So, smth random, but I had an idea regarding the Power Stones [I'm renaming them to Power Crystals]. The idea is p much the cast ending up being able to use magic at will.

So, for y'all's who don't know abt Power Crystals since that post is so long ago, here's an explanation + some changes/additions here n der:

The crystals contains magic, and they act similar to a battery. Their power diminishes as you use it, but they can recharge overtime. The larger the attack, longer the recharge time.

-Imagine it like this-

100% -> Small Attack -> 95% -> 3s Recharge Time (Back To 100%)

100% -> Big Attack -> 80% -> 10s Recharge Time

If it was back to back, then the time will add up.

Idk if I should decrease recharge time when they use the weapon without using magic. Like the equivalent of using a Basic Attack instead of a Skill when you've run out of Skill Points.

Anyway, you can tell how much magic a crystal has left from the brightness of its' colour;

Brightest = Max Capacity

Dim, close to black = Low On Power

The main part abt this explanation is the fact that Power Crystals cannot be used by just anyone.

I dunno how, where and when they'd get these crystals, but I had a dream once where they p much for on adventures that allows them to get it. Like a 'story quest' for each one of them. They do smth that ends up resonating with the characters and ending up crystallizing into- well, the crystals.

That would be why nobody can use the crystal but the person themselves.

I did make them to be part of their end-game weapons, but I want to change them to accessories. Example for this would be... Imagine Pibby getting her crystal, it turns into a ribbon accessory.

I'd imagine by the end, final battle probably, that they get accustomed to using magic that the crystals don't need to exist anymore. They'll be able to use magic on their own.

Just, some thoughts I wanted to share because I have a list, specifically the types of magic that each of them would have.

Back to back smols? Who could have seen that coming?

This one was suggested by Clover. Time for the first meeting story! Always fun.

It was a cold and rainy day when Hajime found himself in his living room with his classmate, doing the dreaded homework assignments. And after requesting to his host, he brought along the naga in his care.

“Thank you both again for letting us come over. I was really having trouble with this work. I have such a hard time understanding what the professor is saying. And also, I’m sure Komaru is enjoying seeing something else besides my plain and boring face,” Makoto expressed with a smile, writing down another answer.

“I disagree. You are not boring in the slightest,” Nagito called out from where he and Komaru were. Both were laying on some heated rocks under a lamp, warming up to battle the cold that the chilly rain brought in. Usually they were in Nagito’s terrarium. But the nagas had wanted to be close by so Hajime moved them to be in the living room with them. Hence why the emerald green naga could be heard when he interjected.

Makoto turned to look over at the two, smiling when he saw them both relaxed and happy on the rocks. “I appreciate it. Though I will say yours is probably nicer to look at than mine.”

Hajime smirked as he also added his input. “I can confirm his face is nice to look at. As one who has a ton of experience, I claim the title of expert.”

Even from across the room, the humans could see the tiny creature’s cheeks explode with red. He buried his face into his hands and Komaru laughed. The naga could hand out compliments all day, but couldn’t take them nearly as well.

After a few chuckles, both humans looked over to the window where it was raining buckets. “It’s really coming down. Reminds me of the day we found Komaru.”

Hajime nodded. “Same with when I first met Nagito. But I think it was storming a little worse that evening. Cold too.”

Makoto looked over with a thoughtful and curious expression. “Oh yeah, I don’t think you’ve told me how you met. What happened?”

The older of the two leaned back to rest his back against the couch, staring up at a ceiling grate. “Well, our first meeting was definitely not all smiles and cuddles. That’s for sure.”

Hajime looked out the window before closing the blinds. Yup, it was nasty outside. A cold rainstorm with harsh winds. Not weather anyone would want to be inside in.

Thankfully, he had no need to go out for a while. It was the start of the weekend and he had no plans to go out. He had plenty of food and the heating was on. So he was all set for a lazy weekend in.

He sat down on his bedroom chair, leaning back on it and grabbing his phone. Might as well get his laziness started and he began scrolling through the internet and checking his messages.

This occupied his time for a good long while. And it consumed all his attention. So much so that he failed to notice anything different. Such as something moving through the vents above him, accompanied by pants and grunts.

What did break him out of his internet trance was the sound of the vent opening, yells, and something plopping right onto his head.

That stunned him into stillness, trying to figure out what had fallen on him. The thing on him was very much the same, as still and silent as it could be, aside from pants from exertion.

Carefully reaching over to his bed, he grabbed a pillow and raised it up to his head. He tilted his cranium, feeling whatever it was slid off and onto the plush surface. Just as slowly, he lowered the pillow to see the home intruder.

To his surprise, it was not anything he expected to see. Both in his room or in his life.

On the pillow lay a naga, tiny, emerald scales, sopping wet, and glaring at him while hissing. His fangs were on display and he was positioned in what he assumed was the naga version of a strike pose.

Knowing that the naga was probably terrified out of his mind, he assumed a calm expression and slowly lowered the pillow to the floor. He then made a show of backing away. “It’s okay. I have no intention to hurt you. And I won’t touch you.” He stood up, the naga’s eyes following his every move. He left the room to go to the bathroom, grabbing a hand towel.

“He must have been hiding in the vents from the storm. It’s much warmer and drier so it’s no wonder he chose that,” Hajime muttered to himself as he left the bathroom door open a crack. He returned to his room to see the naga had slithered off the pillow and was now hiding behind it. The tiny green eyes glared at him, another hiss audible while his tail tip vibrated rapidly. Hajime knew enough about snakes to know that was a sign of an agitation.

