bang chan coworker headcanons <3

a/n: i'm once again sorry it has been so long !! life is chaotic, so my writing time had been reduced dramatically :-( regardless i hope this (and the other posts i'm forcing myself to finish soon) will bring you joy ! i really really wish chan was my coworker :,-) pics not mine <3

you met chan while staying late to finish up a huge report before the quarter was over

you stayed so late that the lights in the office automatically turned off, so, phone in hand as a flashlight, you walked through the dark office and hoped you could get this sorted before you completely lost all will to finish your work

unfortunately, your phone flashlight did not have a wide enough range to capture everything around you, which meant you were completely unaware of chan walking toward the same spot

you were made aware of his presence when you two bumped into each other and screamed

while you caught your breath, chan asked if you were okay

you replied, still unable to see much in the dark office, “who are you?” which made him laugh

“i’m chan, usually the only one who has to bump into things in order to find the override switch”

you laughed, and, once the lights came on, you realized you recognized chan from his frequent trips to the coffee machine

he recognized you by the fact you usually had headphones on at work, visibly enjoying whatever you were listening to that day

as you walked back to your respective desks, you made introductory small talk, feeling much calmer now that there was a very small chance of another jump scare

by the time you wrapped up, it was far too close to being the next day for your liking

chan, being as caring and responsible as he is, didn’t leave until he knew you were safely headed your way home

as a thank you, you decide to bring him a coffee the next morning

he was so focused on his work that you gave him a good jump scare when you said “hi,” which immediately sent both of you into a giggling fit

that solidified the chemistry between you two, and the rest was history

chan’s coffee habit benefited you, as he would buy a coffee for you on the mornings he stopped by a cafe

you always told him he didn’t need to, and he always said it would hurt his feelings if you didn’t have as much of a morning boost as he did every morning he saw you

his cheesiness aside, you were moved by the sweetness of the gesture

he’s also very much the "iced coffee is a meal" and "this is a latte so it counts as breakfast" kind of coworker i may or may not be that coworker so you bring put fruit or granola bars on his desk in the mornings

chan beams with joy every time he sees it, but he never lets go of believing coffee counts as breakfast

chan also makes several playlists for different moods at work

he sends them to you whenever he has finished a new one, buzzing with excitement while he waits for your review

he'll send you an old one too if he knows you need to be uplifted, get in the zone, etc.

when you make him a playlist, he practically melts into a puddle on the floor

all of his friends have that playlist memorized because he plays it all. the. time.

and yes, all of his friends know just about everything about you because you are chan’s favorite part of the workday

chan invites you to little dinners or hangouts with his friends pretty regularly since they’re all dying to meet you

you are surprised by how much chan has told them, and fairly flustered by how much chan remembers about you from quick conversations

he teases you for blushing, but his ears are bright red which seungmin points out immediately

one of his other favorite things is when you can hang out after work just the two of you

sometimes, if you can get off early, he’ll insist on “going on an adventure” because you’ve been gifted with rare free time

the adventure often ends up being a trip to target or something casual, but you both have the time of your lives

your coworkers always know when you two are hanging out by the sound of laughter echoing through the office

chan’s dad jokes have gotten so much stronger since he met you because he finally has someone he can pester with them all day long

if you two can’t chat during the day because you’re swamped, or because your supervisors told you you needed to stop messing around so much, chan will message you a dad joke every hour and peek over his desk to watch you open the message

you two have to hold your hands over your mouths to keep from bursting into laughter

at this point, it’s so normal that your coworkers don’t get concerned when they see tears in your eyes

your coworkers also know when one of you is out sick or on vacation because you two are so different without the other in the office

lowkey they miss you two being together like you’re entertainment for the whole office

sometimes you end up staying late at the office together, but, instead of scaring each other while looking for the light switch, you listen to music while you work in peace

or you have deep conversations because you can’t handle looking at a document for another second

you’re both enchanted by each other’s minds, and it’s so easy to have life-changing revelations whenever you open up to each other

so, while working overtime isn’t ideal, you can’t complain because you get to do it together

chan would never tell you, but on the night you met, he had finished his work before you and decided to stay so you didn’t have to be alone <33

what he will tell you, over and over again, is that night was the best overtime he had ever worked because it brought you into his life <33333

chan loved acting childish with you. he could let his guard down; with you, he could always have fun. games were more enjoyable, conversations were more playful, and everything was brighter when you two were with each other. you both relished in the feeling of being childish together. the living room, coffee shop, sidewalk–these were all your playground. chan was extra certain of that when you cracked a particularly clever joke in response to his teasing comment. he laughed, eventually giggling with pure delight because it just kept getting funnier. you couldn’t explain why, but your heart soared every time the sound of his laugh met your ears, and it didn’t feel like this sensation would stop any time soon. that sound, you decided, was more enjoyable than any game of childhood makebelieve ever could be.

when he protects you.

minho viewed you as one of the most precious people in the world. sure, that meant that, at times, he got a little too doting, scolding you for minor injuries that normally wouldn’t bother him. it was annoying but still sweet, so your complaints were lighthearted whenever they came out. you were not complaining, however, as his arm gently guided you through jampacked downtown crosswalks. cars and pushy passersby abound, yet you only felt a rush from the rustle of his jacket against yours and the way his eyes checked on you every few seconds, ensuring you were still by his side in the mess of it all. he even pulled you out of the crowd to ask if you were okay. you thought you’d always be okay, as long as you could stay with him. so you said, yes, thank you, minho. if you weren’t too busy calming your own heartbeat, you might have caught a glimpse of minho’s pink-tinted ears.

when he buys you a gift.

