#Brucenat is still canon and for ever

Im sorry im sorry but you ship ten and donna AND bruce and natasha, you’re now one of my favorite people glad to see you have such a tactic taste in idiot pairings
lmao cheers. It was enormously frustrating shipping brucenat back in its heyday too bc everybody hated it so much. (Even I was not happy with how it was handled in Age of Ultron. There's nothing worse than your ship becoming canon in the worst fucking way ever.)
Also, as much as I love a big chunk of the MCU, Bruce never really got to be in the spotlight enough to develop him well, or develop the relationship with Nat.
I miss 2012 MCU fandom; we were all so bright and hopeful and kink memes were still a thing.

could you do the MCU?
the first character i ever fell in love with: first mcu film i ever watched was the avengers so obviously it was tony
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: idk? maybe peggy? looking back i find her kind of annoying (and recently i learned about hayley atwell's antics which kind of sours my opinion of her further). but mostly i'm pretty sure this is a symptom of endgame
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: endgame ruined steggy for me. they were the classic tragic, one-that-got-away romance and they gave all that up?? for what
my ultimate favourite character™: tony, steve (endgame doesn't count), loki (tv series excluded), natasha, thor, scottie, peter quill, bruce, gamora, nebula, t’challa... god i will never answer with just one character will i
prettiest character: lady sif. yelena. gamora. i could go on there are many attractive ladies here (i love how i immediately eliminate any male characters for this question rip)
my most hated character: i don't really hate any of the heroes, but jane foster was incredibly annoying and i'm not looking forward to the next thor film because of how prominent a role she'll play
my OTP: stony, peter and gamora, thorval (love how the fandom and taika pretend they don't exist lmaooo). those are the big ones
my NOTP: brucenat, stevesharon, and thor/jane are strong contenders but they had the top spot stolen from them this year. it's loki and sylvie. all i can say is YIKES
favourite episode: going to limit this to the tv realm. tfatws episode 3 ("power broker") had madripoor, zemo, sharon, chaotic sambucky, and it was just so much fun. wandavision episode 8 ("previously on") was so beautifully done. i say this as someone who barely cares about wanda.
saddest death: tony, nat, and loki all had me crying for several hours
favourite movie: my favourite mcu movies are “ca: the winter soldier,” “thor: ragnarok,” the first avengers film, and “guardians of the galaxy vol. 2″
least favourite movie: loki tv series gets its own special circle of hell for how awful it is. i also hate endgame sue me
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: not going to include villains because they're mostly garbage. tbh i dislike wanda (but i think her character arc is maybe the only thing the mcu has done right in the last couple of years). i dislike carol because she's boring, and also because brie larson blew my mind in "room" and deserved so much better. i dislike shuri because she's annoying. mcu peter gets a mention but i don't even dislike him because he's honestly pretty lovable, i just find him frustrating as spiderman
my 'you're a piece of trash, but you're still a fav' fav: mainly loki, tony, and nebula
my 'you're a beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this' fav: literally all of them
my 'this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it' ship: nah don't have any mcu ships like this
my 'they're kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i'm not too invested' ship: most of the canon pairings (pepperony, scott and hope, t'challa and nakia). sambucky is pretty cute. but t'challa and ross are my favourite rarepair

