It's Been A While... And Here Is Why!

Aside from the usual life stuff, there has been quite a bit of progress with the Fallout: Wayward Son fan film that I have written, currently producing, and will be acting in.

Thanks to a tip from a friend who worked there years ago, I was able to secure a filming location for the teaser trailer, at an abandoned correctional facility!

Had a blast with the crew! Sure, the movie isn't remotely close to being completed, but the fact that we have filmed anything at all for this project is already a huge win and a dream come true to me, as we all take one step closer to bringing this idea to life!

Delgado (the director and good friend of mine) and I then took a trip out to Tampa to visit Caitlin (@bassclef_cosplay on Instagram) and get some shots of her jaw-dropping Deathclaw cosplay!

So yeah, it's been a wild past few months, with plenty of ups and downs, but all of this has made it pretty much worth it!

BIG News For Fallout Fans!

"What is Fallout: Wayward Son?" You might ask.

It's a Fallout Live-Action Fan Film made by fans of the series, old and new (not so much Fallout 76... you know what you did!).

The story takes place in 2290, 3 years after the events of Fallout 4, and follows a wanted Child Of Atom that has been traveling all over the Wasteland, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake. A bounty of 200,000 caps has been placed on his head, with the last known location placing him in Miami, Florida. Rumors have already spread that "The Messiah" is hoping to use one of the last remaining active nukes, located at the silo in the heart of the Deadlands.

News travels fast throughtout Wasteland, attracting every elite bounty hunter, and anyone fortunate enough to catch one of the secret broadcasts. Fate, or misfortune, has brought a group of bounty hunters together, eager to score the payoff of a lifetime, and maybe save the Wasteland in the process. First, they'll need to survive the gangs, elements, and even each other, if they have any hope of stopping the Child of Atom who is hellbent on scorching the land in a wave of atomic fire.

The People Involved

Almost everyone involved in this project has extensive experience in filmmaking, acting, etc. but EVERYONE is passionate about the story being told, and collectively will do everything possible to ensure that this fan film has the level of quality that they all can be proud of, and that fans will be talking about for a long time (hopefully in a good way).

This is Steven Rodriguez AKA @S15Costuming on Instagram. He is a costume/prop designer, cosplayer, and one of the bounty hunters of Fallout: Wayward Son. His character will be a bounty hunter/vault dweller from New Vegas.

That's right! We have a Deathclaw! This is just a preview of things to come, and nowhere near completed, as Caitlan Gonzalez works hard to bring every Wastelander's nightmare to life!

Anthony (yours truly) AKA @ReadyComicsRoll on Instagram, is trying to be the next RZA by being a writer, producer, and actor. I will be playing the bounty hunter/vault dweller from the Capital Wasteland. No, I'm not the main character, my hubris is not that out-of-control.

Delgado AKA @Geekvised on Instagram is the film's director and other producer. Bringing countless years of talent and experience to the film, it wouldn't be the same without him.

There are many other actors and members of the crew we can't wait to share, but we'll wait until they are ready. Also, Steven and I are the only vault dwellers out of the group of bounty hunters. The others consist of a Overboss of an all-woman Raider group, a ghoul from Miami, since before the bombs dropped, and a slave from The Pitt who is trying to earn his freedom and save his family.

Still Alive, Barely Kicking

I feel that I owed anyone and everyone who followed me some kind of explination as to where the hell I've been and what I've been up to.

Long and short of it, life has been kicking my ass, but I keep managing to get back up again. Work, being a good husband and father, and running ReadyComicsRoll has left me with little to no free time, but I've been able to at least come up with a few new project ideas, and even complete some smaller ones.

First off, I'm writing/producing/acting (I will not be the main protagonist) in a Fallout fan film, that already has most of the crew (makeup, fight choreographer, set design, etc.) ready to go. The plan is to shoot the teaser trailer by the end of the year, and hopefully get the funding needed to start production next year. I sadly can't share more details than that.

As for any Marvel or symbiote related content, that has been placed on hold for the time being, but I will share some art that the ever-talented @barkthedog created for it. I give you a bust of Aiden Darrow AKA Ruin!

I also created a new cosplay of my Mii Brawler for Super Smash Bros, that isn't 100% completed yet, but should be ready in time for Megacon.

And most recently I got caught up in the madness of Snapchat, on behalf of ReadyComicsRoll, only to discover something about myself. With the new Snapchat girl filter, I've been told be numerous people that I make a better looking woman than a man, and that is both such a nice compliment and crushing blow to my self-esteem at the same time. Even my wife said she would leave me for... well, me.

So there you have it. I am alive, albiet not so well, but I have been busy working on many a thing with what little free time I do have available, and can't wait to show you all of it, once it's all completed! Thanks for sticking around this long!

Someone Fill Me In On The Donny Cates Drama

I've been a long-time Venom fan, ever since I was 5 years old (currently 31), and there have certainly been ups and downs when it comes to storylines, writers, and artists tied to Venom, but I've yet to see as much hate towards a Venom writer as I have with Donny Cates.

Now the current Venom run, in my opinion, has been a very entertaining one, overall. Wasn't keen on how it started, save for some gorgeous fight scenes, but it has grown on me over time. It expands on existing lore, addresses some concerns, and the Venom/Eddie relationship is still very much there (The "I love you" as the Venom symbiote loses a part of itself), although not so in-your-face as the short run just before this.

I'm glad there are a lot of new Venom fans, thanks to the movie, and I will never deny nor take issue with Eddie and the Venom symbiote being a couple (although I would argue their relationship is an asexual one, and that the symbiote, as most klyntar are, is nonbinary or chooses to identify as male), as the comics have made that quite clear, especially the short series I mentioned before, right before Cates took over.

