Year 2007…
Smallville, Kansas
On the Parker Farm.
Prologue
   The sky was dark and cloudy, not one spot of blue sky could be seen. It was in the middle of the day as Hope Parker had packed up everything for her move to New York. It had not been a month since the funeral and Hope was already moving out of her once beloved childhood home. With a simple look, she thinks back to all the loving memories that she made with this house. Birthdays, Holidays, sleepovers, playdates, and everything in between. Many of them included one person was Hope's best friend, who was now standing right by her with his arm wrapped around her shoulders.
“You’ll be okay.” He said as he shook her gently making her look up at him. He had a beautiful, yet sad smile on his face. Hope took another look at the house and sighed as she laid her light-blue eyes on it for the last time. Never had she thought this day would come where she would say goodbye to not only her home, but also to the boy that she had been friends with since earlier childhood. Clark Kent. All her life, he had been the one constant thing. He was always there for her. Through both her darkest and brightest moments of her life. The boy standing next to her, had made everything all that much brighter. He made it shine like the full moon over the fields of barley that surrounded the farmland of Smallville. Now, she had to say goodbye.
   She saw her aunt, her mom’s sister, Hilarie, signing the last of the few papers with Lionel Luthor and Lex standing beside him. Hope gave the young, bald man a glare. Sure, he didn’t orchestrated all this, but he didn’t try to do anything to stop it. They were friends once. For the past few years, her and Lex had a distant friendship where she didn’t feel trusting of him. Now, he was just standing by and letting her mom’s sister sell her family farm.
“You know you can always stay here, Hope. At our home until you graduate.” John, Clark’s father, and owner of Kent farms offered her. She turned to him and looked up at John.
“Thank you, Mr. Kent, but I think I need to go back to New York. You are already have enough on your plate as it is.” Hope declined his proposal, even though she would want nothing more than to stay. She knew that the Kents were struggling and her staying with them would be harder on them.  They didn’t need another mouth to feed. “Besides, I will at least have my uncle, aunt and my cousin.” She gave a small smile with shining eyes. John did nothing but nod, as he gave the girl a hug.
“We’ll look after her, John.” Said her uncle Ben as he and his wife, May, placed a hand on Hope’s shoulders. “Don’t worry about her too much. Peter is really looking forward to seeing Hope. She won’t be alone.” Ben finished and lets Hope’s shoulder go. Her aunt and uncle, Ben and May, came all the way to pick her up a month after the funeral. They came over a month to arrange for her to come to New York shortly after the funeral. Peter, her cousin, was around her age and was back in New York staying with a friend while they retrieved Hope and her dog. Peter talked on the phone with her almost every night, telling her that she will like New York. Even reminiscing about the fun they had together before she moved out to Smallville.
“We will miss you, Hope. You will always have a home here.” Martha, Clark’s mother, encouraged as she hugged the young brunette. Hope wrapped her arms around the older woman. Martha released from her embrace and handed her a small bag of double chocolate chip cookies. “Here, take these with you. I made extra in case Peter might want some.” Hope smiled in delight at Martha’s kind gesture. She then handed the cookies to her aunt and took them back to the car to take to New York.
“Thank you, Mrs. Kent.” She thanked the woman as she turned to a couple more people. All of them were kids around her age. Friends from childhood. Chloe, Pete, Lana and Whitney. They all came to her to say goodbye to her. Hope gave each of them a strong hug, telling each of them farewell.
“I will miss you all and I will never forget you.” Hope tearfully told each of them.
“I hope you have a great time in New York, Hope. Give us a call when you can and write as much as possible.” Chloe request as her eyes teared up.
“I will, thank you, Chloe.” Hope hugged the golden blonde and let her go as she went to Pete.
“See you later, Hope. I hope that New York treats you well.” The young, African American boy hugged her as well. “If not, let us know so we can teach those city-slicking snobs on how to treat our angel.” He joked as he let Hope go, earning a grin from the blonde beauty.
“Thanks, Pete. I will let you know if I come across any trouble.” She looked away from Pete and turned to Lana. She smiled at the beautiful brunette and hugged her just as tightly as the rest. “Take care, Lana. Make sure you keep these guys out of trouble.” She mumbled in the other girl’s hair in her tight embrace.
“I will. Good luck in in New York, Hope.”  Lana whipped a tear away from her face as she observed Hope’s icy, blue eyes with her brown ones. She looked over by a tall blonde with a sad smile and hugged him with her arms wrapped around his shoulders.
“See you around, Whitney. I hope you make it the NFL. You’ve earned it.” The girl hugging him and released her from his hold.
“Thanks, and also, this may seem a little strange to say, but thanks for putting me in my place when it was needed.” He chuckled awkwardly as he looked down at Hope. “Let me know when you become a CEO. We’ll hang out on one of our yachts one day.” He joked as Hope shook her head.
“Yeah, maybe.” She chuckled as he turned away from Whitney and then casted her eyes back on the tall, dark-haired boy.
 Clark Kent, her next oldest and closet friend. She stepped closer with dog in hand and hugged him tighter than anyone else she did in her life. Hope could hear Beowulf whine in sadness as he looked up at the pair, his brown eyes big and shinning up at them in grief. He and Clark let each other go as the young man knelt to the German Sheppard.
“Bea, you need to look out for her. You hear me? Take good care of our girl because she is going to need you. Can you do that?” He asked the noble canine who gives him a gentle nod. Clark pets his head right before Beowulf gave him a lick on the face before he got up to his feet and looked at Hope. “Go, they are waiting for you.” He said as Hope slowly walked away from Clark and to her aunt and uncle’s car. She gave one final glare at Lionel Luthor before getting in the back seat with her dog. “Hope! Wait!” She turned around and as she heard Clark call for her. Beowulf did the same thing as well as Clark then began to run at her. Her heart rate picked up when Clark swooped her up with great ease and held her one again in a near bone crushing embrace. She ignored all the gasps she had gotten from the people around her. Her shock from Clark’s unanticipated gesture and wrapped her arms around his broad shoulders. She then could feel Clark sinking them down with her knees hit the ground.
Hope knew she was being hysterical, but she couldn’t control it anymore. Saying goodbye to the most important person in her life and not knowing if she was ever going to see him again. To try and calm her down, he slowly wrapped his strong arms around her. He held Hope so tightly, like she was his life support.
    A second into the firm embrace, she could feel small drops of water onto her scalp. She knew that there was no rain. Hope checked the weather twice and there had been very little chance for rain. No. That water was coming from the boy that was holding her like his life depend on it. His chest began to heave violently, his breathing was intense as he continued to hold her in his arms. Then came the cries. It was the most painful sound that she had ever heard. It felt both his heart and soul were breaking. His sobs were louder as he held on tighter. Hope didn’t let him go either. Beowulf was feeling the hurt and heartbreak as he watched his human suffer. He wedged his way between the two and emersed himself in their embrace. The pair let him take part in what felt like was their last time together. Beowulf loved Clark and it was making his heart crack under the weight of the situation. The three stayed like that for a few more minutes until they broke away from the bone crushing hug. He helped the two of them from the ground, gently pulling her to him. Hope sniffed and huffed while he started to wipe away her tears from.
“Shh…Don’t cry, Sunflower….please…don’t cry….” He was still crying as he was trying to get her to stop. Hope would joke about him being a hypocrite but refused to scold him. Looking deep into his ocean blue eyes, she saw there was more to what he wanted to say. His mouth was open, and he was about to speak. Hope can tell there was something he wanted to say. “Listen to me, Hope.” He got her to focus on him. “No matter what happens. No matter where we are in the world, you must promise me something,” His already cracking voice was growing serious by the second throughout his monologue. “You need to be strong. No matter what happens or whatever Hell you go through, you need to remain strong. Can you do that for me?” He pleaded her with the tears coming down his face. she wondered on how she was going to answer. How was she going to remain “strong” without her best friend for thirteen years? As a child, she was always told that good things don’t last. She didn’t know how she would ever be able to live without him. However, he was right. What was happening now would not change. Fate had her mind made  up. Having to give her Hercules an answer, Hope reluctantly nodding her head. She hugged him one more time and wrapped his arms around her.
“I promise …I will be strong.” She spoke after what felt like forever.
“And I will make you this promise that we will see each other again. I swear it.” He promised and Hope wanted to believe that he can fulfill that promise. Her aunt and uncle, Ben and May Parker, watched the two of them. Knowing how much this was hurting their niece. The two let go as Hope grabbed her bag and began to make her way to the mustang where her family waited for her.
“Don’t forget to write to me. As often as you can. Feel free to call me, okay?” He beseeched the girl with his dark blue eyes as he grabbed her arm gently.
“Of course, I will. Goodbye, Clark. I love you.” (Name) choked out with a weak smile. The young man, Clark, was about to say more when thunder could be heard above them. They looked up and soon rain drops fell onto the dry, cold earth. The thunder grew louder, and the rain poured down harder. It was almost as if the heavens were weeping at their departure. (Name) looked to her Hercules one more time before he let go.
    The rain pelted down as Clark stood in the driveway of Hope’s childhood home and the rest of her friends began to run to get away from the rain to the Kent’s car. She looked back at the now empty farmhouse that hold so many memories. Then she looked to the barn where many of the animals walked out, looking right at Hope. horses, cows, goats, ducks and pigs, all watch her leave, wanting so badly for her to stay. She waved goodbye to them, all of them have saddened expressions on their faces watching the car start to drive away.
     Hope looked back one more time at Clark and could have sworn that he was trying to run to her. Watching him closely, Hope realized that’s what he was doing. He was running after her car as if he was going to stop it right in its tracks. Sprinting even. He kept on going until he finally stopped, not caring that he was getting drenched in the rain. Hope cried as she saw him began to fade away. She didn’t stop looking back, not for a moment until she could no longer see him from behind. Clark was no longer in sight and a new reality was facing ahead of her, and a new life.
    Hope watched as they passed by the Kent Farm, Clark’s home. She stared at the large white house that stood next to a large, lush corn field. Hope can see the sizable, red barn where she and Clark would watch the stars through his telescope in his what his father would call his “Fortress of Solitude”. She loved how supportive his parents were of hers and Clark’s friendship. He didn’t have a lot of friends growing up and neither did she. The two fit like missing soul mates. Hope would go to his games, and he would go to her science fairs. He would go to Hope’s music recitals, and She would help him with work on the farm. He defended Hope from bullies and she would do the same, despite him being a year older than her. His friendship was the foundation of her sanity. What was she going to do now?
“Psst!” Hope heard the small voice behind her and turned around to see her German shepherd, Beowulf, was looking at her. “You okay, pup?” He asked Hope, showing her genuine worry.
  Yes, for as long as Hope could remember, she had the ability to talk to animals. She wasn’t great with people aside from her family and friends, but with animals? Connecting with them was second nature. Hope didn’t know where she got these powers and honestly, she stopped caring a long time ago. The girl assumed that she was a mutant like in the news and managed to keep it all a secret for years.
   Clark was the only person, other than her parents that knew about her gift. She was nine and was having a normal conversation with Henry, Lana’s horse, and Clark came walking in as he saw her. To Hope’s surprise, he wasn’t angry, not even in the slightest. He respected Hope wanting to keep her power a secret. Knowing that the few that know about, the better. She was grateful for Clark’s grace and patience.
  “I’ll be okay, boy.” She smiled bitterly as she scratched the dog’s head and he groaned. Hope loved this dog, and so did Clark. He had been her uncle's dog while in the marines. The one good thing about this move was that Beowulf was going with Hope, even though she would be with family. If Hope was going to move halfway across the country, she wasn’t going without him.
   With the Kent farm now out of sight, like Clark, Hope’s face sunk with a forlorn expression. Things will be different, that’s for sure. It was going to be hard and painful. Heaven knows it already was. It felt even more real when she saw the “Now Leaving Kansas” sign. The rain doesn’t subside as Hope took a deep breath. They drove off into the open road in silence going further to the east coast. Leaving Smallville and the boy that made it worthwhile behind. Hope gripped onto the golden necklace that Clark had presented on her thirteenth birthday. It was a simple pendent with a picture of a sunflower carved into it. It was the first thing he was bought with the money from his first job. Hope had worn it ever since She had gotten it.
  Clark Joseph Kent will be a name She will never forget. For as long as she lived, her heart will belong to him. It doesn’t matter who comes her way. No boy or man, whether they be friend or lover, will ever compare to the bond that was twelve years in the making. Hope closed her eyes, hoping to get some sleep. Maybe she can kill a few hours with some shut eye. her thoughts go back to the farm and a boy with dark hair and blue eyes. Wishing this was nothing but a dream. Her leaving was nothing but a nightmare. But no, this wasn’t a nightmare. It was real and there was nothing she could do to stop it.

Star Wars (1977) #03: Death Star!
Roy Thomas, Jun 07 1977
Tumblr media
Yay, they fixed the logo!
Tumblr media
Honestly this whole page is fantastic. I love the composition, the wacky fonts, Mr. Leialoha getting credited as Leia, Alderaan's appearance? Beautiful.
Tumblr media
Motti's two lines weren't important enough to include him in the issue so we get Vader being an errand boy, which I love. Also Leia's space racist line equating humanity with morality in a world with an untold number of sentient species is retained from the script.
Ben's reaction to the destruction of Alderaan is next. At this point a disturbance in the Force was still called an "ebbing" - much less dramatic in my opinion. Luke gets the job of reminding the readers what is happening by calling Obi-Wan by his full name out of nowhere and needing a refresher of what "the Force" is.
Tumblr media
Feeling unappreciated, Han watches Chewie play against Artoo and gets a lot more invested in the droids' health than his movie version:
Tumblr media
Also what do you mean, a "wookiee like Chewbacca"?
Luke is training with the "remote" (heh) that look much more virus-y than the cute laser-shooting ball we all know and love.
Tumblr media
It isn't going well. Ben also takes some of the recapping duties reminding us about Luke's dad having been a Jedi.
Tumblr media
Apparently the artists decided to portray the remote bouncing off the lightsaber instead of Luke deflecting a bolt. Looks funny but why not.
Tumblr media
The line "Stretch out with your feelings, in the dark" is from the fourth draft of the script.
Eventually our heroes arrive to find Alderaan is gone!
Tumblr media
Luke calling Han by his last name these early comics is funny to me, sorry. I can't think of any other instance of it happening.
Same with Obi-Wan's "Mr. Solo". That's so rude sir, you know he's a captain. Also Han stole Wedge's line from the movie's climax:
Tumblr media
(And yes, "sucking Han Solo up like space dust" is a Lucas line.)
Meanwhile, there's drama on the Death Star. Oh, and Vader is there I guess.
Tumblr media
Tarkin screaming and Vader's pose are hilarious.
The trooper whose armor Luke wears is still referred to as TX-421 like in the script and novelization. The guy who goes to check on their coms gets wonderfully bitchslapped by a very jacked Chewbacca.
Tumblr media
Also Obi-Wan apparently will call Threepio by his (nick)name but Artoo is "the R2 unit". What do you think he is, a charger? At least address him directly :(
Tumblr media
I really love this page:
Tumblr media
In the movie Luke and Han are the only ones in stormtrooper uniforms, this depiction makes the scene more dramatic in my opinion. Also the sound editing (and actually editing in general) feels kinda off during this fight so I'll just go ahead and say I prefer the comic version. Chewie knocking out fascists with his fists is great. The narration is top notch. Also the trooper shot all the way through lmao.
(Sidenote: this page also mentions cell block TX-138, which is TS-138 in the script and simply 1138 in the movie. I guess just like with TK they wanted to make the reference more obvious?)
Everything on the next page seems to be entirely comic invention and I love it! So much added tension.
Tumblr media
The guy has a wonderful death pose. But "space-pirate"?
Tumblr media
Comic Luke has no time to open doors normally:
Tumblr media
And next we come to this beautiful collection of panels:
Tumblr media
All of these lines are directly from the script as well. I adore Leia's expressions, especially in panel 3. That does seem like the appropriate reaction.
And we end the issue with this tease:
Tumblr media
I can't wait.
This issue was kind of short on weird Lukes with all the helmets and so on... but I got to share this one:

Unrequited Destiel...
The Legend of The Sun and The Moon
I just wanted to explain in a few words to those that are asking why Dean didn't reply to Cas or why is Jensen talking about angelical way to feel things.
I know they're a lot of post saying WE TOLD YOU THIS AND THAT, and is true. Because if you read my Destiel Chronicles from the beginning, you will see I ALWAYS CALLED THE UNREQUITED LOVE FROM CAS AND DEAN'S POV.
Some of you disbelieves this idea, but is the only way to intepretate why Destiel is the slowest slow burn ever.
No more intro, let's suffer together...
Season 4 and 5 JUST A FLIRTING GAME
Once Dean was pulled out from Hell, Castiel wanted to talk with him. He didn't wait a second. Things blew and it was messy, and even Bobby was scared that that thing would hurt his idjit. But it was just Cas, trying to speak with Dean, desperately trying to reach him in his true form. Why? Because he wanted to talk with him. He had to explain Dean's mission but also, he felt fascinated. And even more after their first meeting face to face when he was finally able to find a vessel.
And Dean just it took him just a little of his time to feel the same fascination. The almighty angel, that could see right through his soul.
But also the angel that said things like...
And we have the handprint too, such an intimate sign between these two.
