bordering Quarzis and Eraklyon has been taken by the rogue noble Yoshinoya, who wants to meet with both heirs to get to an agreement. Fearing a repeat of “The Onyrix Fairy incident” (which piques Bloom’s curiosity), they order them all to go see what’s up.
On Magica City, Musa meets with her brother - Jian, a senior Specialist. They’re catching up on what has been happening lately, and after a bit, Jian informs her that Red Fountain’s Academic Showcase is happening soon, and that they’re looking for a musician to perform at the end. Musa jumps at the idea and takes that spot, happy but nervous that she’ll finally get to play for more than just the Winx sometimes.
After they part ways, Jian calls his father, and invites him to come to the Showcase since he missed it last year, and that he has a surprise for him.
Back on Eraklyon, the group talks on the way, and Bloom asks about what Erendor and Samara were talking about. Sky admittedly doesn’t know much about it since it was before he was born, but Brandon fills in and tells her Daphne will know more since she was also involved.
They finally arrive at the town, and are immediately ambushed by a group of weirdos in superhero costumes calling themselves the Patchamen, a group of justice-obsessed mercenaries that believe in Yoshinoya’s cause, being completely misguided. They’re quickly defeated, however, and thanks to them defecting, they manage to capture Yoshinoya and send them to the authorities.
Diaspro and Bloom talk a bit more on the way back, and after everything that happened that day, she realizes she might be crushing on Bloom, especially after the redhead falls asleep on her shoulder.
A week has passed, and the Showcase is finally starting. Musa’s nervous about her solo act (since she’s also helping a band with her guitar earlier on), but Aisha manages to encourage her and everyone else is supportive as well. Riven offers some advice on handling any nervousness in his own way, but Musa’s thankful about the support.
Her happiness is short-lived, however, when she recognizes her father, Huan, on the distance, and while he’s happy to see her, his eyes have a stern look.
The Winx and the Specialists introduce themselves, and Huang pulls Musa aside from a bit after this.
Once they’re in a private place, he asks her to drop the music act, that she shouldn’t do any of that. Musa asks him how he knows about this - Jian told him. She immediately refuses, she has been practicing like hell this past week and she’s not about to drop it just because her dad is still afraid of performing.
They’re on the verge of a screaming match but Aisha interrupts, worried about her friend. Musa takes the chance and leaves his father there, and goes to confront her brother on this with Aisha.
Jian told their father about the show in the hopes he had finally gotten over the issue, but he was clearly wrong, and Musa, while appreciating the thought, he should have known their dad wasn’t over it. “We’re a family of thick-headed people, did ya forget that?” Aisha has like zero context about this, so she asks them to elaborate.
Their mother, Marina, died of a magic-resistant illness, and near the end of her life she had started to get slightly better. She wanted to give one last concert, in case she did not make it, and she did. But she passed out shortly after the final song of the concert, and died on the way to the hospital.
They went through some bad patches after this, and while Huan still likes music, he’s afraid of his kids also following that path in case they end like Marina did.
Both Jian and Musa know this is idiotic, but they understand why he would be afraid of this. Marina’s passing hit them all too hard. But Musa is determined to go through the concert with his approval or not, and she’s not gonna back down.
The Showcase finally starts, and while Huan is still grumpy the girls and Riven manage to soften him a bit with how much Musa loves music and how nervous she was about all this.
Musa’s number is close to happening, and after a bit, Huan shows up backstage. He apologizes for what he did that day, and that yeah, he shouldn’t have to force her to not perform just because of his fears.
Musa also apologizes for how she reacted, but also finally calls him out on how his fears have affected her and Jian, how she has felt pressured to keep a big part of her hidden from him all this time, and how much pain this has caused her. Huan apologizes once more, and as they hug, Musa earns her Glamourix, finally being honest with her dad.
She finally gets to perform her solo act, and the Showcase finishes without any major incident.
Bloom gets invited by Mitzi for a Halloween party, and she decides to bring the Winx + Dia along as well, since the rest didn’t get to see Earth last time.
The party goes without any major incidents, but Mitzi does tell her that she hasn’t seen Selina in a bit, seemingly spending a lot of time with her grandma. Mitz’s description of her matches what her parents have told her about the mysterious old lady that showed up each time she went back home, and while she’s worried, if she’s Selina’s grandmother she will probably be fine.
A few more weeks go by and the Winx wake up to the revelation Flora signed them all up for some extra courses at Cloud Tower, and she takes the chance to also meet up with Mirta and Lucy again.
Helia also goes to get some practice on his magic done.
As this happens, Sky and Riven get trapped on their side of the dorm due to some issues, and are forced to spend the entire day together. They get closer, and Riven starts to suspect he might have something for the blonde prince.
During their stay the Trix hijack the school and after some battles, they manage to steal its Keystone after defeating Discorda, its pixie.
Helia and Flora also start lowkey flirting but they’re both bad at it and Flora’s infinite patience is starting to cut short once Helia starts trying to change subjects.
Three days later, the Winx are still bummed about their defeat at the hand of the Trix, and Bloom starts taking some private magic lessons with Avalon to unwind a bit.
They talk a bit and asks Avalon if he knows where Alfea’s keystone is. Avalon says he honestly doesn’t know, but even if he knew he wouldn’t be able to tell her. Bloom makes an offhand comment about the Keystone being in the Archive, and Avalon loses composure for a second.
Avalon offers her some of his homemade tea to relax, and she eagerly drinks it, exhausted after the training.
Bloom gets progressively more and more flighty and happy as the day progresses, and during a small joke moment in the Winx’s dorm, she starts laughing too hard. Everyone gets concerned as Bloom also suddenly transformed, and started flying away.
She’s getting more and more deranged and her eyes are starting to change color, and she arrives at the Archive, starting to burn everything with a childlike glee on her eyes. Her Glamourix also turns from orange to gold.
The Winx follow and attempt to stop her, but they’re overpowered by Bloom’s Dragon Aura and she breaks the roof, flying out with the Keystone and giving it to a shadowy person for Darkar.
She comes back down and starts trying to play (read: attack) the Winx, but Avalon arrives and takes her out of whatever she was on, detransforming.
She spends the next week shut inside her room, afraid of what she had done, not knowing how it happened, and how she almost severely hurt her friends with her magic.
Since the last break before finals is rapidly approaching, Faragonda suggest for the girls to take a trip to the Fatue Wildland Resort, a place low on ambient magic with a lot of stuff for them to take their mind off recent events, and even suggest the girls could invite the Specialists.
The Winx take the offer and bring the Specialists alongside Diaspro and Helia, and they have a nice two days on the Snow Mountains before deciding to camp on the River side of the resort, just 4 days of enjoying nature.
At the same time, Palladium and Avalon go on a small hike in search of a flower, but Avalon gets some flower acid in his eyes, prompting Livy, the messenger pixie of Alfea, to go back and get some medicine while Palladium helps him. Avalon mentions something about Pixie Village’s unique cure seemingly as a random fact, and Livy decides to then go to Pixie Village since it would have been a shorter trip.
She gets attacked by Icy on the way, and she manages to find Pixie Village. She makes short work of the place and takes the last remaining Keystone, and almosts kills Ninfea before being stopped by Livy.
She decides to fold in, and Livy rushes again to help Avalon.
With all the Keystones, Darkar realizes he needs someone else to act as a catalyst to open the gate for Relix, and informs the Trix this person is Bloom, so they need to kidnap her.
The Trix attack the group on the Wildlands, but ultimately fail to get Bloom, the team getting the fuck out of there once the Trix disappear.
At some point between the attacks, Aisha gets separated from the rest, and in a moment of panic, she can only think of Musa and how she could make everything better. She realizes she might be falling in love with her.
The Winx then go to Pixie Village by Livy and Faragonda’s request, as the Tree of Life took a beating and they think Flora might be able to save it.
She does, and thanks to a confidence boost she stops beating around the bush, finally asking Helia out on a date after their ineffective flirting on the Wildlands. Chatta cheers on the background.
