No offense to the amazing actress that is Gina Gershon, but I will forever be pissed that Shannen Doherty didn't play Jughead's mom. She would've been fucking perfect.
Also, they could've had Fred & Gladys be a thing, which would've healed so many B/D's fans hearts. OMG. Can you imagine?
Maybe Gladys is still a drug dealer, but she's doing it because she refuses to be poor & weak anymore. And Fred calls her out, tells her that there's other ways, & she's like, really? In this town? You're better than this, Gladys, he tells her. The Gladys I knew, he continues...
She doesn't exist anymore, Gladys interrupts. And don't act like you care about me, or my family.
That's not true, he argues.
Please, Fred, don't try your good ole boy act, I've seen through it.
Gladys, he says, hurt.
What, she challenges him. Did you think I forgot? That when FP was off, drunk & high & doing God knows what, I turned to you for help? And I'll give you that, Freddy, you helped. Both you & Mary. But Mary was working hard to get her career started, & you were lonely, I guess. And I was just some unhappily married woman with 2 kids who I could barely feed. Trailer park trash, right?
I never thought of you like that. I thought the world of you. And Jug & Jelly, Fred argues.
Don't act like you give a crap about me or my kids, Andrews.
How can you say that? I did, I do!
Whatever helps you sleep at night. Maybe that helps ease your dirty conscience at sleeping with your friend's wife.
Mic. Drop.
Don't say it like that, Gladys, Fred says, quietly. My feelings for you...I was in love with you. God, I was so in love with you...
And she's sees his face, and heaven help her she's still in love with him & that's why it hurts so bad.
And it pierces her, that he still has that face & those eyes & that voice...that even after hundreds of miles that she placed between them, after trying to play the villain, after putting herself in a position where she always has the upper hand, Fred Andrews can still reduce her to this.
After all these years.
Damn you, Andrews, she whispers.
And they come together, like moths to each other's flame.
After, Fred is hesitant, he wants her, more than he's ever wanted anything...but he fears...
This was just...a stress reliever, Andrews. It doesn't mean anything. Exactly like before, she says, getting dressed.
And as she's walking away from him, like he did to her once, he says her name.
She pauses, back still to him.
And he's pissed - at her, at him, at this entire situation.
We were never just sex, he says, quietly, brimming with conviction. We are and always will be more.
And she walks away.
TELL ME THAT ISN'T COMPELLING TELEVISION!!!

Fic Writers Tag
got tagged by @daisyishedwig, thank you :))
and I'll tag @vrt77 and anyone else who wants to do it!
how many works do you have on ao3?
I only have 10 on ao3, I originally started writing on fanfiction.net in like 2011 or something, and no one will ever get that username out of me lol I would've deleted the account but I don't want to be the kind of fic writer that deletes things just because I'm not proud of them anymore.
I used to cross-post everything from ao3 on there because it's the roots of why I enjoy fanficiton, but I don't anymore, mostly because it's a lot of work and I get frustrated with not being able to tag things + having to write super short summaries.
2. what's your ao3 word count?
currently at 345,703 & will be at about 400k when I finish posting my wip
3. what fandoms do you write for?
Glee, and it's surprisingly always been Glee. That's taken different forms over the years, like there were several years where I wasn't posting anything and was just doing some silly little instagram rp with some great friends I made. But Glee is how I discovered fanfiction in the first place, and it's consistently been the one fandom I feel connected enough to write this much about.
I have dabbled in other things over time - wrote a Girl Meets World fic I never finished, got really into some teen shows like Pretty Little Liars, 90210, Gossip Girl, etc. when I was a teenager. But I've pretty consistently only posted glee fics.
4. top 5 fics by kudos
For Real This Time (280), Something More (180), How Bright We Burn (178), slipped away like a bottle of wine (120), and invisible string (102)
5. do you respond to comments? why or why not?
Yes, I try to respond to every comment unless it's super short/I have nothing to say. I usually try to avoid spoilers, and I generally like to treat comments more as my opportunity to make friends/chat with readers about the characters/the ship/the plot.
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Definitely 11:11, it's a canon compliant one shot about slushy-gate which basically just involves Sebastian and Blaine both independently being angsty about everything that went down and wondering what went wrong in their friendship, and by the time Sebastian comes around and apologizes, it's too late.
Some of my other one shots don't necessary have happy endings, but they do have optimistic endings, so I think 11:11 is the only one that counts as straight up angst.
7. what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think Something More - don't wanna spoil it, but I think that's the nature of writing a fic where the characters are a little older and you can just feel that the happy ending is permanent, rather than when they're teenagers and happy endings can be very short lived.
8. do you get hate on fics?
Not really, and I can be kinda sensitive lol so I'm glad I don't.
Most of the time if I do get hate, it's not criticizing me as a writer but rather criticizing the way the characters are behaving (which I guess is a reflection of me as a writer because sometimes it's because they don't like the way I've written characters), but I can move past that pretty easily because I realize everyone has different head canons, especially for characters like Sebastian who get like less than 10 episodes of canon screen time.
