y'know, it's funny, from replaying pokemon scarlet / violet basegame, i'm pretty sure if you're not internet poisoned, then one of the most memorable things about nemona could be that she only battles you half or less of the times that she checks in to help you because she wants it to be perfect and fair for you and really doesn't want to annoy you, to the point it almost seems like she's making excuses NOT to battle you, not that she's a wild dog that's stalking you and will not leave you alone. one of her earliest character establishing moments is looking directly into the camera with puppy dog eyes and apologizing profusely for wanting a rematch because she had fun

she's in the gyms because she's also doing the gyms! she gets really embarrassed that it looks like she's following you around and decides not to battle you to prove she's not! if she is, she's probably following you because geeta asked her to, and clavell literally said she should take you under her wing! she usually gives you advance warning that she's going to be taking you on soon!

in particular, once you're out of the tutorial she talks to and helps you without battling you for the first three badges of her own questline

it's always, like, clavell and geeta being like 'smh get a load of this girl, she needs to back off, who does she think she is, gary oak?' with their body language. the "oops, nemona didn't realize that cutscene didn't heal you" thing the game keeps doing feels kinda forced.

maybe it's just pokemon writing being what it is (i really don't know why they act like she'd use her champion team against your starter, she just picked a starter, what are you talking about. make her look overeager in a way that makes sense with her character or anyone over the age of 5 please) but the way nemona actually is not matching the way everyone talks about her seems to be a thing in universe and out, and i want to remember this rather than fall into a telephone game of what the plot actually was

if anything, I wish she was less afraid to annoy the player, and more present in the game! y'know, appearing in the sidelines during gym battles with the rest of the crowd rather than the text simply saying she was, for example

idk, I wonder if things would be different if the most vocal pokemon "fans" didn't hate characters interacting with them. maybe I want a brock and misty with me the whole game. maybe biri biri and after the rain are the experience I want

acting like the character who puts our enjoyment above her own and is afraid to annoy us still annoyed us is how we get a DLC that never mentions her or the other main characters of the story in 9 months of promotional materials and, maybe someday, a gen 10 with no friends at all.

“He eats oranges with the peel still on, he's an absolute himbo. Also the writers accidentally made his daughter canonically trans so he definitely supports trans rights. And technically you can only marry him if you play as female Robin but their dynamic is still just as romantic if you play as male Robin (they literally call each other their other half and m!Robin and Chrom have a valentine's day duo unit in the gatcha, and in the anthology manga m!Robin asks Chrom to make polygamy legal so he can also marry Chrom's wife and they can be a family) so most people play the game with the gay mod so they can still marry him as a guy. He's incredibly stupid ("yeah, let's set all our ships on fire then walk through a volcano, you're so smart, Robin" "I know you've had prophetic visions about killing me and our daughter came from the future to warn us it would happen but I'm sure THIS TIME it won't because of the power of our bonds") but also really sweet. In the summer DLC they're fighting on a beach and when he sees Robin get excited over a weird creature they found he immediately forgets about the battle and starts trying to make a bunch of crafts (and failing) and cooking food (and failing again) and writing "Chrom and Robin were here" in the sand so that Robin could have some nice beach memories. I'm obsessed with this man”

Canto VI made me realize something— if the quality per Canto keeps increasing, will we ever get a revisit of old Cantos that don't have as much content compared to the newer ones? For instance:

Canto I - 23 pieces of cutscene art, 12 backgrounds, 2 unique distortions

Canto II - 19 pieces of cutscene art, 23 backgrounds, 3 (technically) unique boss fights

Canto III - 17 pieces of cutscene art, 15 backgrounds, 3 unique boss fights, 1 in-battle cutscene

Canto IV - 39 pieces of cutscene art, 27 backgrounds, 5 (I'm 90% sure) boss fights, 2 in-battle cutscenes

Canto V - 43 pieces of cutscene art, 39ish backgrounds, 5 boss fights, 3 in-battle cutscenes

Canto VI - 29 pieces of cutscene art, 36 backgrounds, 4 boss fights, 5-9 in-battle cutscenes depending on your definition of a cutscene

Canto VI isn't a great example of this because numbers-wise it may seem like it has less, but also there was a lot more creativity in the use of resources here and most of them took a lot longer to make and had like a bajillion different sublayers

RIGHT! THE POINT I WAS TRYING TO MAKE WITH THIS. I just thought that it'd be nice to get a Canto I-III revisit or something bc like while they were introductory chapters, it sort of feels like the respective characters were slighted since they didn't really get as much content as Cantos IV-VI did. I'm sure I'll look back at these Cantos soon and find them lacking compared to Canto VII onward, but idk. It just got me thinking if we get anything more for characters whose chapters have already happened.

Anyways. Canto VI was great. I really liked it. Rant over.

(PS: I'm not saying that older Cantos are lacking, it's more that the newer ones are too good that they're raising the bar lmao.)

i enjoy kazuha in every genre.... that much is now clear to me!!! i need to get him onhis next rerun like i need him soooo bad you dont understand T T but miss shenhe is end of 3.5 and i need her BAD so idk how im going to pull both since i heard that kazuha is 3.6 but it will happen it will happen!!!

a list of things I experienced during my bad edibles high :DDD

Note that I didn't literally see some of these visuals but that's what they felt like to me in this particular abstract way.

- I started to feel depersonalized, like I increasingly was not in my body or in the present moment. I was in a state of complete disbelief that this was my body and I was in it

- I was a brain wearing a VR headset and playing a hyper-realistic video game. What's beyond this game? I don't know.

- (strap in, this gets really abstract now) what it FELT like to me, was that I was being pulled out of a screen, and the TV was a wacky shape with a backdrop of artificial, Windows 95 clouds, and the background would change to all these weird neon colors. The graphics of the outside world I can only describe as "Spy Kids CGI". It felt like I was perpetually phasing from the video game to the GameCube main menu (idk what a GameCube is like bitch I was born in 2002)

- It felt like my consciousness was in an aspect ratio of 1:1 and was zoomed in. It also felt like the motion smoothing setting was turned on for the world around me, like everything was 80 FPS.

