Round 1: Ye Qi Ran (My Tooth Your Love) vs Pat (My School President)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Submitted Reasons Under Cut]
Ye Qi Ran: "One of the main characters was IN LOVE with Qi Ran all throughout school. He did everything for this man, but when he confessed, Qi Ran ran away. He got married and had a kid, only to return and vow to get his ex(?) back. His ex was over it, but that didn't stop Qi Ran from trying, which included him talking and becoming friendly with his ex's new guy. He found out he knew the new guy's sister, and they went from enemies to MARRIED. To recap Qi Ran's bisexual swag: he had a man in uni doing EVERYTHING for him short of breathing for him, he left him, got married, had a kid, came back, befriended the ex's new guy, THEN MARRIED HIS SISTER. That's another level of finesse! Who else can go from having a man cater to them to marrying that man's boyfriend's sister?! Nobody! That's bisexual's cajones. Qi Ran couldn't lose. Either way, he was getting his son a new daddy OR a new mommy. You can't hold a determined bisexual down. Swag."
Pat: "Boyfriend written out of the script during workshops. Absolutely bitchless by the end of the show despite trying his hardest to pull literally anyone. Fun tie-dye shirt and overall combo."

Would mk/Qi xiaotian make macaque chase him around flower fruit mountain thinking it's like a game of tag and making him accidentally fall into the waterfall.
I loved 'the day the world eclipsed' fanfic and that mini comic you did of macaque and mk ❤️❤️
I really should have just said, "Yeah that is a great idea! I love that!!" but instead, I drew this XD Cause YES~! THAT IS A GREAT IDEA!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Not quite into the river, but you just know they ran wildly through it at some point in this Tag Game XD Literally love this idea so much.
It's adorable! (Also me drawing the first picture on a different day and then everything else on the same day and seeing the little differences and it's driving me crazy XD)

oh boy, now that chapter 17 is posted I can talk about some of the extras that I want to write in full at some point! since that’s rather far off in the future (and probably a lot of work when second-hand alibis still has its own Incredible Amount of Work left), have some quick and dirty snippets/ideas of what they might look like.
first one is a "su xiyan lives" spin-off:
exactly what it says on the tin. shen yuan makes a deal with the system (which would have to be somewhat less strict in this scenario) or he gets his hands on a macguffin or something and manages to make it to the luo river in time to help su xiyan through luo binghe’s birth and save her life afterwards
that, then, leaves them both desperately injured with a (somewhat unhappy) baby in the middle of winter when huan hua is undoubtably searching for them and their only allies probably think shen yuan and su xiyan betrayed them
shen yuan has the bright idea to lead them down the river to the washerwoman who was luo binghe’s adopted mother in proud immortal demon way. she’s kind enough to take them in, softened immensely by the baby and by how injured and grief-stricken shen yuan and su xiyan are
shen yuan and su xiyan slap up every (subtle) barrier and disguise and warding talisman that they can possibly think of to help hide them from any huan hua searchers, before collapsing from the expenditure of energy. shen yuan possibly uses his altered-but-no-longer-untested body-stasis talisman on su xiyan, who is predictably Not Amused by the recklessness of shen yuan having used this on himself, but it gives them more time to handle the poison while also allowing su xiyan’s qi to replenish itself and hold off the effects of the poison trying to kill her while they find an actual cure for it (assuming shen yuan's macguffin/system deal wasn't enough)
they both heal. they help around the house as much as possible, and gift the washerwoman with as much money as she’ll take from them, which is far less than she deserves for all the kindness she’s showing them. eventually, they’re healed enough to begin moving again, and they judge that it’s likely too dangerous to stay this close to huan hua any longer.
before they go, though, there’s the matter of tianlang-jun. they debate for days—is it too dangerous to try and check on him? do they think zhuzhi-lang was sealed as well? what happens if they’re captured by huan hua? what will happen to binghe? (yes, luo binghe ended up with the same name as canon. shen yuan only suggested the “binghe” portion of the name, but su xiyan came up with and ran with the “luo” portion of it, because it’s far too conspicuous for a child to be running around with her surname, isn’t it? shen yuan, twin brother of shen qingqiu, keeps his mouth shut.)
in the end, they decide that they’ll take their chances now, while there’s still enough chaos and confusion from the end of the battle + setting up how the guard on tianlang-jun is going to look long-term for them to get close. better yet, if they can find zhuzhi-lang, then they won’t even have to get all the way to bailu mountain.
whatever happens, it ends up being a bit of a mess. zhuzhi-lang is not happy, but shen yuan has spent years being one of his favorite people, and both he and su xiyan are still moving pretty gingerly when they manage to find him. in the end, zhuzhi-lang believes what they tell him about the betrayals committed against them, too, and agrees to carry the news to tianlang-jun (and plead their case, should he prove unwilling to listen).
after that…su xiyan and shen yuan beat feet out of huan hua territory, taking binghe (and possibly the washerwoman!) with them to live a life as rogue cultivators. cue years of sneaking back into bailu forest to visit zhuzhi-lang and tianlang-jun and try to figure out the best way to help tianlang-jun escape. shen yuan helps zhuzhi-lang get ahold of some sun and moon dew mushrooms, but warns that unless they experiment wildly and are also exceedingly lucky, the mushroom body will fail pretty quickly with a demon inhabitant instead of a human one.
I imagine that this au would either end up as a su xiyan/tianlang-jun/shen yuan throuple, or zhuzhi-lang might finally shoot his shot with shen yuan and actually get somewhere with it. I lean toward su xiyan/tianlang-jun/shen yuan, just because there’s only so many times you can pretend to be married with a child, spending literal years working toward a common goal and in close proximity and with shared fondness, before you fall into an actual relationship. tianlang-jun is on board with this when it’s explained to him—shen yuan is great! (the wife-beam strikes again, it just took a little bit longer with tianlang-jun because he was so focussed on su xiyan)
also it’s deeply funny to imagine shen yuan reuniting with shen jiu (+ yue qingyuan) and cang qiong mountain sect and boldly gesturing toward binghe and declaring, “this is my son.” yeah, this carbon copy of su xiyan, with eyes that are notably not hers or shen yuan’s? suuure. the other peak lords aren’t going to argue, though, because shen qingqiu looks way too willing to fight them (read: yell at them) about it, and that’s almost never worth it. plus, like, what do they care?
shen qingqiu, notably, doesn’t believe that luo binghe is shen yuan’s biological son, but apparently he is shen yuan’s adopted son (son by marriage?), so it’s really all the same thing. he’s doing some math about the tianlang-jun situation (as is yue qingyuan) and not liking the answers that he’s come up with, but if shen yuan wants to keep the child, then let him. better to allow a half-demon on his mountain than to lose his brother again.
shang qinghua is losing his shit in the background. you did what with my protagonist’s parents?! my cabbages plot!!!

