day two done (ish) of straight 9 hrs of sculpting \o/ its a bit jarring going from grunt work with sporadic creative moments to nonstop creative shit. my brain hasn't done this in a while LOL. (it feels really REALLY good though). i will probably continue after dinner today too because im ahead of my portfolio schedule and if i can get this one thing done today, i can have all day tomorrow to maybe add some extra pieces in :)

My last Demo Reel I made was in 2016 and that was when I was just getting the hang of 3D animation and developing a personal style for myself. Since then I have made so much stuff, and it's really something to look back at, which seems silly to say as I type this but I didn't quite realize how little I've taken time to reflect on past work.
I do feel proud of my works, looking at it all now, and it's wild to think how long I've been doing this(12-ish years) and how much I do want to keep on animating.
Anyway - here's my latest demo reel, it's a pretty big mishmash if I'm honest, but certainly some cool stuff in there!
The goal of the assignment was to model and render something of our own design. I chose a simple clock, with the ultimate goal of 3D printing it and having it function. I used gear profile designs from http://geargenerator.com/, and a Geneve drive profile design from http://benbrandt22.github.io/genevaGen/, but calculated and designed the herringbone connections myself. Prototypes of the gearbox printed on an Object Scholar were nearly functional, but I didn’t quite achieve complete function by the time the project was due.
If I complete and assemble the clock, I will add pictures and video of its function to this entry.