Once back on Alfea Bloom decides to go check up something with Avalon, and loses track of the rest.
The Winx then meet with Faragonda and talk about what happened, when Avalon, looking way worse than just a few moments ago, bursts into the hallway.
He explains he was a prisoner of Darkar almost all year, and has only now just managed to escape. Everyone else is doubtful until Faragonda decides to call the Order, and is indeed surprised that Avalon was reported missing for almost a year now.
The Winx, realizing Bloom was gonna meet up with the fake Avalon, rush like hell to his office, but are too late - Bloom is back to that crazed state (Shadow Bloom is what the fake calls it), and formally introduces himself as Bertrand, before disappearing to Shadowhaunt.
Everyone starts panicking like hell until Daphne, filled with rage, finally decides to go to Shadowhaunt and end all this right now. The Winx agree wholeheartedly, and with some preparations from all schools our protagonists venture into the depths of Magix.
They manage to meet with Amentia on the way, who realizes there’s been more monsters lately and that Darkar might be preparing for something big. She agrees to keep those monsters at bay alongside some senior Specialists chosen to help.
The main team manage to go inside at last after a last battle with the Trix, and start looking for Bloom.
On the main chamber, and with Bloom’s magic, Darkar finally manages to open the gate to Relix, and leaves the Trix alone to defend the castle while he executes his master plan (which no one truly knows what is yet).
The Trix are pissed at this, after all they did for him for him to betray them like that, so they defect and decide to go help the heroes as a last “fuck you” to Darkar.
The heroes, meanwhile, are held back by Bertrand, who has been kicking their ass for a few minutes before Faragonda, Griffin, Saladin and Codatorta’s entrance, who agree to entertain the monster while everyone else rushes to Relix with Daphne’s help.
The Ring/Sceptre of Solaria is broken during the battle, causing Stella a lot of distress.
With combined effort, the former members of the Company of Light manage to kill Bertrand.
The Winx, Specialists, Diaspro, Helia and the Trix manage to enter Relix at last, and finally witness Darkar’s plan:
To make Bloom absorb as much power from the planetoid as possible, so she can earn Relix and then transfer his consciousness to her, finally becoming corporeal again and… and…
He stops for a bit. He has completely forgotten what he wanted to do once he reached Relix, centuries old memories mixing inside of him.
The Specialists take this chance and attack Darkar, destroying his armor and suddenly freeing the spirit inside, forming into a giant bird-like form.
Bloom is still absorbing magic, and attempts from the Winx seem futile, a shield protecting her. A convergence spell manages to weaken it enough that Diaspro goes through it, and attempts to snap Bloom out of Darkar’s control as much as she can.
Darkar realizes what Diaspro is doing and attacks both her and Bloom not realizing that he will also hurt his future host, and Diaspro takes the full brunt of the attack to defend Bloom.
She ends up severely burned by Darkar, and faints on the spot, seemingly not breathing.
Bloom looks down to Diaspro, the manic glee in her face disappearing completely, her transformation undone and the curse drug placed on her by Bertrand burnt away by her sorrow.
Diaspro starts to shine, however, and manages to get herself partly up surprised that she’s not hurting anymore, and realizes she earnt Enchantix by saving Bloom via giving up her safety for her. Bloom hugs her immediately, but soon realizes Darkar’s still there and he’s attacking everyone.
However, the headmasters plus Daphne arrive to Relix as well, and with everyone’s power, they manage to destroy Darkar, separating the two souls that formed him and burning them, letting them pass on at last.
Completely exhausted, everyone leaves Shadowhaunt slightly traumatized by everything that happened, and the Trix, while proved helpful against Darkar in the end, are going to have to go to jail for a bit and will have a proper trial to determine their fate.
Everyone finally manages to go back to the schools and rest for a bit before finals start, and for now, peace has been achieved...

Winx Club Season 2 Thoughts (4kids) Part 1
I already posted some thoughts on season 2 last year when I legit just clicked through he episodes rather than actually rewatching them so I am back to give a more in-depth look on this season! (And, hopefully, it won’t end with disappointment for me.)
2x01:
- Eww, why voiceover? It just seems so unnatural since we’ve never had it before. Not to mention that Bloom told us what each of the other girls has done during the summer but she didn’t tell us anything about herself. Like, she set out to find out more about her origins back in the first half of season 1, and I know that she did learn about being the princess of Domino but she still has no fucking idea who her parents are as individuals apart from them being the rulers of Domino. Considering how big of a plot that is later on, it just doesn’t sit right with me that she doesn’t seem remotely interested in it currently and didn’t mention anything about it. It’s like that plotline is closed for her which we all know is not true. So I am having some issues here, not gonna lie (not with Bloom but with her inconsistent writing).
- Aww, am I the only one who thinks that Stella buried herself in fashion rules all summer because she didn’t want to think about her parents’ divorce? Poor baby has been going so hard with no rest to keep herself from grieving over it. But at least she did something! (Proving she’s not lazy and spoiled; she practically had a job. Her dream job. You go get it, girl! (but also take care of your mental state, please.))
- Why is Bloom so eager to learn her fortune? Has she not read Greek Mythology? Bad idea, hon. Bad idea. (The thing with the magical reality mirrors was cool, though!)
- (Is that a new secret library or is it the regular library? I’m confused. Does anybody have a handy layout of Alfea for me?)
- She just fucking told her everything! I’m not a fan of knowing your future tbh. It really messes with your head and you start thinking “Will my actions have a negative impact on it? Will I somehow change my own destiny for the worse?” and then you go and do exactly that. Not to mention that it would be so weird to stare at Layla and just feel the pressure of being told that you’ll be best friends. Like, what if it doesn’t work? And what if it is just the fact that you were told so that pushes you to seek the friendship of that person? I don’t know. It’s just not my thing.
- Layla is awesome, though! Climbing those rocks with no equipment, not to mention with so little power left. She probably couldn’t even transform and fly if she fell. That was dangerous but did she care? Nope. She was there to save the pixies! Brave little soldier. Too good, too pure for this world.
- Ugh, Darkar managed to annoy me with his very first sentence ever. Nice job. You are a loser, loser. So deal with it! God, how will I take all that narcissism for 25 more episodes? Oh god, oh no, please, no! Whyyyyyyyy?
- Ugh, Bloom, that diadem is doing the opposite of wonders for your hair, please! At least Stella had the common sense to remove it.
- Speaking of Stella, that moment with the multiplying beauty was so cute! I love how she complimented the others while complimenting herself! But guys (Stella & Bloom), you’re not discreet with the groping. Seriously.
- Oh, hey! Riven won! And Sky only came in third! Nice! But lbr here, Timmy is the real victor! The others came in on hoverbikes while he had an entire ship that he modified himself. I mean, idk about anyone else, but I would definitely go for the ship.
- Of course there’s Diaspro drama. God, can they not for literally five seconds? And also, “we’re just friends”? Wtf? Did you fall on your head this summer, Bloom? You were calling him your boyfriend last time I checked. And you were fawning over the romance in your future. Can you just drop the pretense already?
- Ooh, Layla is so smart! She managed to outsmart all the monsters and win even when she barely had any magic left! You go, you absolute badass!
- Did they even make any changes on that new wing at Alfea? I mean, besides the name.
2x02:
- How did Tecna know that Layla was the princess of Andros? Did she hack the interdimensional FBI system? Wtf.
- They could’ve showed some other things we hadn’t seen that Layla had to go through but, of course, why would they do that when they could just use the same footage and draw less animation, bruh?
- And we’re getting to the opposites. Right on schedule when the Shadow Phoenix has shown up. You gotta love how convenient those school lessons are (not to mention that Bloom suddenly started feeling her opposite out of nowhere. Nice!) At least we got a cool magical lesson. Though, idk how to feel about the ying-yang symbol. I mean, it is a perfect representation of what they’re talking about but kind of weird to see something so earthly in Alfea. Though, Earth did have magic so... Hmm. Okay, anyway. Moving on.