I hope y'all had a good 4/20. Anyway, here's more Sheepzun.
---
Finding his way out of the caves was much easier than going in. The flow of qi seemed easier for him to discern, and his senses were stronger. How curious! He was sure he'd be able to sense predators much easier now.
He cloaked himself in his qi and snuck out the caves, ensuring no one was looking at or for him. This time around, it seemed he had enough qi to do so easier than before, not feeling any pull or strain on his meridians.
He was a right chuffed lad, all things considered!
Shen Yuan made his way back to Qing Jing Peak without much of an issue. Disciples didn't seem to sense his hiding. Those with stronger cultivation did seem to look around, a tad unsettled if anything, but overall, none of them saw through his illusion.
It also helped that he was a prey animal who preferred to not leave things up to risk or chance when being careful was a perfectly reasonable option.
As he travelled, he noticed that the season seemed a little different. A tad on the warmer side than he last remembered. He had entered a few days after spring began, and the flowers he remembered were supposed to bloom seemed to already be at the end of its blooming cycle...
Was it the end of spring? Goodness, time flew!!
Thankfully, not an excessive amount of time passed since, upon making his way out of the forest near the woodshed, Luo Binghe didn't look too much taller. Yes, at the very least, only a few days or weeks had passed.
Hearing Shen Yuan's purposeful rustling, Luo Binghe's slightly pointy ears almost seemed to twitch. Then, he turned around quickly, eyes wide and swiftly becoming watery with unshed tears.
"Shizun!!"
Shen Yuan huffed, amused as the boy, sticky as ever, ran up to him and immediately hugged him around the neck.
"Shizun! Shizun, you came back! Shizun!!"
'Who do you keep calling out for, ah? I'm right here,' Shen Yuan thought.
Luo Binghe went still.
"...Shizun?"
'Yes?'
The boy suddenly let go of him and leaned back, staring right into his eyes. Then, slowly, like the flowers he missed bloom at the start of spring, Luo Binghe's smile spread across his face in a vibrant flourish.
"Shizun!! Shizun, you can talk now?!"
Shen Yuan paused, blinking.
'...You can hear what this one is...saying.'
"Yes, I can! I can finally understand you, Shizun! Has my cultivation gotten better? Is... Is this because of what you taught me?"
I don't know, what the heck?! This is scary!!
So, if he was actually thinking as though he was speaking to Luo Binghe, then the boy would actually hear it? After all, he wasn't responding to his thoughts now. Was this because he taught a spirit creature's Dao to a human that he became Dr. Dolittle? That's an entire genre change!
...Whatever that was supposed to mean! Who even was Dr. Dolittle?!
'...Indeed, it seems likely. However, this one admits that this is the first time he's taught this Dao to a human,' Shen Yuan replies, his mind in utter disarray and panic. 'As much as you are a student, this ram is still learning himself.'
There's no precedent for this! I'm sorry, Binghe! This ram is only about a year old!
Luo Binghe looked as though the meaning of the Dao was explained to him in elementary terms, as though he made a huge mental breakthrough with his words alone.
"I see... Thanking Shizun for his knowledge and education all this time!"
He bowed so respectfully, Shen Yuan immediately felt like a terrible saber-toothed wolf dressed up like a newly born spirit lamb to prey on the little human's trust.
But, well, he was at least somewhat honest just now. He really was also a student in all of this.
'This ram thanks you as well. Even through our language barrier, you've been an exemplary student. Now that we can understand each other more freely, we can further improve your cultivation.'
"Yes, Shizun! I'm looking forward to it!"
Shit.
[More under the cut, this one just got kinda long]
----
Okay, so, it wasn't all that bad.
One, it really was much easier to speak with Bing-lamb, and the boy seemed to flourish further under his his verbal guidance. He didn't really have to say much, though. Whatever Luo Binghe lacked in prowess, he was steadily making up for it in motivation.
All Shen Yuan had to do was correct him a little here and there based on whatever kind of strange animal instinct he had that said,
'This stance is a little off. Keep you knees elastic. Firm, but ready.'
or
'You must connect with your surroundings and hone to your senses. Humans, as predators, rely strongly on their eyes. But you must learn to use your nose, ears, and touch as well.'
"What about taste, Shizun?"
'There are some things a mouth shouldn't touch. We can build up to that as you learn more.'
Though, perhaps he asked such questions because Shen Yuan occasionally found himself chewing on Luo Binghe's clothes. It was more affectionate grooming for the boy than anything, honestly. But he was also a prey creature rather than a human, so it could be excused as such.
Two, after Luo Binghe's lessons with the human instructors, Luo Binghe would sometimes ask him for questions and clarification as he did the pile of chores constantly assigned to him. What was with all these duties, anyway? Weren't all of the disciples supposed to do these things? They were working too hard on purpose, but why?
Anyway, despite not being a human, it turned out Shen Yuan could read quite well. He wasn't sure where he'd learned such a skill, but it was nice to see it be useful. So, because Luo Binghe's questions never got answered in class, as the boy's Shizun, he took it upon himself to do his best to help.
It meant he sometimes had to get a bit creative with how he explained things, but he was doing well enough, it seemed.
Of course, there were limits to what he could do.
As a ram, teaching the four arts was mostly out of the question. Give him some paints and he could maybe bang something out on a canvas, but he had no guarantee it would look like anything useful or recognizable. Same for a guqin or calligraphy.
Go...well, if the pieces and board were big enough, maybe. But anyway, he had his limitations. Not that Luo Binghe seemed to see any of them. With the way Shen Yuan loafed and Luo Binghe sat in front of him, his workbook open, one would think he'd hung the moon.
It was...admittedly very nice to be so appreciated.
Also, getting petted. He'd stopped for a bit after they first spoke, but Luo Binghe did it by accident again later. When Shen Yuan stayed quiet without scolding the action and slightly shifting his head closer, well, he got the picture.
And snacks. Luo Binghe didn't have access to a full kitchen for reasons he didn't understand, but Shen Yuan just knew. The day he had kitchen privileges, it was over for Qing Jing Peak. They'd become Qing Jing Restaurant or something.
Although he still had to be careful, he found he was actually starting to enjoy living the way he was now. He didn't feel the need to look over his shoulder as often, Prey and predator, bridging the gap, huh? What a lovely story.
As Luo Binghe improved, keeping his sheep shizun a secret, several more months passed. Spring turned into summer, into fall, into winter, into spring, into the touches of summer heat once more.
Over that year, Luo Binghe grew taller and broader. His shoulders were starting to fill out, his hands and feet better sized for his body. From his experience working with his shizun's hair-like wool, he learned how to take care of his own hair better, the curls becoming shinier and tamable, no longer as difficult to pull into a ponytail. He also learned all the little nooks and crannies of Qing Jing Peak after going foraging with his shizun, and the mountain climbing and hunting he'd done for himself.
He'd thought his shizun would be against him hunting the birds and other creatures on and around the peak, but though he never partook himself, he was ambivalent.
'You are human. Even sheep eat meat when necessary. For you, it's even more so. This ram shan't fault his student for doing the best for himself.'
And so, with his own hunting skills built up, despite still living and sleeping in the wood shed and lacking some of the more artistic prowess of his sect siblings, he's grown considerably in strength, speed, and build. As he sometimes heard his shizun murmur, 'Born to Bai Zhan, raised to Qing Jing, manages both.'
