Having lost his Devil Fruit, Ace is therefore "without a Defense", Roger and Rayleigh give him a full Haki training on Rayleigh's side and sword training on Roger's side, to prepare him for the old era.

Roger and Ace's relationship will improve over time and Ace Hibiscus will learn to love Roger as a father brother, He also gets along well with Rayleigh and the rest of the crew, the only ones he will have trouble with at first will be Shanks and Buggy who will not accept him because "he takes Roger's attention" but they will quickly warm up with him, considering him as their cool big brother.