To that anon tbh Sharon I don't think is uniquely unpopular by fandom standards. Maybe by MCU standards but not fandom in gen standards. Or at least its not that weird that she is.
Ship wars and just being bitter that the ship that became canon wasn't your ship and throwing salt at that ship was just always a thing. Especially if the fandom for the non canon ship thought they had a shot of being canon. See any fandom with a love triangle in the story ever.
Now its more the norm to pretend that its something deep. That the other ship is morally repugnant and you aren't just being petty af. When Sharon was the most unpopular it was still kinda the norm to just be openly petty but justifying your saltiness was becoming more the norm. Hence you'd get arguments like Sharon was a no homo and Sharon was abusive. But also just people just actively shitting on her for no reason at all apart from the fact they didnt like her not even trying to justify it.
Which again is nothing all that new. What makes it stand out imo are a few reasons.
1. Social Media being integrated- before the social media spread for fandom ships would be more diverse. There would be communities for specific ships or fiction archives and it was easy to avoid ships you didn't like. Sure if your ship was involved in a major shipping war or people were talking trash about it you could still know but the exposure to the drama wasn't always inevitable. But now if fans of more popular ships occasionally shit on your far less popular ship even if its only like 5 percent of the fans of the more popular ship that outnumbers your entire fandom. So you get drowned out for amount of content and then when anyone looks for content for the unpopular ship they mostly get negativity and its very hard to avoid.
2. MCU being such a huge fandom. Not marvel comic characters specifically the MCU and Steve being kinda a fandom bycycle. There was a good chance if you were in this fandom you had a favorite Steve ship and if you were a MCU fan primarily not a comics fan ( which let's be honest many were during hieght of Sharon drama) then that ship probably wasn't Sharon. I know in general people like to say it was primarily Stucky and Steggy fans throwing shade. But that was mostly because those were two of the biggest ships with Steve. Other Steve shippers did too. It was just that there were just less of them so it seemed like it was just Stucky or Steggy. For a while it was just a thing to shit on Sharon for not just Stucky or Steggy fans but like it was a MCU fandom thing. And the reason for this is-
3. The lack of MCU Sharon and Steve x Sharon fans. There were a few comic Sharon and SteveSharon fans. But not MCU ones because Natasha and Peggy had taken alot of comic Sharons moments and character. It was really common to see arguments like oh I love comic Sharon but fuck MCU Sharon. Why she even exist?
Pretty much all canon ships got hate. But it imo was less because they still had quite a few fans it was less cool to shit on it you got more push back. And it didnt always reflect on the characters. BruceNat was incredibly unpopular but Bruce and Natasha didnt become incredibly unpopular as a result. Sure they had haters but theyd already been established and had fans of their own ( especially Natasha). While others happened early enough and got development so the relationship got fans like PepperTony. There was hate but there was more push back for shitting on them and more people spreading love for them so the negativity wasn't drowning out the good.
But MCU Sharon and MCU SteveSharon could more easily be treated as a universal dislike by the whole fandom. Even people who didnt really care about Steve ships would joke about SteveSharon being shitty. It was just like the thing to do.
This changed when calling out mysogny in fandom became more mainstream. However those 3 reasons especially 1 and 3 remain the same except for characters too not just ships. Its hard to avoid what you dont like in a fandom on websites like Tiktok Tumblr and Twitter ( especially Tiktok) . So if negative opinions of a character are popular it becomes harder to avoid.
And MCU Sharon is still not that popular due to how MCU handling her.
I cant even say its just a ship thing anymore the vitriol continues despite her not being in any ship nor is it indicated she will be with any major character in the future. And still so many people act like they will act like they will break into hives at just the prospect of her with Bucky or Sam.
Its not just a ew girl cooties thing these same people will love the idea of Bucky with Sams sister or Yelena or someone in the Dora Milaje. Sam doesn't even have that many popular ships it basically just Bucky rn but ive seen people who dont even like this ship just see it as a friendship and have no other ships for Sam but want him to have a love interest down the line turn up their noses at SharonSam.
I will say things are definetly better than the post CW era Sharon is less the MCU fandom punching bag though she still doesnt have that much love. However more people are critiquing the handling of her character instead of being frustrated at her existence. So while I do fully believe she more than any other character could become the fandom punching bag again i dont think it will be as bad as it was in the past.
Oh, it will never be as bad as it was in 2016. There was a Sharon RP blog that one day cleared out all the hate she got in her inbox. Absolutely wretched shit was sent to her, and you could feel the exhaustion in her clearing them out. And she posted it to remind everyone that hey, liking a character doesn't equal sending fucking death threats to a person.
But the problem is the shit that the character and the fans AND THE FUCKING ACTRESS got were not only seen by Marvel, they reacted in the worst way possible. They just justified fans' actions. So while it's not the worst it has been, jesus they could have done anything but that in response.