- Um, question, why do Stella and Layla not know each other? And in the first season Stella and Musa and Sky didn’t know each other even though they were all royalty (I am still unclear on whether Musa is a princess or not btw but anyway). Don’t they, like, have royal meetings with other kingdoms? (which they even did in season 5 when Domino was back. What, is Domino the center of the universe and they can’t function without it? I mean, come on!)
- The talk about love is getting on my nerves and I literally have “love” in my url and it is my fave word. So what is wrong with that? I do love that guard there. Heck, yeah, it’s a prison (it’s worse than that tbh). And the fact that they’re trying to make it out not to be is extremely fucked up and sickening if you ask me. Not to mention “You can force people to be happy. It just takes time.” I really hope whoever had the idea of that place (in-verse) is going to hell.
- They legit just kept recapping season 1 for a solid minute? Aaaaaaaand... SKIP.
- Can I say that a 30-page report is an actual living nightmare. Thanks.
- The girls are all friendly with Layla (well, outside of a slip-up or two). That’s cute. But where the hell is Tecna? Can the animators only animate five Winx girls at a time? What the hell, you guys?
- So the Pixie village is on Andros (if Layla found it accidentally. I don’t imagine she realm-hopped at will)? Why don’t I remember any of that? But hey, finally some flashbacks that we haven’t seen before!
- Oh, look! My guy Kerborg is here! (the only good part of this whole Darkar thing tbh)
- The Trix finally thought of trying to pretend to be happy in order to get out of there. Well, better late than never. Though, watching how it’s going I can understand why they didn’t try before that. It is, in fact, hopeless. (But at least Darcy is handling it! She always was a bit more controlled.)
- I am so majorly creeped out by Darkar. He just met them and he’s like “You belong to me! Mwahahahaha.” Ummmm? Can you calm down? But I loved Icy’s response. Though, it didn’t stick. And he’s at it again. Seriously, this is really giving me some major off vibes. He said they were going to be the queens of Shadowhaunt which, considering he’s the king, would imply they were his wives. Now there’s a mental image that I am not even going to let inside my head, thanks. Although, having in mind that he just kept buttering them up, I would say it was just him stroking their egos to get them to join him. Not to mention that his later treatment of them supports that theory. And of course, he had to test them first and see how they’d do.
2x03:
- Please, tell me that they’ll tell someone about the Pixies and won’t just go to Shadowhaunt on their own initiative.
- O!M!G! They actually told Faragonda! I can’t believe this! Finally doing something smart, I can’t! And of course she wasn’t going to just let them go. Though, did she really think they weren’t going to want to take the test?
- Shouldn’t Stella be weakened by the darkness of Shadowhaunt? I kinda wish she’d stayed at Alfea if that would’ve spared us from the arc that is coming. (Why?)
- Okay, but it was kind of rude of Layla to just overtake Riven’s hoverbike like that. I wouldn’t appreciate it if I had to give someone a ride and they shoved me out of the driver’s seat and occupied my car, thank you. I’m surprised Riven agreed to let her drive.
- I don’t really have much to say about this episode tbh.
- It was cute that Stella jumped off the cliff for Brandon but it was not the smartest course of action. It probably would’ve been easier for him to save himself if he was alone and they may not have ended up being brought to Amentia. God, I hate this. I don’t want to be bitching about this every other sentence so just know that I absolutely despise this arc from the very bottom of my heart and that will never change.
2x04:
- They have no powers and Darkar knows they’re there. Sounds like a great situation, doesn’t it?
- That amazing moment when you either have to marry a person you’ve just met or watch the one you love die and then be forced to get married anyway. You gotta love that! I hate this so much! (And this is different from my previous point. Or at least has a different angle.)
- Wow, Riven is absolutely handling being a boyfriend. Somebody get him a manual, the man is failing spectacularly.
- I am not quite a fan of Flora’s “Must be nice to have a shoulder to cry on”. Like, you have your friends???? No, I get that she wants a boyfriend, nothing wrong with that, but it came out like she has nobody. Which is absolutely not true.
- What a lucky save that Stella just arrived when they were about to become toast. Can anyone tell me why she didn’t just teleport them where the Pixies are? Or anywhere closer to them if she could do that all along?
- Am I distracted or is there nothing to talk about in these episodes? (Both. It is both.)
2x05:
- Seriously, why didn’t they at least mention the option to teleport using that gadget from the beginning?
- Aww, Brandon was trying to be noble and get out of the marriage but it backfired. Poor him.
- Why are the Pixies bickering like that? Is it Shadowhaunt’s influence or just the fact that they’d been imprisoned together for so long?
- Wait, did they just... kill a pixie? (Off screen of course, but still. Damn!)
- So Bloom and Stella did... interestingly with the boarding.
- Why is Stella afraid of heights? Also, that’s never been mentioned before. Especially not when she jumped off a fucking cliff! Wtf. They just keep throwing in new stuff without setting it up properly and I am getting annoyed.
- What happened to Tecna’s computer?
- Oh, look! Chatta lied to Darkar to protect Pixie Village.
- It’s the Trix! Finally some action! And they are harder to defeat now that they’re stronger! Nice!
- Damn! Layla was really determined to get the Pixies out of there. (Which wouldn’t have helped if Darkar hadn’t let her but she still gets points for trying.)
- Oh come on! Do I really have to deal with fake Avalon so early in the season?!?!?! Dammit! Also, wtf is up with Bloom and Stella? Like, you both have boyfriends. At least Layla’s not affected.
- “Stella returned a compliment. What is that about?” XDDD One of the funniest lines ever! And look at Amore! She is so cute!
2x06:
- But yeah, seriously, just go get Brandon, please! (Also, good that they noticed something’s fishy.)
- Aww, Stella is absolutely furious and determined to get her boyfriend back. She should’ve gone for a plan tbh since it could’ve helped them get to the palace faster.
- I love how Stella’s known Layla for a week (half of which Layla was unconscious) tops and is already making her her bridesmaid. Am I the only one who finds this weird? Like, this friendship train is moving way too fast for my trust issues.
- Poor Brandon. She’s going to stretch him, wtf? These episodes are a horror show.
- How bad can a guard worm be? Hm, gee, I don’t know, Layla. Enough to stop you perhaps since it is a “guard”, y’know.
- And Brandon is talking to a parrot now. I am losing it just like he is. How much longer will this torture go on? Please, tell me this arc is coming to an end.
- Okay, so the plotline with Amore’s magic is less problematic than I remember it. I thought she was going to make Amentia fall in love with the flower pollen but it only leads you to your soulmate. That isn’t problematic, actually. Nice!
- Wtf do you mean they’re going to eat Brandon if he’s not a good husband?!?!?! I am getting nightmares over here. Just feeling them forming in my head. Thanks.
- It must be horrible for Stella to be standing there and watching her boyfriend being forced to marry another woman. How are these people not psychologically scarred anyway?
- Aww, they’re back together! I love how Amore is just sitting in Stella’s lap! It’s cute.
2x07:
- I was not ready for the Kiko angst even though I knew it was coming.
- Faragonda really thought she could just dodge that question without them noticing, huh? Yeah, well, no.
- Oh, look! The Shadow Fire is sentient. This reminds me of LotR tbh but anyway, moving on. So Darkar is a man who is possessed by the Shadow Fire? I so did not remember that.
- Oh, no! Is it really time for Avalon already? Dammit! I was just getting thrilled there was no Darkar in these last two episodes and now I get Avalon. Uggggh.
- I get Bloom’s annoyance with this but why does she keep blasting it when that obviously doesn’t give results?!?!?! This reminds me of that quote by Einstein that madness is doing the same thing and expecting different results. “I feel tired.” You think? You’ve been out there blasting that thing for hours. Get inside and get warmed up, oh my god! Seriously, how are they even alive? They don’t take care of themselves at all.
- This might be my more advanced knowledge of what the future holds for them speaking but I absolutely do not get what is Avalon’s appeal.
- Oh, how convenient. He’s teaching magic connected to their origins. Amazing.