changbin felt so excited whenever he got to spend a day off with you. today, your schedules aligned well enough to take a day trip, and changbin never stopped smiling, giggling, or showcasing his joy in some way. you joked around with cheesy accessories in tourist shops, stared in awe at gorgeous antiques, and enjoyed each other’s company as though the day would last forever. changbin made sure it felt like that when he handed you a simple necklace, saying i bought this at that thrift store while you got us coffee. i thought you could have it as a reminder of a happy day we had together, whenever you’re down or i’m away. you accepted it, a soft thank you, changbin falling from your mouth as you latched the chain around your neck. he laughed his signature laugh, and you knew that, necklace or not, you’d never forget this day.

when you tell him he’s beautiful.

it wasn’t every day that you got to spend quiet time with hyunjin. that’s why every opportunity was special–well, more special, as any time with hyunjin was precious to you. you’re both relaxing, enjoying the soft sunlight that washes over your reclined bodies on the picnic blanket. you turn to look at him, and you’re struck by the beauty of the man beside you. he glows, all perfect angles and warm soul. when he asks why you’re staring, you reply because you are so beautiful. his eyes spin with wonder and gratitude when he looks at you, and you feel more beautiful than you ever have in your entire life. he smiles, pauses, and replies, so are you. only seven words were exchanged between you two, yet it felt as though you both had poured your hearts out over the remnants of your favorite snacks littered about the blanket beneath you.

when he looks over at you.

you’re about to watch a movie together for the first time. not just any movie, though. you’re about to watch jisung’s favorite because he has deemed you worthy of such an important endeavor. you two sit close to each other on the couch, not completely intertwined, but the space still a clear indication of how comfortable you are together. there’s a glint–excitement, mixed with fondness–in his eyes when you catch his gaze. the smile on his lips is sweeter than anything else you’ve ever seen. this moment, this fleeting exchange with jisung, is sweeter than anything else you’ve ever experienced. you’d refuse to admit it, but the way he looked at you is the reason your cheeks ached from smiling before the movie was halfway done. you had to admit you loved the movie, though, when he looked at you with his bright brown eyes, clearly grateful to have shared this experience with you.

when you two make a promise.

felix was out of town again, so your weekly hangout had to be over video. felix, being sunshine personified, still managed to warm you up through the screen. it was getting late for you, though, and felix noticed before you did that your eyelids were starting to get heavy. you protested against his you need sleep! i’ll be here when you wake up, so please go to bed! but felix knew how to coax you into listening. after all, he knew you better than most, and he cared about you even more. he said so, asking you to promise that you’ll call as soon as you wake up. the beaming smile on his face that appeared after your promise truly left you breathless, and all the more certain to call him every day, if that’s what he wanted. you could even hear that smile when he picked up the phone, and his signature warmth filled your chest as soon as he said you kept your promise!

when he tells you the truth.

seungmin wanted to take you to an arcade, so you both could let off some steam in a lighthearted, cost-effective way. while that sounded good in theory, you both realized that was impossible when the stress and cost of the claw machine overtook your night. it was still fun, and neither of you would give up until at least one plushie was in your arms. on your 23rd try, you couldn’t hide your furrowed brow or frustrated huff when the plushie slipped out of your claw fingers at the last second. seungmin laughed beside you, saying you look ridiculous right now. you frowned, and, still laughing but not wanting to kick you while you were down, seungmin clarified that it’s cute. you were grateful for the neon lights, hoping they blended with the blush on your skin to save your dignity, as the smile that grew on your face gave too much away. seungmin must not have noticed because he just slid into place in front of the claw machine. as you watched him focus, however, you noticed that a smile never left his face, despite failed attempt after failed attempt.

when you confide in him.

jeongin knew something was on your mind when you were less enthused than normal during his shopping haul. he made himself comfortable near your spot on his bed, saying you can tell me, you know? only if you want, though. you smiled, cherishing the ease with which jeongin pulled out your trusting side. without going too much into it–you still wanted to enjoy his fashion show–you admitted that you had been more stressed than normal lately, probably creeping your way toward burnout. he sighed, understanding completely and immediately, and asked what can i do to make you feel better? like magic, that alone made your world shine brighter, but you asked him to continue showing off his clothes, because that was as close as you could come to admitting how much better he made you feel just by being there.

seungcheol, as a leader, knows how to step back and support his members, even when it comes to holding back what he wants to say to let the others continue the excited conversation. with you, it was an entirely different story. it’s not that he ever spoke over you–he would never dream of such a thing–but he talked with you nonstop. there was an effortless exuberance in your conversations because he knew that you’d always listen to him. anything, truly anything, that popped into seungcheol’s head was something he wanted to share with you. sometimes he worried that he was annoying you with his endless chatter, but speaking his mind to you was instinctive. he wanted to share every one of his thoughts and perspectives with you because he wanted you to have all of him. every word he said to you was filled with a deep desire to share himself with you. the vulnerability that flowed through each conversation with you convinced him that maybe, just maybe, there were some important words he had not said to you yet.

jeonghan’s an extremely caring person. everyone knows that about him, but his thoughtfulness towards you went to a whole different level. he thought of you first for everything. everything. he could be on tour and trying a new drink, and the first thing that would pop into his head is “y/n would love this drink.” he did not care that you were hundreds of miles away from him; at that moment, all he would want to do is send you the drink in his hand, so you could try it and then tell him what you think about it. he never realized thought of you constantly until one of his members–probably joshua–pointed out how he always said your name in conversations or bought two of everything just in case. jeonghan would never intentionally try to bring you up, nor was he aware of how he ended up with duplicates of small items. in truth, your name was always on the tip of his tongue, and you were always on his mind. one day soon, something else would be on the tip of his tongue when he said your name.

joshua tried to play it cool, but he was fascinated by you as soon as he laid eyes on you. the nuances of how you speak, the gestures you make when you’re telling a story, and the way your favorite songs exposed the most important parts of you–shua was obsessed with memorizing each of these things. when something about you was engraved in his mind, he would show you he knew it by teasing you. his imitations or remarks were always spot on, but they clearly came from a place of fondness and attention. he teased you effortlessly with a soft smile and a sparkle in his eyes, something that made you melt each time. he wasn’t aware of the look on his face or the tone of his voice because the adoration came out so naturally when he was with you. if other people were around when shua poked fun at you, it was completely obvious to them what he was actually saying when he flawlessly imitated your facial expressions while telling a funny story from when you two went to a coffee shop over the weekend. even before either of you could put words to it, you could clearly feel the love behind every teasing jab.