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
Not really? I mean, some of the things I've written toe the line between smut and fade to black (like How Bright We Burn, For Real This Time, & The Way I Loved You, mostly) but I like to think I do so in a way that is way more focused on feelings and emotions than what body part goes where. Even in How Bright We Burn where sex is like a very big part of their arc, most of the way you know what's going on is from Blaine's inner monologue or Sebastian's jokes, not so much from me just like describing the scene.
I mostly don't think I'm great at writing smut, and I've found I really like the style of writing about sex that like Casey McQuiston uses in "Red, White, & Royal Blue" where it's not smut but rather indirectly describing what's going down with a huge focus on the emotions at play. If you've read the book, I feel like you'd understand what I mean, but I don't know how else to describe it.
10. do you write crossovers? what's the craziest one you've ever written?
I do not, mostly because there's not really a fandom I'm as passionate about as Glee that I feel like could go well together. I do hope some day I find the inspiration to write a Flash/Glee crossover fic, but who knows. Back in like 2011 when I first started writing fanfiction, I would sometimes include like one or two characters from other fandoms, maybe as like a roommate when a character went to college or as some background character, but nowadays I prefer to write OCs for those purposes.
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not that I know of, but who knows honestly. I did have some writing I did on a fandom Instagram at one point + some edits stolen, and it was crazy because they blocked me so that I wouldn't find out but didn't bother to block any of my friends.
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
nope :) I feel like someone asked me once if they could, but I never heard anything back from them after I said yes.
13. have you ever cowritten a fic before?
No, but I did some Instagram RP back in the day that felt very much like co-writing. I had this Klaine RP that really helped me develop the way I write Blaine, and I think I had a Blam one too. But I enjoyed writing the friendships a lot more. I was Blaine and really close with someone who played Tina & someone who played Brittany, so those friendships became super important to me.
14. fave all time ship?
I mean,, my favorite to write is Seblaine and I'm obsessed with them. Their relationship is so special to me and I've never enjoyed writing about anyone as much as I do with them. I've been a Glee fan since I was in middle school when it was still on air, but I never really shipped them to this extent until I rewatched for the 800th time during the pandemic. Since then, they've been my OTP. They're both just very dynamic characters with infinite writing potential, and I love that neither of them is perfect, and there's so much from canon left unsaid that I get to explore. I'm also a sucker for friends to lovers and enemies to lovers, and Seblaine has elements of both.
But some other favorite ships include Wolfstar (Harry Potter), firstprince (Red, White, & Royal Blue), Gallavich (Shameless), Shara & Chloe (I Kissed Shara Wheeler), Evelyn & Celia (The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo), Nick & Jess (New Girl), Barney & Robin (How I Met Your Mother), & Jake & Amy (Brooklyn 99).
15. wip you want to finish but doubt you will?
I honestly don't have many of these, mostly because I tend to write entire projects at a time then move onto something else, at least with fanfiction. But I do have this little spooky halloween one shot au I started like two years ago and haven't felt motivated to finish because I'm just not good at writing spooky things.
I also have this sort of longfic I worked on for a really long time as a way to deal with something going on in my life, but I doubt I will ever finish it or post any of it because it's lowkey traumatic (deals with like car accidents & the death of a child) and I doubt anyone would be interested in reading something like that. It's Seblaine but involves a lot of Glee characters I haven't written beyond brief scenes in like 10+ years, like Finn, Rachel, Quinn, etc.
16. what are your writing strengths?
I like to think I'm good at writing like anxiety and very detailed internal monologues. I sometimes feel like I include too much of it, but it's always come very naturally to me. I also think I've gotten a lot better in the last year or so at writing funny side characters and dialogue in a group setting.
And I think I've gotten a lot better at writing chemistry and building that chemistry over time instead of skipping to the good part right away - the evolution of that skill to me is very apparent in how I wrote For Real This Time vs. How Bright We Burn.
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
lol smut
I also think I tend to not trust myself enough and end up writing exactly what's going on instead of like implying it. I just want readers to understand so bad that I sometimes feel the need to explicitly say what a character is thinking or feeling, which isn't always what you want, especially when it's a character whose POV I'm not writing.
Also I think my sentence structure can be kinda not great. I write really long wordy run-on sentences too often when it should probably be reserved as a narrative device.
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in a fic?
I know a lot of French - I took it for five and a half years and keep up with it on Duolingo so I don't forget anything. I wouldn't call myself fluent, but I can generally understand it in reading and writing. That's the only language I'd be comfortable writing in other than English, which is SO convenient because you know who else is fluent in French? Sebastian ;)
19. first fandom you wrote for?
glee! nothing has changed lol
20. fave fic you've written?
How Bright We Burn! It is my nature that whatever I'm working on at that moment is my favorite thing. I'm really proud of the slow burn in that fic and the character development work I've done for Blaine and Sebastian but also for the side characters like Nick, Jeff, etc. and even my OCs like Ethan. But I'm even more excited about the sequel because it's something I've never really attempted to this extent before, and that's the thing that I'm actively working on since How Bright We Burn is done other than some minor editing.
also gonna shout out 11:11 because I think that is the best job I've ever done with writing angst, and it was both challenging and rewarding for me to write

Tag Game
Tagged by @appropriatelystupid
Three ships: This one is pretty easy…my number one is Supercorp and likely always will be. I got into fanfiction through WayHaught so they hold a special place in my heart. Tibette will always be my OG though.
