I need to train a bird and send it to spy on somebody who knows EXTENSIVE knowledge of HI3 lore and then when it comes back to report its findings to me I need to brutally snatch it out of the air mid-flight like a peregrine falcon and eat it and thus immediately absorb all its stolen knowledge so that I can understand even a sliver, even a fraction of what the FUCK IS GOING ON in HSR and what ANY of these references and allusions are and who the HELL any of these people showing up are. The fuck is Kevin? What’s up with your cane, Mr. Yang? I need to shred that fucking bird.

2.1 Penacony thoughts [part1]
Tumblr media
**Mild spoiler warning** until the first moment we switch to Aventurine’s POV in the story and I don’t think much has happened yet, but if you haven’t reached that point yet, then turn away anyway if you wish I’m just gonna ramble a bit here and toss my thoughts into the void for my own reference.
Firstly, the return of the odd yellow text and Aventurine calling us ~fuh-riends~ in that hilarious and exaggerated tone of his.
Tumblr media
Makes me wonder whom else has perished during their time in Penacony, and if it’s true, then the Family certainly has experience with covering such things up which raises many other concerns. Also gives me another reason to not fully trust Sunday.
Tumblr media
Oh teehee~ We got Aventurine’s number. And some extra credits due to my responses, HA. sugardaddy
Tumblr media
As we learned from a beautifully animated dance animation, Black Swan certainly knows how dangerous Acheron can be.
Tumblr media
he whole flashback with Duke & Acheron was pretty good. It at least gives us more context rather than us being told he was killed offscreen, but still confirms the dude is dead, though he mentions the kids are alive, somehow. Duke also guessed that Acheron’s an Emanator (though he’s wrong about which path), then there was some important music box that gets brought up later on, and Acheron speaks of her sword that has indeed been sheathed this entire time, even during the 2.0 story.
Tumblr media
At the very end of the scene it fades to black and Acheron full says: “May death be the end of your boundless dream, guiding you back to the waking world,” which I remember is the exact thing she said after witnessing Firefly’s death.
Tumblr media
Sweetie, you’re a big mystery but it does not surprise me in the slightest to learn that you’re wanted by the IPC after witnessing your power in your many trailers. Hearing her speak about the Stellaron Hunters though made me think back to her character trailer, since I wondered if she even knew who was attacking her in the first place, but perhaps she did, even if the trio was nothing but Sparkle’s tricky illusions.
Tumblr media
It was kinda funny seeing her get lost occasionally in the hotel during the previous story update, but now I feel bad knowing that she has horrible memory. Having to rely on your emotions seems quite challenging if you don’t have a good control of them, but she seems to be fairing well enough.
Tumblr media
Tell us your suspicions Acheron! I mean, I have my guesses as well, but I’d take your word over anyone else’s.
Tumblr media
It was at this moment where I had a real random idea and thought, “huh, could this be Boothill?” I found it strange how they revealed him to us when we haven’t even met the dude in game yet, like he really came in outta nowhere for me. But seeing Sam again and realizing how both of them have robotic bodies.. I dunno. I thought it could’ve been an extra set of armor or something.
Tumblr media
Of course it makes no sense, since Sam & Boothill have different voice actors anyways, but still, the way Acheron speaks so familiar to him, as if they were both truly galaxy rangers, gave me second thoughts for just a brief moment. Nothing more. Just a small silly idea.
Tumblr media
The return of the worrisome red text, capable of causing anxiety even through such a small word. With her horrible memory, I assume she’s not even sure what she’s supposed to be doing in life, so asking about Elio’s script and if she’s included made me think she’s trying to learn about her purpose and her own goals.
Tumblr media
Say it loud, mom! We shall NOT. TRUST. ANYONE! And at this moment I seriously don’t. If they ain’t from the Express then you’re sus. Case closed.
Tumblr media
Glad to see Danny boy lending us a helping hand from the train, but red text begone! First learning about how Acheron has terrible memory and now we can’t even remember her well? That can’t be good.
Tumblr media
I firmly believed that if you die in the dream, you would just wake up in real life, so thank whatever Aeon you fancy that we’re finally getting the idea to head back into reality to confirm if Firefly and Robin are still alive. Maybe we should check up on those couple npcs that passed away during side quests too.
Tumblr media
The way I held my breath.. I don’t even know much about HI3 but I’m aware our grandpa is more or less the same guy, so seeing him interact with some like Acheron, oh dear. The way Acheron still didn’t reveal her true name to him made me more wary too. I get she might not even remember, because poor memory, but hmmm.
Tumblr media
I can understand her having some Stellaron Hunter knowledge because she’s wanted just like them, but ma’am why do you know this?? especially since the Family doesn’t even know the truth about Welt’s cane apparently.
Tumblr media
Can’t lie, a fight between him and Acheron would be a spectacle. Who do you think would win?
Tumblr media
Again, how does she know this? Has she been chatting with Aventurine? because he figured out our stellaron last patch too.
Tumblr media
First thought: yay, she’s worried about us. Second thought: why would she be concerned about Black Swan? Shouldn’t it be the other way around after their dance? Third thought: What exactly is Black Swan capable of and how frightened should I be right now? Fourth thought: Acheron, why do you know so much about others??
Tumblr media
So this music box.. why exactly does Black Swan have it now? Didn’t Acheron snatch it from Duke Inferno? Was she planning to give it to BS, or did memokeeper steal it off her? I dunno.
Tumblr media
Is it me or does it feel like she’s talking to someone else? Another memokeeper? Or just to herself for dramatic effect? Either way, who exactly are we expecting to show up?
Tumblr media
I honestly was getting a bit creeped out during this scene, from the weird camera angles the game was giving is to seeing Black Swan not understand what was going on or who was speaking to her. I actually started fearing for her life and I made a stunning realization that if they killed off BS I would actually freak out. Surprisingly, I wasn’t too upset over Firefly (we didn’t spend much time with her), but it feels like we’ve know BS for longer you know? Ever since that trailer about all the Aeons.
Tumblr media
I can hear Luocha somewhere in the distance going “the dead return!” I tease, but actually hearing one of those from Ever-Flame Mansion call out to BS was a bit confusing? Duke said his kids were alive, sure, but BS is looking at past memories attached to the music box, right? So I’m still a bit on the fence regarding who out of the kids are actually alive. Maybe some, maybe all. Maybe I’m being played for a fool and thinking about it too much.
Tumblr media
How many of y’all got excited to see Ratio interact with Aventurine again? I know you people are out there. Anyways, hearing about how Robin had a stand-in leads me to believe her death was planned, which would upset me greatly because what did that precious lady ever do to anyone??
Tumblr media
It’s crazy this man has actually tried several times to end himself inside the dreams, like bro what if you actually succeeded?? At least this shod bring us some relief that Firefly and Robin are okay? Hopefully? I’ll believe when I see them.
Tumblr media
I freakin' knew there was something wrong with her voice!! The first couple times we meet her you can tell her voice sounded off, like it was glitching out or something. It’s not very easy to hear, but the difference between the real Robin and Sparkle impersonating Robin towards the end of the last patch sounded different. No wonder Sunday picked up on Sparkle’s trick so easily.
Tumblr media
Soooo, that’s pretty much everything I went through after the update hit. Unfortunately it isn’t much but adulting is a drag. Of course I’m looking forward to continuing the story later on. Starting with these men again will be a treat too.

Trigun Maximum 3 Part 2
Why the hecking heck am I so slow. I need to catch up! I will do so this week! Don't hold me to my word, please!
Trigun Ultimate: 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4 Trigun Maximum: 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, 3.1, 3.2, 4.1, 4.2, 5.1, 5.2, 6.1, 6.2, 7.1, 7.2, 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 9.1, 9.2, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, 10.4
05: The long goodbye
Poor Brad. He’s in all over his head. He does not even have any fighting experience!
Tumblr media
There he is! Our well-prepared, dead man! Being sucked in by the darkness that followed the bloodbath!
Tumblr media
The things Wolfwood protects are painted in crass contrast to him. They are just white outlines. They are innocence. Wolfwood on the other hand is painted in blood, black suit, dark hair.
Nightow likes to drive home why Wolfwood is able to do such brutal acts. Without him contrasting Wolfwood’s actions with the closeups to his face showing his despair and intersecting with Wolfwood thinking about the kids he protects, I don’t think the readers would feel so much empathy for Wolfwood. Nothing about Wolfwood’s fight is clean or straight, unlike Vash’s. Vash is somewhat in control during his fight, no, he has control. He can keep the enemy at bay, he lets the puppets close and acts only when he knows they truly are puppets. He talks to Emilio and tries to get through to him. Wolfwood has no such power. He hasn’t even got words left. Wolfwood’s fight is direct, gory, bloody, brutal, and personal. It reads like a rabid animal fighting for its life, being cornered and having no way out, baring its teeth and tearing its enemy apart. But who can fault him for it?
Tumblr media
Other users already pointed out that Wolfwood’s eyes go bright when he is in emotional stress. This a desperate animal trying to stay alive, to not die. But Nightow intersects Wolfwood physically killing the little people in Ninelives so brutally with Wolfwood needing to concentrate on the reason why he does it. For me, it reads like Wolfwood outright fully dissociating while he kills Ninelives. Fleeing to his safe place and the reason why he persists in this world. Wolfwood is truly a monster, but even at his most monstrous we get to see him at his most human, too. Brutal and cold, his actions may be, but they are not done by hatred, but stem from a love for someone. His expression visibly softens while he thinks about the orphanage.
Tumblr media
It is extra horrific that the little people inside Ninelives are so small, childlike from their height and body proportions. It must be extra hard for Wolfwood. Wolfwood needs therapy after this!
Another reason why I read this as dissociating is that the other two Ninelives are able to sneak up on Wolfwood. He shuts himself off and is unable to hear or sense them in any way and leaves his back completely open, even though he knows there are many people in the body and he doesn’t know how many. It is unlike Wolfwood to let his walls down like that. He's at a breaking point.
Tumblr media
When you want to protect the corpse of your childhood sweetheart and you accidentally topple over like a domino game. This panel made me laugh.
Tumblr media
Time for a concussion! Not like Nightow really thinks about the consequences of head trauma *stares at Vash giving head trauma left and right* This trope, I hate and love it.
*pats Brad* Sorry, buddy. Now you know, too.
Either Brad vomits because of the revelation or because of the headtrauma. Porque No Los Dos?
Tumblr media
Brad says: Yeet the creep! Not gonna lie, that is a very intelligent way to deal with the intruder. The part with the power is interesting. Brad is very aware of the power source and what they need it for. Foreshadowing?
Vash to the rescue! Even after all Emilio did, Vash doesn’t want him to die. I have many feelings about that. Not all are positive towards Vash. Not all are bad, either. It’s a difficult situation and a difficult stance. No one would have faulted him for not trying to save the man who killed and vivisected so many of his loved ones. Some may even take offence to it. There is no right answer in the grand picture, but Vash can at least know that he did all he could from his ideal’s perspective.
Emilio chooses to die. He cannot live with the loss of Isabel, his not-girlfriend. At least I conclude that Emilio never told her and the regret eats him alive. I hope that is no foreshadowing for Vash, since Emilio is kinda his counterpart to Vash in this arc. Both are men made by grief. Emilio even compared Vash and himself at the beginning, both harbouring so much grief and suffering behind their masks. Being a higher being like Vash means for Emilio that Vash is able to just deal with the losses, totally dehumanising Vash. But he does not see that Vash does not do it. The people who he really connects to haunt him and their memory controls him til today, like with Rem. Emilio and Vash also mirror each other in the way they feel about their life. Emilio does not want to live a life without Isabel and chooses to die when he cannot even have her corpse, the illusion of her at his side, Vash does not really want to live either, without Rem or any real connection, but he still avoids those. Our latent suicidal boy :C
Tumblr media
That looks biblical… Also, Wolfy? You still there? You look completely gone.
Tumblr media
Aw, the girls have his back! Did… Did Milly shoot them through the ceiling? She looks so delighted. “Look what my gun can do! Weee!” Why do I get a flashback to the 98’ scene where Vash is like: “I know a shortcut!” And proceeds to shoot through like 20 floors down.
Tumblr media
What do the first two panels even mean? Argh! Please, someone tell me.
Hehe, in the “Nick” of time. You did that on purpose, didn’t you, Milly? Is that the Toma-Dude calling down to them? Wolfwood looks just so done.
06: Families
Interestingly, the title does not say ”Family” singular, but plural. So it will be about the contrast between Vash’s blood family and Vash’s chosen family?
I am not laughing at Knives’ silly BDSM-getup with the 6 eyeholes, while having a fucking round piano thingy around him. I am totally not laughing at him. His get-up reminds me somewhat of Belzebub, the master of flies. But I am not laughing at him. … I am. I am laughing at Knives.
And he shoots just a hole into the ceiling… For funsies.
Aw, a memory of Doc and how they found Vash! Q_Q
Tumblr media
HOSPITAL YURI! HOSPITAL YURI! HOSPITAL YURI! AHHHHHHHHH! He woke up to Wolfwood’s heartbeat! Vash looks so somft when he realises that it is Wolfwood! But also so distraught at either the condition that Wolfwood is in or worse, he faults himself for it because they argued about their ideals before.
Tumblr media
Not gonna lie, I’d react the same way. Jessica reads weird to me with her puppy crush. They met when she was like 5, she is now around 17 years old and still has her infatuation on high drive. Maybe I am too autistic to get that. *sits with the insurance women and is confused*
Tumblr media
Why… does Meryl hit him over the head? Vash is just really happy to see her. He does not do anything creepy like '98 Vash. They are having a moment here! This is so outta the blue. Is it one of those tsundere jokes? That Meryl is unable to show her true relief and thus acts out? Meh :C
I love how they then awkwardly proceed to give him business cards. I know business cards are incredibly important in Japan. But the insurance women give them one handedly, which is not right as far as I know. They hold them out more like badges. They are such cute weirdos.
Tumblr media
LUIDA! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOUR STYLE! AHHHHHH!
And good on her for putting on Vash’s head right. He rescued them! His existence is not wrong. These are Emilio’s, Ninelive’s and Knives’ actions! I love how down to the matter Luida is. But at the same time, she avoids talking about Doc. She is hurting, too. But she needs to be a leader now, first and foremost. But her grief is palpable.
Sidenote: In ‘98 the whole ship was pretty hostile towards Wolfwood as an outsider. And they even turned on Vash in the end. And damn, that was really hard to watch. Maybe that’s why I saw and see Brad in a harsher light, because he was kinda the summary of the ship's behaviour. I really, really like that Nightow did not keep this up. Vash has been through so much and FINALLY there is an adult that can understand cause and effect and “judges” Vash for what he does and not for who is after his ass. It is the question of who is at fault, the gun or the one who pulled the trigger. Who do you hate, the gun or the person who shot?
Tumblr media
No, another nightmare for Wolfwood? At least now I got my question answered if anyone ever saw him get one. Vash did.
Tumblr media
This is a funny scene, but it says so much sad stuff. The second Wolfwood is conscious, worse from a nightmare, he is alarmed. He needs to check his surroundings for safety first before he can even allow himself to check up on his body’s condition. Didn’t he break all his ribs? Every breath must be painful, but no, he needs to check his safety first. A hospital should be a place where people feel safe, but Wolfwood surely does not. And as soon as he spots Vash, his mask is back on and he is his usual snarky self. And that after a nightmare that woke him up! GODDAMN! GIVE THIS MAN THERAPY!
Tumblr media
Damn, going right at his own throat. Vash does not judge Wolfwood. Wolfwood judges himself and projects that onto Vash. And Vash denies him. He thanks him, instead. Here, Vash is understanding Wolfwood, but Wolfwood doesn’t understand Vash due to his own prejudices. Wolfwood cannot accept that someone does not judge him as hard as he judges himself. Man, those men.
“I’ve burdened you with my own ideals.” Such a raw line. I love it. What I am missing a bit in Vash is that we see Vash reflect upon other people. We get Wolfwood who constantly reflects upon himself and others and judges, we get Meryl trying to understand Vash and bringing his inhumanity together with his apparent softness that he has shown again and again, we get Brad dealing with Vash’s unchanging immortality and the way he bonds with people in a very inhuman way. But we don’t get Vash reflecting on how other people impact him. Even now, his stance is how he affected Wolfwood, not how Wolfwood affects him. Vash is unchanging. For the better and worse. That may be by intent from Nightow, since Vash is such an inhuman being. Maybe even we, the readers, aren’t prone to get a true insight of him and only bits and pieces from the story to build up our own image.
“The way he talks, his words... they contradict everythin' I stand for. Immortality.” Foreshadowing?!
Is it truly Vash’ apparent immortality that scares Wolfwood? Or is it the sudden realisation that Vash is so much longer than Wolfwood on the planet and still holds onto his “naive” ideals? That nothing he experienced did deter his optimism? Wolfwood already breaks under the burden of his priorities, the orphanage and thus his own survival. But for Vash, it is everyone except himself. To grapple such an idea and see it successfully executed is jarring. It is inhuman. Vash is inhuman and this is the point that Wolfwood truly understands his inhumanity. And it fucking scares him
07: His life as a …
A reminder that No-Man’s-Land is pretty lawless. Why does law exist (in theory)? The law is there so people do not abuse their power. So people don’t take revenge. It is there so that after a misdeed families don’t run into blood feuds taking revenge upon revenge until the triggering act is forgotten but the stream of blood does not stop. The men in the beginning of the chapter do exactly that, use their power to exact pure revenge over people in their captivity. This is an extremely ugly consequence of people willing to do everything to protect their families. I can empathise why they do it, but I don’t approve of it.
Vash is about 180cm in the manga. How small is Luida? Damn! Also, baby Brad! Baby brat Brad! So the front page shows Luida, the doc, maybe doc's father and Brad and Jessica. It looks like a family picture. Is Doc Luida's father? How does Brad relate to her? Or Jessica? Brad wanting to woo her at least should mean that they aren't related.
Tumblr media
This scene always gets me. Luida putting her foot down and just being a boss. It is so small, but so telling about the characters. I love how Wolfwood just respects her rules, even though he chimes in like a little boy with: “But it ain’t even lit.”
I also love that Wolfwood just carries his drip like the punisher.
Tumblr media
Vash shows Meryl and Milly an extremely important part of him. He is showing vulnerability, but at the same time… I don’t know, it feels incomplete? Vash is staring away, at his past and more importantly at Rem, while Meryl watches him and reflects upon their experiences. Meryl watches from the outside, she does not get any insight.
Tumblr media
We, the readers and Wolfwood, get a bit of a summary about Vash’ past, but I don't know if Meryl and Milly do get it. It looks a bit like it, but at the same time absolutely not. There is a hint that Vash is older than them, but it is a hint: “It’s from a long time ago. Before your grandparents were born.” It is from before he was born, too! But it has been on this planet since before their grandparents were born. He is not part of the sentence. But it is subtle and I would not get it when I was in the insurance women’s shoes. Milly may have gotten it, but the scene focuses on Meryl. Does Vash tell them about his past? I don’t think so. If he did, why does Meryl think that she can see his enigmatic past laid out there? Why are we shown this introspection without any Oh!-moment? It is more about feeling and not knowing. The cuts to his past are always told from Luida’s/ Home’s perspective and focuses on Wolfwood’s reaction. Vash is truly a man where you need to pull every info out of his nose by force.
“This time… it is possible…” What is possible? Wolfwood is focused on Vash’ age, so I understand that he immediately zooms in on Vash dying, but I read that more as a worry for Vash. Vash is passively suicidal. That is a fact.
But why is it a foolish question? What does Luida mean with Vash’ true immortality? Sorry, that I totally do not get. Yes, if Vash used his true power no one would stand a chance, but he doesn’t because he gives everyone else power over him. That reads as a cry for redemption. We, the readers, know that Vash feels an immense loss for Rem and that’s why he needs to protect every last living human. But self flagellation for an idol is still a cry for some kind of absolvement or redemption. Does Luida mean that he could just regenerate? Knives should have been able to do that! He needed a new body because Vash damaged his old one too much. But Vash choses the pain that comes with the mutilations he endured. That is self hate. So why is Wolfwood wrong by assuming it is a cry for redemption? Or is the question foolish because it is too obvious. (I really need input here, please.)
Tumblr media
Uh, okay, I got my answer. Luida agrees with Wolfwood that Vash wishes for a form of redemption.
I still stand by my point that knowing everybody’s face and name may be amazing, but it does not mean true connection. Vash does not feel connected to them for me. If everyone is important, no one is. He is a human caretaker and not part of the group.
Tumblr media
Another user already pointed out that Wolfwood’s face is torn (tell me who you are and I add you, better show me the post and I link that one).
The left side is smiling affectionately and the right side looks forlorn and commiserating. While I don’t think Wolfwood accepts Vash’s point of view, he emphasises with the pain that Vash carries around and comes to terms with Vash’s point of view here. Vash won’t change it. It is something Wolfwood cannot change, even though he wishes to. While he does not understand it, he starts to admire Vash’s resilience and strength. Additionally to that, the talk with Luida helped Wolfwood understand that Vash’s behaviour does not come from not understanding the world, what he thought even at the start of the chapter, but by outright fighting the status quo. The last sentence drives that home for me. Vash is not a true gunman that tries to look on the bright side of life, Vash is a true gunman that keeps trying to look on the bright side of life. This is an active decision of Vash’ part and that makes a big difference. Maybe here, Wolfwood even starts to wish to protect Vash for it.