Tony Stark: Home
Summary: Losing your husband was the worst thing that happened to you, but you weren’t ready to let him go just yet.
Warnings: Depression, Stucky canon, implied brucenat, mentions of sex, fluff, Endgame changes/spoilers.
Word count: 1717
A/N: I refuse to accept what happened in Endgame so this is just me trying to cope and create a little imagine to help with my never-ending sadness. If you don’t like what I changed about Endgame (which really isn’t even that much), then please don’t read this; what I changed is also stated in the warnings. P.S. Bruce now chooses when he becomes the Hulk rather than having combined with the Hulk.
Tumblr media
Sadness.
That was all you felt.
It was like all the air had been sucked out of your lungs when you saw your husband take his last breaths after sacrificing himself for the universe. You didn’t know if it was real at first, but when he failed to move despite your loud pleas and sobs that wrecked through your body, your heart tore into millions shreds and fell into the deepest pit of your stomach where you could no longer feel a thing. It took everything in your body to not completely crumble right then and there, but with strong arms pulling you up to your feet and into their tight embrace, you crumbled, letting out every emotion you felt through your flow of tears.
Tears of anger, grief, sadness, and every other emotion you felt tumbled down your face and soaked into the fabric of Steve Rogers suit as he held you tightly. You could hear his own sniffles, saddened with the loss of Tony, as was everyone else. The world would never be the same without Tony Stark, everyone knew that, but none of them would feel the pain of it as much you did.
No matter what anyone said or tried in an attempt to comfort you over your loss, it meant nothing. Tony’s funeral was a complete blur for you, faces mixing together and words never really registering in your mind. You heard them, but your mind was blank as was your heart without your husband by your side, whispering in your ear that everything would be alright. Everyone walked on eggshells around you, not wanting to make you even more upset or be at the wrath of your anger.
You felt terrible for not talking to anyone, but each time you tried, memories of Tony trying to speak to his final words to you popped up into your mind and made tears brew in your eyes. You didn’t know what was to come next for you, but alone at the compound where you were meant to be picking up some things, you found yourself wandering around aimlessly. It was something that you and Tony would do in your spare time and when no one else was around, sometimes using that to your advantage to have some fun in the many open spaces with the full risk of being seen or caught. However, you found yourself standing in Scott’s guest room, eyes suddenly locked on some Pym Particles that were placed on his messy dresser.
You hadn’t spoke to Scott much, but he did offer you his condolences and said if you ever needed anything to let him know. The same had been said by the Pym family, having caught you off guard with the known fact Hank Pym had never been the biggest fan of Tony, but you smiled to thank them nonetheless. You didn’t even mean to Scott’s in his room—you thought it was Bruce’s—but a small spark inside you told you it was meant to be.
Thankfully, the time machine was still around and in tact, Bruce having wanted to keep it to study it for a while. No one besides him paid much attention to it anymore, everyone else having began to move on with their lives and try to live the life Tony would’ve wanted them to. You, on the other hand, got an idea and found yourself stood in front of the time machine, that particles held in each of your hands, lips pursed and the idea swirling around in your mind.
After Steve returned the stones and came back to live his life with Bucky after he passed the mantle of Captain America to none other than Sam Wilson, they’d left the time machine alone. Bruce was taking some time to research the particles and how it reacted with the time machine, which made you believe that’s why Scott had more of it.
You knew you shouldn’t, but every fiber in your body ached to be with Tony, to see his smile, to hear his laugh, to feel his gentle touch run along your skin. His smile was your favorite thing in the world, and you craved to see it one last time.
Standing front of the machine, you sucked in a breath and turned it on. You were there when they all went off the first time, taking the infinity stones from the past and returning with them a minute later. You’d watched every move Bruce made, taking note of what he pressed and turned, happy that you’d paid so much attention to it at the time. You softly smiled to yourself, glancing to the suits that were thrown off to the side; no one planned on using them anytime soon. You quickly snatched two up and rushed up the platform, feeling the suit begin to form over Tony’s AC/DC shirt you were and jeans after you pressed the button, a little gasp leaving your lips when it was finished after you placed the other one in your pocket.
You sucked in a sharp breath, glancing down to the Pym Particles; you had four with you. One to go, and one to come back. The other two were incase you actually managed to convince Tony to come back with you, but you knew there was a chance he wouldn’t believe you, but still, you wanted them incase. You shook out your arms and legs, mentally preparing yourself for what you were about to attempt. There were many things that could go wrong, but the hope of seeing Tony again was enough to push you to do it.
“Y/N? Are you in here?” A voice called out. Your eyes widened and your head snapped to the side, shock appearing on your features when you saw Tony come into the room. The helmet of your suit slid down, revealing your face to him. He froze, your eyes flicking behind when you saw Bruce Banner.
Bruce offered you a sheepish smile. “Hey, uh, yeah, I guess I beat you to it.”
Your lips parted, looking back to Tony in utter shock. He looked so much different, but still the same somehow. He was a little younger, wearing the same shirt you had on, but yours was more worn and faded. Tears brewed in your eyes and you shakily stepped down from the platform, hand covering your mouth as Tony and Bruce approached you. Your gaze shifted back to Bruce, slightly lowering your hand and brows frurrowed. “But. .how? Why—?”
“I missed him, too,” Bruce said. “Besides, our world still needs him, but not as much as you. I’ll give you guys a few minutes.”
Your eyes softened and you sniffled, taking a small step towards Tony. You two had dated ever since he defeated Ivan Vanko and Justin Hammer, having gotten married a little after Peter Parker had managed to web himself into your lives. You’d yet to have any children of your own, always saying you would when the time was right, but things always got in the way of that all.
Your heart lurched and your hand reached out, hesitantly touching Tony’s face. You couldn’t believe how quiet he’s been, always the one to speak up first, but he hasn’t said a single thing. Your glassy eyes met his own and you sniffled when your hand touched his cheek, feeling him lean into your touch. “This is too good to be true,” you whispered, almost afraid this was somehow a trick being played on you by your own mond.
“Well, it is me. Many people feel that way when meeting me,” he said, causing you to chuckle at his cockiness. Tony sighed, taking your hand and linking your fingers together. “I’m still not entirely sure what happened, Green Giant over there wouldn’t give me all the details, but it took some time and he told me things that only I would know, and while I did have my doubts, I thought it would be nice to see the future, and of course, you.”
You let out a little laugh and playfully rolled your eyes. “Seriously? That’s why you came?”
Tony grinned innocently. “Maybe, maybe not. I didn’t really peg you to be one to ruin the past all for—”
Your face fell when his voice abruptly stopped, concern washing over your features. You opened your mouth to speak, but your eyes followed his gaze, noticing he was staring at your wedding ring that shined on your wedding finger. He slowly looked up to meet your gaze, a small smile working its way onto his lips. “You always did have the best taste,” you smirked.
Tony beamed, chuckling. “Yes, I did. But. . .what do you say we get married? I know we already were, but technically—”
“Tony, are you trying to propose to me with the ring your future self already bought?”
“Uh, maybe?”
“Oh my god! You’re such an idiot,” you laughed, pulling into you to give him a hug. You were still sniffling some, but joy was overtaking you.
“But I’m your idiot, right?”
“Of course.” You pulled away, a content sigh leaving your lips. You still couldn’t believe he was standing right in front of you. You allowed your eyes to take in every feature of him, your smile never once faltering. You finally had him back, and he had you. You grinned, biting your lip. “And, you know, we never actually got to have those kids we wanted. . .”
“Say no more—”
A throat cleared behind you, your eyes tripling in size at the sight of the woman. “I’m sorry, did I step on your moment?”
Your eyes isn’t alright shifted to Bruce. He innocently shrugged, grinning from ear to ear as Natasha Romanoff made her way into the room. “Did I forget to mention we brought Nat back, too?”
You laughed, shaking your head.
You finally had your family back.
Tony squeezed your hand, recapturing your attention. “About that family—”
You playfully rolled your eyes and moved forward without a second thought, connecting your lips in a passionate kiss. You hands pressed the sides of his head, one of his arms shaking around your waist the while the other firmly pressed against your back, pushing your chests’ together. You held him onto him tightly, promising to never let go of him and basking in the joy that Tony Stark, and Natasha Romanoff, we’re both home.