“Listen. I intend to keep my word. I will make no physical contact with you until you give consent to it. All I want to do is help you not get sick.” He placed the hand towel on the pillow, far enough away that he wasn’t in striking distance. He then backed up again and sat on his bed. “Tell me if you need anything. Food, a dry towel, a different source of warmth. Just let me know,” he offered, laying down on his bed.

He didn’t get any reply. Not that he expected one. He was sure this was not an easy experience for the tiny snake. So Hajime did his best to ease the tension by not looking over in that direction. He hoped that not having eyes on him would help to relax the naga. So he busied himself by beginning to look up facts about nagas on his phone. Their diets, their temperature preferences, what things they found comfortable. He got interesting results and he read up on the subjects as much as he could. He wasn’t sure how long the naga would have to stay here, on account of the weather being terrible. But he did intend to help it be a more comfortable one.

And when he rolled over to grab his charger, he caught a glimpse of the naga in his room. He had the towel wrapped around his shoulders and tail, shivering a little bit less now. That eased Hajime a bit. And he made a mental note to turn the temperature up the next time he was close to the thermostat.

The communication between the two during the weekend and the following days were… minimal to say the least.

Hajime checked in on his guest a few times a day, asking questions and offering both food and other items to try and help. But all was refused with hisses. The naga had dragged the pillow and propped it against the wall, creating a small tunnel for him to hide in. The towel was also kept, the naga having it around him every time he saw him.

But it was clear that the tiny snake was growing more tired and hungry with each passing day. His hisses didn’t carry as much volume as the first encounter and the tail vibrations happened less and less. Until the fifth day when nothing occurred besides a tiny hiss.

Hajime wasn’t sure on what to do. He refused to break his word on not making contact. But he was running out of options. How could he show to this creature that his intentions were good?

This desperation led to him sitting near the pillow, holding plate with warm pieces of raw steak that he thought the naga could eat. And something else in a warm mug full of water that he had specially went out to buy. He took a deep breath and released it. “Hey, you have to be hungry. Do you want any of this?” he asked, placing the plate of steak near the pillow.

No movement and no sound. That was concerning. He had hoped that there would have been some reaction. But perhaps… a different type of food was necessary.

So he took the plate back and used a pair of tongs to pull out what he had in the mug, a small pinkie mouse that had been frozen earlier that he managed to thaw out. He had read that nagas were capable of eating human food, but sometimes their snake instincts would take control when weak or hungry. Therefore, it would be better to provide food that their snake side would prefer. Such as mice.

Hajime took the pinkie by the tail and carefully dangled it in front of the entrance of the pillow crevice. He wiggled it around to simulate movement too. And this ended up being the ticket, as a flash of green darted out and sank fangs into the mouse. Hajime released the tong’s grip and leaned back with a smile. “There we go. Now you can get some nutrients.”

The green eyes flashed over to him, his whole body freezing as he realized he was being watched. But Hajime already had planned to leave him be to eat, so he grabbed his things and left the room, placing the steak chunks into the fridge and leaving the dishes in the sink. He could wash them later. For now, he wanted to sit on his couch. He had a reading to do for class.

The book was boring, as a lot of college texts were. Which meant that he wasn’t all too engaged with it. And it also assisted in him hearing a miniature voice clear their throat near his feet.

Knowing only one possible reason for this, Hajime was slow in his movements as he looked down. Sure enough, the naga was there, staring up at him with a defensive, but curious expression. “Why? Why are you doing this?” he asked, voice raspy from little use.

“Why what? Providing you shelter? Feeding you? Leaving you be when not trying to get you to eat?”

“All of it. It doesn’t make sense to me. Humans are cruel hunters. So why are you being… so nice?” The naga pulled the hand towel tighter around himself, as if trying to provide some comfort.

Hajime shrugged. “I know this may seem unbelievable, but I only want to help you get better. I try to help when someone is in trouble. No matter what the species. That’s just who I am.” He leaned over carefully, happy when the naga didn’t hiss or back away. He also took note that the midsection of his snake half was a bit more plump. “You can leave whenever you want. I'm just glad that I was able to find something you could eat. Was it enough? I have more for you if you need another. Got a whole package.”

The green reptilian eyes widened. “You… got the mice… just for me?”

Hajime nodded. “I would be a pretty terrible host if I couldn’t properly feed my guests.”

“You see me as a guest? Not a pest or animal?” The naga looked dumbfounded, as if the idea was entirely alien.

“That’s right,” Hajime confirmed. “So do tell me if there’s anything I can do to make your stay easier. I'm at your service.”

The naga blushed a little, looking off to the side. He then caught sight of the window, an idea sparking. But it took a little before he ultimately voiced this. “If… if you are telling the truth… there is… one thing I would like.”

That intrigued the human, who raised an eyebrow. “Oh? What is it?”

Clasping his own wrist hard to calm himself, the naga looked over to him again. “I would like to request to… see outside the window. But don’t get any funny ideas! I will bite if I think you are up to something!” he warned, baring his venomous fangs for him to see.

That… had not been a request he expected. But he was still fine to do so. He would admit that the threat of being bitten was a bit nerve wracking, but he still nodded and carefully lowered his hand to the floor. “I can do that. I’ll go slow. And I’ll be extremely vigilant about my movements.”