Meanwhile, Shizun himself...
Luo Binghe had visited Xin Ya Peak before, alongside some of his sect siblings. He'd seen what spirit sheep normally looked like--fluffy, with slightly curved horns, and a nice sheen to their wool. Not particularly tall--mostly reaching around their knees or thighs.
Shizun, however, drew much more regal of a figure. His wool was less fluffy but somehow even softer. He was taller, too, reaching up to the bottom of Luo Binghe's chest. His horns had grown out considerably, to the point they were curling outward. Unlike his farmed comrades, Shizun was exceptionally fastidious. Though, it likely helped he was not locked into a barn or kept around mud. So, he was not only impeccably clean, but he kept a long, undocked tail that swayed behind him with his steps.
He kept his wool a beautiful shade of ivory white. The only discolorations were the slightly green tones that occasionally hung onto his stomach and legs from loafing on the grasses around the bamboo forest and the ever-present blood red huadian on his forehead. Moreover, after Shizun had returned from wherever he'd gone, his eyes had changed. Irises that were once a striking brown had become a soothing blue-green color, much like the peak colors of Qing Jing.
Perhaps spirit animals needed less effort to attain godhood. Luo Binghe could believe it. After all, his shizun appeared like a god nowadays.
'Binghe' he'd hear, his soft and elegant voice calling out to him in the dewy mornings.
He would look up to see his shizun returning from some place he'd found his wild breakfast, leaving him to sleep longer because, as the ram said, he was a growing boy and needed it more.
The sun would peek out at just the right time to shine on his arrival, making him look ethereal, even if he was holding moss in his mouth.
'Have you eaten yet? If not, add this to your food today. It has absorbed quite a bit of yin qi. Considering your yang constitution, it will help promote more internal balance.'
Shizun places the stringy, thick moss in Luo Binghe's waiting hands.
'This is called Qiyan Root, despite not being a root at all. Strain and boil it twice for the best effect. You can also dry some of it for medicinal use. It should taste quite nice in an herbal tea.'
His shizun hummed in consideration as he tilted his head, long white lashes against the fur of his cheeks.
Luo Binghe couldn't help but wonder what his shizun would look like as a human. He was quite the handsome animal, much like one would compliment a horse for its strong physique and beautiful sheen. Surely he'd be a handsome human as well.
Though, wondering such a thing would have to wait. It was time for morning chores, then his lessons could begin in earnest.
It was after one such set of lessons with his other teachers, when he was chopping wood with his shizun at his side that the ram suddenly raised his head with a frown.
"Shizun?"
'...The air feels different. What do you sense?'
Having learned his cultivation mostly from a spirit animal rather than a human, Luo Binghe honed his senses and listened. Indeed, the peak seemed quiet. Too quiet, however.
"Something's not right... Shizun, I'll be back."
'Be careful, Binghe.'
The boy nodded in return before he ran off, Shen Yuan staying behind as he tried to better understand what this energy fluctuation actually was.
Eventually, curiosity and concern won out over wariness, and he concealed himself as he headed toward the rainbow bridges separating Qing Jing from the other peaks.
There, he found several demons cracking away at the bridge between Qing Jing and Qiong Ding. Several were smaller demons with tiny horns and large machetes in their spindly hands. They were accompanied by a larger, more boubous demon in a loincloth, using an axe to slice and wear away at the energies keeping the rainbow bridge connected.
A siege? But this is Cang Qiong, one of the most powerful sects! How could these demons have the gall?!
Shen Yuan wasn't aware of the politics that came with running a peak, so, of course, he was unaware of the peak lord's absence. Several lords were away--more than honestly permissible--leaving the little lamb-like disciples without their guard dogs. Though, judging from the coordinated actions of the demons, the little troupe he was looking at was the least of his worries.
Binghe!!
If he was running this way, then surely he would've encountered the demons! But he could smell no blood or anything from his student. Perhaps he already passed through before they arrived. After all, behind the troupe, he could see several groups of demons destroying the bridges and leaving the peaks isolated...
No, not all the peaks. Qiong Ding.
Something about this scenario struck him as...oddly familiar.
But he shoved that thought aside. Now wasn't the time for excessive questioning! His student was in danger!
As much as he liked to believe he prepared Luo Binghe for combat in some meaningful way, he would never overestimate his teaching abilities. He's a ram for fucks sake, how could he be much better than human teachers and their opposable thumbs?!
Not letting up his concealing qi, he began running across the bridge, heading straight for the small crowd of demons.
Though they couldn't see him, his weight and trotting seemed to alert them as they turned his way. Cruel smirks spread on the imps' faces as they raised their weapons and prepared to strike.
Deciding not to conceal himself anymore, he instead focused his qi on his attack, suddenly appearing before them. For some reason, they seemed surprised despite already preparing to attack him.
His qi-filled horns collided with one of their machetes, causing it to crack and shatter. Milliseconds later, the same cracking and shattering came from the imp's ribs.
Gritting his teeth, he flung his head to the right, throwing several of the imps off the cracking bridge. But he still had some momentum and wasn't done yet.
Facing the bulbous demon and its large axe, he charged up as much as he could, enough that his horns began to glow dimly.
The demon bellowed as it swung the axe, intending to split his skull. But Shen Yuan was faster.
Putting more force in his back legs, he jumped forward, tucking his front legs close to his body. His curved horns rammed against the demon's chest, the bones giving way under it. It let out a choke, then it spit up blood as the wind moved around them.
When the demon fell back, Shen Yuan blinked, realizing he was going butt up.
With a surprised bleat, his legs stretched out as the momentum had him flopping on his back above the demon's head. At least it was on solid ground! Dirt, even!
He wiggled, then quickly got himself up, shaking the dust off his head. Reorienting himself, he realized he was on Qiong Ding Peak. Huh... He didn't think the demon was so close to the land there, but maybe he miscalculated.
Anyway, Binghe!
Worried about his student, he quickly ran off to find where he was, concealing himself behind a cloak of qi once more.
Of course, Shen Yuan missed several things.
For one, the imps and demons had not noticed him at all. What they had noticed were several Qing Jing disciples arriving with their swords drawn.
Secondly, the machetes and axes the demons held were not supposed to crack so easily to a ram's horns. They were made with reinforced metals to be sturdy. A regular spirit sheep would've long lost its horns and skull to them.
Thirdly, the largest demon on the bridge had indeed been standing further away from Qiong Ding Peak, and Shen Yuan hadn't miscalculated. He just didn't realize that his body, weighing over 160 kg (352.7 lbs) plus the force of his qi-powered forward thrust was, even by physics standards, enough to blow a large demon backwards by several meters and shatter their collarbone on impact.
He'd turned his body into a literal battering ram.
Lastly, the Qing Jing disciples, whom the demons actually saw and prepared to fight, were able to witness the entire event, and were now staring, wide-eyed, at the large, mystical, disappearing sheep.
...But those were concerns for the future Shen Yuan.

