This books was one that I wanted to read since it came out and read it as the book club read for September with my friends @unfilteredreads and @asprins_books . I really enjoyed it and finished it pretty fast, it definitely felt as if Evelyn Hugo was a real person which made the heartbreak feel so real. I did have a bit of an issue with the Latinx representation, or I may say Lack off, in this books but have noticed that it is a concurrent issue with the author, which is such a shame because the writing style is so good.
I do recommend this book, and some of my favorite quotes and moments in the book are also posted . Have you read this book? If yes, what are your thoughts!?
In honor of #hispanicheritagemonth I wanted to share my thoughts on I am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter by @erikalsanchez
I read this book a couple years ago and I loved it so much and I don’t have my copy right now because I’m letting my friend read it. Even though Im not Mexican, I resonated so much with the Hispanic/Latin culture in this book. It touched on grief, family dynamics and some mystery, all while incorporating Latin culture and how our culture can change the way we deal with those issues!
This month I read more books than I read the first 6 months of the year, but I found some of my favorite and definitely found my love for reading again..
Last week I started my last semester until I finally Graduate 👩🎓!! A lot of nights will look like this, between working, exercising, reading, and school majority of my nights will be for school. So send me the best study playlists!
I ended up up taking a break off social media. I didn’t even intended to do it, it just happened. Between seasonal depression, a new job and just a life slump, I didn’t have much to post. In all honesty I don’t even think I read much since my last post either. Which means that yeah, I’m still trying to get through A Tale Of Two Cities. Send your thoughts, prayers, good vibes, or whatever that as spring comes along I’ll be feeling better.
Not gonna lie, it’s been taking me a bit longer than I thought to read A Tale of Two Cities. Mostly because I’ve been busy abs in a weird mental slump and also because it has been a bit confusing reading the first book. If you have any tips for reading and understanding this book please let me know!! Also! If you like the bookmark I’m using! I actually sell them on Instagram! Check out my page @meekandwildlettering on Instagram!
I decided to re-read this book as I remember the great discussions it brought while I was in my sophomore year in high school, but like any high schooler I wasn’t interested in books. (Too cool for school anyone!?) but I want to actually pay attention, annotate and understand the reason this play was so big for its time.
What was that high school read that you re-read after and fell in love with?
My second book of 2021. I’ve had this one for a while on my tbr and one of my resolutions is to read my current tbr before I even step in a bookstore and buy more , we’ll see how long I can keep that up 😅
Do you take off the dust jacket off the hardcover books as well?
Currently in self isolation while I wait for my Covid test results. Praying they are negative and trying to be as productive and enjoy this time alone ans off work.