The emerald snake stared long and hard at the hand offered to him. He seemed to be psyching himself up. But after a few minutes of patience, the creature finally moved towards him. The scales made contact with his skin, sliding effortlessly across as the tail wrapped around his wrist and fingers to provide stability. Once he was sure of the naga’s position, Hajime raised his hand as gently as he could, keeping an eye on the reactions of the small one he was carrying.

He raised him up to the window, positioning him directly in the sunlight. Almost instantly, the tension the naga had melted once he saw and felt the sunlight. “The rain is gone. And it’s so pretty outside with the moisture reflecting the light. And so so warm. Perfect for basking.” He relaxed, his coils drooping as he smiled. “You are truly lucky to have such a nice view. Not as much human development in this direction. Lots of sunlight here. I could easily sleep here for hours.”

Hajime was a bit surprised as how talkative the naga had become once he was comfortable. But it was certainly not a bad thing. “I’m glad to help. By the way, what’s your name? Mine’s Hajime.”

The snake person broke his stare at the outdoors to look at him again. “I guess you have earned the right to know mine. It’s Nagito.”

Hajime smiled. “Nagito the naga. It suits you.”

He actually got a smile back before Nagito looked back outside. “Now then, we shall stay here in the sun for a while. You don’t mind, do you?”

“And then he never left,” Hajime concluded, shrugging his shoulders with a grin. “Guess the appeal of being pampered and looked after was too great in comparison to life outdoors.”

Both he and Makoto glanced over to the bright green snake, who nodded lazily. “I can get whatever I want and need here. The choice was obvious. Now I never go hungry. And Hajime makes incredible food. I’ll probably have a hard time going back to raw prey after all I’ve experienced.”

Komaru agreed. “Everything Makoto makes is much much better than what I had in the wild. I never want to go back.”

Then the two dropped off back to sleep, practically melting in the warmth. The humans gazed at the cute sight for a little longer before turning back to their work.

“We are lucky as well,” Makoto commented.

Hajime hummed. “That is very true. But sadly, not lucky enough to avoid homework. Come on, let’s get this done before dinner.”

Makoto groaned, but picked up his pen again. “Fine, fine.”

So the BSD crossover is delayed, what do we do now? I doubt the devs will tells any new info on dates nor what was their issues. There was a lot of people speculating it might be Yosano being the problem but that isn’t a full confirmation as when she got leaked by the devs in doc’s role reveal no one complained in China. Another rumor I heard before the delay was announced was that Dazai’s price package was ridiculous and everyone was complaining about it yet devs didn’t care either so what’s really happening anyway? Like the Junji Ito one for what I remember it wasn’t that horribly delayed and the devs acted before releasing Part 2 or am I mistaken? I just know it wasn’t that long for a single skin since I remember seeing both Picture Woman and Tomie coming together already.

If any IDV player or BSD fan sees this please let’s start a discussion on this as a way to pass time for the crossover! Whether about the series or the game BSD is trying to collab with can be both interesting to discuss. Besides I’m a little bored…

Just nothing like false information as the ppl who said the Yosano situation was confirmed isn’t really 100% confirmed yet as the devs would announce this to the whole community as to why it was delayed, not to a single server or region.

I really hope with the time they take, they should reconsider on some things on the crossover other than Yosano, like their Dazai package being too expensive for other regions who had the price go higher due to apple’s policies and I believe the discount they added for the pack is too expensive still in my opinion. In my country, the package is literally 60+ dollars and the skin itself is 58 so it’s not much of a change…

The rng for the essences is also bad and I say this by own experience on crossover essences, they said you won’t get repeats after getting one said A skin for the first time but I got double Chiakis and Nagitos but never got Mikan on the second DR essence. It’s a god damn scam, the same happened when I got L, before him I got Light twice in the same essence. For P5, I guess it’s fair to unfair because I got 3 makotos and 2 Harus before getting Futaba but I never got Akechi which I really wanted. They should make crossovers more player friendly for both new players and veterans :/

Would be cool if they made Dazai frags too like the Junji Ito skins and Edward Scissorhands, just keep the pack echoes only for the whales or people who can’t save frags, they would still receive a ton of money from their essences anyways, mainly crossover ones where people have to spend 500 dollars or more for 1 S skin and if the player wants, upgrade the Atsushi accessory into S rarity with Echoes which it’s the only way to get it S tier anyway, it’s 760 echoes which is around 10-25 dollars which in my opinion it’s still dumb how a small acc costs to upgrade. And don’t give me excuses about they also need to earn money and the author too but the BSD author has a game itself that is big on Japan and is winning tons specially with S4 out there plus IDV already earns tons with other crossovers and in the past 3 years, releasing echo only skins which costs real money and worst part is limited to certain period while some are unknown of its return. Some people I have seen struggled to get 1 S skin for 2000 or so because they know the player is a whale based on previous purchases or their YouTube status, I’m just amazed how no one decides to fight against this whole scam as for me a echo pack of 29.99 with taxes is only with 20 pulls while other games with the same pricing would give you better pulls around 40-80 pulls specially with first purchase bonuses resets, idv never had bonus reset because they will always give the bonus but you will barely get 20 pulls and even less an A skin in shop if you aren’t a NGP member.