do you mean like requested scenarios in dragon's cradle? i do have one in mind though
cuz i was thinking what if dan jia (yes we going for the past setting) who likes to make use of her tail at it's fullest like poking someone, waving, comforting someone but instead of a back rub using hands, she uses her tail, it's like a third arm without fingers lmao
like imagine seeing the high cloud quintet finally coming home after a long arduous battle with the denizens of abundance and she just ran to dan feng for a hug after seeing him safe and sound but with the addition of her tail also wrapping around him so it's an extra tight hug i think it's just so cute 🥺
though if you do have other plans or dislike this idea you can just ignore this no pressure
sure !! i can do this one !! i dont mind if you want to use the past setting, i can always change dan jia's name to (y/n) because its a scenario, not part of the original plot. plus, it makes it more comfortable for readers !!
This honestly is very interesting for me to read ! Thank you for the suggestion anon !!
So lets get on with it !!
Taglist ! : -

Reminder ! This is set in the past setting ! But instead of using Dan Jia, I would be using (Y/n) as an easier way for you to immerse yourselves ! I would also be renaming Blade to Yingxing ! But if you want me to change that, i can do that too !
Like Dan Feng, (Y/n) does have her tail which she keeps hidden. but from time to time, she does let it out for funsies ! It was a pretty blue color, like the color of her horns on her head and the fur is the same (h/c) color ! But she prefers to keep it hidden because its hard for her to sit down, and walk without realizing the presence of the darn extra limb. It even drapes to the floor !
Poor (Y/n)'s always so worried when the High Cloud Quintet go out to fight against the Denizens of Abundance. And as she is a healer, she is required to stay back and help with the numerous Cloud Knights that had retreated to seek medical attention from her.
Her worries usually intensifies whenever Jing Yuan comes back from battle, looking horribly injured and scratched up, bleeding here and there. Even for a general, he can still fall in battle, and that worries her alot ! She would push him to lay down on the stretchers she had prepared on the ground as she goes get some ointment.
But when she returns, he lays there perfectly fine, his hands behind his head and that playful and lazy ass smirk on his face. Jing Yuan would tell her the wounds were fake, even getting up and stretching to show her. (Y/n) would grip at her qi pao, trying to contain her anger, with a kind smile on her face when she was seething inside. Though she can hide her emotions from her face, her tail would pop out and give him a good smack in the side to show her annoyance.
Of course, Jing Yuan would merely laugh and apologize to her.
In a similar situation, Dan Feng would return to the battle unscathed. He didn't want to worry his sister unlike that jerk Jing Yuan who loved teasing (Y/n). After a long and arduous battle against the Denizens of Abundance, there was nothing more relaxing then just spending the night, staring at the moon.
Dan Feng would bring (Y/n) along, holding her hand tenderly as he lead her up the grassy hills, finding the perfect spot to admire the moon in silence while the others were wasting themselves away with alcohol. He loved that (Y/n) shared the same interest of watching the moon in silence, as they pointed out constellations of the stars.
They would then begin to talk while sitting up, to remove the sleepiness. It wasn't always that they had time like this, since Dan Feng is a High Elder and is always on the battlefield, while (Y/n) is in the backlines, healing the casualties of war. And as he told her he missed these peaceful and tranquil moments between siblings, he couldn't help but tear up.
(Y/n) would of course be saddened too. This was all stressful for the two of them. Since birth they have been burdened with heavy responsibilities, there was little to no time they had to spend on themselves. It was understandable why Dan Feng would breakdown from time to time.
Her little hands would hold his larger and calloused own, while her tail would gently wipe away Dan Feng's tears and rub at his back, earning a soft giggle from the latter.
During days when he wasn't at war, Yingxing would stay by the fire of the furnace he had installed is his home. He was indeed adept at creating weapons of war, sacrificing day and night as he shaped the weapons tirelessly. He never complained, but rather found his passion in creating such arts.
But whenever he wanted to take it easy, Yingxing would resort to making little things he adored. And that was beautiful little glass art or making accessories out of crystals. He always found them to be beautiful whenever they would shine like rainbows when hit with light from certain angles.
Once, he had invited (Y/n) out to hangout, Yingxing brought a little surprise with him. As she walked out of her home, he held her hand tenderly as he brought her to a beautiful lake, beneath the moonlight. And he surprised her with a bouquet of glass flowers that shone beautifully beneath the soft gaze of the moon, shining in different color.
(Y/n) eyes would immediately widen as she took the bouquet carefully in her hands, as if they were as fragile as glass (which they were, by the way), and set them aside tenderly. Then she would wrap her arms around the short-lived mortal tightly in her arms.
Yingxing would laugh as he looked down at the smaller dragon woman in his arms, wrapping his arms around her form. His aging grey hair began to cascade to the front of his face, obstructing his vision a little.
But Yingxing would closed his eyes and held the dragon lady close in his arms, chuckling, loving the warmth she exuded. The addition to the tail that slithered around his form wrapping him tighter to his beloved.
Outside of war and training, even Jingliu had a life of her own. She was a much more laxed individual. Some would even say she was too relaxed. She would stroll the streets, going on shopping sprees every so often, go cafe hunting, and trying out food. Of course, she would drag along the little princess of the Vidyadhara clan with her.
Jingliu loved bringing her to walk around the Exalting Sanctum. especially when there was a hot sale for dresses and shoes. Every time there was a new opening, or a new sale, Jingliu would be the first out of the five of them to pay a visit with beaming eyes and a large dreamy smile on her lips. She was the trendiest out of all of them, like, even her battle dresses are so elegant !
During the weekends, vendors would open up little stalls around the plaza and leading all around the area, lighting them up with friendly paper lanterns. Children would run around happily and couples would walk around, filling the night market with chatter and laughter, bringing warmth all around. And Jingliu loved bringing (Y/n) around every time they could, just for a little relaxation.
She was relieved that the uptight Imbibator Lunae would allow his little sister to go out for fun with her friend every once in a while, with the same old condition. Never let (Y/n) out of sight. And Jingliu was tired of hearing the same thing over and over again even though she was sure (Y/n) was able to take care of herself pretty well.
With their hands full of purchases from the market, ranging from snacks and delicacies to clothing and accessories, they had no hands free told hold hands in case they got separated. Every so often Jingliu would look next to her, just to make sure (Y/n) was there beside her.
But with the tail wrapped firmly around the sword master's waist, Jingliu had nothing to worry about. She was just looking to admire the soft smile and the gleam of happiness in (Y/n)'s eyes.
Starskiff watching...how she loved to roam the galaxy once more. This was a constant thought of the Foxian with purple hair that laid on the lap of her friend. Baiheng would bring (Y/n) starskiff watching every now and then to unwind, finding the latter's presence to be quite soothing.
Was this the effect of all healers ? To be this warm and nurturing ? Baiheng didn't know. But she did like the feeling of (Y/n)'s hands running through her fluffy purple hair.
Once in a while, Baiheng would even sneak (Y/n) out to bring her starskiff flying. She knew that the grumpy older brother would never let (Y/n) out to play in the sky because as he said, 'It was too dangerous for her ! What if she gets hurt?' she would mimic. And (Y/n) would laugh along, and follow her to the jetty.
All Foxians were a little daring to their short lives compared to Vidyadharas, and Baiheng was no exception !
But one time they snuck out successfully, both of them were already seated in the airship, excited for their little fly in the sky. Baiheng would show her a toothy grin, revealing her sharp canines, excited to bring (Y/n) on a wild ride. They soon landed perfectly after showcasing a number of tricks, yelling in excitement and thrill.
That was, until someone knocked on Baiheng's side of the starskiff, only to be met with the furious eyes of teal.
The two were seated on the wooden floor with Dan Feng lecturing them to no end. Despite their heads bowed in shame, they were actually trying to hide the happy smiles on their faces. No one could remove them of those gleeful smiles as they experienced the endeavors in the blue sky.
The wagging of Baiheng's fluffy purple tail and the constant slithering of (Y/n)'s own did nothing to cover up for them. Dan Feng just sighed in return, finding it futile to reason with the two girls in front of him.
End note : THIS WAS REALLY FUN TO WRITE ! i honestly dont mind if you guys want a past setting, present setting without the fights, modern day AU, or separate scenarios ! just specify them, and I'll try my best to fulfil your requests !

