First of all, Shuri was born in 1998. This is the MCU timeline and takes place after the blip, so 2023. Add some time for T'Challa to get sick and pass away, 2024 (which is where most of this year's movies took place). Add a year, Ramonda dies, 2025. She is roughly 27 at this point (If she was dusted, she's 23, but still a grown up). Combine that with Namor having an extended life at roughly 500 years, how is this a problematic age gap? He's older than most people on Earth! If theirs is problematic, so is Thor and Jane Foster (Thor is like 2000 years old.) You can't even use the "well, Thor's a god" thing, because so is K'ulk'ulkan. And further, I don't like the insinuation that I'm gross enough to ship a child with an adult. Fuck you for that, tbh. Especially because Letitia is 29 IRL, anyway.

"Hey! Instead of coming up with a meaningful original arc for Shuri to become the Black Panther, let's just give her T'Challa's Civil War arc all over again! We'll have T'Challa die the same way his actor did and then Ramonda drowns so Shuri's all alone! We'll give her the lamest suit from all her Black Panther concept arts and then it all culminates in a half-assed speech about why Wakanda and Talokan should be friends! We're geniuses!"

was reading avengers v8 (and by reading i mean skimming at warp speed and pausing only to read tony and steve panels) but it’s always funny to me how little understanding an marvel writer is required to know about the character relationships they’re writing. tony and carol are arguably two of the most famous big name avengers and jason aaron really had tony out here flirting with her across his run. as if they haven’t had one of marvel’s longest-standing platonic friendships and tony is her AA sponsor. like this man clearly knew nothing about their friendship when he picked up the post-cwII animosity and tension, went “oh tony’s a flirt and a manwhore so ofc he’d flirt with carol” and ran with it. and this is the kind of characterisation that gets past the editing room of marvel’s flagship avengers comic

All kittens are beginning to adjust! They're getting calmer and starting to accept this as their home. They did lots of exploring of the front porch today (under my supervision) and wore themselves out! They've all been treated for fleas and we're going to start working on worming them in a day or two. The little girls hiss and growl at their poor confused brother a lot and we're fairly sure it's because they're at the age where they start going into heat, so their hormones are making them grumpy. But they're getting a lot calmer and none of them have been fighting and they respond VERY well to verbal tones when I tell them, "It's okay" "Calm down" "Be nice!"

They're all little sweethearts. Baby boy wants love the most, he just wants to snuggle all day. Maraly and Leeli like being held because then they can see over the latticework to the world beyond :)

Not Wakanda Forever sliding into the fucking abyss after only like 2 months (tbh I stopped hearing abt it after like 3 weeks) even though it was one of the most profound and heartfelt movies the MCU has ever released.

ok maybe this is controversial but it's always rubbed me the wrong way whenever an actor/celebrity dies and everyone is mourning them but only in relation to the character they played??? like idk if my mom died tomorrow and everyone was mourning her because she couldn't do her job anymore I would probably commit a hatecrime

Remember that post I made about dudebros wanting comic accurate storylines in the mcu, except when it comes to poc/female characters? 

Dudebros so desperately NOT wanting Shuri to take on the mantle of BP, despite her doing just that in the comics when T’Challa was gravely injured, is a prime example of this (also people not wanting this movie to be made at all, regardless of any character decisions, saying it’s “too forced”)

And none of that “she’s too immature in the mcu!” or “no one asked for this!”

She was reckless and immature in the comics too, to the point she was actually rejected by Bast, but she didn’t let that stop her and it was one of the obstacles she had to face. And she made it. if the writing is good, this could definitely work.

Not to be like "ca:cw is such a great movie" but damn ca:cw is such a great movie. Most of the plot was driven by characters seeking vengeance, Zemo for his family, T'Challa for his father, and Tony for his mother. And in the end that endless cycle was their undoing, with T'Challa being the only one who managed to get out of it with a better mindset.