- The speed of the car I was in felt distorted; I'd close my eyes and it'd feel like we were going 100 mph

- Sometimes I'd close my eyes and feel like I was inside my skull

- I was continuously phasing not just in and out of the present moment, but also in and out of time. Time was irregular, like I was skipping cutscenes in a game.

- I was FEELING (not just remembering) my memories and my dreams blending together into this singular constantly morphing thing. Like those AI generated pictures that morph into different stuff. What I mean by feeling is that the memories are like a substance, an abstract thing touching my brain that I can't describe other than the fact that it's there.

- Sometimes I would feel things and visions that feel like memories, and feel familiar in an abstract dream-like way, but are really like if I asked an AI to draw a memory I would have. It felt like I was feeling these liminal space "dreamcore" pictures but with a multisensory dream filter put on them to give them back their whimsy.

- The visual of me turning to look in the mirror would be fuzzy and delayed.

- Moving my body would feel delayed in the same way, like the world was made of fluids. It'd feel like I was concentrating my consciousness into my hand for example.

- I was feeling multiple of my selves across time, all at once. Different self-perceptions of how I see myself as a girl, as well as me back when I was a guy, at different points of my life. I kind of didn't know who to be, what was true or untrue.

- The high is especially rough if you're like me and don't have a consistent mental image of yourself.

- In "Hot Allostatic Load," Porpentine described how her "aperture of time" (which I interpret as, if time were a space, how big the space that her sense of self took up was) was reduced to about a minute. This I greatly relate to. During my high, it was like my aperture of time was incredibly inflated and covering my entire life timeline at different multiple points.

- I would think, "Was I depersonalized the whole time as a kid? This feeling is so familiar."

- "Riding the edge of consciousness" like a totally tubular wave bro

- Of course, the physical symptoms: my eyes and my mouth were dry as hell. I was also dizzy and everything made me anxious. Depersonalization was terrifying to me. But weirdly, thinking about what it would be like to slowly come back was also anxiety-inducing. The process of coming back.

- if you were there you'd find me strangely deadpan but make no mistake, there was horror behind these empty eyes.

- I sometimes felt like I'd be in this state forever and everything would drive me to death.

- One of my two friends bought me hostess chocolate cupcakes which were amazing.

- They were so amazing keeping me company and everything and making sure I was okay. I'm so thankful that they were there to make things easier for me.

- The Spy Kids TV world would soon fade into black, and in its place, when I closed my eyes I'd only see a morphing image of a bunch of nostalgic shit from my memories blending together. I'd describe it as "Windows XP icons, Kuwaiti Fils coins, Arabic school textbook with colorful block Arabic letters." Everything I saw had this thick familiarity feeling, like a sap, coating my consciousness.

- It Gets Better

- as I was coming down from this high, I was horny, like, good warm fuzzy horny, and being in my bed, sleeping on my pillows tucked into my blanket, felt overwhelmingly great.

- It was 7 AM and the sunrise coming into my bedroom was warm and it felt pink. I thought "oh THIS is girlhood. Waking up in a bright morning with a Taylor Swift 2024 flag hanging above my head."

- I'm still recovering from the whole thing, trying to remember what being grounded in my body and the present moment feels like.

I didn't write this so I'd be like "don't do drugs kids drugs are bad." I wrote about this because I wanted to immortalize this moment in some art form. (Like a Tumblr post). If I had a moral with this it'd be "do drugs responsibly and surround yourself with friends who care about you and respect you"

So I just needed a place to let my thoughts out on Infinite Wealth. It is likely going to have a bit of controversial opinions and certainly a lot of spoilers about the game itself. Or perhaps just the story.

The first thing I want to say is I am going to be honest...I do not like the new cast of characters from LAD7. While others may enjoy Ichiban and Nanba and etc etc etc and all of them as is WELL within their right to do, I hate having to slog through dealing with the Ichicrew to get to the actual character beats and characters I actually CARE about in the franchise.

I also hate that Kiryu apparently, though he LITERALLY HAS FRIENDS, its decided that oh...he'd rather pal around with people seemingly much younger than him instead of going and seeing the 3jimas or something.

Yes, he does meet them later in the game itself and they initially rebuff coming to his aid, but I honestly am flabbergasted they never came sooner aside from just. Oh big reveal and then they aren't interacting again.

Like why isn't the 3jimas with him in the hospital, why does Haruka only visit? It is baffling to me.

I'll be honest, I consider the end of the series around Yakuza 3 because that was meant to be the end of the franchise [I believe] but then they kept going and the story seemed to just get repeated...several times but in different flavors. Kiryu should have rested then...

In general, it also hurts to just see Kiryu abandoning his friends for this new blood. And I'm well aware he isn't actually abandoning them but goddamn does the writing surely make it seem that way especially with how, despite you know....the bonds of brotherhood with Saejima, the bonds of fatherhood with Daigo, and the bonds of lovers with Majima [my own opinion lol]...those three just get shafted time and time again.

And we are meant to believe that Kiryu is a good person? That he cares about the people he cares for? When he can just go 'lol bye' and dip out?

Listen, I understand that isn't what was meant to be portrayed at all but I can't help but feel that is what it is like when RGG just seems to have him come by, dip out, come by, ask favors, dip out again. One could argue hes trying to keep people safe but it doesn't work and hasn't worked...

I mainly hate him doing that to Daigo and Majima in particular. Especially Majima who does and would do anything Kiryu ever asked of him and had done so time and time again. They are just so inexplicably tied together by red strings of fate, only for Kiryu to just bounce. [Not to mention how RGG just seems to have some sort of issue with realizing just how popular Majima is but then only bring him out as DLC or you know, ways to get money all the same.]

The Kashiwagi and Kiryu scene at the bar just broke my heart too, now the playthrough I was watching, I don't know if you can go back to talk to him but just the brief like...two minute meeting and then the rest being karaoke, it just...idk man. I wish I could have seen an actual cutscene of them truly speaking with one another in private or SOMETHING. You haven't seen each other in YEARS.

Even if you wanted to play off the pretend names and all that, at least if you are alone, have that conversation. Something. ANYTHING. A crumb.