Top 10+ notable baihe authors currently working today
1. Jun Sola
Jun Sola (君sola)'s claim to fame rests on her tomb-raiding epic Exploring an Empty Tomb (探虚陵), which she began serialising in 2010. It is now approximately 4 million words long and still ongoing. The epic tells of the adventures of sheltered but intelligent cultivator Shi Qingyi and the mysterious Luo Shen across multiple historical periods and into modern times.
A partial (8 out of 300 chapters) fan translation of the novel (historical section) can be found here.
A partial fan translation of the audio drama adaptation for the modern section of the novel can be found here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
2. Ning Yuan
Ning Yuan (宁远), baihe's own multi-genre queen, has been writing steadily since 2008. Her titles range from historical court epic At Her Mercy (我为鱼肉), sci-fi thriller The Creator's Grace (造物的恩宠), VR-themed novel Middle-Aged Love Patch (中年恋爱补丁), and showbiz romance The Show Must Go On (逢场入戏) For 2024, she has promised a historical cyberpunk baihe novel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Ruo Hua Ci Shu
Ruo Hua Ci Shu (若花辞树), who has been writing in the genre since 2012. She is probably best known for her historical novels, of which the most popular is Minister Xie (谢相). Billed (by me) as The Goblin Emperor meets Sha Po Lang, Minister Xie tells the tale of teenage female emperor Liu Zao's indefatigable efforts to turn her (significantly older) prime minister Xie Yi into her wife while trying to get to grips with ruling an empire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
4. Jiu Nuan Chun Shen
Jiu Nuan Chun Shen (酒暖春深) shot to dizzying levels of fame on the strength of the action thriller Miss Forensics (我亲爱的法医小姐). The novel features a push-pull relationship between a forensic pathologist on a one-woman crusade of vengeance and justice with a self-destructive streak a mile wide and a police detective whose stubbornness is a match for hers. Its popularity is such that it even has some degree of mainstream awareness.
A partial (5 out of 144 chapters) fan translation of the novel can be found here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Qi Xiao Huang Shu
Qi Xiao Huang Shu (七小皇叔) had been toiling unnoticed in the word mines for a few years before earning acclaim with her Republican Era tomb-raiding novel Reading the Remnants (问棺). The novel focuses on the adventures of five tomb-raiders: Li Shiyi (a veteran of the trade), Song Shijiu (a creepy fast-growing baby found in a tomb), A-Yin (a tomb-raider turned courtesan), A-Luo (the Overseer of Hell), and Tu Layao (a small-time hustler).
A partial (8 out of 115 chapters) fan translation of the novel can be found here. A second partial (10 out of 115 chapters) fan translation of the novel can be found here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The author has since released a trio of contemporary romances — Pat Me on the Back (帮我拍拍), Evening Tide (晚潮) and Kissing a Gardenia (都什么年代了啊) — set in audio drama production and acting circles.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
6. Min Ran
Min Ran (闵然) specialises in contemporary romances, all of which have been popular enough to attract print publication and audio drama (and sometimes manhua) adaptations. Her two most notable works are the contemporary age gap romance For the Rest of Our Lives (余生为期) and the showbiz novel (with a dash of rebirth) Waiting for You (余情可待).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
7. Yu Shuang
Yu Shuang (鱼霜) writes primarily contemporary romances, and is particularly known for her showbiz novels. Notable works include the showbiz novels The Light (微光) and Those Long Divided Must Soon Be United (分久必合)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
8. Yi Zhan Ye Deng
Yi Zhan Ye Deng (一盏夜灯) is another specialist in contemporary romances. Her best known work is probably the age gap romance Feelings Speak for Themselves (桃李不言), which has been adapted into both an audio drama and a manhua.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
9. Qing Tang Shuan Xiang Cai
Qing Tang Shuan Xiang Cai (清汤涮香菜, literally: Clear Soup with Coriander) is known for her mostly-fluffy, slice of life contemporary romances. Her best known work is Fascinating (入迷).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
10. Shi Wei Yue Shang
Shi Wei Yue Shang (时微月上) she came to the attention of the wider baihe audience with her 2021 infinite flow novel Players, Please Be On Standby (玩家请就位), followed by the transmigration xianxia novel Incantation for Subduing a Dragon (降龙诀).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Honourable mention #1: Tai Yang Jun
Tai Yang Jun (太阳菌) is a favourite among fans of the wuxia subgenre, which is under-represented within baihe. She is probably best known for the two wuxia novels Jianghu Demolition Squad (江湖拆迁队) and Song of Everlasting Regret (长恨歌), as well as the xianxia novel The Dragon (见龙).
Honourable mention #2: Misterande
Your one-stop shop for dark deranged toxic lesbians, Misterande's best-known work is the dark thriller I'm More Dangerous Than You (我比你危险), featuring a cat-and-mouse game between a serial killer and a writer of suspense novels. The manhua adaptation has an official English translation, which can be read here.
Honourable mention #3: Xiao Bao
Xiao Bao (晓暴), known affectionately as 'CEO Bao' to her fans, has written upwards of 20 novels, most of them featuring high levels of explicit sexual content. Her titles include Bait (诱饵), an omegaverse novel featuring a mostly consensual poly relationship, and A Young Girl's Fancy is as Lovely as a Poem (少女情怀总是诗), featuring a daughter/mother relationship with (at least initial) noncon/dubcon.

wait.. i’m literally on here or weibo almost 24/7 ( as you can tell lol ) but I feel like i missed something. i’m seeing clowning related to xz’s photos and how it looks like he is a groom and it’s a wedding photoshoot. the place is also famous for wedding shoots ( allegedly, idk. i’m not from there ) so turtles are imagining again. lol. freakin coincidence that wyb’s GRA photoshoot was done at a wedding shop. plus the “wedding outfits” for weibo night. which is all clowning and galaxy braining.🌌
Tumblr media
now, we’re joking around, like where’s yibo? he should be taking photos with his partner.
then i see comments that there is this one song WYB recently listened to. meaning, as recent as when XZ flew to singapore which is called 超人不会飞 (superman can’t fly) by Jay Chou. i know WYB and everyone else is a big fan of Jay Chou but the clowning comes from the timing of when he listened to it. let me get to that first.
here is the song if you wanna listen to it. 🎶
youtube
turtles are interpreting it as WYB longing to “fly” to where XZ is and be with him but he can’t because of all his work commitments. he wants to take a breather. thinking about what his life is and the constraints, and at times like this, when they spent days in Beijing, but now they have to be apart, it affects him even more.
however when i read the lyrics, it could also be because he can relate to what jay chou is singing about. here’s the english translation i found here. i have bolded the ones i felt like WYB relates too. literally no need for explanation. just read it. It fits with his status in life so much that it’s almost scary.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with how cpfs are relating this to cpn cause that’s just how it is. But sometimes, there are other reasons why they do what they do.
SO MY CONFUSION COMES FROM HOW THE HELL DO PEOPLE KNOW WHAT HE RECENTLY LISTENED TO. I can’t seem to dig up how or maybe it’s something we don’t talk about. I have never experienced this kind of tidbit related to them before so I wanna know the source. Or is this like the gaming cpn where certain people know and they will not divulge the boy’s account for privacy? if anyone knows, feel free to comment. If i find out in the future, I will share.

fake title: blades of yesterday
This would be a SVSSS X Final Fantasy 7 crossover.
Centuries after SVSSS, the world has changed dramatically. Perhaps it's Shang Qinghua's fault, perhaps it's thanks to all of the side comments that Shen Yuan muttered and scribbled all over his papers, but the world modernized quickly. Machinery was built; something akin to the internet was created.
Shen Yuan and Shang Qinghua were astounded by the pace of it all. Luo Binghe and Mobei Jun were even more surprised and shocked by the wonderous inventions of all this metal (when they weren't acting like grumpy boomers asking for their husbands' help on getting technology to work that is).
Immortals as they were, Shen Yuan and Shang Qinghua still primarily lived up in the mountains of what was Cang Qiong sect. There weren't as many disciples nowadays - fewer and fewer had the spiritual roots or the desire to achieve immortality and ascend. No matter. Shen Yuan and Shang Qinghua were considered sage elders were not part of the generation of the current ruling peak lords but the many greats grand-generation.
Dynasties had rose and fallen. The country changed its name multiple times. Time ran swiftly like sand.
So it's really a pity that the two transmigrators didn't think of much when the country's new name was Wutai and its neighboring country just declared war.
---
Some other ideas for this AU:
Mako is qi that was solidified into something tangible.
Shen Qingqiu, batting away some gigantic bean stalk of a kid's 6 foot long sword: Wow these soldiers are like tiny little beginner disciples trying to wield swords. They are so cute! They even are trying to copy our long hair fashion wow! Luo Binghe, indulgently standing off to the side with a pitcher of fresh lemonade and a picnic basket of snacks while watching his husband play with an army of SOLDIERS: Shizun, this husband can get you a gaggle of SOLDIERS to keep in the Demonic Palace~
Shinra: Wtf did thes OP swordsmen pop up out of?!?! How can they be even stronger than Sephiroth???
Wutai: All of our prayers have been answered! Our gods have not abandoned us! (Yes, Resentment of Chunshan is considered the Bible/historical mythology that everyone in Wutai reads and knows by heart. Sorry Shen Qingqiu.)

