i let out a laugh at frat au emet. i’ve never imagined him in any sort of modern au, so it had me giggling. if you’re willing to share your thoughts, i’d love to hear it.

I literally had nothing until that fic, and now I am plagued by yandere fratboy Emet-Selch rot. ♦ Resident of the Rich Kid frat, one of those fraternities that was built by the members forefathers. Old building, but renovated to the teeth. Other frats get dared to sneak into the basement, where they swear new pledges get brought before robed and masked figures- and this eldritch statue that must be leftover from some crypt (some witnesses swears it's called Zodiark but who knows). ♦ Emet insists on having you as his tutor, but he's so condescending knowledgeable about the topic that you wonder how he's not dominating the class. ♦ Cramming for a mid semester review, You play a game of Jeopard where loser has to take a shot. You should have known something was up since he suggested it, and now you've downed shot after shot of whiskey or bourbon you could never dream of affording. ♦ You weren't too surprised to wake up in his bed, but you were surprised to hear him say that he needed extra tutoring not too long afterwards. That he'd need to see you twice as often, booking all your openings in advance. When you tell him you need to keep some slots open for other students, he just sneers that they're beyond help and aren't worthy of your time. ♦ With your schedule and bank account suddenly so full- It takes you awhile to realize that you spent so much time at Emet's whims, that you're completely unprepared for the midterm of your toughest class. ♦ It's not until right before your exams, that he shows up unannounced at your place. Waiting until you were at your breaking point, only to show up with the Midterm answer key. Looking you in the eye with a smirk, and casually confessing that he had already passed the course. This doesn't even count as brainrot at this point as much as it is kudzu @.@

It definitely took some time for him to realize how he felt. I was friends with Katsuki first, and when I dragged him from my restaurant back to his place one night, I met his room mate: Kirishima. It wasn't too long after that, that they were both spending their patrol breaks at my Izakaya since it's so close to their agency. I don't think either of us realized how much we depended on that routine. It didn't really hit him until I had to leave for 3 weeks to help my sister open her cafe across the country, and we both miserable the entire time. But I wouldn't change it, because I got the biggest bear hug when I got back. ｡°(°◜ᯅ◝°)°｡

There's this long running joke* that we have a 'The Dragon & The Knight' dynamic- but who is who changes nearly on a weekly basis. Like, I may have a draconic quirk- but have you seen Red Riot barrel through a wall? But at the same time, I haven't met a man more enthusiastically noble as Eijirou. where branch and creek WHAT

okay hmmm how to explain this best…

So post TBT Branch and Creek are separately captured as lab experiments by… someone. Idk this part isn’t very fleshed out but anyways they’re lab rats and they get all the fun stuff that comes with that. Creek might be like,, the controlled variable? Whereas Branch gets the bulk of the testing.

Ultimately we end up with a slightly feral Branch who’s not All There and doesn’t particularly remember most of his life or his self. Finally Creek manages to break out and takes Branch with him because guess what! They’ve trauma bonded!

Long story short Branch is more.. animalistic at this point, but as feral as he is, he’s got something of a soft spot for Creek. He’s the only solid thing in his memory besides the scientists, and by comparison Creek is wonderful to him. Sure, Branch doesn’t recall the whole sold-them-out-to-the-Bergens thing, but Creek doesn’t have to mention that.

Anywho Branch ends up as a companion/pet to Creek, but don’t get it twisted, the codependency goes both ways! He might actually care about the little freak! (To clarify tho no this is obviously not an equal dynamic, Creek loves to be in control of something so dangerous)

And also Creek plays to Branch’s abandonment issues beautifully. The collar and chain only makes it so that they’ll never be separated!

(Between AU) given the premise of the au you do have a lot more room to focus on Bergen politics so Chef doing her coup would probably work really well— she tries to bring back Trollstice, Branch and Gristle shut it down, she tries to overthrow them on the “it’s the only way to be happy” platform (which would probably garner popular support). That would make Creek’s betrayal him allying himself with what he thinks will be the winning faction… maybe Bridget would be able to help the trolls and Gristle + Branch?

My main issue with this is that one thing I want to avoid is downsizing or underselling Poppy's role in things. Her belief in the good of the world and others is a critical component to the story, and not something that can be put forth by any other character. Figuring out how and where she and Branch interact in the movie is the main stumbling point, because they do need to have more than one or two interactions over the course of things. So while I do want to get more into Bergen politics, I don't want doing so to push Poppy out.

Y/n: Welcome on the Ketterdam TV, Mr. Brekker. I have been informed to remind you from time to time that not giving us an answer would result in deduction of kruge from your share. 

Kaz: I understand. 

Y/n: Now let’s start from the basics, the first question is, how many birthday party performances do you have on your resume?

Kaz: For what reason would I go to a tiny terrors’ tumultuous tribute?

Y/n: No, it says here (checking your script) that you are a magician. So I assumed that you’d work at parties. 

Kaz: I’m not a magician. 

Y/n: Very well then, next question, would you audition for the play of Now You See Me 3? I heard they need a magician. Although you would have to do something other than card tricks. A character in the 2nd play has already accomplished that. 

Kaz: Is this a joke? I'll leave that to the performers with less refined tastes.

Y/n: You have a bit of an emo vibe don’t you. You’d fit right into the band My Chemical Romance. Now, I have to ask, do you think your name would be better if it was spelled with a 'z' instead of a 'k'? You know, like "Kaz the Kool Kid" or "Zaz the Zany Zebra"?

Kaz: (looking around at the exits so soon) I’d prefer if you would stick to Mr. Brekker. 

Y/n: Party pooper. Okay, moving on. I've heard you're a great leader of the Dregs, but have you ever thought about starting a band? I hear kazoo music is making a comeback.