I haven't followed every post that Donny Cates makes on Twitter, but I haven't seen anything that paints him as homophobic. I have, however, seen people get very nasty with him in regards to his current run, and that sometimes lashs out with the same level of *VENOM* (sorry, had to) spewed at him. For that, he is also in the wrong, but not enough for me to see people calling for his departure from the comic, *or worse*.

I get it, some of us REALLY love Venom (has been and will always be my favorite comic character of all time, ESPECIALLY Eddie + Venom symbiote). Eddie and the symbiote make for not only a great character, but also a great couple; because despite their flawed, and oftentimes abusive relationship in the past, each has grown over time, due to learning from their experiences, and from the help of those around them (such as Flash Thompson, also referenced and addressed in the current run).

I'm not really sure where else I was going with this, other than everyone has the right to not like something (such as Venom's current run), the same as someone absolutely has the right to like what others don't. Being vocal about your dislike of something is also 100% okay, as long as you're not being nasty or hateful about it, or flat-out attacking the writer/artist/creator. On that same note, being the writer/artist/creator of something doesn't give you the right to be a dick either, even if it's only just in reaction to such negativity, or worse.

So if there is something far greater than lashing out at those that are attacking him (that is still wrong), please let me know, because I still don't understand all of this anger.

Also, Iban Coello draws Eddie + Venom the best. As all the cool kids say "Don't @ me".

I TOLD YOU ALL THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN!

One day I would cosplay as Fallout!Anthony, and that day is fast approaching, as I will be showing up to Holiday Matsuri as the wandering vault dweller from Vault 430! There is also going to be a group photo/event on Saturday, so if you're going and will be doing a Fallout cosplay, LET ME KNOW!

To celebrate, here are some progress pictures, as I make some slight changes to the character design to fit the real world/cosplay!

Before all hell breaks loose.

"That's the tea..."

Of course it didn't work out as well as I had hoped, as tea dying works much better on lighter colors.

Smeared black acrylic paint all over, tossed some dry dirt I collected from the railroad tracks near my job, slapped it with some baby powder annnnnd BOOM! Wasteland ready!

Did the same for pants, Santa hat, tool belt, combat boots, and wearable lights.

All that is left now is to 3D print the Pipboy 3000, and build the sawed-off shotgun from scratch (out of EVA foam and PVC pipe). Thankfully I found a decent enough picture to enlarge and create a template with, for the main body + stock.

RIP To The Man, The Myth, The Legend - Stan Lee

I only just saw the news before writing this, and I never thought I’d see the death of someone outside of my own family hit me as hard as this one did.

I never was fortunate enough to get to meet Stan Lee in person, either due to schedule conflicts and/or not having the money that cons expect to even get near him. That, however, doesn’t change how I feel, or the impact that man had on my life, along with countless others.

Stan Lee was a lot of things to a lot of people, but the one thing we can all say about him is that he was a man of the people, who did his best to make everyone feel welcome, and to fight against the injustices of this world, in the best way he knew how...

Each of his heroes exemplified the best that each of us has to offer, regardless of how different we may be from one another. Each teaching us a different lesson and inspiring us to dream of more, fight for what is right, and raising us ever higher, to one day reach our own vision.

Such creations, like the X-Men and Black Panther, also were meant to help marginalized groups be a part of such an amazing world of fantasy, when many others would refuse to let them, even to this day.

The world is lesser without him, but his legacy, the impact his words and creations have on us all, remain.

Without him, I’d personally be without Spider-Man and, by extension, my favorite character - Venom, among many other heroes. I’d be without one of the greatest mottos I try to live by “With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility”.

I want to take this moment to thank Stan Lee, and all of the other legends lost, like Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, for everything they have done for us True Believers.

EXCELSIOR!

Also, wanted to share my favorite Stan Lee cameo of all time. Something to put a smile on all our faces, when many of us just want to cry.

We Sorry To Interrupt Your Regularly Scheduled Fandom Goodness...

...but I just wanted to take this moment to discuss something VERY important.

Yes, politics are bullshit and more often than not those who are much more well off than others are the ones that benefit from whatever may be proposed at the time, typically at the cost of those less fortunate.

Also, the two-party system in itself is designed in a way to be divisive, having people fiercely loyal to a given side, attacking one another, rather than coming together as one to address the real issues.

That being said, as much as I dislike politics in general, the midterms are THE MOST important time to vote. I've always said this and always will. THIS is when some level of change can actually happen, if more people do their part.

I'm a man of my word, and I lead by example. Not only did I vote, but I did it EARLY!

I encourage everyone, who hasn't done so already, to vote by November 6th. You can do it in person, and most areas even allow you to do it by mail (although it may be too late for that by now), so there are ways to get this done!

Setting The Marvel/Symbiote OC Stage

In the process of writing up a timeline for Aiden/Ruin and those close to him, that fits perfectly into the Earth-616 comic universe, without breaking continuity.

Will also detail how Marcus joined S.H.I.E.L.D., when Gabriela experienced Terrigenesis that unlocked her Inhuman abilities, how Mai became a full-time Journalist for the Daily Bugle, and so on.

It will also work as a great starting point for anyone with a symbiote/klyntar oc that is unsure of how to work them into the main comic continuity, as the Venomized event creates a perfect opportunity to provide a "canon" origin for them.

Expect some cameos sprinkled in there, as these OCs have had minor interactions with such heroes and villains, such as Spider-Man, Venom, Carnage, Wilson Fisk, Flash Thompson/Agent Venom, Nick Fury, Captain America, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Royal Family (Black Bolt, Medusa, Lockjaw, etc.), and more.

I hope people find it as entertaining to read as this has been fun to write. Will also feature some art and OCs from @barkthedog as well!