Xiyuan from Qi Ye/Lord Seventh

No. He simply gives a token of his love & affection and doesn't dare tell him yet, just pines - Ends up in his 20s when he finally, actually tells him the meaning of the ring and confesses
Submission 2:
Additional Xiyuan propaganda: If we're counting Wu Xi's life as the Soulhook Envoy, then there's also the "several endless centuries" where he watched Jing Qi as he did his duties while Jing Qi never looked back at him, plus another 63 years that Jing Qi spent by that rock.
#xiyuan have over 300 years (7 lifetimes) of pining (via @/dannysbian)

Chapter 150:
"The two of them had misunderstood each other so deeply in their past life that they were separated by a huge abyss. Therefore, in their lifetime, they had used their blood to water the abyss into a sea of blood and swam towards each other. However, because of a barrier, they could not see each other's surging emotions, and could only allow their love to flood by itself."

MksDadshipping when they adopted a 5-year-old Xiaotian, who unlike the others clamoring to get picked by the other potential adoptees; he was happily busy making a drawing of monkey king, who then gets adopted.
(Bonus if Tang is the first to go to the little boy soon Pigsy then Wukong follows)
"And here's the main yard!" the guide said brightly.
The yard was full of children.
"Wow," Wukong said, looking around. He was in his human form- a handsome blonde man, his tail hidden under the yellow jacket wrapped around his wrist. "There's a...lot." His voice was filled with grief for the poor children.
Tang knew he wanted them all.
"Remember," Pigsy said. He had the same longing look Wukong had. "Just one."
"I'm not going to do anything!"
A little girl stopped and waved. Tang couldn't help but wave back. "That's Yue!" the guide, a peppy young woman said. Yue ran off before Tang could say anything but he heard Wukong make a chirp. Before the guide could glance back in confusion, Pigsy had clamped a hand over his mouth.
The tour continued on and on, finally leading into a big solar. A few children were tending to the flowers while two played chess. “I hope you’ll be able to find the right fit,” the tour guide said, clearly allowing them to interact.
Tang certainly hoped so.
-_-
Tang sat down with a sigh.
Wukong was talking to the little girls who had been tending to the flowers. Some of the smaller children were crawling over Pigsy. The sight warmed his heart. It was hard to pick one of these kids-
He nearly startled when he glanced over.
A small child, looking to be about five, sat on the other side of the table. A big red bow kept dark hair out of their face. Crayons were scattered across the side, excluding the yellow one they held and drew across the paper. In the crook of an elbow was a monkey plush.
And, now that Tang looked, a familiar monkey grinned up at him.
It was clearly a child's drawing. But it was done with careful precision as if they had been drawing Wukong for a while. “That’s a lovely picture,” Tang said. The child looked up, revealing big brown eyes that reminded him of all the baby monkeys on Flower Fruit Mountain. “Do you like Sun Wukong?” he asked.
The child beamed. “I do!” they said brightly, holding up their plush monkey. “He’s so cool and powerful!”
Tang couldn’t help a beam. “Well, I am a scholar of Sun Wukong.” The child cocked their head curiously. “That means I know all of his stories.” That got a happy gasp.
“Really?!”
“Yes!” Wukong was looking up, head cocked curiously. When Tang returned his gaze to the child, he was nudging Pigsy “Once, on his journey to bring back the tripitaka...”
-_-
"Excuse me?" The tour guide turned at his question. "May I ask about that child?" Tang nodded to the child, still drawing but now talking to Wukong, leaning against Pigsy. All three of them looked content.
"That's Qi Xiaotian!" she said brightly. Her smile was softer, more genuine. "They're a very happy child if a little lonely, I think." Tang nodded. That answered his first question. Now for the second question.
"They said something about their parents coming back for them?"
The smile dropped. "I cannot share all the details." Her voice was icy cold. "But I hope they never do, not with how that poor child was found."
The meaning was clear.
"So," Tang started. He didn't care. He knew who was his new baby, even if he hadn't talked it over with Pigsy and Wukong. "What's the next step?"
The smile returned.
"Allow me to arrange an interview."