For the Do You Ship It Meme from.... idk how long ago, I found it in my saved likes, but anyway. Starker, IronDad, Stony, Stuckony, Stucky, ScienceBros, IronStrange, IronHawk, WinterIron, WinterHawk, Clintasha aaaaaand Carol/Beating Up All The Bad Guys.
Omg thank god you’ve just reblogged it so I don’t have to search for that chart 😂 holy shit, this became a full TED talk and I apologize but uhh let’s get to it:
Starker - obviously OTP and I’d die for it, it’s all about the yearning and the implications and complications but they’re so wholesome and everything each other needs and deserves okay. Let Tony Stark be happy, damn it!!!!!
IronDad - a mix of Cuteness overload and Read fics about it. To be honest I don’t read it much because a) I’ve always preferred mentor!Tony over father figure!Tony and b) as a 24/7 horny hoe I’d rather read the nsfw version of facts lolol but sometimes I’m in the mood for a cathartic h/c IronDad, why not? Not everything works for me because I’m not a big Pepperony fan plus I like May to be very much involved in Peter’s life, but I’ve found some great longfics (big shout out to The Third Option with homeless!Peter and ever in your favor, a Hunger Games AU) thanks Ash for the recs!
Stony - uhhh I ship it but Wouldn’t read a fic about it. This probably doesn’t make any sense but while I’m still somewhat emotionally connected to this ship (read: Endgame was a Stony event and I can totally see Tony being in love with Steve since Avengers 1), the thought of them together after Civil War is too bittersweet so going back there would leave me miserable. I’ve been a very passionate Stony fan in the past, it’s what pulled me into the MCU fandom and what made me join tumblr in the first place. But CW left this horrible bad taste in my mouth and kinda ruined MCU!Steve for me. I honestly thought I’d never read another ship with Tony after that, but then Starker happened and I’m pretty satisfied with it to even consider going back there.
Stuckony - Dunno. I mean.... I’m all for a hot OT3 but I don’t think I could read a canon based fic with this particular trio. Steve is so devoted to Bucky I can’t help but think Tony would be a third wheel and he deserves better.
Stucky - Kinda leaves me indifferent? I’ve never felt the urge to check it out because a) I’ve never been a huge Steve Rogers fan to begin with and b) I don’t feel very connected to MCU!Bucky. I loved TWS but the movies that developed his character the most (TFA and CACW) are not among my favorites so I rarely rewatch them. Such a shame, I know for a fact it’s a BIG fandom with lots of great content and gorgeous art.
ScienceBros - BROTP. They did Bruce dirty in IM3 (honestly, who besides Tony was well written in that movie???) but omg they’re totally friendship goals, I love how comfortable Bruce feels around Tony and how Tony shows his caring, supportive side with him in Avengers 1.
IronStrange - Why not? Okay so I might be biased because I’m a slut for enemies to lovers but I’d have loved to see more of their bantering on screen. It’s funny because they’re so similar I wouldn’t have thought it would work to put them together, but turns out their dynamics are hilarious and fascinating and if I wasn’t a 100% Starker hoe I’d totally consider reading this ship. As it is, I’m happy to see Strange begrudgingly tagging along and helping out whenever Peter or Tony fuck things up, in that exasperated, bitchy way @learned-foot explores so well.
IronHawk - Meh. I’m not familiar with the comics and I don’t think I’ll read a ship involving MCU!Clint anytime soon. I like his relationship with Nat but apart from that I couldn’t care less about his character, especially after his appearance in CW.
WinterIron - Would read a fic about it. I actually have, and was surprisingly okay with it. Lots of room for angst, catharsis and forgiveness which are totally my jam. I kinda prefer the idea of WinterIron over WinterIronSpider (my fear of seeing Tony as a third wheel is showing isn’t it) but uhhh as I’ve said before I don’t feel very connected to Bucky as a character so I don’t think I’d read many canon based fics with these two. Besides, I’m pretty satisfied with Starker and once you find your OTP...
WinterHawk - No thanks. I think I’ve read it before as a side ship in one or two Stony fics but it’s been ages and honestly I don’t care enough about either character to get invested in this ship.
Clintasha - BROTP. I guess I could have shipped them if AoU hadn’t happened but it did and between that mess of BruceNat + Clint having a secret family I kinda lost the interest in knowing whatever the hell happened in Budapest. Wouldn’t say no to finding out in the Black Widow movie tho...
Carol/Beating Up All the Bad Guys - The sexiest pair and We need more of it okay??? Now that’s what I’m talking about! I love Carol and I love Captain Marvel and I fucking love Brie so I want her to be happy in all possible ways, be it beating up all the bad guys or with Maria, or with Valkyrie and preferably with me. I just love Carol and want to see her being badass forever, pls and thank