junhui is so very unique, and that shines through in the way he treats you. from the moment he met you, he felt a very intense urge to make you smile. he thought about you constantly, and, one day while shopping around in a random city the day before a show, he found a small figurine that reminded him of you. he was so excited to give it to you that he couldn’t stop smiling every time he looked at it. from that point forward, he collected small trinkets and keepsakes for you, as a way to bring you a little burst of joy, even when he was away. sometimes he bought them, and other times he would just hold onto a sticker from a music shop you went to together, giving it to you when he was proud of you for a specific accomplishment. to junhui, it only made sense to write you a little note with your favorite jokes and hide it in your bag for whenever you had a bad day and needed a pick-me-up. through each thoughtful gift, it became clear that he wanted to give you the world, and junhui most certainly would, one snowglobe and ticket stub at a time.

soonyoung♡‧₊˚

soonyoung always felt strongly about you, so he never really stopped to put an exact word to it. how he felt about and with you was something special, something only shared between you two. it was just the world you lived in together, and, in his mind, there was no reason to analyze his natural state of existence when it felt as wonderful as life did with you in it. one thing, however, that made his head feel light and his stomach feel frenzied was a new habit he developed after he met you. whenever he said something funny, even the smallest comment that made someone else laugh, he immediately had to tell you. he’d call you, send you a voice message, or rush over to you from across the room, just to tell you the story and repeat his silly little joke. soonyoung, from the first time he ever heard you laugh, knew that he needed to see that smile on your face and hear that sound fall from your lips every chance he got. he wasn’t quite sure what to call that. soon enough though, he’d figure out how to express his deepest feeling for you with words that weren’t tied to a punchline.

wonwoo always excelled at observing everyone and everything around him. after he met you, however, most of what he saw, heard, tasted, smelled, and touched made him think of you. everywhere he went, something reminded him of you, and he’d always smile. the shoes a stranger on the subway was wearing could be similar to a pair he saw you in the other week. maybe, in the back of the restaurant he ate at with friends after a long day of work, there was someone who ordered a drink he’d ordered for you a hundred times. no matter where he was, what he was doing, or whom he was with, wonwoo found something in his surroundings that tied him back to you. even when you two were together, you’d catch him smiling in a quiet moment. he’d brush it off, say “it’s nothing; i’m just happy to be here,” but, really, he’d want to say “the sound of the car horn made me think of that movie we watched together a few weeks ago, and every time i think of you i feel so comforted and happy, like nothing could ever go wrong.” he’d stay quiet, pondering what it truly meant to always find you in his surroundings regardless of the distance between you, and he’d squeeze your hand a little tighter as he discovered the answer.

jihoon♡‧₊˚

it was extremely easy for jihoon to find inspiration for his music from you. what he didn’t realize was that you left an indelible mark on his taste in music. whenever you two spent time together, he would give you the aux (literal or proverbial) because he was interested in what music made you happy, sad, want to dance, relax, etc. he listened very intently, and it took almost no time at all for the songs you introduced to him to make their way onto his playlists. more than that, he would frequently hum the melodies of songs you showed him as he walked around his place and cleaned. no one would ever point it out to him because they had no way of knowing that the new songs he obsessed over were all tied to you, but, eventually, jihoon realized that all the songs he associated with you were the only ones he ever had stuck in his head now. memories of you permanently embedded songs into his mind, a playlist only for him to listen to in the quiet moments of life. as he wrote lyrics that expressed this occurrence, he understood that it all came down to the fact he could never, and would never, get you out of his head.

seokmin was so fond of you, and he naturally expressed that fondness by giving you at least one thing to smile about each day. it started as a way to break the ice during conversations when you first got to know each other. once you two didn’t need icebreakers, the habit stayed, and seokmin’s habit became one of the strongest aspects of your relationship. seokmin never relied on anything fancy; he would send you a wholesome meme in the morning, so you could start your day smiling, or he would show you a funny video clip when you met up for dinner, starting the night off with a hefty dose of laughter. there was a sparkle in his eye when he laughed with you, one that only showed up when he saw your smile. he would be particularly proud if he made you laugh until tears fell or you smiled so big your cheeks hurt. whenever that happened, he would boast to his members, showing them the picture or video while beaming with excitement as he recounted your reaction. alongside his excitement toward your joy existed the fact that he couldn’t rest easy until he knew you had at least a little bit of serotonin in your day. truthfully, he never felt more at peace than when he was the source of that happiness, and he wanted to feel that for as long as humanly possible.

mingyu has a real presence. from his height to his goofy personality, people know when mingyu is around. those charms were how he caught your eye, and he always got an energy boost when you were around. as he grew closer to you, more comfortable, mingyu’s behavior revealed an even sweeter side of him. whenever he spoke with you, his voice was soft and careful, every word meant for you only. his looks always held you gently as he soaked up every word that you shared with him. any times jokes or teasing comments wove their way into your conversations, he laughed hard but quietly, just loud enough for you to hear, even leaning closer to you, enclosing the both of you in the joy of the moment. if you had physical contact with each other, mingyu’s touches were as soft as everything else about him. it was never out of the belief that you were fragile. rather, tenderness radiated from mingyu whenever he felt you near, and it enveloped his entire being when he looked at you. mingyu was always caring, always considerate, but his loved ones often commented that they had never seen him so soft before. mingyu knew, without knowing how to explain it quite yet, that you were the difference.