3 things I feel you wouldn't write-
a fix it!... for Jin Guangshan (as in what he would consider to be a fix it)
nhs and jgy agreeing to let bygones be bygones (no for realsies, nobody else quite believes it either)
NHS as a bad Xuanwu owner :-(
Okay, so I chose #2 and I thought this would be simple, but 2k words later... yeah, I have thoughts!!!!! Let's see if Tumblr has a word limit lol.
If anyone would rather read it on AO3, I've put it there as well - Burying the hatchet, Yunping style
Now for the main event:
Burying the hatchet, Yunping style
The lightning flashed outside Guanyin Temple and a chill ran through the room. Jiang Cheng glared at Jin Guangyao from where he was huddled over his nephew's trembling form. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji's hands were gripped so tightly they were white at the knuckles. Lan Xichen's disbelieving eyes followed Jin Guangyao's progress as he paced back and forth in the temple, muttering to himself.
Suddenly the temple doors opened to admit another cultivator. Su Minshan entered carrying an unconscious man in his arms, their bodies outlined by another flash of lightning. “I found someone else lurking nearby,” he announced as he entered and moved to drop the man on the floor.
“Be gentle,” Jin Guangyao instructed once he'd realized the man in Su Minshan's arms was Nie Huaisang. The pale-clothed cultivator nodded and eased Nie Huaisang to the floor gently. “He's always been so delicate.”
“Why don't you just let us go?” Jiang Cheng snapped. “Or are you waiting for every other sect leader in the area to make an appearance.”
Jin Guangyao ignored him and motioned to the open door, and Su Minshan moved to close it.
“I still don't understand,” Lan Xichen said mournfully. “How could you do what you've been accused of? Why would you hurt Da-ge like that?”
“Do you think I wanted to?” Jin Guangyao turned to Lan Xichen with a mournful look of his own. “Do you think I wanted to take his life? But there was no other way-”
“There is <i>always</i> another way,” Lan Xichen insisted.
Jin Guangyao sighed and knelt next to his sworn brother. “You and I both know Da-ge was going to die anyway. His qi deviations were getting worse and worse before I ever started playing for him. I gave him a merciful death-”
“How is a fatal qi deviation merciful?”
“It is when my father was ready to hire an assassin to take him out if I didn't.” Jin Guangyao reached out to touch Lan Xichen's hand but was immediately rebuffed. “And he was. And you know my father – he didn't care about how efficient or ethical the assassins would be, he'd only want the job done. And we both know how unkind the cheaper assassins can be. This was the only way I could end his life with any ease or dignity. And without the threat of assassins or outside political influence, it meant A-Sang's cousins were less likely to conduct a coup to overtake him.”
Lan Xichen shook his head. “You still act like you care for him, when you murdered his brother? The only family he had left alive?”
“But he hasn't been alone,” Jin Guangyao insisted. “He's had <i>us</i>. It's what Da-ge would have wanted.”
The eyes in the room were so focused on the confrontation that they didn't notice Nie Huaisang slowly sitting up and turning his eyes to Jin Guangyao. A tear trailed down from the centre of his right eye and he reached up to brush it away. Finally he could stay still no longer, and he got unsteadily up onto his feet.
“Is it true?” Nie Huaisang finally muttered aloud, drawing every other pair of eyes in the room.
“Don't listen to him, Nie-xiong,” Wei Wuxian warned.
“He's just going to lie to you like he has to everyone else,” Jiang Cheng scolded.
Lan Xichen merely looked up at Nie Huaisang with pity.
“What part?” Jin Guangyao said, and it was as if in a single moment, his mask was dropped. “Ask, and I'll answer.”
“All of it?” Nie Huaisang took a step forward. “About Da-ge dying before you ever played. About Jin Guangshan-”
“Yes, all of it,” Jin Guangyao nodded.
“Then why didn't you kill him instead of Da-ge?” Nie Huaisang's voice shook almost as much as his hands.
Jin Guangyao stepped forward to meet Nie Huaisang in the middle of the temple chamber, reaching out to take the other man by the shoulders. “I couldn't, he didn't trust me enough – I couldn't get close enough to make it happen,” he explained. “The only reason I was able to take him out when I did was because Da-ge's death proved to him that I was trustworthy.”
Nie Huaisang opened his mouth to speak, but was interrupted.
“More lies,” Jiang Cheng huffed.
“Mn,” Lan Wangji agreed.
“That's a lot of dead bodies for something that isn't your fault,” Wei Wuxian commented, twirling his dizi around the fingers of his free hand.
“Stop confusing him, Guangyao,” Lan Xichen shook his head. “You know how he gets.”
Jin Guangyao shot a glare at the others. “The only one in this room who deserves to confront me over any of this is A-Sang. I promised him truth – and only him – and I will give it. It's what I owe him.” He returned his attention to the man before him. “What else do you want to know?”
“Da-ge's head – why did you keep it?”
“Part of it was because of the resentful energy around it. I had all of Wei Wuxian's papers, and it was originally my hope that I could find a way to disperse it, so that Da-ge could be at peace and be reborn. But when that failed, I... missed him, and having him close helped me keep my eyes open about the truth of what I've done to get where I am. I wanted to make certain that his and my father's deaths were the last ones I would ever be responsible for.”
“And Rusong?”
Jin Guangyao's expression took on a note of grief. “I had nothing to do with that. I know it looks convenient considering the truth about me and A-Su, but I swear I would never have hurt my son. You must know that.”
Nie Huaisang nodded. The others in the temple began to speak but Jin Guangyao motioned to Su Minshan, who used the Lan silencing spell on them.
“I'm sorry about A-Su,” Nie Huaisang said softly, his shoulders straightening back in a way they hadn't since before Nie Mingjue's death. “I never wanted to see her take her own life.”
Jin Guangyao and Nie Huaisang looked into each others' eyes, and suddenly Jin Guangyao's blew wide open. “I've... played the mantis to your oriole, haven't I.” Nie Huaisang nodded. “And here I thought you were simply traumatized from Da-ge's death. I should have known better.”
“You should have. You knew me before then, San-ge.”
“I watched you capture how many birds for your collection? And never did I suspect you would try to capture me, too.”
The temple around them was silent with none daring to move – not even Su Minshan, who was the only other cultivator with his abilities unhindered and whose voice was unimpaired.
“How could I not? You killed my brother.”
“Understandable. When did you realize?”
“I wasn't even out of my white funeral robes,” Nie Huaisang shrugged. “I was upset and Er-ge played Clarity for me to help – and it wasn't the version I heard you play, though they were almost identical.”
Jin Guangyao gave a sad smile. “You always were more perceptive than anyone gave you credit for. I used to think I was the only one who saw it.”
Nie Huaisang returned the sad smile with one of his own. “You were. It's why I wanted to destroy you so utterly – because you'd betrayed me as well as Da-ge.”
“So Mo Xuanyu?”
“You remember the crush he used to have on me. He came to me after leaving Koi Tower and told me a few things. I couldn't keep him with me, it would have raised your suspicions, but I tried to keep in touch with him if only to make certain he didn't do anything rash. And when I found out he was determined to take his life, I tried to talk him out of it – but I admit I was in a bad way myself, overwhelmed and unable to see an end to this misery, and in no place to give him hope when I had none of my own. He made the decision in the end, said it was for the both of us – the only thing I did was make certain he told me when he would do it, and strongly suggest the one he should bring back.”
“You've always been loyal to those you consider friends.”
“And both Wei-xiong and Lan Wangji deserved a second chance.”
Jin Guangyao chuckled. “Ever the romantic.” He sighed and took his hands back after one final squeeze to Nie Huaisang's shoulders. “So, where do we go from here, A-Sang? We can't go back to where we used to be.”
Nie Huaisang tilted his head. “It's not completely irreparable. The situation with A-Su is more sympathetic than anything else, and killing Jin Guangshan was a public service. If I support some of your assertions about killing Da-ge and publicly proclaim my forgiveness, then who would dare speak against us? I'm the last Nie of my line, and my word is law in Qinghe.”
“You've been hiding your sect's strength these past ten years, haven't you,” Jin Guangyao accused respectfully. Nie Huaisang smiled. “Together, our sects do outnumber all the others combined. None could stand against us no matter what we state.”
“But the simpler and easier to believe, the better. And occasionally, truth is better than overly complicated lies”
“I did, however, encourage that siege of the burial mounds.”
“Because you thought the Yiling Patriarch to be a threat – which you now know to be wrong. And wasn't the one to do the actual sabotaging Su Minshan?”
Both of them turned their heads to the man in question, whose eyes widened comically. “You can't mean-”
“A scapegoat is a scapegoat,” Jin Guangyao sighed. “It would be more believable if he's dead and unable to argue our points.”
Nie Huaisang shook his head. “Hasn't there been more than enough blood on our hands, San-ge?”
Jin Guangyao nodded. “Remove the silencing spell from them, then gather your things and leave the country – I hear Dongying is pleasant at this time of year. You can use the plans I had in place for myself.”
“You can't be serious!” Su Minshan protested.
“May I?” Nie Huaisang asked Jin Guangyao, who nodded his assent. “I would do as San-ge said, Su-zongzhu, otherwise more people will hear about that little incident with the teahouse owner's daughter in Zhangde.”
Su Minshan's shoulders dropped in defeat. “Do I have enough time to settle my sect's affairs?”
“Of course,” Jin Guangyao and Nie Huaisang replied in unison.
Su Minshan grumbled, waved to disperse the silencing spell, and stomped out of the temple, allowing the door to bang shut behind him.
“Now, as for the rest of you,” Jin Guangyao began as he looked over the remaining cultivators. “I hope we can leave this little incident behind us and continue being civil with one another.” His response was stunned silence.
“I'm certain we can all manage that,” Nie Huaisang encouraged. “And now that A-Su is no longer with us, you can remarry as you wish – preferably someone not of Jin Guangshan's lineage-”
“Of course.”
“-and even though you have my forgiveness, San-ge, it may take some a little longer. It might be best for Jin Ling to return to Yunmeng with Jiang-xiong. In fact, he would never have spoken it aloud, but I've always thought he secretly wished to keep his nephew with him and make him his heir. That would certainly go a long way toward ensuring civility between sects.”
“It makes perfect sense.” Jin Guangyao gave a sad smile to Jin Ling. “I have done things I'm not proud of, and it will take time for me to earn back my nephew's trust. But I do love him, and hope that one day we can move on from this little hiccup.”
Nie Huaisang nodded. “Well, with that settled... I'm feeling a little peckish. That bakery here in Yunping, the one with the amazing pork buns-”
Jin Guangyao grinned. “Yes, it's still open at this time of night. They like to cater to the late crowd.”
“Then shall we?”
“We shall.”
Jin Guangyao and Nie Huaisang linked arms and exited the temple.
For a moment there was nothing but silence, then Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian looked at one another.
“What the fuck just happened?!?!” they chorused, their perplexed voices echoing throughout the temple's chamber.

