i love ornate sheet music cover pages 💗
gotta be serious with my practice like i am on @studentbyday if i want to improve enough to take lessons again 😤 sight-reading starts tmr... 🙈 i'm tired (note to self to practice first thing when i'm most awake next time).
🎹 technique (30 mins):
f#m scales (natural/harmonic/melodic) (16ths at quarter note = 60-76 bpm, but at 76 it sometimes gets sloppy)
f#m triads (broken/blocked) (triplets/quarter notes at quarter note = 80 bpm)
🎶 repertoire:
played around w the beginning of chopin's andante spianato bc i couldn't get it out of my head all day (just the very beginning...which i can barely manage to play passably well 🙃). also barely practiced the next line of nocturne op. 55 no. 2 (i didn't even read the whole line).

Day 5- Wally
You may be wondering why the frick frack nick nack stick stack bric-a-brac I did a human, but I decided that every five days I will draw a trainer instead of a Pokémon :)
Also can I take a moment to rant abt spirit box radio!! It’s so so sooo good I’ve been totally obsessed I just got the the second part of season one it has me totally gripped. Love listening to it while I draw.

on: attempted productivity
i'll start this blog off with a disclaimer: i don't know much about productivity, but maybe tomorrow's me knows more. i religiously obsess over productivity tools but i am somewhat attention deficient and it's hard for me to actually use them. if this sounds like you, feel free to follow along to see how i do!
given the above, i am going to restrict myself to two tools, and potentially modify them as i learn what works for me. i am using:
forest for time-keeping
notion for task-tracking and general organization
as for what i'm working on, i am currently attempting to speed-run a 10-week course in... wait for it... one week! thankfully it is an interesting course about implementing programming languages with OCaml, and i am at least somewhat motivated by the material because i want to try creating a language for fun this summer!
once this week is over, i'll be interning at microsoft (yay!), blogging for my school's admissions blog, working part-time for a small ed-tech nonprofit, and working on some personal projects. basically, there will be plenty to keep me busy and, ideally, somewhat productive.
i'll try to post daily updates (100 days of productivity-style) every night with a wrap-up and aesthetic collage and/or forest, because i'm motivated by pretty things. i'll also interlude with tips & more long-form posts like this as i figure things out.
if you choose to follow along, thanks for learning with me, and i wish you the best of luck with your studies/ work/ etc. <3

Do music practice journals work? Yes …and no.
It depends on what your goals are and while I don't have a definitive answer, what I can offer is several decades worth of practice charts and journals that I used throughout my studies (from Beginner to Doctorate) and teaching to give you some ideas of what worked and what didn't.
This video is mostly piano-based with a tiny bit of percussion/drums mentioned. There are also organization tips and practice strategies.

For sheet music: Ko-fi (classicalsqueak) or SMP* (published by Ylan Chu)

Day 12- Lileep!
Finally returned from hiatus, and oh boy this was a joy to draw. Sorry I was gone for so long, I had a lot on my plate and between exams and competitions and sorting out work experience this was the only thing I could put on hold.
Lileep is so cut- really uncanny and creepy, but adorable all the same. I think I’m gonna do an ORAS nuzlocke one of these days, and I’m sure cradilly will be on my team. On another note, when I do start that nuzlocke, would anyone be interested in seeing updates from that?

Music Practice with Dice | d20 Task Charts, Templates, Practice Games, and PDF
If you have some shiny math rocks and want to find more ways to use them, I made a few templates for scales practice or practice sessions. These task charts aren't a new concept, but hopefully these are some ideas to use more polyhedral dice in your teaching, compositions, or practice.
If you feel like tallying scores to fight a monster, there are three creatures I illustrated - the Gelatinous Rosin, the Decomposer (yes, it is a poor attempt at a wig on an earthworm), and the Memory Slip.