minghao♡‧₊˚

minghao values peace and quiet. life is chaotic for most people, and this was especially true for someone in his line of work. he tried, as best as he could, to create pockets of calm whenever and wherever he could, through meditation or simply waking up to watch the sunrise by himself. searching for that peace grounded him in his toughest times, and he depended on that calmness to get through it all. as he got to know you, searching for that peace became easier. minghao was calmer, knowing you were there, and he instantly relaxed whenever you were beside him. there was not anything specific that you did; you could just look at him, and his whole body would relax, proving just how stressed he had been mere seconds before he laid eyes on you. to minghao, you were the ultimate source of serenity. he never wanted to lean into clichés, but it was true that, even in a crowded room, he would know you were there by the way his heartbeat relaxed into a natural, happy rhythm. it didn’t take long for minghao to notice that you had this effect on him. it also wouldn’t be long before he admitted this, and something just as meaningful, to you.

seungkwan♡‧₊˚

everyone knows seungkwan is an entertainer through and through. when you two were introduced to each other, he performed as well as he could to keep you laughing, and, unbeknownst to himself, to impress you. as time passed, however, he realized didn’t have to perform in front of you. he felt comfortable enough to be his most authentic self, and he only ever wanted to be his most authentic self with you. he still loved to do bits around you and be dramatic when the moment called for it, but he wanted to show you other sides of him too. for seungkwan, he felt a connection with and appreciation for you that could only be expressed by him letting his guard down. what mattered more than entertaining you was showing you every part of himself as honestly as humanly possible. showing up exactly how he was whenever he was with you was all he could think of because he always wanted to meet you exactly where you were. it wasn’t long after he realized this that his truest feelings toward you came out. it wasn’t something he thought of before he said it; it was something that slipped out when you asked him, “how was your day?”

hansol’s mind is expansive. his perspectives reflect his astute introspection and deep compassion, and he would never cease to amaze–or entertain–those around him with the thoughts inside his head. to hansol, however, your mind was the most fascinating. he was deeply curious about the things that made up who you are: your hyperfixations, the dreams you had at night, your favorite snack for each time of day, etc. he was endlessly entranced by everything that colored your life. he wanted nothing more than to color his life with them too. this genuine interest meant that hansol’s eyes were filled with childlike wonder whenever you shared something about yourself with him. he committed every minute detail to memory, and he often retold anecdotes from your life during conversations with his friends. even to them, it was endearing to see his delighted laughter as he recounted stories of small social faux pas in your adolescence that became inside jokes between you two now. it was during one of those conversations, while smiling at the thought of you, that hansol started to uncover what influenced his infatuation with all things you.

chan took to you immediately. your personality charmed him, regardless of how charming you thought yourself to be. he couldn’t get enough of the conversations shared between you two, existential or lighthearted. chan genuinely wanted to talk to you as much as humanly possible–without annoying you or taking you away from the other people you cared about–and that’s why he started calling you whenever he was done with his schedules for the day. it could be the hardest practice of the year, but chan, drenched in sweat and barely able to walk, would light up the second you started to say “hello” on the phone. the sound of your voice literally put a pep in his step. he developed a liking to walking home, just so he had an excuse to talk to you for a long time without any interruptions. neither of you needed convincing, however, because everything flowed so seamlessly between you. chan didn’t know exactly how to tell you this, but, with you, he was eager to say even the simplest things until his voice gave out, just so he could keep on talking to you.

almost everyone in the office is scared of him

you two never crossed paths because you work in different departments, so the only things you knew about him were what coworkers told you

the first time you saw him was when you went into a quiet place in the office to watch some videos and take a mental break from work

he was hiding in that very place because he had been reprimanded by his supervisor for a project (his partner on it was the one who dropped the ball but just so happened to be “sick” that day) and minho needed to collect himself before going back to his desk

that’s how you caught the scariest guy in the office looking at pictures of his beloved cats

when he noticed you, he tried to play it cool and act annoyed, but you saw the tips of his ears turn red as he realized you saw him being super soft for his precious cats

reading the room, you asked “rough day?” and the genuine concern in your voice completely melted minho’s scary facade away

he scoffed, rolled his eyes, and answered “yeah. gotta love being someone else’s fall guy”

that sparked a conversation that included him showing off his cats to you, and you showing him the silly little videos you were watching to boost your mood

slowly but surely, minho would seek you out whenever he wanted a friendly conversation

you were the only person in the office he didn’t try to intimidate, and everyone else was in complete awe of this

especially when they saw you two doing word/logic puzzles at work during your breaks

he even bought one of those massive puzzle books so you two could use it

whenever your lunches didn’t line up, you’d leave each other teasing and/or encouraging notes in the margins of the pages

that book became a conversational record between you two

he’d never admit it, but, sometimes, when minho was feeling sentimental, he’d look through old pages and laugh at how your notes got more and more ridiculous as you two got more and more comfortable with each other :,-)

like if you two are sitting together during a coffee break and a coworker asks about weekend plans, minho would give a vague answer about interdimensional travel

before your coworker’s brain goes into overdrive trying to decode the statement, you’d explain, “he’s going to the animated film festival this weekend”

your coworker nods and silently leaves after getting their coffee, completely unaware of the snort minho let out at your translation

minho, despite befriending you, does not let go of his scary persona

in fact, because he’s so fond of you, he’ll use it to protect you

if someone bad mouths your quality of work or makes a snide remark about you in general, minho responds in a way that gives them nightmares for weeks

he never tells you that he does that, but you do catch him smirking whenever one of the perpetrators is nicer to you in the office >:-)

he’s super supportive of you at work too !!

he’s your number one advocate when it comes to asking for a raise, applying for a promotion, etc.

minho thinks you deserve the best, and he’ll fight tooth and nail himself to get that for you, even though he knows you are more than capable of achieving greatness yourself

he thinks so highly of your skills and talent, and he wants to make sure you recognize your own potential <3

if he’s feeling insecure or down because of work or poor interactions with coworkers, he’ll turn to you for support, even if he doesn’t directly admit that something’s bothering him

he could make a joke like “ah, how’re you going to solve this crossword if i get fired?”