First ship ever: Geez, I’m not even sure. I think maybe the first time I became aware was Brenda and Dylan on 90210? Or maybe Joey and Dawson on Dawson’s Creek. The first one that drew me into fandomland was WayHaught though. I was late to the game getting into fandoms, without a doubt.
Last song: Come Back…Be Here by Taylor Swift.
Last movie: Oh damn, I haven’t been to a theater since before COVID started. HA. Okay, I’m gonna pass on the theater, but the last movie I re-watched was Ammonite.
Currently reading: Moonlight Howls by S.D. Sampley. She is a family friend and it’s her first book! (Her second in this series is out too.)
Currently playing: I’ve been mostly reading and not playing any games, but the last video game I played was Destiny with my wife. :)
Currently watching: other than the 5 minutes of KMG in the continental. HA – keeping that same answer from @appropriatelystupid because…yeah, same. Outside of that, whatever documentary catches my eye because I am a big nerd and love to learn. The last one I watched was Mormon No More on Hulu.
Currently consuming: A dark chocolate peanut butter Kind bar.
Currently craving: Chips and Salsa
People I’d like to know better: Hmmm, let’s see…(also sticking with the previous response - if you wanna play consider this me tagging you too and obviously no pressure to anyone I tag) @lovesastateofmind1 @fabulousglitch @chaotic-super @sssammich @casualkoalatea @kitch3nw3nch @humanonstrike

5. What inspires your writing the most?
happy to answer!
1.) I’m from the US! (west coast)
2.) This is embarrassing, but I started writing fanfiction for like the powerpuffgirls when i was 10-12 😂 i would focus mainly on buttercup and butch 💀
3.) You’re gonna have to pull the trigger, i have too many! Charmed, Buffy, og BH 90210, What I Like About You, Desperate Housewives, a shit ton of cartoons, a shit ton of animes, a few reality tv shows, more recent tv shows (Glee, ST, Euphoria, OMB, True Detective, LD&R), etc., etc!
4.) I want to work in the film industry!
5.) Music! I can have an idea, see the entire work played out (and casted) in my head, but i need a good soundtrack or score to keep me in the fantasy bubble as i write! otherwise, i fizzle out and so does my interest in it! A lot of my ideas stem from songs, as well!

10 Days til Homecoming…
Rachel squirmed in her seat, her hands throbbed from being squeezed so hard, and it’s likely that her lip has small cut on it from being bit too tight. Today was the start of something better, she could feel it. She glanced over the bus seat, her eyes landing on the back of Mr. Malchior’s head. His dark, curly tresses were swept off to the side, not a gray hair in sight. Every once in a while, he’d turn around to watch the other students for safety then turn back to the front. However, his eyes would never sweep over in her direction. Not once. Earlier as the students walked on the bus, he’d greet them with a short hello and that perfect smile of his. Though with Rachel, he didn’t dare make eye contact with her. He gave her a close-mouthed grin and a nod. Her heart cracked a bit at that. Rachel pushed a strand of her behind her ear, then cracked open the book on her lap. Her eyes would brim over the words, but she couldn’t understand what the story was telling; for her mind was pre-occupied with something else. Or rather someone else. The bus came to a hard stop, she jerked forward. “Mm-hmm” someone was clearing their throat, Rachel snapped her head up to see Mr. Malchior facing the other students. Rachel didn’t any go the kids she was with and quite frankly, they didn’t exactly fit the “coffee drinking, poetic, deep, tortured soul” type. They looked more like wanna be’s if Rachel could pick the perfect description for them. They wore clothes you’d see on Hollister models and had hair that was shiny, voluptuous, almost stiff. The girls next to her had on minimal amount of makeup that accentuated their high cheekbones and doe-like eyes. While the guys had clean-cut hair and sneakers so nice, they’d put her penny loafers to shame. “These were the gifted kids Mr. Malchior recommended?” She thought as she continued to observe them. From afar, they looked like they were a part of a different stratosphere and she was stuck at the bottom, where hell was. “Rachel?” Her ears perked at the mention of her name in that sexy English accent. “Hmm?” “Were you listening per chance?” Her cheeks turned a bright shade of red. Mr. Malchoir had his eyebrow perched in curiosity, the other kids stared.....

Afternoons at the Peach Pit//Brandon Walsh Fluff
Tumblr media
A/N: Requested by @winchester90210
Prompt: The reader goes to the Peach Pit every day to see Brandon Walsh and Steve can’t take it anymore.
You don't know how you got in the habit of going to the Peach Pitt every day. You went in one day with your friends for dinner and the next thing you know you're there every single day almost. You weren't even eating every time, most of the time you just get a milkshake or a coffee and try and sit at the counter with your homework in front of you so you don't feel so guilty about taking up an entire booth by yourself.
"So what are we studying for tonight?" A playful voice ask, leaning up against the counter beside you.