Full offence but Natasha should not have died
So I went into endgame thinking natasha was THE SAFEST character
And until the end credits came up i was 100% certain she would reappear
So given she didn’t
Here’s an angry list of reasons natasha should NOT HAVE DIED and she should have been the safest character:
So let’s start with her entrance to the MCU - Iron Man 2. Here she is clearly given a sexist role of being the ‘sexy secretary’, and is the epitome of stereotypes. She is portrayed as simply hot - Tony ogles her and she returns comments such as a martini being ‘dirty enough’ for him, her costumes are low cut and tight, and whilst she does fight and appear at first glance to be a powerful woman, she is simply a pawn. Anything she did have here Johansson had to make for herself, she was given a script which I give her respect for sticking around after that. God knows how hard it must have been - Natalie Portman didn’t stay for long did she?
Then we move to Avengers Assemble. This can be explained in three words - ‘The Smurfette Principle’, for which this film is now quite simply the go to example. It means when there is one woman in a group of men leading a film, or show, or book etc, and is quite clearly there to tick a box. Normally sexy too, because we couldn’t handle a woman being taken seriously, could we? Again she is written here as rather 1 dimensional, and although analysis suggests she may have been one of the more popular Avengers in this film for fans, I don’t believe this. There was (and still is) an appalling lack of merch (as Ruffalo pointed out on Twitter around AOU time, and at the cinema I went to there were cups for all the Avengers accept Natasha) and in all Avengers films the focus is on the ‘power trio’ of Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor.
Now would also be a good time to point out she has been characterised differently in every single film - I feel utterly sorry for Johansson. Yes, this happened to a lot of the characters as different directors came and went (thank the LORD some of them went), but I feel Natasha has suffered an injustice here. She has gone from being haunted and controlled by her past (AOU) to being able to brush it off and move on as an independent woman. Her character changes as the times do - her first introduction would not have been accepted nowadays.
From the way she was introduced, it was always going to a long, hard, and grueling job to dig her out of that pit, and some will always view her as that character she was in Iron Man 2 - and you cannot blame them, you can only blame the sexism and a certain director.
In Age of Ultron, again, ANOTHER director comes and gives Natasha an idiotic roll and script. The Banner thing? Don’t get me started on that. Her main ‘character arc’ (if I can even call it that) was the fact she could not have children, and she felt like a monster due to that. Imagine a male superhero saying those lines and going through that - laughable, quite frankly. Never would have been a plausible main plot for one of them. In my opinion, Banner and Natasha were simply the only male and female who it would make logical sense to have together, but really it was awkward and made no sense. Watching it was cringeworthy and I honestly pretend it never happened. Some of the biggest ships are Clintasha and Buckynat, not Brucenat even though it was almost canon. That says enough in itself.
Next - the comic version of Natasha. First of all she is called Natalia Romanova (Natasha Romanoff in the films is like an alias, although Romanoff is wrong in Russian as is the male version, anyway,) and comes in around 1964 as a Soviet-Era spy. She is portrayed as the female superhero that we needed - in charge of her own destiny. To have given her a stand alone film (as all the males got at least one) with this backdrop would have been an amazing film, with many different issues that could have been explored.
Moving forwards, in CA:CW she was given a proper role (finally), and in fact was the only level headed, sensible character in the film.
She has not been a useless role before this - no, she has been instrumental in all the films. I have seen people list the ways she has saved the world and say ‘you can’t say this is sexist’, but you can, because before, even though she did these things, the way she was portrayed and therefore did them was not on par with the males.
A characters death SHOULD NOT be for shock factor, especially in a franchise such as this. On the contrary, building up a predictable death would still be more emotional.
Throughout the trailers Natasha was featured more than she ever had been before, for example being the screenshot cover on Youtube for some official trailers, whereas she was not even on the front of the Age of Ultron DVD sleeve. I thought to this - thank god, she is finally getting the respect she deserves. She is being taken seriously, maybe even there is some positive discrimination to her here as a female (let’s remember we went from a diverse Infinity War back to a group of predominantly powerful white males - shots of them all together I sometimes found painful to watch). In the first half of the film, she was featured a lot, and I still had a hopeful feeling. This was her TRUE beginning, her remaking as a serious superhero. She was the same as the males - simply a hero in pain five years after losing half the world, trying her hardest to do her bit. Then however, I realised I had been conned. Her emotional scenes and emphasis in trailers were simply to remind the audience she existed, and try and build an emotional bond before she was suddenly killed.
And when she did die? The cinema was silent (except for me and my friend), the sound of munching popcorn filled our ears as the shot of her body panned out. The scene was emotional, yes, but clearly meant for the shock factor as opposed to the emotional, end-of-an-era, symbolic death of Iron Man (who also got a funeral). Was this because really, the Black Widow was always a secondary character, so had no era to end? (Yes.)
I think Natasha never got any true respect (and when she did it was too late), and anything she did have Johansson had to build up herself, with whatever demeaning script she was given that day.
To kill her off is just adding insult to the many injuries the Black Widow has suffered (remember when she got stabbed and her only comment was about not being able to wear a bikini?). I respect Johansson for what she managed to make out of Natasha, and will miss her as we move forward once again.
She was and always will be my favourite character, but one I feel could have been so much more if only she was given the chance.
Thank you for your sacrifice Natasha, and for your hard work, Scarlett.

Five Summary Meme
Sooo, this is a confession. I was cleaning out my Tumblr drafts (which are absolutely well into the triple digits and needed a purge), and came across what I think was the start of a reply to the "Write summaries for five fics you aren't writing" meme, but there's no fucking context. 😂 No idea the original phrasing, who tagged, who I was supposed to tag in turn, and the one summary isn't a summary but notes that might have turned into a summary if I could figure out WTF they meant. And as I spent the better part of my weekend doing boring real life crap, I have decided to answer this. Using five different fandoms. Why make it easy, after all?
Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries
Tumblr media
‘Welcome,’ read the sign, ‘Everything is Fine.’ Phryne Fisher looked at it, immediately distrusting the platitude. It was a rare day indeed when things were genuinely fine, in her experience, at least until she made them so. Phryne Fisher finds herself in the afterlife, where everything is not is as it seems.
A The Good Place AU that I have outlined and absolutely wasn’t going to write, but might very well do thanks to The Summer of AU
Ms Fisher’s MODern Murder Mysteries