obviously, you’d know exactly what he means by that and say “if you’re getting fired, i’m quitting because firing such a smart and competent employee is a major red flag”

he’d tease, “wow, you’re really dedicated to crossword puzzles”

you’d nod, and he’d smile softly because he knew that you were always going to be his rock at work, and he’s eternally grateful for that

minho is so selective with the people he lets close to him, and, since you passed the test, he wants you two to be close outside of the office too

it takes him a while to work up the courage to invite you to hangout after work

but, when he’s throwing a casual dinner party with his friends, he knows it’s the perfect time to see each other without being bound by work schedules

you of course accept his invitation, but you also admit you’re a little nervous to meet all his friends

minho reassures you by telling you that he, a perfect and extremely cool person, has curated an impeccable group of people, so you have nothing to be worried about

and he’s totally right because all of his friends are not only super funny and kind, but they also love you !!!

i'm (sort of) back ! :-)

hi lovelies !!! ahhhhh it has been FAR too long :,-( i really didn't mean to take a four-month hiatus, but life genuinely made it so difficult for me to spend time on this blog (even though all i wanted to do was write) </3

thankfully, i'm finally coming out of the writer's/energy block i've been trapped in for the past few months. while i won't be able to post regularly because of all the life things i have going on (i'm about to move halfway across the country and start a new job), i will be posting here and there! i've been writing a bit during the hiatus, and i'm finishing some of those pieces now. i'm actually going to post one shortly after this post! :,-)

as for requests, i'm SO sorry that i disappeared on them. i promise i'll take care of them; i want to make sure they're good for y'all, so i'm taking my time to ensure i can bring you the utmost comfort, especially as you've been waiting for quite some time!

finally, thank you so so much for continuing to interact with and support my work while i've been away !! there are 460 of you now, and i'm so, so honored to share this comfort corner of the internet with you <33333 i hope my existing works have brought you serotonin and comfort, and that my upcoming posts will do the same :,-)

valentine's day with stray kids <3

a/n: happy valentine's day lovelies !! i really am just in my feelings these days and, while i've never been much of a valentine's day person, i can't help but get heart eyes thinking about spending it with skz :,-) jeongin's is actually my ideal valentine's day date, so here's to hoping i can experience it someday soon <3 pics not mine~

chan is so excited to celebrate valentine’s with you that he starts counting down the days on january 1st. really, he is just excited to celebrate anything and everything with you, and valentine’s day just happens to be a day when he can celebrate how much he loves you. because he is the sweetest boy in the world, he gets you a plushie of your favorite animal/character. this beloved plushie is holding a cute card with a heartfelt handwritten note inside it, including a cheesy pickup line–which he learned from stays–and a list of things he loves about you. chan, giddy with his love for you, blushes and giggles the whole way through giving you your gift. he continues giggling as you read the card, and poor chan is the brightest red when you look at him with starry eyes because how can he have such a big heart and love so innocently? chan is embarrassed by how red his cheeks and ears are, so he hugs you and nuzzles his face into your neck in an attempt to hide the fact that he physically cannot stop blushing. he prays you can’t feel his pounding heartbeat with his chest pressed to yours, but he doesn’t care too much given the fact that he loves holding and being held by you. when you give him his valentine–a handwritten note and a playlist of songs chosen just for him–chan completely melts. his knees are weak and his stomach is full of butterflies. he says his heart has stopped and the only cure is cuddling with you all day. for dramatic effect, he pretends that he can’t open his eyes or move his body as he falls to the floor, but the corners of his mouth never stop twitching upward because i cannot believe how happy i am with them. i never thought it was possible for my heart to beat so fast or love so deeply, but loving y/n makes me believe anything is possible. when you kiss him, his eyes burst wide open, the blush returning to his face and giggles escaping his mouth. when he looks up at you, the sparkle in your eyes enchants him, and he contemplates if he should share a confession he’s been holding onto for a long time. the breathless laugh that falls from your grinning face convinces him to bare his soul to you, so he interlaces his fingers with yours and asks, “do you want to hear a song i’ve been working on?”

minho sees valentine’s day as the perfect excuse to live out some domestic fantasies with you. he swears up and down that he wants it to be lowkey, the “let’s not buy each other gifts. it’s better to spend quality time together than give into a scheme of candy hearts and cheesy cards,” kind of valentine’s day. the whole time you’re grocery shopping for dinner, he is watching you with lovestruck eyes and the sweetest, softest smile anyone has ever seen. he practically coos whenever he speaks to you, telling you to pick whatever you want for dinner. honey is dripping from his voice because he adores you and they look so cute trying to decide on which fruit looks the ripest. i’ll happily wait hours in the store for them to pick the best fruit every single day of my life. i really am in love with them. once you return from the store, it’s all aprons and dance parties in the kitchen as you cook together. minho makes more decisions once in the kitchen because he wants to ensure you have the best meal possible, but he’ll still hold the spoon up to your lips for every taste test and only adjust seasoning according to your preferences. he convinces you to clean up the kitchen a bit while he sets the table because “if i’m putting the presentation together, it’s only fair if you clean up the materials.” you are endearingly annoyed, but that turns into wholehearted endearment when you see a small box next to your dinner plate. minho acts as though he doesn’t see it when he pushes in your chair, and he feigns nonchalance as he watches you from across the table, carefully observing your reaction to his surprise. in the box there is a very thoughtful gift, a memento from the first time he saw you, and a note detailing how he felt on your first date. you’re stunned, to say the least, because i can’t believe he kept that all this time and i can’t believe he was so sure of me right after he met me. he eats like it’s no big deal, but his ears turn magenta when you thank him and there’s a sparkle in his eyes that only appears when he looks at you, so it’s safe to say that he is going to remember and cherish this moment forever and then some.