You looked up into the face of the person that brings you back here every day just to talk to. Brandon smiles at you and you swallow the nervous lump in your throat to smile back. He shouldn't look that good in that teal uniform shirt but you had a hunch he'd probably look great in anything. You realize he's staring at you, still waiting for your answer.
"History tonight. There's a test coming up in Henderson's class next week and I'm completely unprepared."
Brandon laughed, "Oh come on with the way you're in here studying every day you should ace that test. I think Nat is even thinking about charging you rent."
You laugh along with him even though you can feel a blush creeping up your face and suddenly the pen in your hands is fascinating.
"Hey, Brandon!"
You both look up to see Steve Sanders and Dylan McKay setting themselves up in a both across the room.
Brandon waves. "I'll be right back."
You nod and watch him go, tucking a stray piece of hair behind your ear as you watch him. You didn't notice the way Steve was staring at you while you did so. You tried to turn your attention back to your notes and actually do the studying you told Brandon you came here to do. You use to be terrible at focusing on studying in public places, hiding out in the library instead, but over the last month or so you’d been camping out at the Peach Pit, you’d adapted. You were focused on your notebook when an arm snaked around your shoulders, suddenly made you jump back to reality. You looked up surprised to see Steve Sanders standing there with his arm around you and a chestier grin on his face that made your brow crease slightly.
“Oh, hey Steve...”
“Hey, Y/N, look I was hoping you could settle an argument for me and Brandon over there.”
He gestures behind his shoulder to where Brandon is standing with Dylan, staring at you and Steve mortified.
“Um, sure.” You agreed, feeling nervous at the sudden attention.
You had a class with Steve once and have gone to school with him for years but you had never had a conversation with him before.
“So, Brandon?” He wiggled his eyebrows and nodded like there was some secret going on between the two of you and this was all he needed to say.
You shook your head, “What about him?”
You glanced over his shoulder at where Brandon was saying something to Dylan and still staring in your direction, “You totally want him right?”
You almost choked at his words, looking up at him in shock. Your lips opened and closed like a fish out of water, blinking in surprise. Had you been that obvious?
Steve smiled smugly and nodded, “You totally do don’t you?! I told him you were coming here for more than the coffee!”
“Wh-,What?” You managed to stutter out.
Brandon chose that minute to rush over to the counter. “Hey, Steve come on man. Just let it go.”
He tried to joke it off but from the way he wouldn’t meet your eye you knew he had heard everything.
“I told you I was right Brandon!” Steve laughed, “Now would you just man up and ask-”
Your whole face went hot and you had to get out of there.  Without waiting to hear any more, you scooped up your books of the counter and tossed your bag over your shoulder, rushing out of the Peach Pit without looking back.
It was weeks before you could make yourself go back to the Peach Pit. You managed to avoid Brandon, Steve, and their whole group at school. It wasn’t that hard, you never really saw them before you started hanging around Brandon anyway. You were grateful for this. Even thinking about seeing Brandon or his friends made you feel a fresh wave of embarrassment. You fully planned on avoiding him forever and you were pretty sure that was a reasonable plan until he called you. You didn’t know how he got your number and you were too surprised to even ask.
“Y/N? It’s Brandon. Look just don’t hang up okay!”
“Um, hey Brandon?” You bit your lip and shook your head even though you knew he couldn’t see you, “Look about what happened with Steve-”
“Yeah, I’m sorry about him. Steve’s my friend and all but he’s also kind of an ass. He hasn’t quite learned what tact means yet.”
You couldn’t argue with that. “Yeah, I kind of got that.” You sighed.
Brandon laughed, “Listen, why don’t you come by the Pit tomorrow night? Nat keeps asking me what I did to run off his best customer.”
“I don’t know Brandon. I’ve got a lot of studying and stuff to do.”
“Come on Y/N, just one night.”
You could practically hear him pouting through the phone and sighed, twirling the cord of the phone around your finger.
“Okay, just one night. I’ll be there around seven okay?”
“Great! I’ll see you there!”
When you walk into the Peach Pit the next night you have your textbooks stuck under your arm and walk straight to your normal spot at the counter. Sitting down you look around for any signs of your favorite waiter but see none. Instead its Nat that comes over to pour you a cup of coffee and greet you brightly.
“Hey Y/N! We were really starting to miss you around here.”
“Hey Nat, have you seen Brandon around?”
Nat nods his head, a playful smile on his face. “Oh yeah, he’s waiting on his date.”
Nat points over your shoulder. You turn around and there he is. Out of uniform and sitting in a booth in the corner, Brandon smiles at you and waves you over. Looking back at Nat in confusion the older man just winks at you and takes your books and sets them behind the counter before walking off. Hesitantly you walk over to the back booth.
“Right on time!” He greets, gesturing for you to sit down. You do even though your still visibly confused. “You look great tonight by the way.”
“You’re not wearing your uniform.”
Brandon laughed, “No, I only wear that at work. But if I knew you liked it that much I might have made an exception.”
You blinked, “Nat said you had a date?”
Brandon nods, sitting up straight in his seat to look at you seriously. “Look I’m sorry again about Steve. He thought he was helping me out by trying to get you to admit to liking me.”