Okay, part two of my Second Read of Trigun notes! We'll see if I get to the TriMax notes tonight, lol, but they are coming next. Those notes will be a lot more incoherent since that was a first readthrough and I had Many Thoughts.
Trigun Notes: Volume 2
Trigun #2.1: Blood and Thunder
Weirdly enough, NML has normal-looking pigeons in the manga
BLUESUMMERS YOU BITCH
Bluesummers aware that Vash’s pacifism is related to Rem’s sacrifice, throws that in his face and says it holds him back–not inaccurate, but RUDE. [Note: does he know this from Knives whining about her? Interesting thought that Knives has complained about his mom to his codependent right hand man]
So Vash is just hanging out and Bluesummers shows up, makes a ton of threats, leaves a severed head and waltzes off…what an intro.
Monev in that basement for 20+ years, corresponds roughly to the Stampede timeline of 20 from his return home to his confrontation with Vash @ the Windmill
Trigun #2.2: Diablo
“You could say that we’re caretakers of these seeds” - another element to Vash being so protective of humanity
“If [Alex] were alive today, I’m sure he’d do the same.” Rem haunted by Alex’s death like Vash will be haunted by hers
Interesting that we never clearly see Knives’ face in the flashbacks and he’s not even visible until he gloats about killing Rem
“Humans are ridiculous. They waste their lives on foolish feelings.” Hi, pot, meet kettle
Vash goes from angry and brooding to smiling (still sad, but smiling) the second Milly enters, but she again catches a glimpse of what’s underneath. Straight up decides she doesn’t want to touch that, though (can’t blame her!) [Note: still obsessed with how observant she is!!!]
Trigun #2.3: Fragile
Content Warnings: Just barely covered anime nudity
“Be still and listen when people are speaking to you” Knives: condescending in every timeline
“No. I’m the one who’s dangerous…hurry up…come and get me!” My dude is in pain and still has the guts to think that…love him
“If I shoot him now, then she’ll die” which stage of grief is this
So he was 100% about to shoot Monev before he remembered Rem…this bad boy can fit so much rage in him
Trigun #2.4: Scars
“Why does so much trouble follow this man? What kind of fate is he carrying?” His identical twin brother sucks, next question
Tiddy grill some kind of protective measure, maybe?
Meryl asks why Vash doesn’t just put away his guns and hide; Vash cites his inability to save Rem and the fact that he hasn’t settled the score with Knives as the reason why he can’t. [Future note: oooooggggh trimax made this worse too]
“I have only two choices: to die or let others die?! Rem didn’t sacrifice herself for that!” he is SO not just talking about himself here.
“From now on, I’m hunting you!” Run, bitch!!!!
Trigun #2.5: Slaughter Cafe
Content Warnings: Mention of rape and sex slavery, onscreen gore
Okay, I don’t condone murder but these dudes were SO asking for it
Irony  of the guy formerly denied all autonomy turning that back on those who hurt him? [Note: I feel like there’s a lot to unpack here actually]
Legato blaming Vash for him losing his patience…buddy you can say you have trauma and a grudge, that’s justifiable! [Note: Honestly, this moment strikes me as interesting in light of him condemning those who “let” him be violated as the same as those who hurt him…or does he figure that it doesn’t matter if he kills them now because they’ll die later, so him intervening in the moment is just a lapse of judgment? Again lot to unpack here]
Trigun #2.6: Gathering of the Devils
“[Legato’s] eyes were bottomless. I couldn’t read any truth in there.” -Vash
WOLFWOOD!!!
“That’s one well-prepared dead guy” Nightow sir…Don’t
“I’m a priest” Everyone: X to doubt
“Let me guess, your life’s full of nothing but trouble” Yeah, WW, you could say that
Wolfwood: It’s not exactly like that Me: Oh, I know
I also get SUPER nervous about the Eye having confessionals like. What in the blackmail material [Note: They never do end up doing anything with this outside of it being a signifier of Christianity–a smokescreen on Wolfwood’s part, maybe? To seem like a regular priest? Though with the EoM being a more widespread cult in Stampede timeline, I feel like you could still do something with that]
Vash indicating that the orphans shouldn’t steal because WW has no money himself–wouldn’t have snitched if he had?
“I see you hurtin’ and grinnin’ just to bear it.” HHHHHH…calling him out within seconds! Seeing the true nature of another! Flipping that cross timelines!!!
Trigun #2.7: Eye of Invisibility
Honestly obsessed with the design of manga!Jeneora Rock
Can’t tell if that’s supposed to be blood or cremation smoke…both options bad
Update, it’s probably blood
How did I only just now notice he never fixed his arm…he’s LITERALLY about to beat her one-handed
Trigun #2.8: Fifth Moon
Content Warnings: Suicide by fall, gore, anime nudity (Knives has no visible dick), suicidal thoughts
Screams internally
LBR Vash wasn’t just using the pain in his finger
So WW is already dissatisfied with the work he’s doing and having second thoughts, but also convinced he can’t get out–”If I run, I’ll be devoured” [Future note: You give up so easily, Wolfwood]
Meryl smacking the shit out of Vash when he tries to get her to run…gutsy play LMAO
Crazy-eyed, long-haired Knives is 100% on my s2 wishlist NGL
Took a second read to see but uhh yeah “shattered” is a good way to describe that spine
Insert that tumblr post about this somehow still meaning Legato is his favorite here
WW watching all this like “what the actual hell did I walk into” is the only comedy I get
“You’ve hurt so many more than you’ve killed, and compare that to all the destruction you’ve caused…so shouldn’t you point that thing somewhere else?” SHUT up you weird gaslighting man!!!
I MISSED ON A FIRST READ THAT HE SHOT HIS OWN LEGS TO CHANGE THE ANGLE, AY YO??
“Maybe we–I–should have never been born” OOF
“Is this from the Hand of God? Answer me, Vash the Stampede!” Buddy he doesn’t have an answer to that
Trigun: Day In, Day Out
“Mr. John P. Smith (Alias)” Vash…
“He made it through another day with no casualties! Well done!” Lmaoo

let's pool our thoughts everybody | trial 2.1 | bonbon | re: emil, haruki
He can’t find much sad inside of him. It’s all evolved, mutated into its higher, more elegant form; from runny tears to a thick sluice in his gut. Stirring something like a storm in there, raging waves keen to swallow what gets in its way. One day it’ll become a small stone of great weight and sag him down. When that happens, he can finally carve it an epitaph, skip it across the water, skip it so it flies right into somebody’s chest. It’s cold now, but he can use it to stay warm, burn it like charcoal, swallow it down to try and purge the poison. Only needs a spark to ignite a thing west of hate. It’s a sense of justice in the way a bullet is like a train— speed and trajectory, but not purpose.
This killer won’t get to go either. He’s making sure of it.

“Charybdis had it bad with ‘er heart since she was a kid, told me. Bad ‘nuff that she got cooped up fer a long while. One time, on the beach? Had’ta sit ‘round to take care of them after gettin’ spooked too many times, pause, so it wouldn’t go an’ burst on ‘em. I’m not a doctor expert, but if Emil’s sayin’ it coulda tipped them into th’water, I ain’t in no position to if or but about it. The bag on th’chairs was theirs, too, likely been Charybdis teeterin’ by the poolside. I’m guessin’ you mean, by resuccisssat— recussissa— ressuss— gosh dang darn it.”
Deep breath, Bonbon, keep it together.
“You meant the ribs on them that got cracked looked like someone was doin’ mouth-to-mouth, yeah? An’ Haruki’s sayin’ Masaji could see if they was drownin’, an’ we all know that guy,” a hard-set huff here, “—was. Was the kinda guy who’d drop, anythin’, at th’bottom of a hat, t’help folks if he could. Don’t seem prespostirish fer that t’be how it got done, him tryna, coax her back with th’pool net, get to work. If yer ‘round kids, goodness know you’d wanna know how’ta do CPR.”
Boisterousness and appearances have faded away, top notes on a tea that’s been left to oversteep. Residual anxious jitters, maybe, by the way his hand tippa-tap-tippa-taps on the grand table. Maybe the insides are starting to leak out. Perforations in the seal. Contamination, best not to sell.

“If that’s th’case. If yer comin’ up on th’boat without knowin’ who’za an’ wha’za, ripped up with fear, you see a guy kneeled over somebody who ain’t lookin’ much alive an’ you think yer seein’ somebody get killed. An’ yer scared, an’ maybe you wanna help, or maybe yer jus’ worried he’s gonna come after you next fer gettin’ an eye on, so you run over, grab somethin’, swing as hard as ya can, an’ nail ‘em in the head. Big one on Masaji’s head where it hit, small one where it bounced ‘im into the brick.”
He mimes it, as if the scene setting wasn’t enough. Two hands, a clean swing. Right and true unto the temple.
“By the time you done realized what was goin’ on, it’s already too late. Now ya got two dead, an’ it’ll be three’a youse if you don’t get everythin’ straight. Skitter back off on a boat t'shore.”

Hello! I’d like to share some of my notes if I were to Beta-read the most recent Archon Quest. I will be going through what worked, what could be taken out, and what could’ve been better. Note that I’m looking at this through an editor’s lens so I’m going to try NOT to change the plot we were given no matter what my opinions are about it BUT some of the said opinions may slip out.
Also, a bit of a disclaimer: I know that Genshin isn’t an actual literary work but miHoYo is known for its writers’ great storytelling and I’ve always loved their work so it really came as a surprise as to what happened to the mess that is Inazuma Act 3. So yeah.
Contains:
1. What was foreshadowed about the characters and why the payoff of their portrayals felt cheap.
a. About Kokomi and the rebellion.
b. About the Fatui, the James Bond villain wannabe.
c. About Ei and the Raiden Shogun.
2. How Chapter 2, Act 3 could have been the turning point that would have us, as the Traveler, cement our perceptions of the Archons and Gods of Celestia OR what I think the death of Signora was supposed to be but was undermined by this one tidbit.
BONUS: I wrote this before Kokomi’s story quest was released but decided to wait for it before posting. And guess what? I think Kokomi’s Story Quest works better as an Archon Quest. At least, some parts of it.
miHoYo teased us this intelligent leader of the resistance that is well-versed in the Art of War. The end of Ch2: Act 2 showed us a powerful Kokomi. So why was she sidelined all throughout the act?
I actually like the idea of the resistance asking the Fatui for aid. But miHoYo chickened out and made it so that they did it unknowingly. To which I say: how? If Kokomi was so smart she should’ve known better. I figured it was the Fatui within a single sentence, so why didn’t Kokomi?
They should’ve stuck with the concept of the underdogs – or in Kokomi’s words, the little fish – of war in an act of desperation. They could’ve shown a calculated Kokomi “making a deal with the devil” and will do anything to win the fight against the Shogunate.
In her Character Teaser, she was willing to burn the enemies’ supplies – to starve the enemy. She can be ruthless, that’s why Kokomi actively giving Delusions to her foot soldiers would have made much more sense to cause the Fatui to be involved rather than the whole “the Fatui orchestrated everything” schtick.
Which brings me to my next point: when did the Fatui turn into a James Bond villain? I hate that trope so much. It’s like the Deus Ex Machina of villainy. It’s lazy. And it doesn’t even fit the Fatui’s modus operandi.
In the prologue, the Abyss Order corrupted Dvalin and the Fatui was just there waiting to steal Barbatos’ gnosis while the Knights are distracted. Morax decided to retire one day so the Fatui swept right in and offered a test of Liyue in exchange for his gnosis.
The last two locations had their own story to tell while the Fatui was just in the background like the opportunistic antagonist that they are.
It also would have been a stronger plotline to have the already set lore – like the tenuous relationship between Watatsumi and Narukami – be the driving force of the Inazuman Civil War.
The prologue and chapter 1 also delivered what we are told we’re going to get in the Story Preview. That’s why they are satisfying. However, with chapter 2, the way it ended turned out to be more about the Fatui rather than “what do mortals see of the eternity chased after by their god.”
Sure, we got the consequences of the war in the World Quests and some of it in the second act. But making the Fatui the Big Bad in the end takes value away from the actions of the characters that are supposed to be the main feature of this chapter.
How much of the Eternity the Raiden Shogun is pursuing is directly from Ei? How much of it is its own understanding of eternity, coupled with Ei’s memories, and its own response? How much of it is the Fatui’s influence?
I have to say though, I’m fine with the puppet actually. Believe it or not. I have had kinda figured that out with the weird shifting of emotions in and out of the puppet. And the dead glowing eyes. So kudos to the design and animation team for that foreshadowing.
It was also said that the current Electro Archon lost someone dear to her and, while I didn’t think it was a twin, I did figure that the current Electro Archon wasn’t the real Electro Archon. So the whole Baal and Beelzebul backstory didn’t really surprise me. So I guess that was foreshadowed too? But my friends didn’t feel the same way so I don’t know. I’m not touching that.
But I do agree that all of the new lore got info-dumped to us by Yae rather than have us find out about them. To be honest, I would have wanted the backstory of Ei to be in her story quest rather than it be in the Archon Quest. A World Quest could work too.
I just feel like the 2.1 Archon Quest ended up cramming so many themes and subplots when it should’ve been focusing on what was promised: the darkness that is brought by their god.
They already had set up the Visions are people’s motivations/ambitions and that taking them away also takes away their agency.
Then they could’ve played with the idea of the people of Watatsumi looking up to Kokomi as their pseudo-god in-place of Orobashi and so with her actively giving Delusions could fit well in the said theme.
They could’ve made Ei and Kokomi character foils of each other and have the final showdown be about them.
And then it’ll all, of course, end up with the people of Inazuma learning how to work without their “gods” or something like that, which is the overarching theme of the whole series if you think about it.
But as I said, my opinions about the plot shouldn’t matter and I’m only here to make what was already written better.
So let’s talk about something that the puppet has done which didn’t make any sense on the surface level but could’ve been clever if it was done right. Killing La Signora.
Okay. So there is a pivotal moment at the end of the first arc of a three-act story where the main character experiences something that will leave them no choice but to move forward. This usually is a physical thing like Alice falling down the rabbit hole. But it can also be a mental or emotional situation.
Over at Honkai, the first arc ended with the death of a beloved mentor and a shattered world (both external and internal). The characters had no choice but to step up and “to stay alive, bravely” (yes, I won’t stop using this line ever). It was so very well done and even after so many years it still hurt no matter how many times you reread/rewatch the scene.
This reread value is what shows how much a twist is well written.
And that is what miHoYo is known for. So I had high expectations with the plot twist (technically this pivotal moment is called a plot twist because it twists the feel and/or pace of the story). Chapter 2 is the perfect spot to end the first act of a seven-chaptered story. So I’m really preparing myself for the inevitable twist.
But then we ended up with Signora’s death.
Okay. So. They could have used that to show us, as the traveler, how Archons and Celestial beings are unfeeling and not to be trusted. We were told this repeatedly by Dainsleiff and by the Abyss Twin. But it is only textbook writing 101 to show NOT tell.
And Signora’s death could have been this portrayal. Although, to be honest, it would have been more impactful if the one who died is a friend of the Traveler.
Them seeing someone die at the hands of an Archon could have their idea of gods shift. Because there is no turning back once you see the proof right in front of your eyes.
But instead, the puppet did it. So what was the point of Signora’s death if not just a power demonstration? We already knew that the Raiden Shogun is powerful. So why did Signora have to die?
Sure, one can argue that the puppet was enacting the Ei’s will so maybe there was a point. But! In Ei’s story quest, we were told that the puppet would have no hesitation when it comes to killing whereas Ei can show mercy.
Which begs, again, the question: how much of the Raiden Shogun’s actions is a reflection of Ei’s will, and how much of it is a logic response of an artificial intelligence from Ei’s memories?
Honestly? I don’t like that they killed off Signora. It doesn’t feel right. I would’ve taken Beidou’s death over Signora’s no matter how much I love Beidou. There was just no build-up to it and it feels weak. I… didn’t feel anything besides confusion. The anger only came later because of the wasted potential.
But overall, I do think they could’ve made it work if it were actually Ei doing the killing.
--
So I just did Kokomi’s Story Quest and man. The soldiers wanting to continue the war is what they really should have made the motivations of the actual war rather than have it as a post-war response and then have Kokomi fix their mess.
Seriously. While it was really interesting to see the usual trauma response of soldiers who had only known war their whole life, they wasted this idea, man.
Before doing the Archon Quest I had thought that the Watatsumi had a hand on the Vision Hunt Decree. Because if I were a tactician, I would have made something to anger the people of my enemies and have them have their internal issues. And while the Shogunate is weak, that’s when I will strike and claim Inazuma for my people and my god.
Then Orobashi will rise once more.
Yep.
Obviously, I really wanted Kokomi to be a more active character in the Archon Quest.
Anyways. If you reached the end, thank you for reading this ~1.5k words of musings. Tell me what you think. Or don’t. You do you.

Didyme, Part 2: Something, Something, Plato's Allegory of the Cave
Continuing from here, and we’re doing sub-parts for this bit. I’m genuinely surprised I had this much to say. (And fun fact, I almost lost the entire goddamn post, but fortunately I was copy-pasting into Word just in case. Not today, Satan.)
2.1. What Canon Tells Us
Didyme’s murder by Aro (and with Caius’ apparent assistance, either during or afterwards), is only mentioned on the page in Life and Death, the 10th Anniversary gender-swapped version of Twilight. Edythe/Edward mentions it briefly when discussing the painting of the leaders Carine/Carlisle brought back from Volterra, but it’s just background information with little narrative weight. I bring it up just to highlight Caius’ involvement and knowledge -- I’ll get back to that.
Now, here’s the “canon” backstory we have to work with. Per the illustrated guide, Didyme was Aro’s younger sister, and he turned her at some point after meeting Marcus, Caius, and Athenadora. Interestingly, the Guide doesn’t say anything about Aro returning to Didyme out of brotherly love; apparently he just wanted to see if she would have a powerful gift like his, only to be underwhelmed (”disappointed,” according to his Guide entry) by her actual ability -- she made people happy just by being around them. Then she and Marcus fell in love, sharing “the strongest romantic bond of any of the Volturi” (from Marcus’ Guide entry), and this prompted a suddenly very single Aro to seek out his own mate, Sulpicia. The Guide says Didyme “distracted” Marcus from Aro’s goals, and that the pair eventually made plans to split off on their own, leading Aro to murder Didyme so he could hold onto Marcus and his valuable gift. Although nothing written so far suggests that Aro even liked his sister, the Guide does state that Aro “truly loved her” and that his grief upon killing Didyme was genuine.
Apparently Caius’ role in all is was something Meyer thought up later, because none of the leaders’ Guide entries mention him being in on it. (You can’t see me, but I’m staring pointedly at Part One.)
2.2. Fuck Canon, Actually
(This just seemed like the funniest place for a cut. Continued below~)
I’ll be honest with you, person who’s persistent/unfortunate enough to still be here: very little about this murder scenario makes sense to me. I’m going to start with the “disappointing” nature of Didyme’s gift and that it was supposedly much less useful to Aro than Marcus’, because that’s just...stupid, frankly, and there’s no way Aro would have missed the inherent utility of Didyme’s gift. I don’t even have to read into anything to get this idea -- the Guide itself shows us how useful it is! It says right there in Marcus’ entry that Aro went off to turn Didyme, and returned with his sister, “along with the first members of the guard -- vampires who were drawn to Didyme’s aura of happiness.” That is a direct quote.
Just -- I practically shrieked when I read that. You’re telling me that Didyme’s gift was the stated reason their coven got its first subordinates, and I’m supposed to believe that Aro thought that was disappointing? Fuck off! Fuck off!! Even if Didyme’s happiness aura isn’t as powerful as Corin’s opium haze, well, Aro doesn’t have Corin yet, does he? He has every reason in the world to want to keep Didyme around, drawing other vampires to his cause -- even if most of those vampires aren’t gifted or skilled enough to join the guard, it’s still good PR.
At this early stage in the Volturi’s rise to power, it isn’t a good time to lose Didyme -- or any of his inner coven, really. Yet Aro apparently considered her disposable enough that he killed her. I can’t square this with what we know about Aro: that he’s still coherent despite holding god-knows how many people’s lives in his head; that he’s very intelligent; that he’s cunning, charming, and persuasive. Aro, once he learned they were thinking about leaving, would have tried to talk to Didyme and Marcus and done everything in his power to convince them to stay just a bit longer, until the Volturi’s position was more secure. And maybe he did; the timeline of all this is hazy, but nothing in the Guide suggests that Aro jumped straight to duplicity and murder. Clearly, though, whatever negotiations or arguments he presented failed. So what does their desire to leave the Volturi at this critical stage say about Didyme, or Marcus for that matter?
2.3. What It Says About Didyme and Marcus (Mostly Headcanon)
Brace yourself, because we’re into full headcanon territory now. To follow me, please refer to @therealvinelle ‘s meta about the larger mission of the Volturi and why they’re necessary, because I’m starting from the perspective that the Volturi are ultimately a force working in vampires’ and humans’ favor. While Meyer and the Guide would have you believe that Aro’s just power-hungry, actually looking at the impact of the Volturi and the benefits of enforcing secrecy shows that his broader vision isn’t just world domination, but establishing a world in which vampires and humans can both thrive and endure. There’s no way the rest of the inner coven was unaware of this goal; we know Aro talks a lot, so he’s certainly talked his coven’s ears off about this.
Now, we know very little about Marcus and what he was like before he was all dead inside. Based on what would be a logical balance of personalities, with Aro as lead decision-maker and Caius as ruthless enforcer, it seems likely that Marcus was originally the voice of reason and/or mercy. I also think Marcus would have had a strong sense of duty. The Guide says that Aro was the first friend Marcus had as a vampire, and I believe that Marcus cared about him very much and was committed to the Volturi. I think he would have been genuinely conflicted about leaving, especially considering the stabler, safer world the Volturi have been striving to build, and which they haven’t yet secured. Again, it’s a very bad time for any of the leadership to split off -- but in the end, Marcus and Didyme are going to do it anyway.
What for, though? Why leave? @theoriginalcarnivorousmuffin has an interesting take on that question here: that Didyme saw that she and Marcus would be locked into the Volturi life and a thankless existence for eternity and tried to opt out while she still could. I like it a lot, it’s a great post and that scenario makes sense, but the tone of it feels...too forgiving. Maybe that’s because I’m evil. But the way I see it, given the magnitude of the Volturi’s mission, and its (at best) very tenuous grip on power at the time Marcus and Didyme plan to leave (they haven’t even defeated the Romanians yet), jeopardizing the entire operation so that they can pursue their romance unburdened strikes me as...well, fundamentally selfish on some level, so much that I find myself side-eyeing Didyme and Marcus for it. Although to be clear, it’s not the desire to live their own lives apart from the Volturi that I find selfish, just the timing of their departure.
Honestly, I’d like not to vilify another female character if I don’t have to. Given everything I’ve just said, I see Didyme in much the same way as I see Bella: not a bad person, but someone with definite selfish tendencies. At best, she’s likely short-sighted or naive if she doesn’t see how leaving the Volturi at this stage is fucking them over in a big way. However, I hesitate to read into the happiness aura as a straightforward indication of Didyme’s fundamental goodness; I think she probably was kind, charming, and delightful to be around, hence the nature of her gift -- but that capacity for selfishness is still there. (I’m certain Meyer wants us to take her gift as proof of Didyme’s goodness, to reinforce how evil Aro is for killing her...but I think I’ve made my disdain for what Meyer wants me to think pretty clear.)
2.4. MURDER MOST FOUL
I am not saying it was justifiable or okay for Aro to murder his sister. I’m really not. It’s actually better, from a character standpoint, that it isn’t okay -- that Aro has to carry this with him for the rest of his life while Marcus sits in the throne next to him, reduced to a husk, so that in effect Aro has lost them both after all. It’s got that Greek tragedy element @theoriginalcarnivorousmuffin mentioned in her post. (Even better from that standpoint, the Guide implies that Aro found Chelsea relatively soon after killing Didyme, which compounds the tragedy.) I mean, it’s terrible, and it hurts me because I love Aro, but it’s compelling stuff.
What I am saying is, I can see how their insistence on leaving might have deeply hurt and offended him. And that brings me to my issue with the calculated murder scenario the Guide gives us -- I still think Didyme’s gift is too valuable for Aro to throw away by killing her in cold...venom (or whatever), even as the price for keeping Marcus in the fold. Plus, there’s the fact that Aro does love Didyme, and I imagine her gift makes it very difficult for people to think of harming her...when they’re calm, anyway.
Yeah, the only way I can really see the murder happening is if Aro killed Didyme in the heat of an argument about her leaving, possibly even by accident -- except you can’t accidentally kill a vampire, can you? It’s a very deliberate process wherein you have to dismember them and burn every piece, which also means it probably takes long enough that any irrational, overwhelming rage would wear off before you were done. But now that you’ve started....
I mean, at that point it would certainly be awkward to put your half-rubble sister back together, and Aro would be in a whole other load of shit even if he did. It’s possible, given what we’re told, that Aro could have lashed out and yanked Didyme’s head off before snapping out of it, only to realize that his sole option now is to finish the job. If he doesn’t kill Didyme now, she and Marcus won’t just leave, they’ll be sworn enemies of Aro from then on. And thanks to Didyme’s gift being the draw for a lot of the guard, and the inherently bad look of a leader who would brutally attack his own sister, a chunk of the guard would probably leave with them, destroying Aro’s plans. No, the only way to salvage it is to follow through.
Then Aro has to call in Caius for help with the cover-up, because it wasn’t actually planned and it’s just pure luck that no one walked in on the murder as it was happening.
And maybe Aro learns a hard lesson about learning to let people walk away, leaving the possibility open that they could be drawn in again. Because if Aro had just waited, he would have found Chelsea, and with her gift he could have had Marcus and Didyme back again.
Assuming everything didn’t fall apart as soon as they left, of course. But that’s a whole other what-if scenario.

— title : battle scars
— word count : 2.1 k words
— pairing : daryl dixon x reader
— summary : during a quick run, you fall into some trouble with some walkers though daryl’s love language is spoken with actions and not words.
— warnings : mentions witnessing death, near death experiencing, extremely minor cursing, mentions of blood and gore
           ✧・゚: *✧・゚:* requested      /     requests are open    *:・゚✧*:・゚✧
okay so i requested this a while ago to someone else and they said they’d write it but i never found it  and i forgot who i asked so i might of missed it, but maybe a walker grabs readers hair or something so she looks for something to tie it up with and daryl gives her his bandana and she just decides to claim it or some cute shit like that??? it’s okay if you don’t wanna♥️♥️
Shap rays penetrate effortlessly through the barred windows, the tatty scraps of cloth providing little protection against the blinding morning sunshine. You pull your arm to cover your eyes, not quite ready to be released from the grips of your slumber.. the nights before a run have always been the most troublesome. Your mind running through every which way the day could turn out, pleading to your mind to focus on the positive outcomes that are always on the table of possibility. Both the positivity and negativity keeping you awake into the late hours.
The only consolation being when you were gifted the image of a blanket of stars over the dark sky, free from any light pollution that was known among many.
“ time to get your ass up, sleepy head. “
You don’t need to remove the arm that lays heavily draped across your head to know who’s familiar drawl that belongs to. Daryl Dixon. His voice in being a quite distinct quality about him. Though there’s more than that you think humorously as a smirk that lazily snakes its way onto your lips.
“ yeah, yeah. I’m up. “ you respond to him as you find yourself focusing on his form in the doorway, clutching the bed linen that serves as a makeshift door in his grip. Your mind wonders if you’ve ever seen him in a state of inactivity that held no tension .
Members of the group continue to filter into the main hall at a leisurely pace, sleep still clinging to their backs in a losing battle.
Sitting off to the side, your gaze settles to the lone male. Daryl nods from you to the space across from him, a bowl laid across from him.
“ thanks for saving me some breakfast. “ you speak, breaking the silence as you pick up the spoon and lifting a heap of oats onto it. Knowing you would need the energy, of course, the world ending brought a new meaning to breakfast being the most important meal of the day.
“ yeh, don’t need ya collapsin’ on me now. “
Amusement tugged at both corners of your mouth as you peer at him, even after all the time had passed, he still doesn’t want to show how much he cares for the people in the group. Even the newcomers from the Woobury group. Of course, you know.. you see what it means to him see everyone safe, to avoid losing yet another member of his new found family to the rotting fingers of death. The finality of death landing heavier blows on his already bruised heart over again is not something he wishes to fall victim to.
“ you know you’ll never get rid of me, I’ll haunt you from my grave! “ you say, joy lighting up your features as you chuckle, momentarily forgetting your breakfast.
A silence embeds itself comfortably between the two of you, something that becomes less and less awkward every time you find yourself in the vicinity of the man. Human contact and communication had to be quickly developed and it wasn’t long before you became comfortable chatting with everyone as if you had known them for years, but Daryl isn’t completely like those members in your group. He speaks with his actions and it took you long enough to realise that, which is why you found no awkwardness sneaking itself around your throat to force words to fall from your lips unwillingly.
“ so, where are we going first? “
“ ‘saw there was a sports store a few miles out a few days ago. they’ll have some’a those bike chains for those fences. “
Nodding in response, you understand it’s nothing more than a simple task. Though, nothing is truly simple now, even something so minor can cost you your life. The first few days you had spent up at the quarry were plagued with nightmares, every day when you saw the sun begin to dim roused a deep fear that bled into your heart, opening a deep pit in the bottom of your stomach, thinking about the rotting corpses and the frenzied deaths of those you loved. The night time cradled your worst moments, to have to close your eyes and to only be left alone with your thoughts would haunt you endlessly.
Shaking your head to yourself, you rid yourself of that dark energy clouding above you. You have dedicated a lot of time and drive to make progress, it’s not something you yearn to be thrown away as if it were nothing.
“ are we going to pick anything else up, or is it just those? “
“ nah, no use gettin’ ourselves killed. “ he responds, focusing on eating breakfast.
You nod your head swiftly, you certainly can’t argue with that logic! Knowing others have lost their lives or have been horribly injured attempting to go the extra mile.
“ well, I won’t be disagreeing with that plan. quick and simple. “
“ sounds like.. “
He lifts his line of sight to stare at you as his sentence trails off into silence, a passing moment crawling along almost uninterrupted before the realisation of what he meant erupted in your mind. He’s talking about you!
“ that’s so rude! “ you say with wide eyes, creasing up and shaking with laughter.
“ I ain’t wrong. “
Even Daryl begins to ease up and chuckle to himself, a small part of him had been cowering in the corner thinking that his words may have been too offensive, even for you. But seeing the sparkle in your eyes as you find amusement is enough to banish it permanently.
The two of you leave the confines of the prison, your arms are locked around his midsection as you are settled behind him on the motorcycle. The speed of it hit a steady pace, the scenery around you nothing more than passing blurs merging into a melting pot of Earth tones.
Slowing to a stop, the two of you get off the bike and make your way into the abandoned store, your eyes scan it in its entirety. Confidence fills you in the thought that it is older than you and definitely had seen better days. Dirt and grime lined the structure from the bottom, sliding up the walls to the top of it. Your brows burrow in repulsion, though surely it can’t be as bad as the prison. Or how it used to be..
“ stay back. “
You watch as he bangs a hand against the grungy window, hardly anything could be seen through the layer of dirt that had made its home there. A visual picture certainly would not be helping either of you this time.
It took around two minutes for a series of slams against the windows to startle you, your heartbeat begins to speed up slightly at the suddenness of the noise. Even when you’re expecting the arrival of walkers, they still manage to catch you off guard. The two of you nod to one another, you move to open the door for four walkers to pile out. Your attention is kept to the two who made a beeline for your body. You step backwards with your knife now in your hand, hoping to create distance between the two of them for you to be able to stab one of them.
One of them grabs your shoulders, immediately your hand goes to shove one of its away from yours. Momentarily it loses grip and trips into you, luckily your hand with the knife is faster than you realise and you feel the resistance its skull and brain give you but you’re stronger and ensure it hits the mark. The change is instantaneous, the walker descends quickly, taking you with it. All your strength and fight is dedicated to pushing the dead weight off of you, your arms make progress as it falls next to you with a thud.
Scrambling to the space next to you to retrieve the knife still sleeping snugly within its head, your breath is ragged from the physical exhaustion and stress of the situation. Your eyes are wide with fear and it takes more strength than you realise to pull it out with a sickly squelch, a darkened liquid coats the once shining blade. Though you have little time to study its form before you feel fingers clawing at your hair, the surprise causes you to drop the knife and your hands to move towards the decaying ones who have secured their grip.
Screams erupt from your lips as your fingers move upwards, pushing what you guess is the walker’s snapping mouth that feels so close. Close enough that you’re unable to distinguish if the breaths you feel close to your neck is from the walker or your imagination. Never before had you felt like a prey animal before, you’re too close to death for your liking, you’d seen people turn from being bitten and to be seconds away fills you with dread. Your fight becomes less and less by the passing second, your body is too tired to fight itself and the walker at the same time, incapacitation is becoming your reality.. warning to confront you one step at a time.
One moment all you can hear are snarls and a warm pain that shoots through the roots of your hair, the next it feels like time has stopped. The grip that was once securely locked is now absent, you don’t know where to look.. all you know is you don’t want to look behind you.
“ y’alright? “
Your sight moves upwards, squinting as you take in the face in front of you. It’s Daryl.
“ uh, I -- “ your voice breaks at the end as you reply, shock overwhelming your body. You drop your head towards the ground in disturbance, refusing to allow your emotions to spiral, you focus on a spot on the ground.
Daryl moves towards you, his gaze checking you over, though begins to search through your hair to make sure the walker has not scratched or punctured your skin with its filthy teeth. Seeing you in that state with the walker so close to dimming your light pushed him, pushed him to fight harder than he has with a few walkers. He knew he could have sent a bolt through its skull, but rage filled his entire being as it drove him. Sending him in its direction and sending a blade through it with his entire force.
“ hey, it didn’t get ya. y’hear me? it didn’t get ya. “ he says, bringing your attention back to him. Though whether it was confirmation more for his benefit or yours, he can’t tell.
“ I never even.. I knew, I.. “
“ y’ain’t got your battle scar yet. “
“ not with you around, luckily. “ you reply with a shake of your head, a soft tone is all you can muster in that minute.
Even in spite of yourself and how you feel, a light chuckle coming from you dusts the air gently as if it never occurred. Shaking your head with a smile that barely registers you push yourself onto your knees and make a move to stand. He’s there to help you up, a tender force clutches your upper arm that you almost fail to associate with him.
The both of you share the same thought unknowingly, that your entire being feels nothing but sensitivity. Shock from enduring the ordeal leaving your body made from nothing more than glass that could shatter at a moment’s notice.
“ hey.. “
A bandana is dangling in front of your vision, confused, you take it into your fingers. Your touch feels the rough material as you run your fingertips across it. Like a light bulb, understanding lights your features up with the power of a thousand suns. Your hair is gathered over to one side, collected to form something of a braid now rests over your shoulder.. with the bandana keeping it together.
“ thank you, Daryl. “ gratitude coats your words, you are extremely thankful for his intervention “ this is mine now though.. “ you inform him, a hand moving to finger the material that now has a new home in your hair.
“ yeah, y’wish. “
“ I meant what I said though, thank you. if you weren't here I’d be one of them. “ a sigh from your mouth releases, a shudder crawling its way through yourself. The shake being easily visible.
“ that ain’t ever gonna happen, I ain’t gonna let it. “
A dull smile pulls at the corners of your lips, a sadness coating your expression at his words. Moving towards him gradually, your arms slide around his midsection. Knowing that those promises can’t always be fulfilled, but that’s Daryl a thought crosses the centre of your mind. He always wants to save everyone. You barely register the light weight of two palms on your back, but a warm light grows in size within you at the realisation.
“ you can let this bandana be mine though.. my good luck charm when you’re not around. “
“ fine. “ Daryl gives in, a hint of laughter in his response as he speaks to you.