Then Kiryu going to the 3jimas to ask favors and stuff of them to help with the situation. I'm glad we learned why the fuck the Security company fell apart but if I was the 3jimas, I would be reluctant in helping too like...you constantly leave us and dip out on us and the only time you come to us is when you need something? Wtf Kiryu?

Because you know the 3jimas would welcome Kiryu with open arms if he would just commit to actually being their...idk...friend? Maybe that is why I get annoyed with that Ichicrew because...you had three other people right there that Kiryu could have been running around with but no.

I love Kiryu, deeply, but damn if the writing isn't frustrating to no end at times but well, I guess it is because he is meant to be something the player can project on even if it makes his actions so idiotic at times.

Also, I don't wanna get into the whole cancer bullshit, the ending image of Kiryu looking like a goddamn person on death's bed was heartwrenching enough. I understand that Kiryu wasn't meant to be strong forever but did the writers really have to do the cop out of getting cancer while he was trying to help that one dude? Couldn't Kiryu just grow old and go the Komaki route of training the new crew but otherwise be left alone?

And now once again the 3jima's fates are also a bit nebulously up in the air...and at this point, I just wish they would let all the OGs rest. You now have like 6-7 people for the ichicrew and gang and all of that, stop shoehorning them in for a fanservice that serves for like 5-10 minutes in a 50 hour game or what have you.

Also RGG, stop killing off characters too early...RIP Hanawa....Have you not learned yet...Or if you kill off characters, then explain why others are alive. I am looking at you Andre Richardson, where the FUCK is Mine then [Who RGG also killed off way too soon.]

Anyway, I'm sure I have more to rant about but agh.

At the end of the day, I do hope people enjoy Infinite Wealth and I think people that adore the Ichicrew will enjoy the fuck out of this game, but for me and what I was looking out for...well it was disappointing to say the least.

hmm now that I think about it, they kind of ruled out possible romantic interests for our girl throughout the game didn't they? I mean is it just me or did they leave few possibilities open as romantic interests for the next game, I don't know if I'm making myself clear but I see it that way. If they really give love options for the ng, it makes some sense that in this game they would rule some out so they wouldn't make such a mess or something.

Or maybe they did it so they could make a single choice AHDGASASD I HOPE THAT IS THAT LAST ONE AND THAT KOTALLO IS THAT CHOICE

This is something I've been thinking for a while but thought it would be inconvenient to post it bcs idk people have their own shipps and they do what they want, so I don't want to be a party crasher or something (at least not without a reason) SO IF ANYONE COME AT ME FOR IT, I WAS JUST ANSWERING AN ASK (and I looove asks).

I agree that in FW they ruled out most of the NPCs with romantic possibilities, plus we all know they didn't include new ones (thank the ten I was getting annoyed by everyone hitting on her in every settlement). People flirt with her sure but tenakth are blunt and flirty no big deal (meaning Drakka and Gatakk)

This is chronologically ordered

Avad: Well, I think they did him a little dirty, making him ask again if she would change her whole way of life to live with him in Meridian? Didn't he told her he understood the last time? Why making him ask again??? As someone who even thought Meridian was a nice place during ZD that just made me want to flee, also the statue, people either calling her a savage or kissing her feet, is just literally not a place Aloy would want to be, the game reinforced that. "But liz, he said about renouncing and accompanying her on her travels" okay, you really think he would keep up? And her straight up answer was *shakes head* "You make it sound easy". Why did they made him pleading and clingy I have no idea.

Petra: Honestly I don't see her exactly "ruled out" tbh, Aloy just gets at chainscrape and it's a little harsh with her saying she's just passing through, but she's like that with everyone (there is only one that is an exception). Tho I believe she thinks of Petra more like a friend in this game.

Erend: Again, I think they did him dirty the same way with Avad but slightly worse. I know a few people disliked him complaining that she left the party without saying goodbye, but honestly I think that was a nice touch, you know to have people confront Aloy sometimes, it gives them depth and shows how her actions influence others, people are hard bcs they are different. But I think the dirty they did was: having him force his way TOO MUCH, I mean it bothered the fuck out of me at least, him wanting to be there but most of the time he's like "Yeah back to reading I guess", "I'll go back to look at this exciting data", and the worse of the bunch, forcing to go with her rescue Beta and the first thing he says in the cutscene is "this distress call had to he up a really steep mountain huh" and Aloy literally *sighs* and rolls her eyes, like, bro... He complains so often in this game I've lost count, that makes me think "BRO WHY ARE YOU HERE THEN", him backseating when you fight together giving you remarks if you go stealthy or telling you how to kill a machine, bro back off. And that not being enough, they even make Aloy discredit him a little. His self deprecation makes her roll her eyes, say his name and sigh. When they are about to go to GEMINI she literally says "Let's hope Erend can operate one without shooting himself in the face" and in a serious tone, wasn't a joke. I really think he was one of the most poorly treated in this game, I even don't see them ended up together doing him any good she wouldn't be so happy either. She doesn't have much faith in him and that makes his self deprecation worse. I just don't see that working well for either of them and guerrilla really wanted to show that.

Varl: Well, we see from the beginning that whatever crush they had on each other was a fleeting thing, acting more as friendly companions, and if that wasn't enough they smack you with Zo in the face right after. I know that I got >:( when she showed up lmao I'm sorry Zo but I was upset, I liked Varl's relationship with Aloy in ZD the most. And after that, well... we all know the drill

Talanah: She literally just showed up in this game to run around after a man :| that was after a woman that could be long dead. Really now looking at it Talanah is the one that they did most dirty actually wtf was that for. Honestly this shipp never clicked for me, I never noticed it, but I'm also dumb I guess, so take that in mind. And idk when Aloy talked to Amadis she said "so you and Talanah" and she was smiling, people are different but if I were talking to the person my crush dates I would not be smiling at them so spontaneously. But I don't even think there's more to say about this, plus the fact that she very likely could've stayed at the base but she didn't, I think she is also a carja at heart and would want to stay in Meridian.