You swallowed down the memory of the embarrassment you felt that day to ask, “How was he helping you out?”
Brandon bit his lip, “Because I like you and he was trying to convince me to ask you out.”
“You-, you like me?”
He nodded shyly. “Yeah, I do. A lot actually.”
You both smiled but neither said anything, not wanting to be the one to break the ice.
“So I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me sometime? Like tonight maybe?”
You almost laughed, not believing this was really happening to you or that it was all because of Steve Sanders. “I’d like that.”
“Good!” He breathed, visibly relaxing into his seat. “And if you want maybe you could start coming around here again after school? I was really starting to miss that.”
“Yeah, I think I can do that.” You laughed.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1992)
Tumblr media
A high school cheerleader who accepts her birthright to be a vampire slayer after discovering that her peers are either dying or being turned into the undead. David Arquette who once wrestled in handicap match against Randy Orton on WWE Monday Night Raw features as a local loser who gets turned early in the movie.
An interesting tidbit for wrestling fans is that Arquette's best friend in the movie is played by Beverly Hills 90210 star Luke Perry whose son would grow up to be AEW and Jurassic Express star Jungle Boy. The former WCW champion battles the father at the end of the movie and also wrestled the son on a Bar Wrestling card in 2019.
Featured Wrestler:
David Arquette as Benny
Wrestle Rating:
3 out of 5 detention slips
Tumblr media
A charming lightweight horror comedy that is massively overshadowed by the TV series of the same name that followed a few years later. The Hollywood star turned indie wrestler’s character before being turned is over the top, obnoxious and unlikeable and is surprisingly far more toned down and likeable as a vampire.

"With my dad laid up, we need all the help we can get. We’re practicing today if either of you want to join in on the festivities," Brandon persuades the two of you as you round the corner of the Peach Pit to sit at your usual booth. The familiar scent of pie crust and burgers fills the air, instantly putting your soul at ease.
"Thanks… but no thanks, slim," Dylan rejects him, sliding into the seat opposite of you while Brandon follows suit.
"Dylan, I thought you were a total baseball freak!" You tell him.
"I am, but listening to these parents berate their kids from the sidelines all day long," he shakes his head, cringing, "Brings back a whole slew of bad memories."
"But it shouldn't be about the parents!" Brandon protests, "It should be about being on a team, learning fundamentals, having a good time!"
"That's very noble, Brandon. But when I was playing? It was about winning at any cost necessary.” Dylan argues. Brandon sighs in defeat, looking to you.
"What about you, Y/N/N?"
"Not a chance,” you laugh.
"What? Why not?"
"Brandon… me and 20 kids, in an extremely competitive state? Did you learn nothing from the summer of '85?" You jest. Brandon chuckles at your extreme rejection, sliding a laminated menu your way.
"Wait… what happened in '85?" Dylan's eyes flicker cluelessly between the two of you, awaiting an explanation.
"Look, it was no big deal. Things got a little heated during one of Eric's little league games," you shrug dismissively, flipping through the Peach Pit's menu as if you didn't get the same thing every time.
"She beat up a nine-year-old,” Brandon quips.
“I didn’t beat up a—“ you pause, taking in a breath. “To put it simply I… put a kid back in his rightful place. He was picking on my brother, nothing happened that he didn't deserve."
“What’d you do, tackle him out on the field?” Dylan lifts his eyebrows, amused smile on his face.
“No, of course not!” You duck your head back into your menu, mumbling, “I went out there and hit him in the groin with his bat.”
-
The kids run out into the field, taking their positions with their needed equipment in hand. You lean back onto the warm metal fence, slipping a pair of sunglasses over your eyes to get a better look at Nat’s team. Without the glaring sun in your eyes.
“This is pathetic!” A young boy, adorned in a bright yellow Dukes uniform comes hurdling out from behind the fence to join Brandon and Steve. “They’re not even wearing uniforms!”
“So what?” Brandon shrugs, voice hardened, “It’s a practice game.” Steve leans into Brandon to whisper something to him, but since he lacks the levels of common decency that most people acquire by the age of five, he talks loud enough for the whole team to hear.
“They don’t look so good, Brandon.”
“It’s okay. They came to play, that’s the important thing.” Man… sometimes Brandon felt too good to be true. You’re convinced there has to be a catch at this point. Gorgeous, smart, great with kids. What’s next? He opens up an animal sanctuary for underprivileged strays? Buys a soup kitchen? “Listen up, you guys. The way you treat your competition is a direct comment on how you play the game. Good sportsmanship counts big time with me and my old man…” as he continues to ramble on, your thoughts begin to shift elsewhere. Like how good he looks. It’s purely criminal for anyone to look so hot in yellow. It’s an inherently unattractive color. Yet, there he is—coaching children in the blazing heat, instilling them with good sportsmanship, and all you want to do is to get him to yourself. That bastard. You shake it off, chalking it up to teenage hormones, and try to focus on the game.
“Hey doofus! You really eat toads!” The same kid whining about uniforms earlier is now directing all of his pent up privilege and ten-year-old angst towards the poor, sweet, small child from Nat's team, the Pitts, further solidifying your desire to never procreate.
“You’ll throw it better next time, Manny!” Nat encourages the little boy wholeheartedly, clapping for him as loudly as he can.
“Hey Corey! Throw it to the doofus, he’s a real toad!” Does this kid only know two insults? The smaller brunette, the less athletically gifted child hangs his head, kicking sand around the base plate in frustration. Brandon takes note of it, immediately bounding out into the middle of the game.
“Time out! Crawford, get in the game for Noah!” His voice is stern, and as he approaches the boy he’s in total coach mode. It’s kinda hot... Well, it’s not your fault baseball’s boring. Gotta keep yourself entertained somehow.
Steve stops Randy Crawford from going out from the fence with the back of his hand, and going after Brandon himself, sand slipping from under his shoes. You can’t hear what they're saying but you know it’s not the happiest conversation. Knowing them, you know exactly how this is playing out. You don’t even need to hear them. You can see Steve furrow his brows from the sidelines, and Brandon’s gesticulating with his hands wildly as they talk but can’t make out any words that are flying from their mouths. Brandon, the moral center of Los Angeles wants Noah out for being a little jerk. Steve, being Steve, would probably rather keep the better player in than save the self esteem of a little boy before it’s too late and it no longer exists. It’s not long until Brandon pats Steve hard on the shoulder, storming off the field in a blur of sand and sweat.
Well, that’s your cue to leave, isn't it? You go to follow Brandon out, but Steve stops you short.
“That boyfriend of yours is a total Boy Scout,” he spits.
“Well, someone’s gotta be," You scoff, eyes rolling, ”They’re just kids, Steve! This isn’t Major League Baseball. There’s no trophy, there’s no prize. There’s absolutely nothing at stake here. What they need to be doing is having fun, and while that snot-nosed little jerk is out there on the field, they’re all gonna be miserable.”
-
You flop down onto Dylan's couch, feet up on the armrest as he grabs a soda from the fridge and parks himself on the ottoman beside you. You exhale, eyes fluttering shut for a moment.
"Rough day out with the little leaguers?"
"Rough day out with Steve," you snort. “I’m so used to being around Brandon I forget that people like Steve Sanders even exist.”
“Come on, Steve isn't that bad."
"Dylan, you're talking about the guy that got carjacked by a girl he was trying to hook up with, and still bailed her out of jail--despite the fact she robbed him justminutes before--in the hopes of getting laid, only for her to steal his wallet." Dylan's face screws in a mix of amusement and total disbelief.
"Okay, so he's that bad," Dylan laughs. "Sorry to break it to you, Y/N/N, but not everyone is a part of the illustrious Walsh family."
"Not everyone can be," you tease. He gently tosses you a throw pillow from the chair across the room, and you use it to prop up your head. "It’s a tragedy.”
-
“See, what did I tell you? Isn’t he sweet? Isn’t he great?” Brenda watches as you comb through the stray dog’s long gray fur. He really is cute… wet black nose, shaggy gray hair, big puppy dog eyes. But you can’t keep him. “I think he likes you!”
“Bren, as much as I’d love to take this puppy home, my parents would kill me!"
“Just take him for a trial run, and if you like him, keep him!”
“Bren—“
“Please?”
“Bren—“
“Come on!” She pleads.
“Fine! Okay, okay. I’ll see if we can take him in tomorrow night,” you concede, giving the dog one last pat on the head. Brenda squeals happily, a grin on her face as she wraps her arms around you.
-
“He’s great! You’ll love him!”
"Fine. See you later... Wally."
The four of you watch silently, perched up at the counter of the Peach Pit as Nat's baseball team chows down on slices of pepperoni pizza. We've got Nat to your far left, wondering how the hell they're going to survive against the team from Beverly Hills, then we've got Dylan to your left debating on whether to finally help Nat and shack up with the struggling team, Brandon to your right who hasn't lifted his hand from your upper thigh this whole time which is seriously distracting, and you, wondering how such little boys could devour so much pizza in so little time.
"You know the improvement from one week to the next is remarkable." You mumble.
"Oh yeah… the kids are showing a lot of promise." Brandon nods absentmindedly, bringing his cup to his lips.
"But…" Dylan begins, "you still need a pitcher that can put the ball over the plate."
"Yeah," Nat sighs, "but win or lose, the most important thing is how good the kids feel about themselves." He's trying to convince you, but the more he talks the more you know he's trying to convince himself.
"Absolutely." You agree.
"Totally." Brandon nods.
"Yeah, I mean, in the long run that's all that counts," Dylan shrugs, his voice coated with scepticism.
"Absolutely." Brandon concurs.
"Totally…” You say. “Y’know, I was talking to Andrea about this and she knows a pretty great player from the valley."
They all turn their heads, slowly, with Nat glancing from you to the phone. You roll your eyes at the boys, making your way over to the payphone. The group watches with bated breath behind you as you slip in the quarters and dial her number, waiting for her to pick up.
"Hello?"
"Andrea, hi! Listen, uh, do you remember the other day? You told me you knew some kid in the valley who was a major blue-chip little leaguer?"