Castiel showing him, honestly showing him with words and actions, his special interest on him:
"My superiors begun to question my sympathies. I was getting too close to the humans in my charge. You."
How would Dean take this here? The poor guy just decided to check out the angel, and speechless as he was at that moment, couldn't reply to it. "Is he flirting with me? Does he know how gay this sounds?"
Then Cas rebel against Heaven for Dean. Dean pushed him, the whole he pushed Cas to help him. If you rewatch season 4 Dean is constantly asking Cas to help him. Because he already know Cas was different. Because he felt Cas was his friend, his ally, and something else it was growing up in his chest.
While Cas pushed him against the wall, cut his forearm and drew the sigil, Dean's face is full of awe. He can't believe this soldier powerful angel is doing this for him.
And then... "We're making it up as we go."
Tumblr media

The beginning of season 5 is a very busy Cas searching for God, but also, the flirtation begins. Dean is like a cute boy flirting with his crush. The second meaning jokes, trying to figure out if Cas catch it is hilarious. But he will understand 'Cas doesn't understand that reference.'
From Dean's POV in these two season, we coul under he thinks angels are junk less.
Season 6: The profound Bond and the Longing
The romantic feeling from both sides began to flow even more when Castiel goes into the black side, and the first Destiel break up appears infron of our eyes in the middle of a very romantic scenes.
Tumblr media

Gif credit @inacatastrophicmind
The last gif is out of discussion, bot men looking at each other with sad eyes, longing and as if their conversation isn't over. Dean being disappointed at Cas and Cas trying to make him see his point. Everything he does, he does it for Dean.
And now we know why it is.
Season 7: Mourning Dean and the Jealousy
Even with Showrunner Sera Gamble trying to focus Dean's morning into a Wincest subtext, we had put king Ben Edlund came to the rescue in episode 7x09.
Putting things in order, we were faced with Dean's source of depression: Castiel's death.
So, after that, when Cas really comes back, the reunion is another romantic movie. The MEMORY LOST trope.
And then... Castiel's pseudo wife...
The trope is getting better with the spicy Jealousy in Dean's eyes.
Gif credit @impalaofgrace
Tumblr media
So he can't completely enjoy Cas is back because:
1) He doesn't remember him: so, how can be mad or anything else if Cas doesn't remember any details of their break up?
2)The guy has a wife! Okay, so, he has a wife, he easily got a wife from... Nowhere?
And then Meg comes and he is Jealous all over again!
Dean is a really mess of feelings, but in the end, when Cas recalls everything, and when I say everything, i mean Dean, because the majority of his memories was him, Dean just pulls out from his car Castiel's bloody trenchcoat and gives it him back!
So, if there was any doubts about why was Dean mourning and depressed for, we have the confirmation!
Then, let's turn the page, because now is Cas the mess... Depressed and suffering, because he almost destroy heaven, but, do you know what cares the most to Cas and when he cheers up? Yes...
When Dean says... "I RATHER JAVE YOU, CURSED OR NOT" Castiel immediately changed his face, he smiles, and kept staring at Dean with heart eyes. He was happy because Dean was forgiving him. Because since he recovered his memories, the biggest cause of it was Dean's rejection. Dean not being able to forgive him. That was the main cause of his sadness. That's why he avoided reality, he didn't have a cause, because his cause was Dean and Dean was mad at him. But now? Cas is happy again. That's why he decides to come back to battle. "I'll go with you."
Season 8 Purgatory of love and Pining!Dean
Okay, is in this season, Carver era, when Dean's POV has a turning point about Castiel and his true feelings for him and is in this season, when Dean starts pining strongly for the angel, and feeling his love is unrequited.
The cause of it, is Purgatory. The Purity about Purgatory resided in the capacity of that place to resides in abolish every human necessity to let the mind to focused in what really matters. In this case for Dean was SURVIVE AND CAS.
So we can say that what remained pure in Dean's heart was TO FIND CASTIEL.
That's why he prayed to him every night, and that's why in the moment Cas CONFESS he ran away to protect him, something in Dean changes forever.
Gif credit @agusvedder
Tumblr media
If you pay attention to Dean's face reaction here, is the expression of the man that realizes in that precisely moment his feelings for Castiel. Even Cas stares to a side, because there was Benny watching them, and the thing he was about to say it was too intimate. I did it to protect you.
Dean, the Big Protector, is being protected by Castiel. So, in Purgatory, Dean Winchester find out his not platonic love for his best friend.
Then we had the entire season with pining!Dean and deception.
Dean's mind invented one excuse for Castiel running away from him because thinking his best friend abbandoned him, was just too painful. He does this again when Cas pushed him inside the gate and he stays in Purgatory. Dean just rewrote in his mind the whole sequence. Imagining that Cas was defeated. But the reality was, Castiel wanted to stay. And when Cas reveals this truth to the hunter, Dean's face is a mix of deep sadness and deception. He felt really rejected by his friend. He felt his unrequited romantic love for him. But he will feel it more stronger in the crypt scene, with the brainwashing and how Castiel's love for Dean broke th connection. But he left. That was a real rejection the hunter barely could handled.
Season 9: Pinning!Castiel and Human!Cas
When Cas became Human, he has to face all the intensity of human's feelings. In this season, is time for our angel to realize his romantic love for the hunter.
Castiel will mirroring Dean's pining in season 8, and he will also feel rejected by him.
Just like Dean in season 8, Castiel will feel his romantic love is unrequited, after Dean kicked him out from the bunker, being this the parallel to the crypt scene.
But then Cain's mark comes, and everything gets worst.
Season 10: Castiel is Dean's Colette
The whole Cain's mark was the visual sign of the Destiel handprint (profound bond) attempt of break.
With Cain and Dean going through a perfect parallelism in which Crowley was placed in the friend's spot, Sam in the brother's spot and Castiel in Colette's spot. Blatant and canon exposure of what Cas means for Dean.
But now, is time for Dean, after came back for being a demon, to feel unrequited again. And this is a detail that could be not seen, but it caught my attention.
CASTIEL: At least temporarily. It’s a long story. Crowley, stolen grace. There’s a female outside in the car.
This is what Castiel says when he goes into Dean's room and after Dean praises him...
Tumblr media
Gif credit @inacatastrophicmind
Dean had been with Crowley when he was a demon this whole time, so Cas was heartbroken. Even this season opens with a very depressed Castiel in the bed just let himself die because Dean was gone. So, that's why Cas says this.
So you went with Crowley, i have a female in my car. See? I don't need you.
He was Jealous, and now Dean gets Jealous, but he also gets the sensation again of his love for Castiel is unrequited.
The episode that followed this one, Dean goes into a blind date with random chick he took from a date app (very ooc, but he did it because he had his heart broken and because he thought CAS had cheated on him while he was gone as a demon.)
Season 11: Dean resist a forced bond with Amara because he's bonded with Castiel
Season 11 is a blatant exposure of Dean's feelings for Castiel. There a lot of hints throughout the season telling us Dean is in love, just like in season 9 there was hints of this with Castiel. (Again, mirroring each other).
Dean resisted Amara because of his love for Castiel. But Cas is oblivious about this.
When Castiel is possesed by Lucifer, Dean switch's into desperate mode. If he was worried about his attraction for Amara, now the only thing he cares was Castiel, exposing again WHO DEAN IS IN LOVE WITH.
But when Dean wanted to rescue Castiel, and Cas didn't want to come back to him, it hurt him worst. Again, just like in season 8, Dean can't handle Cas doesn't want to come back with him (first from Purgatory and now from being possesed). Again Dean feels rejected and unrequited. That's why when Cas is back and the end of the world is close... Dean says these words...
"You're our brother, Cas. I want you to know that."
And Cas' face...
Tumblr media
Gif credit @mad-as-a-box-of-frogs
That's a man with the heart broken, mostly because we know now he was in love with Dean CANON FACT! (sobbing louder).
Season 12 and the confusing I LOVE YOU
This season was full of married couple situations, but mostly, we had Castiel's I Love You in the barn, before "dying".
At first Dean thinks the angel was saying this as goodbye, expressing into words his feelings for the Winchesters. Because as and angel, maybe Cas was feeling he has to protect them all. But then he says this singular I Love You to Dean, and the guy doesn't know how to take it. It was a platonic ILY? A non platonic ILY? Does angels feel the same like us? Does he sees me as a brother? Dean was truly a mess, so he decides to respond to that with a Mixtape.
But, when Castiel disappears for days, he sinks again into that sensation of unrequited romantic love.
Then Cas comes back, and then he goes away again, and then he dies.
Season 13: The reunion and the meaning of Castiel coming back
Dean's mourning for Cas can't be interpreted otherwise than LOSING THE LOVE OF HIS LIFE.
And the longing for his angel plus some Nougat powers, brought him back.
The thing is, Dean didn't expr as his feeling for Castiel and when the angel asked him that he needed to believed that he came back for a reason, Dean goes...
Tumblr media
Gif credit @inacatastrophicmind
This sound like if he was recruiting Cas for war. And Cas' took it as that. So he came back to soldier angel mode. Because, okay, if Dean and Sam needed him to fight, he will fight.
Unrequited Love again.
Season 14 Healing Dean and the prelude of the break up
Post-possesed Dean is a follow up of self knowledge and self growing. He was healing the whole season.
But in episode 14x04 we heard Dean being Jealous or hurt because Castiel didn't go to rescue him and then because he goes into hunts with Jack. Unrequited love again.
Did Cas miss me as I missed him?
Is the first time Dean will actually name the word LOVE talking with the kid.
And then Mary dies and everything is a mess.
Dean yells YOU ARE DEAD TO ME, and how sad that sounds now that the angel had died again. Saving his life.
Dark clouda over our ship...
Season 15: And Maybe is not too late...
In season 15 we lived the angst of the Destiel break up, but then their reunion in Purgatory was beautiful.
Again, facing the fact that he could lost Cas one more time, Dean went down on his knees and prayed to him, and because he was in Purgatory, his heart and mind were released from any distraction, and he was plenty focused in the love he feels for his angel.
Tumblr media
He cried, and begged for him to come back.
And he found him, following his heart, the profound bond he has with Castiel.
But, when he was about to say something that he hadn't said in the prayer, Castiel cut him off. So... Again the hunter had to swallow his words and the unrequited love punch him again.
Then... Castiel's romantic love confession took Dean by surprise, because, now that you read all the clues i gave you and i convinced you that Dean and Cas thought their love were unrequited, you will understand Dean's reaction.

Dean didn't can't believe Cas had loved him the way he does this whole time and now, he will lose him again. Is too much pain he can't handle.
For a lot of reasons we had analyzed so many times (Dean's arc has to have a closure expressing his ILY to the angel, the Empty plot is not ended, Etc) Is logical to think Cas will come back in the last episode, and this slow burn story will end with them being together, finally.
To Conclude:
The legend of the Sun and the Moon talks about two lovers that can't be reunited but they love each other deeply.
Is accurate with Destiel, because these two men had always being pining for each other but never be able to be together as they wish.
Castiel always thinking Dean doesn't reciprocate his romantic feeling for him and Dean thinking because Cas is an angel, he doesn't love him back romantically.
The Sacred Oath always playing in Castiel's POV as an impediment too and Dean's love clocked in shame too.
The deal with the Empty had been settled as we suspected in season 14, as a romantic plot. So, it has to have a closure.
These thoughts are based on the volumes from my assay "The Destiel Chronicles", currently in it's 87th volume.
See you soon! Have faith!
Destiel Is Forever!

how you meet - haikyuu!
Warnings: none
boyfriend scenarios [1] [masterlist]
Tumblr media
daichi sawamura
You were running late to your volleyball practice,”not again, not again!”you sprint towards the gym.
You swing the door open unintentionally smacking a person on the other side,”aita (ouch)!”the person groans in pain.
“Oh shoot! I am so sorry,”you bend down and profusely apologised to the male who’s bent over in pain, he waves his arm as if to days it’s okay.
Your captain tsks at you for your tardiness and your clumsiness,”(last name) please bring Daichi-san to the clinic and run five extra laps when you get back,”she instructs you and you nod.
You help the male up and walk with him to the clinic,”I apologise again Daichi-san,”I bow my head. “It’s alright, don’t worry about it,”he smiles at me as he clutches his face.
We reach the clinic and the nurse looks at me,”again, (last name)-san?”Daichi quirks his eyebrow at you, stifling a laugh at your embarrassment state.
I rub the back of my head,”how many people have you hit?”he looks at you with amusement in his eyes.
“I think four?”
sugawara koushi
Walking into the gates of your new school, Karasuno High. You were having new student nervousness, as much as possible you didn’t want to be late to class.
You took out your student packet to check where your shoe locker and classroom was located.
Finding your shoe locker was easy enough to find but your classroom was not, you had gone up and down the floors and was still not in luck.
“Hey, you seem lost. Are you new here?”you turn around and you meet a grey haired male,”oh is it that obvious?”you joke awkwardly but nod your head.
“I’m looking for class 4, any chance you can help me?”you say as you hand over your student packet to the male. “Well, you’re in luck, I was heading that way.”
“Thank you,”you say happily and he just laughs at you. “I can show you around the school, later. I’m Sugawara Koushi by the way,”he flashes you a smile.
“That would be awesome! I’m (last name) (first name), it’s nice to meet you!”
asahi azumane
It was a regular school day, nothing out of the ordinary except for you rushing down the third year floor.
You were holding a stack of papers your teacher had instructed you to bring them to his desk and you had completely forgotten to do it.
Being distracted you had not seen the ace of Karasuno as he exited his classroom and colliding into the tall figure, making all the papers fly.
You had looked up to the male you bumped into and was intimidated by his looks. Slightly frightened you bowed immediately. “I am so sorry Asahi-san, I was not paying attention where I was going.”
Quickly trying to gather the scattered papers and leave but you were surprised as Asahi helped you picked up the papers. “It’s okay, it was my fault too (last name)-san.”he apologises as he handed me the stack., hands both touching.
You both looked away with pink tinted cheeks before you quickly left.
nishinoya yuu
You had been chatting to your friend, (friend name) at your school’s courtyard, enjoying your lunch and the afternoon breeze.
Out of the corner of your eyes you noticed the blond streaked second year rolling in the dirt yelling,”rolling thundaaa!”
You couldn’t help but stare and giggle at the hilarious sight, he knocks into his bald friend which breaks into a playful argument.
The two males turn their attention to your giggles and stare wide eyed as they have made a pretty girl laugh.
You flush in embarrassment having Ben caught staring at them and turn back to your friend who snickers at you, she leans into whispering,”blond streak guy is approaching.”
He taps your shoulder and you turn to him,”I’m Nishinoya Yuu and I think you’re cute,”you flush even more red.
“I’m (last name) (first name) and I think you’re funny,”you introduce yourself and the boy nearly blew a fuse, he runs back to his friend who pats him on his back.
tanaka ryuunosuke
The soft jingle of the bell alerts you that a customer has entered the cafe, you quickly rush to the front of the counter ready to take their order.
The voices of teenage boys fills the small cafe, all of them talking loudly, yelling out their orders before their senpai yells at them to be quiet.
“Hi, what would you all like to order today?”you ask politely once they have settled and quieted down, after their senpai ordered for everybody, they all take their seats.
You move to the back of the bar and start making their orders, once finished you brought their orders to their tables.
“milk for #1 setter?”you question as you hold up the cup of warm milk, a boy with midnight hair raises his hand and mumbling a small thank you.
“Caramel Latte for the MVP?”a bald male raises his hand and takes the cup from your hold, his friend elbows his and points towards you.
“Hi. I think you’re hot, I’m Tanaka Ryuunosuke,”he smiles flirtatiously but he gets smacked by his senpai,”Tanaka apologise!”
“I’m sor-,”you cut him off, giggling at his antics, he was kinda cute. “Thank you, I’m (last name) (first name),”you wink at the male before giving the rest their drinks.
His cheeks heat up as his team teases him.
kageyama tobio
I’ll be partnering everyone up for the semester long project, you have the whole semester to work on this.”your sensei announces and all the students groan in annoyance.
“Kageyama and (last name),”you turn to the grumpy male offering a small wave only to receive a scowl in return.
Well this was going to be a long and fun project, you sigh. Your partner was already not up for it, after all the announcements you approach him.
“Kageyama-san, how do you want to go about our project?”you ask as you pulled a chair to sit across him, he blushes but hides his face from you.
“I-I-I can do it after my volleyball practice.”he curses himself for stammering,”oh okay, should we exchange numbers?”you tilt your head.
“S-sure,”he hands you is phone and in return you hand him yours, your classmates look in shock as the setter’s ears burn hot.
“We can start on it this weekend, just message me after your practice.”
hinata shouyo
“(last name)-san, would it be okay if you tutored a fellow classman?”Takeda sensei asked apologetically,”I don’t mind sensei,”you offered the stressed sensei a gentle smile.
“Thank you, (last name)-san, his name is Hinata Shouyo,”he points to the orange haired male jumping around the courtyard.
“Hinata!”Takeda sensei calls the energetic male and he bounces over to both of you,”This (last name) (first name), she’ll help you with your exams,”the male nods in understanding.
“Please listen to her, if you don’t pass you won’t be able to go to the training camp in Tokyo,”Takeda sensei warns him and it petrifies the poor boy. “Yes I will,”he salutes sensei before turning his attention to you.