“Who was Inspector Robinson?” Birdie nearly choked on her whiskey. She was not expecting to have this conversation. Not tonight, and preferably not ever. The less Peregrine knew, the safer she would be. The safer everyone would be. “Who?” “Inspector Robinson,” Peregrine repeated. “I’ve been reading my aunt’s notebooks. Clever woman, by the way. Most of her notebooks mention an Inspector Robinson, at least until a year and a half or so before she disappeared. The Madam Lyon case, actually. Then there is nothing for three months, not one case, and when she comes back she only mentions James.”
In which I try to reconcile MOD and MFMM canon, and give Detective James Steed a personality. Peregrine may or may not hook up with Constable Connors.
Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame
Tumblr media
She finds Bruce in the lab, calculations running on screen and a furrow in his brow. She hops into the desk beside him, cocking her head. “Any luck?” “Not yet,” he replies. “But you know, if this works...” It could help the world immensely. It could be the end of them, of this, before it even starts. Don’t, she wants to say. Run with it. Run with me. We deserve a happy ending. “I know.”
A BruceNat fic set between Infinity War and Endgame. Bruce is trying to find balance with the Hulk, Natasha is trying to keep the family she still has together. Bit of fluff, bit of angst, and putting Nat’s story front and centre. Because she deserved a better story than Endgame.
Agent Carter
Tumblr media
Daniel Sousa is just about reconciled to the exceptional men and women that Peggy knows, but he sure as hell wasn’t expecting Phryne Fisher.
A Miss Fisher/Agent Carter crossover where Peggy and Phryne are amazing, and Daniel and Jack discuss the joys and tribulations of loving modern women.
Game of Thrones
Tumblr media
"I believe, Ser Jaime, that we must be as we have always been to one another.” In which being the hero might might win you a politically expedient marriage, but the rest is on you. Alternatively, Ser Brienne of Tarth is the heroine in her own damn story, not a prize to be awarded in someone else’s.
A post-canon Game of Thrones fic that I’m not writing because I don’t know nearly enough about canon to actually write it, but I am already Nick-Furying the end of the show before it airs.

BUT I GOT MY FINGERS LACED TOGETHER AND I MADE A LITTLE PRISON
├ NATALIE DORMER. FEMALE. SHE/HER. ┤                                           you’re riding solo, NATALIA ROMANOVA.                                            their file names them a THIRTY year old                                           HUMAN from MARVEL. according to their                                                old friend, NATASHA has ALL of their                                            memories. but what they do know, is their                                          quintessence is captured within the lyrics of                                               YELLOW FLICKER BEAT by LORDE.
AND I’M LOCKING UP EVERYONE WHO EVER LAID A FINGER ON ME
известная чёрная вдова...
i’ll be pulling from both comic and movie canon for natasha’s back story, making alterations here and there so that she makes overall sense !
while i love playing the classic story out where she’s like, 80 years old, to help the mcu part of her canon stay consistent i will not be doing that haha
she was, however, brainwashed and then trained in the red room, disguised as one of 28 ballerinas for the bolshoi theatre in moscow
during this time, she trained with james buchanan barnes / the winter soldier
she was on a mission to kill clint barton, who was on a mission to kill her, when they sort of “bonded” because he managed to break through her brainwashing – and he took her back to shield
this is how her title as “black widow” became more of a positive !
but she still feels the need to make up for all the harm she’s done in her  past, even if she has the excuse of brainwashing because .... she still did it
red in her ledger and all that !
cue the mcu ....... minus her role in age of disappointment, which was both ooc and sexist af so will be ignored hahaha
brucenat obviously doesn’t exist
she’s being pulled from where infinity war left off
she speaks like 100 languages, but i wanted to make a note that sometimes i will have her speak russian because i also speak russian – so i’ll use hover translations for them !
natasha is the best spy in the world <3

❛ ❛  The truth is a matter of circumstance. It’s not all things to all people all the time. And neither am I.
i’m a princess cut from marble, smoother than a storm and the scars that mark my body, they’re silver and gold my blood is a flood of rubies, precious stones
IT LOOKS LIKE NATASHA ROMANOFF FROM MARVEL HAS ARRIVED IN BLACKPOOL. SHE LOOKS LIKE SCARLETT JOHANSSON, AND IS THIRTY-THREE YEARS OLD. I’VE HEARD RUMORS FROM AROUND TOWN THAT SHE CAN BE SECRETIVE, BUT I’VE ALSO HEARD THEY CAN BE TRUSTWORTHY. I HOPE THEY HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO SURVIVE.
Tumblr media
natasha is picking up where she left off - after infinity war
first thing’s first: BRUCENAT IS NOT CANON AND NEVER HAS BEEN.
natasha was taken to the red room when she was seven, shortly after they murdered her parents and framed their deaths as the result of a house fire.
she trained in the red room with the winter soldier, and when she was around him, it was the only time she ever felt like herself. I AM ABSOLUTELY OPEN TO A BUCKYNAT HISTORY, ROMANTIC OR PLATONIC, but i would definitely like them to have some kind of significant past together in the red room, as it’s a major player in natasha’s character and past.
clint recruited her when her mind was becoming vulnerable from the brainwashing and gave her a home.
after civil war, she went about finding her new identities - but she spent a significant amount of time running missions with cap and his crew of vigilantes rescued from the raft.
she has so much survivor’s guilt after infinity war. SO MANY PEOPLE DIED, and she thinks there are so many that were better than her. she would have given her own life for any number of them.
her trust is VERY hard won
she trusts bruce as far as she can throw him. she is still shaken up by her near-death experience with hulk on the quinjet.
steve and clint are her closest friends.
she absolutely has a mothering personality – she’s become a sort of pseudo-mother to peter parker (and by extension harry osborn). peter is fighting at such a young age and it reminds her very much of herself, which is why sh’es so protective over him.
she’s protective over wanda for the same reasons.
she will do what it takes to survive and to protect everyone from the dangers of hte new world - exactly how she couldn’t against thanos.
** I speak Russian. Natasha will speak Russian. I’ll include non-google-translate translations. If I EVER forget to include one please let me know (google cannot be trusted).