Sometimes I feel like I’m the only one complaining about these things with reason. Then people throw hate at me for trying to help this game get better, no wonder this game is aimed to kids at some things. Because it’s very tame compared with a mature audience who fight against this abuse. But then again adults I meet in this game are just as childish for even having an opinion or point out a truth about the game that’s in their face. This is why I often get so off mood when I log into the game that I used to enjoy back in 2018.

To Mod: Besides the obvious characters like Mikan,Chisa,Mukuro,Mahiru and Hajime being poorly written. We also have:

-Juzo who knew Junko was guilt but didn't want to say anything because he'd be outed by his best friend. Which was dumb because the world was at stake.

- Teruteru who canonically interacted with Seiko off screen who makes god-like medicine. But the writers have him requesting aphrodisiacs from her instead of a cure for his mother. Just so they can have that gross soup scene.

-Hiyoko spiking everyone's food, you'd figured she wouldn't do that because Mahiru would be affected by the drugged soup but nope. This scene caused people to hate Teruteru even more.

-Doing absolutely nothing with the rest of Chiaki's classmates.

-Hope's Peak expelling three innocent people because of Nagito commiting terrorism with explosives.

//I'll touch on each point individually here.

It's not like what happened with Juzo doesn't make complete sense. It's still dumb, but I understand why Juzo was so reluctant. He wasn't necessarily afraid that the world would judge him for being gay, more so he was afraid Munakata would reject him. Juzo dedicated his life to Munakata in a similar way that Mukuro and Kuripa do to Makoto in Survivor. If Munakata had any reason to ostracise Juzo, Juzo then has nothing to live for. Still though, it was incredibly selfish and didn't do Juzo himself any favors. It ultimately just highlights how incredibly selfish he is, and how he's the pinnacle of how low Ultimate's can sink. Especially given how much shit he gave Hajime and the reserve course earlier in the arc, and then ends up succumbing to his own weakness, just as Hajime did before him. It goes to show that Ultimate's and normal people aren't as different as Juzo and most of the Hope's Peak denizens seem to think. In that regard, it's subtly genius, but the way it's actually carried out is a bit messy.

Yeah, the whole thing with Teruteru is a massive plot hole. You have someone who is capable of curing any disease right next to you, someone who is driven by a strong will to help people, but your dick is somehow more important to you. Not only is it a drastic oversight, but it ultimately degrades Teruteru's character, and removes the one thing that makes him a redeemable and honest man. His love for his family in the main games is so genuine, he is willing to kill a person in order to go home and help them. And whether you like Teruteru or not, if you're close with your family, no doubt you can understand his position. I don't think it's a matter of on purposefully trying to make Teruteru seem worse and more perverted, because it seems to me more like a bit of an oversight; like they sort of forgot about that plot point. The way I cover it in Survivor is with Teruteru saying either he didn't want to bother Seiko, or his mother wasn't too bad at the time, but I'm just reaching; trying to fill a plot hole that the writers made.

I don't understand why people damn Teruteru for that scene, because that CLEARLY wasn't his fault. Besides, I'd like to point out that he was honest about the "doping" with his classmates, and actually ASKED them if they wanted the added flavor. He was disappointed when they said no, but he's NOT the one at fault there. This also brings up another thing that I thought was a bit problematic, but Hiyoko and Mahiru's relationship in DR3 is HORRIFICALLY unexplored. Based on all the info in DR2 and DR3, it's heavily implied that they were just as close in the real world as they were in the Killing Game, but in every scene of DR3 where Mahiru is struggling mentally, Hiyoko is NOWHERE. Hell, the same can be said about Mikan and Ibuki. It's an important plot point in DR2 that they were involved in the Twilight Syndrome Murder Case, but when it happens in DR3, not only do we not see the damn altercation, but they aren't involved in any way, shape or form. I get that it's because they wanted to put more of a focus on Mahiru and Sato, which is the most important thing, but to wayside Mahiru's already established friends is just poor writing. You'd think they'd be by her side throughout all of it, but no. "We couldn't think of what to do for them, so we'll just not include them and fuck off."

Which ties in pretty heavily to this point of yes, the DR2 characters are STUPIDLY underused. Every moment they have in this show is poorly handled in some way, with the exception of a few episodes. They were good in Episode 1 and 2 of Despair Arc, and were great in Hope Side when they come to the Future Foundation's rescue. Aside from that, they get very few moments, and hardly any of them are good. The only members of the DR2 cast who get any sort of attention throughout most of DR3 are Hajime, Chiaki, Nagito and Imposter. And yes, they ARE the trifecta, and Imposter does need more screentime and characterization, but it's not fair on the rest of the group, who I will reiterate, are easily the most enjoyable, in-depth and interesting cast of ALL the games. They deserve better than what they got.