“Help me beat bakageyama!”he bows to you and you can’t help but laugh, who’s bakageyama?
tsukishima kei
You huff in frustration, it has been five minutes and you were in the same situation. The book that you have been needing still sat at the top most shelf and you were still unable to reach it.
You stand on your tippy toes and attempt to at least touch the dammed book. Your finger grazes the spine of the book but that was it.
“I swear!”you quietly say and ball your fists, a large shadow looms over you and takes the book from the shelf with ease.
You crane your head to your hero and you are met with the sour face of your tall blond classmate, he drops the book in your hands.
“Thank you Tsukishima-san,”you gratefully bow your head in thanks earning yourself a “tch” sound as a reply.
“Elementary students do not belong here (last name),”he says before returning to his seat.
You stand in your spot even more annoyed and embarrassed with enflamed cheeks.
yamaguchi tadashi
“Excuse me, are you Yamaguchi-san?”you ask the green haired male, he turns to you and nods shyly. “You must be (last name)-san?”he asks back.
“Yup. Thank you for accepting to tutor me in algebra.”you bow your head, the male becomes flustered and his cheeks burn red as the whole class turns their attention to the both of you.
“It’s n-no problem (last name)-san,”he managed to get out and you jump in joy startling the poor green haired male.
“We can meet up after my practice,”he says and you nod your head,”okay. I’ll be waiting Yamaguchi-san.”you yells as you sprint out of the class in a hurry.
Leaving the poor boy flustered.

The tops books I read over the 2020 – you know, what I could fit in between the entire world collectively losing its mind and a literal plague being unleashed on us.
This is ridiculously late, but my new year was just too busy to get this done and fight with tumblr over uploading x.x so here it finally is. I won’t go into detail about them, because I did that in my various monthly reviews, but (with the exception of Crave which was unspeakably bad but made the list because it was strangely iconic for my summer this year) this assortment of novels, novellas, comics, and manga were all fantastic reads that I would recommend people check out!
The list in a not-picture form:
A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood by Fred Rogers – a collection of illustrated poems from Mister Rogers
Belle Révolte by Linsey Miller – most recent queer novel by one of my favourite authors, about magic and science and war and medicine
Behind The Scenes by Bisco Hatori – a manga series by the creator of Ouran Highschool Host Club, a great coming-of-age story about a students in the theatre prop department
Binti by Nnedi Okorafor – a scifi novella about the first of the Himba people to leave for space after being accepted into the most prestige university in the galaxy
The Bromelaid Trilogy by Terry Pratchett – a series about a dying race of nomes who discover there’s more of them than they thought and more to the world than they imagined
Crave by Tracy Wolff – worst paranormal romance book I’ve ever read, derivative of, somehow, everything, do not fucking bother
The Deep by Rivers Solomon – a novella about a race of deep sea mermaids and how they cope with the traumatic history of their people
Doll Bones by Holly Black – a story about a group of kids as they struggle with growing beyond playing make believe and a ghost that may or may not be haunting them
Flawed Dogs by Berkeley Breathed – a story about dogs and how they survive in against the human standards of perfection and beauty, both hilarious and traumatically brutal
FRNCK by Olivier Bocquet & Brice Cossu – a French graphic novel series about a boy who accidentally falls back into prehistory and is adopted, somewhat reluctantly or at least with great confusion, by a family of cavemen
Ghost Hunters Adventure Club and the Secret of the Grand Chateau by Dr Cecil H. H. Mills – a Hardy Boys satire written by the Game Grumps which was probably the funniest book I read all year, I would highly recommend it even as someone with zero interest in the Game Grumps.
Gregor the Overland by Suzanne Collins – Gregor discovers a hidden world under New York populated by giant animals and strange humans that are determined to draw him into their political turmoil
The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson – I feel like I read this ten years ago. The novel that the Netflix series was loosely based on, a very cool horror with fascinating themes built into the subtext
Kings, Queens, and In-Betweens by Tanya Boteju – a Canadian slice-of-life novel about a young queer teen falling into the LGBT scene for the first time and figuring out friendship, love, and who she is
The Last Book On The Left by Marcus Parks, Henry Zebrowski, and Ben Kissel. True crime stories with a comedic twist, adapted from their podcast The Last Podcast On The Left.
Lupin III: World’s Most Wanted #3 by Monkey Punch – anyone on this blog knows I fell hard for Lupin this year. A goofy series about a world class thief and his team.
The Marrow Thieves by Cherie Dimaline – probably the best book of the year for me. A post-apocolypse story based around the horror of residential schools, climate change, and illness
Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyers – look I loved the Twilight series too much as a teen when it was first coming out not to have gone head over heels for this. Unabashedly loved it.
No Fixed Address by Susin Nielsen – a Canadian novel about child poverty and homelessness, more light-hearted and hopeful than it sounds
The One And Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate – a gorilla that’s spent his entire life placidly living in a tiny mall exhibit meets a new friend and suddenly has something bigger to live for and protect
Our Dreams At Dusk by Shimanami Tasogare – one of the best queer manga series I’ve ever read, super artsy and focuses on the different complicated experiences by a number of different characters
River of Teeth by Sarah Gailey – alternative history novella about a gay gunslinger and his team of hippo-cowboys in Louisana as they go on the biggest heist of their careers - so worth the read, this was tons of queer fun
Sanity & Tallulah by Molly Brooks – a graphic novel about the hijinks two young children (and aspiring mad scientists) can get up to on their space station home
The Witcher: The Last Wish by Andrzej Sapkowski – can you believe The Witcher came out this year? Anyway, the novels were fucking amazing, some of the best high fantasy I’ve read in years

A morbid thought hit me just now, how many romance sidequests do actually hold up? Like thinking on it I only love two of the six, and kinda like one. Over half of the romance sidequests have been duds! O__O
I don’t quite agree that they were all duds, but some of them were pretty bad, and others didn’t quite live up to expectations. Let me take a look-through:
The Celestial Ball is probably my favorite overall, even to this day. It just holds up really well, and it doesn’t really have any problems that the other quests don’t have as well. (The recycled dialogue, for example.) I think the success of this one comes from the focus on the event, preparing and enjoying it with our friends. This one is the best TLSQ out of all of the others overall, but it’s not necessarily the best Dating TLSQ, if that makes any sense. Because it plays things more ambiguously. It stars Penny, but her inclusion makes sense for the character and the rest of the cast does get adequate screen-time. The only thing is that, once you’re at the Ball, you wind up spending most of the night with Penny except for one scene with your Love Interest. So it winds up feeling like you’re on a Date with Penny regardless of who you pick, but again, the lack of overt romantic themes make that easier to swallow. Andre being the Style Wizard is introduced here, and he comes up with three boss outfits. Not to mention, Rowan gets a bigger role, and their relationship with Ben comes into play. Bill x Rowan gets teasing, too! How could I not love this one?
The First Date TLSQ is much more steeped in romance. Not just in the sweet and wholesome moments, but also in the high school drama, alas. It was the quest to introduce cutting characters and it removed three of them, while only adding one in return. So it’s got that working against it. The whole premise of MC writing the note is just so damn silly. I can laugh at it, but it really doesn’t make sense, especially since half of the options aren’t even in their Potions class. Tonks and Charlie, for as much as I love them, really need to work on their social skills because guys, guys, guys. What were you thinking? Characters expressing sadness that you didn’t choose them is an interesting concept, I’m both relieved and a little disappointed that they never explored this more. The scene in the courtyard at night was nice enough to make everything else worth it, but the whole idea that MC’s love interest might not like them anymore is a bit hard to go along with. One final plus though, is that this quest has the best outfits to choose from, period. I know it’s subjective but damn, Andre really outdid himself this time.
Valentines Day I...oh boy. The culmination of so much I don’t like. This quest started the tradition of having all of the love interests needlessly confess to MC, taking up valuable time for a reveal that doesn’t matter if you don’t choose the character and makes things awkward...and also doesn’t matter if you do choose them because it removes all tension and  honestly? If the character is available, I already know they’re going to say yes. Penny acts like she’s drunk during the entire quest, and not in a charming way either. It really gets to the point of being out of character. And Gilderoy. Fucking. Lockhart. He is so annoying. Jam City got so caught up in featuring any canon character they could, that they never stopped to realize no one wanted to see this guy and watch him consume most of the screen time. He gets away with stealing MC’s story at the end, as well? Like, what? How? The Greenhouse scene is one of the most beautiful to be depicted thus far. It honestly makes the entire quest worth it...but it doesn’t save the quest, and I maintain that it comes out of nowhere. It’s a brilliant standalone scene...but it doesn’t make up for the final sin: Tulip is omitted for absolutely no given reason and as a major fan of hers, I am not happy about this.
The Festival TLSQ: Better than First Date and Valentines I, but not as good as the Celestial Ball. The story is more fun, especially with the added feature of outside classes. I like the overall carnival feel of the event, but I kind of wish this game didn’t constantly centralize MC, Penny, and Merula. Especially in the dating quests, with the whole concept of the election. Why is MC on the ballot if they didn’t run? Why can they only vote for two of the potential love interests? I know it’s a personal thing and it really kind of started in Valentines, but Andre’s outfits appeal to me less and less as time goes on, and he’s making fewer of them. That being said, I much, much prefer the concept of a “Secret Admirer” to just having everyone confess to MC, and “I think about you gobs” still makes me laugh every time I hear it. Lockhart does show up again and his sequence absolutely frustrates me. Like, he doesn’t stay as long as he did the first time and we do get to kick his ass...but why would he even dare show his face again after the botched memory charm? Why is anyone even listening to him or letting him hog the spotlight? Why is he here? Damn it, just let me and my date play around with painting our faces! I whine, it’s true, but this one is still miles better than it’s predecessor. It adds new characters, quite a few of them, and it also stars Andre. He normally doesn’t get the spotlight, so these things really work to the quest’s favor.
Valentines Day II: This one is far from being the best TLSQ we’ve ever had, but I actually do think that on the whole? It is the best Dating TLSQ we’ve had. It really captures the theme of falling in love, and the feeling of being a Valentines Day episode. The whole storyline about Pince and Filch? I really like that! The fairytale, storybook motif? It kinda really works! We once again have everyone outright confessing to MC, but I’m just gonna ignore it. The outfits look pretty damn good actually, but I am heartbroken that Luca can’t wear that skirt. Ah well, at least gals can wear the suit. The characters just work together well in this quest, there’s a sense of comradery in putting together the event and melting Pince’s frozen heart, right down to putting Filch in that hilarious outfit and dying Mrs. Norris pink. The whole plot being a reference to a rumor from the books is great. And yeah, MC’s date would have had absolutely no time to set up that whole set-piece in the library but what do I care? It was a really sweet moment. That’s just what works so well about this quest - it’s sweet. Between MC and their Date, between Filch and Pince...it was just a fun story to watch unfold, and at the end of it all, you get to celebrate with your love interest.
Enchanted Kiss: This one had such a promising start. I love the whole concept of MC auditioning for a play, actually putting on a production, and being cast alongside their love interest to be the romantic leads. It’s not even a “dating” TLSQ technically since you don’t go on a date with your chosen character. But you get to choose them early on and ignore all of that confessing nonsense. You get to work toward putting on a play. You get to work toward saving it...but unfortunately, that’s when it all goes wrong. I’ve said my piece about why it was a terrible idea to make everything about MC, and that kind of infected the rest of the quest. There are no outfits for any of the dating options, nor does MC even get to choose between outfits this time. Little details like that combined with how quickly this one came out after the last one lead me to believe they were perhaps rushing to get it out and I don’t know why. They went to the trouble of coming up with that adorable animation for the enchanted kiss...and they couldn’t have put a lip kiss in it, at the very end? Come on Jam City, you know that’s what everyone really wants! It’s the same as how they tease the idea of MC and their Date saying “I love you” for the first time, but this doesn’t happen either. It just started so well and became very disappointing, but it was still fun overall.

The Difference: Part 1
Pairings: Mark Sheppard x Reader
Warnings: None??? Swearing must likely...
Word Count: 3204
A/N: So I’m back..... IDK Im outta shape on posting here, y’all.... hope you enjoy it, OK?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In your opinion, first dates were literally the worst, but with a very involved Greek mother and grandmother, a large, extremely loud group of Italian aunts on your father’s side, and a persistent twin sister, you didn’t have a choice but to go on them. Because God forbid you say no. That two letter word was like a grenade in your household. Your mother, who you currently lived with because you were a single mother, would instantly start praying for your soul before calling your sister to pray with her as well. Your father, who was a giant instigator no matter how much he denied it, would head upstairs to ‘stay out of it’, have a brief conversation with his mother, and the phone tree would be instantly activated. Within a matter of minutes, you had your Nonna and eight aunts in your room, reminding you once again, that a single mother of four quadruplet boys, needed a man in your life.
So you simply went on the dates, used your one year olds as a ‘you don’t want me because I’ve got a lot of baggage’, and left before the waiter could even take your drink order just to sit in your car for an hour in silence. It wasn’t that you didn’t love being a mother. Shit, your boys made you a better person every single day. But there were four of them, and they were all a little over a year old now. And while you were so fortunate that they were all healthy babies, your second son, Luca, was born with Down Syndrome. Even with all the help your immediate and extended family gave you every single day, you still felt like you were drowning in dirty diapers and doctors appointments most days.
“You’re Mark?” You asked, dismissively as you stopped beside the chair the hostess had pointed out to you in Fogo de Chāo, one of your favorite Brazilian steakhouses, and took off your jacket. He looked up at you and nodded his head once as you sat down and took a deep breath. “Alright, I’m sorry you wasted your time in coming all the way here. I’ll make this quick. I’m 29, single… obviously… I work as a contract linguist for Homeland Security in the Pentagon, and I’m the mother of quadruplets that are fourteen months old and who have no father. So, while you process that, I’m going to drink my water and then head out because usually by the time that information sinks in, men tend to either get a surprise phone call or they have to run to the bathroom only to never come back. I don’t give a shit one way or another. Again, sorry you wasted your time.” You picked up your water glass and took a long swig as your date stared at you and blinked a few times.
“Quadruplets…” He said in a British accent you weren’t expecting as you grabbed your jacket off the back of your chair. “That’s four, correct?”
“Correct.”
“What’s the gender split?” You actually froze with your arm in the sleeve and looked over at him, unbelievingly, because he was the first date to actually ask that question.
“Excuse me?”
“Four boys? Four girls? Mixture of both?” It was your turn to blink a few times in shock as you let your arm fall to your side.
“Four… boys. Do you actually give a damn, or are you just trying to get laid, here?” A huffed chuckled bubbled up from his throat as he picked up his napkin, and laid it across his lap.
“I’m genuinely curious. And I happen to be gentleman, thank you. I am a firm believer in the third date rule.”
“Oh, are you now?” You laughed as you took off your jacket again and draped it over the back of your chair. “You’re that cocky you think you’ll get to a third date with women?”
“Not in the least. I believe the accent alone gets me to the third date and I was raised to respect women.”
“So waiting until only the third date is respectful?”
“I never specified the length of time between dates, darling. This could be date one, but between now and date two, we could have lunch half a dozen times at work, since we both work for the Pentagon.”
“Those are dates.”
“Those are not dates.” He corrected as he got up to start with the appetizer bar in the center of the dining room. “I never said I’d pay for your lunches.”
“Oh, you’re slick.” You giggled as you got up to follow him. “You’re real slick.”
“I try.” He chuckled. “So a linguist, huh? What language?”
“Greek and Italian.”
“Wow. And.” He said as he looked over at you, impressed. “Two languages?”
“Since I was born. See, my mother is Greek. She moved to this country when she was two years old with her twin, my Yaya, and my Papou. So she speaks both Greek and English. Now my father is from Italy. He’s the oldest and he has eight sisters. Huge family. My Nonna and my Nonno moved to the states before my dad was born but, like my mother, he speaks two languages. So when my twin sister, Emma and I were born, it became a battle with my grandparents on which language we spoke. So we speak both fluently.”
“See, I’ve worked with your sister before.” He commented as he waited for you to finish with the salad bar. “She did some translating for me at the request of Ben…”
“Oh, so are you a lawyer with Ben?” He nodded his head as he set his plate down in his spot and pulled your chair out for you.
“I do have quite a few years on him but yes, we are colleagues.”
“Oh what, like ten, maybe?”
“You’re generous.” He breathed as he took the seat beside you and flipped his card over. “I’ve been with the NSA for nearly thirty years… and don’t point out your age here. Emma thinks it’s hilarious to point it out every time she comes into the office to visit with young Benjamin.”
“She’s a bitch.” You said with a nod as you ripped a piece of cheese bread with your fingers and popped it in your mouth. “You get used to it.”
“Now, are you two fraternal twins? Because you look nothing alike…”
“You know, it’s funny you ask.” You sort of mumbled around your bite, which you swallowed quickly. “We’re identical. But it’s like fifty fifty on who can see it. My mom couldn’t tell us apart to save her life, but my dad has no issue. Half my aunts can tell, half can’t. Our boss can, Ben can half the time but I think he cheats, you can obviously tell. My sons are an even split, too.”
“Are any of them identical?” You nodded and let out a small sigh, taking a minute to take a drink of water for a break.
“Two of them are.” You started as you looked over at him, knowing that this was the second hurdle to get over with dates. “My youngest, Theo and Thomas. Evan and Luca are fraternal. And just like me and my sister, it’s fifty fifty on who can tell them apart. My mom can and she’s super proud of that.”
“I know you have photos.” He said as he nodded at the waiter that was making his round with a skewer of hot, top sirloin.
“Oh, I have thousands.” You confirmed as you, too, agreed to some top sirloin while pulling your phone out of your purse. “But… just…” You sighed the slightest bit and lit up the screen of your phone. “Sorry, I’m protective.”
“I already know.” He nearly whispered as he put his hand on yours over the phone as the screen went dark again. “Ben has an old photo of them on his desk. When he suggested this date, he told me you’d be stand-offish to protect them, and he gave me a very brief reason why. It doesn’t scare me, darling. Your strength just makes me even more fond of you.” You looked up at him and nodded your head with a hint of tears in your eyes.
“Evan is the oldest.” You started as you lit up the screen again and laid your phone flat on the table. “He is my trouble maker. That little man can get into everything and anything in the blink of an eye. Then Luca is next. He’s my little miracle; I almost lost him twice in the NICU but he is such a fighter. I can’t tell you how many times people said I should have terminated him because he has Down syndrome. But he has taught me… so much more than any school or any thing could just in this last year, and he continues to teach me more every day. Theo, then Thomas are next. I don’t think they look anything alike…”
“Really?” Mark asked incredulously. “See they look identical to me, here.”
“Photos are a little harder with the two of them for me.” You agreed as you pushed your phone  across the table. “I have to take an extra second to really look. But face to face there is no question. They are two completely different personalities. All my boys are so different. And they all give me a run for my money.”
“Boys will do that.” He chuckled as he nodded at the next waiter, who had parmesan pork. “I think I can consider myself an expert and say that, as they get older, they will be even more of a handful.”
“You’re not helping here.” You giggled around a bite and behind your hand.
“You don’t think so? I think I am being extremely helpful.”
“No, now you’re just making me regret that I didn’t keep putting my coat on.”
“Oh, now why would you go and say a mean thing like that?” He asked as he put his hand over his heart. “Darling, that hurts. I thought I was doing so well.”
“Nope. You made it three steps forward and jumped eight back.”
“Bloody hell. I’m gunna have to try even harder, now. I love a challenge.”
——
You were actually pleasantly surprised with how your night went, and you were actually even more surprised that your date, which started at six PM, lasted through, an exorbitant amount of meat, salad, and cheesy bread, two amazing split desserts, and some absolutely amazing conversation. You pulled into the driveway at your house in Arlington at quarter to eleven, and you were only partially surprised to see all of the female half of your extended family waiting up for you.
“No!” You said as you walked through the front door with a shake of your head. “No, I’m not doing this…”
“(Y/N) (Y/M/N) (Y/L/N) you sit down and you talk to us right now.” Your Yaya, Calliope, demanded in Greek as you walked through the front room of the house you grew up in.
“It’s late, Yaya.” You tried before your mom’s twin, your Aunt Selene side stepped in front of you in the kitchen doorway.
“You sit down and you tell us about this man or we will go down and wake those babies up until you talk to us, you hear me?” You sighed at her and rolled your eyes. It was moments like these where you disliked having a big family, because you knew that they would absolutely wake up your boys if you didn’t stop and spill.
“He’s very nice.” You started as you held on to the door frame to take off your heels. “Funny, charming…”
“Did you kiss him?”
“I don’t trust him.”
“Did you sleep with him already?”
“Did he pay for dinner?”
“Was he a gentleman?”
“OK, you guys need to just chill.” You said as you held your hand up and looked at the room of women. “I can’t answer six questions at once, in three different languages, at eleven at night. So here’s the run down. Yes, he paid for dinner. Yes, he was a gentleman. Emma wouldn’t have set it up if he wasn’t. No I didn’t sleep with him, yes, I did kiss him. Yes, he was very good at it. He’s got a British accent, he’s taller than me, he is divorced, he has no kids but wants and loves them, and he works as an attorney for the NSA with Ben.
Now, I’m going to love on my babies, and go to bed because my lovely offspring love nothing more than to wake me up at the asscrack of dawn… sorry Nonna… Yaya…” You apologized as you held your hand up apologetically at your two grandmothers for swearing in front of them. “I love you all, and I will tell you more at family dinner on Sunday. Good night, go home, please. It’s bedtime.” You waved your hand at your aunts and grandmothers on your way to the kitchen, and they started collecting their things as your mother, Zoe, came running up behind you.
“Theo’s still up with your father.” She sighed as she handed you the baby monitor. “He didn’t eat much dinner…”
“Did you try laying him down with Thomas?” You asked as you stopped at the sound proofed basement door.
“He wasn’t having it. He just wanted his Mama.” With a huff, you kissed her cheek, and opened the door.
“Thanks, Mom. I really appreciate it.”
“It was a group effort, baby.” She said as she pat your shoulder. “Sweet dreams.”
“You too, Mommy. Love you.” She repeated the sentiment to you as you stepped on to the landing leading down to the basement, which was your and Emma’s former play room when you were kids and was now the studio apartment you shared with your four babies. You smiled at the older man who was sitting in a Lazy Boy in the middle of the room by the bathroom as he stopped rocking and nodded his head hello at you. “Hi, Dad.”
“Hey… there’s mama, see?” You smiled at your little boy as he picked his head up off your dad’s chest and looked over at you.
“Mama.” Theo choked as he turned and reached out for you with tears in his eyes.
“Oh, little man. Come here.” You dropped your shoes on the carpet and tossed your purse and jacket on your bed so you could take your son from your father.
“His bed time bottle is in the fridge. He didn’t touch it and he ate maybe three raviolis for dinner. I’m going up to bed.”
“Thanks Daddy. I’ll see you in the morning.” He nodded his head, sleepily as he trudged up the stairs, as your current little cry baby buried his face in your throat. “Alright, Theo. You gotta go to sleep, OK? But you can lay with mama for a little while. Only a little while, then you have to go in your bed.”
“No.”
“You can try to tell me no all you want, baby boy but you are gunna go to bed in your own bed tonight. Mama needs her own bed.” You grabbed the green capped bottle from the shelf of the fridge in the small kitchenette that, as a child, you never understood its purpose, but you were really grateful for as an adult. You dropped the bottle in the warmer on the counter and reached back behind your back to unzip your dress with a sigh. Theo protested a bit when you walked over and set him down on your king sized bed by the stairs, and he crawled across the blankets after you when you walked over to your small closet between the four cribs to throw your dress in your hamper and put on PJ’s. He slid off the bed, which was just a mattress and a box spring on the floor for that exact reason, and toddled after you into the bathroom.
“Oh, now we’re just being annoyingly needy.” You sighed when he latched himself on to your leg while you took off your makeup and ran a brush through your hair. Theo simply continued to sniffle until you finished and finally picked him up again. With one final heavy sigh, you grabbed his bottle and flipped off the lights, which didn’t do much since you had night lights all over the room so you could see your boys in the middle of the night.
“Alright, bed time. Bed time.” You let out a relieved breath as you sat down on your bed and leaned back against the wall. Once Theo was settled in your arms with his bottle, you shoved your jacket on the floor and retrieved your phone from your bag before it followed your jacket. You glanced at the screen out of habit, looking at your sweet boy’s smiling faces, and you smiled at the text from Mark from a few minutes before.
— Hope you made it home safe. I had a wonderful time tonight. Look forward to seeing you again.
You unlocked the screen and hit the message with your thumb.
— I had a fantastic time. I’m really glad you convinced me to stay, even if that third glass of wine is making taking care of this needy little boy a little difficult.
You hit the camera icon and flipped the view toward you and your son. You choose not to care that you didn’t have make up or a bra on any more, and took the photo of you and the beautiful, blue eyed little boy laying against your chest.
— Oh the joys of being a mother.
You set the phone down on your thigh and started to hum, hoping that you could get Theo to fall asleep quickly so you could get a couple hours yourself. Your eyes fell closed and your head gently hit the wall behind you, and the small suckling sound your son made mixed in with the sound machine that helped Evan fall asleep better than anything you had tried became your lullaby. You and Theo had both started to drift off, when your phone buzzed on your thigh.
— Oh, poor thing. I hope he goes to bed quickly for you. Sweet dreams, (Y/N). Good night… I’m gunna guess Thomas.
You smirked and glanced down at the finally sleeping little boy in your arms.
— Nope. This is Theo. Good try, though. Good night, sweetheart.
You set your phone down on your pillow and very carefully stood up to put your son to bed. He fussed for a couple seconds when you pulled the abandoned bottle from his hand and laid him down, but he thankfully stayed asleep. After checking the other three babies, you dumped out the remnants of the bottle in the sink, filled it with water, and simply left it to deal with in the morning with the boys breakfast dishes. You were already half asleep when you trudged back over to your bed and you were sound asleep the moment your head hit your pillow.
Eddie Kaspbrak deserved better.
Let me start with this. IT, written by Stephen King, made into a movie in 2017 and then another in 2019, about a clown with a big forehead, who likes dining on children, and gets his ass kicked by a group of teenage misfits (and then again when said misfits are just about past their midlife crisis). It's a horror, it's creepy and it's gross, now you see, I don't do horrors. I'm an absolute wuss. I can't even walk into a creepy abandoned building without a plank of wood in my hand for protection, and at least two people on either side of me who would obviously be kidnapped first (and that gives me enough time to scream and run away). Anyway, I don't like horrors. So you can probably guess that there was no way in hell, or earth, that I would be watching something that involved a terrifying monster who drools as much as a bulldog (he should seriously get that checked). No way I was going to read the book, as much as I love reading, and wouldn't even consider the original from the 90s although the 90s rules the movie scene (don't argue, we all know Jurassic Park is the best movie of all time). But the thing was, I have a friend, and he can be very persuading (in the form of pizza and snacks) and also, I'm a huge McAvoy fan, and James Ransone, I've never seen that guy before but well, when I saw him in the trailer, hello handsome. And don't get me started on Bill Hader, man do I fancy that bloke... Anyway I'm going off topic. So blah blah, we end up sitting down one night, with our buffet and many cups of tea, and weirdly, we start watching IT Chapter 2 first, because he wanted to see it since it was new. I go into it with no bloody clue what was going on, who was who, why parents would let their kid out in the rain by themselves, or how nobody noticed a load of bodies leaking out of the sewer. I was asking alot of questions. But, here's the thing. Onto the whole point of this rant. Eddie Kaspbrak. Eddie Spaghetti. Eds. The cute, little, angry man who instantly caught my attention (not just by the fact that Mr Ransone is a handsome S.O.B). From the moment he sped down the road in his posh jeep, yelling at other drivers (I feel your pain Eds) to crashing said posh jeep because he was distracted by a phone call (bad Eddie!) He instantly stole my 28 year old, attracted to dark and handsome older men, heart. Of course, I had no clue about these characters, all I saw was cute, angry man, funny dork with glasses, red headed lady, that guy from New Zealand, man who lasted five seconds, handsome librarian, and Professor X, and of course that clown that lives in the drain. So, as the movie went on, Eddie became my number one (Richie following behind in second). I learnt all about him from my friend, and more about him during the film, and couldn't help but feel sorry for the little bastard. He had a wife that I could tell he didn't love who treated him like doodoo, as a kid his dearest mom was overprotective, controlling and gave him freaking placebos to make him think he was ill (the fuck Mrs K?), that made him so nervous about getting sick and paranoid beyond belief, and I mean, his job wasn't the most exciting. Not to mention he has anxiety worse than a nun in a whore house, and was obviously afraid the most out of the group. And then, AND THEN, the film decides to drop some hints about Richie. Ah, dearest Richie, who has perfect taste in men. He's in love with Eddie. In. Freaking. Love with him. You could tell by the way he was so protective of him, constantly made fun of him (we all know that's how dudes get their crushes attention) and of course, R + E. So, of course, nearing the end of the movie, there's me grinning like an idiot, having the thought of Eddie and Richie getting out of the final fight untouched, Richie declaring his undying love for his Eddie Spaghetti, Eddie admitting his feelings for his Trashmouth, getting a kiss in there, Eds declaring he was divorcing him moth- sorry, wife, and the two walking into the sunset to start a new life together, in a nice cottage in the hills, getting married, having three kids, five dogs, ten cats, and living happily ever after. But then, my hopes and dreams were shattered. Stephen, I'm looking at you. They killed Eddie. THEY KILLED EDDIE! EDDIE! Out of all the FREAKING characters they could have booted off, they chose Eddie the rage monster, the little man with a big personality, the least deserving to freaking die in my opinion. Stephen, how could you? How could you?! Why did he have to die? Why did they have to end his life that way? Why couldn't he have a happy ending like the rest of the Losers? Not including Richie of course. Oh no, they didn't just fuck Eddie over, they also fucked over Richie. Killing the love of his life, right after he saves him, bleeding all over his big ass glasses, calling his name softly, looking at him with his big, brown eyes. Yep, Richie probably went home after the Kissing Bridge and thought about Eddie every damn day of his life. But no, they didn't just kill Eddie, oh no no, they went a step further. They left his body to rot in the sewers. Yes Andy, I'm glaring at you, you evil, evil man. They didn't take the route that Mr King took in his book, or from the original IT movie (yes I watched that later on too) no, Mr A decided to have Eddie die all alone whilst the Losers finished off Pennywise, then have Richie go back and see his dead body, freak out and have hope that they can save him, hug him tight, and not let him go. And then, oh boy, and then, they have Mike and Ben literally FORCE Richie off of Eddie, and DRAG him out of the sewers. WITHOUT EDDIE. I'm sorry Mr Andy, but tell me, how could they, Eddie's best friends, the ones who were always there for him, who they loved and adored, leave Eddie there in the sewers, all alone, in the dark, dirty, graveyard that would have had Eddie crying at the thought? It didn't make ANY sense to me. If Ben and Mike had the strength to drag a struggling, six foot something Richie away from Eddie, then surely they could have picked Eddie up between them, and got him out of there. If I was Richie, I would have decked the lot of them, Losers or not. And that's where I got pretty darn mad. Eddie didn't deserve that shit. For one, he didn't deserve to die. And two, he didn't deserve to be left down there, to slowly decay. He should have been pulled out by his friends, Richie could have had a moment with him, Eddie could have been given a funeral where his friends, and especially Richie could have said goodbye. Then, they'd have had somewere where they could memorialise him, go back and place flowers and silly things like inhalers and red shorts on his headstone, have a get together and remember him and talk to him, somewhere where Richie could always go to, knowing that Eddie was put to rest properly, and somewhere were he could sit and cry to himself, remembering all the fucking good times they had as kids and how god damn hard he fell for the crazy little shit. But, nah, we'll just leave him in the sewers, under a collapsed house, somewhere the Losers wouldn't want to visit again, somewhere they can't have a funeral, can't put Eddie to rest, somewhere that has too many bad memories and would remind everyone of how exactly Eddie lost his life. So yeah, you can say I'm pretty mad about all of that. I know he's a fictional character, but damn, he didn't deserve that shit. Neither did Richie. And to make it worse, when I watched the first movie afterwards, Eddie was just as freaking hilarious, and ridiculous as his older self. Little Eddie was a force to be reckoned with, he was definitely still my favourite even as a kid. The dude who played him, huge kudos to him. How could you not like tiny Eddie? It also showed me a lot more about how Eddie grew up, by that I mean how his mother really did treat him, and boy did I hate the fact that he died even more! So yeah, I may have gone off on one a tad... I couldn't help myself, Eddie Kaspbrak has now got a big place in the fictional character side of my heart. Just goes to show just how much actors can make an impact on people's lives, and how real they make them seem! So, I've said my part, and it's pretty obvious what I think about the ending to Mr Spaghetti's story. Encase you didn't get how I feel about it, it sucked. Eddie Kaspbrak should have lived. Should have had a second chance, especially with Richie! Not all movies follow the ending of books, so why did this one have to? Why did Ben and Redhead get to have a happily ever after and Richie and Eddie didn't? Why didn't they at least make his death meaningful and give him the send off he deserved? In other words, Eddie deserved better. That should be the motto of the movie. That's me signing off, I'm going to go be mad somewhere else, because I'll never get over this movie. I'm a huge fan now, but man, the ending was as bad as Bill's endings. Oh and uh, fuck you Pennywise. Oh, also, if anyone's going to Wales Comic con this Saturday (you should, because James Ransone will be there, I know right, what are the chances?) come say hi. I'll be dressed in a yellow raincoat and green wellies, holding a red balloon... Don't ask why, I just like the colours. See you later, Losers.
Is this where we do prompts? Can you do a peter Parker imagine where has powers and is recruited as an avenger and then has to share a room with peter in avengers tower, and they fall in love? Please and thank you!
AN: I really just got along with it, and made it really big. I loved writting this, and I hope you like it too. Just keep sending those requests.
Warnings: Bad words, a bit of makeout.
Words: 5k, I guess
———
You hated to admit you were kind of nervous, because it has been your dream since you found out who The Avengers were. Your old room in your foster parents house back in Staten Island was covered with pictures and news about The Avengers. When you had been invited to their tower, you were simply amazed, but kind of nervous. Now, you were following a guy carrying your bags around those endless hallways, silently and paying attention to every single detail around you. It was a beautiful place, very technological. At the end of one of them, you could hear someone talking on the phone. A voice who you knew very much. The same voice who invited you over. Tony Stark talking on his phone, probably with some investor or something. When he saw you coming in, he hung up and smiled.
“Oh, Y/N, you’re here. Welcome to The Avengers Tower.”
“Thank you Mr. Stark, I’m glad you invited me over.”
“I guess you met Happy Hogan already.” He said pointing to the man carrying your bags. “He’s gonna help you with anything you need.”
“That’s nice.”
“And I’m very sorry to say, but you’re going to be sharing a room with one of our heroes. Don’t worry, he’s harmless and he has your age. Plus, you’re way more powerful than him.”
“Can I at least know which one?”
“The Spider One, I always forget his name. Anyway, he’s nice and will help you around. Happy will show you around, and you can have all day to adjust in. Your training starts tomorrow after breakfast, and breakfast ends up at 9 AM, so don’t be late.”
“I won’t. Thank you Mr. Stark.”
So you started to follow that Happy guy around, paying attention to what he was saying while showing you around. You saw many rooms around from many heroes you used to see on TV or the internet. You got excited to be one of them, or at least becoming one of them. Your room was the last one in the hall. Happy opened the door for you and everything was dark. Happy rolled his eyes and got your bags on the floor.
“Peter, it’s almost noon and you’re still sleep.”
“Just a couple of more minutes Mr. Happy, I had a late night trying to do that stuff Mr. Stark asked me to fix and I’m really tired.”
“Just get off bed, we have guests, remember? We talked about this yesterday.”
“Has she arrived yet?” He asked with his face buried on his pillow.
“She’s right next to me.”
The boy in bed got up in a heartbeat. He was wearing nothing but his sweatpants, he had small bags under his eyes and also had a face of the person who had just woken up and didn’t want to. You pitied him, he looked very tired. The boy smiled just a little bit to see you in front of him, and you smiled back. Happy got your bags over your bed and got to the window.
“Maybe put on some clothes, Pete.” He said and the boy got the first shirt he found on the floor. A gray shirt with the saying ‘Midtown School of Science And Technology’. Happy opened the blinds, letting the light come into the room, revealing more clearly every detail in there.
“Sorry. I’m Peter Parker, nice to meet you.” He stood his hands in the air, waiting for you to shake it, which you did.
“Nice to meet you too, I’m Y/N Y/L/N.” He smiled and you smiled back.
“So I’m going to leave you two alone, don’t do anything stupid. And since you missed lunch, you both can grab a sandwich in the kitchen, but don’t tell Tony cause he’s gonna be pissed if he finds out that you’re not eating your lunch properly Peter.”
“Fine. Thank you, Mr. Happy.”
“Yeah, thank you.”
“Be nice to her.” Happy got out of the room, closing the door behind him.
You sat on your bed. This half of the room was fully empty, the opposite of the other half of the room, that was Peter’s part. His table had so many thing over it that you couldn’t even identify what was being done there. So many objects, open books and devices you didn’t even know. His bed was completely messy, with at least two blankets over it, two pillows and his Spider Man suit over there. At the other side of the bed there were so many books pilled together, forming a huge wall of books, and one of them even had a mug over it. The walls were covered with projects, some photos and newspapers cuts. If looked like it had life in it, and your side was still not as good as it.
“Sorry about the mess, I didnt get any time to organize it yesterday. I had so many work to do and since I’m leaving for a bit next week, I need to get it done. Don’t mind the books, they used to be in a shelf located on what’s now your bed.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to take you space.”
“It’s okay, I don’t mind.” He smiled at you and started to clean his desk. “So, you’re the girl with a lot of powers, right? Mr. Stark told me you have plenty of them.”
“Well, I think I have plenty, but they don’t make any sense combined, I guess. I can switch my shape, it’s called shapeshifting, as Mr. Stark said. Like, who do you want me to turn into?”
“Humm… I don’t know, myself.” You closed you eyes and concentrated on how Peter looked like, and when you opened them, Peter’s face looked hilarious.
“You look just like me.”
“I know, right?” You said changing back to what you really were.
“I loved that. What else?” You teleported to behind him, and he turned looking for you, and got scaried to see you facing him from behind. “Teleportation, good.”
“I also can get invisible if I want.” You said turning invisible, but them coming back to normal after that. “I can manipulate the four elements, specially fire. But I’m not going to show it to you, because in my opinion, it’s the most dangerous one. But the coolest one is this.” Your mouth remained still, but Peter could hear your voice.
“Telepathy.” He said and smiled. “I liked that.”
“I can also control minds, and get into other people’s dream if I want to, but it requires much of my energy and it’s definitely not nice and a bit confusing.”
“I like your powers. I was just bitten by a radioactive spider and got spidey things. Not as cool as yours.”
“Dude, you can crawl the walls of New York. That’s my dream.”
“Maybe I could take you someday.” He smiled and looked at your eyes. Was he flirting with you?
“Maybe, just tell me when.”
“Whenever you want to, babe.” Okay, he was definitely flirting with you. “So you’re from New York?”
“Kind of. I’m from Staten Island, but I lived in many other places around New York. Hell’s Kitchen, Brooklyn, Queens, Midtown and even the Upper East Side.”
“Wait. Queens? That’s where I live with my aunt.”
“Don’t you live here?”
“Oh no. I come to stay here sometimes, but I have an aunt, she’s kind of like my mom. She raised me. And I still have to go to school, and we’re not exactly anywhere near anything. So, I still have to be around the city sometimes. I stay here in summers, or just like right now, when Tony wants me training or on a mission.”
“So that’s what you meant by leaving next week.”
“Yes! But it’s just for a week. I have some final tests before my vacation, so I’ll stay here for two months probabily. Mr. Stark wants me to train you.”
“Training, sharing a room. I think we’re going to be stuck with each other for a very long time.”
“I really don’t mind.” He smiled and you smiled back.
“Yeah, me neither.”
Peter was really cool, and you just bounded instatly. He helped you unpack, organizing your things in the closet inside the room and decorating a bit of your side of the room. You told him that you were an orphan since you were eight. An accident caused by your fire powers burned your parents house down and you were the only survivor, as a curse just like you always thought. So you had to live in many foster homes and were always kicked out by being too weird for the family. They were scared of having you around their kids. It never lasted long, but the one that really lasted was the last one, but you were kicked out of the house just like happened other times. The parents were really abusive and they didn’t like when you arrived late. So Tony had his eye on you since he found out about your story, and since you were living on the Upper East Side with that really rich family, and used your powers to turn into a grown man to buy drinks at a liquor store. Last week, he finally contacted you, when he found out you were in the foster system again. As he said himself, you were now legally his child, and could live with him at that tower. Peter also told his story, of how he lost his parents, his uncle Ben, how he got bitten by that spider and told a little bit about his life back in New York. You had plenty of things in common, but he had a home and a family, you didn’t.
The next week was really good. Waking up early, having breakfast with some of the heroes like Wanda, Natasha and sometimes, Bruce. Tony, Happy and Peter were always there too. And afterwards, training, all day. You liked what you were doing, training and at night, studying with a tutor Tony hired to home school you. It was your last year of High School, so it wouldn’t be needed for much time. At night, you would just hang around with Peter, maybe watch some TV or something. But the week went by too fast, and he had to leave back to New York. You missed him, everything just seemed boring and quiet without him. You had to admit, you hated to see him gone. When Peter came back, you just spent every minute of your day together. It was a weekend, so you didn’t have any school or training, so that meant free day for both of you. It was only movies, snacks and a lot of talking. He told you about his tests, about his school and how his friends were kind of different with him, except for Ned, who he told that still the same old friend. You told him about your week too, and how Natasha came to train you and it was a heavier training, but the best one yet, and she was really sweet with you.
Many months passed, you got closer and closer to Peter. You both talked about your insecurities and demons. He was helping a lot with your very common nightmares of that horrible night. He would literally wake up in the middle of the night and come to lay in your bed and not getting to sleep until he knew that you were sleeping peacefully. And if you asked him not to go back to his bed, he would just stay there all night long. During trainings, he tried to impress you and flirting a lot in your point of view, but you get flirting and being nice mixed up sometimes, but you loved to flirt back. Sometimes he would just give you small blinks and cheek kisses around, but a forehead kiss and a hug were his thing to do with you every morning. Your heart always pounded when you were around him, specially when he was shirtless, that occured during trainings and at night before bed. You liked him, and you think he likes you too, but wasn’t very sure.
One day, he asked if you wanted to come to the city with him. He was graduating in three weeks and he was coming back to his New York home for two weeks and didn’t want to be away from you for so long. So he said you could stay at his apartment, and come to his graduation day. You didn’t even knew how he was still graduating in his school if he was also being homeschooled with you, but he said Mr. Stark and his director had an arrengement for him to only go to school in important dates like tests or other stuff, due to his internship outside town, but in condition to be homeschooled with all the content he had in school. So while he was away from the city, he wouls just keep doing whatever he needed to do.
“There’s also prom night. And I don’t have a date, so if you want to come with me.” He asked, kind of shy.
“I never went to one of those.”
“Really? But you weren’t homeschooled, right?” He seemed a bit surprised.
“No, but no one ever invited me to come to one of those proms, bowls, homecomings or school dances.”
“I can’t believe it. Okay, so I’m gonna make this one special. Pretend that I didn’t ask you anything.”
“There’s no need Pete.”
“I want to. But do you wanna come to New York with me?”
“Of course, you idiot.” He smiled and hugged you.
“So, we’re leaving by friday. Okay?”
“Okay.”
You had to find the perfect dress. So you asked Happy for help, but you both couldn’t find anything good enough online. You were almost going with that old black dress you had, but still, you wanted something special. But you weren’t even oficially asked yet. On Thursday, when it got dark, Peter took you to the rooftop to see the stars and eat some junk food he asked Happy to get him, getting totally out of your hero diet Tony specifically asked for you both to follow while training. But that didn’t matter for a while, and you had an awesome date, and at the end he got down on his knees, making you laugh very hard.
“Stop doing this, you’re making me nervous Y/N.”
“Sorry Pete, I can’t.” He held your hands and slightly laughed with you.
“Y/N Y/L/N, do you concede me the honor of taking you to prom?”
“Yes, Pete.” You said laughing and he got up laughing. “It’s getting late, and colder. Let’s go to bed.”
“Only if you agree to share your bed with me tonight.”
“No, good night Pete.”
“Come on, you’re gonna have to get used to it, cause I only have a bed in my room back in New York.”
“So let’s leave all the magic to New York.”
And so you got into the house again, back to your bedroom, where you changed into your pajamas and lied in your bed. Peter was kind of mad you didn’t let him share beds with you, so he slept only in his underwear to provoke you. You dry swallowed, and he noticed, and smiled, covering himself with the sheets.
“Don’t I get my good night kiss?”
“You don’t deserve it miss.” He said and you laughed a bit.
“You’re mean.”
“So are you.”
“Good night Pete.” You closed you eyes and after a few seconds, you felt his lips kiss your forehead, so you smiled.
“Good night my love.” Your heart pounded again, and you fell asleep smiling.
You both woke up early the next morning. Happy prepared the car to take both of you to the city, and you helped Peter prepare the breakfast for you three and Tony, who woke up early just to say goodbye and to tell he would be there for graduation day. It was a quick trip back to New York. Happy drove the car, Peter went on the front seat and you sat in the middle of the back seat. He kept his hand in the back seat holding yours for a long time, and that warmed you heart up. It didn’t took long and you were already in the streets of Queens, when Happy parked in front of a building, where a middle age woman was at the sidewalk, waiting. Peter got out of the car and hugged her for a very long time. Happy opened the door for you and you got out of the car. Peter pulled you by the hand, closer to the woman he was hugging.
“May, this is Y/N, that girl I told you about. And well, Y/N, this is aunt May. She’s basically my mom, but I call her aunt because of affective reasons.“
“It’s very nice to meet you, Y/N.”
“Thank you, it’s very nice to meet you too May.”
“Are you kids hungry? Cause I made some lunch.”
“May, you don’t have to pretend to know how to cook just to impress Y/N. She already knows you’re a terrible cooker.”
“Oh good, cause I ordered some homemade food from that old lady that lives down the street.” She made you laugh hard with that.
“It’s okay, I’m not that good as a chef either. Peter is the one who is always cooking stuff around.”
“Oh, my boy it’s just so good at everything.” She smutched his cheeks and he blushed.
“Stop it.” He said and it made you and May smile.
“So, are you going to have lunch with us Mr. Hogan?” May asked and they both crossed each others sights and thinks got kind of weird. It was clear that they had a crush on each other.
“I would appreciate it May, but Mr. Stark needs me back at the base as soon as possible. We have many things to do today.”
“At least get a sandwich. Go get it for him Peter.” He ran into the house and left you at the sidewalk with May. You both held you baggages and waited for Peter, who came back with a sandwich, a juice and an apple.
“Keep it healthy, Mr. Happy.” Peter blinked and Happy rolled his eyes.
“Thank you May. I’ll come with Mr. Stark for your graduation day.”
“Really?” Peter asked with his eyes shining.
“Of course. Everyone is coming, or you thought we would miss it?”
“I thought it was only going to be Mr. Stark.”
“So you better save some more seats for us. See you soon.” Happy got back into the car and drove off.
“Let’s go inside kids.”
Peter carried both of your bags and May lied a hand on your shoulder, guiding you into the building. The apartment was beautiful, much better than the one you used to live in when you were at some foster home in Queens. That one was really small and dirty. This one feels like a really nice place to stay and you liked it. Peter got the bags into his room and May showed you around. It wasn’t huge, but was really nice.
“I know it might not be big and luxurious as the place you live in but…”
“It’s perfect.” You interupted and May smiled.
“I’m glad you liked it.”
“LET’S EAT!” Peter cheared and went running out of his bedroom, right into the dinning room.
You all had a nice lunch. You told May a little bit about your life, and she told a little bit about hers and Peter’s, and after lunch, while eating some sweets, she showed some kid pictures of Peter, who was really embaressed and blushed. You remained there until it was already very dark. Peter got his Spider Man suit on and May rolled her eyes to him.
“You just got back, and you’re going to be out patroling?”
“I’m actually going to take Y/N for a ride around town, but I’ ll need you to put on your suit.” He said directing to you and you agreed.
Tony designed a suit for you a few months ago. It was black and yellow, and had boots, just as you liked it. And a small mask covered part of your face. You liked it very much, and it was very comfortable. Peter had his mask on and so he said goodbye to May and you both got out by the window.
“I’m gonna need you to hold very tight to me.” He said and so you did, holding him by his back, involving his waist by your leg. “Okay, don’t let me go.”
So he jumped, but before hitting the ground, he started to bounce around his webs. You screamed and started to shake. He laughed and got to the rooftop of some building.
“Are you scared?”
“I’m so fucking terrified.” You said looking down, and he laughed, making you come out of his back and holding you on his front, and being really close to your face.
“Do you trust me?” He asked, looking at your eyes. You were mesmerized.
“Yes.” You replied and he smiled.
“Good. Maybe this will make you feel better.” He started to bounce around again, and you were helding very tight onto him.
You were screaming at the beggining, but it got really good with time. You were having a lot of fun, and Peter’s funny comments were relaxing you a lot. He stopped at a rooftop in front of a mall and sat by the bord. You sat next to him, and he held your hand.
“I don’t have a dress.” You said looking down.
“What?” He asked, looking at you.
“I don’t have a dress for prom.”
“Why didn’t you tell me before?”
“Because I thought that wasn’t the kind of thing we usually talk about. And I want it to be a surprise. I want it to be perfect.”
“First, we talk about everything. Second, it will be perfect, you just need to be with me.” He held your hand tighter. “May can take you shopping tomorrow, and that way it will be a surprise to me, okay?”
“Okay.”
That night, he took you to eat dinner at a fast food store, but you ate at the rooftop of an old art gallery in Brooklyn, and watched the city that never sleeps still all awake, till it was very late and you both had to go home. May was already asleep when you got there and Peter got he bed prepared. It was a bunk bed, but the top bed was the only one unoccupied, since the other had your bags in it. You changed to your pajamas and Peter got his sweatpants on, and no shirt as always. He closed the door and the window for it not be too cold.
“I thought you said you only had one bed.”
“Yeah, I lied. But just because I never used the bottom bed. And because I wanted you to sleep with me.”
“You’re an idiot.” You got up to the top bed, but blocked Peter from getting in. “Nope, you’re going to sleep in the bottom.”
“Please, let me sleep with you.” He was pounting, and you smiled.
“Maybe if you put on some clothes, it will be nice.”
“You love my abs.” He said pointing to his naked body.
“No, I don’t.”
“I don’t care, I’m gonna sleep were I want to, however I want to.” He lied next to you and you got on your way to get to the bottom bed.
“Whatever, I’m not sleeping with you.” But before you could get out, he held you by your waist and pulled you to him, and trapped you into his arms and legs. He buried his face at the back of your neck and used a web to turn the lights off.
“Yes, you are.” He already had his eyes closed, but he made you more comfortable, holding you in a comfortable hug and covering you with the blanket.
“Where is my good night kiss?” You asked, turning to face him. His eyes opened and looked directly into your mouth, and he just kept starring for a couple of seconds, but he kissed your forehead.
“Good night baby.” He said and held you closer.
“Good night.”
The week went by very fast, and you did many things with him. You met his friends, he took you to patrol, but he also took you to many nice places. He even did the movie night with you and May, and it was a really nice date. May was being really sweet to you and even took you shopping for your dress, and paid it for you. She talked about Peter with so much love in her eyes, and you loved it. And so the day finally came, prom night. She helped both of you get ready, you in her room, Peter in his room. You knew very little about makeup, but May helped you with that. He waited at the living room until May announced you were ready, and so you came out of the room wearing a beautiful navy blue dress, sandals and a flawless makeup. Peter was mesmerized, and his eyes shined like they never did. His heart raced and he couldn’t help but show the biggest smile on his face.
“You look amazing.” He said, standing completely still.
“You look amazing too.” You replied and reached for his hand.
“I need to take pictures. Wait a minute.” May ran to get her phone and Peter just kept starring at you. He couldn’t get his eyes of you.
“You look like an angel.” He said still looking at your face.
“You’re making me blush.” You replied and hide your face on his neck.
“Don’t hide, love.” He said and you looked at his eyes and you both smiled.
May came with her phone, and took plenty of photos of you and with you. And so it was time, so she drove you to school, where it was full of students. You met with his friends, and you all just had a good time. You danced with them all, and Peter really sucked at dancing, but he was asking you for help all of the time. He was trying very hard to make you feel really comfortable around him, and it was working. You danced to every song playing that night. And so the slow dance came, and he held you very close. Hands on you waist, your face resting on his chest, your arms holding him in a soft hug, and his head resting at the top of yours. You stayed like that for a very long time, but before the song ended, your eyes met and couldn’t get off each other.
“This is the part where I kiss you.” He said keeping his voice low. You could feel his breath against your face.
“So what are you waiting for Pete?” He leaned and closed his eyes, and so your lips met for the first time. It was very slow and sweet, just like you always imagined it would be. Now you were doing what you both craved the most for many months, and you wanted to take advantage of every single second of it.
“Do you wanna go somewhere more private?” He asked and you agreed. He took you out and got to the rooftop of a build right across the street. You could see people walking around, but you didn’t really care about them, you just cared about the boy next to you. He sat down and pulled you to his lap, and started to kiss you again, making it more intense this time, and so you both stopped and smiled. “Hi gorgeous.”
“Hi.” You smiled and kissed him again. “Thank you for tonight.”
“I was supposed to be the one thanking you, my love.”
“My love?”
“If you don’t mind me calling you like that, of course.”
“I always loved when you called me like that.” You kissed him again and you both remained like that for a long time. “But do you really love me?”
“I was talking about that with May today. She asked if I liked you, and until last week I thought so. Since the very first day I liked you, but after that day, that first day here that I took you out, I realized I don’t like you. I love you, Y/N, and all of that because Mr. Stark had this huge idea to put us in the same room, doing a lot of things together. I love every single bit about you. Your smile, how you just be yourself all of the time…”
“I love you too, Pete.” You interrupted him and he smiled.
“And I love how you say my name.” He said before kissing you one more time.
After that night, you never spent a moment apart. That week was the best of your life, and graduation day came. Everyone was in town, and after meeting them all at the event, you sat next to Tony, by the end of the row. Your eyes met Peter’s and you both smiled to each other.
“What is up with you two?” Tony asked and you looked at him very quickily.
“Nothing, I was just smiling at my friend.” You replied, blushing a little bit.
“Cut the crap, Y/N. You’re blushing. I know you like him, and he clearly likes you.”
“You think so?” You asked and Tony laughed.
“Oh kid, he really likes you.” He said looking back to Peter.
The cerimony took a while, but you all went to celebrate with Peter afterwards. Everyone was there, Natasha, Wanda, Bruce, Rhodes, Pepper, May, Tony, Happy and you. And he had fun with everyone, but when he saw you one more time, he gave you a big hug and pulled you aside.
“I need to ask you something.” He said, putting his hat in your head.
“Anything.” You said and he smiled and gave you a small kiss on the lips.
“Will you be my girlfriend?” He asked and you agreed with your head.
“Yeah, Peter, of course!” He kissed you again and flipped you around, smiling during the kiss.
“Kids, stop for the photo.” May said, and Peter stopped still kissing you, and you heard May taking the photo.” This one is way too cute.”
“I loved it.” You said looking at the picture, and looking at Peter after.
“I love you.”
Summary: You and Professor Hiddleston have been colleagues for many years now, and through those years the hatred for each other has only grown. Now, as a new school year starts, you’re being told that you have to share a classroom or a class. Neither are happy about the outcome, but knowing you’ll never come to an agreement, you let the class choose for you. Team-teaching is rare in 2019, but it is a lot harder to do when you can’t stand the person you’re doing it with.
“Remember that I’m always available to answer questions.” Tom packs his book into his bag. “Have a lovely weekend.”
As the students rush out of the classroom, Tom notices a shadow leaning against the doorway. He smiles towards it and walks up with light steps.
“Enjoying ourselves, are we?” he asks Benedict.
The older man rolls his eyes. “You’re babysitting and I had to make sure you actually got out of the classroom this time,” replies Benedict. “You have persistent students.”
Tom chuckles. “I don’t believe anyone has that much to ask after the first week. There are some limits.” They walk out of the lecture hall and continue further down the hall to Tom’s office.
“Sure, some limits,” replies Benedict. “Like, you supposedly slashing Y/N’s tire?”
“You can’t possibly believe I did that.” Tom shakes his head and as they reach his office door, locks it open and walk in. “No matter what she says, I didn’t do it.”
Benedict smiles. “I know.” The man sits down on Tom’s couch. “What’s going on in that department, though? Team teaching is highly uncommon in this day and age.”
“It happened. Neither are too happy about it, but it’ll have to do.” Tom gathers his things, which is only a coat and a scarf. “Our biggest problem is we have to cooperate outside as well. It is highly annoying to have an email correspondence with someone who is passive aggressive every other sentence.”
That has Benedict laugh. “That doesn’t surprise me, not the least.” He stands up and puts a hand on Tom’s shoulder. “But, please, if you ever start shouting at each other during one of the classes, make sure I’m contacted somehow, or that someone films it. I would really love to see.”
Tom rolls his eyes with a slight smile. “Tell that to my students and they’ll gladly do so. Any excuse to use their phone during class. Any excuse to film something hilarious. They are still young, Benedict, of course they’ll comply.”
“They better. I might need blackmail in the future, or possibly just some proof.”
Before Tom can answer, a groan comes from the office next door. Benedict, the ever loving gentleman, walks over to the door of the office and knocks. Tom locks his own and follows his friend. It might turn out to be good TV.
“Come in.” Y/N’s voice comes as an annoyed sigh.
Benedict opens the door and reveal the woman sitting on top of her desk looking down at papers scattered on the floor.
“No further, please.” She looks up at them. “I’m trying to figure this shit out, but it’s a pain in the ass.”
“What is this…?” Benedict gestured to the papers on the floor.
Y/N hops down from her desk and walks around the mess on the floor. She takes Benedict’s hand and lead him carefully to a place where he can get a good view. Tom stands still, even if he wanted to see what she’s doing, there is now way she will let him.
“Okay, see this.” She lets go of Ben’s hand and gestures to a part of the mess. “It makes a pattern with this.” She gestures to another part. “And, like, you could say I’m mad for deciding to use my Friday night for some stupid history thing I saw online and decided to try because I can understand it, but honestly, it’s quite exciting what I have figured out.”
Benedict looks up and meets Tom’s gaze. “What exactly is it?” the man asks and diverts his gaze back to Y/N.
She shrugs. “I’m not sure yet, but it has to do with Norse mythology. Specifically Loki and I find that highly interesting. Plus, if I can figure this out, maybe I can do some research during the year because I miss having something extra. Miss having more than just classes.”
“Then do it. Figure it out and present it to the board.” Benedict gives her a smile and puts a hand on her shoulder. “Any help you need, just ask.”
“Thanks.” Y/N returns the smile. “Now, if you would be so kind as to leave, I might have to order some food and I don’t want anyone to take it.” She looks up and her gaze meets Tom’s.
He lets out a ‘pfft’ and stops leaning in the doorway. “Good luck,” he says and looks over at Benedict, who carefully (read: barely) manages to get out of the small room without screwing up Y/N’s work so far.
“Have fun, Y/N,” says Benedict as he closes her door. She doesn’t answer, and as Benedict has his back to Tom, he rolls his eyes.
 --
“Uncle Tom,” Kit tugs at Tom’s hand. He looks down at four year old with a smile. “Can we have jelly now?”
Tom ruffles his hair. “Yes.” He stands up and holds out his hand for Kit to take, something the boy does. “Let’s go get some jelly.”
It takes Tom a few moments and each kid (except the baby) as a bowl of strawberry jelly. Kit looks up at Tom before he takes a bite. “Why don’t you eat, too?” he asks.
“It’s not really my thing. Enjoy it. There is still more if you want when you’re done.” He smiles at the four year old, who nods as if that was a very good idea and then takes a spoonful and eats. Hal, sitting closer to Tom, eats as well but much messier. Nor did he wait to figure out if Tom wanted any.
Tom smiles. Babysitting has never been the thing he enjoys the most, but he offers if Benedict asks. Though he is relieved the baby is sleeping, and has been since he came.
He’s dragged out of his thoughts―and the quiet that comes with the kids eating―by the doorbell. Hal doesn’t seem to care but Kit shoots up. The four year old puts down his bowl and spoon and races to the door. Tom chuckles and smiles and follows the boy to the front door.
“―your father here?”
He halts at the familiarity of the voice, but continues. In the hallway, Kit stands with the door open, his arms on Y/N’s shoulders as she crouches and smiles at the kid. She looks up as she hears the steps.
“No, daddy isn’t home.” Kit looks to Tom. “But Uncle Tom is, can you talk to him?”
Y/N smiles at Kit and stands up. “I don’t think so, but if you want to listen I can talk to you?” The smiles she gives Kit has the kid grin wide-eyed at her and nod. “When’s Benedict coming back?”
Tom’s gaze meets Y/N’s as she asks the question. “Some time tonight. I’m not certain,” he replies.
“It’s date night then?” She raises a brow.
Tom nods. “What is it you want?” In front of Kit, he doesn’t want to be hostile to Y/N, but keeping the annoyance out of his voice is harder than he thought it would be. During class, he doesn’t have to think about it as much as the students usually doesn’t hear their annoyed whispers.
“He said if I needed any help I could ask, so here I am.” She gives him a tight smile. “Seems I came at the wrong time.”
Kit takes Y/N’s hand in his. “But, Auntie Y/N, you can talk to me.” The kid beams at her and Tom’s head pushes the words Auntie Y/N?! into the center of his thoughts. “Please, I love your stories.”
Y/N nods. “Of course, kiddo.” She ruffles his hair and takes of her shoes. Kit drags the professor with him into the living room and Tom, reluctantly, pads after.
In his confusion, he sends a text to Benedict. Y/N is here. Kit called er Auntie? She says she came to ask you for help. He doesn’t expect a reply, not soon anyway. And as he sits down again, seeing Y/N with Kit in her lap and Hal having moved to sit by her side, he hopes the baby starts crying so he can get away. The smile on her face as she talks, the genuine love she shows the two boys, and the way both Kit and Hal listen intently as she talks, has his gut churn.
 --
Must be fun ;) She knows the kids as well as you, Kit started calling her Auntie when he learned to talk. We’ll be home around midnight, hope you behave :)
Tom sighs at the reply from Benedict. The clock has turned nine thirty. Hal and Kit had fallen asleep on the couch. He and Y/N had taken one of them each and tucked them in. Which was right at the moment when the baby had woken up and started wailing.
Fortunately for Tom, Y/N is good with children. The baby hasn’t gone back to sleep, but at least he doesn't have to endure the wailing. They sit in the living room. The TV runs in the background, a small sound and something Tom can keep his gaze on. In a chair by the couch, Y/N sits with the baby in her arms.
“So,” Y/N looks at Tom who diverts his gaze to her, “since you’re here and alone, you don’t have anyone I’m guessing?”
Tom frowns. “Have someone?” he asks.
“You know. A girlfriend, wife, lover.” She puts an emphasis on the last word and smiles.
“No, I don’t. And why do you care?”
She huffs. “Oh, no, just like to know things I can use.” Something tugs at the end of her lips as she looks at him.
“How do you suspect you can use this? I’m not hiding it.” Tom raises a brow her way and licks his lips.
She shrugs. “Oh, you know, there are rumors that you’re single, that you’re involved, and that you,” she coughs, “like being available so that more students pick your classes.”
Tom scoffs. “I don’t do that.”
She lets out a laugh. “I know. I just like being able to pepper in.”
“Oh, so that’s what you need Benedict’s help with? Information on me.” He raises his brows.
She shakes her head. “Oh, no. I need his help with that thing you saw earlier. But, hey, thanks for the idea.” She smiles at him. “Hadn’t figured the best person to ask for help on how to get information was the person himself.”
Tom rolls his eyes. “He won’t tell on me. You will have no more than when you ask.” Unfortunately, he knows Benedict and knows Benedict thrives on their rivalry.
“You’d be surprised how much he’s already let slip.” She smirks at him.
“Do tell.” He leans forward.
“Okay, here goes.” She sits up, changing the position of the baby. “I have many stories of all the plays you’ve been in. You went to the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and wanted to be an actor but it didn’t pan out and with your intense interest in literature, you decided to pursue that instead. I know you suck at maths.” With a grin, she nods at him. “And I know, and this is the best story of all, that the rumors about you and a younger girl―she was a student but had graduated―dated for a three month period, is true. I also know that is one of the reasons so many girls have hopes that you might actually date them eventually.”
Tom leans back and scoffs. “You’re obsession is showing, Y/N. Maybe time to put your energy elsewhere?” He does not want to admit that it struck a core. Not the dating story, but rather his acting dream. Also, the number of mails he had by the end of a semester with the words I would like to inform you that I am no longer associated as a student with the university where getting old.
“My obsession is to make your reputation flush down the toilet, and so far, I’m actually succeeding.” Y/N smiles at him and leans back, yet again changing the position of the baby. “If only you knew how well this shared class thing will work for me at length, you would be scared.”
He gives her a sure-that-seems-true smile. God, the woman knows how to get on someone’s nerves.
 --
The moment they hear the front door open, Y/N shoots out of her seat and hurriedly walks to the hallway. Tom turns off the TV and follows after, only to be rushed past again by Y/N dragging Benedict after her.
He finds Sophie alone in the hallway, taking of a pair of high heels. “How was the evening?” he asks and holds out a hand for her to lean on.
She takes it and smiles at him. “It was lovely. How have the kids treated you?” She chuckles. “How has Y/N treated you?”
“They were no problem. Fell asleep easily even,” he replies. “Y/N on the other hand was not easy. She did not want to leave without talking to Benedict and I don’t know why.”
Sophie shakes her head with a smile and lets go of his hand. “I still don’t understand what this thing is going on with you two. When did it start?”
“About a year after she started working there. Second Christmas Party. I have to admit I don’t remember exactly why she got mad, but I remember her getting mad and it continuing on. It turned into whatever this is.” Tom sighs, knowing exactly what he did and that Y/N’s anger is misdirected.
“Oh, yeah. I don’t think I remember that party too well.” Sophie nods. “It’s a few years ago now, many other things have happened since then.”
Tom nods in agreement. “Anyways, it’s late and I have a dog to walk before I get to bed. Say bye to Ben for me, will you?” He gives her a kiss on the cheek which she returns.
“I will. Take care and say hi to Bobby from me,” she says with a smile.
“I will.” He puts on his shoes and coat, and grabs his scarf. “Bye,” he says, smiles and slips out of the door and into the chill September evening.
Letitia Wright Creative Writing weekly story
Hi, professor Hiddleston
About the weekly short story we are writing. I can’t really think of anything to write about. I know it’s late, but I thought you would be good help. So far I have one word, which is I.
Help is much appreciated. I would very much like some ideas on how to get ideas. Thank you in advance.
Best regards, Letitia Wright
P.S. Have a good weekend!
 Tom makes a mental note to answer the mail in the morning. He makes a reminder on his phone as well, just in case, and puts it down on the nightstand. The whole day had given him a headache and he was ready for a weekend where he could relax.
He ruffles Bobby’s head, who sleeps down by his feet, and turns of the nightstand lamp. The room turns dark and Tom tucks himself under the duvet. He closes his eyes with the need for sleep, but it doesn’t come.
In the end, he gets up and out of bed. He finds a glass in the kitchen and pours himself a glass of water. A yawn escapes as he leans against the counter, but despite it, he doesn’t really feel tired.
He finishes the glass of water and, instead of going back to bed, replies to Ms. Wright’s email. As he hits send, he sees he has a new one. Only a glance at the sender’s name has him see it says Y/N Y/L/N.
With a sigh, he clicks it.
Y/N Y/L/N Tuesday’s class
Hiddleston
I would like to speak to you about the next class. I would like us to be better prepared and have discussed what we want out of the seventy five minutes we have.
Some suggestions;
We could have a little grammar session or something that helps knowing when a sentence flows or not
A brainstorming activity to help get the weekly stories afloat
You tell them you’ll leave the class to me and I go ahead and do the thing I want to do, which is have them use each other (two and two) to write a dialogue scene. First just the dialogue and then the rest follows. And then later discuss how that differentiates from when one person writes everything, both with flow and subject area.
Don’t expect you to reply right away, and you are allowed to think about it. Please let me know by Monday morning.
Y/N Y/LN 020 **** **** Y/I/Y/L/N@*****.co.uk
P.S. You have a dog?
 Tom rolls his eyes and turns of his laptop. With that annoyance, he finds himself more tired. This time, as he tucks into his duvet and closes his eyes, he’s out like a light.
New British TV Series for 2020: BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky Dramas and More
https://ift.tt/eA8V8J
On top of the returning British dramas expected back in the coming year (His Dark Materials, Marcella and Unforgotten to name just three), below are the many, many, many new UK TV series we’re hoping to see arrive in 2020 and beyond.
You’ll find original drama from Russell T. Davies, a new space-set sci-fi from Sky, true crime series, contemporary thrillers and the usual hefty number of literary adaptations and period dramas coming your way. Here’s the same for all the new British comedy on its way in 2020.
We’ll keep this list updated as new commissions, casting news, broadcast details and release dates arrive. Obviously, with COVID-19 delays having taken at least a three-month chunk out of production on all continuing and new dramas since mid-March, there will now be serious delays, but we’ll keep you posted as news arrives.
All Creatures Great and Small (September)
Filmed in the Yorkshire Dales in autumn 2019 is a new adaptation of the memoirs of rural vet James Herriot (real name: James Alf Wight). Airing on Channel 5 in the UK and on Masterpiece on PBS in the US, this series stars Samuel West, Anna Madeley and Dame Diana Rigg, with newcomer Nicholas Ralph playing young vet James. A six-part series plus a Christmas special has been filmed, timed to mark the 50th anniversary of the first book’s publication. Expect warm-hearted stories of animal frolics and local characters.
Around the World in Eighty Days (TBC)
Filming began in South Africa on this new eight-part adaptation of Jules Verne’s classic novel in February 2020, and was halted in March by COVID-19 with an episode and a half in the ‘can’. In early July, filming was announced by France Televisions to be resuming. The European-funded series stars David Tennant (pictured above in Channel 4 drama Deadwater Fell) as explorer Phileas Fogg. To satisfy a foolhardy wager, Fogg and his valet set off on a globe-circling journey, this time in the company of journalist Abigail Fix, played by The Crown’s Leonie Benesch. It’s been adapted by a team led by Life On Mars’ Ashley Pharoah.
A Suitable Boy (July)
Literary adapter extraordinaire Andrew Davies (Les Miserables, War & Peace, Pride And Prejudice) is back on the BBC with the first screen adaptation of Vikram Seth’s 1993 novel A Suitable Boy. Making her television debut is acclaimed feature director Mira Nair (Monsoon Wedding, Queen Of Katwe). A Suitable Boy is a coming-of-age story about university student Lata (played by Tanya Maniktala), told against the backdrop of newly independent India in 1951. The official BBC press release describes it as “a vast, panoramic tale charting the fortunes of four large families and exploring India and its rich and varied culture at a crucial point in its history.” Here’s our spoiler-free review.
Adult Material (October)
This Channel 4 drama takes on the UK porn industry and the complex relationship between sex, money and power. Written by Skins and The Smoke’s Lucy Kirkwood, the four-part miniseries stars I, Daniel Blake‘s Hayley Squires (in a role previously given to Sheridan Smith, who left the project due to conflicting commitments) as Jolene, an experienced porn actor and mother of three whose on-set friendship with a young woman leads to a complex examination of her own work and home life. With warnings of adult and sexual scenes, here’s the official trailer.
Anne (TBC)
World Productions, the makers of some of the best British drama around (Line Of Duty, Save Me, Jed Mercurio’s drama Bodyguard) are making this four-part drama for ITV. Written by novelist Kevin Sampson, who was present at Hillsborough Stadium on the tragic day ninety-six football fans died, it tells the real-life story of Anne Williams’ decades-long fight for justice for her teenage son and all the victims of the 1989 disaster. Sampson was instrumental in the Hillsborough Campaign for Justice, and conducted interviews with Williams, whose powerful story he tells here with Maxine Peake in the lead role. Bruce Goodison directs.
Baghdad Central (February)
Based on the thriller of the same name by Elliott Colla, Baghdad Central is a six-part Channel 4 commission written by House of Saddam and The Last Kingdom‘s Stephen Butchard. Set in Iraq shortly after the 2003 fall of Saddam Hussein, it’s described as “part noir detective drama, part Le Carre and part Green Zone“. With a cast led by Waleed Zuaiter (Omar, Altered Carbon), it’s the story of a quest for justice in an almost lawless society. Bertie Carvel co-stars, with Doctor Who and Tin Star‘s Alice Troughton as the lead director. All six episodes are currently available to stream on All4.
Before We Die (TBC)
Adapted from the Swedish crime thriller of the same name, Before We Die is the story of a detective who discovers that her son is acting as an undercover informant in a brutal murder investigation. It’s set in Bristol and stars Lesley Sharp, Vincent Regan and Patrick Gibson. It’s coming to Channel 4.
Belgravia (March)
Written by Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes and based on his 2016 novel of the same name, Belgravia is a six-part period drama set in 19th century London. Expect toffs and treachery in a story about society secrets on the eve of the Battle of Waterloo. Best Interests (TBC)
Jack Thorne (pictured above), the busiest screenwriter in the UK is returning to BBC One fresh from His Dark Materials with a new original four-part drama partly inspired by the real-life Charlie Gard case. It’s about a young child with a life-threatening condition whose medical team judge it in her best interests that she be allowed to die, a decision her family can’t support, and fight every step of the way. The commission was announced in July 2019 and filming was due to begin this year, but there’s no news at the time of writing as to how COVID-19 has affected the timetable on this one.
Black Narcissus (TBC)
This BBC commission was announced back in 2017 and we finally have some info on it. Adapted by Apple Tree Yard screenwriter Amanda Coe from Rumer Godden’s 1939 novel (which was previously adapted for cinema in 1947), three-part series Black Narcissus stars Gemma Arterton as Sister Clodagh in a Gothic tale of “sexual repression and forbidden love”. Set in the 1930s, it’s the story of a group of nuns who travel to Nepal to set up a branch of their order, and Sister Clodagh’s struggle with her attraction to a land agent, against the backdrop of the tragic history of a Nepalese princess. Diana Rigg, Jim Broadbent, Gina McKee and more join Arterton. Filming began in Nepal and the UK in October 2019, and back in January the BBC included it in the year’s ‘New for 2020‘ trailer.
Bloodlands (TBC)
Filming got underway in February on new BBC One crime drama Bloodlands, which stars The Missing and Cold Feet‘s James Nesbitt and takes place in Northern Ireland. In June, the Belfast Telegraph reported from producer Jed Mercurio that filming had wrapped before the COVID-19 industry shutdown and that an extended post-production period had been agreed with the BBC, so it’s hopeful that we’ll still see this one in 2020. Susan Lynch, Michael Smiley, Ian McElhinney and Lisa Dwan are among the cast. The thriller, from new writer Chris Brandon, will revolve around a cold case that holds personal significance for Nesbitt’s detective, and follows his hunt for an assassin.
It’s a Sin (Early 2021)
This 1980s-set drama (previously titled The Boys) comes from acclaimed screenwriter Russell T. Davies (A Very English Scandal, Doctor Who) and tackles the impact of AIDS on the lives of three young men across a period of ten years. It’s the story of “the epidemic, the pain of rejection and the prejudices that gay men faced throughout the decade.” Filming began on the five-part series in October 2019, with a cast including Olly Alexander, Neil Patrick Harris, Keeley Hawes, Stephen Fry, Tracy Ann Oberman and Shaun Dooley. It tells the story of Kate, a karate expert, computer genius widow mired in grief who gets an out-of-this-world chance to go back into her past and change the future. It’s part love story, part coming-of-age story, part spy thriller packed with action and 90s nostalgia.
Death Comes as the End (2021 TBC)
With Agatha Christie adaptation The Pale Horse completing Sarah Phelps’ quintet of adaptations for the BBC, it’s time for a different voice on a very different kind of Christie novel. That voice? Updates on progress have been thin on the ground but as soon as there’s news, we’ll include it here.
Flesh and Blood (February)
Filming on new ITV four-part drama Flesh And Blood got underway in June 2019, with an enviable cast led by Imelda Staunton, Stephen Rea and Russell Tovey. Staunton plays the family’s neighbour, who harbours an unhealthy obsession with the unfolding drama… Think dark wit and the unearthing of long-buried secrets. The writer-producer’s latest screen work was on Medici, also made for an Italian production company. The Sister, formerly titled Because The Night, is a four-part murder story “which exposes the quiet terror of a man trying to escape his past,” and comes inspired by Cross’ 2009 novel Burial. The psychological thriller is about Nathan, whose world is rocked when a face from the past suddenly appears on his doorstep. Russell Tovey and Bertie Carvel star. It’s due to arrive on ITV this autumn.
The Serpent (TBC)
Ripper Street writer Richard Warlow has written this original eight-part BBC drama about “the phenomenal true story of how one of the most elusive criminals of the 20th century was caught and brought to trial.” It’s the tale of Charlies Sobhraj, Interpol’s most wanted man in the 1970s following a series of murders of young Western travellers across India. Tom Shankland (Les Miserables, The City & The City) directs, and A Prophet and The Looming Tower‘s Tahar Rahim will play the lead role of Sobhraj. He’ll be joined by Jenna Coleman, Billie Howell and Ellie Bamber.
The Stranger (January)
Announced in January 2019 and arriving on Netflix a year later, The Stranger is a Harlan Coben thriller made for UK television. Nicola Shindler’s British production company RED (The Five, Safe) have once again turned a Coben novel into a twisting, turning UK series. This one’s about Adam Price (played by Richard Armitage), a man with a seemingly perfect life until a stranger appears to tell him a devastating secret. Things quickly become dark and tangled for Price and everybody around him. Read our spoiler-free series review here.
The Tail Of The Curious Mouse (TBC)
When children’s author Roald Dahl was just six years old, so the story goes, he persuaded his mother to drive him to the Lake District so he could meet his hero, writer-illustrator Beatrix Potter, the creator of Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddleduck and many more beloved children’s characters. The welcome he received, however, was less than warm. This one-off drama (Roald and Beatrix: The Tail Of The Curious Mouse) stars Dawn French as Potter and is made by the production team behind Sherlock and Dracula. Expect it to arrive this Christmas.
The Three (TBC)
Another BBC drama commission based on a book series, The Three, “an international thriller with a supernatural twist”, was announced in late 2017 but there’s been no news since then. The premise of Sarah Lotz’ trilogy sees four planes crash on the same day in four different countries, leaving three children as the miraculous survivors… Wolf Hall’s Peter Straughan was attached as adapting this eight-part drama but as yet, it’s still to appear on his IMDb credits.
Time (TBC)
Three-part prison drama Time is the latest from legendary British screenwriter Jimmy McGovern, and stars Sean Bean and Stephen Graham. Filming is due to begin in autumn 2020 in Liverpool. It’s being billed as “a visceral and high-stakes portrayal of life in the modern British penal system”, and tells the story of two men – an inmate serving time for having killed an innocent man in an accident, and a prison officer targeted by a dangerous inmate.
Tom Jones (TBC)
Praise for 2018’s Vanity Fair adaptation, scheduled opposite Bodyguard in 2018, was drowned out somewhat by the hit political thriller, but there was plenty of it, and deservingly so. Good news then, that ITV has brought screenwriter Gwyneth Hughes back to tackle another classic novel – Henry Fielding’s 1749 book Tom Jones. Following in the footsteps of the acclaimed Albert Finney-starring 1963 film, and the raucous 1997 version with Max Beasley, expect rollicking fun. The last update we had in November 2019 confirmed that Hughes was mid-writing.
Too Close (TBC)
Chernobyl‘s Emily Watson (pictured above in BBC One’s Apple Tree Yard) stars in this meaty psychological three-part thriller coming to ITV. Based on the novel of the same name written by Natalie Daniels (the pseudonym of actor-writer Clara Salaman, who’s also behind the screenplay), it’s about a forensic psychiatrist treating a patient who’s committed a heinous crime that she says she doesn’t remember. The two women become locked in a dark struggle of influence and manipulation. Watson is so far the only confirmed cast member.
Trigonometry (March)
All eight episodes of this new contemporary drama are available to stream now on BBC iPlayer. Trigonometry comes written by playwright Duncan Macmillan and actor-screenwriter Effie Woods, and provokes some fascinating questions about modern love. It’s the story of Gemma and Kieran, a couple who decide to ease the financial burden of their London flat by taking in a lodger who soon becomes entwined in their relationship. Is life as a ‘throuple’ sustainable? Could it be the way forward?
Us (September)
A four-part adaptation of David Nicholls’ novel Us is on its way to BBC One. Tom Hollander and Saskia Reeves star as Douglas and Connie, a couple whose marriage is on the verge of falling apart when the family take a long-planned holiday touring European cities. London, Amsterdam, Venice, Paris and Barcelona will provide the backdrops to this humorous, poignant relationship drama from the novelist behind One Day, Starter For Ten and Sky Atlantic’s recent adaptation of the Patrick Melrose novels. The Killing‘s Sofie Grabol and Agents Of SHIELD‘s Iain de Caestecker also star.
Vigil (TBC)
With a working title of Vigil, a new six-part thriller filmed in Scotland is on its way from the makers of Bodyguard and Line of Duty. Created by Strike‘s Tom Edge, it’s the story of the mysterious disappearance of a Scottish fishing trawler and a death on board a Trident nuclear submarine that brings the police into conflict with the Navy and British security services. Pictured above, it’s set to star Suranne Jones, Rose Leslie, Shaun Evans, Anjli Mohindra, Martin Compston, Paterson Joseph and more. Filming was forced to halt in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 industry shutdown and as yet, there’s no word on when it will resume.
Viewpoint (TBC)
A five-part thriller is coming to ITV from Rillington Place (pictured) and Manhunt writer Ed Whitmore and Fleabag director Harry Bradbeer. It’s about a police surveillance investigation in Manchester following the disappearance of a primary school teacher. A detective constable sets up a surveillance op in the flat of a local woman and watches the tight-knit community of the missing woman. ITV promises a “contemporary, character-driven murder mystery” mining the same ground as Rear Window and The Lives of Others. Pre-COVID-19, filming was due to begin in spring 2020.
When It Happens To You (TBC)
A new drama based on real-life abortion stories set in Northern Ireland – the only part of the UK where pregnancy termination remains illegal – is coming to BBC One. Written by Vanity Fair‘s Gwyneth Hughes, who travelled to Northern Ireland to meet the families who inspired the drama, When it Happens to You is produced by the makers of hard-hitting Three Girls (pictured) and will explore the experience of families and loved ones whose lives have been affected by the law in Northern Ireland.
White House Farm (January)
This six-part ITV true crime drama tells the tragic story of 1985’s White House Farm murders, the Essex killings of multiple members of the Caffell and Bamber families. Based on research, interviews and published accounts, it’s written by The Slap and Requiem’s Kris Mrksa, and directed by Little Boy Blue and Hatton Garden’s Paul Whittington. Freddie Fox plays the role of Jeremy Bamber, who is currently serving a sentence for the murders, with Stephen Graham, Alexa Davies, Mark Addy, Alfie Allen and more among the cast. Read our spoiler-filled episode reviews here.
You (TBC)
We might expect the working title of this one to change to avoid confusion with the Netflix stalker story of the same name, but as it stands, You will be an eight-part thriller coming to Sky. It’s adapted from the Zoran Drvenkar novel about a woman on the run across Europe after committing a deadly crime, pursued by a dangerous gangster and a serial killer known only as The Traveller, and is written by The Capture screenwriter Ben Chanan.
Temperance (26/?)
Pairing: Nathaniel Howe/ Female, Non-HoF Cousland
Story Summary: Nathaniel and Elissa were childhood friends, but time and distance tore them apart. In the aftermath of the Fifth Blight, and Ferelden’s Civil War, both Elissa and Nathaniel must attempt reconstruct their tattered lives. As a series of events lead them to be reunited, both are reminded of so many years ago when things were much simpler.
Chapter Summary:  Starkhaven is the worst.  Or is it? Nathaniel receives some unfortunate postage and has an encounter with an infamous Prince.
First Chapter Previous Chapter [AO3 LINK]
Starkhaven, 9:24 Dragon
Insulting was not quite strong enough of a word to describe what it was like to be squired at the age of eighteen.  It was a boy’s occupation: carrying shields, saddling horses, tending to armor, and completing whatever menial, and often embarrassing tasks a knight commanded.  Nathaniel could name a thousand things he would rather do than dress and undress that pompous arse, Rodolphe, every bloody morning and every bloody evening. One would think that being a knight would mean that a man was exceptionally well-versed in the daily tasks of living, adept at putting on and removing his own Maker-forsaken armor, but no.  That was a squire’s job, and Nathaniel loathed every single moment of it.
Starkhaven was a pleasant enough place to live, he supposed, with its glistening streets and architecture that boasted of its immense wealth.  The city, which straddled the Minanter River, spanned the expanse of an entire valley, surrounded at the far edges by towering walls and a mountainous terrain. Nowhere in Ferelden compared in cleanliness or opulence.  Still, Nathaniel found himself missing home. Starkhaven’s climate was too forgiving, with its mild winters and occasional rain showers. There were not enough dogs or fur-lined, grim-faced people. There was no Liss.