changbin♡‧₊˚

changbin firmly believes you are the main character, so he wants to treat you like absolute royalty every day. valentine’s day gives him an excuse to amplify his natural adoration for you into full-blown theatrics. he pulls out all of the cliché and romantic stops. changbin handpicks a bouquet of roses for you. he buys you the best box of chocolates/candy in the prettiest heart shape in the store. he gives these to you with heart-shaped balloons and a teddy bear that says “i love you beary much” on the stomach. if he could make it rain, he would, just so he could dance with you and kiss you in it. changbin, however, quickly gets embarrassed by the constant romantic gestures because if they look at me with a big smile one more time, i will have a heart attack. as soon as his brain reaches the point of complete malfunction, he starts laughing and squealing. you are shocked at first, especially since he was in the middle of a romantic declaration of love, but you are quickly laughing with him because he is the sweetest and most ridiculous partner. at one point, he just yells a signature changbin, “ah!!!” to regulate his senses. after calming down, he asks you what you want to do. of course, he agrees immediately to whatever you suggest and is beyond excited to spend time with you without the pressure to be prince charming. he does not let go of your hand for the rest of the day. changbin actually whines if you leave his side for longer than two minutes. whenever you huff in annoyance, he whips out aegyo with extra sweetener in it, so you quickly fold and return to his side. at the end of the day, you both are still smiling and looking at each other with huge heart eyes. you’re standing in the kitchen pouring yourself a glass of water when changbin comes in and softly asks, “will you dance with me?” he holds his hand out to you, which you immediately accept, and he pulls you close to him, relishing in the intimacy of a simple romantic gesture. as you sway together, changbin hums your song and closes his eyes because nothing will ever be as warm as their body against mine, and nothing will ever sound more beautiful than the way they same my name in a quiet room.

hyunjin♡‧₊˚

hyunjin is a hopeless romantic every single day, but he sees valentine’s day as the perfect opportunity to put his romance skills to the test. when you wake up in the morning, there is a love letter by your pillow in which he recounts the moment he fell in love with you, detailing every beat of his heart and the expression you had when he realized you were the most beautiful person he had ever seen. he perfectly times his entrance with a cup of your favorite coffee/tea, putting the mug in your hand right as you set down his handwritten confession. his brown eyes are glowing with adoration, and he kisses your forehead before settling back in bed next to you. hyunjin’s voice is soft as he asks you if you slept well and what you dreamt about. the smile is plastered to his face as he plays with your fingers because i finally understood the beauty of mornings once i started waking up next to them because the sunlight never seemed bright enough until it glowed on their skin. after your relaxing time in bed wraps up, hyunjin brings out watercolor supplies for you two. he gets super romantic and sentimental when he suggests you paint each other, but, soon enough, his own love overwhelms him and he falls into a cutesy laughing fit which makes your heart burst just as much as the love letter you woke up to. in line with how your relationship is, you two easily pivot from the grand romantic gesture into a game of painting silly pictures and seeing if the other person can guess what it is. it’s absolutely hilarious and perfect because you know that everything is romantic when i’m with him because hyunjin does everything with love. hyunjin’s at risk for hitting his head with how hard he’s laughing at your interpretation of his favorite mug, but he can’t stop laughing because i think true love feels like laughing until you're out of breath, even when the joke stops being funny, and i can never stop laughing when i’m with them.

jisung♡‧₊˚

jisung wants nothing more on valentine’s day than to spend it with you. you are his biggest comfort, so he knows that the best way to show you he loves you is to relax and hang out together, existing happily and comfortably in the same space. jisung also always wants to make sure you’re doing well, which means he has added some extra self-care activities to your relaxing day together. he insists that comfy clothes are mandatory. he suggests you wear your favorite shirt/hoodie, and he blushes when he quietly tells you that he picked his hoodie because it was the hoodie he wore the first time you hugged him. the only appropriate reaction to that sudden confession is to hold his face in both your hands, turning jisung into a blushing mess who groans about how cute you are and hides behind the pillows. once he somewhat regains his composure, he reappears by your side on the couch and holds your hand gently as he asks you if you’d like to go to your favorite bakery to get treats. he keeps your hands interlaced as you make your way to the bakery, talking excitedly about everything he’ll buy you and making you promise that you will share at least one bite with him. you tease and say that you won’t because “it’s my treat. i don’t have to share it.” he pouts, feigning a deep sadness, but that melts away to reveal a massive smile when you nudge his shoulder and say, “i’ll always share with you, jisung.” he mumbles a “thank you” because i’ve never been more in love than right now. the entire day, jisung watches you with extra heart eyes, and he doesn’t look away when you catch him like that. he swoons over the love he sees in your eyes, and he will become a lovey-dovey mess if you so much as giggle slightly. he adores you, and he never wants to let you go because i know they say you can’t make a person into a home, but being by y/n’s side is the most at-home i’ve felt in my entire life. being with them is the most natural thing in the world. loving them is the closest i’ve come to absolute peace, and i want nothing more than to bring that sense of security and comfort to them.

felix♡‧₊˚

felix loves quality time with you just as much as he loves giving you presents. therefore, he firmly believes that doing cute valentine’s day themed arts and crafts together will be the most fun you two could have. rather than buying gifts or going out, you spend the day with your favorite music/show playing in the background while you sit at the table and whip up beautiful works of art. felix insists you two dress up according to “the theme of the day,” which means you’re both wearing some kind of combination of pink and red clothing. it’s cheesy, but it makes felix giggle every time he remembers how you are matching, so it’s more than worth dressing up for an at-home date. the first craft of the day is creating diy valentines. felix went to a craft store to buy scissors that cut in different shapes, a variety pack of construction paper, 10 sheets of stickers, scented colored markers, and glitter glue. he puts a makeshift wall between you two at the table because “we can’t ruin the surprise!” he unabashedly watches you while you work, smiling brightly because i never knew a furrowed brow could be so cute. of course, felix cannot resist the perfect opportunity to bake together, so the kitchen becomes a mess of flour and food coloring as you bake cookies and make pink, red, and purple frosting to decorate them with. he breaks off pieces of cookies and feeds them to you while you work, and he hums in approval when he tastes the cookies himself. he swears up and down they turned out so well because of the secret ingredient only you two could put in it: true love. he bursts into a giggling fit after he says that, completely out of breath as you both return to the table to put together valentine’s day gift baskets for each other. despite the fact that you spent the entire day making these together, the act of receiving a gift basket from felix is exhilarating. he is practically vibrating with excitement when he watches you read the valentine, and his heart is almost guaranteed to burst out of his chest when you thank him because if it means i can see them smile like that, i will never stop giving them presents. people call me sunshine, but they clearly have never experienced how warm and bright y/n looks when they’re happy. felix tears up when he opens your gift basket, and he hugs you so tightly you are gasping for air. he kisses it better and hugs you tightly again.

