the greek students
seeing the roots of modern life in antiquity
a deck of flashcards, learning the unfamiliar words by heart
quiet afternoons spent in museums
attention to detail and impeccable grammar
socratic dialogues and fast-paced conversations
fragments of ancient pottery, beautiful in their intricacy
perking up when greek letters show up in your math or science classes
a rich vocabulary
reading the works of long-dead philosophers, applying their ideas to the present
stories passed down for thousands of years, still as poignant as if they'd been written yesterday
flaky spanakopita that melts on your tongue
recognizing where mythology and history overlap
reciting poetry until the words flow from your mouth
tracing the letters on an ancient scroll
warming your face under the rays of a mediterranean sun
wondering about the lives of those who came before you
the satisfaction of translating a sentence without looking up any of the words
a pantheon of gods, learning their stories by heart
arguing over the best translations of the Iliad and Odyssey
recognizing greek roots in words you use every day
copying the alphabet until its letters are as familiar to you as those of your native tongue

A little over a month left to finish my BA thesis, so in reality, a few weeks to get a decent product to send to my friends to read over… I am determined to actually have a first draft at the end of the week (utopian) because I really want some space to breathe before the next semester sweeps me up again.
Roughly one third written - I‘m testing if „study with me“ videos help me stay productive long term to meet my goal 😮💨

38/100: i got a lot of work done today! i finished half of my assignments due this week (one of which was a 750 word paper), and i got about halfway through my write up due next tuesday. i have a sneaking suspicion i'm going to be spending a lot of time between starbucks and the library this week

Day 96 • 100 Days of Productivity
In the home stretch for the semester! Just have two weeks left and then i'm off for break and I don't have to worry about any school work until august, and then I'm only taking two classes instead of the 6 i'm taking now. I'm very tired but I'm gonna push through it, I know I can do it. Honestly the only final that I'm worried about is my ITE Principles of Information Systems class, but I got a 100% on my database project and my professor posted a study sheet so I think I'll be fine. I want to start studying sooner than I did for our midterm because I only got a 75% on that. Other than that I'm all good. I can't wait to sleep lol.

study diary —
I completely forgot to post yesterday - it was finally sunny outside and I took my calculus 3 final exam!
It went amazing! I was absolutely flabbergasted when I got my score today. I did not feel confident at all while I was working through review.
I am so happy to have calc off of my plate. Now I just have my physics final tomorrow, and then I’m done for the semester!
Today I’ve been working on physics review - nothing too fancy. I also watched an HST livestream which was very interesting!
The end is so close!!

The last few days have been quite busy and I didn't have the time or energy to continue working as I had planned. So, the only task I set myself today was to finish the book so I could start revisions and clean up my notes... I didn't quite manage but I'll manage the rest tomorrow 🪴