That was his problem, wasn’t it? He should have been thrilled to be out from under Father’s thumb, happy to be in a new country with nice weather and the chance to learn new things. As humiliating as his daily tasks were, it was nothing compared to living at home with Father.  He should have been grateful for his newfound freedom, yet his separation from Liss was still an open, gaping wound that wouldn't heal.
His plan had been to pretend she no longer existed, to throw himself into his training entirely, to meet new people, to forget about her.  It was supposed to be simple, and it would have been, had she not sent that damn letter. She loved him, and it made everything difficult. How dare she say such important things in a letter a year after he needed to hear it?  She complicated everything and he’d chosen to be angry about it, because that was easier than feeling how he actually felt. He had stuffed the letter in the top drawer of his dresser, slammed it shut, and it remained there ever since.
Nathaniel stood by the dresser, staring at the drawer in question and tracing the brass knob with his fingertips .  Who was he trying to convince, anyway? It wasn’t as if hiding the letter under a pile of socks made him any less aware of its presence.  Every single day, he bit back the urge to read it again, to sit down and write out a response to her. Every day he told himself that it was for the best that he didn’t.  The last thing he wanted was for Liss to waste her time waiting for him to return when he could make no promises that he would. He desperately longed for her to be happy, even if he couldn’t be there to see it.  To write to her, to confess his feelings to her would be a cruel extension of a childish fantasy. They would never be together, and he had to believe that.
Still, he tugged at the knob, sliding the drawer open so that he could pull out the small envelope with his name on it, written in Liss’ elegant swirls of black ink.  His chest tightened like a vice just looking at it. It tightened again as the door to his room swung open with such force that it slammed against the wall.
“Howe,” chirped the young man standing in the doorway.  His toothy grin sat on a freckled face, framed by coppery red locks. “What’re you still doing up here, lazy arse.”
“Kenric! There is this thing called ‘knocking,’” Nathaniel spat, “You should try it some time.”
“It’s my room, too, you know.”
“I am well aware, Ben,” he sighed, “I listen to you snore every night.”
Benedict Kenric was the third son of some minor lord in Starkhaven, and he’d been squired at the same time as Nathaniel, despite being four years younger.  They had been roommates since the first day, and he got onto every last one of Nathaniel’s nerves. He was kind, with boundless energy and enthusiasm, but he was nosy and undisciplined.  It was difficult not to slap him from time to time.
Ben entered the room proudly and closed the door, leaning against the wall next to the dresser as he glanced between Nathaniel’s face and the letter in his hand.
“Don’t,” Nathaniel warned, returning the letter to the drawer and shutting it forcefully, “I know what you are going to say, and… just don’t.”
“What?  You mean you can’t handle a little prodding about that Fereldan lass of yours?”  Ben’s grin spread more widely across his face. “She must be something else, huh?”
“I don’t want to talk about it,” he said, words clipped.
“Well, if you don’t want to talk about it, then I’m sure you wouldn’t be interested in this,” Ben drawled sarcastically, pulling a small envelope from his coat and waving it in front of Nathaniel’s face. It was difficult to make out what the writing said due to all of the movement, but he would recognize Liss’ handwriting anywhere.
Nathaniel snatched the envelope from Ben’s hands so that he could see it more clearly.  It was addressed to him, and his pulse jumped. She’d written to him again, even though he had not replied.
“Where did you get this?”
“Came with a bird this morning,” Ben answered, lifting his shoulders into an awkward shrug, “Ravenmaster told me to give it to you.”
“Oh.  Right.” He looked down to the envelope in his hand and then back up to the copper-haired boy in front of him.  “Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it, Nate,” Ben said without an ounce of resentment for the way Nathaniel had been speaking to him.  He motioned to the door with his thumb. “I’ll leave you to it.”
“Yes.” Nathaniel nodded, eyes fixed on the letter in his hand as he moved to sit down on the edge of his bed. “I will see you at the sparring ring in a bit.”
“Don’t take too long.  You know how Rodolphe gets about punctuality.”
“Rodolphe can bite me,” Nathaniel muttered under his breath, flinching when the other boy cackled. “Don’t tell him I said that.”
“You have my word,” Ben said, placing his hand over his heart solemnly before exiting the room, closing the door behind him.
It wasn’t until Nathaniel attempted to open the letter that he realized his hands were shaking.  His heart pounded behind his ears and he fought stubbornly to keep the tears that welled in his eyes from falling.  Andraste’s blood, he needed to hold it together. Breaking the wax seal that bore the letter “C” surrounded by a wreath of laurel branches, he pulled out the folded piece of parchment inside.
Dear Nate,
I hope this letter finds you happy and well in Starkhaven.  If I am honest, I was rather shocked and disappointed that you never responded to my last letter.  Papa tells me that you are probably just too busy to write. Fergus says that you are being, to use his exact words, “a little shit head.”  I am not certain how to feel about it. After speaking to Delilah, who has also not heard from you since you left, I decided that I am — at the very least— worried about you.
I understand if you chose not to answer me because of the things I said the last time I wrote.  It was a lot, and after I sent it off, I immediately regretted it. Nothing has changed about how I feel, but I shouldn’t have told you in writing.  You deserve to hear those words in person. You know me: impatient and thoughtless as ever. I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable.
What I don’t understand is you not writing to your sister.  She and your brother are alone with your father now, and Tom isn’t handling it well.  Delilah is worried about him, and you, and you should really write to her. She misses you.
My family and I miss you, too.  It is wild, but last year when I wrote to you, Fergus and Oriana were just getting married, and now they have a baby.  I have a nephew! His name is Oren, and Nate, he is the most adorable little baby in the entire world. (Thankfully, he took after Oriana, so everyone is thrilled about that.)  You should have seen Fergus. He was a blubbering mess. He is going to be such a good father, I can tell. As for Aunt Liss? Well, I intend to spoil little Oren until he is completely rotten.
I wish you could meet him.
Your father has been insufferable since you left.  Any chance he has to make it known that Bryce Cousland’s “little spitfire,” is still “unattached,” he takes it.  If I ever once implied that I wanted Rendon Howe to be my personal matchmaker, I take it back. I swear to the Maker, I take it back.  I’m sure you don’t find this as hilarious as I do, but just know, I’m laughing for the both of us.
You also won’t find this funny either, but since you haven’t spoken with anyone back here in Ferelden, I feel like I need to tell you:  Ever since we danced at Fergus’ engagement festival, rumors have been spreading like the Blight. Did you know that my parents have been hiding my secret, illegitimate pregnancy with your bastard child?  That’s why you were sent away, and I’m not seeing any suitors. That’s one of the tame ones! At first I was bothered by them all, but I’ve started to use them as jokes at parties. Made King Maric snort wine out his nose with one of them.
Anyway, look at me rambling.  I have so many things tucked away in my head to say, so many things I want to tell you.  I miss our talks. I miss holding your hand. I am jealous of Starkhaven for getting to be near you. Maker, I’m being such a sap. I know. I’m sorry.
I still love you.  One ignored letter changes nothing.  If you want me to stop, you’ll have to write and tell me so.
Love, Liss
Tears dropped from Nathaniel’s eyes and onto the parchment, and he reached up to wipe them away with his sleeve. Damn Liss and her letters that tore down every last inch of the wall he’d been building over the past two years. Though he knew she did not mean it, each of her words was a twisted knife into an already open wound, reminding him that it was, in fact, still there.
Frustrated with himself, he folded the letter, stuffed it back into its envelope, and tossed it into the dresser with the other letter.  He slammed the drawer shut, grabbed his archery gear, and headed outside to the range. He still had an hour before his actual training began, and he needed to clear his head in the best way he knew how.  The only way he knew how.
Archery required a high degree of concentration and bodily awareness, things which made it an ideal distraction from any sort of stress or emotional turmoil.  It was impossible to hurt so deeply while he minded his posture and attempted to gain control over his breath, as he noted the force and direction of the wind, and as he nocked and released arrow after arrow.  After so many years of practice, the motions came as naturally as breathing. If he closed his eyes, he could almost convince himself he was back at home.
Something flying past his face snapped him back to Starhaven, just in time to see an arrow split one of his own arrows in half, and sink into the target.  Nathaniel snapped his head in the direction from which the projectile came. A young man, around his age, stood several feet behind him wearing a smug smile across his face.  He had dark skin and dark hair that sat in direct contrast to his bright, piercing blue eyes. His armor, his bow, everything was gilded, and it was no stretch to assume that Nathaniel was looking at one of the Vael princes.
“You are a skilled archer,” the prince said genially, taking several steps toward Nathaniel.
“Not as skilled as you, Your Highness,” Nathaniel mumbled dispassionately, attempting to hide his annoyance over the ruined arrow.
“Ah, so you know who I am, then?”  To his credit, the man looked genuinely surprised. “What gave me away?”
“The gold.” Nathaniel remarked.  And the arrogance. He wouldn’t say such things allowed, but every royal person he’d ever met held some degree of arrogance in their posture, the way they spoke. It was unintentional, and likely the result of being worshipped from the time they were born. Still, it grated on Nathaniel’s nerves.
The prince laughed, and extended a hand to Nathaniel. An odd gesture for royalty, but Nathaniel shook it nonetheless. “It appears I am at a disadvantage.  I am Sebastian Vael, youngest prince of Starkhaven, and an eternal thorn in my father’s side. Who are you?”
“I am Nathaniel,” he replied, his own name like cotton in his mouth, “Howe.”
“You are the Howe that was squired a year ago,” Sebastian asked, raising his eyebrows, “I have to say, I was expecting someone less... competent.”
“How do you know I’m not,” Nathaniel joked.
“Incompetent noble sons do not carry themselves as you do,” Sebastian explained, a sad smile quirking up at the corners of his mouth as his eyes seemed to focus on something off in the distance. He shook his head and brought his gaze back to meet Nathaniel’s.  “Not to mention, you are damn good with a bow. Did I see you shooting with both hands?”
“I… yes,” he spluttered, “Thank you.”
“I haven’t been able to do that no matter how hard I try.  Impressive.”
An awkward silence filled the air between them before Nathaniel dared to speak again.  “Pardon my frankness, but you are an unusual prince.”
Another laugh.  “‘Unusual’ is a kind way to put it.  I am usually referred to as self-indulgent, shallow, vain, lecherous, unrefined, ill-mannered, and so on.  My father’s personal favorite is ‘useless.’”
The sting of the prince’s relatable words caught Nathaniel off guard, and he flinched before snorting out a laugh.  “My father likes that one, too.”
Sebastian’s face fell into a somber expression. “I would rather be useless than be what my father wishes me to be.”
Though he had never thought about it before, Nathaniel felt the same.  Why had he worked so hard to earn his father’s respect, when he did not want to be what his father found respectable.  He would rather be himself, his father be damned.
“Anyway,” Sebastian said, clapping Nathaniel on the shoulder, “I have to go.  Some boring something with some Revered Mother. It was nice to meet you, Nathaniel.  We should speak again sometime. We could get a pint and complain about our fathers some more, yes?”
Nathaniel smiled and nodded. “I would like that, Your Highness.”
“Please, none of that,” the other man said as he walked away, “Just call me Sebastian. It’s more fitting.”
Nathaniel watched as Sebastian sauntered away, gait still so proud despite his talk.  He found himself a bit enamored with the prince, or at least the idea of him. He was attractive, certainly, and it was rare to find someone with whom he had so much in common.  It was even rarer to meet someone who understood his complaints with his father. He shook his head. No. A deep breath. He was just sad, lonely, frustrated even. He would not cover up his heartache with ridiculous infatuation.  Besides, he could not even be sure that Sebastian would be open to the idea of being with another man.
Maker. What was wrong with him? This was completely out of character, wasn’t it?  Or had it simply been hidden behind his dedication to Liss for so long that he had never experienced what it was like to be attracted to someone else?  Did this mean he was getting better? He certainly hoped so. He could not continue on forever with a seeping hole in his chest. He was nowhere near ready to pursue anything with anyone, let alone a prince, but at least he had some idea that it might be possible.
He walked forward to the target and removed the arrows, including Sebastians, which he placed in his quiver.  A voice rang out behind him, causing his back to stiffen.
“I see you finally met Prince Sebastian.” It was Rodolphe’s booming voice that called out. “Poor lad.  He’s been handed everything he’s ever wanted from the moment he was born, and he’s thrown it all back in his parents’ faces.”
Nathaniel cleared his throat and turned to face Rodolphe. “He seems like a good man, Ser.”
“He is,” Rodolphe admitted, with a touch of affection in his voice, “ I just wish he’d act like it.  He is going to get himself into a situation he will not be able to weasel out of.”
He’d never heard the knight be so open and it was clear he cared for Sebastian, so he pressed for more information. “Like what, Ser?”
“The boy has slept with half of Starkhaven.  He’s a deviant.”
“Sounds like he knows how to have a good time.”
“Don’t get any ideas, Nathaniel,” Rodolphe scolded, unable to sense the sarcasm behind Nathaniel’s words, “Your honor is mine.”
“I shall endeavor not to besmirch it, Ser.”
There was a pause as Rodolphe shook the smile from his face, clearly bothered by the lapse of his stern, pompous exterior.  It was good to see that he had a softer side to him. He looked down at Nathaniel’s bow and then out to the target.
“I know that you favor ranged weapons, but bows are useless in melee combat,” he stated, grasping for something to criticize, “So they are useless for a knight.”
“Not necessarily,” Nathaniel replied, pulling Sebastian’s arrow from the quiver, nocking, and releasing.
“Oh?”
Nathaniel shot another arrow, more rapidly than the first.  “You just have to be faster than your opponent.”
“And if you are not?”
Nathaniel’s lips quirked up into a grin as he aimed his arrow precisely, releasing it so that it split the prince’s arrow in half, before turning and facing Rodolphe.  “Well, Ser, a bow works as well as any other blunt object if you swing it hard enough.”
Rodolphe appeared to stifle a chuckle, raising his eyebrows instead.  “That mouth of yours is going to get you into trouble.”
Drawing his shoulders up into a shrug, Nathaniel said, “If I am going to get into trouble, I would rather it be for speaking my mind, than for nothing at all.”
Rodolphe met his gaze and nodded knowingly.  Perhaps he was not such a pompous arse after all.
So I went to see Rise of Skywalker...
Generally, I liked the movie. Spoilers and musing under the cut.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience - for me certainly more than TLJ. I would put it as a best Sequel trilogy movie, but I must do a complete rewatch later to judge that more accurately.
What I liked:
- We finally get OT3 shenanigans! Finn, Poe and Rey are damn delightful together and its a shame we didnt get it sooner.
- Droids and Chewie gets some love - while they felt like props in previous movies, they actually made a difference now, especially C3PO and Chewie had nice moments.
- Leia’s farewell. If Carrie Fisher survived, we would get a very different movie. If she was alive, such handling of her character would piss me off. But knowing what the director and crew had to work around, the result is stunning. I did cry when she died and it felt appropriate.
- The rebellion storyline - worked much better than the one in TLJ, even if it was a bit cheesy at times. I especially loved Poe’s speech.
- Lando - they didn’t do my boy dirty!
- Rey and Ben/Kylo’s storyline. To my surprise, I very much enjoyed that. I don’t ship Reylo, but seeing Ben and Rey together at the end... yeah, I can def. see why people ship them and I wouldn’t mind reading few fics where he survives.
- The dead people: Both ghosts of Luke and Han had amazing scenes. I was curious whether we would see ghosts of other people but it made sense we didnt - someone like Hayden Christiensen suddenly appearing would have been quite jarring. They handled it just by using voices, which was amazing touch. (even if i had to google who was talking, my ears can’t really recognize that. I only gathered one was yoda during the movie.)
- The “who is Rey” reveal - I admit I didn’t expect her to be that, but it tied neatly to the topics of the movies and especially tied with ending... *chef¨s kiss*
- The last scene - yeah, I cried. Sue me.
- Hux - I mean, that was hilarious and ironic as hell.
- the flashback scene with Luke and Leia. It was kinda uncanny valley, but i still would love to see them in a movie anyway...
What I didn’t like:
- the heteronormativity - yeah, i didn’t expect Finn/Poe to happen, because Disney are cowards. But using two new ladies as “potential” love interests? ugh. rude. At least no kissing happened. Poe is still disaster bi in my heart.
- Rose being sidelined - I get there wasn’t that much room, but I felt she was “replaced” by the new former stromtrooper lady. :( I mean, new characters are cool, but still...
- the whole Palpatine storyline could have used better explanation, imho.
What made me hella sad:
- that the trilogy would be much better if they planned stuff beforehand. The foreshadowing, the usage of characters, etc, would be much better if they knew what they were doing. :(
- the thought of possible movie if Carrie was alive. RIP our princess and general.
I might get more critical on subsequent rewatches, but apart from the ye olde heteronormativity, there wasn’t anything really jarring? I know some people complain about the usage of Force but most of the stuff is either “we seen it before” or “it makes sense force can do that”. And that its cheesy/fairy taley... I mean, it Star Wars. That means rescues at the last moments, improbable coincidences, visions and weird Force shit.
Overall, I am content. Bring forth the FICS!