- “I don’t want to seem obsessive” *proceeds to spy on girlfriend* At least the show is framing it well.
2x08:
- Ugh, I really hate these Bloom and Avalon scenes. They just leave a bad taste in my mouth.
- Ugh, I’m gagging at Bloom’s obsession with Avalon. I get he promised to help her learn about her origins but she’s downright lovesick. I am so with Sky on this and I understand his frustration.
- Aww, Brandon immediately revealed his own nickname to help Stella calm down. That was so cute! I love them!
- I love how the fairies are always invited, of course, but the witches are only invited because they helped. I mean, yeah, they do cause trouble, but like, they’re witches? I think the show should have done a better job at specifying what exactly being a witch is because currently it’s like “hey, they’re evil but they can legally learn how to be evil in the legitimate school for witches!” How does that make any sense?
- Ewww, seriously? On the one front I have Bloom and Avalon and on the other Icy and Darkar. What is wrong with this season?
- Oh, hey! It’s Helia! Now only if we didn’t have to wait half a season for Flora to confess her feelings, that would be great! I love how she got mad at Stella for introducing herself to Helia. Don’t just glare there, Flora. Do something about it! (About Helia, I mean.)
- So Saladin is also a dramatic bitch. Good to know. XD But hey, the new Red Fountain looks so much better. Before I started the rewatch, I didn’t even remember the initial vision. I only remembered the one from season 2 onwards.
- Poor Timmy! But what was Tecna’s problem? Like, you dreamed of him. That’s cool. I mean, you like him. What’s the problem? I guess she’s just not used to emotions like that, though.
- “I think it was Darcy” Jeez, really? Why is the fact that she ran away not enough proof that it was Darcy? Why would she run away if she was just a random girl? But I guess it’s a good thing Musa recognized her voice because people can actually do that unlike what movies would have you believe.
- It’s Kerborg time. Nice!
- Oh, yeah, “let’s leave Bloom and Sky in charge here”. Now you trust her. Last time she was there he blamed everything on her but hey, whatever.
- I loved Sky being supportive of Brandon and then the team up with all the rest. And Riven showing a better side of himself. That was really awesome.
- Oh, I think Helia’s got his eye on a certain fairy too! ;)
- But seriously. Literally an entire army of Specialists can’t hold the monster down while Helia did it on his own. With his glove. Wtf?!?!?!?! Though really, why am I expecting anything to make sense at this point.
2x09:
- Okay, but as annoying as Darkar is, he at least knows how to steer the witches to do exactly what he wants.
- Really, Tecna, I think your facts are wrong. You aren’t completely grown up at 16, wtf.
- Who else is completely creeped out by Avalon? He really just gave all of his very female and very young students flowers. And he’s teaching them all individual things (which is just a cover so that his interest in Bloom doesn’t stand out, of course, but still). He knows they are all crushing on him and he’s exploiting that and doing his best to lead them on and reinforce those emotions. That is absolutely disgusting, thank you.
- Seriously, even Faragonda is falling victim to his “charm” (not)? I can’t with this episode anymore and it has just started. And here I thought Darkar would be the problem of this season. How was I so wrong????????
- Oh, he wants them to trust him as much as they trust themselves? How about they throw you off a cliff instead? Oh, wait, that won’t work because he has wings. Crush him with a boulder then? (This is getting very anti Avalon and I am so sorry for all the negativity but I don’t think I can stress enough how much this is upsetting and angering me.)
- Why do I feel like Avalon is the one who planted the book there so that Tecna could do all of that and embarrass herself so that she wouldn’t try it again and he could proceed with his real plans?
- Well, we finally got Bloom’s parents’ names and a very unclear peek at them. Though, props for having their designs figured out from the beginning, though I guess that is just thanks to the comics.
- Oh, hey! Palladium is back. (Why is no one crushing on him? He is so much better and more handsome than Avalon tbh.) Glow up time, bitches. XD
- Amaryl is being Amaryl, of course. But Palladium is having none of it anymore. And he saved Stella. Nice!
- The others trust Tecna, that’s great!
- (Honestly, Griffin is the only thing saving me from losing my mind in this episode tbh, Also the fact that she believes Tecna and that Tecna was suspicious enough to dig in the first place. At least someone hasn’t lost their common sense.)
- Oh, hey, how did Bloom get that medallion? Did she pull it out of the past? Pls, tell me that’s not what happened. It can legit mess the entire timeline.
- Wait, didn’t they start chasing him before midnight? Why is it suddenly morning? Wtf? You can’t tell me they chased him all night. Why is everything so wrong?
- Poor Wizgiz! Another invention is destroyed. I feel his pain.
- At least all parts of the episode came together nicely. The writing was actually good but I absolutely hate this episode, thanks! I still appreciate the effort with the script, though.
2x10:
- Seriously, why did Bloom instantly decide that Diaspro was involved in this? Ugh. Both she and Sky need to calm down with the jealousy.
- Omg, Griselda is so savage, I can’t! Her magic is so awesome. (Since when is Stella up for cooking? Or was it just because she wanted to see the cute guy that would teach them cooking? Ah, and she’s tired of take out.) I really loved how she used different methods to deal with the different powers of the fairies. Finally we’re getting all the magical lessons and it is absolutely glorious.
- (Btw, seeing Stella openly critique classes schedule makes it clear to me why she’s always been my favorite. That is such a me thing to do. I still can’t understand how teachers liked me since I was always arguing with them.)
- Of course. Sky wants to talk and Bloom immediately decided he wanted to break up with her. Why don’t you hear him out first maybe? (Sidenote: Stella and Brandon went on a date with unicorns? That is really cute!)
- Brandon is in his role of the wingman again. Considering he’s the only one having a steady girlfriend (and they’ve said “I love you” already), the rest should just listen to him.
- Mayhem globe? That’s really cool actually.
- Helia is here. Nice!
- Poor Stormy. She looked really hurt. I thought Darcy was the one with the illusions and riddles. Why did she get it wrong and why was Icy the one to solve it (through a detail that not only has never been shown but has been pretty much disproven by what we’ve seen)?
- Yeah. Tecna and Timmy were also knocked out, Bloom. Just in case you care about that.
- Kindness spell? And non-agression spell? That’s kinda cool actually. But problematic... again.
- I am not quite sure what Bloom did but I am actually glad to see they went with a hug there (and it was cute). But how many times are they going to become a boyfriend and a girlfriend? I thought we were over this.
2x11:
- Brandon is at it again. A true specialist... in dating tips. XD
- Wow, Flora. Nice Helia spell you got there. (Btw I am so loving that we get to see them in different classes and learning things! Yes, this is what I’m here for!) But Layla was so ready to help! And I also love that Flora went to Layla instead of anyone else. It’s really cute that they got so close so fast. (”He’s crazy if he doesn’t like you.” Perhaps Layla is the one who likes Flora. XD)
- Shoulda listened to Brandon, Timmy. (But Tecna so boldly went for the “us”. You go, girl!)
- Idk but to me “The Archaic Spells of Spheria” doesn’t sound any good tbh.
- Of course Stella is all about the romantic movies. But poor pixies. They had to imprison them to save them.
- Why did all of the boys know about the Codex in the previous ep but the girls have no clue about it? Why is Faragonda keeping it from them if everyone at Red Fountain knows about it?
- What was Faragonda doing? And why did she make Bloom look for the spell? Couldn’t she do that herself? (Also, she just threw the book like that on the floor. I get why it prompted her derision but damn, really?)
2x12:
- Flora and Helia are such romantic dorks. And they’re bringing their A game there. Poems and flowers... A beautiful romance blooms. (I’ll stop now.)
- This convergence talk is giving me all the friendship feels. Not just for Winx but also for Faragonda and Griffin since they have been spotted doing convergence too. Ugh, my heart!
- Wow, Riven sure has a lot of pictures of Musa, considering the way he’s acting.
- “Kind of involved”? Mhm, sure.
- So I understand Musa’s frustration with Stella’s meddling but on the other hand I can see Stella’s point. I love Musa x Riven but Riven doesn’t seem exactly present and Musa herself stated that she’s not really sure what the status of their relationship is so...
- Okay, but there is no way in hell that it is Darcy’s birthday. It is fall currently and Darcy’s birthday is May 5 according to Wiki. So yeah, no.
- I am getting a bit sidetracked again but can we talk about the fact that Bloom and Stella couldn’t do convergence after a simple disagreement even though they’re together like 24/7 while Griffin and Faragonda managed to do it seamlessly at the end of season 1 after not speaking to each other for years and kind of getting into a fight the last time they spoke at the Day of the Royals. Friendship goals (well, besides the silent treatment.)
- Okay but I think it wasn’t right to blame Stella. She didn’t say anything that was inherently offensive. She suggested that they try to get closer. That isn’t bad even if it upsets someone indirectly. There was no need to blame her. They should’ve just focused on making Layla feel better.
- Why do I feel like none of them really had friends before they found each other? But hey, they are this big found family now and that is awesome! (I am getting all the feels again.)
- And Darcy is messing up the magical reality chamber again. Didn’t we do that already? Also, why didn’t they try to... idk, take precautions and put better security on it considering how dangerous it can be? Like, those are simple things. Please, be responsible.
- Better not play Truth or Dare with Stella. Unless you wanna be kissing ogres. XD
- That was a good save Layla pulled off there. Also, I love how the girls are mad at the “technical” issues. Tbh they are right to. How many times are they gonna get stuck in the wrong world when sent into the magical reality chamber? Like, get your shit together teachers. Also, why don’t they simply do a test run before they get anyone inside it? You’d think they’d learn their lesson.
- Damn, they can be deleted if the program is turned off? Why didn’t Darcy just have Jarred unplug it then? Winx are erased forever. Boom, problem solved. For the Trix, I mean.
- Aww, the pixies were ready to go in. That was cute.
- I LOVED that convergence! It was such a cool idea to have them make a figure. Also, they just created life. Damn! I am impressed.
2x13:
- Poor Layla. She has all those nightmares. But at least Piff helps! That’s really cute.
- I see Flora still hasn’t solved the Helia problem yet.
- They just ditched school to go to a club. What chaotic dumbass energy, I can’t.
- Aww, Layla is sharing about her harsh childhood. At least she has friends she can talk to now. But damn the difference between Andros and Solaria is very striking in scenes like that.
- Layla totally nailed that improv. Nice, you go, girl!
- I love the difference between Griselda and Faragonda! XD
- I loved that convo between Bloom and Vanessa! Yes, thank you for that. I am a little confused as to when Bloom learned Daphne was her sister. Did I miss something or did the writers miss something? But aww, Vanessa can’t see Locket. That’s making me sad. :(
- They did go to the club, though, huh? Nice one, you guys.
- How will Faragonda learn if they use magic on humans but not otherwise? That doesn’t sound very logical to me. (Speaking of logic, where is Tecna? They didn’t show her in this ep.)
- Oh, no! Poor Layla. But damn, she’s powerful. And the others are there to help her. (The pixies can cause so much trouble considering how small they are.)
- I love how Faragonda and Griselda just showed up to get them. It was cute. Though, now they’re being punished. Well, technically, Bloom didn’t break any rules because she had permission to leave but I guess she’s also in this because she shouldn’t have taken the others with her. (Cheeky to welcome Faragonda and Griselda to Earth.) At least Faragonda managed to get them the permission for music back from Griselda. XD
- Aww, babies! They are so tired from cleaning the whole school, they fell asleep. And the pixies helped, too.
- I’m not sure how Flora got that Helia is “the one” from talking to him for half a minute, but damn, wanna share those powers with the rest of us so that we can know immediately when we’ve met the one as well? (It was so cute to see Flora lean on Layla to sleep with her. And Piff, too. If she weren’t just talking about Helia, they would’ve been like a picture perfect family.)
This got very long so I decided to split the post for this season in parts. Part 2.

Welcome to Winx Reimagined! A fan project where I write and design new and interesting concepts in order to add, deepen, or simply put my own spin on the characters, their designs, worldbuilding, and story of Winx Club! It’ll mostly be stand-alone headcanons, posts, or works, but the end goal is to make a full-length remake in either comic or fanfic form (perhaps both)
Feel free to snoop around, comment, or leave an ask! I’ll be sure to respond, thanks for reading!

BRELLA HEADCANONS pt.2
after what happened with amentia in the downworld, brandon started having trouble to sleep, didn't want to be touched and would often lash out to the boys whenever they'd push him to talk to them. he avoided stella for a while week, thing that worried her terribly, only to show up one night in the girls' balcony at alfea, looking like a trainwreck. stella managed to get him into her room, and before she could even ask what the hell was going on he just tugged at her wrist, asking in low voice if she could hold him just for a while. he ended up sleeping there, cuddled next to stella, while she stayed up all night playing with his hair and making sure he'd be okay.
sometimes they have secret meetings after curfew. they don't really do much except talking and occasionally smoking to get the stress of their respective lives out. during stella's second year they'd meet more often as it was brandon's last before going back to eraklyon.
they never quite spoke again about the fact that stella jumped a cliff to save him, not thinking about the consequences of it or the fact that she could have died as well. when brandon confronted about it she just said "hey, where you go, i go!"
in between long breaks, stella would drop by at red fountain to meet the boys. the few first times they'd all hang out together, until they got the hint that it was just for courtesy. during second semester, brandon had sparring session and the break. sometimes stella would come a bit earlier just to spar at swords like when they were younger.
sometimes stella and brandon go shopping and bring amore with them. they both owe her a lot for what she did in the underworld, plus is just lovely ( pun intended ) to have her around. stella thinks they look like a little family.
speaking of family, stella knew she wanted to marry brandon since day one. still, she wasn't sure that would have been ok for her parents as well. the princess ball was also a chance for stella to properly introduce him to radius & luna as her boyfriend instead of sky's squire.
while stella was incredibly calm about the meeting, brandon was in a literal ball of anxiety. he made sure his dress would be proper to solaria's traditions, replied his speech for radius in his head over and over in his mind, and almost burst into tears of fright the moment he set foot in the ball room. he really wanted everything to be perfect but for some reason he just couldn't imagine stella's parents to actually like him.
he carried his family's heirloom in his pocket for the whole time, and actually felt bad when stella didn't give him much attention for it, nor would wrap it to se what he had gifted. that stung quite a bit, since he had traveled back to eraklyon just to get it from his mother.
at some point he just realised that stellas was her own person, and that if he wanted to marry her then he should have asked her directly. before he could even begin to think to a plan to save money for a ring, cassandra and chimera crashed the party.
the fact that brandon & stella are each other's true love is the reason that pushes brandon to actually decide to propose to stella. when the winx saved the dimension from valtor, she finally introduced him to radius & luna during one of their royals brunchs. stella held his hand under the table the whole time, and that alone gave him the strength to not pass out for how anxious he was.

HUMAN AU: stella is the daughter of a rich business owner. living in a world of peagant contests and careless partying , stella may appear as the yout typical hair head heir. as she grows older , she actually manages to create her own designing brand , HOUSE OF SOLARIS , crashing every disappointed expectation people may’d have about her.
VERSES  /  WINX CLUB BASED.
PRE S1: neglected by her parents over their marital issues , stella’s teenagehood has been constellated of epic hungovers and nights wasted partying and snorting whatever her friends would buy with her credit cards. after a party gone wild , stella and her friends go to the chemistry lab since they were betting on whether the princess could have made a new shade of pink or not. the lab explodes and her friends are quick to blame it all on stella. while they end up repeating the year , stella is suspended. after months of rehab and a generous pay on her father’s side , stella is able to come back to alfea... however voices about her still go around.