For the salty ask: 2, 6, 7, 17 (i supose this is about like something you would change?? anyway) and not in the list but your opnions on Pepper?
2.  Are there any popular fandom OTPs you only BroTP?*
Obvious immediate answer: Stucky. I don’t dislike it as a ship, I get why people ship it and I have read some good fics with them, but personally, it just doesn’t do it for me.
Also, for mass effect, definitely shakarian. I’ve never even played Garrus’ romance, even though I know it’s probably really good, because I just can’t create a Shepard that sees him as more than a friend. It just feels awkward.
6.  Has fandom ever made you enjoy a pairing you previously hated?*
...I don’t think so. I feel like the opposite - a fandom souring me on a pairing I previously liked/had no strong feelings about - is definitely more likely.
7.   Is there anything you used to like but can’t stand now?*
Hmm, it’s more of a fandom behavior than a trend, but in my early days in fandom I used to be really into anti-shipping. Like, writing extensive meta against a ship, getting into heated arguments about it, etc. Nowadays I think it’s a total waste of time.
17. Instead of XYZ happening, I would have made ABC happen…
As far as “smaller” changes go, instead of BruceNat, I would have made Clintasha happen (also, Steve would get to say the “you move” speech in Civil War). In a really really alternate universe where I could change LOTS OF THINGS about the MCU, I would make Stony happen, obviously.
opinions on Pepper:
I don’t... really have any strong feelings about her? As a character I feel like she works, I’m able to enjoy her when she’s onscreen, and in the context of canon I’m cool with her romance with Tony. I don’t really care about her in any sense other than that, like, I wouldn’t go looking for fanon contend about her, for example, and I’m not that excited to see her in Infinity War or any other future movies - again, I don’t mind seeing her, but she’s not a character that I feel is developed on her own, outside of being Tony’s love interest, so I’d much rather watch other characters I care about. Also, she and RDJ have great chemistry, but tbh I’m not really a Gwyneth Paltrow fan (still bitter about THAT oscar, yeah).

the first character i ever fell in love with: STEVIE
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: i definitely don’t dislike him (see my first answer lol) but the steve fandom started driving me nuts with all the anti-tony nonsense after civil war so i was lowkey annoyed by anything Team Cap for a bit but my love has been renewed after infinity war n i adore him
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: none that i can think of??? i’m here for all the ships except brucenat and stevesharon
my ultimate favorite character™: how about top 5 lol??? steve, tony, spidey, sam, gamora (ugh and shuri and bucky i’m so bad at this)
prettiest character: gamora and nakia my loooooooves

my NOTP: BRUCENAT but isn’t that everyone’s lol
favorite episode: CATWS is still so iconic but i also love black panther and iron man lots and lots
saddest death: [SPOILER ALERT!!!!!] gamora fricken killed me man…it fricked me up so much :((( also yondu and groot and when we thought bucky died falling off the train
favorite season: how about phase lol…..ummm are we in phase three right now?? bc i think it’s my favorite
least favorite season: least fav movie is age of ultron and even that one was watchable if you could ignore the brucenat nonsense
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: okay i know he’s not in the mcu but i’m not huge on deadpool…like he’s Fine as a character and i don’t hate him but the non-stop crass running commentary is too much for me especially in ryan reynold’s voice sry lol
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: honestly i do really like loki….like definitely not here for Nastiness Apologism but [SPOILER ALERT!!!!] i was really happy that he finally did the right thing

my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: hey i mean t’challa/killmonger would be Something wouldn’t it lol
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: the science bros are Great and i love seeing them together but it’s not a Thing really…just a passing “awwww” ya feel me