seungmin is so full of joy whenever he’s with you, so he wants your valentine’s day to be a very fun and cute day out on the town! he plans a little adventure to all your favorite spots and some new ones–he acts casual about it but he’s been planning it for weeks–and he holds your hand as he leads you around the city. the smile that beams on his face, the way you two laugh while you rush through crowded crosswalks, and the sound of seungmin’s voice as he tells the barista your order without having to ask you first has your heart racing like a kid falling in love for the first time. seungmin teases you as per usual, but he slips in sweet compliments more often. the wind will blow your jacket awry, and seungmin will exclaim, “hah! you look so dumb like that!” he’s laughing while he fixes your jacket, and, once he’s satisfied, he whispers, almost unaware of the truth he’s spilling right in front of you, “ah, now you’re as perfect as always.” a blush creeps onto your skin, but seungmin is too lost in his thoughts of i’ll never get tired of fixing things for them. it’s an honor to be close enough to know when their shoelaces are untied or their soup is too hot to notice the pink that tinges your face. when you’re nearing the end of your date, a claw machine outside a shop catches your eye. you tell seungmin that to be a “proper partner” he should try to win a plushie for you. he rolls his eyes, saying, “if you ask me nicely enough, i’ll consider it.” he’s feeling extra soft today, so only the slightest bit of aegyo is required to sway him. after many, many attempts, he manages to catch the toy of your choice, reminding you that he gets custody of it “if you don’t take care of it properly.” you tease him for being a helicopter parent and clutch the plushie close to your chest as you walk side by side to the final stop of your valentine’s day adventure. little do you know, seungmin is watching you carefully, lovestruck eyes shining, thinking i hope this plushie keeps them company whenever i’m away. i might even have an easier time falling asleep if i know they’re able to hold onto something they love, but i’ll never rest easy unless we’re back in each other’s arms.

jeongin doesn’t want to take valentine’s day too seriously, but he will never miss an opportunity to show his appreciation for you. he wants to spend the day with you to celebrate your relationship, so he figures out the ultimate valentine’s day date: watching bad, cheesy rom coms together. at first, you’re a little confused, but he quickly explains that the point of this marathon is to cringe together at how ridiculous the writing and acting is. the idea sounds hilarious, and the glint of excited mischief in your partner’s eyes is more than enough to convince you. you two go all out, collecting the comfiest blankets, wearing the ultimate loungewear–matching, of course, because jeongin insists on taking fit pics “for posterity”–and selecting the most iconic films available. the air is sweet and the energy is lighthearted as you and jeongin are cuddled up on the sofa in your favorite spots, laughing and groaning at whatever antics the characters are up to. whenever you react, he watches you fondly and smiles because i love the sound of their laugh and the way they scrunch their nose when they cringe and i could watch them forever and never get enough of it but will tease you about being dramatic whenever you catch him staring. you two can’t resist repeating the worst lines of the films to each other with the most exaggerated tones and facial expressions because the laughter in those moments is wildly contagious. it’s all fun and games, but jeongin definitely gets blushy and flustered when you bat your eyelashes while saying an overly sweet confession line. he’ll never admit that you made him swoon with something as cliché as that, though he can’t hide the stunned look that crosses his face when he realizes how fast his heart is beating when you look at him like that. you tease him, heart fluttering when he rolls his eyes and poking his dimple when he smiles sheepishly because he is so beautiful when he’s happy like this, and i am so happy with him. jeongin fights with all his might to stop himself from completely melting at your cuteness, but that doesn’t stop him from melting into your touch. he sighs in relief when his heart settles down as you two resume your casual cuddling, and he grins because even if the writers didn’t get it perfectly right, i finally understand the kind of love these movies are about.

hyunjin rubbed his fingers over that one spot on his collarbone. i remember we broke into. i remember we broke into. i remember we broke into. those words, the half of a whole, were the only tie he had to you. touching that engraving on his flesh was the closest he could come to being held by you, and he craved that comfort the most when his heart raced like this.

today was the kind of day hyunjin wished would wrap up sooner than later. he knew it wouldn’t, not when the sun had only recently risen and his day had started hours ago. days like this, full of schedules, full of practice, full of work, full of stress–these were the days that went on forever. adrenaline and caffeine buzzed through his body. hyunjin was ready to race through the day, fully aware that his limbs would ache at the finish line, leaving him with nothing to do but collapse into rest as soon as it was over.

i remember we broke into. i remember we broke into. i remember we broke into.

hyunjin had missed chan calling his name five times, forcing his eyes to turn in the general direction of chan’s whereabouts when he finally replied, “yeah?”

“we are going to the convenience store. want to come with?”

chan’s question came out as more of a suggestion, and hyunjin did not need much convincing to get a change of scenery. he caught up with his members, walking quickly at the back of the group, his feet falling on the ground in a steady beat of i remember we broke into. maybe the stress had his mind too jumbled to be down on earth. maybe he was lost in questions of what in the world the other half of that quote could be. maybe he was annoyed that he forgot to bring his good sunglasses on a day the sun was shining brightly. maybe he simply yearned for his bed and a break. regardless of the reason, something preoccupied hyunjin, which caused him to bump his shoulder against someone else’s body.