more conlang bs because yes!
(pt 0.2/many. many more.)
okay onto the second page of my coffee-stained notes i've written that adverbs work similar to adjectives, adverbs are derived from adjectives and are added between the verb body and everything that attaches to the verb (aux. verbs, markers, etc.) so for context every verb has the actual meaty part, and a marker (-hhi, -qi, -rri, -ci) which governs how it behaves with the grammar n whatnot, there's distinctions between -hhi -qi and -rri -ci for the sole purpose of causing chaos and confusion among my speakers (literally just me so i guess it backfired huh?) so yes to attach aux. verbs you remove the verb ending and slap on the entire verb with its ending. also tense aux. verbs go before mood (?) aux. verbs.
so for example "i run quickly" would be "mar ake min rri" (mar - i, akerri - to run, min - quick.) "i ran quickly" would be "mar ake ja min hhi" (mar – i, akerri – to run, jahhi – to do (past tense aux.), min – quick). "i made (caused) you (to) run quickly" would be "mar joe ake ja rop min hhi" (mar – i, joe – you, akerri – to run, jahhi – to do (past tense aux.), rophhi – to cause (causative aux.), min – quick)
see how i said this whole language is based on japanese? those who had to suffer through nakerebanarimasen would understand.
anyways time and place come first in the sentence, first the time then the place. i think i tried to justify it as "because they’re an adjective for the entire sentence", but i have no say on how linguistically sound that actually is.
anyways, when the sentence is a question, the verb marker / ending changes. -hhi -qi goes to -hha -qa and -rri -ci goes to -rreh -ceh.
for negation, -hhi -qi goes to -hhim -qim, -rri -ci goes to -rrin -cin.
for rhetorical questions which is a Quirk i decided to add because tone is hard, -hhi -qi goes to -hham -qam and -rri -ci goes to -rren -cen.
also there’s a sarcasm grammar (aux. verb "to lie" aka sapirri is used) because tone is hard. and theres ✨ grammar for nouns (sap is added at the end of a noun, yes it’s pure coincidence that it’s similar to the sarcasm grammar.) because this is my language and i can do whatever i want with it.
finally subjunctive "i would have" is very simple, just slap in "tuqi" (must) as an aux verb. subjunctive goes after passive / causative, because i said so. this language has no real linguistic basis, only linguine basis.
ps: constructive criticism is appreciated! even though i kinda intended this language to be a mess, i’d still like to know what i can improve for maybe future conlangs?

Last night I wrote some soft qijiu for my really long fanfic (progress is happening. I’ll get enough written to start posting eventually!). Because this scene isn’t until part 5, I figured it wouldn’t hurt to share it now.
Giving full context is way too long and complex, but here’s the basic gist. While he was still a disciple, Shang Qinghua ended up saving Shen Jiu from the Qui’s and caused a lot of ripple effects. Now years later, Shen Yuan has just arrived (in his own body) and expects the world to still be like in PIDW. He and Binghe recently went on a mission that didn’t go super well (think the skinner demon beginner mission) and Shen Qingqui had to come and bail them out. This takes place later that evening.
Anyway, here it is! A warning for some light references to past child abuse (Shen Jiu’s) and scars.
Shen Qingqui sank into the mass of soft pillows and blankets. He let out a moan as his tired muscles all but melted into his mattress. To his side, a warm lump shifted slightly to better accommodate his sprawl.
“Who said you could move? Get back over here.” Shen Qingqui rolled over to face his husband and gave him a pointed scowl.
Qi-ge only laughed and obeyed, rolling back in closer so Shen Qingqui could nuzzle up against him. Qi-ge draped a gentle arm across his shoulder, pulling him even closer and rubbing circles against his back.
“Long day?” His fingers pressed into a tight spot between Shen Qingqui’s shoulder blades and Shen Qingqui let out a deep moan. Qi-ge sighed contently at the sound and pecked a chaste kiss on the top of his head.
Shen Qingqui pressed his face against Qi-ge’s chest and breathed in his comforting warmth. “That child is going to be the death of me. How can he be so talented and smart, but also so absurdly stupid?”
Qi-ge chuckled softly. “Ah yes. I heard Binghe and Shen Yuan ran into a little trouble today and that Ming Fan and Ning Yingying served as accomplices. There were apparently four rather contrite looking disciples kneeling in reflection in one of the meditation pavilions.”
Shen Qingqui sighed. “It’s always good seeing my disciples make new friends and Binghe seems particularly taken with young A-Yuan, but there’s a difference between showing off a little and being just plain dumb. Honestly, what was that child thinking today?”
Qi-ge let out another chuckle. “It sounds to me as though he simply wasn’t. But sometimes that’s just how children are. Not me of course, I was always a model of foresight and patience, but other, less rational and level headed children might behave that way from time to time.”
Shen Jiu pulled one of his arms from his comfortable embrace to reach around and smack Qi-ge none too lightly in the back of his head. It was probably a good thing for his husband that his fan was tucked safely away out of reach, but Qi-ge only laughed at the blow. He pressed another kiss to the top of Shen Qingqui’s head.
“Hopefully Binghe will reign himself in long before he reaches the levels of impetuous stupidity I did, but either way, I know you’ll be there to help steer him in the right path.”
“So long as he doesn’t send me to an early grave first,” Shen Qingqui groused. Qi-ge only kissed him again. “Naturally. But you know perfectly well that I’d never allow that.”
The pair lapsed back into a comfortable silence, filled only with the sounds of their slow and steady breaths. Beneath his head, Qi-ge’s chest rose and fell in a soothing rhythm. It was almost enough to lull Shen Qingqui to sleep, but his mind wasn’t ready to rest quite yet.
“Did you hear that Shen Yuan jumped between me and Binghe today?”
Qi-ge stiffened slightly. “I didn’t. What brought that on?”
Shen Qingqui closed his eyes and recalled Shen Yuan’s terrified face. He had tried so hard to mask it under a veil of bravado and defiance, but Shen Qingqui had lived too much of his life surrounded by frightened eyes to recognize them as anything less. The Qui manor in all its opulent glory had no shortage of mirrors and he was intimately familiar with his own.
“He was afraid I was going to hurt Binghe. He saw me angry and approaching him and assumed the worst.”
Qi-ge let out a long sigh. “Unfortunately that’s not completely uncommon for children either. It’s always sad to see it manifest though.” His fingers continued to trace soft lines along Shen Qingqui’s back, running over the long-since scabbed over whip scars. “At least he’s now in one of the best places he could be to start healing now.”
Shen Qingqui smiled at the thought. “Cang Qiong Mountain really is very good for that. I never imagined I could even start the process, let alone end up where I am now.” He tilted his head up to press a kiss against Qi-ge’s jaw.
Qi-ge leaned down and gently caught his lips in his own. The kiss was soft and short, but Qi-ge waited for Shen Qingqui to pull him back in with more force. Their tongues brushed, sending shivers down Shen Qingqui’s spine. No matter how many years passed, the taste of his husband still left him feeling tingly and warm.
Eventually they pulled apart once more, although Qi-ge kept their foreheads pressed together. “I’m so proud and happy for you, Xiao Jui. There’s nothing more beautiful in the world than seeing you filled with joy. But I wasn’t actually talking about our sect when I said he was in a good place. Our sect as a whole is wonderful, but it has nothing on him finding you.”
Shen Qingqui’s cheeks grew warm and he buried his face against Qi-ge’s chest once more. “Moron.” He smacked Qi-ge again. “When did you become so disgustingly sentimental?”
Qi-ge gently stroked one of his burning cheeks. “Probably the moment I realized I had someone precious to me whose side I never wanted to leave.”
“Moron.” With his face still pressed against Qi-ge’s chest, he didn’t bother rolling his eyes. Besides, Qi-ge would never buy the annoyance anyway.
“I hope you’re right though. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by wonderful, kind-hearted morons who were willing to stand by me even at my worst. I just want them to have at least that.”
Qi-ge chuckled once more. “Well, as long as our friends and I are around, you should have no shortage of morons. But I’m sure your disciples can all feel your love. And I know they’re all safe now.”
Shen Qingqui closed his eyes once more and let the weight of the world drift away against his husband’s chest. “I really do have the best morons anyone could possibly hope for. Now what are you still doing up at this hour? Honestly. Go to sleep already.”
Qi-ge wrapped his arms a little tighter around Shen Qingqui and rested his head against his. “Of course, my love. Silly me.”