As much as I hate to admit it, and I know how this sounds, what happened with Nagito's attack, unfortunately, made total and complete sense. It is NO SECRET to anyone who knows how deep DR lore runs that Hope's Peak's steering committee was the true evil. Everything that was wrong with Hope's Peak that allowed Junko to take advantage of the system and destroy the world can be traced directly back to them. They cover up crimes, make poor decisions if it means protecting their school's reputation, and if things start looking bleak, they pin all the blame on Jin and Tengan. Seiko, Ruruka and Izayoi's expulsion, unfortunately, makes total sense, and it's one of the few things in Danganronpa 3 that actually DOES. The Steering Committee knew that there was more to the story and that this might have been the result of an accident. They probably knew that none of the three had actually done anything wrong. The reason why they were expelled is that it was the EASIEST possible out for THEM. After all, considering the exams at Hope's Peak were a public ordeal, it wouldn't be too hard to get an investigator in to find out the truth of the matter, but doing that risks exposing the other dark secrets that the Steering Committee tried to cover up. It was all too easy to pin the blame on Ruruka, Seiko, and Izayoi, and remove them permanently, to prevent their secrets from being outed and to preserve their reputation. Their reputation as an esteemed school, and their own personal goals took priority over everything else, and they didn't care who it hurt, especially not the three victims. This is also the reason why Nagito was only suspended as opposed to expelled as well. The reason he got off lightly is purely because of his talent. Hope's Peak were serious about researching luck, and given Nagito's insane bullshit abilities, he wasn't someone they were about to let go easily. The other three were sacrifices they could make. Nagito was not. It's not fair, and it doesn't make sense, but that's the POINT. This scene was one of the few things in DR3 that actually seemed thought through to me.

2019 vs. 2024 hot takes exactly 0 people asked for (now with opinions on the dr3 characters!)

and because im mentally ill im elaborating below the cut because at least i’m cognizant of how few people share this illness with me ❤️

first of all. some categories were edited (+added). we shall address them all in due time 🫶 but just for posterity before we begin: top of the category is the one that best exemplifies the category title and it moves in descending order; so as gonta is my #1 my GOAT, pedo udg guy is the one i want to kill himself most. understandable? ok 🫶

2019 top 5-tier is slightly unfortunately named but other than that changes in 2024 are somewhat minimal. as is perhaps obvious if you have seen even one (1) danganronpa post from me: gonta is My character hes mine spike chunsoft dont get him like i do. AND i love sdr2. nagito is my very very close second i am so incredibly mentally ill about him Oh if you all could see the hundreds of thousands of words ive written about that fucking guy. also true of hajime. still true of sonia (<3 i love u girlie) and fuyuhiko but to a lesser extent (i have written so much sdr2. its a problem. we persist). they are characters we see a lot of and in that same vein give SO much to build upon in further character exploration. and boy do i do that. holds the five of them In my arms i love you babygirls

S tier excellents again prove i am an sdr2 enjoyer. i think it also showcases how much i REALLY love the v3 characters while absolutely hating the plot they were stuck in. kaede and shuuichi are SOOOO special 2 me u dont understand…….im going to have so many thoughts and be So mad when i replay v3. kokichi is VERY interesting and my thoughts on him are endless (hi evan) and there is soooo much there even if i also have to fundamentally hate him somewhat because of 3-4. also a wide array of sdr2 characters are here of course……on my most recent replay i have come to really appreciate imposter (better sexier byakuya ❤️) and ibuki . and i was kind of surprised how high some of the dr1 characters are (besides chihiro who has consistently been my dr1 #1) but sorry dr3 made me love the makoto/kyouko/aoi trio sooooo bad.

lots of variety in the A tier which are all characters i enjoy, they just arent my Favorite barbie dolls to mash around u know. so many very unique personalities like mahiru, angie, tenko, and ryoma that weren’t explored as well as possible in canon, so its harder for me to personally invest in them. junko is iconic and she gets worse as the games go on but god. dr1 was craaaaaazy so she and mukuro have to be given props for that. im ignoring e-girl junko and v3 entirely <3 also again in watching dr3 while replaying sdr2 i really came to appreciate natsumi and her dynamic with hajime :[ rip girl i miss u. also also i liked koichi way more than expected LOL it must just be cuz hes hot but his death was sick as fuck and i liked his thruline with jin (the weird flirting with kyouko aside……)

B tier! bit of a mixed bag, from characters i like very begrudgingly (byakuya, sorry, i latched onto him as my rich terrible boyfriend when first playing years ago and the fondness kinda stuck 💔) to ones i do genuinely like, but they were not given much to do in canon (ryota) or their arcs fell flat (kirumi). also here are dr3 + udg characters i didnt mind or were just somewhat nice to makoto (also chisa, who is very interesting but i very much disliked how her character ended off) so shout out them (they are all dead) (or orphaned like monaca and kotoko).

C tier is basically my ‘i barely remember’ tier sry……i did not finish udg so i have so very few opinions on most of the characters. chihiro aoi and yasuhiro’s parents are chill tho shout out. not much to say tho

and now we enter the hater zone with D tier……look. some of these are hot takes and some arent. as much as i love sdr2 i just cannot ever make myself like hiyoko and teruteru. theyre kinda fucked from the getgo theyre never treated as especially serious characters but their glaring flaws are so bad i cant bring myself to care when the rest of the cast is SO GOOD. i also do not like kazuichi LMFAO as a sonia ride or die just as i cannot look past teruteru’s sexual harassment NEITHER CAN I LOOK PAST KAZUICHI’S ‼️‼️ yes i think he can be fixed but sonia needs a restraining order + when she was hoping he was the ch4 killer i was cheering. everyone else this category are just mid ass dr1 characters and the dr3 characters i found actively annoying. also monokuma. hes cringe but iconic and doesnt fit anywhere else

not much to be said about F tier. i did not finish udg but i know enough that i need haiji towa to die. i need the asshole who beat up hajime to die. i need the asshole who tried to kill makoto to die. i need that stupid old fuck heading the future foundation to die. the monokubs are fucking annoying. the only like Real characters here are 1) miu because she is written terribly and her cool talent is wasted, treats gonta like shit, isnt funny, is just nasty perv bait and her most meaningful contribution is to be fodder for the 2nd worse written case in the game. and as for NUMBER ONE WORST: tsumugi mostly just symbolizes my hatred for v3’s ending because outside of her role in 3-6 she has very little impact on the story before her reveal. also got my girlies kaede and rantarou killed God i hate the end of thisgame

and finally: oh my poor sweet bastards. why would they do this to you. these characters are either underutilized in a way that is DEVASTATING (izuru 💔) treated like shit as joke characters their potential is totally squandered by dogshit writing (everyone else — sdr2 you could have been so much better WHY!!!!!!). mikan and korekiyo’s motives are dogshit and make the ch3 double murder so much weaker. nekomaru and akane are played as jokes essentially their entire screentime and akane is especially egregious because shes a survivor among characters like FUYUHIKO!!! like SONIA!!! like HAJIME!!!!!!!!! AND YOU SQUANDER HER LIKE THIS!!!!!!!!!!! kaito suffers from really flip-floppy writing and he sucks a lot of the time Especially pre-localization but ive adopted him a little bit in writing him and i love my construction of him in my brain.

Did the entire rest of the city and landscape get completely flattened? Where are they

Kyoko!! I'm so glad she's alright. Second point: Why is Makoto the principal? I'm beginning to think maybe the message I had gotten, which was that the idea of inherently talented people and Hope's Peak itself was bad for people's mental health, was not the intended takeaway

But that is the end of the episode and the end of the series, not counting the special which will most likely be it's own plot since I don't really see where it would fit into this one

So, overall thoughts:

It was very good! The visuals were lovely, the story was interesting, and the voice acting was wonderful though the differences took a bit of getting used to for some characters

I'm not sure about them restarting Hope's Peak, I'm still pretty set on that being a bad thing to have honestly

The opening and ending themes were very good and I will certainly be adding them to my music playlist soon

Before, when I'd been looking through tumblr searches prior to realizing how many spoilers still existed, I saw a number of people saying they didn't actually like this anime for some reason? Having now seen it I have no idea what they could have possibly been complaining about?

Overall this has been a great time. Next up is Super Danganronpa 2.5: Nagito Komaeda and the World Vanquisher. Hopefully I will be able to get back to it a bit quicker this time

The only survivor from the LWP universe. She had teamed up with many people before Blue, but none of which has survived. She uses a rapier.

One of the two survivors of the AT universe. Was once corrupted by coming into contact with the corrupted Princess Bubblegum. Saved by both Pibby and Blue. He uses his double-edged sword to fight.

Jake(?), Adventure Time

One of the two survivors of the AT universe. Was once corrupted by coming into contact with the corrupted Princess Bubblegum. Saved by both Pibby and Blue. He uses a hammer.

A child who lost both their parents and were left wandering around alone. Found by both Pibby and Blue, they are now travelling together with the survivors. They stick to Blue the most. They use a baseball bat to fight.

The only survivor of from the MLP:FIM Universe. She tagged along with the group when they arrived. Initially, she had Twilight with her, but she was lost to the corruption. She uses her party cannon.

Sayori(18), Doki Doki Literature Club

The only survivor from the DDLC universe. She manages to run and escape from the corruption somehow, and survived on her own until she found Dipper. She uses a spear.

Dipper Pines(12), Gravity Falls

The only survivor from the Gravity Falls Universe. He ran from the corruption with Mabel, but she was caught, leaving him to survive on his own. He world hopped without realising and has survived on his own until he met Sayori. He uses twin shortswords.

Sunny(14), OMORI

The only survivor from the OMORI Universe. He was in his house when it happened, holding a knife to protect himself, only to have a portal open beside him. He wasn't alone for long as he met Sayori and Dipper very quickly. He uses a knife- (and eventually a bow & arrows)

He's here too. Rather than continuing to protect Sunny from the truth, he now spends his time trying his best to be Sunny's support whenever he needs it.

Favorite Ship: Komahina (Nagito Komaeda/Hajime Hinata)

I will be honest, the fact that I like this ship at all is mind-boggling to me. It is literally the ONLY protag/antag ship that I enjoy!!!

But, see, I think the main reason I like it is because Nagito never seems actively malicious during the main game (aside from chapter 4, but even then, he’s not being actively malicious towards Hinata. A lot of people misconstrue his behavior, I think, as being harsh and cruel, when in reality what’s happening is that he simply isn’t worshipping Hinata anymore. He’s being actively cruel towards the rest of the Ultimates, but we actually see him talk about how he and Hinata are pretty similar.

He’s not being a jerk during chapter 4. He’s been genuinely shaken to his core because of the horrific discovery of the fact that these people he cares about, these people he’s spent so much time with, these people he considers his friends, even if they don’t like him, are, in actuality, the personification of the only thing in this world he truly, and utterly, DESPISES.)

Nagito my beloved,,,,,,,ugh he is so Mentally ill™️ ❤️ (I SAY THIS AS A MENTALLY ILL PERSON ASKJDMSDN DON’T KILL ME) There’s also so much queercoding!!!! Of his character!!!!!! MAKOTO NAEGI

You probably met when you saved him from falling flat on his face his first day at Hope’s Peak. He would’ve broken his nose if you hadn’t slid forward and caught him. After that, he’s been enamoured with you.

Not a stalker, but he does sometimes hide behind a corner to stare at you and pluck up the courage to ask to eat lunch with you. It’s kind of adorable.

You probably train with Sakura a lot! Makoto gets roped in as well, which he sees as physically painful but it’s worth it to talk to you.

After 6 months of being in the same class, he starts leaving you love notes in your locker. They’re very sweet and are sometimes joined by your favorite snacks. This evolves to you exchanging notes through your locker, but after 2 months of that you want to know who your mysterious admirer is.

So you leave a note asking to meet with them, and they agree, setting the time for that bench on the hill at 3pm.

You get there early and shift on your feet nervously, when you see Makoto walking up. Your eyes widen as you realize why he might be here-

Before he slips. And just like how you first met, you run towards him and catch him in your arms, faces mere inches from each other.

Flushing, you stand him upright. “So, are you…”

“Your admirer? Yeah.” He finishes, and rubs his arm. You take his hands in yours and give him a smile. “There’s no one else I would rather it be.”

KOREKIYO SHINGUJI

Before you two even went to Hope’s Peak he probably hired you to help him delve through ancient ruins. Many of them have been unexplored, for good reason- there are traps everywhere, and it’s very dangerous.

He really appreciates your help, and you like listening to him ramble on about what you’re looking for. He never recovers ancient artefacts for museums- if he removes them from their location, it’s because the descendants of the ancient civilization asked him to. He prides himself on being an ethical anthropologist.

Once, he got tipped off that some private collectors were sending some people to straight up destroy parts of the Amazon on their way to mine every interesting thing it held. In fact, this is where you got your Ultimate title.

Because the instant he shared this with you, you both were on a jet plane to the Amazon rainforest, placing emergency calls to all your contacts to send you what you needed. Korekiyo doesn’t have the largest online following, but a lot of people who follow him do.

So he posted a tweet and video explaining what exactly the collectors were planning, and his followers retweeted it to spread the word, and on it went. The moment you two landed you sprinted to where the ‘collectors’ had been planning to start. But unfortunately, they came armed. Korekiyo began speaking to attempt to calm them down, but one of them shot with shaky arms.

Time slowed down. You shoved Korekiyo down and grabbed a tent pike that was next to your feet, throwing it with perfect aim to knock the gun out of his hands. From there, it was a bloodless massacre as you knocked them all out within 5 minutes, tying them up so they couldn’t attack. By the time they did wake up, the operation had been officially recognized by the UN as completely illegal. You had saved the Amazon from irreparable damage almost by yourself. You earned the title of Ultimate Protector.

And Korekiyo was in utter awe at the sight of you. Feelings he hadn’t even known existed bubbled up inside of him.

NAGITO KOMAEDA

Hope’s Peak probably hired you to make sure he didn’t straight up die because of his luck cycle.

He’s like “wow you’re keeping someone as hopeless as me alive? Incredible” as you dump out his food because he accidentally added bleach instead of white wine. You aren’t affected by his luck cycle very much, if at all.

But lord, the amount of times you’ve had to pull him out of traffic and into your chest because a truck had its breaks broken…

The amount of times that you’ve had to carry him like a bride because he fainted from overheating…

The amount of times that you’ve had to give him mouth to mouth because he somehow drowned in the school pool…

If you didn’t know any better, you’d assume that he was the Ultimate Unlucky student instead. But no, he insists that his luck is working perfectly fine.

You only realize your feelings for him when your friends tease you about your boyfriend. When you exclaim that you aren’t dating, they ask why you make his meals (because otherwise he somehow poisons himself), why you walk everywhere together (because at this rate he would be hit by five trucks at once if he went somewhere on his own), why you sleep in the same house (once he got kidnapped for his fortune and you only managed to stop it because the kidnapper stepped on a rake left in the yard)...

And then you start blushing furiously.

You probably confess once you give him CPR again, reddening slightly as you look away. He blinks in surprise, but soon a wide smile appears on his face and he confesses his own feelings with joy in his voice.

This is a pretty well known headcanon, but I love the concept of the SDR2 survivors take care of Hajime after days or weeks after escaping the NWP.

But what about the catalyst for that? The breakdown that makes them see he needs just as much as they do? That they’re trying to support themselves on a beam that is bending too?

It could’ve gone a million and one ways. I like to think it could’ve gone like this:

Hajime at that point has been just trying to get past the whole Kamukura thing, mourning Chiaki, spending sleepless nights trying to find a way to wake up their friends and keeping the other four from spiraling. It’s a lot. Cracks start to show - he wakes up in random places, he visibly twitches, and is slowly starting to snap at everyone until he finally breaks.

Kamukura keeps slipping into the forefront, masking as Hajime when he’s just too exhausted to deal with his friends. And he feels like shit about that - because they’re his friends and he loves them. But sometimes…they’re all just so needy - or so confrontational that he honestly can’t deal with them. And that makes him feel worse, cause they’re counting on him to lead them and that feels more like a role of a parent than it did the role of a leader.

They have help, of course. But it isn’t enough. No clothes and little food - sharp objects removed from their persons. They’re prisoners even if no one says it out loud. Convicts.

They wouldn’t let them starve and they’ll see about getting clean clothes. Anything else? Vague reassurances. Makoto is a man of his word, he promises and Hajime knows instinctively that he’ll keep them. But the ones behind him? Fake Byakuya and Kirigiri? They‘re more jaded- more realistic. He would’ve been too if he wasn’t the on his end of the stick.