Thor Ragnarok Thoughts & Opinions
Heavy spoilers under the cut! You’ve been warned.
The bad
I liked the movie overall, so I thought I’d start out with the few things that bugged me...
- Hela being Thor and Loki’s sister. Now, I don’t really mind this idea in and off itself, and I get why they didn’t want to make her Loki’s daughter like she is in mythology, but making her their long-lost sister did raise a few questions for me: First of all, does that mean we’re never going to see Angela in the MCU? Because honestly, I’d sell my soul for a movie about Angela and Sera. I mean, come on, Thor and Loki’s older sister they never knew, who’s a badass lesbian and literally goes to Hel to save her equally badass trans girlfriend... If Hela was supposed to replace that storyline, I’d be dissapointed. The second thing that bugged me about Hela being Odin’s daughter is that she doesn’t look like him at all? Her whole aesthetic with the black hair, green clothing and horns was very Loki-esque and I didn’t quite see the point of that if she’s not supposed to be (biologically) related to Loki? Did Loki just happen to randomly have very similar looks and a very similar fashion sense as the long-lost adopted sister he never knew? Also, I always had the headcanon that Loki’s looks (black hair while the rest of the family is blonde etc.) contributed to him being an outsider in Asgard, so I’m not quite sure how I feel about one of Odin’s biological kids literally looking the same. Also, this made me wonder if we’re ever going to see Lady Loki in the MCU. Because that’s another thing I really wanna see.
- The scene where Thor electroshocks Loki and then leaves him behind while he’s in pain. Enough said.
- That BruceNat bullshit again. This was why I didn’t want Bruce in this movie. I get that the writers couldn’t just ignore stuff that happened in Age of Ultron, but god, why did they have to remind me of that abomination of a movie?
- Am I seriously supposed to believe that Doctor Strange, a mortal, is more powerful that Loki, an actual god? Nope. I don’t buy it.
- Where was Sif? (Also, holy shit, did they really kill off the Warriors Three just like that?)
- So how did Loki survive in TDW?
The good
Now, on to the stuff I liked!
- Loki writing theatre plays about himself and having them performed in front of all of Asgard. This was something I didn’t know I needed until I saw it. Honestly, that was easily my favourite scene in the movie, hands down. It was definitely a funny scene, but it was so full of little things that made it meaningful. First of all, I’d like to note the fact that the play was only a little bit more dramatic than what actually happend. Loki didn’t even change that much about how he ‘died’. Also, I love that Loki finally gets to tell his own version of his story to the people of Asgard. Not Odin’s or Thor’s version, but his own. And people are finally listening to him and appreciating him. I get that the scene was meant to be funny, but I mean this in a completely serious way. Also, can we talk about Loki including his Jotun heritage in the play and therfore making it public to all of Asgard? And how the Asgardians are just fine with it? They don’t think it makes him a monster or anything less than their prince? And that must be so healing for Loki to see as well? He’s staring to accept himself and that’s so beautiful???
- Also, I found it really touching how despite everything Odin’s done to him, Loki clearly still loves him. First of all, he didn’t kill him at the end of TDW, and only banished him to a retirement home on Midgard instead? I’d say that’s surprisingly merciful. And then, even in his play he doesn’t make Odin the bad guy, and instead shows him as this loving father who’s “heart melted” when he met Loki? (Granted, that might have something to do with the fact that he’s currently impersonating Odin, so portraying him as a villain or tyrant might have backfired, but still.)
- Odin’s death scene actually made me so emotional?? I really didn’t expect that. Odin’s my most hated character in these movies and I thought I’d just be happy when he died, but they managed to make his death so sad and sweet?? He told Thor and Loki he loved them?? And Loki made that face and you could tell how much it meant for him to hear that, despite everything Odin’s done to him?? And then he praises Loki’s magic and says “Frigga would have been proud”?? And Loki looks like he’s about to cry?? And... that scene was just so full of feels I’m????
- The grandmaster hitting on Loki. That clip we know from the promos where the grandmaster is obviously giving Loki bedroom eyes is one thing. But then also later Loki says something like “I won the grandmaster’s favour” (not sure what exactly he says in English since I had to watch the German dub). And then there’s that scene where Loki wants to leave when he sees the Hulk and the grandmaster suddenly stops him by getting into his personal space and saying “Where do you think you’re going?” with that seductive smirk... Yeah, they probably had sex at some point.
- Which brings me to the next point: I love how this was the first Thor movie that at least hinted at Loki’s queerness. It still wasn’t explicit, unfortunately, but at the very least it’s clear that Loki understood the grandmaster was hitting on him. (@MCU writers: Make him bi in canon, you cowards!)
- Everything about Valkyrie. Awesome badass character, super intersting & likable, awesomely played. Having more women of colour in mainstream movies is always great, and Tessa Thompson saying she wanted to be faithful to Valkyrie’s bisexuality from the comics gets a big thumbs up from me. (Again, sad that it wasn’t explicit, but I’ll take what I can get.) Also, that woman who died in front of her in the flashback? Was her girlfriend. I’ll fight you on his.
- Thor saying he wanted to be a Valkyrie as a kid before finding out they were all women. Precious <3
- Seeing Thor and Loki’s brotherly relationship and hearing more about their childhood. Also, Thor saying he’s always loved snakes.
- Loki calling Bruce by his first name, while even Thor calls him “Banner”. I’m not gonna lie, I used to really ship Loki and Bruce back when the first Avengers was released, so that was just a nice little detail I liked.
- Heimdall being a badass. (That moment where he greets Loki with “I saw you coming. Welcome home”??? MY HEART)
- The whole lovestory-plot and earth-plot from the previous Thor movies just not being a thing. HALLELUJAH. (Also: “Sorry Jane dumped you!” :D)
- The fact that there was no love story in this at all. Hell yes. Thor and Loki got to focus on their brotherly relationship instead and Valkyrie got to be a badass female character without needing to be shoehorned into some romantic subplot. Good shit.
- Loki actually coming to save the people of Asgard?!?!?! He could have just abandonend them, but he came back and helped make sure everyone was safe?? I honestly wouldn’t call him a villain anymore at this point.
- Loki’s proud smirk when Thor discovers his powers. He’s like “That’s my bro!”
- “If you were really here, I might even hug you.” “I’m here.”
- Loki standing by Thor’s side in the end? They’ve come so far <3
And there’s probably more  but that’s all I can think of rn

👀 💤💦💢
👀  Ship you’re curious about:
PearlRose. I mean it’s been so so long, and we still have no idea what their canon relationship was. RS says that Pearl’s love wasn’t exaclty unrequired so waht happened? Were they dating but Rose couldn’t take it anymore? Maybe Rose fell for way too many humans? Will we ever know????
💤 Ship that is canon but you don’t ship:
I generally am just neutral to canon ships pfft, I prefer the less popular ones. Maybe that’s why I can’t think of a good example rn omg. Maybe BruceNat?? We can all say that it’s A Mistake.
💦Ship that is taboo:
Fscking Billford bullshit, man
💢Ship that is most misunderstood:
TOMCO!! I’ve seen this ship being so grossly misinterpreted, like guys, it’s time to stop D:
