Get To You Know Tag Game
Thank you to @faelanvance and @writingently for the tag! (And also @kyofsonder as well, I missed that in my notifcations!)
--
What is your favorite color? I love too many. I'm going to say blue here.
What are you currently reading? Last night, I read front to end Cage of Stars by Jacquelyn Mitchard.
What was the last song you listened to? Toy Soldiers by Mariana's Trench (which like YONAKA's Seize the Power, is kind of apart of the soundtrack of Halos and Poppies WIP)
What was the last tv series you watched? I only really tune in to watch true crime programs if anything, but other than that very little in TV.
What was the last movie you watched? White Oleander. I like the book a lot better.
Are you a sweet, savory, or spicy person? I am not really picky, I love them all. (Kind of a foodie here lmao).
What are you currently working on? Halos and Poppies WIP, piece by piece. And kind of making a list of my many WIP ideas.

25. GRIEF - Do you regret killing off any characters?
31. LUST - Who is your hottest OC?
32. METAL - Can you write fight scenes?
Thanks for the questions Anna :) I loved answering all of them
25. GRIEF - Do you regret killing off any characters?
Do I regret killing off a character? Well is it weird if I say no? I avoid creating characters solely for the purpose of killing them off at any point in the story, but when a character dies it has to contribute to the plot and development of the other characters.
I do mourn my characters tho and ngl made myself cry very recently while writing that scene in The Heir's Curse were one of the characters died. Not gonna spoil who it is of course, but I broke the hearts of his friends and my own while writing it. He was the sweetest bean and surely didn't deserve to go in such a way...
*sigh* I will be nice to my characters at some point...eventually...in the future...I promise lol XD
31. LUST - Who is your hottest OC?
Well if we take this question literally I'd have to say Prince Enver because:
I was hot, far too hot. My fingers, resting on the window sill, felt like glowing pieces of coal and when the smell of burnt wood hit my nose I knew they didn't just feel that way. Cursing, I took a step back and looked at my hands. My fingertips glowed crimson and panic doubled my heartbeat. No, no, no. This could not be happening. Not now. Not again.
lol
But I know that's not how the question is meant ;) When it comes to looks and also personality wise I'd say the title of my hottest OC goes to Baz all the way
It's not only his *sculptured by the gods* jawline or the dimples that appear when he smiles that make him attractive, not at all with all the scars adorning his body, but it's the way he carries an air of mystery around him and the way he cares about his friends and the sacrifices he is willing to make to protect his own. Plus the way he presents himself to the world as the cunning, serious and sometimes outright devious pirate captain, but underneath managed to keep his easy-going, teasing nature after all he's been through makes him attractive. He'll only show this side of him to people he truly trusts tho.
Let me put this snippet here, because I really love him in this scene (it's Robyn's POV):
Before I could react, the soldier had already fired. Frozen, I expected the inevitable pain, but it never came. Instead, I was knocked off my feet by something heavy. A dull thud and a painful groan reached my ears. It took me a few moments to get my racing heart under control before I realised what was happening. And who was lying on top of me, shielding me from the raining arrows. "Baz," I brought out with a gasp, and hearing his name, he looked up. His stormy eyes were glazed over, and though his body twitched in pain, his mouth twisted into a wry grin. "Hello birdie, there you are." That was as far as he got as a violent cough shook his body. My eyes widened as he struggled to push himself up onto his arms. "You're hit!" My heart hammered hard in my chest as my eyes fell on the arrow sticking out of the front of his chest. It must have missed his heart by only inches. He looked down at himself and I swallowed at the sight of his bloodied teeth. How by the stars was he still grinning? Even a stupid dimple appeared as he lifted his gaze back up to me. "And that's really inconvenient, but for now we have to get you out of here."
32. METAL - Can you write fight scenes?
Actually I think I can and I quite enjoy the dynamic of fight scenes. :) I like to put in dialogue a lot, banter or back and forth between enemy and hero just so the scene doesn't feel like a static sequence of description of different moves.
This is just a minor fight scene since I have yet to get to the main battles in my WIP, but maybe you can see from it what I mean :)
Baz POV:
"Fight all you want, you're outnumbered." To my horror, more guards kept pouring into the hall. There were just too many. I fended off two more attackers when something flashed beside me. I blinked and paused, as did the attacking guards. As my eyes adjusted to the sudden light, a short laugh escaped me. Faolán did it! Where a few seconds ago there was only him and me, there were now several versions of Faolán scattered across the room, as well as multiple versions of myself. The guards looked around in confusion and Dragon cried out in anger. "An illusion! Find them and kill them! I want my artefact!" The guards didn't need to be told twice. They pounced on the first versions of Faolán and me. One of my illusions raised its sword to block an attack, but when the guard cut off its head it dissolved into mist. "Now that wasn't very nice," I said, wincing as someone grabbed me by the arm. "No time for that," Faolán hissed as he pulled me towards the exit, "The illusion won't last long."

Favorite sentence you wrote this year?
Most important writing lesson you learned this year?
What was the highlight of your writing/writing career this year?
How would you summarize the themes of your work this year in one sentence?
Who was your favorite character to write?
Summarize your writing project in 5 key words.
If your original fiction were an AO3 fic, what would the tags be?
continuing the backlog saga. lee i am so sorry for the amount of "ask answered" notifs you will get in the coming days
favourite sentence:
ok so my favourite singular sentence is:
He was born for greatness, and destined for nothing, and too alone to see those in front of him.
it's from the rose librarians and i think it captures the tragedy of charlie. BUT, if i am allowed to cheat and provide a few context lines, my actual favourite line is on the other side, he had his monsters. context:
And that was when he cracked. The boy did not know it yet, but that day, his heart of ice split down the middle.
On one side, he had the acceptable emotions within him. His joy, however infrequent. His kindness. His humour. His smiles. His love.
On the other side, he had his monsters.
most important writing lesson:
probably that as someone with a myriad of problems mental and physical, i cannot hold myself to the standards i had been. it's okay if i don't write a lot, it's okay if i feel too scattered or sick or foggy. it's not a flaw, it's just part of my writing experience.
highlight of my writing career this year:
probably coming up with the entire plot of TRL in two days and then drafting half of it in like a month haha.
summarize the themes:
"you deserve to be cared for. you cannot do this alone."
val saintly, rose librarians, gfs... they all have it. even gilded/rotten, the other ones, and dat, my much sadder and more horrific works, still have that underlying theme in some way.
character:
hmmm probably corey or astrophel. fucked up trans guys ftw
summarize:
im gonna do this for two of them
GFS: friendship, grief, vengeance, magic, healing.
Val Saintly: travel, self-acceptance, responsibility, safety, rest.
if it were on AO3:
ill do this for the gilded and the rotten!
polyamory, heists, angst, hurt/eventual comfort but it takes a long af time to get there, graphic depictions of violence, major character death, gallows humour, religious themes, everyone is gay, everyone is trans, everyone is neurodivergent, unhinged wlw

New Writeblr Game-Guess Who is Looking Fire?
Okay so basically you have to say one outfit you feel like fire in, and an outfit one of your characters from one of your wips (or just one of your characters!) feels like fire in.
Me-
A sage green cropped tank top with my favorite pair of jean shorts and white flip flops
Harry-
A striped polo button up shirt with a white t-shirt underneath and his favorite cream colored pants with his favorite pair of converse, and sunglasses.
I’m going to tag some people and hope this doesn’t fail miserably (which it almost definitely will) but there is no pressure if you’d prefer not to!
@kjscottwrites @saedoeswriting @avaeverstone @vi-writes @happystarfishnightmare @thepixiediaries @screnwriter
Have a great rest of your day/night!!

For the WWYCD ask game, 13 (thing they didn't believe turns out to be true) and 20 (girl scout selling cookies at their door)!
Hey, thanks for the ask! I'm gonna write about my OC Jasper because I have an unhealthy obsession with him.
13. if they found out something they didn’t believe was real actually is?
So Jasper is pretty dramatic, and so I imagine the first step to finding out something he didn't believe was true would be absolute, straight-faced denial. Like, he could be looking at the thing in question, and he'd still absolutely swear down it wasn't real or didn't exist. After that, he'd probably ridicule it, say it's a stupid thing so it doesn't make a difference if he believes in it or not (to distract from the fact that it probably should have been pretty obvious to him that it's real because god forbid he admit he's wrong). Then the final step would be pure sulking as a form of acceptance. Because he's a complete manchild. I love him.
20. if there was a girl scout at their door trying to sell them cookies?
So I can fully see this man deadass trying to haggle with a tiny little girl about the price of the cookies, trying to get as many as he can for the lowest price. He'd definitely approach it like the serious business deal it is, with negotiation and threats just kidding he's a sweetheart really. He would definitely bulk buy a large amount because he has a terrible sweet tooth, and he would TOTALLY hide them around the house so that no one else could get into his stash.

Elemental Writer Asks
counting @bodoramzap 's unofficial tag as an invitation to do this
tagging: @writeouswriter and @fmarieray
Rumor has is that this once started out as an ask game, but unfortunately I don't know who started it. If it's you, let me know and I'll drop your @!
Water: How did you start writing? Honestly, I started writing in middle school. It began as writing roleplays with my friends, but then I fell in love with characters who's backgrounds I really wanted to explore.
Earth: What do you think is the foundation of your WIP? Honestly, the theme of one's right to equality and representation.
Fire: What’s a scene that you are dying to write? The one that I'm currently stuck on. :)
Air: What’s the easiest part of writing for you? Big picture planning. I can come up with large overarching plots relatively easily, but get lost in the little details.
Shadows: What’s the darkest theme you’ve ever written about? I'm terrible at writing any form of conflict, but the most stomach-churning things I've written are about sexual assault and a graphic description of an execution.
Lightning: What’s the most shocking plot twist you’ve ever come up with? I don't really have an answer for this one, I feel like I never write anything close enough to completion for large plot twists.
Rain: Have you ever made yourself cry with your own writing?  If so, what was it? Literally today, writing about some religious trauma for an OCs background.
Grass: What’s the biggest change you’ve made in your WIP since you started it? It started out as trying to save a person and turned into trying to save a nation.
Ice: What do you always get stuck on when writing? Conflict, conflict, conflict. I'm so happy to work on all other aspects of my work, but the climax escapes me. Always.
Sand: What’s the softest scene you’ve ever written? I think that's yet to be written.
Rock: How do you deal with writer’s block? I don't.
Clouds: How clearly do you picture a scene before you start writing it down? Honestly, I usually wing my writing. I've recently started to put more effort into worldbuilding so that I'm better at establishing scenes.
Metal: What’s the hardest part of writing for you? Oftentimes, coming up with dialogue. That, and stopping myself from overusing reiteration for emphasis.
Space: Where’s your favorite place to write? I love sitting at my desk on a rainy day, with incense burning and a nice beverage. :) I'm into beverages.
Spirit: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received on your writing? I think the highest compliment to me is always when someone leans into my writing. Like, literally gets closer to it because they're so invested.
Psionics: How do you get into the heads of your characters? I make them playlists or moodboards!
Summer: How do you know when you need a break from writing? When my head aches, my eyes are dry, and my words are blurring together.
Winter: Have you ever written a story based on a holiday?  If yes, which holiday was it for and what was it like? Nope!
Spring: Have you ever scrapped (a huge chunk of) a story to start over?  Why did the change come about? Recently I completely started my longest wip from scratch. I kept the ideas of the OCs but changed their names/personalities/challenges completely.
Fall: Have you ever completely abandoned a WIP?  What led to that decision? I don't ever intentionally abandon my work. I usually get burnt out and tell myself that I'll finish it later. When later comes back around, I end up having a completely different idea that I want to get down.

6. EARTH, 11. WALNUT, and 15. BRONZE for the BROWN - WRITEBLR ASK GAME?
6. Earth. Do you prefer world building or character creation?
Uhh, it's a mixed bag, really. Both are beasts with their unique hurdles to jump. But, I feel like world building allows me to stretch my creative muscles a bit more than character creation does, so I'll go with that.
11. Walnut. Who was your favourite childhood author?
Emily Rodda! Her books made my tweens. Catherine Lasky is a close second with the Guardians of Ga'Hoole.
15. Bronze. What character dynamic are you most skilled at writing?
Hmm. I'm really not sure. I like to bounce between dynamics a lot, as I enjoy trying out all different kinds of ways to write characters and how they interact with the world.
Ask game in question- feel free to send more in!

Heads Up Seven Up
Tagged once by @kyofsonder (thank you again!)
This game is to share the last seven lines of my WIP - so more of Halos and Poppies!
--
The deep thud of his heartbeat resonated throughout Orazio’s body. His eyes darted every which way from the alleyway. There was no way at this point they were being followed, not after…*that* happened. He had never seen anything like it and whatever it was, it still seemed to reverberate through all his senses and didn’t want to leave.
He looked over, to see Sellie crumpled low. She had her head bowed, averting his gaze. Her shoulders had drooped. It wouldn’t be surprising that she was likely exhausted.

12 Disease for the writeblr ask game?
Thanks for the ask Archer! :)
12. DISEASE - If you had to live in a setting of your creation, which would you pick?
This question had me think for a while because there is more than one place in my world, that I quite like, but if I had to live there permanently I'd choose Celnaer.
Celnaer is a crescent moon-shaped island lying south-west from the continent with a mild climate and lush vegetation, hidden coves in the forest, and beautiful beaches between cliffs at the coast. During spring and summertime the whole island is dotted in blues, purples, pinks and whites from various wild blooming hydrangeas and the air is filled with the delicate scent of the blooming lilacs. But even during winter it doesn't get very cold, there's never snow on Celnaer, just rain.
The island is ruled by women, namely the Sisters of the Stars, an order of priestesses who worship Astrea, The Great Mother and goddess of the night and stars. The temple of the sisterhood is the true gem of the island, its buildings shaped like the different phases of the moon and built from alabaster white stone. Violence is forbidden on Celnaer and the priestesses serve the few civilians that live on the island as healers, teachers and advocates.
I'd not live in the temple tho but rather in the small town at the coast, preferably above Brandon's bakery and watch from my window as merchant ships come and go, looking out if I can spot a pirate ship with midnight blue sails accidentaly finding its way into the haven. ;)

Hey Writeblr,
I have a very specific request.
Will you tell me about your old OCs? I'm talking like middle school/high school edgy OCs. The ones who make you cringe when you remember them, because they're so awful. The Mary-Sue's, the self-inserts. The ones you would never ever ever resurrect because oh my gods they're irredeemable. The over-powered ones. The dark-haired boys with crooked smiles and ocean orbs. The girls who are so not like those other girls.
I'd like to hear about them please! I desire to know them!

water, fire, psionics for the ask game :)
Water: How did you start writing?
when i was a tiny young Nico, a published author visited my school and talked about her writing. she challenged us to write a short story. I did, never finished it, but i started to like writing from that moment on! it's a neat little origin story if i do say so myself (i do)
Fire: What’s a scene that you are dying to write?
uhhhh probably Quinn's breakdown scene in Oddities, where she 1) has very sad very autistic feelings, and 2) shortly after, realizes how incredibly loved she really is by her friends.
Psionics: How do you get into the heads of your characters?
this is a Bad Answer, but I don't really... have a specific way lol. I just kinda get to know who they are and how they think and then I'm in their head?
Plus for the GFS characters in particular, I've had them stewing in my brain for sooooo long that getting into their heads is just. not hard at all anymore.

Writers of Tumblr, I have an ask game for you all!
Please reblog and answer these questions, maybe tag others too! My asks are also open for them.
By the way, please support me as an artist by reblogging my The Forgotten Legends of Chima content.
What is the main lesson of your story (e.g. kindness, diversity, anti-war), and why did you choose it?
What did you use as inspiration for your worldbuilding (like real-life cultures, animals, famous media, websites, etc.)?
What is your MC trying to achieve, and what are you, the writer, trying to achieve with them? Do you want to inspire others, teach forgiveness, help readers grow as a person?
How many chapters is your story going to have?
Is it fanfiction or original content? Where do you plan to post it?
When and why did you start writing?
Do you have any words of engagement for fellow writers of Writeblr? What other writers of Tumblr do you follow?