“ah!” hyunjin grabbed his shoulder.

“i’m sorry! are you okay?”

one of your hands clasped the shoulder with which you had hit hyunjin. in your other hand, you held something that captured all of hyunjin’s attention: a banana man plushie, fitted with a deadpan expression and a bright yellow hoodie. hyunjin, without registering much else of the situation, burst out laughing. you were surprised by this, to say the least. however, once you followed his gaze and saw that he couldn’t take his eyes off your friend’s birthday gift in your hand, you burst into laughter yourself. that banana man, in that moment, was the funniest thing in the world. you and hyunjin knew that for a fact when you felt your stomachs cramp and ache from the laughter. the way that you two were giggling and fighting for air was nothing short of contagious, so all the people walking around you started to believe that the plushie was top-tier entertainment. not that either of you noticed, when all of your attention was focused on something special between you.

hyunjin took a gasp of air he desperately needed. while the banana man was captivating, he looked toward the source of the laughter that mixed so sweetly with his own, and he found you. for the first time that day, his eyes completely focused on the world in front of him. hyunjin couldn’t look away, and, heart fluttering with a joy and excitement he didn’t quite understand, he smiled and savored the sound of your final chuckles. after you caught your breath, you absentmindedly massaged the point of contact on your shoulder, and you waited for hyunjin to answer your previous question. he stared at you, confusion furrowing his brow slightly, until he felt a small pang in his shoulder and remembered you two had just crashed into each other.

“yeah, yeah, i–i am. sorry, are you..are you okay?”

you nodded, endeared by his light laughs lingering in the air, the way he stumbled over words as he caught his breath, and his brown eyes. there was a pause, so you moved your hand away from your shoulder to grab your bag, though you had absolutely no intention to leave. something held you there; this moment between you and the beautiful boy in front of you wasn’t meant to end yet (or, at least, you weren’t ready for it to). unbeknownst to you, that simple movement of your hand revealed a tattoo just like hyunjin’s. the words were different, but the script, placement, size, and even the slant of it beneath your collarbone was a mirror image of the words hyunjin carried on his body.

his pulse found a new rhythm, one his mind fell perfectly into step with, as his eyes danced across each letter on your skin.

hyunjin’s jaw dropped. you looked back at the wide-eyed man, unsure as to why you telling him that you were okay after your collision was shocking news.

“i remember we broke into laughter when we saw each other,” hyunjin said softly.

you heard him perfectly clear, though you weren’t entirely sure what he meant by that, so you teased him, “we did just see each other, so i hope you’d remember that.”

he smiled, another quick laugh falling from his lips as he moved his shirt collar to reveal the words on his collarbone, “i remember we broke into laughter when we saw each other.”

now your jaw dropped, “oh my god.”

a flurry of butterflies unleashed in hyunjin’s stomach because he couldn’t believe how cute you looked when shock and wonder filled your expression, but he managed to ask, “do you know what it’s from?”

“no, i–”

your answer was interrupted by chan calling out hyunjin’s name. hyunjin whipped his head toward him, signaled with a wave of his hand that he’d be there shortly, and returned his attention to you. you stared at his collarbone, seeing the tattooed words clearly, despite the fabric of his shirt covering them. he giggled as he reached his hand out to you, a new contact page opened on his phone.

without having to think, you accepted the phone and typed in your number, “i don’t think i’ve heard that before.”

“well, i have to go back to work, but would you be able to look it up and send me what you find?”

“of course,” your fingertips brushed against his when you handed the phone back, and you smiled brightly in response to the soft electricity.

“i’m hyunjin.”

“i’m y/n.”

he inhaled as though he were smelling freshly baked bread, and serenity washed over him, “i’ll see you soon, y/n.”

“i sure hope so, with us being soulmates and all.”

he laughed as he waved goodbye, and you laughed as you watched him walk away. i remember we broke into laughter when we saw each other.

unable to resist the temptation, you stepped out of the flow of pedestrians and typed those words into the search bar. Ada Limón’s “What I Didn’t Know Before” popped up immediately. reading the last four lines over and over again, you felt butterflies swarm your stomach and certainty rush through your heart.

“I remember we broke into laughter / when we saw each other. What was between / us wasn't a fragile thing to be coddled, cooed / over. It came out fully formed, ready to run."

this poem was, without a doubt in your mind, the correct solution to the question you had been asking your whole life. you also knew, without a doubt in your mind, hyunjin was the right person to hold your heart, after it had been calling out to someone from its first beat. you sent hyunjin a link to the poem, holding on tightly to the banana man plushie as you walked toward your next destination.

and you’re like ??? "cheol, jeonghan told me you complained about not having your favorite hoodie for at least fifteen minutes, so i’m giving you back your favorite hoodie"

he’s blushing and trying extremely hard to keep his annoyed face when he replies, “FINE.”

secretly he’s happy he gets to wear something that smells like you, and slowly but surely there’s a rotation of his clothes in your closet, switching them out when he “needs” them back for an outfit

aka he is taking them with him on tour or when his schedules mean he won’t be able to see you very often so he can at least have something with him that reminds him of you

tbh he's pretty cheesy in this regard and in many other ways but he tries to act tsundere and it just comes out so cute <3

seungcheol is such a laughy boy

he loves to be playful with you

sometimes he mocks you in a childish voice, especially if you're having a playful argument about something dumb, but then laughs cutely right after so you’re not THAT mad

it frequently happens that you both get stuck in a loop of mocking each other's voices like children on the playground and after far too long of it going on you two burst into hysterical laughter

don't be surprised if seungcheol says, "i love you" after he catches his breath and wipes his tears once the laughing fit has passed

you're the only person who can make him laugh like that and it fills his heart with more joy than you could imagine :,-)

seungcheol is the sweetest, most solid partner in the world. he adores you, and he will never let you forget that because you are his favorite person in the world !!