S1: finding herself on earth to fight against an ogre who was after her ring , stella befriends a girl named bloom , finding out not much later that the girl is a fairy as well , but didn’t know about it. feeling responsible for bloom , stella offers to take her to alfea in order to learn how to control her powers. the moment bloom accepts , stella’s life changes forever: soon after getting bloom in with an elaborated yet ridiculous plan , the duo meets other three fairies that will eventually become their roommates. from that moment on , the winx club is slowly taking form between school , love and the fight against the evil trix.
S2: second years starts off with a good vibe , until everything gets crushed when queen amentia of downland decides she wants to marry brandon. given the fact that stella is quickly dying due to not being exposed to the sun ,  he accepts to marry the queen in order to save her life. eventually , stella comes back for him , saving him thanks to the pixie named amore. later on , due to an argument about her parents , stella apologizes to aisha for being harsh on her , gaining her charmix. during the quest to save bloom from lord darkar , stella solves a puzzle that eventually leads to them.
S3: stella’s relationship with her father takes a dramatic turn when countess cassandra puts him under a spell with the help of valtor. during the princess ball , stella is turned into a monster by chimera but thanks to the winx she manages to break free from the spell and save her father , earning her enchantix in the process.
SOTLK: graduated from alfea , stella has finally become the fairy guardian of solaria. four months later , stella joins bloom in her quest to find her biological parents and save domino.

Winx Alt Con Season 02 Recap:
Previously: Season 01, Weeks 9.2, 10/11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16
Week 17: Episodes 219, (partial 223), 224-226
As the week starts up, things appear to be back to normal for the time being, but Avalon seems melancholy. Bloom reaches out him after one of his classes, her primary excuse is that she wants to ask about technical incantations that might help the girls get Daphne's 'temple' up and running.
Avalon expresses an interest in the project, and the pair talk about it on the way to dinner in the school dining hall.
Bloom waits for just the right moment, and asks what has him so down. Avalon is reluctant to add his troubles to Bloom's burdens, but after some gentle prodding, admits that he's disappointing with himself for his part in the attack on the pixie village, blaming himself for the loss of the pixie's part of the Codex, and the near loss of the Life Blossom. He reasons that since the village was attacked so soon after a pixie left to help him, the two events were directly related.
Bloom points out that it wasn't really his fault, and while the Codex was missing, Flora had managed to save the Blossom. Before Avalon can deny her logic, she presses on, reminding him that Darkar is, basically Satan as far as anyone can tell, the Vessel of the 'original evil'. Darkar is super old, and really bad, and he would have found a way, they should all just be thankful things turned out as well as they did.
Avalon perks up and remarks on Flora and Tecna earning their Charmix, Bloom proudly tells him their entire group is now made up of Charmix level fairies. She's really proud of her friends, and so glad they all work so well together.
Avalon admits the Winx do seem to be a fairy circle to watch, and that he's (while sorry for the circumstances that brought him to Alfea) pleased to be helping to teach such fine young fairies.
(Bloom makes a sly comment about the faculty being quite nice to be around too after Palladium waves Avalon over to their seats at the staff table. Avalon blushes faintly and admits that the other faculty have certainly been welcoming. Bloom chuckles and) the duo part ways.
Avalon drops by the Winx dorm to go over the 'temple' they have thus far, and offers several pointers for the type of technical spell they're thinking of using to help build it.
As the week wears on, Bloom starts to get a little twitchy. Most of the students do, since their school is the only protection between Darkar and the final piece of the Codex. The Winx accidentally talk about Bloom behind her back, intending to talk about how her 'twitchy' seems to be... not the same as everyone else's somehow.
Bloom catches them in the act and snaps at them, the group apologises, and Bloom backs down, seeming to deflate. She admits she's been having trouble sleeping properly the past few days, and that she's really worried about Darkar's plans.
She's particularly worried because Daphne, Griselda and Faragonda have all told her that Darkar had once kidnapped Bloom's biological mother, Miriam, and she was starting to wonder if he'd try to take Bloom this time. She says being the Vessel of the Dragon Fire sounds cool, but in practice it's a lot of hassle.
The group commiserate and have a sleepover in the main room of their dorm.
During the party, Flora notices Kiko behaving oddly towards Bloom, and when she mentions it to Chatta, the pixie mentions Lockette was acting weirdly (almost subconsciously) distant towards her fairy.
The pair can't figure out what could be causing it, and they can't say for definite that something is wrong, and they certainly can't prove it, so they let the matter go for the time being.
The 'party' winds down pretty quickly, since they still have a day of school left in the week, and the fairies, pixies and lone rabbit settle in for the night. Stella hides a frown as she notices Lockette bunking down with Amore, and Kiko picking a spot with Flora rather than Bloom.
She tries to brush it off as the two companions picking up on Bloom's stress and trying to give her space, but something pings in the back of Stella's mind.
Just after midnight, Bloom seemingly gives up on tossing and turning, and gets up. A bleary eyed Flora asks what's going on, and Bloom tells her she's just going for a walk. Half asleep, it takes Flora almost ten minutes to remember what happened the last time Bloom went for a late night 'stress walk'.
She wakes the others quickly, and the group rushes out to look for their friend.
Aisha and Tecna find Bloom in the mirrored corridor outside of the hidden archive, (one of the secret rooms in Alfea that every student knows about) an oblong object clutched in one hand.
At least, they think it's Bloom.
She's in her fairy form, but her wings look like they've been tattooed with tar, and her clothes are a deep maroon that Aisha recognises as the colour of Darkar's carapace. Before the fairies can do anything, the being with their friend's face slams them into one of the mirrors in the hall.
The duo aren't sure if they black out, or if Bloom simply vanishes, because by the time they pull themselves upright, the maybe-Bloom, is gone.
An emergency assembly is held, the students arriving in only minutes from their dorms, none of them have bothered to change out of their pyjamas.
(At Red Fountain and Cloud Tower, similar assemblies are being held.)
A devastated Avalon reveals to the school that roughly half an hour ago, something had woken him, and when he tried to figure out what it was, he recalled an incident from shortly before he'd joined them at Alfea.
He'd been caught off guard by a sudden shadow, it had overwhelmed him, and then, nothing. He'd completely forgotten about it as soon as it was over.
He'd headed down to the medical wing, and Ofelia had confirmed what he'd feared: shortly before he'd come to Alfea, Avalon had been possessed by a type of sleeper-agent spirit, which had blocked his memory, and watched everything from its hidden space at the back of his mind.
Everything he'd learned in the last several weeks, it knew.
He'd woken to the final tether between them snapping as the creature finished its relocation to a new host: Bloom.
It had (most likely) spent the last week moving in, creating a tether when they'd spoken after class, or at any point when they were physically close enough for it to reach out undetected. The transfer had worn at Bloom's psyche, causing the difficult sleep, and when she'd finally fallen asleep an hour ago, it had taken control of her body, marched it down to the hiding place of the Codex, and taken the final piece.
From the reports of the students who'd set up a rotating guard, they could confirm Bloom had flown off in the direction of the caverns that led to Darkar's lair.
Faragonda asks for volunteers only.
The Winx are the first to step up, followed closely by Mirta, and the few on campus seniors.
Several more students volunteer as well. Avalon refuses to be left behind, and Palladium is [-determined to stay with him through this emotional turmoil-] likewise ready to go save their student. (and the worlds. (again.))
It takes less than half an hour for everyone to get ready.
The Winx step aboard The Sparx with several others (as easy mass transport to the caverns) to find Kiko and the pixies ready to go.
Stella and Tecna take the helm (all of the Winx have been keyed into The Sparx with the help of Daphne, who walked them through the old Domino tech of her ship. Before blanching in mortification when she realised what state she and her circle – the Nymphs – had left the ship in. (Daphne and Bloom had shared a moment of sisterly hysteria when Bloom assured Daphne that she had excellent taste in sexy underwear.)) and pilot their group to the entrance, where they meet up with the volunteers from Cloud Tower and Red Fountain.
Tecna has moved their mapping program to several portable arm devices, and the small army, lead by Faragonda herself, hurries down to Downland, where the three headmasters, and the Winx, get an audience with Amentia.
