my favorite relationship is the one between humans and dandelions. in childhood we instinctively blow on its little fuzzy seed carriers. we take the role of the wind, we help the dandelions in a crucial part of their lives, and in return we get a wish and a moment of happiness. this is how nature is meant to work. we are just as unaware of our goodness as the honey bees are, pollinating the flowersÂ
Welcome to the family, @thebichristianâ! Iâm so frickin proud of you!Â
Iâm so sorry you were hurt! Thatâs not what the Catholic Church teaches - we are not supposed to hurt people with our zeal. No hurting people with how you speak politically, guys! Fr. Mike Schmitz is the best Iâve ever seen at speaking about LGBT stuff in a genuinely Catholic way and at broaching the Us vs. Them phenomenon that happens. I highly highly highly recommend this talk: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWZ171V0wEQ
I watched it before I realized I was technically lgbt. It was lovely, it made me cry. ANYWHO
Iâm a âcradle Catholicâ, but IÂ studied my faith and made it something personal, so Iâm not Catholic because of my parents, if that makes sense?
My parents and my friendsâ parents are pretty âpolitically Catholicâ if that makes sense. (Because people have opinions, sometimes that forms their faith instead of the other way around.) Because of this, I am not âoutâ to my parents, yet.
It hurts and Iâm sorry you experienced that from people in our Church.
Sorry about my awkward flailing. I get excited when people convert - yaâll are so cool and brave. * hugs *
As an aside: It is definitely weird being Catholic when June rolls around. I happen to just like rainbows, always have, so it feels weird to buy rainbow stuff during pride month because of my scrupulosity popping up. âThis is wrong, youâre supporting things that go against your ethical sense, etc.â Meh. I just want shiny colors. I just happen to be gay, stop assummmminngggg ppl
as a new Catholic, this pride month has been very disheartening for me.
Seeing the people I once looked up to and supported me throughout my conversion just bashing everything I stand for hurts. Iâve unfortunately seen so many posts from Catholic influencers saying that âPride is not something to be celebrated by Catholicsâ or âTake back the rainbowâ and itâs rough.
And then their justification for this rhetoric is the Catechism, which contains all that the Catholic Church teaches, and some passages from the Bible. And as a new Catholic especially, I canât dare to question that, or else Iâm a heretic. Iâve already gotten heat from other Catholics for voting for Biden this fall, saying that âhe doesnât align with Catholic values.â
I contemplated converting for years, and believed it was the right decision. A year later, Iâm now questioning what I got myself into. Iâm hurting seeing Catholics discredit/bash pride and showing no support for the LGBT community. Iâm also hurt by Catholics acting like you have to vote a certain way, lean a certain way, and for government officials, push for policies on the basis of Catholic teaching in order to continue to be Catholic.
hm. "back in the day" for me was just when I was too young to have a phone and get the movie app. and then i was a teenager and used both newspaper and app.
this has 100% been talked about before but younger members of the lgbt community (especially on tumblr) NEED to understand that âgay panicâ doesnât mean âoh no iâm a teen panicking because i might be gayâ it means âliteral legal defense used in cases where a person has murdered someone upon finding out they were gayâ
ahhhhhhhhhhhhh adulting
I knew most of these, but proceed to be dangerous, anyway.
Thank you for reminding me /pos
Safety Tips You May Not Know
- A sharp knife is safer than a dull knife, because a dull knife is more likely to jump out of your intended cut, and youâll be using more pressure with it when it does
- Never wear gloves while operating power tools. If they get caught in a spinning shaft or sawblade, itâs Bad News for your fingers.
- If a GFCI outlet (the kind with âtestâ and âresetâ buttons often found in bathrooms, looks like this) trips, figure out why before resetting it. Often it will be because something connected to it is wet or shorting out.
- Learn where the circuit breaker box is in your home and which switches control which lights/outlets/appliances. Turn off the power if you need to work on anything electrical where you could come into contact with live wires, including any work on power outlets or light switches.
- If you get bitten by an animal or a human and it breaks the skin even a tiny bit, you need medical attention. Even if the wound looks minor and the animalâs had rabies shots, mouths contain horrible bacteria. (This is especially true for cats. They have small teeth so people think âthis doesnât need stitches, Iâll just bandage it up and deal with it at home,â and then they get an infection.)
- If paper, fabric, or anything else that can act as a wick gets into a candle or gets soaked with candle wax, it can make a HUGE flame.
- Pouring water on hot oil -> hot oil spatters in your face.
- Pouring water on flaming oil -> hot oil spatters in your face, and also itâs on fire, and also the fire is spattering everywhere else and there are flames going up to the ceiling. NEVER DO THIS. To put out an oil fire, use a non-water fire extinguisher, pour a bunch of salt on it, or cover it with a lid.
- You are NOT the one person on Earth who can safely drive drunk. You really arenât.  âOh, but Iâll go real slowââ no.  âIâll focus really hardââ no.  âI know the secret tricks to do it rightââ no. Whatever a cab costs, itâs less than trauma surgery or a defense lawyer.
hehehe, yes. I really looked up to him as a kid. Itâs kinda why I get all ruffled when heâs demonized in movies/TV. LIke, guys. Guys. Guys. You remember the character Castiel from CW Supernatural? The little seraph who stood up to the big bad Lucifer? (and Michael, but letâs not mix metaphors here).
THATâS MICHAELâS STORY.
Aight. So. In tradition, Seraphim is the âhighestâ choir of angel, the closest to God. Archangel is the second âlowestâ choir. I donât know how Supernatural got this backwards, but it did. The reason Michael is so frickin impressive is because heâs a âlowly archangelâ who stood up to a fallen Seraphim - who was the âhighestâ of angels and closest to God.
Yeah, so uh. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
I love the Archangel Michael, like yeah kick the devil in the face
Hehehehe tumblr will never die! Seriously, I still donât understand the appeal of twitter....You can actually follow conversations and find what youâre looking for on tumblr. I donât have to mindlessly scroll, itâs great!
just here to vent my frustration for a bit and dip