The danger of slipping - of the cracks being too big to hide behind - is rapidly becoming a very big problem.

They want to change, want to help and get help - but they’re so lost. And angry - stuck in a limbo where they haven’t yet decided on a direction to take but know they made a choice but don’t know what that choice was.

Its not quiet or quick either - it’s a slow thing that is exasperated from failure after failure throughout the day and it comes to a boil when the five are sitting together eating and someone says something (maybe Kazuich or Fuyuhiko or even Akane or Sonia) about their past Despair, or their slight grievenes with the Foundation before it moves to the more important subject that is their hesitance at having certain members come back.

They (Akane, Fuyuhiko and Kazuichi) start in on attacking Nagito and though Sonia is quiet, she doesn’t try to stop them. She just finished having a screaming match with Akane over Gundham and she is still sore that no one seemed to back her up on his innocence- not even Kazuichi who unusual rallies for her. So she’s silent and not looking at his direction as the other tear Nagito apart. They’re all mad and saying hurtful words about someone who can’t even defend themselves.

Hajime likes to think that that’s why he speaks up for the blond then. But he knows - really knows - why he does. And he thinks they do too, but they still turn on him - call him a traitor and letting what his so called “love” wasn’t real and clouds him from the danger of a crazy person.

And that’s the moment, when the damn breaks. He‘s quiet for a moment, going impossibly still like a statue. But then, the anger rears up like an angry dragon and it all crashes down on him.

And the fallout? It isn’t pretty. Hajime goes off on all of them - he targets their biggest issues and insecurities, going as far as to point out abuse and trauma and abandonment from before the tragedy towards Akane and Kaz specifically; how they didn’t hesitate to hunt down and take their pounds on flesh like dogs freed from the leash. Throwing Fuyuhiko’s pushiness and his desire for Peko to have a normal relationship with him without discussing it with her. How he hates her position and lack of recuperation but clung to her still like a child even as he complained because he was selfish.

And with Sonia, he rubs salt in the wound about her country, her people, her parents and how she’s not as much of a benevolent person/leader as she liked to believe. That deep down she always had a taste for it - the clean wave of destruction she brought almost as easy as her drawing breath.

Everyone is under fire that night - everyone. It’s nasty - a dirty drag out where accusations are made and fingers are pointed. Things are said and half meant yet fully meant at the same time. They want to deny what he said but can’t, so the next best thing is to attack each other. And it’s brutal - there’s a point when blows are almost flying.

Hajime idly wonders if this was something that was a long time coming, but the thought is quiet in the back of his mind as he feels the familar pressure of Kamukura seeping into the forefront. He only lets him in half way - he still has venom and vitriol to distribute and the other is just interested enough to let him.

Soon, the others try to turn the tables on him and he just pulls his lips up into a bitter, sad snarl - teeth clenched and tears running down his face, as he answers a voice becomes more monotone with each syllable:

“There’s nothing you’re going to say that I already haven’t dissected in my swiss cheese of a brain. You’re just angry that you’re that transparent. It’s honestly pathetic how predictable you all are.”

You got flustered and ran into your dorm which was right beside Junko. You got dressed in the "dress" and went over to Junko. "You look sooo great bestie!" Junko squealed. "I'm not going out like this." you said "It's too tight and barely covers anything!" you added. "Ok fine. I also picked this out for you." she threw an F/F colored kimono with black sakura flowers on both of the sleeves. "Wow, it's so pretty!" you said looking at the flowers.  You walked off and changed. "I really like this!" you said twirling around. Izuru came in and looked at your body for a moment. "You look nice." Izuru said. "Aww so I'm not boring?" you said smiling. "Look at this picture Izuru!" Junko said holding up her phone. It was a picture of Makoto in a box. It was from Byakuya. "He looks so cute!" you said taking Junko's phone. "Anyways, Izuru can I talk to you for a moment?" Junko said with a toothy grin. "Fine." Izuru said walking out of the room. You sat down on a fancy couch and played on your phone. Izuru walked in smiling. "You can smile?!" you asked jumping up in surprise. "Yes. But I have a question. Will you go on a date with me?" Izuru inquired. You got extremely flustered. You tried to answer but it came out as mumbles. "Heyyy bestie I've got a question for you! Do you want to go on a date with me?" Junko said with something that looked like hope in her eyes.  Y/n.exe has stopped working. "Umm bestie?" Junko said poking you. "Oww. But yes I would gladly go on a date with you. I mean both of you." you said burying your red face in your hands. Izuru and Junko glared at each other for a moment. " Ladies first Izuru!" Junko said lightly pushing his aside. "I asked them first so I should go out with them first." Izuru said pushing her. "Don't fight!" you said waving your hands around. They looked at you for a moment. "We can all go on a date." You said. "Fine." they both said in unison. "Im going to go change."  you said walking out. You changed into a f/f dress and went back onto Junko's dorm.  "You look pretty." Izuru said. "Aww thanks!" you said hugging him. "Let's go." Junko said opening the door. The night was awesome. You shopped and ate.  You felt so happy the two people you had crushes on loved you back! Izuru was very protective of you. If someone tried to flirt with you at a party he would choke them. It was surprising the first few times but you got used to it. If someone did the same Junko would just kiss you and hug onto you.