The Downland princess confirms someone flying very fast passed through their city a short time ago, heading towards Darkar's lair, but as far as they knew, the caverns were still blocked off.
Tecna shows the princess the holo-map, which has been updating as they walked, and now shows a small opening in the wall.
Amentia introduces the group to her pet rockworm, and offers to help burrow an opening large enough for the cobbled together arm. They gladly accept, surprised when Amentia also offers to aide them in battle against the shadow monsters.
They understand pretty quickly that it's a political manoeuvre as well as a friendly one, after all, how would Amentia be perceived by her people if she didn't offer her assistance fighting an enemy who dwells along the fringes of her own territory and posses a threat to the people of Downland?
As the army (now with added Downlanders) prepares to depart the city, the Specialists check on the Winx, making sure they're coping with the loss of their friend, and being in the Underrealm with its power draining effects.
Stella admits she's been stockpiling solar power since their last trip, since it was likely they'd have to return, but with their new Charmix powers, they'd all be able to hold of the effects a little longer.
When asked about their previous problems with entering the Underrealm, Musa and Flora confess they've been working with Diaspro and a few other rock aligned fairies to figure out how to deal with their powers under ground. (Flora shows off a few of her seed pouches, and ready made potions.) Tecna assures the boys that she's been working on her problem as well, though she's been working by herself.
The boys are impressed, and glad the Winx will be able to fight, but they notice the girls say nothing of their distress at losing Bloom, only look away with anger in the back of their eyes. (who the anger is directed at, the boys aren't sure.)
Aisha mentions, since they're talking about Diaspro, that it would have been nice to have the gem fairy present for the fight, since amongst the magic users they'd brought, only two others had rock based abilities.
A voice pops up beside her (“oh, I know, Diaspro is just so useful, and wonderful and pretty and smart-” “-and HERE! Diaspro!... what, why are you here?” “Sky called, Bloom's been kidnapped? Funny thing happened to me last, any way, I thought I'd return a favour... plus the king sent me to babysit his son.”) as Diaspro makes her presence known to the group, giving a brief run down on Sky's father's desire for his son to call before going off into battles for the fate of the Magical Dimension. It doesn't hurt (in the king's opinion) that the person they're going to save recently saved Diaspro's life, claims legit (though distant) relations to the Princess of Solaria, and is dating the Crown Prince of Eraklyon.
(In the background, Lucy fusses over Mirta, worried her 'new fairy-ness' will make her susceptible to the negative effects to the Underrealm.)
They don't bother with subtle when they break through to the cavern surrounding the citadel, they bust down the walls, and Diaspro leads the two other fairies of similar elemental nature in creating a thick stone bridge to get everyone into the citadel.
What seems like an endless supply of shadow monsters await them.
The three schools come together in a united front, forming small parties based on compatibility, available skills, and that one time they all fought of an immortal army last term. The teachers take point, leading the way into battle, while the students follow their lead, and the Downlanders slot themselves in where they can.
Amentia is a terror on the battlefield. (at one point Stella swears she heard the Downland princess scream about bringing back one of her enemies' heads on a pike for her sweet husband, Sponsus (who stayed in the city to set up medical response for after the battle).)
The Trix make themselves known on the battlefield, casting their magic carelessly, not worried about hitting their monster 'allies'. The three headmasters step up and go toe to toe with the Trix, pushing their advantage as Griselda joins the fray, leaving the lesser monsters to the students, other teachers and Downlanders, who make good progress in cutting swathes through the enemy.
At Faragonda's order The Winx and Specialists leave the battle and make their way through the lair, searching for Bloom; Diaspro, Mirta and Lucy working with them. Alongside them, not only a very determined Kiko and their pixies, but Athena, Discorda, Concorda and Ninfea, the Four Guardian Pixies, who have brought the key to the backdoor, just in case they're too late.
Stella, using her innate connection to Bloom, bolstered by Kiko and Lockette, leads the group to the heart of Darkar's lair, just in time to see a portal close.
Lockette considers trying to open it, but the portal is tied to Darkar and Bloom, and either one of them could destabilise it if they noticed the group trying to cross through.
The Guardian Pixies bring forth their substitute Codex and reveal the lock to the mystical back door to Relix, home to one of the Ultimate Powers of the Magical Dimension.
Unfortunately, the group's presence in the room causes a security measure to activate, and they find themselves surrounded by enemies. (thankfully though, not the Trix.) The Specialists prepare to defend the group, Diaspro, bound by her vow to the king, steps up to make sure Sky doesn't die, and Mirta and Lucy join her.
When the Winx waver over whether or not to stay and fight, Diaspro lays the fact out.
If Bloom is possessed like she's been told, she'll need her closest friends to get through to her, and if Darkar's in there, they'll need as many fairies in there as they can.
(Diaspro and Mirta might be friends with Bloom, but it's a different friendship than the Winx, Lucy is only there because Mirta is there, and the boys are needed to defend the portal from this side.)
Stella knows Diaspro is right, and after a brief 'I love you/too' with Brandon, turns her attention to the lock as the fight begins behind her. It takes her mere seconds to figure it out, the Guardian pixies are flabbergasted, but Stella brushes them off with mentions of 'colour theory' and 'any fashionista would have' before diving through the portal, both in haste to find Bloom, and so she doesn't have to talk about how she figured out a difficult puzzle, that should have taken several geniuses several days, in only seconds.
The remaining Winx are close behind them, and so is Kiko and their pixies. (The Guardian pixies, their job done, return to their Bonded companions.)
The world on the other side of the portal is desolate.
The sky seems to stretch on forever, out into a purple hued endlessness. The part of the world directly around the portal site is made of stone. Unmarred by the passage of time, no wear from people walking over it, yet it carries a heaviness of age in its every brick. A few dozen metres from the portal site, a flat topped pyramid rises, stairs leading straight up the middle of each side.
At the top stand Darkar and the possessed Bloom, a luminous crystalline flower dissolves into being between them. It is lit with a dark flame from within.
The Winx call out for Bloom, Kiko already halfway up the monolith trying to reach her, Lockette close behind him.
Darkar sneers at the fairies, and orders Bloom to attack them.
But they came prepared.
Aisha and Flora bring up netting and vines while Musa and Tecna slam a wall into place. Before Bloom can react, Stella is already in her face, shoving a handful of glitter in her mouth. Kiko and Lockette reverse course, dashing to join their fairy.
As Bloom begins to writhe, the borrowed fairy dust loosening the grip of possession, Stella talks to her, Kiko and Lockette plastering themselves against her, being there for her as Stella remind her who she is, and begging her to wake up.
Bloom shoves Stella away just far enough to retch up a cup's worth of black tar, which Stella quickly vanquishes with her staff. Bloom's transformation dissolves with the tar, leaving her shaking and confused in her pyjamas.
Stella fills her in quickly while Darkar starts to make a fuss, not only has his minion been soundly and easily defeated, the Crystal of Power won't respond to him.
(“hey, dickhead, you need a key for that.”)
In the citadel of Shadowhaunt, the Specialist and the trio with them find themselves running out of enemies, until a large monster appears. Unbeknownst to the group, it is Kerbog, Darkar's favourite minion.
Kerbog reflects any energy based attack back at the group, but the group remembers the monster at Red Fountain, and the three girls use their aerial mobility to distract the creature while the boys take advantage, hacking their foe to pieces.
Only for it to burst into a dark smog.
The girls are ready for it though, and blast the spindly bird that emerges from the cloud.
After that, they seem to actually be out of things to fight, so they debate whether or not to go after the Winx, or remain on guard.
In Relix, the Winx find themselves on the defensive, but something is off about the fight. The way Darkar fights, it's not fit for out and out battle, it's a sly, insidious style. He talks as he hurls magic blasts at the girls, physically separating them even as he tries to worm his way into their heads, to divide them, to make them doubt themselves, to make them doubt each other.
The pixies do what they can, but Darkar keeps interfering with their Bond abilities, and bats their own powers aside with ease. He gains enough breathing space to try absorbing the Crystal again, but when he turns he finds it gone.