"Oh, yeah! Avery?"
"Yeah… Avery." You twist your head back, giving them a smile and a thumbs up.
-
"What's Dylan doing? Bringing in a ringer?" Steve scoffs, twisting the metal bat in his hand as he cleans it. You exchange knowing smirks with Brandon as Dylan helps Avery get ready on the sidelines. She takes off her ball cap, releasing the foot of long brunette pony-tailed hair. Gasps are heard from center field, seemingly originating from Noah. Shocker.
"Oh my god! Dude, it's a girl!" He laughs out, adjusting his cap against the wind.
"Poor Dylan, he's really scraping the bottom of the barrel, huh?" Oh, if only you and that misogynistic head of yours knew, Steve-O. And surprise, surprise—Every pitch she's involved in ends up in a home run for the Pitts.
And little by little, much to your joy, Steve is getting progressively more aggravated— tapping feet, flaring nostrils, bugged-out eyes. You’re beginning to like baseball.
Eventually you make your way over to Brenda, off by the sidelines. You watch as they send Davey from the Dukes out, and Manny, the small, athletically challenged boy from the Pitts, isn’t far behind. Brandon perks up, calling a timeout to give what you can only assume is another one of his infamous Brandon talks to his team. After a moment the team breaks up, moving into their correct positions and as Manny chokes up on his bat ready to pitch. You cringe, hiding your face in your hand.
But it's nothing short of a miracle as Davey throws the ball. It makes contact with Manny's bat, soaring across the field as he jets off across the bases. The catcher from the Dukes runs for the ball, tripping over his own foot and skidding across the grass. The whole team erupts into ecstatic cheers, rushing out and lifting Manny onto their shoulders. You know that Davey blew the pitch for him, you’ve seen him pitch a hundred times. But seeing the joy on that little boy's face, you knew that it didn't matter.
"Poor kid," Brenda sighs, looking out to the opposite direction to Randy Crawford, the catcher that landed face-first into the grass. "I mean, he really gave it his best-- Wally!"
"Wally? Bren, what're you-- oh my god! That is Wally!" Off in the distance, you can see the gray ball of hair hurdling towards the baseball diamond.
"That's not Wally! That's Rupert! It's my dog, he's back!" Randy gasps, watching in amazement as his shaggy mutt runs across the crowds and into his open arms.
"Hey uh," Brandon comes to greet you, but is looking out into the field as well, "isn't that supposed to be your dog, Y/N/N?"
"No, Brandon," Brenda shakes her head, light smile lacing her lips. "I guess that's Randy's dog…" You sigh, but seeing the little boy giggle with glee as Wally-- er, Rupert, laps at his cheek, there's no troubling emotions to be found.
"I'm sorry, Y/N/N," Brandon laces his fingers with yours, grabbing your attention with a soft kiss to your temple.
"I'm not," you assure him. You smile, the sight of the boy reuniting with his long lost dog something straight out of a movie scene. One last look and you turn away from the boy, eyes meeting your boyfriend’s. “Hey, Brandon... have a date for that dance yet?”

I can’t sleep. I’m watching Beverly Hills 90210 for the millionth time and I have TONS of opinions. Spoilers. Obviously
Tumblr media
Unpopular Opinions - Beverly Hills 90210 Edition
1) Dylan and Brenda forever and ever amen. Kelly and Dylan never made sense to me. I liked Brandon and Kelly and it still pisses me off that they ended the way they did. (I never watched the continuation show from the mid-2000′s so they could have gotten a better ending after all).
2) Andrea and Brandon never made sense to me. I loved their friendship. The fact they could bounce ideas off each other and push each other to be better was nice to see.
3) I think Andrea should have gone to Yale. I know why she couldn’t but she should have.
4) Steve and Andrea could have been magic. I ship them and think if they really put the work in the writer's room with them they could have been EPIC. I have no fanfiction and I’ve managed to find one or two people who agree with me. Seriously though....Steve and Andrea had major chemistry and it was wasted.
5) Kelly drives me up a damn wall. She is so annoying but I still care about her.  Which means they did their job on the show. She annoys me but I still care about her.
6) The Dylan marries the drug dealer's daughter for revenge but really falls for her could have been an epic story. I would have built this up for a good two seasons. Really lead the audience into this world and story just to have the same ending. The impact would have been even more insane on Dylan and the audience. I know the story was just so Luke Perry could take some time off but still...could have been even more epic.
7) I love the summer episodes with all my heart. I wish I could have hung out at the beach club.
8) I liked Val. I think she added a lot to the show. Even if she was a knock off of Sydney on Melrose. She was fun.
9) Dylan. Dylan. Dylan. Damn. I loved him with all my heart. Brandon was preachy and there were times I wanted to flick his ear and tell him to shut up. Dylan. Dylan. Dylan. SO CUTE. So mysterious. Explains why I had a thing for Ryan Atwood on The O.C..

which was a worse story green knuckles arc or adult knuckles goes to dinner parties arc?
Ooooh boy that is a tough call, one I keep grappling with to this very day.
Ultimately though I think 25YL is worse, if only by a few inches.
