Ebstein Anomaly of the heart: a 2D echocardiogram in 4 chamber view showing atrialized right ventricle.
Patient was a 20 year old labourer who presented to us with swelling of feet, bluish discoloration of the entire body (cyanosis) and clubbed fingers.
Auscultation revealed an early systolic murmur at tricuspid area and gallop rhythm ( S3 )
Leading cause of Ebstein anomaly is maternal history of lithium intake!

Sharing a scary vulnerable post on Instagram, eep.
When I post to my page, I always wonder: how many of my co-workers follow my page? How many of my "enemies" know about this? Do my patients ever find me and recognize me as their treating physician?

I found out yesterday that I passed my exam so it’s onto third year I guess? I just about got used to introducing myself as a second year as well! I’ve (very) slowly started some content from third year, only because it would be the things that I would have not covered prior to my important exam in January. But I’m definitely not frantic over it, I’m taking the time to do the things I wouldn’t usually been able to do like lots of embroidery and other creative projects. It’s my birthday in a few days and it’s weird to think I’m about to be in my 20s.

So I am in love with courses that I take online on these quarantine days. And I love studying online because I don’t spend time to get to the university.

Ophthalmology ✅ | G’day! I hope everyone’s doing well & is safe! We’ve haven’t been in contact much lately, so here’s an update: I completed my Sem 5 of Med School not too long ago, and currently am in my 2nd Posting of Sem 6. Definitely, a little hectic and a little too tired. But, I’m pulling through. Also, have been spending a lot of time focusing on my health and wellbeing, especially in times like this. And, I hope everyone is too!

It’s been a very interesting past 9 weeks on O&G and it’s crazy to have been able to meet the doctor who delivered me almost 21 years ago! My next rotation is Mental Health so I’m trying to get as much medsoc and life admin stuff done before I resume placement next week :-)
Don’t forget to follow me on my instagram @tiffstudies where I post more regular (ish) updates on my 4th year medical school life!
Take care and happy studying!

14/03/2020; 41/100 days of productivity with @studiesandcaffeine :
I was lazy with studying during the week, so I’m having a bit of a backlog. This week was to do with renal medicine, so things like ckd, transplantation, dialysis, glomerular diseases, and urinary tract infections. Today I wrote my notes on glomerular diseases and uti. I wrote my reflection on my scc session from Thursday, where we did some observation drawing, and then sculpting with plaster, which I was terrible at. My gp tutor wants us to write an essay about covid-19 and its impact on the population, number of cases and mortality, and the pressures on healthcare etc, so in order to do that I’m going to be forming some sort of account of what has happened so far each day. It’s a little scary looking at the statistics and the way it has spread right around the world, but from a medical student perspective, it’s been interesting to see the impact of the virus both in healthcare and in public domain.