He yells in rage and Bloom (once more in her sparkly blues) laughs. Because she gets it, with a clarity that feels preternatural even for her, she understands what he is, why he can never use the power of the Crystal, and why he could never have opened the doorway without her.
Born from the ashes of the Dragon Flame, his power is everything hers isn't.
Alone, rotten, corrupted, it is evil in what it does to people, but she understands that his power is a natural part of the fabric of the universe.
They can't defeat it, but they can defeat him.
Together.
Like they can read her mind, the Winx and the pixies gather together, Charmix manifesting, the pixies synchronising with their fairies. Their magic coalesces around them in a protective bubble, which even Darkar's strongest attack can't penetrate.
Their spell builds, to purify and repair, it builds and builds and builds. Bolstered by their Charmix, and their pixies and their unity, it builds.
(“Begone Satan!”)
“HARMONY OVERLOAD!”
Darkar is made of deceit and manipulation and greed, he is all the dark emotions of the universe given form. But the Winx and their pixies are truth and trust and compassion, they are everything he isn't, and in this moment, they are stronger than him.
The light of their convergence washes over Darkar, and when it fades, he is gone.
The negative emotions which made him continue to exist, but their manifest form is erased.
With Darkar gone, the portal he and possessed Bloom created, destabilises, affecting Relix in turn. Bloom looks around wide eyed as the small island world begins to shake, she calls for Kiko, who yells from nearby the backdoor portal. Bloom tells him to go, and the fairies and pixies rush to join him. Kiko emerges from the portal with the girls hot on his tail.
Their power use catches up with them, and they collapse to the floor, de-transforming. Nearby, the boys turn from where they've been standing guard, Mirta and Lucy likewise make their way over, but Diaspro is kneeling on the ground, arms outstretched.
Tremors work their way through the room, and Diaspro flinches every time they do. Sky tells the Winx that Diaspro has been holding the room together, it started crumbling shortly after they killed the last monster. Diaspro gets up carefully, and corrects that the entire citadel is starting to crumble, and they need to leave.
Bloom sweeps Kiko into her arms, distractedly she notices he's holding something, but the group is hurried out of the room before she can check what it is. The Specialists help the Winx out through the corridors.
The group is met part way by other members from the volunteers, who help usher them the rest of the way out.
The entire assembled group makes the slog back to Downland, where the wounded and weary are seen to. Bloom almost cries in relief when she finds out they didn't lose a single student, teacher or Downlander. Then lets out a 'ha!' when she finds out the Trix have been captured by the teachers, and will be sent to a deep stasis prison planet called The Omega Dimension.
Amentia holds a party to celebrate, but the Winx and their support team stay just long enough to be polite.
(Amentia takes one look at them five minutes into the party and tells Stella to 'get out, your face is disturbing me, and take your friends too.')
They exit the caverns to the landing field filled with transports just as the sun rises. Bloom finally takes a moment to look down at her rabbit...
and freaks the heck out.
When she calms down, Bloom realises she really should have put it together sooner.
Kiko was the reason Darkar had been distracted long enough for Bloom to put it all together in Relix, because Kiko had been the one to steal the Crystal of Power.
And he hadn't had time to put it back before the magic backlash from the portal had destabilised the world.
The group follows Bloom's example and proceed to freak the heck out when they too realise that Kiko is holding the Crystal of Power. They debate amongst themselves what to do, all of them tired, none of them thinking straight, they recoil at the idea of telling Faragonda, let alone the other two heads.
Some one suggests Daphne, and the group jump on the idea. They rush aboard The Sparx and make for Lake Roccaluce at the fastest (legal) speed possible.
When they reach her and explain the situation, Daphne spends almost ten minutes freaking out about the danger her sister was in, before she realises what they'd brought her.
(“Man, I thought you were cool and mysterious.” “I am cool and mysterious! But that is THE Crystal of Power! Do you understand what it IS?!?!?!?” “Kind of! Can you help us or not?!”)
Daphne explains that she was stuck between worlds because she was transferring the contents of a magical vault to a mobile pocket dimension, similar to Relix; so she might, theoretically, be able to put the Crystal in this pocket dimension.
The group sorts themselves out on the shore in the early morning light as Daphne and Bloom prepare to transfer the Crystal between them, agreeing that, if it works, the pocket dimension would be the safest place for it.
Stella uses the sun to rejuvenate herself, passing the energy along to Bloom, who uses it, and a touch of the Dragon Flame, to craft the... 'magical pathway' the Crystal will take. It is not a spell, but a reaching of familial magic, from Bloom to Daphne to the pocket, it is crafted with intent and instinct more than anything else.
From the outside, it looks like Bloom is covered with Daphne's ethereal glow as she passes the Crystal to her older sister, who takes it, pain spreading across her face.
As she takes the Crystal and shifts it into the pocket dimension, Daphne begins to scream. The group move, gathering close, then backing off realising they can't do anything but crowd the older woman.
Bloom reaches, but the magic is complete, and she can no longer touch her sister, who writhes in agony before her.
It feels like forever to the group, but it is only a moment before Daphne stills, her screams petering out to whimpers, then silence.
Daphne sits up slowly and lets out an intentional 'ow,' before asking the group to never make her do that again. While the magic was successful, it tore at the edges of Daphne's suspended mortality, allowing her to feel the painful death-spell that had been paused by her trapped state. It didn't move her closer or further from death, it just hurt. A lot.
Bloom nods and agrees and apologises over and over. Daphne waves her apologies off, because the pain is already gone, and her sister didn't intend for her to be in pain.
The tension dissipates when someone's stomach rumbles loudly, reminding them all that they hadn't eaten since the night before.
Stella calls a take out place in Magix and offers double if they'd deliver to the shore of Lake Roccaluce ASAP.
While they wait, Bloom finally changes out of her pyjamas, slipping into an old outfit of Daphne's they hadn't cleaned out of the closet on The Sparx.
They also bring out some picnic blankets to rest on while they ate.
(“why do you even have picnic blankets and a closet on the ship, Daphne?” “It was technically a pleasure craft-” “EW!” “not like that! It's a girl's-road-trip ship, not a world-saving battle cruiser, we just tended to use it for that because I was the only one with their own ship.”)
They spend the day relaxing by the lake with Daphne, eating take out and napping. Lucy spends a large chunk of time feeling uncomfortable, until the group is joined by pixies from the pixie village, who'd gotten word of their friends on the shore.
Mirta finds herself Bonding with a pixie named Jolly, and Lucy doesn't even have time to be jealous when a baby pixie bumps into her, and a strong Bond snaps into place between Lucy and Glim.
Daphne laughs at the group's shock, and explains that pixies can bond with any magical species, they just have a naturally higher compatibility rating with fairies, which led to the misbelief only fairies could Bond with pixies.
Lucy is delighted, and spends the rest if the day taking notes as Aisha gives her a full run down of not just having a Bonded pixie, but a Bonded baby pixie.
When Faragonda finds them late in the afternoon, they tell her everything that happened, concerning the Crystal of Power.
The headmistress understands, and agrees, they made the right choice, as unfortunate and regrettable as the pain it caused Daphne might have been.
When they tell her what happened in Relix, Faragonda lets them know how proud she is of them, and amazed that they had managed to do what she and her team hadn't at their age. She also tells them that the Trix have begun their journey to Omega, and that they should arrive on the ice planet in a day or two.
Upon learning they're being sent to an ice planet, the group expresses concern that Icy, the Witch of Ice would be able to escape.
Faragonda assures them that the Trix's powers are still burnt out, and their Gloomix incomplete, they've taken every measure possible to secure the witches, and there were no other prisons strong enough to hold them.
The group accepts that every thing that could be done, has been done, and the Trix were as secured as they were going to get, try to enjoy what's left of the day.
Until Musa pipes up with “at least this deciding battle didn't interfere with an exam block” and the group realises they have only two weeks of study time before exams start.
The group say their goodbyes to Daphne, and head back to Alfea, where the Specialist, Diaspro and Lucy all head off.