See, the Green Knuckles storyline was ultimately a waste of time- it’s one of those stories I point to as being evidence that after a certain point, Penders was writing more for himself than the audience. It was a boring, meandering and ultimately pointless storyline that allowed Penders to crank up the ‘Knuckles Is Jesus’ symbolism to the max and truly cement just how much of a pet character Knuckles really was to him. Despite this supposedly earth shattering moment, nothing in the comic is changed beyond Knuckles temporarily dying- despite all that power Knuckles has, nothing comes from it, nor does he even attempt to at least end the Eggman problem once and for all. The whole thing exists so that Penders can wax philosophical and pretend that he’s actually a deeb, big boy writer while demonstrating his stunted and incredibly juvenile sense of storytelling.
So, what could 25YL possibly do to top that? I’ll tell you what- the fact that people were excited for it.
Hard as it may be to believe, there was a time when M25YL and Lara-Su where something people were eagerly anticipating. Like, there was in fact a great deal of genuine hype being built up for it. Lara-Su was getting fanart and fanfiction long before the story hit, and the build up only increased with the hint that in 25YL, Knuckles had gone mad with power and now Lara and Julie were trying to fight against his reign.
People went nuts when the storyline was finally announced. And when it finally hit... it did so with all the impact of a wet fart in a crowded elevator. Everything that had been expected, everything people had been looking forward to was nowhere to be found. Knuckles was the real main focus of the story. Julie-Su (whom Penders had SWORE would still ‘kick ass) was now an utterly cliched example of a housewife. Oh, and Lara-Su? Lara-Su was a whiny teenage idiot who only got to be a guardian due to whining her way to the top. And then there was the story itself- sweet sixteens, pool parties, Sonic’s midlife crisis, and on and on and on it dragged, with a lackluster, meaningless conclusion.
We didn’t even get the events of that stupid vision Locke had, nor did we get the intriguing premise of a world where Knuckles had gone mad with power. No, we got “Mobius 90210″, and the parts that weren’t immediately about Knuckles were still boring and kind of insulting. Sonic’s son was a colossal, annoying little pervert, his daughter was basically a piece of scenery, and Sally? Despite Sally being queen of the world and her past as the leader of the Freedom Fighters, somehow she STILL functioned as an obedient housewife to Sonic.
Now there is nothing wrong with being a domestic, obviously, but the thing is that these futures did not actually seem to fit, like, not even remotely, and the partnerships between spouses were less than equal, with Sonic and Knuckles both hiding crucial details from their loved ones despite the danger. All leading towards a conclusion that, much like Chaos Knuckles, left you wondering what the exact point of it all was.
Chaos Knuckles was an awful, awful storyline, but it was an awful storyline that nobody was hoping for. Mobis 25YL by contrast was something that people wanted so BADLY, and it turned out worse than anyone could have imagined, and completely squandered one of the best storyline opportunities in the book’s history.

Favorite underrated otps? Those ships that some people just can’t stand but you actually love?
underrated pairings okay that’s pretty much all my ships!
brulian ok i know people loved br*cas but i think brooke deserves someone who thinks the sun shines outta her ass and she found that in julian he adores her and they are so wonderful they could cure my depression they make me so happy bc lucas is whatever at the end of the day julian can run circles around lucas and that’s a fucking fact when it comes to loving and understanding brooke bc he and her have much more in common and she never felt inferior to him or shitty or hurt or sad about not being enough and not being let in. they deserve each other because they had such a hard time in love and life and he only has eyes for her. i love them and i will cherish them forever. i need a rewatch.
sparcy now this one everyone's got their opinions on who spin should be with and imma say darcy bc i know i love spaige too but paige didn’t appreciate him for the sweet boy he really is and when nobody wanted to be spin’s friend or even look at him - darcy didn’t give a shit and accepted him with open arms and an open heart they make me feel so happy and they were adorable and sweet and romantic and then fucking canon fucked them over but we’ll always have redemption song and foolin’ to reminisce upon. i can never have nice things.
steve and kelly for some reason i shipped really hard in bh 90210 in the first 2 seasons and it broke me when they had that episode about this rumor he spread about kelly back in the day i really felt that bc kelly even tho they had weird history and steve was bitter she cared for him and they understood each other and were friends after and spent many years being friends and that hurt bad but i loved them together and wanted them to come full circle and never did and im bitter and sad but they had something special
klare even tho it doesnt last forever they’re hella underrated
emma and jay is my ship from hell i swear i’d ship them like no tomorrow even tho my true love is semma i will settle for some emjay i literally know like 3 people who feel this miriam and mike’s chem was undeniable. it was such a missed opporunity for them to date during season 5 (: ahh only in fanfiction and in my dreams
this show is also forever old but back to bh 90210 i fucking shipped the fuck out of andrea and brandon and even tho brandon’s preachy ass was dating every one-episode girl or girl of the week whatever you prefer he should’ve been looking at her  they had such a nice dynamic and i think they’d be one of those great ships started out as friends and became something special but of course again brimi can’t have nice things so yea
hmm idk what else i feel like i’m missing something but here’s a few couples! none of which are endgame some never even happened but still underrated af.