Chapter 2: Introduction
After you had deemed leaking your information safe, the both of you spoke most of the night away in whispers. With the exception when a rustle was heard from the outside, worried it's another creature ready to attack. That is until you deemed it important to catch wink of sleep.
You're the first to wake up to Nick loudly snoring. One glance at the window lets you know the sun is brightly shining. The rays softly hit your face and you watch as the small particles dance in the gleams of light. There are no curtains in this particular room, proving it to be quite early. Eight in the morning seems to be an adequate time to wake up by your guess.
You look over his resting body and whack Nick in the head, which prompts him to wake up with a jolt. Frantically looking around for the source of his pain until his eyes connect with yours with burning annoyance, “Are you insane?!”
His exclamation is loud. Very loudly in fact, and that prompts you to slap a hand against his mouth to quiet his yells, “Are you insane? We don't know if the creature is still out there or if there are more of them! Have you seen what it looks like and what it can do?”
The whisper is firm and harsh, sure of the fact he hasn't seen it. The image from the night before makes you shiver. It's sinking sharp teeth showing up, which makes you shake your head to get rid of the image. A dead Shadow is certainly not on your to-do list, but you have an inkling it'll eventually come to that if you like it or not. An inevitable decision will have to be made for your survival in this place.
He apologetically looks into my eyes and his puppy eyes cause my hand to lower… Not before delivering a sharp punch to his arm. Nick whines out and clutches his injured arm.
“I'm sorry. I wasn't thinking and to be truthful, you made me yell at you,” he shakes his head at me with a mocking smile. Your face showcases an unidentifiable emotion and that makes Nick nervous.
“I can make you yell more,” you start tauntingly, “after I serve you as a main meal to that Shadow.”
“Stop! Why would you make your friend a meal for the– “he thinks back to what you referred to it as,”– Shadow?”
“Yes, I think it suits the appearance of whatever it is,” you reply back with a slight laugh, “And to answer your question. I'm pretty sure your annoying ass would taste delicious for the creature.”
Your mood has started to increase little by little after having someone at your side who's fighting for the same as you. Hope was lit up in you at the thought of an ally after you had talked through the abyss yesterday. Engrossed in getting to know each other and making your goals clear before you get into any alliance with someone.
Nick just laughs along with you, slapping his knee as if you told a great joke. Yet you didn't. At least it doesn't look that way to you. Sure, you laughed, but it's not that funny, come on…
“So, you think my ass tastes delicious?” He suggestively wiggles his eyebrows.
“Oh,” you devilishly smirk at him, “I'm sure it does, but not to humans.”
• • •
After both of your morning routines that consist barely of any proper hygienic setting, you both deem it important to stretch and even decide to venture outside. You've both settled on finding a new base and spoke about it during the night. Possibly a sturdier and a stronger house that can be easily fortified. First, you'll have to find something like that and then go scavenging for some planks, nails, and food, though. That is if there aren't planks and nails in the newfound house already.
Later, you find yourself wandering around the neighbourhood. You haven't stumbled across any Shadows, yet, which you are extremely thankful for. It seems they just vanish during the day and reappear during the night. It's just a theory of yours, though. Nick was against the idea at first, but after being out for more than an hour, he begrudgingly agreed with you. Finding it useless to argue with you anymore on who's theory is the right one.
You wander around the neighbourhood while chatting about some stupid things.
“Do you think that house would be good?” You point towards a two-story house that looks to be enough for plenty of people. There's still a sign stating, ‘For Sale’.
“Abandoned and looking good?” He happily questions, “Hell yes, we're taking this!”
“Well– you technically cannot take a house just out of blue or at all,” you sigh.
“Shut up! Are you objecting? It's not like we know if there are any other people except for us. We could be stranded here alone,” he states sadly.
The sad look on his face only lasts a couple seconds before he breaks into a big grin and takes you by the hand. Tugging on your joined hands and almost sending you tumbling to the ground face first if it weren't for you catching your stability in time. You're seriously surprised by his strength when he's happy for something. You just shake your head at that and start to follow him willingly. Though, you're still on high alert for any possible dangers. Nick doesn't show any reluctance to going straight to the house, so at least one person must stay on guard.
As your feet carry you across the chalky pavement with ease you wonder what happened to this world. The buildings don't look to be in the best shape and the streets are presumably swarmed with Shadows at night. Some lampposts look to be broken and rusty, flowers envelop them in a conspicuous design and lie on the ground, while the rest don't even seem to be working anymore. At least not on this avenue. The grass and flowers overgrow the buildings and concrete. Nature visibly winning against human inventions.  Houses are sprayed with different slogans that you presume were left behind by people that are long deceased. The most appealing and provoking to you is, ‘Blood for the Blood God’ and ‘We have some unfinished business, green boy. I hope you're ready’.
Who left them here and what do they exactly mean? There are a few ideas of their meaning swarming your head, but you know better than anything to presume certain things. Some are better to not be answered at all either way. Are the people who made them still alive or long gone? Do they turn into Shadows? What are Shadows even made of and how can you kill them? Can you kill them?
I unfortunately can't answer you, Reader. You'll understand later. Or will you be left with no clue up until the end?
You're already through the doorway when your thoughts fade to dust. Nick has decided to wander off on his own and search the house for any possible materials or food and water, so you set to do the same. It honestly isn't as huge as you thought it would be. Nevertheless, there's still enough for the both of you.
You roam the lower floor while Nick makes sure to scavenge the upper. Therefore, you scout the living room first. There, you can see ruined wine cabinets, a completely scratched sofa, a dismantled bookshelf, shattered vases, broken chairs, and side tables. The mess is accompanied by pieces of glass and clay. You thank the stars for wearing shoes. Your feet would've been pierced by so many sharp shards if it weren't for them and you don't think you'd even have enough medical supplies to assist your wounds. Not like you'd voluntarily step on them, but having this cluster of broken glass right here can prove disadvantageous in the future.
The planks from the wine cabinets and bookshelf can be used for boarding up the windows. Thankfully, those look to be still intact. You can't use the sofa for sleeping, therefore the only usage is barricading the door. If you can even move it all the way to the front door. The chairs' legs can serve as temporary weapon parts along with the glass if you're successful in finding tape. If not, attaching some nails to them with a plank should suffice.
After you make sure you've searched everything, every nook and cranny of the living room, you walk to the kitchen to find a relatively clean place. From the looks of it, you're pretty sure the stove isn't working. The cabinets hanging off of the wall contain some stale chips and chocolate and that fact presses you to leave it as a last resort. You move onto the lower cabinets, only to come face to face with no food, but they hold some remains of tape and scissors. Nothing edible or drinkable. You then try turning the faucet on, but no water comes out. A disappointed sigh leaves you and you move onto checking the last place: the bathroom.
Upon closer inspection, you're able to deduce there's just bunch of pills way past the expiration date and you can't even tell what type of pills they are since the packaging and label is gone. The toilet and shower are meaningless. Well– not completely. You can still use the toilet to satisfy your needs. It doesn't sound appealing, but it'll have to do if anything.
“What have you found?”
That question causes you to slam your head against the cabinet under the sink you've been rummaging through and you have to take a second to recollect your thoughts and rub the pain away. You send Nick a glare, to which he just replies with a wink. Closing the doors, you stand up and adjust your clothes.
“I've found some planks, chair legs, nails, glass and clay. The sofa is unfortunately fruitless for sleeping, but we can still use it for barricading the front door. I can explain the usages of the former to you later,” you both exit the bathroom, but you continue with your dialogue, “I also spotted some pills, which are out of expiration, so I would be against swallowing any of them. They might not hurt you, but they might as well be like swallowing a pill with no effect. There's some chips and chocolate. Both stale, so our last resort. Water doesn't work either. What have you found up there?”
“I haven't found much,” he scratches his head, eyeing the brown satchel hanging at his side. You throw him a suspicious look about the accessory hanging at his hip, but don't mention it in hopes he'll enclose more information regarding it.
“I gave you a full report of what we have in inventory and you give me just one sentence that contains no information whatsoever?” you shake your head in disbelief, turning the corner and stopping in the middle of the kitchen.
“No! I was getting ready to tell you everything,” Nick argues with you, but you won't let him slip so easily. A teasing gleam shining in your eyes that he doesn't like in the slightest.
“Oh, yeah? I hear no words coming from your mouth, except for bullshit.”
“Let me speak, for fuck's sake,” he grumbles, which you just reply with a wave of your hand, “We have a pretty soft bed up there that has enough space for the both of us, but if you're not comfortable being in one bed I can always take the floor. Courtesy and all that crap, but I wouldn't be against sharing the bed with you. Anyways, there are plenty of planks from demolished furniture, small number of nails and a hammer. I also found some arrows, but there is no bow, so we can just use them for stabbing people's eyeballs.”
You hop up onto the kitchen island, kicking your feet in boredom. Quietly apologising when you kick his thigh by accident from the proximity, “And you told me you haven't found much… Anything else worth mentioning?”
“No. There isn't anything important on the second floor that I'm aware of. Save for the stuff I already told you about.”
“If I discover something valuable, I'll use those arrows to stab your eyeballs. Mark my words, mister.”
“Aye, aye, captain,” he salutes me, and you reach over to flick him in the forehead.
“So, can we agree on using this house as our safe place and base?”
“For sure,” he rolls his eyes at the seemingly stupid question. “Do we have any other choice?”
Though, what you aren't aware of, there's a hooded figure spying on your progress and conversation from across your building. A crossbow on their back, loaded with a poisoned arrow. They hold an uncertain smile, wonder and worry flashing through their eyes at the same time. Though, their expression turns stoic afterwards, quietly slipping further into the dark night.

hit me with that lore pls!
THANK YOU- HFDJS OK Ok OK okokok I already know I have to put this under a cut because I have been collecting crumbs on my breaks at school and yelled about this incomprehensibly last night at my friends
So here's the lore behind Raiden's trailer, neatly(??) compiled, with some wiki links because I feel like being over the top today >:)
(tw death mentions)
Alright so to start off, here's the group photo:
Tumblr media
So from left to right we have Sasayuri, Chiyo, and Kitsune Saiguu (around Raiden, who we all know), all happy, and this picture is likely sometime before, or soon after the Archon Wars. Because they're all together! They're alive and not fighting :)
Tumblr media
Sasayuri dies in the initial Civil War between the people of Watatsumi and Narukami, during the battle against Orobashi, which is why this is the image shown before he's taken from the group photo. (I don't actually know if Raiden was the Reigning Archon at the time because the person who killed off Orobashi is referred to as Raiden Ogosho? Likely that that will be clarified in 2.1 somewhere)
Tumblr media
The next of Raiden's friends to disappear (this time at the end of Raiden's own spear) is Chiyo, after being "swallowed by a beast of sin" (do I know exactly what that means? No, but if Genshin has taught me anything it's that the Archon's perceptions of things influence things in their nation so it may have been Orobashi? There may be some other Big Thing held captive beneath Inazuma but I don't know any specifics on that). Chiyo turned against Raiden, and Raiden was forced to strike her down herself. Chiyo did escape into the forest and we don't know what happened from there but she's probably dead by now
Tumblr media
And then we have Kitsune Saiguu, which is probably the most well-known death among Raiden's friends, because of the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual. She dies in the Cataclysm, destroyed and absorbed as filth in the roots of the Sacred Sakura.
Now, I've gone through all of the people in the group photo in the beginning, but that's not all of the people besides Raiden shown in the video!!
Tumblr media
BECAUSE WE HAVE HER?? AND WHO IS SHE!! Now I have two main theories on this:
1) This is the first Electro Archon, her Kimono, while being cut in a similar style, has a different design. Instead of Raiden's darker and desaturated purple color scheme, she has lighter purple tones, and what looks like cherry blossom designs on her sleeves where Raiden has her eye design
Tumblr media Tumblr media
See? Differences in designs! Plus, the lady with the parasol has no thigh-highs
2) She's Raiden's past self and one that Raiden desperately wants to be again. I don't really have evidence for this theory considering that Raiden is never presented wearing this Kimono, or being without her thigh-highs, and she reaches for this person like she's someone Raiden knew and just wants to hug one more time, but a lot of my friends are leaning into that theory? So uh, I figure it's worth tossing here?
Now do I know what exactly all of this means? No, but I am having thoughts!!!!
1) Raiden is obviously traumatized by all of this, having closed herself and her nation off from most things, probably collecting Visions to bring some power back to herself (possibly as a desperate attempt to feel like she's in control?).
That's it that's the lore thank you for letting me ramble <333 :)

Ch. 2.1, 2.2
Byleth woke with a start.
She'd been dreaming. The same dream she used to have before Sothis awakened in her. A vicious war, a lonely girl on a giant throne. Her thundering heartbeat slowed with each breath she took. It was only after the excitement subsided that she felt how sore her body was.
The empty space beside her was a reminder. As empress, she had obligations just as her wife did. With a sigh, she rolled out of bed and got dressed, each movement reminding her of how fragile she was without her Crest. The generous tray of bread, cheese, and sausage did not go unnoticed, though Byleth found that her stomach was not as enthusiastic as usual.
By the time she stepped into the halls, Hubert was waiting for her.
"I take it you slept well."
"Too well." They fell into lockstep, heading to the gardens to treat with Church officials on Edelgard's behalf.
"Her Majesty has noticed your sleeping habits. Should she be concerned?"
"No." There was a beat of silence. "What were those reports you wanted to brief me on? More disappearances?"
Hubert nodded. "As you know, people have been abductions across the country, primarily near churches. Additionally, there has been an influx of demonic beast encounters."
"So this this the work of Those Who Slither." Byleth said.
"Presumably. Especially given that Thales has access to the Kingdom's supply of Crest Stones. I have no doubt that Cornelia was responsible for giving Dimitri's lapdog that brilliant idea on the Tailtean Plains."
They rounded a corner. Something wasn't right. Byleth wasn't sure if it was her general uneasiness from her newfound vulnerability, or if it was the situation at hand. The hustle and bustle of the palace was comforting, though. It reminded Byleth of the monastery. The ghost of a memory -- one of a foreign-looking city in the height of prosperity -- came to mind.
"Seiros is dead. The goddess is gone. What's their goal?"
"To subjugate humankind, obviously." Hubert replied drily. "If you haven't already noticed, Thales and his ilk see us as inferior lifeforms." He slowed to a stop and turned to face her. "Our more pressing issue at this moment is that the Church is blaming Her Majesty for these incidences."
"I'll meet you at the pavilion in ten minutes."
"I don't see why you feel the need to prepare the refreshments yourself, but if you insist..."
Byleth smiled. "You know, Hubert, you can tell me that you like it when I make tea."
----------------------------------
The kitchens were strangely empty, save for a few palace cats lazing about. The bakers had left a tray of tantalizing pastries out for Byleth to take, and the boiling water left over the fire and the tea set laid out on the counters were obviously for her use. Normally, Byleth was greeted warmly whenever she came down to fetch tea or extra food.
Preparing tea was a routine Byleth found solace in. Measuring the leaves out before rinsing them with hot water, polishing each cup, and arranging the dessert plates was a process she had memorized just as well as weapon maintenance. Once everything was ready, she carried the tray carefully, backing out of the double doors.
Just as she did so, someone rammed into her, hard.
The tray and its contents clattered to floor and the sound echoed down the hall. Byleth stumbled back until her back hit the wall behind her. A woman in servant's clothing rushed her, knife in hand. Byleth instinctively went for her dagger. The woman may have caught her off-guard, but she was no fighter. Dodging her assailant's jab was nothing, and in the blink of an eye, her dagger found its mark, up and under the woman's sternum. Hot blood dribbled down the weapon's hilt, wetting her hand. The would-be assassin went limp, and Byleth let go, letting the body drop amidst the mess of spilled tea, pastries, and shattered porcelain.
She knelt down and retrieved her weapon. The blade caught, and the sound of steel scraping bone rattled in her head.
With how loud her pulse was in her ears, Byleth barely registered the footsteps approaching from behind. In front of her, Shamir darted out from around the corner. There was a blur of motion and the whoosh of a knife being thrown an arm's breadth away followed by the crunch of a body hitting the stone floor. A man, dressed like a gardener.
More guards flooded the area. Shamir walked up to her, calm even after killing a man.
"Are you hurt?"
"No," Byleth couldn't stop thinking about the blood drying on her skin.
"Are you sure?" Shamir held up the first attacker's knife, steel stained with red. Her gaze was trained on Byleth's side.
Sure enough, there was a slice just above her hip. It was shallow, maybe half an inch deep. It was hard to say exactly with the blood continuing to well up and trickling out, staining her clothes.
"Here." Shamir wadded up one of the fine napkins from the floor and thrust it at her. Byleth took it and held it to her side, flinching as she finally felt the ripping pain of the wound. "It's not like you to freeze like that."
"I...I don't know what happened."
"Let's get you to a healer." Shamir took hold of her wrist and led her away. Byleth followed, feeling sick to her stomach.

ooo more lore !! i don't usually use the wiki, i just look through items myself & i don't have those so i wasn't aware :0 wait watch me go on a wiki dive all night now adkhskdhfk. i do have a bit of a theory tho!
2.1 archon quest spoilers //
ok i'm probably gonna look like a clown when i'm proven wrong, but part of me kinda doubts signora's actually dead?? like, she seemed like a pretty major character, and it was so sudden. i know keeping her alive would undercut ei's power, but to be fair she hasn't had the gnosis for awhile, so the musou no hitotachi might not be as strong as it was when she slew orobashi, for example.
at the end, signora didn't use her vision(?) or delusion, opting to reach for ei's gnosis (that's what it looked like to me idk). which makes me think - if she wasn't using her pyro, why did she disintegrate to embers & ash instead of something more indicative of the lightning that killed her? i suppose it could just be a visual reference to how her body is made of liquid flame, but mayyyybe she did activate her pyro abilities at the last second to escape, and that's why her 'death' looked the way it did.
during the battle she seemed to be able to move pretty quickly in a pyro form of sorts, so what if she kinda.. dissolved into embers and disappeared of her own will? maybe she timed it right, or maybe she was hit by the musou no hitotachi - she is based on moths i think which have a sort of cycle of rebirth, and she did enter an ice chrysalis(?) mid-fight. so what if she's recuperating elsewhere in stasis like that, only to be 'reborn' later on in the game? many thoughts rn,,
idk, i'm sure i'm missing some points here, and i'm not rly convinced one way or another myself - i just think it would be cool if we saw more of her somehow hehe. as much as i love the whole 'mc befriends former bad guys they defeat' trope, it was refreshing to see a villain like her imo!
and yess, i've loved watching traveler grow more impatient & testy as the story progresses. altho the scene after signora's fight was.. a bit anticlimactic with my seelie dancing behind me lmao?? everything was dark & glitchy, traveler's silent, paimon's recounting the gruesome tale, and there's mr. bubblegum- "ubwbelbebrbeweb <3" doing flips in the background kdhfkhfsdkf - 🐺
GENSHIN SPOILERS
I mean, it's a possibility ! After all, genshin is supposed to go on for 7+ (10?) years, so any sorts of twists and turns are definitely probably down the line. There were also some leaks a few months ago that,,, kind of ? support this theory, if you squint.
But! Regarding what you said about her reaching for the gnosis, I'm afraid that's not quite possible, since it later gets revealed that it was with Yae, and then later traded to Scaramouche.
But yes!! I deffo do think it's plausible (maybe even possible, if more evidence surfaces over time and with more lore reveals) that she could have dodged a hit. It would be interesting to have that kind of twist to the story, but I do kind of agree that it,,, does put a damper on the Shogun's strong image ? Idk and I feel like some people might consider it a 'cheap' twist, espescially considering the heaviness that befell the traveller (maybe guilt ?? idk, that's how i personally interpret it) during that sort of slow, dark walk out of Tenshukaku. Not to mention how I think that seeing Signora die directly or indirectly because of the traveller's actions is something that I'm interested to see in the future, regarding on how this knowledge might change the travellers attitude towards others, if it'll push them to be more ruthless, or if it would make them a bit more hesitant to fight after they've seen a strong foe like Signora die because of losing the duel to them.
And in a way,,, i don't know, and this is kind of opinionated, but I feel like killing Signora then reviving her would,,, be somewhat unsatisfying ? Because,,, it kinda feels like Genshin is going down a slightly different path now. It's grown a bit heavier and darker with the occurrence of its first on-screen death (and major off-screen death w/ Teppei) and i feel like turning around in the future and saying 'oh! actually this character isn't dead' feels too much like a 'take-back' or like they're backing out of that darker theme, which feels a bit unsatisfactory given that he archon quest has begun to push that sort of narrative, and it's an interesting route to go, considering we've seen the heaviness that meeting their sibling that has (presumably) pushed the sibling into being more direct in wanting to complete their mission (in how, at first, they just wanted to see the shogun, and not get wrapped up in the whole resistance thing) and how angry they got when Teppei died. Personally, 'taking back' something as big as the first character who the traveller is indirectly/directly responsible for killing feels,,, very much like they're just pandering to younger audiences, and i feel like it would be a cheap twist or a disservice to the heaviness that befell the traveller after the fight itself.
but idk thats just my opinion lmao,, wanting her to revive is valid too!! And i deffo agree that is was sooo refreshing to see a villain that was,,, wel, a villain. One without any highlighted redeeming qualities. One that's just bad. It was nice hahha
ALSO PLS THE SEELIE ASKJDN I love the name you've given him HAHAHA <33 also !! hope u enjoyed the lore dive, if you've done it. I mostly stick to the wiki instead of the game, since like you can open links in the paragraph instead of having to rifle through all the stuff in the game HAHHA

"Nobody expected". Well, maybe you. I didn’t believe that the Archons even have the power to grant the Visions since the trailer for 2.1 dropped, because Dragon Age fandom and lore taught me that "whatever the NPC = people of the world believe may and usually is not the truth of the world itself". I didn’t need that confirmation from Raiden to be sure, because the trailer implied that much.
If I paid more attention to the lore I would know that the moment I got Zhongli’s line about Visions, but I didn’t, so I didn’t hear the line in which he basically says that he doesn’t even know what Visions are, so by extension if he doesn’t know how they work and what they are, he cannot grant them, unless we assumed he was giving out the shit he himself didn’t know shit about.
It kinda bugs me that most of Genshin fandom still refers to Visions as being given by some principles which the Archon sets. Like Anemo being given to people who “lost a friend”. I know most of it are jokes, but it grates on my nerves recently, especially after 2.1 trailer dropped and even more now, when we got the confirmation from Raiden that they don't give them. So I vehemently disagree with the conclusion from this video that Archon’s ideals somehow affect the Visions. It is more probable that Visions reflect the character of the person they are granted to than Archon’s wishy-washy ideals.
Since 2.1 I was thinking, and I dig up some stuff, and then I joined a discord server for theorists, and now I am less full of shit than when I was writing this. So, you can disregard most of what I said there.
For the record, this post was written 21-22.09.2021. If any new developments arise, the info here may change or get disproven.
Now, as far as I am concerned:
- Visions are objects given to certain people who fulfill certain requirements. We don’t know all of those requirements, but one of them is having an extremely powerful wish/ambition/passion for something.
- Vision reflects the passion/ambition and holds it even when the person dies.
- Vision can be reawakened if the person resonates with the ambition it holds. (This is how Ningguang got her Vision).
- Vision is called the Eye of God in Chinese, which is suspicious considering that Gods in Teyvat used to be something more than the Archons are now - meaning that there were a lot of Gods and there were Gods of Celestia as a separate set of Gods, and now we have 7 Archons, who have Celestia’s stamp of approval. There is A LOT of eye references being thrown around in Teyvat, so the whole eye thing going on with the names probably has some meaning.
- Delusions are made from the energy of dead gods (like Orobaxi) and possibly other powerful beings (dragon Durin).
- Delusions are human-made and are obtainable in an easier way due to the fact that they do not require as high level of ambition as Visions do and possibly don’t require the person to fulfill other, unnamed requirements.
- Delusions probably used to be rarer than they are in 2.1, because if they were that easy to manufacture, all Fatui would use them and not only a few. 2.1 makes Delusion into literal mass-produced product and gives it to the Resistance, which means Fatui could manufacture that many and give them away, possibly losing them forever if they were confiscated.
- Both Visions and Delusions have a price, but we didn't see Vision’s price yet. We know that Delusion Diluc’s father used killed him, and we know that Delusions given to the Resistance accelerated their aging. Possibly the effect which Delusion will have on the human using it is related to the type of the dead god/creature they used to make them, but it’s not confirmed that the evil energy left behind by the dead gods differs depending on the god. As of now, it was mostly the same thing, oozing like a miasma from the earth (?) with just different area effects (I still hate Mikage Furnace with passion).
Now, I know that in one of my previous posts I said Delusions may be named like that due to people channeling something they were deluded by, but now I am more of a thought that Delusions are named like that simply, because in Vision’s case your ambition is somewhat considered achievable when you get your Vision or even due to the fact that you got that Vision, while Delusion is like a dream you have and want to achieve, but everybody knows is impossible to be achieved. People who want to achieve something but don't have the means to, and have only their own conviction it will happen, are often referred to as deluded. Visions on the other hand are literally a proof that your ambition will be achieved either by your own doing or thanks to the fact that you got that Vision in the first place.
Anyway, I am iffy on the whole “Celestia gives the visions”, but I think Celestia and their Gods (not the 7 Archons) may have something to do with establishing the requirements I talked about above.
They don’t have to directly use them to spy on people as some theorists think, and may only be a general push behind them being established as a part of the fabric of the world of Teyvat.

Earth Angel (GabrielXOFC) Part 2.1
Part 2 is finally here!! I had to split it into 2 parts because of Tumblr's limit but the link to the 2nd part can be found below.
I'm so glad everyone is enjoying this story! I loved all of the comments and asks I got on the last chapter ❤. Sorry this one took so long to get out, my mom and I are trying to kinda start a small business so that has been my focus lol. But as I say in all the chapters...
This doesn't fully follow the Supernatural timeline, somethings have been changed (like Gabriel's death in the au world cause it was stupid and I refuse to accept it lol) so just a heads up. This is also inspired by @askpsychocas 's Angel Courting Ritual post (which I use in my story. Askpsychocas if you want me to take those parts out let me know and I will). This story also has a Scott Pilgram vibe lol.
If you would like to be added to the story taglist let me know

(From @askpsychocas 's Angel Courting Ritual)
Step Two: Make your intention known.
Sometimes your intended will not recognize your intent straight off. There are a number of ways angels would seek to subtly inform their intended.
Making eye contact is essential.
Make sure your intended recognizes your impressive plumage and strength.
Personal space must be intruded on as often as possible.
If all else fails an angel might simply tell their intended.
Traditional courting outlines this, and if the intention is accepted you may proceed to the next step. An angel may also receive a courting trinket as a sign of intent and goodwill if they accept the courting. Angels can only court one other at a time. Neither the wooer or the wooed are allowed to accept advances, or give advances to another.
Modern courting is more direct, in which an angel would simply ask to go out on a date, perhaps with a smile. Smiling and good humor are not necessary for any courting, but most are apt to use it when trying to woo a human, as they get confused without such things. Exclusivity is not necessary.

Earth angel, Earth angel, the one I adore
Love you forever, and ever more.
I'm just a fool, a fool in love with you.
I hadn't planned on living with the boys, stay a few days sure, then back on the road...But here I am, a week in, still at the bunker and helping them look for a new case. It was actually really easy living with them, growing up with older brothers probably helped, that and the fact Sam and Dean were just easy to get along with. I had met their friend, and Gabriel's brother,Castiel a few days into my stay, a very quiet guy who would randomly appear out of nowhere, which I noticed Gabriel did often as well. The thing was-Castiel didn't have wings,or at least if he did, he didn't show them off like Gabriel. I also noticed that most of the time when Cas would show up, Gabriel would be gone, and if he did show up Cas would excuse himself quickly. Speaking of Gabriel, he had been acting...odd? Or maybe it was normal for him? I noticed that Cas often stood extremely close to Dean a lot, so maybe invasion of personal space was just a family thing? Either way I noticed Gabriel seemed to always find a way to be very close. Reading some lure in the library? Gabriel plops himself in the seat next to me. Looking up some cases on my laptop while on the couch? Gabriel appears out of nowhere right next to me, causing me to almost throw my computer.
One time I was even baking a pie as sort of a thank you to the boys and when I turned around Gabriel was right there, causing me to jump and almost fall backwards, and of course him making a joke about me "falling for him" when he caught me. Another thing was the fact that Gabriel was always the first one to help if I needed to get something out of storage for the boys that I didn't realize would be as heavy as it was, or anything needing a lot of strength really. I would have joked about not being a damsel in distress, but it seemed he already knew that as he would only help when he knew I would really need it. He also seemed to be almost flaunting his wings more, or at least happily stretching them often, I had noticed that they seemed much fuller than they did back on the hunt, they were still the same beautiful golden color, but they seemed...Healthier? They were impressive really, but I tried not to get caught looking at them, I still didn't know what the custom was since no one talked about them. Another thing Gabe did was a lot was eye contact, which for someone like me who usually never held  eye contact for long, it was different-or maybe it was cause Gabriel had such pretty eyes that one just had to look away from them or you would be lost forever. Either way when I spoke I always seemed to have his full attention, which, after growing up around guys that would just brush you off cause you were both a girl and the youngest, was nice. It took a couple more days before we got a new case, a bunch of women being killed by their boyfriends, fiance, husbands, all of who claimed they didn't remember doing the killings. The case came in from the boy's friend Jody in Sioux Falls,so right away we were loading up our cars and heading out. Jody had emailed the police reports to Sam who in turn emailed them to me, which Gabriel read while I followed the boys.
"So, first up we have the lovely Mr and Mrs Tucker. Married for thirty years, two kids, and a dog...Is that just the thing to do? Kids leave the nest, the house is empty,it's finally you and your wife again after eighteen plus years and you think, what do we do now? I know! Let's get a dog!" Gabriel laughed.
"One, dogs are awesome" I started with a smile
"Oh don't get me wrong, I love them, used to have a little Jack Russel myself, but it just seems to be what people do" Gabe added
"That is true...I wonder why that is...Dangit Gabe now you have me wondering why old people insist on pushing their love onto animals instead of focusing on this case" I laughed, which caused him to chuckle as well before he turned back to the computer.
"Always ready to be a distraction sugarplum"
"So what did the lovely Mr Tucker have to say for why he slaughtered his wife?" I asked.
"Well, it says here that he said, and I quote, I don't know what came over me, I loved my wife, she was my everything, sure we had our problems but doesn't every couple?"
"Not problems that are bad enough to kill over"
"Says he doesn't remember the act, just before and after the deed"
"And all of the men say this?" Gabriel quickly scanned the files before replying
"Yup, everyone is a blank"
"So we have how many couples?"
"Six, three happily married, one engaged, and two dating" I thought about it for a moment, couples that seemingly had no problems but the woman always ended up dead, at the males hand.
"I can see the gears turning in that pretty little head of yours" Gabriel spoke, breaking the silence of the car.
"Come on" he added, closing the laptop and giving me his full attention. I looked over for a moment and almost wished I hadn't, there he went with the eye contact again-had they always had an almost gold color to them? Like they could match his wings? As if sensing my fascination a grin spread on his face before he spoke again.
"Like a buddy cop movie, you can be the serious one who's all about the job"
"And which one are you?" I asked with a smile, finally able to break my gaze away.
"The loveable comic relief of course!" He smiled.
"Now come on Sugar, you're already thinking something"
"Well for one, these couples weren't as happy as they said they were"
"Duh"
"And it's the men who kill the women"
"Correct"
"As subconsciously I bet, a brutal way to get out of said problemed relationship.
"Ok, I think I am picking up what you're putting down"
"What is probably the number one thing that can put the final nail in the coffin on a man  ending a relationship?"
"A beautiful woman"
"Exactly my lovely partner, throw in a little supernatural flair to that and we may have men forgetting just what they were doing"
"Don't let anybody ever tell you that you're just a pretty face" he smiled.
"Oh Sweetheart I am so much more than just a pretty face" I replied with a wink, watching as his wings ruffle a bit at the action.
"I also have enough issues to fill Texas" I laughed, watching as he laughed as well, one which I hadn't seen before, this one looked far more..Relaxed.
"Don't we all Sugar, don't we all"
Tumblr media
A couple of gas stops later and we were parking outside of the Sioux Falls police station. I had changed into more of a "detective" style outfit consisting of a white button up top, black blazer, black pencil skirt and black heels at the last gas stop. Though keeping my focus on the road after that was hard since Gabriel had also changed, and boy did he pull off a suit. The black button down tucked into black slacks and partially hidden under a black blazer and tie, ZZTop's words never rang so true until that moment, every girl really was crazy about a sharp dressed man. I tried to keep my eyes on the road as much as possible, especially after getting caught twice by those golden honey eyes, but if the extra confidence in his walk on our way into the station said anything it was that he had noticed every glance.
"There you two a--" a woman's voice spoke behind us but stopped suddenly, I turned towards the sound, noticing a woman who appeared in her late thirties, or maybe early forties.
"Jody, this is Liz and Gabriel" Sam told her while making his way over to her, followed by Dean.
"Oh right, yeah sorry you mentioned them on the phone, it's been a crazy week" she sighed.
"You ok?" Dean asked, his hand resting on her shoulder, she smiled at him and patted his hand.
"Yeah, just...I knew these people, they were all happy...Normal"
"Nothing out of the ordinary?" Sam asked
"Unless you count Jamie not going to the bakery the night before she...she was forever bugging Cathy about how her wedding cake was coming along"
"That's why I called you guys, it doesn't look like it's up your alley, but something's not right here"
"And Claire?" Dean asked sternly
"I told her to stay out of this one but you know how she is"
"Alright well we're gonna need to talk to the husbands" Sam told her.
"Well we have three of them here, the other two were cases Donna sent over"
"So this thing started someplace else?" I asked, seemingly making the trio remember Gabe and I were still here.
"Over in Hibbing Minnesota" Jody replied before smiling.
"Sorry, I'm Sheriff Mills, Sam and Dean told me about you two" She added, shaking both of our hands.
"Pleasure to meet you Sheriff" Gabriel smiled, and I couldn't stop myself from looking over at him. He really could go from playful to professional if the situation called for it couldn't he?
"Right well, come on there are already two of the men in the interrogation rooms" she told us before leading the way. Dean and Sam took Martin Cowell, boyfriend to Stacy Young. While Gabriel and I took Jason Smith, fiance to Jamie Wilde. The man seemed regretful enough upon first glance, around mid thirties, black hair partially hiding brown eyes that were red from crying.
"Hello Mr.Smith I'm Agent Rose and this is my partner--" shit, I realized quickly, Gabriel and I hadn't talked about his fake FBI name.
"Agent Speight" he added, seeming realizing just as soon as I had.
"I think you may already know why we're here" I stated as we both sat on the other side of the table.
"Because of what I did to--I didn't mean to,"Jason stated, soon falling into tears.
"We just want to understand, we need you to tell us what happened," Gabriel explained, easily falling into his role. After a moment Jason started talking.
"We were out with our wedding planner, she was showing us a venue, this really fancy mansion, hell, it almost could have been a castle" he stopped to collect himself before continuing.
"Jamie always wanted to be a princess, so this place was perfect, even if it was expensive. We booked it and made our way home--We ate, went to bed...Jamie was still talking about the place" he laughed, seeming to remember how excited she had been.
"The next thing I know, I'm standing over her body..I don't…I don't know what happened" he trailed off into a whisper.
"Did you ever become irritated by Jamie wanting expensive things?" Gabriel asked calmly.
"I mean, she could get crazy but...I guess I kinda knew what I was getting into, Jamie came from a well off family...They always said she was too good for me...Guess they were right"
"Did you ever think about leaving Jamie?" I asked
"No never I-I mean…"
"Never looked at another woman? Never thought maybe life would be easier with someone else, maybe someone with a cheaper taste?"
The room went quiet for a moment before he sighed.
"There was once, Jamie had been getting crazy with all this wedding stuff..I just...I needed a break. So I said I was going to have a guy's night, and I went out of town, alone. I went to a bar, and met a girl there and...I'm not proud of what I did ok, but I would never have killed Jamie, if I didn't want to be with her I would have just left."
Before I could say anything a knock sounded at the door, Dean peeked his head in and motioned for us to come out.
"So do you think I'm guilty?" Jason asked when we stood up.
"Of killing your fiance, I can't share that. Of being stupidly unfaithful simply because times got hard, yeah, you're guilty of that" I stated before walking out, Gabriel following.
"You ok?" He asked as we made our way to Dean and Sam.
"Yeah just-long story" I sighed.
"So what were you able to find out?" Sam asked.
"Well he doesn't remember doing the deed as far as killing Jamie" Gabriel told him
"What do you mean as far as?"
"Well he did confess to getting it on with a random girl at the bar one night" Gabe added
"Really?" Jody asked, shocked.
"They seemed so happy"
"Martin confessed to cheating on Stacy as well" Dean added
"So we have two unfaithful men" Gabe stated
"I wonder if the others were able to keep it in their pants?" I wondered out loud.
"Right, why don't Dean and I go talk to Larry Tucker, Jody, if you could call Donna and ask them if there is any way to find out if their two cases were ever unfaithful or if anything odd happened before the killings?" Sam asked.
"Yeah I'll get right on it" Jody nodded before heading to her office to make the call.
"Jason had mentioned checking out a venue the day he killed Jamie, maybe we could check that out?" Gabriel asked with a shug.
"That's actually a good idea, maybe someone there saw something or someone suspicious" I nodded, before looking back at the boys who nodded as well. I stopped one of the officers who was walking past to get directions to a mansion in town that could pass as a castle like, lucky for us there was only one. Willington Manor, a spacious 20 bedroom 10 bath home that had a pool, hot tub, tennis court, large outdoor garden, and an extra 20 acres of green grass.
"Ever feel like you're in the wrong line of work?" I asked as we parked in front.
"If only you could have it all right?" Gabe asked as we stepped out.
"If only"
"Would you really want something like this?" He asked while we walked up the stairs.
"Eh, maybe not this, too many rooms to clean. But this much land would be nice,"
"You seem like a farm girl" he smiled before knocking on the door.
"Grew up with chickens and stuff but sadly never on an actual farm" I laughed before we heard the door opening, an elderly woman standing there.
"Hello, how can I help you?" She asked
"Hello ma'am, I'm Agent Rose, this is Agent Speight, FBI, we were wondering if we could ask you some questions about a couple that came here a few days ago, they were looking at your home for a wedding venue"
"Oh yes I remember them, such a lovely couple, terrible thing that happened, they seemed so happy" she told us as she stepped aside for us to enter.
"Yes is it, so nothing seemed...Off about Jason while he was here? Nothing that would have raised any flags?" Gabriel asked while glancing around before his attention rested back on the woman, who seemed to blush under his gaze.
'Welcome to the crowd' I thought.
"No he seemed perfectly lovely, seemed very compliant with everything his soon-to-be wife wanted, and between you and me, boy did she want a lot" she told us.
"Do you employ anyone ma'am?" I asked.
"Oh yes, I have a chief,a butler,  two maids, and two grounds keepers," she replied, her eyes never leaving Gabriel, even as he looked over at me.
"And who all was here when Jason and Jamie was?" Gabriel asked her.
"Everyone was" she told him.
"Is everyone here now?" I asked
"Yes of cour-actually no, one of the maids that worked then I had to let go"
"Let go? How come?" Gabriel asked.
"Well I caught the little hussie trying to steal some of my jewelry, they were my great grandmother's, priceless heirlooms" she explained.
"You wouldn't happen to have employment papers would you? Or a name and description?" I asked
"I don't have papers, but I can tell you her name was Delilah"
'Probably a fake name' I thought
"and she was about five foot seven, long red hair that she kept up in a bun, pale skin. She was quiet, kept to herself but I noticed her often trying to make advances towards both of the grounds keepers...didn't work for her of course"
"How come?" Gabriel asked
"Their both gay" she chuckled.
"That will do it" I smiled
"Well thank you for your time ma'am" Gabriel smiled.
"If you think of anything else please contact the sheriff, she knows how to reach us" he added, charmingly, making the old woman grin like a teen.
"Most certainly Agent" she replied watching as he headed towards the door. She stopped me when I went to move.
"Are you two...You know?" She asked, stunning me for a moment.
"Ah, no we are strictly-"
"Well then, don't be afraid to send him my way dear" she replied with a wink, I let out an awkward laugh and nodded before heading over to the door. Once outside I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head while we headed to the car.
"Care to share with the class sweetheart?" Gabe asked once we got in.
"You are never to be left alone around old ladies" I chuckled.
"Oh? Did I not play the part well?"
"She asked me if we were together, and when I said no she told me not to be afraid to send you her way"
"Sharing is caring" he laughed
"No thank you" I replied with a small laugh.
"No threesomes?" He chuckled.
"Na I'm good, I don't like other people touching what's mine" I replied, glancing at him when I heard him inhale sharply. His wings seemingly wanted to stretch out but he held them down.
"Never pegged you as the possessive type" even his laugh sounded forced right now.
"Not possessive, like I wouldn't tell a guy what he could or couldn't do, I just draw the line at sharing him with someone else" I explained as we pulled up at the motel Dean had texted that he got two rooms at.
"Can you honestly say you would be completely fine with sharing a girl with another guy?" I asked as I shut the car off.
"Well I mean-" he started, wiggling his eyebrows, which only caused me to roll my eyes.
"If you really loved her, like head over heels"
"If she wanted to-"
"Never mind what she wanted, would you be comfortable watching another man put his hands on the woman you love?"
"No" he answered quickly, the gold color coming back to his eyes for a moment, before it was gone.
"See, we all have that in us, that feeling of wanting someone that is yours, just yours-"
"A mate" he answered quietly, almost as if he didn't mean to say it
"Yeah, a mate...I bet all these women thought they had found theirs...They never would have thought they would get cheated on and later killed by the ones who supposedly loved them so much"
"If they loved them so much, would they have fully given in to whatever influenced them?"
"No, I guess they wouldn't have" I sighed.
"This is why it's always us women who end up with a broken heart" I added while getting out of the car, missing the odd look Gabriel gave me. I knocked on the boy's room door, announcing myself, and waited only a few seconds before Sam opened the door.
"So what were you two able to figure o-" I stopped when I noticed a young blonde girl sitting on the bed looking beyond done with the boys.
"Ah Liz, Gabriel, this is Claire" Sam explained.
"Ooooh this is Claire" Gabriel nodded, leaving me completely clueless aside from remembering that the boys mentioned her while talking to Jody.
"Claire was working the case even though Jody told her not to" Dean replied while giving Claire a stern look.
"Ok and what have you all figured out?" She asked, but all of us stayed quiet, unsure if we should share information with the young huntress.
"How about this, tell us what you know and we'll tell you what we know" I stated.
"Liz" Dean started.
"She's a rebellious teen who is gonna work this case whether anyone likes it or not, at least this way she won't be running in blind" I explained, Sam and Dean shared a look, both not wanting to get Claire involved but knew I was right.
"Well it seemed Larry wasn't too faithful either, said he needed something exciting in his life since his marriage had gotten stale" Sam started.
"Did you talk to Peter Jones? He was Becky Davis's boyfriend, dude was a total creep" Claire added.
"He didn't try to-"Dean started but Claire just rolled her eyes.
"It wasn't anything I couldn't handle, trust me"
"Ok so all of the men were unfaithful, that plays into my theory" I sighed, sitting next to Claire.
"Theory?"Sam asked.
"Sweetcheeks here pretty much hit the nail on the head before we even got to the police station. Theorizes these men weren't happy, subconsciously wanted a way out, and something influenced them to find a way out" Gabriel explained, biting into a chocolate bar he made appear, I had noticed he did that a lot. He handed both Claire and I one, at first she seemed hesitant but then took it with a nod.
"So you think some supernatural babe is convincing these guys to kill the women they're with?" Dean asked.
"Does it seem that far fetched?" I asked
"Not compared to some other things we've faced.
"And I think we may know what she looks like, if she's not some sort of shifter anyways." I stated before eating some of the chocolate.
"The Madame of the mansion our lovely engaged couple were looking into, had recently fired a maid that had been working the day Jason was visiting. Said she was about five foot seven, red hair, and pale-Oh and kept flirting with the male employees" Gabriel told them.
"Wait that sounds like the woman people said they saw Peter flirting with the night he killed Becky" Claire stated
"Yeah it matches with what Jody just sent me too" Sam added while looking at his laptop.
"The two from Donna, both had been unfaithful in the past, and both had witness accounts of them talking to an unknown red haired female the day and night before each of them murdered their wives."
"So a chick who can influence guys, siren?" Claire asked.
"That would fit," I nodded.
"Not with what Jody just sent, this was found in Larry's house, I bet there is one in each of the houses" Sam stated spinning his laptop around to show us all.
"Is that?" Claire stated.
"A hex bag" Gabriel finished.
"Man I hate witches" Dean sighed.
"Should we call Rowena? Ask her if it's someone she knows?" Sam asked but Dean just shook his head.
"At this point after what she's cause, I don't care if Rowena does know her, she has to be dealt with"
"So how do we lure her out?" I asked
"Well she goes after couples right? Where is there a lot of couples right now?"Dean asked
"The fair is in town right now"Claire started
"But more people show up at night"
"Looks like we're going to the fair"Dean nodded, looking over at Sam who looked terrified.
"Don't worry Sammy, I'm sure it's clown free" he chuckled, earning a bitch face from his brother. We each went our ways after that to prepare. Jody picked up Claire, stating she would meet us at the fair later. I went to the room the boys got me to take a quick shower and the boys seemed to have the same idea.
Once night fully fell we headed out to the fairgrounds, hoping we could find this witch fast and end the case before someone else got hurt. But once we got there Gabriel turned to me, a smirk on his lips before he proposed his question.
"Why don't we up the ante? Try to lure her out ourselves while we're here?"
"What did you have in mind?" I asked.
"Let's make this a date"

I hope everyone is enjoying the story so far! It only gets better from here. And as I said before you can find the link to the 2nd part of this chapter

~Master~
*Based off episode 2x14 of the 100 , Bodyguards of lies*
You pushed yourself up to your elbows, looking down at your leg where Abby had been giving you stitches. “How much longer?” You tapped your fingers against the table, checking over your shoulder towards the door. The number of people laying on the beds worried you as you sighed, laying back down for the doctor to finish.
“Y/N, just wait.” Kane came in your view over Abby’s shoulder. His eyes flickered between your open leg and your eyes as you saw the worry in them. You sighed, slowly reaching out to grab his hand. His eyes locked onto your face, his lips curling up into a smile but you didn’t see, instead you avoided looking at the man’s relief and focused on the way Abby repetitively stabbed you with a needle.
“I have a war to get to Kane. I don’t get to wait.” Letting Kane’s hands all back to his side you covered your eyes and moaned lightly. Abby watched you, keeping an eye on your leg but checking out your actions.
“How’s your head?” She asked as she finished the last of your stitches, and cleaning you up. You didn’t want to answer her question knowing the amount of trauma your head had been through the past couple days couldn’t be good for it but you knew Abby was just going to keep asking if you ignored her.
“It’s fine.” You lied as Abby paused, looking up at Kane through her eyelashes before continuing on.
“Y/N, there are other people to fight, you don’t have to-“
“I’m fine.” Kane let his mouth snap shut as you glared at him. He knew you were determined to see this through, no matter your physical or mental state.
Abby finished up your stitches, wrapping the area as she stood up. “Ok, you should be done.” You swing your feet over the side of the table, letting your feet dangle as Abby put her hand on your knee. “Take it easy, Y/N. You lost a lot of blood.” You disregarded her advice and jumped to your feet. The ground slipped out from under you as you found yourself going down, only to be caught by a pair of arms wrapped around your waist.
You looked up, Kane staring down at you with creased brows as you help push yourself up, legs wobbling only slightly as you steady yourself. “See? I’m fine.”
“Y/N.” You didn’t wait around for his words, pushing past him on staggering legs. Abby and Kane watched you leave, neither one of them making any move to stop you as Kane sighed, holding his head in his hands. “What do I do, Abby?” He took the spot you had occupied, turning to face the door as Abby rubbed his back.
“Just keep trying. She’s just a kid. They all are.” She thought back to Clarke’s escape before the missile, how the girl she raised could do something like that, endanger the lives of so many people. Kane just shook his head, meeting the woman’s eyes slowly.
“She’s not a kid anymore.” Abby bit her lip and gestures for Kane to lie down.
“Come on, I have to check your injuries.” She told him but Kane didn’t move.
“I’m fine.” Abby drew in a long breath, finding the similarities between you two amusing yet damaging.
“Lay down.” She told the man again with more force as Kane gave in, letting Abby check over his injuries.
Lexa was laying in her tent, trying to rest up as Clarke stood away from her, worrying nonstop about Bellamy and the plan. “This has to work, Lexa. People died for this.” Lexa tries to ease her concern, telling her this was how Lexa acted when she first gain control and once Bellamy takes the fog down they would be all set, but Clarke just shook her head. “What if he can’t? What if it was too dangerous and I sent him in there?”
“You care for him.”
Clarke nodded. “I care for all of them.”
Lexa was curious, she knew your position with Clarke from your side, maybe it was time to get Clarke’s. “Even Y/N?” She asked as she walked across the room, taking a sip of her drink.
Clarke’s eyes widened, dropping to the ground in shock. “Of course I do.” She tried to convince Lexa.
Lexa turned around, facing Clarke as she turned as well. “But you care for others more. Bellamy?”
“I couldn't have kept us alive all this time without him. We need him. And now I might be the one who gets him killed." Clarke thought back to Bellamy, how she let him go into the mountain without any protection but soon her thoughts moved to you, how she banished you back at the drop ship and then again after Mount Weather.
“That’s what it means to be a leader Clarke. Sometimes you must look in the eyes of your warriors and say ‘go die for me’.” Clarke couldn’t think that way, she didn’t want to think that way. She didn’t want anyone to have to die but she knew that these days she doesn’t get that luxury.
“If only it was that easy.” She told Lexa before focusing on the plan once more.
You walked Camp Jaha, trying to ease the pain on your leg as you wound up outside the radio. You stood outside the door, hearing the faint groan from Raven inside as you entered.
“Hard at work?” You joked as she turned to you, giving you an exhausted side smirk before focusing on the radio again.
“Bellamy missed check in.” Your smile dropped as you braced yourself on the table, the information practically paralyzing you as Raven held you up. “Y/N?! Are you okay?”
Your head felt like it was slapped with a building but you nodded, blowing off the feeling.
“Yeah. Yeah... I’m uh, fine. I’m fine.” You muttered, falling into the seat as Raven eyed you carefully, knowing you weren’t telling the truth but not questioning you on it. “How long ago was it? His check in.”
“10 minutes ago.” You didn’t know what to say but thankfully Raven didn’t give you the chance as she picked up the radio. “Bellamy.” There was only static on the channel as your stomach did flops, just waiting to here his voice. “Bellamy. Come in.”
Bellamy’s response was almost instant this time. “Yeah, I’m a little busy here Raven.” He said and for the first time since Tondc your mind was practically clear, the only focus was Bellamy’s voice. Raven looked to you who was just staring at the radio, your mouth hung open in shock as she continued to talk to Bellamy.
“You missed check in.” You didn’t really hear the rest of the conversation, Bellamy’s voice still being the only thing you could make out before it was gone and the sound of static replaced it. You were on your feet before Raven could say anything, calling out to you as you exited the room. “Where are you going?”
“To fight.” You said, leaving Raven with more questions than answers.
You headed to outside medical, where Kane put your pack, trying to leave without being caught but luck wasn’t on your side as you turned around, running into Kane.
“You’re leaving?” He asked, eying the bow in your hand and the bag strung over your shoulder as you looked to the ground.
“I told Lexa I would fight. I’m keeping my word.” He nodded, stepping out of your way which only led you to confusion. “You’re not going to tell me to stay?”
“Would you listen?” You shook your head, honestly knowing you would fight in this war no matter what he said, but it comforted you slightly to know he wasn’t going to stop you. “Be safe Y/N.”
“I know.” You gave him a slight smile before walking past him and towards the gates of Camp Jaha, pausing before walking out of them in the direction of Mount Weather.
You were barely walking for a few hours before your leg started throbbing, the stitches on it feeling heavily discomfortable as you took step after step and soon the pain was too much to bear. You took a seat on the ground, the forest around you springing to life as you finally take the time to appreciate it. Trees filled your visions, going on for miles as the sun started to set over the horizon. You knew you weren’t far from their camp, so as much as you hated it, you decided to stop for the night.
A smooth oak tree provided the perfect pillow as you tried to get any sleep to prepare you for the war against Mount Weather.
The sky turned dark as your eyes pulled themselves open, the eerily quiet woods sending a chill up your spine as you stood up, a whispering barely filling your ears and you slowly bent down to grab your bow and arrows.
“Hello?! Anyone there?!” You shouted, hoping no one would respond but preparing just in case. But nothing really prepared you for who walked out behind the farthest tree, your mind making a double take.
“Mom?”
“Hi Baby.” The mom said as you froze, watching her take steps closure and closure to you before grabbing your hands, dragging them out with her.
“Bu-but you-u’re dead.” Your words were mere whispers as you closed your eyes, trying hard to come to terms with what’s happening.
“I know.” Her hand came up to cup your cheek but you couldn’t feel anything, only air before she pulled it away.
“Am I dead?” You weren’t sure if you wanted to know the answer to this. Was this death? We’re you dead and your mom was helping you?
She let out a little giggle, grabbing your hand again before you realized you couldn’t. Feel that way either. “Not yet.” You wanted to ask her what that meant.
Not yet?
But instead you found your eyes getting watery as you looked at your mom, the last time you saw her being eight years ago and she looked exactly the same, if not even more beautiful. “Why are you here?” You choked you, finding it harder to talk every second as her smile reached her Y/E/C eyes.
“I’m here because you made me be here”
“W-what?
“I’m here for you Y/N. You need to wake up.” You were taken back, trying to figure out with she meant before it got worse. “WAKE UP!”
Your eyes snapped open, the darkness of the forest making your chill return but looking no one was watching you. It was silent, the only noise was the wind brushing against your ears as you relaxed. It was almost perfect.
You hadn’t slept after that dream, not expecting to get much more sleeping as the day came across the sky, telling you to get a move on it.
You couldn’t help but get that dream of your head, I mean you saw your mom, dreaming or not, and you haven’t dreamt about her since they were flooded, to afraid to bring emotions into your world.
You tried to ignore it again as you pulled into camp just as they were celebrating Bellamy disabling the fog. You were exhausted, your leg still paining you but you smiled, thanking the fact that this war was your in your favor and Bellamy had done it. Lexa saw you the moment you passed the guards, a small smile in your direction before looking down at your leg. You played it off like it was fine but she saw the limp you had as her smile faltered a little.
“You made it.” She said as you approached her, gaining the attention of a few of the grounders around.
“I said I would.” Clarke appeared behind Lexa, your stomach dropping a little as you thought about Tondc but you knew it wasn’t her fault, she was a leader. You nodded your head in her direction, earning a shocked one back as you watched the rest of the grounders.
“I assume Bellamy’s alive then.” Lexa asked as you nodded, never looking away from the few chanting people. “I’m glad you’re here.” She put her hand in your back before lowering it, a slip of non leader Lexa sneaking her way in as you nudged her shoulder.
“Lets go win this war.” You said in their grounder tongue, making Lexa proud as she stuck her sword in the air. There were so many people, families, wives, husbands, children and they die...
Your thoughts died as you caught a certain head of Y/H/C hair from the back and you pushed your way into the crowd for the second time of the day. The woman turned around, once more making her way into your mind as you stopped. “Mom.”
Was she really here? No she couldn’t be.
“Mom.“ You whispered as you took a step forward.
And just like that she was gone and you couldn’t focus on that, you had to focus on the war.
The war you needed to win.
What did you think?

...& Steel for Humans (Geralt x fem!Witchress, Part 2.)
Series description: The Butcher of Blaviken has a long and famous past, thanks to his friend Jaskier. Yet, neither of those dies easily and it still lurks behind Geralt like a shadow after all those years. History, neither unfriendly relationships, doesn't die easily.
Part summary: After a talk with your old friend, there is one thing - a contract which is supposed to keep you rich for at least other ten years. But there are things you are not going to like about is.
A/N: Honestly, Dijsktra is one of my favourite in-game characters and I sincerely hope that he will make an appearence in the Netflix series. That mf is so fun honestly.

To your good luck, Dijkstra was very clear with the place of his staying - that fat rat was hiding at the Novigradian Bathhouse. You never held anything against Dijkstra - he was being a dick? You told him. That man knew famous non-humans like Geralt and even legends upon men, like Vernon Roche or the Redenian King Radovid. And he didn't hesitate to shove those connections into other people's faces. And you were one of them at that point.
So naturally, it didn't mean anything good when Dijkstra not only contacted you but knew where you were staying at the time. Novigrad was just three days of a slow ride on your horse and you didn't have anywhere to rush. Dijkstra only informed you, very kindly you must've said, that he would like to speak to you once you reach the city walls. It was for an important matter of saving lives or what.
Yeah, you weren't over your heels because of his demand. But you stopped in front of the famous bathhouse two days after the whole werewolf situation with a cape in your face. It wouldn't be exactly clever to walk around one of the biggest cities of the Northern Kingdoms just showing your face to everyone around you. Novigrad was looking just as you remembered it - it was dirty, it stank, beggars were on every corner and elf prostitutes only. That was the thing you didn't like on Novigrad. You had to be either a demon of a shapeshifter to cover that you're a non-human or you had to be a prostitute to be a non-human living in this city.
The cult of Eternal Flame was going nuts there. One of the priests even noticed that cats were hissing at you and that dogs ran away when your warhorse was driving through the streets and tried to verbally insult you and on top of that, he was calling you a heretic and a sinner. Instead of pinning him to a wall with your sword as a warning, you scoffed at his words and continued to Passiflora where you turned left. Not too long after that, you were standing in front of the bathhouse.
A bald man took your house, saying his name is Happen, and lead it to the nearby stable so the people there would take care of the poor animal. It needed some proper rest and some clear water, you couldn't deny that you weren't able to give your horse this kind of comfort on your travels.
To be honest, from the first moment you stepped in, you knew that the bathhouse stank. You hated those lingering, sweet smells that usually settled on the tip of your nose. Bathhouses usually used these scents because the humans found it more relaxing. Yet it was like a catalyzer for your damn nose - that was maybe for the first time in the last years when you sneezed. And it was damn uncomfortable.
Finding Sigismund wasn't exactly challenging - that man couldn't be ignored with the bright colors he tended to wear and with the size of his body. One of his legs also wasn't exactly in the best shape, so the limbing was quite easy to recognize when he was on the moe. At least to witchress's ears, it was unique.
Once you entered his office, you could see him sitting behind a table, going through some papers. You were quiet, so it took him a while to notice a caped person standing in the corner of the room. His face lit up with a smile that wasn't soothing nor comforting; he looked like a dick if you had to be honest.
"It is always a pleasure to see old friends. Have a seat with me, come on." - He said when you took the hood off and your face and white hair could be finally seen. You snorted when you sat down, taking a few grapes without even asking Dijkstra a word. He was quickly pouring you some of the sweet wine he had on the table but both of you knew that your lips won't even touch the drink.
"We aren't friends, Dijkstra. And also, it is never a good sign when you can find me without too much of trying." - A short answer to his greeting could be heard while your eyes scanned the books in his bookcases. Law things, political archives, some of the Novigrad's biggest family chronicles, nothing too extraordinary or interesting. Yet the Gwent packs caught your eye, so you took the Northern Kingdoms deck and started to go through it, looking at the cards with interest.
"Well, it didn't take too much of an effort to figure out that a witcher is in the Mire West currently. People talk and news spread quickly, don't forget about that. Especially quickly when you know who to ask for details." - The man slowly leaned into the chair behind his back while you turned your attention back to him, eating the grapes slowly.
"You torture people, you don't ask for details, Sigismund, don't you try to make me laugh because I am not in the mood for jests. You're just as much of a bitch as I am." - You smiled ironically, being tired of his little welcoming games. - "What is it that you need? Don't tell me that I came all the fucking way to Novigrad from Mire West just to see your fucking handsome face. And lemme tell you, you are fucking ugly."
At that, Sigismund laughed and shook his head. You two couldn't be exactly considered friends since everybody knew that you don't like Sigismund one bit. That wasn't too hard to understand - Sigismund was a spy who couldn't be trusted. But you two couldn't be even called enemies, since most of the time, you both stood at one side of a case - if you ever decided to take a stand in anything political.
"I have a friend in need and I told her that I will try to ask you for a helping hand." - He looked you in the eyes. Sigismund had a job... For a witchress? With that, you rose your eyebrows and furrowed. - "She offers you a ridiculous amount of coin - for searching and killing the source. And also invites you for a damn dance and pays for your stay Novigrad, no matter which inn you'd name." - He told very seriously so you could understand that Dijkstra isn't in a mood for games either.
"Damn. That must be a real matter of life and death if they're putting so much coin into it. What is going on?" - You asked and stole another grape from the small silver plate, putting the deck back on its place. You liked the grapes, they were sweet. Dijkstra surely had to offer them in Passiflora, the whorehouse just a while from Saint Gregory's bridge.
"No-one knows. We only know that whatever the fuck it is, it breaks trees and rocks like small wooden sticks and that it cooks humans for dinner. We dunno much more than what I've told ya." - Dijkstra told you and your face got even sourer than before. This wasn't just some ordinary Vampire, nor a Fiend. - "It lives in the mountains east from Novigrad and the Vegelbuds are rather concerned with it. No matter what in the horse's ass it is, it already massacred two villages."
Again, you pushed yourself more into the plushy chair Dijkstra had offered you. This wasn't a matter you could laugh at. Whether you liked it or not, it was more than fucking serious. Women and children were killed, men could be eaten or stomped to death.
"Bullshit. There ain't no monster who can destroy a whole damn village just because it wants to in Redenia. There ain't one like that on the whole Continent. Before you jump in with Fiends, they are too lazy for any that." - You started slowly and put a strand of your hair behind your ears.
"Dijkstra, honestly, I ain't a dumb bitch. You're the mediator between me and the Veganbrods or what the fuck is their name and I know that you'll have a lot of money from this. But no witcher, squirrel, or human will take this fucking job. This ain't a job. This is suicide." - You said, looking him in the eyes.
"Oh, Y/N, I just love how honest you can be with me. This ain't a one-man job, of course. We already have some... Takers who are gladly willing to accompany you." - Dijkstra said in a solid-sure tone.
"If it's Letho of the Viper school, tell him to fuck off right away. I hope it's not a sorceress either, I can't stand these bitches either. Lambert would be a nice company, tho and I wouldn't mind me an Eskel either." - You said honestly with a small smile. Yeah. You knew how did your witcher brothers work on their contracts, you knew you would get along with them and if there would be anything that would go bad, they would have your back.
You liked Lambert the most of all the witchers you knew - it didn't matter if they were from your school or the Griffin school or the Vipers, you just liked Lambert the most. There were rumors that you and he had some kind of a relationship - whether it had ended up or was going on. And any of that wasn't confirmed either denied by any of you. When people asked you, you both just smiled and changed the subject.
"It's not Lambert, unfortunately, but it is someone you know, which is some good fucking news. And it is someone you don't like, I have to say - one of them sings all the fucking time and the other one is a grumpy moron who had fucked up my leg. But don't think about that. Business is business, darling, it's not about liking someone. It's about money and surviving the fucking trip to the mountains." - Dijkstra looked you right in the eyes. You sat there in silence, watching the man with a dead serious face.
Of course. Of fucking course. Your partner for the trip, who you had to believe with all your will power, the partner who was supposed to be someone you should be able to trust with whole life, that man was supposed to be the white-haired moron. And his possibly gay friend. You looked at Dijkstra, having that daring look on your face.
"I can still say no, you ugly bastard." - You said honestly. At that, the idiot sitting opposite of you started laughing.
"No-one denies your right to deny - only your financial state and the reputation you have around Novigrad and other big cities now. Tell me, Y/N, you and the other witchers have some kind of a competition which should determine who is the worst person of you all?" - Dijkstra asked, having you speechless for a moment. - "Because according to my people, you have the leading position now. The incident with Stjepan got pretty known here over the last few days. And I know you like to keep your honor clean."
"I had never hurt a woman or a child. And that's it." - Was the sentence you said coldly as ice.
"People heard otherwise. Almost dragging the children out of the bed, abducting them so you can bring them to your witcher school as payment and all of that came with your promise of the next generation of witchresses... Oh Y/N, you know that one small rumor can completely ruin your business, huh?" - He leaned in, closer to you, watching your reactions. You hated Sigismund but there was one thing that needed to be said - he was a damn good businessman.
Why did that hiding rat want you to take the contract? You had no idea. But even though you didn't want it for some reason, he knew how to make you take it.
So it was said and done - you were supposed to travel to the mountain alongside Geralt of Rivia and his small musician puppy Julian. But not before a grand ball held at the Vegelbud family residence three hours away from Novigrad. Which, on the other side, you were excited about.