Nil: I had such a crush on him its insane I screamed when I knew he was in the game (which was a spoiler bcs I HATE these gauntlet races) but honestly I think he was a wrong choice since ZD, this was reinforced by Aloy herself in FW (that he's very unhinged and killed bandits because he enjoys killing and stuff Aloy doesn't even know how to feel about him) he flirted with her and her answer was a thumbs up? Well not much to say

And generally, I think all of them would tie Aloy down somehow, Aloy likes traveling, exploring, learning about the old ones, you could really see Avad doing those? Petra is the only one from the above that wouldn't tie her down but would she accompany Aloy or would this be a distance relationship? Would she study old world like her? Explore ruins, hunt some machines? Erend we know very well does not like exploring ruins and studying data, very likely to tie her down as well. Talanah could match Aloy pretty well on those, but like I said, I doubt she would permanently leave Meridian and the legacy of her family.

But I'll say that those thoughts above just came to mind after Kotallo showed up, because he is way too perfect literally a tailored suit for Aloy, he ticks all the items on the checklist and I think this is absurdly suspicious

It's not a bad gane it's just not a good one imo

It started as like a B tier dark souls and then it kept rising and falling between from B to C to D to C back to just being okay again. Like not a even a actual B or C, just this state of okayness that was neither remarkable nor despicable.

Final boss is such a pain in the ass that I'm fine with just leaving it there.

It's not even a souls gane it's most accurately a somewhat generic action rpg that marketed itself as a dark souls like but was if anything more closely resembling God Eater which I'm pretty sure was a Bandi Namco rip off of Capcom's monster hunter but instead of monsters they were capital M. MONSTERS LIKE DEMOSN ITSNT THAH FUCKED UP and it's all just kinda messed amoung the grey.

I burned through it in like a week or so. Wanna say 40 hours. What a wasted 40 hours. Idk after awhile it just sucked and didn't get any better. Just kept sucking harder and harder til I just didn't care anymore was willing to skip cutscenes and entire areas just to get over it which I only do when a gane really gets on my nerves that much cause I make an effort to take everything in.

Like 3/10

This gane doesn't even feel like it deserves the title of dark souls like. It's a God Eater-er cause jt was essentially based on that series or whatever I couldn't even tell you what it was about cause it just kinda looks lame to me.

It just falls into the area of game like genshin impact and cookie run where the only fun your actually having is with the story and even then it's not enough to keep me hooked. I'm letting this white Whale go, I'm not starting beef with fish for Christ's sake.

time for my current totk thoughts bcuz im like, halfway i think thru main story and got all the geogylph memories! BIG SPOILERS AHEAD.

i think there is SO MUCH missing and it is depressing! like. the memories aren't enough. what do you mean we're going from zelda being like 'im so saaad i don't know how to time magic :(' and then suddenly time magics a flying knife?? and then sonia DIES? it feels like there is an entirely different game going on with zelda's wacky time-travel hijinks that we're missing due to only seeing glimpses and it feels very empty. idk if they'll fill the gaps with dlc or if this was just an issue of them rushing a game that needed a few more years to cook or what.

i hate the imperialism. all i hear is 'hyrule is ok and good bcuz it is run by pure good-natured imperialists vs those EVIL brown imperialists from the desert who are trying to do the same thing but EVILER.' i went from trying to vibe with rauru to rapidly disliking him.

ganondorf has the personality of an evil piece of cardboard but he's also hot so i give him a pass.

zelda has the personality of a good piece of cardboard and i'll give her a pass only for depressing me by being a soulless dragon flying around.

i think there is something to say about how the gerudo are not actually part of the hylian kingdom. even though they're all like 'we stand with u imperialist hyrule we wuv u!!' there is a very strong distinction that they are not ruled by the hylian monarchy. like. ganondorf was evil and vile for pressing back against rauru and waging war and not allowing the gerudo to merge with hyrule, and yet the gerudo still chose not to become one with hyrule. they just seemed to foster positive relations while maintaining their own as a separate entity. but who knows! maybe the game will prove me wrong and i'll eat my hat in rage!

the sage cutscenes are bland and bad. once again, cannot tell if the choice of copying and pasting each cutscene was a result of bad writing or the game not being allowed to cook long enough.

the depths keep making me pee my pants and i hate them but like just in a personal i rly hate the dark kinda way.

honestly back to the sages but they're bland in general as well. they tried to recreate the champions of old without any of the personality and feeling of connection to them. i do not give a single heck or darn about these sages, they just sure do exist as a means of passing on a power to the current champs. i feel this just makes their existence soulless and that they were just designed to be tools of rauru/means of furthering the plot. very boring.

i've been kinda irritated that a lot of npcs don't remember you. key ones do, like story-quest npcs, but like characters i've saved countless times in botw are like 'who r u'. and then characters are still SO surprised link is the heroic swordsman when it seems like this news otherwise traveled very quickly. i swing rapidly from delighted that npcs remember me and irritated when they don't, making it feel like botw didn't exist.

speaking of botw not existing. i get its because they wanna focus on zonai/avoid bogging the game down with more assets, but the lack of sheikah/guardian tech is really irritating. it's like everybody forgot about it. you cannot tell me they magically purged ALL of hyrule of any remnants of the guardian tech. also i know it is deranged to say it but i lowkey miss the panic of being chased down by guardians. it added a spice to the overworld.

overall... i just think botw is the better game?? which is not surprising, its hard for a sequel to surpass its predecessor, but i think they focused too much on new gimmicks and once again neglected the story, which is what i RLY care about. so once again i'm more invested in completing my funny lil side missions and leaving dragon zelda to rot in the skies.

one thing i've been thinking about vis a vis zack's kazu esque status is like. and i feel like i'd have to give all the crisis core cutscenes another rewatch to fully confirm this. but i think, generally speaking, a lot of people blow zack's facade out of proportion. and it's funny because it was that "zack fair is TIRED of this BULLSHIT" video that got me thinking about it but i watch that video and i'm like yknow. kazu would never do any of this. and sure, "kazu esque" is a completely arbitrary classification i made up for characters i enjoy, but the whole "zack is secretly really sad" thing is a concept i see people dig into a lot. a lot more than i think zack actually does it himself. zack is a spunky happy go lucky guy yes, but he also gets annoyed easily and he never shys away from expressing that. when sephiroth tells him the higher ups don't want him going on a mission because they're worried his personal feelings will get in the way of obeying orders, he says, "well of course!". he's not masking anything for anyone by this point. i don't think he's masking for aerith either, not with his bravado and not to hide his discontent. a HUGE difference in this to me is to look at some of their lowest points. for kazu, when he gets found out, and for zack, when angeal dies. kazu did not seek out his friends. not once. not even slightly. the only reason anything even happened was because saku noticed he was slipping up in his performance. kazu never intended any of them to find out about anything, not after he decided he needed to keep this up in order to hold himself together. but he fell apart, and they noticed, and they helped. kazu does not hug haru back in this moment, and he never asked him to come. zack on the other hand, GOES to aerith. we don't see zack explain to her what happened, he sits in the middle of the church with his back faced to her, crying. he does not hug aerith back, but he still reached out. aerith didn't find HIM, he found HER. kazu would not have done that.

zack's facade isn't something that comes into effect until after nibelheim, and it's only ever to cloud. emphasis on AFTER NIBELHEIM. zack is a friendly guy, i don't think any of their interactions before this were built on trying to. idk keep up the rose tinted idea cloud had in his head of what soldiers were like. and in nibelheim, when cloud prods, zack tells him outright how he feels. zack is angry, he's upset, he's confused, oh but he's a soldier so who cares, he's just paid to hit stuff, not ask questions. he TELLS cloud this. it's only after all they went through in the mansion's basement that zack starts putting up a front, and again, just for cloud. when he sees genesis, lazard, cissnei, he's still just as angry and upset as he was before. he just keeps the smile on for cloud, and maybe himself too in a way. to hold onto normalcy. and so because of this, perhaps because it's how his character goes out, smiling, despite it all, this is were people decide he would continue being if he lived. idk that that's true though!!! like honestly i don't think The Facade was actually that big of A Thing for zack. he smiles and pats his head and makes sure to tell cloud how things are going great whenever he's around, because jesus christ!!! cloud is dying!!!!! cloud is POISONED!!!!!!! he didn't lie to cloud about how fucked shit was when cloud was FINE, but cloud is barely conscious, you think zack is gonna be venting his frustrations to his sick friend?? no!!! he's gonna sit there and smile and tell him everything is gonna be okay!!!! and i don't think that would carry over for long, if zack lived. i mean especially not to cloud, who would absolutely call him on his bullshit. so anyway. my point. i feel like, above all the other arbitrary traits on my kazu esque list, masking all emotions and having a facade is, to me, the most defining of what makes a character kazu esque. and so while YES, i think there are other traits i would classify zack being kazu esque for, i feel like THIS trait in particular regarding zack is one blown WAYYYY out of proportion. zack doesn't actually hide how he feels all that much, he's just a nice guy who also has the capacity to get upset about things. he's multidimensional and he shows that. so. a zack/kazu parallels dissertation may or may not happen, we'll see!

my sibling came to visit me this weekend and we continued our bg3 honor mode multiplayer playthrough (^ this is my honor mode oathbreaker paladin/warlock, minerva. she broke her oath because we let auntie ethel live)

we are now 20 hours in, done with most things in act 1 including the underdark, but we did *severely* fuck up the goblin/grove situation, and we don't know if we can now salvage it. but here's what happened:

first we killed everyone in the goblin camp courtyard by poisoning the alcohol and picking off everyone who was left. relatively easy

I was going to drink priestess gut's sleeping potion and then let korilla take care of her for us, but... I forgot that as a half-elf my tav can't be magically put to sleep, lol. so gut attacked us, and this fight ended up being WAY more difficult than it needed to be because we were underleveled and half the goblins outside the room got involved as well as the zhent traders, and now they're all dead too. oops. but at least we are alive

then, later on, here comes mistake #1. we tried to keep minthara alive by stealing something, making her temporarily hostile, and knocking her out. that all seemed to work. since were were out of spell slots entirely and quite low on healing potions, we long rested before taking out dror ragzlin and freeing halsin. DO NOT LONG REST, we have learned

both of those fights go off relatively easily, we took out dror ragzlin in like 2-3 rounds and then halsin's fight goes off without a hitch.

then, we ask halsin to join us in our party. I think this was when we realized we had made a mistake. all of the goblin leaders are "dead" (or knocked out, in minthara's case) but halsin won't let us leave the camp because he says we have unfinished business.

we try to see if minthara got back up since we long rested, but it turns out she just completely despawned, probably set off on her way to moonrise in the nude. sazza is still there, alive, because we had knocked her out too, but when we go to talk to her it triggers a cutscene conversation *with minthara* despite her being nowhere to be seen outside of the cutscene. we try to kill sazza permanently and see if halsin will let us leave now, but he still angrily tells us we have unfinished business. so we ask him to stay while we go do other things. he's mad but stays put while we say peace out and leave

we go to the grove to see if, maybe, we can resolve the conflict on that end. we talk to zevlor, investigate kagha in the swamp, fight some mephits and wood woads, lose an eye, fight auntie ethel, expose the shadow druids, kill kagha anyways, steal the idol... but still, nothing. we cannot progress to the tiefling party unless we "kill" minthara, who no longer exists, as far as the game is concerned.

so we are at an impasse. we can't choose to turn on the grove now because minthara disappeared and everyone in goblin camp is dead, and we can't get halsin to leave the camp and come to the grove because he doesn't believe us that everyone is dead.

we can't trigger the tiefling party to advance either of our romances (not the biggest deal in honor mode but lol I'm still trying to hold out hope on romancing astarion and despite having high approval he still hasn't propositioned me. we did manage to miss the bite scene early on and he confessed his vampirism voluntarily when we got to the underdark, so maybe it's not possible to romance him now? idk, I'm not really sure how that works. I still have gale as my backup stay-at-camp wife though)

so now, our only option seems to be to proceed into the mountain pass/act 2. this is just speculation, but I am guessing that we will lose halsin which will make us unable to cure the shadow-cursed lands, and I am guessing we will probably lose the tieflings too since we didn't technically *resolve* the goblin conflict and the road to baldur's gate isn't "safe" for them?

ugh. pain

I do not want to restart this

an additional funny element -- my sibling's light cleric has a seemingly permanent enemy of justice condition for having killed a goblin camp guard. it's stuck around for at least two long rests now, and we don't know if it will ever go away. they might just have to use disguise self anytime we are around goblins from now on, lol.

all of this because we wanted to save the hot drow lady. godsdammit.

moral of the story, as best I can tell: if you are going to attempt a minthara rescue/redemption mission, don't do it on honor mode. don't long rest, and don't let halsin join your party on the way out of camp

Computer at repair shop

Because of Christmas, I'm getting my computer back at maybe Wednesday but my family has planned to go visit my grandparents for a couple days mid next week so idk when I'll get it back exactly. I have all the files on my backup USB stick but there wasn't enough space on it for all of the programs I use (godot, medibang paint pro, lmms, pencil2d etc) and the computer I'm using currently (my dad's backup work laptop) doesn't have them already installed and I don't want to install a bunch of software on here (also the specs of this laptop aren't the best: the fan goes crazy with too many firefox tabs open, so i'm not even sure if programs like godot will run if it can't even run roblox theme park tycoon 2 without the fan being on full blast).

I'm saying this here as this maybe the last update of this year, and I don't want to leave on a dissapointing note of "oh i still haven't even gotten the art for the bakery drawn yet and it's the first fricking shop you encounter". Please keep in mind that next year is going to be a busy one for me because of my GCSEs (very very important exams which decide what college I can go to, which decides what uni I can go to, which decides my entire future). I won't have much free time on the easter holidays and the next long break I get from school (with no revision stuff) is the summer holidays so expect this blog to be going crazy then. I promise I'll not let this take years and years but please be considerate about stuff like the failed drive transplant of my computer causing it to not power on (knocked a wire out while replacing the HDD with an SSD).

Anyway I'll be getting my new mic tomorrow at Christmas which according to dad is "a good one". My headset mic refuses to be recognised on my computer so I've asked for a USB mic as the built in mic on my computer sucks. I also want to rewrite a bunch of cutscenes that I've already written to make them better (I have to revoice them all anyway and the dialogue system has changed so I would have to remake them anyway). This video is now cut from the game, minor spoilers (like 1 line) but you'll forget about it by the time the game comes out. It plays right after the tutorial battle if you accept the paper that teaches you how to do a pacify spell. Due to it's length and the fact that the old dialogue auto progresses all the time, I made it a video to avoid coding it all. When rewriting it, I'll make it shorter and organise everything better. Also it won't all be voiced, just the important lines. I feel like I gave away too much info with Lady Roselyn in this conversation which doesn't fit her character, so I'll limit the amount she says in the final piece (she is a spy after all). At risk of sounding Stupid™️ what's the reasoning for Osiris being a meat puppet clone instead of possessed? I was kind of hoping he was possessed, bc then some of the borderline sweet interactions we got in the last few seasons with crow/Amanda/Saladin/caiatl could still be "real" and not just a deception. Like the idea of him being possessed without realizing it and slowly losing control (to now, where he clearly has no control over his actions) is interesting to me, is the argument against it just that he's too smart to be deceived that way or is there more to it than that? I'm certainly not an Osiris expert so idk if that's just too out of character for him even after losing sagira

I also first thought he could be possessed or taken or something like that, but as things went on and his behaviour gradually got worse, it became harder for me to accept that he wouldn't eventually break out of Savathun's control. I also believe that Savathun would've been risking it a lot more if she was just trying to control the real Osiris because if he slipped from her control even for a shortest amount of time, the whole scheme would fail.

Having her own meat puppet clone is much safer and she can keep an eye on real Osiris (which is presumably imprisoned somewhere in her court). This is important because having the real Osiris means she can use him as a bargaining chip later when she needs it.

Another point is that if she was simply controlling real Osiris, she would have access to more information immediately as he's participating in interactions with others. But the Osiris we've had for the past 3 seasons has been saying some things that are outright wrong AND he's also been curiously silent about the whole Vex Network business going on in this season. I'd assume he'd be talking about it A LOT, especially with Mithrax, but he only talks to Mithrax to antagonise him. Something that Osiris wouldn't do because real Osiris was telling Saint to talk to Mithrax back in Season of the Worthy. He was also saying that the House of Light cause is just in the same weblore. Curiously, this weblore is a record of a private conversation between Saint and Osiris. So only the real Osiris would know about it. This is just one of many examples.

There are too many inconsistencies and weird things that have happened in the past three seasons. Simply possessing the real Osiris and releasing him back to the City is too risky. If he breaks from her control, Savathun loses him.

Also, important to note, is the whole business of someone in the City being under her control and exhibiting weird body horror instances. Most notably in Ripe. I want to make sure people understand that Osiris, when he's not in combat, takes off his helmet/mask. He has never taken them off since Season of the Hunt. We have not seen anything besides his eyes for three seasons, and that includes him in interactions with people in lore.

Perhaps THE most important point for why it's a meat puppet/clone: we've had no lore from his POV since Immolant and he's been a major character in all three seasons since. He otherwise has a lot of lore from his POV. To have nothing from him, even if he's possessed, is very strange, because it would be so easy to show us hints of possession by showing us lore from his POV and possible slips from Savathun's control.

I really wanted for some of the interactions to be with the real Osiris too, especially with Crow. Man, Crow has had Osiris as a mentor for 6 months and it's not even Osiris. Poetic cinema parallel with Uldren and how he spent so much time thinking he's communicating with Mara, but it was Riven (and by extension, Savathun; Savathun leave Crow alone challenge).

I hope this was somewhat coherent and helpful. There's really A LOT of content for how this whole theory works and it's 3 seasons worth of hints and details in lore. Today's cutscene was 100% proof for it. Real Osiris would not have stood there watching as Saint is about to be killed by the Vex, again. A part of him would show an attempt to escape Savathun's control or we would have some other hint for it in some way. Remember, real Osiris managed to briefly escape being nailed to a rock by Xivu Arath's Hive magic in Immolant Pt. 2. He is capable of breaking through Hive shenanigans, even for a brief moment. We would've seen him attempting it in the past 6 months by now or there would've been some hint one way or another.

Class had been over for hours, and now you were sitting on the floor of your freshly cleaned dorm room, bored out of your mind. Debating on starting up a movie and heading to bed early or playing some game on your phone, you let out an audible groan, frustrated from the lack of entertainment.

It was Friday night. You should’ve been asking if any of the third years were throwing some sort of party that you’d debate going to or up in the common room kitchen making food.

But now your fingers were typing away at the keyboard on your phone to 'Kami’ in your contacts, asking if he’d be down to stop your boredom from becoming fatal.

And in a matter of exactly four minutes and twenty-seven seconds, he was at your door with snacks and his own game console so you could play Mario Kart.

“You are an actual life saver.” You hug him quickly and pull him into your room, admiring the choice of outfit. It was most definitely his pajamas, a pair of loose grey sweats with a graphic tee that had some sort of video game reference on it.

“Anything for you, plus I was getting bored too.” The tone in his voice made your heart flutter. And the three words - anything for you - made your face burn. He was always so suave, even in the times that his charm was more comedic than it was actually charming.

“What should we do first?” You ask, sitting beside him, knee touching knee as you glanced at him and then back to your tv.

“Maybe watch a spooky movie.” Kaminari wiggled his fingers at you, leaning in and tickling your sides as you tensed and started laughing.

“Okay okay! We’ll watch a scary movie. You just want an excuse to cuddle me when you get scared.” You teased him back for tickling you. Kaminari rolls his eyes and shakes his head.

“You’ll be scared during this one, it’s just come out, and the trailer had everyone going crazy.” Kaminari explained while he helped you find the movie. Turning off the lights, you returned with a blanket and tucked the two of you under it nice and cozy.

It had never felt weird between the two of you, like when you held hands or cuddled. You’d been Kaminari’s friend since entrance exams, and you’d been best friends since the first week of school.

And now that your heart longed to be more than just a friend or a best friend, holding his hand or cuddling with him filled that sort of odd space in your heart.

And Kaminari was the same. He enjoyed feeling your hand in his, or having your arms wrapped around his waist while you laid exhausted in his bed after a day of training in the gym.

He’d been crushing on you since day one, you were the one girl that never pushed him away, or dodged all his advances, you were sweet but tough, kind and sharp, you were everything Kaminari loved.

Slinging his arm around your shoulder, he pulled you closer to him so he could rest his head on yours, his eyes flicking from actually paying attention to the movie to paying attention to you, to the way your fingers with chipped nail polish would reach for some popcorn and then retreat back to laying over his.

Whenever a jumpscare or scary part of the movie appeared, you’d both huddle into each other, too scared to try and make a witty remark about the both of you being wusses.

And finally when the movie had come to an end, an hour and a half had passed. You sat in the darkness while the credits rolled, giggling about the funny parts of the movie.

“And when the slasher was actually just walking and he still killed them, come on now! It’s not that hard to survive.” Kaminari groaned, frustrated that the plot had been so predictable.

“And you would survive one of these scenarios?” You smile, calling Kaminari out on his bullshit.

“I know I would. Because I would have you on my team.” Kaminari hums, flicking the tip of your nose. Your face scrunches up from the sting of impact. You shove him playfully and he pulls you over on top of him.

You sit on his lap and sigh.

“I mean If I wouldn’t die I guess I can’t let you die either.” You laugh, staring into his golden eyes.

“Have you had your first kiss yet?” Kaminari asked blindly. You’re taken aback by the question, it had come out of nowhere.

“I haven’t. But please don’t make fun of me because have you had your first kiss?” You raise your eyebrows, praying he hadn’t.

“I have. I’ve kissed lots of people.” Kaminari lied, trying to seem cool. He was shitting himself, he had the chance, the opening, the timing, it was all perfect. You were sitting in his lap, your fingers playing with the collar of his sleep shirt, all he had to do was lean in and kiss you.

Surely it wasn’t that hard. It was a kiss. He’d seen people do it in movies several times, countless times, and he’d heard from Mina that kissing was super intimate even just little playful kisses.

Surely he could do this.

“Are you listening to me?” You pull Kaminari out of his thoughts but he’s quick to answer your question, pressing his lips to yours. It’s short, very short, and a bit awkward. His lips fit against yours, and right when you go to kiss him back, he’s gone, pulling away from you to grin at you.

“Kami did you-”

“Was it good?” Kaminari asks, beaming with excitement. You smile and shake your head.

“It lasted for like three seconds, if you’re gonna kiss me, kiss me like you mean it dummy, like this.” You lean in and press your lips to his. You were new to this, and judging by that kiss, you knew that he’d lied.

You guided his lips with your own, going off of what just felt right. Kissing wasn’t rocket science, it was a discovery, a journey, you just had to know how to lead and follow.

Pulling away when you needed to breathe, Kaminari was breathless, literally and figuratively. He stared at you with pink cheeks, awestruck by the kiss he’d just had with you.

“I thought you said you hadn’t kissed anyone!” Kaminari wasn’t upset, but he was curious as to how you’d kissed so well.

“I haven’t.” You were telling the truth, letting your arms rest on his shoulders you rested your forehead against his.

“Then how-”

“I don’t know.” You cut him off, laughing. Kaminari sighed and pressed another gentle and shy kiss to your lips, still unsure of how to really kiss you. It was sweet, but you reassured him that it wasn’t all that hard. You moved his hands to sit on your hips as you kissed him back, leaning more into the kiss.

Kaminari sat up some, taking the lead and finally showing some confidence. When he pulled away, it was your turn to be flustered. You looked away, trying to hide your red cheeks from him but his hands were quick to deter your movements.

“I do.” You cut him off once more, finally looking back at him. Kaminari sighed and leaned back against your bed, happy to know that his feelings were mutual. You giggle and tug on his hands to pull him back up.

“Everyone already thinks we’re a couple ya know.” You tease, rubbing your thumbs over his knuckles.

“I know, believe Sero and Kirishima both keep telling me to make a move already and well I have now but I’m glad I did because god you are just so perfect and I was so scared that you didn’t like me and that I was just stuck in the friend-zone.” Kaminari pouted.

“Are you kidding?! I thought I was being friend-zoned! You’re always so flirty I was just like ‘oh my god he’s gonna reject me if I ask him out.’“ You laugh at your past thoughts, finding it funny that had you just trusted your heart you would’ve been together sooner.

“Why on Earth would I reject you?! You’re smart, funny, beautiful, pretty, beautiful.” Kaminari’s eyes are wide with admiration as he stares at you, a goofy grin on his lips as he holds you closer to him, letting you lay against his chest.

“You’re pretty too, Kami.” You compliment him, kissing his cheek delicately before resting your head back on his shoulder.

“Awe, thank you. No one’s ever called me pretty before.” Kaminari’s hands rub your back, tracing little shapes on your shirt as the two of you talk.

“Well you are beautiful so now you have.” You smile.

“Can I take you out tomorrow?” Kaminari asks, he didn’t have much money, but what he did have, he would most certainly use to at least take you to get a drink at a café or something.

“Of course.” You hug him, embracing the comfortable warmth he was radiating.

“Wanna watch me beat some bad guys on my new video game?” Kaminari offers some more entertainment and you’re quick to respond, hopping off of his lap so you can watch the screen.

You lay with your head in his lap, his hands playing with your hair whenever his screen was loading or during a cutscene.

You eventually fell asleep, Kaminari managing to turn off the console shortly after to doze off with you.

The next day would bring more laughs, more kisses, and more time with Kaminari, and a few congratulations from your classmates who had seen the relationship coming from miles away.

It stuck out to me that Dain specified that "the gods descended and destroyed Khaenri'ah" cuz Barbatos and Morax were never in Celestia (I can't remember if Barbatos briefly went with Venessa but even then he was for what ten minutes lol) ANNNNND the only power we see in the destruction of it (in that one trailer) is the Sustainer's. I highly doubt the god of freedom (and love) and a god who knows when to let humanity do its own thing were even remotely part of that destruction- I'm quite sure the gods Dain spoke of were the Celestial gods, not the ones in Teyvat. And if you think about it, Khaenri'ah being destroyed could be why the majority of the Archons we know about oppose/don't care about Celestia

My guess is Dain is assuming all gods are the same, but they're very much not. Also, while I'm at it I wanna point out that ppl in game insist on calling Venti useless and lazy or even imply he's bad... meanwhile Baal is over there blocking off her entire region and taking away Visions and no one (in canon) says a single word against that. How is Venti always talked about like he's some huge problem when Baal and even Tsaritsa are right there being actual menaces (from what we understand so far)... it makes no sense. Ppl are so mean to Venti even if he's not around and for what... what has the god who's always fought for humanity's freedom and happiness done to hurt anyone I just do not understand, I cannot see Venti doing anything of what Dain said. That goes against his entire being...

Dain even contradicts himself multiple times and kept the fact he knows the sibling a secret... for what??? Why is he so sketchy?? Frankly I don't trust him, especially if this theory holds any merit

All this being said, if Venti is actually evil somehow I'll take it I love villains😅😂 But it could also be true that Khaenri'ah was not as great as Dain made it sound... coulda been evil or plotting smth terrible for all we know. He was cursed after all (if I'm understanding right), and literally no one else that we're aware of has been cursed. If Visions are divine blessings then curses are divine punishments... Visions are given to extraordinary ppl and/or those who have suffered greatly; they're given to help ppl. Curses tho... you gotta really fuck up to be cursed I assume.

Last thing before I'm done rambling I am so so sorry I just have a lot of thoughts about all this: in the chapter outline video Dain literally tells us to 'defeat him and command him to step aside' after saying "we (humanity) will defy this world with a power from beyond". Idk about anyone else but that kinda sounds like "sure I wanna destroy the world, but you can stop me". And isn't changing the world what Tsaritsa and the Fatui (and the Abyss Order??) are doing... Dain why are you against the gods who seemingly have the same goal as you

Yep yep, as ive said before i havent thought the gods dain had mentioned can also be referred to the gods of celestia so it’s my fault for not understanding it well. And iirc venti isnt really fond of celestia which is why he gave his gnosis to the tsaritsa who is going against them

This really saddens me a lot that they view venti as an irresponsible archon when in fact he has done lots of things to keep his nation safe

Rebelling against the aristocracy to stop it during the time of Vennessa, waking up when he heard the cries of his people when Durin was attacking Mond, and even helping out in stopping Dvalin’s corruption

When they say Venti's "irresponsible" it's.. scary

He was given responsibility for the whole nation and was brave enough to accept it. He worked hard for years,sacrificed his power for people's freedom. He still risks his life regularly

Venti has more to it than meets the eye and it just needs a better understanding of him yet they keep looking on his current state. Like how often he goes to the tavern for a drink or laze around. Venti’s done lots of things okay T^T even during the Windblume, he helped us out in assisting his students from afar.

Now this is something that piqued my interest as i was reading theories in the subreddit.

In his outro, it seems that the Traveller will be forced to fight him in the future, to save the Traveller's Sibling--"Defeat me, command me to step aside, show me that you are worthier than I to rescue her.

Then, the threads of all fate will be yours to re-weave." It's unclear who the hero or the villain is in this situation. Is it Dainsleif, holding the Traveller's Sibling hostage? Or is it the Traveller's Sibling, who is about to set the world into ruin with Dainsleif wanting to stop them?

Only time will tell but if anything's for certain, things are not as black and white as it may seem.

Dainsleif really be suspicious and acting mysterious. His dislikeness towards the gods is what got my interest so much. There must be a reason why he doesn’t like them. Even towards the archons of Teyvat, Dain doesn’t seem to be so fond of them and we can see that when were about to go the Favonius Church to ask Barbara

Anyways— my brain is still processing all of these informations and im just reading all the lores i can find LMAO for now i still have to rewatch all cutscenes then go back to these theories and continue to dig some more