Kaz: I’m quite satisfied with my current employment. 

Y/n: Does your mother agree with your profession?

Y/n: Producers told me you might be in denial. Moving on, when are you going to change the last name of your adopted child? 

Kaz: I don’t have a child. 

Y/n: My saints the denial phase is worse than I had thought. Although I’ll tell you, I was talking about your son, Wylan Van Eck. Is he not your child? And answer carefully, he might cry if you deny again.

Kaz: (not saying no but not saying yes either)

Y/n: I’ll take that as a “as soon as possible”. Now, at last, the most simple question. Do you keep saying “Hello Inej” every five minutes? 

Kaz: No. I do not. That is absurd. 

Y/n: (to the producers) I think you should offer him free therapy sessions, he desperately needs them.

Have chef eat creek in front of gristle (and branch) so he can see what "true" happiness looks like or have creek try and bargain with chef for her to let him go and in return he'll "help" the others stay positive so they don't turn gray and inedible

Ignoring that first part, what I currently have for the movie is thus:

Things happen as in canon, but with no bunker, Peppy leads the Trolls away from their former village after Chef's attack. Poppy leaves for Bergentown regardless, and some Trolls leave a trail of sorts so she can find everyone once she's saved her friends (it's unspoken but pretty much every Troll is certain that Poppy will obviously manage to save her friends! She's Poppy!!!).

Poppy makes it to Bergentown, meets Cloud Guy before entering the tunnels, and it's all hunky dory as she makes her way to the castle. In said castle, Chef has arrived and is already working her manipulation muscles. And surely, with Trolls in her deck, she's got this game in the bag!

Except. Well. Branch. I still need to work out all the little intervening details, but Branch is pretty obviously going to be an opposing force to the lady that ate his grandmother. So Gristle finds himself with two different people trying to catch his ear and direct his path, and has to figure out who to listen to.

Poppy makes it into the castle, but her timing is slightly off; her Hug Timer goes off before she gets anywhere near the cage Chef is keeping the Snack Pack in, so that cage ends up being taken by Bridget without Poppy ever seeing. As a result, she takes to exploring the castle in greater depth, running into Branch in the process.

While Branch and Poppy are having their little philosophical argument, Bridget is interacting with the Trolls she's suddenly found herself in charge of. It's hard not to, when they look so much like the Prince, and one thing leads to another as she semi-intentionally recruits the Snack Pack to help her out, which ends with Lady Glittersparkles. There's no Poppy here, so whether Bridget intentionally sets out looking for a date with the King or whether she's helping the Trolls with something else and happens upon King Gristle is undecided. I'm leaning towards the latter, though.

So Poppy's poking around the castle while Bridget and Gristle are going on their first date. I still need to figure out a lot of the intervening details, but the current plan is that she and Branch reconvene with the Snack Pack at just the right time and place for Chef to spring her trap. She singles Branch out and "disposes" of him, though indirectly—throwing him down a garbage chute or similar after trapping him in a jar or the like.

The lack of the bunker works in Chef's favor, it turns out, because she's able to find the trail that the Trolls left for Poppy. She and her sous chefs return to Bergentown with full fannypacks, and Poppy blames herself for everything. If only she hadn't thrown such a loud party, if only she had been faster in getting to Bergentown, if only she had found her friends sooner, if only her people didn't leave a trail for her sake (not her fault but she blames herself for it anyway), if if if. She goes gray, and the rest of the Trolls in the pot follow.

Meanwhile, Branch manages to narrowly escape the mortal peril Chef cast him to, through a bit of help from Bridget, who happened to be in the right place at the right time. Or he escapes on his own and crosses paths with Bridget after?? I'm leaning towards the former, though. But, because of Branch and Bridget crossing paths, Bridget doesn't make it in time to be the scullery maid entrusted with bringing the pot into the banquet hall; Chef assigns one of her sous chefs to do it instead. Or another scullery maid.

So Chef undoes the latches on the pot, ready to seize her victory and truly reestablish her political power in Bergentown...

Except all the Trolls within are gray. Inedible. The people are ready to riot, Chef is trying to find some way to salvage the situation, and King Gristle assumes responsibility as King. Chef moves to capitalize on this, to shift the blame off of herself—

Enter Bridget, Branch in hand. Branch goes off on Chef for the attempted regicide, and adds in the fact that she's untrustworthy by pointing out that she used to often flaunt the rules concerning when Trolls could be eaten—his grandmother wasn't eaten on Trollstice, after all. Chef retorts by bringing attention to the fact that Branch is a Troll, trying to discredit him herself.

I still need to work out how, exactly, Poppy gets involved in the scene, but the goal is as such: Branch sings for the first time since Rosiepuff's death, and a three-way harmony of sorts between him, Gristle, and Poppy ensues. Current top contender for the song in question is "Soap" by The Oh Hellos. Color returns to the Trolls, to Branch, and then the Snack Pack reveals that Bridget was Lady Glittersparkles and the rest of the finale plays out pretty much how it did in canon.

Well, there is one difference. Poppy's speech about happiness is more focused on pointing out the pride and fulfillment that Bergens can find in the things that they love, and though it boils down to a similar "you don't need to eat a Troll to be happy" it's just a tiny bit more nuanced than how the movie presented it; happiness comes in many forms and the happiness that comes from eating a Troll may be intense, but it's empty nonetheless.

the species come into existence at the births of stars. their lifespans are tethered to their stars

some live in cities! one of them, connie (the trans flag colored one), is from a city. another, the one ive just been calling desertdweller (the one with the poncho), is a big loner and doesnt talk to people for hundreds of thousands of years at a time
